Indore

Indore is a city in west-central India. It’s known for the 7-story Rajwada Palace and the Lal Baag Palace, which date back to Indore’s 19th-century Holkar dynasty. The Holkar rulers are honored by a cluster of tombs and cenotaphs at Chhatri Baag. The night market Sarafa Bazar sells street food. East is the Indo-Gothic Gandhi Hall and clock tower. The Jain temple Kanch Mandir has a mirrored mosaic interior.

Sights & Landmarks
Lal Bagh Palace, a lavish 19th-century mansion of the Holkar dynasty, showcases a blend of baroque, rococo, and neoclassical architectural styles. This three-story palace has been transformed into a grand museum featuring Italian and Indian paintings, exquisite chandeliers, and furnishings reflecting early Georgian and late Persian designs. Spanning across 28 hectares of land, it stands as a testament to the opulence and culture of the Maratha kingdom.
Very great palace to know about the Holkars dynasty. The architecture was mix of European and Indian mix. The interiors are very posh and royal, however there were renovations going on in the palace. Once it is complete, I am sure it would be a must visit place in Indore. The entry ticket for adults is Rs. 50 and for kids it is free entry. Ample parking space and good greenery around the palace.
Vishnu C — Google review
My experience was quite good, but to get there you first need to bargain with the auto drivers. They will ask for ₹100, but you should only give them ₹20. They will tell you that the gate charges parking fees, but in reality, the parking is only ₹10. The place is not very far from the gate, so you can also go by walking. As for inside, you won’t find drinking water there, so it’s better to carry your own water bottle. The entry ticket is just ₹20. There isn’t much special inside the palace. However, it’s a nice place for couples—it’s peaceful, surrounded by forest, and you can sit quietly and talk. But if you are going with your family, then you won’t really find it that enjoyable.
RAVI K — Google review
Lal Bagh Palace is one of the most fascinating heritage gems in Indore, and my visit here was an unexpectedly rich experience. The moment you step inside the massive iron gates, imported from London and said to be inspired by those of Buckingham Palace, you instantly feel the grandeur of the Holkar era. The palace was built in phases between 1886 and 1921 by the Holkar rulers, mainly by Tukoji Rao Holkar II and III, and it served as one of their important residences. Knowing that you are walking through the same corridors where the Holkar royal family lived makes the visit even more special. The interiors are the real showstopper. The palace has a strong European architectural influence, especially Italian and French styles. The grand ballroom, with its large Belgian mirrors and ornate decorations, is absolutely breathtaking. One interesting fact I loved learning about is that the ballroom’s floor was designed with springs inside so that it would vibrate with the rhythm of the music during royal dances something truly ahead of its time. Another surprising feature is the European-style elevator, which was installed more than a century ago! Seeing such engineering in a palace of that era is genuinely impressive. The walls, furniture, chandeliers, and artwork, all reflect the luxurious lifestyle of the Holkars. Every room seems to preserve a piece of history. The palace also sits on a beautiful 28-acre estate, and although some areas outside could use better maintenance, the overall charm is still intact. The museum section displays old photographs, royal artifacts, weapons, and personal belongings that give insight into the Holkar dynasty’s cultural legacy. What I personally found most interesting is that Lal Bagh Palace used to host major diplomatic and royal gathering, it wasn’t just a residence but a symbol of Indore’s power, culture, and openness to global influences.
Hemendra D — Google review
This is a grand palace with a lot of European architectural influence. But it has its own pros and cons. Pros: Beautiful architecture and high ceilings (I really like buildings with high ceilings). Massive garden area in the premises. And since Indore doesn’t have a lot to offer, you can visit this to pass time. Cons: It’s under renovation for restoration work. Most of the palace is inaccessible. There is not much to see with what is accessible. If you have visited a lot of museums and palaces, you won’t enjoy it at all. Ticket price is only Rs 20 pp.
A K — Google review
I am disappointed and feeling cheated. The Lalbagh Palace is under renovation but they didn't tell me this before I bought the high priced ticket (400) for foreigners. Only a few ground floor rooms are accessible, other ones are closed. The garden is poorly maintained and littered, the toilet is broken and dirty. When I asked why the renovation wasn't mentioned, they said it is written. Yes, in Hindi. Why they couldn't write that two words: "Under renovation" in English? Waste of money and time. This high entry fees for foreigners, the constant discrimination, will not develop the international tourism.
Eva M — Google review
Lalbagh Palace at Indore was built by the Holkar Dynasty. The Holkars resided in the palace up to 1978. After the demise of Tukojirao Holkar(III), his granddaughter Usha Raje set up a trust to look after the estate. Later, it was brought under the control of State Government. It is a lovely palace to visit and has some beautifully decorated rooms which are very similar in architecture to what you see in Windsor palace. So whenever you are planning a trip to Indore, do visit this iconic Palace, and fall in love with its wonderful architecture. Owing to its real royal feel, Lal Bagh Palace has remained one of the favourite Bollywood shooting location. Many movies like Kalank, Singh Saab the Great and Mahal (Tamil Movie) have been shot in the palace. Date visited : 22.10.2025

Beautiful palace. Restoration work was in progress when we visited on 2nd Nov. 2025. Once restoration written is completed, interiors of the palace should look fabulous. Worth a visit if you are in Indore.

Step into the Central Museum in Indore and take a journey through time, exploring over 10,000 rare artifacts that span from prehistoric fossils to medieval sculptures. The museum showcases the rich cultural heritage of the region with diverse galleries and intriguing displays. After marveling at antique swords and stone-carved jharokhas from royal times, relax at the cafe before continuing your exploration.
Nice place in the heart of indore. It gives great history details about The sculptures, the photos , coins , and weapons. Amazing to see such great things which are forgotten by future generations. Once must see and show to the kids about such great history. Charges 20 per head which is not much expensive to experience the things there.

I recently visited the Central Museum in Indore and really enjoyed the experience. It’s a peaceful place that takes you back in time with its impressive collection of sculptures, coins, and ancient artifacts. The stone carvings from different eras are beautifully displayed and give a glimpse of the region’s rich history. The museum is well-maintained and not too crowded, so you can explore at your own pace. If you enjoy history or just want a calm, informative outing in Indore, this place is definitely worth a visit. 😄👋

My experience at the museum was really good. Got to see few historical things and we had @amay.gite with us, so it was a great experience as he shared the history behind the coins, copper plates and inscriptions that we were looking. Few things could have be improved like they have placed coins sticker instead of original coins, they have made charts just like a 5th class school project. This could be removed and a more detailed and enhanced things could be placed for a better study. You would get a lot of things from Maratha empire period specifically Holkars and Shindes there Canons, coins, guns, etc. Overall Good experience

"Beautiful and well-maintained museum in the heart of Indore. Great collection of sculptures, coins, paintings, and artifacts from prehistoric to Holkar era. Entry fee is very low, and the place is peaceful for history lovers. Takes around 1–2 hours to explore."
Vijju S — Google review
Average museum. The antiques have been placed without any mention of details. Toilets are dirty. No guides. But the antique are treasure. Dept must include audio guide or physical guides.

The Central Museum in Indore is a treasure trove for history lovers. It showcases ancient tools, sculptures, coins, and weapons from the prehistoric to medieval periods, especially from the Malwa region. Highlights include Parmar-era statues, rare inscriptions, and tribal art. The massive Ganesha idol at the entrance is stunning. The museum is peaceful, well-maintained, and informative, making it ideal for students and curious minds. Though simple in layout, it offers a deep glimpse into India's rich cultural past. A visit here feels like time-travel through centuries of heritage. Perfect for a short, meaningful cultural experience in the heart of Indore.
Samarth S — Google review
I have seen high school exhibitions more detailed than this, it’s quite sad that we call this a museum, yes there’s a lot on display but much of it seems hand drawn by children, we boast of rich heritage yet none of it is highlighted anywhere. It all feels very random, like just a display and not a museum. I wish they included the story behind exhibits instead of just writing coin next to coins and swords next to swords, there’s no narrative being set. Honestly a collaboration with a school where they put in the missing material and story will improve the museum by many times.

Kanch Mandir, also known as the Temple of Glass, is a Jain temple in Indore, India. Built by Seth Hukumchand in 1903, this lavish temple is entirely covered in glass panels and mosaic artwork. The interiors are adorned with intricate glass mosaics, chandeliers, and an onyx statue of Mahavira.
Kanch Mandir is truly mesmerizing with its intricate mirror art, creating a stunning visual experience. It’s a Jain temple, so followers come here to pray and perform pooja. Be respectful and avoid interfering with their prayers—keep your phone on DND and no photography allowed in side the temple. It’s a place best experienced in person, where the beauty of the mirrors should be seen with your own eyes. Persons from all over India as well as foreign Tourist come to see this temple. Very beautiful temple and famous in Jain's Community.

I recently got a chance to revisit Kaanch Mandir on the auspicious occasion of Dhoop Dashmi, and it was an absolutely divine experience. The temple, made entirely of glass and mirrors, looks stunning on any day but on Dhoop Dashmi, with beautifully crafted Mandal Ji, its beauty and spiritual glow were truly beyond words. The temple is located in the main market area, so I’d recommend visiting by public transport or two-wheeler for convenience, as parking space is limited. If you’re in Indore, this sacred place is a must-visit - the artistry here is truly a masterpiece. – Muskan 🙏

This stunning Kanch Mahal Jain Temple, dedicated to Bhagwan Mahaveer, is a true marvel of artistry and devotion. Every inch of its walls glitters with mirror inlay, glass mosaics, and hand-painted depictions of Jain stories. The intricate craftsmanship reflects both spiritual depth and aesthetic brilliance. Standing inside, surrounded by light and reflection, you feel an aura of peace, divinity, and timeless heritage. A sacred place where devotion meets dazzling design — truly an unforgettable experience.

A beautiful temple which is a must see to admire how beautiful glass work is used to make this. They don't allow photography in to maintain the decorum of the place. They are very strict about it too.
Maleeva R — Google review
This early 20th-century Jain marvel is an architectural feast, with literally every surface—walls, floor, ceiling, and pillars—covered in intricate glass and mirror mosaics. Step inside, and the reflections create a breathtaking illusion of infinite idols! Be prepared, though: while the artistry is stunning, the place is showing its age and could use better maintenance. Also, don't be surprised if the security staff seems a bit curt. Regardless, this shimmering wonder is a must-see for its truly unique beauty!

Barbecue restaurant
Kebabsville, located in Vijay Nagar Sayaji Hotel East Indore, is a relaxed dining spot offering an extensive menu of North Indian cuisine and barbecue dishes. The restaurant is known for its inviting atmosphere and quality ingredients used to create delicious meals. It's also famous for its live-kitchen experience where guests can enjoy unlimited servings of 10 types of kebabs followed by a buffet dinner by the poolside.
I recently visited Kebabsville Dehradun at Effotel Hotel by Sayaji. The rooftop swimming pool and the cafe’s ambience was just amazing & perfect for lovely evening. The food with barbecue & grill was at point with 50+ dishes in the menu. Loved the hospitality and the whole atmosphere & vibe of this place.

Hello foodies, we recently tried this barbeque restaurant at sayaji hotel..it was the last day of Arabian food festival and we thought to explore the same..being weekend it was packed , still being advanced table reservation it took time for us to get the table and service was dead slow. All thanks to Mr. Rafik the manager at the hotel, when we approached him with our concerns and such a delay in service...he personally served the majority of starters at our table. Also to make us feel happy a yummy cake was also served as complimentary from them as it's being my father's bday celebration dinner. Overall starters were good , specially prawn and chicken.in terms of Arabian starters the shawarma was great in taste. In the main course the mutton was amazing as was the mutton biryani too. Overall a great experience... Though service needs improvement I hope things can get better in the future. Kebabsville – Sayaji Hotel, Indore ✨ Poolside BBQ + Live music + Unlimited buffet = Perfect dinner vibes! 🌙🔥🎶 Best for family dinners or special celebrations ❤️ Highlights: 👉🏻 Live BBQ 👉🏻 Unlimited Buffet We opted for the Executive Veg Buffet. The starters and BBQ were the real stars—flavorful, well-prepared, and & absolutely mouth-watering. 😍🔥 They also have live counters serving different types of chaat & BBQ starters. 🌮✨ The veg buffet included the main course and a dessert counter. However, the main course and desserts were just average. 📍: Sayaji Hotel, H-1, Scheme No. 54, Vijay Nagar, Indore (Ground Floor, Warehouse Road)

I've dined at this 5-star hotel's poolside BBQ restaurant multiple times, and my recent experience was truly delightful. I opted for the executive veg buffet, and to my surprise, the starters were absolutely amazing—flavorful, well-prepared, and simply outstanding! The main course was equally impressive, offering a perfect balance of taste and variety. The only slight letdown was the desserts, which felt a bit average compared to my previous visits. However, aside from that, everything else was top-notch—the ambiance, service, and overall dining experience were fantastic. I always enjoy my time here and highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a great BBQ experience!

I had an extremely unpleasant experience at kebabsville by Hotel saya ji Indore M.P. Despite clearly mentioning dietary preferences, they knowingly served non-veg food to a vegetarian, which is absolutely unacceptable and deeply hurtful. What’s worse, when the issue was raised, the staff and managers were extremely rude and unapologetic. They showed no remorse for such a serious mistake. This kind of behavior reflects a complete lack of professionalism and respect for customers. I would strongly advise others to stay away, especially if you have specific dietary or religious food restrictions. A truly disappointing and shocking experience.

Dear Authorities, For the past two decades, I have been visiting Sayaji regularly. Many weddings, family functions, and parties in my family have been hosted at your hotel, and I have dined at your various restaurants countless times. Until yesterday, my experiences had always been positive. Unfortunately, my most recent experience at Kebabsville was nothing short of pathetic, and it has compelled me to write this complaint. day before yesterday on 24 August 2025, I booked a buffet dinner for 19 guests at Kebabsville Indore. Since it was Sayaji, I had full confidence that the service and food would meet your reputed standards. Sadly, what followed was a complete disaster. Only one waiter was assigned for 19 people. Even after repeated requests, additional support was provided only after much delay. The staff appeared untrained and indifferent, refusing to listen properly or respond promptly. Snacks were served cold, and even basic things like water bottles had to be repeatedly asked for. At the food counters, I had to request soup bowls from at least 6–7 staff members. Finally, I was forced to raise my voice before bowls were given. The “Pan Ice Cream” ran out midway, leaving half of my guests disappointed. Similarly, at the dessert counter, we had to repeatedly insist before items like gulab jamun were served. The overall arrangements were completely disorganized, and many other diners present were facing the same issues. In all my years of dining experiences—both at Sayaji and elsewhere—I have never seen such poor service and mismanagement at a buffet. What was supposed to be a memorable family dinner turned into a humiliating experience. I had to personally apologize to my guests, many of whom are also your regular clients. This is not the standard expected from a brand of Sayaji’s reputation and I sincerely hope you will take this complaint seriously and address the concerns raised. If such standards continue, I will no longer be able to recommend Sayaji to others. You are losing the goodwill and reputation that you had built over the years.

Had a very disappointing experience at Sayali Hotel – Kebabsville Restaurant. The waiter misguided us about drink prices and gave no clear explanation, which felt like a deliberate attempt to bait customers. This is highly unprofessional and misleading. Customers deserve transparency and honesty, not hidden charges or vague communication. Would not recommend unless management addresses this issue seriously.

I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. The quantity and quality of the food were far from satisfying, and the taste was even worse. What's worse, when I ordered biryani, they charged extra for onions! It's unacceptable. If you're looking for great hospitality, I recommend visiting Maharashtra, where food comes with unlimited onions at no extra cost.

Recently I visited this restaurant. Here is my review: - I found stains on chair cushion. Dirty chairs. - I order veg biryani. Usually it comes with raita/curd but they dont give that. You need to order it which is chargeable. - To be true, taste of biryani was like fried rice. I don't like the taste.

Had heard praises for the food here, however, the food here wasn't that good and made us Ill the following day. Mutton was too oily for regular consumption and rice too was a bit hard, perhaps raw.

We ordered the Tahiri veg biryani here. The dish lacked the authentic taste of biryani. It tasted more like plain fried rice than biryani. No flavor, no aroma. Not worth the money.

The food quality here is outstanding. Every dish we ordered was rich in flavor, perfectly cooked, and served fresh. Their Biryani is a showstopper — full of aroma, long-grain rice, and tender, juicy meat that melts in your mouth. The Butter Chicken and Mutton Seekh Kebabs were equally delicious, cooked with authentic spices that really give you that Mughlai touch. Even the vegetarian options like Paneer Lababdar and Dal Tadka were flavorful and satisfying.

It's a nice, chill and laid back place. We ordered turkish eggs, vietnamese rice rolls, vietnamese iced coffee and aglio olio with garlic bread. Turkish eggs and aglio olio was very good. The spaghetti was perfectly al dante, with good seasoning. Turkish eggs were well cooked and creamy. The rice rolls are something you can skip. I wasn't a fan of the stuffing. But overall I had a good experience.

Tried a variety of dishes here – nachos, loaded nachos, Mediterranean pizza, quesadilla, Alfredo pasta, truffle fries, and a watermelon mojito. The loaded nachos were the absolute highlight – perfectly made with beans, sour cream, guacamole, and cheese sauce. Truffle fries had a good kick of spice. Pizza was really good, pasta was nice but a bit bland for my taste. Loved the rooftop ambience, cozy vibes (reminded me of the older Mangosteen setup), and the staff was extremely humble, polite, and generous. Definitely recommend this place, especially for the loaded nachos!

We recently visited this café and had such a pleasant time. One of the first things we noticed was that the menu had plenty of healthy options, which was really refreshing. It’s nice to find a place that balances taste with healthier choices without compromising on flavor. The ambiance and vibe of the place were amazing calm, aesthetic, and very welcoming. It felt like the kind of spot where you can enjoy a meal at your own pace, whether you’re with friends, family, or just looking for some relaxing alone time. What made the experience even better was the staff; everyone there was polite, attentive, and genuinely helpful, which added so much warmth to our visit. As for the food, everything we ordered turned out to be really enjoyable. The Aglio Olio Pasta was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of flavor simple but satisfying. The Di Bianca Pizza was another highlight, with a thin crust, cheesy layers, and a very well balanced taste. We also tried the Peri Peri Fries, which were crispy, spicy, and addictive the perfect side snack. To top it all off, the Vietnamese Rice Roll was light, fresh, and packed with flavor, making it a unique dish to try. Every item had its own charm, and together it made our dining experience feel wholesome and memorable. Overall, the combination of good food, great service, and a wonderful vibe made our visit absolutely worth it. We’d love to go back again and would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a mix of healthy, tasty, and enjoyable dining.

22 Aug 2024: birthday dinner for mom with papa. We went for dinner buffet, which is a great price for a fully vegetarian big menu. Rs 700 per person. They bring out so much food that we’re full before the main course. 1. Appetizers: the welcome cocktail was cola based-quiet nice, for snacks were served sizzler: fried corn, noodles and paneer in schezwan sauce, 2 more paneer Indian style appetizers, hariyali kofta. They have a South Indian corner where we got masala dosa and tomato garlic uttpam, there chutneys and sambhar were really good. We also tried pizza, cheese roll and pasta in Alfredo sauce, these were average. 2. Main course: daal maharani: the best, had paneer cubes which added to the flavor, another paneer curry, malai kofta and a mix veg curry. The main course seemed average, except for daal which I loved. 3. Dessert: this was the best experience of the meal there. rose rasmalai was brilliant- couldn’t get enough of it, moong halwa was also good, and mango ghewar was unique. At the end also tried their icecream, their chocolate flavor was the best in recent times. Great place for paneer and dessert lovers. Fully vegetarian buffet , they have Jain food. Ambience was family friendly, the servers were attentive and courteous. The place is huge and beautiful. They have a play area where kids will have a great time. We tried our hands on cricket and archery. A great night out. I recommend this place for everyone.

Banana Leaf is an eatery that showcases the cultural richness of South India through its dishes and service style. The establishment puts in considerable effort to create a homely atmosphere, from the ambiance to the friendly staff. It is highly recommended for those seeking top-notch South Indian cuisine, boasting a courteous team and prompt service. Notably famous for their delectable masala dosa, Banana Leaf takes guests on a delightful culinary journey with authentic flavors and fragrant spices like no other.
Absolutely loved the food here! The Benne Masala Dosa was crispy and rich, the Koorg Idli had a unique and achari flavor in it and the Filter Coffee was the perfect finish. Great service and authentic taste. Will definitely be back!

TL;dr: Your experience may depend on the day of the week you visit this place. Dosa and uttapam was okay, idli and wadai were alright, sheera was unique in itself. Banana leaf has been on my visit list from a very long time. It is located inside the Malhar Mega Mall, and has a very minimalistic ambiance in itself. You're greeted with a very Kannad vibe once you enter through the main door, and the tables and chairs are reminiscent of my time in Bengaluru. The service was a bit on the slower side, and honestly, was such an off-putting thing for me and my friend. Once the food arrived, hands down, this was the most underwhelming dosa I've had in Indore. Inspired by the dosas served in Bengaluru, fluffy from inside, crispy from outside, this was nothing like it LOL. Dosa came along with a side of sambhar (which was really low in quantity, and you had to request again and again for it, combined with the slow service, it kinda bugged me) and 2 chutneys. The idlis were disappointing honestly, we ordered Thatte idli, which was a bit undercooked, and left a sour taste in my mouth. Wadai were pretty small in serving size, uttapam was loaded with oil for some reason. Pineapple sheera was not the sweetest, and had little hints of pineapple in it. Overall, I wouldn't really recommend. My first experience wasn't the greatest, and left a lot to be desired. I'd like to visit again and change this review, if my experience changes anytime, anyday. Thanks for reading!

I recently visited this place and loved their paneer chatpata dosa. It was spicy and tasty. However, the Mix Veg Uttapam was a bit disappointing due to lack of vegetables. The sambhar and chutneys were good, and the complementary paan was a nice gesture. What made the experience even more special was the food being served in a banana leaf. The menu has also been revamped with a plenty of new options added. The service was a bit down, taking around 30 minutes

Banana Leaf Restaurant is a true delight for anyone craving authentic South Indian cuisine. The food is consistently flavorful and prepared with attention to traditional taste and freshness. From crisp dosas and fluffy idlis to aromatic sambhar and chutneys, every dish feels like it’s made with love. The service is warm and attentive, and the staff make you feel instantly welcome. The ambiance adds to the experience—clean, comfortable, and reminiscent of a classic South Indian setting.Highly recommend Banana Leaf Restaurant for anyone looking for genuine South Indian flavors served with hospitality and care!

Banana Leaf is a nice place with good ambiance, but it is quite expensive. The presentation and taste of the food are decent, and it can be considered authentic South Indian cuisine to a certain extent. However, for the pricing, there are better options available. The taste is good, but the experience gets affected. The service was very disappointing. After placing the order, we had to wait a long time, and even then, the staff did not seem to understand which accompaniments should be served with which dishes. If someone does not already have experience with South Indian food, they may not enjoy their meal here because the staff lacks the knowledge and confidence to guide the customer or present the dishes properly. Overall, the food taste was good, but the staff’s inexperience spoiled the complete dining experience.

5% service charge, for cold sambhar and luke warm everything, over ghee in every dish, that too in a small corner with very cold attitude of serving staff. High speed service for faster table turnaround. The names of the items on menu are not in match with actual South Indian dish name, any new person will order something wrong from his side and no staff will be there to help. Unlimited chatni only plus! Lots of better options in Indore!
