We had an interesting take on a Negroni and the martini pomadoro. The real star of the show was the bartender, Hans. He is very knowledgeable about cocktails and was awesome about in engaging us in their new bar program. The standout cocktail was the Bologna, which married Italy with local Singaporean ingredients. I always say that the best cocktails tell a 3 part story and this drink kept unfolding in complexity between a fat wash, mortadella garnish, spirit forward with rum and whisky and finished with baking spices. I was extremely impressed (and that takes some effort with me when it comes to craft cocktails because I’ve seen people do it all and it’s rare that something feels original). It started one day when I was craving pasta when I saw Pocoloco. When I reached the place, the atmosphere was silent and with music playing in the background. In the menu they said their mushroom soup is homemade and it is really true, I could see the chuncks of mushroom inside the soup, the soup was not too thick and not too light just perfect and it is so creamy with the chewiness of the mushroom in the bite. Next I ordered the manzo ( a truffle cream base with beef) and is also the second picture right next to the mushroom soup, for me I am a truffle fan and the manzo satisfied me. With just one bite, I could taste the rich truffle with the creamy sauce and the al dente pasta, making it not chewy but just right, the beef was succulent and just right not too chewy and not too hard. Lastly for desert I ordered their their lava cake, once I cut inside the cake rich chocolate oozed out of the cut and amazed me at first sight when I took a bite my mouth exploded the flavour of the rich chocolate filled my mouth and with the side of the vanilla ice cream balanced the taste of slightly bitter with sweet.
