Beautiful & amazing place , it was the one of the places I dreamed of Going to
Very overrated. Nothing but this bridge which does actually look quite good on a sunny day, but you can move on after a few pictures. On a cloudy or rainy day, don't even bother. Recommended for those driving through, but you shouldn't go out of your way for this, especially by public transport.
It is beautiful, but seems like it’s a long way to go for a snapshot. Plus, although pleasant, the beach entrance of ¥400pp plus ¥600 parking was steep(although showers were free). Few people seem to have been on to the island itself.

Large, bustling market featuring many vendors selling sashimi & sushi, plus other prepared foods.
Slide 1 of 8
An unexpected lunch date to this fish market. If you love sushi, this is a place to go. So many stalls offering fresh sushi of different types. Some offer treys to let you pick and choose, while other do it for you and some specialize in a specific fish. We waited in one queue for about 10 minutes or so for the tuna specials. Mmmmm sooooo good! So hard to decide and it’s all in your face…LOVE IT! And if you’re worried that this market has the “fishy smell” don’t even. I was fine being in there and didn’t have that stink that many other markets in other Asian countries have. This is a more local touristy spot, which is great because you don’t have those big city crowds. I’d go back if I can! YUM!🍣🍱🐟🐠🍤🐡🎏
If you’re visiting Shimonoseki, Karato Market is definitely a must-see spot.
Fresh and delicious sushi is waiting for you inside. For those arriving by ferry, you can easily hop on a bus or taxi (or even walk, since it’s not too far). But if you’re driving, be prepared—parking can be a bit of a hassle, especially on sunny days when the wait time tends to get long. Most people enjoy their food in the open area right next to the market, but recently they’ve opened a dining space on the second floor. There’s a small fee (I believe it was about 300 yen per person), but on a hot day with nowhere to sit, it’s a very welcome option. Grab some tasty sushi, relax, and take in the view of the peaceful blue sea—you’ll really feel the charm of Shimonoseki!
Karato Fish Market in Shimonoseki is a lively waterfront market famous for super-fresh seafood, especially blowfish (fugu). On weekends and holidays, stalls sell sushi, sashimi, and seafood bowls at affordable prices, making it popular with both locals and visitors. You can buy your food, then enjoy it outside while overlooking the Kanmon Strait. It’s a great spot to taste fresh Japanese seafood in a casual atmosphere.
🐟 Karato Fish Market (Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi) Review Karato Fish Market is one of the liveliest and most enjoyable seafood markets in western Japan. Located right by the sea in Shimonoseki, it offers visitors a vibrant atmosphere filled with the sights, sounds, and smells of fresh seafood. Every morning, local fishermen and vendors display an incredible variety of freshly caught fish and shellfish. The highlight for most visitors is the weekend sushi market, where dozens of stalls sell beautifully prepared sushi, sashimi, and seafood rice bowls at very reasonable prices. You can walk along the pier with a tray of fresh sushi while enjoying the sea breeze and view of the Kanmon Strait — a truly local experience. The market staff are friendly and energetic, happy to explain the different types of fish and preparation styles. There are also souvenir shops and small restaurants nearby where you can try blowfish (fugu), the specialty of Shimonoseki. The area around the market is clean, lively, and easy to explore. It’s best to visit in the morning (around 8–10 a.m.) when the selection is at its peak. Overall, Karato Fish Market is a must-visit for seafood lovers — a place where you can enjoy delicious, affordable sushi, learn about Japan’s fishing culture, and feel the authentic spirit of a coastal city.
If you’re visiting Mojiko, take the ferry across to Shimonoseki on Honshu, where you’ll find the famous Karato Fish Market—a popular spot among tourists. The market is especially known for selling sushi and is only open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. You can buy sushi inside and then enjoy it outside at the many seating areas while taking in the ocean view. The market’s signature specialty is fugu (pufferfish), served as both sushi and sashimi. In fact, the pufferfish is even the symbol of the market. The sushi here is quite affordable, with plenty of vendors to choose from. The taste is pretty good too—not bad at all. The fugu, in particular, has a unique texture: it leaves a slight numbness on your tongue, but it’s delicious.
We went crazy in this market. Great fresh sushi and sashimi with great value. This market is famous for puffer fish and whale. My first experience with whale sushi, it was wild. 22 pieces of sushi with toro, hamachi, eel, sardine, whale with a place of toro and a puffer fish sashimi for below ¥10,000. You can sit and eat by the sea.
This bustling fish market is located a few bus stops away from Shimonoseki station. It's a great place to try out the fresh seafood, which are available at affordable prices. Don't miss out the local specialties such as the fugu sashimi and fugu soup. 🐡
I spent last Sunday morning at this bustling fish market. There were huge crowds, but I spotted a stall with a massive queue, which is always a good sign! After waiting, I got an amazing haul—a ton of fresh, delicious sushi—all for under 3,000 yen. Seriously, what a bargain! When I come back to Kyushu, I'm going to make sure I stay close to the market on a weekend so I can enjoy that incredible seafood on back-to-back days.

Aquarium
Nature & Parks
Modern aquarium featuring many species of pufferfish, a dolphin show & a tunnel tank with penguins.
Slide 1 of 8
If you want to beat the heat and have fun while doing it, this is the perfect place, especially if you have kids! Our family spent the entire day here and around the wharf where the aquarium is located. An aquarium ticket lasts a whole day with the QR code. We were able to go in early in the morning, get some exhibits looked at, pop out for a fresh sushi lunch at the nearby Karato Fish Market, and then pop back into the aquarium to look some more or revisit previous exhibits. The dolphin shows were amazing, but definitely get there 30 min early for seats, and not every show is the same since they change the animals sometimes. Our favorite spot to rest was the sofa area in the corner of the Subantarctic Penguins on B1F. If you get there around 1:00 PM, you'll see angelic light streaming down the tank water which was stunningly beautiful when the penguins would swim and dive with a trail of bubbles behind! There are English translations for almost everything displayed, but no interpreters for whatever the caretakers are saying, but translating apps come in real handy for those times! Definitely recommend going more than once!
It's another aquarium in Fukuoka, slightly small, but each has its strength and weaknesses against other aquarium. If like to see puffer fish I think this place had the most variety in Japan....😲 🐟 Great for fish lover. Not forgetting the std seal n dolphins act..👍
Honestly at 2500 yen per person I didn’t think I’d have this much fun at this aquarium. They had a lot of exhibits and things to do but we just walked around the aquarium and enjoyed whatever they had to offer. Seeing the penguin is honestly my highlight. Definitely worth checking out if you have time after the fish market.
Small aquarium. A place I went to to escape the heat in very hot weather. Just a small aquarium. There are dolphin and seal shows a few times a day, and there is also a fish feeding show. I couldn't find a parking lot, so I parked in the parking lot across the street toward Karato Market and paid 800 yen. Parking fee is too expensive. There is a restaurant on the beach on the first floor where you can eat while looking at the aquarium. If you don't want to go into the aquarium, you can eat ice cream (500 yen) at this restaurant while looking at the aquarium.
One of the main attractions of this Aquarium is the number of puffer fish species they have. It's amazing. The dolphin show was good too.
This was the surprise of our trip. It doesn’t seem to be big from the outside but looks can be deceiving, it has plenty to see for everyone. The dolphin show is the best I’ve ever seen in my life, really impressive. Prices are reasonable and both my teenage boys love it.
It is a must visit place if you are in simonoseki. It is a wonderful place for marine life lover. Main attraction is the penguin and the dolphins show that is held half an hour intervals. It is so beautiful to see. Also there are lots of types of fish also. Coral reef, jellyfish, sharks, sea lion, sun fish are few examples. There is blue whale skeleton also. Overall it is a awesome place to visit.
This is really a beautiful place to see the Beauty of Fish .. It's an amazing aquarium... So many amazing fishes ... It feels like touching them with close. .. The dolphins show is the main attraction i found.. it was an amazing experience there .. Yuko 🍀 and Me ... we had a great time ...

Shinto shrine dedicated to a 12th-century child emperor, with a distinctive bright red main gate.

This Shrine is another place to visit when go to Shimonoseki. It is a walkable distance from the Karato Fish Market. It is not the common design of most Japanese shrines. It has a unique look. Go up all the way to the back of the shrine to see a row of red torii gates. We were not able to go all the way up but it has a good view of the Kanmon area. It is also in this shrine where you can find a cute fugu mail box.
Akama Jingu is a beautiful shrine is located on the stunning Kanmon Straits. The shrine is dedicated to the child emperor Antoku and other warriors who fell during the battle of Dan-no-ura in 1185. The location also provides many other historical locations to explore near by and offers beautiful water front views, and restaurants.
Not many people seem to know the true charm of Akama at night. It may not shine as brightly as shrines in bigger cities, but here in Shimonoseki, there's a quiet, subtle beauty that lingers like a faint scent on the breeze. Under the dark sky, it glows with a deep red hue—soft, yet captivating. There’s no need for noise or lights. Just the sound of the sea breeze brushing past, and the stillness that gently wraps around you. As I strolled through the night, passing by this small yet majestic shrine, I found myself completely at peace— a rare moment to quietly walk, breathe, and simply think. I hope you, too, get to experience that kind of night.
A red-white shrine located close to the sea. The architecture is quite unique. The red & white contrasting color makes a pale pink sakura flower more beautiful. The sea view from the shrine is also stunning.
I visited the jingu at around 1pm, 8 May 2025. There were only a few visitors in the jingu, but there were some construction projects ongoing at that time. The complex is free to enter, and the buildings are brightly coloured in a traditional red hue. There is information about the history of the jingu, its relationship with Antoku Tenno and Hoichi the Earless.
Came to this jinja after a short ferry ride from the Kyushu/Mojikou Port side to the Honshu/Yamaguchi side of the beautiful Kanmon Straits. It's about a 10-15 minute walk from the Karato ferry landing dock. Beautiful red and white structures and s pretty cute of the Kanmonkyo Bridge as you head back towards the street. No fee to enter our to look around, but a gift shop awaits to separate you and your funds. We went on a weekday during the late morning/early afternoon. A nice stop if you are in the area. Recommended!
The shrine is kinda quite shiny and fabulous to us. It is nice to stop by and enjoy the beauty of shrine architecture and decoration.
Great Shinto shrine in Japan. This shrine has sacred atmosphere. Vivid colored shrine buildings are impressive!

Walking from "Mojiko Station (in Kyushu)" to "Shimonoseki Station (in Honshu)" was an amazing experience! I took many photos of the beautiful "Kanmon Bridge" from various places on both the "Kyushu" and "Honshu" sides. I even had the opportunity to walk through the unique underwater "Kanmon Tunnel", which made the entire experience unforgettable! *This walk is approximately 8 km long. Along the way, there are many spots to see, visit, and enjoy; it's a fascinating discovery walk. I recommend it!
Kanmon Bridge is a bridge connecting Shimonoseki City in Yamaguchi Prefecture and Kitakyushu City in Fukuoka Prefecture. It opened on November 14, 1973, and is 1,068m long, and the height of the bridge is 61m from sea level. There are rest areas with good views on the north and south sides of the bridge.
If you are driving pass the bridge, would highly recommend to stop and enjoy the scenery land amazing architecture of the bridge. The stop area was located at Fukuoka prefecture side. Free parking are provided and there are also a restaurant to stop by.
A very beautiful place as well as surroundings. The authority always take of this places which is praiseworthy indeed.
suspension bridge that spans the Kanmon Strait, connecting the cities of Kitakyushu in Fukuoka Prefecture and Shimonoseki in Yamaguchi Prefecture. The bridge is a prominent landmark in the region and is widely regarded as one of the most impressive bridges in Japan. The bridge is approximately 1.2 kilometers long and stands at a height of 47 meters above the water. The view from the bridge is stunning, with the sparkling blue waters of the Kanmon Strait stretching out in all directions. On a clear day, you can even see as far as the island of Tsushima in the distance. One of the best ways to experience the Kanmon Bridge is by taking a leisurely drive across it. The road is smooth and well-maintained, and there are plenty of pull-off areas where you can stop and take in the view. There's also a pedestrian walkway on the bridge, which is a great option if you want to take your time and really soak in the scenery. Another popular way to experience the Kanmon Bridge is by taking a boat tour that passes underneath it. This is a great way to get a different perspective on the bridge and really appreciate its scale and grandeur. Overall, I would highly recommend a visit to the Kanmon Bridge if you're in the Fukuoka or Yamaguchi area. It's a beautiful and impressive structure that's definitely worth seeing in person
Although the weather was not really good, but the bridge is still beautiful and amazing.
Breathtaking views from Mekari parking bay. There's an observation deck. Lovely views, even during winter! We visited on 9 December.

amazing views from the top! and it can get reallyyy windy! costs ¥300 per adult for entrance, and it’s 105 steps to the top - towards the top the steps became super steep too! very interesting visit, after descending there’s a small museum to learn about the history too
It's a bridge between Yamaguchi mainland and Sono island. The view from the observatory was very good. There is one car bay in the middle of the bridge from where the sea can be observed. Be careful about wind when you visit. Recommended place.
It is a must visit place in Yamaguchi Ken. The view around the light house and from the top of the light house is so breathtaking. Make sure to visit on a sunny day. The dark blue and green colour sea is so awesome. There is small musuem as well where is is explain who and how the light house was made.
Nice viewing point but the park is a little over grown, but still clean and presentable. If the brush was trimmed a bit sunsets and ocean views would be much better.
Nice view, allow us to relax
I really love this place! Scenery from here is wonderful and the sea breeze is so comfortable that makes you feel relaxed. Must visit here if you travel in Yamaguchi.
Not a very popular tourist spot but highly recommend if you are in Yamaguchi. The entire island is beautiful and the view from the hilltop where the lighthouse is located is beautiful. I visited in may and it was lovely but should be really nice in the summer months.

Ganryujima/Funashima: In April 1612, this island is known for the duel between the very famous samurai Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro in Japan. There is a bronze statue of these two people in the center of the island, and it is very impressive. Access is conveniently located 10 minutes one way by boat from Karatsu Port.
If you are interested in the history of Miyamoto Musashi, one of Japan’s most well known swordsmen, this is a very notable location. If not, there is not much else to see here. This is the site of one ofMusashi’s most famous duel against Sasaki Kojiro where he used a wooden sword carved from a boat oar to defeat Kojiro. There are some great statues and a few other markers and plaques on the island that have to do with this event.
A historic site easily accessible from Karato Market or Moji Port. I was surprised to learn that it has grown six times as large since the time of Musashi and Kojiro, and that people lived there at one time. It's the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and reminisce. It's great to read while watching the ships passing through the Kanmon Straits. There is also an arbor in the back. The island itself is small, so you won't need an hour to see everything.
Really historical place and fortunately it is not tourist heavy. Entry is via boat from Yamaguchi island. You can learn about the battle between Musashi and Kojiro here. The island very beautiful with nature and trees all around. The statues are also very well looked after.
Still surprising how he won the dual with a wooden sword replica.
nothing life here...only kojiro soul...
(Translated by Google) The official name of Ganryujima is Funajima. No matter how many times I hear it, I can't remember it. My only memory of Miyamoto Musashi is that there was a book about him in my grandfather's library. But I really empathize with and love his spirit: "I respect the gods and Buddhas, but I don't rely on them." It's one of my personal mottos. I'm not generally interested in history or war, so this place might be too good for me. 😅 But it was a beautiful, clear day. The boat ride was comfortable, and the scenery was beautiful.
(Translated by Google) The Ganryujima ferry ride from the Kanmon Kisen Mojiko Port took about 15-20 minutes. I didn't know Ganryujima was actually called Funajima before I got there. It's famous as the site of the duel between Sasaki Kojiro and Miyamoto Musashi, but as a pro wrestling fan, it was also the site of the "Night Death Match" between Antonio Inoki and Masa Saito, and I really wanted to visit. I was impressed to see that the timeline near the statues of Kojiro and Musashi also included detailed information about pro wrestling. The eastern side, where the highlights are, took about 30 minutes to explore. It may be a commonly known story, but I didn't know that Musashi was late (whether intentionally or not) for the duel. Mimosusogawa Park is located across the street from the Shimonoseki side of the Kanmon Tunnel. At first glance, it doesn't look much different from a regular park, but this is a military stronghold and a place where historically important events took place. Emperor Antoku, who became the emperor at a young age, jumped into the sea here in 1185 when he was 8 years old, was pushed by two forces and died. From this point on, the emperor became a figurehead and the shogunate era began. There are bronze statues of Taira no Kiyomori jumping into the sea after losing the Battle of Dannoura in the 12th century, and Minamoto Yoritomo, who won the battle and opened the Kamakura shogunate.
Location of the final battle of the Genpei war. The park is small and narrow and located alongside a very busy road. But the views of the Kanmon strait and bridge are very spectacular. It is entertaining to watch the boats go by. There is a statue commemorating the battle which took place in the strait here. In addition, there was a skirmish here between the Choshu forces and a western coalition in the lead-up to the Meiji restoration. You can see reconstructed cannons at the park. I recommend visiting if you are interested in history.
I sat on a nearby bench for a few minutes to rest. Ships were frequently cruising through the strait. It felt a bit emotional to realize that the land right in front of me was Kyushu. Afterward, I took a ferry to visit Moji.
Mimosusogawa Park is a great spot to enjoy the view of Kanmon Bridge. This park has a few displays of historical wars. This includes a few historical cannons lined up facing toward Kyushu. They also have 2 statues of historical warriors that fought in Kanmon Strait, with the handprints of corresponding actors. Overall, it’s a relaxing park that’s worth a visit if you are in that area. The entrance of Kanmon Tunnel is right next to this park, so you can also consider walking to Kyushu through this special tunnel if you visit this park.
Mostly empty except for few elderly. Wind is strong and you can feel the sea nearby.
Nice place good view, have a story teller to tell the story about Mimosusogawa happened.
It's a nice view of the statues and the background.

They no longer offer a discount for foreign tourists so no need to show em your passport :/. The view here is great tho and the ticket is cheap so if you're in the area, stop by. There's a couple levels to the observation deck but there's not really anyone working them, at least when I went, so you can't do much here.
We were waiting to take the Kampu ferry to Busan and thought the tower looked interesting, so we dropped over, it's right near the port. It was quiet and easy to travel up. The views are fantastic, across the islands of Japan. Highly recommend!
went around 5pm. this place is very quite only one person came after me. 600 yen and you go to 30 th floor to start, then go to 29th ( which they close at 5pm) and elevator go back down on 28th / F you see a 360 view of the city, which is very nice.
Aerial view is perfect . No discount for foreigners anymore but worth to visit if you are in town
Pretty standard tower experience. Part of the big co-op, really enjoyed the views of the islands and water from the observation deck. Daughter enjoyed the stuffed any ufo/gatcha machines. Always a joy to go with very small weekday crowds as well.
The whole building is an observation deck. It was amazing that only the top was not used as an observation deck.
This is so awesome place to visit. It is the tallest building in West Japan. The night view is so beautiful from the top of the tower. There is a corner where couples can tie love lock. Good luck charms and other things are also there. It is a good place to visit with friends and family as well.
A good price to enjoy aerial views of shimonoseki and its bay. They offer 2-hr free parking if you bought a ticket. Not very commercialized as there was no souvenir shop.

I went in spring and it was beautiful, quiet, no people. Apparently, in autumn is quite busy due to the beautiful colourful leaves on the trees.
Kōzan-ji in Chōfu is more than just a temple—it's a key site in Japanese history. Founded in 1327, it's where Takasugi Shinsaku launched his uprising that helped spark the Meiji Restoration. The main temple building at Kōzan-ji is a designated National Treasure, showcasing classic Kamakura-period architecture. If you're visiting Chōfu, this is absolutely a must-see. As I passed through the tall trees lining the entrance, I felt a heavy, calming silence settle over me— the kind that makes you instinctively lower your voice. (That said, as someone who enjoys photography, I did find it a little tricky to capture the main temple building from the approach, since some low-hanging power lines get in the way of a clean shot… haha.)
(Translated by Google) There are many things to see, such as the quaint mountain gate, the national treasure Buddha hall, the bronze statue of Takasugi Shinsaku, and the room where the Seven Elders lived, but as others have posted, I felt uncomfortable with the way the woman who gave me the goshuin stamp treated me. Overall, I think it's a nice place if you don't stop by to get the stamp or the shop. (Translated by Google) Founded in 1327, this temple's beautifully curved roof and Buddhist hall are designated as a National Treasure. It flourished as a place of deep reverence for samurai such as the Ouchi clan, but in 1557, Ouchi Yoshinaga, pursued by the Mori clan, committed suicide in the Buddhist hall, and the temple fell into decline. [Yoshinaga's grave still remains, located about 100 meters behind and to the left of the Mori family graveyard.] In 1602, the temple was restored as the family temple of the Mori clan, and under their patronage, the temple's fortunes grew. It has regained its former glory. During the end of the Edo period, five nobles, including Sanjo Sanetomi, famous for being one of the Seven Nobles who fled the country, stayed here. It is also the place where Takasugi Shinsaku raised an army with only 80 men, and is said to be the birthplace of the Meiji Restoration. From the main gate to the temple gate, tall trees grow abundantly, creating a charming approach to the temple. The area will become even more beautiful during the upcoming autumn foliage season, attracting many tourists. Parking is available in the space next to the main gate and up the slope to the right of the main gate (this will take you to the main hall). By chance, there were not many visitors, so I was able to take my time to worship. (Original) 仏殿が国宝に指定されています。当たり前ですが、古い建築物が残っていることは、喜ばしいですね。たまたま参拝客が少なく、ゆっくり参拝することができました。

I visited in the fall, and as it was a weekday, I was able to take my time looking around. It's beautifully maintained, and the autumn leaves were spectacular. It's about a 40-minute drive away, so it's a little far, but it would be nice to visit it together with the Togyo-an cemetery. There isn't enough space for many cars, but there is a nearby parking lot where you can park for 100 yen per hour by the end of 2025, or perhaps the museum's parking lot would be good? I was drawn here due to the fact I'm British and lived a mere two hours away - it presented quite the novelty after living in Japan for a while. There isn't much to the building itself, with the bottom floor almost empty (although if I recall there is a little bit of info on the history of the place). The top floor acts as a tea room/restaurant offering "British food." I only ate there once, choosing the fish & chips and it was actually pretty good.
Free to visit. With a lot of Peter the rabbit inside. There is even a Valentine’s Day wish card tree inside
You can easily take a look around for free. The rooms are decorated with a lots of Peter Rabbits due to the collaboration event now (04/2025).
it was raining and cold outside, so we decided to stop here and take a break, we didn't really came here for the museum but the building is very "British". the tea set and coffee are not cheap, min 1 order pre customer is needed. I believer they also offer whisky (I didn't notice until we are about to leave)
Interesting place. Their Peter Rabbit exhibition and cafe was really cozy.
Very nice historic building. Great place to have a tea & cake. The staff are all very friendly & knowledgeable . Great place to visit & learn some history.
Kinda Gimmicky. Do not expect anything fancy. Just a chance to see old history.
A nice European spot in the Japanese landscape. Pamphlets and the multimedia explanation was in English. Next time I would like to try the cafe on the second floor.

Visited 29 Mar 2024 Unfortunately the cherry blossoms were late this year, but the view was still nice and the old ropeway was a fun experience.
Took a morning hike up to the top. Beautiful view! I took the main road as far as I was allowed to walk and then took the trail. It’s less than a km to meet the cable car landing, and the path is easy to follow.
A nice little park atop Hinoyama. There is a small gift shop, viewing platform and eating area at the top also. There is a cable car line up to the top, but in all my visits I never used it. The parking is free and offers lots of spots. The view from the top of the mountain is pretty spectacular. You can take in the whole of the Kanmon strait, looking across to Kyushu. You also get great views towards Shimonoseki city and Korea (though obviously Korea isn't visible). There is also what I assume to be an old artillery fort with old bunkers and gun emplacements that you can explore. Quite creepy at night.
Had nothing better to do after Karatto Market and Aquarium. Needed something to do before the Yume Tower, so I tried here. Pretty nice. Good view.
Very peaceful experience. The views are very beautiful. The Shimonoseki bridge and sea was beautiful.
Great view of the sea. A place to relax and take a walk. It also has a playground. In spring you can walk among tulip fields and cherry blossoms.
Nice place to see Mojiko and Shimonoseki area. This also historic spot. It has old cannon and fortress ruins. The road is a little bit steep. Be carefull especially when wet. Really hot area in summer. They have some walking trail. I don't know about public transportation to access this area. Plenty parking area, public toilets are available.
A beautiful park and view!

Huge shrine area with great views of the city. The wharf and strait here look gorgeous on any clear day and the grounds themselves look spectacular. There's some shade and seating in this area and the water ritual is really clean.
A huge shrine with many amusing details. I visited it early in the morning, and no one was there, so it was possible to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of this place without haste. There's a pond with very curious tortoises and a wall with children's paintings near the shrine. The statue of fugu fish is very cute as well!
Quiet, welcoming but we went on a cold day, maybe go on a warmer day as the wind and rain was quite easy to hit this shrine as it’s facing the sea on a hill with no cover. But a lovely little place.
Beautiful and peaceful place
Photogenic power spot
(Translated by Google) It's a relaxing place. There are many pufferfish sculptures. It was a weekday, so there were no tourists and I was able to worship in peace. Goshuin stamps are available in numbers 1 to 11, starting at 500 yen. Special pufferfish goshuin stamps are available on February 2nd and 29th. The goshuin stamp book features a long staircase and Kameyama Shrine. It's a lovely goshuin stamp book. The view of the Kanmon Strait from Kameyama Shrine is also beautiful. If you go on a nice day, the view is spectacular. We happened to be there during a special festival. This palanquin was part of a procession on our way back. In the rest pavilion within the grounds, there's a fuku statue. The pronunciation of fuku is similar to the Japanese word for "good fortune," so it symbolizes bringing happiness. The ema (votive plaques) and amulets are also fuku-shaped.
