Ilfracombe Museum, established in 1932, is a charming museum housed in the Victorian laundry of the Ilfracombe Hotel. It boasts an eclectic collection of natural history items, cultural relics, and curiosities.
Great museum, I thoroughly enjoyed looking around, they have a lot of interesting things to look at, like old wedding cake, old hoovers, taxidermy etc. Friendly staff member who was very knowledgeable and informative.
Anne-Marie — Google review
Small but very informative little museum. Very centered on ilfracombe's history. Reasonable entry fee. £5 adults, £4 concessions, £3 children.
Jacqui B — Google review
Lovely little museum, with the normal eclectic mix of English treasures. I particularly enjoyed the radio 2nd world war interviews, the war photos and letters in the end room and the virtual train journey projected against the wall.
Potato’s F — Google review
I popped in here just before closing time, essentially to ask if I could use their restrooms. The kind gentleman at the entrance was sympathetic and said that I could. On my way to find them (it) I passed a multitude of artefacts which seemed to have been crammed into every available corner of this interesting place. The place is a veritable treasure trove of things from the past. Such a pity that it was too late in the day to buy tickets and explore properly. It certainly seems worth a more extensive visit!

Tucked away by the Landmark Theatre it's well worth the search. It does cost adults a small fee to enter but the exhibits along with the knowledgeable staff are great. There are trails and searches for kids to keep them alert and entertained. Numerous rooms packed with beautifully displayed pieces amaze the young and bring back memories for the older generations. A great place to spend an hour or two, the Grankids loved it too. Thank you 😊
Nick G — Google review
Popped in yesterday as it was gale force winds outside. The gift shop is right inside the door and my other half went browsing only to be very abruptly told he'd gone (over an invisible line) into the museum and would have to pay as it's not free entry. We knew it wasn't free and would have happily paid if she hadn't been so rude. Instead we walked straight out again. It was quite an upsetting experience as everywhere else we'd visited had given us such a warm welcome. Firstly, you might want a clear divide between the shop and museum, secondly you should think about how you talk to people.
Caroline M — Google review
Lovely little place, lots of things to read and look at. Worth going too if you're near by. The staff there was lovely
Heather W — Google review
Brilliant little museum. Lots of interesting things in such a small space. We got there at 4:30 and they close at 5pm, the staff were ever so obliging by asking for a donation instead of charging us full price. Highly recommend!!! Wish we had more time to explore, until next time.

Castles
Watermouth Castle, located in the charming coastal resort of Ilfracombe, offers a delightful day out for visitors of all ages. The Victorian castle is filled with an array of curiosities and attractions, including theme park rides, play areas, and a beautifully landscaped garden. Inside the castle's Great Hall, guests can marvel at magnificent suits of armor, antique toys, and an impressive collection of Victorian memorabilia.
Let's get one thing straight. This place isn't just for kids! We don't have kids, and we absolutely loved our visit. It was money well spent, the gardens are spectacular, the castle is crammed full of interesting 'stuff', it's quirky, it's fun, the staff are friendly and helpful. We arrived as it opened and spent most of the day exploring. Press buttons and watch the magic unfold. Release your inner child. We laughed so much on the water ride (yes, adults can ride it). The weather was great the day we visited, so this obviously helped. Yes, some parts are quite dated, but that's what made it charming. The water fountain show had everyone clapping along. If you're expecting a historic castle with lots to read and things you can't touch, then it's probably not for you. However, if you want to have fun, laugh, and be entertained (and brave enough to open doors, press buttons and see what's around the corner 😉), then you will love it... I can't wait to bring my mum here!
Paula — Google review
The castle is lovely to walk around. The dungeons were good fun and the light/water fountain show was fantastic. There's so much to do and see. So many buttons to press and lots of rides for the kids throughout the grounds. We easily spent the day here and the kids loved it so much we went back for another full day. It has a couple of places to eat, toilets throughout and is dog friendly.
Tammy M — Google review
Really lovely place to visit! One of the best days outs ever, what a place! Wow! So much fun! So many different experiences, areas and quirks! A few core memories made! Good value for money. Bring plenty of 2 and 10 penny pieces! The castle is lovely to walk around, steep in places though. The dungeons were good fun and the light/water fountain show was fantastic. There's so much to do and see. So many buttons to press and keep you engaged all the way around. Lots of rides for the kids throughout the grounds. We easily spent the whole day here. It has a couple of places to eat, toilets throughout and is dog friendly.
Gemma B — Google review
Fantastic famuly stay in the castle apartments. Clean, comfortable, and a great location for views across the bay and access to the North Devon cost. Access to the private pool and to the theme park were a great bonus. Welcome hamper was generous and a nice touch. Considering all apartments were occupied it was stunningly quiet and peaceful. Would highly recommend for a family holiday.
Peter W — Google review
First time here & we pleasantly surprised. The castle is a castle in name only, it was built to resemble a castle as a private residence. Its attractions are aimed at children, but inside the castle there are some interesting artifacts. The water fountain show was also worth a look.
MARK F — Google review
This was a great venue. We arrived at 10am and stayed until almost 4pm. The whole family were kept entertained. It was also very wheelchair friendly. It is hard to keep so much of it accessible being built in a very steep hill and being also an old castle but it was very cleverly thought it to enable access to nearly every nook and cranny. The staff were very friendly and helpful, offering to assist and also happy and friendly with entertaining the children. Everyone if then acted like they were happy to be there so it looks to be a good employer too. Thank you for a great day!!

Brilliant day out. Loved every minute. So much to see and do. Really good value for money. Staff was really friendly and helpful. Great memories made. My family loved the world longest slide and toboggan. Best day out ever.
Tracy B — Google review
A wonderful place to stay, we had a weeks family holiday and the Grandchildren loved it. When you stay you get wrist bands that allow full entry for the whole family, there is so much to see and do, and the children loved going swimming every day. We had days at the sandy Beach at Woolacombe which were lovely, and visited The Water Mill for superb lunch, Cakes and Pots of tea. A great traditional British Holiday was really enjoyable for all of us and the local people were wonderful. Highly recommended- Paul H. St. Albans.

Ilfracombe Harbour is a charming destination on the North Devon coast, offering a mix of historical and modern attractions. The medieval pier and chapel provide a glimpse into the town's past, while the controversial sculpture Verity by artist Damian Hirst adds a unique touch. Visitors can explore a fascinating museum, enjoy homemade fudge from Rolys Fudge on the Quay, and embark on boat trips for fishing or sightseeing.
Visited yesterday when the sun was shining which made the sea look lovely and blue. A couple small beaches where dogs can swim or dig in the sand. Various shops, pubs & eateries around the town & harbour some with lovely views looking over the water. Various boats in the harbour making it a very picturesque setting. Plenty of parking, or as we did, regular buses.
Paul B — Google review
Not a place I was bothered about visiting.... how wrong could I be? A beautiful picturesque holiday town. Nice little harbour and very clear sea's. Grab yourself a nice little boat trip while your there. Went on a lovely 2hr coastal trip on the yellow catamaran boat. Plenty of food places to eat. Call in and see the life boat while you're there. Very friendly staff and crewmen, had a laugh and nice chat with them. Don't forget to pop some money in their box... all in a good cause.
David C — Google review
Went in October. Parked right at the harbour. Some clever bugger put a sticker on the parking meter saying "all day" but then it only dispensed one hour of parking. (The parking isn't cheap but takes card payments) We went and got a delicious Cornish ice cream (cherry) from the shop across the road and walked round to the quay side of the harbour. We came back a few days later but used the national trust car park some distance away (free) and walked through the residential area along the cliffs edge. Ilfracombe is only a tiny town but is packed full of shops, and lots of independent businesses which I love to see. Vintage, chocolate, artisanal stores, games and hobbies, etc.
Clare A — Google review
Lovely little town in North Devon. Stunning views of the coastline and lot of coastal walking paths. It’s a lively and feel good place. There are trips to Lundy island from the harbour however pre booking might be necessary.

Lovely area to visit, shops for souvenirs, food and drinks and boat trips, gets very busy so although lots of parking, arrive in plenty of time to find it wait for a space. Car parking machine takes cards and reasonable considering the location. Lovely and quaint area to visit

Love wandering around here, am really impressed with the verity statue. Parking is a little more than I wanted to pay, however I was going on the Wildlife boat trip. Lots of spots where you can buy fishing bait, or book on one of the various boat trips

Located on Lantern Hill, overlooking the harbor, St Nicholas Chapel is a historic 14th-century building with a rich maritime history. Originally serving as a chapel for seafarers, it later transformed into a lighthouse during the dissolution of the monasteries in the 16th century. The chapel has been home to lighthouse keepers and continues to operate as the oldest working lighthouse in the UK since 1361.

A great place to visit when you are at the harbour in Ilfracombe. It's a steep climb up but you are rewarded with stunning views from the old sailors chapel. The volunteer was also excellent and talked us through the fascinating history of the chapel. Free to visit.

Great place to visit whilst in Ilfracombe and in the harbour - great views on a sunny day - even if the chapel is closed you can still go up and admire the views - pictures of the views taken -
ANN L — Google review
What a lovely treat to go up Lantern Hill and peak inside. The building dates back to 1321. It has had many uses over the years! It was a place of worship and also a lighthouse keeper home. With a family of two adults and 14 children. Definitely worth a viewing when in Ilfracombe.
Helen C — Google review
Dating back to 1321 the chapel was built as a place of worship for the people of Ilfracombe living and working around the harbour. From the middle ages the chapel maintained a light to guide shipping into the harbour. It is still a working lighthouse today and is said to be the oldest in the country. When Henry VIII dissolved the monasteries in 1540 St Nicholas ceased to be a chapel. Around 1849 Mr John Davey began living there as lighthouse keeper with is laundress wife Elizabeth raising a family of 14 children. John died in 1870 but the family lived there until 1871when the family moved down to the Quay. The chapel has also been used as a summer reading room but then it remained much neglected until 1962 when it was restored by the Rotarians of the town. The chapel is today regarded as a special place of interest within the town and is an iconic landmark overlooking the harbour. The old porch has been transformed into a small chancel and occasional services are held there. The chapel is maintained by Ilfracombe Rotary Club and run largely by volunteers. It is free to look around but donations are welcome. All the money raised goes to charity.

Great setting on the North Devon coast. An unusual, unique theatre. It's always a thrill to go and see a variety of shows over the years. The Bar area could be a lot bigger to accommodate more oeople and the car parking is almost impossible when the theatre is full causing an anxious time riding around Ilfracombe trying to find somewhere to park. Crazy.

Hele Corn Mill Tearoom is a charming spot located just 300m from the beautiful Hele Bay Beach. The tearoom has been honored with the Devon Life Best Tearoom award four times, showcasing its reputation as a top destination in North Devon. Visitors can enjoy freshly baked goods made with stone-ground flour from the on-site mill, creating delightful treats.
Family owned mill and tearoom; free tour of the working mill is available. They have a great selection cakes with the wholewheat flour milled at their mill and use in their baking. Their scones with jam and clotted cream is a must try with a pot of tea. Serene atmosphere; sometimes reservation is recommended as it gets very busy. Do visit if you’re travelling around Ilfracombe.
Suchithra S — Google review
Oh my gosh- what a find!!! The cutest, friendliest little tearoom in Devon!! It's a working mill, using the flour to make cakes!! Didn't catch the owners name but he was really friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. I managed to book online as the Facebook page said it does get very busy (it wasn't too busy when we arrived so walk-ins are definitely ok). The mill is working and has lots of info included to enjoy walking around. Huge choice of scones and cakes; we tried a variety of things Including fruit scones, cheese scones, chocolate cake and raspberry cakes (all made on site!). (My little boy gave the double chocolate cake 1000/10 so it's have been good!) Everything was fresh and delicious!! There's such a lovely, relaxed atmosphere, surrounded by the sound of the water mill and lots of lovely wildlife. We were offered some puzzles and brain teaser games which the kids (And adults) enjoyed. We will most certainly be back!
Laura G — Google review
I can't say enough good things about this place. The best scones I've had in the country, let alone in Devon & Cornwall. Fantastic cakes and sandwiches with flour from the mill. A delightful garden setting, and gentle warm service which makes you feel right at home. It's also always a joy to look round a mill and learn more about how wheat, our country's staple crop, is produced and processed. Seeing the benefits of doing it right really shows how wrong we've gone with commercial agriculture and food production.
Jacob W — Google review
What a gem of a little place this is. I came across this place searching for "best scones" and I can guarantee the reviews aren't a let down. The gentlemen (Presumably who runs the place) is a kind, attentive man who took our orders. They have 2 types of scones (plain and fruit) and few choices of cakes. The scones were freshly baked, served with clotted cream and jam and the price was so reasonable compared to other places. And so were the cakes that my kids tried. The mill (wasnt operational at that time due to no water - time of the season) was opened for us to have a walk around and there is a little gallery where a video is shown on how the grains are turned to wheat etc - very informative. It was quiet and peaceful place, where you can have your cake and eat it too (pardon the pun) - with a nice cup of tea.
Hari S — Google review
Fantastic little place to sit for a delicious cream tea. Incredible scones, crunchy on the outside and perfectly pillowy inside; nice generous helping of cream and jam too and full sized pot of tea. We even took some scones away with us to enjoy at home. Nice option to take a walk through the old mill after as well. Definitely worth the visit.
Naomi H — Google review
Fantastic little place with friendly staff. We came here to have scones which are made of the flour from the mill so it has slight thicker texture. Beautiful building and garden.

In the charming town of Ilfracombe, visitors can't miss the striking public art installation known as Verity. Created by renowned artist Damien Hirst, this controversial 20-meter tall stainless steel and bronze statue depicts a pregnant Amazonian figure holding the Sword of Justice and Scales. Situated at the entrance to Ilfracombe harbor, Verity is an allegory of truth and justice that has sparked diverse opinions since its unveiling in 2012.
To have an incredible sculpture by one of the greatest living artists in Ilfracombe is amazing. A modern day colossus of Rhodes in North Devon.
Follow B — Google review
The sheer size of this statue gets you. You don't necessarily expect something on this epic scale in a place like Ilfracombe. I used to be a regular visitor 1980s/1990s but hadn't been for about 20 years. Had no idea about the statue until I got here. Great surprise. Despite the size of it, the statue fits perfectly at the mouth of Ilfracombe's harbour, which already enjoys a dramatic setting. Like someone else mentioned, the statue and the seeing reminds you of Colossus of Rhodes. Why truth and justice? Why the skin layers? I don't know. Maybe I'll look it up later, but my initial reaction is, wow - look at the size of that thing! Cool! Infective is one of my favourite places. This statue has improved it.
Paul D — Google review
Amazing sculpture towering over the Quay at Ilfracombe. This bronze statue is apparently on loan. It's a striking piece of artwork by Damien Hirst. The pregnant lady with a sword held high above her head looks out across the Bristol channel. It stands over 20 metres high. There is an information board explaining about the statue and how it represents 'Life'. Has to be seen up close to be really appreciated.
Paula — Google review
Verity is a striking bronze sculpture by artist Damien Hirst, located at the edge of Ilfracombe Harbour in North Devon. Standing 20 metres tall, the statue depicts a pregnant woman holding a sword in one hand and scales behind her back, symbolising justice and truth. One side of the statue shows the woman's outer form, while the other side is anatomically exposed, revealing muscles, organs, and the unborn baby inside her womb. Installed in 2012, Verity has become a major landmark in Ilfracombe, attracting visitors from around the country. The statue stands on a base of legal books, further reinforcing its symbolic message of justice and strength. The detail in the sculpture is impressive, and its scale makes it visible from many points around the harbour. Public opinion has been mixed—some admire its bold design and powerful message, while others find it controversial or challenging to look at. Regardless of opinion, it has undeniably put Ilfracombe on the cultural map. Visiting Verity in person allows you to appreciate the craftsmanship and the impact of the piece. It’s a thought-provoking work of art that adds a unique and modern element to the traditional coastal scenery of the town.
Ajay R — Google review
We were surprised to discover this impressive, large, 20 meter high statue of a woman at the mouth of Ilfracombe Harbour. It is a bronze sculpture created by Damien Hirst. On one side it depicts the outer form with her holding a sword and scales - justice and truth. The other side is a bit more gruesome showing her internal organs and a baby developing in her womb. Not the sort of thing you'll find gracing most harbour entrances.
Ian K — Google review
A truly awesome sculpture and what a surprise as I hadn't heard about it. Worth a visit to Ilfracombe just for this. Thanks Damian !!
Peter B — Google review
Absolutely stunning artwork and interpretation of justice and strength, the statue is so unique and as you approach from afar its immense size is incredible and leaves you in awe, the information boards below the statue are a great addition and give so much information.

Superb! Amazing restaurant with perfect food, accompanied by fabulous service from all of the friendly team. Relaxed and informal atmosphere, lovely decorated restaurant. A good choice of freshly made dishes, with locally sourced ingredients and prepared with pride to create the perfect evening. Portion sizes were perfect, with plenty of fresh vegetables and potatoes to accompany the meal. During our visit to Ilfracombe this restaurant was fully booked each evening they opened, so advance booking is essential.

As soon as we entered, the hostess was so friendly, informative and inviting, I'm really indecisive and she was really happy to advise me on what to have. The Hake was to die for! We ended up having 3 courses and coffee! We will definitely be back next time we're in Ilfracombe and would 100% recommend going here. It's not flashy or obvious compared to some of the other restaurants but so happy we found it 😊 😍

We had a wonderful trip out on 15th August. We went on the Smugglers Coves trip for an hour as the kids had never been on a boat on the sea. They loved it as did we! Skipper was very knowledgeable and we would definitely book again

We had a really lovely boat trip , sights were so lovely . Husband is disabled and the crew were brilliant and helpful with him . Grandchildren thought it was fun . Sadly we didn’t see much wildlife but the views made up for it . Would love to do the evening tour at some point
Big K — Google review
We (2A, 3C) went on the Smugglers Cave trip during the summer holidays. Staff were very friendly and it was enjoyable enough but could have been better. You're told to arrive half an hour before the sailing time. We arrived 35 minutes early and were told to come back in 5 minutes - fair enough. However, having returned in literally 4 minutes they had already checked other people in who had then gone to queue up to get on the boat. This meant that we were not far forward enough in the queue to get a seat at the top of the boat which would have been nice (and was annoying as we'd actually arrived before those people!). The trip took us along the coastline, and the odd cave was pointed out, but the commentary mostly consisted of pointing out various beaches that you could visit. As it was called a Smugglers Cave cruise, I was expecting some tales of the olden days, maybe some exciting stories about local smugglers, or least even some information about what was being smuggled and where they were taking it from the caves. We didn't get any of that. We ended up sat on the Port (LH) side of the boat which meant that we were on the opposite side of the coastline. No matter, we thought, we'll see all the caves in more detail on the way back. However what actually happens is that the boat slowly hugs the coastline on the way up the coast, and then tears back much further out to sea on the way back, so that didn't work out either! Overall it was fun enough to have a little ride on a boat, but if you want more than that it's the luck of the draw whether you end up with a good seat on the boat or not, and you certainly won't learn anything new about smugglers.

Nestled in a charming heritage building at the end of Ilfracombe's oldest street, Relish Bar & Bistro is the perfect spot for a quick meal before exploring local pubs. Known for its exceptional seafood, particularly locally caught fish, this bistro also caters to non-seafood lovers with an extensive menu. Diners rave about their delightful fish sharing platter and flavorful fish tacos, all served with attentive yet unobtrusive service.
The food was absolutely outstanding, the staff are attentive and friendly but don't hurry you. The atmosphere is really relaxed, with all the new restrictions etc. You feel that all the tables are spaced well, they have thought of everything to make your dining experience as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. Would definitely highly recommend.

We were very lucky to get a late cancellation here and were really glad we did. Extremely warm welcome and awesome food - the octopus starter was one of the best dishes we’ve had for a while. Highly recommended!
Kate M — Google review
We regularly visit north Devon and this was recommended to us. We will be passing on this recommendation to anyone that will listen (including you reading this). We had the fish sharing platter to start, all elements of this complimented each other beautifully. Followed by the fish tacos, again so many flavours so well balanced. The service was perfect, attentive without being pushy. This was one of the nicest restaurants we have ever eaten at and will visit again. Two things of note: 1) It is a relatively expensive night out. You are getting fine food for your money. 2) The reason why the service is perfect is that they don't ram the restaurant full. The plus side is that the ambience is a really relaxed environment. The negative, you MUST book.

great part of the south west coastal path here. lovely little town of local businesses. there is a chip shop on the quay that sells gluten free fish & chips!! a major find in a sea side town for gluten free people!
Ben R — Google review
The town is lovely, with beautiful views. Great foodie places too. Please be aware of the seagulls, we were enjoying a delicious, warm freshly baked pasty in the sunshine on a bench near the theatre. We kept our food mostly in the bag and held close to our chests. All of a sudden I had an almighty thump on my back and a flock of seagulls snatched my food. Fortunately I was only shocked and uninjured but left very shaken. We have seen people hurt by these menaces. In another seaside town one man was lucky not to lose his eye as he had an ice cream snatched, he was left with a very nasty cut on his face. Crazily the RSPB believe herring gulls to be in danger of extinction and the poor little things only attack humans because they are starving due to humans eating all the fish.

Scenic spot
Little Hangman is a challenging yet rewarding hike that starts from Combe Martin. The trail begins at the upper car park and involves a steep incline, with some flat parts along the way. Despite the effort, hikers are rewarded with stunning views throughout the journey. Proper footwear is essential due to gravel terrain. The walk leads to a great viewpoint and offers fantastic vistas, making it well worth the effort for nature enthusiasts.
Start off with the path by the beach and up the grass hill. There is parking down the bottom in a car park. The walk is fairly steep and full of gravel, so correct footwear is required. It's quite steep to begin with but does flatten out. Fantastic views and even better if you carry on to the summit.
R J — Google review
Beautiful view!!! The walk up isn't that bad, but I wouldn't recommend it for older people wanting a nice stroll x

Amazing view. Difficult walk up several step hills.
David S — Google review
A great hike from Combe Martin. Park in the upper car park in Combe Martin and then take the road up the hill (not the dog track) and you’ll find this incredible walk. It’s a very steep incline and you’ll certainly feel it in your legs. Mostly uphill all the way with a few flat parts. Plenty of benches for resting. The views are stunning though and it’s well worth the trip up. I walked to the first summit and back at a sensible pace and it took an hour. Perfect coastal walk but you’ll need a good level of fitness to do it.
Graham T — Google review
The walk is very difficult, myself and partner found it very hard and we are in our twenties. Very muddy, steep, slippy, overgrown and although we made some way with our dog, I would not recommend it as suitable for dogs. The view was nice of the beach and because we had dog and it was so difficult we decided to loop back around towards the town, rather than continue to the top. The views are nice but you must come prepared, good walking boots, drinks, protection from nettles etc on path. I must say the path is very enclosed all the way so you don’t get to see the view a lot. We preferred walks like valley of rocks and baggy point.

The on-site tea room offers a delightful selection of cakes and scones made with the flour milled at the Corn Mill.
Such a beautiful and interesting place to visit. Short video in the gallery was worth watching. The food afterwards was fantastic, sandwiches and a cheese scone, followed by a fruit scone with Jam and cream. It was so good we returned the next day for take away. Can't wait to visit again when we are next in the area. Lovely friendly welcome.

Fascinating tour of the Old Corn Mill that is still working to produce flour for making cakes in their tea room. Fabulous scone with cream & jam and the most adorable polka dot mugs for our tea. A heritage gem that deserves to be preserved. Well worth a visit.

A very interesting place to visit - 16th century mill which still makes flour. You can have a tour of the mill, see the film describing how it works, and, first of all, enjoy Devonshire cream tea - delicious scones with clotted cream. You can have a very tasty coffee served professionally with warm milk in a jug. The owners offer a selection of homemade cakes.

Had the most enjoyable cream tea in this very quaint tea room in Hele nr Ilfracombe. All cakes and scones freshly baked onsite using flour from the mill. A large selection of cakes also if cream tea isnt your thing. I would highly recommend if visiting the area.

A truly delightful tea room with the most delicious food in wonderful surroundings. The owners are delightful and couldn’t have been more accommodating. We all had the most amazing cream tea. If it’s bad weather, get there early or expect a wait as they will be popular. It’s mostly outdoors sat under the covered and sheltered pagoda. Fabulous. 5 minute walk to the beach afterwards to skim some stones. Perfect afternoon. *note from the photos we had Cornish and Devonshire scone methods. Love this impossible argument!

We loved our stay here with the whole family. Great location and views (although getting to and from Woolacombe in the summer would be a pain because the road is narrow and they'd be a lot of traffic. It was good for us in September) Fab bedrooms and comfy beds. Downstairs wet room was great for the surf gear and dogs. We loved it and would stay there again.

Seacroft is perfectly positioned to enjoy a variety of beaches, the village of Mortehoe and Woolacombe. Having all these places in walking distance means there is no need to use the car unless you want to go further afield. The house has recently been redecorated by the new owners and is spacious and beautiful. It has everything you need for your holiday and the many bathrooms and wet room are a real bonus. Watching the sunset nightly from the decked terrace was just wonderful. The owners were friendly and helpful from start to finish and would highly recommend this property.

Beautiful house, beautiful location... Yes, they have WiFi and TV as well as plenty of board games, jigsaws and books to read. Turn left or right and a short walk will bring you to village shops, a pub or secluded coves or wide open beaches. The house itself is decorated to a high standard, the beds are comfy with beautiful clean crisp bed linen and views from each room are stunning. Although we're here in a group of 10 the house and surroundings are big enough that it never feels cramped.

We recently stayed at seacroft for our annual family holiday to Devon. Seacroft is a spacious, light and airy house. The kitchen and diner are a large family space which offer fantastic views over the cliffs and shore. Our kids enjoyed the 2 reception rooms, watching dvds in one and playing in the other. The en-suite bedrooms are of a high standard and clean. The 2 front double bedrooms have double doors with a balcony and it was lovely to fall asleep with these open listening to the sea. We really enjoyed the outdoor spaces with fantastic views. Ample parking! The downstairs shower room was a bonus for showering after being at the beach all day and washing our wetsuits in.

We had a fantastic holiday with our sons, grandchildren, as well as our two border terriers. This fabulous house was perfect for the nine of us, with breathtaking views over Woolacombe Bay and across to Lundy Island. Regardless of whatever the weather was doing, the views alone could keep you occupied all day. Nothing is too much trouble from the excellent owners and would highly recommend.
Warren K — Google review
We stayed here for a week in September as a group of 10 adults, all retired and had a fabulous time. Firstly the owners were extremely helpful with my many questions before arrival. The house was perfect for us all, the kitchen well equipped and the dining table superb for all our meals, such comfortable dining chairs, convivial table and wonderful sunsets out of the window at dinner. The various outside seating areas were lovely when the wind dropped and we felt so spoilt having a bathroom to every bedroom. It was a 10 minute walk down the road to the surfing beach at Combesgate and back home afterwards a hot shower just inside the back door and a line outside to hang the wetsuits - just perfect. We managed to get three fairly large cars into the parking area (a Ford Mondeo estate and 2 Audi A4s) and then paid for a weekly pass for our 4th car at the village car park for only £20. It was nice to find a little tea, coffee and biscuits to start us off and some spices, salt, sugar and oil left from previous occupants. The decor was lovely, a real sea-side feel to the whole place. We would definitely come here again.

The Olive Room is a nice little spot, you can easily miss it walking down Fore Street! We had a delicious vegetarian sharing platter here with wine – the chef was kind enough to make their sharing platter vegetarian by replacing a couple of items. We really enjoyed the feeling of this place, ! Very social with lots of ambiance and charm . They let us come in even tho it was very crowded and they knew we werent going to eat . Earlier they saw us looking and were very welcoming . My husband can't drink a lot because of his afib but I got a couple of glasses of wine and did not as specify the size of glass so ended up apparently having the medium size which was a bit more than I meant to spend , but I didn't mind because they were very nice and the music was out of this world -and free ! Plus a very tasty choice of wines .It's very small for a music venue which makes it cozy , but also means it's hard to order . I think they might have their regulars but we didn't feel excluded. I applaud what they are trying to do and wish them much luck.! We hope to make it to the sea shanty night on Thurs and are sad we missed the Sunday afternoon music . The live jazz was organic and sublime !

Best curry I've ever had. We went on a Thursday, which was the night that the Sea Shanty Choir sang. ABSOLUTELY AWESOME holiday experience 5 stars is not enough Thanks Sindy and Ian

Amazing food and highly recommended. New menu every week and many different local achohol brands to choose from. Sea shanty choir every Thursday which is amazing. Lots of fun and many laughs.

Historical landmark
Nestled in the picturesque Kiln Field near Park Lane, Lime Kiln stands as a beautifully preserved Grade II listed structure that pays homage to the village's rich lime-burning history. Recently restored, it offers not only a glimpse into the past but also serves as a delightful spot for visitors. Whether you're enjoying lunch with friends or taking a leisurely stroll, this charming location provides stunning views of the iconic 'Verity' statue and surrounding valley.
The best mocha I have ever had - a real find in a quieter part of Ilfracombe. Lovely staff and interesting menu. We only had time for a hot drink but will return for a meal. Excellent and great view.

Took a friend for her Birthday lunch, rather than a present. Myself as designated driver gave her the opportunity to have a drink and be "Girls Who Lunch". Great view looking over to the 'Verity' statue. The sourdough bread, for the sandwiches, just added that bit extra. Spent a good 2 hours chatting and eating. Noticed people coming in for a drink hot/cold/alcoholic after a walk, some with dogs. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Disappointed that the dessert menu wasn't on offer at lunch. We had to ask for condiments. But large table sizes being served food amongst the more casual clientele. All served with good grace. So, you can ignore the "little things". Especially as I received extra steamed milk for my latte 😉

A monument to Combe Martin's important lime-burning industry, this example has weathered well but could be looked after better.

A great reminder of the heritage of this region. Glad to see it protected for all to see. Lovely views of the village and the valley too. Always a lovely addition to an evening walk.
