Specialty Museums
The Canadian Museum for Human Rights is a modern museum that focuses on both Canadian and international human rights issues. Located in Winnipeg, it is one of the city's many attractions, offering visitors a unique experience with its striking architecture. The building features a glass cloud facade, a Tower of Hope spire, and massive limestone roots that symbolize the journey towards universal human rights.
It's important that Canada has a Museum for Human Rights given its international reputation and values of respecting human rights and advocating for peace and non-violence. The museum itself is very modern, well-sectioned, adequately staffed and has all the amenities you'd expect of such a world class facility. The exhibits are also very well organized, and impactful in making you stop, observe, think, feel, absorb and reflect on what you've just experienced. The Canadian Museum for Human Rights is the hands down the museum where I stayed the most and stopped the longest in front of a display. Visiting this museum should be on everyone list.
Sam J — Google review
Human Rights museums are always a heavy experience, but also incredibly important to visit. This museum did a good job covering a variety of historical events and cultures, but I also thought there was maybe a bit too much open space on each floor. Maybe it would have felt less empty if it had been a busier day, but I left feeling like they could have added a lot more considering the available space. Still well worth the visit, but probably a museum I wouldn’t go back to.
Jenna J — Google review
This museum should always be a must visit if you are in Canada. It contains so much relevant information about the current situation and recent history of humanity, that it takes a good 3-4 hours to explore properly. The building itself is worth the ticket. The views of the city from the Tower of Hope and the walk down along the different levels are fantastic. I just wished they included the option of paying for parking with the visit.
Pablo ( — Google review
A very informative and interesting museum. The whole layout was exceptionally good. The timeline in the first exhibit is spectacular. So much thought has been put into the architecture, film footage, information and moving from one section to another. There are gradual slopes up to each level lit by alabaster walls which allows one to reflect as they get to the next level. Highly recommend.
Victoria — Google review
One of the best museums I’ve ever been to… Incredibly engaging, profound and architecturally amazing. Bravo to the curator and to Canada for knocking out of the park. We were only there 2 1/2 hours, but we easily could’ve spent all day.
David L — Google review
Worth a visit. Make sure to plan to spend a good enough time here, there's much to see and learn. Every floor is sure to offer a learning experience. If you get hungry, there is a coffee shop at the top floor or the cafe down in the first level that was really good!
Meri J — Google review
Very educational with beautiful displays of historical precedents to help understand our difficult path to todays society. The museum is also an architectural marvel in many ways. A must visit in Winnipeg

The Forks National Historic Site features stunning scenery and interesting history, including a market and museums. The park is home to aboriginal people for thousands of years and it's now a popular tourist destination. Throughout the year there are many events happening at the site that families can enjoy.
I’ve been riding the river trails for the past week. It sure beats going through downtown and the rough conditions of our roads and sidewalks. I have a bad habit of taking photos constantly as I already envision it before I capture it. It sure has changed drastically. I can’t believe how much homeless shelters are by the path heading West towards The Golden Boy. There’s even more after Osborne as well. It’s getting wild out there. Stay safe and keep on rolling through.
UltraWPG — Google review
This is such a beautiful location with a fantastic multi use combination of history, indigenous recognition, nature, architecture, children's areas, and modern conveniences. One of the few locations I can think of that has everything and free as well. You can spend 30 minutes walking around or easily relax for the entire day here. No park pass or admission needed to walk the grounds.

awesome space, every-time i come i see something new, many spaces to explore, i want to come back again and again. good job on landscape design.
Kolki — Google review
A truly beautiful and picturesque park. Nature from trees, flowers and wildlife, all alongside the river makes this park unique. I love the different walking paths and many resting/picnic benches and tables everywhere.
Isydia ( — Google review
It's such a beautiful place suitable for any family gatherings or romantic dates. Nature and civilization are perfectly blended here. You'll need a couple of hours to explore it. Put it on your bucket list when you come to Winnipeg😉
Anna G — Google review
Absolutely beautiful place to enjoy the summers. The calmness of the Red river with the greeneries around is a cherry on cake. It's pretty close to the Forks Market and you can enjoy walking along the banks of the river or bir along the banks of the river. It's popularly called the heart of Winnipeg Downtown and it literally lives up to its popularity.
Kanchan K — Google review
Hands down, the Forks is the best place to visit in Winnipeg! Very romantic park setting and scenic along the Red River. In the summer, we took the guided boat tour which is inexpensive and about 90 minutes long. You'll see numerous musical shows on weekends. Temperatures that summer in July were about 82 degrees Fahrenheit. In the winter in November and March when it was 14 degrees (which is considered balmy here), the area which usually has events becomes an ice-skating rink and there's a small makeshift hockey rink across from it. The Forks Market was a pleasant surprise. Every lunch and dinner location we tried was delicious and fairly priced. The BEST croissants I've ever tasted are at the Tall Grass Prairie Bakery. Don't let the long line scare you as you'll be served within minutes. In my most recent stay, I was at the Inn at the Forks. It's very pricey, but worth it to get a great scenic view in the morning and is in the heart of the park. It's only a 15-20 minute walk to downtown Winnipeg. On a negative note, on my last night in 2020, I took some souvenir photos at midnight along the scenic river and was followed all the way back to the hotel by a meth addict who thought I was taking photos of him and yelling at me. I had to kick the guy out of the hotel as no one from the front desk wanted to get involved or call police. Sadly, there were some high profile events in 2022 of folks being beaten, stabbed and robbed in the Forks...and this occurred in daylight. I hope they will add cameras in the park that were lacking when I was last there. Because of the growing drug and crime issue in the area, I was going to give it a 4 star review instead of a 5. Hopefully, law enforcement will beef up their presence here because it really is a BEAUTIFUL place to be, regarding of the season. I hope the Forks will give you the same enjoyment and positive memories that it gave me and will ALWAYS hold a special place in my heart!

Hiking Trails
Riding Mountain National Park, located about 240 kilometers west of Winnipeg, is a vast protected area spanning 3,000 square kilometers. It is home to diverse wildlife including bison, moose, white-tailed deer, elk, various bird species and more. The park offers a range of accommodations such as small hotels and lodges in the town of Wasagaming as well as campgrounds and back-country sites. Additionally, visitors can experience unique cube accommodations provided by Parks Canada.
Visited Riding Mountain National Park two summers ago, and it was a truly unique experience. It was August, the weather was fair and sunny, yet the temperature already had a hint of autumn's crispness. The beach area was bustling with visitors, but the lake is shimmering, the water seems a lot clearer compared to other lakes I’ve come across with and the expansive lawns were filled with picnic tables shaded by beautiful trees. The beach itself was a mix of sand and stones, making it less ideal for swimming, the park has lovely biking and hiking trails, designated camping spots, and charming A-frame cabins. The park's amenities were ample, including parking spaces, washrooms, changing stations, specialty shops, fishing equipment rentals, a beach pier, restaurants, cafes, and ice cream/dessert shops. Wonderful experience that I won't soon forget.
Ayel R — Google review
We have camped here a few years and we have loved every minute of it. We love that once we arrive we don't have to drive anywhere, just hop on our bikes and get anywhere from the campsites, to the beach, to bike paths, into town and more! The sites are beautiful, the bathrooms are clean, the customer service is great and the views are stunning! The firewood is sometimes wet but its free. We usually chop it up first thing and it dries up quickly!

Riding Mountain National Park is one of the premier national parks in Manitoba. It offers excellent dining options, numerous activities, and a beautiful clear lake and beach. The park is impeccably clean and provides a peaceful environment, making it ideal for a day trip or an extended stay. It’s a fantastic destination for camping, hiking, and biking. The scenic beauty even evokes the feeling of being in Alberta. Highly recommended for a visit.

Very nice park. The roads are good and scenery pleasant. Stayed at the Wassagaming campground. Lots of sites, some full service with pull through. Level with picnic table and firepit. Nicely spaced so you have privacy. Staff were helpful and friendly (5star). The townsite was lovely and interesting. Walking along the lake was peaceful and so beautiful with loons calling in the background. It was like a tv commercial! Recommend👍

One of my favourite places to go camping or even just as a day trip to hang out with family! You can camp there, be a beach bum, rent electric bikes, go hiking and have some good food (but it can get expensive). Highly recommend. 10/10

I’m very proud of the fact that our province Manitoba owns this amazing national park. The Riding Mountain National Park has a great clear lake with the clearest water I believe in North America. In addition, it’s has great camping sites and black bears. The little town Center along the clear lake has some nice restaurants, café and bakeries, souvenir shops and clothing stores. Some stores are very cute. You can also swim, kayak and canoe there, as well as BBQ. There are a few very good hiking trails. Nice parking lots. Strongly recommend this park.

About a 2.5 hour drive. Very nice place for camping and to get away from the city life. Stayed at the otentiks and nice camp sites. No need for tents, they also provide a propane grill to use. Also the town is very nice to grab some treats or ice cream. Beach is very nice for the family to hang out and play or just relax. The service was good, no issues. Also washrooms were kept clean. Would definitely be coming back! They also have a Beaver tails store there in town. Great dessert spot!
ROB S — Google review
I've been to alot of parks, and this one is amazing! Campsites are lovely, lots of access to drinking water. Great beach area. Campgrounds are within walking distance from a lively downtown core. Beach. Stores. Restaurants. Ice cream. Grocery. Clothing. Rental of cabins, hotel, bikes, eBikes, pontoons, boats, paddle boards, kayaks, peddle boats. Regular and frequent staff patrolling the campgrounds, as you have bears. Commissionaires do security patrols. Very clean, well organized campgrounds! Very attractive cabins. Lots of walking and biking paths. Gotta see the Wishing Well is a must if you like to see how Nature and human interaction can blend together beautifully. The marsh trail, Ominnik, is a boardwalk and wheelchair accessible, not very long, but is very interesting. Golfing within the park may be pricey, but there are other options just outside the park at Onanole.

The International Peace Garden is a sprawling 2,339-acre botanical garden that spans the Canadian and American border near Boissevain, Manitoba and Dunseith, North Dakota. It offers a serene escape with landscaped areas, wild spaces, pools, and hiking trails. The garden symbolizes peace between the two countries and features beautiful flowers, intricate landscaping, and a working floral clock with a unique design each year.
We drove here on a Saturday from Minot, ND. If you drive here make sure you have a valid Passport or some kind of form of identification to enter back into the states. Aside from that, this park is beautiful. It's large and the gardens are truly breathtaking. We went during the end of August once the leaves started changing colors and it's truly a beautiful place to go have a picnic or just enjoy the scenery. I'm from Texas and down there we have the Botanical gardens, but this place was even better in my opinion. Quiet, and so peaceful. I'm definitely coming back again. Also I'd like to add that there's so many wild turkeys roaming about, be careful not to let them in the gardens.
J B — Google review
Love it!!! It looked and smelled amazing. The storybook features were nice to see. Great place for a picnic or just sit and relax. The Wardens and 9/11 Memorials were nice to see and pay respect to. They had a great play area for kids to play, and the restrooms we covenant and clean. We would love to come back and spend more time exploring this beautiful area.
Jennifer M — Google review
The staff member at the front gate was incredibly nice and informative. We could tell that she really enjoys her job and interacting with guests. The gardens were spacious with various plants and colors. The cacti inside the greenhouse were super neat! I liked how they plants were identified and told us which region they are from.
Jonah H — Google review
Beautiful place, but for a one-time visit. This place is like a provincial park. Wild nature in many places. Plenty of picnic spots. On the border of the USA and Canada there are amazing and long flower beds. The park has a beautiful gallery of succulents.
Нanna B — Google review
So many beautiful flowers! The Chokecherry ice cream in the café is the best ice cream I've ever had. The chapel at the far end of the garden holds a lot of intrigue (and a lot of echoes!), and there are several interesting stops when you drive the ND side of the garden. This experience was so good, on so many levels. I can't wait to return! Because you leave the United States to enter the Garden, bring your Real ID driver's license, or driver's license and birth certificate (if you don't have Real ID), or your passport for re-entry into the US.
Mari S — Google review
Peaceful and serene. The Formal Gardens are beautiful. The 9/11 Memorial is very somber and peaceful. We enjoyed riding through Canada and the US. Stay long enough to hear the bells. Many places to stop for a picnic.
Terri S — Google review
Very peaceful and serene stay at the campground. Enjoyed exploring the Peace Gardens! Plenty of restrooms and picnic/play areas around the gardens. The cafe is expensive but good. No ice on the premises to purchase so be sure to take it with you from Dundsieth before going to the garden; its about a 15 min drive.
Angela A — Google review
Great place to spend the day. Lots of walking trails. The gardens and fountain is a nice destination for pictures with the family. The large indoor catus exhibit is worth the price of admission. They have a small 911 memorial that was neat to see.

Lakeview Gimli Resort is a waterfront hotel in Gimli, Manitoba, offering casual rooms and featuring two pools, an on-site restaurant, and a cocktail lounge. It's conveniently located near the popular Gimli Beach and other attractions. The resort has received high ratings for its excellent location and cleanliness. Guests have praised the Mother's Day buffet for its fantastic food selection but noted some issues with the drinks.
Came to Lakeview Resort during the summertime and had a beautiful relaxing stay. This resort is positioned perfectly on Gimli’s shore and definitely gives you plenty to look at in terms of views. The rooms are cozy and comfy and the restaurant is convenient and delicious. There’s so much to do when you stay here. We happened to catch a live music performance on the street as well as the amazing Canada day fireworks at nighttime. The pools and hot tub are clean and the beach is right out the door. One of the best experiences in Manitoba for sure and I do recommend!

We were enjoyed every single minute there. Beautiful swimming pool, amazing view. Very relaxing atmosphere. Only 3 steps for room cleaning, because I found that our room was not clean enough:very dusty and bathroom can be cleaner.
Marina M — Google review
One bedroom suite was decent. Good size for small families however, could use some upgrading. Screen door leading to patio was broken, and pull-out couch/bed was very uncomfortable and springy. When we arrived, the hallway on our floor did not smell nice. Almost like mouldy wet carpets. Unfortunately not impressed with the restaurant for dinner. Food was way overpriced and our meals came cold to the table. Overall, the room and food was way overpriced for what we got. Don’t think we would stay here again unless the hotel had some upgrades or we were able to get a better deal on a room.
Brennan L — Google review
I have been going to Gimli with my mom, sister and Grandpa and Grandma for years now and we always stay in the same room for a week each year. This is a great vacation destination and will highly recommend😃! Also my grandpa is good friends with the manager! There is great service there and great clean rooms with and an amazing restaurant and pool area! I recommend going August 1-20 because there are no fishflies there!!! I am so excited to go there this summer with my family! Five star ⭐ vacation destination for families.
Nouria M — Google review
We liked the very cold AC. It's a quiet hotel. We enjoyed the eco friendly incentive of $5/day. The bed was unbelievably comfortable. Restaurants were good. Proximity to shopping is a plus. Staff was friendly. Pools were great! Needs a few updates and upgrades for a 5*.
Clay W — Google review
Wonderful location on the beach. Easy access to everything. Plenty of parking when we were there. Staff we encountered were friendly. The hotel has so much potential but needs a good dose of updating. The first room we were given was somewhat updated, bathroom was nice, but it was second floor above the shops and the entire room vibrated from the ventilation fan below the room. It was room 209. My kids asked if it was an earthquake. I need the constant vibration would drive me nuts, so i requested a different room, and the front desk was very accommodating. Thankfully. Our second room was third floor. It hadn't been updated. It was clean and fine for us. Great view of the beach from the deck. Swimming pools were enjoyed by the kids. Indoor pool is warm, the air inside is too warm, but that makes swimming comfortable. Outdoor pool looked like it would be perfect for a warm sunny day. With continued updates to this hotel, and perhaps they should add conference rooms, i really think this hotel could be a destination. I'd recommend Lakeview Gimli Resort if you're looking for a getaway on the beach.
Steve K — Google review
Avoid Room 326 – Disappointing Experience I strongly advise against staying in Room 326. The unit was unclean upon arrival—linens and bedding had not been changed, and the washroom was noticeably dirty. Even more concerning, the balcony door had been forcibly sealed shut with wood and screws, which felt like a serious fire hazard and triggered a lot of anxiety. I couldn’t sleep the entire night. The pool washroom was also in poor condition, and my kids were visibly grossed out by it. I’ve stayed at this hotel many times over the years and have usually had great experiences, but this visit was a major letdown. At $250 per night, I expected far better. Management needs to address these issues urgently.

Gimli Resort is the perfect spot to unwind and recharge! The restaurants are top-notch, serving up delicious meals with a beautiful lakefront view. Taking a leisurely walk along the docks, watching the sunset over the water. It's so peaceful and rejuvenating. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway, Gimli Resort is a must-visit!

Asessippi Ski Area & Resort, located near the Saskatchewan border, is the largest ski area in the prairies. It's conveniently closer to Regina than Winnipeg and offers 26 downhill runs, three lifts, two terrain parks, and a spacious tubing area with a magic carpet. Recently, dog sledding has been added as an exciting winter activity. Additionally, it serves as a picturesque wedding venue in Inglis, Manitoba with stunning valley views for ceremonies and receptions.
Winter wonderland; typically only heard in song lyrics, but here it is felt and proves that such a place exists! Burdened by the flat geography of the province of Manitoba, many individuals who indulge in winter sports such as skiing and snowboarding find it difficult to be in their true element, but here it is possible. Just shy of a 4 1/2 hour drive from the city of Winnipeg, Asessippi Ski Area & Resort will meet all your alpine aspires and ambitions. With three chair lifts providing 26 ski runs, two terrain parks, downhill snow tubing and countless forest trails, Asessippi will not disappoint! Needing a warm up during your downhill adventure? Asessippi Ski Area & Resort also provides a lovely indoor gathering area including an eatery, a gift shop, and of course a changing area for you to get all bundled up and for your day on the slopes. If you’re far out on the hill, and need a quick break from the winter weather there is a cabin cozied between trees conveniently on the ski out. Here, you can order a variety of drinks and some food items as well. With a blazing fire keeping you warm, it’s the perfect pit stop for a full day of fun! Asessippi Ski Area & Resort is an excellent vacation destination for winter sport enthusiasts and an all round lovely resort to vacation. Yes, somewhat of a trek, but the closest far away ski resort one could ask for!
J A — Google review
This past winter I photographed my first wedding at Asessippi, and while I didn’t hit the slopes, my time at the resort was fantastic. The wedding day experience from a photography and guest perspective was warm, welcoming, and beautifully run. Blue (the wedding host) was incredibly helpful to both me and the couple. She gave me a quick tour before the ceremony so I could plan out the afternoon photo session, which made a big difference when the timeline ran a little behind, as wedding days often do. I could also see how committed she and the staff were to creating a great atmosphere for the couple and their guests. The space itself is a cozy and charming winter wedding location. The ceremony was held indoors in front of the fireplace, and it made for an intimate, memorable setting. The reception had the same warm, personal vibe and was full of character. If you’re dreaming of a winter wedding with rustic charm and a team that genuinely cares, Asessippi is a great spot.

Great ski resort for all kinds of people from beginners to professionals. Easier to book tickets in advance. The equipment rental process is smooth and the staff really helps you choose the right gear. The ski slopes are kept well maintained. Enjoyed the bunny hill area. Lots of safety features included so that even children can have a great time here. The restaurant is also fully functional with a variety of hot food and beverages. Worth the price!
Christeen S — Google review
Had so much skiing this past Tuesday. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Pricing was very reasonable. Loved the cafeteria. Only critique is some of the signs/maps were a bit confusing. Would maybe recommend more signage for some trails (e.g . Home Run) to indicate that you need to first descend Kodiak before "starting", for example.

Great winter facility for family adventures. Very reasonably priced food options and lots of seating. Numerous lifts to cut down on lineups. Pictures are of the Bunny Hill only.

For Manitoba, this resort is a good as it gets. The owners know how to make the most of what they have and staff are friendly and helpful. We try to come out once a year to enjoy the resort - well worth it for a weekend.

Was there for a wedding in late September and it was absolutely beautiful. Everyone was kind and helpful. Will definitely be going back!!!

End of season conditions were FANTASTIC. The 50% off kids lift tickets and rentals sweetened the deal. We came in December where both kids did lessons, for their very first time. They were instantly hooked and their instructors (Ella for skiing and Zach for snowboarding) were both out standing. They really cultivated a love of the sport for both my young boys and it’s all they talked about since. We decided to head there for spring break, and so glad we did! All the staff are incredible, always so helpful and kind. They even hold the chair lift when my kids were learning to get on. My son was so excited at his progress he spent hours trying to see if Zach was working again to show him haha.We have found our new favourite place and we owe it all to the hard working staff who go above and beyond. Thank you Ella, Zach and who I think is the manager (purple hair) for your amazing dedication to what you do. You left a lasting mark on our whole family and we will be back as soon as we can! Ski & Snowboard Areas
Nestled just a short drive from Winnipeg, Stony Mountain Ski Area is the perfect destination for those looking to embrace the joys of skiing without venturing too far. While it may not boast towering peaks, this cozy ski area offers a welcoming atmosphere ideal for beginners and families alike. The friendly and attentive staff are dedicated to ensuring that newcomers feel comfortable on the slopes, often providing assistance with lift rides and even walking alongside them as they navigate their first experiences.
It's a bit smaller than Springhill but a little more cozy. Rope tow for the terrain park and t-bar for the bunny hill. Family run aspect is great. They do a great job running the hill.
Kris H — Google review
An okay place for beginners but the tow rope can be quite frustrating. Hill is small and definetly no mountain (but its manitoba lol). The staff is super kind and patient which I appreciated! Food is really good and priced well too!
Carmen H — Google review
small but good place for beginners, the coaches are so nice and so responsible and warm heart. They would even assistant beginners and kids to riding on the lift and accompanying them behind and walking up (yeah, u see right) to the hill. The lounge is too old but reminding me of the old country club. Literally, it is small, but neat place to go. Strongly recommending leisure skiers and beginners!
Gary W — Google review
Let me start with this ain't the mountains. It has a t-bar and rope tow. The runs are short but really we live in Manitoba. That being said staff are awesome seasonal passes are more then reasonable and it's 10km from the north perimeter. So what you loose in runs is gained in convince
David G — Google review
Such a good place for a 25 minute drive out of Winnipeg! Way better than Spring Hill. I love the tow ropes and how quick it is and the runs are so nice and powdery and groomed
Jedd Y — Google review
It's okay for beginners. The hills are tiny. Takes about 15 seconds to make it all the way to the bottom. Plus, the rope lift is going so fast it'll tear up the strongest of gloves.

Great family owned business! Lessons for adults and kids. All levels. I'm a beginner and had a lot of fun! You can go in the evening on weekdays too.

Friendly staff, had a blast riding, longer lines for the slower lift, will be back

Ski Valley is a delightful hidden gem nestled north of Minnedosa, Manitoba, perfect for a day of outdoor fun in the crisp winter air. While it may be a modest hill, it boasts an impressive variety of slopes and terrains that cater to all skill levels. The snow quality is excellent and the trails are meticulously groomed, ensuring an enjoyable experience for everyone. Visitors rave about the friendly and professional staff who provide a warm local charm reminiscent of larger Rocky Mountain resorts.
It was a great experience!!! I came with my family we paid some lessons (it was our very first time skiing) and we had such a great time, definitely we are going to visit ski valley again soon :D Highly recommended, specially as a beginner.

My go to spot for Snowboarding. I like that they added a little bit of park and they try to groom it. Although it hasn't been the best groom lately since there hasn't been a good snowfall. The food can be better since there isn't a restaurant nearby. Staff is awesome and friendly and we met the Dad of the owner and he's one of the nicest guy I've met. Overall a nice resort to go
Daniel D — Google review
Beautiful and convenient ski resort with great slopes! But the rental gear is a disaster — old, extremely uncomfortable, and very worn out. Definitely worth visiting, but only if you bring your own equipment (skis, snowboard, sleds, etc.).
TtCAD — Google review
After the transportation of ownership, the new owner refused to accept un-used multi-pass from the previous owner. Well, the customer has to take the lost. Good job.
Sun M — Google review
It's a small hill and facility but they are very attentive and it was great for the area being generally very flat! Lots of kids with a school group and they had enough equipment for everyone! Great instructors and learning hill. Will definitely be back
Odin T — Google review
Skiing is good, and the staff is great. The food situation is the only downside. The indoor eatery is really expensive and there is no place inside where you can bring a bagged lunch. For that reason alone I usually choose a different hill that is the same drive from my house. If eating in your car is not a deal breaker, then this is a great hill.
Josh B — Google review
A little gem located within a 2 1/2 hour drive of Winnipeg. Friendly family type skiing. Local ski club and instructors have enthusiasm and heart.
Glenn A — Google review
Had a fantastic time here. Staff is friendly & helpful. We went with a large group rental and they got us all sorted and ready to go in a timely manner. The challet was nice and warm with food options available. The ski lift often had a long line which moved surprisingly fast. Great way to get out and enjoy the winter!

Festival
Festival du Voyageur Inc. is a 10-day winter celebration in Winnipeg, Manitoba, paying homage to the fur trading industry. This event features music, arts, crafts, folklore, and dance that showcase the unique heritage and culture of the region. Initially a three-day festival with 50,000 visitors in 1970, it has now become Western Canada's largest winter festival held every February.
Hé!Ho! Félicitations au comité organisateur du Festival du Voyageur virtual, 2021. Congratulations to the organizing committee of this year's virtual Festival du Voyageur. My wife and I enjoyed three virtual concerts, pre-recorded and broadcast on Facebook and YouTube. We enjoyed having franco-manitobain, Indigenous and other local and Canadian artists brought right into our family room. I have difficulty with the cold and with slippery places, so I was thrilled to be able to be part of this celebration. The annual Beard Growing, Jigging and Fiddle competitions were held virtually. We especially enjoyed the program of Indigenous Artists from all across Canada.
Sidney S — Google review
We had such a lovely day at the Festival this Monday. The lines were short. We enjoyed some yummy treats. The kids loved the slides through the snow sculptures. The climb up sculptures were a big hit. There is nothing like maple taffy on a stick to round out a good way to spend a winter day in Manitoba.

Was Beautiful with a lot of people that came out to enjoy there day with the beautiful days and some cold days.
BEAR W — Google review
As a child, Festival was so much fun. Now as an adult, it’s simply not worth the money. There’s really not that much to do and it’s pretty darn expensive. I think if you’re from the French community, it would be fun because there’s so many people that you’d know and visit with. But if you’re not connected to a whole bunch of people, it’s pretty lame and I’d recommend skipping it. There are lots of good musical acts but you can catch them elsewhere during the year and for a better listening experience.
Jean — Google review
We paid $100 for two admissions and then had to wait over 30 minutes in line to enter a tent, music was so loud couldn’t even hear ourselves talk. Food was also meh and pricey. Festival used to be fun when they didn’t over charge and over sell tickets. Not worth the money.
Rhiannon — Google review
Getting pricey for the experience: they limit your time in the main park, fewer ‘experiences’ and more focused on selling junk food. The maple on the snow was not maple - some kind of corn syrup (my family had a maple syrup operation). Idea of the carnival is great but has been watered down each year. Too bad.
Sylvie A — Google review
This is an event that's more fondly remembered as a child than experienced as an adult. Not much to do, and generally pretty overrated. Even the maple sugar is good for a few sucks before you eventually just toss it in the snow.
Sam B — Google review
Used to really enjoy this great mid-winter music festival until if they started to oversell tickets and have to wait in line for an hour to get into every tent in the evenings. Your ticket price essentially gets you into the park to wait in line-ups. The actual music and service is all fantastic if you can ever get into see anything.

Located just minutes from the Winnipeg Airport, the Sandman Hotel & Suites is a great place to stay if you're looking for a convenient option close to the airport. The hotel features an indoor pool and hot tub, as well as a fitness center, which makes it perfect for guests who want to stay active while in town. Additionally, the free Wi-Fi and shuttle service to and from the airport make this a great choice for travelers on a budget.
Overall quite enjoyed the sandman. Dog friendly with a big courtyard to walk them. Rooms were spacious The staff was super nice The pool & fitness gym could use a little work, but it was fine. The hot tub wasn’t hot enough I just didn’t like how the water fountain was inside the pool but you can’t wear outside shoes to go get it . A more accessible fountain would be better Loved how close to Denny’s and moxies it was. Never had to worry about starving. The laundry though, yes it was free to use, you just need to provide your own detergent. But it was a washer & dryer combo. And I don’t think anyone ever cleaned the dryer…. It doesn’t dry clothes. It leaves your clothes hot and damp… even after 2 hours of drying. Because of this, it caused us to wait a long time for a machine to be available. People keep resetting the dryer because their clothes weren’t drying. We learned from other guests so we just dried our 2 hours worth then took the clothes back into the room to hang dry.
Hannah I — Google review
Have never stayed at a Sandman before, so we weren’t sure what to expect. It turned out to be a good hotel within walking distance to stores and restaurants. The hotel does have two restaurants on site, including a Denny’s which is open 24 hours (did not eat at it, so cannot attest to the food). Though starting to show its age, our room was clean and spacious and the king bed was super comfortable. The only issue is that the PTAC is long overdue for a good cleaning. Additionally, we appreciated that it is dog friendly. Front desk staff were friendly. Would stay here again.
L D — Google review
The hotel is not 5 star but it is clean and convenient. I was provided shuttle service daily by Lilly and she is amazing. Very caring , communicative and accommodating. 5+ stars !! I only gave 4 for service as the front desk agents did not acknowledge my presence when checking in and times I had questions
Jessica P — Google review
DO NOT STAY HERE!! This place is seriously like a Motel 6. Absolutely disgusting. Dirty. Outdated. Noisy. Smelly. Stayed here one night over the weekend and was very disappointed from the moment we checked in. The hallways are outdated and dirty. The rooms are horrific and small. Not what is pictured. The tv does not work. It shuts on and off all night long. Bed sheets were dirty. Also, the hotel room shakes. Like literally shakes. I believe it’s from the outdated elevator that has maintenance issues. Motel 6 would be a palace compared to this hotel. I am not quite sure how this is a Sandman hotel. Do yourself a favour and stay elsewhere!!

I was staying in the city this time to do a working at heights training course for a routine refresher. I am a miner by trade and must do this every couple years. My room unfortunately wasn’t ready on time because of cleaning delays. The service representative at the front desk was really accommodating and gave me a voucher for dinner in one of the restaurants attached to the hotel. Chops is one of my favourite places to eat. The steak bites are one yummy appetizer. I went for them, followed by a steak meal. As usual it was fantastic! Thanks for taking the time to make your guests feel taken care of and somewhat appreciated.
Obadiah B — Google review
Worst experience ever. Ruined our whole weekend. We checked into a room with no power and a broken air conditioner. We spend $260 for a room with Jacuzzi. It was 30°C, dusty, and dirty. We reported the issue to the front desk, and they said it would be fixed. When we returned and turned on the air conditioner, the power blew out again. We contacted the front desk once more, but they offered no real help—just repeated promises that someone would come. Two hours later, at 11 pm, nobody had shown up. We were forced to spend the night in a hot, dark room with no air conditioning. The service from the front desk was absolutely terrible. Do not book this hotel if you want a decent experience.
Advayth V — Google review
Gross. My work booked this hotel and I’ll be ensuring that they never use it again. Hairballs in the bed. Carpet is smelly. Ancient, noisy wall air conditioner. TV doesn’t turn off, just have to unplug it, walls are beat up. Staff were fine at checkin, and allowed me to change rooms from the main floor, with a view of the industrial parking, to the third floor, which felt safer and was the only reason I even decided to tough it out here for the night.

Sandman Inn was our home away from home due to my husband being in the city for medical reasons. The room was clean with nice new furniture and amenities. When my husband came out of hospital they moved us to a suite for the same medical rate price. Thank you Lucy. You were so polite and accommodating.

Additionally, it provides easy access to Cityplace, the Canada Life Centre, and Winnipeg Square via a skywalk. We were here as a huge group over 50 people for an educational experience. We were served wonderful buffet food three times. The service was exceptional.I would like to mention. Errol was a wonderful customer service representative with us! The front desk staff were extremely friendly and great to deal with easy to check in! The cleaning staff went over and above For us and our rooms were lovely! We had to change our venue at the last minute and this hotel was very accommodating within walking distance of the forks is wonderful and close to many great restaurants and great architecture!

I had to chance to access the fitness facility of this venue as compliments from Holiday Inn that was under renovation. The staff at the front desk was extremely helpful. The fitness facility is good enough. Some older machines and I would have preferred a more robust cable machine to complete a good workout, but this was adequate enough for a few days stays in the city.

Terrible experience — would never stay here again! I usually don’t write reviews, but this place deserves one. The hotel is absolutely disgusting. The room was dirty, there were cockroaches crawling on the floor, and the bed sheets looked and smelled like they hadn’t been changed in weeks. The air was stuffy, and the bathroom was full of mold. The staff were rude and unprofessional — no smiles, no respect, no help at all. When I tried to explain a problem, they just rolled their eyes and walked away. It felt like they didn’t care about guests at all. Honestly, this was one of the worst hotel experiences of my life. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, not even for one night. Save your money, your nerves, and go somewhere — anywhere — else.

very clean up to date hotel. staff is great. my housekeeper rajwinder was amazing: very friendly, and she kept the room looking pristine. never suspected that the room was dirty or that shortcuts were taken. only downside is they dont have cash in the restaurant register, so u cant really pay cash.

Overall nice hotel and very helpful staff. The room was spacious and comfortable. Water was hot and the HVAC worked well. Starbucks located on the property as well. Only downside around the hotel is security concern from people on the street hanging around the building entrance. Security is on property and seemed actively patrolling.
M R — Google review
Have always wanted to stay at the Radisson. But was so disappointed paying over $200 for one night, plus parking(what the helll are you supposed to do with your car) and breakfast. I really wanted to love the place, but it was noisy, and not very clean, the glasses in the washroom still had leftover toothpaste from a previous guest in them. Was told they upgraded us to a newly renovated room, it was nice. As much as I love the idea of not having carpets in hotel rooms, they then need to renovated to add sound barriers. Even way up high the traffic noise was awful, and we could hear all of the rooms around us, flush or shower. The shower was really nice. The staff were all very nice, breakfast was good, and the location was great for us. But I do not plan on ever staying here again and would not recommend it to anyone. Look elsewhere!
Shera S — Google review
I have had a great experience at this hotel. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful for my entire stay. I was in one of the king suite rooms on floor 22. I am definitely the type to inspect a hotel room before I settle in and found the bedding, bathroom, and furniture to be clean and in new condition. I also used the fitness facility, which is certainly a bit outdated, but I don't find that to be a deterrent - it was clean and everything worked! As other reviewers mention, this part of Winnipeg is a bit on the rougher side. I am a female solo traveller so I tend to be extra aware of that sort of thing, but to be honest I didn't find it to be any worse than any of the downtown cores of other major North American cities I've visited. The hotel has security on site as well. The hotel's relative location to other attractions is great. Basically, if you want to stay in downtown Winnipeg, this problem is most likely unavoidable and that's not this particular hotel's fault. Would recommend staying here!
Ria N — Google review
Well, I paid through a third-party my mistake so I didn’t even get the chance to see a room. The young girls hands were tied she could not help me at all. She couldn’t even give me a paper with the label because it was all locked in the office a little more trust in your poor employees would benefit your company. Because I didn’t have a credit card to secure the room I could not get it, but I had the cash in my bank.

I had a wonderful stay at Travelodge Wyndham Winnipeg East! From the moment I arrived, the customer service was exceptional—every staff member I interacted with was friendly, helpful, and went out of their way to make sure I felt welcome. It's rare to find that level of hospitality these days, and it truly made my experience stand out. The highlight of my stay was definitely the pool. It was clean, well-maintained, and the perfect spot to relax after a long day. Whether you're traveling with family or just looking for a peaceful getaway, this place checks all the boxes. Highly recommend and I’ll definitely be back!

Staff at this location are absolutely wonderful. They are kind and very helpful. The location is close to transit and food which were things we needed for our stay. We booked two adjoining rooms for our sports team for the weekend and did find immediately we could not use one of the bathrooms. It was left in an unusable state after some renovations had taken place (sticky floors with boot marks, messy countertops, and dirty shower). We were offered another room, but it only had one bed and could not accommodate those staying, so we opted not to move. Staff did come in quickly to clean the bathroom for us. After the cleaning, we found a bedbug on the shower curtain of one bathroom. We let the front desk staff know immediately and sent an email notification to cleaning staff about it. We received no follow up, so I am unsure of what the facility did to ensure this was a one-off incident. We checked our mattresses, box springs, and along the baseboards of both rooms where bedbugs like to hide and found none. None of the occupants of the two rooms were bitten, so we believe it to have been a one-off, but cannot be sure. I contacted the hotel after our stay to discuss the issues we had, and I heard back from them within 48 hours. The Travelodge was willing to work with us offering either a complimentary stay in the future or a partial refund through the third party booking agent. I contact the third party agent who also contacted the Travelodge, and the Travelodge was no longer willing to provide a partial refund. They claimed to try and offer us accommodation, but we had not received any offers to change rooms after the first night. One cleaning staff member simply asked if we were going to continue our stay at the hotel, and we confirmed we were.
Erin W — Google review
Friendly service. Some workers are great, some are average. One of our rooms smelled like pee, but they gave us another room, so that was good. It might have been nice to get help moving our stuff considering the move was not our fault. The pool area is awesome! The price was great.
Andrea A — Google review
The location is perfect for my needs when I need to run to the store or grab a bite to eat at a restaurant. There’s a few close by maybe not your choices but they’re definitely my favourite places to go. The beds are comfy. The pillows are also comfy. You’ll have a good sleep cleaning stuff come every day and everyone is friendly.

So here we go my honest review. We could hear the neighbours way to much so not good. The air conditioning had no chance cooling the room till morning so very hard falling asleep. The shower was great good size as well the pool was also very good. Breakfast was bad don't need breakfast like that just cereal, fruits, toast, jams but NO warm eggs or bacon or sausage or anything so very dissapointed in breakfast.
Lukas — Google review
Great hotel and staff, hotel feels a little dated but they are working on upgrading. Absolutely no complaints, good breakfast, pool, hot tub and sauna all very good and clean, has an area with lots of tvs, good menu items, some pool tables, food and some slot machines. We used Uber daily and was not an issue getting a ride. Enjoy your stay 😊

The building is pretty much what I expected after seeing the outside. There’s an old fashioned vibe for sure. The rooms were slightly rough around the edges to be completely transparent, but you get what you pay for. That being said, they were in fact kept tidy. I immediately appreciated the water pressure in the shower, and the bed was surprisingly comfortable. overall cool spot!

Great basic hotel to stay at. If it is a stop off as you drive through, this fits the bill perfectly! The staff were lovely, room clean and comfortable beds. One thing to be warned about, your carrying your luggage up the stairs, so if you have a ot of luggage and other stuff, you have been warned. I was there on a motorcycle and they let me park right in front , next to the front doors. So give them points for being accommodating for the bike.. Staff was overall great..!!

Nestled in the picturesque Riding Mountain National Park, Elkhorn Resort Spa & Conference Centre offers a charming rustic-style accommodation with classic rooms and cottages. The resort features a Solstice Spa for a relaxing retreat, a restaurant and bar for dining, and even a golf course for outdoor enthusiasts. During winter, guests can enjoy various activities including dog sled days for an authentic Canadian experience.
Love this place! We come here every year. Restaurant food is great, amenities are great. We love the pool and the spa. The only thing is they have to change the sticks for the pool table at the rec room and make sure the TV’s are working properly, so that guests can enjoy while playing billiards or chilling out at the Rec area. I hope they can also add more outdoor activities for the kids. Otherwise, it is a very relaxing place to go! :)

I must preface my comments by saying I think the time of year we went makes a difference. It was after kids are back in school and summer ended. We were a couple mainly among many retirees. It was quiet and lovely place to stay. We had a king size bed room and it was amazing. It was spacious and clean. The amenities were great a perfect place for rest and relaxation. The only limit was places to eat , you had to leave the premises and go into the town, which was not far away.
J H — Google review
Our room attached to the main building where the front desk and restaurant is, was quite dated; certainly not worth $400+ for the night. There are no thermostats in the room itself and the toilet sounded like it might come off the floor. Late check out was requested when we checked in, but was told we would have to ask the morning of checkout, which is not something I am used to at other hotels. On a positive note, the fridge worked and there was a coffee machine that was functional. Perhaps the cabins are better equipped, but I would steer clear of the rooms attached to the main building
Paul B — Google review
Great resort. Excellent swimming pool and waterslide. Rooms have plates, cutlery, wine glasses, regular glassware, pots and pans, coffee maker, tea kettle, and a dishwasher. Shampoo and conditioner only in the bathroom. Pack like you're camping though. Best to bring food and drink with you, as the local stores evidently have inflated prices. Not many options to purchase liquor. Restaurants and bakeries are all fantastic. Great biking and hiking trails. Golf course is immaculate.
Derek P — Google review
The outdoor facilities are beautiful and the saunas and pools are definitely the highlight. Unfortunately some of the indoor areas already need repair, which feels disappointing for such a new spa. Pricing was also a frustrating experience. Our treatments increased between the time of booking and the day of service. Massage were $40 more and Reikis sessions were $20 more. Staff would not honor the brochure prices we brought and we were not informed of the changes in advance. Customer service overall felt substandard. Staff were not very helpful and the kitchen was slow. For the cost I expected a smoother and more professional experience.
Harland W — Google review
We booked a stay-and-play package and were excited for a relaxing trip. Unfortunately, we found ants in our room (behind the nightstand), and after looking further, more were coming in. We didn't feel comfortable staying. While staff were polite and did provide a refund when we chose to leave, it was disappointing to cut our trip short and miss our second round of golf and spa visit. Cleanliness and after-hours response needs improvement

If you're in search of a luxurious escape, look no further than Ten Spa, perched on the tenth floor of the iconic Fort Garry Hotel. This urban oasis is the result of extensive research into global spa practices, particularly inspired by traditional HAMAM experiences from Germany and Turkey. The owner meticulously trained her staff to blend modern techniques with time-honored treatments, ensuring that every visit feels like a perfect ten.
It was so nice 👍! Lindsay did such a great job! I was totally relaxed after the fifty minute massage. I enjoyed every single minute! The environment is nice and clean. Snacks are simple but healthy. I will come back again!

Incredible experience! Worse each cent spent on it. High-quality service and really pleasant massage. Liked the “silent room” which I was allowed to attend after massage. And massage was really amazing! Can’t even remember last time I had such a relaxing massage.

We had an incredible experience at Ten Spa at the Fort Garry Hotel. From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect — the spa is absolutely stunning, clean, and beautifully designed. The front desk staff was friendly and welcoming, making us feel comfortable right away. We booked the Hamam package for two, and it was truly the best experience — deeply relaxing, rejuvenating, and one of a kind. After our treatment, we enjoyed the quiet room, a peaceful space where guests can unwind post-treatment. Another lovely touch was the complimentary food bar, offering snacks and drinks to enjoy during your visit — a thoughtful detail that added to the overall experience. Ten Spa truly knows how to pamper their guests. We’ll definitely be back next time!

Was not sure what to expect as I have been to several hamam’s in Morocco over the years. Absolutely beautiful and welcoming, staff are very knowledgeable , professional and friendly. A couple suggestions would be to go through the steps during check in and also to have an advance notice that staff and hamam are mixed, certainly not happening in Morocco! Wonderful experience.

I have visited Ten Spa twice and I will absolutely be back. Very high-quality service, friendly employees, and everything is spotless. Also, a bonus is that they are very accommodating for skin sensitivities or scent sensitivities (which I have). The steam room is very clean and smells fresh, and the showers are amazing. I could use the rain shower for hours LOL. They also provide a lot of lotions, face creams, shampoo, conditioner and other toiletries which is great, and unlimited towels (I appreciate this especially as I dropped my towel in the shower the first time I visited) Their snacks are also fresh and it is really nice to see gluten free options as well. I really enjoyed my pedicure, massage and full body facial. The silent room is also great, as I don't particularly want to socialize or hear others after a long, tranquil massage. I feel very relaxed each time I visit, and I am looking forward to booking another treatment soon.

The hamam treatment is quite unique. Was a nice treatment. The message and facial were nothing special for the price you pay. The cost of this spa is insanely expensive for what you get. The treatment rooms were very bland- white walls no decor: felt like a dr.s office. I really think for what you pay, they should do some upgrades at this spa.

Located in the heart of Winnipeg's downtown SHED district, Alt Hotel Winnipeg offers modern and stylish accommodations for both business and leisure travelers. The hotel features contemporary rooms with amenities such as free Wi-Fi, Nespresso coffeemakers, and rainfall showers. Guests can enjoy the convenience of being next door to Bell MTS Place for entertainment options. Additionally, the hotel is within walking distance to various dining, nightlife, and entertainment venues.
It’s a perfect place to stay if you need to be in the downtown area for a few days. All the information you need for your stay is available on their website (like parking for example which you need to pay for). I like that you could check in online (like you would do for a flight) and let them know what time you are arriving. The service is exceptional. We also were very pleased that they were able to accommodate our late check out.
Dionisia R — Google review
The Alt has really nice rooms and has previously been my go-to spot to stay and give my business. I have never encountered any serious problems until my last stay here. I originally booked this room with a government rate, as previously, they have always accepted it. I arrived at the hotel and checked in with no issues. We got settled in, just for me to get a call around 6pm, that they would not be giving me the same rate and I would have to pay $350 plus tax for a room, that I already checked in to. I protested this rate and the individual on the phone said that the best he could do was $269 plus tax. Keep in mind that I booked this hotel room 9 months in advance, and rates have always stayed at $199 plus tax, even when booking previously. Obviously, I was not very happy. I explained how I had already checked in and had no time to look for anything cheaper. After which he responded with (rudely I might add), “well I can go ahead and cancel your reservation then”. Of course, at this point all hotels in the area were fully booked, and I had no option but to pay this amount and stay here. And it is clear that this man was aware of this. I have always heard of some hotel businesses to be shady, in ways that make them more money. But to treat a regular customer like this, knowing they have no options, is taking advantage of us. I will note my friend also booked a hotel here the same night and her price was changed to $350 plus tax. So, it was not just me who got screwed. I used to praise this hotel and recommended it to everyone I could. I will now shout to the rooftops to avoid this place, as I will never stay here again with such awful treatment of me and numerous people this weekend.

I had a wonderful stay at Alt Hotel Winnipeg. The rooms were spotless, modern, and very comfortable, creating a relaxing environment throughout my visit. The overall atmosphere of the hotel is welcoming and stylish, making it a great place to unwind. The staff were exceptionally friendly and went above and beyond to be helpful, which made my experience even more enjoyable. I truly appreciated their warm hospitality. I would definitely recommend Alt Hotel Winnipeg to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable, and friendly place to stay in the city.
Elnaz S — Google review
The hotel itself is nice. The service was okay. Parking was unclear. When I called a lady told me to register the ticket at the front desk and pay $21. But upon arrival nobody seemed to know and just told us to pay at the parking exit, which was $28. Other than that, we had a great view of Canada Life Center. The room was quite unique in a good way, unlike any other room we had. With Browns Social House being right below the hotel, we didn’t have to worry about driving or cabbing anywhere, before our after the Jets game. Huge plus.

It is truly a 3 star hotel without porter or valet parking services. The check in and checkout process were quick. It is an industrial minimalist hotel. The bathroom and mattress are ok! However the police sirens in the middle of nights made it unbearable to sleep! You can hear everything on the street, unfortunately! The nightly room rate is quite high for the type of room! Sorry I do NOT recommend this hotel!

Awesome location. Right in the heart of downtown. There is also a Tim Hortons beside the Hotel. Incase of the car parking. You can park it in the indigo parking and you can directly enter the hotel from the Skywalk. Check with the hotel for the Car parking address. It is behind the hotel in Indigo parking lot. Plenty of car parking available. For 24 hours Car parking it costs about 21$ to be paid at the ALT hotel reception. I loved my luxurious stay.

Came to Winnipeg for business our company uses and professional booking company for our travels. When I asked at the desk about a late checkout I was told to talk to the desk in the morning as it would be taken care of then. Went to the desk in the morning and told they couldn't give me a later check out because they were too busy. Every other hotel that I have ever stayed in could always give you a later check out. How can you come to a city and have to bring you suitcase to your jobsite . When I come back to Winnipeg I will not be staying here and be letting our booking company know not to use this place again.

The Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Winnipeg Airport Manitoba offers an indoor saltwater pool and a waterslide, as well as complimentary breakfast. The hotel is located near the Trans-Canada Highway, making it convenient for travelers.
Days Inn on Berry street is my preferred hotel stay, not only because of the location but because of the staff. They are so helpful, very nice, always have a smile and willing to help in any way and the hotel is so quiet...love that!! The staff always make me feel welcome and a couple even know me! Keep it up staff at Days Inn!! ❤️🙏🏼
Mums W — Google review
First I will say the staff was friendly. But everything is so dirty. The luggage carts were covered in sticky/greasy who knows what. The hot tub was filthy, and the pool not much better. If you’re a coffee drinker, bring your own. The coffee in the breakfast area tastes like they’ve run three of four pots through the same basket. Very weak and flavourless. The towels are very old and missing a lot of the soft material. They don’t smell very fresh either. Noticed several stains on the bed linen. Almost like they don’t use bleach here. There also seemed to be a lot of people just aimlessly shuffling around the parking lot and hanging out in front of the doors smoking, so you get to walk through the cloud to get in the building. I definitely noticed a stark difference between this hotel and other Days Inn’s we’ve stayed at in the past. It felt more like a homeless shelter than a hotel. Would NOT recommend.
Pat P — Google review
Room was nice, roomy. The decor in general is somewhat outdated but not a deal breaker. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was not bad (I’ve had way worse), with a few options. The location itself is near the airport which was what we needed. Saw a few but not many homeless people walking by.
Gil G — Google review
The hotel offers great value. The room and facilities were very good. To the management: I noticed that during the weekend, the breakfast staff were overloaded. I wonder why these hotels, knowing in advance how many people are going to be overnight and have breakfast the next day, don't make any effort to be prepared and deliver a much better experience at breakfast. Long lines, missing items, etc. a struggle for the service team.
Carlos G — Google review
The hotel overall was great, the only problem was the fridge in our room didn't work properly causing us to throw out all our food (pizza, fruits). Unfortunately we put the food in the fridge before bed so we didn't notice it was broken until the morning when everything had already gone bad. Otherwise we had a great experience at the hotel and the pool was always a nice temperature.
Jason P — Google review
This was an ok hotel. The beds were quite comfortable. However, the hotel tried to charge me again for the stay, even though I had prepaid. There is a free breakfast, though note they were unable to make accommodations for dietary restrictions, so it was just eggs and apples for breakfast for me.
Ian L — Google review
We were very disappointed with our experience at this hotel, particularly with the lack of customer service. After checking in at 3 PM, we left for a few hours, only to return and find that someone had entered our room and opened the hide-a-bed. When we contacted the front desk for an explanation, we were repeatedly given the runaround and transferred between three different staff members across shift changes. Each promised to review the security footage and follow up with us — but no one ever did. The room itself was also uncomfortable. It was very hot, as the air conditioning in the living room area was not functioning properly. Additionally, we found dirty dishes stored in the cupboards, which raised further concerns about the room’s cleanliness. The hotel's only drink vending machine was completely empty, and the pool's chlorine levels were excessively high, causing all the children in the pool to cough. The beds were not comfortable, and despite requesting extra blankets and pillows several times, we ended up receiving one. Overall, our stay was disappointing, and we would not recommend this hotel.
Katlynn B — Google review
Extremely disappointed in how this hotel handled a basic lost-and-found situation. I left two jackets behind and called within two hours of checkout. Staff confirmed the jackets had been found and assured me they would be held for pickup. When I later arranged to have them picked up, the hotel claimed they were no longer there. No explanation, no resolution, and no sense of accountability. This is a complete failure in customer service and property handling. I followed up promptly and did everything right. The hotel did not. If you value your belongings or expect even the most basic level of professionalism, think twice before staying here.

The Grand Winnipeg Airport Hotel is a modern 4-star hotel located directly across from the James A. Richardson International Airport, making it convenient for travelers. The contemporary rooms are equipped with free Wi-Fi, iPads, mini-refrigerators, and Keurig coffee machines. Guests can enjoy the trendy on-site restaurant and take advantage of the fitness area. The hotel also offers a 24-hour front desk and daily housekeeping services.
What a joy to spend the final part of our vacation in a fabulous hotel within walking distance to the airport. Our tour ended in the hotel adjacent and connected to the hotel, so when we stopped by before 1 PM and we’re able to secure a room right away, it just added to the great experience we had at the Grand. The room that was available was right next to the elevator, but we didn’t hear too much noise from other guests going down the hallway. The bathroom, was probably the best part of the room and the best bathroom of all the hotels we had stayed in. The deep sunken tub could accommodate three people and still have enough water to rise up to one’s neck. It was definitely a full body immersive experience. The beds were super comfortable as were the extra pillows. The only slight problem was how well the thermostat would work. But I wouldn’t give it negative stars because the beds were super warm.

Very short walk to the airport. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Room was clean, bathroom was spacious with a floor to ceiling glass shower, Starbucks coffee pods were a nice touch. Overall I had a great experience.

I travel a lot and was in Winnipeg for one night recently and stayed at the Grand Hotel At the Winnipeg airport. I was quite impressed with the location and the hotel itself, and the staff upon checking in. Also, upon checking out, the staff was very courteous. Unfortunately, when I was getting ready to check out in the morning, I sat on the end of my bed to put my shoes on, and there were some very disturbing stains on the bed, and I took pictures of them and told the night clerk About them when I was checking out. He was quite concerned about it and said he was sending the Bellman up to take a look at it. I had to be through security and customs so I left at 4:15 AM and sent an email to the general manager of the hotel to express my concern about what I saw and had taken pictures of Without so much as a phone call or anything, he responded back to me, saying that he personally checked, and there were no stains there And suggested that I was a liar. He completely retracted it in another email. I have stayed in thousands and thousands of hotels in the last 40 years of work travel and have never experienced anything like that and only once have I ever filed a complaint about a room other than this one. The hotel is great and so the staff it’s just unfortunate that one person could not look into something enough and admit that there may have been an error. My only recommendation would be to check all the covers and sheets before you check into that hotel.

I booked on Expedia. It doesn’t mention anything about a parking fee. That was a surprise. I also don’t feel safe in the room. There’s no safety bolt. Or chain. So if hotel messes up rooms anyone can come in. I’ve seen this happen in other hotels

Nestled in the picturesque Pembina Valley of southwestern Manitoba, Holiday Mountain Resort is a charming destination that offers both ski-in cabins and cozy hotel rooms. Just a short drive from Winnipeg, this resort boasts 11 thrilling runs with an impressive vertical drop, making it perfect for skiers and snowboarders alike. Visitors rave about the friendly staff who are dedicated to ensuring everyone has a fantastic experience, especially beginners who receive patient guidance as they gear up for their adventures on the slopes.
Really sweet people especially the guy at the top of the bunny hill where the magic carpet stops. Such a sweetheart. The staff here are literally the best from the moment we walked in they were full of happy and genuine smiles. The food was also really good and had no problems, and the kitchen staff are the sweetest people ever they are full of jolly compliments which lighten up my dad. I can go on and on about how amazing it was here. Will sure visit again.💖

First time skiing in 30 years this weekend at Holiday Mountain and we had a blast! The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, everyone from the bar staff to rentals, entire kitchen crew and admin were accommodating and eager to help out. At no time did we feel like we didn't know where to go or feel out of place or where do we go next. Meal pricing was very fair with a good variety of eats and drinks. The unrenovated cabins were a little dated, but clean, comfortable and had all the amenities (mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, lots of blankets, toiletries) needed for a weekend visit. Ski instructor (Reese) was patient, informative and inspired confidence in our abilities. This will mark the first of many visits to your resort! Keep up the good work!

We stayed for two nights, skied two days, and had a wonderful time! Our A frame cabin was warm and comfy, and the food at the lodge was tasty. However, what really sets this place apart is the staff. I simply cannot say enough great things about the owners and staff. We had a couple of issues (of our own making, not the fault of the resort), and everyone went well beyond any expectation to offer their help. The patience and kindness shown to us was beyond exceptional. I felt like everyone we spoke with genuinely wanted to be there and the atmosphere was almost like a family based on the interactions we observed between staff members, and everyone gave us (as guests) the feeling of being warmly welcomed. So, if you want a fun day of skiing (or snowboarding) or a weekend adventure, you should absolutely visit Holiday Mountain! It was my son's first time skiing, and thanks to the experience we had, he definitely wants to go back! And since getting him away from his screens is normally nearly impossible, this is in itself a huge compliment to the establishment... :)

I had the most amazing time at Holiday Mountain! From the moment I arrived, I was blown away by the welcoming atmosphere. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to help with any questions or provide tips on the best runs. The slopes were in perfect condition, offering a variety of terrain for all skill levels, and I especially loved the well-maintained trails for both skiing and snowboarding. The resort itself is beautifully set up, with cozy facilities and delicious food options to refuel after a day on the hill. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced skier, there's something for everyone here. I also loved the relaxed, family-friendly vibe—it felt like the perfect place to make lasting memories. Overall, my experience at Holiday Mountain Ski Resort was unforgettable, and I can't wait to return! Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great ski getaway in Manitoba!

I am so happy that this historic/nostalgic place has re-opened! Although i had never been before i talked to many people with fond childhood memories of this community landmark. I went with my beginner friend and the staff were so patient and helpful with getting us all geared up and ready to ski. The new management has done a great job in reviving a beloved place and seems to have a commitment to constant and consistant improvement, which is a revival project that does take time. A very user friendly place and we totally enjoyed our afternoon there capped off by the best bowl of hot homemade soup and cold drinks. Keep up the good work Holiday Mountain and we will see you again in February!

Lake Winnipeg, the largest lake in Manitoba, is a serene and expansive destination that attracts visitors with its scenic beaches and cottages. It offers superb fishing opportunities, including ice fishing in winter. Tour operators provide unique experiences such as overnight ice fishing adventures where guests can sleep and dine next to their fishing hole. The lake is popular for catching Walleye, Largemouth Bass, Yellow Perch, Carp, and more.
It is such a beautiful lake! I had a chance to work on a research cruise (NAMAO) for two weeks and enjoyed every moment of it! I feel so lucky to explore almost all of this lake. I wrote a poem to show my respect and love for Lake Winnipeg: Lake Winnipeg I gaze into the horizon And to the woolen and snowy clouds O silvery-tinted lake How serene you are? How do you dance into existence, Flowing, Swirling, How do you swallow your angry waves, How do you engulf this world within yourself, And yet remain so calm? O lake of grand desires And small wishes, How do you watch the birds from afar when you cannot walk? How do you welcome the wind, That has traveled thousands of kilometers to reach here, And still remain tranquil? I have seen you in turmoil and joy, I have seen you drawn towards the skies with cresting waves, And today, how are you so tranquil? O lonely lake, Where will you find yourself? And where will you go to sleep? In your dreams, do you see the reflection of the moon? Or the silver-red fish that haven't reached home? In your dreams, is there a nameless ship, That opens your waves, Touches your heart, And its people gaze upon you, And dream dreamy dreams? They dream of you, O silvery-tinted lake, Dreams of you with thousands of waves, With thousands of colors, With thousands of fish swirling around you. O lake! O! How, How are you so calm?

Lake Winnipeg can be a place of contrasts. The sunsets are the best. At the water you might think you were on the ocean. But with the relative shallow depth overall a slight wind can drive up the waves very quickly. Keeping close to shore usually a good idea.

Nestled just a short 15-minute drive from downtown Winnipeg, Springhill Winter Park is the perfect destination for winter enthusiasts looking to enjoy some outdoor fun. With a vertical drop of 150 feet, this charming ski area features four lifts, including a quad chair lift and various tow options, catering to all skill levels. Families can delight in the terrain park, tubing runs, and dedicated bunny hill designed for beginners.
It’s the perfect place to learn to ski or snowboard if you're a beginner. The slopes are ideal for both beginner and intermediate levels. The indoor space is spacious, and they have a cafeteria with several affordable food options. It’s a great weekend plan for families with children, who can enjoy the snow for hours. They also offer hourly lessons that must be booked online. I recommend going in the morning, as there are fewer people and the sunlight is better for safe skiing.
Pilar S — Google review
We visited for tubing, but the experience was disappointing. The lift didn’t work for the first 30 minutes, and the slope didn’t feel safe - one person even flipped over after hitting the wall at the bottom. The skiing and snowboarding areas were overcrowded, and the slope felt too small. Even the restaurant was frustrating. It was packed, and we were asked to move from the sofa area because they were going to do some renovations in the middle of the day. However, no one had bothered to close off the area before opening, and at the time we were asked to move, there were no other available seats and we just left back home. The pastry and alcohol were so bad that we didn’t even finish them. Overall, this place was a huge letdown. Maybe I’ll give it another try for snowboarding and skiing, but I wish I had a better experience - especially since it’s so close to the city and there’s no real alternative without a long drive.

If you are planning to do outdoor activities in winter like skiing and snowboarding it is best place goes to Winnipeg. For beginners, I would suggest to book classes ahead of time it was difficult for us to figure out things as first time ski after watching all youtube videos. There is a place to rent shoes, ski , and helmets. Overall, a good place.

I was extremely disappointed with my visit to Restaurant t at this tiny hill. The food quality was shockingly poor—it lacked flavor, freshness, and any semblance of care in preparation. And dirty everywhere! To make matters worse, one staff member stood out for all the wrong reasons. Their behavior was unprofessional, their language was unpleasant, and it was clear they lacked any service training. It’s disheartening to see such a lack of respect for customers. A ski resort restaurant should offer a welcoming and enjoyable experience, but this fell far short. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and invests in training their staff and improving the quality of their offerings.
Ben D — Google review
If skiing isn't your thing I would highly recommend tubing here. The 2 slopes are well planned out. At the top of the hill it is flat, which makes lining up a comfortable experience instead of having to fight against gravity while holding a tube (experienced this in Banff and it was a nightmare). The staff are also very friendly and accommodating.

Buffalo Point Resort is a destination suitable for all ages, including children. Regardless of where you choose to stay, your kids will be reluctant to leave. The resort is surrounded by picturesque white sandy beaches and provides some of the finest walleye fishing opportunities.
Our family had a great experience at Buffalo Point. The staff were helpful. Cabin was very clean. View was incredible. We're definitely coming back!

The food is absolutely terrible. Price is rediculous for what you get. Fries tasted like the oil was 3 years old. I will never go back. McDonald’s bun for a 30.00 hamburger.

Our Cabin was quite worn down and was missing some amenities that would have been helpful. We had coffee but no coffee filters. A BBQ but no utensils to use with it. No paper towels or napkins. AC didn’t work very well at all. There was a hole in the drywall. Sheets and towels were very clean and it’s still reasonable if you want to be lakefront. A quick refresh of these cabins would make all the difference.
TravelTeach — Google review
Disappointing cabin rental. To start beware as rates are subject to change. We booked close to a year in advance and they increased our rate less than two weeks before our reservation. Price for two nights went from $440 to $560. Management were contacted and did not seem to care. Upon arrival our cabin was mostly clean but had about 20 dead mosquitos on the couch. Our cabin had broken / partial blinds in the main area and a chair in the veranda area that had multiple cigarette burns in it. The kitchen barely had anything in it and was ill equipped, no cooking utensils or spatulas. The water temperature in our cabin was set to scalding hot. Our kids almost burned themselves using the sink. We had a picnic table outside our cabin and when four adults sat on it the whole thing swayed and almost collapsed. After looking under it we realized it was missing bolts. These cabins are getting run down and need some attention. The location is beautiful and the beach nearby is great, but the poorly managed cabins are not worth renting.
James E — Google review
Honestly pretty disappointed. The cabin was nice and clean but that's about the only upside we experienced. The restaurant was only serving soup, sandwiches, fries and poutine our whole visit. The website states Kayak and paddle board rentals are available, however, apparently they are no longer available. Website also states there is a chip truck which was closed. One staff member suggested a trail walk "although the trails aren't really kept up" . I asked the main desk for a pamphlet on activities to do or a trail map and they didn't have anything. We went golfing one day. The course is nice but the game was so slow and took us nearly 5 hours to complete (with a cart) because it was so booked up. The beach was totally covered in water because of flooding which is obviously out of their control but it just added to the disappointment of the trip. Overall for the price it's definitely not worth it and we will not be returning. I think this place has so much potential but it's just not hitting the mark. They are essentially running a scam here. I had to call in to book the stay and no one told me about any of these items or the restaurant when I booked.

We booked Lakefront cabin they were good and view was magnificent but than the pillows and bed weren’t that comfortable as expected. The worst part was they had some weird rules allowing only 4 adults for a 6 people cabin but u can have kids with you which didn’t make sense at all when you are the same set of people staying, even after the restrictions were lifted. The rest of the cabins and resorts in Manitoba did not have such rule. You will find hell lot of bugs outside the cabin so be prepared.

Great day trip out here for some skiing in. Lift ticket and rentals were easy to navigate. Team was friendly and quick to help. Amongst a busy chalet it was great to see the team dialled in. Skiing was a little icy that day but overall a great hill to get out and ski or board down. Runs for everyone.

Awesome experience each visit. This is our third winter in a row and had a great experience as always! The lift attendants were awesome, super patient, providing encouragement and great instruction for first time t-bar and rope users. The downhill and Nordic trails were beautifully groomed and the tube hill was a huge hit. And the food… sooooo good.

We had a great two days skiing and tubing here! We tooks family lesson before skiing which got my daughter skiing for the fiest time. We then skied the rest of the day. The next day we went tubing which was so fun! Loved that the tubes and us get towed up the hill to save energy. We had two lunches at the trails end cafe and both were delicious and filing.

I always have a great time coming out. The staff are great, the food is delicious and snowboarding is always pretty good. They've done a great job this year with limited snow and weird weather. I'll keep coming back year after year.

You can tell they put care and love into their little resort and work with what they got. Good food, good park setup even if you have to walk a bit to get to it, and friendly staff.

Love this place! Cute, quaint, not overly busy. The food is pretty tasty. No chairlifts, just T bar and Tow ropes. Little terrain park. Small gift shop on site. Licensed. Tubing run is pretty fun.

Nestled on the beautiful shores of Lake Athapapuskow, Bakers Narrows Lodge & Conference Center is a hidden gem in the heart of Northwest Manitoba, just a stone's throw from Flin Flon. This unique drive-to fishing lodge combines the charm of rustic wilderness with modern comforts. Guests can enjoy cozy cabins equipped with all the necessary amenities and indulge in delicious meals prepared by a full-time chef at the stunning main lodge.
3rd time to Bakers Narrows Lodge and same experience. Cabins are rustic but adequate and come with required amenities. Only ones missing is an oven and access to ice. Breakfasts are good and hearty and the conference center is spacious for hosting Lodge guests. Never been part of the booking process but there have been issues with processing our group every yr ( 2 Cabins with 8 guys ). Now to the fishing which is the best part. Guided by Daryl Gilbert @darylgilbertoutdoors for all 3 yrs that I have come and he has been what any angler from green to a veteran needs to succeed. Our group has a master angler catch every year under his direction and this yr was my turn. With 11 total days of on the ice experience under my belt Daryl talked me through surfacing a 43" Lake Trout. Thanks again Daryl. The lake itself and surrounding area is gorgeous and will definitely be coming back.

This was my first time at Baker’s. It was a great experience. The staff was outstanding and exceeded my expectations. We were guided by Cory Burke. He went over and above to make the most of our days out fishing. I can’t say enough good things about him. He’s a hard worker who does everything possible to make your trip the best it could be! My son said fishing with Cory was the highlight of his trip.

Bakersnarrows lodge was seriously a trip of a lifetime for me and my fiancé. we drove 30+ hours to get there, we had some complications on the way with our trailer and bakers was kind enough to work with us and push our date so we could still come. We couldn’t have been more pleased with our stay. The cabin was super clean/cozy, the food was excellent at the lodge, and the staff was absolutely amazing. Ryan was our fishing guide and he was just all around a great dude, not just great at fishing! We definitely plan on coming back, it’s 100% worth the drive. Thank you so much for having us!

My friend Ana and I spent a week open water fishing with Bakers Narrows Lodge and it was INCREDIBLE. From sight fishing giant pike to vertical jigging lakers from 100 feet, it was an action packed week. We highly recommend this destination to anyone who loves to fish!
Nicole S — Google review
Food was great, cabins were very nice and clean. We booked the adventure package. Bakers Narrows called the week before and said everything was open as the wildfires that were in the area were contained. We arrived and found out our guide was not available and the atv trip to another lake was not possible. We were assigned a part time guide out of the office. Needless to say, we had a great 1st morning fishing on the fly out lake but the rest of the trip, it definitely was not the same as compared to what we heard from other guests with the full time guides. We had the extra day that was supposed to be unguided but was guided and we assumed that was to replace the atv trip that we did not get. We asked on our checkout to make sure everything was taken care of bill wise and were told yes. We got home and discovered the last guided day was charged to our credit card. We called the office manager, explained the whole trip and she said she would check into and get back with us. We never heard anything back. This could be a great trip but I would suggest anyone going that they call ahead of time to confirm their guide and package options are still available.
Mike A — Google review
I’ll start by saying my experience may be unique here but I would like to give others a heads up on what to expect. Booking was easy and the lady was very accommodating, after booking however I never got any confirmation. I phoned back several times and left an email as my name has been misspelled in the past. Never got any confirmation until the day we arrived of via text which let me know we needed to check in between a small window in the day. I met the owner when I got there and he took me to the office for payment. He seemed like a very down to earth guy but also very busy. We started to unload our sleds and pack up for 2 nights in the ice castle. We were warned very thoroughly about a couple items that the game wardens were looking into and one of them was to tell them we were not sleeping in the ice castle. I was completely put back by this as we were paying a premium ($600/night) to stay there. After we arrived at the ice castle we realized that there was no running water or bathroom and would have to make do without for a couple days. This would have been a non-issue if we had just been properly notified. The following morning our guide met us out on the lake, we had some minor trouble getting one of our sleds started due to the cold weather overnight. The guide went back and got a booster pack and we were off fishing. All is good! Once on the big lake our guide went off the main trail and soon became heavily stuck in the flood water. We spent the next hour or so getting him out, after he was exhausted and one person in our party was soaked from the knees down in ice cold water. At this point I had to set up my ice shelter in an attempt to get him warm. The guide also had an ice shelter and heater but did not set it up for the individual who was soaking wet due to the guides mishap. After setting up the shelter our guide sat on his sled and watched us drill holes, he did not have any set lines of his own and used all of my gear. Again, a non issue if I would have been given some advance notice but that’s why we hired a professional. Eventually I had to make the call to get our party member back to the ice castle to get dry clothes. We started the trek back and our guide went first, the last sled out got stuck and our guide was gone. As a team we got it out and headed back to the ice castle where we met up with our guide. We fished the remainder of the day near the ice castle, during this time our guide actually mocked us for getting stuck on the way back and poked fun at the individual who got soaking wet trying to get him out. We are easy going guys and there’s a time and place for that and it’s not when you pay $400 for a guide, only to act as a mule for him. Despite all of this we still tipped the guide as I feel it’s customary. I know conditions can lead to poor days on the ice and things happen that are out of everyone’s span of control, but it is the guide’s responsibility to manage that as best possible. This trip has been a few years in the making and we all left feeling underwhelmed. When you checkout of the ice castle no one comes to help move your gear back to the lodge so a couple trips are necessary. After checkout they send you a text to leave a review, which I did. I received what looks to be an automated response depending on your rating but never heard back from anyone at the lodge. In 2 days we spent over $1800 at the resort and after the trip was over they charged an additional $60 to my credit card without any prior notification or explanation. Just a quick phone call would have went a long way at any point after the trip. Sorry for the long/poor review, I know this isn’t a reflection of everyone’s experience at Bakers Narrows Lodge. All the best.

Have had a fabulous time here. Rooms were very clean, kitchen was very nicely updated, and had clean pool for our family to use. It's a little bit of a walk to the beach, but we could do it with 2 toddlers and 2 babies in about 5-10 minutes. The location made it really quiet and private feeling. We would highly recommend this resort

Hello, We had a great time at the Mooswa cabins. Everything was clean, check in/out easy and AC was on. The person at the office very helpful and knowledgeable. The only thing that lowered the score was that the pool had to be closed a couple of times (due to sanitary problems). Thanks for your hospitality. Juan & Paulina

Beautiful resort with many upgrades. The suite we were in was very spacious with two bedrooms and two baths as well as a pull out couch. The shower had great pressure and the other bathroom had a huge jacuzzi tub. The kitchen was perfect with everything you’d need and a dishwasher as well so you’re not having to do dishes while away on vacation. There was a BBQ and fire pits available. The pool was just renovated and was very clean and refreshing. The beach, shops and restaurants were a short walk or bike ride from the resort. The owners and staff were wonderful and we look forward to our stay again next summer.

We stayed in 34B walkout suite with my husband, brother in law and sister in law and our 10 month old son. It is so beautifully renovated, nicely tucked away with lots of privacy from the other cabins. 2 bathrooms was great. Everything in the suite was so clean, we were so impressed. It also was nicely stocked with towels, dishes, toaster, etc. Everything we needed. I went in the office unsure if we had to "check in", was greeted by the nicest lady. She was very welcoming. Gave us wristbands for the pool. The pool was nice and clean, we enjoyed it so much. We even got to meet other awesome guests, a group of ladies staying in 34 above us. They loved our baby and were worried they'd disturb us by their suite being being above us, but we honestly didnt hear them at all, very good sound proofing. This was our first time at Moosawa and we definitely want to come back every year. Thanks for a great stay.

I am very disappointed in this resort. My daughter booked a room for a wedding and things changed. She cancelled the room and was charged $75. The room was booked for Sept. the resort was given over 5 months notice to cancel. We were told it was because there was so much paper work to cancel. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. To get paid $75 to click a couple of buttons to credit a credit card back. Will NEVER stay at this resort.

Had a great weekend out here, and they were able to host a family reunion and accommodate 70 of us, including a few pets. The A-Frame places were really quaint and cute and great for a couple or 2 couples. We were in a slightly more dated cottage above a conference room. It was a bit older in style but fit 6 of us really well, and had everything we needed. Some of the larger places are really new and VERY nice inside with gas Fireplaces, new floors and really comfortable furniture. It was great here for the weekend for all of us to meet up and visit. Would definitely stay here again, and it was VERY easy to walk into town and the shops and lake from here.

One thing that always bugged me about the Whiteshell is that there isn't enough public access, picnic areas, public docks, or places to shore fish from. Unless of course you access a campground, which I don't think the average day tripper would care for. Pretty much every lake is surrounded by cottages with not much public access. Most of the area is better suited to cottage country and roudy boaters. Has lot's of potential but needs better infrastructure to utilize the vast area properly.

Really enjoyed our 3 night stay. Ken was very friendly and accommodating. He is very knowledgeable about the fishing on his lake and is a great resource. The cabin was exactly what we needed. A place to charge our equipment and a bed to sleep . I was surprised to find so many amenities like sugar, coffee, towels, shampoo and a fully stocked kitchen.

I recently stayed at the Evergreen cabin at The Pas and had a wonderful experience. The cabin was cozy and well-maintained, offering a peaceful retreat. If you're traveling from Saskatchewan, there is an approximately 80 km gravel road before entering Manitoba. Additionally, be prepared for mosquitoes at night if you plan on cooking outdoors. Overall, a four-star stay!

Cabins were good. Overpaid for the owner to guide who dropped us in the middle of nowhere with a tiny fillet of sucker fish and no chum. Not a mark. Did not check on us or try to make things right, and he did not prechum the area as agreed and charged our group $650. 🤔 I'm in the wrong profession.

One of the best festivals hands down. Unlike most, which are basically a bunch of concerts in one place, WFF puts a few artists together in jam session style leading to collaboration of one of a kind songs that have both never been heard before and will never happen again.
Wandering B — Google review
This past weekend I was so very excited to attend my first ever Winnipeg Folkfest. It is surprising that this 30 year old, bike riding, nature loving, organic eating, recycling enthusiast has never been to the famed magical community in the middle of the prairies. My expectations were high and that may be partially why I was so utterly disappointed by my experience. Don’t get me wrong the music, the food and the tarp neighbours we met were great but I was hard pressed to find the friendly welcoming atmosphere I had been told about in most of the volunteers I encountered. There were quarter-hearted slightly hungover welcoming crews, information desk people who told me that the festival opens at 9am when clearly the grounds opened at 10, and over zealous gate person who would not let me into the Festival campground to drop off my young nephew after the Sunday night show. I was told that it might get pretty rowdy so to make sure I got a space in the quieter section. My fiancee, who’s closest experience with folk music is a picture of a ukulele in the living room assumed that this meant buying a Quiet Campground pass, which he did way back in February. Our lives got very busy and it wasn’t until the day we arrived at Folkfest that we realized there was a huge difference between them. Quiet camping is over 4km away from the festival grounds and has a 11pm noise restriction and Festival Camping is adjecent to the Festival grounds and animated with art installations, additional food vendors, jam sessions etc. When I tried to talk to the customer services person, she looked at me with a confused face and judgementally asked how I could possibley make that mistake. In my experience I would say the Folkfest isn’t just one of Manitoba’s biggest outdoor festivals but also its biggest insider club. You’ve got to know someone who knows someone or have been going since being in diapers. If you’re new and a little unsure, it’s a crapshoot.

If you're in search of an authentic northern winter adventure, look no further than Mystery Mountain Winter Park. Nestled just 22 kilometers north of Thompson, Manitoba, this remote winter wonderland is a haven for thrill-seeking skiers and snowboarders alike. With 18 diverse ski runs catering to all skill levels, plus a half-pipe and dedicated tobogganing area, there's something for everyone.
As river valley ski hills go, this one is fantastic! It is volunteer run, by many dedicated individuals. Thompson gets a good accumulation of snowfall per annum. Boasting four surface lifts, there is terrain for everyone. If you find yourself in Thompson in the winter over the weekend, get out here.
OBJay — Google review
Fun little hill. If you time the snow right, it can be a blast! There's very few people on the hill which is amazing. Upgrading from the T-bar to a chair would make a big difference here. It was $80 for a snowboard/boot rental and lift ticket for a day. Only open on the weekends.
Dustin S — Google review
It is always fun to visit this park every winter season. From Thompson, MB, it is only about 35-45 minutes drive depending on road conditions. It is a well maintained, family-friendly place where young and old can hang out and enjoy snow boarding, skiing, and sledding. They are able to rent out if you don't have the gears, or just wanting to try them out. There is also an available coach. There is a very warm lounge as well that everyone can rest and keep warm. It may be not as fancy nor challenging as ski hills in BC, but it sure is a good place to start training and have a great time!
Elai I — Google review
Thompson's Mystery Mountain is more like a very large hill compared to actual mountains. However, taken into context of the relatively flat Province of Manitoba, it very much is a mountain. There are a number of runs to fit a variety of levels and comfort, depending on your experience. They also have an area featuring rails and ramps for those who like to grab some air with their board. At the Chalet and Polar Lounge, you can rent equipment or kick back and enjoy a bubbly beverage of your choice. On our trip, they had a fire pit going outside, making it easier to grab a quick break without having to remove your equipment. A couple of notes to consider: this location only takes cash. This was a bit restrictive when it came to wanting to stay afterwards and unwind with a beverage. Also, unless you are going to explore all of the runs, expect your experience to be only a couple of hours versus the whole day. Staff are friendly and helpful which is a definite bonus.

Love this hill. A lovely winter day spent up here leaves you with a smile on your face, some sore muscles, and great memories... The new chalet is lovely. The staff is friendly, kind, and efficient.
Susan C — Google review
We brought our school to Thunderhill today and had an excellent experience. All of the equipment that I pre-submitted was ready for our students to use as soon as we arrived to the hill. When we got there one of their representatives came onto the bus to explain the procedure to quickly gather their equipment and get their lift tickets. I had some students that didn't completely fill in their information so they had to get fitted for equipment on site and that was done quickly and efficiently. Lessons were provided for all students that we identified as beginners as well (and the instructors double checked after the lesson to see if anyone was missed). The chalet is beautiful and well set up. If you haven't been in the last couple years it is brand new and at the bottom of the hill now. The food in the canteen was home made and tasted excellent. They had a full menu available with a variety of options (I highly recommend the nachos and chili). All of the staff there were friendly, patient with our kids, and great to deal with. There is a nice variety of runs there, both in difficulty and type of terrain on the trail. I would highly recommend coming here for a class ski trip or with a family or group of friends (I also came here around Christmas and we all really enjoyed ourselves). They are also planning to install a "magic carpet" to make it easier for young kids to get up a run while they're learning to ski. Otherwise they run two T-bar lifts that are easy to use. We're already planning to bring our students back here for next year's ski trip.

When visiting Winnipeg, one of the must-experience activities is catching a game by the Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club. As one of Canada's seven NHL teams, they bring an electrifying atmosphere to every match at Canada Life Centre. The hockey season runs from October through April, featuring over 40 home games that promise high energy and excitement. Fans create an unforgettable experience regardless of the game's outcome, making it a fantastic outing for sports enthusiasts.
Went to see a professional NHL hockey game and what better team to go see but the Winnipeg Jets vs Utah hockey club. Go Jets Go

Terrible customer service. Their app is needlessly complicated. It's no surprise demand is fading and that Winnipeg finishes dead last in player polla Bad product and worse customer service.

What a great arena. The energy was amazing, prices reasonable and seats all had a great view.

The Manitoba Marathon is a highly anticipated annual event that showcases the province's vibrant sporting culture. Known for its welcoming atmosphere, this marathon stands out as it was one of the first major road races to resume after the pandemic, drawing enthusiastic participants and supporters alike. Runners are treated to an exhilarating experience with plenty of water stations along a mostly flat and fast course, making it ideal for both seasoned athletes and newcomers.
Fantastic road race! So many supporters along the route, giving so much energy to runners. Tons of water stations. The energy running into the stadium to finish the race is amazing! And they even call your name over the sound system! Incredible. Thanks organizers and volunteers!

The Manitoba Marathon is an exceptional event and was the first big road race to return after COVID. Yesterday they made a difficult decision and are being unfairly criticized and harassed as a result. Please keep in mind that leading up to Sunday the forecast also called for rain and clouds which obviously never happened.

Some how reviews have been deleted in the past. My last review was of a higher rating, but now it's lower. It's sad that people in Manitoba think this is the pinnacle of a road race in the province. It's used as a charity and a way to fill the pockets of organizers and Sport Manitoba. After so many years, this race still has not evolved. This race needs new vision and energy. Tried to give the Executive Director some feedback, she just walked away. Classy. FYI. If all the races start on race day, the Race itself gets the insurance coverage. That's why they started the race when they knew they shouldn't have.

Just a complete shitshow - the 2022 race was cancelled about 80 minutes in due to extreme heat and humidity. While that was likely the correct decision, the extreme conditions were forecast well in advance and there was zero reason to not cancel / postpone the race a few days prior rather than abandoning all the runners on the course in this ridiculous manner. I will continue to run elsewhere rather than support my hometown race.
Richard D — Google review
Thanks for wasting my time and everyone else's time, while also putting everyone in danger. The forecast was known well in advance, why bother bringing everyone there just to cancel it halfway through without telling the runners? Will not be running this race again.
Matt W — Google review
It is below than poor organization. I will never ever will participate in it. It looks like organizers changed the date from September 4 to September 5 for the full marathon and event did not sweat to notify people. Well done - ruin people plans 🤦🏻

Drums at 7:00am... Blocking people in their parking lots. Wow... talk about zero respect for the general public.
Victor B — Google review
Awesome! The volunteers are top notch...the course is sweet as it is mostly flat and fast

Camping cabin
Nestled just outside Riding Mountain National Park, Fiddlehead Cabin is a charming retreat that has earned its place among Manitoba's most unique accommodations. Open throughout the year, this whimsical cabin features an enchanting outdoor sauna and a delightful screened-in deck that offers breathtaking 180-degree views of a vibrant wildflower meadow and expansive spruce forest. With numerous hiking and biking trails at your doorstep, it’s an ideal escape for nature lovers seeking tranquility away from the summer crowds.
The Fiddlehead Cabin has been my happy place and perfect getaway in all seasons for over 15 years. Originally owned and operated as part of Crooked Mountain Cabins, Cathy and Linda have sold the rest but retained the most beautiful and secluded cabin - the Fiddlehead! Always clean, with every detail thought through for a comfortable stay, the Fiddlehead hosts mostly visitors who return again and again. If you can land a stay in between them, there’s a good chance you’ll join them for years to come. There’s a two km walking/snowshoeing trail from the cabin door and through the woods, a private sauna, and a beautiful view from both the screened in and open porches. It’s far enough away from the park and any other cabins to be peaceful and quiet. It’s close enough to Riding Mountain National Park to enter via the main entrance at Onanole or via the beautiful Rolling River Road in about 20 minutes. In the summer hummingbirds come right to the feeders and flowers on the porch. Year round the resident great gray owl is often seen too. A great destination for birders and nature lovers. I really can’t say enough.
