Waterfalls
Lesmurdie Falls National Park, located in Mundy Regional Park just 30 minutes from Perth's CBD, is a top destination for nature enthusiasts. It boasts a stunning waterfall, scenic lookouts with panoramic views of Perth, and an abundance of wildflowers during the spring season. The park offers five hiking trails ranging from 0.5 to 3 kilometers in length, catering to various skill levels.
What a lovely area to visit for an easy to moderate hike! We came here in the month of April and the weather was fantastic. Not too hot and not too cold - clear blue skies with very fresh air. This area is a little busier than the rest during the middle of the day but isn’t too crowded. We did the Lesmurdie Brook Loop and the great thing with this path is it can connect to other areas - this gives a good variety of hikes for duration and difficulty!
Jayjaytruviews — Google review
Lesmurdie Falls is a great spot for a quick nature escape. The walk to the falls is easy and relaxing.perfect for all ages. The waterfall itself is beautiful, especially after rain. It’s peaceful, the air feels fresh, and there’s plenty of space to enjoy a picnic or take photos.
Sham M — Google review
Stunning! Worth the drive. Enjoyable path, views, park. Well maintained and cared for. Keep children close as there are steep hills, slippery trails, and sharp inclines near the paths. We suggest getting there early in the morning. 6-9am at least. Less people and easier parking.
Steph B — Google review
If you want some time out the house and feel like a house this is the place to go. Doing the full loop you may need some level of fitness and the track is unstable in some sections so situational awareness is required. Amazing fews I didn’t see any wildlife but the waterfall is just amazing. Adequately signposted when you trek and there are no toilets.
Clinton H — Google review
This morning I had the most refreshing start to the day at Lesmurdie Falls. Arriving at dawn meant I had the trails almost to myself, with nothing but the sound of rushing water and birdsong in the air. The cool breeze, golden sunrise over the Perth Hills, and the view of the city waking up below made it the perfect moment of peace. Hiking here at first light really is one of the best things you can do—nature feels alive, and so do you
Arifin S — Google review
Very nice waterfalls only 20-25 minutes from Perth city. Chill place for family picnic or dating. It’s good for hiking as well. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes and bring the drinks water.
Monruedee T — Google review
This walk is particularly recommended in winter and spring when the rains swell Lesmurdie Brook which tumbles over the Darling Range Escarpment. A list of walk trails below are available from here of varying degrees of difficulty, Including: The Falls Trail. 640m return, Class 2, allow 45 min. The Shoulder Trail. 1.5km return, Class 3, allow 1hr. Lesmurdie Brook Loop. 1.5km loop, Class 2, allow 1 hr. The Foot of the Falls Trail. 2km return, Class 3, allow 1hr.

Beautiful location to go for a walk. There are several trails and at least two different car parks. The view of the waterfall is gorgeous and there's also a wonderful vista of Perth. Sometimes there's a portable coffee stand/snack bar which can be well earned treat after a nice hike. Suitable for more adventurous dogs who don't mind uneven and step terrain.

Bold Park, located just 5 minutes from the CBD in City Beach, is a sprawling urban wilderness offering over 15km of walking trails and 10 different lookouts with stunning city and coastal views. The park spans over 436 hectares and is home to more than 1,000 identified species of flora and fauna. With its diverse wildlife including bats, possums, kookaburras, and kingfishers, it provides a unique nature experience within the city.
A hike in a forest in the middle of the city... that's priceless We've been on Zamia trail, but I totally recommend visiting the pine forest and both lookout points especially on sunset. I've seen a lot of people running up and down so I guess that's another activity that my suits you.
Radu A — Google review
I personally went to Bold Park because it's getting into nature right in the city. No need to drive out into the hills during the week, this area is beautiful, with very well kept native vegetation, short trails and a longer one. There's the fields which are used for local sports, etc. Just a huge beautiful area, that Perth is lucky as a newer city, areas of land have been protected for this use.
Sarah P — Google review
Lovely hiking park in the inner city. We did the Zamia trail, which was a great 7 km trail from the car park and has a few up n downs. We saw plenty of birds, wildflowers and some Quenda. Such a worthwhile experience
RML — Google review
Great walks, easy hikes. Bold Park is the grand sister park to Perry Lakes Reserve. Only separated by Perry Lakes Drive, both have easy accessibility to each other. Bold park is a series of walking trails around hills and valleys, at the bottom of the near the car parks on Perry Lakes Drive, there is access to several toilets near playgrounds (look for the buildings near playground), and picnic areas within the reserve. Within Bold Park itself, there are several benches and lookouts. Many areas of the park feature a spectacular and impressive view of the Perth CBD in the distance, as well as the ocean on the opposite side. A few areas with views are accessible from other entrances and car parks. Dogs are meant to be kept on leashes at all times and it is wise to stay on the path. At every intersection, there is clear path signage which makes the journey easy to meander along and enjoy at your own pace. This park is definitely a hidden gem if you’re not a local. Highly recommend walking in winter and into the spring season as everything is beautifully green and refreshing.
Steph B — Google review
After the rain life returns to the bush, and this trail is an absolute representation of this. The trees are healthy, the grass green and lush, and the wildlife dense. As usual the trails are well maintained with excellent signage and magnificent views of the city and ocean.
Darryl H — Google review
Bold Park has nice scenic walking trails like the Zamia Trail and views from Reabold Hill, it’s perfect for hikers, nature lovers, and dog walkers. A great spot to enjoy native flora, birdlife, and sunsets close to the city.
Dave H — Google review
I usually go to Kings Park when I’m looking for sunset, this place might be my new go-to sunset place. The place offers stunning sunset view. However, the parking areas can be quite crowded.

The Bibbulmun Track, a renowned 1000-kilometer trail in Western Australia's South West, spans from Kalamunda in the Perth Hills to Albany. While completing the entire track can take 6-8 weeks, many opt for shorter sections. The path is well-marked and offers stunning scenery, including picturesque views at Golden View and a beautiful dam. It's suitable for family outings and day walks with some challenging hilly sections that reward with breathtaking vistas.
This is an amazing 980km track. I did the section from the wind farm to Albany which is about 15km. It is easy going to start with but has some climbing too. There are a few rest stops along the way but no potable water so take plenty. The views are amazing.
G M — Google review
Had a lovely trek here.⛰️❤️
Angel T — Google review
Great walk, nice and easy with a few difficult hilly sections that leads to amazing views over the dam. This is definitely a walk I would do again!!!!

Amazing track! Beautiful scenery and the path is well signed for each individual path. We did the 9.2km track with the kids (they did whinge the whole way lol) but had a nice picnic at Golden View. Definitely worth the look!

Kitty’s Gorge Walk Trail is a 14km loop in Serpentine National Park, starting from the historic town of Jarrahdale. The trail follows the Serpentine River and Gooralong Brook, offering views of granite outcrops and waterfalls. It's recommended to have a good level of fitness due to steep and uneven sections.
Very nice bushwalk. Plenty of wild flowers along the track. Quiet and relaxing atmosphere. We started at Jarrahdale cemetery and end up in serpentine waterfall with a nice refreshing jump in the water before heading back. Well marked and fairly easy. I would recommend a fly net as it’s full of flies.
Gabriele S — Google review
The parking is free and has ample parking space, It’s densely packed with trees and it gives you that’s freshness we took the short loop which was 2kms as it was raining but the view was amazing and pleasant
Mohammed A — Google review
This is one of my favourite trails in the Perth hills. Go in late winter for the falls, flowers, and wild life!
Brian H — Google review
One of my favourite hikes. Very diverse terrain. Rocky and can be muddy days after rain. Very hot in summer so ple ty if water required.
Lorry R — Google review
A lovely walk, narrow pathway but very clear. Few incline moments but nothing too extreme. We went about 9am and was starting to get warm by the time we were done (currently early November) we walked about 2 hours, there is lots of parking and there are toilets available in the cemetery across the road (super clean). Will go again
Stacey H — Google review
Reasonable trail quite over grown its more like 8.2kms each way now the trail has changed at the end
Isaac — Google review
Absolutely loved it! 16 kms, level 4. It took us about 4 hours... You can start at Kitty's Gorge or at the Serpentine Falls Park (make your way up). Very limited parking here and no toilets/tables/resting area.
FRANCIELLE R — Google review
Kitty’s Gorge Walk Trail, located in Serpentine National Park, Western Australia, is a stunning hiking route known for its beautiful mix of rugged bushland, waterfalls, and scenic valley views. Stretching about 14 kilometers return between Jarrahdale and Serpentine Falls, the trail offers a moderate challenge with well-marked paths, gentle inclines, and plenty of opportunities to spot native wildlife and wildflowers in spring. Hikers often praise its peaceful atmosphere, the sound of flowing water along Gooralong Brook, and the rewarding views at Serpentine Falls. Ellis Brook Valley Reserve, located just a short drive from Perth's CBD, offers stunning views of the city and valley, as well as a picturesque waterfall cascading down rocky terrain. The area is also home to the Old Barrington Quarry with its distinctive blue-green water. With over 500 species of wildflowers, it's recognized as the richest wildflower location in the Perth Metropolitan Area.
We came here for a hike and it was a very refreshing experience! We did the Blue Wren Ramble Trail into the Barrington Quarry Loop. The two combined formed one trail which took us 1 hour and 50 minutes for about 6 kilometres and 250 metres in elevation gain. Parking nearby was easy and it wasn’t crowded at all. We got here around 9 o’clock in April and the weather was perfect. The views are beautiful and the difficulty of the hike was moderately hard.
Jayjaytruviews — Google review
Stunning views in the trails here. The trail is very nice and steep. We went twice. First time without any planning and just starting hiking somewhere at a random point. Turned out it was not the main trail. Nevertheless we had fun and enjoyed the views. We even saw a couple of Kangaroos. We came back the next day and did the 30 - 40 min loop trail which is supposed to be have a waterfall at its peak except that it was dry. With the recent heavy rains, there might be a waterfall. Plenty of parking available. There are picnic tables. There is a public toilet but no running water and it smells bad. Overall a very good hiking trail with stunning views. We will be back to do it again to see some falls.
M.A. K — Google review
This reserve is absolutely stunning! There are multiple trails to choose from, with different levels of difficulty. It’s highly recommended to explore during spring, when the variety of wildflowers is truly astonishing. We visited at the end of August, and this place really stole our hearts! For more photos and videos follow: biancaa.felicia on Instagram.
Calancea B — Google review
Absolutely spectacular. The falls are not accessible ♿ due to uneven terrain, but if you're able bodied, this is a real treat. The car parks, toilets and some walkways are more accessible and are still very serene. Would highly recommend if you're looking for a local way to get back to nature. Also a birdwatcher or photographer's delight with wildflowers and birds aplenty, and the informational boards are detailed with interesting things to look out for.
Teagan — Google review
A short but nice hiking circuit, taking about 30 minutes. There are other options too. The fall is dry during summer and autumn. Spring is the best time to visit. Many ants and spiders.
M — Google review
A lovely area to walk that isn't too far from the suburbs. It would be nice to see the pathway on the red trail (described as being accessible for wheelchair users) to be resealed as the surface is very uneven and inconsistent.
Heather B — Google review
Spring is the perfect time of year as the waterfall is flowing and the wildflowers are in full bloom! Dog friendly and offers a nice view of the city from the top of the falls!
Belle S — Google review
When the waterfall is flowing it is great to see and the hike is an easy one. Kids enjoyed it

Whistlepipe Gully Trailhead in Forrestfield is a beloved dog-friendly hiking spot in Perth. The trail, located at the base of the Perth Hills, offers picturesque views of rapids, colorful wildflowers, and even glimpses of the Perth CBD. This scenic walk through Mundy Regional Park features a waterfall and old ruins, making it an ideal destination for nature enthusiasts.
Went there today 16th Aug 25. The water was flowing really well. The only gripe I have is all of the doggy bags that were left laying around. Of course on a day like today, parking is limited. Other than that it was a beautiful day for a enjoyable walk with my son.
Naomi M — Google review
Good walk to start the winter hills walks. There was water flowing in the creek it was very lush. No difficult hills and not too long. Perfect for the first walk of the season. It's also dog friendly so bring the mutt and enjoy. Around the middle don't wander down the fire track and stick to the creek. At the top turn right and walk down the other side for an easy ascent with good views of the city, some nice rocks
Richard B — Google review
Great trail for families 3.5km loop with lots of views of streams and flowers/bush. Some nice views back over city and Perth. Some rocky areas but generally easy enough for kids. We did this start of spring in October and weather was nice.
Juvi A — Google review
Fantastic hike that is dog friendly! It was quite busy when we got there, and the paths are quite narrow, so take it easy and patience goes a long way. But this has been our favourite dog friendly walk in Perth to date! Will definitely be back again.
Sarah M — Google review
(Sept 30th) Just the most beautiful walk first thing in the morning. The flowers are out, plenty of flowing water and absolutely perfect weather for it. Can be a bit rocky in parts on the way up but generally pretty easy with the downward side much better. Make the most of this trail by doing it before the hot weather kicks in and make sure you do it early as it can get really busy after 9am! Happy trails!
W J — Google review
Dog friendly, just make sure you have a bag to pick up after your dog. There is car park at starting point from Lewis road, Forrestfield. Some narrow walking paths but we crossed ppl without issues. Mild uphill if you start from Lewis Rd but early access to beautiful views as well. Water stream was flowing when we visited after rains on 11th Jul 2025.
Tanveer A — Google review
A beautiful pet friendly trial walk at moderate difficulty. The best times to visit is between late April and early November because the river does dry up in summer.

Noble Falls, located near Gidgegannup, offers a picturesque 3.6km walk trail along Wooroloo Brook. The trail is an easygoing option for nature enthusiasts and families, providing opportunities to spot wildflowers in spring and lively waterfalls in winter. The falls are fed by the waters of Wooroloo Brook, cascading over low rock terraces and large granite rocks after winter rain.
Beautiful walk with stunning views. Nice place to take the dogs, even better that they can roam off lead.
Sheralee A — Google review
We make a habit of visiting the lovely Noble Falls in the wet season. Mostly followed by a trail walk in that area. This time we just wanted to check the water levels and will come back another time to follow the walk trail. Due to the visit being at a weekday, it was very quiet.
Willfred “ — Google review
We went up to the Noble Falls Dog trail for the very first time and our dog absolutely loved it. She was fascinated by the fast running clear water and the grassy fields. It was the perfect time of year. One of the best features was that people who had larger or more reactive dogs had kept them on the lead.
Jen C — Google review
This is a great hike for the whole family. We tackled it with a pram. There where a couple of tricky spots but nothing to difficult. Had an amazing morning. The toilets and playground are fantastic
Luke R — Google review
Awesome. The walk trails are not too hard, around 45 minutes. Best during the spring. There are enough shelters, picnic areas, and barbecue facilities. The toilets were really maintained well. Enough parking facilities available. The tavern is close by for food. Plenty of dog walks and playgrounds for kids
Prasanna E — Google review
Dog friendly hike! We took less than an hour to do the longer route, and we were by no means walking quickly. Some parts are on the road, so be mindful of that if you are walking with young children.

Rocky Pool is a natural river pool surrounded by rocks, making it a popular spot for swimming. It can be accessed via a rugged bush walk that extends from Joondalup up to Yanchep National Park. The trail is well-maintained and free to the public, but lacks facilities such as restrooms and shelters. Plans for a car park off the Burns Beach Road access are in place due to the high number of visitors.
Great spot for a nice trek. The trek was challenging enough to be enjoyable as a family trek (with 3 kids). We went in summer and the pool was dry at the time. Looking forward to visiting again in the cooler months.
Aksheet R — Google review
It was an amazing experience especially in monsoon and winter. Water flow was mesmerising. We enjoyed like hell and it took 1.5 hour to reach at the pool as its very rocky and challenging.
Bhrugi D — Google review
I work FIFO & I have been doing a few hikes on my RR. It was school holidays when I did this hike. I think it would be better if it wasn’t school holidays if you are a single walker. First month of spring. I don’t have great cardio & found this quite easy. It is very rocky so not for anyone who has a wonky ankle. The nature is incredible.
Sally W — Google review
We camping here, no sign of restriction. Good for stargazing since surrounding is the bush, no artificial light. We come back after 1 week, the water follow is not strong as before. Maybe the stream will gone soon

Love this walk, no dogs but pram ish friendly, not too far for little legs and just a lovely bit of a bush. The first time I walked here in Spring the pool and waterfall were perfection - today there was one puddle, so even though lesmurdie falls and whistlepipe gully are flowing fairly well atm considering the lack of rain, this is a different situation/area - photo of the main “pool” today for reference :)

John Forrest National Park, located in Glen Forrest, Western Australia, is a picturesque forested area with walking trails, wildlife, and waterfalls. The park offers the popular Eagle View Walk Trail which provides stunning valley views and impressive waterfalls. Visitors can also enjoy the John Forrest Tavern for a meal and encounter native birds and kangaroos in the courtyard. While some find the trail markers confusing at times, it remains an essential day walk in Western Australia due to its scenic beauty and proximity to Perth.
Really well maintained National Park with a range of great walking trails, views of the City and Valley, Hovea Falls and some historical sites like the Swan View Tunnel. Great for all ages with a playground and picnic area. The Ranger was really friendly and helpful too. I can't wait to come back for the wild flowers.

A refreshing hiking experience, especially for those who appreciate well-maintained trails. Many pathways, particularly around popular areas like the picnic grounds and leading to National Park Falls, are commendably compacted. This makes for easy walking, even after rain, and allows for a smooth, enjoyable stride without constantly watching your footing for loose rocks or uneven ground.

Love this National Park. Went today 23rd Aug 25 and it was very busy, due to the waterfall flowing. Saw some wildflowers that are also out atm, they will be in full bloom soon. It was a lovely adventurous day out for myself and my son.

Beautiful hiking grounds especially when the river is full and spring is in full swing. I regularly go to do the wildflower trail with my partner 5km normally 30 - 35 max. we also saw the cutest gum-nut fairies on the way up, unfortunately they are now gone! Very sad, as they looked very well made and environmentally friendly. Such a shame.

Chasing waterfalls and forest trails at John Forrest National Park 🌳 Fresh air, forest paths, and endless views. Eagle View Trail is one of the best and longest hikes in WA, the views worth every step. There are trails that are more kids friendly, but if you are up for the challenge, go for the Eagle View Trail. It says 5 hours in the guideboard, depending on individual body fitness, it varies between 3 to 5 hours to comlplete the trail. Cost is $17 per car

What a treasure—so close to the city, yet it feels a world away. John Forrest National Park is bursting with life right now. Wild orchids are blooming along the trails, and the diversity of flora is simply breathtaking. The granite boulders and bushland offer a kind of rugged serenity that’s hard to come by. Nature lovers, photographers, and botanists alike will find themselves utterly spoiled. We wandered for hours, spotting native orchids, soaking in expansive valley views, and marvelling at the interplay of rock and wildflower. No formal playgrounds, but Mother Nature provides her own—giant rocks, winding trails, and shaded nooks perfect for kids to explore. Didn’t see any restrooms on our walk, so plan ahead—but honestly, the sheer beauty of the place more than makes up for it. One of Perth’s most precious wild escapes.

Just a 30-minute drive from Perth, John Forrest National Park offers a serene escape into Western Australia's natural beauty. As the state's first national park, established in 1900, it boasts a rich tapestry of history and nature. Wander through trails lined with towering jarrah and marri trees, and discover seasonal waterfalls like Hovea Falls cascading over granite outcrops. The historic Swan View Tunnel, a relic from 1895, adds a touch of intrigue to your journey. Whether you're seeking a leisurely stroll or a challenging hike, the park's diverse trails cater to all adventurers. Keep an eye out for native wildlife, including kangaroos and black cockatoos, as you immerse yourself in this tranquil haven.

Eagle’s View Walk is a beloved 15km trail in John Forrest National Park, offering stunning valley views and close proximity to waterfalls and gullies. The trail features a mix of forest sections, with the highlight being the panoramic views of Perth CBD from the hilltop lookout. The walk follows Jane Brook, showcasing waterfalls and rapids, while the surrounding Jarrah and Wandoo forest blooms with wildflowers from early winter to late spring.
A beautiful spot brought my client here today, we had a lovely picnic lunch and saw a kangaroo, plenty of birds and a turtle. Had a walk around and will definitely be back again. Clean BBQs and toilets, plenty of parking.

We opted for the shorter Little Eagle View Walk ( just follow the Black Triangle signs) and also excluding the last part which is part of the Wild flower walk trail (which we have already completed last year), bringing the total of our walk to just under 7Km. It is a moderate walk with a reasonable elevation at some parts of the trail. The rewards of reaching the Eagle View lookout are worth the effort, what a great views! Also don't expect any water in the brooks, little streams and waterfalls because of the season. Still in my eyes, a hike trail very worthwhile at this time of the year

I completed the long Eagle View Walk today. The walk itself wasn’t so difficult (took me just over 3hrs to complete). It is mostly signposted well, but some parts it’s hard to follow - especially point D, once you cross the small stream turn RIGHT, not left (as I did) as this takes you towards the road and off the track. Overall a decent walk with nice views👌🏻.
Joe W — Google review
I went there in September (spring) and use Little Eagle walk trail only. The walk were mostly flat, well managed and quite easy for me. So many wild flower, water, and birds at the moment. The view from the Eagle's view was amazing! Will go there again this Spring!

If you’re an avid hiker like us, you’re going to be disappointed with this one. Not much to see at all and the views at the top are meh. No shade most of the way. Also prepare to get confused/lost several times as the signs are absolutely abysmal, right from thr start it sends you the wrong way. Wouldn’t recommend unless you really want a hike to do!

Really well maintained track and park with lots of great views of the valley and the City. Can't wait to come back for the wild flowers.

Great walk, path and facilities are well maintained. We did the full Eagle View Trail (16KM Loop) as well as part of the Railway Reserve Heritage Trail to see the Swan View Tunnel. The hike was 21K in total and took us 4 hours. The Eagle View Trail has great views of the city. The path is well kept; clearly sign posted and easy to follow throughout. A really nice hike in beautiful scenery.

I enjoyed the track, there were some great sights, a nice view of the city, rivers, waterfalls, the facilities near the start are in good condition, the track signs (arrows) were slightly misleading at one or two intersections, but the path was in good condition

Kings Park and Botanic Garden in Perth is one of the most beautiful and relaxing places to visit in Western Australia. Spanning over 400 hectares, it combines stunning natural bushland, landscaped gardens, and breathtaking views of the city and Swan River. From the moment you arrive, the park feels peaceful and welcoming, making it the perfect spot to unwind, explore, and connect with nature. The Botanic Garden is especially impressive, showcasing an incredible variety of native Australian plants. Walking through the gardens, you not only enjoy vibrant colors and unique plant life but also learn about Western Australia’s diverse flora. The wildflowers in spring are absolutely spectacular and attract visitors from all over the world. For families, the park is ideal, with plenty of open spaces for picnics, playgrounds for children, and shaded areas to relax. One of the highlights is the elevated Lotterywest Federation Walkway, which takes you through the treetops and offers stunning views of the Swan River and Perth skyline. The park also features beautiful memorials, statues, and cultural sites that add a sense of history and reflection to the visit. What makes Kings Park special is that it has something for everyone—nature lovers, families, fitness enthusiasts, and those simply seeking a quiet moment with scenic views. Whether you go for a morning walk, a family outing, or to enjoy the sunset over the city, it always feels refreshing and memorable. Kings Park and Botanic Garden is truly a jewel of Perth and a must-see destination.
Pravin R — Google review
Kings Park and Botanic Garden is a vast park in Perth with an adjoining botanical garden. I visited Perth mainly to see the wildflowers in spring, which are famous here. During my three days in Perth, I came to Kings Park all three days. Although the weather wasn’t great for the first two days, the final day was sunny and bright, and I was able to see many plants shining beautifully in the sunlight. The park is very large, and walking around the entire area requires some stamina, but the Botanic Garden section is a comfortable size to explore on foot. I realized that many of the “wildflowers” here are actually well-maintained and cultivated under the management of the garden — not truly wild in the sense of untouched nature. It was a bit unexpected, but I appreciated the care and effort put into preserving and showcasing so many native plants in one place. Since the park sits on a hill, the view of the city is also beautiful. It’s a relaxing place for both tourists and locals alike. You can easily reach Kings Park by taking the free Perth BLUE CAT bus, which is very convenient for visitors since the regular bus system requires a transport card or exact cash.

This place is a blessing in Perth. So close to the city and extremely accessible. Would be a great day out for a picnic or a nice stroll. Plenty of parking or take a free public transport from the city. Enjoy the native flora and fauna while you have your picnic or social catch up in the park or one of the restaurants.

We walked around the park for 4 hours and still didn't cover half of it. The look outs, tree top walk, the gardens, the walks are all amazing. Perth really has outdone itself and this place is definitely a gift to the locals and visitors.
Kylie R — Google review
We visited just as the spring wildflowers had arrived into bloom. Various flowers across the botanical area of the park with plenty of colour even if we did have to dodge the odd rain shower. Make time to walk the war memorial and flame, plus the glass elevated walkway. Our fave flower was the Kangaroo Paw, something we had never seen before. The park is easy to get to, just take the free Blue CAT bus from within the city centre.

A must-visit when in Perth! The panoramic views of the city skyline and the Swan River from Kings Park are absolutely breathtaking, especially at sunset. It's such a peaceful oasis right in the heart of the city, perfect for a leisurely stroll or a picnic on the well-maintained lawns. The State War Memorial area is very poignant and adds to the park's rich history. You can easily spend hours here just soaking in the beautiful atmosphere and scenery. A true gem of Perth. Don't miss the treetop walk!"

Kings Park is immaculate and the views over the city are amazing! The beautiful gardens are filled with WA native flowers and the ANZAC memorial is a must see. There is also a memorial for the Bali bombings in 2002 and 2005. We enjoyed some lunch at the Cafe, a little expensive, but it was OK.

August/ September is a great time of the year to do this walk as the water was flowing and alot of the native trees were flowering. I recommend doing the hike clockwise. It's a steady incline looking out over the Walyunga NP followed by a rapid decline overlooking the Avon River and you finish the walk along the river. The views were gorgeous the whole way around.

Lake Monger, located in Glendalough near Perth, is a popular spot for outdoor activities. The 3.5 km trail around the 110-hectare lake offers picturesque views of the city skyline and is perfect for walking, cycling, and jogging. Families can enjoy the new playground area while furry friends have open spaces to run around. The area is also great for birdwatching with swans often spotted on the lake.

Mohammed A — Google review
Oh, how I love Lake Monger. I’ve been coming here for years. Located in Leederville, it’s a fantastic spot for a walk or a run. It’s also nice if you just want to sit and watch the world go by. With city views, plenty of trees and open space, there’s peace and tranquility in spades. There’s also a coffee and food van called ‘What the Flip!’ – closer to the Powis Street side - which does thing like fresh coffee and juices, ice cream, pizza, burgers and a whole lot of other stuff too. I’ve had the coffee and it’s good. They have tables and chairs you can sit on too. Otherwise, you can always take your coffee on your walk. The lake is a great spot for families, couples and singles alike. There’s acres of grass to sit and chill on, which is perfect for picnics. Plus, there’s a dual use path around the lake for cyclists, walkers and runners. There’s also about three water fountains scattered around the lake, which also cater to dogs. Sometimes – between these water stations and the dog treats and water bowls at cafes – I think the dogs have done a good job of upping their social status! Oh, and there’s plenty of parking too, which is really good. I generally park on the Powis Street side, as it’s really convenient. But there’s also parking on Lake Monger Drive - on the opposite side of the lake to Powis Street. Kids will also be well entertained, with an assortment of play equipment at various points around the lake, including a relatively newly built set that even includes flying foxes. It’s very big and looks really fun! A bit more modern that the ‘80s equipment I grew up on. You know, the slides that got hot and burnt you on the way down! And there was none of these surfaces with give in them! Just old school bitumen, maybe some grass underneath if you were lucky! Exercise enthusiasts are well looked after too, with free exercise equipment including an elliptical, bars for tricep dips and a sit ups table available – you know, the ones you hook your feet on. And there’s a half basketball court for sports enthusiasts. There’s also a few BBQs around for anyone who fancies cooking up a storm on one of those glorious days Perth puts on. There’s also display boards at different points around the lake that talk about the local wildlife, like the Southwest Snake-necked Turtle (basically a long necked turtle). The local council also has signs up about what to do if you come across injured wildlife, which is great. As an animal lover, I really like it when animal welfare is prioritised. The lake is abundant with bird life, whether it’s ducks, cockatoos, pelicans, magpies, mudlarks or willy wag tails. It’s enough to make any ornithologist or photographer happy. I even saw a shag sunning itself on the grass. It’s a great life for some! And it wouldn’t be Perth without bin chickens would it? I happened across a couple part way through my walk. Some things never change. I timed my visit well, as I stumbled across a pelican doing yoga! As a keen yogi myself, I was very impressed to see this pelican doing ‘warrior 3’ pose! Check it out in the photos. I never thought I’d see a yogi pelican - but it just goes to show you never know what you’re going to come across in life. I once saw a long neck turtle on the bank of the lake but before I could get a photo, he was back in the lake like greased lightning! That said, I was able to snap a shot of a turtle’s beady eyes through the bush – see if you can spot it among my photos 😉 There’s also a footbridge that goes over the freeway, which is super convenient, especially if you’re on a bike or have kids or pets with you. I make it down to Lake Monger a couple of times a week. I’d recommend it to anyone. Time in nature is always well spent. If you want to walk off your day, Lake Monger is the place to do it. Now that summer is almost upon us, it’s even better.

A hidden gem less than 30 mins from the city. The secret is to visit after rainy season when the river is really flowing. This place has stunning views. Plenty of parking available although it is all on mud. The end road bit is also not sealed and can be very narrow at a few points. There were literally hundreds of cars and people when we visited on a sunny winter Saturday in August. It is a beautiful place for a picnic or for just strolling around while enjoying nature. Bells Rapids in Perth is a stunning natural spot where the Swan River cascades over rocky outcrops, creating a picturesque setting that’s especially popular during winter when the water flow is strong. It’s a favorite for picnics, bushwalks, and enjoying sweeping views of the river and surrounding hills, with trails that suit both casual walkers and more adventurous hikers. The area is also well-known as a prime viewing point for the annual Avon Descent white-water race, making it both a peaceful retreat and a lively event space depending on the season. Bells Rapids, located in Brigadoon just outside Perth, is a stunning natural spot where the Swan River flows over dramatic boulders, creating picturesque rapids and peaceful pools. It’s a popular destination for nature lovers, offering scenic walking trails, picnic areas, and breathtaking views of the surrounding hills—especially beautiful during wildflower season. The suspension bridge adds a touch of adventure, and during winter, the rapids are at their most impressive. Whether you’re up for a leisurely walk, a photo session, or simply enjoying the sound of rushing water, Bells Rapids is a perfect escape from the city.

Good water reservoir with well-paved, maintained, and marked walking and biking trails. The area is huge with lots of birds, plants, resting benches, viewpoints, outdoor picnic spots, and waterway ponds. It's peaceful and relaxing to go for morning and evening walks. We can also take our pets for walking. Children love the lake as they get see fishes, swans, pelicans, night heroines, and other beautiful birds. The open space with good grass is good to sit down, relax, and chit-chat. However, there is no single public toilet. You need to bring your water as there is no drinking water.

A beautiful place. Took the medium hike. Took us two hours. It was scenic, quiet, and spectacular. Buy tickets in advance, it’s super cheap. Large parking lot. No phone signal so download whatever you need prior to arrival

This is a beautiful area and worth the hikes, we did the 12km and we took is slow as we wanted to enjoy the scenery. It took us 4 hours and 15 minutes. The steps make it difficult but there are regular seats and places to stop to enjoy nature.

We chose a beautiful day to walk Quenda trail in Paruna. Lots of steps, so not suitable for elderly or unfit. Lots of streams, brooks and water. Early blossoms of wild flowers. Breath taking lookouts. Definitely worth a visit for nature lovers.

I had the best time of my life. Although we couldn’t get in as it was already booked out and we didn’t realise we had to pay beforehand until we got there. However, that didn’t stop us from going for our flower walk/ trekking. It was so much fun and felt at home. The peaceful nature and fresh water, the morning dew and peaceful breeze, just the perfect atmosphere. Highly recommend this place. Core memory created 💙 15.08.25

As a part of my Sperm Donation Australia Tour I came here for a hike I did the largest trail the Numbat trail 13.99km and 4 hours and 33 minutes later I completed, so many great views along the way one of the nicest hikes in Perth. I reccommend buying your tickets a few days inadvance to avoid missing out.

We did the Numbat trail yesterday in 3hrs and 20mins. Both keen hikers (most weekends) but were unaware of the sheer quantity of stairs before going. We love a long bush walk, fine with mountain terrain and a good gruelling hill but holy moly the stairs! We spent most of the time looking down (again, the stairs) and missed a lot of the stunning scenery but we saw some wildlife when we stopped for snacks. Killer calves/lower back today…..just a heads up, we found this pretty challenging and have enjoyed other trails over this.

So peaceful out here. Walked the Quenda trail and it has some sections where there is a fair bit of stairs. Our dodgy knees were screaming for mercy at the section just before the monument. You will be best served by some frequent breaks in that section. On hindsight, we should've brought our walking sticks along. If you are young and sprightly though, doubt this would give you cause for concern.

Beautiful place for a hike! Make sure you get a permit first and take a screenshot of the email with your entrance code. There is not mobile service out here and if you don’t do these things, you may find yourself having driven a long way for zero access!

What a beautiful spot. I only had a short amount of time here, but it would be well worth spending time walking along this picturesque river and bushland. The footbridge across the river is beautiful, especially at sunset! There is a lovely park area with benches and gazebos. A Perth gem!

Beautiful nature, lots of BBQ and picnic area, there is a playground. Saw a few people fishing but not sure if there is fish. Nice and quiet in the bush land, had a lovely walk, you can see many birdies :)

Canning River Regional Park is an awesome place for families and kids. It’s perfect for jogging, cycling, or enjoying a BBQ by the river. The park has its own cafe, a BMX track, and plenty of open space for picnics or outdoor fun. There’s also a toy train ride for both kids and adults, but tickets need to be pre-booked in advance as it’s usually quite popular. A great spot to relax, explore nature, and spend a fun day outdoors.

Beautiful location on the Canning River. Canninton Kent St Weir has one of the best Cafes in Perth. Coffee, tea, amazing meals ,cakes and cookies served by friendly staff

An absolute delight to visit. This area has been really well developed by the local council to celebrate the wonderful natural beauty that the Canning River has to offer. It's combination of quite dirt tracks that preserve well the natural state of the environment, to beautiful paved walks that weave and meander through waterways down to cafes, and indeed past well kept lawns and modern thought-out playgrounds, makes this a wonderful walk for people of all ages to enjoy. I hope it encourages other families to spend time together in a way that's inclusive of all the generations, like it did for mine.

Hiked through Kittys Gorge, just stunning scenery as far as the eye can see. Great place for a picnic by a waterfall or stream.

If you need a day trip away this is the place to go is family friendly. Walking and hiking trails for those capable allow an hour up to 5hours depending which one you do. The park has shaded areas, bbqs and new toilet facilities. Entry fees are reasonable for car bike and motorcycles. You can swim but all care needs to be taken. Leave nothing but foot prints and you can see wildlife late in the afternoon.

Fast trail for enjoying waterfall pool. 30 min trail to climb up to see fron top
Dayatt S — Google review
We came here in 2013. The entry fee for a car then was $12/-. It’s now $17 in 2024. Nothing much has changed. Water flow from the falls was only a sputter. One of the two trails was blocked, the Kitty trail? Not many signages along the way and some parts of the trail are not clear. Don’t walk this trail as you can’t loop back to the start point as the route is blocked. You have to head back to where you come from on the same route. I don’t see why there is a need to pay for entry fee and for that matter to increase the entry fee when much of Perth Hills with equally good views are free.
David W — Google review
Long walk in very stiff & dangerous walk trials, u should consider this before your visit. The lookout wasn't worth all the risk & effort to go up! The pool area is small but waterfall is beautiful. Parking is expensive if you visit by your own as of $13 for only 1 person, however they may need the fees to take care of the place as it is huge.
D H — Google review
Kitty's Gorge located right there at Serpentine National Park. Very beautiful trail, easy to complete in 5 hours about 16 km round trip that's just about 9-10 miles. It's an adventurous trail, I would go back any day for another walk. The trail is clearly marked, and full of lush vegetation.
Yanna Z — Google review
Located to the east of Serpentine just off the South Western Highway Serpentine National Park is easily accessed. There are a range of facilities, BBQs, picnic tables and a heap of car parks. An entry fee is charged or access is free using a National Park's pass. Kangaroos are often sighted on the lawn areas and throughout the park. Being a National Park no dogs or pets are allowed. The actual falls and pool are easily accessed by foot from the car park on a well maintained footpath. During the warmer months the pool at the base of the falls is a popular swimming spot. The best time to see the falls flowing is during the winter months and early spring. After prolonged rainfall or heavy falls the falls are impressive and attract an influx of visitors. The surrounding cliffs / wall of the falls are impressive and their colour is impressive. Over the years there have been numerous deaths and injuries caused by over adventurous park visitors ignoring warning signs and jumping from rock ledges above the falls into the pool below. This is also great spot for photographers and visitor with an abundance of wildflowers in the area.

I love this place - so much full of nature and wildlife, especially some beautiful migratory birds. When the sun is down or not up, and when the temperature is lower, the place is good for a peaceful and relaxing walk. Though water isn't clean and clear in some parts, they look beautifully natural. I wish there were a few public toilets and drinking water.

Herdsman Lake Regional Park is a fantastic escape from the hustle and bustle of Perth city life. This surprisingly expansive wetland offers a welcome respite and a chance to reconnect with nature, right in the heart of the suburbs. Highlights: Birdwatching Paradise: This is arguably the park's biggest draw. Herdsman Lake is a haven for a diverse range of bird species, both native and migratory. Whether you're a seasoned birdwatcher or a casual observer, you're almost guaranteed to spot interesting birds. Bring your binoculars! Peaceful Walking and Cycling Trails: The park features well-maintained paths that are perfect for walking, jogging, or cycling. Many of the trails are flat and accessible, making them suitable for families with strollers and people of all fitness levels. The loop around the lake offers scenic views and a good workout. Educational Opportunities: The DEC's (Department of Environment and Conservation) Wildlife Centre is a great resource for learning more about the local ecosystem and the importance of wetland conservation. There are often informative displays and programs available. Relaxing Atmosphere: The park offers a sense of peace and tranquility that is hard to find elsewhere in the city. It's a great place to simply relax, enjoy the scenery, and unwind. Picnic Spots: There are several picnic areas scattered around the park, making it a great place for a family outing or a casual lunch.

Heirisson Island is a small island located in the Swan River, near the Perth CBD in Western Australia. It serves as a scenic recreational area featuring walking and cycling trails, picnic spots, and views of the city skyline. Very pretty walk. Very large area. Short distance from the cbd. We didn’t see any Kangaroos though. Disappointing. Read that Kangaroos are nocturnal so may have been sleeping in the day. Pretty views of the city.
Katy J — Google review
We came wanting Kangaroos (some of us maybe didn’t do our research so didn’t realise there was only about 5 on the island) but thankfully we weren’t disappointed and managed to find them. They were very sleepy as they are nocturnal and this was about 11am but it was lovely to just watch them in their natural habitat. The rest of the island was pretty cool too. Although I’m not sure if would be worth it if we didn’t see the Kangaroos, but from looking at other reviews maybe you don’t always get to see them
Ciara L — Google review
Pretty nice a small island to walk around and have some beautiful pictures, but no kangaroos were seen the day I was there. Btw, a new bridge for pedestrians and cyclists is under construction in that area.

This island is located in the middle of the Swan River approx. less than 3km from the CBD. It's on the Causeway which connects Victoria Park and East Perth .... The Heirisson Island is very spacious with a natural reserve, providing great opportunities to look for kangaroos... I saw easily 4 cute kangaroos grazing, sleeping, and lying around freely! Took me about an hour to walk through the entire reserve and it was a pleasant walk!
Rai S — Google review
The poster at the entrance stated that The City of Perth had increased the kangaroo population on Heirisson Island. As we explored the island, we only spotted six kangaroos – one was close to the walking path, while the other five were distant. It seems like our luck that the other kangaroos are likely concealing themselves!

It costs no money to see Kangaroo here! Just walk to the south part of the Island and go inside the fence (don’t forget to close them again to protect this Kangaroo). I’ve been there in the mid-afternoon and late afternoon and always can spot them here, under or near the trees or bushes. Besides being Kangaroo, it is an excellent place to have a picnic or walk. The car park is free for 3 hours as well.

Serpentine Falls, situated in the Serpentine National Park about 55 kilometers southeast of Perth, is a picturesque waterfall surrounded by ancient forests and wetlands. The area has a rich Aboriginal history and offers opportunities for swimming and picnicking. Accessible via a short 500-meter walk from the car park, the falls are popular among visitors due to their easy accessibility and facilities such as BBQs, toilets, and picnic tables.
Incredible waterhole. Currently (June) the water was similar temp to an ice bath, approx 5 degrees. We loved it, very awakening and refreshing. You will get out warm inside. Crystal clear water and beautiful surrounds.
Michael S — Google review
This is a really nice area to come for a picnic or barbeque. There's a number of spaces available to utilise the tables or bring your own chairs or blanket. The toilets are fairly reasonable and I did see the staff ensuring that they were clean and stocked up. The walk to the Falls is pleasant enough aside from rude people who have no awareness of seniors or people who aren't stay on their feet. At this time of the year the Falls are magnificent and it's good to see plenty of water there. It is astounding that at the entry you get asked not to feed the kangaroos and there are also signs asking people not to feed wildlife.....and yet they do what they want to get a photo of themselves or their kids feeding the kangaroos 👎👎👎 It's also astounding that people have no idea what a "One Way" sign is for and drive off to exit the park going against oncoming traffic. The place is terrific and there's a number of hiking trails too. There is a parking fee of around $17 but if you have a National Parks Pass then you can enter for free, but the staff will need to see your pass and confirm that it, and the vehicle, are both valid.
Paul S — Google review
It's very small height fall. The entrance fee is 17 AUD. However one can enjoy the Hiking near to the falls. Serpentine Falls is a beautiful natural spot, perfect for a day trip from Perth. The waterfall looks amazing after rain, and the surrounding national park has great walking trails with plenty of wildlife — we saw lots of kangaroos. There are picnic and BBQ areas, toilets, and good parking, making it family-friendly. It can get busy on weekends, so going early is best. A lovely place to relax in nature and enjoy the scenery.

**Serpentine Falls, located within the stunning Serpentine National Park just an hour's drive south-east of Perth, is a classic Western Australian natural beauty spot that makes for an ideal day trip.** The drive is easy, and the destination offers a wonderful blend of scenic views, accessible nature, and picnic opportunities. **The Star Attraction:** The main draw is, of course, the waterfall itself. Cascading 15 meters over a smooth granite rock face into a large, inviting rock pool, the falls are particularly spectacular after the winter rains (typically **late winter to spring, August to October**). Even when the flow is reduced in the drier months, the tranquil pool and polished granite surroundings are beautiful and a popular spot for photography. **Visitor Experience & Facilities:** The area around the falls is very well-maintained. * **Accessibility:** The main Falls Walk Trail from the car park to the lookout is short and largely accessible, making it great for all ages and fitness levels. * **Picnic Area:** The grassy picnic area is a real highlight, featuring excellent, clean gas BBQs, plenty of shaded tables, and clean toilet facilities. * **Wildlife:** Western Grey Kangaroos are frequently seen grazing in the picnic area, adding a wonderful Australian touch to your lunch. *Remember not to feed them!* **For the Adventurous:** If you're after more than a quick photo and a picnic, the park offers excellent bushwalking: * **Baldwins Bluff Nature Track (6km return):** A moderate climb rewarded with panoramic views over the Swan Coastal Plain and the falls from the summit. * **Kitty's Gorge Walk Track (14km return):** A longer, more challenging hike that follows the Serpentine River and Gooralong Brook, showcasing the park's lush forest, granite outcrops, and, in spring, stunning wildflowers. * **Arrive Early!** Serpentine Falls is extremely popular, especially on weekends and in summer. The park frequently **closes once capacity is reached (often before 10 am)**, so plan to arrive right when it opens at 8:30 am to guarantee entry and a good picnic spot. * **Swimming Safety:** While swimming is a popular activity in the rock pool, visitors should be aware that **jumping and climbing from the rocks is prohibited and dangerous** due to submerged hazards and varying depths. Water quality also varies, so check for local alerts before getting in. In summary, Serpentine Falls is an essential, highly-recommended Perth day out. It's a fantastic spot for a relaxing family picnic, a short nature stroll, or a challenging bushwalk—just remember to set that alarm!
Apriry L — Google review
Great weekend hiking spot! Absolutely loved this place! Not so much water falling, but it was prestine and beautiful! This location was an incredible experience for both our family and friends. We enjoyed an entire day immersed in activities. This is an ideal spot for camping. The kids had a blast swimming, and the highlight was renting a kayak. 30-minute or 1-hour sessions priced at $16 and $26 respectively. Needless to say, we're looking forward to making this a frequent destination.

Lovely place for a family day out. Pack a picnic or usethe BBQ provided there ( do get busy so may have to wait your turn) dedicated swim area in the fresh water lake but has sand like a beach to enter. Playground is there but the old cafe isn't open anymore so make sure you take own food and drinks. Limited seating is there so go early or take chairs ect.

Mundy Regional Park is a nature park featuring trails, wildflowers, and granite boulders. It offers picnic sites and toilet facilities for visitors' convenience. The park includes the Lesmurdie Falls Trails, which are best experienced in winter and spring when Lesmurdie Brook fills with rainwater and cascades over the Darling Range Escarpment.
Mundy Regional Park is a beautiful spot to visit if you’re looking for a wide range of different trails for a hike! We came here during April and the weather was absolutely stunning! Temperatures ranging from 15-20 degrees in the early morning made the hike such an enjoyable one! We followed the Waterfall Road and Crumpet Vrrek path and we found that there was such a good range of terrain you face. From loose rocks, to sandy roads to some pretty challenging up hill areas! The total hike took us 3 hours 40 minutes and for ~11 km and a net elevation gain of ~500m.

Great experience with the kids 2-5yrs old. Not alot of parking though, was told by the ranger you will be charged $80 for parking on the road even if you have a tire out. dog friendly, people had there dogs on leads, No toilets, great walk following the waterfall going up, there was also a dirt/ road trail aswell which made it easier walking back down. will definitely go back, recommend for those who haven’t been to go see it, beautiful walk and view everywhere. if your kids love water, take spare clothes and towels and also rubber/ anti slip shoes as there is algae so very easy to slip and dip there.

Beautiful place lots to see and admire about for mother nature lovers. hiking trails for hiking lovers and even just for walking around the top lookout is amazing Picnic area, parking in different areas and toilets available I suggest if you plan to go there wear comfy walking shoes as some parts are not flat ground if you want to get to the bottom of the falls and some part can be slippery specially when it's been raining Bring water for drinking as going down to the falls from the top parking is a long walk 💧 My 2nd time being there but still can't get enough of how amazing the place is and the view of Perth city from the top is beautiful 😍

Walking the Waterfall Road, Crumpet Creek and Lesmurdie Falls Loop is probably the toughest hike I've done in Perth except for maybe Numbat Trail. Poles are essential, and the Alltrails app because you will get lost without it. Occasionally there are signs hammered into poles but they're meaningless. That said though, this is a magnificent trail that challenges constantly. There are so many ascents, steep ascents that require hiking poles for safety. For most of the trail there were few other hikers until approaching Lesmurdie Falls where it gets busy. In winter, the streams are flowing, which provides a soothing soundscape along with numerous birds, and banjo frogs in places. This is my new favourite hike.

The views of the dam and the weir are spectacular. There are no fees and bookings required. Just keep in mind that the Weir gates will close at 6pm.

I went camping at Mundaring Weir last week and had a fantastic experience! It’s a peaceful spot surrounded by natural beauty and ideal for a quick getaway from Perth. We explored the Weir Walk Trail, a short and easy 1km loop that winds through the forest and leads to a lovely lookout over the dam and reservoir. It’s perfect for beginners or families and gives you that nice bushwalking feel without too much effort. Camping was quiet and relaxing, with clean facilities including toilets, picnic tables, and plenty of fire pits (seasonal use). We had clear skies for stargazing and enjoyed the calm atmosphere. The views from the dam wall are stunning, especially around sunset. We also saw native birds, wildflowers, and a few kangaroos nearby. A bonus — there’s reliable 4G/5G internet reception at the campsite and around the weir, which was handy for maps and staying connected. If you’re looking for a close-to-Perth camping spot with history, nature, and easy trails, Mundaring Weir is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommend it!

Nestled in the tranquil coastal suburb of Trigg, the Trigg Bushland Reserve is a delightful escape for nature enthusiasts and dog lovers alike. This serene trail weaves through stunning native wilderness, showcasing an array of flora from majestic Tuart trees to colorful wildflowers. As you stroll along the bush track, you'll be serenaded by the gentle sounds of waves lapping at the shore nearby. The reserve features unique parabolic sand dunes that add to its charm and make it a standout destination.
Free bushlands like this are part of what makes Perth such a beautiful place. The only real "parking" for this runs along Arnott St to the West, but mounting the curb isn't an impossible task. One can choose to walk in and out of here in 10 minutes, or spend more than an hour exploring all of the paths, including a dedicated bush path that cuts straight through the middle and brings you much closer to the flora. The variety of plants and flowers here is great, especially when you choose the season correctly.

Wasn't overly impressed with this reserve. I struggled to find a main carpark or entry point and ended up driving round and finding a random street parking location. The walk was nearly entirely on concrete and quite steep and hilly in places. I'm not shy of a steep climb but the reward for doing them weren't that great...and I felt that this wasn't over all very enjoyable walk so turned around and headed back home.

John Forrest National Park, located just 20 minutes south of Noble Falls, offers a diverse range of trails for hiking enthusiasts. As Western Australia's first national park, it boasts a rich history and is easily accessible from multiple entrances. The park features picturesque waterfalls that can be reached via an easy walk from the carpark at the top of Morrison Rd. Hiking through the train tunnel adds to the adventure, while lovely gorge and valley views await along the way.
We have been to these falls a couple of times, mostly in the "wet season". This time there was no water at all and gave us the opportunity for a relative easy walk to the bottom of the falls without worrying of gettng wet. A great opportunity I might add. We started from the car park at the Rangers Office at Park Rd. From there we followed the Train Heritage walk Trail towards the Swan View Tunnel, which is very flat and easy to walk. It is just over 1km from the carpark and halfway to the tunnel. Keep in mind there are no dogs and/or pets allowed in John Forrest Nationa Park and Standard park entry fees apply. Very enjoyable!

The Bibbulmun Track Northern Terminus is a renowned 1000-km hiking trail that spans from Kalamunda, near Perth, to the historic town of Albany. This challenging yet rewarding trek winds through stunning natural landscapes including karri and tingle forests, misty valleys, granite boulders, and coastal scenery. Along the way, hikers can enjoy camping and lodging in nearby rural communities while being surrounded by abundant wildlife such as kangaroos and wallabies.
Very enjoyable group hike. Some steep sections.

Adventurous track starting point from Kalamunda to Albany, 6 to 8 weeks to complete. Bring your own hiking and camping stuff. I found sign boards at every turn, so I didn't need to look into my own map. Camp sites available. Beautiful wild flowers in Spring, you can see at the end of week in September. I enjoyed a day tracking. Love it.

Thanks to all the amazing members and volunteers for creating and maintaining the track. Easy to follow yellow triangles with some great steep challenges in the first few kms. I did the 16km section from Kalamunda to Mundaring Weir. Weather was terrible, some heavy rain but some clear spots. I was prepared with wet weather gear so it was fine. Note the first shelter (Hewett's Hill) isn't until about the 10km mark so stop before then for rest and food if need be. This is an overnight sleep or camp spot too if you want to make it over two days. 2 sets of wooden Queen size bunks under shelter. Picnic table inside and outside with fire pit (always check fire restrictions first!). There is always a drop toilet, tent area of you bring your own and untreated water available (to be boiled first) And for noting I was able to get an uber from the Weir back to my car in Kalamunda (weather too terrible to walk the 16kms back!) if anyone else needs this option.

Recently renovated, the Northern Terminus is the first or last thing many end-to-end walkers see on their overland walking adventure! Seats, shelter and ware are.all available, not to mention the shopping centre across the road!! Lots of cool cultural interpretation is in place, focusing on the six Noongar seasons. From the terminus you can access the Kalamunda town centre, additional local walk trails and local arts, crafts.and specially stores. Street parking can be found earby, or you can park in the shopping centre bays.

The Bibbulmun Track is WAs best kept secret. Northern Terminus is good because you can park and stock up at Coles before heading out. It is a great track stretching from Kalamunda to Albany, with varying levels of difficulty. Many choose to do day hikes, while others go out for a few days at a time and some even do end to end which takes around 5 - 6 weeks to complete. Great for soul searching and huts along the way where you can sleep overnight.

I was surprised to find this lovely peaceful walking trail just 10 minutes from the city. There was a lot to see, lots of scenery changes. About half the walk was shaded, which was nice! It only takes about 15 min if you're briskly walking, and it took us about an hour including stopping to look at pelicans/water birds etc. There is both a smooth pathed bicycle track, and a parallel dirt track running alongside that occasionally connects. Note: Don't navigate to the pin drop or the left side, there's no parking (unless you park on someone's verge). Stacey's Loop Walk Trail is a family-friendly 2km hike in Serpentine National Park, offering a perfect introduction to the area's natural beauty. The trail winds through jarrah forest, showcasing fallen hollowed trees, bracken ferns, and grass trees that create an adventurous atmosphere for kids to explore.
A beautiful walk of just under 2km exploring the bush and the Gooralong brook. This walk starts at the same point in Jarrahdale as the longer Kitty Gorge trail. An amazingly beautiful walk. Lovely and cool under the forest canopy. Lots of fascinating trees! Plenty of birdsong. The trail isn't hard, but does have some steeper sections. A lot of the time one will be stepping over smaller rocks or tree roots or fallen logs. There are two bridges across the brook. The first looks a bit dodgy - some of the planks need replacing. It was safe, although there is only a railing on one side. The water was deep and incredibly clear! Immediately after this is a short section of raised steel "boardwalk". Not long after the first bridge one comes to a beautiful opening in the forest. A great place to sit on a rock and have lunch. The brook runs at the bottom of the clearing. Moving forwards, one comes to the next bridge. This one had a part of the railing coming loose - but unlike the first bridge it was enclosed on both sides, allowing our little one a chance to explore. The brook cascades beautifully at this point. Moving on, one heads back up to the starting point. We'll definitely have to do this amazing walk again!

A highlight of the journey is reaching the picturesque Rocky Pools, especially vibrant during winter and spring when water cascades through them beautifully.
It was rather easy to walk trail and the brook was flowing beautifully after a week of rain. Saw a few red tailed black cockatoos which was a highlight
