Oshino Hakkai is a picturesque village located in Oshino Village, Yamanashi Prefecture, between Yamanaka Lake and Kawaguchi Lake. The village features eight ponds known as the "eight seas of Nunye," which are fed by melted snow water from Mount Fuji. This natural filtration process results in cool and pure spring water that has been revered for over 1,200 years.
This area seems very magical and surreal. The traditional houses are well preserved and nicely maintained. The clear water in those ponds and creek are very calming. It is a very popular tourist destination so there are many loud and annoying tourists as well.
World E — Google review
A very special indeed museum village which is an UNESCO World Heritage site. The village has 8 ponds which are considered sacred to the pilgrims who go to visit Fujisan. On a perfect day you can see the best views of Mount Fuji from the village. There is no entrance fee to visit the ponds and the village. Also a great Market is at the entrance to the village on the right side. Against a fee of 300 Yen we visited also the Hannokibayashi Folklore Museum. I personally recommend 2 hours for the visit. If you are coming by car a lot of parking spaces are near the entrance ( 200 - 300 meters by foot ). On the road from the parking spots to the main village entrance are a lot of tasty foos stalls. We ate some tasty fried baby octopuses, some Wagyu Skewers and some super tasty donuts. Jump over if you are in the region. It worth it.
Robert R — Google review
This place was beautiful and amazing to visit and experience. Even though it was a cloudy day, the spring waters were clear and beautiful. This place stays crowded, but you can escape that. Many places to try snacks and foods. The souvenir shops had a lot of good items. You can purchase fruits and many local foods. Their are walkable areas to enjoy some quietness. If you can book a group tour, it's better.
Natasha F — Google review
Beautiful place but very crowded with tourists. It’s better to visit early morning. Very comfortable to walk with your pet there. There is souvenir shop and food seller, I’ll recommend to try their mugwort rice cake and japanese peach tea.
Diva A — Google review
Very cute village and lots of vendors. However, some Chinese tourists were acting absolutely crazy over the water fountain to taste the spring water. They brought 5L water bottles to fill up the water and did not follow the line as they didn’t want to wait their turn. In that sense, the experience was terrible but nothing against the village. It’s quaint and beautiful.
Shiona D — Google review
Oshino Hakkai is definitely worth a visit! A beautiful traditional village with charming old houses, delicious local snacks, and crystal-clear mountain spring water you can drink. From here you also get stunning views of Mount Fuji, which makes the place even more special. A peaceful atmosphere combined with history and nature – truly a must-see when in the Fuji area.
Ricardo S — Google review
★★★★★ Oshino Hakkai is a peaceful and picturesque village with crystal-clear spring water and stunning views of Mount Fuji. 🏞️✨ Each pond is so pure that you can see every stone and fish at the bottom. The surrounding traditional houses, waterwheels, and small shops selling local snacks make it feel like stepping back in time. A perfect spot for photography, relaxing walks, and enjoying Japan’s natural beauty. Visiting early in the morning or on weekdays is best to avoid crowds.
Crystal H — Google review
Very nice area with plenty of shopping and food options. Village atmosphere with some modern touches. Crystal clear water ponds. The water actually comes down from Mt Fuji. Parking was only 300 yen. Nice place to stop at if your in the area.

Additionally, the main building's shop sells freshly harvested local highland fruits and vegetables alongside locally brewed sake, ready-to-eat condiments, and souvenirs. The area also provides splendid views of Mount Fuji while offering restrooms and many local food options.

Came here to say on 13 Oct 2025 to rest for the night in our RV. The rest stop was pitch dark at 9pm. Toilets was a little dirty compared to other Michinoeki. There is a construction work being done here though it was quiet at night. For those that prefer a bigger and more vibrant michinoeki, may want to skip this till the construction is over.

Nestled in the serene forest, Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine is a Shinto shrine complex featuring traditional wooden structures and stone lanterns lining the paths. Situated at 1,450 meters above sea level in the Kiyosato Highlands, Kiyosato Kogen Hotel offers luxurious rooms with breathtaking views of Oku-chichibu, Minami Alps, and Mount Fuji.
Very beautiful Shrine. The 1000 years old tree are so awesome. It will be even more beautiful on Autumn when it turn all the leaf in yellow. It took me 1 hour walk from Shimoyoshida Station but enjoy the journey very much. The shrine are quite and peaceful. Highly recommended.
Joey T — Google review
We chose this location on a day trip through the Fuji area because of the peaceful beauty of all the surrounding trees. It was very calm with a feeling of being a special place in nature. It's a less busy spot and less about seeing Fuji at this location. There are shrines and statues to view too but our favorite part was the nature. If you love a beautiful secluded nature spot then this is a great place for you to visit! If your main motivation is to see Fuji or just shrines then this may not be your favorite location.
Karliegh S — Google review
If only I would check that this is beginning of Yoshida trail… I would start my journey from Shrine, instead 2 days before we started from Subaru 5th station. shrine is lovely place surrounded by old cedar trees. Very refreshing in hot summer day.
Andris L — Google review
We discovered the shrine totally by accident, without realizing its significance as a holy site and a spiritual trailhead for pilgrims looking to ascend Mount Fuji. We saw a wide woodland path from the road and decided to park up and go down it. After maybe 200 yd, we came to a peaceful stream, a bridge, and a huge wooden gate leading to the shrine complex. The gate is the largest of its kind in all of Japan. The shrine is still very active, there were people here praying and paying their respects- both employees and visitors. All the structures throughout the shrine had informative plaques in Japanese and English explaining the significance and how to properly pray here. Sometimes you visit somewhere and you can just feel the significance in the air, and this is one of those places. We were able to wander around the entire place at no charge.
Oliver W — Google review
Our tour guide recommend this spot. Less crowded then other tourists spots. Not worth going out of your way for. Nice for aome pictures, but other shrines look similar. Make a wish before you leave.

The tranquility is felt in this temple area. The trees are incredibly large. Some of the smaller temples have been restored beautifully. Love to spend more time sitting in the grounds. Worth a visit to get a feel for the shinto belief system

Beautiful, peaceful shrine in an amazing town. It’s a decent walk from the Fujisan train station, but that also helps keep it less busy and much more enjoyable than other areas. You can really spend some time to appreciate what is here without feeling like you need to walk in and out.

Arakurayama Sengen Park is a picturesque park known for its stunning views of Mount Fuji, a vibrant five-storied pagoda, and seasonal cherry blossoms. The park's iconic landscape has been featured in various media and is a popular spot for capturing the beauty of Japan. With its majestic shrine and breathtaking scenery, it's no wonder that this park is considered one of the best places to view Mount Fuji in the Fuji Five Lakes area.
Gorgeous scenery when you make it all the way up to the outlook area. The walk can be tough, definitely prepare for the weather because you will get extremely hot climbing the 400+ steps up the mountain. Japan humidity is insane. Felt so lucky to see Mount Fuji so clearly on this day.
Shiona D — Google review
This was my second time visiting this place. This time, I went by bus with a Japanese co-worker who kindly arranged the transportation for us, allowing us to experience the scenic ride to the area. The location is quite elevated, so I recommend visitors be prepared for some uphill walking. Doing regular physical activities like jogging, walking, or running beforehand can definitely help you handle the climb to the observation deck more comfortably. We visited in June, and the number of tourists was noticeably lower compared to the peak months of March and April, making for a more relaxed experience. There are public toilets and a drinking fountain (faucet-style) available in the area. You might notice warning signs about bears and monkeys, though we didn’t encounter any during our visit. There’s also a small restaurant nearby that serves ramen, karaage (fried chicken), and sells souvenirs. A good spot to rest and enjoy a meal after the climb.
Leo V — Google review
Going up was like hell. I’m not that fit, and those stairs really destroyed me. I had to catch my breath with every step I took. But once I got to the top, the view was absolutely mesmerizing. There was a big cloud covering Mount Fuji at first, so I waited and waited until the sky finally cleared. I’m glad I did, because after putting in all that effort, I didn’t want to just stare at clouds, lol. In the end, I’m really happy I made it up there and got to enjoy such a beautiful view.
Laloena A — Google review
Amazing view specially if Mt. Fuji shows during your visit. Always crowded so having a good photo without photo Bomber is hard to get. Note: No Entrance Fee but long hard walk. Not suitable for little ones. You need to climb the 398 stone steps to reach the top of the shrine for better view. Drink lots of water . Perfect time to visit: spring and winter

Iconic view of Mount Fuji and Chureito Pagoda! Arakurayama Sengen Park is breathtaking, especially during cherry blossom season. The iconic view of the red Chureito Pagoda with Mount Fuji in the background is unforgettable and perfect for photography. The park is well-maintained, peaceful, and offers a lovely walk up the stairs with scenic spots along the way. A must-visit for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone wanting the classic Mount Fuji experience!
J _ — Google review
It is an absolutely amazing park. It’s located on a mountain where you got to see the Mount Fuji and the town below it. The tourists are all well mannered, queuing for their turn to take photos at the observation deck.
Wen M — Google review
Incredible views of Mt Fuji from different views between the trees, above the pagoda, and around all the people🤣🤣🤣 climb up the 500 steps and take your time. Stop every 10-20 steps and look back to see if you can see Mt Fuji.

Beautiful park with an amazing view, Fuji-San was shy when we were up there. The climb was a bit steep for stairs but totally worth it. We took so many photosbut without Fuji-San 🥲 ! Highly recommend for anyone who loves photography or just wants a great view.

Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway

Mountain cable car
Transportation
Tramways
The Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway offers a thrilling cable car ride that takes you to Kawaguchiko Tenjozan Park, where an observation deck at 1,075 meters provides breathtaking views of Mt. Fuji and the Southern Alps. The 3-minute ascent treats visitors to unobstructed panoramas over Lake Kawaguchiko, with the added bonus of colorful maple foliage during the autumn season.
The Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway is such a fun and scenic experience! The cable car ride takes you up to a viewpoint where, on a clear day, you get an incredible view of Mount Fuji. Unfortunately, it was super cloudy when I visited, so we didn’t get to see Fuji in all its glory but that’s just how Mother Nature works sometimes! At the top, there’s a small food and ice cream stand. I totally recommend grabbing some ice cream, especially if you’re visiting in June when it’s starting to get hot. There’s also a swing you can ride for a small fee (I believe it was around 500 yen) a fun little bonus if you're into unique photo ops. If you keep walking past the main viewing area, there’s a higher spot that gives you even better views and more photo opportunities. Just be careful it gets pretty steep and hilly, and if you’re not paying attention, it’s easy to slip or lose your footing. Overall, even though I didn’t get the perfect view of Mount Fuji, the experience was still really cute and enjoyable. Definitely worth a visit!
Elba P — Google review
Overall it was a good experience, however they could manage the boarding a bit better. We had to wait 10 minutes to go up, which was fine, however on the way back we had to stand around 15minutes in sun and around 30 overall. Unfortunately we didn't have a good weather, Mt Fuji was clouded, but there was a stunning view over the lake and good panoramic view. They serves food ( you could purchase it ) and there were vending machines however drinks were from 300 Yen
Włodzimierz B — Google review
Great experience overall. Depending on the weather it can be a complete different story for sightseeing the Mont Fuji. I stayed at Kawaguchiko for several days. The second morning the bad weather left for a few hours. I went to buy tickets a second time right at the opening of the shop, even though there were already people, I didn't have to wait for the lift. I only waited 30 secondes to buy the ticket at the vending machine. Be careful of the timing, when I left, there were so many people waiting for the lift, I guess the last ones had to wait for at least 30 minutes before taking the shuttle and the weather was hot. Since we had a very cloudy weather for a long time it was easy to guess everyone would jump on the occasion for taking good pictures of Mont Fuji, before leaving for another city. There are several activities up there. If you have a lot of time, I believe there is also a trail. It says on the signs you need 6 hours so watch out for the last shuttle, and this is at your own risks. I went to check a little bit. On the track I met several people going back to the crowded main spot but then after maybe 2 minutes there was no one anymore. I stayed close to a small shrine for about 15 minutes. You can still see Mont Fuji and landscape from the forest. The peace and the wind between the trees felt amazingly refreshing. You could still walk for a long time, but I decided to go back downstairs and enjoy my day an other way.
Paul — Google review
Decent place. There is a ride up on an aerial cable car with windows from all sides. They let a limited amount of people on per ride so you're guarenteed to see a great view. There are unfortunately just 2 cars so to get on/off is a bit of waiting in line in the sun. On top there are swings that face Mt Fuji and can be mesmerizing. There was one working telescope, and a little store selling snacks and drinks. The ice cream was fantastic. It was a perfect fit for the trip up. There is also the legend of the mischievous usagi (rabbit) with stories setup before boarding, and a shrine at the top. The main part is the view of Mt Fuji... it unfortunately depends on the weather. It is a great location to see the mountain but when we went, the peak was covered with clouds. We only saw it on our flight. You also get a good view of the theme parks below.
Kris R — Google review
This Mt. Fuji viewpoint is beautifully landscaped with authentic Japanese-style flower gardens. Every corner looks picture-perfect, offering a stunning mountain view. It’s a pity that the fog was thick today, so we couldn’t see the peak of Mt. Fuji.
Panuwat P — Google review
This was a good experience but the queues were insane. Maybe because it was a holiday weekend, or maybe it's like that all the time. The views from the top are amazing, but after taking a few pictures I got back on line to go down. It was a two-hour experience which 1 hour and 45 minutes was spent standing in line. The ropeway is less than 10 minutes riding up and down. If you want to explore or wander, be careful of bears. The line does not get shorter.
Sheldon J — Google review
Not worth it if you can trek for 45min. It’s very crowded and can take up to an hour in the quene for a 2min rope way. The views could be nice but it’s a hit or miss. Try to go towards the right end of the rope way as you can’t see the mt Fuji anyways The trek is worth it with great views. The way is marked and you can’t get lost.
Anish K — Google review
We went in Summer Aug 2025. Very nice views, easy and short ride up. We went in the morning 9am+ so no queue at all. The area on top is not big.. just one snack shop and one souvenir shop, as well as the swing. Quite easy walk, so won't take long up there, other than the ropeway queues. There was a very long queue when we came down back around 10am+ We were there a day earlier in the cloudy afternoon 3pm+ and the ropeway was closed due to potential lightning. So do come by earlier if you don't wanna miss this place. No, that wasn't Mt Fuji's ash cloud, just the normal cloud trying to be funny...

BRAND NEW DAY is a cozy spot that offers delicious pizza, fresh croissants, and good coffee. The interior and exterior of the building are tastefully decorated, providing a great atmosphere for dining or just enjoying a cup of coffee. While some menu items have changed over the years, the stunning view of Mt. Fuji remains a highlight for visitors. Although the food and drinks may be slightly pricey, the quality and ambiance make it worth it.
One of the best coffee in Japan so far. With the most beautiful view of Mt.Fuji and a very good cupnof coffee and baked croissant at the temperature of 7°C. This made my day! The shop is clean and very good designed.

Beautiful cafe with a view of Mount Fuji if you are lucky and the day is clear. Ambience inside the cafe is amazing, and we ordered the espresso soda and dessert sandwich. The prices are slightly high for what we got but can understand due to the view and area that the cafe is located in.

Food was ok but quite on the expensive side for pizza. Service was starbucks level so not really that accomodating but also not rude. So probably that is why its only 3/5 for service. The view and the atmosphere is 5/5 because it was really relaxing and looking at mt fuji made it!

Average ramen and pork cutlet set. The pork is tough n tasteless. The ramen is salty too. Wouldn’t patron again unless no choice.

Quaint restaurant run by elderly staff. Great service for whatever they could manage. Prices are not expensive and reasonable for a tourist area. Their Oyako Don was fantastic although he prepared to wait as for a large restaurant they were staffed by largely elderly folks.

Udon noodle restaurant
Yoshida Udon noodle Togawa is a popular udon spot located in Fuji City, Yamanashi Prefecture. The restaurant offers both hot and cold udon options, reflecting the Japanese culture of enjoying udon in different ways. Visitors can easily navigate the menu by taking a picture with their smartphones and indicating their preference for hot or cold udon. The shop provides reasonably priced small and regular sizes, catering to different appetites without causing wastage.
Didn't think much at first but was curious to try and it didn't disappoint! Very good udon noodles and you can add condiments to your liking such as homemade spices. There are two size options, small and big. The small one is sufficient, same siE as the refularsizes you find in other restaurants. The big size on the other hand.... you might need to go on an empty stomach! But seriously, I recommend this place

Exquisite Udon with a great flavor kick and self-service toppings to tailor the spice level to personal preference. Laid back atmosphere and conveniently located right next to the train station. Great service and English menu with pictures to guide. Great vegetarian tofu udon.

Conveniently located at Fujisan station, the Udon here is delicious. The Udon noodles is chewy. The broth and ingredients were tasty. You can add a vairety of condiments like tempura bits. Glad I read the one star reviews which seems to be unrelated to the excellent food and service here.

I tried the chicken udon, and it was really good and served in just one minute. The large portion is more than enough, so if you're not very hungry, go for the small one

This restaurant has a space at Very casual style Japanese fast food restaurant calls food court. Inside shopping building next to the Fujisan station. Under ground floor, pretty old building and tables aren’t very clean compared to Japanese standard but good place to eat quickly with under 1000¥ Udon noodle is very unique here so try it!

Best place in town! No seriously, this place is great, the staff is super friendly (they saw that my nose was running and brought me some tissues), the food is amazing AND you get a lot for what you pay. Also, they have a buffet-like table with toppings and stuff to add on top of your meal - for free!

Nice yoshida style udon shop inside a food court at reasonable price. There are 2 sizes of udon available (small and regular) so you don't have to worry about wastage. Convenient to visitor who come by train.

Hamburger restaurant
This rustic restaurant serving Australian-beef hamburgers offers incredible service and delicious burgers. The burgers are some of the best in the area, and worth a trip even if you're not staying nearby.
Burgers were awesome! Good prices, great service, great food worth the wait. Lunch time was busy so make a reservation if you can :) there were 7 of us and the food came all together which was perfect.

The only thing I don’t like about this place is we got there 5 minutes before it opens (10:55am) and didn’t get in the door for 50 minutes as the line was so long. I suggest getting there at least 15 minutes or more before 11 am or waiting until after 12:30 pm when the rush is over. I love the food, there are so many hamburger choices and the hamburger is like the good hamburger places in the US. They also have nachos and I would definitely get them again. It’s a dog friendly restaurant also.

What a cute place! We went just on 7pm when they were closing at 730 and they were happy to have us. All the burgers you would expect were there. We ordered pineapple burger, chicken burger and onion/gorgonzola burger. All were huge and fresh with yummy fries. We also ordered a scrumptious plate of onion rings. I really liked their choice of drinks from beers to DrPepper to milkshakes. If you’re one for decor, you’ll love the cabin feel supported by great music. We’d definitely recommend!

Super cute restaurant! The atmosphere was laid back and they had nice American hits playing in the background. We sat in the room with lots of golf related items. The shakes were tasty and everything seemed to be freshly made. The food itself was a bit bland for our taste so we added salt and pepper to our burgers and fried chicken. Overall, great experience! There’s a bit parking lot though I have seen the restaurant very busy on the weekends with a line out the door so I’d advise visiting on a weekday or off peak hours on the weekend.

Cozy place and food came rather quickly. Had chilli cheese burger and buffalo hot chicken burger. The buns for the burgers were soft and light. Meats were just right.

Fantastic spot for food, really welcoming staff, and tasty food. The only grievance I had was that the ingredients weren't listed on the tablet menu, which you use to order from. It was on the physical menus, but it was easy to miss. The food was remarkable though despite this, and I would happily recommend this place to anyone, especially if a few tweaks are made to the menu.
Jack B — Google review
Huge and delicious burgers with plenty of toppings to choose from. The very small order of fries that came with the burger were not the most exciting! We had to wait about 30 minutes for a table which was not too bad. Very efficient ordering system - you order from a computer pad at your table. We noticed that the Japanese customers ate their burgers with paper wrapped around them - we guessed it was to prevent the juices from the burgers getting on their hands - quite clever since the burgers are quite juicy!
Shawna D — Google review
Great food in what seems to be the middle of nowhere on the backside of my Fuji. This has classic western vibe. Playing top 40 pop music of the USA. Feels like you are working out with the hits. The atmosphere is super relaxed and the theme of the building is Canadian. They have a bunch of Japanese golf thrown in too. The onion rings where good they came out out and fresh and quick. We also had fries 🍟 that were crispy. The main event was the burger and it didn't disappoint. I had the deluxe it literally seems like it had everything in it . It has egg 🥚 and avocado 🥑 and bacon 🥓🥓 and cheese 🧀 and two patties. It was cooked perfectly not over done or raw. You didn't want to stop eating it.. they have several local beers 🍺🍺 here to from the area. They went well with the burger. We alos had the cheese burger and the avocado burger.

Amusement park
Water & Amusement Parks
Theme Parks
Fuji-Q Highland is an amusement park located near the base of Mount Fuji in Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi. It's a popular destination for thrill-seekers with its impressive collection of rides, including Takabisha, the world's steepest roller coaster, and other famous coasters like Eejanaika, Do-Dodonpa, and Fujiyama. The park also offers two haunted attractions - Hopeless Fortress and the Haunted Hospital.
Must-visit place for Naruto and rollercoaster fans. It was my first time in the rollercoaster and it was terrifying, but still fun 🤣 Naruto fans will have more than enough content to have fun with. Food is good, but a bit expensive considering the amount of it (still normal as it's amusement park) There are FREE tickets for just walking in, one-enter tickets and one-day tickets. The paid ones allow you to enter all attractions for free, but you still have to wait in the queues if you don't have priority pass for specific attraction.
Sebastian T — Google review
This is my 2nd visit to Fuji-Q Highland, and I was worried about how the day would pan out as my last visit was atrocious! However, let me say that today was a very pleasant surprise! I paid for the priority entrance, which gets you into the park 30 minutes early (which is massively worth it). Head for the big coasters first - Zokkon and Fujiyama, as they get the biggest queues! They have a lot of great attractions, but make sure you read the opening times of all attractions as some things do close at 1.30pm and some open later in the day. They do have a detailed maintenance schedule on their website, but the opening and closing times did catch me out on my last visit. Also, attractions will close early depending on the queue times (for which they make announcements around the park), so make sure to plan everything you want to ride in time. There are vending machines next to each ride to buy fast passes, which is handy at busy times! The food stalls in the middle of the park are great, I had the Indian food which was lush. They are well-priced, too. There are lots of vending machines all around the park. There are at least 5/6 gift shops with lots of cool merchandise. There is also a 7-Eleven outside the park! Great for fussy eaters or cheap snacks! When visiting, make sure to plan ahead and get there early for a head start as when it's busy, it can be very unorganised and stressful.

We went on a Monday in late October, and it wasn’t too packed. At most we waited an hour for one of the big roller coasters. If you are looking for a park with some of the best roller coasters ever then this is it! We loved Takabisha so much, it was scary and exhilarating all at the same time! Eejanaika is going to mess with your mind, all its twists and turns. But there are other great rides too, a special mention needs to be made for Tondemina (La pizza) ride that was fantastic. This park is filled with thrills. We had the Fuji pizza which was great. As a tip, the all day pass lets you re-enter, we went back to our hotel then returned at night, well worth it. I’ve read reviews that say the safety checks take a while and they do but honestly I was glad for it. Was it worth the money? Absolutely! I’d love to go again on a clear day when I can see Mt. Fuji.
Kyle W — Google review
Amazing rides - better than any other amusement park i've been to. They lack the intricate themes other amusement parks have (e.g., Disneyland) - more bare bones adrenaline rush. And they are very good at this - rides are so fast and frenzied that it's actually important to listen to the instructions and maintain the posture they tell you to have. They require emtying all pockets before boarding rides, and also remove glasses (they didn't even allow using goggles). They have free lockers at each ride. There are some vegan options in the food court (vegan ramen and curry). Amusement park food, not bad but not good either. there is also a Starbucks with some vegan snacks and vegan lattes. When we were there the lines were very short, so we would probably could have done without the priority tickets we bought. But I read and heard that in most times the lines are very long, and priority passes are recommended. We bought everything in the fuji Q website - if the site crashes, try turning off the google translation - it worked for us.

Visited Fuji-Q Highland in May 2024 and it was amazing! The roller coasters like Eejanaika and Fujiyama were absolutely thrilling. The park was clean, staff super friendly, and the view of Mount Fuji made it unforgettable. Lines can be long, so go early or get a fast pass. A perfect mix of excitement and scenery — totally worth it!
A A — Google review
We went on a Autumn Thursday so there weren't that much lines! We were able ride all the rides that were open that day. They closed some down pretty early like the pizzala and the paniclock. I think Dodonpa closed down. However, the must-try rides for speed and thrill that are usually open are Fujiyama, Takabisha (the vertical drop was amazing), Eejanaika(fast and fun), and Zokkon. The Naruto village was a great place for me since Im a Naruto fan!
Ian F — Google review
Awesome theme park, Free entry pay per ride. 2000 yen for most expensive rides, Short wait time for rides wasn’t busy atoll rain or shine. The rollercoasters seem to stop in the rain though so keep that in mind. Food in park great and has a Starbucks. Highly recommended
Al G — Google review
This is also one of my favorite places. You can visit it all year round because the atmosphere changes with each season, which I really like. Even though I’m not a big fan of amusement parks, this one is okay. There are cafés, food trucks, and gift shops inside. However, the food and drinks are a bit expensive, so make sure you’re okay with that — you can also bring your own drinks. If it rains, most of the rides will be closed, but there are still other things to enjoy, like the haunted house, which I especially recommend.

Lake Kawaguchi Maple Corridor is a picturesque spot near Mount Fuji, known for its stunning maple trees that turn fiery red in November. The area hosts the Kawaguchiko Autumn Leaves Festival, where the illuminated leaves create a magical nighttime display. While it can get crowded during peak foliage season, venturing further out offers a quieter experience to admire the vibrant colors of the maple leaves. This destination is perfect for nature enthusiasts and photographers seeking beautiful autumn landscapes.
Went there on Autumn around 14th of November 2024 and the trees have started changing to red. The weather was perfect, just cool breezy enough. The food stands there are delicious and must try! The view is also amazing.

Very popular destination for fall color views. We came on Nov21 and there were lots of splendid colors around. And it was crowded. However beyond the canal corridor, the crowd thinned out quite abit. If you are willing to walk ~20min, free parking is available near the 711 south on the main street. Best to come early for these limited lots.

Last year, I visited this place and would give it 4 stars. It’s mainly for those who enjoy peaceful sightseeing and the stunning beauty of the momiji (autumn leaves). While there isn’t much else to do, I still recommend it because the atmosphere is incredibly calm and serene, and the momiji are truly breathtaking. If you’re planning to see the autumn colors at their best, I suggest visiting between mid-November and early December.🤍

Would be a nice spot but we’re too early (5.11.2025). If you walk up a few minutes, the trees there are already turning bright red. The corridor might need 2 more weeks

Great little spot for photos. A number of places to eat nearby. If you get some time, yoh can even take a range of boats on the lake.

This Japan trip had a special highlight—visiting here during the Maple Leaf Festival. When I arrived, the maple leaves hadn't fully bloomed yet, but with a mix of green, yellow, red, and orange, the colors were even more vibrant and diverse. There were many people taking photos, so finding the right angles to avoid the crowds was crucial. You can walk all the way up from here, and the maple trees along the way are beautiful, perfect for capturing stunning shots. The atmosphere here during the day and night is completely different. In the evening, after taking photos and waiting for the sunset, the place lights up, creating a unique and enchanting ambiance. The festival market is lively, offering plenty of delicious food. After filling your stomach, you can go back to capture the nighttime scenery.

Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine is a Shinto shrine featuring a 5-tiered pagoda and an observation deck that provides stunning panoramic views of Mount Fuji. While the shrine itself may not be the main attraction, the surrounding area offers a serene atmosphere with simple streets, parks, and a small city overlooking Mount Fuji. Visitors can savor local specialties like the delicious Fuji Palace fried noodles available in sauce or salt flavors.
Beautiful place. Mount Fuji can be seen very well from here, because the temple is much higher than the plains. The temple is very interesting to see. Everyday, many visitors come to visit this temple. Paid Parking 🅿️ available ✅

Absolutely stunning view point. It’s beautiful at sunrise. I imagine a little nicer than sunset only due to the direction of the sunrise. It would be beautiful to see with a snow capped mountain. Let’s of stairs to climb, but the payoff is worth it.

Sensō-ji Temple is absolutely beautiful. The atmosphere walking through the gates and along Nakamise Street is unforgettable — vibrant yet still spiritual once you reach the temple itself. The architecture is stunning, and the surrounding area is full of history and culture. Definitely worth the visit!
Janine C — Google review
Absolutely stunning view. It's no coincidence that it's featured in many a travel photographers profile or book about Japan. It took us underneath a quarter of an hour to get to the top - theoretically, as you almost reach the top there's a queue waiting for the viewing platform. It's very crowded, not all people are friendly and polite and the whole experience is at the beginning (depending on your arrival time) a rather stressful one. But the views make up for it, no matter the time of day or the time of year. Photography advice: 16 to 24mm for the grand vista shots, up to 70 for details. Tripod is possible if wanted, but mind some people bumping into it. Theres facilities, the locals try the best to keep them clean, which is unfortunately not so easy as it seems.
Thomas P — Google review
One of the most famous locations for photographing Mount Fuji, this shrine sits in a residential area with narrow streets and extremely limited parking. If you drive, expect to pay very expensive parking fees, and there are absolutely no free parking options nearby - don’t come expecting to park anywhere for free. After the steep shrine climb, the real challenge begins: over 300 steps leading to the park area where you’ll find the famous pagoda viewing deck with Mount Fuji in the background. The climb is quite strenuous, so come prepared physically. On clear days, you can capture absolutely stunning photos, but if clouds obscure Fuji, the trip becomes pointless. Note that restroom facilities are poor quality. The iconic shots are worth the effort and expense, but check weather conditions first and budget for costly parking.
Minwoo K — Google review
Lovely, and the view from the top is breathtaking (weather permitting). There are a lot of stairs to the top so be mindful. Do avoid the toilets located near the food stalls as they might be Japan's dirtiest.
Ys D — Google review
The most beautiful view to the Fuji mount, but you have to have lucky, the most part of the time is cloudy and you won't see it!
Élito S — Google review
Really nice view. The climb is a little tough, there is a slope you can use instead of the stairs, if need be. Highly recommend going there before 9:00. Before that there is no cue, after that the cue is long and you are given limited time to stay and take pictures before you are pushed out to let others see the view. You can also get the Goshuin (500Yen) stamped on your book when there is no cue (takes a long while to make), otherwise, later they will only give it to you printed out on paper.

Chureito Pagoda, located in Arakurayama Sengen Park, offers an iconic view of Mt. Fuji and is a popular spot for capturing picturesque photos. Accessible via 398 steps, the pagoda stands behind the five-story structure and provides a stunning backdrop of the mountain. While it can get crowded during cherry blossom season and autumn, visiting in February may offer a quieter experience with fewer visitors.
What a special spot! We hiked all the way up to the totally overcrowded main pic spot and then somehow had it in us to keep climbing. So glad we did!! Just a little higher up and there were next to no people and much more space to enjoy the view. Awesome little food trucks and lots of restaurants to explore at the base. There is a great little booth selling pictures and little souvenirs. All cash! I can’t even imagine how beautiful this area is in peak cherry blossoms. We were on the early side of season and nothing was in bloom here yet. Most people seemed like they were there on a tour, they got lucky it was a clear and sunny day. Just the day before was snowing and completely cloudy. We came over for the day from Hakone by taxi which was on the expensive side but so so worth it. We wanted to have the flexibility to come on a clear day and it turned out to be the best move all trip!

Chureito Pagoda: Great Effort, Small Reward The visit to the Chureito Pagoda is a classic example of excessive effort for an insufficient payoff—unless, of course, you luck out with the perfect day. The frustration begins immediately: an exorbitant parking fee of 1,000 JPY is demanded on almost every street corner, giving the feeling of being squeezed by tourists even before starting the climb. Next comes the exhausting ascent up hundreds of steps. This is a significant physical effort that certainly leaves visitors with high expectations for what awaits them at the top. But to great disappointment, the pagoda itself is not particularly impressive. It's nice, but it hardly justifies the arduous climb. In fact, the entire experience hinges on visibility: If you are lucky enough to have a clear, sunny day where Mount Fuji is revealed in all its glory and perfectly frames the red pagoda, then the picture is worth a million yen, and the effort is justified. However, if you arrive on a hazy, cloudy, or simply low-visibility day, the whole experience turns into a waste of precious time and energy. Bottom Line: It's only worth visiting if you are absolutely certain that the visibility to Mount Fuji's peak will be perfect.
Yariv K — Google review
I went at 5:30am in the morning thinking the crowd wouldn't be so bad. There definitely was a crowd there to see the iconic view of the pagoda and Mt Fuji. But the crowd wasn't too intense. Majority like minded "travellers". Too early for the mainstream tourist and influencer wannabes. The next time I think I would go just before daybreak and watch the sun rise over the majestic mountain. If you're thinking about taking the stairs up, it is a bit of a hike up, so be prepared. Don't be ashamed to have a stop and drink some water. There's a toilet at the top as well. And if you want the trail continue into the mounting going to the other side toward Lake Kawaguchi.

Chureito Pagoda is one of the most memorable places we visited in Japan. The climb up the stairs can be a bit tiring, but the view at the top is absolutely worth it. Seeing Mount Fuji framed behind the pagoda feels almost unreal. It is a place full of beauty and peace, and definitely something to experience at least once in a lifetime.
Slavi T — Google review
On our trip to Japan, my wife really wanted to see Mount Fuji from this top rated location. Not many people know that there is a dedictaed website that shows visibility level of Mount Fuji and provides hourly updates. We took a bus from Tokyo (Shinjuku station) to Chuodo Shimo Yoshida station and walked to the pagoda to see this stunning view. The walk to the entrance of pagoda is about 20 minute and then up to the pagoda is another 15-20 minute hike but definitely worth it.
Rushi G — Google review
We arrived at 715am on a cloudy October Tuesday morning. The pagoda is surrounded by beautiful forest, the observation deck serves to give you that magic photo with the pagoda and Mt Fuji behind it. We didn’t see the mountain today but it was still a beautiful sight. There is quite a walk to get to the pagoda up stairs or going around a winding path. There were signs warning you about bears (we didn’t see any) and there were hardly any people at this time of day. You can bring your dog for a nice walk too if you like. Parking is available, it seems you must pay for all or most of them but it’s worth it. It’s sad we didn’t get the ‘magic’ shot but it was a peaceful walk in a lovely area.
Kyle W — Google review
I first visited there around April — it was really nice. The cherry blossoms were beautiful, and the weather was perfect. After that, I went back a couple more times. But when you walk up the stairs, it can be a bit tiring, so make sure you’re ready. As some advice, wear something you can easily take off if it gets too hot, and don’t forget to bring some drinks with you.

Hoto noodle restaurant
Momijitei-Hoto is a cozy restaurant with stunning mountain views that offers a variety of noodle bowls and tempura combo meals. The hoto noodles are particularly praised for their delicious flavor and perfect texture, especially on cold days. The menu includes options such as Hoto Fouto, Udon noodles, and Soba noodles served in soup or cold. Diners can also enjoy side plates and dishes like black sesame tofu with soy sauce.
I stopped by for lunch today, and food was out of this world. I got the traditional beef houtou, and it was super tasty. Having been out on the bike in the cold and rain, this was needed to warm me up. The ambience at the restaurant is lovely, and the staff are incredibly polite and helpful. Menu is in English which makes it easy to order. Will go back again for sure!!!

This is a definite must-visit restaurant near Mt. Fuji. It's especially great for large families—finding a place to eat for my family of 8 can be tough, but this spot was perfect for us. The hoto here is so good; we loved the beef hoto and the mushroom hoto. The shrimp tempura was also delicious. We came at 10:30 AM and had no trouble getting a table, but by 11:30 AM it was completely crowded. Pro-tip: arrive before 11:00 AM to avoid the long wait!

We had delicious hoto and soba, and the staff and other patrons were all so amazing and friendly! Everyone helped us figure out how to properly enjoy and combine all the various dishes and sauces. We loved this restaurant!

Delicious soup and excellent karaage! The two of us shared the order since we were not particularly hungry yet wanted to try the traditional noodles of the area before moving on. Definitely recommend the hearty and tasty soup. The noodles were also very delicious with a slight bite to them. The soup had potato, mushrooms, sliced fried tofu and other vegetables. There was obvious care and generous hospitality in the food. *I've uploaded a current menu. Thank you very much for a very delicious meal that we both enjoyed immensely!

We ordered the beef houtou and were pleasantly surprised. The noodles were wide and flat, and the texture could be compared to a softer, slightly chewier version of lasagna pasta, cut into slices. They had a gentle sweet taste and complimented the umami / savory taste of beef soup very well. Service was quick with the staff all very helpful and attentive. Overall, the meal was hearty and satisfying, and combining with the warm service and cozy atmosphere, makes it a perfect choice in the chilly winter.

Great meal to enjoy on a rainy day. First time trying Hoto noodles and it definitely did not disappoint! Loved the chewiness of the Hoto noodles and the broth accompanying it was rich and hearty! Had the shrimp tempura meal set , Beef Hoto meal set and karaage chicken. Generous portions and decently priced. If you’re looking for a hearty meal, and not a tourist trap, this is your spot.

Great vegan “mushroom hoto”. Ordered the set, which includes some small side dishes and rice. Extremely filling, you won’t leave hungry that’s for sure.

The friendliest staff, heartwarming comfort food, and perfectly chewy udon—this local gem near Mt. Fuji is the ideal stop when exploring Kawaguchiko. We go back again the second day in Mt Fuji, not sure if the owner remember us, he gave us 2 KitKat when we leavin the restaurant. Definitely will go back this store when I visit Mt Fuji again. 💙

This place is a local joint, looks like the locals come here for a quick lunch too. They have sesame condiment, and provide tempura fried bits to add on top of the soup. First time eating horse meat. (Which is their only meat option). I think this is a good option, if around the area. Turnaround is quick, no long queue.
Keith T — Google review
was looking for food nearby to our hotel, the staff were very friendly and the food was affordable. the menu was handwritten, the large sized udon was HUGE. so i think most ppl shld just get the regular size cuz my friends couldnt finish the large bowl. we made conversation with the owner and he kindly gave us some mandarin oranges!!

I ended up in this place after taking a wrong turn and I am so happy it happened! I was treated like a star, I think I was the only non-local person inside. I got a table all to myself, seated Japanese way, and enjoyed a local bowl of Yoshida-no-udon, horse meat noodles. They were delicious. The place is very simple, but clean and the staff was incredibly friendly. After paying, they made sure I could find my way back to the train station and gave me a cool gadget as a "thank you" for being their guest.

Had some time to spare before my bus at Kawaguchiko and was looking for something local before running into this awesome shop that was full with customers! They serve udon and the only meat I saw on the menu was Horse meat udon. Hearing most customers ordering that hence I got one too. Recommended, udons are handmade and very springy! Food gets served super fast upon ordering.
Shaun Y — Google review
The udon here is great, thick and chewy. For those who dont eat much should just order the regular bowl instead of large. Portion of udon is alot. Be prepared to finish the side ingredients and left with lots of the udon noodle. Overall taste is great but can be boring for some who craves for many different sides to eat with the udon.
Zong N — Google review
Friendly and helpful staff with cheap and tasty Udon. English menu available. What do you want more? Nice and traditional location as well. Already ate some of the udon to the picture is not the nicest xD

Simple menu but simply delicious. Almost all locals. Go early or else the wait is really long. If you can’t read the menu just choose what the person next to you is eating.

Restaurant Konami is a highly recommended dining spot, especially for foreigners due to its proximity to other restaurants. The portions are generous and reasonably priced, and most importantly, the food is delicious. The menu offers a variety of options such as hotpot with noodles, pork katsu curry rice, roast pork with rice, ebi tempura tonkotsu unagi set, gyudon, and more. Despite potential wait times due to its popularity, the fantastic food makes it worth it.
The food is very nice, comes in big portions, and is priced generously. I am a tourist and I have visited this restaurant every time I visit Kawaguchiko. There is a waiting area and clean toilets. In terms of seating, there's a tatami option and there are also tables and chairs. The restaurant offers a brilliant view of the Mount Fuji especially in daytime. 🗻 I would love to come back again.

Tried 2 set meals both are delicious, especially the way the yamame and pond smelt are fried. Seems to be constantly crowded but no big issue waiting inside after filling names in a list. Nice interior decor and spacious dining environment. Good overall dining experience with a moderately extensive menu.

Mount Fuji, the iconic snow-capped peak and volcano, is the highest in Japan and the 7th highest island peak on earth. Yamanashi Prefecture, home to Mount Fuji, offers a serene escape from Tokyo's hustle and bustle. Visitors can explore the picturesque Fuji Five Lakes, Kiyosato highland resort, historical temples like Erinji and Kuonji, rejuvenating hot springs, and renowned wineries.
Definitely recommend hiking fuji. The sunrise is amazing and though a challenge it’s worth the rewards. And you get to stand on top of Japan at 3776m Quite crowded during August and not too easy to book the mountain huts but you can always join a tour
Kevin K — Google review
A Journey Above the Clouds Climbing Mount Fuji (3,776m) is more than a hike — it’s a test of will and wonder. From the 5th Station, the trail starts easy with cool air and ramen stops, but soon turns into a battle of endurance as the air thins and the slopes steepen. The night climb was magical — stars overhead, headlamps snaking up the mountain. Reaching the summit at 4:30 a.m. to witness Goraikō, Japan’s sacred sunrise, was pure awe. The descent? Slippery and tough, but the sense of achievement made every step worth it. 🌅Unforgettable. Humbling. Beautiful. My trip is started end of August , start at night for sunrise, layer up, and pace yourself.

Breathtaking and unforgettable experience! Seeing Mt. Fuji in person is truly magical. The view is stunning from every angle, especially on a clear day or during sunrise and sunset. Whether you visit the 5th Station, Lake Kawaguchi, or view it from afar, the scenery is peaceful and awe-inspiring. It’s a must-see landmark that captures the beauty of Japan’s nature and spirit. A perfect spot for photos, hiking, and unforgettable memories!
J _ — Google review
A reminder that Mt. Fuji represents strength, resilience, and enduring character, similar to the steadfastness of the mountain itself. A spiritual symbol of spiritual growth and enlightenment, a national symbol of Japan's strength, and a source of artistic inspiration.

Don't underestimate this place, some may so it's a walk in the park but it's not. If you're not fit, you will suffer, especially if you plan on ascending and descending on the same day which is what I had done. I do a lot of walk and hike but this was the first proper mountain I had ever climbed. It wasn't so much of my fitness that was an issue, but rather, the altitude sickness. And yes, altitude sickness is real! About ⅔ into the climb, I started feeling the affects of it. For every few steps I went up in elavation, I kept stopping because I felt like hurling. Eventually, I threw up three times, at three different stages of the latter part of the climb. My companion on the other hand, who had never done this let alone walking or hiking, didn't suffer a bit. So it does differ in affects, from person to person. But having said that, do stay overnight and acclimatise for God's sake, as it will make the climb more pleasurable.
Tajul I — Google review
The gorgeous Mount Fuji! Blessed to witness this volcano peak on a clear day. One can never be tired watching this view the whole day.

It was an amazing experience! View at the top will take your breath away and is totally worth the eight hour hike. We took the Subashiri Trail and stayed at Tomoekan. Enjoyed the nature, plenty of blue sky and the feeling of walking on cloud, literally. Highly recommend of you are considering this. To optimize your experience , highly recommend you work out and prep yourself physically well enough before the climb.

Visiting Mt. Fuji is a breathtaking and unforgettable experience. Seeing this majestic peak in person feels truly magical — its beauty shines from every angle, especially at sunrise or sunset. Whether you’re admiring it from the 5th Station, the shores of Lake Kawaguchi, or from afar, the scenery is serene and awe-inspiring. A true symbol of Japan’s natural beauty and spirit — perfect for photos, hikes, and lifelong memories.

Fugaku Wind Cave is a 201-meter lava tube located at the base of Mt. Fuji, featuring unique geological formations and stunning ice pillars. Originally used for storing ice before the era of refrigeration, it now stands as a national monument within Aokigahara. Visitors can also explore the nearby Narusawa Ice Cave and enjoy a picturesque walk between the two caves.
wind caves were cool and it wasn't as long as we thought. if you stop and and read everything, then MAYBE it would take you 20 minutes to get through it, with kids. it's very neat looking and awesome atmosphere.

Take a trip into a lava cave. No actual lava involved. There are ice blocks. Temperature is 0*C to 3*C in the cave. It has been used for cold storage of silk worm cocoons and seeds. The stairway down is uneven, but not dangerous if care is used. It is not a very long distance into the cave. Basalt and cooled lava are readily viewable. The store at the beginning of the path has corn ice cream. I highly recommend trying it with a bit of salt.
Llama R — Google review
Although brief, it’s a fun experience, especially in summer when it’s hot outside. A 10-minute walk through the cave offers a cool, windy, and refreshing escape. There’s also a bat cave and an ice cave nearby that are worth checking out.
Upasana P — Google review
Cheap but cheerful cave experience amongst beautiful naturescape. We visited in autumn. Short steep climb down to cave mouth. Cold so prepare accordingly. Approx 15min round trip. Nearby is Ice Cave (30min by foot, 2min by car) - can purchase combo tix on the day. Definitely recommend walking on the beautiful trail.
Alex C — Google review
Just down the road from the Narusawa Ice Cave, the Fugaku Wind Cave is another must-see spot in the Fuji Five Lakes area. This naturally formed lava tube stays cool all year, with temperatures around zero degrees even in summer, perfect for a quick escape from the heat. Inside, you’ll see displays showing how the cave was once used to store silkworm eggs and seeds, along with impressive ice pillars and rock formations. The walk is smooth and easier than the Ice Cave, making it great for families or anyone wanting a calmer underground experience. The site is well-maintained, has clear English signs, and offers free parking nearby. A short, cool, and educational stop, best enjoyed together with the Ice Cave for a full Mount Fuji lava cave adventure.
Tyrone H — Google review
Fugaku Wind Cave is an interesting lava tube formed over 1,000 years ago by an eruption of Mt. Fuji. Compared to the nearby Narusawa Ice Cave, this one offers a wider and more comfortable passage, allowing for an easy and pleasant walk through its cool, dark interior. Inside, the temperature remains around 3°C year-round, and during the Edo period the cave was used as a natural refrigerator for silkworm eggs and seeds. The visit takes about 15–20 minutes, and buying a combined ticket for both caves is convenient and recommended, as they complement each other perfectly. What I found most captivating were the walls covered with vivid green mosses and lichens, their color strikingly contrasting with the glossy black lava. Interestingly, these plants grow even in the deeper parts of the cave, where artificial lighting allows them to photosynthesize, creating a mysterious and almost surreal atmosphere.
Anna K — Google review
Great lava tube, far too crowded with people on a hot day, too loud from children, and to slow to move through with girls taking selfie pictures. I recommend the bat or dragon caves for less people and to enjoy the spaces.
Logan D — Google review
The Fugaku Wind Cave is a fun place to visit if you can physically handle the walk and crawling in some cases. The entire trip involves walking up and down many stairs. Make sure you pick up a helmet at the entrance to protect your head if you are not a short person. The cave is fun to watch if you know you can handle it physically.

Narusawa Ice Cave is a small lava tube cave located near Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchiko in Japan. It features pillar-like ice formations during the winter months, reaching as far as 21 meters underground. The cave was formed by the eruption of Mt. Nagao in 864, which hollowed out vast underground caverns.
An incredible experience visiting this place. I went during the summer, and although it was scorching hot outside, the temperature dropped drastically as soon as I entered. Even though the cave isn’t very deep, the difference in temperature was significant. The route wasn't very long either, but it was enough to make me shiver from the cold
Fireflies 9 — Google review
Ice cave is wonderful to get away from the hot weather. I was worried by their maps that made it look like we could run into a room with water or fall down a tunnel, but the handrails kept us on path. It is a short 20 mins but be warned the stairs and passages are steep, wet, and can be slippery. There is one narrow and low ceiling passage of about 20 feet. There is a couple of places with low ceiling to duck down. I would not recommend this if you have mobility problems and a couple of sections gets dark. There are bars to hold onto but one bar seemed a little wobbly. You can use one of their free helmets but there were only 5 total helmets there— there was one other group of 3 people at the cave while we were there and they didn’t have helmets so not sure if the facility only has 5 helmets for all visitors. There is one section that has the ice to see on the left and right. When we went, there didn’t seem to be as much ice as other people’s pictures. It was cool to see the natural ice formation and not something I would go out of your way for, but if you are in the area and interested in geology then drop by. They also had clean restrooms.

Cheap but cheerful cave experience amongst beautiful naturescape. Visit during winter to see ice pillars. We visited in autumn & signs pre-warned ice pillars had melted, so we knew what to expect. Still went for the experience! Steep but short climb down 21m. Cold, so prepare accordingly. Watch your head for low hanging rocks. A short section where we had to pretty much crawl through - a unique experience! Take as long as you like, but approx 10min round trip. 1.4km trail walk (30min) to Wind Cave - can purchase combo tickets. Well worth it for something different and a bit of a nature walk. But you can also drive there.
Alex C — Google review
A unique and memorable stop near Mount Fuji. The Narusawa Ice Cave takes you through narrow lava-tube tunnels with impressive ice formations that stay frozen all year. It’s short (so take your time and make the most of it) but fascinating, about a 20-minute walk through chilly, dim passages that feel like an underground adventure. It can be slippery and tight in spots, even a section to almost crawl, so wear good shoes and a light jacket. The staff are friendly, and signs are available in English and Japanese. Great to pair with the nearby Fugaku Wind Cave for a full experience. Easy to access by car, plenty of parking onsite and leading into, or local bus, and well worth the visit if you’re exploring the Fuji Five Lakes area. There is a gift shop attached where you can also purchase food items. We also visited the Wind Cave, this experience was a little more comfortable, ticket entry can be purchased for both caves at each site.

Narusawa Ice Cave is another place I visited during my trip to Mt. Fuji. Visiting this ice cave offers a great opportunity for physical activity and exercise. I'm glad I can handle it. The Narusawa Ice Cave is not particularly impressive. However, it's fun if you have a whole group of friends who can go together.
Michael W — Google review
Although short, the ice cave is a unique and refreshing experience. Even in summer, it’s cold inside, and the crouching and squeezing through narrow passages to go deeper makes it all the more fun.
Upasana P — Google review
Located in the Aokigahara Forest at the northwestern foot of Mt. Fuji, Narusawa Ice Cave is a small lava tube formed about 1,150 years ago during one of Fuji’s eruptions. The temperature inside remains around 0–3°C throughout the year, allowing impressive ice formations to persist even in summer. The walking path is short — about 150 meters — leading down a narrow, slippery tunnel with solidified lava walls and a distinct chill in the air. Two main chambers display preserved ice: one illuminated with soft blue light, the other protected behind metal bars. A full visit takes around 10–15 minutes, and while it’s interesting from a geological perspective, the experience can feel brief — essentially a short descent to view the ice and back. It’s best to buy a combined ticket that includes Fugaku Wind Cave nearby, for a more complete and rewarding visit to the Fuji Five Lakes Geopark area

Onsen - Fuji Yurari Hot Spring

Looking at Mount Fuji from an open-air hot spring is a tranquil experience that can help ease the stress of travel. The facility has excellent views of the towering mountain, so you can soak away your troubles and still feel like your trip was worth it. There are three baths with Mount Fuji views, and two of them are open-air. Driving to Fuji Yurari is a steep uphill journey, but the onsen itself is worth it for its peaceful surroundings and therapeutic hot springs.
Be sure to set aside plenty of time for your visit. After paying the entrance fee, you can enjoy unlimited access to the onsen. Additionally, you can dine at the restaurant or unwind in the relaxation zone. For extra privacy, a private room with Mt. Fuji view is available for 2,800 yen per hour. Don't forget to bring some coins to get a bottle of milk from the vending machine. It's a charming and traditional custom.

A little pricey, I thought at first. But then I realized it was definitely worth it! It cost 1,700 per person. Towels are included in the fee; there’s shampoo, conditioner, body soap, shaver in the baths. Not only is the view of Mt. Fuji great from the outdoor bath, but it was also so fun exploring the different baths they had - from the mist sauna and cave bath to the carbonated onsen and fragrant baths. Not sure if they change the herb in the fragrant baths, but it was lavender when we went, my favorite flower! Tattoos aren’t allowed, but no one’s checking and most people don’t mind nowadays as long as it isn’t too big and intimidating.
ARBN — Google review
Relaxing & authentic hot springs, lots of baths (indoor, outdoor, hot,, warm, cold, etc) and dry/steam saunas. Down to earth vibe without the glitz or glamour. Can definitely spend hours in the facility, with a restaurant and rest areas and a couple massage and body scrub offerings. Private bath areas also available to rent. Nothing says Japan like a hot soak with a great up-close view of Mount Fuji. Can get crowded on holidays and weekends.
K R — Google review
Amazing experience, they pick you up from the station and drive you directly to the onsen. Do be aware that mount Fuji is not visible all the time, we were lucky but there is no guarantee. The food they have in the restaurant is not that expensive and the massages are soul healing. The cool thing is that for everything you just scan your bracelet and then pay when leaving so that is really handy since you don't have to have money with you and can just enjoy the trip.
Aleksandar L — Google review
A popular Onsen often visited by both locals and tourists exploring the lakes around Mt. Fuji. The outdoor bath offers a stunning view of the mountain. The on-site restaurant is cozy, comfortable, and has a wide-ranging menu.

Couldn’t go to the spa facilities as it is all naked and I have tattoos but stayed at the restaurant and chill area. Restaurant is nice with many food options, self ordering and super fast delivery. Views to Mount Fuji aswell ☺️ you pay everything at the end and can also use lounge chairs to chill. Would just say staff at reception could be nicer.

It was an amazing experience overall for a first time user like me. Unfortunately, it was raining all day today in October and Mt Fuji was covered by the clouds so i couldn't get the whole enjoyment. Staff were very accommodating. Place was clean. Products after bath are also available. Highlight: Mayumi-san's massage was amazing! Im very satisfied. Special thanks to Eri-san & other staff who looked for my brother in the onsen when he was late for his massage. They went above & beyond.

Parking lot can get busy but they have a back parking lot too so shouldn’t be a problem. Soft serve was also yummy and was a great snack by the lake:)

Beautiful environment and views. Everything is neat and clean. I visited this place in Sunday. That day weather was very shiny.

I really felt in love about the kawaguchiko area. The restaurant here was really good and cheap. We ride for 2hour around two lakes kawaguchiko and saiko. And for the rest this beautiful land grass is perfect.

Great views when parked up for the night. We visited on a Sunday night and found most the stores weren't open. Toilets were relatively clean. Overall a convenient spot to stop and view the lake

The rest area was great. We were riding around the lake on bikes. They had a clean restroom and we bought drinks at the vending machine. Sat at the tables out front and rested before finishing our ride. There was a large parking lot for our bikes. Was a great place for a rest.

The curry rice there is recommended, and the taste was really good. My little girl finished it up in 10 mins. Try the curry if you go there.

I loved thw green grass just next to the lake. Once can have mount fuji view in the lap of forest due to trees.

なべ家 is a charming family restaurant located near the Fuji View Hotel, offering a delightful dining experience. The friendly lady who runs the restaurant provides excellent service and even offers demonstrations on how to enjoy sukiyaki and basic Japanese dining culture. The traditional atmosphere of the restaurant adds to its appeal, although it's worth noting that due to being run by only two people, service can be slow.
Nabeya offers good food and is the closest restaurant to Fuji View Hotel, making it a convenient option for guests. Reservations are recommended because the lady managing the place can get easily stressed when there are too many guests. The restaurant is cash only, so be prepared for that. While the food is worth it, patience is needed as the wait times can be long. For example, we entered at 6 PM, ordered at 6:35 PM due to other guests with reservations, and received our food around 6:55 PM. Overall, it’s a good place with delicious food, but planning ahead and being patient will enhance your experience.

We had an amazing dining experience at this restaurant! All food was absolutely delicious and what surprised me the most was the price—everything was incredibly affordable, making it a fantastic deal for such high quality food. On top of that, the service was outstanding, the lady staff are friendly. If you live in Fuji View Hotel, this is definitely the spot to go, just 5 mins walk.
Wong H — Google review
Totally outstanding. Recommend booking in advance. Private Japanese-style eating areas. The lady who welcomes and serves is a terrific host. The beef sukiyaki is outstanding and well complemented by the red wine. The best experience we've had whilst staying near Fuji 🗻

Very lovely place and lovely host. It’s the nearest restaurant to Fuji View Hotel, only about 2 minutes walk. Traditional Japanese restaurant, with private places and amazing food. The lady doing the welcoming and ordering and cooking alone is extremely cute💜💜highly recommended. Beware cash only, but price is fair.
Heloise X — Google review
Our host was absolutely wonderful and made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. The whole experience reminded us of visiting our nana’s house, where every meal feels like it’s been prepared with love and care. The food was comforting, homemade, and full of authentic flavors, if you’re the only group there, like us, don’t let that put you off, it’s well worth it! If you’re looking for a truly traditional Japanese experience, this is the perfect place to go. We would definitely love to come back again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area! (they only take cash so come prepared!)

My friends and I were staying nearby at Fuji View Hotel and were looking for a place to eat. A short 4 minute walk to this amazing place. Everyone is super friendly and accommodating. The food was amazing, had deep flavours and you can tell it was made with a lot of love. Thank you very much to the lady who sat us and took our order. You were so wholesome and jolly. It made my stay that much better! 💙 Note: It is cash only, although not an issue for us when we went. 🙏

What a lovely place. We really did go as it was the closest restaurant to Fuji View .. and we were sad to find it was closed the next night (closed Mondays) because we would have been back in a flash! Th food was fabulous... fried chicken, gyoza and Sukiyaki... were the best! And the lady restaurant around providing the best service. The rooms were traditional. Loved it all!

This is the closest Restarunt to Fuji view hotel. It is very Japanese, which means the service is not western in style. We at there as a family of 4 with kids. We stood at the front for a few minutes before being served. Authentic Japanese environment and the staff truly appreciate even trying to speak a little Japanese. We spoke the little we know and it changed the staff mood very quickly. My advice in this Restarunt is when in Japan, do as the Japanese do. Food is amazing.

Day 4

Proximity is everything
For day 4, we bundled attractions like Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato Nenba (Traditional Japanese Village) and Kawaguchiko Shopping Center BELL and other places within a close range, so that the time it takes to travel between all of them is less than one hour. Combined with the average time people spend there, your day should take about 7 hours.

Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato Nenba is a reconstructed traditional Japanese village where visitors can explore old houses and even rent traditional clothing. It offers a glimpse into the countryside of Japan in ancient times. The village is located near Mt. Fuji, providing an iconic view of the sacred mountain from the Chureito Pagoda.
This was a beautiful traditional village with a fantastic view of the mountains. Unfortunately, we went during rainy season so it was very cloudy that day and we were not able to see Mt. Fuji. However, there are still amazing breathtaking views from the top of the traditional village. The people in the village are so kind and the gifts shops have so many unique items. One shop did take card and I bought a few ceramic sake cups with a beautiful design. There were different areas that had historical meaning and plaques to understand the area better. There were a few vendors at the base of the village that only accepted cash but they sold tasty smelling snacks and other treats. I have already made up my mind to come back when its not rainy season and I can see Mt. Fuji.
Ro — Google review
Village was quiet as compared to the other tourist spots, if you want a view of Mount Fuji without having to compete for a photo, this might be a good place to go. The village itself is quite run down with nothing much going on. Nice place to just sit and relax and look at nature
Maxine V — Google review
This is a quaint small museum village, a real experience like taking a trip back in time. We just loved the place. Loved the traditional Japanese old style houses , it’s just amazing to walk around them. Bu the way they have a school inside the village and they teach art and drawing. I was awesome seeing the kids sitting on the Tatami and drawing in a complete silent. Small boutique shops all around the village. To visit you have buy an entrance ticket - 500 Yen. We also took some pictures of Fujisan even it was a quite cloudy day. Please allow approx 2 hours for the visit. A big parking lot is at 150 meters from the entrance.
Robert R — Google review
The ticket is ¥500, but you can get it for ¥450 with a coupon from their official website — such a nice little deal. The parking space is really spacious, so it’s super convenient if you’re coming by car. What I really appreciate is how Muslim-friendly the place is. They have a prayer room, and there are plenty of halal food options too. It felt really thoughtful and inclusive. For those who love collecting stamps, they have one at the information counter — such a cute touch. A calm, welcoming spot that’s perfect for a slow and peaceful day out.

I'm not normally a fan of recreated things as think they are usually realky fake however I didn't get this feeling here. The village is only about 20 years old but is a replica of the old village. Its done really well and amazing to see the thatched work up close. Lots of varied souvenirs at each house plus a few fruit sellers and food stalls at the entrance. Toilets inside too. Plus if youre lucky great views of Fuji. I came here on a bus tour.
Bronz — Google review
Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato Nenba is a reconstructed traditional village that offers a glimpse into rural life at the foot of Mt. Fuji. The original settlement was destroyed by a landslide in 1966, and the site was reopened in 2006 as an open-air museum dedicated to preserving and showcasing Japan’s cultural heritage. The village consists of thatched-roof houses (kayabuki) now used as workshops, galleries, and small shops. Visitors can observe traditional crafts such as silk weaving, pottery, paper-making, natural dyeing, and hand embroidery, or join short hands-on workshops. Some houses display paintings and calligraphy, others sell local food, miso, sake, or handmade souvenirs. Even on a rainy day, the place has a quiet charm — green roofs covered in moss, narrow paths winding between wooden houses, and the soft sound of water flowing nearby. It’s an atmospheric stop that combines nature, craftsmanship, and a sense of peace true to its name: Iyashi-no-Sato, “Healing Village.” Admission: Adults: ¥500
Anna K — Google review
Bought our tickets at the entrance. The traditional setup really makes you feel like you have gone back in time. There are a lot of activities to do, you can easily spend a whole afternoon if you go through all the activities. It was a little bit cloudy so Mt. Fuji was not very clear. There are souvenir shops and food shops.
Gep E — Google review
A highlight for fuji area, despite it being a reconstructed village it felt authentic and there was plenty to do. If I had more time I would have dressed up as it was far less crowed then somewhere like Kyoto so an ideal place to hire a kimono and take some nice photos. There are also workshops they offer so really this is a whole day out. Cherry on top was fuji was visible but I think this would be a great place to visit if you found yourself without a clear view of fuji and still get the most out of the day!

Kawaguchiko Shopping Center BELL is a calm and local shopping center offering a variety of amenities. It features a grocery store, food court, arcade, traditional handicrafts, and clothing. The center caters to locals with reasonable prices and unique offerings not typically found in larger malls. Visitors can enjoy an udon restaurant with affordable options and a supermarket with a selection of salads. Additionally, the upper floor houses a local shop similar to Kmart.
Supermarket here is large enough! They have fresh seafood , meat , vegetable, milk. The price here is absolutely local priced.

We chanced upon this shopping center because it started raining hard in Funatsu area. We were supposed to visit Lake Kawaguchiko but decided to just explore the neighbourhood of our airbnb. The best thing we found here is the udon shop and the grocery store where you can find snacks themed of Mt Fuji and other local flavors. The udon shop is freshly made, with add-on of fried dishes and everything we tried were really good. It was such a surprisingly fun visit at this center, well-worth it.

Fairly small local shopping mall, with views of Mt Fuji. There are some stores, a supermarket, a 100 Yen shop, and a nice snack restaurant serving noodles and tempura at a low price. Perfectly good place to stop, shop, eat and use the toilets. ( After the wonders of Japanese toilets, the hole in the floor traditional gadget was a surprise).

Supermarket got quite some variety in ready to eat food, fresh goods snd non food. I wouls say mid size. The rest if the mall have clothes stores which is not exactly fashionable but all depends on your preferences.
Jah P — Google review
Like this mall as it feels very local without the tourist “tax free” signs I like the local ladies fashion as I am in my fifties. But it is inconvenient to come here without car as I had to walk 20 min to reach here from Fuji Q highland and another 20 min to reach Kawaguchi station.

For tourists who are travelling, this the place for your shopping. Avoid tokyo, osaka instagram places. Spend half a day here and have sushi at sushiro. Thank me later

Ensoleille Excursion Ship Pleasure Boat Kawaguchiko

Boat tour agency
Ensoleille Excursion Ship Pleasure Boat Kawaguchiko is a popular and luxurious cruise ship offering both indoor and outdoor seating, providing stunning panoramic views of Mount Fuji. The 20-minute trip offers a 360-degree transformation of the Yamanashi Prefecture, with the town of Kawaguchiko and magnificent mountains overlooking the lake. The ship's name, 'Ensoleille,' means 'sunny' in French, reflecting its scenic beauty.
How can I put this up....well, if you crazy about Fujisan and want to have a great view of the majestic mountain, please board the ship and get ready your camera, smart phone, etc. As you will be served with a breathtaking scenery of the great Fujisan. It was a worthwhile experience and and I think the 30-minute boat trip should be longer :)
Sulaiman N — Google review
I had a wonderful experience on the cruise! They have seating up top with no shade, outside seating with shade, and then an inside area with air conditioning. I recommend going early in the morning around 9 AM before the crowds come and then going to the Panoramic Ropeway afterwards. You can buy a discount combination ticket at the booth here for both attractions. You can see Mt. Fuji from both sides of the boat. The breeze on the water was very nice during the hot summer!
Megan M — Google review
Good price and pretty standard tourist boat ride. Fujisan was beautiful. I had no experience with unpleasant staff as others. Enjoyed the trip and the cool breeze.
Jessika R — Google review
Great vibes, actually. You can buy tickets for both the ship and ropeway at this ticket counter. The ship will bring you go along the Kawaguchiko lake forth and back within 30 minutes.

This is an ideal must do cruise on Kawaguchiko. If you are looking for a scenic break with Mt. Fuji any by day time or sunset, This 20 minutes cruise is a high value experience. Well organized ride and also provides perfect photo opportunities of Mt. Fuji. Timing matters so aim for clear skies and arrive on time.
James S — Google review
Nice boat ride around the lake. Takes maybe 20min total. If it's not cloudy you can get greats photos of Mt. Fuji
Kyle I — Google review
We got combination tickets for the ropeway and boat ride from the vending machine. The staff was very helpful. We went on the boat ride at 10 am and luckily there were only a few other people with us on the boat. We could take photos and videos without other people being in the frame while we sat down on the benches. The rides before and after us were quite crowded. There is a stamp in the building across the street from the dock.
Sorina R — Google review
Just a small boat that takes you out on the lake and back. If it is clear you can see Mt. Fuji when out on the lake.

Visitors can partake in various water activities such as rowing and sailing or explore museums, galleries, theme parks, and hot springs for a diverse travel experience.

I wasn’t so lucky that day since it was pretty cloudy, and Mt. Fuji didn’t show up. But honestly, the atmosphere around the lake was amazing—nice and cool, not too hot or cold. I saw people cycling around and others just walking or exercising. It felt really peaceful and relaxing.

Absolutely the most scenic bike ride I have ever done. Even though it’s not the cherry blossom or snow-capped season, the view of Fuji mountain is quite spectacular from every angle along this lake.

The beauty of the Lake is magnified by the backdrop of Mt. Fuji, the vast blue sky and the lovely breezes. The blueberry tea in the souvenir shop is a good company to this scenic splendour!

When i visited, Fujisan was not visible so the visit was disappointing overall. But the lake area is pretty and well maintained. There are many types of flowers planted and serve as a small consolation prize when Fujisan is not visible. There is a also a souvenir and food shop in the area.

Lake Kawaguchiko is a perfect day trip from Tokyo to see Mount Fuji. Located at the mountain's base, it offers spectacular views, especially from the northern shore where the mountain reflects beautifully in the water. Visit in the early morning for the clearest visibility. Beyond the views, you can rent a bicycle to ride around the lake or take the Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway for an aerial perspective. You'll also find opportunities to feed the resident swans, with food often available for purchase nearby. Don't forget to try hoto noodles, a local specialty, before you leave. Lake Kawaguchiko is an unforgettable escape that truly captures Japan's natural beauty.

Yagizaki Park is a serene lakeside park located at the foot of Mount Fuji, offering stunning views of the iconic mountain. The park features tennis courts, a doll museum, and during summer, it boasts beautiful lavender fields. It is also known for being the main venue for the Kawaguchi Lake Vanilla Festival. Yagizaki Park is a perfect spot for picnics with free parking available and offers a tranquil environment with well-maintained grounds and no commercial distractions.
For English speakers, a great park and you get a great view of Mt. Fuji (pending weather). Nice open field to have picnics at. Worth checking out the muse museum as they sell lavender soft serve. Very tasty and delicious.

Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center, also known as Oishi Park, is a charming visitor hub offering stunning views of Mt. Fuji from its café and providing jam-making classes using locally sourced berries. Situated on the northern coast of Lake Kawaguchiko, it offers a closer vantage point to the majestic mountain compared to other viewing spots along the Red Line bus route.
According to the tourist information center this is the best spot for scenic photos. You get a nice view of the mountain with the lake. This is also where some of the buses stop. The center itself also has your basic amenities along with a place where you can sit down and eat with a nice view of mt Fuji.

Great place for a walk, has loads of flowers, the view of kawaguchiko lake, and Mount Fuji. The store has loads of interesting trinkets and Japanese snacks. Bit expensive in Japanese standards, expected nothing less from a tourist destination. BUT they offer lovely ice creams and a great view upstairs — overseeing the lake, the flowers and the distant but clear view of Mt. Fuji

When exploring the culinary landscape of Japan, indulging in Sukiyaki is an experience you won't want to miss. This delightful hot pot dish features a medley of thinly sliced vegetables, tender raw beef, and noodles simmered together in a flavorful broth right at your table. It's not just about the food; it's also about sharing this hearty meal with friends or family, making it a perfect representation of Japanese culture and tradition.
We arrived at 19:00, on Saturday, the 13th of September….. we ordered and received our meal very quickly, even still the staff member who served us apologised for the wait. He spoke good English, and the food was tasty. He seemed stressed and was doing a good job, I wish I could have got his name so I could commend him personally. Absolute legend. If only he had some better help, it would be perfect.
Miles H — Google review
It was the only restaurant open at the time. Food was decent but the miso soup was very salty. Cheap and casual.
Megan G — Google review
Tried this shop after we finished from the mall. It was raining and we thought it would be nice to have a hot sukiyaki for our meal. It was quite slow when we reached in to the shops, so we are free to choose our seat. After seated, we ordered the menu via tab on the table. Our meal came separately, mine is around 5 minutes, while my partner around 10 minutes. My order is the one including the hot pot. It tastes good, perfect for gloomy weather as it is warm and mellow. we also got two eggs for the hot pot. we finished our food and paid directly to the cashier. One thing to be noticed is that the smell is quite strong, so it will glued to your clothes, so consider it also in case you have other meeting that you want to attend after eating. They also have drive through in case you're just want to grab the food without coming into the shops, perfect for people who are in a road trip.

Its a fast food restaurant but not that fast when its really busy . Its take 10 minutes for your meal to ready . The food is so so standart, you get a meat with miso soup i order with extra eggs and its nothing special. The price is really cheap consider its a fast food restaurant . Also if you come here in public holiday it will be very crowded so be carefull .

Special mention to Asif bhai, who went beyond his comfort zone to accommodate our requests for my grandmother. Even Raju bhai was super helpful and welcoming. Highly recommend!

An interesting little spot and an oasis for vegetarians looking to feed, this unassuming Indian restaurant is a good spot. I was miffed that the waiter wouldn't give me the vegetable curry rice. He insisted that I get it as a set or get the lentils and rice. Begrudgingly I took the latter option and I wasn't disappointed. The flavors were mild, yet flavorful and spicy. My partner asked for it to be made without spice and that was accommodated too. There was a very cozy marriage between the Indian spices and the Japanese rice. The samosa, however, left me yearning for more, but in a land where anything interesting to eat had legs or fins, the humble deep fried potato will be a soulful refuge. Sadly the chai can be flushed down the electronically controlled toilet here. It was tea flavored milk.

I have been living outside India for last four years and this is the best Hyderabadi style biryani I ever had. It’s really good quantity for one person. Prices are not too expensive either.

Servers were a dismissive and did not communicate well. Food was nice and price was decent. The naan bread was amazing however, I really recommend. It was incredibly soft and made to order.

Lunch with view lake kawaguchiko. Halal Restaurant, based Indian Taste. Still okay for Indonesia or Asia.
Winda S — Google review
I honestly don’t know if people that rate the restaurant actually ate good Indian food. This has to be one of the worst restaurants I’ve ever eaten recently if not ever in my life. First of all, the food is not spiced at all it’s more a Japanese style Indian food with clean flavors and mostly flavorless. The portions are extremely small, the food has no flavor, even the iced chai that comes with the meal has 0 flavor. We ordered vegetable pakora and samosas which both came without any sauces (chutney) on the side, when I asked the waiter he said that I have ketchup on the table. That’s the first time I’ve seen a ketchup in an Indian restaurant. Honestly would give it 0 stars if I could and would recommend others to try actual Indian food before rating it.

5 stars from the view to the food! The naan with butter chicken was so good. The even takeaway us some naan for free because they double ordered it!
Noor B — Google review
The spice hut is a great Indian restaurant near the lake, first row view. It serves really tasty non vegetarian and vegetarian 🌱 Indian dishes. They are very authentic, especially the garlic nan, butter chicken and paneer curry. Service is quick and friendly, the atmosphere could be a little bit more cosy, but that's just my personal opinion. Overall, really great experience. Highly recommend going here if you have a craving for Indian food In between the fantastic Japanese food around.

Restaurant
Dino DINER is a fantastic spot with locally grown produce and delicious food. The juicy egg and cheese burger is a must-try, and the beautifully packed takeaway kids meal was perfect for enjoying back at the hotel. This old-school American diner with Japanese twist decorations offers a unique atmosphere for a memorable dining experience. The owner's friendly service adds to the charm of this place, making it one of the few shops open till late evening in the area.
absolutely amazing restaurant and i cannot recommend it enough! the food was delicious beyond words, the atmosphere (decoration of the restaurant, music and lighting) was amazing, and service was incredible. the drinks were also delicious. honestly best burger i have ever eaten. highly highly recommend

Excellent burger spot! I had the bacon cheeseburger and I added egg. We also shared an order of onion rings, which were excellent. A couple of huge beers later and we were very happy!

(2025/08/23) Came here for lunch. Good vibes from the restaurant, but the burger is pretty standard. It tasted decent, but forgettable. If they toasted their buns with burger grease or butter, that'd make the burger better.

This is a lovely spot to enjoy good food and drinks, with nice vintage music playing in the background. The decor is beautiful, too. I only came here for lunch with my friends, but they’re also open at night. My favorite was the hamburg with salad and ginger ale—so yummy! 😋🥗 🥂

ambience was amazing, blown away when i first stepped foot in as it felt like usa haha. the burgers were one of the best burgers i’ve tried in a LONG time and was so unexpectedly awesome. Even the steak ordered was good. The cheese burger came with a small bacon too which was so good! Awesome quaint and cozy place! quite deep in so we used google maps to find it but it was worth every step!❤️

Second time visiting. Great value for a really high quality burger and good fries! Definitely top tier food and such amazing decor! We also had edamame and deep fried octopus…. I didn’t even know you could make edamame better than other places we had been. I just thought edamame was edamame. If in the local area definitely visit for a different experience to other local places😅 Lovely owners and great food, visit!

Such a fun time here! Big beers, massive bacon, tasty burgers, fries, and ice cream. Staff were working hard. Really cool American aesthetic but also very Japanese style. Met some people and we got chatting and drinking togetherness, so I bought more drinks and food! A happy experience!

Burgers, Elvis memorabilia, ‘60s & ‘70s music while dining at chabudai (low table). We enjoyed the excellent burgers and cold beers. If you want a change, this is place for you.

Izakaya restaurant
High Spirits is a popular spot in Kawaguchiko known for its lovely bar, great food, and amazing beer selection. Visitors praise the friendly owners who go above and beyond to assist with trip planning, offering valuable recommendations for local hikes and sights. The menu features delicious sushi, beef, fried chicken, and sides alongside an impressive selection of beer and plum wines. Guests highly recommend this establishment for its warm atmosphere and exceptional dining experience.
One of the absolute best experiences 2 Aussies could ask for in Japan! We were recommended this place by a friend, and we weren’t disappointed. We ordered the chicken karaage, chicken thighs, roasted pork with romesco sauce, braised pork ribs and matcha crème brûlée. We also ordered the special of udo tempura (a Japanese type of bitter asparagus)… every single item was oishii! Tsuyoshi balanced cooking and entertaining perfectly; the most hospitable chef we’ve ever met. His English may even be better than his drinking ability… maybe… We loved High Spirits and encourage any traveller (or local) to enjoy a meal or drink served by Tsuyoshi and his wife. いやさか!!!

The culinary experience and warm hospitality were perfectly balanced. I absolutely loved the high spirits and would highly recommend it to any visitor and local. I ordered the chef's choice, and every dish that came out truly impressed me. It was all incredibly fresh and unbelievably delicious!!! Be sure to order some sake and ask for his recommendations; he's excellent at pairing drinks with his dishes. Perfect harmony of food and hospitality. Chef Tsuyopon is the kindest chef I've ever met.

Foods are exceptional, especially the white truffle sashimi and the Japanese oyster hotpot. Situated in a quiet area, like a hidden gem. English menu available and staff are very nice! Definitely to visit! Google map location maybe little bit confusing where you may see the result of a ramen shop but it’s actually the same address. Hope you manage to find this restaurant :)

We’ve been here every time we are in Japan since 2023 - so that says it all :) The food is delicious every time and cooked with care. Highly recommend the chicken with garlic and onion - I have it every time I’m here & it always SLAPS!! Service is also great - chef is very friendly and spoke to us in fluent English as he cooked our food. Recommend sitting by the counter for a better experience :)

we walked 30mins from hotel to here, turns out this place is totally worth it. They have traditional Japanese food also special menu. We ordered assorted sashimi, pork back ribs stew with tomato, pork sausages with cabbages and plum wine, all of them taste so good. Definitely will come again next time
Heyi G — Google review
Such a spectacular experience! This was one of the highlights of my fiancé and I’s trip to Japan. The chef was charismatic, knowledgeable, and seemed happy to chat about the food, his insights, and life. The atmosphere was lively and cozy. The chef mentioned that the restaurant had recently moved into a new space, and I really liked it! The drinks complimented the food well and tasted great. I had the Yuzu Sour and Wasabi Lemon Sour. The food was also phenomenal. My fiancé and I ordered the sashimi, fried tofu in broth, and sakura-roasted potato salad. The flavors were complex and it really felt like I was tasting something the chef had spent time designing, rather than just “food”. Days later, I am still dreaming of the potato salad… Overall, I highly recommend to anyone visiting or living in Fujikawaguchiko. My fiancé and I will definitely be returning next time we are in Japan!

From the moment we walked in, High Spirts delivered an experience that was nothing short of extraordinary. The atmosphere was warm, intimate, and deeply connected — a perfect setting for what turned out to be one of the most memorable meals we’ve had in Japan. Every dish was a masterpiece: The white truffle sashimi was absolutely to die for — delicate and unforgettable. The wagyu beef sukiyaki was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with a touch of sweetness that lingered beautifully. The garlic and ginger chicken thighs were a savory, tangy delight — elevated comfort food. The special flounder dish was bursting with flavor and natural sweetness, cooked to perfection. And the tea-based crème brûlée? A flawless finish — creamy, fragrant, and subtly sweet. What truly set the evening apart was the chef’s personal touch. Taking time to engage with us, ask thoughtful questions, and share insights into each dish, the chef made the experience feel personal and heartfelt. If you're looking for a dining experience that blends exquisite flavors with genuine hospitality, High Spirts is a must. We left feeling inspired, satisfied, and already planning our return.

Fantastic evening. We sat at the bar by the kitchen and chatted to our host as he prepared great food... he and his wife were lovely, funny and courteous hosts. Tofu dish was so good.. not the best photo as I'd eaten most of it before I remembered to take one.
