Several pullouts along the lake. It’s huge so you get many miles to travel alongside it.

I took Bus 14 at 7:45 AM from the Port Angeles gateway transit center to get to Lake Crescent. It took roughly half an hour to get to Hwy 101 At O.P.I. which is the stop at which I got down to walk to Lake Crescent. Bus 14 is the one that goes all the way to Forks, and it runs self regular intervals. There was a trail right at the bus stop, and I took it to complete a short hike which was a loop that eventually got me to Lake Crescent. I followed the trail that led to a creek, then continued and eventually went to Marymere falls! I then continued back to go to lake crescent. I loved that the trail goes under the road - that’s so cool! I saw a couple of deer grazing, and they were so cute!!!! I finally got to the lake and dipped my feet in the lake. I saw a photographer with a tripod taking photos of the lake. The day I was there, it was cloudy and drizzling and it did feel like vampires were around (twilight vibes through and through)! The lake was so beautiful - the shades of green and blue in the lake were simply breathtaking! I could spend the entire day just looking at its beauty and walking along the lake.

We went during the shutdown and during a weekday and had no problem driving right up with minimal crowds. The hikes are all extremely easy and offer varied scenery. The hall of mosses is the most famous and easiest of the hikes. While it was great, we MUCH preferred the other hike (forgot the name but it was the middle distance (1.5 miles maybe?) because it offered by far the greatest variety of scenery. It has the massive redwoods, halls of moss, Star wars endor looking sets, a river, streams, and best of all, 4 giant elk which crossed directly in front of us.

We really love this National Park! The rainforest is so beautiful with its layers upon layers of growth.
There are three parking lots so if the main one is full check the other two. The trails are quite easy and family friendly.

I was not ready for this much beauty! I am still shocked with how amazing this area was. Even driving in we had to stop and grab some pics because it's just breath taking. The actual trail looks like something out of a book and not real. We walked on of the trails, took a small break to eat in the car because it was raining, and then took off again on the same trail because we loved it so much. My first time in a rainforest and it's absolutely gorgeous! I did the Hall of Mosses trail and then the Spruce Nature Trail, both of which are easy hikes for families. There are bathrooms near the trailhead of the Hall of Mosses trail but they are closed right now because of the government shutdown, however there are port a potties on the side of the road on way to the forest. It's a pretty popular and busy area, but that's for good reason. It's definitely worth the views and I would love to come back ASAP. Please remember to pack it in and pack it out, and to not stray from the marked trails as this destroys vegetation and ecosystems.

If there is any mountain trail that you are considering to do in the Olympic area this is it. There are switch backs closed to the summit and only that part is quite exhausting. But the view is rewarding. We also encountered a snowy slope in June. The trail signs went missing from there on, so we had to improvise a few meters. Hiking poles are really useful. We were told by frequent hikers that you can see a bear if you are in luck, and indeed we did! As we were returning back to the starting point a mama bear and her cub was standing next to the trail. We were prepared with a bear spray and container. We had a very safe encounter.

Such a beautiful and natural beach. We timed it for low tide so we could enjoy looking in the tidal pools. It’s a relatively short walk to the beach with some sand, tidal pools, stacks and driftwood. We visited the Hot Springs in August during a three day adventure into the Olympic national Forest and rented a campsite here at Sol Duc. The entire layout was very organized and dispersed well. The location for the lodge was incredible with views of the mountain in the background, and the fog made it look even cooler! To enter the Hot Springs, it was incredibly well priced and featured queen locker/shower rooms, as well as covered area to hang towels outside. The pools were clean and the size of the heated swimming pool was impressive, really did the body wonders to get the hot/cool therapy, felt the most relaxed afterwards! The scenery is gorgeous. The pools are very nice. The dressing rooms leave a lot to be desired. The floors were slippery and slimy and there weren't enough mats. There were no hooks on the walls to hang anything so you had to put everything on wet benches. There were even any hooks at the showers. I only used the hot springs, but there isn't anywhere to leave a separate review about it. It was perfect after a day of hiking in October when it was still cold and raining outside because I didn't get overheated. Showers/restrooms were fairly clean, there was a lot of foot traffic so I don't expect 100% especially with the government shut down happening I'm sure that affects their staff. However, the staff working the desk were friendly and explained the process to me (easy: shower before, go during your allotted time frame). Be sure to remove any jewelry you don't want tarnished (they warned me too), hot springs have high sulfur content which is what will turn your jewelry black/blue.

We rented a cabin for three of us- we had plenty of room and was within walking distance of the Hot Springs and gift shop.

A place to stop leaving Olympic national Park. Our stay included in the two bedroom room cabin looking at the Pacific Ocean. It was really neat to hear the waves all night long. The star gazing was unmatched. The cabins are slightly rustic and you should set your expectations as such. The heater did kick on and off a lot, waking us up a fair bit.The restaurant was acceptable and easy to feed the family for the evening. It was nice to have the kitchenette with a mini refrigerator and microwave in the cabin.

Kalaloch lodge is an amazing place. Our cabin was right next to the beach! The cabin was clean, cozy, and well maintained. We had everything we need in the cabin, even kitchen ware and coffee maker. Stayed in one of the cabins for 3 nights earlier this week. Cabin was cozy, well-furnished, and stocked with basically everything we needed. Bonus points for being dog friendly. The wood stove was very cozy and they supply a bundle of firewood per night. The power went out on our final night and maintenance brought several extra bundles of firewood to make sure we stayed warm and cozy through the storm. Only real negative is the matches they supply in the rooms are awful and bend before they can light, recommend bringing a lighter or better matches to save yourself some frustration!
We cooked most meals, but also had dinner at the restaurant one night. We had the elk burger and crab Mac and cheese, which were both excellent. Cocktails were delicious and strong.
The location here is unbeatable. Quick access to many popular beaches and the Hoh and Quinalt Rainforests. We saw otters, eagles, deer, and more wildlife on lodge property. It's so sad that the cabins are slowly being lost to the bluff erosion :(

My husband and I celebrated our 28th Wedding Anniversary with a trip to Washington. We really enjoyed our visit to Kalaloch Lodge. The Cons: The beds were not incredibly comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. We were surprised that board games were available to borrow for the evening @ the front desk. Overall this was a great stay and we would definitely return.

Our expectation for this lodge exceeded what was delivered. The view from the area is beautiful which makes this location very desirable though truthfully, there is not a lot of other options of places to stay in the area. It seemed pricey, but we have paid similar for lodges elsewhere. We paid for a "Bluff Duplex Cabin One Queen Wood Stove" though it was barely on the bluff (#15 if I am remembering correctly). We did see the ocean though it was mostly obstructed by overgrowth. Inside the cabin it was very nice but be warned the bathroom is made for people on the smaller side. If you are on the large size or have large parts you will be hitting things. And you may want to give up on the shower stall. Please don't take this as a bad review. We did enjoy our stay but just were a bit disappointed.

This is a hike that I have done many times, and it never disappoints. It is always a wonderful experience. The parking was fine and the hike is not too hard. It is family friendly, with lots of phot-taking opportunities. After entering the trail, you get a view of Lake Crescent, where you can walk along the water's edge (and maybe even skip some rocks). Going in the spring or after a heavy rainfall or period where it rained a lot will make for a full waterfall and a more majestic view. Once you're on the other side of Barnes Creek, you begin the hike to the waterfall. It is uphill and steep, which is why the walking stick will come in handy. Once you start your ascent, you can choose one of two trails to the falls, the first (to the left) has stairs and railings, while the second has only rails. Coming down, the stairs is much easier on the knees than the other way (pro tip). Once you reach the falls, there is a wonderful picture opportunity. The Marymere Falls trail in Olympic National Park is one of my favorite easy hikes — super scenic and perfect for photos! I’m an elopement photographer and love shooting here because it’s short, flat, and surrounded by that dreamy mossy forest everyone pictures when they think of the PNW. The last few minutes go a bit uphill before the waterfall, but it’s an easy climb and totally worth it.
I always recommend starting the hike from Lake Crescent Lodge instead of the Storm King Ranger Station — that route is way prettier, and the lake views by the lodge are incredible. Parking can get busy in summer, but off-season it’s quiet and peaceful.

I visited this place in the summer and winter. Both times were absolutely stunning. You can't get up front and person with it like you can with other nature areas in Washington, but it is still beautiful. We chose Woodland Inns as our base to explore the surrounding area - Hoh Rainforest, Quinault Rainforest, Ruby Beach, Rialto Beach, and other beautiful sites. We stayed for three nights in Cabin 6 (Olympic Inn) and loved it!

There are some decent food options nearby - we had takeaway from Pacific Pizza, and also heard good things about Sully’s Drive-In for burgers and Yabe’s Taco Truck for Mexican food. For groceries, you can find everything you need at Thriftway supermarket.
We had a wonderful stay and really enjoyed exploring all the incredible natural sites in the area. Would definitely stay here again.

We we're thrilled with Woodland Inns back in May! We stayed in the Folklore Inn because we wanted the "Twilight" themed cabin. The cabin was large, clean, and perfectly situated in town to explore everything Forks and La Push has to offer. We stayed in the Cottage House at the Emerald Valley Inn. The cottage was beautifully furnished, and it was very relaxing to come back to after long days of travel and hiking.

Don’t get me wrong, this place is very cute. The location is wonderful, the cottage is cozy, and Granny’s on the property is a great convenience. And can’t forget the animals! Our young toddler loved that. Water pressure and temperature was great after a long day of hiking. And the proximity to lake crescent was amazing. But…housekeeping was rough. The floor isn’t carpet, so a quick swiffer is easy between parties..but the floor was still filthy. Our socks were gross after walking around inside for just a few hours after leaving our shoes by the front door. The bed is high with nothing underneath, so very easy to vacuum, but that area was gross too. Old food, kids snacks, tons of dust, and a lot of bugs. Lastly, the washing machine, albeit super convenient and great to have, had mold inside on the ring. There were a lot of inconsistencies about check in time. And the door, although technically locked on the outside coming in, was not “locked” from the inside. So our little girl could get on her tippy toes and open the door if she wanted, which is a huge safety hazard for families with young kids. The kitchen was great and had all the necessities, and you could not beat the view when walking out of the cottage. It was a nice little place but for $980 for just 3 nights I would expect more.

We stayed in the Appleton Suite. The hotel was easy to find right off the highway. It was about 15 mins frim Port Angeles and about the same to Lake Crescent. It had a charming cafe on the properrty. Attention was paid to details - good coffee for the morning, a fan for those who need to sleep with one, and lots of comfy pillows for a good night sleep. The bathroom was clean, had extra towels and soaps / shampoos. Loved the menagerie of farm animals to greet us in the morning. Communication was outstanding!! Very helpful! I would highly recommend.

Parking lot is close to wooden ramp but as of Sept. 15, 2025, the local guide did not let us go down the ramp. Once I saw it from below I understood.
Instead it's about a 5 minute walk thru campsites and further down the beach to access the Pacific Ocean. Then a stunning walk up the beach to the Tree of Life.
Find your reason or no reason at all but encounter this phenomenon of nature, gently sitting closer to the sand with each passing day.

Such a cool and unique stop if you’re driving along the Olympic Peninsula. The tree looks like it’s floating in midair, roots fully exposed but still thriving. It’s wild to see in person!

Excellent camp ground with a good amount of privacy for a larger campground. Our spot had plenty of space between spots and we weren't able to see neighbors except across the road. It's decently accessible to sights in the area, you can walk to the tree of life, a couple of largest/oldest trees, and the stunning Opal beach is about a 10 min drive away. Kalaloch lodge has a nice little convenient store minutes away. You can easily access the beach walking from the campsite, even from the far side. The only real issue was how the loud the traffic from the highway could get. Though that wouldn't deter me from returning.

I really did not like camping at Kalaloch. If you can get lucky and snag one of the spots along the cliffside looking over the beach, you likely have a much difference experience. The site I was in was in a dark wooded area where sunlight is a thing of myth. My site was also overrun with cockroaches. Little black buggers were everywhere. I didn’t stay here but I had my elopement pictures taken here. It was cloudy when I came but as always, Olympic national park is a beautiful gem regardless of weather. There are really pretty places that overlook the water and the tree of life is located close. Beautiful place to camp! We stayed three nights and I could have easily stayed longer if we had time. The only downside is that dogs are not allowed in most things in the national park besides the beach. That being said, our dog LOVED the beach. Truly enjoyed our stay at Hoh Valley Cabins! Super close to the Hoh Rainforest and we even got our own private trail nearby which we enjoyed. We also loved driving down to Forks and to the coast while we were here. It's a very peaceful cabin. It's so quiet, you literally do not hear a single thing. The house itself is on the outskirts of Port Angeles off of a quiet little road with sparse neighboring houses. Stayed here while exploring Port Angeles and Olympic National Park. We really wanted to love this house, but unfortunately, it had several issues that made our stay uncomfortable.
The upstairs was the highlight — spacious master bedroom, private bath, office, and ocean view. However, the downstairs was a completely different story. It was significantly colder, and the thermostat didn’t work for that level. It seems the hosts were aware of this, as there were three portable heaters already placed in the small downstairs rooms. Unfortunately, using them tripped the circuit, and we ended up freezing overnight — while the upstairs was far too hot.
The two downstairs bedrooms were very tight, with no space for a pack-n-play. We had to co-sleep with our baby, which wasn’t ideal. On top of that, the coffee machine still had old grounds from previous guests, and when I brought it up, no one offered to clean it. There were also no extra towels provided. When I asked about it, they told me to check an area I had already looked in — and mentioned was empty.
Check-out instructions included starting a load of laundry to wash the towels. For a place that costs over $800 a night, I think it’s unreasonable to ask guests to do laundry.

I had the opportunity to stay at the Crab Shack while in Sequim for work. I am so glad I chose it! Too bad the missus didn't come with, because it was an absolute gem! WOuld have made for a romatic getaway. Quaint. STUNNING views. Provate beach access with abundant shells. Well appointed kitchen. Comfortable all the way around! Just for that alone, I would recommend a stay!
However, I left my tablet behind. Housekeeping discovered, and they called ASAP! but I was too far away to turn back. I am returning to the area in September, and they offered to hold it for me until then. Really?!!? That would be ok? Thank you thank you!
But then I realized I have a ton of flights coming up and hte tablet makes flight time bearable, so I reached out to see if they would ship it, "No problem!" they said. It was in the mail almost immediately, and htey didn't try any "extra fees" shenaniganslike the airlines do (don't ask how I know LOL).

We enjoyed our stay at the Crab Shack. The views from the cottage over the Puget Sound were wonderful, as was the beach access. The cabin and kitchen were well stocked with everything we needed. The cabin is cozy and very clean, and has everything you could ever need for a fun weekend away from the city. We spent our weekend drinking coffee outside watching the sunrise over the mountains, driving to Olympic National Park (which is only a half hour away!), and playing board games at night with the fire cracking in the background. Having trouble finding all the right words to describe this lovely little gem of a cabin stay. Although you're in a 'cabin' you have all of the luxuries you'd expect in any modern well kept home. It was so clean as well, none of my significant allergies were triggered at all!
As for the location, it is just divine. You will be in a lovely tucked away spot in the woods, with all the mountain views to go with it. But at the same time, you aren't too far removed from either town (Sequim or Port Angeles) to have a great day in town.

We recently rented the Olympic View Cabins grounds and all three cabins for our wedding. It was really important to us to choose a venue where we could spend quality time with our guests, more than just for a few hours in one evening, and everyone could enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Olympic Peninsula. OVC was perfect! We had stayed at the Compass Rose house when we got engaged and quickly realized that the mountain views and wildflower meadows would be the ideal scenery to say our vows. We stayed in the Pond Cottage, which was perfect for us to retreat to when we needed some quiet time together. The flowers were blooming, the grounds were meticulously maintained, and the weather was beautiful! We really hit the jackpot with this place and recommend it for anyone who wants a relaxing wedding weekend focused on community and nature.

Peaceful, scenic, well kept log cabin with a well stocked kitchen in Port Angeles, the closest town to the Olympic National Park entrance. Views to Hurricane Ridge; pool and jacuzzi; pond with fishing rods to try your hand, and a fruit garden - our 9 and 12yr old boys absolutely loved the outdoors. As for us, we rally enjoyed cooking in the cabin and ended up not eating out much, as the cabin was so cozy, with the large fireplace and lots of refreshing rain outside. It is definitely worth going to, and in our case, we plan to be back. The views are second to none. The owners live in the cabin right next door, but they are very quiet and their entrance faces the other way. They were warm and welcoming from first contact to post-departure communication, which left a really nice and warm feeling in our hearts. We highly recommend staying at the Olympic View log cabin!

Rialto Beach - Hole in the Wall Area
Even with the fog, Rialto Beach is absolutely stunning! We took the hike out to the Hole in the Wall, and the misty atmosphere made the whole experience feel so dramatic and wild. The sound of the waves crashing against the sea stacks and the huge pieces of driftwood scattered along the shore were incredible.
The "Hole in the Wall" is a natural arch carved by the sea, and walking through it at low tide is a must-do. The tide pools on the other side were full of life, and the whole area is a photographer's dream.
Definitely check the tide charts before you go so you can make it all the way out to the arch! A perfect day trip in Olympic National Park. Highly recommend!

What a beautiful beach, with beechwood scattered along the shore and tall trees lining the coastline. The views are stunning throughout. You can enjoy a scenic 1.8-mile walk to Hole-in-the-Wall Beach, with fascinating tidepools. The sunsets here are truly worth staying for.

Being from Southern California, I have to say, that this beach is so otherworldly it was just RAD! Parking was easy but HOT TIP, they beach straddles the land of the Quileute Nation so if you can on the Reservation side, you have to climb over some BIG driftwood and when I say big I mean like HUGE fell trees that have been washed up and piled up. No big deal though as then you will have a less crowded experience. If you go to the beach on the non-Rez side, there is a path through the driftwood to get you to the beach. There are various seastacks that you can see, which are beautiful and tell the story of where the shoreline was in history. We saw the sunset from this beach and it a core memory that we will never forget.
