This historic hotel was a disappointment to us. The room showed a nice balcony which was in fact shared and gave us no privacy both in our room and using the balcony. Mosquito problems from standing water ate me up. They went on about having a chef that would make a wonderful tailored breakfast and then a young rude kid meets us the next morning and says all we have is sausage. We passed. We did like the historic building and maybe others will find it more charming.

excellent job preserving and restoring the original woodwork and fireplaces. If you like historic buildings this is a great place to stay. While visiting Springfield, IL, I had the pleasure of staying at the Inn at 835, a beautifully restored 1906 luxury apartment building turned bed-and-breakfast. My suite, The Orchard, featured two bedrooms, a cozy living room, a private balcony, and a luxurious jetted tub. My wife and I decided to stay here on a roadtrip. AMAZING PLACE. We stayed in the Hydrangea Room. The innkeeper (which it's fun that they even have someone called the "innkeeper") gave us a tour and dropped off freshly-baked chocolate chip cookies after we checked in. We had an excellent stay there as part of our route 66. As soon as we arrived we were shown around the property, had goodies waiting for us which really made the experience special- on top of having a fabulous breakfast included in the price. If you want a great location to the Lincoln Museum and home, it's great! But we warned although the hostess was friendly the over experience was a nightmare. The wall are paper thin or the people talk really loudly even after notifying staff who assured the issue would be addressed. It wasn't. I couldn't get sleep until much later than my wife and I desired. The bagels were stale with toaster or bagel slicer, the "chef" looked very unprofessional coming in a t-shirt and jeans. Wearing a headband. If youve been to B&Bs you would expect a higher level of professionalism.The hot food offering was nothing special. Scrambled eggs and sausage. I'd avoid this place.

I enjoyed the vintage ambience of this venue. I do believe, however, the management allows too many people for the available space. The reception I went to had 125 people, and it was crowded. The tables took up too much space, so it was difficult to get around, and several tables had to be taken down to make room for a dance floor after dinner. The parking situation is not great either. My wife and I had our wedding reception there on November 2nd. It was an amazing space. Robin is an excellent and accommodating host. The venue holds about 110 people, so if you're looking to have an intimate wedding reception (or other event), this is the place. There's a balcony, which gave the kids an excellent spot to hang out in. We had 96 people at our wedding, and we were still able to have a good-sized dance floor for all of our guests to dance their hearts out. There's a spacious corner for a well-suited DJ setup. Robin also built a beautiful bar inside where people can line up for drinks. There's two bathrooms and a backroom where a caterer can set up, too. (We did a buffet style.) Don't worry about the acoustics with the high ceiling and the tile floor; once you fill up the space with people, it all sounds great. The giant chandelier is gorgeous, and it is hung from the original woodwork! It can also be dimmed along with the side lights when the whole party is ready to dance! Venue 1929 is a very special and memorable place, especially for vintage-themed lovers. Parking is limited right outside the venue, but that is a non-issue. Guests were able to use the lot across the street. We couldn't have been happier with Venue 1929. 10/10: we wish we could plan our wedding reception there again.

The owners brilliantly designed this wedding and event barn. It's flooded with natural light and white features create a happy, elegant feel to the space. There are chandeliers, grand stairs leading up to a balcony overlooking where the wedding reception would be, you know, for added drama and wow factor. There is paved parking and paved walkways leading to and from event spaces. This for me is a big deal, trudging through muddy pastures for event parking can really ruin a good time and thanks to the added upgrades the owner put into this wedding and event venue, Pole Barn Chic guest will not have to worry about rainy, muddy days. Walking impaired guests will have easy access around the property, again ensuring that all guests can feel welcomed and enjoy their visit. The grounds are stunning. The drive into the property is lush and green, lots of trees and a beautiful pond with fountain. There is a wooden fence lining one side of the property giving that countryside, farm feel to the property. All in all its one of the best laid out, exciting, unique and lovely wedding venues I have visited. I adore the owners and their team, they truly love what they do, they love hosting weddings, birthdays, parties, corporate events, company events, Quinceanera's, anniversaries, etc... I had a 5 star experience here and I think those who choose Pole Barn Chic will be absolutely thrilled they did.

The ticket was worth the price and so much more - from the food, the ambiance, and shuttle/cart service to the Nola band, themed drinks, and photo opportunities… everything was perfect! This museum was really nicely organized. We went through only a portion of the full museum, the hall that showed Abe's early years up to his election, and the hall that showed his years as the president. The exhibits are really well done, with a lot of eye opening descriptions.

I have been on many historical home tours. This is one of the best - rich in history for the house and the people of the time. We were fortunate to have the curator as our guide, she was very informative and had stories on so many of the pieces in the home. One of the few historical houses you get to walk through as it was without parts being roped off. A lot of Lincoln aspects. Concert sound was awesome. Souvineer cups were awesome, but soda's were $6 each with $4 refills. Kinda high. The railing on the back step almost killed me. It was rusted out and almost fell over when I tried to use it on the stairs. Before the end of the night It had completely fallen over and someone was being arrested for knocking it over. Not open everyday, but plays and musicals are a staple here, and other then the Hoogland on 6th, this is one of the only other theatres worth going to in Springfield. Coming back to this theatre brought back many memories to when I performed a play at this location when it was STC. Now a new (Legacy) theatre has since taken over creating more opportunities to increase Springfield's access to art. The seats are comfortable and I oive how the downstairs is an open concessions area with enough searing. They have accessibility to bathrooms upstairs (in addition to downstairs) as well as an accessible ramp. I'm not too sure about their parking situation when they have packed crowds but we were able to find street parking 30 seconds away from the building 10 minutes before the show.
It is an older building so it was a bit rustic the closer you get downstairs but you can tell they take pride in their location.
The Uniformed Ushers were friendly and helpful when I inquired how to meet cast afterwards. They directed me towards a side courtyard that is spacious enough to accommodate many.

A great local theatre and my first time there was for a special presentation of The Polar Express movie where the family was invited to a viewing in their pajamas.
They had a projection TV setup with sound system. For me that was the only issue I had as the sound wasn't loud enough and the brightness of the projector could have been better.

I play here regularly. Challenging course. Great staff. The greens are quick but not in great shape. They don’t seem to move pins often and when they do they often just move them 2 or 3 feet. Last minute decision to play here on Sunday Memorial Day weekend. Glad we did, the staff was awesome and got our big group out all together. Course was challenging especially if you were new. A large group of us stopped at Piper on the way home from a Big Cedar golf trip. We were rained out at Payne's Valley and feeling dejected from the weather. I play here a lot and the course could be really nice. It has a great lay out but the fairways and tee boxes usually are as long as the rough. The green a slooooow. They are sometimes the length of fairways.
The food is pretty good and they seem to have good events but I’ve never been to one. Staff is usually ok but our group has gotten attitude from some servers so we go elsewhere to eat now.
The club house is non existent. The golf seems to come second to the social venue.

The Hoogland Center has its hits and misses, but last night's performance of "Dreamgirls" was a blockbuster. The entire cast has wonderful voices starting with Calia Cole as Effie White. The whole cemetery seems to be old and worth walk around; lots of old grave markers. I'm kinda into history and lincoln is my favorite president so I might have a skewed opinion but I loved visiting Lincolns tomb it was a very moving experience and I intend on going again in the future. I booked this building with CWLP contact Mike Romer a year in advance. Mike was very helpful and accommodating throughout the whole process of a very important wedding event. If you’re interested in booking this location, I would advise that you book your event as soon as possible. The schedule for this location fills up quickly. The location is very picturesque inside and out. It is Handicapped accessible with a ramp leading to the building and additional access to the concrete deck facing towards the lake. The handicapped parking area is also very close to the ramp. One thing to note about parking is that it is limited directly in front of the building, but adjacent parking is a short walk away. I would recommend this location for weddings,reception and catered events.

There are some vey good people that attend, so my elaborations are based on interaction and observations of staff. They need to understand what an outreach ministry should be, and it means much more than sending money to missionaries.
