Restaurant
Deer + Almond, located at 85 Princess St., is a trendy restaurant known for its globally inspired small plates, cocktails, and craft brews. Chef Mandel Hitzer's culinary skills have earned the restaurant a spot on Canada's 100 Best list multiple times since 2015. The menu features an array of unique dishes with unexpected ingredient combinations from various regions around the world, such as fried potato salad with nori and Arctic char with beet gnocchi.
The tasting menu was balanced yet creative - but the friendly service was the standout. I was on a solo date and the team was so incredibly friendly, sat me at the bar with them and chatted with me in between other customers, and described every item on the tasting menu so I felt good about my choices. The bison tartare was fresh and phenomenal, the cauliflower was smoky and citrusy, and the cod was so comforting. I finished with a tea made by a group of locals and the pecan carrot cake which was a cross between carrot cake and sticky toffee pudding, it seemed - decadent. Thank you for such a lovely evening!

First time visit. Have been excited about coming, for a long time. We had a reservation. The ambiance was nice, the restaurant was busy. I loved the serving ware. The pottery drinking mugs were my favourite. The service was very good. Parking was easy. The bathrooms are not labeled. I incorrectly assumed they were gender neutral, and (as a male) thought it was great to have early accessible feminine hygiene products…. but I later found out the bathroom on the left was men’s (urinals!) and I had incorrectly gone into the women’s. Oops. My visit started poorly, but ended in an almost great way. I ordered a El Niño, which is zero proof. It was also zero taste. Pretty much a flavoured water on ice. Raw Venison and Grilled Strawberries. This was a miss. The venison itself was quite good, but the presentation was not appetizing. The fiddleheads were crunchy but boring. Everything had an overpowering smoked flavour. Albacore Tuna. Melt in your mouth. This was really nice. Manitoba Green Back Pickerel. I’m not sure why I picked two seafood dishes. The pickerel had a similar melt in your mouth quality as the tuna, which was surprising. Unfortunately the dish lacked depth and was boring after 1-2 bites. My spouse had the chicken - it was fantastic. Peanut butter Icecream Sandwich. So close… The icecream was amazing. The salted candied nuts were so good. But the sandwich itself was a tasteless breading that could have been so much more. A simple crunchy cookie? Overall mediocre. For the price, I won’t be back. In my opinion, there are better options for great food in Winnipeg.
Jean-Michel — Google review
The 4-course menu was decent, but I probably won’t come back given the steep price. Salmon, albacore tuna and steelhead trout were the highlights. Other dishes were just OK. Another highlight was the pottery plates and utensil holder. We were so intrigued that we looked up the artist online.

1/5 Stars – Disappointing for a Fine Dining Experience I visited Deer & Almond expecting a memorable fine dining experience, but it fell short in several ways. Upon arrival, the hostess, Jenna, made us feel profiled by directing us to a far-end table. Worthy to mention that most tables remained empty throughout. She could have given us a better option , then her immediate mention of the $90 four-course set menu felt pushy and unwelcoming, which set a poor tone. The decor was decent but underwhelming for a fine dining venue—nothing particularly elegant or noteworthy. The seating was a major issue: the wooden chairs and benches were uncomfortable for a 2.5-hour meal, which detracted significantly from the experience. The menu itself was limited, making it difficult to select appealing dishes for each course. Thankfully, the food was a highlight—well-prepared and flavorful—and the cocktails were equally enjoyable, which saved the evening to some extent. However, our table faced the washroom, and every time someone exited, the door was left open, giving us an unpleasant view of the toilet. This was a major oversight for a restaurant aiming for sophistication. While Jenna’s attitude remained off-putting, her colleague provided excellent service, explaining each course thoroughly and professionally, which we appreciated. Overall, Deer & Almond needs significant improvements in ambiance, seating comfort, and staff approach to justify its fine dining claim. Wouldn’t recommend unless these issues are addressed.

1 of the best meals I've ever had, I wish I was staying longer in Winnipeg so I could go again. We did the 4 course dinner service, it was perfect. I think the beef tartare was the best bite of food I've ever had.

Our first time at this establishment. Our server Andrea was friendly and helpful. The food was very tasty, good portions, very satisfied after a lovely meal. I could probably eat 10 of those chorizo & queso quesadillas, so unbelievably delicious.

Mandel Hitzer and his team are brilliant. Yes, it's not the cheapest place to eat at, but I am quite tired of paying a hundred dollar for a forgettable meal. This is everything but forgettable. Every piece of the tasting menu was delicate, and intricate and perfect. Mandel delivered each meal with heartfelt explanations. He told me that it's not only about creating a perfect meal, it's about making it consistently. Nailed it. Bravo.

Delicious gourmet tasting menu tucked away in downtown Winnipeg, easily one of the best meals in the city and a top canadian restaurant in its own right. Both plating and cooking was exceptional, with unique fusion flavours omnipresent. Although every course was a delight, the peanut butter icecream sandwich stole my heart... Yum yum

Breakfast restaurant
Clementine Cafe is a trendy spot located in the Exchange District of Winnipeg, offering a cozy and hip atmosphere with its lower-level setting, stone walls, and 70s-style wallpaper. The cafe is known for its creative brunch fare and breakfast cocktails. Owned by Carolina Konrad and her sister Raya, who previously worked at Segovia, this cafe serves up some of the best meals in the city.
Went to Clementine today for brunch — OMG, the place is an absolute vibe! Totally worth the wait (we waited over an hour), and it lived up to the hype. The food and drinks were amazing. My wife had the Turkish eggs and loved them. I went with the fried chicken on a Toast — crispy, flavorful, and just perfect. We also shared the spicy cucumber dish which was a refreshing and tasty surprise. For drinks, we had a caramel latte and an iced matcha latte — both delicious. Hands down, one of the best brunch spots we've been to. Highly recommend!
Arpit S — Google review
Let's get the important information out first: If you are looking for a basic eggs and bacon or sausage breakfast, skip this location. This location is for the breakfast connoisseur. A place where eggs are served in mouthwatering dishes that aim to awaken your taste buds and leave you wanting more. The portion sizes are spot on, and your yearning for more is so your taste buds can continue to enjoy new flavours. The atmosphere gives one a feeling that they've been transported to a quaint European eatery, with bustling conversations and decor that makes one feel at home. Be aware though, this is a small location in terms of number of seats. In this case, size does not matter, as the food alone is worth not only the wait, but the cozy environment that goes with it. Service was friendly. Coffee was constantly topped up. And, the bill was not out of line for what we ate. This was our first visit and definitely not our last!!

Went here many times when I lived in Winnipeg. It’s cemented itself as one of my, if not my #1, favourite breakfast places. I made sure to integrate a visit here on my road trip from Calgary to southern Ontario. Menu has changed a little bit since I last went a couple years ago so I tried something new (Duck Chilaquiles) and it did not disappoint. Everything on the menu is fantastic, the atmosphere is great, and the service is outstanding. Highly recommend visiting!
Vidhur V — Google review
Great brunch! Great flavors. We only tried a couple of things but they were great. The flavor combos were nice and the menu was tight. I really like the way they utilized ingredients to create a diverse menu. Great job folks! We had duck chilaquiles, the amazing banana waffle(waffle itself was not warm), chai latte and bourbon drink were fantastic. Service was good. Great vibe overall.

Delicious spot for breakfast or lunch. Surprising Mediterranean twist on breakfast. I had the Turkish eggs which came with yummy fried toast. We ordered a few plates to share. I really loved the pickled cucumbers with crema. So many delicious plates to chose from. I highly recommend to order a few different plates and share. Great place!
Laura C — Google review
Creative spins on traditional dishes. Every bite was delicious. Our waitress was very helpful in narrowing down the choices. My husband loved the speciality drinks. True rating would be 4.5 stars only due to the fact that it took a while for the food to arrive.

Work trip lunch, went there with my colleague. It got busy fast, the restaurant got full before noon on a Thursday. Food was good, service was great, friendly staff. Vibe is modern. One of the better restaurants in Winnipeg
Justin T — Google review
So delicious! We came here for brunch after many recommendations and were not disappointed. There was a little wait, maybe 10 minutes, but the staff were super nice and attentive. The food was incredible, the chicken on toast was amazing and the smoked steelhead trout was so good. The fried potatoes were delicious, and we really had a great time. Would love to go again!

Resto Gare And Train Bar Bistro is a charming family-owned bistro located in the historic Saint Boniface Train Station, dating back to 1913. The restaurant offers a unique dining experience with its old-school French ambiance, including an adjacent train dining cart and a courtyard-style patio featuring live music. The menu features classic French dishes such as escargot, foie gras, crepes, poulet cordon bleu, and cotes dagneau en persillade.
We celebrated an anniversary here and it did not disappoint! The ambience and decor was full of character. The service was attentive, and our server showed an enthusiasm for and knowledge of the menu that helped us narrow down our choices from so many yummy options. The food was outstanding. Full of unique, layered flavours. We ordered Foies Gras as an appetizer, Duck Confit and a seafood linguinni for mains, and the lemon tart for dessert. Drinks were great. Definitely a very special restaurant that is hard to compare to most other restaurants in the city. Wednesday nights they have live jazz music. It would be a great place for even a couple of drinks and an appetizer, let alone full course meal :) We will be back!

My wife and I came up to visit Winnipeg from the US state of Iowa about a month ago to support our kind Canadian neighbours. Everything about this restaurant was lovely. The service was friendly and thoughtful and the atmosphere was unique, romantic, and quirky. The food was delicious, and there was plenty of it. We started with complimentary bread with oil and vinegar. Next, we had the escargot with buttery, toasted bread. After that we ordered the TRÉSOR DE LA MER dinner for two, which included a soup or salad (we got corn chowder) followed by a delicious seafood pasta with lemon, crab, mussels, shrimp, salmon, and fried fish mini fillets. I would strongly recommend making a reservation at this amazing place for a special night out!
Grant P — Google review
We went to La Gare restaurant for a dinner to celebrate our anniversary, and we both were greatly impressed by authentic atmosphere, interior of renovated train car, great service and delicious French cuisine. It's not cheap, for a dinner for two we paid around 160 + tips, but it was well worth it, and we enjoyed every meal we had. Waiting time was moderate, around 20-25 minutes, music was nice and not too loud. Parking is a little tight, it takes some skill to get parked there or leave when parking lot is full, but the restaurant itself is just great)
Ievgen P — Google review
We recently visited Resto Gare Bistro & Bar for our anniversary, and it was such a wonderful experience!. We ordered the mushroom appetizer, onion soup, soup of the day, pate marine, and chicken with mashed potatoes. Everything was absolutely delicious, including their complimentary bread with olive oil dip. The portions were generous, and I was pleasantly full by the end🙂. I loved their warm & cozy atmosphere. Not only that, their service was welcoming and attentive too. Highly recommend this place for a special occasion or a cozy dinner out❤️
Sobani D — Google review
I had a wonderful dinner at Resto Gare. The French onion soup was simply outstanding, and the lamb dish was cooked to perfection — absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was elegant, the service excellent, and I look forward to returning on a Saturday evening to enjoy their events.
Megan D — Google review
We came here for our anniversary and the atmosphere was very warm and the live piano music was very nice, but there were a couple issues. We were disturbed a couple times, once by a staff member eating at the table across from us with her hood up, eating with her mouth open and smacking her lips so loud it was interrupting our conversation. The second time was when staff were fighting and yelling at each other in the middle of the dining room behind us. Not very professional. We ordered the Brie Fondue appetizer and it was really good. For entrees I had the Bourguignon while my partner ordered the Saumon de Maison. The Bourguignon was cooked perfectly and fell apart with a fork, however the sauce was watery and really didn’t have a lot of flavour. Her salmon was quite delicious though. The duck fat roasted baby potatoes that came on the side had no seasoning and tasted like a plain boiled potato Overall a nice evening but we were a bit disappointed with our meal, especially when paying such high prices
Quinton A — Google review
Surprisingly bad, to be honest. We had a reservation for 6:30 and didnt get our entrees until 8:30. When we got there, there seemed to be a large gathering that took up most of the main dining room. We ordered our drinks which took quite a while to get there. Then we ordered our appetizers and entrees. The appetizers came pretty quickly. We ordered the baked brie and the French onion soup. The soup was the highlight of the meal and the baked brie was okay. After we ate our appetizers, it took an hour and a half to get our food. We had bought a bottle of wine for the table and had finished it before the food even got there. Once the food did arrive, it came out sporadically and not all of us got our food at the same time. I got the beef bourguignon and it was terrible. The broth was very watery and the beef was so tough that I didnt even finish it. It was dry and overcooked. Two of my family members had the chateaubriand which they found was okay, but we found the Gates did it better. My husband did like the lamb however. Our waiter was very apologetic about the wait. However, I think the restaurant should have been more diligent when booking such a large group, as it impacts their other guests. Our bill was around $500 and we definitely didnt find it was worth the price. We would not go here again. If you're looking for a nice French restaurant, you're better going to the Peasant Cookery. The food, service and atmosphere was just all in all better.
Brittany M — Google review
We ate in the train car. Lovely patio for the summer and another dining room. Dinner was tasty, definitely French influence (I had the beef Bourgogne, shared some escargot and a creme brule for dessert). Staff were kind, friendly and very helpful. It's out of the way but worth finding. I'd definitely go again.

Restaurant
Peasant Cookery is a charming and cozy restaurant located in the heart of Winnipeg's Old Market Square. The rustic-chic spot offers elevated comfort food made with locally sourced ingredients, creating a magical dining experience. The French-inspired menu features dishes like mussels and fries, tourtiere, and chocolate pot de creme. The restaurant's commitment to locality and freshness is evident in their traditional dishes with a modern twist.
Peasant Cookery is one of my favorite spots downtown. I first fell for it during their oyster night. If you’re into oysters, it’s absolutely worth going for that alone. Fresh, great quality, and just a really fun experience overall. Beyond the food, I love how pretty and artsy the inside of the restaurant is. It’s cozy but still feels special, like the kind of place you actually want to spend a few hours in. The atmosphere, the food, and the service all come together really well. Definitely a go-to for when I want something a little nicer without feeling too over the top.
ERSC — Google review
We came here for lunch after visiting the CMHR. It was mid Friday afternoon so we had our choice of any seating. We picked a sunny spot inside the restaurant by the window. Both the foods and services left a fond impression of our second (and great) meal in Winnipeg. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The fries of my moules frites were fried deep golden brown with a perfect and balanced crunch without being overwhelmingly seasoned. I almost couldn’t stop drinking the sauce by the spoonfuls even after all the mussels were gone. My husband ordered a rueben and he was very happy, too. We had a very lovely lunch.
Joseph L — Google review
I know many people love this place, but it didn’t impress me. The service was okay, but I didn’t really like the atmosphere, the setting, or the food. The décor doesn’t match, although the building itself is gorgeous — the windows and ceiling are just amazing. However, the table wasn’t properly cleaned, and the dishes and cutlery were quite poor. It’s too expensive for the working class, yet lacks the sophistication to appeal to a more refined crowd.
Pol C — Google review
Great place with great atmosphere. Staff was very helpful and professional…buck a shuck oyster special cannot be beat & oysters are high quality for such a good deal! Person I dined with got the pork chop & said it was amazing and was almost like a bone-in ribeye in presentation. One of the best pork chops I’ve ever seen. Would 100% recommend whether you’re looking for an oyster deal or a nice dinner in Winnipeg.

Came here on a whim while visiting Winnipeg. Everything was very delicious! We had the escargot, elk bourguignon (they were out of the bison), and Moroccan Salmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the pickles accompanying it were very tasty. The other dishes were also done very well. Prices were reasonable for the quality of food, and the service was great.

First time here last night with my friends. I love everything about this restaurant. The ambience is amazing. Very classic and relaxing atmosphere perfect for date nights, catching up with friends, or even a me time night. Our server was fast and attentive. The food came out at a reasonable time. We really enjoyed the food that we ordered. I had to buy a second round of Old Fashioned, it was very good. I will be coming back.
John T — Google review
Very classy place. Our party of 6 (3 couples) very much enjoyed our food and it lived up to its reputation. We've tried to get reservations in past and it was booked up so this time we booked several days in advance for a Friday night. Fringe festival was going on so there was a fun vibe directly outside. We loved the location in the exchange district and the beautiful old building. The menu was not extensive as menus with real food and real chefs generally are not, but there was something for everyone from gluten free to vegan, to carnivore. Everything here is locally and ethically sourced and made from scratch. Our waiter was very jolly and double checked with the kitchen regarding various allergies at the table. The Beef Bourguignon was disappointingly sold out but everything else was available. Note that the menu changes. The reviews were full of pictures of pasta (and pictures of a previous menu with lots of pasta options) but there was no pasta on our menu. That was not disappointing for us but something to note if you are hoping for something specific on the menu you see in the reviews. Refer to the website for the latest menu. Not sure if the menu changes seasonally or daily or what. The menu we enjoyed had loads of meat and fish options. The pork chop and chicken paillard were delightfully tender with tasty sauces. Our group enjoyed many entrées with no complaints. (all pictured). Also the desserts were perfection and a nice size. The carrot cake surprised as being both gluten free and vegan, the expectations were low but it wowed. The lemon pudding was perfectly tart and sweet. I didn't taste any others but there was satisfaction all around. We would all recommend this restaurant. The food was impeccable. The atmosphere was simple but classy, traditional, with just enough historical feel to be cozy and quaint. While I'm sure kids are welcome, I wouldn't recommend bringing kids here as the prices are high. Not sure if there is a kids menu. Parking is typical of downtown. Be prepared to walk if you want street parking, though there is also a parking garage DIRECTLY across the street. Very handy.

I gotta say the staff here put the Wow in Wow Hospitality! We had our wedding celebration here and couldn't be happier! Brian and Meredith were fantastic in coordinating our big day with; communication and planning were easy and they were on top of everything during the event. Staff did an amazing job working the room ensuring that drinks were flowing and that the meals came out quickly. Peasant Cookery's bartender is top notch, if they've got the ingredients he'll be able to make you whatever cocktail your heart desires!

If you're on the hunt for a laid-back dining experience in Winnipeg, look no further than VJ's Drive Inn. This charming little burger stand has been delighting locals since 1958, originally known as Juniors. Despite its modest size, it packs a punch with its legendary homemade beef patties that are simply irresistible.
Great first experience at VJ's. Took order fast, meal was incredibly fast and fresh. The burgers and hotdogs were near perfectly dressed. Little heavy on lettuce for me but it's a learning curve and I will definitely be back. Pricing was very reasonable. The fries.... You get fries and they are cooked exactly as they should be.
E B — Google review
For a long time, I heard everyone talking about VJ’s burgers, so I finally gave it a try. I was surprised by the taste! I tried their special burger and really liked it but the French fries were disappointment. The place isn’t exactly big on hygiene, which might be a turn-off for some, but if you’re there for the flavor, it’s definitely worth a try. They now accept credit cards.
Kia S — Google review
They know their burgers! The service is "lacking" because this is a pick up location with an outdoor dining area. Gotta love their attitude through the window, old school, may be a little bit too rough for some. Burger wise, their special is truly special. A good balance of chili, patty, produce, and sauces. Go all in, you will thank them right away.

We stopped by on our way through Winnipeg taking Via rail. The train was severely delayed but we were able to call an order ahead of time. Someone from staff stayed behind to make sure we got our food which was really really sweet of them! The portion sizes here are huge and generous, we were only able to get down half of our burgers. We had ordered one of the double patty burgers and had not eaten all day but still couldn't finish the whole thing. I'll definitely be stopping by whenever I'm in town again.

A true gem in Winnipeg’s burger scene! My boyfriend and I had the absolute pleasure of trying VJ’s Double Special—and let me tell you, it was nothing short of a heavenly experience! 🍔✨ The burger was an explosion of flavor in every bite, made with perfectly seasoned homemade patties that melted in our mouths. You can truly taste the love and tradition in each layer—it’s not just a burger, it’s a love letter to comfort food. The aroma alone is enough to draw you in from blocks away. Juicy, meaty, rich, and grilled to perfection—every bite whispered “come back soon.” The service was quick, the vibe nostalgic, and the quality unmatched. In a city full of burger joints, VJ’s Drive Inn stands tall like a legend—a place where cravings are fulfilled, and taste buds sing. We’re already planning our next visit. This is a place that reminds you why burgers became a classic in the first place. ❤️🔥 Highly, highly recommended!

Delivery Restaurant
Falafel Place is a popular Middle Eastern eatery in Winnipeg, known for its simple yet delicious offerings. The restaurant serves a variety of breakfast dishes, shawarma, and vegan fare alongside their renowned falafel. It's also a haven for gluten-free diners on a budget, offering delectable morning fare at wallet-friendly prices. With plenty of vegetarian and vegan options available, the bustling restaurant has been a staple in the Winnipeg culinary scene for decades.
What a breakfast!!! Nice latkes. Excellent eggs. Lots of options including corned beef, schnitzel, bacon, hummus, falafel, sausage, it just goes on!! Friendly staff. Cash and debit ONLY - no credit cards. Outstanding falafel - small, tender and delicious. Not your regular dry falafel! Worth the detour.

What a great surprise this place was! Enjoyed their breakfast selection! Looking forward to try other food in the menu!

Fabulous for breakfast. Earlier you go the quieter it is. Great for families with young children.
Caroline P — Google review
I used to frequent this place when I lived in Winnipeg. Now under new ownership it has lost some its charm, the Latkes have definitely changed and not for the better. The Latkes used to be cooked more and had some crispness to it. This time they felt undercooked and what happened to the original ingredients. The rest of the breakfast was okay. How can anyone really mess up eggs and toast. The service is still excellent as is the ambience. Sadly, I probably won’t visit this place the next time o come to Winnipeg.

Some of the best falafel in the city! Tastes great and is affordable and fast. The only thing is that it can get very loud when it is a packed house and hard on my elderly dad's hearing. But service is attentive and food is beyond yummy. BONUS: the VEGAN options are appreciated!
Horror G — Google review
The food was great here. Everything we ordered was great. The grapefruit and orange juices are freshly squeezed to order. The only reason they are getting 4 stars in atmosphere is it was extremely hot inside. The kitchen is open to the dinning room and the stoves where extremely hot and all the fans in the restaurant for air circulation where turned off. It was like eating in the literal oven. Otherwise a good experience.
Michelle M — Google review
We went out for lunch one day, and said, lets go to Falafel place! Its so good! We got there akwardly waited at the entrance blocking other people from getting in, until 5 minutes later we got seated. Almost instantly we placed our orders of 3 soups and 2 Falafel Ball platters. We then proceeded to wait 30 minutes for Falafel balls, which were good, but drenched in so much sauce that you could not even taste the flavor. Then finally after 35 minutes, our SOUP came. Now, usually soup comes first at a restaurant, but who am I to judge? It was mozza ball soup and the mozza balls were raw and tasted like complete garbage. It felt like I just spent 12 dollars on hot water. Will not be coming back.
Christian S — Google review
I haven’t been here in probably close to 20 years. Will not be waiting that long to go again, it’s fantastic!! The food is delicious. Prices are very reasonable with large portions. Our food came out very fast and it was hot and fresh upon arrival. Friendly staff and busy right up to closing. Go early, they close at 2 pm. I can’t wait to go back again. The yam hash mix with the Vegan Heaven Breakfast is to die for!!

Passero, located in the heart of Little Italy, is a beloved culinary gem that recently moved from The Forks. The restaurant offers a stylish and atmospheric setting for a delightful night out. Chef Scott Bagshaw's innovative take on classic Italian dishes has made Passero a hit in Winnipeg's dining scene. The menu features delectable starters like arancini, warm olives, and toasted sourdough bread, as well as popular salads with local ingredients.
Every aspect of this restaurant is exceptional. Quite likely the best collection of food in the city. Ambience and decor are perfect. Staff and Chef are second to none. You never leave disappointed. Come here for your birthday, anniversary, date night or just a hang out and be wowed by the Mediterranean flavours and expertly crafted dishes. Everything from cocktails to wines, even a nice whisky selection to pair. Passero is truly one of the best and luckily it’s in Winnipeg. Make sure to try the peanut butter chocolate tart if you can! 👌💯

The taste of each dish was well done but each plate was around $30, there are plenty of other high quality restaurants that serve very similar food for a MUCH bigger portion and value. I was really looking forward to dining here and the photos looked great but was underwhelmed when the dishes were about the size of two of my fists. They bring each dish out one at a time for family style serving. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable when presenting each dish. This restaurant’s atmosphere is quite nice, food is good, however I spent over $100 and left the restaurant still feeling quite hungry. This was a nice upscale first-time visit however, I think I would rather go somewhere else if I wanted quality pasta for the same price and bigger portion.

Super cool Italian spot! Meals were amazing! 10/10 can’t fault! Would definitely recommend you visit if you have time! Only 2 pieces of feedback- no limoncello or tiramisu on the menu! Little disappointed and should be on all Italian restaurant menus!! but other than that! Amazing!

My wife and I came up to visit Winnipeg from the US state of Iowa about a month ago to support our kind Canadian neighbours. We had our 7th wedding anniversary dinner here. It was a lovely experience overall. We enjoyed a nice bottle of Pinot Grigio with our 5-course dinner. The food was all delicious, the service was thoughtful and professional, and the atmosphere was romantic and pleasant overall. It was a bit louder in here than we would have liked, but we could still hold a nice conversation with little trouble. If you are looking for an elegant night out with great food with that special someone, I would highly recommend you dine here!

Absolutely lovely🤩 super cute decor and a very fun menu. Plates are meant to be shared which was quite enjoyable since you get to try many different items. I highly recommend the carbonara and the lemon cheese cake. Would love to come again to try in winter since it has a very cozy and intimate vibe and the food is quite filling. Great service.

Love that they have moved onto Corydon with a great little patio. Made our reservation a couple weeks ago and they readily let you move it to a patio spot on the day of if the weather is nice. Great part about that is the patio is dog friendly so bring your furry friend! Service and food is terrific as always and many dishes can be adjusted for vegetarian and are still just as fantastic.

Sous Sol is a hidden gem offering upscale Canadian cuisine in an intimate and enchanting setting. The rustic-chic, candlelit ambiance sets the stage for a gastronomic adventure where friendly staff cater to your every need. The menu features exquisite French dishes crafted with fresh, seasonal ingredients, including beef tenderloin with red wine braised mushrooms and truffle butter, as well as options for vegetarians and vegans such as roasted kale salad and warm smoked olives.
This was a unique dining experience. The restaurant is quaint and charming yet also very amusing. I love the use of all the vintage/eclectic dishes, it’s a beautiful touch. The menu is fantastic, Fresh ingredients with amazing flavours! There is something for everyone, we tried almost everything. The beef tartar was amazing, asparagus and beets are a must try, my daughter loved the house jam and fresh oysters is so nice to see on a menu. This is an impressive restaurant, I highly recommend.

I want to leave my positive feedback about this place. We came there on a recommendation for a special date, my husband's birthday, and it was 100% the right choice for that day. I like the secrecy of this place, I liked the atmosphere and hospitality right from the doorway. I liked the dishes. We ordered 6 different dishes and they were all excellent in taste and presentation. The waiter said that they change the menu every week. The portions are not big and not small, we were more than full. We did not take drinks, but I watched how the bartender prepared them and they looked very beautiful and appetizing. It was nice that the waitress congratulated my husband on his birthday and put a candle for the dessert, it was super sweet. For 6 dishes + tips we paid $ 180. I am grateful to the staff for making us happy on this day. We will come back.

We went there for dinner and our experience was great! It was pretty hard to find an entry first, but once we got in we liked everything: service was fast and polite, food was just delicious (we had oysters, bison meatballs, pork loin, and then a rhubarb pie and a cheese for dessert). Portions were not too big, but enough to be full. Whole atmosphere was quite romantic and cozy, however, in my opinion, music was a little too loud and fast. Anyways, we enjoyed the visit and would definitely recommend this place.

Very interesting and atmospheric place, delicious food, memorable interior, pleasant staff. Quite pricey, but good. Only one drawback))) the restroom does not match the establishment at all, modernization wouldn’t hurt.

Sous Sol is a little hard to find, but it is definitely a hidden gem. The food is amazing. The ambiance in the restaurant however is a little off putting. As others have stated it is very dark and it takes a while until your eyes adjust to your surroundings. The music is a little on the loud side and a little bizarre. However the food is incredibly delicious. We had the Roast Bone Marrow, Croquettes, the MB Beef Tenderloin the Fried Mushrooms and the bread and butter and everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. We left Sous Sol satiated and looking forward to our next visit.

Absolutely delicious food and easily my favorite restaurant during my Winnipeg visit. We ordered the Arctic char, potato dauphinoise, and duck. The duck had perfectly crispy skin and was cooked just right. The Arctic char was flavorful and it paired beautifully with the tomatoes which added the just the right amount of acidity. The potatoes were the highlight and it truly was the dauphinoise I have ever had. Would definitely come back the next time I am in town.

The environment is a combination of classy and throwback. Even the utensils are unique. What we ordered for appetizers was bread and butter, bone marrow, the mains were duck and trout, and side gnocchi. I can’t remember the exact name of dishes. The food was flavourful, tasty, and healthy. Everything on the plate complimented one another. Our server was good too and very knowledgeable and when we asked questions they explained very well. Also the non-alcoholic options are unique compared to other restaurants which I appreciate. Sorry we didn’t take any pictures which is very odd for us!

One of my favorites in Winnipeg but tonight was a letdown. I do enjoy a great tartare there usually but dropped in tonight for a dessert and espresso and got quite disappointed by both. The chocolate tart was excellent but the piece was ridiculously small for $12 and the espresso was not good at all with zero crema and likely could have get a better one at Tim Horton's sadly. The staff was apologetic about both and service very good as usual...

We had such a great experience at the bar! Kiran was our bartender, and he absolutely impressed us with his skills. Instead of just picking from the menu, we explained the kind of flavors we liked, and he crafted drinks perfectly suited to our tastes. Each one was spot on refreshing, creative, and really well-balanced. His ability to understand what we wanted and turn it into the perfect drink made the evening extra special. Highly recommend his bartending if you want a drink and don’t know what to get explain it to him and he will choose a perfect one for you!

Dessert restaurant
Baked Expectations is a beloved bakeshop located in Osborne Village, Winnipeg. For over 30 years, this dessert-specialty cafe has been known for its lavish cakes and classic recipes created by owner Beth Grubert. The shop offers a variety of treats including cookies, cupcakes, custom-designed cakes, tortes, cheesecakes with various toppings, pies, and seasonal specialties like Tia Maria cake and chocolate-dipped strawberries.
WOW!!!! Just WOW!!! if you are looking for a cake that will drop your jaw then you are in the right place. They are so well done and so beautiful to look at.So many artistic flavor combinations. Beth, the owner, prefers the almond torte. The staff favorite is the carrot cake. The funfetti is so pretty and half sold. The pavlova is a bold move—so gorgeous and rare to even even find this at a restaurant. I’ve tried to make these. ANY trace of yolk and the whites will not stiffen. Even slicing this is a special skill. The strawberry chocolate is blowing my mind. So lovely. Layers of cake and mousse. Can’t wait to dig in.
MKB — Google review
When you have few places that make cakes solely, you dont get much options, you have to visit, either your family asked you to or your peers. They know they have the right location for a restaurant so why bother on nice behaviour towards customer. Why train your servers to be gentle or "nice" to the customers. They will make money any way. I would not recommend this place for a sit in. Neither will I recommend the sugar filled overhyped cakes. Dig deeper in google, you will surely find other better options in Winnipeg. Enjoy your dessert, its just not the place to enjoy.
Asif ( — Google review
First time there and the place was a nice surprise. The cakes were good but not exceptional. Our party ordered 6 different cakes and our experience was 50-50. Three of the cakes were either dry or waaay too much icing. The service was a bit chaotic, we were told to sit and order at the table but took 15 minutes to get our order. The cakes did not come all at once and had to wait a good 5 minutes for the rest of the cakes to arrive. Drinks were good.
Fran G — Google review
In from out of town and had to grab some cheesecake. It was quiet while we visited but there was a grab selection of cakes. We got a piece of cherry and salted caramel cheesecake. They were both good portions and tasted delicious. As with everything prices have gone up but felt that it was a reasonable price at $13 for a slice. We haven't been at the restaurant for a couple of years but there tends to be a large empty space at the front of the restaurant. It looks awkward and not very inviting.
Valdene C — Google review
Got the pavlova sliced cake and it was worse dessert ever. Taste -2/10 , got it for my daughter through uber, wasted my $25 for 1 slice. Wont order ever. Sorry not recommend. 🙁
Shaila S — Google review
This was my first time in a number of years and I was really disappointed. My daughter got a piece of Key Lime Pie and while it tasted what it was supposed to taste like I'm not quite sure why they were charging $11. If I had know it was going to be that much I would have left. $11 for a piece of pie?? That's crazy. I used to love going for Mocha Torte or cheesecake but as these prices I think that was my last time. Really disappointed.
Elizabeth A — Google review
What a fun and cozy spot! This place feels like an old-school diner but is all about desserts and drinks now. They have a great variety of cakes, including delicious meringue options, and the portions are huge — definitely worth the price. It’s a lovely spot to sit down for coffee and dessert, with a friendly and kind staff that makes you feel welcome. I also love that kids can draw and hang their artwork on the wall — such a sweet touch that adds to the charm. It can get a bit loud or full, but the energy is cheerful and fun. Perfect for a family treat or a cozy evening with friends!
The E — Google review
This place has cake magic. The variety of cakes is astounding and the quality is superb. They were gracious about a special request for a whole cake on short notice. The carrot cake is especially rich and good. My guests all raved about it. This is now a required stop for me for all trips to Winnipeg! No credit cards - this means USA Visa debits also do not work. Rae & Jerry's Steak House is a long-standing, classic establishment with a history dating back to the late 1930s. Originally starting as a downtown lunch counter, it eventually settled in its current location on Portage Avenue in 1957. The restaurant boasts red leather seats and offers a menu featuring traditional steaks and seafood options. Despite its old-school charm, Rae & Jerry's continues to attract patrons with its timeless appeal.
Work trip dinner with colleagues, busy place on a Tuesday night after thanksgiving. I guess steak is better than turkey Food was above average, service was excellent, top notch white glove service. Decor is amazing, a little modern, a little 60/70s vibe. Love it.

Great vibes in this dining room. Service was friendly and slower paced. Food was ok. The pickerel needed more seasoning and the broccolini needed a lot more flavour. Same with the fries. It’s pricey for food that didn’t blow me away.
Rebecca S — Google review
Rae & Jerry's steakhouse is a Winnipeg institution! It is located on Portage Avenue right on the banks of Omands Creek only steps from Polo Park Mall. It was constructed in 1957 for an approximate cost of $130,000, the current Rae & Jerry's remains, today, as it was in 1958: a large flat-roofed rectangular mass at the front (south) end and a gable-roofed structure at rear, off-set by a canopied driveway (for valet service) on the east side. Interior photographs from the 1950s reveal a similar form to that found now – a modern room with a low ceiling; free-standing tables were positioned in the centre of the space, with booths around the perimeter.

We came in as a larger party on short notice yesterday, and Chantelle and Dylan were beyond accommodating. They always made sure we never had an empty glass and were great with menu recommendations. I had a dry gin martini and the bruschetta flatbread - to die for!! Our spot in the lounge was anything but lacklustre. The location, vibe, and prompt service made it a perfect evening. Huge thanks again to Chantelle and Dylan for your outstanding and attentive service, and warm personalities. This was my first time at Rae & Jerry’s and it certainly won’t be my last!

After our fringe show were decided on a trip to the R & J’s lounge. Started off with a nice crisp Greek salad, dressing good, but I’ve have zippier ones. Did not have a big lunch so I settled on the monster clubhouse, good as always. Also sampled at the table were their mini burger sliders that were flavourful and juicy. There have been some bad reviews lately buy my visits there have always been great!!

Dylan and Sandor were both so kind to my family during this time - helped us with recommendations, allergies and any questions we had. These two were both great servers as well as great people. By the end of our visit they made the dinner and our experience so enjoyable. Thank you to you both - we will be back for another meal soon

First time at this restaurant. The food and drinks were good but management apparently over-booked. Our food took over 2.25 hours to come to our table and they ran out of some items on our order (mashed potatoes) by the time our plates arrived. Service was courteous and lively, but staff need to understand what celiac/gluten-free really means. Neat place for sure, but for the top end price you pay, I would expect more overall. It will be The Keg or Cibo for me next time.

For a steakhouse at this price point I would have expected a much better cut of meat. Several at my table got thin cuts that looked no better than grocery store cuts. Service was great, atmosphere was dated (70's?) but pretty quaint.

Bellissimo is a charming Italian restaurant and lounge located in Winnipeg, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere with outdoor seating. The family-owned establishment is known for its authentic Italian cuisine, including housemade pasta and delectable pizzas. Situated in the Linden Woods suburbs, Bellissimo provides a sophisticated dining experience that combines traditional Italian flavors with modern twists.
I was craving pasta and Google brought us here. From the outside, the restaurant looked very ordinary but don’t be discouraged because once you walk past the door, you’ll love the dark and moody vibe of the place. It was a busy night and I didn’t have a reservation. Fortunately, they were able to accommodate us. I recommend making a reservation though. The host was very welcoming and so as our server. The service was phenomenal. They have a team that works like a well-oiled machine. We didn't have to ask for water refills and the plates were cleared promptly and quietly. The servings were generous and the food incredible! . We ordered: Calamari - beautifully battered, well-seasoned and fried just right. Massive serving! The plate was probably good for at least 4 people. Gamberto Grigliato - the prawns were grilled perfectly and the lemon caper aioli was just the ideal accompaniment for them. It also came with salsa verde but it was just ok. Fruitti di Mare - the pasta, tossed in bright white wine sauce, was pure heaven. The clams, the shrimps (not prawns) were simply amazing but the mussels didn’t smell very fresh at all. I just put time aside, so I was still very happy with the entire dish. Bolognese Pappardelle - I didn’t taste it but it looked very enticing too. I forgot the name of the dessert but the Cheesecake was wrapped in mirangue and it was the perfect ending to a remarkabe dining experience. Albeit the not so pleasant mussels, I would still come back here again and again. This place was certainly a neighbourhood hidden gem.

I had the ceasar salad with grilled chicken and my friend had the vegan pizza. The chicken was the best I have ever tasted We finished with the cinnamon donuts. Everything had amazing flavor , portions large. Still smiling from that meal . Will be back for sure. Prices very reasonable ❤️😊

This was our third time visiting this location, and I could have easily given the same rating on our previous visits. Our server was friendly and knew when to stop by our table to inquire about our food and drinks. His swiftness to casually drop the dessert menu and quickly remove it when we declined was appreciated. The food is by far the main reason to visit. Never a disappointment and always packed with flavour, there isn't a menu item that I've found to avoid. If you're looking for a step up in a dining experience, your wallet will thank you for spending wisely.

My fave Italian restaurant in town😍 Food and services are phenomenal! Manny was the one that served us so many times when visited and we appreciate his hospitality and friendliness. The downsides are some of the tables for two are too small and sometimes when the restaurant gets packed the layout of the restaurant makes it really inconvenient to walk.

I’ve been coming here for many years and for obvious reasons but tonight was better than usual. Our server KJ was friendly, attentive and she also had perfect timing. Also thank you KJ for the tip about the tomato sauce with the calamari — such a game changer!!

Nestled on Corydon Avenue, Bonfire Bistro is a charming and inviting eatery that specializes in wood-fired pizzas and authentic Italian dishes. This cozy haven has become a beloved spot for locals, thanks to its commitment to fresh ingredients and time-honored recipes that deliver the ultimate comfort food experience.
We shared the meatballs as an appetizer. For an entree, I ordered the homemade Mac and Cheese with Chorizo sausage. Desert was "popcorn ice cream". It was a fantastic and flavorful meal. Bonfire Bistro is a great place to go when you aren't in a rush and want to have a leisurely meal. The service is friendly and the food is delicious, and well worth the wait. I will definitely be returning to try some more entrees.

Food is good but would not recommend for the large groups (over 10). Takes longer than an hour to get food and it’s coming out slow. So first plates are already cold by the time the last person gets the food.

If you're looking for a cozy place to eat dinner, grab some wine and have a satisfying meal, look no further. Parking can be tight, but there's street parking and a short walk if needed. The braised beef gnocchi was melt in your mouth savouryness, the beef fell apart like butter. Sangria was refreshing. As a solo traveler for work bar seating was no problem but already full ish in the evening on Saturday so might be good to get reservations for peak times. Alex the waitress was super fun, friendly and attentive, she's been there for 20 years now! Ann the waitress was awesome too, the chocolate creme brule had a satisfying crunch sound when your spoon breaks through the caramel layer.

Wonderful pizza and service! Have been there twice. Food arrived quickly both times with fresh and unique ingredients. My friend and I had the spicy pepperoni pizza which was delicious. One pizza was a perfect portion for both of us to share. We also tried the carrot cake which was a generous portion and fantastic. Would highly recommend! It’s best to make a reservation as they are a popular destination.

First time trying Bonfire Bistro. To start, we had the bruschetta, which tasted great with the goat cheese. I tried the prosciutto & pear pizza, and I really enjoyed this combination of flavors and textures. The crust was a flat bread style thin crust, which was nice. Recommend giving it a try if you haven't tried this type of pizza before. Lastly, I had the paella. The meats in this dish were cooked perfectly, and the portion was quite large (could be shared between two people). However, the seasoning of the dish was a bit bland. Overall, most of the dishes were very good. The waiter was great as well.

Went for a family lunch and was not disappointed. We were greeted right away and seated quickly. The restaurant was fairly full but we got a great spot. The meals were prepared quickly and had great potions. I had the salad (caesar) and sandwich (meatball) combo and my wife and daughter both had a half pizza and salad combo. We then also shared a desert which was more than enough for the 3 of us. The dinner specials were posted and we definitely will be going back for a family supper in the near future.

I have frequented this establishment a few times over many years and it is still the same drab lack lustre restaurant it has always been, only still in business because of its location and regulars. Having servers not seat me but just point to a table, telling me to read the specials off of a dirty chalk board in the far corner, having to ask for water, cutlery, and being served by people in sweatpants are just a a few of the negative experiences. The food while tasty at times, is inconsistent. My husband and I both ordered the salmon, when they ran out of the vegetables they subbed in different ones without a mention. This establishment has the opportunity to be better but chooses not to.

After trying many places in winnipeg this place definitely was the one. I dont think I have ever had a pasta that tasted so good before. The pizza sauce was so fresh and flavorful that it made the pizza so amazing. This bistro will definitely be a regular place when coming to the city.

Indian restaurant

Buffet restaurant
Located in downtown Winnipeg, East India Company Pub & Eatery has been a family-owned establishment for over 25 years. It offers a wide range of Indian cuisine, including tandoori dishes, spiced curries, biryanis, chutneys, and pickles available on the daily buffet or a la carte. The restaurant is known for its affordable lunch and dinner buffets featuring traditional Indian appetizers, entrees, and desserts.
Back in 2013 I was in Winnipeg for work for a month, as an engineering firm was relocating from Winnipeg to the Twin Cities where I live. After work, the highlight of the evening for myself and the other Americans was going out for a good dinner around town. I'm half Indian, so quickly found this place and wanted to give it a shot. First off, I must say that growing up with Indian food almost daily and visiting India a few times, I am pretty picky. Most Indian restaurants in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area tend to be pretty bland as they're afraid of offending the Nordic locals. So I have tried many places around here and was disappointed. East India Company was a breath of fresh air. It is the best Indian food I've had outside of India. The buffet was great with so many choices, even lamb. Each of these dishes was flavorful, high quality, and hot when it should be and still flavorfully spicy when it didn't (like the tandoori chicken). The dal was top notch as was the wide array of desserts. I ended with a wonderful chai, concluding one of my best restaurant experiences ever. I've used this place as a reference for what an Indian restaurant should be ever since then, and finally last month I got a chance to take a personal trip to Winnipeg. I'm not lying when I say that part of the reason to travel 7.5 hours up north was simply to try this place again. Was it going to hold up after 13 years in my head? After kicking the snow off my boots and coming in, I smiled knowing that I was in for a treat. I took a bite of the lamb curry and it was just as good as I remembered it. I went on to other dishes and they were stunning too. I made sure to pass these compliments on to the owner. My only complaint is that I wish it was closer to me so I could eat here more often! Winnipeggers, you have a jewel on your hands. Enjoy!

My favourite Indian food buffet in Winnipeg. Very fresh, delicious and nice variety! Bonus points for a good dessert selection and the fact they label every dish, making it easy for those with allergies. Friendly and quick service too. Highly recommend this place when downtown!

I've been there multiple times for buffet. Worth to try atleast once. Recommend buffet -dessert(mango delight, i guess) is good.10/10 The first time i went, the taste was very nice. 9/10 The next time i went , I had different dishes, but still 8/10 The last time i visited the food, I felt like it was just reheated and salty couldn't eat. Veg snacks feels dry. Chicken felt uncooked. The only things good were water and desserts.

Located at downtown, no free parking. Called their resto twice to confirm if they have free parking and been told to park underground as long as no reserved parking space but unfortunately, the female owner denied what I've been told by a guy who instructed me when I called. Good thing no ticket to worry after. Brought my family and they enjoyed the buffet. Variety of choices for vegetarian, meat lover and a chutney bar. Their dish are variety from chicken, lamb, crabmeat and beef. Tried theier biryani but not the best but lots of assortment actually. You can order the flavoured naan bread at extra cost and we opted for the plain one. We got if fresh and warm. Desserts includes ice cream, mango puding (reco), rice pudding, jelibee and multiple dessert.

Went here with three friends on a recommendation, and it was absolutely worth it! The ambiance was amazing — elegant, warm, and perfect for a relaxing evening out. The food was great with so many varieties to choose from, and every dish was full of authentic flavour. The buffet price also beats most other restaurants in the city, making it a great value for what you get. Highly recommend for anyone who loves quality Indian cuisine and a welcoming atmosphere!

1 Star I visited East India Pub and Eatery with my family today, and it was an absolute disaster. The food was not just bad; it was likely spoiled, as we all came home with severe stomach issues. I personally have been dealing with gas and discomfort since we got back. To make matters worse, there was a fly sitting on the food, which is a huge hygiene red flag. On top of that, there was an older lady—who I don’t know if she was the manager or owner—walking around the restaurant being very rude. One employee informed her about the fly on our food, and she simply said she couldn’t do anything. Even while paying the bill, she was trying to force me to leave a tip. She said that usually other restaurants add 15–20% tip automatically, but she didn’t; she left it up to me. When I explained that tipping is my choice, she continued pressuring me, which was completely disrespectful. This experience was extremely disappointing, and I would not recommend this place to anyone, especially families with kids. Between the poor hygiene, bad food, and rude staff, this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had

My boyfriend and I were there for his Birthday. Food was amazing. Well, the portion for appetizer and dessert is so small but the main food was awesome. I brought his Birthday cake over there and asked them to bring it after dinner and they surprised me with sparkles and my boyfriend was so happy. Their staff are friendly.

Good service and good food My appetiser escargot Diabolo was awesome, the spring rolls were delicious, the soup a five spice Asian beef soup was just ok my bowl had very little beef while my friends had chunks of beef. The salad of mixed greens and berry vinegarete was delicious! I chose the rack of lamb for my entrée, while it tasted fabulous the portion was extremely small. Friend ordered the chicken and she loved every bite. The mashed potatoes were excellent Dessert was great however small Overall it was. Good experience may or may not be back will have to see what the menu has at the time.

A completely mellow atmosphere at lunch on a Thursday in late May. Be aware, the outdoor patio can get warm, but it's a very nice space that continues the decor of the interior. We had the good fortune to have had Dario himself waiting today, so the interactions were lively and very engaging. He is a master of the light hearted tease. The food as always was a fusion of flavors that meld into a most enjoyable gastronomic experience. The spicy pork tenderloin with mango, lives up to it's spicy name, but is well worth a try. The presentation is whimsical, as always. Without question a reliable place to find delicious fare.

I got the cheapest off the lunch menu thinking it might be subpar... I couldn't be more wrong! This stuffed chicken breast is absolutely fantastic. Might be too much to say this dish is life changing, but it is fair to say this is the best chicken breast dish I ever tasted! Found this place because of my gluten intolerant friend, and while it sounded wrong, today I thank him for that. Second picture entrees is a beef tenderloin, so good!

Pizza restaurant
Pizzeria Gusto is a popular and lively eatery located in Hargrave St. Market, offering wood-fired gourmet pizzas and authentic Italian dishes. The restaurant boasts stylish decor and a cozy atmosphere, making it a favorite spot in River Heights. It has been recognized as one of Canada's top 50 restaurants by Maclean's magazine.
Came for date with my husband. Staff was very friendly. Ordered two delicious pizzas that came quickly and were hot. The best cocktails we’ve had, William the bartender was super knowledgeable and friendly! Deserts were 10/10 as well. Will definitely be back!!

This place has been on my list for a while to try out the pizza. We tried the diavolo (scallops) to start. They were okay, but the sauce was a little bland, and not many of the flavors popped, making the price point not justifiable. We then tried The Don and Terroso pizzas. The pizza crust is probably one of the best neopolitan styled crusts in the city. We loved the unique flavors or the Terroso. We did not enjoy The Don's flavor as much. The meat combination felt off. Overall, I'd definitely come back to try some of the other pizza's, the more wild the combination, the better it seems here.

I had dinner with friends last night and ordered the Ragu Bolognese. It was just okay—not impressive. The dish was served unevenly, with some parts cold and others warm. However, the atmosphere and service were good. Don’t expect exceptionally delicious or unique food here.
Farnaz B — Google review
*This review is posted on a family member’s behalf.* Recently, my partner and I had a dinner reservation at Pizzeria Gusto, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the start. When we arrived, the greeter immediately mentioned that there was another reservation after ours. While I understand the need to manage table times, this comment felt unnecessary and created an uncomfortable sense of being rushed before we had even sat down. Two hours is more than enough time for dinner, and we would have appreciated a more welcoming introduction. The overall atmosphere followed suit. We felt more hurried than relaxed throughout the meal. To make matters worse, the food itself was not enjoyable for us. Our dishes were unexpectedly spicy, which was not indicated on the menu or by our server. This made it difficult to fully appreciate what might have otherwise been good food. In the end, what should have been a pleasant night out instead felt pressured and uncomfortable. A little more warmth in the greeting and clearer communication about the food would have gone a long way toward improving the experience. We will not be returning.

Wanted a good Margherita pizza, first time here and it hit the spot. Was happy to know they had a good non alcoholic beer, the patio area was so lovely. Will be back.
Haylee G — Google review
I have been to this location a few times and this was by far my least favourite. My friends and I sat outside on the patio and our server barely came to check in on us and was a bit too busy attending to what seemed like his friends at the table beside us. The lack of good service definitely made my friend’s birthday dinner not as enjoyable as usual. I was wanting to order another drink for about 30 minutes but a server who was a male, although I cant remember his name(lucky for him), did not even ask us if we wanted more to drink or how our food was tasting. Due to this I didn’t get another glass of wine and none of my friends ordered a second drink or desert. To be honest we were ready to leave. I am all about service and if it isn’t good it definitely does not make the overall experience or even the food taste any better. I was also a bit disappointed in my pasta. I understand it was a busy night, but if our server wasn’t so focused on talking with his friends then maybe we would have been able to have a better experience. I am not sure if I will be back anytime soon. I for sure think the management needs to have a chat with the servers to make sure they are attending to their tables properly and checking in.
Jessica B — Google review
Probably one of the worst restaurants I've been to in a long time. I was really disappointed, as my brother said great things about his previous visits, although this time he was definitely not satisfied. Maybe the cook was just bad that night. Idk. The food was awful and extremely overpriced. I ordered a seafood risotto which costed nearly $50. When I got my food, it was luke warm at best. The flavors were weird, i got a bite that was straight spices. I decided to start on the seafood. It was again, Luke warm. The scallops were raw, and slimy. They were transparent and goopy. Not only that but they were terrible quality, clearly previously frozen and not properly cooked. The texture was awful They said they are supposed to be lightly fried on both sides, but only 1 side was minimally lightly grilled. I didnt eat it. I ordered a side of sour dough bread to fill me up and that came out burnt, it was black and tasted like cardboard. It was a table of 7 and the only person who was satisfied was my 9 year old nephew. He ordered an appetizer which consisted of 5 tiny meatballs and some burnt sourdough , which cost a whopping $25...We all left hungry. The pizzas had no sauce. It basically tasted like pita bread with some garden leaves on top, but it was the most edible thing at our table. My mom ordered pickeral cheeks, but they were burnt and just tasted like burnt balls of dough. You couldnt even taste the pickeral. I would suggest you avoid this place. The music and restaurant was so loud that you couldn't even have a conversation with the person sitting beside you. Just overall a bad experience. The server was polite, but they were clearly understaffed as they didnt even check on us until we were nearly done eating.
Nic F — Google review
Stopped in today for lunch with mom. Our server admitted that today was his first day, and it showed, but he did his best. We shared the Caesar and chopped salads and the Don and Sylvia pizzas. Once ordered, everything was quick to the table, the right temperature and delicious! A note to the manager/owners - new staff need trainers or someone to float with them. Our server wasn't aware of the beer choices, which ones were unavailable, etc. A trainer would have been able to help them out.

Restaurant
Saperavi Restaurant is a unique dining spot in the heart of Winnipeg, offering a relaxed setting with seasonal outdoor seating and a full bar. As the first restaurant to introduce Georgian cuisine to the city, it brings a fusion of Middle Eastern, Western Asian, and European culinary influences. The menu features crowd-pleasers like Chkmeruli, where chicken is slow-cooked in a clay pot with a creamy garlic sauce.
We recently celebrated my Birthday in this restaurant. We ordered eggplant rolls with cheese and walnuts, shashlik, khachapuri, khinkali and Napoleon cake. Everything was delicious and fresh, beautifully served. The staff was friendly and tried to please in everything. I am very pleased. I highly recommend visiting Saperavi.

I actually flew from Calgary just to eat at this restaurant - and it was absolutely worth it! I lived in Georgia back in 2022, and ever since then, I’ve been searching for authentic Georgian food wherever I travel. When I found a cheap flight to Winnipeg for Thanksgiving, the very first thing I checked was whether there was a Georgian restaurant in town. The moment I discovered Saperavi, I booked my flight! The experience did not disappoint. I ordered Badrijani, Khachapuri Adjaruli, Khinkali, and Napoleon cake - and somehow found room for all of it. Everything was so fresh and delicious that I simply couldn’t stop eating. The flavors were truly authentic, just like what I had back in Tbilisi. I even had the pleasure of meeting Chef Larysa, a wonderful woman whose cooking instantly cured my nostalgia for Georgian food. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and full of Georgian charm. Mind you, I’m Italian born and raised - it’s not easy to satisfy my taste buds, but Saperavi absolutely did! I was only sorry that the restaurant was closed on Thanksgiving Day - otherwise, I would have gone back for another meal! I sincerely wish we had something like Saperavi in Calgary. Highly recommend to anyone craving authentic Georgian cuisine!

Danish restaurant
Bistro Dansk Restaurant Ltd has been a staple in Winnipeg since 1977, offering authentic and delicious Danish cuisine. The restaurant is known for its homestyle dishes, including schnitzel and sweet and sour cabbage, served in a cozy and charming atmosphere. Owned by Paul and Pamela Vocadlo, the restaurant has garnered a loyal fanbase over the years. It is considered one of the oldest establishments on Sherbrook Avenue, providing generous portions at great value.

Food and service were really good. The food portion is soo big that it was enough for us for 2 meals. I would actually prefer if they gave the option to order 1/2 size for less price. The chicken paprika was a pleasant surprise, it was tender and juicy and the sauce was delicious.

I recently tried Danish cuisine for the first time, and it was a memorable experience. The pork schnitzel had was perfectly crisp yet tender, a simple dish done exception ally well. The ambiance was inviting, and my server's thoughtful recommendations added a personal touch to the meal. It was a quiet yet satisfying introduction to Danish flavors, leaving me curious to explore more.

I'm not sure what took me so long to visit this gem, but I'm glad I finally did. I recommend a reservation because this place is not very big and they were packed for dinner on a Friday evening. The restaurant decor itself is a little tired however it didn't matter much to me because the food was great! The service, very efficient, one server and an assistant. They worked hard and fast to serve everyone that seemed to come in around the same time.I had the borscht to start which was pretty good. Pork schnitzel was outstanding, tasty and crispy, dinner portion comes with two and even though I loved it, no way I could eat 2. It was served with potatoes O'Brian which were okay, I'd seek a different option next time, they tasted tired and warmed up, like leftovers. Sweet and sour cabbage was very tasty. Had a side of mushroom gravy for the schnitzel but honestly it wasn't needed, it the schnitzel is out standing on its own, though the gravy was also delicious. I'd go back for sure! This is the place if your looking for fantastic comfort food. Go while you still can, I understand the owners are retiring and it is up for sale.

Lovely place. I had the pork schnitzel, sour cabbage and potatoes, and it was delicious. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. My mother is quite picky when it comes to food and had the chicken and vegetable soup which she claims was "out of this world". I will definitely be back with my family to try other menu items.

Absolutely yes Hype is real - get the pork schnitzel! They were kind enough to allow us to dine in for lunch at 1:30p even though they closed between 2-5p. Crispiest schnitzel I’ve ever had, and the cabbage on the side is so tasty. Lunch plate is an excellent portion size - you get two schnitzels! (Lunch is also better priced than dinner) I can see during busy services having one server might increase your wait time, but staff is extremely kind and humble, and I love that it’s a family business. Charming restaurant (it’s not very big) and was featured on “You Gotta Eat Here!”.

Three adult visit for a lunch! 2023 Nov A cozy European style deco and serves danish dishes. Excellent service. We ordered Borscht, Pork Schnitzel and Danish meatball with a mushroom gravy. A complimentary small basket of dinner roll and sliced baguette served. The schnitzel and the meatball were tasty but a little harder than expected (slightly different than a crisp/crunch : soft meat inside but the batter was hard does that make sense?) Overall enjoyable experience and a nice local place to visit. A decent price for the generous portion.

It's been years since I was last here.... Why did it take so long to return?? Delicious meal, friendly staff, cozy environment and enormous portions. Reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. Food was delicious. Ordered the chicken fingers + mini pancakes - perfectly savoury & sweet. The sandwich was perfect! not dry at all, flavourful, good amount of sauce, good amount of meat. Pasta salad side was great. Would order this again! Good service as well.

It’s 1st time here. I have to say it was not what I expected. Smaller & Very outdated from mixed matched tables to decades old cutlery, dishe , plastic drinking glasses.food was mediocre. Overpriced. Classic Rueben was not classic, raw sourkraut not grilled (20 Gr.)& corned beef was microwaved on classics grilled(68 Gr). Hot mustard only in 1 spot on bread, instead of thousand island. Couldn’t taste Swiss cheese, I don’t even see any., grilled greasy rye bread, clubhouse was more lettuce & cheese, tomato, than meats. Disappointed, Was not impressed. Also, the waitress had to run out to the store to buy a bag of ice, because they didn’t have ice in the restaurant. Apparently they don’t have room to store the ice. Reply to owner: Aaron Sad that you feel the need to insult a person who gave you a bad review. As for negative reviews I have given several positive reviews when they are worth positive reviews. I changed my review to 1 only because can’t leave you a Zero rating. You can be sure I will not step foot in this place again. As for the Rueben the sourkraut & corn beef was not grilled as in a classic Rueben the picture proves my review. Get over yourself Aaron! I’ll gladly accept my $45 back.

I haven't been here for over 30 years, we stopped in before Rumors. I had the Classic Reuben and my lady had the Loaded Chicken Soup. The food was great the service was excellent even with the server forgetting my drink, my only complaint would be the price. Soup and sandwich $37 this goes against alot. I always state that I'll pay for quality but, it wasn't worth that price.

Got the “Illegal Curve” sandwich , straight slapped. Sandwich was very good and Suprisingly light but very satisfying, the ingredients are clean and fresh. Got the Mozza Ball soup on the side, it was alright, nothing too special if you ask me but it wasnt bad at all. Their other soups sound very good. Very nice staff, nice atmosphere. Good job.

I come to Bernsteins often, and I very much appreciate that they have a vegan menu here. Every Christmas and thanksgiving, I come here to get the vegan beyond meat cabbage rolls and the vegan perogies that are hand made in the restaurant. The food is great! I appreciate you too Aaron! Thank you!

Back in August, we had brunch at Bernstein’s Deli, a traditional Jewish deli full of comfort and flavour ✡️🧡 I had the deluxe Reuben sandwich — stacked and savoury — plus a warm, soul-soothing bowl of Matzo Ball Soup 🥣✨ A delicious, deli-style hug in every bite. Highly recommend! 5 stars ✳️ #BrunchGoals #BernsteinsDeli #MatzoBallMagic #ReubenAndSoupKindOfDay

Went in at 11am for breakfast. I ordered the eggs, latkes with sour cream and a Bagelsmith bagel. Though we were the only ones in the restaurant for 20+ minutes, we were a bit surprised it took 40 minutes to get our food. The food was decent. The front of house staff were super friendly, though it may be advisable to remind front and back of house that conversations in the kitchen can be readily overheard on the floor, and there are some things that patrons don’t need to overhear. In terms of the store-side, there is a wide variety of products. Being a fan of soup, I was thoroughly impressed by the selection of soups in the freezer. I purchased the borscht and carrot & coconut soup - both were delicious. Additionally, I purchased a fresh baked loaf of challah; also delicious. We appreciated the wide range of vegetarian options, both on the menu and in the soup freezer. Looking forward to returning for more soup and baking.

An exceptional meal every time, regardless of the time of day. Most recently I enjoyed their Super Delicious Breakfast Wrap and it lives up to its name. Make sure you take time to come down and have a a meal here, they even do breakfast all day if you're in that kind of mood! We'll be back for sure!

King + Bannatyne is a premium sandwich shop located in the Exchange District of Winnipeg. Since its opening in 2014, it has gained a reputation for serving meticulously prepared, slow-roasted meats and vegetarian sandwiches. The industrial and modern space inside a heritage building showcases their classic sandwiches and weekly specials on a chalkboard menu.
First time here. From out of town visiting. Amazing sandwiches. Everyone looked delicious. Order the King Bann sandwich with a house made pickle and potato salad. It was all fantastic. Too much food really. Highly recommend checking them out!
Simon R — Google review
First time trying this place after hearing good things for years. It's.......ok. The Reuben was good, but not $18.75 good. The potato salad was decent. The "famous pickle" was disappointing. It should honestly just be served with the sandwiches for free. The Generic Lager is exactly how it sounds....but if somebody orders a pint, let's fill the glass with beer not foam. Look....im still giving a 4 star review here, but in the end I spent about $35 on a sandwich, potato salad, 1 pickle, and 3/4 of a pint of beer....seems a bit much.

I was keen to try a sandwich on the local red river rye bread and found this restaurant when I searched for a nearby sandwich shop. The Ruben was hands down the best sandwich I've ever had in my entire life! Honestly I wish we weren't just driving through Winnipeg because I would have gone back for a second sandwich. We got the sandwiches and sides to go with some of their delicious rosemary lemonade, but the inside of the restaurant was clean and looked very trendy. The staff were also very welcoming and accommodating. I would highly recommend this sandwich shop, in particular their Ruben sandwich.

I ordered during burger week and it was delicious. The enchillo burger was spot on though i prefer maybe toning down the sauce. Pretty great atmosphere and there's small patio outside

Amazing sandwiches and exceptional service. We were attending Jazz Fest and wanted a sandwich so we went to King and Bannatyne. We opted to order a pickle with our sandwiches because we knew from previous visits that their pickles are excellent, but they forgot to put the pickle in our take out bag and we didn't notice. We left K&B to find a place to sit with our sandwiches and enjoy the Jazz Fest. A few minutes later, I notice the server from King and Bannatyne is walking through the crowd and seems like they're looking for something or someone. Then it hits me that they might be looking for me and I realize that they must have our forgotten pickle. I make eye contact with them and they wave to me. Not only did they bring our pickle, they also gave us some complimentary chocolate chip cookies. They could have just as easily said to themselves "oh well, they forgot their pickle" and put the onus on me to go back to ask about it; instead they decided to go the extra mile and search through a crowd of people to ensure that we got what we had asked for. I will definitely be back to King and Bannatyne because they have great sandwiches and a high degree of integrity. Many kudos to you folks at King and Bannatyne.

Utterly fantastic rueben, they do not skimp on the pickles. Super friendly redheaded lady working the till. Absolutely will be back. 11/10.

Amazing food and service. Loved the Buffalo chicken sandwich but would recommend that one to eat in (not take out), as it would get messy and the bun would get too saucy. Broccoli slaw great too.
Kayla H — Google review
So disappointed! Me and my husband have been here a couple times and absolutely LOVED IT! We live out of town so we don’t eat here very often. Yesterday we made a special trip downtown for our anniversary just for the brisket sandwich; we get it everytime. It was terrible. There was so much overpowering mustard on one half of my sandwich I could’nt eat it. And the Meat was so tough and chewy on both sandwiches my husband had to throw his out and I could only eat a bit of mine. Neither of us complain very easily but for $19 each!… Whoever cut the meat should’ve have known not to put that meat in a sandwich. There was way more fat than meat and the meat was NOT CHEWABLE! There definitely needs to be some sort of quality control as it seems there’s other review similar to this one. So disappointed! I’m not sure if we will go back.

Sushi restaurant
Yujiro Japanese Restaurant in Winnipeg offers a cozy and contemporary dining experience, featuring a variety of traditional Japanese dishes such as maki rolls, tempura, and lunch bento boxes. Known for its exceptional quality and freshness of ingredients, the restaurant has been a staple for sushi in River Heights for over 20 years. Chef Edward Lam, co-owner and operator of the restaurant, introduced ramen during lunch service which quickly gained popularity and influenced other ramen restaurants to open in the city.
I really love their ramen, but it’s only available at lunchtime. If you’re missing Japan, you should definitely give it a try — the ramen tastes very close to what you’d find in Japan. The dishes and tableware are beautifully presented, and I really like the design of their menu too.
Fong L — Google review
Wonderful meal at Yujiro. The taste and appearance of the food was excellent. Charming atmosphere. Tuna carpaccio, oysters, tempura shrimp, chicken karaage, shrimp gyoza, Nagoya roll, trio dessert. White wine from Niagara, a bit sweet for our taste but nice. 🇨🇦
Kris T — Google review
Wow that place was amazing. This was the best sushi, and seafood we tried. The service was a little slow, we were waiting a bit to order, and the waiter didn't check on us for a while. But it was worth it anyways, just thinking about the food makes my mouth water. We got oysters, tuna carpacio and amazing roles with the freshest ingredients!! Highly recommend
Alona P — Google review
I hope one day Google allows for 1/2 stars, because overall Yujiro deserves a 4.5 but there was no way I could give it a 4 based on the meal we had. The food was incredible, and beautiful all at the same time, not just what we ordered but the tables around us had some of the most stunning sushi rolls and plating I’ve seen in a sushi restaurant. It made you want to constantly ask “whats that?” And why didn’t I order it! The service on the other hand could use some tweaking, friendly yes, but constantly rushed and they lost our reservation that I had to confirm at-least twice prior to arriving. Our server was so hurried they forgot about our drinks a couple times, and you feel rushed to order and to pay once you’re done. Again not just us, the tables are so close I could hear the table next to us getting the same treatment. One person actually responded “we just sat down, no we aren’t ready to order” this is why they deserve a 4.5.
Rob E — Google review
Yujiro is one of two Japanese restaurants that I personally know source much of their fish directly from Japan. That, combined with accolades for being among the top restaurants in the country, ensure that you’ll be getting top quality food. That was indeed the case, where every role was authentic and fresh. Delish and we’ll worth the price (~$30-40/person, depending on how hungry and exorbitant you are). Highly recommend the cold sake, which comes in a decanter that looks like it just came out of da Vinci’s laboratory. Got the hot sake and it just came in a traditional sake decanter with product branding and was jealous of the neighbor’s table! The ambiance is intimate and feels like you’re lucky enough to be friends with a rich Japanese chef who invited a few select guests over. Would be great for special occasions, dates, or an elegant evening out, but definitely doesn’t require such formality to enjoy! Overall, Yujiro is one of the best spots in the city for quality Japanese sushi. Can’t wait to try their ramen and donburi options in the future! If you don’t mind 75% quality at 90% the cost, the city has plentiful other options.
Morgan T — Google review
Delicious food, fresh sashimi. Beautiful restaurant. Would suggest to have printed menu rather than digital. Took us a while to order since we have to keep scrolling up and down on a tiny ipad. We came under an hour before restaurant closes after lunch and the staffs were a bit rushy. We totally understood, but were also very uncomfortable as the staff kept trying to clean our table. There weren’t much dishes for us but the coming back and forth to collect 1 thing at a time was quite unnecessary. I was almost choked on my food try to hurry myself out of there under that pressure! Other than the excessive and unsubtle rushing, it was good
Angie N — Google review
This was my first visit to Yujiro since their recent renovation, and I was genuinely impressed. The space has been completely transformed into a sleek, modern setting with warm, inviting lighting that sets the perfect mood for any occasion. Even more exciting is their revamped menu. What used to be a more traditional, bento-style offering has evolved into a bold, innovative fusion of Japanese cuisine. Chef Ed brings his unique flair to every dish, crafting sushi that surprises you with layers of texture and unexpected flavors—each bite is a creative journey. From start to finish, the food was outstanding and beautifully presented. The atmosphere strikes a great balance between upscale and comfortable, making it ideal for a cozy date night, a joyful family gathering, or a special celebration. If you're looking for a refreshing take on Japanese food that’s both delicious and thoughtfully prepared, Yujiro is definitely worth checking out.

Feast Cafe Bistro is a renowned Indigenous-owned restaurant in Canada, offering traditional local dishes with a modern twist. Since its establishment in 2016, this upmarket venue has gained significant popularity. Owned by Chef Christa Bruneau-Guenther, a member of the Peguis First Nation, the restaurant has been featured in national publications and on Food Network Canada.
Great brunch!!! Food was amazing. Everything we ordered was so tasty, huge portion sizes, and even a kids menu. Reasonably priced for portion sizes. And delicious. So many choices. Our table had brunch, we had: bison taco, bison brisket Benny, bison ramen, feast breakfast, feast pizza, kids cheese pizza, pickrel sliders (sooooo good) and desert fry breads and strawberry rhubarb pie, sweet grass icecream. Everything was delicious.

We came to visit for dinner on a hot night soon after the restaurant’s opening for the evening service. We were seated at a two top bar table right away. Being somewhat excited to taste the food we order off the rotating menu board and the standard menu to get an idea of what this restaurant is like. Tasty. We didn’t mind but were out of water with no refills before our main course came. We had to have the previous plates cleared when food came out due to the very small size of the table. We would have stayed for dessert except the sound level was greatly increasing as diners trickled in for dinner and lack of something to drink. Great art and every possibility of a great experience. Too hot and thirsty to really enjoy.

We had a nice meal at Feast, our waitress was very friendly and helped make it a nice relaxed experience.. maybe too relaxed, as things moved very slowly. I think they run a tight ship, she seemed to be the only waitress running the dinner service, which meant there was long periods between food, drink refills and the bill. The food was solid with decent portions. I wish there was more interesting apps, many seemed similar to the mains so we didn’t really try many. We left happy and very full.

I was visiting Winnipeg and took some local friends with me who had not been before. We all LOVED it. (Images are the Saskatoon Berry Smoothie, Lemon Pepper Manitoba Pickerel and Sweetgrass Creme Brulée) Service: EXCELLENT, they greeted us as we walked in, took our order quite quickly and even let us know what was not available and that the one desert was limited so we ask for it to be put aside for us, which they happily did. Food: absolutely delicious, it felt very homey but with a fancy twist. Everything felt fresh and it was hot! Not to mention our our cups never ran dry. Always filled up with water. Vibe: Nurturing - you could tell they took pride in their food and restaurant. It was small but cosy. The servers we happy to engage in conversation with us as well. Highly recommend.

A Culinary Hug from the Heart of Winnipeg 🌟 Feast Café Bistro isn’t just a restaurant, it’s an experience rooted in Indigenous pride, tradition, and hospitality. I came in for brunch… and left with something deeper. What I ordered: • BBQ Bison Ribs – fall-off-the-bone tender, rich in flavour, worth every second of the wait. • Sweetgrass Iced Tea – herbal, refreshing, and unexpectedly calming. Like sipping a story. • Bonus: the staff were incredibly kind and cooked the bison for me even though it wasn’t on the brunch menu. Indeed true legends. The space feels warm, inclusive, and grounded a quiet celebration of Indigenous culture through food. They use traditional ingredients like bannock, wild rice, sweetgrass, and bison, bringing them into delicious modern dishes that tell a story. Final Verdict: This isn’t fast food. This is food with a soul. It’s the kind of place that makes you slow down, appreciate the roots, and remember why food is about connection. Whether you’re a local or visiting Winnipeg, don’t miss this hidden gem. I’ll definitely be back.

We were excited to visit Feast Café Bistro in Winnipeg and try their bison dishes — and the food truly impressed us. Everything was full of flavour and clearly prepared with care and cultural pride. However, our experience was dampened by the service. The waitress didn’t seem welcoming or friendly, which made us feel a bit out of place as guests. With such excellent food, we hope the warmth of the service can match the quality coming from the kitchen.

Chosabi King is a great place to get a sushi burrito in Winnipeg. The restaurant offers a variety of Asian dishes, and the burritos are especially delicious. The atmosphere is modern and sleek, and the staff are friendly and helpful.
The staff was friendly, answered all my questions about meals and their ingredients and offered me try the sauce as I don’t like spicy. Jumping shrimp burrito that I ordered was fresh and very tasty. You getting more food for the sake price if compare to a regular size sushi. I’d like it to be served with a plate (not just on a tray), but I guess that’s their way to reduce cost (dirty dishes=labour) and it’s more like a self served cafe.

Been here a few times over the years, every time it’s been more and more disappointing. Fillings are slim and not as flavourful as before. Feels like cafeteria when you line up, staff aren’t that friendly and the whole experience is unmemorable.

Very cute spot in the exchange! The spice in some of their dishes can definitely be overtly strong, but the food is certainly very good. Would come back!

Picked up two items from here when I stumbled over this restaurant on my stroll. K-pop bowl with beef is super satisfying in the portion and variety of veggies. It’s a variation of bibimbap. Second item ordered is the King St. Chicken burrito. Lots of things rolled up in a seaweed sheet along with crispy chicken strips. I took bites off both before taking evidence so, meaning they are approved by me. And there’s a 10% discount when showing student ID.

I've been coming here since day one so it's been about 7 years and I must say the food has definitely drop to mediocre and expensive for the smaller portion, this was $45!!!. the location on Taylor seemed better but haven't been there in a while.

Not a Chosabi location anymore. It's Soho Kitchen and Bar, and supposedly this transition happened 3 months ago according to the new ownership. 1 star for the inconvenience of driving through the city to get to this location and for Chosabi not updating it on Google... Waste of my time.

Another great Asian fusion restaurant within the city!! The atmosphere is great for chatting with friends/family/co-workers with their open concept and seating. The Roost on Corydon is a charming spot in Little Italy, offering seasonal small plates and creative craft cocktails in a cozy, rustic-chic setting. The rooftop terrace provides a lovely space to enjoy the whimsical libations that first put Winnipeg's cocktail scene on the map back in 2015. Run by the Oddlot Collective, this century-old home turned hideaway is popular among locals and visitors alike.
Exquisite cocktails and delicious beers. Try the whole menu, because it's all delicious. Trust the staff to know how to compliment the tastes you're ordering accordingly and make you feel almost like a family member. If I could be here every week, I would. But I'll settle for the excellence once in a while. You may need to wait for a table, but it's worth it.

Overall loved the restaurant and the quaint intimate experience. Fabulous place, highly recommend.

I went here for drinks and food with a friend on a Friday after work in the summer. The patio was nicely decorated and quite beautiful, especially being a floor up from Corydon gives you a bit of a break from the street noise. The food wasn't great though for me. It just wasn't as flavorful or seasoned as I had hoped, which was disappointing given the prices. Maybe it was just an off night or what I ordered, as I've generally heard good things about this place. And our server was fairly disengaged. But the patio, as I've said, looked quite nice. The menus are a copy of something hand drawn (in a good way, very cozy and familiar) and there is a hip trendy vibe here if that's your thing.

I was really curious about The Roost after seeing it listed as #39 in "Canada's 50 Best Bars." So, while visiting MB,Canada, I knew I had to Check It Out. Luckily, we found a vacant parking spot almost directly across from The Roost’s entrance, like it was waiting just for us—haha. The warm welcome continued inside, where the server and bartender smiled at every guest as they passed by, adding to the friendly vibe. We decided to go just before sunset to really experience the chill atmosphere. The timing was perfect, with the cozy patio and evening vibe setting the mood. The drinks were amazing! Even though we didn’t try any cocktails, the mocktails we had—Pink Moon and Ginger Rogers—were extremely good. They had a homemade, creative twist that made them stand out. And the prices were reasonable—less than 10 CAD each for the mocktails. For food, we tried the pork buns and the market veggies (a delicious potato salad). Note that there are vegan-friendly (VF) options. We came to The Roost just to relax and soak in the ambiance, and it didn’t disappoint. Even with the chill in the air, the patio was a great spot to unwind before winter fully set in.

Located in a cozy spot in River Heights, Winnipeg, Petit Socco is a charming restaurant that offers a seasonal set four-course meal. Despite its small size and being run by only two people, the restaurant exudes an intimate and warm ambiance. Visitors praise the excellent service provided by the chef and knowledgeable hostess. The food is described as unique and well-paced, with each dish crafted with care. The intimate dining experience makes it perfect for a date night or gathering with friends.
Wow!!! Just wow!!! We have been waiting for Soooooo long to get in to Petit Socco and let me tell you, it was well worth the wait. Everything was incredible, from the warm inviting atmosphere, to the kind service and attention to detail, and right down to the last crumb on our plates, it was all absolutely fantastic. Petit Socco is a gem of a restaurant, a small precious space with seating for only 10 people. The husband and wife team run two seatings a night and reservations are hard to come by. Food is delicious and service is good. At $100+ per person it's not a place I'd go regularly but definitely a great place for special occasions.

Absolutely lovely place to enjoy dinner and good company. The atmosphere is intimate which is perfect for a relaxed evening out. It’s clear this is a favorite spot in the community, as reservations are usually needed most evenings (a sign of how well-loved it is) Parking is simple and stress free which makes the whole experience even smoother. A true gem for anyone who appreciates great food in a welcoming and small locally owned spot.

This is a must try! The booking can be alittle frustrating because it is very hard to get a reservation. However it works on a 30 day revolving schedule with a new day opening at noon each day. The owners are a chef/server duo and you can feel their passion the whole time. With the quaint space they do a great job at staying attentive! It's a preselected menu that they have hand selected the ingredients to pair well together. Was one of the better experiences I've had in a while.

The subdued lighting was sublime after a long day. The lovely service person, added to the perfection of the evening, with subtle water and vino replenishment, to the perfect descriptive of each service. Each dish was humbling. The flavors so deep, they defy a simple descriptive. Reflecting, I leaned over to my spouse with each different bite, to share words of passion...the cod glistened / the depth of the sauce / the dessert...no words on this world to describe the perfection....if there is one thing you should do in life, is to bless yourself with a culinary experience such as...PETIT SOCCO

A truly incredible dining experience! We loved our meal at Petit Socoo. Each dish was somehow better than the next - all fresh, elevated and full of flavour. The service was lovely and attentive, creating a warm and cozy dining atmosphere in a small space. Would 100% recommend a meal here.

We tried Petit Socco for the first time. It is a very cute small restaurant. The menu is a set menu that changes over time. We had the tempura asparagus, halibut in beurre blanc with frites, muscovy duck and beetroot, and a lemon mousse with chantilly cream. The halibut and beurre blanch was "lick the bowl clean" delicious with a perfectly balanced flavor. The muscovy duck was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The duck came with homemade bread (probably one of the best in the city) for dipping in the sauce, which tasted great. The tempura asparagus was cooked perfectly. However, using asparagus as a tempura option tastes a little odd (my preference). The lemon mousse was a very light dessert at the end, which paired well with everything. To note, the seating is close together, so it is not private/quiet. I was filled after eating here. However, if you eat large portions, keep in mind that the sizes are on the smaller side. Our server (and I think owner?) was very nice, and you could tell they loved their job. Overall, I would definitely come back to try their new menus in the future.

What a treat! Took the family to dinner tonight- I had never been here before- and will definitely be back! The food was excellent and well priced, Service was second to none! Our waiter (Howie) was excellent, very knowledgeable and personable. He made our evening!

Maxime's is a Winnipeg staple in the restaurant industry. You have free parking. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Andrew was our server, and he did an excellent job. We never had to ask for a water or coffee refill. The food menu has something for everyone. We ordered 6 different dishes, and they all looked and tasted great. When we went to order the dessert, Andrew brought put the sample dish to show us all the options. The restaurant inside is beautifully decorated. The portions were large with an affordable price point.

Atmosphere is very good. Waiters were great. I had the prime rib, was good. Not great horseradish was non existing in flavor layered it in. I might as well used butter. Zero spice. Fries were soggy. Ate two. Waiter asked i wanted any thing else to replace them. Was so turned off. Drank coffee instead.

I got food poisoning from the lobster. It had so much of a topping I feel as though they might have been hiding something since why would a lobster tail that you dip into butter have a lot of toppings on it … anyway I was violently ill with stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhea for 2 days. When I called to express my concerns the manager completely disregarded what I was telling her. She told me absolutely it wasn’t the lobster I would have known when I ate it. That is not always the case and with that much topping how would a person know if it was bad or not… the manager was very unprofessional and it was unacceptable how she handled my concern. We will never go back there and will let all our friends and family know about what happened at Maximes

We are so sad that MAXIMES is closing. My husband and I have been dining there since it originally opened as newlyweds. We have celebrated many milestones of memories as well as many other “just because we love the place dinners.” We always had amazing food and service at a great price. So sad we won’t be able to dine there one last time before they close due to high demand. There is no other restaurant in Winnipeg that comes close to Maxime’s who offers a friendly family environment and amazing food at a price anyone can afford. Wishing you a happy retirement. You will be missed.

A great experience. Our party chose this restaurant for a birthday dinner. Our server was kind, attentive, and explained the specials of the day. The menu was large and had many options. My prime rib was cooked perfectly. The toppings for the baked potato were brought to the table separately and served. It was a nice added touch. Big portions were a bonus! We will definitely return for a special occasion.

My first time here in this restaurant. I was really put off by my server and if I asked her a question then she kept snapping at me. I was very uncomfortable with her behavior. I ordered casear salad which had no cheese on it just few Romain lettuce with few croutons and lemon on the side. They taxed us on the tip part as well. Tip was added before taxes were calculated. I questioned her on it then she snapped I can remove the tip instead of answering my question. I am kind of glad they are closing down because if this is how they serve. The restaurant itself looks nice. The service was horrible.

We don’t usually go out as a family but when we do we expect high quality food and service. Our server was helpful but was constantly trying to upsell us with extras….the two pasta dishes and yam fries were underwhelming. My son’s burger was average at best. I mentioned that I didn’t enjoy my Alfredo dish and to my servers credit he took the my order of the bill. I’d give the food quality and dining experience 3/10. Didn’t get our monies worth and won’t be going back

The Keg Steakhouse + Bar - Garry Street is a delightful blend of style and casual dining, specializing in classic steak and seafood dishes that have become beloved staples. Originating nearly 50 years ago from a modest location in North Vancouver, The Keg has grown into a celebrated destination for food lovers across Canada and the U.S., boasting over 100 locations.
My friend and I came here for my birthday dinner, which we were recommended to by some other friends. Immediately from arrival, we were greeted with a warm welcome and a 'Happy birthday' from the staff. We were shown to our table, which was beautifully set with wine glasses and fabric napkins. It was beautiful, which was only complemented by the classy atmosphere. I ordered the Peppercorn New York steak, which was absolutely delicious. From previous experience, every steak I've ordered from different places has always come slightly rarer than preferred, so I always order mine as medium well. However, The Keg fully delivered on the medium well cooking state! My friend ordered the steak and lobster, to which she absolutely loved, also. The lobster came with a hot butter 'sauce', which went beautifully with the complimentary bread we received for starters. Unfortunately, I didn't catch our server's name as my share of the bill was accounted for by my friend. However our server also made me feel extremely comfortable. I am a naturally anxious person, however I felt comfortable enough to ask her a few questions about the menu. She was very kind and very friendly in addition to being very knowledgeable of the menu, including popular selections and the difference/s between different cuts of meat. If this post is read by The Keg, please know that whoever the assigned server was for Bethany Ruiter is an absolute gem! Beautiful atmosphere, incredible service and delicious food. Thank you Keg Steakhouse + Bar for making my 23rd birthday that much more special!

It is a good place. The food was mediocre. Their signature is probably steak, but the food is a bit pricier than its counterparts; however, it is possible to find a better steak elsewhere. The lack of sauce on the steak and the hamburger taste was disappointing. I was more dissatisfied with their burger as it was dry and tasted like it was not worth the price, so it was not recommended. The service was satisfactory. Seaser Salad and appetizers were regular not much to expect differently. The atmosphere was satisfactory, and the furniture was comfortable. In general, 3.5 from 5 is a good point for the place.

Haven't been to this location in more then a few years, it was on A Saturday night, and a Jets game the same night, VERY Busy, we where celebrating birthdays...I had been thinking about the Prime Rib all week, someone actually told me not to order it, its not as good as the other steaks but I thought The Keg was known for there Prime Rib? I got it, it was underwhelming, my husbands steak looked a million times better. Oh well...all in all the evening was ok and very quick, I felt very rushed to eat and we couldn't just sit back and relax, didn't seem like anyone was waiting for our table, so I'm not sure why the rush. Id go back but maybe not until later on and not at 6pm for dinner. Free cake for your birthday is nice. @TheKeg, thanks for responding but its alright.

It is a good place with cool ambience. Not many people during the visit and the take aways are wholesome. The bread is breathtakingly great. It appears the happy hour(Friday- Sunday)is cheaper for dining in and take out. Though the female washroom is a bit off, this may not necessarily be the fault of the owners as it may be difficult to do cleaning every other minute. I also think there should be airfresher in both the male and female washroom .However, there should be a sign everywhere that it is customers responsibility to flush whatever down for a cleaner space. Aside that The Keg is a place to dine with families, friends and even business partners depending on the occasion.
OLABISI O — Google review
Excellent steaks, just great food overall. Service was professional and timely which I was surprised by considering it was a Saturday night. Really have no complaints. This Keg location really knows how to nail down best of all aspects when it comes to a proper steakhouse experience. Also, note that they do have discounted parking next to the location so you don't have to look for roadside parking in downtown.

Had Luke as my server the other night. He made the night super amazing. He had the best charisma and knew how to make my family and I all laugh. The food was just unreal and everything came out in great time. Luke was amazing with frequent check ins to make sure we were all doing ok. Would definitely come back

This happened a little while ago, but I finally had some time to put my thoughts together. My partner and I went to this location for a casual dinner. Our server seemed quite busy that night — a bit more patience and attentiveness would’ve gone a long way. I ordered the prime rib and asked if the fried onions could be substituted or just removed since I’m not a fan of that side. The server flatly said no, which surprised me because I’ve made the same request at the McGillivray location before, and they accommodated it without any issue but I didn’t take it seriously. Another thing we noticed: my partner ordered the 14 oz prime rib, and I got the 10 oz, but the portions looked almost identical. We didn’t make a fuss about it at the time, but it was definitely noticeable. Overall, the food was good as always — no complaints there — but the service just wasn’t up to the usual. I mentioned this experience to some friends who’ve been long-time Keg regulars, and they encouraged me to share it since they felt that kind of service shouldn’t happen.

We had the pleasure of being invited to a wedding dinner here. The menu shows the selections available for the four course meal. Each dish was elegantly presented, full of flavour and served at a perfect temperature. There were 35 people seated at once, and the staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. The service was top notch. I would highly recommend hosting large events at this fabulous restaurant.

Our server Levi was wonderful; he was really attentive and made our night special his wine recommendation was perfect and his approach to our service was just what we wanted. We were both celebrating our birthdays & the restaurant went out of their way to hand write us birthday cards, and provide complimentary Champaign. The wood was amazing . Yes ; it’s a bit pricey but you get what you pay for . Highly recommend for special occasions .

There really aren't enough words to describe how incredible my experience at this establishment was. Everyone, from the hostess staff to our incredible waiter Chris, along with the wine connoisseur Michael, were absolutely lovely and very comfortable to interact with. Sitting inside and interacting with everyone made me feel at home. The food - some of which were my first experiences of such unique dishes - was immaculate and very well portioned for how it was priced. I'm still at awe of how amazing my evening was and how it shattered all my expectations. It's an experience that anyone - local or tourist - should experience atleast once.

I learned of the heritage of the building and business and the stories made me love it even more. I had the salmon and it was gorgeous. Crispy skin, and delightfully cooked to perfection. Thanks team 529 for a delish experience. Cheers, Spicy Jan

Restaurant
The Old Spaghetti Factory in Winnipeg is a delightful destination for families and food lovers alike, offering a charming atmosphere reminiscent of the turn-of-the-century. This beloved eatery has been serving up traditional Italian dishes since 1970, with each meal prepared fresh on-site. The restaurant features an extensive kids' menu designed specifically for children aged 12 and under, along with a fun kids club that includes birthday celebrations and exciting promotions.
We had a large group of hungry kiddos! Roxxana- our server was excellent from ‘Hello’ at the start, until we finished our lunch with a ‘Thank you and see you soon!’ She was very accommodating and always available when we needed anything. The kiddos said; She’s the best server! Delicious food as always and the bread with garlic butter was a #1 fav. We rsvp’d in advance for 12pm and got there early. But waited a bit longer for our table than expected.. Overall, wonderful lunch and the kiddos want to eat here again!

OSF is overall a really nice restaurant to come to with your family. They have the all included menu which means with your entree you also get the endless sourdough bread, soup or salad, and the ice-cream at the end! Very good prices and the food is exactly what u pay for, the atmosphere is very cool and authentic which is definitely different than most restaurants, i would definitely recommend coming by!

Haven't been back to the Old Spaghetti Factory in a number of years because I wasn't super impressed with the food the last time we were there (around 4 years ago), but definitely had any entirely different and pleasant experience yesterday! The service was great, the food was really good and the prices were very reasonable. Will be making it a point to go back since we enjoy wandering around the shops and also go for the Riverboat Cruise.

I recently visited The Old Spaghetti Factory and had an amazing experience! From the unlimited sourdough bread with garlic butter to the perfectly cooked pasta, everything was spot on. The flavors were rich and comforting, and the portions generous. The atmosphere was warm, inviting, and full of charm—giving true Italian vibes. A must-visit for anyone who loves hearty food and cozy, feel-good dining!

Love their atmosphere, staff are friendly. A bit of a wait to get in. Their lunch specials are great! Reasonable price and food portions. Kids menu is great! Big portions as well. Best part is the unlimited fresh bread!!! Love their ice cream dessert too!!

Jacob was serving us, and he was very helpful. We had lasagna and chicken spaghetti, and both were delicious. The only thing that could have been better was the chicken — it could have had a bit more sauce or been juicier, as it was a bit too crispy. The lasagna was perfect, and I would definitely try it again! They also serve butter bread and ice cream with all the meals, which were both delicious.

The old spaghetti factory has always held a special place in my bones. Coming here as a kid was always the best part of visiting the forks. The food is very reasonably priced and you get a delicious full dinner experience with soup, bread and desert. The atmosphere is awesome and definitely super cozy. Coming here with family will definitely stay in my happy memories. My only complaint would have to be parking but it’s the forks after all. Bingus Bingus.

Food was good, everyone enjoyed their meals. Everything came out in a reasonable time. No real complaints about food. Service was amazing; I believe her name was Katie. She was quick to our table for drinks, extra bread with supper, checked in with us to see how the food was, and at the end she took the time to make sure our daughters peanut allergy would not be an issue. Making sure to not have a cross contamination problem. Food was good, but I would go back just for the service. Great start for our family evening out before the show.

Our server Adison was excellent. Highly suggest getting her if possible. The food was expensive, but worth it. This is the best restaurant we've ever been to and we'll definitely return soon. They made our order right and it was absolutely delicious.

My husband and I wanted to try out a new place for our anniversary and decided on Chop Steakhouse. The restaurant was beautiful and front staff were very welcoming. Our server, Morgan went above and beyond for us. She gave us great food suggestions and made sure we were happy and had everything we needed. She was one of the best servers we’ve had in a long time. Also, the food was delicious! Overall our entire time there was amazing, and we will definitely be coming back!

Amazing food, service, and overall hospitality. We were surprised at how perfect everything was. Sampled a beer before committing to it, the (incredible!) chef personally brought out our butcher board, and our server was professional and friendly. They all seemed to care about your dining experience and that you enjoy your visit. Expensive visit, but definitely worth it. It's a step above the rest. Many thanks!!

Took my 90 year old father today. We ordered the Butcher’s Board. Amazing, steak is not easy to eat for my dad but what we ordered was so tender and flavourful, my dad ate till his hearts content. Our server was Sam and he was so helpful, definitely took care of us. It was a lovely touch to have the chef come to our table. While reserving our table they listened to our requests to accommodate us. Yes it’s definitely a place I would recommend and will be coming back.

Amazing experience! The steak was cooked perfectly — tender and full of flavor. The burger was juicy and delicious, easily one of the best I’ve had. And the dessert was the perfect finish — sweet, rich, and beautifully served. Highly recommend this place for a great meal from start to finish!

Everyone from the smiling hostess to our exceptional waiter made our 51st anniversary dinner memorable. Complimentary sampler appetizers in recognition of our first visit to Chop were delicious. French onion soup, Caesar salad, & steak were flavourful but prime rib was disappointing. The complimentary dessert to celebrate our anniversary was delightfully decadent & delicious. The anniversary card signed by staff along with gift card for free appetizer for our next visit was truly appreciated. Thank you for a lovely dining experience!
Katalin N — Google review
Overall good experience! They came out with a free starter, a tuna tartare. We ordered the escargot (a bit too salty for us), lobster & steak, prime rib and the New York steak. Steaks were done really well and prime rib was nice and tender! Had the chimichurri s a steak topper but found it a bit too salty as well. The seasonal veggies were delicious though, loved them! It wasn’t too busy and service was good! Nothing too crazy, but everything was great. Portions were very generous as well. Will definitely come back to try out their other menu items.
Kerwin P — Google review
The atmosphere here is very nice as long as you are not sitting beside a large group of people. Our first experience here was just that, and it was LOUD. On our second experience, I requested a more quiet location through my reservation and they accommodated us. I wish you would add calamari to your appetizer menu. Nothing ever really appeals to my partner and I on your current appetizer menu. Therefore, we usually end up ordering two orders of your community bread. Fantastic bread by the way! The whipped brown butter to go with it is superb! I had the steak and lobster main course and I was a little disappointed, the lobster was very tiny. I would recommend staying away from lobster for myself at least in the future. I think next time I will try shrimp or stick with the steak because I know it’s excellent. I really enjoy the steaks here, I love the crust. I love that it locks in the juices and makes the stake burst with flavour. There were a few hiccups during our visit the kitchen gave my birthday dessert to the wrong table so we had to wait a while. They graciously gave us a free appetizer for next time, but we won’t use it because unfortunately there’s a great dislike for mushrooms in my family. It’s too bad you don’t offer something other than mushrooms as your freebie. This is the second time we’ve gotten one of those anniversary cards and won’t be able to use it. I just have to note that the bathroom is gorgeous and clean! I find that most bathrooms in Winnipeg restaurants are not very nice but this one really is! We will be back!

Pizza restaurant
Santa Ana Pizzeria & Bistro, located in south St. Vital, has been a popular choice for gourmet wood-fired pizza and pasta since its opening in 2010. Chef/owner Darek Wozny's almost 40 years of experience in the pizza industry is reflected in the menu, featuring specialty pies like Hickory Chicken, Pacific, and Sicilian that are unique to this establishment. The small 50-seat eatery often requires reservations weeks in advance due to its loyal following.
First time to this quaint pizza place. We came early (4pm). Just reopened the dining area, so don’t need a reservation right now. Food is excellent, top quality pizza and fresh toppings. Friendly staff. You gotta eat here!

It wasn’t my first time here, but it had been a couple of years. The moment I walked back in a few weeks ago, I was instantly reminded of how great this place is. You need to try the Caesar salad, best in Winnipeg and all the pizzas are top notch

The dining room has been closed for a while, so dine-in is pizza and salad only right now. Just enough time for dinner between a couple of appointments. Service was prompt and friendly.

As someone who’s eaten at every pizza spot in Winnipeg, including shortys, Tommy’s etc, I just recently ordered from Santa Ana the other day and omg, The cheese pizza is to die for, The sauce has a perfect balance of savory and sweet, The cheese blend is extremely high quality “and the amount of cheese is insane” the cheese pull was amazing, I also ordered the Mexican pizza and the toppings were heavy and overflowing with goodness, and the meat was seasoned to perfection, and the crust ? WAS to die for, I don’t usually write reviews but I just had to for this business, Highly recommend.!!!

Santa Ana catering is our go-to for birthdays, graduations and get togethers. Their lasagna, crisp Caesar salad and pizzas are Winnipeg’s best! Always fresh and delicious, and everything tastes homemade (but better!)
Dana T — Google review
We used to really enjoy this place, but our recent experience was quite disappointing. We ordered two veggie pizzas for a small birthday get-together, and the quality was not up to the usual standard. The pizzas were undercooked, dry, and lacked flavor. It seemed like they may have been rushed, as the order was placed about 30 minutes before closing time. It was disheartening, especially for a special occasion. It would be appreciated if we could receive a refund or some form of compensation for this experience.
Kapil V — Google review
This restaurant is in a strip mall but don't let the ordinary facade trick into thinking this is an ordinary pizza joint. Located in the strip mall there is eay more parking than ever could be used. However there is a limited amount of seating inside so it would be prudent to reserve well ahead of the date you want. Friendly staff sat us quickly. They have comfortable seats in a lovely atmosphere. They have decent sized menu starters, pasta, pizzas and salads etc. They had 11" wood fired pizza and 15" stone baked pizza, which we could have had thin crust or the regular (we chose the regular). Both pizzas were cooked right, neither being doughy/undercooked nor charred/hard and dry. Our loaded pizzas were just right. The regular crust on the 15" was awesome. The crust wasn't greasy. The crust light and airy. It was cooked but neither doughy or tough. Even the edges didn't get hard or crusty, just the right amount of chew. The wood fired 11" was very good, the dough handled the toppings without getting soggy and the crust wasn't burned or dried out. The quality of the toppings were very tasty and the pizzas were very filling. Everything we saw that came out of the kitchen looked really tasty. Don't let the exterior fool you, this is one great restaurant. We will be back.

Santa Ana is one of our go to places for pizza and pasta as we always have a great experience and enjoy our meals. We also recently used Santa Ana to cater our wedding of 70 people- the team at Santa Ana was great to work with and our guests loved the selection of pizzas, pastas and salads. This Modern French restaurant offers an intriguing lineup of dishes blending traditional and contemporary flavors. Our meal started with the complimentary bread basket, which was warm, perfectly crusty, and simply delightful! We sampled a variety of dishes, including the escargots, duck confit pot stickers, schnitzel, burger, risotto, and crème brûlée. Overall, we had a good experience exploring new dishes. The service was decent, food and the ambiance was satisfactory. If you’re looking for an interesting take on French cuisine, try Inferno’s Bistro.

We had a wonderful experience and an absolutely delicious meal. The shrimp risotto was outstanding — creamy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The patio is beautiful, creating a lovely atmosphere, and the service was warm and attentive throughout. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more dishes!
Marianne M — Google review
We had the soup and salad. A kids fettuccine. Veil schnitzel. The schnitzel was good with fresh vegetables. The soup was large but it just tasted like it had a pile of thyme dumped into it and the vegetables were just tossed in raw into watery broth boiled and served. The cheesy toast on top of the soup had a weird sweet taste I couldn’t figure out but it didn’t seem to match the soup. The salad tasted like an orange soap and I think ingredients were missing. Didn’t eat most of our meals. Also like most patio restaurants lately they make rules about the larger table that don’t make sense. The best seats with shade and nicer tables were all 5 seats. We were 3 and the it was 20% capacity. Just let it go to make customers happy unless it’s busy. Also our table was super wobbly and this is a such small detail that can make customers uncomfortable during their visit that is so noticeable by all staff.

What a fantastic find. While walking with intentions of going to a place nearby, we noticed this cool little place with a patio. Very glad we stopped in! Buffalo frog legs, steak tartare, calamari - all incredible.

Update: went back- just as amazing as the first time, we got the calamari to share and wow!! So delicious- must get! Carlos was our server again, super attentive and funny! We brought my family and they absolutely loved it here! I had come here once before about 8 years ago and it is still just as great! Amazing service, we came and there was live music which was lovely - felt like we weren't in Winnipeg anymore. We were informed that they do live music wednesdays and thursdays when the weather is nice and on the patio but our server also recommended calling to check if that is something youre looking for. Our server was very attentive and brought us a second helping of bread which was delicious and so nice. The food was also amazing - and I love the strawberry pie here. We will 100% be coming back. Street parking wasn't too hard to find on a Friday evening.

Dinner was outstanding and our server was fantastic. We ordered the lamb shank and the beef shank special. Both were superb. The Lamb didn't have a hint of gameyness and the beef fell off the bone. The sides were all delicious, and the French onion soup was salty and so tasty! My old fashioned was made with bullet and was great with the meal. My only complaint was I didn't have room for the desserts which looked SO good!! The restaurant is small, bordering between cozy and crowded, but the outdoor patio looks like it will be spectacular when it opens in the spring. I will definitely be making a trip back!

Had our 45th wedding anniversary there today. We started with the pork spring rolls, which were fine. Then I had the ribs and my husband had the ribeye steak. They were both delicious. Carlos our waiter was energetic and very friendly who made our evening enjoyable.

SMITH Restaurant, located at Inn at the Forks in Winnipeg, Manitoba, offers a unique dining experience with its woods-chic ambiance and seasonal menu. The restaurant's decor seamlessly blends modern elegance with rustic charm, creating a cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere suitable for special occasions or casual gatherings. The menu features select, locally sourced fare including prairie proteins like Arctic char and rabbit, as well as Canadian beef prepared in various ways.
Had dinner here and it was amazing! The food was super delicious and full of flavor. The service was great — everyone was really friendly and made us feel welcome. Such a nice spot for a chill evening. Definitely coming back!

This restaurant is absolutely stunning!✨✨✨✨✨ The service was truly exceptional, and the food was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. The bathrooms were impeccably clean, and the spacious layout provided a peaceful ambiance, making it an ideal spot for large groups and events. The drinks menu is impressive, and the soup of the day was incredible and very filling. The halibut is a must-try if you get the chance. While the menu is geared towards high-end adult tastes, they also offer a children's menu, making it a great option for family outings or date nights. Although the prices are a bit on the higher side, it's understandable given the upscale quality. One thing to note is that parking is limited and not free, so it's best to arrive early to secure a spot and avoid a long walk, especially in heels.👠🥰

It’s a beautiful space, but the service was distracted, and the food was mixed. I was careful to order only a couple of items given the poor reviews, especially on how meat was cooked. We had the pounded cheddar, the hummus, the meatballs, and the hamburger with truffle fries. We had a flight of local beers as well and a couple of Stella Artois. All of these dishes were good. The pounded cheddar is such an appealing item, but the vinegar is really offputting. Quite frankly, I’m surprised it’s on the menu. It would take nothing to remove the vinegar from the recipe. The hummus was excellent. The meatballs were even better and the hamburger was really good.

Went to SMITH while in Winnipeg last week and enjoyed the experience. The food is excellent and the gnocchi was some of the best I've had. It was light and fluffy with a well balanced sauce and oyster mushrooms. The creme brulee was also excellent, not too sweet and with a good crust on top. Overall they have a good wine and cocktail list with decent selection. Our table was a large group and it was odd to have only one server bringing food out, eventually they had a second server help but it was after most meals had been sitting waiting a bit too long. Otherwise our server Jenna was excellent, very personable and did a good job managing a large group on her own. The space is cute with a bit of a mid-century hipster vibe. The downside is that it is very loud and the acoustics in the space are tough with high reverberation levels. Which makes speaking to or hearing those at your table very difficult. Some sound buffering materials on the ceiling would help immensely. The restaurant does close early some nights and was closing by 10pm our first night which meant we had to go elsewhere for supper due to a late flight.

The Smith is one of the only restaurants at the Forks that I would bring business clients to. Overall did not disappoint. The tuna appetizer was flavourful but very tiny, I would not order again. I had the Salmon special which was tasty, Brussels sprouts bang on and my guest said the risotto was cooked perfect. Service was great and only complaint was the martini I had. I asked for it dirty but they went overboard with the olive juice. I should have sent it back. If in the forks area and looking for a higher end restaurant, the Smith won’t disappoint.

Wonderful food and service. Tried breakfast here and the pancakes were some of the best I have ever had. Highly recommended as the location is prime, atmosphere is excellent and you get one of the best restaurant experiences here in all of Winnipeg.

Always a great breakfast. Chia seed pudding is amazing and a nice big bowl of fruit. Service was fantastic as Liberty is a gem of a human.

We had a babysitter to go out for a nice dinner, and although the restaurant was almost completely empty, we were sat immediately next to the one family with a screaming baby. The food was really pretty good, however we ordered an appetizer that just didn’t ever show up. The service was extremely slow (for example, we ordered a beer before we got food and it didn’t arrive until we were finished our dinner). Essentially although food was good, it just wasn’t a professionally done restaurant experience.

JOEY Polo Park offers delicious food and a luxurious atmosphere. The staff are friendly and the restaurant is clean and safe. The price for food can be a bit expensive, but it is worth it for the deliciousness of the dishes.
I had an excellent dining experience here. They have a full bar, and the drinks were great! The menu is awesome, and literally, you can't go wrong here. The food is delicious, the servers are top notch, the establishment is extremely clean, and they have an outdoor patio that is 2nd to none - complete with its own bar and a clear roof that opens and closes depending on the weather! The friendliness we encountered made the dining experience that much better! Thank you for doing a great job! I will make this a destination for me each time I'm in the Peg moving forward!

On a roadtrip from Ontario to Alberta and decided to stop by for lunch here. Service is excellent, hostess is super nice! I ordered the Chili Chicken as an appetizer and it is one of the best dishes I have eaten recently which is why its photo is the star of this review. Another dish I ordered is the Classic Steak, they got the temperature perfect and it had a crispy mashed potato side which was both interesting and delicious! This place is definitely a spot to go back and try other offerings and the interior is very classy and superb.

We tried Joey and it is always good. I have tried this restaurant in other cities as well they have good food. Server was very friendly and she let us have Guacamole before happy hours. Food was very good. One of my favourite restaurant. We had steak and it was delicious and fresh . Drinks were good as well. Thanks

Fantastic experience. We visited JOEY after walking out of a restaurant across the street for lack of service. To us, this was a very good move. JOEY was full that night but staff were quite accommodating while waiting for a seat. Our server visited the table almost immediately from sitting to take our order and the food was fresh and tasty. Our server was on her game with food and drink recommendations, topping off this great visit. The Steak w/ Lobster Spaghetti. Perfectly rare steak, cream sauce was full of flavour and lobster chunks. Highly recommended. Ahi Tuna Club. Grilled rare Ahi Tuna with bacon,, sweet pepper relish and onion rings. Server recommended. This sandwich had SO much flavour and not at all what we expected, we almost ordered a second to go. And the dish that brought us to JOEY, Crème Brûlée cheesecake. Light, fluffy and delicious. We will be back.

Promenade Café and Wine is a French restaurant with an intimate vibe that presents local French recipes and homemade desserts. The food is well-prepared and the atmosphere is inviting, perfect for meeting friends for breakfast or drinks after work. With parking nearby and highchairs available, this café is great for families as well.
One of the best places to eat in Winnipeg. The service was outstanding and friendly, not only were we greeted and helped by a staff member when we first came in, but while waiting to be seated another staff member offered to help. The food is amazing and speaks for itself. Our kiddo's couldn’t even answer when our waiter asked how the food was as they were enjoying their food so much! There wasn't a bad dish from anything we ordered, but favorites include the Chicken and Waffles, The OG Burger, The Breakfast Sandwich, Smashed Hash Pork Belly, Pickerel Bites, and the French Toast! The environment is super clean, relaxing and inviting. The natural lighting in the restaurant is very comfortable and has an incredible view to the Provencher Bridge. Promenade is definitely the place to go for any foodie and a wonderful place to bring family and friends. We are looking forward to coming back!

Promenade Brasserie is a must-visit, and their breakfast is exceptional. The view of the Esplanade Riel Bridge from our window was the perfect way to start the morning (with a glass of their house rosé!). The food was incredible, especially the Chicken & Waffle. It was a truly perfect combination: wonderfully crunchy fried chicken, a sweet waffle, and a unique tangy pickle layer that made the dish absolutely stand out. The French Chicken Toast was also delicious—juicy, crunchy chicken topped with a perfectly cooked egg. Service was highly attentive. When a small error was made with our order, the staff quickly corrected it and even brought us the French Toast on the house! It was beautiful, with fresh fruit and the perfect amount of sweet syrup. We ended the meal with the Dessert Flight, a unique offering of four different sweets, perfectly rounded out with whipped cream. Verdict: Promenade Brasserie offers a top-tier dining experience with genuinely delicious food and impeccable service. Five stars!

The food and service here are outstanding! I was greeted with a warm smile the moment I walked in, and both Jay and my server, Kat, were very attentive. I was also blown away by the beautiful presentation of the dish. I had the French toast, which was so fluffy, and it paired well with all the toppings. The iced honey rosemary cobbler was really refreshing too! I truly enjoyed every second of it. I can’t wait to come back to try their other dishes!

Wow! A delicious culinary experience. As a visitor to Winnipeg I wanted a genuine taste of the province and I found it here. Locally sourced ingredients in delicious preparation. I had spiced corn to start and Venison Carpaccio was my selection and both were excellent. My only regret was that I was a party of one. If I had been with friends we might have expanded our culinary sampling to include the elk, bison and pickerel. Trying to persuade your mother-in-law that is not all strange culinary delights? You'll find fried chicken on the menu. But as a foodie I can't say enough about the quality, the value, but most of all the flavour. Very friendly staff as a bonus. My favorite stop in Winnipeg.

Found this gem while driving across Canada. Unique menu, including Métis-inspired dishes. Amazing food, excellent and attentive service, and one of the best views of Winnipeg from their patio. Smoked trout was incredible, both as eggs Benedict (on bannock) and with herb ricotta spread, capers, pickled shallots and lemon on fry bread. Walking distance from The Forks.

I'm not sure what is better here. The food or the amazingly friendly service. Our son in law recommended the this restaurant as well as their eggs benedict. Arguably the best in the city with a bannock base and the option of fresh sausage made with sage and Saskatoons. You won't be disappointed.

Excellent beer selection and tasty shrimp appetizer. The Peach Tea Blonde was outstanding. The Boss Burger was massive, definitely not for the faint of heart. Great service and a welcoming atmosphere. You can also grab some of their select beers to-go along with a decent range of merchandise.

I tried two of their burgers — the Classy Viking and the Brazen Butter Burger. Both were flavorful and satisfying. The quality was good though I found the prices a bit on the higher side for what you get. The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, and the staff were super friendly. A special shout-out to our waitress, who was very attentive and helpful, though I regret not catching her name. The only downside was the mojito I initially received. The mint leaves were not fresh — they looked wilted and lacked flavor, as shown in the photos. I asked for a replacement, and thankfully, the second one came with fresh mint and tasted much better.

Nice atmosphere and clean restaurant. Food is mediocre and very pricy for what you get. $46 for three strips of brisket and 4 bones of ribs. Beer is good and I’d go back for drinks, maybe apps, but not dinner.

beer: amazing service: amazing atmosphere: amazing food: hit or miss got the ASADO STEAK SANDWICH for $29 it was a piece of bread with a well done piece of steak on it. this is a picture of THE MIDDLE of the steak. the taste of burnt stuck around in my mouth for hours and I had to chew for days. never have I ever had a drier piece of meat. A redeemer is my partner got a burger and it was pretty good. I would say the menu leans on the pricier side with smaller portions. It feels like they are aiming for high end but don't have the quality to back it up. The beer on the other hand is fantastic. good range and flavors. And finally the staff were very attentive, and nice.

Cafe Carlo is a cozy Canadian bistro located in Corydon Village, Winnipeg. This long-standing restaurant offers a diverse menu with Italian and Asian influences. Known for its warm and welcoming atmosphere, it's a popular spot for casual meals or special occasions. The restaurant's location in the heart of Little Italy ensures top-notch Italian cuisine.
Amazing food. Quint little place. Loved the broccoli appetizer. Bruschetta was good, but not as good as Cibo. Spring rolls were very good and I loved that the dipping sauce was so spicy (maybe too spicy for some). Ceasar salad was good, but the Fett Chili pasta stole the show. Still dreaming about it. Good wine menu. Chef special vermicelli pasta and rosé sauce with meatballs was great. Meatballs were very special. Weird, but it was the first time I try creme brûlé. Was great but I have no point of reference. Great coffee too, which is important. Waitress did not bother us all the time but did follow up to make sure all was good after serving the food. I'll go again for sure! It's a different and refreshing kind of alternative.

6 months ago I wrote a review on Cafe Carlo, below, today I'm pleased to announce they're awesome! Food is consistently good and so is the service, just a little too tiny for my liking. Overall this place is a five-star experience, I'll continue to dine at CC and keep you posted :). The following is my old review from 6 months ago: I'm not fully convinced this is a five-star joint, yet! I've ate here four times in the past three months and each time they miss something. First off, street parking is busy but manageable, entering is not fully welcoming due to its congestion and semi attentive staff, and if you have a coat, no place to hang it. One of the main issues here is its size to table ratio, if you’re not careful walking in you’ll take out the couple seated just inside the entrance, in general, close quarters. Service is also hit or miss, one server was all around perfect, while another had sprinkles of attitude and arrogance, it left a bad taste. Price is appropriate for what’s offered, you can have a salad and chowder and walk away unscathed or dig into the rack of lamb or seafood cannelloni and you can expect 40-70 bucks a plate, appropriate. The food! If Carlo is on his game, you won’t be disappointed, however, if he’s having a crap day you will be. On a good day five stars all around, this is why CC has a great reputation, when their on, it’s amazing. Seafood Cannelloni on a Monday was over cooked and unfresh, on a Friday, spectacular! Consistency is what’s missing, maintaining a high standard across the board is needed. Folks can’t afford to treat themselves and have a subpar experience, they won’t come back. CC has an opportunity to improve guests experience making it a must. I can’t bring myself to give it a 5, it’s somewhere between 3 and 4. I’m going to keep going back and I’ll update my review if warranted, good luck CC!

We discovered this place about 5 years ago and since then we have dined here close to 25 times. Birthdays, anniversaries, or just because we're missing it. The food is delicious and is consistently at a very high quality and identical each time. The mocktails are great and have quality ingredients for a fair price. The appetizers are great and honestly can't go wrong with any of them. The steak bites and fried chicken are great. I have had every dinner option on the menu and enjoy them all. Desserts are amazing as well. We love Cafe Carlo!

A Rare Gem in the City Carlo Cafe is a delightful mix of a family restaurant, a relaxing atmosphere, and delicious food. Here's what we ordered: Calamari - 4/5: A bit too oily, but overall, not bad. Crunchy Shrimps - 5/5: Perfect crust and sauce. Bruschetta - 5/5: Tender with a well-balanced taste. Seafood Chowder - 5/5: The sweetness from clams and scallops, combined with a thick and rich broth, made this dish outstanding. Seafood Cannelloni - 6/5: This was the highlight for both me and my wife. A generous portion of protein, perfectly cooked homemade pasta stuffed with cheese, herbs, and shrimp. The balance of dough and stuffing was spot on. The thick and tasty gravy paired with a deliciously grilled lobster tail made it exceptional. We would definitely come again. Note: Unfortunately, our photos didn't turn out as well as we hoped.

Ice cream shop
BDI (Bridge Drive-In) is a seasonal ice cream stand that has been a Winnipeg classic since 1957. Located at 766 Jubilee Ave., it offers 11 flavors of soft serve, sundaes, and shakes. The stand caters to dietary preferences with vegan vanilla soft serve that can be added to any specialty item and a monthly rotating vegan flavor.
Located near the entrance of the historic Elm Park Bridge, the Bridge Drive-In ('BDI') is a place to revisit childhood memories. It’s fantastic that such a superb place for ice cream treats remains in service to all who love it. The retro drive-in atmosphere is fun and whimsical. They offer all sorts of sweet and savory straight-up soft-serve ice cream cones, shakes, flurries, and sundaes. As well, there are unique house-made specialties and sodas. The portion of the twist cones is so generous, ask for a dish. Then you can tip it on its side and enjoy before it melts and drips. I highly recommend the Maple Walnut Ice Cream Cone. Popular flavors are Fudge Brownie, Mango, Kit Kat, Spanish Nuts, and Birthday Cake. Kids can order dipped cones in a variety of flavors: Hot Raspberry, Key Lime, Cookies & Cream, Coconut, Cantaloupe, and more. A young girl in front of us ordered one and it came different from her expectations. The staff were quick and willing to give another one. They provide several round concrete tables in the shade. Or it’s lovely to walk over the bridge and take in views of the red river while enjoying your BDI Ice Cream treat. It was well-staffed, and orders came fast enough. It’s ideal for families. No restrooms are available. There is some parking available. Highly recommended. For all quests, may we request that you clean up after your experience.

The BDI is always fantastic. I try to go whenever I visit Winnipeg. I love the Goog Special but they have so many other great ice cream dishes. They give you a lot of ice-cream too. Life is short. Go to the BDI!
Glenn K — Google review
The quality of the ice-cream was below average. In fact, I really wouldn't recommend it. This place caters to the person who wants to eat a disgusting amount of ice-cream for a reasonable price and gives the consumer power to customize gargantuan monstrosities. However, behind the gimmickry of topping choice, the product is lack-lustre. The location is beautiful. There are no washrooms or indoor seating. There is a fair amount of parking. The line moves quickly. The staff are chipper. The place had lots of people meeting up, mingling and mulling about. Pleasant atmosphere.
A. B — Google review
One of the things that really stood out to me was the serving size — it was incredibly generous. Whether you’re getting a classic cone or one of their specialty sundaes, you definitely get your money’s worth. It’s perfect for sharing, or if you have a big sweet tooth, even better to enjoy all on your own. The portions are satisfying without feeling over-the-top, and it adds to the overall value of the experience. You can tell they care about giving their customers a treat that feels both indulgent and worth every cent

Awesome ice cream, all sorts of different kinds that you can't really find at many other places. (The picture of the ice cream below is the parfait). Depending on what ice cream you order, they put in actual fruit, and it's pretty affordable (as far as fruit in ice cream goes). Really long line up though, so expect a while before being served. Would totally go again!

Stopped by BDI on a beautiful evening after a relaxing motorcycle ride, looking for a sweet treat—and it hit the spot. The lineup was long (as it usually is on a nice day), and I’ll admit, some people might drive by when they see it. But trust me—don’t. It’s absolutely worth the wait. Despite the crowd, the line moves fairly quickly, and the staff keeps things running smoothly. I ordered a medium vanilla cone, chocolate-dipped and rolled in nuts—delicious, but huge! I’ll probably go for a small next time, just to save room. I don’t make it out here often, but every visit reminds me why BDI is such a beloved Winnipeg landmark. Great treats, classic vibe, and a staple of summer in the city.
Eric S — Google review
A classic spot for a reason. The Honey and cinnamon milkshake is my absolute fave. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever had. For a place seemingly run by a bunch of teenagers, it’s pretty smooth. Sometimes there’s only one window open and a few kids in the back which can make the line take a while, and parking is often bananas.
Tiara — Google review
A Winnipeg institution for all things creamy and delicious. I always make a pilgrimage to BDI whenever I’m back in the city. Creamy soft serve, novelties crafted to perfection, and quick and efficient staff. In my recollection they were cash only, but now appear to accept all manner of cards. My personal go-to is the mighty Saltzberg, but on your first trip, I’d advise a Goog. Great place for a walk thereafter, too.

With its globally inspired menu and lively bar scene, it provides a memorable dining and nightlife experience for food enthusiasts and night owls. The restaurant's commitment to delivering an enjoyable experience is evident in its creative culinary offerings, which include street food from 14 different countries across Asia and Latin America.

While being rerouted, we had to stay in Winnipeg. After checking in the hotel, we went to the restaurant to dine. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and both the hostesses Nicole and Ally were superb. Very pleasant and friendly and accommodating for us. Being a vegetarian can be a problem but not with these two ladies. They took our dining experience to another level. I thank them from the bottom of my heart and wish all the good luck. Keep up the great work ladies. Thank you on e more.

It was our party's first time at The Merchant Kitchen. The service was attentive and our server was very genuine. The menu was a little on the smaller side but presented some interesting options. Our server explained the menu and mentioned that the food was served family style. Our party decided on purchasing individual appetizers and we decided on the Grilled Corn. The corn was seasoned well, however, the tortilla chips lacked flavour, almost as if they were store-bought. The menu was priced on the higher side, although justifiable, as it was a more classier atmosphere.

Merchant Kitchen describes the food as Asian Fusion but to me it’s more in line with Latin/South American along with Asian dishes. Best of both worlds yet oddly confusing 😆. Love the vibe of the place and the bar. Love me some good cocktails. Limited cocktail menu but will make whatever your heart desires. Aston Margarita is a solid classic margarita. A polarizing cocktail is the Cafe Lima. If you like it and finish it, you need your picture posted at the bar 😂. Your palate is unique. Service was fantastic and attentive for a busy night. Recommend as a great place pre-event downtown.

The food was good, we had wings which were delicious. We also tried the fried rice, the noodles and the tacos. Everything was good, the tacos are a bit expensive for the quantity but it was good. We also tried chocolat tart and lime tart, both were delicious. The wine is super expensive , good cocktails a bit expensive too. Overall a good experience. But the place is very noisy which makes it hard to have a discussion with everyone at the table. 100 bucks for 1 cocktail, 1 beer, 1 glass 6oz wine, noodles, tacos and 1 dessert, is a bir pricey ( price for 2 ). I'd still recommand, not sure I would go back because of the noise.

We went with a big group of friends and got the buffet menu for $35. Food was okay and the portion size was fair too. After finishing our food I did a little calculation and the buffet menu we tried - if we were to order them individually would have been cheaper than the buffet? Not sure if it was a good deal since the buffet is not unlimited amount of food. Drink menu is good and they have quite a lot of tequila and mezcal shots/sips. Good place to go with friends but price wasn't really reasonable. The Korean chicken is nothing close to a korean chicken at all. Sauces were not close to Korean style either.

Heard great things about this restaurant but found it to be somewhat average. Corn with nachos tasted like canned corn with some cheese on top. Korean chicken was basic fried chicken and nothing more. Dandan noodles were good again but nothing special except sauce was tasty. After hearing good reviews I was disappointed and found it pricey for what you received. Pleasant service

Great drinks! The Non alcoholic margaritas are very good and the regular ones are a refreshing treat! Dan dan noodles were very tasty not too spicy. Tacos were good as well, mild but good. Really great place to grab a bite before the concert or game

Chaise Café & Lounge is a warm and casual eatery that offers fixed-price Italian meals served family-style, along with a shaded patio for outdoor dining. On weekends, they serve a delightful three-course brunch featuring bagels, savory egg dishes, and sweet treats for $20 inclusive of tea and coffee. The restaurant specializes in family-style prix fixe dining with unlimited salads, appetizers, pastas, and pizzas.
My mom and I had the Sunday brunch and it was delicious!! Our server, Kathy, was amazing! I'd definitely recommend eating here. I don't think I've ever tasted so many flavors in one meal! And the outdoor eating area is beautiful, with tons of flowers that makes it very cozy. A place I'll stop at again whenI'm in Winnipeg!

Amazing food amazing portions. It was truly a treat and a great experience. The set menu was great and all of the food was paired perfectly. Shout out to the risotto balls and the beets… so tasty. Rachena was a great server with good energy and very attentive. Will come back again

I wouldn’t call this fancy, but it was good. It was family style comfort food. Huge portions. The fettuccini was rich (so creamy) and risotto balls were good. The pizza was nice. The charred romaine with capers was good. The poutine was good; which makes me think their breakfast potatoes will be good. The chocolate zen mousse was good but the crust was like leche cake (wet cake). Maybe better as a crust? Minor complaint; too much flaked Parmesan - it was on several dishes. The drink menu was extensive but I didn’t see a zero proof section. I didn’t feel like asking, but I think that would be a welcome addition. Really great service. Andre is very experienced; he was great. Nice ambiance on the patio, though the interior looked cozy too. The whole restaurant had a nice feel. It was clean. The bathroom was clean. I appreciate the waterless urinal. One some small weird detail that could be improved. When the cheque was presented, it was in a CIBC folio which struck me as out of place. Plan to be back with the kids, probably for brunch. I would recommend this restaurant.

Chaise is one of my favourite brunch places! Having a membership that allows me the best prices is certainly a bonus. The menu changes weekly, making it a new culinary experience every visit. A talented chef and friendly, welcoming servers enhance the dining experience. The family style dining would not fly very well with someone like Joey Tribbiani (Friends). As someone who grew up in a family that would share their meals, this is a fantastic way to sample several different food choices. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable, and there is a beautiful patio in the summer. Overall, Chaise is a gem. The ever-changing menu, delicious food, cozy atmosphere, and terrific service make it a must-visit for any brunch lover. Whether you're a regular or a first-timer, you're guaranteed to have a memorable and enjoyable dining experience. Looking forward to brunch this weekend!

Chaise Cafe is like this cozy spot in a converted house that's perfect for a chill hangout with friends or family. What's cool is they switch up their menu every day based on what they can get their hands on. You pay a flat rate per person, and they hook you up with a medium-small serving of the day's savory dish, kinda like tapas style. You can go back for seconds or thirds if you're feeling it. They offer this membership thingy for discounts, but honestly, I just tag along with my kid 'cause they're already a member. So, win-win. Getting there's a breeze – the #10 bus practically drops you off at the doorstep, and if you're driving, street parking's the way to go. Both the desserts were so yummy. Kathy & Adam were both very sweet and gave good recommendations on food and drinks

If you want to try an amazing experience, Chaise is the place to go in Winnipeg! Driven by this hidden gem countless of times over the years and finally had the chance to go! We were not disappointed! It's based on a first course and second course. First course: 2 appetizers are brought out and 4 salads to sample all. Second course are 2 pastas and 2 pizzas. This changes everyday! You are welcome to have more of anything you liked too! There are also 4 meats to choose from that will cost you an extra $15.00. You probably don't need it cause everything is so filling, but when the mentioned the Tiger Prawns in a creamy garlic sauce, I was hooked! There are also delicious desserts to choose from and a very selective drink menu. Staff was superb! Marvin was a joy and super friendly! Thanks for the most fabulous experience I have had in a while!

This is one of Winnipeg's gems! The food is amazing! Great variety and definitely large portions! The fixed prix menu is defintiely worth it...best value in the city! The quantity is there, quality is top notch and value is unbeatable. Great service, Rachena is always amazing! Definitely need to take more of my family and friends here!
Joy T — Google review
Update: I feel obliged to retract my previous recommendation. The ownership is now intentionally refusing to follow covid safety regulations. I will not go to a place that puts its staff or myself at risk, and certainly wouldn't encourage anyone else to either. Original: This is my go-to weekend brunch location! The brunch menu is a two course meal and changes a little every week now (they always have bacon). Sometimes it's great, and sometimes it's spectacular. If you're a picky eater you can call ahead to find out what the menu is. I've been for dinner and lunch a few times too and that's also amazing! They are fantastic at providing vegetarian options and other options for all kinds of food restrictions. It's not a fast food restaurant people - I don't know why anyone is complaining about the speed of the service. The whole idea is that you talk to the friends/family you came with and take your time enjoying the meal.

Clay Oven has two locations, one in the South End and another at Shaw Park with a view of the Goldeyes baseball field. The sleek dining rooms are adorned with modern lighting fixtures and stylish decor. Dishes are served sizzling on cast iron platters or in elegant metal dishes, offering vibrant curries, charred naan, and tandoori-cooked meats. This restaurant is known for its flavorful gluten-free options like butter chicken and lentil-based bread.
We had an amazing experience at Clay Oven, all thanks to Mohammad Rehman! We ordered two Tikki plates and they were absolutely delicious — fresh, flavourful, and perfectly served. What truly made our visit special was Mohammad’s outstanding service. He was friendly, professional, and made us feel genuinely welcomed. We had recently visited another Clay Oven location in Edmonton, and the experience there didn’t come close to this one. Mohammad really made a difference, and he truly deserves recognition for his excellent work. Highly recommended!

I had a delivery takeout for the food and deluxe chef Biryani and lamb curry, and the biryani had a really great amount of meat. It had chicken lamb and shrimps The food portion was really nice. But it had a lot of other things like vegetables, which made the taste a bit more unappeasing. Suggestion can provide a piece of lemon and onion. That would really enhance the taste of Biryani . For the other dish lamb curry, it had a lot of red color. The base was good, but again, with a lot of color, it was okay. Suggestion: Let the dish have its own original color. I would rate the food 8/10.

Really bad experience with clay oven recently. We order appetizers and 3 mango mint drinks. Initially they served us wrong and when we ask them to replace then it looks like they just added some sort of flavour in the same drinks as every drink was different in colour. Even though food was good highly appreciate the cook and line cook guys for delicious food but the servers are not good they are mixing up the orders and the everything was delayed.

’m extremely disappointed with my experience for someone who’s been going to clay oven ever since it opened. To the Muslim community of Winnipeg this is important. I’m going to make sure I let the Muslim community know about this. I clearly asked for halal chicken dumplings and was told it was halal, but it turned out that it wasn’t after I investigated ON MY OWN. This is completely unacceptable. Misrepresenting food as halal when it isn’t is not just careless—it’s deeply disrespectful to customers’ religious beliefs and trust. This isn’t a small mistake; it’s a serious breach of trust and complete disrespect for my religious beliefs. Serving non-halal food while claiming it’s halal is dishonest and offensive. As someone who takes my faith seriously, I find this misleading and unethical. Serving food under false assurances is a serious matter, especially when it involves faith-based dietary requirements. I expect honesty and transparency from any establishment, and this experience has broken that trust. I won’t be returning, and I urge others who require halal food to not eat at this restaurant.

One Great City Brewing Company is a stylish and contemporary bar that offers a fusion of Asian and American flavors in its delightful array of food and beverages. The brewpub provides a spacious interior suitable for both intimate gatherings and large parties, with an unwavering commitment to catering to those with gluten sensitivities. Additionally, the establishment hosts regular events such as 'Puppies on the Patio,' making it a pet-friendly destination.
Great atmosphere, don't let the entrance mislead you, the restaurant/pub/bistro area is further back. Beers are excellent, the NEIPA is very tasty, the IPA nicely balanced and the local beer, easy drinking. The Mac and Cheese us quite tasty, the hot wings delicious and the lamb sandwich is succulent!

Great venue for a hangout pub atmosphere. High ceilings, spacious, and really nice brewery tankards in the backdrop. Plenty of TVs to watch games (the projector lens needs cleaning though) Food so far has been good, better than franchise joints, but bordering around mid. I’ve eaten here a few times and nothing has really jumped out yet. So far the dessert has been the best. There are lots of diverse food options on the menu so I’ll be back to try different dishes - maybe one will be a banger. First few times here service was good. I’m usually pretty chill and shrug things off but on a recent visit, the service was a bit weak and negligent. Could have been an off night. Can’t fault a place too much for that and it is a pub/brewery after all. Noteworthy - groups larger than 8+ will get a mandatory 18% tip applied to the after-tax bill total. Overall though, good venue. Will be back to try more menu items in the future.

One Great City never misses! I’ve been a few times now and every single visit, the food absolutely blows me away — consistently fresh, creative, and full of flavour. Easily some of the best elevated comfort food in the city. Their beer lineup is fantastic too — I always go for the saison, and it’s SO good… crisp, balanced, and the perfect pairing for their menu. Great vibe, great service, and a must-visit if you love craft beer and seriously good food. Highly recommend!

I loved coming to this establishment a while ago, and I remember such good food and lovely service. This time ruined my opinion about this place .. Hear me out, I came here last year with my family and got - good food ( lamb lambwitch ) - good beer ( tipsy cow ) - good service ( nice people ) Now... I came here with my friends from Ukraine, telling them this is the best bar with great food and just all around 10/10. We ordered from Dallas. Beers, deep fried pickles, lambwitch, borscht, pulled pork, and a tacho thing. borscht.... definitely do not get this, as its not borscht and has nothing in common. No beets, no cabbage, no garlic, no potatoes... instead they add rice ? sauerkraut ? Had a barely or some over flavors.. basically anything except borscht like ingredients. Flavors are COMPLETELY different, three Ukrainians basically wondering if they mixed up recipe. Lambwitch... I've been here twice before and LOVED this sandwich, unfortunately today was something different. Bland. I really wish I could get somewhere with this sandwich because it was a memorable flavor. Not much to say, I guess ill have to try again, but probably not because . . . The service... yea this had me full stop not wanting to come back. When the server asked "how was everything" and customer shows dissatisfaction, maybe question why, or talk about what was the problem instead of dismissal and saying "it wasn't what you expected, but it was still good" ... we didn't say anything was good, we said it wasn't bad. To be completely honest im kinda done with saying food is good, or we had a good time when I clearly didn't. Why do I have to lie about my experience? Anyway server Dallas definitely didnt care about anything and combative towards my expression that I will definitely not comeback here on my own free will. I could go on about specifics but this review is long enough, if I get a response from them saying "oh we definitely did not do x.y.z" then ill elaborate further.

Sushi restaurant
Located in the lively Exchange District neighborhood of Winnipeg, Blufish Japanese Restaurant offers a serene and tranquil dining experience amidst the bustling city atmosphere. The restaurant is known for its extensive selection of classic and unique sushi rolls, as well as Japanese kitchen entrees and bento boxes. Whether you're a vegetarian or a carnivore, there's something for everyone with their delicious appetizers and generous portions.
When I first walked into the restaurant, I was instantly impressed...it smelled like a genuine Japanese restaurant in Japan. Ambience and service was great. The food came quickly. The aburi sushi, chef's plate, was excellent. Fish was tender and delicious with a perfect smoked flavour from the torch. Would highly recommend.

I visited Blufish yesterday evening with my boyfriend and my mom (we were all craving sushi), and we heard lots of great reviews and word that Blufish was one of the top places in Winnipeg to go for good sushi (alongside Yujiro on Grant). We reserved a table earlier in the day online - this was a super easy and convenient option! We ended up arriving 15 minutes early and they were able to accommodate (I was 100% okay with waiting if needed, but it was great to see how accommodating and welcoming the crew at Blufish was). ☺️ First off - the cocktails. 😍 I tried both their Plumtini and Lychee-tini, and I honestly could have sipped on those all night long. Our server was really great with recommending cocktails to try as well! Between the three of us, we ordered a variety of items - from edamame beans, to sashimi and nigiri sushi, and a few different rolls. I myself have a shellfish allergy (a sin for a person who loves sushi), and the staff were very accommodating with making sure that the items that were unsafe for me were on separate plates, and they acknowledged when those specific rolls were on the table as well. Kudos to the staff - this effort meant so much to me! 🙌🏼 The sashimi and nigiri was amazing, their wasabi was great - the only items I found I could have passed on were their salmon bakudan roll, the seaweed wrap was quite chewy and not my favourite, and their philadelphia roll (again, just a tad bit chewier than I’m used to - although I will say that I really appreciated that they were open to switching out the smoked salmon for raw salmon with this roll). These are not reasons that will deter me from returning though - I will definitely come back again! I can definitely vouch after this visit that Blufish is indeed one of the top places in Winnipeg for sushi - I will agree with that one!

Normally get Salmon Sashimi here and pieces are very fresh and fatty (in a satisfying way), but a little pricey at $20.00 for 5 pieces. Tried Green Roll ($15.50) which has shrimp tempura, kanpyo, avocado, cucumber, tamago, plum mayo wrapped in soy crepe. Interesting combination but doesn’t travel well, we got a takeout and it was a little soggy when we got home, consider enjoying it for dine in. Spring Garden roll ($13.00) had asparagus, red cabbage which gave nice crunch, tempura vegetables in nori and drizzled with spicy sauce. This was our favourite! Both Philadelphia and Dynamite rolls were on Uber deal for get one get 1 free and I think as an individual roll the Dynamite roll is a little small for the $ comparatively to what other restaurants have them for, but everything was very fresh and tasty. Thank you! We did not get shrimp tempura but normally get it and it is alway very good. It would be nice if this restaurant could have real wasabi since it is more of a premium spot.

We had a fantastic dinner at Bluefish! The sushi was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The lychee cocktail was also a highlight — sweet, refreshing, and perfectly balanced. The absolute star of the night was our waitress Tanya — she was warm, attentive, stunning, and full of good energy. Her service truly elevated the entire experience. If we had one small suggestion, it would be to improve the ambiance a little — the interior feels a bit plain and cafeteria-like. With just a few touches, it could match the level of the food and service. Still, overall it was a wonderful evening. Great food, great drinks, and amazing staff. We’ll definitely be coming back! 🍣🍸

We ate supper here on a Saturday evening, it wasn't too busy and we were seated right away. Almost the entire menu can be made gluten free (except gyoza and BBQ eel). Make sure to ask for gluten free soy sauce too. We had the agedashi tofu to start. Very delicious and crispy gluten free tempura batter. Then we shared the Lobster roll, Ben roll, and the super dynamite roll. They were all so good. I couldn't recommend this place any more than just saying you must come if you have a gluten free or Celiac diet. I'm so glad this was recommended on Facebook and Find me Gluten Free.
Michelle M — Google review
Table was too small and the chairs felt cramped. The sushi was ok but not worth the price that they ask for. The lighting and the decor made the dining experience not very nice. Also, the sashimi didn't taste particularly fresh. The green onion in the negi toro tasted a little bit off, like the slime that forms when it sits for a while. The dragon roll tasted pretty good. My impression is that this is a place where you order rolls, and not where you want to get nigiri, sashimi, or maki. I thought it might be based off the reviews and menu, but it ended up being an expensive let down. I have nothing particularly bad to say about the service, other than I wish that we were offered a larger table because it felt very cramped.

Tommy's Pizzeria, located in Corydon Village, Winnipeg, has quickly become a local favorite. The pizzeria is known for its fresh personal pizzas and more. Absolutely love Tommy’s Pizza! The crust is perfectly crisp, the toppings are fresh, and the flavor combinations are on point. You can tell they take real pride in what they make. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff are always friendly and upbeat. Whether you’re grabbing a quick slice or sitting down with friends, Tommy’s never disappoints. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was great, no complaints there. But the service left a lot to be desired. Several menu items were unavailable, and we weren’t told until we tried to order them. That’s something that should’ve been communicated upfront, either when we were seated or before ordering appetizers. It also took over 20 minutes to get our drinks, and we had to track down our server just to order more. Disappointing experience on the service front.

What a fantastic joint! Our server was super kind and helpful. The ambiance was fantastic, clean, and inviting. The food? *Chefs kiss* We got: Tommy's cheese stick - a yule log sized cheese stick that was absolute perfection. The sauce wasn't my favorite, but it really didn't even need the dipping sauce. Pure cheesy delight. Truffle Fries - Pretty darn good!! The sauce for these was very light and yummy. Fries were perfectly cooked. Gemignani - spicy meat, pretty good, but quite greasy so it lost me on that one. Had a lot of crust, great crunch! Prosciutto Fig - Holy hell, Batman!! This is my new favorite pizza in the world. What an absolute delight. The Tommy Special - Very well made and yummy. It was a very unexpected combination that worked beautifully! Double Decker - You can't go wrong with this pizza. A very good taste combination, not too greasy!

Went there with a lot of expectations, but it didn’t meet them. Tried the Ray Lorne (chicken bacon ranch) without bacon, but there was only one small piece of chicken per slice, even though the menu says “strips.” Chicken parm pasta was fine, and drinks were good. Service was good, but even with reservations, it still takes time to get seated. Happened to me 2-3 times.

Came here for a second visit and was very let down by service. The restaurant was not very busy and we made a reservation for our party ahead of time. Half our party had to order our drinks multiple times as they never showed up, one of our original drinks took so long it came while we were waiting to ask for the bill. We were never offered water refills and the first staff to ask us how the food was came after we were finished our meals, and this was when we had to ask for water for the table. We also once again had to flag down a waiter and ask for our bills as our table was neglected all night. The bathroom was nearly inaccessible as the hallway was piled with extra chairs and cushions to the point I had to squeeze in sideways and shuffle to get there and I'm not a large person. Can't imagine how anyone with a mobility device is expected to dine here. I've never left such a low rating based on service alone and I don't think I will dine in again. I would rather get takeout or delivery than deal with the disappointment that was our service last night again.

I visited Tommy’s Pizza in Winnipeg after hearing a lot of buzz, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to the hype. While the pizza was decent, it didn’t stand out in terms of flavor or quality, especially when compared to other local spots. What stood out more was the price—definitely on the higher side for what you get. For the cost, I expected a more memorable dining experience, but the overall quality left something to be desired. That said, the atmosphere and service were good, so it might appeal to those looking for a trendy spot. However, if you’re seeking top-notch pizza that justifies its price, there are better options in Winnipeg.

Máquè is a trendy small-plate restaurant in Winnipeg, offering a fusion of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese flavors. The chef behind this concept brings influences from these cuisines to create an unpretentious dining experience. The menu features steamed buns with various fillings like Nagano pork belly or smoked duck, as well as rice and noodles dishes and meat and seafood options. The restaurant's slick and minimalist space adds to the overall ambiance.
Excellent restaurant! Very good food, and top notch service. We tried almost all of their dishes, and everything we had was delicious. The price of the food was also reasonable for an upper scale restaurant. We’d definitely come back to eat here!

I'd give it a 3.5 but I can't Food was good can't say the contrary but I feel like I would have had the same pleasure in any vietnamese or fusion restaurant for half the price. The food tastes mainly like the different sauces they use, most of it tastes like very good nuoc mam sauce but still a bit too much similar. The main disappointement was the Chilled Bo Ssam, it is very expensive for few pieces of duck, salad, cucumber and again sauces... For the price, I'd expect a bit more work, maybe some herbes, some pickled veggies to make it more interesting. Deserts were ok, a bit too sweet I'd say which is surpising in an asian place where usually sugar is not the star of the show. The cocktail was good. The wine was not good, we ton a red Syrah really bad wine and a whote trebbiano was better but not good. The AC was quite high si it was a bit chilly and music a bit loud. Don't get me wrong, it is still a good place to eat, just defikitly not the best. Overall, we had better dining experience in other places in Winnipeg.

Food was very tasty and very well presented. Pork belly bun was a show stopper. If you're going on a date make sure you order the buns, beef tartar, and one of the noodle dishes. Atmosphere was good, missing some music. Service was below par. Our server didn't smile once. Can't say it was the end of the night. We went at 5 pm on a Saturday. Every time we asked for anything we got the eye roll. 18%, 20%, 24% gratuity for minimal service absolutely borthers me. Go for the food, not the service.

Some dishes were extremely flavourful but was quickly overtaken by the next share plate that was too salty, then not salty/flavoured enough. It's nice to share the food and plates are designed as such. I'd go back with a group but not alone or just with one person. Would want more selection. Outstanding decor though!

The food was delicious. Incredibly flavourful and presented well. Every dish was so tasty but the pork belly steamed buns and the wild mushroom pasta stood out, for us. Service was friendly and helpful. It was our first time and our server was helpful with describing each dish and pointing out some of the local favourites. The portion sizes are not overly large, but with a combination of small plates (one of each menu 'section' for 2 people), we were more than satisfied. We will spread the word and will be back. Perfect for a date night or smaller groups (2-6).

Beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere. It was relatively easy make a last minute reservation on a Friday. Place is quite small just like their other restaurant Enoteca and has very similar vibe and menus. Do remember this place is more of a wine bar - with almost no cocktail options. Tartar was delicious but I found the other veggie dish to be a bit plain. We had two small shared dishes and two glasses of wine and the bill came up to be $100 after 18% tip. I wasn't so happy about the fact that our server kept on reminding us about the next reservation. I felt a bit rushed out.

We had dinner there. The food was excellent, carefully prepared and beautifully presented. This is a fusion Asian restaurant and the food is truly a fusion of various Asian cooking. It's hard to say whether a dish is Chinese or Japanese or Korean. The service was polished and efficient. The price was on the high side but not outrageous. All in all, a decent place to have dinner when visiting Winnipeg.

Great beef tartare and bao buns! The rest of the dishes were okay - the lobster chow mein was on the salty side but they did offer to fix it. Overall great service and ambience!

Gusto North is a part of Hargrave St. Market, featuring a variety of chef-driven concepts and local operators such as Yard Burger, The Good Fight Taco, Rose Bar, Saburo Kitchen, Fools and Horses, Miss Browns, and Lake of the Woods Brewery. This downtown Winnipeg location offers an upscale dining experience with wood-fired pizzas overseen by executive chef Jesse Friesen.
Best Italian Restaurant in town, perfection. The food this place offers is perfect. Went to gusto north recently and tried their full course menu. Had a blast. My adventure started with arancini which was delicious the stuffing when dipped in the sauce was perfection. Quite good and mouth watering leaves you craving for more. It was followed up with Carbonara, especially loved the egg yolk on the top when mixed with the pasta gives it a smooth creamy flavor, pasta was cooked to perfection. With added parmesan and chilli flakes even more tasteful. We followed it up with Scallopine, the chicken was cooked perfectly, surrounded by a mixture of celery and mashed potato which when chicken was dipped into resulted in a grandeur experience. Finally had Liotta Rossa for the Pizza, Italian cuisine experience is quite incomplete without a good pizza. And this one didn't disappoint. The tomato basil incombination with basil and ricotta with chicken topping was unstoppable in fullfilling my palate. This is a 100% repeat try restaurant. The staff is great and super friendly. Willing to answer your questions. It is expensive but worth every penny a must try for Italian cuisine lovers.

So like this is kind of a margarita pizza - it’s certainly delicious but I’ve had this pizza in all over the world and this is the least amount of cheese and most crust I’ve ever seen on a marg. It was delicious but underwhelming for the price. Staff was awesome, and super quick turn around

The pasta was okay, the pizza was absolutely amazing and the reason why I rate it so highly. As a visitor, the area wasn't great and the atmosphere was very quite and chilled. However I enjoyed my dinner and would definitely return

First visit before concert, our waitress was very friendly and helpful/knowledgeable with the menu; identifying plant based options. I had the vegam funato pizza, my sister had the 887. It was good. It is a small restaurant and before the concert was packed by the time we left. It was so loud that you could hardly hold a conversation.

Pizzeria Gusto on Academy Road is hands down one of Winnipeg’s best dining spots. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels warm, inviting, and stylish, perfect for both a casual evening or a special night out. The food is outstanding! Every dish is crafted with care and incredible flavor. The Gamberi alla Diavola had just the right kick, and the pizzas are some of the best you’ll find anywhere, the Margherita with olives and peppers was perfection with its thin, crisp crust and rich, authentic toppings. The Crudo di Tonno was another highlight, beautifully presented and delicious. To finish, the Affogato was a simple yet elegant dessert that tied everything together. Service was excellent throughout the evening. Our server, Lauren, was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, adding to the overall experience without ever feeling rushed. If you’re looking for an elevated yet approachable dining experience in Winnipeg, Pizzeria Gusto is a must-visit. The food, service, and atmosphere are consistently top-notch truly a gem on Academy Road.

What a beautiful place in the middle of the city. The patio dining was top notch. Their pizza has amazing flavor and just the right amount of chew. Plenty of vegetarian options.

LAKE OF THE WOODS recommended them, and I'm so thankful they did! Among the best pizzas I've had. We ate the Moderni and enjoyed every bite. The honey balanced the spicy pepperoni perfectly!

South American restaurant
Bar
Restaurant
Hermanos Restaurant & Wine Bar is a South American steakhouse with two locations in Winnipeg. It offers delicious cuts of steaks, empanadas, and live music. The restaurant has a vibrant atmosphere that welcomes families with children. The brick-lined surrounds and patio create a unique dining experience. With its South American roots, Hermanos is known for its unique food and wine pairings.
We had an outstanding experience at Hermanos Restaurant this Friday. Every dish we ordered was absolutely impeccable—beautifully prepared, full of flavor, and made with top-quality ingredients. The attention to detail in both presentation and taste was truly impressive. The service was exceptional—some of the best we’ve had in a long time. Our server, Julia, was incredibly knowledgeable about their new menu and made sure we were well taken care of. She struck the perfect balance between being attentive and giving us the space to relax and enjoy our evening at our own pace. Known for their Latin cuisine and great steaks, I was pleasantly surprised by their selection of salads. They were fresh and light, yet the thoughtful variety of ingredients made them genuinely satisfying. I paired my ‘Minas Frescal Salad’ (new) with the ‘Grilled Chicken Skewers’ from their tapas and it was perfect. And don’t skip dessert—the menu is eclectic, well-curated, and the perfect way to end a memorable meal. I had the ‘Cappuccino Cheesecake’ which is great for sharing. Hermanos Restaurant is a gem. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

Now I understand why this place only has a 4-star rating. I ordered the 24oz ribeye, listed on the menu as La Cabrera, and it was a big disappointment. The steak was tough, and the cut itself was far from premium—just a large, cheap piece of ribeye that wasn’t worth the price. There are plenty of spots in town serving much better steaks.
Esteban G — Google review
I love going to Hermanos. Last night I stopped by for pre-theatre appies and cocktails. Our waiter was fabulous and went the extra mile to ensure our time there was 5*. Best gin martinis and the food never disappoints, no matter what you order.
Sheila E — Google review
I’ve seen a lot of posts about this place adding a 20% tip without permission, and unfortunately, I can now confirm it’s true as I experienced it firsthand. I’m a student who simply ordered a $6 house wine over the counter (and even waited for it there), yet I was billed $8. To make it worse, the added tip didn’t even show up on the receipt. Yes, the difference might not seem huge, but that’s not the point. As a customer, I should be the one deciding how much to tip. I would have gladly left 5–10%, but forcing 20% without my knowledge feels dishonest and, honestly, like being robbed. I wasn’t alone either, I was with my classmates, and we all felt the same. For students or anyone on a budget, this practice is extremely discouraging. Because of this, I won’t be attending any future events held here, and I hope management seriously reconsiders this policy. Transparency and respect for your customers should come first.

Stopped in on Saturday around 5:30 before Nuit Blanche. When we arrived it was dead inside, we were the second table seated and wondering where everyone was on such a busy night downtown. Service was excellent, we had two servers looking after us, and both were very friendly and attentive. The food on the other hand was such a disappointment, especially for the prices they charge. Ordered calamari and think it's the worst batch I've ever ate. The breading and seasoning were unusual, and the marinara pairing didn’t work well. Also had the Cachaca shrimp which came in a very watered down butter lime sauce and the empanadas which were unfortunately really bland and dry. Don't plan on going back any time soon unless the food improves.

Food is really good especially the Paella and Tango Mixed Grill! Love the ambience and server is awesome. However, it took a little bit of time before they got back to us once we've seated. And also, the menu prices in the website is not updated which will somehow surprise you when you see the actual menu.

Great lunch! Meeting today was awesome on there patio. So many great options to choose from seriously was hard to choose! Enjoyed a great sunny day on the patio for this meeting today. Have been for dinner before as well and it’s been amazing great selections of food and drink. Steak and wine is an amazing dinner pairing. Would recommend if down town. Great for a nice lunch and or a nice dinner.
Steven M — Google review
The experience at Hermanos itself was good, and the service was top notch thanks to Natalia (?), but a couple of minor irritants that are easily within the control of the restaurant resulted in the three-star rating. The menu available on the Hermanos website itself is out of date, so the prices on many items have changed (understandable), and some of the sizes have changed as well (for example, the Gaucho sized ribeye that was previously 16 oz according to the menu on their website, is now 14 oz on the actual menu in the restaurant). The restaurant should be posting accurate menu information since they are the ones that are partially responsible for controlling what is on their own website. Secondly, the menu clearly indicated a 20% gratuity on parties of eight or more, which is fine because we were informed in advance via the menu. When I got my bill, a 22% gratuity was applied. Not cool. There should be full transparency to all patrons, and I equate this to a bait and switch. The food was well prepared and flavorful, albeit on the pricier side. The experience itself was good, but I will not be returning anytime soon.

Vegan restaurant
Hamburger restaurant
Boon Burger is a popular plant-based burger cafe with two locations in Winnipeg. The menu features a variety of vegan options, including favorites like the Bacun Cheeze burger, soft serve, and poutine. Customers praise the delicious flavors and welcoming staff. The Jamaican Crazy Burger made with jackfruit is particularly noteworthy for its resemblance to pulled pork. The restaurant offers a laid-back atmosphere and generous portion sizes, making it suitable for both vegans and non-vegans alike.
The staff was super nice and inviting. The food was brought to the table with a smile and in a timely manner. The Mexican burger was delicious and well seasoned. The restaurant was small and intimate. This has been one of the best veggie burgers since Lo-Pub!

This is a must whenever I'm in Winnipeg!! Love that I can go in an order whatever looks delicious and not worry or have to modify it to be vegan! The food is always fantastic and the service is amazing!! I love the favour combos they come up with and that you have your burger really dressed up or just simple ... Whatever you are feeling that day! ♥️♥️♥️

The perfect place for vegans and non vegans alike! So many new options since I was last there. Their strawberry and cream shake was also delicious and they have big servings of every (I got a medium poutine and couldn't finish it.)

Vegan options are endless. I had the jamaican me crazy burger. I had to keep checking the jackfuit because i was certas in it was pulled pork alas it was not just an amazingly delicious substitute. Staff was very welcoming and explained in detail what each burg had to offer. I love the atmosphere as well super laid back. Only thing that sucks is parking options

I was really excited to come here (as I am for any vegan joint with an extensive menu) but was disappointed by my gluten-free burger simply because of the “bun”, which it clearly states on the menu. My bun was in fact 2 pieces of bread which I had to pay an extra $2.75 for! The flavour of the burger was great but the cost of 2 slices of bread was really disheartening - they compensated me with free ice-cream at least. Another disappointing thing was that they only had a small portion of fries left by the time we came (around 6:15pm). For a place that serves burgers and fries and is open till 9pm, how could you run out of fries when more people are likely going to come for dinner?! Would recommend for people without gluten allergy but not great for the gluten-free diet.

The customer service is amazing. They are super nice and helpful with any questions you might have. It's a cozy atmosphere and even the patrons are super friendly, offering to share tables when it's busy! Also the food is delicious, I love burgers!
Jessica F — Google review
We stopped in for burgers and poutine. We miss their old location over on Bannatyne which was much closer to us, and had much better, more comfortable seating, but we're still happy that there's at least one place where absolutely everything on the menu is 100% veggie friendly. We had the Greek burger and the Reggae. The pulled bbq jackfruit on the Reggae is really very good! Their burgers are huge, though, so while it is good value for money, it is also rather uncomfortable to try to finish a burger and fries. However, if I only want to eat one meal in the day, this would be it.

Awesome place with friendly staffs. Small and cosy place and the only vegan burger restaurant in Winnipeg. I would definitely recommend this place to any vegan in Winnipeg or non Vegans wanting to give vegan food a go. I gave it 4 stars because I find the food price a little over-the-top. I get that Its Vegan but it shouldn't cost that much.

Restaurant
Capital Grill & Bar, with locations at 275 Broadway St and 3116 Roblin Blvd, offers a delightful dining experience. Chef Wayne Martin's menu features delectable starters like airy popcorn shrimp and perfectly cooked West Coast fish. The Roblin location boasts a west-facing patio near Assiniboine Park Zoo, while the Broadway location offers a spacious patio on the bustling street. Both spots provide stunning views of downtown Winnipeg and Union Station or an intimate outdoor experience.
After two weeks on the road, we were staying in downtown Winnipeg on a Saturday evening looking for something a bit different, that would interest us after lots of eating out. I did a Google search, the menu seemed promising, and I called to see if we needed a reservation. From that call all through the end of our meal, the service was terrific. We got useful information on local craft beers, received a great recommendation on the rigatoni with braised short rib (outstanding), and my wife said her Capital Market salad was one of the best she'd ever had. We got there just over an hour before closing, but did not feel rushed. They were nicely busy; if full, I suspect the indoors seating might be a bit loud, but the patio is a nice option this time of year. Try it!

Had a gift certificate gifted to me by a friend and I had never heard of this place prior. So I help off going until I had a reason. I am happy I did. Everything about this place was awesome. It wasn't super busy when we went. It was just after lunch on a Wednesday. Our servers name was Stephanie. She was delightful. We wanted to try the apps like we din most places and they were spectacular. I've attached some photos to see. This is a must visit spot. I will return the favor and buy a gift card for a friend who has never been until everyone's heard of this Jazzy spot.
Christian F — Google review
Capital Bar and Grill is an excellent spot that strikes a perfect balance between casual and classy. From the moment you pull in, the experience feels inviting. To start, the parking lot is well lit and has large spots, which already sets a good tone for the night. Inside, the atmosphere is vibrant with a modern vibe, and the spacious booths make it comfortable whether you’re out for dinner with friends or on a date. The staff were genuinely friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the service felt smooth even though the place was packed. The drink menu was impressive, especially the local beers on tap, a nice touch that gives it a local flair. The food was really good, with a wide range of choices that made it hard to pick just one dish. Everything we ordered came out well-prepared and flavorful, leaning toward fine dining quality but without the stuffy formality. If there was one small downside, it’s that it got a little noisy during the peak dinner rush, but honestly that just shows how popular the place is. The energy in the room made it feel lively rather than overwhelming. Overall, Capital Bar and Grill is a great place to relax, enjoy a fantastic meal, and sip some quality drinks in a fun, upscale atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit!

Wonderful little place to grab a drink and bite after a long day. I found the food was scrumptious and arrived in a timely manner. The hot sauce was splendid which wasn't overtly hot but had range of delicious flavor.

Yalda E — Google review
The service was friendly but it was the pits, we were forgotten about often... we made reservations since they have a good reputation and downtown had a few events going on this evening, we were looking forward to going. When we arrived, the restaurant wasn't busy and waited while the hostess seated other guests. Another party arrived shortly after us, and was attended to as we stood there being ignored while these folks were sat right away. We were sat, given menus and we awhile until a server came to get our drink order and tell us the specials..., we waited again another ~10 minutes for our order to be taken and our drinks to arrive. Meanwhile, tables who arrived after us already received their appetizers... the server did not remember she was told two people would be ordered soup & pizza, she placed a pizza on our table, assuming it was everyone's pizza to share, it wasn't, and it was not the pizza ordered. They asked my friends if they could just keep this pizza and it would be taken off the bill, staff said it would take too long to make the pizza originally ordered. So that pizza stays, we wait 10-15 minutes (plenty of time to make the correct pizza) for the rest of our food while we watched those sat before us start their dessert - they already received their appetizers, dinner and were starting dessert, we at that point were just served a menu item not ordered by anyone. Half of our party ordered soup and pizza, the other half burger+fries. The burger was good and fries were homemade. Soup was mediocre - needed seasoning, pizza was OK 🤷🏻‍♀️ the restaurant wasn't full and three servers were working. Disappointing, we agreed a 6/10, we're looking forward to our next dining experience elsewhere

Greg, Wayne and the Capital Team catered appetizers for our family wedding. We were regulars at Capital Charleswood and love the food and service at the restaurant. Roasted Cauliflower Soup - 5/5 - Creamy and great flavor, food start to the meal Salmon with veggies - 4/5 The salmon by itself was alright but the tomato puree was a nice addition to the dish. The sauce really tied everything together. The carrots were also really nice and sweet. Pesto bacon and corn pizza - 3.5/5 Toppings were alright, dough was flat and a bit fluffy. Pesto was good, but overall, this was nothing special. Steak salad - 5/5 Vinagraitte dressing. Steak was cooked perfectly (medium), and the asparagus added a nice roasted flavor to the salad. Sticky toffee pudding (forgot to take a picture) - 5/5 Delicious. The ambience was nice in the restaurant, string lights turned on across the ceiling. The staff was very pleasant and quick to serve us. Great service.
