It isn't on the sea front, but only a short drive away. We managed to park outside, although spaces are limited. The place was reasonably clean, and the decor was fine. The toilet was just about okay for Mum with limited mobility using a rollator. I think a lot of people would give this place full stars as there was nothing bad about it. I have a bit of a 'thing' about places that don't change the mop water, so I guess I'm picky! The food looked very good and whilst we have had better, we enjoyed it. We would go back again.

As shown below we ordered two regular cod and chips and one extra large cod and chips. The large one came with two pieces of cod rather than one big one which turned out to be ok as two people were sharing it anyway. Quality is really good and by current standards this is the best fish and chips I’ve had in quite some time. Chips were soft, quality potato was used and the fish batter was tasty. It’s not cheap but then I’ve wasted money on sub par fish and chips so many times that it probably adds up to hundreds. Would have given it full 5 stars but guy behind the counter completely ignored my request for Tomato ketchup and was very pushy about adding tartare sauces to my order. Each small serving you see below is £1 each. However it’s made in house and is lovely. Final verdict: this place deserves 3 cheers for keeping the dying institution of fish and chips alive.

What they call pecan tart is a laugh, the tart was about 4mm in height barely any filling, no pecans in the filling just 1 pecan on top and they charge £6 for that. They used to have a special menu 2 courses now it's only on Tues to thursday! Nothing advised when we booked so definitely no longer worth the money! We will not be returning there unfortunately! FYI we always had 2 course menu at every sitting we had no matter what day except sundays! Never ever had a bad meal except that night. If that is your double cooked chips then God help us all! No problem, the waitresses were very obliging and helpful. I used to frequent the restaurant quite a few times pre the change of ownership and never once had a poor meal. However, this doesn’t seem the case now. I have been reading the latest reviews about the food and the chips/potatoes plus veg seem to have taken the most hits. This was one of our gripes. Why hasn’t the chef changed this to prevent further negative comments? The chips served with the Moules (main course £22) were delicious. The potatoes served with the other courses were blackish/grey in colour - cold and generally inedible. We did comment up this to the gentleman there (someone thought he was the owner) and he replaced some of the uneaten potatoes with 2 bowls of freshly cooked chips. Thank you. One of the ladies had the pork which was tough and again inedible. This was pointed out at the time of the clearing and an apology made. The others all commented the food was only just ok but not a good standard overall. However, on a positive note, the sea bass and mussels were good! As we were leaving, one of the chef’s or the chef appeared and started to clear the table next to ours. Good on him for helping out as required, but please suggest he looks tidy and presentable especially as he is representing behind the scenes of the restaurant and the food that has been served! They said that instead of not charging us for the steak as they had initially promised, the £6.50 dessert was complementary. I found this insulting. We have never complained about any of the meals we have enjoyed in the nine years we have eaten at Isabella's as we have never had reason to. We had a lovely window seat and if it was in the day time I could tell you would get a lovely view. The staff were amazing and the food arrived promptly and very nice to eat. They had an offer on for Friday night, 2 grill items and get a free bottle of wine. We decided on the steak, it’s always a bit hit and miss ordering a steak but decided as they only offer sirloin 10oz to go for it. Wow 😮, cooked to perfection. My partner had medium well and myself medium rare. Both cut like butter and so flavourful, chips were lovely and the salad was so refreshing with a nice dressing drizzled on top. Very nice price and the service was amazing. Tables cleaned and nice atmosphere from the locals. So impressed we headed back there after a wander this morning and ended up having lunch. They know how to pull a pint here aswell, highly recommend. When we come back we shall be visiting again 😊

I had the beef and my family had pork, both meats were tender and tasty, cooked to perfection. The roasties were pretty much bang on and the Yorkshire was perfect. The cauli cheese was a lovely addition too (extra cost, but not excessive). You would pay more than £30 for 3 courses in a chain bar/pub and yet that is the price here for top drawer food. All served in a timely fashion, but never rushed or slow. If I could add one constructive criticism, it would be that dinner wasn't quite as hot as I'd like it, perfectly edible but I like it piping hot! The starter was a house French Onion soup that was the best I've had if I'm honest, and the desserts were tasty. I had the bread and butter pudding, absolutely exquisite with hints of fruit and a perfect custard. The local cheese board was another highlight. Great service too from Becky, Caitlin, and the rest of front of house/bar staff, and the chefs deserve a medal for putting out such delicious food when it's busy. Lastly the actual restaurant/bar is in an iconic location with beautiful views and well decorated/adorned with local pictures and insights. My family and I stumbled on this place after arriving in the area for a short holiday. We had had a long day of driving and were very ready for our traditional fish and chips by the sea on arrival. After deliberating with the menu we were then told Sunday lunch only! Then over an hour later when the restaurant seemed to have been fed, it transpired that our order went missing. I ordered pork, the slices were no longer than your thumb. Luke warm food & my wife's chicken fillet was so bone dry it was left. I politely suggested that a round of drinks would help ease the pain I got the back of the head. I wished we didn't pay the bill. It cost £50 per head so we were expecting a good meal. What we got was about a quarter of a normal meal in an Indian restaurant, PLUS it was cold. They must have run out of poppadoms because they fillled the rest of the bag with some shop bought mini ones. The nan bread, cant lie was delicious. I couldn't stomach eating the curry and left the majority of it, yet still spent the next few days on the toilet with the worst stomach cramps. Would never eat from there again, a real shame.

The food was excellent, and value was absolutely amazing. Not the easiest place to find but it's in Esplanade Avenue (the street after the Pavilion). The 2 meals for £10 were absolutely astonishing! See pics. The surf & turf with a 10 oz steak also amazing value at £12.50, will certainly call again.
