The medieval bridge castle and fortification, now converted into a walking path, stands majestically overlooking the Seille River in Metz' Quartier Outre-Seille. The imposing edifice features two immense round towers and bastions, dating back to the 13th and 15th centuries.
I walk a long way to come to this beautiful castle. Was well worth it. Both night and day.

Beautiful beautiful beautiful!!! What a nice view from the top and from the bridge behind it. It is a must-go from Metz. (Little tip: there is a lift to go up in the tower, I was so happy when I saw it, it was possible to go up with a stroller)

Porte des Allemands is a beautiful medieval gate in Metz with towers, bridges, and great river views. It’s a peaceful place to walk, take photos, and enjoy the city’s rich history. Free and worth a visit!
Prabu S — Google review
Very cool little fortress! Definitely worth a visit if in Metz.

I visited on a rainy day on Wednesday afternoon at around 1500. It has descriptions explaining the historical significance of the landmark, and stiatcases that allowed you to enter and reach the first floor of the landmark. It also had a space for an exhibition, which was showcasing various building materials across time during my visit. Nevertheless, I wish there were more efforts in presenting the history of the landmark. Overall, it is worth visiting even if time is limited.
Ah J — Google review
It is a historic fortified city gate and bridge castle located in Metz, France. Constructed in stages from the 13th to the 15th century, it features two round towers from the 13th century and two gun bastions added in the 15th century. The gate served as both a defensive structure and a bridge over the Seille River, playing a crucial role in the city's medieval fortifications. It stands today as a significant monument historique, representing Metz's rich architectural heritage. Beautiful and impressive.
Vafa — Google review
A gorgeous spot to visit and take photos. Not busy at all on a Sunday
Priscilla H — Google review
One of the best spots to explore in Metz. Free to enter. Make sure to walk all the way around the gate to get the best views from along the river. The gate seems to showcase various exhibits of modern art over time. Highly recommend for those visiting Metz.

Metz Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of Saint Stephen, is a breathtaking Gothic masterpiece nestled in Metz, France. This architectural gem was constructed over several centuries, from the 13th to the 16th century, showcasing a captivating blend of Romanesque and Gothic styles. Its most striking feature is its vast array of stained glass windows that span an astonishing 6,500 square meters—making it one of the largest collections in any church across France.
One of the most beautiful cathedrals I’ve ever visited. The stained glass windows are incredible, especially the ones by Chagall – they really stand out. The cathedral is huge and full of light, and you can feel the history as soon as you walk in. It’s free to enter, which is great, and it’s right in the centre of Metz so it’s easy to visit while walking around the old town. Definitely worth seeing if you’re in Metz, even just to sit inside for a few minutes and take in the atmosphere.
Kinan R — Google review
One of the most amazing cathedrals in France! When you stand in front of Metz Cathedral, you feel small and full of wonder. The golden stone shines in the sun, and the tall towers seem to touch the sky. Inside, the light is mystical. The stained-glass windows are not only from the Middle Ages but also modern, even by Chagall. They make the walls look alive with colors. It has the highest nave in France (41 meters), higher than Notre-Dame in Paris. It is called the “Lantern of God” because of more than 6,000 m² of stained glass.People say that at sunset, the golden stone creates an atmosphere that feels almost supernatural. This place is not just history. It is an experience. If you visit Metz, you cannot miss it.
Kseniia M — Google review
Walking into Metz Cathedral - if you’re not exactly used to walking into thousand year old cathedrals - will leave you speechless, overwhelmed, and possibly teary eyed. It’s an astonishing edifice and on a sunny day the interior dances and glimmers with light and colour from the 1000s of panes of glass. You also have to appreciate and respect that this building is in active and daily use, so please - please - remain silent as you slowly wander the perimeter to marvel at the wonder of just how this building came to be, and the architectural miracle it is.
Greg M — Google review
We visited the Metz Cathedral with a specific goal — to see the stained glass windows created by Marc Chagall, since Chagall was our compatriot, also from Belarus. The cathedral itself is magnificent, and the stained glass windows are absolutely mesmerizing. The light filtering through the colorful glass creates a magical effect — the patterns and colors evoke feelings that are simply beyond words. We couldn’t imagine anything that could make the experience even better, but while we were there, an organ concert began, and it turned the visit into something truly unforgettable. The combination of the music, the stained glass, and the atmosphere was enchanting. Since it all happened during the Christmas markets and holiday season, it became one of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring experiences we’ve ever had.
Maryna K — Google review
Incredible cathedral in size, artistry, detail, and use of colors! Huge volume of space under immensely high ceilings and arches! Photos and video really don't do it justice.. The audio echoes and booms here. The richness of the murals, paintings, stained glass, and sculptures are mind-blowing! Definitely a must-see! No entrance fee, though parking is not free and space is limited. Public restrooms are across the street and are free, though not very clean; while there are urinals, there are no toilets, just holes in the ground.
Brian B — Google review
It is very beautiful from the outside, but much more beautiful inside! This is one of the tallest, most beautiful and majestic cathedrals I have ever seen. If not the most! Its stained glass windows are simply incomparable. In such a place you feel some elusive magic, especially with the sounds of the organ.
Aliaksei A — Google review
The Metz Cathedral is absolutely stunning. Its Gothic architecture and level of detail make it one of the most beautiful cathedrals in Europe. Inside, the enormous stained-glass windows — some of the largest in the world — create a magical atmosphere with the natural light. Walking through feels like a journey through history, with glasswork ranging from the 13th century to modern pieces by artists like Marc Chagall. The exterior is just as impressive, with intricate sculptures and an imposing presence right in the heart of the city. Take your time to explore every detail, and if possible, join a guided tour to fully appreciate its history and symbolism. Definitely a must-see when visiting Metz.
Alexandre M — Google review
Park nearby and admire one of France’s most stunning Gothic cathedrals, famous for its vast stained-glass windows (some by Marc Chagall). Even a 15-minute stop is worth it. The Gothic church originated in France in the 12th century, more precisely in the Île-de-France region (around Paris). I ranked it the most beautiful in Europe

Place St Louis is a medieval square located in the old center, featuring a long terrace of Renaissance houses with an impressive arcade. The architecture resembles that of Tuscany rather than eastern France, reflecting the prosperity of the city during the Middle Ages. Many buildings were inhabited by early bankers from Lombard in Italy, which explains their design influence.

The Basilica of Saint-Pierre-aux-Nonnains is a simple stone church, one of the oldest in Europe, with an airy sanctuary and gardens. Originally a palaestra for training boxers and wrestlers, it later became part of a spa complex before being converted into a church in the 7th century. The basilica's history includes serving as a military warehouse and barracks until the 1900s.

A bit anticlimactic. The interior seems to have been stripped and normally used as a venue. Not much historical information but worth a look if nearby. Wonderful historic construction.

The Opéra-Théâtre de Metz, built in the mid-18th century, is a stunning example of Tuscany-influenced neo-Classical architecture. Commissioned by Duke de Belle-Isle and designed by architect Jacques Oger, it's considered the oldest functioning opera house in France. Located not far from the Cathedral, this historic venue offers an excellent layout and comfortable seating for enjoying classical opera performances. Additionally, visitors can explore a small colorful garden nearby.
Very nice place in the centre of Metz. There is currently a small colourful and tropical garden to explore. Of course, this makes it even more beautiful when so many flowers are in bloom.

Metz covered market, also known as the Episcopal Palace, is a bustling hub of activity with stalls open from 8am-6pm Monday-Saturday. You can savor a bowl of vegetable or fruit soup at Soupe A Soups or indulge in local meats and cheeses at Chez Mauricette. For a change of pace, visit the market located right in front of the cathedral where you can explore various stalls and even find stores selling artisan coffee roasting equipment.
Locals still shop here so it hasn’t been taken over by tourism. Fresh meats, breads and vegetables all found inside the covered market. Had coffee, quiche and a salad for breakfast. Also bought some sandwiches.

Largest food market I’ve been to in France. At least twice as big as Les Halles Avignon. There is an extensive variety of prepared foods, fresh meats and fish, sandwiches, coffee, small cafes, fruits and vegetables, etc etc. An amazing market just in front of Metz Cathedral.

Good indoor market in the heart of town, next to the cathedral. Great falafel sandwich for 5 Euros on the right side he has samples out but could be the best deal in Metz if you like falafel 🧆. Keep him in business, truly a nice guy.

Located in the heart of Metz, France, Chapelle des Templiers is a stunning example of Romanesque and Gothic architecture. Dating back to the late 1100s and early 1200s, it is the only octagonal chapel in the Lorraine region. The interior boasts ribbed vaulting and colorful frescoes from the early 1300s depicting apostles and saints.
One of the best place to visit but it is close for renovations 🤔 We were very lucky to be able to see inside.amazing

As a fan of History Channel's Curse of Oak Island with all their talk of the Knights Templar, I had to take the opportunity to see one of their chapels in person. The only drawback was it was my last day in Metz, and the Temple didn't open until 1400. So, I could only admire its simplistic beauty from the outside.

Catholic church
Église Saint-Maximin de Metz is a Catholic church with a rich history and stunning architecture. The 12th-century choir, transept, and square tower showcase the Romanesque style. Inside, visitors can admire the exquisite stained glass windows designed by Jean Cocteau in the early 1960s. These modern artistic additions beautifully complement the medieval architecture. The church also offers various services such as Baptism, Communion, and weddings for local residents.
The greatest collection of stained glass windows in the world, dating back from the most renown artists in the middle-ages ( De Münster, de Clinchamp) to contemporary works from the greatest artists like Villon Bissiere and of course, the master of all masters, Marc Chagall. Just try to choose a sunny day and enjoy a festival of colors in the grandiose settings of this beautyfull Cathedral.
Daniel C — Google review
This gem is a Roman Catholic church in Metz, which is known for its unique blend of medieval and modern artistic elements. Originally built in the 12th century, it has undergone several modifications over the centuries. One of its most remarkable features is the set of stained glass windows created by artist Jean Cocteau in the 1960s, which add a contemporary touch to the otherwise Gothic and Baroque architecture.
Vafa — Google review
So so beautiful outside and inside
RAR A — Google review
A medieval church with a beautiful, modern interior, designed entirely by Jean Cocteau. Silence, metaphysical light, pre-Christian myths – something truly unique!
Anka C — Google review
This little parish church houses stained-glass windows by the French polymath Jean Cocteau. Done mostly in shades of purple and red, the windows are a perfect expression of 20th century avant-garde's pantheism and post-colonialism: They're not particularly Christian, despite being executed in the sine qua non of religious art medium and housed in a tiny side-street church. African warrior women and fantastic horses, roses and Pacific-island totem poles are jumbled together with Christian symbols. Way, way better than the famed Chagall windows in the Metz Cathedral... Definitely worth the 15 minute walk from centre-ville.
Michael D — Google review
Amazing stained glass by the poet Cocteau, not so religious, mainly about him and his artistic philosophy. Adds to the beauty and mystery of the old church though.

An extraordinary museum which is literally a walk through time but with all the rooms completely capturing the moment. The Tour du Temple de La Garnison de Metz is a historic landmark in Metz, originally built as a Lutheran church for German soldiers during the city's time under German rule. The tower, standing at nearly 100 meters tall, is the only remaining structure of the once prominent church after it was damaged during World War II. It stands as a symbol of the city's architectural and cultural history. Visitors can easily find the tower while exploring nearby attractions and enjoy taking pictures in its open surroundings.
Beautiful architecture, next to a car park and a lovely garden! We stopped here for a short break and loved the monument!

Interesting tower that’s the only thing left of the original protestant church.
Leonie P — Google review
A huge empty tower (it was a church till the ww2) almost 100m high, awesome to see.
Kast K — Google review
Built when Metz was part of the German empire. It was built in 1881 for German soldiers of Lutheran faith. Metz underwent extensive architectural change to make it look more German and this church was part of the plan. In 1902, Pastor Albert Schweitzer, future Nobel Peace Prize winner, gave an organ concert but the structure got damaged during world war 2. After the war, only the tower left standing as part of the iconic Metz skyline.
Robin I — Google review
Easy to find while walking around to see other places nearby. There is a park with some seats to give your feet some rest for a while. Taking picture is easy as the tower stands in a wide-open space, traffic is not quite busy but always watch your back.

The music (mostly soft movie soundtracks) helps with that too. "I LIKE THIS DRINK. BRING ME ANOTHER!'-Thor

The only downside is the strong musty smell that hits you when you enter, but then goes away. (Original) Non abbiamo mangiato, ma i cocktail erano buoni e l'ambiente simpatico. (Translated by Google) The waiter needs to learn several things: firstly, people don't always read the signs in size 4 font on the door; secondly, he needs to learn how to speak politely to people. I don't think saying "get out of the bar" is a proper way to speak to strangers, especially when they haven't bothered anyone and whose only fault was eating soggy, cold fries from McDonald's 30 minutes earlier. We only found out afterward, but it wasn't allowed, my bad. That doesn't give you the right to speak to customers like that. Yes, because my friends had ordered drinks, and I was planning to have a drink right after we finished. People go to bars to unwind, not to be insulted by a guy who can't pull up his pants properly and is sorting his Yu-Gi-Oh! cards instead of serving customers. I won't be going back to that bar.

Mont-Saint-Quentin in Moselle offers a variety of activities for visitors. You can explore the scenic Moselle wines, visit a Mirabelle plum distillery, or discover the fortified churches of the Republic of Messina. The area is ideal for outdoor activities such as hiking, running, and biking with its cool and shaded paths during summer. The climb to the top is rewarding with magnificent views over Metz. Additionally, there are peaceful spots perfect for meditation away from city noise pollution.
Wonderful hill for hiking, running, biking with a fantastic view of all of Metz.

Once the location of a vast military complex conceived by the French but actually constructed for the most part during Germany's annexation of Alsace-Lorraine after the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71. Mont Saint-Quentin is a wonderful recreational facility of woodland contrasting with open meadow, where you are never far away from the haunting ruins of the nowadays derelict fortifications. Signs warn you of the danger of entering or even getting too close to these old buildings, some of which are also apparently home to colonies of bats, which should be left in peace of course. Not easily accessible by public transport. The best car park to use is probably the one at Col de Lessy which is also not far away from a separate defensive fortification called Fort Plappeville. If you want to explore Mont Saint-Quentin, you can pick up a walking trail from near the Col de Lessy car park, which will take you past the main fortifications and the telecommunications tower before leading you back up around to the road. Takes about an hour. There are no directional signposts or information boards, despite the fact that the site is well frequented by walkers, joggers and MTB enthusiasts. So if you are unfamiliar with the area, Google Maps might be your best bet for finding your way around. Building work is underway at various locations to make the site safe, maybe this work will also include putting up a few signposts.

(Translated by Google) To avoid. This promoter is not serious. Numerous defects. Broken water drain pipe under the tiles, causing moisture to rise into the walls. To resolve this problem, the construction manager, whose skills remain to be proven, suggested that I wait for it to dry and give it a lick of paint. Waterproofing of the terrace of the apartment above mine poorly done, causing water infiltration into my ceilings. Terrace cover promised at the time of purchase, but not realized. Numerous cracks in the walls. The passageways are so poorly designed, because they are exposed to wind and rain, that they start to “mold”. The facade plaster is coming loose in certain places. The slab of the collective box for the cars is completely cracked. I had ordered a bathtub, and to my great surprise no one contacted me to offer me a model. They automatically installed a mini bathtub for me, just big enough to wash a child, and what's more, it's slightly cracked. During the work, we were promised a site visit, which never took place. So I went to the construction site of my apartment alone. Fortunately, because during this "clandestine" visit I noticed that the water supply had not been installed in the planned location, as well as the electrical supply to the kitchen. In fact, the 2 have been reversed. After complaining, the manager replied that the kitchen designer only had to “adapt to the existing situation”. I had to fight to get this big mistake corrected. Furthermore, this developer tried to bill me for 6 spots installed by the kitchen designer, who had already billed me for them the first time. To top it off, the delivery deadline was not respected (2 months late). For a building that is only 6 years old, the damage is impressive. I'll stop here with the most important issues, because there are many more. Word to the wise, hello. (Original) A éviter. A bon entendeur, salut.

(Translated by Google) For information, here is what I published on their FACEBOOK page but which was deleted by them. I purchased an apartment in the town of Amnéville les Thermes from JAUMONT PROMOTION. A very nice project on the brochure, but only on the brochure. First of all, there was the failure to respect the delivery date but in truth, like all manufacturers these days; If it had only been that, there would have been no problem. The latest finishes have all been botched, for many of my neighbors and myself Neighbors find themselves with air and water entering through their windows and winter 2017 will be another winter for them without a window worthy of the name. For my part, the acoustic insulation was poorly done, the balconies were not finished, the deeds signed before a notary were not respected: the accommodation was sold as complying with RT2012 and BBC certified, but after examination of the heating installation by a recognized professional on METZ, the accommodations painfully comply with RT2005, the BBC certificates are still not transmitted, the accommodations were sold with heat pump: no presence of this installation which was paid for. The best part of all this is the boiler room as well as all the hot water and heating pipes: the pipes pass 30 centimeters above the roof and are not insulated!!!! the energy bill is unspeakable. The boiler and especially its equipment were purchased at a discount to avoid too much expense. The acids released by the boiler have been “sent” to the roof for 2 years, which attacks the roof. Despite the fact that the housing was purchased new and the co-ownership is not even 2 years old, we must schedule interventions which should normally be the responsibility of the seller/builder but which will be for our benefit. Our existing Trustee (recognized on METZ) cannot even get feedback on the non-workmanship or poor workmanship of the co-ownership despite all these different letters. In conclusion, I strongly advise you not to simply believe their words and cover yourself as much as possible or even move on….. If you ever want photos of what they actually do, don't hesitate to contact me!!!

The Cathedral of Metz is a stunning display of master craftsmanship, particularly evident in the exquisite stained glass windows by Valentin Bousch. Located at the southern end of the transept, these windows are framed by delicate late Gothic tracery and were commissioned by Canon Otto Savin and created between 1521 and 1527.

At the bottom of the southern right arm of the cathedral's transept, magnificently cut out by fine networks of late Gothic style, the bay serves as a setting for the sumptuous stained glass windows of Valentin Bousch. These stained glass windows were commissioned by Canon Otto Savin and executed from 1521 to 1527. The artist depicts characters in pairs on three levels, creating an architectural and trompe l'oeil frame for each pair of characters. On the first level are housed holy figures dressed in rich ecclesiastical vestments, wearing tiaras and holding crosiers. These are the holy bishops of Metz. They are placed under deep arcades. Above the arcades runs an entablature regularly perforated by a deep circular opening, of the same depth as the arcades and whose interior is polylobed and cut into gear teeth. Between these bays is placed each time a drum of fluted column surrounded by cherubs sitting on flowering branches and standing out against a blue background. Under the second saint from the left, Saint Sigonus is read the year 1527. In the arcade located on the far right and represented a kneeling and praying character, it is Evrard Marlier, nephew of Otto Savin who participated financially in the creation of these stained glass windows. At the intermediate level are placed saints and we can see from left to right, Saint Barbara, Saint Catherine, Saint Mary with the child in her arms, Saint Anne, Saint Madeleine, Saint Helena with a monumental cross placed sideways to indicate the depth of space, Saint Apolline and Saint Marguerite. These saints are again placed in pairs. Their name is written on the architrave in golden letters. Note that these characters are placed so that they seem to be in conversation and animated by an intense life. At the third and final level, the presentation of the characters is still different. Here again appear seven bishops of Metz and on the far right, kneeling and in prayer and represented the sponsor, Canon Otton Savin above whom his name is indicated in gold letters on a black background, in a frame suspended in bias. Under the two lancets on the left, the two bishops face each other and are placed under an architrave, surmounted by vases, on which their names are engraved. Below ground level there are scrolls where two letters O and S stand out from left to right. The following four saints are all grouped between two columns and stand out against a background of red hangings. We notice under the saint on the left the letter O and under that on the right the letter. The two figures on the right are placed in a setting similar to that at the other end and they are turned towards each other. Beneath them we see again the letters O and S. If we raise our gaze again in the direction of the quatrefoils which surmount the last row of Saints, we notice the presence of four Fathers of the Church. In the tracery we see another vintage, that of 1521, indicated in Roman numerals on the left, and Arabic on the right, the date which indicates the start of the work. Finally, dominating the entire composition, the summit rose is treated as a vibrant and brilliant golden star embodying divine light surrounded by cherub heads. I attach photographs that I took to illustrate my remarks. Please put a “like” under the photos to encourage me in my approach. THANKS. To continue our visit to Metz, we can head towards the Cloche d'Or museum, then towards the Ste Ségolène church which is located on the heights of the hill, then towards this old private mansion, the Saint-Livier hotel. nearby, then towards Place Ste Croix... Please put “a like or helpful” to encourage me in my approach. Enjoy your visit. Best regards, Eric Tison. F-57 Metz. Bonne visite. Best regards, Eric Tison. F-57 Metz.

The New Temple in Metz, Alsace and Lorraine is a stunning Protestant place of worship housed in a neo-Romanesque building that was inaugurated in 1904. Inspired by the Rhine cathedrals of Speyer and Worms, this temple showcases a medieval look despite being constructed in the early twentieth century. The dark sandstone construction material contrasts with the local Jaumont limestone of the surrounding buildings.
I did not expect Metz to be this beautiful, and one of the reason was this area with the river and New Temple. No matter what time you visit, daytime or evening, it is always gorgeous here and it seems to be some kind of fairytale setting here. Cannot miss when in Metz!

The Saint Martin Church of Metz is an historic Catholic church located in the Metz-Centre area. The patron saint is Bishop Martin of Tours. The church has a rich history and is an important part of the community. It is a popular place for religious observances and concerts.
This church is one of the oldest parishes of Metz. Built on the old Roman ramparts, it is unusual as it does not have a facade and the south transept is shortened. What is amazing are the stained glass windows. The windows, dating from 1881 are the work of Metz’s Laurent-Charles Maréchal, master glazier and leader of the School of Metz, whose work can be found throughout the city. Definately worth a visit.

✨ A very special place where history and modern art meet. The Romanesque church is beautiful with its old arches and stone walls, but what makes it unique is the exhibitions inside. The mix of medieval architecture and contemporary installations creates a strong emotional feeling — like a bridge between past and future. If you want more than a normal tourist visit, come here. You will not only see history but also feel culture in a new way. A perfect stop for art and history lovers!
Kseniia M — Google review
This beautiful Catholic church in Metz is considered to be one of the oldest church and dedicated to Saint Martin de Tours. Discovered this by accident as I was heading back to the station and noticed the bell tower. Being an old church, it's history traced back to the Gallo-Roman era and remnants of that period is still evident in the church, especially the Gallo-Roman enclosure on the church portal and the "narthex", like a vestibule before the nave. Besides being remarkably spectacular inside, I was intrigued by the "Stations of the Cross" displays all on one wall; the right side of the nave! The nave is actually slightly raised and flanked by rows of columns towards the transept. The liturgical choir is of early sixteenth century flamboyant style and quite elegant. There are some impressive stained-glass windows inside with a beautiful grandstand organ. Highly recommended to visit and admire this beautiful old church as it's right in the center of the "French side" of Metz, about fifteen minutes walk from Metz railway station.

The Église Saint-Eucaire, a charming and small Catholic church, lacks regular attendance from visitors. It remains tranquil and beautiful, providing a serene environment for those who visit. The aesthetic appeal of this magnificent church is undeniable.
The Saint-Eucaire church, begun in the 5th century and withstood the testof time, though the church got repaired and added to throughout the ages. For instance, the beautiful stained glass is from mid 19th century. The church has one of the relics of Saint Blaise brought back by the Crusaders. Since 1552, it has been the seat of the brotherhood of Saint-Blaise. Every year a pilgrimage to Saint Blaise takes place there. Tradition has it that, on every February 3rd, people come to have brioche buns marked reminding them of the saint's martyrdom and obtain healing or protection against sore throats. Saint Blaise has been relied upon as a healer of sore throats ever since he saved a young boy choking on a fishbone. The church itself is very peaceful and contains some murals that are being restored.

Although designed in the 1930s, construction was delayed by WW2. The Église Sainte-Thérèse was eventually inaugurated in 1954. Sadly, the imposing exterior has not aged very well. The interior is very impressive. The stained-glass accentuates the vaulted roof structure and surrounds the interior with shafts of light and colour. Quite remarkable. Furniture and decoration appear mostly in keeping with the building's Art déco origins. A fundraising campaign is underway to pay for essential restoration work.

Nestled in the heart of France, St. Simon St. Jude Church is a captivating historical gem that dates back to 1735. This charming church not only serves as a place of worship but also boasts an active community dedicated to its rich heritage. It was originally part of a fortification project along the scenic Moselle River and stands out for being one of the few Presbyterian churches in predominantly Catholic France.
Built in 1735, this chuech still has an active community. It was part of a building project of a fort along the Moselle. It is a church dedicated to Sain Jude and Saint Simon. Saint Simon created a political and economic ideology known as Saint-Simonianism that claimed that the needs of an industrial class, which he also referred to as the working class, needed to be recognized and fulfilled to have an effective society and an efficient economy. (Translated by Google) The Presbyterian Church in Catholic France is already unusual and interesting. The church dedicated to Saints Simon and Judas (just do not confuse him with Judas Iscariot; the name Judas was one of the most common in those distant times) is even more unusual and interesting. After all, practically nothing is known about the holy apostles Simon and Judas from the canonical Gospels. The evangelists mention them only four times, and even introduce some inconsistency regarding their names. Luke calls Simon a Zealot (Zealot), and Mark and Matthew call him a Canaanite. In fact, both of these words (in Greek and Aramaic) mean the same thing - “zealot”, and most likely indicate the Apostle’s involvement in the Jewish religious-eschatological movement of those times. The situation is even more complicated with Judas: Luke calls him Judas of Jacob (i.e., the brother of James), Mark - Thaddeus (that is, brave, generous), Matthew - Levvi, nicknamed Thaddeus. As Judas (not Iscariot), John also knows him. Most likely, Judas Thaddeus was the brother of the Apostle James the Younger, that is, a relative of Jesus Christ. These saints are approached with a request to resolve the most hopeless situations (it is believed that Jesus himself advised St. Brigid to do this). Perhaps that is why the Church of Saints Simon and Jude literally breathes purity, touching tenderness and modesty. We walked towards it across the Bridge of the Dead on purpose, having seen from afar an unusual, seemingly cut-off Baroque silhouette without a spire. And they didn’t regret it. Its facade in the German Baroque style greatly adorns the Place de France and the green square. The church was built at the hospital - it seems around 1870. Today it stands on an island, in the center of a beautiful, quiet and well-kept area. It's a shame that there is no information about her on the Internet. Opposite is the wonderful park de la Cavalerie above the Moselle. Beauty and peace!

Catholic church
Église Sainte-Lucie de Vallières is a beautiful medieval-style church with a square bell tower and a bright interior. The church is seeking funds to address climate damage by transitioning to LED lighting, improving heating, and insulation. It has been praised for its top priest and choir, making it the most beautiful church in the eyes of many visitors. Despite being visited for unfortunate events, it remains a pretty and luminous place worth visiting.
