Libraries
Biblioteca Palafoxiana is a stunning public library established in the 17th century, home to a vast collection of rare books and manuscripts dating back to the 15th century. The architecture features arched and vaulted ceilings, Baroque windows, tiered balconies, a gilded altar, and polished wooden bookcases holding ancient volumes made of vellum. This grand space evokes reverence for learning and knowledge.
Biggest museum 🌄payment for the entire building, do not forget to go to other halls of the building with one copy of the ticket.
Alice D — Google review
This library is basically just the one room but it's a beautiful room. When you leave this room, turn left because there is an exhibition that you can enter with your library ticket which shows the 20 most influential books housed in this library in honor of the 25 years the library has been a UNESCO world heritage.
Tayet4Buri — Google review
This review is after a 2nd visit to Biblioteca Palafoxiana. Since our first visit to just the library, they have added an amazing exposición to the library. Unclear if all or part of this is permanent, but i certainly hope it is permanent so many more can continue to experience this amazing museum. This collection of literary works was truly AMAZING. The added expo highlights a portion of this incredible, now antique book collection featuring very early publications of Cervantes, Copernicus, Newton and more. There is also a separate section about the man himself, Palafox. This place is a must see. If you are real into this kind of stuff, plan on 1.5 hours to tour the library and full exhibition (if its still there).
K M — Google review
Biblioteca Palafoxiana is absolutely worth a visit. The current exhibition adds a really interesting layer to the experience (note that all descriptions are in Spanish), but, the library itself is amazing — floor-to-ceiling shelves packed with very old books, some dating back centuries. You don’t need a tour but it would be helpful to explain some facts - or you can do your research beforehand. You can buy tickets when you arrive. It’s a beautiful place that makes you appreciate the history and knowledge preserved here.
Monique F — Google review
This was a beautiful place to visit. The tour itself is maybe 15 minutes. The docents were amazing. They were kind and answered all our questions. I enjoyed seeing how well they took care of the books and the building. It really demonstrates how much they appreciate their history. I would absolutely recommend to take a visit here.
Marlon C — Google review
Interesting old library with historical significance. Although it's described as the first public library in the Americas accessible to anyone who wished to study, remember that at those times there was racial segregation and only white spiniards could live in the city of Puebla.
Avi F — Google review
This library is very picturesque, but that's about it. You have to pay a fee to enter, and you cannot touch anything. You also can't go upstairs.
Heather S — Google review
Looks good from outside, didn't go in... I feel libraries should not charge to go in. Cool building.

Zócalo de Puebla is a lively public square at the heart of the city, offering a vibrant atmosphere with its fountain, benches, and surrounding eateries and shops. It's a popular spot for people-watching, from students in academic gowns celebrating graduations to families enjoying leisurely strolls. The square is surrounded by historical buildings and green spaces, making it an ideal starting point for exploring the city.
The Zócalo de Puebla is a must-visit destination. It's a magical place with friendly people. It can get crowded on Sundays and during holidays, but we stayed in an Airbnb right in front of the Zócalo, which was amazing. Every morning, we enjoyed seeing the Zócalo transform into something different. There are also many bus tours available from this location, and everything is easily walkable.
SIRLUNA ( — Google review
The Zócalo in Puebla is truly the heart of the city and a must-visit destination for anyone exploring this vibrant colonial city. As one of Mexico’s most beautiful and historic plazas, it offers a perfect blend of history, culture, and lively atmosphere. The square is surrounded by stunning colonial architecture, with colorful buildings and ornate facades that reflect Puebla’s rich heritage. The cathedral, with its impressive baroque design, dominates the skyline and adds to the majestic ambiance of the plaza. During the day, the Zócalo buzzes with activity—locals and tourists alike gather to relax, enjoy street performances, or sip coffee at nearby cafes. At night, the area transforms with beautifully lit buildings, creating a romantic and picturesque setting. The surrounding streets are lined with shops, markets, and restaurants offering delicious local cuisine, including Puebla’s famous mole poblano. It’s a great place to soak in the local culture, do some shopping, or simply people-watch. Overall, the Zócalo in Puebla is a vibrant, historic, and charming place that captures the essence of the city. Whether you’re interested in history, architecture, or just soaking up the lively atmosphere, it’s an experience not to be missed.

Restaurant
El Mural de los Poblanos is an upscale Mexican restaurant located in the historical center of Puebla. The traditional-style space features arches, tiled floors, and colorful murals by artist Antonio Alvarez Moran. The restaurant offers a variety of moles, with the Mole Poblano being a favorite among locals. In addition to its exquisite cuisine, El Mural de los Poblanos serves mezcal and beers while patrons wait for their tables.
Exceptional in every way, don’t recognise the experiences in the negative reviews at all! We went twice during our stay in Puebla. The menu is fantastic & hugely varied - we tried the mole tasting (5 moles), the tacos arabes, the seasonal escamoles (Mexican caviar!), tacos lechon, squash blossom quesadillas, and one of the salads, and it was all delicious. Some stuff not our favourite, but we were taking risks and trying new things; our fault in other words! The turon ice cream I can honestly say is one of the best ice creams I’ve ever had, phenomenal. Service also 10/10, such friendly and attentive staff who you could tell really wanted to show off the Mexican cuisine. And the setting is stunning - ask for a seat with a view of the mural! Overall we loved it, it completely lived up to the hype.
James H — Google review
Centrally located near the Puebla historic center.Had a great experience eating here. There are plenty of options for everyone. Highly recommend the Mole options which include your choice of Mole and protein. Great appetizer and drink options. Service was very good and attentive.
Luis N — Google review
Beautiful restaurant with great and delicious food. Very attentive service provided by Edgar who explained the dishes and suggested some amazing mezcal. We even bought a bottle after lunch. I ordered lamb meatballs in green salsa with black beans and red rice. We felt like royalty!
Soraia Y — Google review
This is the quintessential Mexican restaurant. It serves traditional food from the state of puebla, focusing mainly on moles and antojos. I tried cemitas, guacamole and chalupas for starters. They were all great. For my main I had chicken with a mole sauce, which came with rice and beans. Desserts were also quite good: cremita and a meringue. The place is a must if you’re visiting Puebla.
Pedro M — Google review
Beautiful ambiance and exquisite menu. Had a wonderful (vegetarian!) chile en nogado, as it was in season. One of the murals in the patio is a collection of idiomatic expressions, visually represented. The mesero explained the whole painting to us - definitely ask, it's very interesting!

Food was amazing, service was great, wait staff was attentive. Restaurant was beautifully decorated

Superb food and presentation. I can't fault it. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. We had the mole sampler with duck and two different soups, both of which were excellent. Drinks were perfect, beautiful tableware, excellent service. Highly recommended

The Parian Market, also known as the Antigua Plaza de San Roque, is a bustling marketplace located in the historic center of Puebla. With 112 stands offering a wide variety of traditional clothing, pottery, jewelry, and other local wares, it's the largest handicrafts market in the city. Visitors can explore an array of authentic Mexican snacks and immerse themselves in Puebla's traditional craftsmanship by browsing through stalls selling Talavera pottery.
Little street lined with shops on either side. The vendors are friendly and not in your face like some other touristy areas. They sell all kinds of souvenirs from little magnets and toys to Puebla made dishware and pottery. Nice place for some shopping.
Devin L — Google review
This was a great place to buy souvenirs. I was able to find postcards, trinkets, pottery, etc. I was with a group of 5 and my friends bought ponchos, wraps, vases, jewelry, beautiful rosaries, etc. there was something for everyone. For those who are there with shoppers but are not shoppers themselves, there were plenty of benches to sit on throughout the area, plenty of places to get snacks, and bathrooms available to use for a few pesos.
Marlon C — Google review
If you are looking for a place to find some traditional Mexican trinkets-gifts, this is your area to look. They are open 7 days a week for a significant number of hours (check your Google listing for up to date times... and days ... JIC). This market is located northeast of the zocalo , just a few blocks north of Los Sapos. At times too you can find similar types of merchants in - near the Los Sapos area (not in the Pariian Market) selling similar items. Some , but maybe not all, merchants might be somewhat flexible and willing to haggle a bit on prices. Generally, proprietors are friendly, helpful, and interested in working with you to make the sale :-)
K M — Google review
Very nice little open air market. Lots of varied trinkets and crafts. Picturesque if you know what I mean.
Alberto C — Google review
This place a traditional tourist place where you will find all traditional souvenir from puebla.
May A — Google review
It's very colorful and attention drawing with colorful flags and a large sun mural painted on the ground. There are lots of stalls with a variety of items for sale. It's a great spot to buy souvenirs.
Heather S — Google review
A place with many shops, lots of handicrafts and Mexican souvenirs; many people visit the area. Good prices and friendly people.
Nelson M — Google review
This is a very pleasant place to spend a few hours. A lot of the little shops are just selling the standard trinkets. I even found one that was selling the sweater I was wearing that I bought in Quito, Ecuador. But I also found some very unique shops like the Talavera shop that's sells talavera from their fabrica. And if you stroll on down to the artist part, there are some really interesting paintings. Then, of course, there's the Mole Poblano to sample ... and buy to take home.

Zoo
Africam Safari is a wildlife conservation zoo in Puebla, Mexico, spanning 500 acres of diverse habitats. Founded by Carlos Camacho Espiritu in the 1970s, it houses over 450 animal species from around the world. Visitors can drive through open-air enclosures or join guided tours to see elephants, giraffes, rhinos, tigers, and more. The park offers educational experiences like tracking animals and picnicking with giraffes.
We had two cars in our party. Our family enjoyed every moment of this experience. We went on a Sunday. This park is so well thought out, it was very impressive. It did take us about 5 hours to get through but felt like it took 3 hours. You first go through the safari portion where the animals are running free in their own habitat. There are stops along the way for clean bathrooms, food, and places to get out of the car and stretch your legs. There are 3 stops along this adventure. The last stop is more of a traditional zoo. All the animals here were well taken care of which was so good to see. Highly recommend for good family fun!
Angie G — Google review
All the family loved this place! So cool how close you can get to the animals 😂 so many nice places to take pics. And the restrooms are very clean. Lots of different places to eat. Highly recommend if you are visiting puebla with the kids!!
Myra G — Google review
I was impressed! My first Safari in life! It was amazing to see different animals so close 🐘 Such a beautiful family experience! Highly recommend 🌟 The only problem can be lots of visitors, so 🚗 cars drive very slowly and under the sun 🌞 it can be a tricky time with kids in a car! So I would choose time to enter wisely. Maybe not weekends if you have opportunity! Area with Lions is just Breathtaking! 🧡🦁
Anastasia — Google review
A super cool drive thru zoo. After you drive thru all the way, there is a walking experience where u get to see even more animals and insects. Such a cool experience for the kids. The animals looked very healthy and well taken care of. Such a delightful place, will come back!
Alex — Google review
Amazing, better than expected. The animals seem to be better treated that in most zoos and this haves a nice concept that makes it different than a normal zoo. Loved the Cows with gigantic horns
Guille 2 — Google review

One of the best experiences ever. Must do it while near puebla

Catedral de Puebla is a Roman Catholic cathedral located in Mexico, known for its ornate interior featuring several chapels and an octagonal altar. The architecture is a blend of Herreresque-Renaissance and early baroque styles, with construction dating back to the 16th century. The cathedral's impressive exterior includes two towering structures that are the tallest in Mexico.
One of the most amazing, beautiful interiors of a church I've ever seen. The gold gates, the unbelievable altar, just beautiful.

This is a gorgeous colonial church with many beautiful paintings and statues both inside and outside. It is massive, like the ones you can find in Europe. This is an absolutely beautiful cathedral. It's free to visit and is fascinating inside and out. The twin bell towers and fine are fantastic architectural structures. But the design of the inside is fascinating. Near the main entrance it splits into two aisles with the organ in between, a big organ. Beyond that is the high altar with columns are statuary. But be sure to keep walking beyond the high altar. At the far end from the main doors is the resplendent Altar of the Kings.

Wheelchair accessible entrance/exit, but no restrooms here. FREE. Absolutely beautiful cathedral in Puebla. It's one of my favorites! It is one of the first temples of the Americas. The inside is covered in gold, so it is a beautiful site to see, welcome to all people. No flash photos or flash videos allowed. It is open on rainy days and shine! It has beautiful paintings and art on the walls, too. It is located in the town center and surrounded by many shops and restaurants.

The Catedral de Puebla, a stunning example of Spanish colonial architecture, is one of Mexico’s most iconic landmarks. Located in the heart of Puebla’s historic center, this 16th-century cathedral impresses with its grand façade, towering bell towers, and beautifully detailed interior. Estrella de Puebla is a massive observation wheel located in a linear park, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city's landmarks. Puebla itself is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, showcasing its rich cultural and historical significance through its well-preserved colonial architecture and cobblestone streets. The attraction stands as a symbol of modernity within this historic setting, providing visitors with privileged views of the surrounding area.
We were worried about standing in line, but all went well. There was literally no one waiting. We got a VIP for the four of us, and it was worth it. You get a private cabin with leather seats and honestly, the views are amazing! Worth the trip. FYI: if you have a car, park it in the mall across the street.
Inj — Google review
Easy entry, nice view. There was a „radio“ in the capsule and the content was a bit annoying because it was just advertising. Some information about Puebla would have been nicer.
Louisa K — Google review
It seems new and very well maintained. . it is a very large Ferris wheel .. if I remember right it was 80 pesos a person they had some deluxe style seats for like vip people that were like 800 for 6 people . There was absolutely no one else on it when we went so there was no line and no waiting .. pretty good view .. it goes very very slow takes probably 10 or 15 minutes to go around .. you can see the majority of the city from the top .. I would pay to ride it again for sure.. I don't normally give 5 stars I am fairly conservative with them but this was worth 5 stars I think..
Jedi E — Google review
Amazing views! VIP basket has a glass bottom and very comfortable seats. View from the top is amazing, if you can try to catch the sunset! Totally worth visiting!
David C — Google review
The view is good. But we went when all the cars were empty and yet they crammed everyone into one cabin... just so they can sell their vip tickets. I can understand this policy during busy times, but not when the wheel is empty. The seller didn't explain this policy when I was in the ticket booth.
James — Google review
Smooth experience, beautiful view of the city, and the ferris wheel isn't super fast, so you can take your pictures and videos but also soak in the view all at the same time. Staff were super nice, and the cost is only 80 pesos!!!

Museo Amparo, established in 1991, is a beautifully designed museum located in two colonial buildings combined to showcase an exceptional private collection of pre-Columbian and Colonial art. The museum features over 3,500 pieces of pre-Columbian, 19th-century viceroyal, and contemporary art.
This museum has rotating exhibits, and is well worth the cost of entry. The museum café, on the top floor has truly delicious mojitos and Guava mouse (like a cheesecake). Sit outside on the terrace for an amazing view and interesting surroundings.
Michaela A — Google review
Very impressive collection on artifacts. Definitely worth a visit. The only reason I didn't give it 5 star is that none of the exhibits have any English explanation. Everything is in Spanish only. If they want to become a world class museum they have to add English.

A must visit if you’re in Puebla. The museum houses a great collection of art from pre-colonial to contemporary, all well-curated and sympathetically presented. On the top floor there was a cafe. I took some amazing photos here.
G C — Google review
Free entry on Sundays. Terrace/ rooftop cafe is always free to go up. It's one of my favourite museums in Mexico so far! I always had hard time understanding the art and history of Mexico because I never learned its history. Museo Amparo explains from terminology of historic era to details of culture, people, agriculture, art and so on in easy and simple ways! (Mostly in Spanish, I used google translator). I learned so much today. The staff there are 10/10 too. Very professional and friendly. They offer a clay making class for free, there's schedule for it. I enjoyed contemporary art sections as well. Terrace area is good for afternoon coffee or study. It's a must visit if you're in Puebla.
Sophie — Google review
Beautiful museum. When I came, it was featuring alot of historic Mexican arts. Lots of different formats and art styles from paintings, sculptures, to video as well. Also some beautiful rest spaces here. Overall, really nice.
Leonard — Google review
Creepy!! If you can get past the workers, this could be an amazing experience. Unfortunately, the people who work there are just creepy, unsettling, even disgusting. They follow you around, staring at you, completely ruining the experience and making it hard to enjoy or appreciate the art. Signage is either confusing or nonexistent, and the staff constantly direct you and hover over you, making everything more uncomfortable. What should have been an inspiring visit turned into a terrible, distracting mess. It was extremely uncomfortable. They seem to get people liquored up in the café, and those guests add to the chaos. One woman, clearly drunk, walked right in front of us and started texting on her phone, completely blocking our view. Meanwhile, the guards chose to follow a father and his daughter, us, who were simply trying to enjoy the art, as if we were criminals. They don’t intervene when people are actually being disruptive, and they ignore kids making out in corners of the museum. If you can get past the creepy staff, most of whom weren’t friendly or welcoming, the space itself is extremely well curated. Art and exhibits are spread throughout the museum, and many were genuinely captivating. We saw one Diego Rivera piece. Some of the modern art was, as expected, out there, not all of it great, but there was a decent amount of English-language information available, which helped. This could have been an amazing visit, but discussing it afterward, we all agreed: the behavior of the staff destroyed it. One guy in particular stood out, clearly a frustrated police academy dropout. He followed us into a small room with one chair and a film playing, then stood in front of us and stared the entire time. Then he followed us into the next room and continued staring. I even took a photo of him. This guy needs to find another job. If you’re hoping to take part in one of their art classes, be aware you have to sign up at the ticket booth, not that it’s clearly explained anywhere. I would love to recommend this place for the art and architecture, but I can’t. Any enjoyment is going to be destroyed by the creepy, overbearing staff. Go somewhere people actually want you to be, where you’re appreciated as a guest. You won’t find that here. Unless you’re willing to endure a very uncomfortable experience just to see some interesting exhibits, you’re better off going elsewhere. The day we went we were not charged because they had a special exhibit. The best part about coming here is it is down the street from an amazing churro shop. Two blocks up the street when you walk out to the right!

Mercado de Sabores is a bustling public market where you can explore stalls filled with vibrant textiles, intricate Talavera pottery, and other handcrafted goods that showcase Puebla's cultural heritage. The market also offers a variety of local delicacies such as cemitas, tacos arabes, and artisanal cheeses that highlight the region's culinary traditions. Located near La Paz district, it provides an opportunity to discover designer boutiques and indigenous fashion pieces.
When I am in Puebla, I always try to eat here. For me it is the real comida poblana. Fantastic food, clean place and you can eat with the locals.
Csilla V — Google review
We came here thanks to the advice of some poblanos. This was really a great experience of the topical Puebla gastronomy at a decent price. We tested several dishes and it was awesome I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Puebla to make a stop at that market for the true and authentic food of Puebla

When visiting Puebla, this spot is definitely in our "place to eat" list. The Cemitas from Rebecca Quintero are the best!!! I first eat here when Mrs. Quintero was alive and working together as a family business but they were located in the market on the other side of the street.

One of the best places to have a typical cemita of Puebla en el restaurant Cemitas Rebeca Quintero. You must try the pork or the beef milanesa cemita. It's a most if you visit Puebla.

Went there for breakfast in search of the famous Cemita. This market hosts tens of local vendors offering a great variety of food. We are at Cemitas Alex and we got an awesome Cemita with coffee and Hibiscus water for less than $5 . Great Mercado to eat clean , high quality and low price food

I just got to say this , if you are hungry Stop by here, shop around you won't be disappointed. This Mercado de Sabores has little restaurants inside and if you come with a party up to 10 or 12 they will accommodate you at the spot. For big gatherings I will recommend to stop by in advance. If you visit Puebla Stop by this Mercado de Sabores it's near Downtown , by curious and ask everything before you order , you won't be disappointed.

La Pasita is a legendary bar located in the historic center of Puebla, known as the city's oldest and a must-visit spot for drinks. The bar offers unique shot-sized sweet drinks, with its star being the famous 'Pasita' shot, a sweet raisin-based liqueur served in a tequila glass. The place is small and cozy, with kitsch decor and souvenirs from the owner's travels.
Wonderful people and great drinks. A must visit when you are in Puebla. Very rich history here.
Dan J — Google review
This place is a Puebla staple. Don’t bother with other shots, just get the Pasita. Even as someone who doesn’t like raisins, this shot was still the best. The cheese is delicious, and the perfect complement. The service is friendly and accommodating as well.

Famous for their "Pasita" shot. Did not disappoint. Tried a variety of shots and all of them were delicious. Ended up buying a couple bottles to go. Super friendly owner who gave us the history of this family owned business.
Richard W — Google review
Nice little place in the historic center of Puebla. It is pretty small and seats no more than 15 people. Friendly service and unique shot-sized, mostly sweet, drinks. La pasita, i. e., Raisin liquor with cheese and a raisin inside is the clear star. There is a limit on how much they'll serve you per hour. No kitchen, but there is a small menu if items that they can whip up behind the bar.
Bobby C — Google review
Serious contender for best bar in the world (and I say that having been to bars in Germany, Brussels, Paris, Thailand, Japan, USA, Singapore, Belize and Amsterdam as well as other countries. La Pasita is highly original and has a truly unique and colorful history spanning over 100 years. If you are in Puebla this is the most essential place you must visit after the Cathedral.

The Great Pyramid of Cholula, also known as Tlachihualtepetl, is an ancient structure dating back to the 3rd century BC. It is considered the largest pyramid ever built, surpassing even the Great Pyramid of Giza. Abandoned in the 8th century AD and covered by earth, it was rediscovered when the Spanish arrived in the 1500s.
The site was nice. Spent maybe 30 minutes walking around and reading all the signs. The signs are in Spanish and English. Not the most impressive ruins and you can only climb the stairs near the exit, but I still enjoyed it. Tunnels were closed. 100 pesos entry. Visit the church at the top of the hill first, and then take the side path to the ruins
Maddi P — Google review
It was a great experience, unfortunately the tunnels are now closed to the public. But the museum as well as the visit to the Patio de la acústica with all the exposed excavations are well worth the visit.
L. C — Google review
The access tunnel leading underneath the temples was closed. Nobody knows if they will ever reopen. Still the visit yo the world's largest temple still amazes. A must-see and visit. There is an on site musem and another near entrance to the ruins. Recommend both.
Mark V — Google review
Big pre-Columbian pyramid (of which you don't see much, looks like a hill) with a yellow church on top, all of them free of charge. The view was nice but would have been amazing is it wasn't for the smog hanging around everywhere.
Simon C — Google review
Very disappointing. Tunnels have been closed since covid apparently. You climb the pyramid just to find another church on top. The best thing about it is the view from the top. The ruins themselves are not worth paying admission to. You can see them as you are walking down the pyramid. You can go stand in a big field with no shade and pay admission but I think it's a waste of money. We took the bus from Puebla which was 10 pesos. Cholula is worth a visit for a few hours but that's about it.
Cooliepops — Google review
Interesting to compare to other sites, like Mont Alban. Not as impressive, but interesting. Worth visiting for context.

Gorgeous, short steep climb. Incredible view. It's unfortunate that a cathedral spoils this historic monument, and the usual hawkers selling religious baubles are everywhere, but the Pyramid and the nearby ruins are spectacular.

Nestled within the historic Templo de Santo Domingo, the Capilla del Rosario is a stunning 17th-century chapel that captivates visitors with its opulent interior adorned in 24k gold stucco. Often referred to as The Golden House, this exquisite space showcases intricate details crafted from Talavera and onyx, creating an atmosphere of sheer elegance.
Even for the most jaded church visitor, this magnificent church and chapel is a marvel. Many of the shrines and chapels are lined with gorgeous, brilliant-blue talaveras. The main altarpiece is a Baroque wonder. However, the highlight is the main chapel, which is a vision of gilded Baroque magnificence.
Raymond L — Google review
There are churches, and then there are sanctuaries that glimmer — this is one of them. Hay iglesias, y luego hay santuarios que resplandecen — este es uno de esos. I always carry my faith with me wherever I travel, and La Capilla del Rosario in Puebla felt like coming home to reverence. This golden chapel is hidden within the Templo de Santo Domingo, yet once you step inside, the light, the gold, the art — it commands your full attention and your deepest prayer. Built between 1650 and 1690, it was the first chapel in Mexico dedicated exclusively to Our Lady of the Rosary. Because of its stunning gilded interior, the chapel has long been spoken of as the “Casa Dorada” — often called Puebla’s Eighth Wonder of the World. Every wall, every arch, every dome is adorned with gold leaf reliefs, cherubs, angels, vegetal motifs, aquatic imagery (fish, shells, waves) — a design that seems to whisper of sea and spirit. Below the paintings depicting the life of Mary, you’ll see Talavera tilework — each tile a bead in a giant rosary, framed by angels’ heads. At the heart of the chapel stands a statue of the Virgin of the Rosary, sheltered under a golden baldachin (ciprés), with Saint Dominic and Archangel Gabriel above — a vertical direction of prayer, faith, and intercession. Tradition holds that the Virgin of the Rosary also holds a special place in the hearts of mariners — the protector of those at sea. She is prayed to for guidance and safe passage over water — a fitting devotion in this chapel that evokes ocean motifs and divine presence. If you visit Puebla, don’t rush past this gem. Find a quiet moment inside, let the gold light wash over you, and whisper your prayers. It’s not only a monument of art; it’s a place where faith, history, and divine mystery meet. Hay iglesias, y luego hay santuarios que resplandecen — este es uno de esos. Michelle

Free admission to enter the church. It looks beautiful from the outside and must be from the inside. It is located quite central and easy to find by walking. Entrance accessible for wheelchairs.
Rita — Google review
A sumptuous chapel located inside the Church of Santo Domingo. You may pay 20 pesos for entry and its money well spent. There is always a line to see the pace because they are only allowing so many people at a time. Tee church is nice but the chapel is over the top, colonial baroque, with gold everywhere. Most impressive.
Bobby C — Google review
Magnificent, a must see, I'm no expert but its interior is so ornate it seems as much rococo as baroque. Either way, wow it is gorgeous.

If you’re looking for the BEST view in downtown Puebla with amazing food and service - this is the place to go. Delicious Mole (Mexican traditional chicken) with amazing aguas frescas. Service was quick and attentive. Highly recommend going to the second floor as the best view is there.

This was our first time to Puebla and we decided to try this place out. First of all, it’s right in front of the church in the center of the city. The restaurant is super clean, well attended and the personnel that work there are very nice. When you walk in, you see the cooks cooking the meals. Pro tip: Ask to sit upstairs where you can people watch and take awesome photos of the church. The food is delicious. Try the Mole poblano. It’s a perfect taste. Our servers name was Erick and he was energetic, patient, respectful and attentive. He was not pushy like some servers are. I 100% recommend eating at this place. We had a group of 10 people adults and kids. The atmosphere was perfect and the food was great!

Loved the food, loved the atmosphere. And what a location, too. Right across the street from the church. Our table was next to a window at the front, so we had that beautiful view. And with the weather being pleasant that evening, all windows were open, which made you feel even closer. Highly recommend.

The young Team gave us a warm welcome, they were patient with guests, which spanish is really bad. But it works and we had fun while our visit. We've ordered 5 Enchiladas con Pollo with each Mole they offer - and the Manchamanteles con Pollo. Now I know which Mole is , respective are, my favorites. I won't let you know, go there and try on your own. The dessert was pay de Limon and panque de elote, both were excellent. The menue offers you many varieties to mix the flavours they offer, which is great in my opinion. I would definitely recommend this place. Ps: Yes, I mix cake with Stout Beer...yummy

The Museo Internacional del Barroco, situated in Puebla, Mexico, is a modern architectural marvel designed by the renowned architect Toyo Ito. The museum's striking features include its curled white concrete walls and a water-filled courtyard. It houses an extensive collection of Baroque art, including paintings, sculptures, and murals from various countries.
Beautifully curated and very large museum with a mix of classic baroque art and more modern baroque-inspired pieces. Can easily spend 2 hours or more here. Great outdoor space within the museum as well as nice public park surrounding the museum. Highly recommend that you come see this— one of my favorite museums in Puebla!
Basia P — Google review
This museum was amazing, architecturally. The exhibits were ok but I did appreciate the many video installations they had. What was quite bothersome was that the flow within the museum was not clear to anyone and the guards had to keep telling everyone “not that way”, “this way please”, or “that’s an emergency door, please don’t open it”. Also, I really enjoy drawing when in museums. Unfortunately, I was told I couldn’t bring my notebook in. I understand bags not being allowed. But not allowing a lone notebook was a surprise. All in all absolutely worth going on free Sundays to see the magnificent architecture and adjacent park.
Annamarie D — Google review

Augurio is a restaurant located on the ground floor of La Quinta Esencia, owned by renowned chef Angel Vazquez. The restaurant boasts a simple yet stylish decor with stone walls and pops of hot pink. Vazquez's menu focuses on reviving forgotten and traditional dishes, including his great grandmother's mole poblano recipe without chocolate. The restaurant also offers savory snacks like cows foot tostadas and fideo seco with pork crackling and avocado.
Masterpiece. One of the best meals I've had in Mexico. From the exceptional service, the lovely atmosphere, to the masterful execution of the dishes, this spot is legendary. Romeritas: Soft delicate shrimp patties in mole. Really interesting texture and wonderful flavor. Arroz con mole: We had the house mole in numerous ways, because it is just so good. A fascinating take on mole Poblano, this version uses no chocolate, but gets it's flavor and texture from the combination of dried chiles and textured with plantain. Sopa de habas (lima beans). Wonderful soup, with some great acidity and depth. A perfect start. Pulpo (octopus): Cooked perfectly, in an extremely deep, slightly spicy salsa. This was the winner of the night, especially with the house made tortillas. Lechón: A more manageable take on the classic, with a perfectly crispy skin, pops of freshness and acidity to balance the fattiness. Tender, cooked perfectly. Postre: We shared a merengue tart with fresh fruit, which was delicious, and complimented a small digestif to cap everything off. Service was extremely knowledgeable and thorough without being overbearing. Highly recommended as a special occasion. Pricey but not over the top.
Beecat — Google review
The food was amazing. I had the beef tongue tacos and el mole poblano with chicken. Both amazingly delicious. The homemade tortilla chips, bread and dips were all very yummy too. The only thing I didn’t like was the music. It was just some kind of really tacky dance tracks on repeat. It really wasn’t necessary. Service ok. Although they had an English menu, the waiters didn’t really speak English. But the food was excellent so I’d recommend it.

If you're the type of person who likes mole, this restaurant is for you. They have different types of it and each dish is incorporated with it. I'm not the biggest fan of mole but I liked some of the dishes we had especially the lechon, the mole there was green and had a lighter taste compared to the others. They also have plenty of awards so I believe that proves a lot already. It's like a fine dining place but they don't have ac. The servers are very attentive and really worth the tip.

This is a little gem in Puebla. We visited on a Sunday evening after cocktails at Senonrita Caruso Centro. Augurio has a terrific menu and across appetizers, main course and dessert food was consistently good. We enjoyed Caldo de Habas, un Tamal y Chiles en Nogada. Our server allowed us to sample 2 recommended wines. Both solid wines. Dessert was Tres Leches. Mi novia said it was very good. The hostesses were very sweet and attentive. Our waiter was mostly responsive and attentive. The restaurant had a nice ambiance and for the area had ample seating. Highly recommended.

Augurio was the recommendation of a local tour guide after disappointing gastronomy experiences at La Noria and Santóua Gastrobar with the inflexibility of the chefs to accommodate vegetarian dietary needs. Upon arrival I was greeted by Gerardo Vega the General Manager. I told him this was my last attempt at having a fulfilling vegetarian fine dining experience on my final day in Puebla. I shared my disappointment with La Noria and Santóua Gastrobar and Gerardo reassured me he would go to great lengths to make my time at Augurio memorable. The menu is full of vegetarian options and Gerardo and his team made the whole menu available for modifications as I needed. My server Rafael was timely, communicated with me and executed service above and beyond. I loved seeing Gerardo interact with all the guests, genuinely caring about their experience and addressing their needs. Gerardo’s employees described him as an excellent leader. Augurio filled my vegetarian belly with lots of deliciousness and I leave Puebla complete in my fine dining journey. Keep up the great work Gerardo and Rafael!

A nice bar with a good vibe. The drinks and snacks were good and the servers were attentive. We enjoyed the music and the outdoors seating. Inside was a bit crowded and it was easier to hold a conversation outside. Our only complaint was that they were not flexible to substitute Tequilla for Mezcal in the Mezcal Pepino cocktail. I respect their right, but this is a bar and adding a shot of tequila rather than a shot of mezcal is so simple. It’s unfortunate as we did not order a second round. Other than that we like the place.

Fonda de Santa Clara is a popular upscale restaurant in Puebla known for its exquisite mole dishes. The restaurant offers various types of moles, with the Mole Poblano being a favorite among locals. For those who can't decide, there's a mole sampler to try all the options. The establishment also boasts a beautiful mural of famous Pueblanos and serves complimentary Mezcal and beers.
As someone originally from Puebla but raised in the States, I grew up with amazing mole, so I was excited to discover that Puebla has another well-known dish. After some research, Fonda de Santa Clara came up with excellent reviews, so I had to give it a try. I received a warm welcome and was seated quickly. There was live music in the restaurant. However, after the music ended, the performers went around asking for donations. I had only caught part of one song and didn’t have any cash on me. When I politely declined, the performer didn’t seem pleased and gave me an uncomfortable stare before moving on to other guests. Despite that awkward moment, the service was efficient, and the food arrived in a reasonable time. The mole tasted very similar to my mom’s—rich and flavorful but a bit sweeter and less spicy. The restaurant's specialty dish, however, was outstanding! I’m glad to say that Puebla truly knows how to make amazing food. Overall, I highly recommend this place for an authentic Puebla dining experience.

I recently had an amazing experience at this place! The moles were absolutely delightful, and I couldn't resist trying the pork chop with three different moles. Out of all of them, the light brown mole stole the show for me—it was simply exquisite! The drinks were refreshing, and my family's dishes were nothing short of delicious. One standout was the Chanclas, which really impressed everyone at the table. Overall, it was a fantastic meal that I can't wait to revisit!

So in here the chile en nogada weighted half a kilo and was big enough to share. We share for two people and it was delicious. Only one cost $550, so once divided given the size felt fair for the price. The flavor!! The cream is truly made out of pecans, the filling had olives and other delicious things. I would 100% eat here again. The service was great as well! I left a bag and forgot it in the restaurant after I left and remembered after 15 min, came back to the restaurant and they had put it away for safety. Obviously I was able to get it back. We got there when it was like 30 minutes before closing and were able to finish our food just in time as well.

Great introduction to a lot of classic Puebla foods here, with seasonal specialty and in a great central location. We had mole poblana and sopa de pollo as well as the house special pollo frito. All were delicious. You can choose the type of meat you'd like with your mole which is a nice touch! (Leg every day!) Lovely setting in the historic centre but a very homely and nice feeling of home cooking.

We are vacationing here in Puebla and our taxi driver recommended this restaurant. Wow not just the food was excellent, but the ambiance was great! It has an old world charm and the service was the best. Ricardo took very good care of us! We plan on coming back to try some of there other specialties like their mole!

What a cute place! The taxi driver that took us to our airbnb from the airport recommended this place and it did not disappoint! We shared a chile en nogada and when I tell you it was scrumptious 😋 I mean it was perfection. If you go during season which is July thru September you have to try one. It is big and easily split they even cut it for you during preparation. We asked for a sample of the mole poblano and it was quite tasty. We both got margaritas the brown is tamarind. Pink I don’t remember.

I heard Puebla is known for their mole, and this place is supposedly one of the best places for that. I tried the entree that came with 4 enchiladas topped with 4 different moles. I was not a fan of the peach one. My favorite one was the green mole. My cousins preferred the original one. Overall, all the food was good. They had live music, and the service was phenomenal.

What a great museum!! There are three floors full of amazing scientific and musical instruments, as well several galleries of artwork. There are 5 line drawings by Salvador Dali that were amazing. We used the Google translate app to read the info signs - you can point your camera at text and see an instant translation. 30 MXN to see all that - what a find. Highly recommend.

Little or nothing in English, all in Spanish. No guides, no information, few or no explanations in English, everything in Spanish, how ignorant we do not share our culture because we are not interested in translating into English. Terrible!

The museum is nice. Medium size. I like the old scientific instruments. But no demo, or diagrams showing how they work. There're Spanish notes on what they are. The rest of the collection are paintings, mostly religious paintings. Some are quite large. Photos not allowed inside. Wednesday is free. I was there yesterday (Wednesday) and it was closed. The doorman told me to cone back the next day. Now is 30 pesos. No reason no sign as why it was closed.

It offers upscale Poblano specialties in a modern, well-lit space with abstract art and a tree at the center of the front room. The restaurant is known for its excellent service and delicious food, including recommended dishes like mole. Additionally, it boasts an extensive selection of mezcal, including varieties from Puebla.
Great experience just beyond the centro historico. Everything was excellent, but the mole was sublime. Javier did a good job describing the nuances in the mezcal tasting. Dinner included an elote appetizer and a chocolate truffle palette cleanser. Highly recommend!!

Excellent early dinner before going to the arena. Staff was welcoming, knowledgeable and with great suggestions for both food and mezcal. Food was tasty, balanced and complex with great local products. The mezcalinas were absolutely delicious. Overall we had a really nice and fun evening before enjoying 2 hours of lucha libre!

Me and my dad came here for dinner. The drinks were really good. The atmosphere was comfy and clean, not too loud, just nice to sit and enjoy. For the appetizer we had a quesadilla with bugs in it, which sounds kind of crazy but it was actually really good. I got the tamale with mole for my main and it was super tasty, really full of flavor. They also gave us a complimentary elote which was a nice surprise. The service was good too. Everyone was friendly and checked on us the right amount, not too much but not ignoring us either. Overall it was a really good dinner and we were both happy we came.

An absolutely delightful experience. The corn on the cob with cheese and chilli was a taste sensation, as was the blue corn quesadilla with zucchini flowers and insects. The food is prepared and presented with such care and attention. Loved the cemitas and also the complimentary chocolate truffles coated with crushed grasshoppers. A dinner to remember, and I'd recommend this spot to others seeking not just refined food, but also great service and a wonderful experience.

As a passionate foodie, I can honestly say this was one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment we walked in, everything was exceptional, the atmosphere, the staff, the presentation, and of course, the food. The menu was creative and beautifully thought out - every dish felt like a work of art, both visually and in flavour. You could taste the care and imagination behind every bite. The presentation was exquisite, served on stunning handcrafted plates that made the food itself feel like part of the decor. The staff were warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming. We even had the chance to meet the owner and his son, who were so kind and humble - their passion for what they’ve created really shines through in every detail. The restaurant itself is gorgeous: elegant, artistic, and full of character. Every corner has been designed with love. If you love food — truly love food — this place is a must. It’s a perfect blend of creativity, heart, and craftsmanship. I left feeling inspired, nourished, and already dreaming about my next visit.

Absolutely outstanding experience! We visited Salón Mezocalli with a group and were completely impressed from start to finish. The atmosphere was excellent – warm, authentic, and full of character. The service was equally outstanding: attentive, friendly, and professional throughout the our visit. We ordered a wide variety of dishes from the menu, and every single one was exceptional. You can truly taste the passion and quality in every bite. I can wholeheartedly and unreservedly recommend this restaurant. Anyone visiting Puebla – especially more than once – should definitely make Salón Mezocalli a must-stop on their list.

Tucked away in the heart of Puebla, Salón Mezcali offers an unforgettable dining experience that perfectly balances casual charm with refined service. From the first bite to the last, the food was exceptional — every entrée a delight. The mole stood out as a true highlight: rich, aromatic, and deeply traditional, while the guacamole was wonderfully fresh and vibrant. Vegetarian diners will be happy to find plenty of thoughtful options, each crafted with care and creativity. The atmosphere is chilled and inviting, yet the staff’s warmth and attentiveness made us feel truly special — treated like queens from start to finish. Salón Mezcali is a place that celebrates flavor, hospitality, and heart. A must-visit for anyone looking to experience Puebla’s culinary magic. Dominique- I just loved it! Thank you!

The Museo Regional de la Revolución Mexicana is a historical home that played an important role in the Mexican Revolution. It contains exhibits on the history of the revolution, including photographs and weapons.
This was my second time visiting this museum and it’s my absolute favorite. It is ra key piece of Mexican history. This is where the Mexican revolution started with Serdán Family. It had been renovated and more exhibits had been added since I went 10 years ago. The house is in immaculate condition and still has the bullet holes in the wall and the destroyed furniture from the battle. They have added more signs in Spanish and English (which although not necessary was a pleasant surprise). The staff is very polite and helpful and the explanations in each room really give you feel for how the family lived and how the events of the Mexican Revolution transpired. This is a must see if you visit Puebla City
Kelsey L — Google review
An absolutely historic place for Mexican history! All signs had English which was a great help, and arrows on the floor so you can follow the site chronologically. $48 pesos per entry but definitely worth it.
Idris J — Google review
Excellent museum and displays. More extensive than we thought it would be. Display descriptions are in both Spanish and English. Rooms in chronological order tell the fascinating story of the beginnings of the Mexican Revolution. Don't skip this museum!
Drake M — Google review
The Museo Regional de la Revolución Mexicana Casa de los Hermanos Serdán in Puebla is a fascinating historical site that immerses visitors in the story of Mexico’s Revolution. The house, once home to the Serdán family, preserves its revolutionary legacy with bullet-riddled walls and exhibits showcasing artifacts, photographs, and personal belongings. The museum captures the bravery of the Serdán family, who played a key role in sparking the uprising against Porfirio Díaz. Its well-preserved rooms and engaging displays transport visitors back to the early 20th century, offering a vivid glimpse into Mexico’s fight for justice and freedom.
Izzy H — Google review
If you love history and museums, this is a great place to visit. Located in Puebla's El Centro, just northeast of the zocalo, this museum offers a great documentary of one of the uprising events giving birth to the Mexican Revolution. In fact, it is in itself "self documenting" as this is the actual location where the events took place. Here, documented, are the details of the Serdán brothers and their spouses, as they planned their revolutionary uprising. The historical chronicle ends with a broader summary of the Mexican Revolution. It's near, too, Calle de los Dulces. So afterward, pop over and treat yourself to something sweet!
K M — Google review
Very interesting views of the beginning of the Mexican Revolution. Many historical photos and documents on display. Beautifully restored furnishings. Some informational plaques in english as well as spanish language.
Renew2553 — Google review
The house where the Mexican revolution broke out. The house was the home of the Serdan brothers - I feel the house and its decoration may have changed a lot since the Serdan's lived there - it is more like a monument than a time capsule from 1910. If you are not Mexican, you may not have heard of los hermanos Serdan - but they played an important role and are famous in Puebla. Apart from this museum there is also a tall column and statues of the brothers erected just north of La Paz - on 'Boulevard Hermanos Serdan'. 40 pesos to enter the museum.
Jesper O — Google review
Great museum in the very house where the history happened. You can see the bullet holes in the exterior. Inside you pay 48 pesos per person. Then you get to walk through the house and learn about the events that took place here, two days before the Mexican Revolution began. (This is really a precursor battle and story about the revolution itself.) In addition to the history of the Serdàn family, there is more about the events leading up to the revolution and the early years of it, through the end of the Madero presidency. It also includes some rooms that show what life in the house was like in 1910.

The Mezcaleria Miel de Agave was founded several years ago by renowned chef Liz Galicia and has been successful from the start. The food is locally sourced, with Chile en Nogades as a specialty. We started with typical appetizers such as chalupas and tacos, which are very finely prepared and far superior to street food. As it is currently in season, we also tried the chile en nogades. This is a very interesting dish, with apples and pears in the filling, giving it a sweet touch. To our taste, a counterpoint with more acidity or spiciness would have brought out the dish even more. Despite how busy it was, the service was attentive and very friendly. Highly recommended.

Amazing food, service and cute ambiance. For me it was a real gastronomic experience of Mexican cuisine 👌☺️ highly recommend

Stunning all around, humble, beautiful and tasty. Ordering the Chilaquiles del Anafre con Arrachera was perhaps one the best decisions I have made this week. The chunks of steak- perfect and juicy, habanero in the sauce- distinct flavorful and subtle, chips- crispy and fresh. Every element world class. Excellent service. We ate breakfast here yesterday, one of the only establishments that opened early enough for us. My omelette was just as good.
Lee E — Google review
I did not enjoy the food here. However, what was least enjoyable, was the fact that we were charged $0.03 pesos for slices of bread with a side salsa, that we did not order. When we brought this to our waiters attention, he said that the charge was added to the check for "control". He also made a comment about how $0.03 pesos is not a lot of money and then in a rude/sarcastic manner said that he would pay for it. I definitely will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone.

Came for a dinner. There were so many delicious looking items on the menu that we ended up ordering way too much just so we could try different things. The food is really good. I wish they had half stars because I’d give it 4.5 stars. The ambiance is nice. The service was good too. It’s about a six minute walk from the zocalo. The prices are more than a lesser restaurant, but still not overly expensive.

Mole Poblano was good and the pork ribs were tender. Crema Poblano was tasty. The beef was a bit tough but otherwise taste was okay.
Welly L — Google review
I specifically seemed out the mole Poblano. A waitress welcomed me in. She disappeared after I was served. The mole was great but the rice was off. I pointed that out to another server and she took it back but never came back to check in with me. Felt dismissive. I wouldn't recommend based on service and a knowledgment of my complaint. The fact that it was so empty should have been my red flag.

This restaurant is part of the Hotel El Señorial (which is also a great option if you'd like to stay in the historic district of Puebla). We ate here 3 times and every time was a delightful experience, the chef here delivers a combination of deliciousness and beauty in his/her dishes. We just couldn't help coming back. The waiters and waitresses were also super friendly and attentive. All in all, if you are in the area, "El Anafre Rojo" will not disappoint, just drop by, no need for reservations (at least we didn't need any).
Diego — Google review
The food is delicious, mostly from Puebla but the menu also includes other kind of Mexican food, very well prepare and in creative styles. The environment is very comfortable and sophisticated. And it is in a great location in the center of the city. Finally, it has very economic prices for what you receive. Expect a bill of no more than US$25 for two people with drinks (non-alcohol), appetizers, soup and main dishes.

Casa Barroca is a high-end restaurant in Puebla, Mexico that offers amazing food and a beautiful setting. It has Private Parking and Room Service, which makes it perfect for special occasions.
Had lunch here at the restaurant and was blown away by the service, delicious dishes (the Mosaica tuna dish was amazing), and the ambiance. Incredible desserts and great drinks (mezcal, aperol spritz, etc), too. Truly a gem.

Make sure you go over everything in the room during check in. They charged us for allegedly stealing a robe that was never in the room. Meanwhile the valet took 40 minutes to bring our car around front. Overall room was pretty nice except the bathroom sink barely dribbled water.

Started great, good table beautiful place bread service with nice twist on butter presentation. Then it started to go bad, pasta tasteless meat overcooked not close to a medium rear or medium more a medium well to well done, spice over over sweet. It was sent back, dry pasta soup so so salty. Simply a disaster.

This is actually a review of the hotel suites. I am so pleased with the comfortable bed, the hot shower, the deep bathtub, the towels, the room appointments. I would not hesitate to stay here again. One heads up of note. They have a working kitchen so the peace and quiet of the night was broken at around 7:30 by kitchen people noises and distant music. I travel with earplugs because my wife snores but just a warning that you’re going to want to bring some earplugs if background noises like that make for a bad sleeping experience. Especially if you were up late the night before lol. Note 2: putting rosemary and lime pieces in the water bottle in the room sounds like a cute boutique spa idea, but it is actually a pretty stupid idea and it would be better just to have plain water.

Perched atop the ancient Piramide Tepanapa, the Santuario de la Virgen de los Remedios is a stunning church that offers breathtaking views of Cholula. This vibrant structure, adorned with colorful tiles and built in the 16th century, stands as a fascinating symbol of cultural convergence. Interestingly, it was constructed before the Spanish fully recognized that they were building on a site that once housed a pagan temple.
Nice church. Steep but short walk up, either stairs or a ramp. And you take the side gate back down to get to the archeological site. It was cool to see them ring the church bell by hand. The inside of the church is actually very big and it's like a house in the back section. I recommend walking behind the altar area to see the rest, there's a door to the left that says "entrada" and it leads in a semi-circle through a bunch of different rooms. Lots of snack and fruit sellers at the bottom.
Maddi P — Google review
The Santuario de la Virgen de los Remedios is located at a high altitude, and the air quality in the area can be challenging. The hike up to the church may be strenuous for those who are not accustomed to such conditions, but reaching the top is a worthwhile experience. The site is well-maintained, offering beautiful views, and the church itself has a magical atmosphere. Don’t forget to explore the back room of the church—you might be pleasantly surprised!
SIRLUNA ( — Google review
Really came to see the buried pyramid and the tunnels, but they were closed. Which sucked. So I hiked the long way up to the church, which is quite a climb in the hot sun. Nice church, amazing view. Wanted to check out more of the inside, but it was Sunday and there were a lot of people praying and I did not want to intrude. Lots of interesting vendors around, a very chaotic area to say the least.
Laurin J — Google review
This is a great hike up the site of an ancient pyramid. I thoroughly enjoyed knowing it was underneath the ground we walked on and the few parts that were exposed are impressive. I wish the tunnels would reopen and that the city would consider more excavating of the pyramid.
Evie — Google review
This church is beautiful inside and there are sweeping views of the city. It is a very steep hike with stairs though, so keep that in mind.
Heather S — Google review
Beautiful! You need to be in a little bit of shape to be able to make the walk up to the church. I'm not sure if they have an alternative way up to the church for the wheelchair bound or elderly people as there is no way some people would be able to get to it.

Museo Casa del Mendrugo, situated in Puebla, Mexico, is a captivating museum housed in a renovated colonial home. It showcases the rich history, customs, and artistry of Puebla through an array of relics, artwork, and historical displays. The museum also features beautiful examples of Talavera pottery and intricately carved human skulls and seashells. Additionally, it offers a unique blend of ancient Egyptian artifacts alongside Mexican relics.
I tried the enchilada plate with three sauces. Americana these are traditional enchiladas. A folded corn tortilla with meat and then the sauce. If you are adventurous give it a try! The museo (museum) upstairs is full of artifacts found when the building was restored. It was beautifully assembled.

As a restaurant guest @ La Casa del Medrugo you are able to access their museum free of charge. A must visit you shouldn’t miss if you are in Puebla.

I had a fantastic experience in this museum! Everyone should go! It’s above the restaurant so you walk up the steps. I didn’t know what I would see in the museum as I was not dining in the restaurant and opted to take my own tour at first. However, Manuel gave me a fantastic, throrough, & fun experience detailing everyday Poblano life and the skulls of Prehispanic lords. It’s so worth paying 50 pesos to get the guided tour, and if you come on a Wednesday they let you in for free. The souvenuirs are cool too. I got a book about the excavation. Everyone is super friendly! This is a must see location for all the fantastic history native to that building and architecture alone. If you want something unique to Puebla don’t miss this!!
Kai L — Google review
The museum is an odd hybrid of copies of ancient Egyptian artifacts and brief descriptions and ancient Mexican artifacts..But, downstairs is an elegant, ambient restaurant with fantastic food and excellent service at a surprisingly reasonable cost. We loved it so much, we made reservations for the following night. It's sublime.

It’s a very nice place to visit and probably dine. The best part was that restaurant manager at the end came to get feedback, which is a super good sign for any organization. As I said the ambiance and decorations are good with special taste but here are some point for improvement 1- we were there for dinner and there was a live music in place. The music was sooooo load and not that much pleasant. 2- food in general were soooo sweet which may not be so much desirable for everyone

Moyuelo is a small and trendy restaurant that offers a fresh and contemporary approach to traditional Pueblan cuisine. It presents a tightly curated selection of classic regional flavors with a fusion of European influences, such as the burrata salad and cemitas de lengua. The menu features upscale cemitas made with locally sourced ingredients, along with creative cocktails like the mezcal clamato.
One of the finest restaurants I’ve been here in Puebla! Great food and great service!
Cosmin N — Google review
My friend and I walked in and got a lovely table by the window. The cocktails were creative and excellent. We shared 3 starters, and it was plenty of food for two people with smaller appetites. But the mains looked very tempting - next time!

Very innovative restaurants! The grilled cauliflower is sweet but awesome. 24-hour pork has a just-right texture and is perfect. The mochi cocoa dessert is flawless, with a good balance of sweet & salty, mochi & ice cream. Love it. The street view is lovely and service is very good
Nico Z — Google review
Service was perfect. We got a detailed explanation of each dish and the waitress was happy to answer all our questions. I can't remember what it was that we were given on the house before our starters but it was delicious. It was a tempura for a vegetable I cannot remember the name now. As starters we got the tongue carpaccio and a quesabirria. Both excellent. I did not love my main. The braised beef was nice but it was a bit bland. I did not enjoy the hummus it came with. It was very lemony and in my opinion it did not marry the beef. The flavours were too contrasting. Also the dish needed some crunch. The other main we had was the octopus which was very nice but the portion was quite small. For dessert we tried the peanut and corn. I did not enjoy the flavours of the dessert. Presentation in all dishes was spot on. I think I was just unlucky in choosing my main. I would go again.

Well sometimes 5 means 6. So far the best restaurant both in Mexico in this trip (and so far) . Cauliflower- I hope that I will be Abe to recreate. Aged cheese 🧀 was so rich in taste. And I do not normally eat tongue but my daughter really want to try it and … it was VERY good . A bit more expensive then the normal Mexican restaurants but in US standards it it Michelin for the price of …. Way less

They have been in this new location for 2 years. Place is comfortable and modern. Cemita menu is diminished from the previous locación, there are not as many cemita choices available than before but still the cuisine is good. As many high end restaurants portions are not abundant , but they compensate in taste. It’s not a cheap bite but we’ll worth it.

Hotel Boutique Casona de la China Poblana is a charming upscale hotel located in the heart of Puebla de Zaragoza. Housed in a picturesque 17th-century mansion, this boutique hotel offers polished rooms with vintage details and free WiFi. The hotel's restaurant is known for serving up a delicious pine nut-based mole, while nearby dining options include traditional Poblano dishes like chalupas and sweet treats at La Calle de los Dulces.
On our way to the Zocalo, I stumbled upon a grand statue inside a historic building and felt compelled to explore further. I ventured in and discovered a restaurant within the Hotel Boutique Casona de la China Poblana. The menu was enticing, so we decided to enjoy lunch in the lovely courtyard. With the entire restaurant to ourselves, we savored delicious food and drinks, complemented by attentive service. The owner, noticing us taking photos by the impressive statue, graciously offered to capture a picture of us. Overall, it was a truly delightful dining experience! Note that we were not hotel guests.

It was a highly anticipated stay in late June and early July of 2025 based on all the nice but old reviews. But it turned out that we couldn't even get the basic services such as hot water in the showr and the bathrooms. It was brutal to take cold showers and wash hands in cold water in this cool/cold city even during the summer time. Staff were nice but no one was around at night so we had no one to turn to. This beautiful hotel was empty and it felt like a ghost town at night and early morning. It seems like this nice place has been abandoned for a long time, while other places nearby were hustling and happening. Breakfast was very basic and nothing special. But the manager was nice to offer us some refund due to the unavailability of hot water. But that was three months ago and still no refund. Highly recommend you stay in other places, and this one from the "past" and still in the "past".

Fantastic place and the best location in downtown Puebla. Great staff very attentive to guests needs . Hot Breakfast and if not enough plenty of good places around to eat or grab a snack. Only drawback is road noise made by cobblestone roads early in the morning but other than that a place I would go back to in my next visit

An excellent hotel in close proximity to the zocalo. In a heartbeat I would again stay in the room Samarcanda which features a comfortable loft sitting area. The room is well maintained with beautiful high ceilings and hard wood floors. The hotel courtyard is a relaxing retreat from seasonal afternoon rains and be certain not to miss breakfast. While I generally skip breakfast, the food here was one of the highlights of my trip.

One of the finest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. My beautiful room had stylish décor and extravagant bathroom. Each morning it was a great pleasure to have breakfast in the lovely courtyard, featuring seasonal fruit, toast, egg dishes, juice and coffee. The location in the historic center is superb. Most importantly, the hotel staff members are experts in customer service. I had a personal emergency during my stay. The hotel manager and restaurant manager went out of their way to show tremendous kindness to me, which I will never forget. I am so fortunate to have stayed at this wonderful hotel.

Hotel La Purificadora is an upscale hotel located in a 19th-century factory, offering elegant rooms and dining options. The hotel features a rooftop pool with views of the San Francisco church and the distant volcano. The building was formerly a water processing plant and bottling factory, now transformed into a sleek, contemporary design by renowned Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta.
I wanted to take a moment to say how great this hotel was to stay at. Not simply because the rooms were excellent, the food was outstanding, the facility cool and the location convenient to the whole of Puebla but because the staff went above and beyond for my family and I in a moment of need. Last month (Jan. 2025) we were one hour from check out after a great stay. Eating breakfast and my wife gets a message that our flight is cancelled and we are stuck until Thursday…It was Monday. With the quick help of the staff (after assuring us that we had a room there if we truly were stuck) helped us book a last-minute bus to Mexico City and found us a room there for the night to catch an alternative flight out the next morning. With their help, we made it home safe ten hours late instead of three days late. They could have said “not our problem” and likely got us to pay for another three days…Instead they helped us when we need it the most. Should we return to Puebla, we will never stay anywhere else.
Andrew T — Google review
Avoid, better options for a comparable rate! My recent stay at the hotel was horrible and I continued to encounter issues despite being moved to another room. I like staying at design hotels because they restore the historical structures and usually provide better services. However, la Purificadora is poorly managed and repetitive problems throughout ruined the experience. The first room was really nice and I was looking forward to relaxing. However, the a/c unit was pouring water onto the floor and there was a pool of water on the floor. The a/c was directly over the closet and one of my bags got wet, luckily I laid my clothes on the chairs. The windows are not sound proof and loud music was playing from the bar next door throughout the night. The second room was smaller with no terrace, which I did not care if it was quiet. However, they were doing construction at 7 am on Sunday morning and woke me up. In addition, the shower head was not properly placed and sprayed everywhere. The shower floor also flooded and water ran into the common room. The front desk indicated that they will send someone, but they only fixed the shower head. I made a few complaints at the front desk, but management never got back to me. I have videos and photos, but I am unable to share in this correspondence. Overall, many of the issues I have encountered were due to a lack of effective management throughout the property. The restaurant was also all over the place and there was a lack of organization to ensure people are greeted as they walk in and seated, it was a free for all. Needless to say my vacation was ruined. I was unable to rest and returned feeling exhausted from my stay due to the accommodations. The cleaning and service staff were great, but management needs to step up to ensure maintenance of the property! I definitely will not be back!

My 3rd visit. It's a very attractive place on a good location. It has a big terrace with a glass pool and one can eat/drink enjoying a really nice view. I like the pool concept but on my last visit it looked as if the pool is bending, I don't know if it's the type of glass and/or usage but it's something important for the hotel to check out.

Museo Casa de Alfeñique is a historical museum located in an 18th-century colonial mansion in Puebla, Mexico. The house was originally built by Ignacio Morales, a wealthy ironworker, and features elaborate stucco-work resembling the famous sweet sugar candies called 'alfeniques'. The museum has been completely restored and now houses exhibits depicting the history of Puebla as well as regional art, commerce, and industry.
Beautiful exterior that resembles a candy house, and an exhibition with lots of history about Mexican independence and customs as well as an upper floor with pieces from the original house.

Originally, the museum was the home of some wealthy family. Today it's a museum with displays on regional history and art. Unfortunately, the displays have no English explanations, so if you're not fluent in Spanish, you won't get much out of your visit. It's too bad about this because Puebla is such an amazing city with such a rich history. Architecturally, though, the museum is stunningly beautiful. So even if you don't enter, check out its exterior. If you're a student or teacher, you get half price (from 40 pesos to 20 pesos).

Excellent breakfast and brunch spot, lovely location, food is very good. We enjoyed the enchiladas, the flautas, and the pastries. Personally I’m not a fan of the coffee beans they use to make espresso, they deliver high acidity which is not what an expresso should have. Also, the portion for the cappuccino is more of a macchiato, too small

It's a great place to spend your whole afternoon reading and feeling you are at a french cafe instead. Lots of people that visit have this vibe and it is honestly so relaxing! You can work there if you are in need of a coffee shop type of environment, besides there is great music playing and the background noise is at the perfect level to let you focus and still capture the mind that wanders in search of a sound to catch on. Recommend it a lot. It is not that pricey to spend a lot of time there and enjoy perhaps a book presentation. They have a letterboard at the entrance that allows you to know a lot of events happening at the surroundings or inside the place.

Breakfast restaurant
I tend to avoid restaurants with extensive menus because it's hard to believe they can excel at everything. However, El Viejo Rosario manages to come very close. Not only is the price affordable, but they offer a wide variety of Mexican favorites such as chilaquiles, enchiladas, arrachera, and tamales. During our visit to Puebla, this was the restaurant we frequented the most. The quality of food is exceptional and well worth the price.
No wonder this restaurant appears to be in the list of best in Puebla. Also you can tell a restaurant is good when is not full of tourists and instead locals are there. The service was impeccable, very kind, it also helped so much for a tourist that the menu was full of images so it made it easier to order. Everything we had was delicious, the marimba (rack of ribs) with mole poblano was finger licking good. Probably not handicap friendly since the washrooms are upstairs, but the decor was great for pictures. I think it becomes a bar at night, lunch service was extremely quick. Will come back next time.
Cris R — Google review
The service was pretty good, but the food was incredibly...bland and small in portion. We ordered a rib and you can tell it has been sitting there for probably a day since it had turned stale and dry. The spaghetti probably only comprised of few strand of noodles per dish, and the Lechero was so watered down it almost tasted like milk flavored water. But, it is incredibly budget-friendly here, and the only reason I didn't give it one-star. (Cash only) so you are getting what you are paying for. Just don't have high expectations.

Service was exceptional, the staff was friendly and always attentive. The food was good but could've had some more flavor. The restaurant decor is unique. Classical to Puebla.

Love this restaurant! I’m here for a week for business and I’ve eaten here twice in 4 days because its so delicious. Adrian on the wait staff made me feel welcome and helped me with the huge amount of menu items, I had chiliquiles for dinner delicious next time I had mole poblano. Yummy! Best chicken I’ve eaten in Mexico don’t miss this place, its a former palace and has loads of ambiance, Dolores keeps it super clean, thank you for the photo!

the 3 mole enchiladas was phantastic and an absolute steal at 79mx. extensive menu with most of the classic dishes at a very low pricepoint. great budget place

I visited this in a jam-packed Sunday afternoon. Simple yet tasty food was served surprisingly soon. A wide assortment of peppers, salsas and seasonings (including parmesan gratin) will accompany whatever food you order. For its low price, you get a good bang for your buck

Excellent restaurant. It's an unobtrusive restaurant with a nice atmosphere and excellent food (Mole Poblano). Great prices!
Petr P — Google review
Nice, Mexican restaurant, quite big despite the narrow entry area. Very good is the menu, that has a photo of each dish, so even without Spanish you know what you'll get! We had each a drink, the enchiladas tres moles and a red pozole. While the enchiladas were good, especially with the green mole, the soup was disappointing. We got a bread with it, that wasn't great, but also tacos, that were decent. The total price was below 300$, so quite affordable. We didn't like, that all the cutlery was packed in plastic. It seemed like a big waste.

The dining experience at Maíz Criollo Mexico was truly exceptional. Every dish, from the sangria to the corn lime soup-like corn, and even the packed-with-meat short rib tacos and pozole, exceeded expectations. The must-try dessert, a corn cheesecake, was simply marvelous. This restaurant in Puebla comes highly recommended for its incredible culinary offerings.
Very tasty food! The most delicious meal since we came to Mexico. Recommend oxtail, grasshoppers and cheese shrimp. Although we came very late (we finished after their working time) the restaurant still keeps nice service.

Recommended by Google and glad we went! The decor is a rustic modern which provides a comfortable dining ambiance. I had the Huarache de Hoja Santa con Pork Belly y Mole Poblano and couldn’t recommend it enough, I love the crunchy pork belly skin complimented with the mole. We also had the oxtail which was equally as impressive. The meal was complete with corn ice cream with a red wine reduction glaze and a cocktail. By far the best meal I’ve had on this trip and I look forward to coming back again soon!

This church is beautiful and has great significance! The most amazing thing about this church, to me, is that it holds the remains of Caterina de San Juan, "China Poblana." She was a woman who came from China and loved Mexican culture and people so much that she became Mexican, dressed in beautiful Mexican clothes, and all the dolls around Mexico are based off her! How incredible that her body is here!!!! Another thing that makes this church unique is that it has two towers and three front entrances....this used to be something only Cathedrals had, but this church has it. If you get a chance to visit this place, definitely come!!!

For those visiting Puebla and seeking a taste of local craft beer, Beso de Malta is the ideal destination. With a rotating selection of ten taps, they offer various Mexican craft beers from Puebla and Veracruz. One notable brewery is 5 day Mayo, though the Veracruz beers are also highly enjoyable. Situated at Av 2 Sur 904 in the historic center of Puebla, this brewpub opens its doors at 4:00 PM daily.
Rely welcoming place, fantastic beers, very original but truly amazing taste. Totally recommended for anyone who is remotely into craft beers. You can test them all, buy a tester menu, have food, there is even a big communal table you could do drunk work from. Absolutely amazing.

(Translated by Google) One of the photo assistants at the entrance got upset because I didn't want to take my picture. She gave me a dirty look even though I didn't sign or accept any privacy notice for the use of my information and/or photos. In the end, they sell it as an optional extra for between 200 and 350 pesos, depending on the format you choose. They should respect that and ask. Most of the guides are friendly and happy to explain things, while others don't do anything. The museum is a bit small, but it's fine for kids so they don't get tired. The bathroom cleaner was also a bit rude. The $80 general admission includes the screening. I liked it, although some parts were out of focus on the projector and it looked blurry.

In my opinion this park is great because there's plenty of things to do everything is nice and clean there are many fountains. There are lots of different snacks to enjoy during your visit. You can even take a look at the different museums around the area. Not to mention during Sunday morning the streets around it are closed for bicycle riders for a safer experience. Even after almost 2 years of going there almost every day the park still the same... Now it's even better because they are making a lot of improvements to the park such as the water fountain painting the sidewalks and trimming the trees. So it's still a really good place to visit especially during Sundays in the morning

Teleférico Puebla is a 660-meter aerial tramway that provides stunning views of the city's parks and landmarks. It offers a new perspective on the colonial city as you are suspended high above, allowing you to see all the beauty in one go.
Great cable car ride! Definitely go, and even more so if you happen to have your kids around. (They’ll love it - just as much as you will!) The single ride is 30 pesos, the return ticket costs 50 pesos. Check out the current opening times which may change again based on COVID restrictions! Ideally, choose the return ticket, and try to make it just around sunset. In case you’d manage well, you can take the first ride when there is still some light, and the second so that you’d see Puebla at night.
René S — Google review
As a tourist from the US this was a great experience. The views from the cable car of the city and surrounding area were fantastic. And there are many other attractions in the park, well worth a visit.
Mark G — Google review
From this cabel line we had a beautiful view over Puebla and the monument. We could this cable line arrive easily by bus. It is 500m long. So its maybe a bit short but the price is still okay. On both stations is a souvenir shop. A guide comes with you and explain view.
Tobi S — Google review
You can have a great view of the City of Puebla from this cable car and its station, a bi-lingual guide (Spanish and English) will accompany you and explain the wonderful views below. I would suggest to go there a little earlier before dusk/sunset to take in the magnificent view of the city skyline and the Popocatépetl Volcano. I also would prefer to ride from the park side, going toward Calle 2 Norte, and buy just one-way ticket, as the scenery on the return ride is OK, there is really no need to buy round-trip tickets. Any how, it's a wonderful and enjoyable ride!
Zao-Wei Y — Google review
It's ok but not worth all the cumbersome process, queues, lines and wait you MUST go through before you get to ride the teleférico. 2 queues by main entrance; then you go to the 1st sitting area to wait before you get to purchase 1 way ride for 30 pesos or round trip for 50. Then you go to the 2nd sitting area to wait for the elevator to ride up the loading area. Once up and before riding you get your picture taken for purchase after the ride (expect to pay anywhere from 100 to 200 pesos depending on package you choose). If you have a round trip you will get off the teleférico and get in line to wait to ride back. So my piece of advise is to visit either on a weekday or be EXTRA patient to deal with all of the extra and long process
Anahid B — Google review
It's a short ride in a hanging wagon, accessible price, nice view. Try to visit this place in labor days, if for some reason you reach this place during the weekend it may be probably crowded, which means it will take a long time for you to take the ride. Try to avoid crowds.

Tacos Árabes Bagdad Centro is a delightful culinary gem that showcases the rich fusion of Middle Eastern and Mexican flavors. Originating from the migration of Iraqi citizens to Mexico after World War I, these tacos feature spit-roasted pork marinated in a blend of spices, including salt, pepper, oregano, and parsley. Wrapped in thick Arabic bread—similar to pita—these tacos are often garnished with fresh cilantro and onions for an extra burst of flavor.
Tacos Árabes is AWESOME. If you are visiting Puebla you definitely need to go. Not only is the food great the history of the place is as well. The árabes and the pastor tacos can't be beat. The orange salsa is crazy good.
Nick B — Google review
Quite disappointed with the tacos here. Reviews led me to believe that this was THE place for tacos árabes in the city so I was expecting a lot. The meat was not freshly cut from the spit and was not juicy, but on the dry side. It came with no condiments like onion or vegetables and the salsas were overwhelming. I'm hoping to have better luck with other places in the city...
Shreesh T — Google review
Disappointed!! Taco arabe was dry and tasteless. The chiles and onion served with it were sad looking and the cream on the side was weird. The combination just didn't make sense. Also the salsas in the bottles looked old and dirty and just made everything unappealing. Unfortunately, didn't try another Taco arabe during my stay, but this one sucked.
Lily — Google review
The food is excellent. Our server spoke really fast Spanish to us so we had a hard time communicating since our Spanish is very limited. She didn’t offer us any of the onions and cilantro (I know those words! that she offered to other tables. It’s possible our tacos don’t come with them. We ordered the Taco Arabes and supposedly the torta but I don’t think that’s what we received. Super delicious!!!
Gail T — Google review
We had to eat here because it is the original, but we actually had better Arab tacos at a nearby hole in the wall place. Great service though and good prices. Portions are huge. Salsas are good especially the peanut one.
Michael B — Google review
Tried this spot for tacos al arabes and al pastor. I did not enjoy the al arabes and found it flat and dry. Al pastor was solid. Glad I tried it but wouldn’t go back nor recommend.
B L — Google review
Once I came to learn about the Lebanese influence in Puebla, I ran directly to Tacos Árabes to taste how the authenticity of flavors started. Through some previous research, I had read to order both the tacos and meat by the pound - which was absolutely necessary in order to get the full experience. We started with the Tacos de Carne Arabe which comes on a naan bread. The meat was tender and all I did was add one of the three delicious (and spicy) sauces on it before I inhaled it. We got a kilo of Carne Arabe AND Pastor - there were four of us so we anticipated finishing this off. If we had not each had a taco already, we may have accomplished our goal. It was sad to leave a bit left, but we did stuff ourselves the best we could. I could not decide which meat I enjoyed better, they were both flavored with spices from the trompo and very tender. When you order by the kilo, it is accompanied with corn tortillas, naan bread, cilantro, onions, pineapple and limes to make your own taco. I would go back in a heartbeat!
Farzana S — Google review
Really good place to try original Tacos Arabes, price is extremely cheap and the tacos are reaaally good. I would recommend taco Bagdad with jocoque and maybe a Torta. The downside is the music and tables, that's why I gave it 4 stars.

As aesthetic details lover and nature lover — I was quite impressed! 🍃 Highly recommend to visit for kids and adults who’s inner kid is alive! 🤓☝🏻

Loved ArboTerra! Easily spent a few hours here immersed in the story. Angie was super sweet and bilingual which was an added bonus. Extra special place for me- the entire crew helped plan my proposal and did it in the most memorable way. Thank you so much!

Beautiful location and we enjoyed the birds and reptiles but this experience is definitely only for children. We went on Monday at 11am and were the only ones in the park. They have actors dressed up and pretending to be characters, they have to act for you even though we were all adults. It was quite awkward even though they did a good job.
Abby A — Google review
It's a nice place, a little overpriced but it make sense since they got so much maintenance and actors to pay. I would only wish they were a bit clearer in the ticket booth that we were getting into an interactive tour with actors that was clearly made for children. We were only adults and, as a kind of introvert person that I am, it felt a bit awkward. Kudos to the actors though, they were great !

Fun experience. We came for the birds. Didn't realize that the tour had a whole adventure theme to it. We had fun and enjoyed seeing the birds and other wildlife. The staff did a great job.

Great experience! For kids and adults of all ages, the mini show and our guided tour were amazing!

The experience was incredible, fantastic, fabulous, all the people were very nice, quite charismatic and cheerful. Thanks 💕

This was my first time there, and I loved it! It is a place to go with or without kids if you love the nature, and family adventures. You will learn and enjoy in every step of the journey.

Nestled in the heart of Puebla, Cartesiano - Boutique & Wellness Hotel is a chic and stylish retreat that opened its doors in October 2017. This 78-room boutique property, affiliated with The Leading Hotels of the World, is housed within two historic buildings – a former home and a tile factory. Each room boasts an elegant and neutral design palette, with slight variations in shape and size due to the unique spaces they occupy.
Very beautiful hotel. The rooms were scented with selected scents that we could choose ourselves. Nice pool where you can get a variety of drinks. The hotel recommended us a restaurant during our stay which was really great. They have really great costumer service.

This is a great hotel as long as you have the right expectation. I suggest that you read some of the negative reviews as well as the positive ones to get a more balanced view. The location of the hotel is both a blessing and a curse. It’s on the very edge of the historical centre, with restaurants, cafés, and craft markets right around the corner. The downside is that it’s by one of the busiest boulevards. You can hear the noises even with the windows closed. It’s quite unpleasant if you’re using the outdoor facilities such as the swimming pool or the patio in the restaurant. Saying that, the hotel is very elegantly decorated and the room I had was really nice. The service I had as some of the reviews suggested was patchy. Some excellent and some poor. I think the issue is that the management. If one thing goes wrong everything falls apart. The duty manager simply lacks the skills and experience to solve any problem. I’m still giving it a 4 star mainly based on the value for money. I’ve spent a lot more elsewhere for something much inferior.

This is such a nice hotel. We booked a larger room with a balcony and it was everything! The aesthetics are excellent and exactly what you see in the photos. Super clean and smells divine. The bathroom was huge and I appreciate the separate wash closets from the shower and sink area. Towels were super fluffy and plush and I love that they provide washcloths and a makeup removal towel. The views were pretty and the breakfast options were delicious. It definitely gives wellness vibes and I didnt know about the sound bowl healing every afternoon, disappointed we missed that. The location couldnt be more perfect. The square is a 7 min walk and across the way, we enjoyed the best steakhouse dinner. Knocked off one star because the front desk staff was aloof, at best. Just didnt seem to take much interest in anything so that was a downer. The aromatherapy choices at check/in were lovely though. All in all, if I return to Puebla, I will definitely book Cartesiano again.

We did enjoy our stay here - the rooms and facilities are top notch, the location is excellent and overall it is a really nice hotel, especially for the money (which is extremely reasonable for a hotel of this quality). However, some of the service is patchy, especially for a 5-star hotel. Examples: 1. Breakfast was a disappointment on multiple levels. What was served was not was described and was generally disappointing. For example the yoghurt and granola, which it said came with cocoa nibs and almond butter came without the former and with a weird side serving of peanut butter instead of the latter. It was also rubbish fruit - just a big bowl of papaya and apple. 2. I don’t know why the pool and poolside bar closes so early, it’s such a missed opportunity. 3. On a number of occasions they just didn’t replenish the in-room basics (eg. we kept running out of shower gel). 4. A 5-star hotel focussed on wellness which doesn’t include access to unlimited drinking water is ridiculous. You get two 300ml bottles per room per day, any extra you have to pay for. So it’s a nice place, recommended, but there are just a few annoying and simple things they could do better.

The hotel, very beautiful and clean. The rooms were clean and well decorated. Only negative, food.... Worst chilaquiles and tacos that we tried the entire trip. I wouldn't recommend the hotel to eat. Also, this may not apply to a lot of people. But hotel has many open air places, with beautiful scenery, but you're not allowed to enjoy a cigar anywhere, which it's understandable but a bummer for those who like to enjoy a nice cigar in a beautiful place. So overall, stay and amenities A+ but food F.

From our first time staying at this place 2 years ago until now, Cartesiano lacks maintenance everywhere. The spa chairs are all dirty and stained. The pool floor needs to be replaced, there are so many things that need to be kept up that make this place look worn down. The customer service is hit and miss.

The staff at this hotel are rude and not in line with what I would expect for a 5 star hotel. Our room was not ready on time, they forgot to bring a bed to our room as promised so we had to wait a while to go to sleep until they could set it up. The room they have us was noisy and faced the highway and weren’t very accommodating when we asked to switch. They don’t have showers available if you want to stay and enjoy the pool past checkout time. Food is bad in the restaurant. On the plus side, the hotel is beautiful, well located and comfortable beds.

This hotel is a perfect blend of modern luxury and welcoming comfort. Our room was a testament to thoughtful design - spacious, impeccably clean, and equipped with adequate modern technology. The large bathroom is not just a space but an experience, designed with attention to every detail. The setting of the hotel is picturesque, featuring a stunning pool area that becomes a tranquil oasis, inviting you to relax after a day exploring the city. And speaking of exploration, the hotel's location is unbeatable - a mere 5-minute walk from the heart of downtown Puebla and the vibrant artisan market. It's the perfect base for immersing yourself in the local culture and cuisine. Speaking of cuisine, the hotel's restaurant is a culinary delight. The food is not only delicious but also artistically presented, making each meal a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. What truly sets this hotel apart, though, is its staff. Each member of the team is exceptionally friendly, fluent in English and goes above and beyond to ensure your stay is nothing short of perfect. Their recommendations for local attractions and eateries were spot-on and added an authentic touch to our visit. In all honesty, even if I tried, I couldn't find a single issue with this place.
