Also, I would indicate this is a party place. Every area is full of drinkers and non stop noise. I searched and searched for a quieter location but never found. I ended up walking around the neighbourhood to find piece. The neighbourhood was also full of loud pumping music. To the point, a nearby house had 6 speakers on stands just cranked. You could hear it in the room and two blocks away. Anyhow, if this is your thing / setting, perfect. But for me, $30-$40 to get 2 hours sleep in a place of shambles is not where I want to spend my hard earned money.

There's also a different kind of activity every day from bar hoping to card games to touring around the city to trying new foods from close enough places hosted by the staff at the hostel. There's a free continental breakfast which consists of pancakes or waffles, oatmeal, and sometimes fruit cups with hot brewed coffee or tea. The only downside to the hostel are that the walls are quite thin since it's an old budding. I'm thankful I had a room all the way upstairs but some of the guests who had rooms downstairs near the common room complained about not getting any sleep from drunk tenants coming in and out of the hostel late at night. So if you're a light sleeper like me, bring some good earplugs. It'll help with sleep by a long shot. The best part was how interactive the staff were and how they went above and beyond to make you feel comfortable! I felt very safe and enjoyed talking to the staff and getting to know them! Location is very close to French quarter and Frenchman street. Our room had a full kitchen and 2 bathrooms. It had been recently renovated so it was clean and modern. It was right in the heart of downtown NO in the Garden district a short walk or ride away from the French Quarter as well. Very comfy, and very affordable. Got to meet and chat with lots of very cool people who were also traveling, but also didn't feel cramped and still had our own private space. The staff goes above and beyond to help visitors enjoy the area and keeps a board with lots of good recommendations for food and events in the area posted in the lobby.
