There are 2 parts to the building, Rooms 3- 10 apparently more spooky than other rooms so we were given Room 4 for this reason. Was reluctant to get into bed as felt dirty & was obviously so cold! Smelt smoke throughout building Ghosts: We weren't lucky enough to witness any paranormal activity, walking about hotel is difficult at night as ALL floorboards creak so felt awkward & didn't want to disturb anyone, lights were on all night in hallways etc so didn't get the right vibes anyway. We booked a Superior Balcony Room for one night. Check-in was very friendly and quick, and we were walked to our room by the receptionist. The diner is always clean, and the seating is comfortable, the decor and the music is very much on the 50s/60s American diner theme, the restaurant is well lit and welcoming. The food was well presented and was of a relatively high standard, the steaks we ordered as mains were very good quality and cooked to perfection, the mac and cheese I had was excellent and the chips my wife had were crisp and well done, the sides were excellent. The BBQ hickory bbq wings were spot on as were the waffles and pancakes we had for pudding. The drinks get a special mention here, the long island tea is superb and very authentic my particular favourite was the root beer, some of the best I have tasted from an independent producer. The total spend including drinks was £90 for 3 courses and drinks, with a two course meal without drinks the bill would have been around £40 for both of us which puts the pricing into the very affordable end of the market nowadays. As a footnote this restaurant is rising to the challenges that the current financial climate has caused by upping its game in hospitality and quality, well done to them.

I popped in on Saturday at about 12.30 as one of a group of about 12. It was half full so we were able to sit at a couple of tables out the front.
