The Hôtel Le Lion d'Or and Restaurant La Table du Lion is a genteel hotel with free Wi-Fi in Bayeux, France. It offers bar service and an upscale restaurant. The hotel has outdoor seating and a buffet. Wheelchair access is available, as well as free off-street parking. Alcohol is served at the hotel, and American Express, Mastercard, and Visa are accepted. Wifi is available in the rooms and public areas.
We loved our stay. Reserve parking ahead of time since parking is limited. The dinner is a MUST!!!! Food and service were excellent! Wine pairing…say yes! Breakfast was very nice with a good assortment of fresh food. Beds are super comfortable, rooms are spacious. Walkable neighborhood.

It’s a lovely place the staff is responsive. There is no elevator so if you’re tired or carrying packages, get ready for a climb up narrow and winding stairs. The room was more spacious than our other rooms so a big plus. And the bathroom was also very nice. If you have an early tour you have to rush through breakfast because the restaurant doesn’t open till 7. The location in town is excellent. You can walk to most places easily. I would stay here again.
Marty C — Google review
This is a lovely hotel and the location is great. It is walkable to many restaurants and shops. The staff at check in were very friendly. There are some parking spaces available for guests. The restaurant for dinner was superb. Lots of very innovative takes on dishes and service was top notch. Breakfast at hotel was pretty terrible. Everything was very undercooked and the eggs were truly inedible. There are several places in walking distance that are cheaper and significantly better for breakfast.
Aimee F — Google review
We stayed 2 nights at Le Lion d’Or as we kicked off a 2 week trip through France & Italy. Bayeux was the perfect home base for checking out the D-Day beaches and museums - if you’re looking for a great guided tour, check out Bayeux Shuttle! The hotel itself is gorgeous - very clean with great amenities. Our room and our bed were perfect and very comfortable after traveling/being awake for 30 hours. The breakfast is delicious and the dinner at La Table du Lion was incredible - we are still talking about their desserts! The entire staff was friendly and helpful. Make sure you try out the Calvados which is a specialty drink in the Normandy area and is offered at the bar. The cider is also fantastic. The Bayeux area is beautiful and easily navigable. We would love to come back someday to explore the Normandy area and would absolutely stay again at Le Lion d’Or. Highly recommend this hotel if you’re looking to travel to the Normandy region!

The oldest hotel in Bayieux! What a lovely stay. I will have very fond memories of this place. The food is great here, the bar is so cool. The photos on the wall in the bar are signed portraits of some very well known people. With our tour guide this place worked well.
Patrick R — Google review
Great stay at the Lion d'Or in Bayeux. We had a triple room with a great view. We also had the nicest meal of our whole trip at the restaurant downstairs - it was worth the splurge! Breakfast was also great. Nice location in walking distance to lots of sights and restaurants in Bayeux.
Leslie S — Google review
Restaurant: terrible. Very slow service. Couples came in after us and were served and completed their meals well before us. We were constantly ignored. The wine tasted like smelly socks but they insisted it was good. The veal was overcooked and the sides were not good. My husband left to go to the grocery store while I stayed back to pay the bill. That alone took almost twenty minutes. This restaurant is a waste of time and money and the service is awful. I have never once complained about bad food or service, especially while traveling in a different country, but this experience was bad.
Melissa W — Google review
Whilst the hotel has history, and is in a great location for exploring Bayeux, there were a few frustrating items. The comfort room is very basic and there is no air conditioning. You have to pay even for basic soft drinks and sparkling water and a very small Toblerone in the basic mini 'bar' unless you pay superior rooms. Which are a lot bigger. But not much else being a benefit. Parking. Book in advance! Or you are left with hoping for a (thankfully) free space on the streets, but be prepared for being up to 400-500meters away. Breakfast was very help yourself and OK but nothing compared to some of our smaller hotels visted in other parts or France. No real extra options, some privisions slow to restock, and basic machine coffee. Found the attitudes from many locals in the area very much different to quieter parts of France like Saumur where they couldn't do enough. We did find a lively local restaurant having been scattergunned with 20 odd options at reception which was nothing more useful than doing a Google search really. Barman did make a great french 75 and great other drink options in evening. Handy place to stay, but not sure it's completely worth the money. Didn't try the restaurant.

Villa Lara Hotel is a sophisticated lodging located in the historic center of Bayeux, offering stunning views of the cathedral. The hotel provides a central location, just minutes away from popular attractions such as the Museum of the Bayeux Tapestry and Baron Gerard Museum of Art and History. Guests can enjoy various amenities including a lounge/bar, 24-hour fitness center, terrace, garden, and complimentary wireless internet access.
My daughter and I stayed here for two nights. The experience was exceptional. Everyone there was very friendly and helpful. We ad an issue with the bathtub and the front desk person took care of it herself. The room was clean and spacious. The location is great. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again.
Edward L — Google review
This hotel was absolutely wonderful. We stayed at the Villa Lara portion. The lobby is quaint and homelike and the staff there was always kind and considerate and helpful. They got to know us in just a couple days and made every restaurant reservation for us. Just off the lobby is a small bar that is well stocked and managed by the front desk. Seating there is comfortable. The breakfast is plentiful and excellent. As for the rooms … we could not believe how spacious, comfortable, quiet and pleasant in terms of temperature they were. The beds were also excellent and the bathrooms spacious. We were totally blown away by the quality. To top it all off, the location is perfect. Just a few blocks from the city center, and as a result many restaurants. We never had to walk more than 10 minutes any evening for our dinner reservations. And, even the Bayeux Tapestry is just a few minute walk. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about his hotel in any way. If you are visiting Bayeux, stay here.
Ralph B — Google review
It’s difficult to capture in words just how enchanting this hotel is. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by its beauty and charm. The rooms are spacious and elegantly decorated, with a quiet grace that makes you feel both indulged and at ease. The bathroom, with its luxurious touches, feels like a private retreat—a place to unwind after a day of exploring. The lobby is warm and inviting, a lovely prelude to the rest of the experience. Mornings begin with a delightful breakfast, featuring fresh breads and other treats, enjoyed in a dining room that feels both refined and intimate. But what truly sets this hotel apart is the people. The staff embody the spirit of hospitality—gracious, attentive, and genuinely caring. Their warmth made us feel less like guests and more like cherished friends. For anyone visiting Bayeux, this hotel is more than just a place to stay—it is part of the journey, a sanctuary of comfort and elegance that lingers in your memory long after you leave.

Absolutely LOVED our stay at Villa Lara. Muriel, Julian, & Laura helped make our visit more than just an exceptional hotel, their dedication to outstanding customer service went far beyond the standard for even a 5 star hotel. We will absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone interested in the area. In addition to the impeccable hotel and staff, the location is absolutely amazing and the town of Bayeux is just beyond expectations. Many of the D-Day tour companies depart from around the corner of Villa Lara and it’s just a very short walk into town with countless lovely shops and restaurants and the GORGEOUS Notre Dame de Bayeux. Couldn’t possibly give a higher recommendation for the entire experience. Thank you Murial, Julian, & Laura!!!! Rob & Laura Miller

One of the best hotels i have ever encountered. The staff's friendliness and willingness to help is unparallelled. Everything just works in this modern luxury hotel. To name a few great things, apart from the lovely staff: great showers and bathrooms. Excellent bed. Great charging options. Lovely interior decoration with a personal twist. Location could not be better - get the cathedral view if you can! Safe and easily accessible car park with lots of room. Close to everything. Even the bathroom amenities were top class, by Lalique. I can't think of any improvements, this is romantic and posh but modern hotel perfection.
Jani N — Google review
The obvious choice of hotel if you are in Bayeux. 5 star all the way. The staff is amazing. It is within close drive to the WW II sites. Convenient to the main street with restaurants/etc. They have private parking if you drive. Highly recommend. We stayed at seven separate hotels in Europe this trip and this was by far the best.
Grady C — Google review
An absolutely fabulous hotel - perfect location for touring the Bayeux/Caen area: quiet location, private parking, well appointed and extremely comfortable. Best of all are the staff - the service is amazing and the staff go out of their way to help. Special mentions for James, Julien and Muriel, although everyone we met could not have been friendlier. It isn't cheap, but then it is a 5 star hotel and you get what you pay for. In this case we found it well worth the extra expense. Note, there is no dinner restaurant in the hotel (although they do have a very good breakfast room), although there are plenty of restaurants within a short walk of the hotel in the old town and the staff will happily help you book something. They do however have a small room service menu and we even ate that in the bar one evening. All-in-all, Villa Lara is an excellent hotel and highly recommended.

I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. The location is fantastic. The staff are totally wonderful, helpful and resourceful. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.

Hôtel Belle Normandy is a centrally located upscale hotel in Bayeux, just a short walk from Cathedrale Notre-Dame Bayeux and Baron Gerard Museum of Art and History. The hotel offers amenities such as complimentary wireless internet access, concierge services, and a bar/lounge where guests can enjoy their favorite drinks. Additionally, the hotel provides bicycle rental for recreation.
I have stayed at this hotel on multiple occasions. It is fantastic. The rooms are large, updated and gorgeous with spacious showers. The hotel breakfast is a beautiful mix of French charm and enough sustenance for Americans used to a hearty start of the day. Lastly, the location (with easy secure parking) puts you in easy walking distance of all the fine shopping, dining and sites (tapestry, cathedral etc) Bayeux has to offer. I cannot recommend the Belle Normandy enough.
William ( — Google review
Beautiful hotel within walking distance of the cathedral and the Bayeux Tapestry. The staff is very friendly and attentive. We had a load of laundry done during our stay and they were able to get a stain out of my dad’s jacket that I was sure would be permanent. Finally, the breakfast served each morning was delicious!
M. S — Google review
Beautiful hotel just steps away from the center of Bayeux. The outside is picturesque and the rooms are modern, efficient, and comfortable. Four of us stayed here quite comfortably for two nights. Bathroom was great and large. Living area comfy. We would highly recommend. The team was fantastic, helping us with luggage, sightseeing suggestions, and just being nice to talk with. Our only regret was not being able to stay longer.
Mike C — Google review
Belle Normandy deserves a full 5 stars for an exceptional stay from start to finish. The staff was incredibly helpful and welcoming, even going out of their way to make dinner reservations for us. Our room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. Breakfast each morning was absolutely amazing, with fresh, delicious options that started the day perfectly. Located in the charming town of Bayeux, this hotel is the perfect base to explore the area—highly recommended!
Will P — Google review
Belle Normandy was by far the best hotel experience we've had as American tourists in Europe. You can really tell it is family owned and family managed. The rooms and beds were very comfortable and well maintained. The breakfast spread was so fresh and had many European and American options, and the staff was incredibly courteous and helpful with everything including restaurant recommendations and reservations. Not only is the hotel supremely comfortable, but the location is so ideal we were able to walk to most of our meals, the cathedral, shops, and the Bayeux tapestry with our older parents without issue. We cannot wait to return. Many thanks to Elodie and Cedric for being such gracious hosts, as well as all of the staff.
Annie J — Google review
This place, like everywhere we went in Normandy, was great. Good staff, comfortable rooms. No elevator but it's only two small flights of stairs and the staff will help with your bags. Otherwise I strongly recommend
David G — Google review
In all our years of traveling, the Belle Normandy would rate at the top of the list. Room was spacious, well appointed, and comfortable, the staff was outstanding, the breakfast great, location within walking distance of everything.

Chateau de Bellefontaine is an 18th-century chateau located near the medieval town of Bayeux in Normandy. The property features refined rooms and suites with views of the picturesque countryside and landscaped gardens. Guests can enjoy the charming features of the chateau, including a moat, water feature with swans and ducks, and bicentennial trees.
Really enjoyed our stay at this lovely Château hotel. Lovely big bedroom and bathroom, very clean and comfortable. Great choice for breakfast fresh pastries and local bread with Cheese and cold meats, and jams. Also selection of hot food. Lovely well maintained grounds. Very good location for exploring Bayeux, with it's excellent museums, without the need to drive. 15-25 minutes walk.
Phil S — Google review
A good beautiful location on the outskirts of the downtown of Bayeux. A car is must. The hotel has obviously been around for some time which shows. Our room did not have AC, which was fine for this stay as the weather was not that warm. But it is worth knowing. Breakfast was good as well. The staff had to work really hard, as there was one person tending the bar, the reception and all other upcoming tasks. But it all worked out well. A good place to live if one is driving around the area to visit sights.
Björn J — Google review
The Chateau is a unique place to stay in the Bayeux area. It is not in the City Center but is totally walkable to get to restaurants and the Cathedral. The rooms are larger with plenty of room for suitcases. The room we had only had a bathtub. There was a spray nozzle, but it was a challenge not to get the whole bathroom floor from getting wet. Our friends did have a shower in their room. There is an elevator at the Chateau for getting to the upper floors. The provided breakfast was good with mostly cold items. There were a few warm items: baked beans, bacon and sometimes eggs. The Chateau has an interesting history and was used during the occupation by the Germans.
Scott H — Google review
Wonderful place with spacious rooms and a great breakfast menu. Good starting point for exploring Normandy and the D-Day beaches, with Omaha and Gold beaches, Pointe du Hoc, Longues sur Mer and Mulberry B all within 25 minutes by car.
Mathias R — Google review
What a beautiful hotel! Old world charm mixed with modern comforts. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was so-so but it did the job! Excellent location close to Bayeux for tours to Normandy.
Aria V — Google review
Really enjoyed our stay here! The staff was nice, the grounds were beautiful, and the food was good. You are about a 15 minute walk to the heart of downtown, so it’s convenient, but also secluded. Definitely recommend!
Sawyer N — Google review
The people were so nice and helpful. The grounds peaceful. This is definitely the place to stay.i just can't express how kind they were and I just wish I would have had more time to look around. Very close to trains as well

The Hotel d'Argouges Bayeux is a beautifully restored 18th century townhouse on the outskirts of Bayeux with gardens. The property offers traditional rooms with complimentary Wi-Fi and features 24/7 security. The Cathedral Notre Dame is just a few minutes walk away while the railway station is only 20 minutes walk away.
The staff at this hotel made our honeymoon an enjoyable experience. The hotel was very historic and lacked a few modern amenities, but the service we received was exceptional. The staff was very accommodating with our schedule change as well. The hotel dog (Gloria) was very cute and hospitable as well!
Nathan M — Google review
I stayed at the hotel recently and it was a pleasant stay. The room was comfortable with fluffy towels and a really nice shower, despite being a century-old home. The entire hotel is charming and quaint, with a pleasant dining area and seating in the back garden which allowed us to enjoy the amazing weather amidst beautiful grounds. One word of caution for those who may have mobility issues: you must climb a flight of stairs to the entrance and to all the rooms in the main building. Our room was on the first floor, which was up about 4 sets of stairs if you include the entrance way. We had a lot of bags to carry - it took two trips - and there was no staff to help us, so that was a little bit annoying. However, once we settled in, it was not bad. Free parking is available on the grounds. The hotel is a little bit away from the main city center but it's only a short walk away from the majority of the shopping and dining, and there are also plenty of restaurants nearby. The young ladies on staff we very sweet and helpful, including Gloria, a sweet and attentive hound and the dog of the house!
Bridgette W — Google review
The staff were exceptionally kind and welcoming. Most spoke perfect english as well, so it was easy to check in and ask for advice. Rooms have no AC and are quite old, but the price is affordable and the beds are fine. There's free parking in the back as well, and it probably doesn't fill up except in the busiest season. Also 5 star rating just for the cute hotel dog, Gloria.
James C — Google review
Best service I have ever gotten at a hotel. The staff is all amazing and bilingual. Room is a good size. Location is great. Beds were comfortable. No AC if that's a must, but with the window open at night even during a heatwave it was fine. There are also stairs. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Theresa T — Google review
A fantastic holiday in Bayeux at this hotel. Professional and friendly staff and a wonderful location. Lovely room in the annexe (with a large walk in shower), free parking, hotel was very, very clean (they clearly work hard to maintain this standard), great gardens and interesting architecture in the grounds. Thanks to Frédéric, Ice, Celia and all the staff for a memorable stay, and, of course, to Gloria the Beagle ( meet-and - greet dog) who made it all complete.
Alison I — Google review
Lovely place and great location. Staff were the highlight, kind and friendly. We needed a tire change organized for one of our motorcycles and the administrator communicated with different shops and organized an appointment for us.
Riho S — Google review
Awful Room 13 is terrible. It does not match any of the descriptions or pictures on the website. It is small, has no character and is totally unromantic. The window is opaque and when opened totally obscured by the back of a shed. No water, kettle and damp toilet paper. The television has no signal due to broken aerial. This room is bad enough to ruin a romantic visit to Bayeaux. Make sure you complain immediately as any correspondence will initially be dismissed and subsequently ignored. Don't take a chance by booking at this hotel.
Paul J — Google review
This exquisite hotel served as our jumping off point for the Normandy portion of our 20th Anniversary France trip. The staff is absolutely delightful and accommodating - always greeted with a smile and we were able to keep our bags locked up after we left the hotel for a complete overnight in order to help minimize the luggage we took to the Mont-St-Michel overnight we had. The breakfast is more than adequate and "American" sized. Just a note about the rooms - It was very hot when we stayed and there is no air conditioning. Even though we had the room on the ground floor, we had a hard time cooling things down with the fans - but it wasn't nearly as bad as Mont-St-Michel. The WiFi for some reason didn't reach the room despite being awesome in the lobby a few feet away - to research restaurants, I just had to bop out to the lobby and spend quality time with the beautiful beagle that stays at the hotel. Bathroom was very modern and spacious - the bedroom, while big, definitely fit more the time period of the outside of the hotel. Overall, I loved the place, but my kids griped about the WiFi and creaky floors from the mansion :) . Enjoy your stay!

Domaine De Bayeux is a refined hotel located in the heart of Bayeux, housed in an elegant 18th-century building with a charming tree-lined park. The main building offers comfortable guest rooms while an extension in the orchard provides 11 designer bedrooms with air conditioning and private terraces or balconies. The uniquely decorated rooms feature modern amenities such as LCD TVs and stylish bathrooms. Guests can enjoy complimentary parking and Wi-Fi, along with a lounge and garden on the premises.
We arrived at the train station around 8:30 pm and walked here (about 10 minutes). Check in is by 9 pm or notify them. Our room was towards the rear of the property, separate from the old main building. Receptionist was helpful, friendly, and spoke English. I had emailed earlier requesting separate beds, which was no problem. It was a little difficult in the dark to navigate the walkways and where the motion sensor lights turned on. There are a couple long dark gaps, walk carefully. The room was spacious and clean. The hotel was a 10 minute walk to the center of town. Easy to get around from here and also easy walk to train station. We had a couple full day tours and the meeting place was also within walking distance. The Tapestry Museum, church, WWII Museum, were all walkable. So glad we chose Bayeux and this hotel as our home base for our introduction to the American D-day beaches and memorials and Mont St Michel. Also, within walking distance of 3 Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurants. Hotel lobby offers complimentary coffee. Perfect stay. Merci beaucoup!

Superb!! Magnificent place with historic and modern mix. We stayed in the modern side of the building with elegant calming patio. Interior of room is modern, spacious and the bathroom is huge. Breakfast at main lobby is amazing. Super highly appreciated.

I didn't use any of the services, only stayed one night. But the rooms were beautiful and well appointed. I was a little disappointed, not with anything they did, but that the Utah room was occupied. You see they themed several of their rooms to the D- day invasions. I am from Utah, and it would have be awesome to stay in the Utah room. Tangent aside the rooms were beautiful and within easy walking distance of the city services. Would highly recommend!

We stayed for 3 nights while visiting the beaches, museums, Mont St Michel and the cemetery. I didn’t realize that the room I booked was a suite (booked for the balcony). The suite would comfortably fit a family with children. The room was absolutely gorgeous, bathroom was large and the bed was so comfortable. Our view from the balcony overlooked the beautiful garden. Nelson was so helpful in getting us settled and recommending things to do, in addition to getting us drinks and snacks. I highly recommend this hotel, it was also conveniently located to almost everything we wanted to see and do, both in Bayeaux and the surrounding area.

A great location for visiting all the WWII history. A Staff and Management team fully knowledgeable of the area and history with best recommendations on how to visit the sites on a given timeframe. The grounds were so relaxing and quiet to just reflect after a day of soaking up incredible history. Breakfast - 5-Stars for the food and the Staff. I hope to visit again soon for a cycling vacation.

This is the perfect location for exploring the Normandy area! It is so conveniently located to the city where you can find cafes, restaurants, groceries, visit the Bayeux Tapestry, and much more! We just parked our car and walked everywhere in Bayeaux, but we definitekly used our car to explore the Normandy region. The beds are comfortable, the room is spotless, and we stayed in the Orchard Rooms and loved it! My husband loved their breakfast as well. I would defintely stay here again if we go back to this area of France!

Novotel Bayeux is a relaxed lodging in Bayeux, offering unfussy rooms and a range of amenities. The hotel features a restaurant, bar, outdoor pool, and free Wi-Fi. It's conveniently located within a 5-minute drive of Cathedrale Notre-Dame Bayeux and the Museum of the Battle of Normandy. I stayed at the Novotel Bayeux with a group of colleagues whilst conducting a battlefield tour of the Normandy areas. The rooms were lovely, very nice bedding and great room temperature. Very quiet and peaceful sleeping. Lots of parking. The restaurant was very good and the quality and value of the meals was fantastic. I wish I could have stayed longer to make use of the pool. 15 minute walk into historic Bayeux. A fantastic central location for touring the D Day beaches. I would definitely use this hotel again.

A good sized room. Very attentive and friendly staff. No noise at night because of the double door system to the corridor and excellent double glazing. Comfortable bed. Room cleaned and serviced very well everday. Reasonably priced restaurant, (except the wine). Tasty and inovative menu. Safe and secure free parking. Very well placed for visiting all 5 of the D-Day beaches, towns, monuments, museums and cemeteries. I will return and stay here again.

This is a very comfortable, very welcoming hotel. The rooms are large and airy with the additional seating (sofabed) as well as chair and table. We were disappointed that both the mini-fridge and particularly the in-room safe had been removed. This is a quiet location out of the centre of town but handy for transport into the city or elsewhere. The breakfast was excellent; plenty of hot and cold choices with a selection of fruits and bakery items. We ate in the Janjac restaurant 4 times (1 lunch, 3 evenings). The food was good but a very limited choice with the same menu every session. More choices by rotating the daily menu would be a bonus. Staff were all very friendly and when a huge party was being accomodated in the restaurant for both dinner and the following breakfast the staff coped well with making the other guests feel welcome.

On a recent stay, claire was an angel at the front desk. We were so tired and just wanted to order in some pizza and we dont speak french. She got us a menu and ordered it for us. She was a lifesaver and offered amazing customer service. She deserves a raise.

The Novotel hotel was clean and good for a quick stop. The rooms are quite small and the bathrooms even smaller. The showers don’t have enough height and the toilet room was very hard to enter it was quite small. If you’re staying here. Better to stay in town. Atleast it is picturesque. It’s a very small town too. Rouen is best for the area. Good thing it has air conditioning. But it’s controlled to 19 c. Very strange

We arrived after a long drive, tired and hungry but we were met by a receptionist who seemed to be going through the motions to some degree. It seemed to be a trait the other staff members displayed. After a while it dawned on us that the staff were overworked and the hotel was understaffed. We asked if we would dine at the hotel and were told yes, but to come back in about 30 min. We tried to get a drink at the bar, rang the bell at the bar a couple of times but no-one came. We contemplated going into Bayeaux but had a short walk instead. The dining room was quieter when we were seated but my main course of chicken supreme had a substitute - cut up breaded chicken (formerly frozen) on a bed of mash potato and what tasted like a beef gravy - see photo. I was so hungry I ate a fair amount of it. Staff were nice but seemed overworked and harassed. Maybe one or two extra staff required - one for the bar? We didn't have breakfast, but instead had an early-morning swim (it was a cold day, but a warm pool) and breakfast in Bayeaux.

Le Castel is a refined guesthouse located in the medieval city of Bayeux, offering understated rooms with some featuring balconies. The accommodation is housed in a 1937 Art Deco villa and provides a contemporary baroque-style atmosphere. Situated between the station, the Cathedral, and the Tapestry Museum, it offers an excellent location for exploring the area. Guests can enjoy amenities such as a terrace, garden, complimentary wireless internet access, and a bar/lounge.
Spent three nights in this exceedingly comfortable and friendly Normandy mansion. The host speaks very good English and a fabulous breakfast. The beds were very comfortable a little more on the firm side. They provided you with multiple allergy, free pillows, soft or hard as well as additional blankets so if you think a down comforter is too hot, you can have a thinner but comfortable choice. I prefer to sleep with the fan and they offered several portable fans, which were fabulous. The showers were enclosed with great water pressure. We had a mini fridge in our room. The heated towel rack was always on. We had a large dual sink with plenty of space for toiletries. Our private deck had a magnificent view of the cathedral on which we enjoyed drinking our subpar French beer. The location made walking to fabulous restaurants very convenient. There is free parking diagonally across the street and if that lot is full, there is a gigantic lot almost behind this hotel with more than enough parking for just a small fee. The setting as well as the breakfast in the morning would make this a return stay if I’m ever back in this area. The rooms are more than spacious and we were traveling with our young son, they provided a very comfortable roll away single bed for 25 euros a night.

We were very satisfied with our stay at the Au Loup Apartments. We found the descriptions provided on the website were accurate and the place was very comfortable. The apartment was roomy with a large bathroom and I appreciated the ease of contactless check-in and out. When a lightbulb was mistakenly broken during our stay the owner had it replaced immediately upon notification while we were out to dinner. Thank you for the attentiveness, we would certainly stay again.

This historical home with guest rooms was a close distance (10 min walk) to the train station which was convenient. An easy walk to the beautiful church and also local shops and restaurants. The bed was comfortable, room was very clean, bathroom was large, and breakfast was nice and tasty - whole fruits, yogurt, breads, pastry, cheese, coffee/tea/juice. Bring your own shampoo/conditioner/etc. We would stay here again and we recommend Le Castel guest house.

This hotel is actually two properties, initially we thought the second property were attached but it is quite a hike away when you are splitting a family in to two spaces. Firstly, the "view" from the main hotel is not as it appears in the photos, that view is from the street, there is a large tree and other buildings that block the view. Secondly they are extremely small, the photographer did nice angles. The second property was a disaster. They are apartments which would be nice for a family but they are not safe. Atleast the one we saw. We booked for 3 adults and 1 children in the apartment. We were given an apartment with 2 rooms with 2 double beds. And 1.5 bath. This would have been fine if the second bedroom wasn't in an attic loft with steep stairs and no railing. Not to mention only finished in plywood. If anyone has to wake up at night to use the bathroom it could have been disastrous. We also asked to have the double bed separated as we were informed it could have 4 guests and we noted this, meaning we would need at least 3 beds. The owner said an adult can sleep with a child people do "stranger things". Ultimately it just wasn't worth the risk we found a new hotel and will have our travel insurance handle the rest of the situation. The women checking people in was nice enough so I did feel badly she got stuck in the middle but the owner of the property was very rude and unprofessional. There are several much nicer hotels in the area.

This was such a cute bed and breakfast!!! My family and I stayed here for 2 nights while we were visiting Normandy for D-Day. The hospitality was wonderful and building itself is beautiful. The rooms we are good size and very clean. At breakfast, we were offered yogurt, croissants, and different types of bread with jams, honey, and cheeses. We were offered apple juice, coffee and several teas. I wish we had been able to stay longer here in this picturesque little town!!!

My husband and I loved Le Castel. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well furnished. The host was very gracious and helpful and the breakfast incredible. The location is perfect and even though there is no parking directly at the home the public parking is across the street.

We enjoyed a three day stay here. Rooms are clean and charming, although the bed is a little hard. Great views. The morning breakfast is a sit down around the table with other guest. It is a lot of fun getting to meet everyone and the food is good. Less than 5 min walk from place de quebec(Normandy tour pickups), cathedral, Bayeux Tapestry.

The charming property features cozy rooms, mature gardens, and complimentary Wi-Fi. Guests can enjoy a unique blend of French hospitality and historic ambiance while exploring the rich history and stunning architecture of Bayeux.
We stayed here at the beginning of August for 3 nights. We had the Rose Bonbon room, which was very large and plenty of room for 3 adults. The entire house and grounds are wonderful. We spent one evening in the backyard drinking wine and eating cheese and chocolate we had bought in Bayeux. Pascal was wonderful. He gave us great info on restaurants and things to do. His breakfast each day was great, one of the best breakfasts we had in our 2 weeks in France. Would definitely stay here if and when we return.

We have the pleasure of staying here in June. Beautiful home and backyard. Pascal was amazing and we enjoyed our morning visits at breakfast. Breakfast was always very good. The house is located in the heart of Bayeux so it was close walking to the local sites. Bayeux is perfectly situated to visiting the D-day beaches and cemeteries. We loved strolling through the Farmer’s Market and purchased an amazing custard cooked for hours. Decadent but oh so good. This was our favorite of all the B&B’s we staying in while touring France and Belgium for a month. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful stay at Le Petit Matin. The location in Bayeux is great, easy to reach, all the sights and the city centre in walking distance. The room was spacious, very clean and also tastefully decorated, the whole premises are beautiful and charming. The friendly host, Pascal, gave us many good tips to get around the area, things to see, recommendations about places to eat. The breakfast was such a lovely start into the day. Loved sitting on the big tables and enjoyed both the food and the beautiful ambience.

Our experience of Le Petit Matin can only be described as excellent. From arrival to departure Pascal treated us as family. With advice on places to eat. Travel directions, tips for discounted museum tickets. The breakfasts were delicious . I was introduced to a new cheese I hope to find at home. The room was spacious and the comfortable .On our final day we had to leave early for a ferry and Pascal left us a breakfast bag to take which was greatly appreciated. Overall it contributed to a great holiday.

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights. Our first time here in Bayeux, we came to view the history of the town and the surrounding areas(associated with D-Day landings). Pascal was an excellent host , helping us each morning for locations to visit and to book us into local restaurants- thank you. The breakfasts are wonderful local fayre and his personal touch of additional fresh offers were beyond expectations. Would we come here again? Yes

We had a delightful 4 night stay in Pascal's beautiful Le Petit Matin. He was the perfect host, from his breakfasts which includes homemade pastries, to his willingness to share information about local must see places and restaurants. Our room was roomy, quiet, and clean. A great B&B accommodation in the lovely town of Bayeux

We LOVED our stay at this exceptional establishment. Pascal is an incredibly hospitable and friendly host. We felt as if we were old friends visiting! Our room was beautifully decorated with a gorgeous wardrobe and other pretty antique pieces. There was a ton of natural light and various windows providing a lovely view of the garden and the public square out front. I believe we were in the "Grey Mouse" room. The room was very spacious, the bed extremely comfortable and this was the nicest and largest bathroom we had during our travels in France. We ate breakfast in the kitchen and enjoyed a delicious croissant, a creme caramel, a selection of cheeses, homemade granola and yogurt and a fantastic French yogurt cake with rhubarb that Pascal made from the rhubarb from his garden. We really enjoyed ourselves and chatting with Pascal and his recommendations about various things to do and places to eat. Definitely stay here! You will not be disappointed or want to leave!

Pleasantly surprised by this hotel which was very convenient for cyclists visiting Bayeux and the D-Day landing beaches. The hotel is about 6-7 min from the town centre by bike on mainly flat and mostly traffic-free routes. The location is quiet and the rooms are compact and basic (no lift and access via external balcony) but comfortable with decent shower, air-cond and TV. One of the best features of the hotel was its restaurant. Breakfast buffet is good and plentiful with plenty of choice - hot and cold. We also ate dinner in the restaurant (see later) The reception and chamber start couldn’t have been more helpful.

Good basic hotel near the memorial de Caen. Very clean, comfortable beds and showers, but basic no frills. Surprisingly good food but limited options. It does the job. I would recommend it just know what you are getting.

Stayed here recently as we used it as a base to see Bayeux and the Normandy beaches along with the war graves, etc. The restaurant was very good, the staff were very nice and helpful, the only problem was the room, on arrival there were many flies on the table and windowsills, ok this could be a problem but hey, somethings get missed, when reported the young lady at reception was very embarrassed. Will I stay again? Yes, of course, as everything else was good.
Darren M — Google review
A nice hotel close to the city centre. Not far from the railway station. And a great starting point for D-Day beaches trips and city centre walks. Room was a bit smaller and colder (easy to heat up tho), but clean. We missed a metal spoon and some cups. The view is simply amazing: nature and the Bayeux cathedral. Breakfast was rich (all you can eat) and delicious. Staff was kind and helpful.

Stayed in 2016, just after the Tour de France passed through. Cannot recommend enough. Short walk into town, to the Cathedral, or to see the tapestry - I used this location for my 3 Overlord tours that I went on. The food was also great at the Hotel - I had to compliment the chef after having one of the best burgers, I've ever tasted!

Cheap and basic, steak for€9 but they don't ask how you want it cooked. Service was cheerful but slow. Enormous desserts. This was our rum Baba. The man at the next table had an entire apple pie to himself. The cider was excellent. Go for the cider.

This hotel is situated just outside Bayeux, in the fields near a big roundabout at 800-900 mt from the city centre (it's easy to reach the centre by feet or bike). The hotel looks like an American motel, with the access to every single room from the parking. My room was pretty clean and dimensions were ok but there were two holes in the walls, one of them pretty big in the bathroom. Moreover one pillow had a big grey spot on it. Apart from that in my one night stay I had no problems. Breakfast for 10 euro/person didn't worth the money, me and my girlfriend arrived at nine and couldn't even try eggs, bacon and other stuff 'cause they were finished and not "restocked". The price for the night was the best part of the stay, only 50 euros for both of us!

The Grand Hotel of Luxembourg is a charming 18th-century building turned into a modern hotel in the heart of Bayeux. The comfortable and well-equipped rooms offer views of a pretty courtyard garden, and the on-site restaurant, Les Quatre Saisons, serves traditional French cuisine with a focus on fresh seafood. The hotel's excellent location near the Museum of the Bayeux Tapestry makes it an ideal choice for travelers interested in history.
We loved Bayeux! Wonderful base for a stay in Normandy. The Grand Hotel du Luxembourg was the perfect hotel for my family. The family room was wonderful- spotless, well-appointed, and spacious. All the beds were comfortable. I like that the twin beds were on opposite sides of the large room so that my kids felt like they had their own space. The staff went above and beyond to make sure that we were comfortable. I hurt my knee- and they carried luggage to our room, got me ice, and asked how I was doing- I really appreciated that. The pool area was lovely- and the pool is heated- so we actually spent time in it, despite cool temps outside. I highly recommend this hotel!

Arrived a bit late in the day to find they had charged my credit card already and nothing could be done. This was disappointing as I had spoken to someone on the phone confirming that I could use a different card when I arrived as the card I wanted to use wouldn't work with their online system. The room was spacious, especially the bathroom. We did have ask for the carpet to be vacuumed. The walls were surprisingly thin. I'd recommend earplugs if you are a light sleeper. The hot water was plentiful, even midday. Unfortunately the hot tub was out of order and that was a feature that sold me on the property. Breakfast buffet was pretty good and convenient.

I just left after three relaxing nights here. Lovely accommodating staff, pleasant outdoor pool area with jacuzzi and bar with snacks available round the clock. This isn't top notch, if you want someone waiting at the front desk for you or luxurious extras in your room, pay the premium. But nothing was too much for the team to help me with, when I asked. I would stay again and recommend to others.

We loved our stay and will recommend it to friends. Our party of 4 had a spacious suite on the top floor. The rooms were clean and laid out well. We liked having separate toilet and bath rooms. It was only missing the advertised blow dryer, but I didn’t bother the reception desk to bring me one. I am sure they would have.

This hotel is so perfectly located , within walking distance of the main street and so many restaurants and shops. We never needed a taxi once during our stay. The hotel has a small car park which was perfect for us to park in for a daily rate which was extremely reasonable. The little pool is fabulous, it's small but this doesn't effect the lovely experience as it is plenty deep enough and warm which is a treat. The rooms are small but that didn't bother us . Only change I would make would be if A/c was in rooms. The hotel did provide a fan though which really helped in the warmer nights. The hotel were so accommodating to us during our trip but especially kind to us when we couldn't find a local pub that was showing game that is exclusive to Ireland. The hotel let us set up our own laptop and HD lead to their TV in the bar and allowed us to watch our match on their TV on Sunday evening. Thanks so much , we will be back . We were travelling a family of 2 adults 2 children aged 10 and 12

Lovely spot right in the center of town. Nice rooms, a touch small but ours had big windows over the street. Free weekend parking in a lot on the same block. Wish we'd stayed more nights to enjoy the pool and bar! One star off for rooms because they put 2 of us in an ADA room without letting us know or giving us a choice. Also our rooms were not adjacent which would have been nice.

Our family of 4 had a nice stay here in one of the larger flats. One bedroom had a queen bed and the other had two twins. There is a couch (no sofa bed) and dining area, and a refrigerator and microwave. Lots of space for our family and the bathroom (one room with toilet, another with sink/shower) was roomy. (Our room was on the 4th floor and the elevator only goes to the 3rd so you have do walk a flight of stairs FYI.) The breakfast was decent and the staff were friendly. We also enjoyed the small pool and hot tub. The location is great - short walk to stores, cathedral, tapestry, and night market. There is no AC though they had floor fans in the bedrooms and we opened the windows - a little street noise but not terrible. Overall it was a great stay.

People working there are wonderful. Location is perfect and the swimming pool area is nice. Room is a bit small and during summer time the heat during the day is intense. At night the only way to sleep is with the window open. Bed is also on the small side but manageable. A lovely hotel though and during any other time then summer I would recommend it.

A great little hotel, convenient to the train station and the towns sites. Breakfast is very good with tons of pastry choices along with correctly done scrambled eggs. Hallways are a bit noisy, which is as much an issue with the visitors than anything. Staff is unfailingly helpful and cheerful. You feel the warm welcome

Great location, but very mediocre property. Hotel is located a short walk from town and from the train station, making it a great tourist location. Unfortunately, the hotel is dated, small and in moderate condition. We had a family room, which did have bunk beds for the kids (a nice feature). However, it was on the top floor of the hotel which featured a slanted ceiling, making an already small room feel claustrophobic. The only light source in the room came from a skylight (no real windows). The shower was small with just a handheld shower head. The ceiling in the shower also badly needed to be repainted. Locks on the doors were still physical keys, and very temperamental. This was especially concerning since keys were required on the internal side of the room to lock and unlock. In the states, this would absolutely have been a fire code violation. Overall, a very middling experience.

Liked this hotel a lot for it's location and service. They lose 2 stars for some paint pealing in the bathroom but regain 1 BIG star for having an air conditioner in the room with full working controls which seems to be unusual in the area. Overall if you have a chance to go to Bayeux do it. It's awesome.

The staff have excellent attitude trying to help! Very nice people working here. However the building is very dated. We stay in 103 and the moment we opened the door we can smell the moldy and stuffy air and see the mold on the ceiling growing. I believe this hotel is very busy with people come and go, and you can tell the cleaning and bedding are excellent so it’s not the cleanliness that causes the smell. We opened the window and locked the blinder left it for 6 hours thinking it would help the smell, it wasn’t helping as it came back anyway as we closed the window to sleep. The smell woke me up and gave me a stuffy nose. This mold issue has to be fixed since other reviews from long time ago stated the same problem. Sound proof is not too good neither, I can heard the neighbors were snoring or walking or closing doors. Toilet is very dark, it was a bit smelly like piss and the infrastructure of the room looks old. The mattress is getting old it is sinking in. Hallway is very dark too. Remember to reserve parking, otherwise there is a few free parking nearby the a roundabout. It does the job if it’s for one night. But I am not sure if I will returning! Excellent location too! Too bad the infrastructure isn’t well maintained.

Great location near Notre Dame and Tapestry and many restaurants. As an American used to larger US hotel rooms, mine was rather small with only a roof mounted window (skylight) and sloped ceiling on one side. I didn’t like how these still use an actual key but also you needed to use the key to lock yourself inside the room instead of simply turning a latch ( odd to me). I was with a group and several members complained they didn’t have hot water or intermittent hot water and heard another guest complain about same thing. They were not able to rectify this situation. My hot water was fine but the shower stall was extremely small and the handle and shower head were way too low making showering somewhat difficult. Breakfast was good but mostly French with breads and pastries as expected. They tried to prepare scrambled eggs and bacon but the eggs were very watery every day and the bacon seemed to be boiled. There was a lovely Canadian woman who worked the afternoon front desk and she very helpful. Dining area was tight, too but then again we were a large group (30+). I don’t recall seeing an elevator to the second floor but maybe it was on the other end, but it is an old building .There were only four parking spots on property, our bus parked a block or two away. Neighborhood felt very safe, Bayeux itself is wonderful.

Spent my last 2 nights here in France and was truly disappointed. After a difficult time trying to park the car in the ridiculous space offered we enter a shabby hotel. We paid up front and then went to our tiny room, at this stage I wanted to leave. There was no window in the room other than a velux. The roof sloped making it impossible not to hit you head when getting out of the bed. The breakfast was appalling and in a tiny room which was overcrowded. I was told there would be a healthy selection. This is clearly not the case. Any fresh fruit was completely overripe and therefore not eaten.

The room smells like humity and my allergy skyrocketed when entering it almost let me to an anaphylactic attack. DO not stay here if you have mold/dust/humidity allergy! , paperthin walls I can hear my neighbors watching TV and talking and specially coughing (same allergy probably) at 12pm... I only stayed 2 nights I managed to stay but wouldn't even survive if my room didn't had a window. The service is great but the old property and the allergy and the WiFi upload speed (1-2mb) totally ruins the experience.
Lual D — Google review
The rooms are a nice size but kind of tired. The staff is excellent and so was the location. Getting breakfast was crazy busy in the hotel and too crowded. I suggest a breakfast elsewhere

Château La Chenevière is an elegant 18th-century chateau located in Port-en-Bessin, between the D-Day landing beaches and Bayeux in Normandy. The property offers refined accommodations with a mix of period furniture and modern amenities. Guests can enjoy the upscale restaurant led by Chef Didier Robin and an extensive wine list curated by the onsite sommelier.
So glad we stopped for a night here. The chateau has a rich history and is set in beautiful grounds. Very much a small boutique 5 star hotel. We had a dog friendly room in the main house and we were all well looked after. The Botanist restaurant had excellent quality 1 star Michelin dishes and friendly service. We did not manage to use the pool but it looked lovely! Highly recommend staying here to visit the local war beaches.

A 3-star hotel in a 4-star location. If you've stayed at a Four Seasons, Peninsula or Rosewood, buckle up for a bumpy disappointment. We booked a junior suite. Didn't realize the suite would be under the stairs. It's an old building so all we heard at night was foot traffic, going up and down. Beds were mediocre. Bathroom shower was laughable because even the staff member sent over to help us turn it off couldn't figure it out without multiple attempts at turning knobs. Service was inconsistent and unnecessarily snooty at times -- particularly the bartender or gentleman working the "snack bar," which is what the hotel calls it. He can afford to take down his snoot level a few notches. Pool area was closed the 3 days we were there. Breakfast was boring so we went into Bayeaux and found delightful cafes there instead. Given the ratings, we can only imagine what the alternatives were like. Regardless, we'd recommend another scan before booking here. Or plan to drive to Deauville or Hornfleur.

We stayed here with my sister and brother-in-law May 20 to May 23, 2025. It was an awesome experience. The rooms are very comfortable and well appointed, the grounds are absolutely gorgeous, and the location is superb for touring the WW2 historical sites. There are two restaurants, one a more traditional set-up with a formal feel ( although the head waiter Françoise certainly knows how to lighten the mood) and the other informal place out by the pool with a wonderfully friendly staff and great food. The meals were excellent, including the breakfasts. They have a nice bar and the front desk staff is very welcoming. Highly recommended and wouldn't hesitate to return.

It’s a bit harsh maybe to give overall two stars as the main building is stunning and the garden is nice. Service also nice. But in a five star hotel when you book a suite you expect a nice looking room with a separate seating area and a comfortable shower room…..our suite was in the side building and looked a bit ordinary….nothing bad but just small, and very ordinary (the wardrobe was quite small). Lights in the room quite random….no central lights…every lamp had to be switched on/off individually. The bathroom was quite worse and for me a five star hotel cannot have a suite with a sad bathtub that I had to climb into to take a shower….with just a small shower outlet not easy to manuvre if you did not want to wash your hair. Water power also very poor. Outdoor pool nice - but you have to walk in your robe in front of main entrance. Spa - a joke….it’s a room. They do not have anyone on site….they can call someone and see if they can come to the hotel…. If it was a four star hotel….I wouldn’t have bothered to leave a review but a five star hotel needs to have suites that leave you wanting for nothing.

My husband and I had a beautiful lunch... Cocktails, wine, fixed price lunch (with upcharge for a Very delicious Lobster roll- I highly recommend!!!). But surprisingly, we were charged 5 euro for a free carafe of water. I think that it is against the law, especially since we ordered other drinks. It is not normal...

Stayed for 2 night in Sep. 2025 and i would rate their room 3 starts at the most. It's old and undated. Not clean to say the least. Closet rails dirty. The room had spiders, cobweb in the corners and bugs. Bathroom was almost disgusting: Sink was broken, trash cans were old and dented, tiles are cheap and flore and walls grout needs immediate attention. The hair dryer has a push button like in a motel from 1980's. The extra blanket is worn out, lamps are rusted, wall paint was done so cheap and look at the bed legs....all presented in the attached pics. Through the door light penetrates the room and in the absence of a blocking curtain it interferes with sleep. I delayed my return in the evening just that i will not have to spend time in the room. Re. Their restaurant, it was the most untested dinner. This hotel is a RIP-OFF since it is pricey and prisents itself as a top luxury hotel and charges outrageous rates l. DON'T SAY YOU WERE NOT WARNED.

Loved that the chateau's back yard had a huge fuel depot created by the WWII allies with pipelines from the shore. This fuel depot was important in ending Nazi occupation of France.

Such a beautiful property tucked away but close to all you want to experience in Normandy. Truly exceptional service from every member of the staff. Lovely room that was also incredibly comfortable. Luxury touches enhanced our stay- fresh-baked treats, luxury bed linens and towels, heated bathroom floors. Dining options were outstanding! Gorgeous gardens and well-tended outdoor spaces including a pool. Loved our time at Chateau La Cheneviere.

The Churchill Hotel is a Winston Churchill-themed property located in the heart of Bayeux, just a short walk from Baron Gerard Museum of Art and History and the Museum of the Bayeux Tapestry. The hotel offers traditional rooms, complimentary breakfast, and Wi-Fi access. Guests can enjoy views from the terrace, take advantage of amenities such as a hair salon and free internet access, and receive assistance with tour bookings.
Wonderful location, staff, breakfast and room. Very comfortable and clean. Staff was very helpful in recommending restaurants and making reservations and in making us feel at home. We enjoyed having a glass of wine at the end of each day. Highly recommend Hotel Churchill.

We had a truly memorable stay at Churchill hotel in Bayeux. Check in/check out process was very efficient. The hotel is secure and safe, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good with a wide variety of options to choose from. We especially want to thank Carole for her outstanding customer service and her exceptional hospitality. She was incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful throughout our stay making our travel experience very enjoyable. Carole was always able to recommend places with a great attitude. I highly recommend Churchill hotel with it’s perfect blend of historic charm and prime location and atmosphere!!

Stayed here 3 nights while touring D-Day sites & San St. Michael. Perfect location! So many darling shops & very good restaurants nearby. The hotel was pristine & has a spacious bar area if you want to read or play cards with other travelers. Very helpful staff.

My wife and I should have had a pleasant time at the Churchill Hotel, but she was bitten by bedbugs. We took a photograph of the bugs, but the staff refused to acknowledge it was a problem. They have an anti bedbugs alert system in place, and suggested the bugs came in from outside. We didn’t agree. There are many ways for the bugs to crawl on a bed, and the system seems to only protects the bed legs. We didn’t appreciate that they didn’t even acknowledge the problem or offer any compensation. We had to catch a train and didn’t have any time to argue about it.

Great place to stay. Rooms were adequate, the morning breakfast was very good. Staff was very accommodating - we strolled in late one night and the bartender still took care of us as he was closing for the evening. No issues here and would stay again - great location as well with lots of dining options around.

Nice centrally located hotel in Bayeux. Walking distance to cathedral and Tapestry Museum. The street out front is full of shops and restaurants. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Staff was friendly. I kept bugging the kitchen staff for ice and they were always accommodating.

Nestled in the enchanting medieval town of Bayeux, Hôtel Tardif Noble Guesthouse is a charming retreat that beautifully marries history with modern comfort. This elegant establishment, dating back to the 18th century, was once a mansion set within a lush park originally owned by botanist Moisson de Vaux. Guests can wander through its serene gardens and perhaps catch sight of ancient plant species that have thrived for centuries.
Our family of 4 (2 adults, a teen & a tween) stayed in the Family Apartment. The hotel is unassuming from the street; you enter into a beautiful historic courtyard. Reception / staff are friendly and accommodating (as was the friendly cat-- a hit with the kids). Breakfast was lovely as was the hostess (and oh-- the cappuccino!) . Our room was clean and well appointed with a very functional kitchen. It's within walking distance to the cathedral, Bayeux Tapestry and really lovely streets with shops / restaurants. We all agreed that Hotel Tardif exceeded our expectations and we would be thrilled to stay again. Thank you so much to the staff; you truly are phenomenal.

One of the top 5 hotels I have visited. Definitely the best of this trip to France. I was expecting just another European tourist hotel with a great website. It’s better than it looks in the pics. The perfect little garden to relax in. The perfect rooms, each with their own personality. Exceptionally clean. The location in Bayeux can’t be beat. Finally, the staff was amazing the entire time, all the way down to Leah the cat who kept us company in the garden.

We stayed here at the end of August 2025 for one night. Perfectly located in Bayeux, this hotel was wonderful. It's a beautiful building, with a lovely garden and pool. Our room was very comfortable, with luxe linens and a really nice mattress. The staff was amazing! We had an issue with our rental car. We had to leave it overnight in another city and take the train to Bayeux. The staff had a taxi meet us at the train station. The next day, the owner made several phone calls to the rental company to try to help us resolve the issue. Our broken, inadequate French would have made it impossible if we tried to do that ourselves. Breakfast in the morning was delicious!! Why, oh why, did we only stay here one night?? We will be back.

We stayed here two nights in June as part of our Normandy trip that started in Honfleur and ended in St. Malo with a train to Paris. Bayeux is a wonderful town with much to offer and a great location to explore the nearby WWII sites. The hotel's location is perfect and close to everything you could possibly need and/or want to see. We were warmly greeted and were given an explanation of the property and how everything runs. Our room was cozy and wonderful with access to the outdoor seating area which we enjoyed sitting at before dinner. We did have issues with the towel warmer not working and the bathtub drain not staying down. However, I did not inform the hotel of these issues, so part of that is my fault. They cannot fix what they do not know about. There were also artificial fragrance pods (for lack of a better term) in both the toilet area and bathroom. I personally do not enjoy these and wished they were not present as they are not good for one's health. We enjoyed walking the emacculate grounds and the beautiful flowers and trees. We wish we would have had time to try the heated pool, but we were gone too long during the day touring. Breakfast was lovely and delicious though the croissants were just okay. I also really enjoyed the warm food options - who would have thought I would love green beans for breakfast! They were delicious. There is also a resident cat who we much enjoyed the company of. One suggestion that would really enhance this property (which is hard to do as it's so wonderful to begin with) - there is no available aperitif offered. Having an option of even just a red and white wine available to enjoy by the pool, the outdoor seating, or the indoor salon (if cold/rainy) would be perfect. While this would add a bit of extra work for the desk staff, it would be an exceptional addition and is really the only complaint I could give you. We found ourselves down the road the first night at a local bar for an Aperol spritz before dinner. The next night, we purchased a half bottle of rosé nearby and the hotel graciously provided us with a bucket of ice for it. We enjoyed it on the patio seating outside our room. We would have preferred to spend our money at the hotel rather than elsewhere but we made do the first evening and figured out a way to stay and enjoy the property the next evening. Thank you for such a lovely stay. We hope to return one day when our travels bring us back to the area. Merci!

I’m not sure any of my photos capture what a delightful hotel this is! Bayeaux is a charming town and Hotel Tardif made our stay perfect. The gardens are magical, the service was excellent, the breakfasts were wonderful, and the cleanliness was impeccable. We spend our evenings in the yard listening the birds and chatting. Any time I feel stressed, I will close my eyes and picture myself back in that lovely yard. What a place. ❤️

Clos de Bellefontaine is a beautifully restored mid-19th century mansion located near Bayeux. The B&B offers two spacious and elegant bedrooms named Elegance and Charme, making it an ideal choice for families. Guests can also enjoy the lovely garden and terrace on the property. Conveniently situated close to the town center, this charming heritage spot provides easy access by car from Caen and the East, as well as proximity to the railway station.
Luxury Accommodation set in beautiful Bayeux. Our room is magnificent with a private bathroom. The whole house is decorated with such finesse and quintessentially french. The lounge area is a delight with candies and reading materials. The breakfast is lovingly prepared by Carole and is a delight. The location is perfect and only a 10 minute walk into town.

Wonderful stay at Clos de Bellefontaine. Carole is the perfect hostess providing a lovely breakfast, tea, coffee, cookies, candies and even an apéritif. Especially appreciated our early check in, advice about the area and the email prior to our arrival with restaurant reservation recommendations because we saw many people turned away who did not have a reservation. Only regret is that we could not stay longer.

We had the pleasure of staying with Carole and Jerome in their wonderful house a few weeks ago. The whole experience is one of relaxed pleasure. The room was great and the breakfasts even better. We would not hesitate to recommend and hope to stay there again.

We stayed for three nights. Very nice room with bathroom. The breakfast room was nicely decorated. And the table layout out and food were outstanding. The yard was beautiful place to listen to the birds. And has gated private parking. Quick easy walk to the center of town and all of the sites. Our host was very pleasant and helpful.

Our stay at Clos de Bellefontaine was wonderful and memorable. The location was convenient, the property was beautiful, the house was clean, comfortable and welcoming. The bedroom, bathroom and common area furnishings were all first class. The homemade breakfast could not have been better. Even though Carole had important family obligations to handle during our stay, she never missed a beat in providing top quality hospitality and service. She cheerfully accommodated a change in our plans necessitated by a rail strike, and was very accessible for communication before and during our stay. Carole provided recommendations for restaurants and for car rental before we arrived, and extensive and helpful information for every possible site and museum you might wish to visit. By the time our visit was over, we felt more like friends or even family than just clients. Don and Joanne Welsh, Kennett Square, PA USA

We stayed here on our honeymoon. The room was very quaint and romantic, at the top of a winding stair case. The location was perfect, as it was very quiet, but right outside of town. We visited the tapestry (far more impressive than expected), WW2 beaches, and the beautiful cathedral. Best of all, though, was our host, Carole, and the amazing breakfasts we had there to top off our trip. Carole could not have been a better host.
Charles R — Google review
This is a beautifully decorated and charming house, located within a very short distance of town-centre attractions, such as the Tapestry Museum and Cathedral. It stands in an oasis-like and amazingly quiet garden. Carole provides a great breakfast, with a wide variety of jams and other goodies, mostly home-made. We couldn't recommend Clos de Bellefontaine more highly.
MICHAELH — Google review
Superb stay. Clos de Bellefontaine is a lovely house in a great part of the town, close enough to the centre to be a gentle stroll, but also easy to access by car from Caen and the East. It's also close to the railway station. First class breakfast including fresh raspberries and cherries from the garden. Carole is an excellent host with a wide knowledge of what the town and surroundings have to offer. Off street parking and a lovely garden. We look forward to visiting again.
