When i visited, Fujisan was not visible so the visit was disappointing overall. But the lake area is pretty and well maintained. There are many types of flowers planted and serve as a small consolation prize when Fujisan is not visible. There is a also a souvenir and food shop in the area.

Lake Kawaguchi or Lake Kawaguchiko as I called it offers one of the best and most picturesque views of Mt.Fuji. The lake is like serenity itself with stunning autumn foliage. I highly recommend taking the lake boat cruise that offers 20-minute excursion to the lake. You can have sn amazing view of Mt. Fuji on the boat cruise itself. Lake Kawaguchiko is a gem.

Lake Kawaguchi is a stunning, natural lake surrounded by mountains and hills. The water was very pristine. There is a track and road around the entire lake which you can use for walking. It is also popular for people to hire bicycles to ride around. I found the area to be calming. Mt Fuji can also be viewed from here if weather conditions are good.

Mt Fuji Panoramic Ropeway is a beautiful experience overall, even though today’s visit came with a few drawbacks. The wait time was around 60 minutes, so be prepared for a fairly long queue before you actually board the cable car. Once on board, the ride itself is short but scenic, gliding smoothly over the trees and giving you a gradual reveal of the surrounding landscape and lakeside area. Unfortunately, Fuji was not visible today due to cloud cover, which can be a real possibility depending on weather conditions.Even without a view of the mountain, the top station still offers a lovely vantage point over the city and Lake Kawaguchiko area. The panorama of the town, water, and hills is genuinely beautiful and makes the climb and wait feel more worthwhile. The observation areas are well laid out, with plenty of spots to pause, take in the scenery, and click photos.The ropeway is a good experience if you enjoy views and don’t mind crowds or queues, but checking the weather beforehand is important, especially if your main goal is to see Mt Fuji. On clear days, this ride can easily become one of the highlights of a Fuji trip.

It can get very busy, so buy your tickets in advance. Once you buy a ticket, you will receive a number, which serves as your queue number for the ropeway. My number was 1157 and it took about 40 minutes before it was called and I boarded the ropeway. At the top of Mt. Tenjo, you get a stunning view of Mt. Fuji on one side and Lake Kawaguchiko on the other. It is really worth the waiting time. If you are adventurous, you can also hike Mt. Tenjo since there is a trail leading to the ropeway. I chose to hike going down to Lake Kawaguchiko. It took me about 30 minutes and the trail is beautiful. So my recommendation: take the ropeway going up, then hike going down.

This is very much a tourist thing, and I loved it 🤣 I chose perhaps the worse day of my kawaguchiko trip with rain and mist, and yet the views were still stunning. The ride up allows for a fantastic viewing and only takes around two minutes. Once up there, you have a shrine, love bell, swing and several rabbit and tanuki statues. The store is good value with friendly staff and ice cream is available. On my visit I basically went straight up without queuing, however I have passed (during brighter weather) and the queues can get crazy. For the price it's totally worth doing!

Plenty of things to do here. The cable cart ride itself was short but it's views were immaculate. Plenty of scenic spots with photos to be taken at sunset. Watch for crowds and lines may be long. I'd recommend coming here during early morning on a weekday. Souvenirs are also plenty available.

Came here as part of a tour package. If you are willing to wait for the ropeway up, you can get a fantastic view of Mt Fuji. This is probably one of the best views of Fuji that you can get. However, the wait for the ropeway ride up is really long. Im talking around 1hr 15mins wait and probably another 45mins wait to come down. Its better if you come here on your own rather than on tour because there are time restrictions with a tour group and once we got up there, we only had literally 5 to 10 mins to walk around and see before we needed to come down or we would have missed our tour group departure time.

The Kawaguchiko Ropeway is a great spot to get a panoramic view of Mt. Fuji on a clear day. Unfortunately, I wasn’t very lucky during my visit, and the mountain was mostly hidden by clouds. The ride itself is short but fun, and the viewpoint is still enjoyable with nice scenery around Lake Kawaguchi. I’d love to come back again when the weather is better to see the full view of Mt. Fuji.

We went in Summer Aug 2025. Very nice views, easy and short ride up. We went in the morning 9am+ so no queue at all. The area on top is not big.. just one snack shop and one souvenir shop, as well as the swing. Quite easy walk, so won't take long up there, other than the ropeway queues. There was a very long queue when we came down back around 10am+ We were there a day earlier in the cloudy afternoon 3pm+ and the ropeway was closed due to potential lightning. So do come by earlier if you don't wanna miss this place. No, that wasn't Mt Fuji's ash cloud, just the normal cloud trying to be funny...

I arrived late in the day when Mount Fuji was completely obscured by clouds, having exhausted other sightseeing options, and entered more out of curiosity than expectation. What I discovered was far beyond anything I had anticipated. The admission fee includes access to scheduled musical performances featuring massive automated organs, live opera singers, and grand automated music organ concerts that demonstrate incredible engineering and artistry from a bygone era. What truly impressed me was witnessing the staff’s dedication during closing time, as they carefully maintained and adjusted the numerous antique automated instruments with obvious expertise and care. This daily ritual speaks to their commitment to preserving these mechanical marvels for future visitors, ensuring each performance maintains its magical quality. The gift shop offers an extensive selection of music boxes in various sizes and musical selections, plus unique items like violins. While perhaps not as comprehensive as Hokkaido’s famous Otaru music box shops, the quality and sound of their music boxes are genuinely beautiful and worth considering as souvenirs. The magical climax of my visit occurred when the clouds suddenly parted, revealing Mount Fuji in perfect view from the French village setting. This unexpected moment created an absolutely breathtaking backdrop that had every visitor frantically capturing photos of the stunning combination of European architecture and Japan’s most iconic mountain. The contrast between the French-style buildings and the majestic mountain created such a surreal, picture-perfect scene that it felt almost too beautiful to be real. This destination successfully combines cultural education, musical entertainment, architectural beauty, and natural scenery into one cohesive experience that appeals to visitors of all ages and interests.

This place is just awesome and full of music. Live music events during the day in different halls. I really don’t know how to describe the place , it’s a big museum and shop together all around music. All in one it worth paying the entrance fee - 1500 Yen / pers. At the entrance you’ll receive a leaflet with the music events ( hour and hall ) and I warmly recommend to see them. We saw that there is also a restaurant on site. Didn’t enter so we cannot say hoe it is. If you are in the area and you are a music lover and love to see musical instruments we highly recommend this place. By the way there are o lot of shops with wonderful stuff. We spent there approx 2,5 hours. If you are coming by car there is a huge parking place just across the street , just in front of the museum on the other side of the road. Enjoyyyyyy !!!!

The best museum I have ever been too; however, I am biased since I collect music boxes. The performances were amazing and the self-playing instruments that they had on display were some of the most interesting and biggest I have seen. These machines are all in great condition and have obviously been fully restored. It was amazing to see a skilled opera singer perform with antiques music boxes. This made for a very unforgettable experience and was my favorite part of our trip to Japan. Very excited for my next visit.

Hidden gem of Kawaguchiko! You can make your own music box in the gift shop. If you're in the area, I definitely recommend this place. It will be one of the most memorable souvenirs you will ever have. Also the views of Fujisan were beautiful!

Visited on a rainy day thinking it would be a good wet weather activity but the museum is mostly not sheltered, except the performance halls. Nonetheless, they provided umbrellas that made exploring the museum much more enjoyable despite the weather. I only managed to catch two performances—the opera and organ— and thoroughly enjoyed both. I definitely regret not arriving earlier to experience more of them. The gift shop also has many interesting souvenirs, especially music boxes for a variety of music pieces, from classical to pop or even studio ghibli tunes. I would really suggest setting some time aside to browse even if you don't intend to buy anything. Lastly, the museum was pretty with flowers and photo spots, and I even managed to catch a glimpse of mt fuji despite the bad weather. Would definitely come back again next time!

A must visit for those who likes old pianos and musical instruments--this place has a massive collection. We were able to catch one "Opera" performance and the Opera Singer was really good! You can tour around the place for about an hour, it's quite small. I liked that they have a shop of Studio Ghibli merch! But if you prefer to be with nature, or not really a fan or old organs and recorders, you can skip this.

This was a beautiful traditional village with a fantastic view of the mountains. Unfortunately, we went during rainy season so it was very cloudy that day and we were not able to see Mt. Fuji. However, there are still amazing breathtaking views from the top of the traditional village. The people in the village are so kind and the gifts shops have so many unique items. One shop did take card and I bought a few ceramic sake cups with a beautiful design. There were different areas that had historical meaning and plaques to understand the area better. There were a few vendors at the base of the village that only accepted cash but they sold tasty smelling snacks and other treats. I have already made up my mind to come back when its not rainy season and I can see Mt. Fuji.

This is a quaint small museum village, a real experience like taking a trip back in time. We just loved the place. Loved the traditional Japanese old style houses , it’s just amazing to walk around them. Bu the way they have a school inside the village and they teach art and drawing. I was awesome seeing the kids sitting on the Tatami and drawing in a complete silent. Small boutique shops all around the village. To visit you have buy an entrance ticket - 500 Yen. We also took some pictures of Fujisan even it was a quite cloudy day. Please allow approx 2 hours for the visit. A big parking lot is at 150 meters from the entrance.

A picturesque traditional village that offers an escape from the city to the rich heritage of Japan. There was no queue at the ticketing booth when we arrived at around 1 pm on a weekday. So entrance was smooth and we were able to tour around the area immediately. Each hut offers different experiences and different glimpse from the past. Each hut showcases unique exhibits and activities that offers insights to the way of life back then. It's educational, interactive, qnd fun. The view is breathtaking and the atmosphere is very serene. Sadly, the visibility was poor when we visited, you can only see Mouny Fuji's silhoutte in the background, nonetheless, the village was absolutely breath taking and relaxing.

I'm not normally a fan of recreated things as think they are usually realky fake however I didn't get this feeling here. The village is only about 20 years old but is a replica of the old village. Its done really well and amazing to see the thatched work up close. Lots of varied souvenirs at each house plus a few fruit sellers and food stalls at the entrance. Toilets inside too. Plus if youre lucky great views of Fuji. I came here on a bus tour.

Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato Nenba is a reconstructed traditional village that offers a glimpse into rural life at the foot of Mt. Fuji. The original settlement was destroyed by a landslide in 1966, and the site was reopened in 2006 as an open-air museum dedicated to preserving and showcasing Japan’s cultural heritage. The village consists of thatched-roof houses (kayabuki) now used as workshops, galleries, and small shops. Visitors can observe traditional crafts such as silk weaving, pottery, paper-making, natural dyeing, and hand embroidery, or join short hands-on workshops. Some houses display paintings and calligraphy, others sell local food, miso, sake, or handmade souvenirs. Even on a rainy day, the place has a quiet charm — green roofs covered in moss, narrow paths winding between wooden houses, and the soft sound of water flowing nearby. A very beautiful city to walk around, appreciate Mount Fuji, and learn more about Japanese history and culture. Eating some good udon 🍜 is also a must, I guarantee it's delicious there. This was a beautiful traditional village that was destroyed by a landslide in 1966 and reopened in 2006 as an open air museum. There were a few vendors at the entrance. This place is a must.... Sit, relax and enjoy the view

This is a beautiful park. I love the well tended gardens. We came during autumn and was delighted to see the fiery kochia bushes in spectacular bloom. The backdrop of the lake and mount fuji really made this park a very popular destination for tourists and locals alike. The whole park is so well kept and clean. Oishi Park has long been the go-to viewpoint of Fujisan...and for a good reason. It really does offer a spectacular view of Mt. Fuji as it towers over the landscape. It also offers a decent view of Lake Kawaguchiko. The only downside is the high influx of tourists throughout the day. The place is always crowded. If you are like me who wants to enjoy Mt. Fuji without the hustle and bustle of the park, try biking around Lake Kawaguchiko and you'll find a more peaceful place to bask in the glory of Mt. Fuji. Trust me, there's a lot of perfect spots along the lake. I'd encourage you to discover it yourselves. 😉

Oishi Park exceeded my expectations. The park is extremely well kept, with seasonal flowers blooming everywhere and an unbeatable panoramic view of Mt. Fuji right in front of you. I visited Oishi Park in Kawaguchiko, and it was a very pleasant experience. The park is well-maintained, clean, and offers a beautiful view of Lake Kawaguchiko with Mt. Fuji in the background. Such a beautiful place to see Mount Fuji from the waters edge, behind their flower field and heights from the cafe. It is quite busy here so it does get quite hard to move around but they make up for it with lots of places to take pictures. The ice-cream here is amazing and they have so many flavours to choose from, our favourite being their grape selection! This was a incredible experience! The building and gardens were amazing to explore and the exhibit was beautiful. Highly recommend visiting if you are in the area. Photography is not allowed inside the exhibit area, but is permitted in the gardens. Also it is closed on Tuesdays so just keep that in mind when planning your visit.

Sorry, but I think it’s a waste of money to come here since it’s a bit pricy for what I get. (unless you like kimonos🙂) They have more souvenirs shops than art pieces. And you can’t take photos when see the arts and kimonos. They also have 2 sort of cafe inside. Cute, touristy, probably much better when it's not cloudy. I was particularly disappointed that more than half of the grounds were dug up soil with no flower beds. We went during the week so it was quiet with not a lot of people. They must use this time to prepare for the next season. Understandable, but strange since they are advertising the season in flyers at local shops. We visited October 10th, three days before the supposed end of season, and it was, unfortunately, underwhelming. I can see it being great under the right circumstances, but it was only okay for us for our visit.

It's a beautiful place to see flowers and have a walk around. Even when it's cloudy and you can't see Mt Fuji, it's a great place to visit, even with kids. Take a trip into a lava cave. No actual lava involved. There are ice blocks. Temperature is 0*C to 3*C in the cave. It has been used for cold storage of silk worm cocoons and seeds. The stairway down is uneven, but not dangerous if care is used. It is not a very long distance into the cave. Basalt and cooled lava are readily viewable. The store at the beginning of the path has corn ice cream. I highly recommend trying it with a bit of salt.

Crossing Kawaguchiko Ohashi Bridge by bicycle is an amazing experience. Nice and relaxing walk. The air smells of urine but don’t worry it’s just sulphur from the volcanic deposits 🤣 I was a bit nervous because of its background story but there was nothing creepy. The ice cave was a bit low so be prepared…good to collect helmets from the entrance. Floors to the ice cave and wind cave are slippery, stick to the mats. Successful completed all the hiking routes with a five and nine year old.

This was a magical visit! The forest is mesmerizing, the vegetation is quite unique. It is at the bottom of Fuji mountain, so it frequently snows. There is an amazing serenity as it is deep nature and you only hear birds every so on. I personally don't recommend straying from the paved trails too much as it is very easy to get lost and there is poor connection on site. I had to climb a few hills to get reception, but I was still losing my north. A compass would be a good idea! Don't fully trust the paved path, it becomes overgrown and also flooded due to the snow sometimes. There are wild deers around that may cross your path, which makes the hike even more magical. Get there if you are adventurous enough.

Did anti-clockwise loop trekking(not too deep but just surface of the Aokigahara forest i believe). It really has some place easy lost as path missing & direction confuse but so far manageable although i loop inside for finding correct path almost 10-15min. Most flat road and easy to walk but only some confusion inside the wood. So far very enjoyable route but don't encourage newbie doing it. And doesn't feel very creepy as sunny day but it really almost empty and you walk alone inside the forest. i only saw 3-4 people at the whole trekking in 3hours. p.s. ✔️The forest is called the suic.i.d.e forest, somewhere on the way in there is a warning sign advising and asking to leave the phone number of relatives. Along the way there are existing pink or red ribbons tied to tree branches to guide the volunteers bring them back to their families. ✔️This area also has a road built by Subaru company that cars drive on it, it will create a sound to welcome to Fuji. It is really good rhythm. The mechanism to create this sound is the design of the road surface when the wheels grind down, it will create a musical note and create a piece of music. The path is nice and easy to walk. The wind Cave and Ice cave were really nice even tho most of the ice was already melted, yet you could see a lot of ice. And the caves are so cold, you should prepare for that! I believe the density of the trees are much higher deep into the forest.. the path is really fine and regular forest. Kinda wanted to witness the ropes everyone keeps talking about, beside trees you really see nothing. You should stay on the path otherwise you can get lost really easy!

Together with the lake as the foreground, it makes a picturesque shot! Best time to come will be sunsetting time. One do not need to rent a car to come here. Just take the blue line bus. For me, its a MUST to come by if you want to take a great shot of Fuji mountain! Don't miss this spot!!

精進 lake is the smallest one of the five-lake of Mount Fuji. The watchable view of Mount Fuji from this lake is merely the upper head part. However, if you rent a car and want to drive along whole nother lakes, this 精進 lake is still worth to stay. I heard that this lake is good to fish, I will try is next time.

According to the tourist information center this is the best spot for scenic photos. You get a nice view of the mountain with the lake. This is also where some of the buses stop. The center itself also has your basic amenities along with a place where you can sit down and eat with a nice view of mt Fuji.

Great place for a walk, has loads of flowers, the view of kawaguchiko lake, and Mount Fuji. The store has loads of interesting trinkets and Japanese snacks. Bit expensive in Japanese standards, expected nothing less from a tourist destination. BUT they offer lovely ice creams and a great view upstairs — overseeing the lake, the flowers and the distant but clear view of Mt. Fuji

A great place to stop and view Mt. Fuji. There are lots of souvenirs and snacks to buy too. It can get very busy with tour buses. The local Red Line bus runs from here every 15 minutes (stop 20) and you can take back to Kawaguchiko Station.

Today, I brought my guests from Izu, driving along the Ashinoko Skyline to Lake Kawaguchi. Unfortunately, it was cloudy, but we were able to catch a glimpse of the summit of Mt. Fuji. Before heading back to Tokyo, we had a relaxing time here at Oishi Park, enjoying the flower fields.

Nice place with a great view. No admission fee or charges but they do have a good variety of souvenirs and food items. We bought coffee and ice cream, found a seat outdoor and was enjoying ourselves in the garden. This location has an awesome view of Mount Fuji too. Many photo spots and there are a lot of tourists too. A good place to spend half an hour in. And slightly more if you want to have a drink or an ice cream.

It’s very cool learning about how these caves were formed over thousands of years from the volcano. It’s probably not the best place to go if you’re claustrophobic. You’ll be squatting and walking for some distance. It’s cooler in the cave which was an amazing break from the blaring sun. Tickets are 350 yen and we were in and out in about an hour since we checked out the free museum (all in Japanese) and gift shop. The museum was interesting to learn about the fish conservation acts in Lake Seiko. Very helpful gentleman helping us during our time here despite the language barrier.

This is the largest cave in the area, with multiple levels. There is a decent amount to see and learn about, and the free nature center attached to it makes it worth the visit. Inside the cave there is some signage in English, and some in only Japanese (no internet to translate either). There is a path that is easy and accessible, and an optional path with tunnels so small you almost have to crawl through them, which added to the fun factor for us. More importantly, this area connects to a large network of trails through Aokigahara, an enormous old-growth forest that is breathtakingly beautiful. We used this cave as the starting point, then walked through the forest to the nearby Wind Cave (about an hour walk taking our time). There are maps all around and the trails are very well maintained and easy to follow. Taken as a whole, this was a really amazing day and well worth doing.

Nice site with a short walking trail leading to the cave. The cave itself has very low ceilings in several passages, and one section even requires crawling on your knees to get through. This part is not for everyone, but it can be skipped—though doing so makes the overall visit quite short. The main reception building , offers a unique exhibit featuring local fish as well as vintage Batman series posters. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Overall, worth a visit if you are nearby.

Located in Aokigahara Forest near Lake Saiko, the Saiko Bat Cave is the largest lava cave formed by the eruption of Mount Fuji in 864 AD. The cave extends approximately 386 meters in total length and features several chambers and corridors with varying ceiling heights. It is part of the “Fugaku Wind Cave – Narusawa Ice Cave – Saiko Bat Cave” trio of lava tubes, all created by the same ancient lava flow. The cave’s name comes from the bats that used to inhabit it, primarily the Eastern Bent-Wing Bats. However, the population has significantly decreased due to temperature fluctuations and human activity, and the cave is now mostly a geological site rather than a wildlife habitat. Inside, visitors can observe fascinating natural formations such as lava ledges, lava shelves, and diatomite layers, which indicate the prehistoric water levels of the ancient Sea of Se-no-Umi. The cave’s temperature remains around 10°C (50°F) throughout the year, making it cool even during summer. Illuminated pathways and safety railings make the route accessible, though some passages are narrow or require bending down. The cave tour takes about 15–20 minutes, and informative signs in Japanese and English explain geological features.

The bat cave is really cool and it's kind of nice to be able to go in a cave on your own and walk around. Please be mindful of the bats and quiet while you're walking around. You do have to get pretty low in some spots so definitely make sure you're wearing your helmet and be prepared to maybe get on your hands and knees. It is a little cold in the cave but it's nice in the summer. There's a bus stop out front and you can easily walk to the other caves from here

A very nice cave inside a beautiful forest (actually part of Aokigahara Forest) that offers a standard route and a more difficult one. We, of course, decided to follow the more challenging one. It was worth it! We could walk over a petrified lava flow and other caves that supposedly host bats (we didn’t see any).

Worth a visit. The cave is beautiful, as is the surrounding forest. The cave path is really fun to do, but it has a very low ceiling in some areas, so requires appropriate clothing & footwear to enjoy. They provide safety helmets, but I was glad to have shoes with a grip on.
