I visited the cathedral on a schools trip and it was amazing. The fog on that day made the spire disappear into the clouds which was very cool. The inside was also beautiful, and the large clock was meant to have an animated show happen at 2:00 but it was a little disappointing, with the bell just ringing twice, and that was it. But everything else was spectacular. 👍

Architectural wonders. I really surprised and wondered on this cathedral architecture. It amazing and look very nice. There is no entrance fee. But there is security and he will check your bags. Inside of the cathedral is also great. You will enjoy it. Everything about this cathedral is displayed on the screen inside the cathedral that really valuable. Not too crowded if you have patience you may get nice photos of the cathedral. In side there is clock and its make bell on specific time.
The overall experience is good but was busy. So many people always in the way. The history of it being built was very interesting. It's amazing that structures can remain in the same location basically untouched for such a long time. The clock in the back is a highlight that you don't see in any other churches.

Yesterday, I had the chance to visit Strasbourg Cathedral, and the first thing that struck me was its sheer magnificence. Even from a distance, the cathedral commands attention with its tall spire reaching into the sky, visible from many corners of Strasbourg. Standing right in front of it, I was awestruck by the intricate Gothic architecture — every stone seemed to tell a story of centuries past. The detailed carvings, delicate statues, and the massive rose window all reflect extraordinary craftsmanship and patience. It’s incredible to think that construction began in the 12th century and continued for hundreds of years, with the cathedral even holding the title of the tallest building in the world for a time. Just being there, I felt connected to generations of artisans, worshippers, and visitors who had admired this masterpiece long before me.The area around the cathedral is alive with energy.
There are numerous cafés and souvenir shops, and the smell of freshly brewed coffee wafts gently from nearby terraces, adding warmth to the morning air. St. Thomas Church is located along Rue Martin Luther at Place Saint-Thomas and is the main Lutheran church in Strasbourg. I enjoyed seeing the late 12th to mid 16th-centuries architecture, giving St. Thomas both noticeable Romanesque and Gothic features.
Within there is an organ which was played by Mozart as well as modestly decorated nave, side aisles lined with sarcophagi and tombs dating back to the 12th-century. It is an interesting historic church to view from the outside and to spend a few minutes browsing within.
Calm place to think about life. Very specific altar from stones. Wonderfull church!

The church is open to visitors Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (extended to 6 p.m. in spring and summer), and on Sundays from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. (until 5:30 p.m. in spring and summer).
It is closed in January and the first two weeks of February, and during services. Admission is free.

An old temple where you can hear the organ and the choir singing. It is free to enter, but there is no free parking. Inside you can get a leaflet with detailed information. The few remaining frescoes on the walls are really interesting.
After I was not let into the Cathedral, I checked this church and it was amazing. Interesting historical building with traces of Romanesque and Gothic styles, lots of interesting tombstones, some medieval frescoes, stained glass windows, beautiful light and spiritual atmosphere. The admission is free, but there is a donation box. Well worth visiting!

Old St. Peter's Church is situated at Place Saint-Pierre-le-Vieux. This is a peculiar historic church which is mentioned in records as early as 1130 AD. Having passed over between the Catholics and Protestants over the centuries, it is now a church used by both as a place for worship.
Within this two-in-one church there are important art treasures from the Middle Ages. I particularly enjoyed viewing the Passion of Christ series by artist Heinrich Lutzelmann (1485) in the front of the Catholic section. Other altars and art works and sculptures found around the side aisles were nice for viewing. Worth a look around if passing by during visits to Strasbourg and interested in old churches.
It was in 1130 that his name was mentioned publicly for the first time. Built along one of the city's most important Roman roads, the Strata Superior, the church does in fact contain some remains dating back to the Merovingian period.
The Gothic building, of which some traces remain, was built in 1382. In 1529, the church passed to the Lutheran fold. In 1683, two years after the conquest of Strasbourg, Louis XIV ordered the return of the church's choir to the Catholics and had a wall built at the level of the screen, to limit Protestant worship to the nave. This separation is opened by a door on October 12, 2012. The church has several classified objects:

During my visit to Strasbourg in Autumn 2022 there was a fantastic exhibition going on in a fog filled space adjacent to the church: A cube covered with black fabric, with a myriad of tiny holes let in the light come in as thin beams while a quadraphonic soundtrack enveloped the box. Magnifique 👏

Wonderful church with mix of architectural styles. The frescoes are amazing. A very quiet and serene feeling when walking around. We liked the 'parade of countries' art. Even the pews were decorated a bit differently than most churches. Definitely worth the time.

This church reflects over a millennium of religious and architectural history. Originally a 7th-century Merovingian church, it evolved into a Romanesque structure in the 11th century and later gained Gothic additions between the 13th and 14th centuries. A rood screen is an architectural feature in many medieval churches that separates the nave (where the congregation sits) from the chancel or choir (where the clergy perform the liturgy). Typically made of wood or stone, it often includes a central opening flanked by side passages, and it is crowned with a large crucifix ("rood" comes from the Old English word for cross). These screens were both functional and symbolic, marking the division between the secular and sacred areas of the church.
While most rood screens were removed during the Reformation, Saint-Pierre-le-Jeune in Strasbourg retains a rare example. It spans five arcades and is topped by a 1780 Silbermann organ.

We got there by chance. The most impressive church I have been to! It's very old with rich history. The inside decoration is a remaking by the Germans and shows Byzantine elements. There where printed information in all languages, even Greek!

Inside, it’s calm, spiritual, and full of historical charm. It’s less crowded than the main cathedral, making it a perfect place to slow down and reflect.
Open every day from 10 am to 6 pm – a must-visit for lovers of history, architecture, or anyone seeking a quiet, inspiring moment away from the tourist crowds.
Absolutely gorgeous frescoes dating from the medieval period, repainted in 1900. The 14th century roof screen is also spectacular, with the cloister considered the oldest surviving ones north of the Alps. Unfortunately a service was going on so I couldn’t walk all the way around. Free to enter.

Wonderful Patisserie serving a vast range of sweet and savoury treats. The tea room was a lovely, cosy environment with plenty of seating. Service was welcoming and attentive. All items consumed were delicious!!

This is a nice patisserie and tea room along Rue de l'Outre which has an indoor seating area as well as take-away service. You can view their fine dessert selections in the window before stepping in to make purchase decisions which staff will prepare and package for you. Opening hours are 8.30am to 6.30pm (closed on Sundays and Mondays).
We did take-way from Patisserie Christian recently and quite enjoyed their pistachio and praline roll slices and a chocolate style tart back in our apartment. Everything tasted quite good, worthy or return visits to pick up more of their delicate and nice tasting desserts.
We were captivated by the beautifully decorated storefront in the Christmas theme after visiting the Strasbourg Christmas Market. Inside, the staff were friendly and gave excellent recommendations. We tried the chocolate mousse and hazelnut cake, which paired perfectly with coffee. The flavors were delightful, and the experience made our visit to Strasbourg even more special.
This is very famous, traditional patisserie in Strasbourg. They owner is changed recently but she also respects the tradition of Christian and it is always same as before.

One of the nice pastry shops in town; always fresh pastries in the morning and wide range of drinks. The service can be a bit improved, but overall is a great place to meet friends or do your work meetings while enjoying their pastries and drinks.

Best ice cream in a long time, not only in Strasbourg but beyond. Original flavors and generous scoop that will get you a light but cream and super flavorful ice cream. Hidden corner outside but always busy without having a crazy line. 1 scoop for €2.30 will get you an amazing ice cream, really recommended!

The church building you see today was built in the late 19th-century however the church history dates much further back to the middle of the 13th-century when Dominicans established a convent and church at this location.
Today, what you find is a church with Neo-Byzantine architecture, featuring a fine exterior and facade along with a revival style interior with a rectangular basilica layout.
