Tram stop
Union Station, a historic transportation hub built in 1914, once served thousands of passengers and featured a waiting room capable of holding up to 10,000 people. After closing in the 1980s, it underwent extensive renovations and reopened in 1999 with various amenities such as shops and restaurants. Visitors can explore the train museum on the second floor or first floor near the main entrance.
Expertly restored century building, housing an Amtrak train station, Science City, movie theater (including IMAX), planetarium, live theater space, rotating exhibitions, several restaurants, coffee shop, store, and more. Reopened in 1999 after extensive period restoration efforts, this building is a tribute to Kansas City and is always up-lit with the colors of the moment.
Ann D — Google review
Amazing free public transport in Kansas City. It is clean, spacious, free to ride, and comfortable. The streetcar only has one line of 2 miles from the Union Station to the City Market. They are now constructing and expanding the line further for more reach.
Muhammad A — Google review
Today, we were excited to see Holiday Refelctions. We got to Union Station with my 9 year old son, and my 6 year old Autistic son. This was a big outing for him and he started to get upset at 11:30am, and I asked if we could be let in early because I knew he wouldn't last much longer. They said we would have to wait until 11:45am and we said cool, and we waited while my son escalated. So at 11:45am exactly, we went back to the same guy at the ticket counter, who said we would have to wait. I told him my son was Autistic and not doing well and if we could just get in a bit earlier, but he declined. While it isn't the establishment's job or responsibility to cater to me or my family, it was discouraging that we couldn't get in earlier, as he had promised the first time I asked. There was no compassion for my visibly disabled son. No trying to accommodate or maybe asking if we could get in a bit earlier. So if you have an autistic or disabled individual, definitely do not expect any accommodating. Also, do not take them at their word. They will only let you in at the designated time. Even if they say they will.
Kerin M — Google review
This place is very beautiful and clean, sadly Monday a lot of museum inside the union station wasn’t open, they have train museum on the second floor if you park on the side of the building or first floor on the main entrance, we spent almost 2 hours inside of building to look around everything, also they have a restaurant in the middle of the building too.
Dino P — Google review
Another great family destination in KC area. Wonderful theater and Science City are great year round attractions. Once Christmas season arrives, Union Station comes alive even more so with the model train exhibition and wonderful indoor Christmas tree and lighting.
Wade W — Google review
Beautifully restored historic building with great fine dining, coffee and people watching. Part landmark, part working offices, the 105 year old building is alive and vibrant. Talk to the guest hosts at the kiosk, there’s so much to see that’s not immediately obvious as you walk through. The food at Pierpont is fabulous and the atmosphere unmatched. Harvey’s may not have the same level of food quality but it’s still very good and an amazing experience. Areas can be used for meetings, weddings etc. and would make a memorable backdrop.
Bass G — Google review
Such a wonderful window into history. Take your time to walk around and explore. Be sure to visit the model train exhibit and take a walk on the bridge overlooking the tracks.

I loved this historic building! Be sure to travel to the upper stories to the observation deck and read all about the history and remodel.

The Thomas Hart Benton Home and Studio State Historic Site, established in 1977, is a late-Victorian house that served as the residence and art studio of renowned artist Thomas Hart Benton from 1939 until his passing in 1975. The site contains 13 original paintings and personal belongings of the artist. It offers visitors a captivating glimpse into the life and mind of this significant contributor to 20th-century art.
The outside of the house was nice. The art studio where Thomas Hart painted his artwork was even more special. The inside felt like an actual lived-in historic home even including an early-1970s TV set, paintings, and cozy spaces to complete. Although there is a small $5 admission fee per person, it was worth it.

Pleasant surprise and unscheduled stop. Very interesting artist works, studio and home. Great tour guide and pretty properties all around. A worthwhile place to visit in KC.

Joe with the Missouri parks was awesome!! Made the tour fun and educational. We loved the house and all the history. Our kids had a fun time. We were not rushed and just a really good tour thanks to him. Keep it up. Loved the gift shop also.

Didn't know anything about this fellow before walking into this museum—this dude was COOL. When you go in, especially if you know little, recognize that he was a little more *metal* than you think. AMAZING docents that knew exactly how to tell the story of this dude's life and career.
Chris W — Google review
This is a guided tour. The guide's knowledge was excellent. He knew the history but also had stories about Thomas Hart Benton and his family.
Jerree H — Google review
Extraordinary way to spend an hour! Joe, the witty, wise & warm tour guide, took a group through Benton's beautiful home & art studio - a really intimate & enlightening way to appreciate the artist, his work & his family. Highest recommendation for a great museum experience.
Ellen F — Google review
A great artist and a cool historical house. There is a small bathroom. They have over twenty Benton original paintings.
Dr. B — Google review
This is easily the best house museum I've ever visited. Katie, our tour guide, was expert-level knowledgeable about Benton, his family, and the home and was wonderfully engaging by asking us questions and starting conversations. I had no idea that this place is the smallest national park in the US at a 1/3 of an acre! Very intimate experience and I felt like I came away with so much knowledge and insight. I hope to visit again soon and go on the Roanoke Walking Tour Katie put together.

The National WWI Museum and Memorial is the only public museum in the nation dedicated to World War I. As you enter, a glass-floored bridge over a field of 9,000 red poppies sets a reverent tone, each poppy representing 1,000 military deaths. The museum houses an extensive collection of over 100,000 objects, documents, and materials from World War I.
This place was amazing! Educational and interesting we need more museums like this. Did an amazing job explaining the details that aren't taught in school with a lot of artifacts and historical records. I recommend everybody visit this place piece of History. They do an Immaculate job a cleaning volunteering and helping even the food was really good at the cafe.

Besides the marvellous architecture and beautiful scenic view you get at this monument, to me this place is filled with emotions. The place reminds me of all the beautiful souls whose courage and sacrifice helped bring peace and stability that we are enjoying today. Each picture or artefact in this museum is filled with so much history, story, and emotion that I cannot describe; you have to visit this place to experience it. Also, don't forget to cherish the beautiful Poppy flower bed at the main entrance block and try to find out what it represents. In short, this place is where you can enjoy these magnificent monuments, get one of the best views of Kansas City, take beautiful pictures, learn and experience history, and pay respect to the brave and beautiful souls.
Bipashwi U — Google review
Impressive collection of artifacts from WW1 and massive amounts of information! The volunteers were very friendly and informative. This museum is very well done. From an artistic standpoint it has a unique design with Egyptian Revival and Art Deco elements. On a clear day, there are beautiful views from the top of the tower. There is so much to see it is hard to do it in just one day.
Kelly B — Google review
A massive collection of wartime artifacts well presented with informational displays. A number of short films and multimedia displays explaining the broader context of the war and the people who experienced it. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Tower is currently closed, but monument is very impressive from the outside.
William S — Google review
This museum was absolutely amazing! There are so many artifacts amd so much information. The exhibits immersive. We spent 3 hours there at least. Going up in the tower was amazing as well. It was only $3 more.
E W — Google review
The National WWI Museum and Memorial is an incredible experience powerful, educational, and beautifully designed. The exhibits are immersive and tell the story of the Great War through real artifacts, videos, and personal stories. The Liberty Memorial tower offers stunning views of Kansas City, and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Plan at least 2 hours to really take it all in. A must-visit spot in KC!
Aman K — Google review
If you are into military or World War I history, this place is for you. It had artifacts from World War I from European countries and the United States. There are several movies throughout the museum that shed light on the history of World War I. Be sure to check out the basement level with a collection of artifacts from around the world, including the United States. I found this area to be the best. Some of the mannequins and scenes looked a bit dated, but overall the museum was a great experience. The tower is $6 and worth a trip to see downtown Kansas City. I left with a deeper appreciation and understanding of the events from the 1900 during World War I.
Michael F — Google review
This place was amazing, I enjoying visiting museums when on vacations and this place was beautiful. Lots of attention to detail, knowledgeable staff, and amazing displays. I would recommend visiting when in the area and definitely do the tower. The views were great.

The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is a must-visit for art enthusiasts, housing an extensive collection spanning 5,000 years. The museum features neoclassical and modern galleries, as well as a sculpture garden. Visitors of all ages can appreciate the giant badminton birdie installations on the expansive lawn.
This Museum is superb. It is a very welcoming facility, with excellent staff. It displays a wide variety of paintings and sculpture, from all period and all cultures. There is way too much to see in one day, so plan to space out your visits and focus on particular rooms. The grounds are spacious, and offer beautiful areas for picnics. Be sure to eat a meal there in its inviting setting.

Very elegant. Very well put together. Free admission. 14 dollar parking. After 30 minutes. Really a beautiful place to spend an afternoon with someone you love who loves art. It was worth the visit. I regret nothing. Thank you Kansas City for a wonderful experience.
Nicholas R — Google review
One of the best museums I've ever been to boasting a wide variety of art and sculptures from around the World! Start off playing nine holes of mini golf which is so much fun! Then go visit the Museum to see all the treasures it has to offer! Then take a break and have a wonderful snack/lunch at the courtyard style Cafe in the Museum. Then back to explore the rest. A great way to spend a few hours if you love Art! Definitely a must visit!
Willie O — Google review
We spent over 3 hours and barely got through 1.5 floors. So much to see. The European impressionist art on level 1 was stunning. Took a quick break in the cafe Rozelle. Charming. The architecture of the museum building was as impressive as the collection. Modern collection impressive as well. We could have easily spent the whole day if schedule allowed. Admission is free. $14 to park.
Cathy B — Google review
Overall good experience. Spend anywhere between 2-3 hours or most of the day if want. There is a lot to see. Entry is free to the public. Just check in at front desk for wristbands when enter. Parking was easy, but do have to pay $14 for parking. I recommend not bringing in any large bags or purses. You will be asked to wear it on your front the whole time if you do. Overall good free activity
Kenzie P — Google review
I absolutely loved our visit here. We got to see Van Gogh paintings which we are huge fans of. It was a great experience and I highly recommend it. It’s free entry you just pay for parking and can donate which you get a wristband. Highly recommend.

The Nelson-Atkins Museum is an absolute dream for wedding portraits—and I’m lucky to shoot here frequently with couples and their wedding parties. The stunning architecture, clean lines, and iconic art installations create a backdrop that’s both timeless and uniquely Kansas City. From the classic columns of the museum’s exterior to the modern sculpture garden and beautiful outdoor spaces, every corner offers a different vibe and incredible photo opportunities. The natural light here is consistently gorgeous, and the architecture itself adds a level of sophistication and drama that elevates every image. Whether it’s elegant black-tie vibes or a playful, candid session, The Nelson is a go-to spot that always delivers stunning, editorial-quality portraits.
Alyssa B — Google review
A beautiful art museum with varieties of art - European, French, South Asian, Japanese and lots more. Lots to walk around inside the museum. There’s well maintained lawn, where you can sit and relax outside. There are also 4 shuttlecock sculptures, which apparently are the largest in the world. They have paid parking as well as street parking. Admission is free, though you need to register online.

Country Club Plaza is a luxurious and premier destination in Kansas City, featuring Moorish-themed buildings that create a Spanish Seville atmosphere. It's a popular spot for wedding and engagement photography, with its beautiful architecture, landscaped grounds, and ornate details. The area is filled with high fashion shops, sweet-smelling flowers, quaint lamp posts, bronze sculptures, and glistening fountains. Visitors can enjoy walking through the outdoor mall while admiring the fountains and mosaics along the way.
I enjoy strolling through the plaza and admiring the architecture. It has such character. There is also an assortment of restaurants and shops. You can eat Italian at The Cheesecake Factory, BBQ at Jack Stacks, or get a healthy meal at Tru Foods. I eat at Tru Foods every time I visit for work. There are several other types of cuisine available, as well. Check out the Made in KC shop for drinks, coffee, jewelry, pottery, KC clothing, and more. A fun game for children could be to count the fountains. At Christmas, the entire plaza is lit up and it’s a treat to watch the lights come on around 4:45pm. You can also take a stroll along the River. It’s just a pleasant spot to visit.
Christy L — Google review
Find just about anything here. At Bo Lings I had a fabulous bubble tea. Candy store had hello kitty items, and the Spanish inspired buildings are just beautiful. Wonderful place to walk around.
Alicia J — Google review
Friends recommended here when I was visiting. I really wasn’t looking for high-end shopping but I enjoyed the statues, architecture and water fountains. (Kansas City is known as the "City of Fountains" and has more fountains than all other cities except Rome. Rome has over 2,000 public fountains, while Kansas City is believed to have more than 200. The city's fountains are a significant part of its culture and identity, with many located in parks, on boulevards,)

Nice place for families! There was an art show this weekend. Food booths not so great! I'm from southwest Kansas. So when you go to a taco booth. You're going to get your money's worth! There was a couple of stages set up for live music. And it was a beautiful evening with the perfect weather.

The Plaza area is true gem! Its rich history and charming architecture make it a fascinating destination for visitors and locals alike. Walking through the area, you can feel the sense of heritage and culture, and the lively atmosphere adds to its appeal. With shops, cafés, and beautiful public spaces, it’s the perfect spot to explore, take photos, and immerse yourself in a vibrant and historical setting. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience a unique and memorable destination.

Sooo much fun at the 93rd Art Fair on the Plaza. Every year I save my coins to purchase an original art from artist around the country. If you haven’t been it’s always in September. LOVE LOVE THIS! Thank you Sunryse Pottery for my beautiful ceramic soap dispensers♥️

This is a great place for a date, as well as for family and friends. The fountains are beautiful, especially during the Christmas holiday, spring, and summer. It is clean and safe for the most part. Always keep your eyes and ears open though. It is also a handicap accessible area, which makes it nice for everyone.

The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts is a beautiful and technologically advanced theater that has hosted many famous Broadway plays and lyric opera performances. If you get the chance to see a live performance at this stunning center, make sure to wear your fanciest clothes and be mesmerized by the beauty of the performers on stage.
This was an absolutely amazing experience and I cannot wait for another opportunity to visit again! The customer service is phenomenal, from the valet parking, to the door greeter, to the person who scanned our tickets, and the person who helped us find our seat. Every staff member was absolutely amazing! The theatre is stunning with bold rich colors and is very well maintained. The bathrooms are clean and they’re located on every floor for convenience. We were able to get in and out with ease with such an amazing layout. Keep up the great work and job well done!

Parking garage adjacent to the center. Beautiful venue. The tiers are well placed to allow view of the stage. Very clean and elegant. Multiple bars open for cocktails/beverages and light fare before show and during intermission. I wish my boyfriend Matt Dz*****z was here, maybe a precursor to our Kennedy center gala experience someday. Staff available everywhere to assist in giving information, hand out programs and help you find your seat. Everyone was extremely friendly and professional.
Mary-Ann L — Google review
An architectural masterpiece designed to deliver an immersive experience of the arts in each is its two theaters. Acoustically optimized to ensure there isn’t a bad seat in the house. For the movie lovers, highly encourage taking in one of the their movie symphony performances. Where the symphony performs the movie’s soundtrack while the blockbuster plays above them. It’s take the movie watching experience into a whole new level
Bradley S — Google review
The Kauffman Center is truly one of Kansas City’s most iconic architectural gems—and it’s always a highlight in my wedding photography. With its sweeping curves and modern design, it offers a bold, artistic backdrop that’s instantly recognizable and uniquely KC. Whether I’m photographing wedding parties or couples, the building’s striking lines and dramatic shapes elevate every image to something special. The nearby open plazas add even more options for creative portraits. From classic elegance to contemporary flair, the Kauffman Center fits effortlessly into any wedding style while giving photos an unmistakable sense of place.
Alyssa B — Google review
It’s an absolutely gorgeous venue with not one bad seat in the house!!! One thing to remember, no drinks or food are allowed into the auditorium. You have to consume those in the lobby.
Sheradee B — Google review
With a view of Old Kansas City, the lobby of this performing arts center is a beautiful place to sit, drink, or saunter around before the music starts. The auditorium includes a majestic pipe organ. Paid parking is available, or find free street parking along the surrounding blocks on Sundays. (So long as you’re not nervous about leaving your car in a sketchy area of town.)
Gifs F — Google review
We had an exceptional experience at the Kaufman Center, witnessing our community’s children perform on stage during their anniversary celebration. The performance was both inspiring and beautifully executed. We were equally impressed by the presence and leadership of the center’s team, and it was a pleasure to personally congratulate them for organizing such a memorable and impactful event. This experience truly reflects the center’s dedication to the arts and the community.
EagleCore M — Google review
The spectacular architecture by Moishe Safdie is an event in itself. Add to that the brilliance of the Kansas City Symphony, under the direction of Mathias Pintscher, and you have the makings of a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Union Station Kansas City, situated in the Crown Center District, is a beautifully restored and fully operational train station dating back to 1914. It houses the Arvin Gottlieb Planetarium, Science City, and the Regnier Extreme Screen Theatre. As the second-largest working train station in the country, it sees numerous Amtrak trains daily.
Union Station. It is one of the greatest buildings ever built. I've loved this place since I was a kid. One of the greatest building marvels of its time. With a rich history from traveling to the Gangster era it's a must see if your visiting Kansas City Missouri 😇

Our family had a remarkable and unforgettable experience at the Union Station Christmas show. The environment was warm, welcoming, and truly magical. It’s a perfect place for families, friends, and even business gatherings to enjoy the holiday spirit together. Highly recommended!

This place was AMAZING!!! It is worthy of a visit by everyone. The place is generally free - that's why you pay for parking. The first 30 minutes are free. Then you pay $7 for up to 5 hours. It's a but of change after that. The place was big. These are free areas that tells you about trains and you get to walk the large hall. At the front of the place is 3 floors that is about the building and how it was build and restored. That part is free. There's 4 restaurants in there, 2 areas you have to pay for the kids (an outdoor play area, and kids science museum), a movie theater, and a free planetarium. There's also a small interacted science museum that has optical illusions. It was $18 per person. And, of course, a gift shop. There's also an Amtrak that runs to St. Louis. So yes, there's a REAL train there too. And a post office. The architecture is Wonderful-Amazing-Superb!!! The restoration is explained on the 3rd floor of the museum. Very interesting. There's also a part about a WW1 monument that's outside. It's free too. Overall, it's a place for the entire family, couples and older ones. No pets allowed, but they wouldn't get much out of it anyway. A must see!! So, why travel outside of the United States? *wisper* no passport.

We had a nice afternoon at Union Station. It had been about 20 years since our last visit and we happened to be there during KC Fringe. We went and visited the museum parts upstairs to learn about the history of the station. We wandered around and saw the Guinness World Record exhibit and we went to Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory where we took advantage of their buy 5 get 1 free for their truffles.

Fantastic historic train station in my favorite style (neo-classical). Beautiful building with a nice history display right by the Link walkway. Various things to do in the station, and tons of other activities easily accessible nearby. I also enjoyed the Freight Bridge that connects the station to the restaurants and area North of the station. Perfect place to look down on trains coming and going.

I enjoyed spending the morning here, shopping, browsing the museums and simply walking around. The museums included one for the Kansas City Chiefs football team and model trains. So much to do in one space. I even bought a postcard and mailed it from the Post Office on site.

Such a cool station. Had a wonderful time exploring and ate lunch here. The architecture is absolutely stunning, if you have time you should stop by and check this out!

I visited the third largest train station in the country. Union station has over 100 plus years of History as well as permanent & temporary exhibits, a planetarium & a science center. Restaurants and gift shops and so much more! It is also The site of the Kansas City massacre which took place June 17th, 1933 and involved the notorious Pretty Boy Floyd. Union Station is free to go inside but some of the exhibits have a charge to enter. Beautiful station. Lots to do great food. Definitely must visit while in Kansas City!

The Arabia Steamboat Museum in Kansas City is a popular attraction that offers a fascinating journey back to the mid-nineteenth century American frontier. It houses the largest collection of pre-Civil War artifacts in the world, all recovered from a steamboat that sank in the Missouri River in 1856. Visitors can explore exhibits and presentations showcasing everyday items, clothing, and tools from pioneer life.
My wife and i stumbled upon this museum on our travels through KC. All we can say is “WOW!” What an incredible place. Its a giant time capsule from there 1850s. It was so educational to see these artifacts is pristine condition. We also got to meet one of the treasure-hunters that discovered the sunken steam ship. A must see if you’re in this area.
Spencer S — Google review
So I had heard the amazing story of how this was found a few years ago. The determination of the guys was awesome. Glad they decided to keep it all in one place and share it with the world. Amazing to see all that was recovered and the pieces that remained. Really worth the stop if you can make your way to this museum.

Find yourself in Kansas City? The Arabia Steamboat Museum in the River Market is an absolute must-visit — a true hidden gem that left me completely awestruck. From the moment you walk in, you sense that this place is special. The curators have masterfully woven storytelling and preservation into a captivating experience. You begin with short, powerful videos about the steamboat’s tragic sinking in 1856 and its miraculous rediscovery in the 1980s. Then you’re led through exhibit rooms filled with artifacts that seem impossibly well preserved — from shoes and hat pins to tools, kitchenware, and even jars of pickles. The fact that these relics survived underground for over a century is in itself astonishing. One of the highlights is walking along a full-scale replica of the Arabia’s main deck (171 ft long), complete with original boilers, anchors, the paddle wheel, and even a mule skeleton recovered from the wreck. It’s immersive, eerie, and wonderfully educational. What I appreciated most was the balance between big “wow” artifacts and the tiny, everyday items — every jar, nail, or coin gives you a micro-glimpse into frontier life in 1856. The staff is knowledgeable and clearly passionate, and they make the science of preservation feel as exciting as the history itself. If you’re a history buff, a lover of oddities, or just someone who enjoys places that make you stop and think, the Arabia Steamboat Museum will deliver. And as a bonus, its setting in the River Market makes it easy to pair with strolling, local food, or nearby shops. I’m giving it five stars — I’ll be recommending this place to everyone I know.

We visited the Arabia Steamboat Museum today, and it was awesome! The history, artifacts, and exhibits were all fascinating—and Josh made the experience even better. Definitely worth the visit. One tip: parking on one side of the building is free, but the other side is paid. We didn’t know that and ended up paying when we didn’t have to!
Brett J — Google review
We paid $35.96 for two people in October 2025. It is a very interesting place that is at the deepest lower levels of the building. There's a big wheel that was pretty cool and you could see it rotating in the water. Though I could not locate the actual source of the energy which I'm assuming is a massive electric motor of some sort with a gearbox and it was hidden. The place is extremely dark for those with limited vision which hindered my ability to see a lot of the attractions. Electricity must be a factor in how they display things because it would be better fully lit to actually see a lot of it. Since it's a merchant ship most of the merchandise is what you would expect from a delivery vehicle or a massive container ship. The merchandise that was on said ship is quite interesting and I've had a number of those items over the years. I especially lock their lock collection. I lived in a farmhouse as a kid that had all those white ceramic locks and knobs. The fine China was really beautiful and you can find exact pieces online through eBay or other sources and the prices are pretty expensive. One basic white serving dish with lid was over $250. The price was about what you would expect from a place designed to bring in tourist and visitors. It's a bit more than other places at 16.50 per person.
Kameljoe21 — Google review
First time here and didn't know what to expect, but it was pretty cool! The history of the Steamboat Arabia was fascinating, and the museum did a great job of telling its story through short videos as you walk down to the main exhibit. The artifacts are truly impressive, and the excavation story is truly something. The only reason for four stars was the guy at the entrance, who I purchased tickets through, didn't seem like he was having a good day and made it seem like doing his job was an inconvenience, but overall, I highly recommend going here if you are in the KC area!

One of the most fantastic places I have been to and it's hardly advertised. Wifey and I were recommended to go here by a couple we never met at a Subway sandwich shop he said yeah there's the steamboat Museum you might find interesting. WOW! WHAT A FRIGGAN UNDERSTATEMENT!! Google the Arabian steamboat sinking for additional information but this is a site not to be missed.
PlainOlBill — Google review
The Steamboat Arabia Museum is one of the most fascinating places I’ve visited in the city. It’s like stepping into a perfectly preserved time capsule from the 1850s. The story of how the steamboat sank—and how it was excavated 132 years later from a Kansas cornfield—is incredible in itself. But the real magic is in the artifacts: hundreds of thousands of items, from boots to buttons to bottled preserves, all remarkably intact. The museum is very well laid out and the staff do an excellent job explaining the history and significance of what you’re seeing. Whether you’re into history, archaeology, or just love a good story, this is a must-see. Great for families, tourists, or even locals who haven’t been yet. Highly recommend making time for this unique slice of American history!

The American Jazz Museum, located in the 18th & Vine Historic Jazz District of Kansas City, is a vibrant celebration of jazz music. Visitors can immerse themselves in the history and impact of jazz through interactive exhibits, live performances, and educational programs. The museum houses an impressive collection of musical instruments, exclusive photographs, recordings, and artifacts dating back to the 1940s. Notable highlights include Julia Lee's 'Party Time' album cover from 1946.
You only think you know jazz. Go here, and you will be immersed in it. Interactive exhibits make it so unique. Location only adds to its appeal. Please stop to talk to the greeter. When he says 'Have a Jazzy Time', I get chills. If you're lucky, which I was on numerous occasions, there's someone playing in the Blue Room or classroom. Even if you're on the fence about jazz, it's a lesson in expression and culture that can't be equaled. This is my only must-go in KC, aside from Arthur Bryant's, of course. Fortunately, Arthur Bryant's is only a couple blocks away!!

A great place to learn about some of the greatest musicians in jazz history. You can also listen to some of the music and watch old films. I like the fact that the Blue Room is also attached to the museum and they had a live jazz group playing called Go Hard. They were really good. Before you go into the museum check out the Jazz Walk of Fame sidewalk.

The American Jazz Museum is a true gem in the heart of Kansas City! From the moment you walk in, you're immersed in the rich history and soul of jazz music. The exhibits are beautifully curated, featuring legends like Charlie Parker, Ella Fitzgerald, and Duke Ellington. I especially loved the interactive displays and the listening stations—such a cool way to experience the music firsthand. The museum does a fantastic job connecting the cultural roots of jazz with the vibrant present-day scene. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do. I also appreciated the live music at the Blue Room—an unforgettable experience! Whether you're a lifelong jazz fan or just curious about America's musical heritage, this museum is well worth your time. Highly

We were the only ones visiting on a Thursday morning right after they opened. We had to take our jazz trumpet playing son there and we were welcomed by Muriel who really spent time with us and spent some time educating my son on the Kansas City scene. In addition she encouraged making connections with various individuals associated with the museum as well as potential jazz camp and perhaps career in music. She also dispelled our understanding about the Blue Room jazz club and children may attend due to the club is a listening room and even though it serves alcohol it does not bar children from attending performances. So we were super excited we could take him, since my wife and I have been many times to see local and national jazz musicians. So glad it is one of the few UNESCO creative arts cities and Kansas City keeping jazz alive as well as its history.

One of the most beautiful and informative places. The neon lights, the music and we were treated to an afternoon live concert in the main atrium. Went across the street to the Gem where we saw an incredible jazz band from Mt Prospect. The Negro League museum is in the same space. Also beautifully done. Congrats! From Illinois travelers.

This is a great place to learn about the history of Kansas City jazz. If you have young children, be sure to take them with you. While much of the historic 18th Street area around it feels like it’s in decline, we hope this place will be preserved for years to come. There is also plenty of parking nearby.

Nice museum with good history on KC jazz and the jazz era. Interactive exhibits, great video of the history of jazz, nice little gift shop too.

As an avid jazz lover, I knew visiting this place in the historic jazz district when I came to town was a must do. It did not disappoint. It’s small but very informative. It has some interactive parts where you can actually hear some of the Jazz greats playing. I enjoyed every minute there. There is an attached Jazz lounge called the Blue room that had a free jazz show at 5:30 that I stuck around for. It was awesome and a great vibe.

Truman Farm Home, built in the 1890s by Harry S. Truman's grandmother, was once a 600-acre farm and is now an important part of Truman's life history. Although open for visits anytime, the National Park Service offers indoor tours only twice a year during April for Truman's birthday celebration and one Saturday in September or October. The site is well-preserved and offers insight into Missouri's only United States president.
This National Historic Site is tucked away in the hustle & bustle of the area. Not too far off from the highways, it's easy to get to. This is the farm where President Harry Truman came to live in 1906 as a way to help his parents, grandparents, and sister with the farmstead. He lived here 11 years. You cannot visit the inside of the house due to the condition, but you are permitted to walk the property. It's very cute. Depending on the time of year you visit, you may see National Park Service Rangers here who can answer questions about the property.

Cool to see the farm home of Missouri's only United States president. Interesting sight that is well preserved. Apparently they do interior tours on Friday and Saturday. We didn't get to go inside. There is coyote currently living under one of the out buildings. They have that area cordoned off. We saw him go under the smokehouse.
Ben M — Google review
Unfortunately, it appears this site isn’t open to visitors anymore. The grounds are maintained and it looks like the parking lot is fairly new. There weren’t any signs to no go on the grounds so we just checked out around the house. Still pretty neat to see in middle of a busy area. I hope tours are brought back.

It doesnt look like the community gives enough importance to this historical place. It is surrounded by rundown and abandonned buildings. The place itself was closed for renovations.

Very interesting and educational tour. Kate was very knowledgeable about the historical significance of the Truman Farm Home. The building and furniture artifacts are very interesting and telling of Truman's early years. Overall, wonderful tour and unique historical site.

We biked here from Long Lake. WARNING, trail is poorly labeled once one gets near the city, which is extremely unfortunate. I don't understand -- plenty of sign beforehand but nothing once approaching the city and significant traffic. Be sure to check what days it is open -- when we arrived it was closed. Still it was fun to see the original farmstead now surrounded by the city. We would like to return sometime to see the inside.
Kim H — Google review
Loved the phone tour to give us info since there was nobody there. Very well maintained. Just wish you could tour inside too.

The old farm house was cool. We went when the parks and rec where there (2x per year). They had amazing amount of history to share (which made it way longer than I was looking forward to). You can go anytime of the year, just grab the brochure and call the number to listen to a recorded tour while walking around the outside of the house. It's almost worth making the trip if you're history buff, but kids will be bored out of their minds.

When visiting Kansas City, don't miss the opportunity to explore the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, which showcases the history of segregated baseball leagues from their founding in 1920 to Jackie Robinson's groundbreaking debut with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. The museum's 10,000-square-foot facility houses a rich collection of photographs, films, and artifacts that depict the significant role played by African-American baseball leagues during the 20th century.
This is an outstanding museum that captures a comprehensive picture of the Negro Leagues and the players. I had the privilege to hear the president of the museum speak so eloquently and passionately about the players and bring the history to life. This is a “must visit” museum for any serious baseball fan and the quality of the museum and quantity of exhibits and displays is a testament to so many historians with a passion for keeping this amazing piece of baseball history alive for future generations.

YES! Had a wonderful time in the museum. Lots and lots of information and artifacts from the league. You are also treated to a short documentary about how and why the league was started. The museum also gives a timeline of things going on around the world as the league was forming and prospering. The museum is for everyone and all will enjoy. If you are a music fan you can walk over to the Jazz Museum when you finish.

The stadium has a rich history, having seen legendary NFL players like Joe Montana, Marcus Allen, and Derrick Thomas in action. Known for its passionate fans, it holds the Guinness World Record for the loudest crowd in an outdoor pro football stadium.
Arrowhead Stadium is absolutely insane, and that’s in a very good way. The fans love their team and they are very loud. Arrowhead has to be one of the loudest stadiums in the league. The fans are also very friendly and enjoy interacting with opposing teams fans. Absolutely wonderful atmosphere and well worth the trip

Best stadium in football until they build another one. Clark Hunt is the dream NFL owner. This stadium is classic and timeless, old school and modern. The parking/driving situation is like any other venue of this size. If you come, plan on arriving early and staying late. Prices are high but each purchase contributed to the growth of this team’s brand and it is worth every penny. This is a place that will give you memories that last a lifetime. Bucket list venue for everyone.

I have been bringing my family, including my daughters, to games at Arrowhead Stadium for more than twenty five years. As long time season ticket holders, our lives during football season have always revolved around the Kansas City Chiefs. Some of our best family memories have been made right here, surrounded by thousands of fans who share the same love and excitement for the team. From the moment you walk into Arrowhead, you can feel the energy in the air. The sea of red, the sound of drums, and the roar of the crowd create an atmosphere that is truly electric. The fans are passionate, loyal, and welcoming to everyone. Whether it is the first game of the season or a big playoff matchup, the excitement never fades. The stadium staff are always friendly and helpful, and they keep everything running smoothly even when the crowds are huge. The food is great, and there is nothing like enjoying barbecue and cheering on the Chiefs surrounded by family and friends. Arrowhead Stadium is not just a place to watch football. It is a place where generations of fans come together to celebrate, to share traditions, and to be part of something truly special. It is an experience unlike any other.

Brought my Chiefs fan son to the Pro Shop to buy some Chiefs gear. We were in from out of town for a different event, but took some time to swing by. Only complaint was that there was a Royals baseball game going on next door and one security guard told us to park in lot H, but there wasn't any signs on how to enter, so we moved the chain and parked there. Another security guard came racing from across the way in his golf cart to tell us we can't do that. I told him there aren't any signs, etc and the other lady didn't give us proper instructions. He left, but they could do better with signage.

Would like to be able to rate as 4.5. Gates open early for tailgating. For tailgating, they have port-a-potties, but NO handwashing stations, so bring sanitizing wipes. There are bins in the parking lot to collect metal/plastic/glass for recycling, and they also usually have a staff person drive around the lot before game time to collect your bagged recycling. At stadium entrance, the security staff has been pleasant. Inside the stadium, the women's restrooms are clean and have an attendant. If you need salt for food, bring your own, especially for the popcorn.

The Harry S Truman National Historic Site, located in Grandview and Independence, Missouri, is the former home of the 33rd president of the United States. Visitors can explore the intimate glimpse of Truman's life and career through personal artifacts, furniture, photographs, and period antiques. The white Victorian-style structure remains much as it did in the early 20th century. The site also includes neighboring homes such as those belonging to Bess Truman's brothers and the president's aunt.
Beautiful home and very interesting, knowledgeable park guide. I didn’t know much about Truman but really enjoyed the history lesson. The National Park Service has done a great job with the videos and the house across the street that belonged to Truman’s cousins. Wish we had more time to go through the Truman Library.

So much memorabilia and history here. A must see for those who love history!

The Harry S. Truman National Historic Site offers a unique opportunity to step into the personal world of President Truman. The home is beautifully preserved, and the 30-minute guided tour of the first floor is both informative and engaging. It’s a wonderful historic site for anyone interested in learning more about this pivotal figure in American history.

This Presidential Library with spectacular. It followed the progression that developed his leadership. He was a humble servant, give me the White House more secure in the Oval Office a modest place of Presidential representation. I highly recommend, learning what real leadership is like. Interesting fact while we were there during the week leading to 4th of July 2025, that is the building where Johnson signed the bill that put Medicare in place for the American public, while the current Administration wants to dismantle Medicare and Medicaid.

The Kansas City Power and Light Company Building is a historical landmark in downtown Kansas City that was built in 1905. It is a nine-block living and entertainment complex that includes a one-block covered outdoor music venue called Kansas City Live!.
What an amazing place to see and experience. If you like people watching, socializing, great food, adult beverages and live music, this is the place you’re looking for. It’s great all year long but spring, summer and fall offers the best in temperate weather. The large stage is located for everyone to view. The variety in food and drink will meet all of your desires. The bowling alley and the dance clubs will keep you moving and the size of the venue will accommodate large or small groups. I am from NY and I really wish we had something like The Power and Light District back home. If you’re not having fun you’re doing it wrong. I strongly recommend this place for great food, fun, music and people. Let me know how it goes.

Great City apartments with huge windows, very conducive layout to relaxation. I went to visit a friend's apartment and immediately felt cozy and comfortable like I just wanted to sit in front of one of those huge Windows watch it snow and read a book. Vibrant area of the city. I honestly cannot get over how great everyone is here after living in the building for six months now. Chris at the leasing office is one of the friendliest and most helpful people I've encountered in leasing. He responds immediately to any request and is honestly a joy to work with. Izzy and Bettina are also incredible. I actually chose to live at the unit because of a tour with Izzy. They gave the impression that they truly cared about their tenants and it has been proven true. Lastly, maintenance here is responsive and they go above and beyond. I've worked with Melissa several times and she is always extremely helpful. She will make sure that everything is fixed and perfect. I'm so appreciative of this entire team. I'm so thankful I chose P&L Apartments over my other options. I really love the people here and couldn't imagine living anywhere else.

Bald bouncer or guard or whatever he was needs be fired immediately. Downtown are monster jam was touching everyone's kids dancing having fun on the stage. I get liability issue but you don't go touching everyone's kids. Way he went about it was seriously disturbing. Even had another security guard shaking his head.

The Observation Deck at City Hall offers a unique experience for visitors to marvel at the exquisite Art Deco architecture and detailing of the building. The interior is adorned with decorative lines, Italian marble, and hand-pressed oak veneer paneling, exuding Depression-era grace. On the 30th floor, an open-air observation deck provides stunning views of the city's suburbs and the Missouri River on clear days.
Great place for a view of the city. Look it up online and you have to email to make an appointment for it, only available certain days of the week. It's free.

I've waited 3 years to see this because back in 2021 it was closed due to covid. This time I took a chance and just walked in and I lucked out. Escorted by a young female security guard we rode the elevator to the 28th floor and then there were a couple of floors of stairs you had to walk up. I was a little surprised because I thought it would be an enclosed deck but no you were almost like on an open roof deck. I admit I was quite nervous and a little shaky because it was a little windy. I didn't stay long and was ready to leave when the time came.
William B — Google review
Website did not include times and dates that this attraction is available. I paid for parking and wasted my time getting here and going inside just to find out I could not go to the observation deck. I’m writing this review to raise awareness.
Harvey F — Google review
I was very excited to see this but it was a no go. The observation deck is rarely ever open, has really limited hours and is quite difficult to get to. You have to schedule a week in advance on the website as well. This is really such a huge missed opportunity. Simple hours and a cover charge to visit would cover staff and maintenance and become a major tourist attraction for the city and the City Hall. The views look like they would be gorgeous, but we were not able to experience them. If you’re going to try and do this, plan well in advance and book it, and watch the weather. Bad weather they will not be open the day of or the day after. Not really recommended, a waste of parking fees and time.

Worth the trip to look at the city from high above.

Not open on Thursday. Apparently, its only open Monday Wednesday amd Friday. Great job city of KC!.....thanks for keeping google updated!

I was excited about this and you have to email them and set up a date to come. They only take people Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 10-2 despite the website saying 4. So finally we are told a date we can come so we get there and are told it rained that morning so the observation deck is closed and we have to redo the whole process and when we get there during the week again we might be told sorry no again! I was excited but it has been nothing but a headache!

Located in Swope Park, the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium is a family-friendly destination with over 1,700 animals. The zoo offers engaging educational programs and interactive experiences with zookeepers. Visitors can enjoy picnics at Jacob L. Loose Park nearby and explore its beautiful gardens. The zoo's acclaimed Polar Bear Passage features award-winning design and allows visitors to see playful bears along with other animal species like zebras, cheetahs, lions, and kangaroos.
Visited the zoo recently and had a fantastic experience overall. There’s honestly so much to see and do that one day isn’t enough to cover it all thoroughly. Between the various animal exhibits, walking trails, and interactive experiences, it’s easy to lose track of time. If you’re planning a visit, definitely wear comfortable shoes and be ready for a full day! A few highlights that really stood out: The train ride is a fun and relaxing way to see different parts of the zoo without having to walk the entire distance. Great for kids and a nice break for adults too! The polar bear exhibit was incredible — seeing such a majestic animal up close, especially when it's swimming, is a rare treat. The cable car ride provides an awesome aerial view of the zoo and surrounding areas. It's both scenic and practical if you're trying to get from one end of the zoo to the other. What truly stole the show, though, was the “GloWild” lighting experience. Even if you're not particularly into zoos, it’s absolutely worth visiting at least once just for the lights alone. The displays are breathtaking – creative, vibrant, and perfect for all ages. It felt like walking through a glowing, magical world, and the attention to detail was impressive. Overall, a fantastic experience. Just be sure to plan your time well — or better yet, plan for a return trip!

We had not been to the KC zoo in many years. The staff was nice and the facilities were clean. The aquarium was amazing. My favorites are the penguins and the sea lions. We went again to experience the GloWild event that happens at night. We took the grandkids and it was fun as well. So many hand painted lighted exhibits.
Larry R — Google review
Had a great time at the zoo! The aquarium and penguin exhibits are excellent! I could have spent hours watching everything. The polar bear exhibit had no animals to display. That used to be a fun thing to see. The California Sea Lions are always fun to watch. The elephants were great to see. The KC Zoo has the 2nd oldest African Elephant in North America! She was born in 1968! If you have never been there or haven't been in a few years you will be amazed at all the improvements made. Also, to the staff at the Zoo, You guys are great! Everyone was friendly and made my visit even better. Thank you!!!

Went specifically for Brew at the Zoo.. Was cool to get to check out the GloWild exhibits and small subset of animals as well. The event was cool.. Maybe a little overcrowded, for me, as lines got pretty long. More $ for the zoo though, so can't complain. Definitely was t to get back for a real zoo experience.
Justin N — Google review
Beautiful places for families and friends! The zoo pays a lot of attention to details and even the small things. I really appreciate their efforts to create such a welcoming environment. The animals seem happy and are living their best lives.
Ben — Google review
I hadn’t been to the KC Zoo in almost 10 years. Since news of the new aquarium was announced, I knew that I definitely wanted to check things out. My daughter brought up the idea to visit on a Sunday afternoon and I was all in. I decided to purchase the premier family membership which includes a year of entry to the zoo for two adults and unlimited rides on the various modes of transportation in the zoo. It was a beautiful day and we had a wonderful time walking around, seeing the animals, and riding the various modes of transportation. There is a new enclosure under construction for the giraffes that will open in 2026. It’s evident that our zoo has not rested on its laurels and is in a constant state of improvement based on this visit compared to my last one. Whether you’re a resident of this area or a visitor to KC, I don’t think you will be disappointed. Put it on your list of things to do!

I really like how affordable it is, especially with the inclusion of the aquarium. It never feels crowed and the animals feel like they are well taken care of. I love how it's set up too! Lots to see and the fennec foxes were super cute.

Went in a Friday in October. Place was nearly empty, was so easy to walk around. Huge place couldn't see it all in 4 hours. The immersive experience with the kangaroos was incredible. The aquarium is outstanding! So worth the minimal cost. 10/10

Worlds of Fun is a sprawling 235-acre amusement park in Kansas City, offering an array of attractions for visitors of all ages. Divided into themed areas such as Africa, Americana, Europe, the Orient, and Scandinavia, the park features a variety of thrilling rides and roller coasters like the renowned Prowler. Families can also enjoy live entertainment and a Snoopy-themed kids' area called Planet Snoopy.
This place was amazing! Perfect place for family fun. It was mine and my children's first time and we were completely unprepared but we had so much fun. Some things to note if you are going for the first time. Buy your ticket s in advance/ online to avoid waiting in line to get in. Pack light, for ladies leave your handbag behind and take a fanny pack instead(Something you can strap on and be hands Free on the rides without loosing your stuff during rides). You can rent a locker for your things for $23 or more depending on the size. Do your research on the fun rides and plan ahead to ensure you get to all the worlds of fun and Oceans of fun rides you would like. You will not be able to ride them all because there are just too many and there's not enough time to get to all in one day. Be prepared for long wait times on popular rides. I mean 30- 45 minute wait times on the weekends just for a 2 minute ride. The food is good but pricey. Wear comfortable shoes, there's a lot of walking required. Pack some bottled water. This place is overwhelmingly fun and worth every penny.

Worlds of Fun lives up to its name—it’s a vibrant, family-friendly amusement park with something for everyone. Whether you're chasing thrills or just looking for a relaxing day out, this place delivers. Your ticket also covers Oceans of Fun water park: Perfect for cooling off on hot summer days. The parking ticket is on a high side but you can can purchase a season ticket to avoid that. Tip: Buy tickets online in advance and arrive early to make the most of your day.

Some rides were down and I'm not sure why. It may be the time of year of the events going on. The carnival games are typical rip-offs with cheap prizes when you do win. I have several good allergies and for the most part was able to ask about allergens. I wasn't able to get information at one of the grills in Africa. The chaperone policy was "in effect" but didn't seem to be enforced. We only came across one photographer the entire time we were there from 1200-2000, but he did a fantastic job. He was quick and left us laughing. The FunPix photos weren't working when we rode the Zambizi Zinger which was unfortunate. It was a fun, quick, jerky ride that was one and done for us. One of the drink places had no ice. Still, we had fun. We spent 8 hours there, mostly taking in the Halloween decorations which is what we came for. We bought the Prestige Passes and do plan to come back in the future, hopefully to better entertainment.

It was drizzling but we still had a great time. The lines weren’t long at all. We spent most of the day there from 11am - 10 pm and did the haunted attractions also. We had the the fast past on haunted houses, thankfully because there was lines. We had a great time and road all the rides some multiple times also. First time coming here during spook fest. Good times highly recommend

We visited Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun last July on a Monday, and it was a great experience! The park wasn’t too crowded, so we didn’t need to purchase a Fast Pass — we were able to enjoy most of the thrilling rides without long waits. The Mamba was a definite highlight — such a wild, adrenaline-pumping ride! We also got the unlimited Coca-Cola drink deal, which was totally worth it, especially on a hot day. At Oceans of Fun, we enjoyed the lazy river, though it would’ve been even better with more available tubes. Overall, it was a super fun day and made for a great side trip from Omaha. Would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a day of excitement and water fun!

Love worlds of fun always have a blast here but it definitely adds up fast! Thank you for being smoke and vape free that is a blessing! Food is way overpriced. Bathrooms are spaced too far apart, definitely need more! Most of the drink stations were not in working order when we visited which means the ones that were working were very busy all day long running out of everything. Lines were terrible 90 minute waites for one ride makes your time go by so fast while your just standing around. Parking cost $30! No coolers or food is allowed to come in to the park with you so that's unfortunate. Just be prepared to spend a pretty penny whenever you come to worlds of fun.
Monica A — Google review
This is a fun park with a great variety of coasters and other rides, and a water park. It's a good size so you can certainly spend all day here. The park is themed to around the world in 80 days. There's some really pretty theming in some areas, some nice shady spots. It's clean and I felt safe here. The rides are fun, the employees were nice that I encountered. Very fun
Sarah P — Google review
Weather today was perfect. For the most part the employees are nice and helpful. Our biggest issue was that my grandson really wanted dip n dots so we spent a lot of time waiting in lines to be told they didn't have but 1 flavor and would tell us to go to another location just to get there and find out that that location was closed .We found at oceans of fun they did have more then 1 flavor just to stand in line for a very very long time and when it was his turn to order was told that they started a download on card reader and was redirected to yet another stand By this time I was pretty upset that we had waited in several lines and yet again being sent somewhere else. This child was the last in line and they could not serve him because they had chosen that second to download a card reader. They could have and should have let him purchase his dip n dots . He was devastated. We spent a big part of our day standing in line to be told go stand in another line. He is a little guy and walking mostly all up hill all day is hard on his little legs ...He did finally get his dip n dots but in return he was left with 25 minutes of oceans of fun time it was closing time there ,that was upsetting. Back to worlds of fun so a lot more walking with a very tired disappointed child who is now getting cranky as well. If not for this run around we would have had a much better day...We did get some Camp Snoopy time in before the run around. For the smaller children that is the place to go..The employees there are very kid friendly. And we got 3 rides in after the run around...The only other issue is that it seems like no matter where you are going it is all uphill..

LEGOLAND Discovery Center Kansas City is a family-friendly entertainment hub located in the Crown Center of downtown Kansas City. The center offers an array of attractions, including LEGO toy displays, interactive rides, and a 4-D theater. Visitors can also explore how LEGOs are made and enjoy various themed areas such as Mini Land and Heartlake City. Additionally, the center provides educational opportunities for kids to enhance their skills in math and science while having fun with LEGOs.
This was a great experience! There were lot's of giant Lego creations to view that were amazingly detailed such as Arrowhead stadium, Boulevard Brewing and the Western Auto sign reflecting many K.C. greats. There were also various interactive displays where visitors could build their own Lego pizza, make a race car to zoom down a ramp or build a bumblebee. There was a " Lego cinema" area where visitors could view short ( 15 minute) Lego movies and also a " Wizard of Oz tornado machine"( available for $3) It was interesting for myself ( age 61) as well as 2 grandkids ages 1 and 5. Purchase tickets online & in advance for a discount & also available for $7 purchase a Robot lanyard where you can search for displays to receive stamps and also get your own Lego mini figure.

A whole floor full of Lego characters and educational games. A little bit expensive I would say … for just one floor for just one day… however we were free to go out to have lunch and allowed back in. It’s better if you book the tickets online in advance and visit on a weekday.

Kids loved it. Was surprised that they had 3 rides in side. Was really crowded when we first arrived but did thin out so they could enjoy it more with out bumping g into other constantly. Will return Was really cool with alot of hands on activities. The displays was awesome aswell.

The Discovery Center is located within a building complex. If you follow GPS it will put you near the entrance to the parking garage. Parking is by a ticket given as you pull in, and a validation ticket is given at the entrance to the Discovery Center for 3hrs of parking. HOLD ON TO BOTH. You will need both when you leave. Scan the parking ticket first, then the validation ticket for the discount. Regarding the inside, the Discovery Center was clean, and well staffed. Every employee seemed in a good mood and happy to help. We came here as an alternative to the St Louis zoo (because of the tornado damage) for my 17yr old who loves Legos. I really wish there was any type of disclaimer/disclosure for ages. This Discovery Center is very much for younger kids, maybe early teens. It was much smaller than expected, but we still had fun.

We came here for my son’s 4th birthday today and had the best time and experience we’ve ever had at this Lego land. The workers were the sweetest to him. There was an older female employee that I did not catch her name but took her time to help him make a car and pumpkin. She made sure that he had a birthday crown and buttons once she found out that it was his birthday. You could tell that she loves her job there and working with kids. She made his experience there extra special today! We stayed for almost 4 hours and my son never ran out of things to do, he is obsessed with legos and building with them.

The Money Museum is a federal bank building with tours that houses a huge cash vault, historic coins and bills, and an interpretative display on monetary policy. The museum is kid-friendly and offers self-guided tours or audio/ iPad guided tours.
If you're curious about U.S. currency or just appreciate well-done museums, the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City’s Money Museum is a hidden gem. The Truman coin set exhibit is truly stunning; a perfect showcase of U.S. minting craftsmanship and presidential history. The vault room is an absolute standout. Getting to step watch them count and stack notes and to see pallets of millions of dollars is unforgettable. Every exhibit is educational and thoughtfully designed, from how money is printed to its role in the economy. There are interactive displays and knowledgeable staff who make learning fun. Best of all? Admission is free. I walked away with a deeper understanding of currency and even a fun souvenir. Highly recommend for families, students, or anyone with a curious mind!
Megan M — Google review
They had a room with a video about the federal reserve that was quite dry. Wish they had maybe 2 or 3 with varying topics still related instead of one on a loop with someone named 'penny' wow they try a little too hard to be cutesy. The staff who spoke to me upon arrival were brief without emotion. The mentions of mostly geared towards children is correct, however has 2-3 hours of material for adults to read as well if interested. I have always found banks and the fed interesting and after almost 2 hours had to leave due to it being so dry and the staff unfriendly at a museum? One lady after you enter was behind a counter on a zoom call talking about a logo and would not answer any of our questions...she was too important working at the front desk of money museum at federal reserve bank...one other staff member was giving her family a private tour was kind enough to answer a few questions. Wasn't kind enough to allow me to join their more informational tour..bag of shredded money and comic books for kids are great. clean museum expect 1.5-2 hours to check it all out. Monday here was uneventful for vault viewing. Free entrance was nice about 15-20 min walk from street car

Free museum with free cut up bills at the end. Learn about currency through the years. Lift a very heavy gold bar. Fiat money government-issued currency that is not backed by a physical commodity, such as gold or silver. Its value is derived from the trust and confidence that people place in the government issuing it. The term "fiat" comes from Latin, meaning "let it be done," reflecting the fact that its value is based on a government decree.

The money museum in Kansas City showcases the federal reserve bank and offers free exhibits including the Harry S Truman coin collection. We spent about an hour here and the kids loved it. They were impressed with the workers packing money to be delivered to banks/stores and watching them send it off by the pallet. If you’re in KC this is worth the stop!
Matthew M — Google review
What a hidden gem! My kids were skeptical about it but they found so much to look at and learn about, it was fun to see. It's smaller but well laid out and encourages interaction. Bright and colorful displays mixed with hands on pieces were a nice surprise. We took a pop up tour on a Friday morning and that was fantastic! Our guides had desk jobs at the Federal Reserve and this was a new thing for them and they knocked it out the park. They had a unique perspective because they had different jobs and were so fun and informative. We all learned so much and talked about it all thru lunch. We did the 45 minute tour and stayed for almost another hour. 100 percent try to do a tour if you can! Definitely worth going thru if you have time!

The Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art stands as a beacon of modern creativity in Missouri, showcasing an impressive collection that spans over 700 pieces from the early 20th century to contemporary works. Nestled within a striking architectural space made of concrete, steel, and glass, this museum features masterpieces by iconic artists like Jackson Pollock and Georgia O'Keeffe. Visitors can immerse themselves in both permanent collections and around ten special exhibitions annually, making it a vibrant hub for art enthusiasts.
What a treasure to have such a fine art exhibit location in downtown KC. Easily accessible from the Plaza area and free for all to visit. The exhibits were intriguing and vary widely from early European art to post revolutionary art. There was a great exhibit of Egyptian artifacts from the pyramid too. Lots of church related early Christianity artifacts and displays. The stained glass works were so beautiful too. You can spend a day here easily or break it up into smaller visits over time. There is a nice cafe in the center with great food and a selection of coffees and deserts. Venture outside and see the world’s largest shuttle cocks and other great displays of art works. Pack a lunch and enjoy a picnic on the lawn under the shade of the many Ginkgo trees. There is plenty of parking in the parking garage and it cost 14 dollars per vehicle, which seems like a bargain for the free entry. If you have a handicap tag or plaque the parking is free.

A really enjoyable contemporary art museum with a variety of different types of installations. I enjoyed the audio/visual exhibits they had, as well as the artwork by Lucía Vidales. Her installation in the foyer is massive and there are so many layers to it. I appreciated the mini scavenger hunt they had to go along with the painting, as well as the informational page written in both Spanish and English.

We went for the afternoon because we like walking around museums. This museum is small and we were able to go through in about an hour. The sculptures outside or my favorite part. Inside they appear to have rotating exhibits and at the time of our visit (September 2025) most of the exhibits weren’t something I was interested in. However, if you’d like contemporary art, I would recommend going if you’d like museums, it’s free so it wouldn’t hurt to swing by. They also have a small restaurant inside which I was told has good food. We didn’t eat there so I can’t give my own opinion.

July 2025 Returned on a summer weekday with my 12 year old cousin. She was enthralled by every canvas, film and sculpture. She was particularly impressed with the gift shop jewelry and brunch. Spring 2025. We hit a rotation cycle, so there wasn't much art to see today. No worries, the wonderful little cafe was open, so we ordered brunch with cocktails and chatted. A walk around the block afterward to get a closer look at local metal and ceramic sculptures was the perfect closing to a Sunday visit between busy friends.

The Kansas City Public Library: Central Library has a rich history dating back to 1873 when it was established as the Public School Library of Kansas City. It quickly became a cultural hub, offering not only educational resources but also serving as an alternative entertainment option in downtown. The library's unique facade, designed to resemble giant bookends, makes for a perfect selfie spot. Visitors can explore a wide range of titles catering to all age groups and enjoy the airy patio with a cup of coffee.
Beautiful library filled with stunning art and sculptures throughout. It’s a fantastic place to study, and the staff was incredibly attentive and friendly. I even received a library card as a visitor, which was perfect because it allowed me to work comfortably on the 5th floor. The only downside I noticed was the presence of many homeless individuals, though I understand they are just in need of a warm place, and I respect that. Overall, I highly recommend this library for anyone looking for a serene study environment!

My daughter and I were in town for something else and had a few hours to spare so we walked over to the library. It's very nice and welcoming and felt very safe. There is a display up some stairs called "The Road Home" that highlights/honors the stories of some homeless people which is beautiful. Downstairs there are movies and a little theater.

This is a 5 floor library with basement. Pretty good book selection. The 5th floor has a terrace and an old school reading room that looks like an executives office. Parking is free for one hour in the adjacent garage with validation. They have a small art gallery and a coffee and pastry shop.
Don S — Google review
The most beautiful library I’ve ever seen (haven’t been to D.C. yet). Beautiful inside and wonderful art and photographs as well as great historical exhibits. The rooftop terrace is wonderful and provides beautiful views of the city. Unfortunately there are people who are struggling on the third and first floor, with signs of drug use and lots of people sleeping. They do not disturb you and I’m happy they have a place to stay cool and comfortable, but it does impact the library experience as most places to sit are used up for sleeping.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I can’t say enough about the amazing staff at the Kansas City Public Library, especially James and Sawyer. I recently found myself in a very desperate situation after my vehicle tag was stolen. To prevent further issues, I was creating a temporary tag with my police case number and department information to stop people from reporting my vehicle for not displaying a tag. When I visited the library, I explained my predicament to Sawyer on the third floor. She immediately understood the urgency of my situation and provided me with book repair tape—exactly what I needed to laminate my homemade license plate. Sawyer was professional, resourceful, and compassionate, even as she juggled assisting other patrons. I’ve also had the pleasure of interacting with James, whose professionalism and respectfulness consistently stand out. It’s clear that both James and Sawyer are skilled at managing diverse personalities with grace and emotional intelligence, which is something I truly appreciate as someone with a background in psychology and sociology. The library staff truly went above and beyond to help me in a stressful time, and I’m incredibly grateful for their support. I highly recommend this library for their exceptional service and caring staff!

I love working at libraries when I travel. The KC downtown library has a lot of spaces to work but can be quite noisy in the mornings. Staff was great and I would have missed the art exhibit had a staff member not pointed it out. There is a lot of great architecture and art to see. The book selection is also amazing!

This library is Massive with lots of places to sit and read. We stopped in for the midday meditation and it was honestly incredible. Everyone was extremely friendly and the experience was incredible. The view from the balcony was very nice. There were lots of historic and art culture things spread throughout. This place is almost halfway a museum

I came here today to use a computer. I go upstairs to the 3rd floor computer area and ask "Katie" if I can use a computer. She sees they are all being used so she tells me this and I ask to reserve one, put in wait, and she starts fumbling with the computer because she's trying to figure out how to do the procedure. As I'm waiting I see she's fumbling with her nose like she needs a tissue. So being raised the correct way I offered her a tissue. She looks at me and says I'm going to have to ask you to leave this area and use the computers on the first floor. I say because I offered you a tissue and she says yes because I feel you were trying to make fun of me. I ask are you serious and before she could reply I turn and just walked away. I know that look and the protocol with the staff here. Any of them feel offended or just feel like being an "A" hole the create a situation and then ask you to leave and if you don't they call the Police and have a trespass violation entered against you. I ask to speak to a manager and "Katie" says in a rude manner you can see a manager on the first floor. The managers speak to you in a condescending manner and don't do anything to correct the staff's ill behavior. I wrote a email to the director of this location, Theresa Bolton, over a month ago because of one of the managers threatening to call the police after my civil rights were violated, first amendment, and got completely ignored. So much for diplomacy right. I've been sexually assaulted twice at this location and both times brought it to the attention of the staff here, did anything happen after reporting the incidents, of course some action was taken yes and as soon as I get the return email from the director here I'll share it.

The National Frontier Trails Museum in Independence, Missouri is a history museum and interpretive center that delves into the settlement of the American West through the California, Oregon, and Santa Fe Trails. It showcases exhibits featuring early fur trappers, Lewis and Clark's explorations, and reasons for westward migration. The museum houses original diaries, letters, covered wagons, and an award-winning film. Visitors can also explore a children's activity room.
Excellent little museum that is a must visit! You start off with a vintage video showing that’s about 20 mins long and then you move on. Lots to read and learn through out the tour, very informative about the transformation of how America became an enormous country. Cute little affordable gift shop at the end. We spent about 4hrs here even with it being small we may have to go back to keep reading what we may have missed. We will spent the winter weekends visiting places that independences has to offer for free!

Great little museum! Unfortunately, the gift shop was closed today. We have plans to return in future to browse!

The location has moved so we had to do a little searching to find it because the maps hadn’t been updated at that time. They had an interactive area for kids and adults alike. There was a lot of interesting historical information and artifacts available for viewing. At the time that we went, there weren’t many people there and the parking was plenty.

I visited this museum on a Monday in July 2024. It's a small museum but packed with historical interesting information about early American history and it's endeavors to go west. Most fascinating was learning about the Donner family and the contributions made by African Americans.

We visited the Trails Museum in August 2025. This is a great museum. There are exhibits of period gear and clothing, and explanations of trail development and the experiences of the pioneering Europeans. We spent almost two hours here, reading the numerous personal stories of those who traveled west. As visitors from the East Coast, we came away with a new appreciation of this part of American history.

I am starting my trip to Idaho and planned to follow the Oregon National Trail. Since Independence Missouri was the starting point for several other National Trails also, this was a nice museum to visit. There is a 20-minute video with several exhibits. There is a small gift shop with a simple variety of items associated with the pioneers. Overall it is definitely worth the stop to learn about what the settlers had to endure on their journeys west.

I enjoyed the National Frontier Trails Museum with the free tour and the receptive staff! The gift shop was inexpensive, too. I liked the film showing.

The Airline History Museum, located at the Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport in Kansas City, was established in 1986 by aviation enthusiasts Dick McMahon and Larry A. Brown. Originally known as the Save A Connie Foundation, it has since grown to become a significant repository of aviation history.
Excellent! What a treasure trive of history! The guide was very knowledgeable and his love of the airline and history was evident.

We drove here out of town and they where so kind to me and my group of friends. We got to get up love and personal with the aircraft and had some very amazing conversations with the tour guide. As a pilot my self it was a fantastic oppertunity to see where we have come from in aviation and it really gave me a detailed idea of where we will be going in the future. All puns intended it is only up from here! They had multiple diffewnt aircraft on display some you could actually walk through while some where just for looking at. They are actively trying to restore all of these aircraft to flying standards again so they can be enjoyed outside of the hangar as well as inside! Very well done museum everyone! I was extremly pleased and I can't wait for more opportunities to enjoy this place.
Morghan — Google review
Finally got a chance to check this museum out. It is so much more than what I thought it was going to be! The history that just exudes from the entire hangar, let alone the wonderful aircraft they have... This place is absolutely unappreciated and should not be missed. Our guide was very friendly, knowledgeable and was just the right amount of tell you about things and let you check it out yourself. Support this museum, these are the kinds of places that are few and far between these days.

The good: Cool collection of aviation history. Seeing how airlines performed in the past is eye opening and nothing like it is today. This collection is worth seeing, it’s worth the time and money. The gentleman working in the office is kind and knowledgeable of all the items they have. If you’re an aviation nut like me this is a must while in KC. The bad: Visited during second week of August 2020 and the hanger was a little warm. Few hands on exhibits closed due to Covid 😔
Hector G — Google review
There are not many signs to tell you about the planes display. There are two planes that you can go inside. Since they are trying to restore them, they ask for a donation to go through them. There was a gentleman who spoke with us and he was friendly and knowledgeable. Overall, this was a small museum that was neat to visit.
Ashley L — Google review
Good museum for learning about passenger aviation in the 1940s-1960s era. It was really interesting to walk aboard the two planes and compare them to the air-travel experience of today. I also enjoyed the gallery with the old uniforms, photos, and other artifacts. The tour guide was very knowledgeable but focused perhaps a bit too heavily on technical details. The admission is supposed to be $8 for adults but we were charged $10 each.

Step back in time and immerse yourself in the rich history of Missouri at Shoal Creek Living History Museum. This 80-acre park is home to authentic buildings that showcase the state's past, offering a glimpse into frontier life. From log cabins and early mansions to barns, workshops, stores, a church, schoolhouse, and even Missouri City's original 1868 city hall and jail, the museum brings together historic structures from different communities and eras.
Took my kiddos and two of our neighborhood kiddos to check out Dhoal Creek strictly to see the buffalo. It's free to walk in. This was tricky because the entrance is a side ramp that is easy to miss, especially with 7 kids in the vehicle. Good thing we caught someone closing the gate and asked. The kids had such an amazing time. We were only there for 30 minutes, but we could have at least spent another 1 hour there. We have ages 16 to 9, and everyone enjoyed themselves. Even the 16 year old who didn't want to join to begin with. When we first arrived, the buffalo weren't anywhere in sight. They slowly came up to greet the kids. It was amazing. Can't wait to go back! Totally recommend. We arrived around 130pm. Did not cost anything to walk in and see the buffalo.

When people ask me where they should go while visiting Kansas City, I always recommend Shoal Creek Living History Museum. Unless you’re attending a special event that has a fee, it is free to walk the grounds and explore the little town on your own. The calendar on their website details any events and the hours of operation so you can plan accordingly, and they also have information on all of the buildings. There are also buffalo nearby for animal aficionados. My photo is from a trick-or-treat event that we attended in 2016 because it’s the only photo I have on me at this time.
J. H — Google review
My family and I had our first visit to Shoal Creek. What a beautiful place! The park is kept in such wonderful condition. It was so interesting reading the signs in front of each building to learn some of the history of the area and the representation of each building. I can't wait to go back on one of their pioneer day events to learn and discover even more. I enjoy exploring historical places with my family. To top it off, the bison were a lovely treat to see grazing in the pasture. If you're into photography, bring a zoom lens to get better shots of the bison when they're further out in the pasture. As the sun is setting behind them, you can get some amazing shots. I have to keep my best shots for myself, though. 😉

Cool, off the beaten path 1800's town. Buildings restored and moved there from places all around Clay County. If you love to photograph old buildings like I do, it's a must. And a herd of buffalo to boot.

Super cute place! They have some Bison that you are able to see. There are several picnic tables in a nice tree shady area. The little buildings all.have little signs explains about who had lived or worked there. You can only go inside the buildings during certain days or events. But its still fun to walk around. You can even ring the old school bell!

What a beautiful asset to this community! It is located in an amazing location! Gorgeous walk thru park with beautiful sites to keep everybody looking around! Perfect location for a family picnic! The bison wandering around is an added kudos to all involved in this park! The miscellaneous building and their history are intriguing to the young and old! The history of this park is fun to explore and imagine! The signage is well placed and beautifully displayed! If you haven't taken the time to visit this park, wait no longer! Take a drink and possibly a snack to carry around as you hike the trails! Impressive!

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fountain in Kansas City is a solemn and understated tribute to the 451 American lives lost in the Vietnam War. The monument features a memorial wall and a series of interconnected rectangular pools, creating a serene and poignant atmosphere. Nestled into the landscape, the fountain provides a peaceful setting for reflection and remembrance. As part of the city's collection of modern fountains, it offers a relaxing ambiance with its gentle burbling waters.
It is small and very understated - as many things here in the midwest are - as well serene and very poignant. Moving. As it should be. This is not meant to be grand, but more, a reminder to honor those who have not only fought bravely, but given the ultimate sacrifice. It is elegantly simple, and stacked on levels as if into a hillside, keeping nice site lines with the surrounding area. In a "City of Fountains" those here are quite modern, and listening to them is very relaxing. Low maintenance landscaping helps add an again, simple beauty. Parks and rec, or perhaps volunteers keep it well maintained. It should never go in disrepair. If you know a veteran let them know your appreciation.

This Memorial to Vietnam War veterans is a lovely spot in the spring and summer. The water fountains burble just enough to cut through the traffic noise, and the memorial's wall of names is an excellent backdrop to the fountains. I have seen vets of multiple wars having reunions.

City Hall in Kansas City is a significant example of Art Deco design and was part of Mayor Tom Pendergast's 10 Year Plan, which aimed to keep the city's economy afloat during the Great Depression. The building, completed in 1937, stands at 29 stories tall and features Neo-Classical and Beaux-Arts architectural styles. It is known for its intricate Art Deco details on the interior.
What a lovely experience getting a tour of the sky deck of city hall. The weather was lovely and the view was excellent! It is a FREE tour, however you do have to book in advance on the city hall website. I booked 5 days in advance, and she emailed me back right away. Kansas City!! Scam city!! Don't come here unless you are prepared to pay taxes on literally everything you came not to see or use. They literally charge you a tourist tax and a stadium tax, also a green energy tax, and for the final blow, a lodging tax for wherever you may stay. The city should be ashamed of them selves Absolutely shocking and should be illegal.

The fine employees of the city made an error with my income tax. They forgot to deduct the 1% city tax from my pay for the first half of this year 2024. Then, without warning, they deducted the entirety of the back taxes from one single check. Imagine my surprise when I am missing hundreds of dollars from my pay. I needed that money to make payments, pay bills, buy groceries. I guess the city had other plans for that money. And here I am unable to do anything about it except write a lousy review for these thieves. Something needs to change here.
Nick — Google review
I give the actual tour of the observation deck a 5 star. One of the neatest things you can do in KC.

I’m a 100% disabled Army Veteran and I’m basically being bullied by the city trash removal officials. I’ve tried to call and apply for Assisted Stop, no answer. I go out there to fix whatever issue the employees are having and they drive away from me like children are max speed, while I limp down the street after them. At this point I don’t know whether to get in touch with 911, wait to hear something, or get in touch with the ACTUAL VA just to get help. The system and unfit employees are only creating an increased health hazard in an environment that can’t afford the extra risk.

Kauffman Stadium, also known as The K, is a legendary pro-baseball complex in Kansas City. Built in 1973, it offers more than just baseball games with stunning views of the City of Fountains and Midwest landscapes. Visitors can enjoy hometown refreshments from Boulevard Brewing Company and Belfontes Ice Cream, as well as AZ Canteen by celebrity chef Andrew Zimmern. The stadium is a beloved landmark where sports enthusiasts can catch exhilarating baseball games and create lasting memories.
Wanted to go here for some time. Finally got here and it didn’t disappoint. It’s beautiful! The fountains are so sweet. Definitely an under appreciated stadium. I’ve been to Busch and Wrigley, this is just as good if not better. A shout out to the workers, they were all pleasant, friendly, and welcoming. I’ve never felt so welcomed to a game. I thought prices for food were reasonable also, they have a value menu with several places throughout the stadium. All in all, we will be back! Royals won!
Joshua S — Google review
I’m on a mission to visit every MLB stadium, and Kauffman was number 12 for me. For being 50+ years old, I was pleasantly surprised by how nice this ballpark is! We went with my son’s baseball team and a group of about 40 people on an extremely hot day (94° at first pitch), but it was still a fantastic experience. Every seat in the stadium is angled perfectly toward the field since it was built specifically for baseball—not a converted football stadium. The famous outfield fountains are truly impressive and something everyone should see in person. The family environment here is outstanding. The Little K area has batting cages, pitching radars, 40-yard dash timers, mini golf, and even a carousel. There’s also a kids’ team store and a concession stand with a fun kids’ meal in a collectible lunch box—perfect for keeping little ones entertained during the game. I also loved the many first-come, first-serve areas to watch from. On a lighter crowd day (around 15,000 fans when we went), it was easy to move around and enjoy different vantage points. Food options were excellent too, with everything from local BBQ to classic ballpark must-haves. Overall, I’d rank Kauffman as one of the top stadiums I’ve visited so far. It’s family-friendly, full of character, and much nicer than I expected given its age. Definitely worth the trip!
Brent J — Google review
Very nice stadium! We are making our way through all 30 MLB Stadiums, and this one has a lot to offer compared to others. Reasonable prices, lots of space to move around and sit and enjoy drinks and/or food, and the fountains make it really unique. The staff were all very friendly as well.

We are trying to visit every MLB stadium. Thisnis our 5th stadium and we were very happy with it. 1st everyone and I mean EVERYONE was the most friendliest people I have met. We saw 2 games here. The 1st was in thr Lexas all you can eat seats and had thr best hot dogs in a park yet. The popcorn was great and buttery. The food options were great. The only negative is the seats are quite tight. Im only 5'9 and my knees were in the seat in front of me. The second game we got upper deck seats and we ate off the value menu. The hot dogs and pretzels were descent price. The stadium is beautiful and both views were great. The fountains are very pretty. If we are ever out that way again we already said we will be stopping by for another game. Oh and bonus was fireworks we didnt even know were happening after the game.
Heather C — Google review
What a beautiful stadium with amazing views! Walking from the parking lot to the entrance, we saw many people tailgating which I didn't expect with baseball games. We had checked the bag policy ahead of time so we were prepared but there was a woman in front of us whose purse was too large for entry. She tried to argue that she was just at Busch Stadium (STL) the night before, but they were firm with their bag policy. We tried the loaded nachos, which were amazing and huge so two of us shared an order. The staff were incredible with our group since we arrived early and needed some guidance to orient ourselves. I love the fountains in the stadium and how they manipulate both the flow and the colors of the water. Great space for a baseball game!
Brianne S — Google review
There's absolutely NO reason to replace this wonderful baseball stadium. The sightlines are good, there are very few seats where your view is obstructed, and the Event Staff is second to none! Park early and tailgate, then bring in any food items in a clear bag, along with sealed water bottles. Guest Services team is especially accommodating. Go Royals!
Jim B — Google review
Home run derby was cool, tix were only like $25 and it was a different vibe of course and the stadium didn't sell a ton of tix, just select seats and it was a fun atmosphere. Fireworks afterward so it was a fun evening. Not all the vendors were open but it was enough to handle the crowd.
Anita S — Google review
This place is pretty much our second home in the summertime. It is what kept our sanity as new parents. We absolutely love Kauffman because of how family friendly it is (park, rides, mini golf, splash pad, mother's room) and there's even a very affordable concession in the kids area that has chicken nuggets and $5 beers. We purchase the cheap nose bleed seats up top and just walk around the stadium with our stroller and the kids. There are so many places available to view the game.

Nestled within the historic Union Station in Kansas City, Science City at Union Station is a vibrant and engaging science center perfect for families. This interactive museum boasts over 120 hands-on exhibits designed to spark curiosity and foster learning among visitors of all ages. Highlights include the DinoLab, where young paleontologists can dig for fossils, and the immersive Arvin Gottlieb Planetarium that takes you on cosmic journeys.
Science City is always a hit with my grandchildren and out of town guests. Maybe adding sone exhibits for kids 12-14 would increase interest. I brought two German families in the last two years and they said it was the highlight of their visit.

Nice STEM based activities for the kids. They had lessons in electricity, magnetism, and physics. Give yourself 3 hours minimum to hit all the exhibits. The outdoor play area is open if there no lightning and no heat index at 105 or more. Checkout the cool water area with cascading buckets and flow control dams that the kids can change. Bring snacks as there are limited places to eat even in union station. One room for improvement: more than a few exhibits were partially out of order. Same with the men’s bathroom. Parking is paid if you are driving and it’s in a parking garage.

This is such a fun place for kids of all ages! The new train section was a hit for my toddler. Such a great addition! My 6 yr old loved the indoor climbing structure and the dinosaur area and my 9 year old loved all of the stem activities. We were there for about 4 hours but I think we definitely could have spent more time there. Weekday afternoons are less busy!

My kids had a ball there. One of the best experiences they've had yet. We didn't get to do everything because it was so much for them to do. Definitely a place I would visit with them again if I come back to Kansas.
Ivory J — Google review
Let me start with a gripe: I take a VERY big issue with their ticket prices. They're advertised as $17/ea so it's deceptive, dishonest, and outright LYING when you get there and they have a sign at the ticket counter "A 10% fee is added to all tickets to help fund blahblahblah". Okay, then the tickets are $18.70 and **not** $17.00. Yes, it's only 10% and yes, I'm sure it must be for a very good cause, but that doesn't excuse the deceit. That said, Science City was *very* fun and had lots of informative displays and exhibits as well as things for the whole family to enjoy. We spent over 4 hours there and only left because we eventually got tired of walking around. And I scored 0.033 seconds on the reflex test.

This place is FILTHY! In all my 35 years of life I’ve never been to a dirtier place. There are layers of dust, dirt, oil, grime, & mildew everywhere! I would be shocked if this museum has been cleaned with more than a broom in years. Not to mention the water in the water feature smells like mold instead of having a slight chlorine scent if treated correctly, which could lead to serious illnesses for the littles who were putting it in their mouths & eyes. We were also so disappointed that over half of the “attractions” or activities we tried were either broken or missing pieces. My child was wholeheartedly disappointed in our visit, & I’m sad we paid $57 for this. If you want to visit a clean children’s museum with working features, make the drive down to the Amazeum in Bentonville. Unfortunately I don’t recommend Science City, and we definitely won’t be back.

I can never say enough good things about this place. The memories I've made with my son in this building are those I'll never ever forget. I love that they rotate new exhibits in often, so every time we go there's something different to see. The place is affordable, clean and neverending. Every time we go, there's something we didn't see or notice the last time. This time we visited, it was the reptile and fish room. They fed a snake while we were there.

The Bingham-Waggoner Estate, located near Independence Square in Missouri, is a historic 19-acre property that offers a glimpse into the past. Originally established in 1827 along the Santa Fe Trail, this estate was once home to George Caleb Bingham and has retained over 90% of its original furnishings. Visitors can explore the well-preserved mansion and its grounds to gain insights into the lifestyle of its affluent 19th-century residents. Situated near attractions like the Harry S.
Went there for a 50th wedding anniversary. Saw my group of girlfriends from elementary and middle school! It's a nice place for small, cozy events.

This beautiful old mansion near downtown Independence Missouri is a wonderful place to visit. Our tour was led by Madelline, who was really one of the most knowledgeable guides ever. The only negative was that the old house was a little hot in the late afternoon when we went. Other than than that we loved it.
Steven H — Google review
I emailed in advance to ask if reservations were necessary, was told it wasn’t. The property is so cool, and there is a state owned trail route preserving wagon trail ruts on the back side of the estate property. Crossing a bridge in a woody area, leads to the trail from the parking lot. Taking a loop back to the lot, we approached the carriage house to start a guided tour of the house. It begins with an informative video explaining the history of the property, previous owners, etc. Our guide explained the tour is about an hour (huge house), and was really easy going and made us feel comfortable and not rushed. I was blown away by the restoration of the painting details in almost every room. Such cool, decorative detailing! And I appreciate the few sections that show what the original paint looks like aged. My favorite detail was the dog scratches on the sleeping porch doors! So neat to experience, it feels like time was frozen and you can immerse yourself in a different time. I regrettably didn’t take any photos other than the hilarious one pictured. If you have any interest in history, architecture, art, you have to give this place a visit.

We had a great time on our tour & the tour guide that we had for our group (we were split into 2 groups) was fantastic! She never made us feel like we were misbehaving (because we were & we're all over the age of 40! Lol!) and she stayed on track, as well as repeated information because some of us were either checking something else out that caught our eye or we were just talking. Kudos to the tour guides & ours MOST ESPECIALLY & although I cannot remember her name, she knows who she is! The house was beautiful & it was so Extremely cool that we could actually sit on the furniture & carefully touch historic items, to learn about the paintings & the history behind them. My personal favorite was the unfinished 3rd floor...wow!! The architecture is just phenomenal! My other favorite room was the kitchen/walk-in chiller room. Such great history. Kinda ironic that my 2 favorite places were for the servants back in the day. This was 1 of 2 things my Aunt Marsha wanted to do on her 70th birthday & thank you to the staff for helping make her day even more special.

What a hidden gem!!! My friend and I had the place all to ourselves with Steve, from the Historical Society. Steve was very informative and went out of his way to share the estate with us. Each room so nicely preserved. The chandeliers with gas and electric options were so cool. 90% of the furniture and items in the house are original to the house. A must see when visiting Independence!!

Bingham-Waggoner Estate complex goes back to 1850's. The home has historical architecture, artifacts and stories that seem to come alive we we took a tour with a wonderful volunteer guide. The estate is maintained by efforts from good samaritans, volunteers and community. We attended a wedding and the ambience with lush green grand old trees, some blooming with flowers, and pleasant scents of outdoors were a treat to the senses. The interior is a little staid, could do better with maintenance and humidity control, all depending on lining up sufficient resources. Thank you for preserving this important landmark.

Very nice historic place. Thoroughly enjoyed our 12 year old tour guide! He knew his stuff, and was very good. Interesting film about the mansion also. So glad we toured this place!

We were traveling and stopped in Independence to spend the night. The last tour of the day had already started when we arrived but they graciously allowed us to join. Our tour guide, Ms. Dana Thomas, was delightful. The house itself is magnificent. Three stories of gorgeous wood, furnishings and art. Perhaps the most remarkable aspect being that 90% of the furnishings and items on display date from about 1900 during the time the original Waggoners owned the home. Not sure I would put the home ahead of the Truman Library and Museum as a place to visit but it is definitely a don't miss for anyone looking for history in Independence.

This museum is home to one of the world's largest collections of miniature items. The collection ranges from antique dolls to colorful marbles, and includes everything from toy boats to intricately detailed miniature portraits.
I enjoyed visiting this museum from the beginning where they have a short video of how the collection was built until there was too much stuff to put it in a museum. From very tiny items like tools, animals, cars, dishes, ro mini (doll) houses very well built with all the interior elements including wall paper and carpets, to big doll houses that can be seen from 4 sides. All at perfect scale. All this just in the 1st floor. The 2nd. floor houses toys from the 60s (maybe 50s). There is a room where you teat your hand on skills to manage to place tiny things into place (won’t tell you what so you go to see yourself).
Irma A — Google review
We visited on a Tuesday. Fascinating collection of miniatures. Be sure to view the intro video to put things in context. Spent nearly 3 hours. Toy collection was grouped by era and type. Miniatures collection a lot more impressive, but toys were very good. Free parking. Very reasonable admission.
Cathy B — Google review
A family friendly place that provides something for all ages. Relive your childhood memories of playing with your favorite toys. Be awed by the craftsmanship put into creating the miniatures. Go on the second Sunday of the month for free admission. Currently hosting a Star Wars toy exhibit, taking me immediately back to being eight years old
Bradley S — Google review
Can't really say enough good things about this awesome place. The love and dedication Barbara Marshall and Mary Harris Francis had for miniatures and toys shows throughout this museum. We spent 2 hours here. A must experience place.
Ilene H — Google review
It was interesting, and in the miniature section, the most common quote said was, "How did they make it that small?" I did like the fact that they offered a magnifying to look at the miniatures with. The toy section was fun and well laid out. We stayed about 2 hours and saw it all. We didn't read all the signs but read most. We did wish the gift shop offered some toy museum branded items.

AN ABSOLUTE BLAST from the Past! The national museum of Toys and miniatures is pure magic. I came for the visiting Star wars toy exhibit (Yes my inner Jedi was thrilled), but I stayed for the jaw dropping collection of nostalgic toys from across the decades. Everywhere I turned I found something that made me smile laugh or say I had that! The miniatures are works of art in their own right so detailed it feels like stepping into tiny worlds. And the toy exhibits are like time traveling through childhood. Whether you're into vintage board games, action figures, dolls, or sci-fi collectibles this place has it all. Highly recommend for families, collectors, and anyone who wants to reconnect with the joy of play. Honestly one of the most delightful museums I've ever visited. May the toy force be with you!
Tiffany T — Google review
We were so impressed by this museum! They really do such a good job of displaying everything and preserving the toys. Right now, they have the original 80s star wars collection on display, which is worth the ticket in and of itself!
Caylee M — Google review
Our Uber driver recommended this place. It was amazing!! Fun for all ages. Enjoy looking at the history of toys, recall what you had as a kid. The displays of miniature work was fascinating and awe inspiring. They had microscopes and magnifying glass to help see the works. Perfect replicas of full size objects. History of how and why projects were done. So much more than I expected to see (not just a doll house). They also had an exhibit of original Star Wars toys and figurines with history and explanations. Big building with room to move around, take your time. Child friendly, not pretentious.

Sights & Landmarks
The Fountain in Mill Creek Park is a popular and picturesque spot in the city center, surrounded by benches for visitors to relax and take photos. The fountain features sculptures that were originally created 50 years before being installed, having been imported from New York over 70 years ago. Cast in France in 1910, the bronze fountain depicts four heroic horsemen representing mighty rivers of the world. While some visitors appreciate its uniqueness and beauty, others have expressed concerns about homeless individuals hanging around the area.
Great place to walk around. I wonderful place enjoy the beautiful fountain and take pictures. It is so relaxing to just sit there in front of the fountain and watch the water as well as the people. Best place to take pictures both in the daytime and at night. I recommend checking out this historic and ironic spot when on the Country Club Plaza!

Beautiful fountain. Easy to find. Not much parking around this park so we couldn't stay to enjoy.
Samantha Z — Google review
In the "City of Fountains" this is our crown jewel. Elaborate and intricately carved fanciful dolphins, horses, cherubs, and assorted figures spout sprays of water at the entrance to the Country Club Plaza. It is maintained well and has a rich history. It is good to see it used and appreciated for the treasure that it is.
J L — Google review
Peaceful, but they need to clean the debris from the fountain, that junk floating around it is a very off-putting experience, forcing me to usually admire this city treasure from afar. Got some great pictures, though!
Tanya D — Google review
I always enjoy seeing this fountain every time I visit, yes it's not the biggest in the world or whatever others complain about but it's unique to KC. My only issue is the homeless that hang around it, takes away from your comfort zone and enjoyment. Seems like more and more homeless are popping up in the plaza area. At night didn't feel too safe had some homeless lady yelling at me trying to get my attention, some drunken kids were running around acting like fools. They should have some patrols in there.
Mark D — Google review
Nice fountain and park. The city colors the water at times and has different colorful lights at different times of the year. Needs a few more benches to sit on though around the fountain. (my opinion) Nice path for walkers/joggers too.

Great place to relax and view the plaza, walk a dog, or to explore with visitors from out of town. Kansas City is the “city of fountains,” and this one is probably the most recognizable or iconic on the plaza. A nice place for families during the day, but probably not as safe after dark.

The Midland Theatre, also known as the Arvest Bank Theatre at the Midland, is a historic concert venue located in downtown Kansas City. Built in 1927, this opulent theater boasts a seating capacity of 3,200 and features French and Italian Baroque architectural styles. The venue has hosted numerous renowned artists such as Chance the Rapper, Halsey, and Kacey Musgraves.
My friend surprised me with tickets to my favoritist artist EVER, Marilyn Manson, which was at the Midland, and I had a phenomenal time! This venue is a super neat place! I didn't get many pictures as I was wanting to be present, in the very surreal moment, but I did share a few... The ONLY thing I didn't like about this place was the price of the flipping drinks!!! Completely absurd, as I spent $64 on two vodka Red Bulls! 😳😱 I did order them each with double shots, one for me & one for my friend, as I didn't plan on drinking more than one, knowing they would be a little pricey (and I didn't wanna lose my spot while getting drinks!) but I did not see that super inflated price coming, AT ALL...! $32 a drink..... Holy cow. But it far from ruined my night as we went on to have THE BEST TIME! Also, getting in was super quick and easy... (FYI-my friend found a way to get into like a super fast line to get in quickly so we could get better spots! I believe he said it was $50 that he spent on it and it was soooo totally worth it! Not sure if they do this at all shows, but if so, I do recommend purchasing one if you want in on the up front action... I believe it is called a quick pass, but could be wrong, but it's a different line from just the regular line and it got us in with a quickness, to get right up front! What a great night!

Incredible venue!!! A Kansas City original about to turn 100 years old. Stunningly beautiful inside. It does have a lot of stairs and the seats are a little small (due to age). Be prepared… we ordered 3 cocktails and a soda and it came to $70. GREAT views! No trouble seeing the stage.

Went to see a concert at the midland. Everything seemed to be going great till the end of the concert when someone passed out, and it took way too long for security to get to her. I wish that it was due to the crowd, but unfortunately, security just wasn't paying attention. Other than that, I honestly enjoyed the midland theater. The seats were good, other than of course other people sitting in our seats and getting upset when trying to sit in the seats we paid for, lol.

I traveled to this venue from out of town to see a comedy show. The venue is beautiful. All of the seating looked unobstructed. Didn't seem to have a bad seat in house. There were no food or snack options.
Gennesa J — Google review
Historic theater in a downtown area, tiered floor seating and 2 balconies and very intricate, historic decor. Was there for a Garbage concert. Very similar to Orphium in Omaha. Midland is starting to show signs of age with like worn out carpet in high traffic areas, cracked paint and a little Dungey in some areas. Overall though it was a pleasing venue for the event I attended.
Steven J — Google review
Beautiful old theatre, seats are fairly cramped, as expected, but the acoustics and ambiance are wonderful! Easy entry and exit, bathroom and beverage lines were very reasonable.
Tyler S — Google review
BIG shout out to the box office staff! After buying tickets to a General Admission concert, I called because I injured my ankle and would not be able to stand for the whole show. They kindly provided a seating option for my party. Regarding the venue, it is a beautiful, historic building with the type of amenities one would expect. I've attended comedy shows and metal concerts. It is my favorite indoor venue in KC for those types of events. The only downside is that it's located in the busy Power & Light district--which can make parking a headache. Fortunately it's a short streetcar or Uber ride away from convenient parking locations.

I had a good time a The Midland seeing the Clipse and Earthgang. Wifey and I sat in the balcony for my first time out. Unrelated, the seats were mad comfy and clean.lol (I wore all white to the show). Security and staff were cool and helpful from my experience. Classy spot too, has a vintage feel but not old if that makes sense. Would for sure see another show there.

Originally built for Colonel Harvey Merrick Vaile, this architectural gem exemplifies Second Empire style with its intricate design and opulent details. With 31 beautifully preserved rooms, visitors can immerse themselves in the craftsmanship of a bygone era.
This place is a gem! Built in the 1800s, the Vaile Mansion has a rich history involving all the makings of a good story: love, nefarious business practices, scandals, and breathtaking architecture/decor. The docents (tour guides) are very knowledgeable and exude the love for the space throughout the duration of the visit. I strongly suggest planning around an hour to fully explore. Some highlights: - chandeliers from the White House - Girl Scouts can get a patch for learning about it! - Christmas decor changes annually so keep visiting - fun facts about 1800s/1900s culture - gift shop on the second level - free parking *Note: There is mention of slavery and discussion around someone taking their own life during this tour. My husband and I did a tour this morning at the mansion. Our tour guide, unfortunately I can’t remember his name, but he was an older gentlemen dressed in period clothing. I remember him saying he attended UCM college where I also went to school. He was the absolute best! He was so knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. He has his own personal stories that were from his childhood that were interesting as well. I highly recommend going to tour this beautiful mansion. It has rich history and the best tour guide!

The 1859 Jail Museum in Independence, Missouri, offers a unique look into the military and civilian prisoners during the Civil War era. The limestone cellblock once housed famous outlaws like Frank James and William Clarke Quantrill. The museum also provides insight into the lives of jailers and deputy marshals who worked to maintain safety in Missouri. Visitors can explore the dark halls of this historic frontier prison and learn about its notorious inmates through informative displays.
This was really cool! The cost was only $6 per adult! Definitely learned a ton about the old jail & the people who occupied it! The jail cells give you this " Green Mile " vibe! It's amazing knowing how many people would fit in one cell! The staff was very friendly & knowledgeable! You're able to take a guided & self guided tour also! A+

Very cool building with an interesting history. Reasonable priced admission and spent about an hour and a half walking around and reading the facts. The single room schoolhouse was also really cool to see and the prison cell with no light was so eerie but important to understand the living conditions back then. The staff member there was super helpful and informative on the history of the area and the jail and talked in detail about the current restorations going on in the museum. We were the only people checking it out at the time and parking was readily available.

So neat to see where Frank James actually stayed, along with other popular inmates of that time period. They had nicely displayed signs so you could read about inmates that were there and get more of a history feel. We did a self guided tour in the jail, but we also chose to do a tour town with the wagon and mules outside the jail. Very nice guy and was very entertaining. Highly recommend paying for the wagon ride city tour.

Worked an event here. Museum side I heard nothing but great things. Event side (Blue House) needs help. Would not recommend having a wedding or party here unless you follow up like the day before and know what you booked and what was expected. Doors were locked, most bathrooms don’t have locks, downstairs has no bathroom doors… I was a vendor here and was surprised they even let the couple have their wedding here as it was not prepped in any way for guest let alone the couple to get ready in. Still had a great day with couple & family but also felt bad for them and hope they got some money back.

Amazing experience! The expert on hand gave us a very thorough tour and was exceptionally knowledgeable!!! I'd go back again to learn more about KS. My son, who is 14yo, also really enjoyed the tour- Which is rare for a teenager! No real hands-on activities or touching of objects- may not be the most entertaining for small children.

A little history about this place. House was built in the 1800s and it amazing to see what they used and how very modern yet vintage it is. It was a nice little tour and if you want to check it out, do so. I had fun exploring and seeing this place. My favorite room is definitely the kitchen. Lots of cool stuff.

Great little informative tour. Not too long and quite educational! The oldest house in Wyandotte County presents its amazing architecture and grandiose.
Madelyn N — Google review
The Grinter House and Apple fest have been much loved by my whole family since I was a kid. I have toured the house and it's beautiful inside and out. The history is super cool too, there was a ferry operated here to get across the Kansas River.
Renee A — Google review
It's amazing. Its low cost and really just a good place to visit.
Beth S — Google review
Went here today and the place was unlocked and there was a woman inside who then claimed that the police was closed and that they were not doing tours. The time said we're going to be open at 1:00 p.m. evidently it is closed. We wasted a whole lot of time coming here. There was even an open sign on the window.

SubTropolis is a massive underground storage facility located within the Bethany Falls limestone mine. Despite its unassuming entrance, the site is an intricate maze of businesses and storage spaces. Navigating through this subterranean complex can be challenging, but the helpful locals and staff are readily available to provide directions and assistance. Truckers visiting SubTropolis are advised to utilize the staging area near the railroad tracks and seek guidance from security guards for efficient access to their desired locations.
Had as much fun as you could possibly have inside of a industrial cave
Greg L — Google review
Well. Here is my review. This places is a very interesting place to visit. It can get tight depending on where you go. Especially when backing up. Be sure to watch your mirrors and take your time. The guard shack is by where all the flags are. That’s where you want to enter.
Amanda S — Google review
I'm there every week.I'll tell you what get in early and slide your tandems. All the way to the front swing wide
James B — Google review
It's not a bad place, but it's SUPER tight inside when you're trying to get maneuvered around with a truck. Bring your best backing skills. Also there's NO phone service once you get inside. On the plus side, it's always a constant comfortable temperature inside, and there's ample parking on the outside, along with a truck stop right across the street.
Susie S — Google review
Place is well organized, parking lot outside you walk up to the guard and ask for directions which is the best way to go about this! Don't even think of trying to go inside by yourself If you're not familiar with this place. I unloaded in a couple of companies located here and it was pretty fast,it is a great experience but be careful. It is a super tight place, lots of docks are blindside parking. Good luck!
Mirko V — Google review
One of a life time to deliver inside this place. Not that much room to back up my big rig into their dock but every one was patient enough to help. Cars drivers were very respectful on giving trucks space to move in there. Thank you.
Daniel G — Google review
Cool concept which is why I gave it an extra star, but my issue is they don't allow photography on the outside. I wasn't even taking pictures of the complex, I was taking pictures of a train and happened to be on their side of the tracks. But a security guard rushed up and treated us like criminals. All for doing a hobby then leaving. It's hard to respect that. Edit your photo policy.
Max D — Google review
Tip for truckers.... there is a staging area right next to railroad tracks across gas station Huge lot right next to it there's a big billboard with the name of the businesses which is inside the cave before you go in call the security guards to find out which is the best way to get to the business what you need... once you loaded ask the locals which is the best way out it maybe the different from the way in...

The Gem Theater, located in the 18th and Vine district of Kansas City, is a historic venue that has been modernized to host live music acts, particularly jazz performances. Originally a movie theater, it now serves as a performing-arts space and is known for its annual jazz-masters concert series. The theater's facade has been restored, and it features state-of-the-art facilities with modern technology and equipment.
Beautiful concerts, comfortable seats, excellent musicians, engaging. Such a lovely way to celebrate the season!
Heather S — Google review
Not a big fan of thespian events, plays or the like. I listen to music but never thought to go to a concert. My wife loves all of those things. So I decided that I would surprise her with a candlelight string quartet even though I had no interest, I figured she would like it. But she didn't like it, she loved it. It was great. I was pleasantly surprised on how great this actually was. The theatre was immensely sized and the music was phenomenal. I will definitely be coming back.
Force B — Google review
First time at the Gem Theater for a Candlelight concert and it is a nice, small venue. Parking is difficult, so you will likely have to park on the street a block or two away, but overall, it was a nice place to see in the KC area!
Jordan H — Google review
Cute, small theater with some amazing history in the heart of the 18th and Vine district. I saw a smaller (but sold out) kpop concert and it was great! Got a little lost trying to find a bathroom and the parking situation is a little dubious. But the theatre is great.
Paige L — Google review
Seriously not a bad seat in the house. Loved this place. No food, cash only basic pop-up bar with the sweetest bartender. Clean bathrooms, ample free parking. Comfortable seats. Would absolutely come here again. Loved our experience.
Tanya K — Google review
This is my 1st time here and it was absolutely wonderful. It was for Charles & Alkeesha Williams Wedding it was so beautifully heartfelt, and after the Wedding reception there was a play called, "For Better or For Worst" and THAT too was a show stopper!!! From 2pm to 10 pm was THE BEST time well spent! CONGRADULATIONS To the new couple, and very well done you two on the play!!!!

Great concert with Avery Sunshine and Will Downing even though it started a bit late. All the talking beforehand kind of shorted is on the music but it was a blast.

Castle
The Kansas City Workhouse was an old, abandoned building in the heart of the city that used to be home to a bunch of inmates. It's now a pretty neat place to visit, with some really cool street art all over it.
Absolutely love the vibe of this place, really makes you feel like you're exploring a long abandoned castle. Only thing to watch out for here are the occasional glass shards. Highly reccomend stopping by if you're in the area.
Jackson M — Google review
It's dangerous. But it's interesting to explore. Lots of homeless trash. I found the Graffiti interesting. I Could only imagine, what these ruins could be turned into. I had to Google what this once was. Will not ruin your own inquiry.
Arcelia Q — Google review
Not much to see here but an abandoned castle in the middle of a mixed residential neighborhood. Originally a workhouse for prisoners serving a jail sentence and built over a century ago, its been left to vandals and is now full of graffiti. I visited at night and positioned my vehicle so the headlights face the front entrance for some lighting. Great place to take pics. Its a different feel when it's just you and the sounds of nature in the forefront and the sound of urban living in the background. It was not fenced off when I visited last night, but reading that homeless and transients have used it as an encampment, I didn't want to step in anything foul while walking on the lot. I enjoyed my night visit and got some great pics that looked kinda spooky.
Monica L — Google review
This is such a neat abandoned castle. The colorful graffiti don’t detract from the beauty but highlights it. For fans of architecture, history or abandoned places definitely worth a stop.
Sarah M — Google review
Great for beginners into Urban Ex. Combines historic architecture with modern street art and culture. Easily accessible from the street, and stones placed as steps to climb through some of the doorways. A great activity that is free and entertaining for youth and young adults
TheMimmik — Google review
This place was really cool! We parked on the street parking area nearby and walked up. We went on a Sunday afternoon just before sundown and the lighting was really pretty. Definitely a spot with photoshoot potential for the right group. After we left I was telling my partner that a night shoot with flash style lighting would probably look really cool. Currently the area is pretty overgrown. I didn’t have too many big issues but my partner was being bit up pretty severely so bring bug spray if you’re susceptible to that. We just stuck to the outside area and headed out but there seemed to be plenty to explore if you’re prepared to do it!
Emily R — Google review
I'm in love with this place. I could seriously write a book about it. A note to those who would like to visit. It's not in the best of areas, and the property has been fenced off, though that doesn't stop everyone. There is a lot of debris and growth, and the structure itself is in continuously deteriorating condition. Covered with considerable amounts of graffiti it is important to understand that this place attracts adventurous spirits for better or... worse. If you visit take necessary precautions to keep yourself safe. The vibe inside is something that can't be put into words, as cheesy as that sounds. I'd just say that at 126 years old (2023) you can feel all the history there. Something about a grand structure left abandoned just hits different. 10/10, One of my favorite places in the entire world.
Realistic R — Google review
Very cool abandoned castle. There are enough missing doors and windows for you to look in. Quick stop but very interesting.

Visiting the sky deck at City Hall is an experience that should not be missed! The tour, which is completely free, offers breathtaking views of the city and requires advance booking through their website. I reserved my spot five days ahead and received a prompt confirmation. Accompanied by a security member, we enjoyed the stunning vistas in peace. It was truly delightful!
What a lovely experience getting a tour of the sky deck of city hall. The weather was lovely and the view was excellent! It is a FREE tour, however you do have to book in advance on the city hall website. I booked 5 days in advance, and she emailed me back right away. We went to the sky deck with a security member and enjoyed the view by ourselves. It was very lovely!!!

Observation deck was great, epic View. I took my daughter. I first heard about it in the winter but I didn't want to see it then I wanted to wait till everything greened up, definitely worth the wait!

Christopher S — Google review
We miss the open viewing of the observation floor, arrived just after it was not available to the public. Will be more careful next time watching the time.
Lisa G — Google review
Great people work here. From the front desk zoning guy to Ms/Mrs.Westfall. I appreciate the guidance and helping me out of a business deal that would have been really bad for me. Thank you
