The Alcázar de Jerez de la Frontera is a Moorish castle complex that offers a glimpse into the city's rich history. The site houses Arab baths, a palace with a camera obscura, and a tower providing stunning views of the city. Visitors can explore the historic center of Jerez on guided tours, where they'll encounter remnants of Roman, Muslim, and Phoenician influences.
Fantastic alcazar with nice gardens, an old mosque/church, hamam baths and a reproduction of an ancient olive oil production machine. The cost of 5€ is nothing compared to the site itself. Definitely worth a visit!
Timur C — Google review
An amazing building but a fascinating history right in the heart of Jerez. The building features both Christian and Islamic architecture reflecting the history of the area. You can go up the tower and walk some of the walks too. All in all exceedingly good value for €5 (concessions available-ask)
M K — Google review
Amazing old fortress to visit, a must do. We went on a Wednesday at 4.30pm, and did not have to wait to enter. This gave us 1.5 hours before closing time (last entry at 5.30pm) to view the complete complex (more than enough time). The tower and bathhouse are very interesting. It takes some effort to climb the staircase to the top of the octagonal tower, but well worth it.
Simon R — Google review
I found this a really interesting historical site covering the occupation of the area by both Islamic and Christian religions. I enjoyed the architecture and the way the fortress was designed to ensure survival by harvesting rainwater and a well for water from the local aquifer.
Ian W — Google review
Well worth the visit. Cheap entrance fee for the historical lesson. The building doesn't have too much on display, could host a lot more, seems empty other than an old pharmacy display, a few paintings and quite a lot of neat posters. The real deal here is the garden and the side buildings with their history and roles on display.
Balazs C — Google review
The place was very pleasant but the audio guide didn’t have matching signs so you have to guess a little bit were you were.
Filipa R — Google review
At first I wasn't sure, if I really want to go and miss the non rainy part of the day - I would do it all over! Loved it, especially the gardens! 🥰🥰
Irena — Google review
€5 to get in. Worth the visit as there are great views from several locations. The apothecary is a curio but the historic building is the attraction.

Training center
The Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art, also known as La Real Escuela Andaluza del Arte Ecuestre, is a must-visit equestrian center in Jerez. It offers daily horse-dancing shows featuring Andalusian horses and houses a museum and stables.
Amazing place. With beautiful clever horses, riders and trainers. The tour was very informative. We only watched the training session but it was superb. I have been to Vienna and I think this was better. The staff were more than happy to answer questions and explain the workings of the yard etc. Horses are tied up in their stable an hour before working to stop them eating their beds in case they get colic. The horses are mostly stallions with some gelding who were the country dressage horses usually bay (brown in colour and a little smaller) We were told not all horses make the grade to become dressage horses and these were used for carriage driving.
Ruth — Google review
Offers a truly unique and stunning performance with magnificent horses. It’s well worth the trip from Seville to witness the elegance and skill of these wonderful creatures and their riders. An unforgettable experience for anyone visiting the region.
Vassilis E — Google review
An experience like no other where artistry meets tradition meets animal husbandry. You can tell the horses are pleased with themselves if you keep watching as they leave the arena! I recommend you get there as early as possible to explore the grounds and the exhibitions before the show. Time flies by. Two points; if you are a horsey person and own/ride them, then the shop has some nice branded kit although some (but not all) is a bit expensive. It's hard to say no!! It's a shame (despite the photos below) that the venue no longer enforces its no video/no photos rule. The ladies in front of us on the front row watched 50% of the show through their camera screens and it was quite distracting. Oddly at one point one lady had a horse pass right in front of her.. but she was watching her screen on wide angle so it looked far away! See how I was distracted. Anyway, it's a must do on your Jerez visit.. but please enjoy the moment & limit your camera time😡
M K — Google review
The horses and their riders were really elegant. The first part of the show was a little slow. But then it definitely picked up. There are some amazing feats from the horses. But much of what they do is very subtle and delicately intricate. We are not trained "horse people" so we are not the best judges. But the horses are certainly well-trained and capable.
Carol H — Google review
How the Andalusian Horses Dance was such an incredible show. The school is a beautiful place and everything was so well organized and operated.
Dave S — Google review
I bought a VIP ticket for my wife's birthday and it was worth every penny. We had a really knowledgeable guide for two hours plus visits to the palace, stables, museum and a VIP seat to watch the professional riders training and practicing. When the guide spoke of equestrian topics, horses and the education provided by the school he became beautifully animated, his enthusiasm clear to us both. A truly wonderful experience, one that will be with us for ever.
Paul O — Google review
The show in the indoor arena is beautiful and the visit of the museum is very instructive 👏

Palacio del Virrey Laserna is a lavish 13th-century neoclassical palace in Jerez de la Frontera. It has been owned by the same family since the 13th century and underwent a significant refurbishment in the 18th century, showcasing a neoclassical style. The palace is the official residence of the Counts of Andes and offers guided tours by a descendant family member, providing an insightful experience for visitors.
Gorgeous accommodation at a historical palace still functioning as a home . My room was most sumptuous with a really comfy bed and really nice pillows. There was a coffee machine in the rook. Plus snacks and biscuits. Asis and Alvaro were lovely and very helpful. The tour of the palace is highly recommended, it's absolutely gorgeous and full of history
Solveig F — Google review
The only good thing is the location. No service whatsoever. No help around. Steep stair. No elevator. Nobody to help. Small rooms. Run down. Shouldn’t be a hotel. Certainly not a palace …
Daniel R — Google review
The man working at the reception for the guided tour was very rude. I asked for a ticket in Spanish and he told me the English tour just finished. I said it’s ok I’m learning Spanish. He laughed at me and told me I need to do more learning. There was no need for that level of rudeness.
Jennifer L — Google review
Palacio del Virrey Laserna is one of my favourite places to take visitors to. I've probably been there 4 or 5 times and all the people I've taken there have enjoyed it. It's a chance to hear the history of a beautiful house from a first hand perspective which brings it all to life. You'll hear about pieces of beautiful furniture and artworks by well known artists and how they came to be in their family's possession and you'll see family photos and hear anecdotes about life in the house. The gardens are a lovely surprise too.
Cindy P — Google review
We stayed for one night. The castle looks very old and very romantic. It's located in the central part of the city near a parking, which is a great convenience. They welcomed us very kindly and expeditiously. There is a courtyard with a large charming garden with a swimming pool where you can enjoy some peace and quiet. The furnishings in the guest house are dated but well maintained and clean. There are artworks all over the walls. We were very pleasantly surprised by the compliments in the room - coffee, biscuits, cupcakes and nuts. The bed was super comfortable, which is a big plus. We didn't do the tour of the building due to lack of time, so I can't recommend it.
Sonya M — Google review
We had to go and find a cash machine as they only took cash. We left the pushchair in the lobby, as understandably we couldn't take it through the house. There are some stairs to navigate from the garden back into the house. In each room, items of interest were pointed out. Our tour guide was the son of the family, who still lives in the house. Would be great to stay in the house and amuse the pool in the garden.
Christie P — Google review
A beautiful building and a gracious host. Excellent location.

Place is falling apart, but is neat to see. I paid extra for a nice room, but they ended up putting me in a cheaper room and didn't refund the difference of $42.

Plaza del Arenal is a bustling public square located in the heart of Jerez de la Frontera's old town. Historically significant, it was once the site of duels and battles in the 16th century. Today, it features an equestrian statue of Miguel Primo de Rivera and sculptures honoring flamenco artists. The plaza is surrounded by terraced restaurants, bars, and cafes, making it a vibrant hub for locals and visitors alike.
This is plaza has a lot of history within the town. Many of the stores and businesses have come and gone. It is a great location that's centrally located to meet up with friends.

It's a very beautiful fountain and a lot of historical buildings around, only it's too hot at the afternoon in July

This is a nice plaza in the very center of Jerez. You'll find many bars and restaurants all around the plaza.
Don A — Google review
A decent guide to Jerez’s Plaza del Arenal, offering basic information about its history and nearby landmarks. It’s helpful for getting oriented and learning the essentials, though it lacks depth and engaging anecdotes. With more cultural context and recommendations, it could be much more informative — but as a general overview, it does the job.

Churches & Cathedrals
The Cathedral of Jerez de la Frontera, also known as Colegiata de Nuestro Señor San Salvador, is a Catholic church with a rich history dating back to the 17th century. Located in the Plaza del Arenal, this magnificent structure boasts a domed ceiling, an elaborate facade, and a detached bell tower that showcases both Gothic-Mudejar and Baroque architectural styles.
Absolutely beautiful building. Terrific tour at your own pace, listening in your own language to the guide as you move around the numbered points within the church itself and the attached buildings. We really enjoyed our visit and would recommend to everyone.
Judi R — Google review
Nice cathedral, with a lot of light and ample spaces. There's also a small treasure museum and a VR-experience included in the ticket, which is of 8€ per adult, in my opinion too much though, for what the cathedral has to offer.
Timur C — Google review
A very thorough and well-organized guide to the stunning Cathedral of Córdoba. It provides fascinating historical facts, clear architectural descriptions, and insightful details that enhance any visit. Perfect for both tourists and art enthusiasts. Have a great VR experience, but the schedules are a bit short, well overall it stands out for its quality and usefulness.
Sergio M — Google review
A must-see cathedral around Sevilla. I was amazed by its collection of silver holy items and thought this place was so underrated 🙃 I had no difficulties to find a place of parking nearby, after having enjoyed a local restaurant next to the Jerez cathedral, we headed to bell tower and entered the cathedral. There was not so crowded as it was a Tuesday, much more exciting than in weekends.
Linda K — Google review
Charge to go into church? Can't help thinking about the money lenders in the temple. Tourist attraction nat a church
Simon A — Google review
Visited the Cathedral of Jerez de la Frontera. Entry fee: 8 euros — greeted by the audio guide thanking me for my “generous donation.” The cathedral is beautiful, but really, that’s it. The audio guide goes on and on in epic detail for what is, frankly, a rather small site. Nearby palace costs 5 euros and offers much more for your money. I bailed after the “most beautiful” number — stunning, but my patience (and wallet) had limits. Architecture is impressive, yes. Price-performance ratio? Not even close. Go if you must, but bring your sense of humor… and a bigger wallet.
D ( — Google review
Beautiful. I didn’t expect Jerez to have such a nice cathedral. €8 entry, €6 for students. you can climb up the tower for one euro extra.
MAURICIO R — Google review
I bought 2 tickets for a guided tour of the Cathedral (not an audio-guide but an actual human guide) believing it to be in English, but it turned out to be in Spanish. This mistake was pointed out to me by the ladies at the ticket office, who first tried to rearrange the tour for another day and then, when that wasn’t possible because of our travel plans, arranged for an English-speaking colleague of theirs to come to the Cathedral and provide the tour. Alberto, who actually works at the nearby San Miguel church, arrived within 10 minutes and delivered a superb, informative tour that lasted over 2 hours. A history graduate and self-taught English speaker, Alberto provided an enormous amount of information and insight about the Cathedral and Jerez and, considering that the Cathedral doesn’t presently provide guided tours in English and that he had about 15 minutes notice, he did an amazing job. We have been fortunate enough to enjoy guided tours in Ronda, Granada and Cordoba and Alberto’s was by far the most enjoyable - he is an asset to the organisation that looks after the Jerez monuments, and we hope that guided tours in English become a regular part of their service offering; in Alberto they have an excellent guide. Many thanks also to the ladies at the Cathedral ticket office for their patience and resourcefulness in arranging our tour and turning a negative into a huge positive experience. This was one of our highlights so far of our 15 days travelling around Andalusia.

Bodegas Tradicion is a charming winery located in Jerez, specializing in sherry production. Despite being one of the younger bodegas in the area, it boasts some of the oldest and most exquisite sherries. The winery offers upscale tours where visitors can witness the aging process of their wines, including fino that is aged for at least eight years before release.
We had a wonderful visit followed by an even more wonderful Jerez tasting. Alejandro was our guide and took care of answering all of our many questions. It’s located in the heart of the city, which also makes it easy to go by foot (approximately 15minutes from the main plaza) which is very important if you are tasting alcohol. The place itself is amazing! Would recommend it 100%.
Maria M — Google review
We took a wonderful two-hour excursion through the bodega, including a sherry tasting accompanied by a visit of the private painting collection, which dates back to the 15th century. Alex (Alejandro) did a fantastic job explaining the various steps of sherry production. They also produce a wonderful brandy.
Gregor R — Google review
I really recommend the private tour suited to your needs. Not only did we learn about the fascinating history of the bodega and how sherries are made but we had the opportunity to have beyond an amazing tasting within the bodegas art gallery. I am sorry that i dont remember the name of our guide that was originally from Germany but she made the experience what it was and we are very grateful.
Omar A — Google review
We had an outstanding tour and tasting, here, and got to see the private art collection (the El Greco was our favorite). Alejandro was super informative, answering all our questions, and explaining the process the various sherries go through. They only sell VOS and VORS (20 and 30 year old) sherry, and are family run, so it has a unique and personal feel.
Chris S — Google review
Amazing tour of a smaller quality sherry production. I would recommend coming in with a little knowledge on sherry production or starting with a different tour if you're taking multiple, but would highly recommend this tour. The tapas plate and the small art gallery were also lovely touches. Save a little extra time for getting there. The path is a bit confusing and they keep the main gate locked, but it was not hard to get in and they were very helpful - just might be stressful if you're running behind!
Madison B — Google review
An excellent bodegas to visit. Pur guide was very knowledgeable and accommodating. The wines were spectacular. They specialise in older sherries with real depth of flavour. We came across this bodegas by chance and we're so glad we did.

Amazing place, amazing tour, amazing wines! Special shout-out to Maria who is an extremely knowledgeable, engaging and attentive guide 👏

Great tour of this traditional, yet, fairly new bodega. Very friendly. People took us on the tour around the bodega and gave its history followed by winetasting with the added benefit of the small art gallery with some wonderful pieces. For the uninitiated, a great way to get an understanding of the making of Sherry

This space, in addition to being a cultural center, will house the new wine and brandy museum and will have a restaurant area on the ground floor. The renovation was carried out by Fulgencio Meseguer, who, in collaboration with Angelines Cabello and Roberto Amillo, has made possible the collection of more than 8,000 pieces that will illustrate the intimate history between our city and wine. Right in front, the Virgin of the Assumption shares a gaze with the Church of San Dionisio (patron saint of Jerez), holding so many of the secrets accumulated over their centuries of friendship. Behind it, the Old Town Hall of Jerez, built in the Renaissance style, completes this square. Declared a site of cultural interest in the Historical Heritage (1943), it currently appears to be part of the current Town Hall structure, with no clues as to its potential opening to visitors. Tío Pepe is a renowned winery located in the historic center of Jerez de la Frontera, next to the Alcazar and the Cathedral. It is considered an institution due to its popular Fino, widely consumed in bars and at the Feria del Caballo every May. The winery offers tours that include exploring vineyards on a train and visiting 19th-century winery areas for a final tasting.
We had an amazing tour and lunch at the on site restaurant. It was my 50th birthday celebration and the Tio Pepe team were amazing. Having travelled by Taxi from Cadiz to the venue we were shown the vast complex where whisky, brandy and sherry are made. The sherry making process was eye opening, and an honour to see how our favourite liquor sherry 30year old VORS (Very Old Rare Sherry) “Noe” is made. Highly recommend their new products as well; the Croft Twist, was very refreshing. The lunch was an absolute treat, overlooking the cathedral, we had the place to ourselves which was super special; the chef and his team put on a splendid spread of four courses and kept our wine glasses full! A huge thanks to the team; you made my Birthday experience one to remember and we hope to visit again soon.

The Tío Pepe tour was a fantastic experience! Our guide Marta was amazing—friendly, knowledgeable, and made everything engaging. The setting was peaceful and beautiful, with plenty of interesting info about the sherry-making process. The tasting was a real treat, and the wines were excellent. Don’t miss the souvenir shop—great selection and very reasonable prices. Highly recommended!

I did the winery tour here and really enjoyed the experience. The tour takes you through various rooms with different wine barrels, includes a short ride across the winery grounds, and ends with a tasting of several wines paired with small nibbles. It was fascinating to see the winemaking process up close, and our guide was excellent—knowledgeable and clear in their explanations. A unique and enjoyable experience that's definitely worth checking out!

A good activity for a day out in Jerez. It's a beautiful place to visit. Fun ride in a small train to begin the tour. We tasted 4 diferent types of sherry for €27. I think it was a good value for the price.

Booked the English tour of this beautiful Bodega with two sherry tastings. Advanced booking is essential, even on a Monday in October. Personally I didn’t find the Guide particularly engaging and I would have liked to have learned more about the process. Also, one of the tastings was a spritz, so not pure sherry. Nevertheless, the beautiful grounds, history of the brand and central location made it a worthwhile visit. Also the modern tasting area is stunning.
David S — Google review
The winery is huge and absolutely beautiful. For sure buy tickets in advance! We mistakenly booked our tour in Spanish. There were at least two tours the very same time in English but team refused to swap the group. It was a walking tour and open space, so I honestly don’t understand what was the problem of adding us to the English group. We didn’t understand anything from 2h visit. During tasting had to remind several times that we had more products to try and also had food included. There were no explanation during tasting at all. I wish client service were better.
Mariia B — Google review
Our visit lasted far longer than we expected. A little land train tour as intro, then a walk through many of the historic solera bodegas with a detailed explanation of the sherry process and the history of Tio Pepe. The grounds of the factory include some original streets from the city, they're beautifully preserved. We tasted 4 sherries - Fino, Alfonso, Cream and a Croft Twist (a ready made sherry spritz). A good visit, time well spent.
Sean G — Google review
We did the Visita Tio Pepe, which included tasting two sherries. We got a fino and a Croft Twist, which isn't actually a sherry. Half the tour was on a land train, the other was walking around. We would have liked to learn more about the manufacturing process. It's the most visited winery in the world. We would have liked to have seen more personality, it felt like a mass produced tour. Maybe a tour with a smaller Bodega would have been more interesting. We didn't manage to book online, but asked for an English tour at the gate and was told to come back at 4pm for a 4.30pm tour.

Real Convento de Santo Domingo, located in the heart of Jerez de la Frontera's old town, is a historic monastery with a rich history dating back to the 15th century. It was one of the first temples built outside the city walls and holds significance as the site of the first Catholic mass after Jerez's reconquest. The monastery has undergone several renovations and expansions over time.
Well worth a look around. I was pleased to see the 'float' that had been carried through the streets a few days earlier - see photo.

Teatro Villamarta is a historic theater in Jerez de la Frontera, Andalusia, known for its Andalusian regionalist architecture. It hosts the International Flamenco Festival where renowned artists give master classes and nightly performances. The venue also showcases ballet and other performances. Visitors can explore nearby shops selling flamenco attire. The theater offers various seating options, with some guests recommending seats a few rows back for an optimal view of the stage.
It's become a ritual for us to visit this teatro for the International Festival of Flamenco. Nearly every day, we have a fabulous performance by the best artists of the Flamenco world. Buy the tickets in advance or enroll in a course if you want to enjoy the performances!

This is a nice theatre. However I thought paying a little extra to be on the front row of the anfiteatro seating would be worth it, however the barrier/edge of the anfoteatro almost started to obscure the view of the stage and I think you probably get an even better view a row or two back! Also, during the show there were a few mistakes with the lighting - projections flicked on and off, and at one point instead of turning the spotlights on they turned the auditorium lights on for a few seconds. In a big theatre like this I wouldn't expect that kind of mistake which felt quite unprofessional.

Lovely experience. Excellent architectural concept, there is a good view of the scene all around the theatre. Ana Morales' show "Sin Permiso" was original, beautifully choreographed and performed, and supported by outstanding artists.

The Museo Arqueológico Municipal de Jerez de la Frontera is a must-visit for archaeology enthusiasts. Housed in an 18th-century building, it has been open to the public since 1935 and showcases a remarkable collection of artifacts dating back to Paleolithic and Neolithic times. One of its most notable pieces is the Corinthian helmet found in the Guadalete River.
Interesting and beautiful museum. A lot of information about the place where the city of Jerez de la Frontera is now located. Audio guides (via QR code) and video presentations in Spanish and English. Recommended.
Aad D — Google review
This is a nice newly laid out museum. And why there is short audio guide in several languages available and about three videos that you can watch in Spanish or English. They missed out on making the descriptions generally bilingual. This would have been a small effort in comparison and a great step forward. The exhibits contain not many outstanding finds. The most unusual are the prehistoric idols.

The museum is well laid out, you're directed by signage. I don't know if there was an English language audio guide, but I had fun reading the Spanish and trying to figure it out. It's a beautiful location, outside the central places. And the senior discount can't be beat - Eu 1.8!

The Archaeological Museum at Jerez de la Frontera has recently been refurbished and renovated and in quality and type of display now rivals any provincial museum in Andalucia. There is only one drawback, most of the information is in Spanish although free audio handsets are available in a number of languages. The building that houses the museum the Old City Hall in Plaza del Mercado, was itself declared a building of Cultural Interest in 1962. The displays take you from deep prehistory through to the modern age.

The show and menu tapas was a wonderful experience! There is a performance area right in the middle of the dining tables so you get to see the performers up close for the opening ensemble act. The performers were amazing at portraying the emotions of the stories, which helped even though I had limited understanding of the songs themselves. The food was a great selection of delicious tapas, an entrée, and dessert. They were very helpful in accommodating my friend's shellfish allergy and had alternate foods available that were also very delicious. It came with one beverage (wine/beer/sherry/juice) included, but does not include cocktails as an option within the flat dinner rate. You may get additional drinks, such as cocktails or wine/beer/sherry/juice, for a separate additional cost at the end.

Fantastic! Really experienced flamenco dancer and lovely performance. It started in the middle of the floor among the audience, so one could get an intimate preview. The following segments were on stage. The tapas menu we chose was substantial and include one drink also. It is great value. Only thing I would advise is that to expect the show starting at 10pm, which was not obvious from the website. The interior stands out for its main altarpiece, which houses the image of Our Lady of Mercy, highly venerated by the people of Jerez, especially during her feast day in September. The church also houses other images of great artistic and sentimental value for local brotherhoods. The atmosphere is one of contemplation and peace, ideal for prayer and reflection. It also has a small museum of religious artifacts where you can admire crowns, mantles, and other objects related to the history of the patron saint. The Mercedarian community keeps the tradition alive and offers a warm welcome to visitors. It is a must-see for learning about Jerez's popular religious tradition and understanding the city's deep connection with its patron saint.

(Translated by Google) Although not very large, it is harmonious and the altarpiece on the front is especially attractive for its configuration in addition to containing the image of Mercy in its center. There are also several images among which the Lord of Transportation stands out, a Virgin just below the organ ( is used) and an image of the Virgin of the Head, which is nothing like the one that appears in the photos. They lie about the opening time. Came in 13.10 wanted to just have a look around, were not allowed. They are open until 14, but you are not allowed to buy a ticket. There is a lady at the entry, but she is not allowed to sell tickets, she just sits there and sends people away. Their (extremely messy and confusing) website says you can buy tickets until 14. So we spent 45 euro for train tickets from Seville to not be let in for no reason. Spanish communism in practice - yes, we are open, yes, you could get in no problem, but we just won't sell you a ticket, we do not want your money, as being helpful will not affect our salary.
