Main course in 2025 was around £25 on average. Place was packed on a weekday evening which was a good sign. We reserved a table which I recommend, I would imagine especially especially for a weekend. The place itself was lovely inside and was large but still kept a cozy feel. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only issue was they jumped on us within seconds of sitting down to order a drink when we hadn't even looked at the drinks menu but then the food courses took quite a while to come out. However this was a minor issue and the food, atmosphere and general smiles of the staff all made the experience really good and we will definitely be going back. Two of us had a main course, pudding each and three drinks and the total came to over £100 so not a cheap meal but it was food worth paying for.

We ordered the Sunday Pork Roast and had Salt & Pepper Squid as a starter — the batter was perfectly crispy and everything was served fresh. Service is always great and the team are efficient. I love that they host special weeks as well. Upon arriving, they quickly noticed I was on crutches and managed to sort out a table for us in the dining area to save me from using the bar stools. We were served by Matt who was an absolute star, so attentive, friendly and perceptive. I had the roast beef and my partner had the pork belly. Neither of us have had a roast as good as this in a very long time! Both the beef and the pork were cooked to absolute perfection. Nothing was too much effort for Matt who made us feel incredibly welcome. The food and service were fantastic. The first thing you notice is the atmosphere, its a really well lit and decorated restaurant. Everyone from the people already eating there to the staff were all smiling and happy. Service is brilliant as well, very nice people and very quick to help. Food is the absolute highlight here though. I had a King Prawn Rogan and it was easily in my top 5 of Indian food I've had in life. A large award to give out to a random spot in a random UK town. We did start with the classic poppadom with the mango sides, which was also perfect. Rice and naan was great, no complaints but the curry I had itself stopped me from really wanting anything else. In general, the combination of a great spot, great staff and superb food make this a really great sort of "hidden" gem that I highly recommend. Note: They don't have a license to serve alcohol. BUT, there is a cheap news agent across the street with a nice selection of cheap alcohol so I somewhat prefer the way its done and its a little charming. So, the restaurant is totally okay with you bringing in outside alcohol and encourage it, knowing British culture. The staff bring you glasses and a bottle opener at request.

We visited as a last minute booking following a short notice cancellation from a local restaurant due to them not being able to cater for my milk allergy. Whilst I am not a big believer in fate, I’m so grateful we ended up visiting here! Cotê brasserie went above and beyond to not only cater for, but exceed, anything we could have asked for in service. Staff were incredibly hospitable, friendly and welcoming. They not only were attentive in service, they spent time talking to us about the local area and helping us plan our remaining itinerary for our evening and the rest of our trip! The food was excellent, we enjoyed the crab and calmari starters, moules frites and poulet brenton and salted caramel tart and crepe desserts, all of which were cooked to perfection. Dealing with my allergy was fuss free which really allowed me to enjoy my evening and relax! Lovely setting with a great selection of drinks and really excellent food! The local cider (Black Pig) became a firm favourite with my husband. The kids and grown up boys loved their burgers, and my sister in law and I thoroughly enjoyed our Stilton and broccoli quiches with salad and chips. Oh and the Berry crumble was gorgeous too!!!! A nice pint was had by all, cider and beer, and we sat in the sunny beer garden full of gorgeous red roses and our waitresses were so polite and helpful.. Probably the easiest pub outing I've had with kids in tow! We will be back soon 😎 😎

The staff on the whole were so friendly and happy to help which gave us a great feeling. The garden was busy but had a lovely atmosphere overall. The expectations were gained by the lofty price tags on the BBQ menu which was the only offering on a Saturday Afternoon when we visited. We chose to have a Burger and Chips each and a glass of Coke each to drink. We were a little sad that the food didn’t quite live up to our expectations. The meal was served on a ‘compostable’ (aka throw-away) cardboard take-away boxes and we were given a small sachet of sauce each. The burger was clearly from the freezer along with the fries and the burger bun had a distinctly shop-bought feel. I’d have been really happy paying £12 at a festival for that food from a van in a field, but we thought that The Sloop could (and should) be doing better than that if it justifies the £20 price tag. After a £50 lunch we came away feeling conflicted and less than impressed with the food. But as mentioned before that isn’t to the detriment of the staff who were lovely throughout! Its a slight detour from the route, but we'll worth it. We sat outside with the good weather, service was busy and they have a small bar area. We ordered 2 baguettes and a pie, all came out relatively quite. The fries served with the baguettes were delicious and the baguettes itself was very delicious and filling. The pie was absolutely fabulous, good pastry and a lovely filling, a proper pie cut and not a single individual one. We just had breakfasts both the large and ordinary plus an 'allergy free' one for our celiac family member. Our breakfasts were ordered and paid for using the phone app at the table however the allergy free one has to be ordered at the bar and paid for there so be aware. The quality of the food and quantity were good in all cases. My large breakfast was 2 eggs, 3 back bacon, grilled Tomato, black pudding, 3 hash browns, mushrooms, beans (I declined these as they are the food of the devil), two sausages and 2 toast. Tea etc was taken at a separate cost. My only slight annoyance was the sausage it was a very fine cut and I prefer a more coarse cut traditional style . Otherwise all was good the hash browns were crispy and the food was warm. Service was wonderful, polite, friendly and helpful and a real credit to the place! Perfect for a working breakfast meet up, early meet after the school run or just a morning social. I will return but try a later visit and sample the beer !

Taste is subjective so bear this in mind when considering reviews. Lees fish and chip shop is under new ownership and this was my first visit for a long time. Fair prices and in a good location for parking up in the evening. The chips are very greasy and soaked the paper through. The food items we bought were undercooked and gave us food poisoning afterwards. Every seems to be cooked to order, so be prepared for a 15 to 20 minute wait. However I couldn’t have been much more disappointed, the fish had a bit too thick a batter so some wasn’t properly cooked out and tasted floury. I ordered the king prawn fried rice and Szechuan chicken. The rice was nicely cooked and the eggs had a soft, fluffy texture. The prawns were cooked perfectly. But the dish could have been seasoned a bit more as it was slightly bland. The chicken was tender and the Szechuan sauce had a nice kick to it. Portions are relatively generous and the prices are reasonable. It is sad to hear that they are closing down. All the best in the future!

And as it's only a takeaway what a good find. Little bit of the beaten track, but clean and tidy upon entrance. I orderd salt and pepper chicken wings. And I totally recommended then. Wish I'd taken a photo five wings five and half quid. The fatest meatyest I've ever had. As a chef these were great. full 3 bits that make up the wing. Followed by Singapore noodles and curry sauce. 14quid in total. And all cooked fresh. Noodles were spot on and the curry sauce was of good rice thick flavoursum quality. If your a lover of well cooked Chinese food. Then as my 1st experience was totally bang on for the money. Recommended for sure. And I will be back. Top grub Peking Chef Thank You.
