Libraries
Biblioteca Palafoxiana is a stunning public library established in the 17th century, home to a vast collection of rare books and manuscripts dating back to the 15th century. The architecture features arched and vaulted ceilings, Baroque windows, tiered balconies, a gilded altar, and polished wooden bookcases holding ancient volumes made of vellum. This grand space evokes reverence for learning and knowledge.
Biggest museum 🌄payment for the entire building, do not forget to go to other halls of the building with one copy of the ticket.
Alice D — Google review
This library is basically just the one room but it's a beautiful room. When you leave this room, turn left because there is an exhibition that you can enter with your library ticket which shows the 20 most influential books housed in this library in honor of the 25 years the library has been a UNESCO world heritage.
Tayet4Buri — Google review
This review is after a 2nd visit to Biblioteca Palafoxiana. Since our first visit to just the library, they have added an amazing exposición to the library. Unclear if all or part of this is permanent, but i certainly hope it is permanent so many more can continue to experience this amazing museum. This collection of literary works was truly AMAZING. The added expo highlights a portion of this incredible, now antique book collection featuring very early publications of Cervantes, Copernicus, Newton and more. There is also a separate section about the man himself, Palafox. This place is a must see. If you are real into this kind of stuff, plan on 1.5 hours to tour the library and full exhibition (if its still there).
K M — Google review
Biblioteca Palafoxiana is absolutely worth a visit. The current exhibition adds a really interesting layer to the experience (note that all descriptions are in Spanish), but, the library itself is amazing — floor-to-ceiling shelves packed with very old books, some dating back centuries. You don’t need a tour but it would be helpful to explain some facts - or you can do your research beforehand. You can buy tickets when you arrive. It’s a beautiful place that makes you appreciate the history and knowledge preserved here.
Monique F — Google review
This was a beautiful place to visit. The tour itself is maybe 15 minutes. The docents were amazing. They were kind and answered all our questions. I enjoyed seeing how well they took care of the books and the building. It really demonstrates how much they appreciate their history. I would absolutely recommend to take a visit here.
Marlon C — Google review
Interesting old library with historical significance. Although it's described as the first public library in the Americas accessible to anyone who wished to study, remember that at those times there was racial segregation and only white spiniards could live in the city of Puebla.
Avi F — Google review
This library is very picturesque, but that's about it. You have to pay a fee to enter, and you cannot touch anything. You also can't go upstairs.
Heather S — Google review
Looks good from outside, didn't go in... I feel libraries should not charge to go in. Cool building.

Museo Amparo, established in 1991, is a beautifully designed museum located in two colonial buildings combined to showcase an exceptional private collection of pre-Columbian and Colonial art. The museum features over 3,500 pieces of pre-Columbian, 19th-century viceroyal, and contemporary art.
This museum has rotating exhibits, and is well worth the cost of entry. The museum café, on the top floor has truly delicious mojitos and Guava mouse (like a cheesecake). Sit outside on the terrace for an amazing view and interesting surroundings.
Michaela A — Google review
Very impressive collection on artifacts. Definitely worth a visit. The only reason I didn't give it 5 star is that none of the exhibits have any English explanation. Everything is in Spanish only. If they want to become a world class museum they have to add English.
Nas L — Google review
Very interesting collection. Nice architecture on top. Nice view over the city from museum café.
Patrick G — Google review
A must visit if you’re in Puebla. The museum houses a great collection of art from pre-colonial to contemporary, all well-curated and sympathetically presented. On the top floor there was a cafe. I took some amazing photos here.

Free entry on Sundays. Terrace/ rooftop cafe is always free to go up. It's one of my favourite museums in Mexico so far! I always had hard time understanding the art and history of Mexico because I never learned its history. Museo Amparo explains from terminology of historic era to details of culture, people, agriculture, art and so on in easy and simple ways! (Mostly in Spanish, I used google translator). I learned so much today. The staff there are 10/10 too. Very professional and friendly. They offer a clay making class for free, there's schedule for it. I enjoyed contemporary art sections as well. Terrace area is good for afternoon coffee or study. It's a must visit if you're in Puebla.

Beautiful museum. When I came, it was featuring alot of historic Mexican arts. Lots of different formats and art styles from paintings, sculptures, to video as well. Also some beautiful rest spaces here. Overall, really nice.
Leonard — Google review
Creepy!! If you can get past the workers, this could be an amazing experience. Unfortunately, the people who work there are just creepy, unsettling, even disgusting. They follow you around, staring at you, completely ruining the experience and making it hard to enjoy or appreciate the art. Signage is either confusing or nonexistent, and the staff constantly direct you and hover over you, making everything more uncomfortable. What should have been an inspiring visit turned into a terrible, distracting mess. It was extremely uncomfortable. They seem to get people liquored up in the café, and those guests add to the chaos. One woman, clearly drunk, walked right in front of us and started texting on her phone, completely blocking our view. Meanwhile, the guards chose to follow a father and his daughter, us, who were simply trying to enjoy the art, as if we were criminals. They don’t intervene when people are actually being disruptive, and they ignore kids making out in corners of the museum. If you can get past the creepy staff, most of whom weren’t friendly or welcoming, the space itself is extremely well curated. Art and exhibits are spread throughout the museum, and many were genuinely captivating. We saw one Diego Rivera piece. Some of the modern art was, as expected, out there, not all of it great, but there was a decent amount of English-language information available, which helped. This could have been an amazing visit, but discussing it afterward, we all agreed: the behavior of the staff destroyed it. One guy in particular stood out, clearly a frustrated police academy dropout. He followed us into a small room with one chair and a film playing, then stood in front of us and stared the entire time. Then he followed us into the next room and continued staring. I even took a photo of him. This guy needs to find another job. If you’re hoping to take part in one of their art classes, be aware you have to sign up at the ticket booth, not that it’s clearly explained anywhere. I would love to recommend this place for the art and architecture, but I can’t. Any enjoyment is going to be destroyed by the creepy, overbearing staff. Go somewhere people actually want you to be, where you’re appreciated as a guest. You won’t find that here. Unless you’re willing to endure a very uncomfortable experience just to see some interesting exhibits, you’re better off going elsewhere. The day we went we were not charged because they had a special exhibit. The best part about coming here is it is down the street from an amazing churro shop. Two blocks up the street when you walk out to the right!

The Parian Market, also known as the Antigua Plaza de San Roque, is a bustling marketplace located in the historic center of Puebla. With 112 stands offering a wide variety of traditional clothing, pottery, jewelry, and other local wares, it's the largest handicrafts market in the city. Visitors can explore an array of authentic Mexican snacks and immerse themselves in Puebla's traditional craftsmanship by browsing through stalls selling Talavera pottery.
Little street lined with shops on either side. The vendors are friendly and not in your face like some other touristy areas. They sell all kinds of souvenirs from little magnets and toys to Puebla made dishware and pottery. Nice place for some shopping.
Devin L — Google review
This was a great place to buy souvenirs. I was able to find postcards, trinkets, pottery, etc. I was with a group of 5 and my friends bought ponchos, wraps, vases, jewelry, beautiful rosaries, etc. there was something for everyone. For those who are there with shoppers but are not shoppers themselves, there were plenty of benches to sit on throughout the area, plenty of places to get snacks, and bathrooms available to use for a few pesos.
Marlon C — Google review
If you are looking for a place to find some traditional Mexican trinkets-gifts, this is your area to look. They are open 7 days a week for a significant number of hours (check your Google listing for up to date times... and days ... JIC). This market is located northeast of the zocalo , just a few blocks north of Los Sapos. At times too you can find similar types of merchants in - near the Los Sapos area (not in the Pariian Market) selling similar items. Some , but maybe not all, merchants might be somewhat flexible and willing to haggle a bit on prices. Generally, proprietors are friendly, helpful, and interested in working with you to make the sale :-)

It's very colorful and attention drawing with colorful flags and a large sun mural painted on the ground. There are lots of stalls with a variety of items for sale. It's a great spot to buy souvenirs.
Heather S — Google review
A place with many shops, lots of handicrafts and Mexican souvenirs; many people visit the area. Good prices and friendly people.
Nelson M — Google review
This is a very pleasant place to spend a few hours. A lot of the little shops are just selling the standard trinkets. I even found one that was selling the sweater I was wearing that I bought in Quito, Ecuador. But I also found some very unique shops like the Talavera shop that's sells talavera from their fabrica. And if you stroll on down to the artist part, there are some really interesting paintings. Then, of course, there's the Mole Poblano to sample ... and buy to take home.

Zoo
Africam Safari is a wildlife conservation zoo in Puebla, Mexico, spanning 500 acres of diverse habitats. Founded by Carlos Camacho Espiritu in the 1970s, it houses over 450 animal species from around the world. Visitors can drive through open-air enclosures or join guided tours to see elephants, giraffes, rhinos, tigers, and more. The park offers educational experiences like tracking animals and picnicking with giraffes.
We had two cars in our party. Our family enjoyed every moment of this experience. We went on a Sunday. This park is so well thought out, it was very impressive. It did take us about 5 hours to get through but felt like it took 3 hours. You first go through the safari portion where the animals are running free in their own habitat. There are stops along the way for clean bathrooms, food, and places to get out of the car and stretch your legs. There are 3 stops along this adventure. The last stop is more of a traditional zoo. All the animals here were well taken care of which was so good to see. Highly recommend for good family fun!
Angie G — Google review
All the family loved this place! So cool how close you can get to the animals 😂 so many nice places to take pics. And the restrooms are very clean. Lots of different places to eat. Highly recommend if you are visiting puebla with the kids!!
Myra G — Google review
I was impressed! My first Safari in life! It was amazing to see different animals so close 🐘 Such a beautiful family experience! Highly recommend 🌟 The only problem can be lots of visitors, so 🚗 cars drive very slowly and under the sun 🌞 it can be a tricky time with kids in a car! So I would choose time to enter wisely. Maybe not weekends if you have opportunity! Area with Lions is just Breathtaking! 🧡🦁
Anastasia — Google review
A super cool drive thru zoo. After you drive thru all the way, there is a walking experience where u get to see even more animals and insects. Such a cool experience for the kids. The animals looked very healthy and well taken care of. Such a delightful place, will come back!
Alex — Google review
Amazing, better than expected. The animals seem to be better treated that in most zoos and this haves a nice concept that makes it different than a normal zoo. Loved the Cows with gigantic horns

Zócalo de Puebla is a lively public square at the heart of the city, offering a vibrant atmosphere with its fountain, benches, and surrounding eateries and shops. It's a popular spot for people-watching, from students in academic gowns celebrating graduations to families enjoying leisurely strolls. The square is surrounded by historical buildings and green spaces, making it an ideal starting point for exploring the city.
The Zócalo de Puebla is a must-visit destination. It's a magical place with friendly people. It can get crowded on Sundays and during holidays, but we stayed in an Airbnb right in front of the Zócalo, which was amazing. Every morning, we enjoyed seeing the Zócalo transform into something different. There are also many bus tours available from this location, and everything is easily walkable.

The Zócalo in Puebla is truly the heart of the city and a must-visit destination for anyone exploring this vibrant colonial city. As one of Mexico’s most beautiful and historic plazas, it offers a perfect blend of history, culture, and lively atmosphere. The square is surrounded by stunning colonial architecture, with colorful buildings and ornate facades that reflect Puebla’s rich heritage. The cathedral, with its impressive baroque design, dominates the skyline and adds to the majestic ambiance of the plaza. At night, the area transforms with beautifully lit buildings, creating a romantic and picturesque setting. The surrounding streets are lined with shops, markets, and restaurants offering delicious local cuisine, including Puebla’s famous mole poblano. Nestled within the historic Templo de Santo Domingo, the Capilla del Rosario is a stunning 17th-century chapel that captivates visitors with its opulent interior adorned in 24k gold stucco. Often referred to as The Golden House, this exquisite space showcases intricate details crafted from Talavera and onyx, creating an atmosphere of sheer elegance.
Even for the most jaded church visitor, this magnificent church and chapel is a marvel. Many of the shrines and chapels are lined with gorgeous, brilliant-blue talaveras. The main altarpiece is a Baroque wonder. However, the highlight is the main chapel, which is a vision of gilded Baroque magnificence.
Raymond L — Google review
There are churches, and then there are sanctuaries that glimmer — this is one of them. Hay iglesias, y luego hay santuarios que resplandecen — este es uno de esos. I always carry my faith with me wherever I travel, and La Capilla del Rosario in Puebla felt like coming home to reverence. This golden chapel is hidden within the Templo de Santo Domingo, yet once you step inside, the light, the gold, the art — it commands your full attention and your deepest prayer. Built between 1650 and 1690, it was the first chapel in Mexico dedicated exclusively to Our Lady of the Rosary. Because of its stunning gilded interior, the chapel has long been spoken of as the “Casa Dorada” — often called Puebla’s Eighth Wonder of the World. Every wall, every arch, every dome is adorned with gold leaf reliefs, cherubs, angels, vegetal motifs, aquatic imagery (fish, shells, waves) — a design that seems to whisper of sea and spirit. Below the paintings depicting the life of Mary, you’ll see Talavera tilework — each tile a bead in a giant rosary, framed by angels’ heads. At the heart of the chapel stands a statue of the Virgin of the Rosary, sheltered under a golden baldachin (ciprés), with Saint Dominic and Archangel Gabriel above — a vertical direction of prayer, faith, and intercession. Tradition holds that the Virgin of the Rosary also holds a special place in the hearts of mariners — the protector of those at sea. She is prayed to for guidance and safe passage over water — a fitting devotion in this chapel that evokes ocean motifs and divine presence. If you visit Puebla, don’t rush past this gem. Find a quiet moment inside, let the gold light wash over you, and whisper your prayers. It’s not only a monument of art; it’s a place where faith, history, and divine mystery meet. Hay iglesias, y luego hay santuarios que resplandecen — este es uno de esos. Michelle

Free admission to enter the church. It looks beautiful from the outside and must be from the inside. It is located quite central and easy to find by walking. Entrance accessible for wheelchairs.

A sumptuous chapel located inside the Church of Santo Domingo. You may pay 20 pesos for entry and its money well spent. There is always a line to see the pace because they are only allowing so many people at a time. Tee church is nice but the chapel is over the top, colonial baroque, with gold everywhere. Most impressive.

Magnificent, a must see, I'm no expert but its interior is so ornate it seems as much rococo as baroque. Either way, wow it is gorgeous.

This is an absolutely beautiful cathedral. It's free to visit and is fascinating inside and out. The twin bell towers and fine are fantastic architectural structures. But the design of the inside is fascinating. Near the main entrance it splits into two aisles with the organ in between, a big organ. Beyond that is the high altar with columns are statuary. But be sure to keep walking beyond the high altar. At the far end from the main doors is the resplendent Altar of the Kings.

Wheelchair accessible entrance/exit, but no restrooms here. FREE. Absolutely beautiful cathedral in Puebla. It's one of my favorites! It is one of the first temples of the Americas. The inside is covered in gold, so it is a beautiful site to see, welcome to all people. No flash photos or flash videos allowed. It is open on rainy days and shine! It has beautiful paintings and art on the walls, too. It is located in the town center and surrounded by many shops and restaurants.

The Museo Internacional del Barroco, situated in Puebla, Mexico, is a modern architectural marvel designed by the renowned architect Toyo Ito. The museum's striking features include its curled white concrete walls and a water-filled courtyard. It houses an extensive collection of Baroque art, including paintings, sculptures, and murals from various countries.
Beautifully curated and very large museum with a mix of classic baroque art and more modern baroque-inspired pieces. Can easily spend 2 hours or more here. Great outdoor space within the museum as well as nice public park surrounding the museum. Highly recommend that you come see this— one of my favorite museums in Puebla!
Basia P — Google review
This museum was amazing, architecturally. The exhibits were ok but I did appreciate the many video installations they had. What was quite bothersome was that the flow within the museum was not clear to anyone and the guards had to keep telling everyone “not that way”, “this way please”, or “that’s an emergency door, please don’t open it”. Also, I really enjoy drawing when in museums. Unfortunately, I was told I couldn’t bring my notebook in. I understand bags not being allowed. But not allowing a lone notebook was a surprise. All in all absolutely worth going on free Sundays to see the magnificent architecture and adjacent park.

The museum is great and I would not miss it if you have the time. Staff is anything but friendly. They are not there to guide or help but to scold you constantly. Be aware there are not guides on weekends and they seem Bothered when we ask because we did not know

I absolutely loved this museum. If you’re visiting Puebla it is a must see, particularly given one of the exhibitions explains beautifully how the city was built and the architectural baroque influences on the building in the centre of town.

Discover the stunning Museo Internacional del Barroco in Puebla, a masterpiece of contemporary architecture celebrating the elegance of Baroque art. This world-class museum blends dramatic design with immersive storytelling across its permanent collections. Currently, don’t miss the captivating Salvador Dalí exhibition, showcasing surreal works that reveal the genius of his imagination. A must-see experience that bridges centuries of artistic brilliance in one unforgettable visit.

The museum is architecturally world class. Its site includes a large park and the building is surrounded by ponds, which are lovely. I would say the collection is modest, but the presentations are enhanced by multiple screen projections.

The Great Pyramid of Cholula, also known as Tlachihualtepetl, is an ancient structure dating back to the 3rd century BC. It is considered the largest pyramid ever built, surpassing even the Great Pyramid of Giza. Abandoned in the 8th century AD and covered by earth, it was rediscovered when the Spanish arrived in the 1500s.
The site was nice. Spent maybe 30 minutes walking around and reading all the signs. The signs are in Spanish and English. Not the most impressive ruins and you can only climb the stairs near the exit, but I still enjoyed it. Tunnels were closed. 100 pesos entry. Visit the church at the top of the hill first, and then take the side path to the ruins
Maddi P — Google review
It was a great experience, unfortunately the tunnels are now closed to the public. But the museum as well as the visit to the Patio de la acústica with all the exposed excavations are well worth the visit.
L. C — Google review
The access tunnel leading underneath the temples was closed. Nobody knows if they will ever reopen. Still the visit yo the world's largest temple still amazes. A must-see and visit. There is an on site musem and another near entrance to the ruins. Recommend both.
Mark V — Google review
Big pre-Columbian pyramid (of which you don't see much, looks like a hill) with a yellow church on top, all of them free of charge. The view was nice but would have been amazing is it wasn't for the smog hanging around everywhere.
Simon C — Google review
Very disappointing. Tunnels have been closed since covid apparently. You climb the pyramid just to find another church on top. The best thing about it is the view from the top. The ruins themselves are not worth paying admission to. You can see them as you are walking down the pyramid. You can go stand in a big field with no shade and pay admission but I think it's a waste of money. We took the bus from Puebla which was 10 pesos. Cholula is worth a visit for a few hours but that's about it.
Cooliepops — Google review
Interesting to compare to other sites, like Mont Alban. Not as impressive, but interesting. Worth visiting for context.
Gulli H — Google review
Gorgeous, short steep climb. Incredible view. It's unfortunate that a cathedral spoils this historic monument, and the usual hawkers selling religious baubles are everywhere, but the Pyramid and the nearby ruins are spectacular.

Estrella de Puebla is a massive observation wheel located in a linear park, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city's landmarks. Puebla itself is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, showcasing its rich cultural and historical significance through its well-preserved colonial architecture and cobblestone streets. The attraction stands as a symbol of modernity within this historic setting, providing visitors with privileged views of the surrounding area.
We were worried about standing in line, but all went well. There was literally no one waiting. We got a VIP for the four of us, and it was worth it. You get a private cabin with leather seats and honestly, the views are amazing! Worth the trip. FYI: if you have a car, park it in the mall across the street.
Inj — Google review
Easy entry, nice view. There was a „radio“ in the capsule and the content was a bit annoying because it was just advertising. Some information about Puebla would have been nicer.
Louisa K — Google review
It seems new and very well maintained. . it is a very large Ferris wheel .. if I remember right it was 80 pesos a person they had some deluxe style seats for like vip people that were like 800 for 6 people . There was absolutely no one else on it when we went so there was no line and no waiting .. pretty good view .. it goes very very slow takes probably 10 or 15 minutes to go around .. you can see the majority of the city from the top .. I would pay to ride it again for sure.. I don't normally give 5 stars I am fairly conservative with them but this was worth 5 stars I think..
Jedi E — Google review
Amazing views! VIP basket has a glass bottom and very comfortable seats. View from the top is amazing, if you can try to catch the sunset! Totally worth visiting!
David C — Google review
The view is good. But we went when all the cars were empty and yet they crammed everyone into one cabin... just so they can sell their vip tickets. I can understand this policy during busy times, but not when the wheel is empty. The seller didn't explain this policy when I was in the ticket booth.

The story of the Alley of the Frogs goes like this: there was a river nearby where the frogs used to gather in this alley, especially when it flooded. I’ve heard a few different tales about this place. It’s a cool spot to walk around and browse for old relics, but nothing too special stands out.

The museum also features beautiful examples of Talavera pottery and intricately carved human skulls and seashells. Additionally, it offers a unique blend of ancient Egyptian artifacts alongside Mexican relics.
I tried the enchilada plate with three sauces. Americana these are traditional enchiladas. A folded corn tortilla with meat and then the sauce. If you are adventurous give it a try! The museo (museum) upstairs is full of artifacts found when the building was restored. It was beautifully assembled.

I had a fantastic experience in this museum! Everyone should go! It’s above the restaurant so you walk up the steps. I didn’t know what I would see in the museum as I was not dining in the restaurant and opted to take my own tour at first. However, Manuel gave me a fantastic, throrough, & fun experience detailing everyday Poblano life and the skulls of Prehispanic lords. It’s so worth paying 50 pesos to get the guided tour, and if you come on a Wednesday they let you in for free. The souvenuirs are cool too. I got a book about the excavation. Everyone is super friendly! This is a must see location for all the fantastic history native to that building and architecture alone. If you want something unique to Puebla don’t miss this!!

The museum is an odd hybrid of copies of ancient Egyptian artifacts and brief descriptions and ancient Mexican artifacts..But, downstairs is an elegant, ambient restaurant with fantastic food and excellent service at a surprisingly reasonable cost. We loved it so much, we made reservations for the following night. It's sublime.

It’s a very nice place to visit and probably dine. The best part was that restaurant manager at the end came to get feedback, which is a super good sign for any organization. As I said the ambiance and decorations are good with special taste but here are some point for improvement 1- we were there for dinner and there was a live music in place. Museo Casa de Alfeñique is a historical museum located in an 18th-century colonial mansion in Puebla, Mexico. The house was originally built by Ignacio Morales, a wealthy ironworker, and features elaborate stucco-work resembling the famous sweet sugar candies called 'alfeniques'. The museum has been completely restored and now houses exhibits depicting the history of Puebla as well as regional art, commerce, and industry.
Beautiful exterior that resembles a candy house, and an exhibition with lots of history about Mexican independence and customs as well as an upper floor with pieces from the original house.

Originally, the museum was the home of some wealthy family. Today it's a museum with displays on regional history and art. Unfortunately, the displays have no English explanations, so if you're not fluent in Spanish, you won't get much out of your visit. It's too bad about this because Puebla is such an amazing city with such a rich history. Architecturally, though, the museum is stunningly beautiful. So even if you don't enter, check out its exterior. If you're a student or teacher, you get half price (from 40 pesos to 20 pesos).

The Museo Regional de la Revolución Mexicana is a historical home that played an important role in the Mexican Revolution. It contains exhibits on the history of the revolution, including photographs and weapons.
This was my second time visiting this museum and it’s my absolute favorite. It is ra key piece of Mexican history. This is where the Mexican revolution started with Serdán Family. It had been renovated and more exhibits had been added since I went 10 years ago. The house is in immaculate condition and still has the bullet holes in the wall and the destroyed furniture from the battle. They have added more signs in Spanish and English (which although not necessary was a pleasant surprise). The staff is very polite and helpful and the explanations in each room really give you feel for how the family lived and how the events of the Mexican Revolution transpired. This is a must see if you visit Puebla City
Kelsey L — Google review

Excellent museum and displays. More extensive than we thought it would be. Display descriptions are in both Spanish and English. Rooms in chronological order tell the fascinating story of the beginnings of the Mexican Revolution. Don't skip this museum!
Drake M — Google review
The Museo Regional de la Revolución Mexicana Casa de los Hermanos Serdán in Puebla is a fascinating historical site that immerses visitors in the story of Mexico’s Revolution. The house, once home to the Serdán family, preserves its revolutionary legacy with bullet-riddled walls and exhibits showcasing artifacts, photographs, and personal belongings. The museum captures the bravery of the Serdán family, who played a key role in sparking the uprising against Porfirio Díaz. Its well-preserved rooms and engaging displays transport visitors back to the early 20th century, offering a vivid glimpse into Mexico’s fight for justice and freedom.
Izzy H — Google review
If you love history and museums, this is a great place to visit. Located in Puebla's El Centro, just northeast of the zocalo, this museum offers a great documentary of one of the uprising events giving birth to the Mexican Revolution. In fact, it is in itself "self documenting" as this is the actual location where the events took place. Here, documented, are the details of the Serdán brothers and their spouses, as they planned their revolutionary uprising. The historical chronicle ends with a broader summary of the Mexican Revolution. It's near, too, Calle de los Dulces. So afterward, pop over and treat yourself to something sweet!
K M — Google review
Very interesting views of the beginning of the Mexican Revolution. Many historical photos and documents on display. Beautifully restored furnishings. Some informational plaques in english as well as spanish language.
Renew2553 — Google review
The house where the Mexican revolution broke out. The house was the home of the Serdan brothers - I feel the house and its decoration may have changed a lot since the Serdan's lived there - it is more like a monument than a time capsule from 1910. If you are not Mexican, you may not have heard of los hermanos Serdan - but they played an important role and are famous in Puebla. Apart from this museum there is also a tall column and statues of the brothers erected just north of La Paz - on 'Boulevard Hermanos Serdan'. 40 pesos to enter the museum.
Jesper O — Google review
Great museum in the very house where the history happened. You can see the bullet holes in the exterior. Inside you pay 48 pesos per person. Then you get to walk through the house and learn about the events that took place here, two days before the Mexican Revolution began. (This is really a precursor battle and story about the revolution itself.) In addition to the history of the Serdàn family, there is more about the events leading up to the revolution and the early years of it, through the end of the Madero presidency. It also includes some rooms that show what life in the house was like in 1910.

Fantastic experience! A very interesting and fairly big museum of regions art. Juan Pablo, our guide was the most wonderful, enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide one could hope for. The museum of religious art former convent of Santa Monica is the most complete vestige of the Baroque architecture of Puebla. Being a 17th-century building, the museum has a unique collection of its genre, which is made up of religious objects and paintings. In its twelve rooms the daily life of the Augustinian nuns is exposed, their profession, their rules and even the crypts where the remains of some of their oldest members are found, since the nuns were of cloister and could not leave the institution until his death.

The Fundación José Luis Bello y Zetina y Museo is a beautiful museum with a baroque facade that houses many antique paintings, porcelain, and furniture. The museum is open to the public for free, and it is interesting to learn about the history of the house and its owner.
Breath-taking paintings, furniture & memorabilia of the Zello y Zetina family in their home. Paintings, prints are from Spain, Italy, England, & a few Flemish ones as well. Most of the furniture was made in Puebla. Most of the pieces were from the 17th-19th century, & a spattering of more recent pieces. Unforgettable furniture & art work. Look for the large, ornately carved jewelry box ("Bargueno Espanol" from the 17th century). There are two ink drawings of the Biblioteca Palafoxiana, drawn at each end.--You'll be able to see how the library was used back then. Everything is in top condition & well preserved. A lady accompanies you as you tour, & she is able to answer questions. A *must visit* in Historico Centro de Puebla. Entrance is even free! This church is beautiful and has great significance! The most amazing thing about this church, to me, is that it holds the remains of Caterina de San Juan, "China Poblana." She was a woman who came from China and loved Mexican culture and people so much that she became Mexican, dressed in beautiful Mexican clothes, and all the dolls around Mexico are based off her! How incredible that her body is here!!!! Another thing that makes this church unique is that it has two towers and three front entrances....this used to be something only Cathedrals had, but this church has it. Visited the planetarium while exploring Puebla. Very reasonable ticket prices. The exhibits address space exploration and astronomy. The IMAX film is fun. Not being a native Spanish speaker, I had some confusion about how to enter the auditorium, but I followed the crowd and it worked out.

(Translated by Google) One of the photo assistants at the entrance got upset because I didn't want to take my picture. She gave me a dirty look even though I didn't sign or accept any privacy notice for the use of my information and/or photos. In the end, they sell it as an optional extra for between 200 and 350 pesos, depending on the format you choose. They should respect that and ask. Most of the guides are friendly and happy to explain things, while others don't do anything. The museum is a bit small, but it's fine for kids so they don't get tired. The bathroom cleaner was also a bit rude. The $80 general admission includes the screening. I liked it, although some parts were out of focus on the projector and it looked blurry.

Ex Convento de Santa Rosa, also known as Museo de Arte Popular Ex Convento de Santa Rosa, is a historical and cultural gem located in a former convent that dates back to 1739. This site has undergone various transformations over the years, serving as a psychiatric hospital before being repurposed into a cultural center in 1973.
Great museum. We were only able to tour the museum with a guide. Luis was our guide and he was fantastic. The kitchen is amazing but there are many more interesting exhibits. Highly recommended. Free entry on Sundays

Very extensive museum with various forms of local art spanning all the centuries. Our guide was Beatriz and she was a delight! All of the posted explanations of the exhibits are in Spanish. Plan to spend at least an hour here.

Beautiful museum with included tour with very knowledgeable tour guide. Great mix of information about the old convent and history of Puebla culture. Highly recommend!

Unassuming museum with an even less intriguing name but dont let that fool you. Its FULL of information and relics about Puebla and Mexican culture. A must see for anyone in the area. But you need to know some Spanish
Dimitris T — Google review
We just had Aldo give us a guided tour in English. We learned so much about the blending of the different cultures here in Puebla. The museum offers so many different exhibits - the nunnery, textiles, pottery, glass, etc. And to cap it off is the beautiful kitch. Do put this on your list of to do's here in Puebla.

Great museum where you can tour the beautiful kitchen where mole poblano was created. We were only allowed to tour the museum with a guide, which was completely free and full of interesting information (only in Spanish). Our guides name was Oscar and he was super knowledgeable and funny. Along with the kitchen, there are two floors of exhibits ranging from artesanias, traditional dance costumes, masks, and religious imagery all from the state of Puebla. Highly recommend this museum. Oh, and the best part is that it’s free unless you want to tip the awesome guide.

The birthplace of Mole Poblano! The museum was incredible and we had a great tour in Spanish. Not to be missed if you are in Puebla. Informative and extensive collection of handcrafts.

Really nice place to go. The kitchen is a fantastic example of how talavera is an amazing material to use and simply beautiful. The patio is also quite nice. While not in Puebla's center, it is in walking distance for sure. It is going to be a quick visit but worth it. I'm happy to see that each year more area of the museum is restored and accesible to the public.

Teatro Principal is a stunning gem nestled in the heart of Puebla, showcasing the city's rich cultural heritage. This 18th-century theater stands as a testament to exquisite antique architecture, making it one of Latin America's most beautiful venues. Visitors can immerse themselves in a variety of performances, from popular Mexican plays to concerts that resonate with history and artistry. The ambiance is always vibrant, reflecting its significance as a historical landmark and gathering place for locals and tourists alike.
Wonderful theatre close to the artist quarters. I attended a free broadway musical with 12 broadway numbers, an amazing 3 piece jazz band between numbers, and an amazing dance crew and it was free of charge. This was an unbelievable experience. The theatre is super clean and the crowd vell well behaved. I am going to another theatrical play this Sat.

The Regional Museum of Puebla is a captivating destination that offers visitors an insightful glimpse into the rich tapestry of the region's history. Nestled within the historic 5th of May Civic Unit, this museum not only highlights colonial narratives but also honors the indigenous cultures that thrived long before European contact. Its modernist architecture stands out against Puebla’s traditional backdrop, making it a unique landmark in itself.
Excellent quality exhibits taking you from pre-classical times to present day times. You gain an overview of life in this region of Puebla and a deeper appreciation for the area as well.

One of my favorite museums of Puebla! It's small but it contains the necessary elements to learn and understand the history of Puebla. There are also very important pieces of history here that you won't find elsewhere. It's location is also perfect since it's surrounded by other cultural areas, like the forts and the planetarium. Go visit, what are you waiting for!

Nestled in the heart of Puebla, Cartesiano - Boutique & Wellness Hotel is a chic and stylish retreat that opened its doors in October 2017. This 78-room boutique property, affiliated with The Leading Hotels of the World, is housed within two historic buildings – a former home and a tile factory. Each room boasts an elegant and neutral design palette, with slight variations in shape and size due to the unique spaces they occupy.
Very beautiful hotel. The rooms were scented with selected scents that we could choose ourselves. Nice pool where you can get a variety of drinks. The hotel recommended us a restaurant during our stay which was really great. They have really great costumer service.
Renske H — Google review
This is a great hotel as long as you have the right expectation. I suggest that you read some of the negative reviews as well as the positive ones to get a more balanced view. The location of the hotel is both a blessing and a curse. It’s on the very edge of the historical centre, with restaurants, cafés, and craft markets right around the corner. The downside is that it’s by one of the busiest boulevards. You can hear the noises even with the windows closed. It’s quite unpleasant if you’re using the outdoor facilities such as the swimming pool or the patio in the restaurant. Saying that, the hotel is very elegantly decorated and the room I had was really nice. The service I had as some of the reviews suggested was patchy. Some excellent and some poor. I think the issue is that the management. If one thing goes wrong everything falls apart. The duty manager simply lacks the skills and experience to solve any problem. I’m still giving it a 4 star mainly based on the value for money. I’ve spent a lot more elsewhere for something much inferior.
G C — Google review
This is such a nice hotel. We booked a larger room with a balcony and it was everything! The aesthetics are excellent and exactly what you see in the photos. Super clean and smells divine. The bathroom was huge and I appreciate the separate wash closets from the shower and sink area. Towels were super fluffy and plush and I love that they provide washcloths and a makeup removal towel. The views were pretty and the breakfast options were delicious. It definitely gives wellness vibes and I didnt know about the sound bowl healing every afternoon, disappointed we missed that. The location couldnt be more perfect. The square is a 7 min walk and across the way, we enjoyed the best steakhouse dinner. Knocked off one star because the front desk staff was aloof, at best. Just didnt seem to take much interest in anything so that was a downer. The aromatherapy choices at check/in were lovely though. All in all, if I return to Puebla, I will definitely book Cartesiano again.
Dani F — Google review
We did enjoy our stay here - the rooms and facilities are top notch, the location is excellent and overall it is a really nice hotel, especially for the money (which is extremely reasonable for a hotel of this quality). However, some of the service is patchy, especially for a 5-star hotel. Examples: 1. Breakfast was a disappointment on multiple levels. What was served was not was described and was generally disappointing. For example the yoghurt and granola, which it said came with cocoa nibs and almond butter came without the former and with a weird side serving of peanut butter instead of the latter. It was also rubbish fruit - just a big bowl of papaya and apple. 2. I don’t know why the pool and poolside bar closes so early, it’s such a missed opportunity. 3. On a number of occasions they just didn’t replenish the in-room basics (eg. we kept running out of shower gel). 4. A 5-star hotel focussed on wellness which doesn’t include access to unlimited drinking water is ridiculous. You get two 300ml bottles per room per day, any extra you have to pay for. So it’s a nice place, recommended, but there are just a few annoying and simple things they could do better.
James H — Google review
The hotel, very beautiful and clean. The rooms were clean and well decorated. Only negative, food.... Worst chilaquiles and tacos that we tried the entire trip. I wouldn't recommend the hotel to eat. Also, this may not apply to a lot of people. But hotel has many open air places, with beautiful scenery, but you're not allowed to enjoy a cigar anywhere, which it's understandable but a bummer for those who like to enjoy a nice cigar in a beautiful place. So overall, stay and amenities A+ but food F.
D P — Google review
From our first time staying at this place 2 years ago until now, Cartesiano lacks maintenance everywhere. The spa chairs are all dirty and stained. The pool floor needs to be replaced, there are so many things that need to be kept up that make this place look worn down. The customer service is hit and miss.
Kathy H — Google review
The staff at this hotel are rude and not in line with what I would expect for a 5 star hotel. Our room was not ready on time, they forgot to bring a bed to our room as promised so we had to wait a while to go to sleep until they could set it up. The room they have us was noisy and faced the highway and weren’t very accommodating when we asked to switch. They don’t have showers available if you want to stay and enjoy the pool past checkout time. Food is bad in the restaurant. On the plus side, the hotel is beautiful, well located and comfortable beds.
Lucia V — Google review
This hotel is a perfect blend of modern luxury and welcoming comfort. Our room was a testament to thoughtful design - spacious, impeccably clean, and equipped with adequate modern technology. The large bathroom is not just a space but an experience, designed with attention to every detail. The setting of the hotel is picturesque, featuring a stunning pool area that becomes a tranquil oasis, inviting you to relax after a day exploring the city. And speaking of exploration, the hotel's location is unbeatable - a mere 5-minute walk from the heart of downtown Puebla and the vibrant artisan market. It's the perfect base for immersing yourself in the local culture and cuisine. Speaking of cuisine, the hotel's restaurant is a culinary delight. The food is not only delicious but also artistically presented, making each meal a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. What truly sets this hotel apart, though, is its staff. Each member of the team is exceptionally friendly, fluent in English and goes above and beyond to ensure your stay is nothing short of perfect. Their recommendations for local attractions and eateries were spot-on and added an authentic touch to our visit. In all honesty, even if I tried, I couldn't find a single issue with this place.

The Temple of Our Lady of Guadalupe is a stunning baroque church from the 17th and 18th centuries, dedicated to the Virgin of Guadalupe. Its exterior is adorned with a mix of red brick, Puebla talavera tiles, and intricate "alfenique" style plaster work on the towers. The interior features elegant mortar decorations depicting angels and plant motifs in a somewhat sober setting.
