The Arkansas State Capitol, located at 500 Woodlane Street in Little Rock, is a grand state capitol building that offers free guided tours and temporary exhibits. It is a historical landmark constructed in the early 1900s and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. Visitors can explore the complex, which includes monuments and memorials, free of charge every day of the week.
We enjoyed an awesome tour led by Cheryl, including a visit with Terry in the Treasury, followed by a great lunch in the cafeteria (great, friendly employees!) - Highly recommend -

Good looking capitol. People are friendly and informative inside. They have some cool monuments outside. Parking is not that easy to find.

The tour of the capital is a must do if you are visiting Little Rock. The capitol is beautiful, with white marble and impeccable craftsmanship. Cheryl was our tour guide, she was so friendly and happy to answer any questions. As a special treat we visited the vault.
Sharon R — Google review
Both my husband and I were born and raised in Arkansas, but neither of us had ever toured the state capitol building -- until we found ourselves with some time to kill while back in the state visiting relatives. The building is beautiful and elegant and on the day we visited, it was very quiet. We only saw a few other visitors. We did a self-guided tour while awaiting a guided one. Our guide, Nancy Martinsen, led us around the elaborate structure while telling us all about how it came to be built where it was and by who. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit inside and then went outside to look at the Little Rock Nine monument located on the capitol grounds. Everyone we encountered was very friendly and welcoming.

We had the opportunity/honor to visit the Arkansas State Capitol in MAY_FY2024 and it was an amazing experience, a great opportunity to learn more about Arkansas history and legacy. We did a plant tour and for sure it's a remarkable building. Definitely, it's a place that deserves my respect. It was a privilege.
Robertson S — Google review
Neat federal building. Ongoing tours throughout the day with the most amazing staff! Senate on south side, House on north end. Treasury and governors office inside. Treasury tour is hella cool. Highly recommend.
Driven — Google review
Have been to many state and provincial capitol buildings over the past 4 years and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The grounds are beautiful and the interior is simple but very pretty in its own right. The self-guided tour booklet is well-done and was able to see everything in 1.5 hours. Great presentation of architecture and history.

Excellent from start to finish. Very pleasant security guards . We had an informative tour from Mr. Sims. He was pleasant and and knowledgeable. The decor was beautiful and so was the Capitol. Nice gift shop.

The Old State House Museum in Little Rock, Arkansas is a National Historic Landmark building that showcases permanent and traveling exhibits on the state's history. The museum is housed in the original state capitol building of Arkansas, which has stood since 1947 and features Greek revival style architecture. Visitors can explore significant events that have shaped the state's history, such as the admission of Arkansas to the Union and pivotal legislative decisions.
Very nice museum with tons of information about Arkansas. Well-kept and curated, with many exhibits throughout. Exterior of building is beautiful and grounds are landscaped nicely. Docents very helpful, they were available for questions, but not hanging over your shoulder, which I appreciated very much. Would go again if in the area.

Cute attraction walking past. Never went inside but info booths set up outside with sculptures. Historic style is attractive to view.

An interesting piece of history to check out. It will take you about an hour to see the entire exhibit. You will learn about the history of the building, its occupants, renovation, and a lot more. Admission is FREE. As a bonus, there is usually another exhibition available in one of the wings of the building. Currently it’s the “Play it Loud” - a look back at the music events that took place in the state.
Filip M — Google review
Beautiful building and restoration. Parking is a challenge. There is no onsite parking, so be prepared to park elsewhere and walk, or take the trolley
Karan P — Google review
Wonderfully restored and maintained historical former state house that should be on everyone's "must visit" list if in the Little Rock area. So much history is contained within the grounds and building and plaques within the building provide brief explanations. The grounds are well-preserved and provide a flavor of the classic Southern charm. The gift shop has many items that will interest any tourist. And don't forget to leave a donation in the box if you can (the museum is free).

A very well done museum. The staff was incredibly friendly and informative. The museum covered so much of the history of Arkansas over the years in a very interesting manner. We spent several pleasant hours wandering through the halls enjoying the various displays.

Stopped by this museum during a business trip to Little Rock. The admission was free and you can see all the exhibits in less than an hour so it is a great way to spend some time and learn some Arkansas history. There are two accessible levels and some exhibits outside as well. It was a nice stop and I would visit again in the future.

Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site is a significant landmark in American civil rights history. It commemorates the 1957 desegregation crisis and the bravery of the Little Rock Nine, who were the first African American students to attend the school after the Brown v. Board of Education ruling. The site stands as a testament to their struggle for civil rights and is located on Daisy L. Gatson Bates Drive in Little Rock, Arkansas.
They offer a 1 pm guided tour every day. Our tour guide Ranger Randy was very knowledgeable and gave an excellent tour, but unfortunately he is retiring so you’ll probably get another tour guide. Hopefully they will be just a good. Make sure to book reservations in advance if you want the guided tour, or just stop in anytime if you want to do a self guided tour. The guided tour really makes the story come alive, so I would recommend it. Our tour lasted about 2 hours and was half inside and half outside. There is also a visitors center if you want to look around on your own.
Thor Y — Google review
Visiting Little Rock Central High School was a powerful experience. The building itself is a stunning example of Gothic Revival architecture, standing as a testament to resilience and progress. Walking through its historic grounds, I couldn't help but reflect on the pivotal events of 1957 and the Bravery of the Little Rock Nine. The site balances beauty with the weight of its past, serving as an essential educational landmark that reminds us of the ongoing journey toward equality. A must-visit for those interested in civil rights history. The visitors center is free and incredibly well done. Take your time!!! The high school is still a working and functional school so there is no admittance to inside but you can walk the beautiful grounds.

Fortunate to have been able to attend the ranger-led program on our visit - A very important event in our country’s history that should not be forgotten -

Informative, cozy museum! They’re well-arranged and good story-telling. We can visit outside the high school too.

Nice. School is still in use. Huge. Principal was nice to let us in even though it wasn’t open to the public that day.
Kerra H — Google review
The experience of being there is breathtaking. Honor history while you can! Let me remind you all, it is an active school. So don't walk in. I almost walked in because I initially thought it was a museum. When I saw a young high school aged student with a bookbag walk out with her mom, I realized class was in session! The museum is across the street from the school.
V. D — Google review
Very interesting and informative site and museum. The museum is across the street from the high school so you are able to learn about the history and actually see where it took place. The museum gave the history of the high school and the efforts to integrate and also prevent integration. They had videos, pictures, and some objects. Lots of information to take in so take your time it’s worth it! The subject was handled in a sensitive and informative manner.

The William J. Clinton Library and Museum in Little Rock offers a fascinating look into the life and presidency of Bill Clinton. The museum spans three floors and features a wide array of exhibits, including documents, photographs, and artifacts from his time in office. Visitors can explore replicas of the Oval Office and Cabinet Room, as well as displays showcasing daily life at the White House. Additionally, the museum is set within a 30-acre park, providing a scenic backdrop for visitors to enjoy.
In May 2025, we visited the William J. Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Arkansas. The Clinton Library is impressive. The displays are amazing and it is clean and well laid out. Even though I do not agree with many of Clinton's politics, I left having more respect for Clinton and what he accomplished as a US President. I highly recommend visiting the Clinton Presidential Library.
John C — Google review
Amazing museum - a must see for anyone in the area. They've done a really nice job at bringing the story to life and you really get to relive the era in your mind. The exhibits are really well done and very detailed. The staff is super friendly, warm and welcoming. The cabinet room is a favorite as well as the oval office of course. I brought the kids (under 10) and they had enough to keep entertained for a few hours while I walked down memory lane.
Joseph K — Google review
We LOVED this museum! We didn’t have any expectations— just knew we wanted to go and check it out. Well lucky for us, we were blown away. The architecture and intention behind the building’s design was just as amazing as the exhibits inside. The best part was our tour guide, Mark, who was so friendly, personable, and knowledgeable about the building and US History. He truly made our visit extra special and memorable! The second best part was the portrait gallery! The art work of the Clinton’s was unbelievable! We also loved learning about their pets, Boots and Socks and seeing all of the treasures they were gifted by foreign diplomats. A must see for $12!!
Denyel B — Google review
Going back to my home state can be more than just visiting relatives. I had to make time to visit the Clinton Library again. When I visited the first time, it had just opened and my husband didn't get to see it. The library is a fun, educational experience and we both enjoyed our visit. There are exhibits on all three floors and lots of interactive things to do. We visited a special exhibit of portraits first and then went through the rest of the library. The gifts from visiting dignitaries areas are always fun and fascinating. The library covers all aspects of Bill Clinton's life and does a good job of it. Having visited several other presidential libraries, I did find the layout (it was built to be like a bridge to the future) a little confining. But overall it is really great place filled with so much history. There is a restaurant located in the bottom floor of the building, but it was closed the day we visited so we went to lunch nearby. I was told it is best to make a reservation if you want to eat in the restaurant. You can leave and return the same day as long as you keep your ticket.
Lucille T — Google review
Well organized displays. Very helpful, friendly, and well informed staff. Loved seeing personal correspondence and photos and other memorabilia. Stunning replica of Oval Office. Cabinet room too. Very reasonable price for admission but a little pricey and regrettable up charge for a photo in the Oval.
Fr. N — Google review
The library is a powerful memory of the Clinton presidency from 1993 until early 2001. The history lessons transcend political views, making it an interesting visit for anyone. The grounds also offer wonderful scenery and have great walking and running trails.
Michael N — Google review
I walked in expecting a library, shelves of documents, maybe a display case or two. What I found was something else entirely. This isn’t just a collection of papers, it’s a time capsule—an immersive experience into President Clinton’s legacy, decisions, and the era he helped define. My family and I stood there, stunned at what we didn’t know. The exhibits pull you in, not just with facts, but with context and feeling. We sat at the President’s staff table, snapped photos in the replica Oval Office, and found ourselves taking a genuine interest in his life and presidency—something I didn’t expect to happen as deeply as it did. This visit changed our summer plans. Since then, we’ve explored two more presidential libraries, and we’re already mapping out a trail for next year. There is an entry fee, but it’s more than worth it. This place opened a door for us we didn’t know we wanted to walk through.
Michael M — Google review
I thought there would be more to it, but apparently some galleries are being switched out right now. Still plenty of interesting info and we especially enjoyed the Oval Office replica. All the staff were very helpful and welcoming. A must-see if you’re in Little Rock!

Little Rock, Arkansas offers a plethora of outdoor parks and trails for visitors to explore. Among these attractions is the Big Dam Bridge, which spans the Arkansas River atop Murray Dam and holds the title of being the longest pedestrian and bike bridge in the United States at 4,226 feet. The city's Arkansas River Trail provides a 17-mile loop from downtown Little Rock to west Little Rock, passing through key landmarks and offering breathtaking scenery and wildlife along the way.
Gorgeous location, the views are amazing and the trails are fun to walk in, the photos don’t do it justice. I just wish the North Little Rock side had more updated commodities; other than that it’s a must visit for both tourists and locals.
Francisco L — Google review
The Big Dam Bridge in Little Rock, Arkansas, is a must-visit spot for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers. Spanning over the Arkansas River, it offers stunning panoramic views of the river, surrounding landscapes, and wildlife. As the longest pedestrian and cycling bridge in the United States, it’s perfect for walking, jogging, or biking, providing a peaceful and scenic escape from the city. The bridge is well-maintained, with plenty of space for everyone to enjoy, and offers several vantage points for photo opportunities. The sunset views from the bridge are particularly breathtaking. Whether you’re looking for a leisurely stroll or an active outdoor experience, the Big Dam Bridge is a fantastic destination. It's also a great spot for families, couples, or solo adventurers looking to take in the natural beauty of the area. The only downside is that it can get quite windy at times, but overall, it's an iconic spot in Little Rock that shouldn’t be missed.
Abdul K — Google review
This area is great! Trails to walk/run/bike, fishing is really popular here as well. Beautiful views from the elevated bridge overlooking the Arkansas River. If I lived near here, I’d frequent Big Dam Bridge a lot!
SeaTown R — Google review
This is my go to walk when in Little Rock. Was sad to see so much broken glass in the parking lot. Clear there have been some cars broken into recently. But it is a nice walk up and over the bridge.
Mark N — Google review
It wasn't as steep as I thought it would be, a much easier walk than you imagine as it is such a long low slope. We are moderately fit people that will do our best to pretend our lungs don't burn after a short incline, but we didnt even need to stop and catch our breath on this, it was a comfortable walk, we saw several people pushing strollers and wheelchairs that did not seem to be struggling at all. Go to the bathroom before you start, its still a pretty long walk.
Kiwi E — Google review
It's a good area for walking the Big Damn Bridge. You might even catch a beautiful sky while there for pictures. A glimpse of a Snagger catching those big fish. For that matter catch you some fish brim, catfish & crappie are among my favorites. But, some love those big Buffalo. I only gave 4 stars bc it can be a dangerous area & the facilities aren't the best.
Mae P — Google review
I enjoyed the walk, very beautiful, although, the railing was so tall it was hard for me to video the walk. But I understand the need for the railing. It's a very tall bridge that's over a very rapidly flowing Arkansas River. Should someone fall from that height it would be fatal. There are lots of readings along the bridge that tells about the river, the Dam, and the natural birds to that area. I was lucky, or blessed by God, it was supposed to be closed the day I went, for maintenance, however, the crane wasn't able to get there that day so it stayed open. If you watch my video, I read each plaque as I went through along with the information regarding the history of the River and Park. I thought it was interesting, that the local Doctors helped to pay for it, in an effort to keep the population healthy. It must be working. The whole time I've visited this area, I've only seen two other people who were obese. I believe just going over the bridge was worth the money to come here. I've seen so much more though. This was truly, an awesome get away for me.

Little Rock Zoo, located in War Memorial Park, is a 33-acre zoo that has been supporting conservation projects since 1926. It houses over 700 animals and offers various attractions such as a train, antique carousel, and playground. The zoo provides an immersive experience for visitors to appreciate wildlife conservation through themed habitats and educational programs. From playful primates to majestic big cats, the diverse array of exotic animals captivates families and fosters a love for wildlife.
Enjoyable morning spent at the zoo! We stayed about 2.5hrs which was perfect for our littles. There was some construction and the cafe was closed for upgrades, but that was fine! We went “off season” and it didn’t interfere with our enjoyment. We went soon after they opened and many animals were active. We heard the lions! The penguins were so fun and the zookeeper for the exhibit was engaging and answered our questions. Great small zoo with impressive variety of animals for its size.
Haley H — Google review
It's a fairly decent zoo, but relatively small, in my opinion, though seeing as how I have only ever been to the Memphis Zoo and the St. Louis Zoo, I can I ly compare it to those two. I had fun, however, and the animals, for the most part (the elephant with stars tattooed on their hind has a story that should be told) seem happy and well-treated. That makes them better than most, from what I've read about in many zoos.
Woodrow C — Google review
So impressed on how well kept up this zoo is for being 100 years old. A major remodel was going on a long with men working hard to get holiday decorations up. Lots of animals and a good walk. The highlight of my visit was the chimpanzee mother with her child on her back walking around their entire home. I got here around 12:30 and stayed till closing. You can always tell when they're close to closing all the animals start to go in to be fed. I almost forgot they have a wooden carousel that was over 100 years old that worked smoothly and all the kids loved it.
Roger H — Google review
The six of us that went had an amazing time. Even with construction going on and setting up of a christmas event nothing got in the way of the zoo itself! Pretty decent animal selection to view and the staff where super friendly and helpful. Will certainly be back again.
Sean G — Google review
I actually love the zoo. The kids have a lot of fun. The layout is nice and beautiful. I love the landscaping they have around the exhibits. They have a nice selection of animals and they try hard to keep them happy. A leopard lost its buddy/mate and was going a little crazy and they had him a friend fast and he seems so happy now. The orangutan that had the baby, also has an older daughter and she kissed the glass where I was so I gave her kisses back and she did that a few times and blew us kisses too. A gorilla had cut his tummy and they were quick to get him help as well. They put their welfare above what the people want and I love that. They also try to have different little “events” going on. My youngest didn’t want to leave the bubbles they had one day haha. I can’t wait for Boo At The Zoo!!
Angela C — Google review
Wow!!!! Love this zoo and will be coming back as much as we can! We drive through the area often and wanted something fun to do with 3 children. We were all in love with this zoo!!!!! You can see all of the animals up close. We have been to so many zoos! This is by far one of our favorites! The play areas are great!!! When we showed up they had a predator vs pray learning experience set up for children to interact it was great! Our favorite animals are the bush dogs (they have babies) the penguins (they swam at the glass and basically put on a show for us while we watched for over 30 minutes) and last but not least the orangutans (the mom and baby are so so cute to watch, we could have watched them all day the mom carries around the babies blanket and they are the sweetest pair) we also love the very unique carousel! we already cant wait to go back! Do not skip out on this amazing zoo!!!!! You will love it ❤️
Amber H — Google review
Amazing Zoo. Such a wide variety of animals, all exhibits are well kept and the animals looks happy. Friendly staff and very clean pathways and bathrooms. The animals are clearly taken care of as well, which is the most important part.
D L — Google review
We went yesterday with our grandsons and it was great! They're doing construction and that was a smidge inconvenient but it really didn't affect our visit badly. The animals are so visible and seem to be taken very care of. The sloth bear holds a special place in my heart because he came running out to greet us.

Pinnacle Mountain State Park, located just west of Little Rock, is a vast 2,356-acre day-use park offering a variety of outdoor activities. Visitors can explore scenic hiking trails with stunning mountain views and enjoy canoeing in the area. The park features an arboretum and a visitor center for those interested in learning more about the natural surroundings. The landscape includes sandstone ridges and exposed bare rock with flora resembling that of Southwest Texas, making it a unique destination for nature enthusiasts.
West side, three quarters of a mile climbed up in about forty five minutes resting from time to time. Rocky but fun trails with amazing views! Secure to hike solo, plenty of hikers yet you get your space and peace, everyone is respectful. The main entrance to the park has moved to the new visitor center so you will have to use the new road to access the west summit picnic area.

Pinnacle Mountain is absolutely breathtaking! We took the west Summit Trail to the top and oh my gosh, even though it is a very challenging climb getting to the top it was well worth it. You have to do it at least once.! The last two or three mile markers is when you start climbing the boulders, but it’s very good exercise! My recommendation is to wear good hiking shoes with good traction and take plenty of water because you will stop and rest a lot along the way but well worth it!

Get away to the scenic wonders! In 2023, my husband and I visited this beautiful state park and hiked the base trail. We chose to return because we didn't have enough time to hike to the summit of Pinnacle Mountain. On March 24, 2025, we hiked to the West Summit Trail. This is a 1.4-mile round trip and an out and back trail type with 734 ft elevation gain. We completed the hike in 2 hours. The trail is well-maintained and clearly marked. There are a few seats along the trail where you may rest or enjoy the scenery. The hike offers breathtaking views of the surroundings and is enjoyable while being rather difficult. This trail requires some bouldering and scrambling due to its steep climb and rocky terrain, especially after point-7, where the path becomes entirely bouldery. We stayed on the summit for about thirty minutes, taking in the expansive views of the Arkansas River Valley, Lake Maumelle, and the surrounding area.

Very cool view from the top. Nice place for photos. Trail was relatively easy(if you’re in shape) and just felt like a stair-master at some points.

A great spot with multiple different trails! We were excited to find out it was free. It was a nice mixture of different trail difficulty levels. Staff was super helpful to point us in the right direction and explain some of the trails.

I brought my 4-year-old and my 2-year-old all the way to the top. Great day good exercise way better than watching them sit in front of youtube all day.

Vigorous hike, 795 ft up, full of boulders, great workout, pack a picnic because the top is the most amazing view! Leave your dog at home. Too hot and too dangerous if the dog pulls while scrambling up or down the large boulders. Really, too hot for them. I saw a man with a small dog at the top last weekend and that dog was hyperventilating and dehydrated. So sad.

The Museum of Discovery in Little Rock is a family-friendly destination offering interactive exhibits that explore scientific concepts. Established in 1927 and revamped in 2012, it has been a go-to place for learning about the sciences. The museum features permanent exhibits such as 'Earth Journeys,' delving into Arkansas' weather patterns and native fauna; 'Amazing You,' explaining how bodies function; and 'Tinkering Studio,' allowing patrons to build and play with various materials.
They have discounted tickets for SNAP recipients. We made a quick stop and were there for an hour and a half and didn’t get to all of the exhibits. My 3 littles loved the fishing area, it’s an area for under 6 and the STEM room. My older son, 16, enjoyed the exhibits and all of the hands on science stuff. Definitely recommend stopping by and taking more time to be there.

Took my son here- he loved it and couldn’t get enough. It was a quicker visit than we would have liked, as it was a spur of the moment drop in, but my little family still had a blast. We almost couldn’t pull him away from the area that had the nets and climbing tunnels. We got to see some cute animals, ran into a couple of people we knew (small world), and learned a lot! The gift shop had tons of goodies in it. We will definitely be back, so we can spend a good amount of time and do some hands on experiments.

Visited the museum with my two kids 7 and 4 on a Friday afternoon. The Museum is modern, clean, spacious and the exhibits are fun, interactive and engaging. There were not too many visitors and so my kids got to enjoy every area completely with very little wait time or no wait time at all. There are 2 levels and we found that 2-3 hours is enough time to see everything but you could easily spend more time. There is a playground area and a play room with little kids space. There is a dining hall but no food available for purchase so I’d make sure to bring your own food if spending a few hours here. There were a couple of exhibits that were out of order but I find that to be average compared to other museums we visit. Overall this was a great experience and I found worth the ticket price and I would return again as would my kids who had a great time and learned a few new things as well.
Joy M — Google review
Oh my god the Tesla Coil!! I think I enjoyed that more than my kids. The museum was amazing and I really wish we could have spent more time there. It’s a great place for kids of all ages to learn, play, and burn off a little energy.

This place was awesome, hands-on and completely interactive for kids and adults. So much for the kids to discover and special presentations happened all day long. Definitely going back.

It was a fun place but honestly not what we expected it to be. We've been to the kids museum in NWA and this was sooo different. I dont think we'll be back.
Sarah S — Google review
The museum is packed with hands-on exhibits that make science feel exciting and accessible, no matter your age. I spent way too long at the musical Tesla coil—it’s absolutely mesmerizing—and the interactive physics displays had me feeling like a kid again. What really stood out was how welcoming and enthusiastic the staff were; they clearly love what they do and it shows. It’s the kind of place where you lose track of time because you’re genuinely engaged and learning without even realizing it. Whether you’re traveling solo like I was or with kids, this place is a gem. I left with a huge smile and a renewed sense of curiosity.

Visiting Little Rock for the weekend and actually stopped in at my daughter’s insistence. 7 hours later (literally) we had to leave because they were closing. And on our way out we were noticing things we didn’t even get to explore! She’s 5 and had the best time. Our 16 month old also enjoyed. We attended every special “show,” including a story time, the Tesla demo, and 2 animal feedings. The educators Felicia and Nichole were so kind. Very informative and took the time to answer all my daughter’s questions. What a great place to stumble upon.

The Historic Arkansas Museum in Little Rock is a local art and history museum that showcases artifacts, 19th-century structures, and historical re-enactments. Visitors can immerse themselves in the city's history and culture by exploring the museum's exhibits and art collections. In addition to the museum, Little Rock offers outdoor parks and trails for scenic walks, bike rides, and nature exploration. The Big Dam Bridge is a must-visit spot for biking enthusiasts, offering stunning river views.
Local Arkansas area history is thankfully preserved at this museum in downtown Little Rock that contains many exhibits of life of yesteryear from the settlers to the natives to the art of the region. The museum covers a city block with outdoor and indoor exhibits. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the exhibits should be interest children without having to resort to high-tech multimedia techniques. A trolley goes right in front of the museum. This museum is part of a cluster of historical buildings in downtown Little Rock and the Old State House is a short walk as is the park alongside the Arkansas River. Try to donate if you can as the museum is free and should be preserved for future visitors.

We were walking from our Air BnB to town today when we discovered this museum. Several people were there in period costumes. It ws fun talking to them and looking around. Our friend even tried her hand at walking on stilts.

We had a great experience there today! This is an excellent place to visit if you love history and learning new things. Our tour guide James was very knowledgeable. He answered all of our random questions. We are looking forward to coming back when more exhibits are open. Tours start on the hour, so you can time your visit!

The museum was doing some changes on some their exhibits but, what was fully up and running were very nice. The gift shop had nice things to choose from and the gentleman running it was very knowledgeable about the merchandise and the artists that created them. Our favorite part was the outdoor guided tour. The guide was extremely informed on what he was presenting. And very friendly, he even answered all my 101 questions! 😊 * My husband being a military veteran got in free *

Knife room is awesome and the exhibit on the Native Americans of the region is amazing. Free galleries and a tour that is worth the small cost. For the outside houses.

We went to their indoor exhibits which were free and their historical village which was only $2.50 for adults. On the Saturday we were there it was an event called "living craft Saturday" which had people practicing historical crafts and answering questions which was a ton of fun.

Such an awesome place. You can do your own tour which is free or you can pay for a tour which is pretty cheap but make sure you're there on the hour cuz they do tours every hour on the hour I got there like 5 minutes after 3:00 and missed it so it was okay I just walked around it was nice. And certain days you would have to ask they have people dress up in the old timey clothes and have those old houses open talking about the history. They have an Indian museum a little place for children to play and a few other cool museums in there to look at old things from the 1800s it all has to do with arkansas's history though.

Rock Town Distillery, located on the southern end of Main Street in SoMa, is a must-visit attraction for adults in Little Rock. It was founded by the father of a high-school doubles tennis partner and offers award-winning vodkas and bourbons. The distillery also features a full cocktail bar with creative drinks, tours, and tastings. Visitors can explore nearby shops or indulge in Honduran dishes at El Sur food truck turned brick-and-mortar restaurant.
What a fun experience! My wife and I love visiting local breweries and distilleries when in new places. With our first trip to Little Rock we found and visited Rock Town Distillery. Emily was our guide and she did a great job of explaining everything about the facility and the processes. She answered our questions and provided a great tasting experience. If you’re in Little Rock and like local spirits, check this place out. High quality products and very friendly people.

GREAT experience here! Jade was absolutely awesome, as well as the rest of the staff. We went on an early Thursday afternoon and pretty much had the place to ourselves. I only went for the cocktail bar, as the standard tours aren't done on Sundays and I'm only in town one day. The single barrel sour mash was really good, as was the price ($14) for an old fashioned, BUT..... No square ice cubes?!?!? What distillery uses standard ice in an old fashioned? Also the bartenders didn't even say hello to me for the first 5+ mins after I sat down with only 4 people at the bar. And they were both young and seemed to not care about their guests. Other than that, not shabby I guess?

ESSE Purse Museum & Store, located in the South Main Street District of Little Rock, is a unique homage to the history of handbags. The museum's permanent exhibition takes visitors on a journey through the 20th-century American woman's bags and their contents from 1900 to 1999. This clever decade-by-decade review not only showcases fashion but also sheds light on social changes experienced by American women during this period.
The museum was so interesting! They have so many purses and items kept in purses from 1900-1990. It was cool to see how the styles of bags and items women kept on them changed depending on different historical events. They also had a purse weighing station, which was fun!

This Museum Is So Magical, It Throws Shade at Your Clueless Carry-On! ✨ Listen up, fellow travelers: you think you've seen it all? Think again. The ESSE Purse Museum & Store in Little Rock isn't just a place to look at bags; it’s a full-on masterclass in style, history, and pure, unadulterated female energy. This museum is so magical, I almost expected to see Amelia Earhart’s flight bag! From the tiny, beaded flapper purses of the 1920s to the bold, structured bags of the 1940s, this place tells a whole story. It’s the visual history of women's liberation, one handbag at a time. The vintage Pan Am satchels and the rhinestone-studded fans tell a tale of a woman who wanted more than just a place in the home—she wanted the entire world. This isn't just a museum; it's a history lesson. It’s a sassy, chic reminder that what a woman carries tells you everything about where she’s been and where she’s going. So, go ahead. I dare you to find a more iconic collection. You won't. #ESSEPurseMuseum 👜 #LittleRockAR 💁‍♀️ #ArkansasHistory #ARkansas #MuseumLife 🏛️ #PursePower 💅 #VintageVibes 😎 #TravelStyle ✈️ #WomensHistory 👑 #SassyAndChic #YouCantSitWithUs #SparkleAndShine ✨

The Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts, located in Little Rock's MacArthur Park, is a cultural hub with a rich history dating back to 1914. It houses an impressive collection featuring works by renowned artists such as Picasso, Degas, Rembrandt, Wyeth, and Redon. The museum offers a modern space for art enthusiasts and event hosts alike. Additionally, the city is currently enhancing its arts scene with the construction of this new fine arts and exhibition space.
My experience at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts was absolutely fantastic. One of the best things is that admission is completely free, so you can explore everything without stressing about your budget—perfect for spontaneous visits or bringing friends along. The staff and volunteers were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, always eager to share deeper meanings behind each art piece, which really made the visit more meaningful. While the museum may look small from the outside, don’t be fooled—it’s quite expansive once you’re inside, with plenty to see and appreciate. They also have a well-curated gift shop, great for anyone looking to start or add to a collection. Whether you're an art lover or just looking for a relaxing place to spend an afternoon, this place is a must-visit. Definitely a 5-star spot!

🎨✨ The Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts – where architecture and emotion become one. This museum is absolutely breathtaking. The building itself is a true work of art — so elegant, modern, and full of light. Honestly, I didn’t want to leave. It feels like the kind of place you could live in forever. The atmosphere inside is so peaceful and inspiring. I want to give a special mention to the staff — they look incredibly polished and professional, and the service was impeccable. Every detail made the experience even more pleasant. I found so much joy just being there — especially from an aesthetic point of view. Every corner feels thoughtfully designed, and it truly elevates your spirit. I highly recommend visiting the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts. It’s about feeling alive.

We visited the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts on the evening of July 4th. While we're not exactly fine arts enthusiasts, I was drawn to the museum after seeing photos of its stunning architecture. Admission is free, and you can pick up a map at the information desk. For kids, there’s a fun treasure hunt activity sheet, which turned out to be a great way to keep our son engaged. He and my wife enjoyed completing the activities together, and once they finished, he received a small gift from the museum store. I took the opportunity to explore and capture the beauty of the museum’s exterior - the architecture is truly photo-worthy from every angle. Parking was easily available, and the museum is well laid out across three floors, all accessible by elevator. Inside, you'll also find a fine dining restaurant, a cozy café, and a gift shop. Just outside, the adjacent park offers a peaceful escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. We spent about an hour and a half there - a visit that was both refreshing and enriching.

This is such a great location for food vendors and patrons. It actually rivals many enjoyable out of town establishments that are comparable. The biggest problem (and reason for my rating) is that it is not open past 2 pm. The hours are horrible and prevent many businesses from reaching their greatest earning potential. My family and I would regularly frequent Ottenheimer Hall if it were open later.

Beautiful place to go as a family. Perfect for a walk or bike ride. There is a nice kids area to play (tunnels they can walk through and a big covered slide) and a walking trail with beautiful sculptures and art. There are a lot of beautiful places to take pictures. Highly recommended!

Cool place to visit. Sculptures, walking paths, playground, views of river. Near downtown. Only complaint is no restrooms around. Parking was limited but we found a spot. Junction bridge was neat. I went on a Saturday. Live bands were playing

This is a great outdoor space for Sunday morning walks. The grounds are usually well maintained. The flowing river sounds and visual sculptures make up for the muddy look of the river.

The Arkansas Repertory Theatre, located in downtown Little Rock, is the state's largest nonprofit professional theatre company. Since its founding in 1976, it has produced over 350 productions including 40 world premieres in its historic 377-seat theatre. Led by Executive Artistic Director Will Trice, the theatre offers a diverse array of performances and classics along with workshops for its annual audience of over 70,000.
I have so many amazing memories of my family having season tickets to The Rep when I was growing up, but I haven't been in probably 20 years. My partner and I went to see Into The Woods last night (my hands-down favorite production growing up), and I think I was smiling the whole night. The place is updated and well-designed, the production was first-rate, and everyone was friendly and helpful. I LOVE the smaller venue because you are close to the stage no matter where you sit. I don't have the funds right now to return and see Into The Woods with my oldest daughter (our youngest is 4, otherwise I'd take him, too!) but I wish so much that I could. It would make for an unforgettable night and a new generation of memories. Somewhere down the road, we'll give our kids the gift of going to The Rep. It's a true landmark in Little Rock! I can't recommend it highly enough.

A small intimate quiet hall. All seats should be good for performances and are pretty much ok. A tad on the legacy "snug fit" seating. I got through a 2 hour show fine. I definately plan to attend more shows. Very cool

My girls and I went to see "The Amen Corner" and it was amazing! All of the actors and actresses did such a wonderful job, many we knew and were so proud we got to see their performances! The intimacy of the venue and the atmosphere were also beautfiul! We are now hooked and we cannot wait to return! 100 out 10!

I can’t brag about this theater enough. Sometimes a local theater may bring about a negative connotation for subpar talent…but this is no where near the truth for the rep. They have a great mixture of Arkansas locals mixed with talent from all over the US with a wide range of expertise. The cast and the audience are always diverse. There are no bad seats here. Don’t sleep on this place!! It’s now become an annual challenge to see all the plays/musicals they produce!!

We visited The Old Mill in North Little Rock and the view was very beautiful. The old stone building beside the quiet water looked like something from a movie. Trees and flowers were all around, and the sound of the water was peaceful. It was a perfect place to take photos and enjoy nature. We loved it!

My Fiance took me here for a picnic in the park. I love it!! Beautiful sky and pretty flower's, it was extremely hot this day. They have duck's and they are bold when they see people eating lol. It's relaxing out there, it was very few people out there when we went but I love taking Pictures of everything. Walking trail, waterfalls and place's you can sit at not all spots are in the shade so be prepared 😉. It's free bring family or date

The old mill was an absolutely stunning place, there were a lot of volunteers here keeping the place stunning. This place magical, absolutely breathtaking. It only took a short 30 minutes as we were on a time crunch but it was absolutely scenic. Between the wood bridges, the small house, pond, or waterfall. Great place to stopby and enjoy nature, take a break, or take picnics. Absolutely wonderful and will come again. There is no fee to enter, but I wish there was a donation box. The volunteers here are doing amazing work to keep this place tidy ☺️

I didn't know I was going here until I was just a few miles away. Once I got here I was in total amazement. I've seen pictures of the mill in fact the hotel I'm staying at has it on the wall. Going through the entire area I got great pictures and memories of the beauty of the whole area. The master gardeners do such a great job, here it's middle of October and the flowers are still blooming. Take a half hour out of your day and smell the flowers.

In the middle of North Little Rock’s quiet neighborhoods sits this hidden JEWEL amongst normal homes. We got there in less than five minutes from my daughter’s house. It took me around an hour to walk through this gorgeous place. Don’t get me wrong, this place takes you less than 15 minutes to finish it, but if you’re like me who like to take their time sightseeing, time will pass without you realising that. Admission is free, the only downside is the limited parking spaces since the mill lies between homes, so you need to choose when to visit 😉👍🏻

Established in 1843, it boasts diverse history and honors accomplished residents such as Civil War veterans, Pulitzer Prize winners, slaves, suffragettes, and more.
This cemetery is beautiful and holds a lot of history. I find the vibe very serene. It's interesting to walk around and view the very old gravestones, mosoleums, and statues. It's been very well maintained over all these decades. Though it is sort of somber, I would recommend a visit to Mt. Holly for those interested in the historical significance. As always, proper respect is due when visiting a place where many have come to their final rest.

The center features live wildlife examples and native plant gardens outside, while inside, visitors can explore an exhibit hall, aquariums, a gift shop, and educational programs. It serves as an introduction to the outdoor recreational opportunities provided by the state's natural resources.
Having visited from a “big city” it was hard to believe that this amazing place was FREE! Not only that it is free, but it is educational, well kept, and interesting for people of all ages. My sons love nature, and they had a blast doing the “scavenger hunt”, learning about Arkansas through the lens of nature, and appreciated all the beautiful animals they have on display. The taxidermy is top-class, and the live animals are in great conditions. 100% recommend this place as something to do for anyone in Little Rock.

Took my 10 year old grandson. He had a good time. He painted a fish (a rubber version) & they showed him how to make a print of it on paper. We watched them feed the fish, looked at all the wildlife native to Arkansas & then he got lessons on shooting a BBQ gun and actually got to shoot one. The staff is great! Very helpful & friendly. This was a free event. If you have children, this is a great place to take them.

The State Capitol Building in Arkansas is a must-see attraction, featuring two buildings: the Old Statehouse, now a museum, and the newer Arkansas State Capitol Building. The latter bears a striking resemblance to the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. Visitors can explore both buildings with guided tours or self-guided walks for free. The Old Statehouse Museum showcases Arkansas's history from statehood through its secession during the Civil War era.
We had a great time taking the tour. This place was packed with am event going on but the tour guide did her best to keep us together and speak loud so we all could hear. The best part of the tour was going into the vault and holding $600,000 in CASH. We didn't get the visit the floor of the senate or house cause they were getting ready for upcoming meetings. We did get to see it from the gallery and the place was beautiful. If your in the area go enjoy the free tour.

We just happened to be in Little Rock on the same weekend as the Capital Lighting and Fireworks. What a fun and exciting Tradition! We stopped at a local restaurant (The Blisspoint Family Grill) and got food to take to the outdoor lighting. On the back side of the Capital very near our parking spot were dozens of picnic tables. We sat and enjoyed our dinner and watched the amazing fireworks show! And when the Grand Finale came and all the building's lights came on we cheered out loud and yelled "Merry Christmas" along with many other visitors. What impressed us most was how incredibly festive the interior was and that we were able to roam freely throughout the whole building taking in all the wonderful sights and decorations. We especially enjoyed the "window displays" full of stories and histories of many beloved Christmas traditions. Everyone was so friendly and festive. WELL DONE, ARKANSAS; YOU IMPRESSED US!

There's an underground parking garage right next door that's $10-15 to park. Before the show, we received an email with a map showing 4 other parking areas that are close and public. There are three tiers of seats and boxes on either side of the concert hall, each box has about 4 chairs in them. Each level has bathrooms on that level so you don't have to go downstairs to use the bathroom if youre in an upper tier. There was a lot of stairs, but an elevator inside the building to reach each tier. There was a concession stand with wine, beer, and soda available before the show, no food. The chairs are normal fold-down chairs, similar to a movie theater. The ushers were very helpful and willing to show you to your seat. The show we saw was an orchestral accompaniment of Star Wars, and it was fantastic. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.

I was thoroughly impressed by Robinson Center. I've been to concerts and shows in Dallas, Nashville, New Orleans, Minneapolis and Saint Paul. But only in Little Rock did I encounter a completely organized event. From traffic to getting into the center and finding your seats. They had staff and signs everywhere. It's usually a free for all and organized chaos at events in a major downtown area, but not in Little Rock! I'll definitely go there again for any shows that interest me.
Mark D — Google review
The staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The theater itself is absolutely gorgeous. This venue can accommodate a small roster comprised of Arkansas symphony orchestra chamber music all the way up to a full ASO orchestra.! I've seen both large and small scale concerts, bands, solo artists, and theater productions. The Robinson center is truly a state-of-the-art theater that can accommodate any and every show you could imagine. It's truly a joy watching the arts in this beautiful venue.

Concessions are quick and not too expensive (still theater prices so know that--tonight 2 Pepsi and a bottled water was $12). The Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum in North Little Rock offers a unique experience showcasing naval history and Arkansas aquaculture. The museum features tours of the USS Razorback, a WWII-era submarine, and the historic tugboat USS Hoga. These vessels hold significant historical value, with the Razorback being one of the longest-serving combat front-line submarines in the world. The Hoga received special recognition for its rescue efforts during the Pearl Harbor attack and later served as a fire-fighting boat in California.
I have visited this place twice and I do have a great time touring the submarine. The Tour guides are so nice and well experienced. You will enter the submarine and have a good experience of what this beast is. It’s said to be partially working so be careful not to touch any buttons 🤠 There is discount if you are veteran or active service or have family members that is either of both. Tour ticket cost $13

What a great little museum and tour. A lot of history in one place. Very good price for about 45 minutes tour. Our tour guide was Michael- very knowledgeable for a young man. The place was very clean and a great spot to take in some naval history. Make sure to watch the tour times... they go on tours every 30ish minutes and it's first come first served kind of deal. They only take about 10 on every tour.

I was so surprised to find a submarine that you could go through with a tour guide. I think I was even more amazed finding out it held 107 men working and sleeping in it working in temperatures around 100 degrees and not able to shower for around 2 weeks and when they did it was 30 seconds long. After you go through the tour you wonder how they could live in such a tight space without going crazy.

The Mosaic Templars Cultural Center in Arkansas is a museum that showcases the rich history, culture, and community of African Americans in the state. It is located on the original site of the Mosaic Templars of America National Headquarters and Annex buildings, which provided essential services to Black people during a time when few resources were available to them. The museum's exhibits highlight Little Rock's historic West Ninth Street as a thriving center for Black entrepreneurship and social life.
A must see historic location that also delivers African American history. Being from the South I'm familiar with the overall history, however, this cultural center brings to light the local history in engaging ways.

Excellent museum of African American history with a focus on Little Rock and the state of Arkansas. Interactive and mutimedia exhibits, historical artifacts, and seasonal displays tell the stories. I especially enjoyed newspaper and participant memorbilia from the 1963 March on Washington, and a video describing how federal housing, urban renewal, and highway funds were applied to reinforce racial segregation and upend a thriving Black business district. There are chilling displays about local lynchings and the Elaine Massacre of 1919. More hopeful displays detail the continuous Black contributions to literature, music, sports, agriculture, science, and education. Highly recommended.

My experience here was amazing, everything was neat and very eye opening for a white individual myself seeing the oppression of African Americans through the museum and listening to stories and Audio. Museum had a bit of everything and up to date on technology aswell. I honestly recommend it to anyone!! Especially if you don’t know much about black history in Arkansas this is a great place to know more about Black History and oppression. I think it was amazing to see history that isn’t told in history books in a place that’s free to the public. When I went they had an Emmett Till exhibit with original audio from trials and witnesses to the incident. Emmett Till exhibit is a tear jerker. Security lady was very nice. The lady at the front desk gave me an introduction of the place to help me get started and told me how to navigate through the whole museum. PLEASE GO!! #whitesilencekills

Outstanding introduction into the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, by Carolin. She was poised, articulate, and ready to do her job. I really liked the educational spirit about her. We had such a good time moving through the center, learning about notable figures within and from Arkansas. I didn’t realize there was so much history here in this state. We don’t really think about Arkansas because we are not from here and because the state is not known for major attractions. I even went all the way up to the 3rd floor. The Daisy Bates House National Historic Place, located at 1207 West 28th Street in Little Rock, Arkansas, stands as a powerful symbol of the civil rights movement. This historic residence was home to Daisy Bates, a prominent activist and NAACP president. During the pivotal desegregation crisis of 1957-58 at Little Rock Central High School, it served as a vital headquarters for the Little Rock Nine—the first African American students to attend the school.
This is a national treasure as somebody else mentioned. The one thing about the property is you may tour the grounds but not inside the house. This should not require buying tickets in advance. I did have a chance to visit with Misses Bates in school though years ago.

I enjoyed seeing Mrs. Daisy Bates' house. It is a national treasure, and I will definitely go again to take others to see it!
Latanya T — Google review
My aunt lives two doors down. We used to play in her lot on the side. Nice museum frozen in time.
William H — Google review
I am grateful I had a chance to sit down and talk to Mrs Daisy Bates
Deborah B — Google review
Drive by if you are able, but it's currently difficult to gain access inside the house.
Becky P — Google review
I think more advertisement is needed. There is a wealth of information there.
Diedra L — Google review
I grew up across the street from her house!

Historical landmark
"Testament" is a moving and beautiful monument located on the grounds of the Arkansas State Capitol. It honors the bravery of the nine Black students who desegregated Little Rock Central High School in 1957. The memorial features bronze sculptures of the students and plaques with their quotes, facing the governor's office as a reminder to always prioritize moral justice over political expediency.
Very moving, beautiful group of statues of the Little Rock Nine. These statues stand facing the office of the Arkansas governor as a reminder to the officeholder both of the events of 1957-58 and of the courage and character displayed by these young adults.

The Arkansas River Trail is a 17-mile scenic route along the Arkansas River, perfect for hiking, biking, and leisurely strolls. The trail offers picturesque viewpoints, picnic areas, and interpretive signage for relaxation and exploration. It passes through urban parks like Bernice Garden and Murray Park, providing verdant oases amidst the city's hustle and bustle.
Fun trail, lots to see
Anthony D — Google review
The trail could be better marked. North side of the river trail is quite nice most of the way. The south side of the trail has you sharing the road on busy streets.
Mark H — Google review
Nice hiking trail about an hour doing the loop but can walk as long as you want if you follow the bike path
