Earthy Eats ticks all the boxes for me. The menu has a nice variety of mainly vegetarian meals, but you can simply add or substitute ingredients if it doesn’t suit your dietary requirements. I’m only lactose intolerant, so it was ok for me.
I had one of the smoothies that was really delicious followed by the Kimchi Rosti Bowl which I really enjoyed.
I noticed this cafe won a couple awards in 2022 which doesn’t surprise me. No need for Gordon Ramsay to visit this place, it’s doing well!

The food was the best I have had on my trip so far, extremely tastey though a sharp knife to cut the bacon and bread would have been ideal! The service stood out as they were friendly and helpful and everything came out in a timely manner. The atmosphere was slightly lacking as it was rather loud and echoing as there was a severe lack of "soft" decorations and wall coverings to absorb the sound, though what was there was well thought out and well laid out making the stay enjoyable. Would deffinatelly recommend as the VEGAN and Vegiterian options were great!

Went to the Black Cow Bistro while we were in Launceston for our babymoon. We picked this restaurant based on the high ratings as we were looking for a location for a celebratory meal.
The steak was nice, reasonably cooked, but unfortunately a little bit tougher than I would expect for an eye fillet. We have visited a number of mid-range and high end steak restaurants and competitively unfortunately, the Black Cow didn't stack up against our favourites.
The mushrooms and beans for the side dishes were quite nice, but the best side was definitely the potato galette that came with he steak.
The bread was delicious, but of course you can't really go wrong there.
It did take a while for the meals to come out, which wasn't that surprising given how busy the restaurant was.
Service was fantastic, and this is primarily why I'm giving a 4 star rating instead of a 3.

Visited this cozy restaurant on a Friday night and had a fantastic dining experience. We started with a scallop each and shared the pork belly for our entrées. both were delicious, and I especially loved the fresh, salad that accompanied the pork.
For mains, we ordered the scotch fillet and eye fillet. The steaks were tender, full of flavour, and cooked to perfection.
We also really appreciated the thoughtful pacing of the meal. It was great to have a bit of time between courses to enjoy and digest.

What a terrific experience. Delicious entrees including oyster kilpatricks, scallops, kingfish, steak tartare and octopus... All sublime. Mains comprising eye fillet, porterhouse and slow cooked rump were all devoured heartily. Each were cooked to requested style and on point. The Metz was lovely, we decided to dine here last minute and it was a great guess. They offered us a table as walk-ins and still gave us enough time to enjoy the meal.
I had the steak which was cooked to perfection (I had medium rare). The only downside I found was the corn served with it was a bit hard to eat and lacked some flavour and was very tough, although was saved by the mushroom sauce which was delicious.

Unfortunately we were disappointed and won't be returning. We visit Launceston every two weeks to see my son for dinner. I've been wanting to go to the Metz for over a yr. Finally got there 10/10/25.
My son's Broccolini was stone cold +onion gravy did not go with the Eye Fillet. My husband's Duck Risotto had been watered down so much that you couldn't taste the nice strong taste of the duck. It was bland and had no seasoning. My Fish curry was nice but the rice it came with was cold.
The waitress dropped the onion gravy container onto my back, it hit my hair and rolled down my beautiful pink jumper. Now it's going to cost dry cleaning costs. Value was also poor; for three people it cost $190 for two beers, x1 lemon lime bitters, the duck risotto, the eye fillet, the fish curry, a bowl of chips + garlic flatbread pizza, which incidentally was dry after had no flavour - it was hard to eat. We recommend this company retrains the chef and the waitress with the dark hair. The blond waitress did a good job and was respectful. Thank you.

Rupert & Hound is a modern Australian restaurant with nice seating on the waterfront Seaport Blvd. They have nice indoor dining environs and are open from 11.30am- late (closed Mondays & Tuesdays). We had dinner here during a recent stay in Launceston and were very happy with our meal.
For dinner we had the Pink Ling served on bed of pumpkin puree and Asian flavoured noodles that worked very well. The fillet was fresh, nice texture and flavour on its own, accentuated by the noodles and pumpkin. Great job in the kitchen with this dish. We also very much enjoyed the Lamb shoulder, which was tender, succulent and tasted exactly as expected. Served with pumpkin, asparagus and topped with yoghurt sauce, this was also a very good main.
For dessert we enjoyed a soft chocolate cake serving with strawberries and ice-cream. This was just fine. Wine list sufficient. Old fashioned cocktail was good. Chocolate cake dessert serving was also enjoyed. Service friendly and timely throughout our dinner, prices quite reasonable for the quality of the meal. We would happily dine here again next time in Launceston.

I came here excited after reading so many positive reviews, especially about the seafood chowder. Unfortunately, it seems they no longer serve it, so I went with the seafood risotto, expecting something similar in quality. Big mistake.
The risotto was a complete disappointment. The mussels were buried under the rice and barely noticeable, and the two prawns still had their shells and tails on — messy and frustrating to eat. The vegetables were long and uncut, making it hard to eat.

It felt like all that seafood was wasted under a thick, cheesy mess.
My son had the buffalo crunchy but it was completely soggy. Drenched in sauce, with none of the “crunchy” texture promised. It felt like eating sauce with a bit of chicken inside.
The only dish that was actually good was the Kilpatrick oysters. But overall, we left disappointed. Definitely not worth the price.

The meal I got was way overpriced! I had the calamari and it came with less than 10 chips and a salad with a couples of leaves and 3 slices of tomato..
