Sadly we were disappointed. The Pumpkin Risotto had no Pumpkin flavour and was gloopy. The desert was dry and overcooked. I’m not a great fan of plate smeeers!

Went on Saturday, the smoothie was just milk with the slightest taste of banana, luke warm soup completely tasteless, not sure how chef managed that to be honest.
I had a bowl of oven fries with the tiniest bit of melted cheese on 4 of them and the caramalized onions were a little bowl of chutney dumped on top.
The staff were all polite, friendly and smiling so the 2 stars for them.
I did pass the smoothie to the lady but didn’t ask for a refund, she did however have the good grace to remove it from the bill. We left most of the food and ate at home. Shame really as we’ve been several times and enjoyed it.

It may have a name that is the homophone of a famous Russian make of family vehicle, but the team at The Larder are no slow coaches. They were on it. I would put my neck out and say that my coffee was prepared in a life time best time. The Barista-to-Waitress-to-Table time was in fact so quick, it arrived after I had sat down! Many planted areas had weeds or Remnants of plants that should have been cut and put on the compost heap. Seating and most wooden structures were deteriorating. Although we had a lovely day out at Barnsdale Gardens we were a little disappointed that the gardens made by the late Geoff Hamilton weren't being looked after as they should. A lot of the planting was overgrown and definitely needed a re-fresh, we had visited before many years ago and wanted to see these mini gardens again. The newer gardens were in a lot better condition.
The cafe was a little gem, we had both lunch and later tea and cake, the prices were very reasonable and the food was good.
All the staff we spoke to were friendly and helpful.

We visited on the 26th of August and had about six hours at the gardens. We loved it. The gardens were easy to find and parking was plentiful. We started with a coffee and light breakfast which was all good and very pleasant staff. We then ventured into the gardens and apart from a short lunch stop we wandered the gardens for about four hours. There is so much to see and such a great range of plants. Yes there are some weeds and some areas that need more planting but its an eight acre site and even with all the ground's staff we saw, its a big and constant task to keep on top of such a big and deeply planted area. We very much enjoyed our visit, we purchased a few plants from the shop and we think the entry cost is reasonable. We would recommend it.

Had breakfast here early December and it was soooo good!! Very generous with the smoked salmon and the eggs were cooked so well!
I didn’t notice the sign until after I paid but they do student discount.

I visited this lovely cafe with my mum at about 4pm on Monday 30 September 2024. We were in Oakham shopping and we were just looking for somewhere for a cup of tea and a piece of cake. What a lovely surprise. Really large and spacious and beautifully decorated. We ordered two pots of tea, a slice of Nutty Banana Bread and a Pain au Choc. However, on our visit this time there was a winter offer of Tea, starter, main and sweet for £6.50 for two courses or £7.50 for three. These prices are reduced so you get what you pay for. We stopped here for a snck on our way home from Derbyshire. I don't normally leave a review however, we were really disappointed with our visit. We didn't receive a very warm welcome and were told to sit wherever we wanted. The coffee came and it was luke warm, no saucer to put the empty sugar packet and spoon on so we had to use the table. The tea cake took a long time to arrive. Not once were we asked if everything was OK. The lady who served us didn't look happy. This is a lovely, cosy little cafe which sells excellent coffee at a reasonable price. Very nicely decorated a little different and quirky. Although I did not sample them myself, they sell homemade cakes which look amazing and you can also buy fresh sandwiches. I stopped for coffee last Sunday morning. I was really disappointed by the state of the business and the quality of the drinks.

Second night we had some homemade pizzas and they were unbelievably good!
We also had plenty of cake and coffee and again were fantastic.

As chefs working in the area, we have be meaning to come to Romi as the menu looks so diverse and enticing. We were really excited going in and left extremely satisfied. The food was delicious and put together with intention and love. Menu highlights were Takoyaki, Veggie Gyoza, Short-rib Massaman & Okonomiyaki although everything was really tasty.
