Salt House is a stylish waterfront restaurant located in Cairns, offering a modern Australian menu with a focus on seafood and grilled dishes. Situated in a prime Marina location, it is within walking distance from most esplanade and city hotels. Guests can enjoy sunset cocktails overlooking Trinity Inlet from day beds or opt for a table to savor an array of seafood options or meats cooked on their Argentinian grill.
Salt house was in a great location. Smart and sophisticated. The service was exceptional and the food delish. We loved the entrees mushroom tart, olives that were so juicy, watermelon salad ( divine). The vegan paella was very generous. The fish my son had was delish. Thanks so much Salt house xx

Nice seafront view. Well-spaced seatings. Seafood are fresh and food is well-seasoned. Nice variety of options in the menu. Service can be better. I ordered coffee after my meal and the staff seems to have forgotten so I had to remind them. Coffee was not good, better get somewhere else.
Mel R — Google review
The food was delicious; you can tell they use top-quality ingredients. The ceviche was amazing and the wagyu skewers were really good. However, the sashimi and the beef tataki seemed a bit overcooked to me. The king prawns were flavourless and ultra hot. My overall opinion is that they put a lot of effort into making everything so ostentatious, when I strongly believe sometimes less is more. Not to mention the high prices considering the tiny portions. Service was really good, it just seemed a bit strange they don't leave the wine bottle and water bottle at the table.

Salt House was the perfect ending to our holiday in Cairns and an amazing spot to celebrate my partner’s birthday. The atmosphere is just beautiful — relaxed yet refined, with the perfect vibe for a special evening. Our server, Marcus, was exceptional — friendly, attentive, and made us feel truly looked after. The food was incredible from start to finish. We started with the ceviche and beef skewers — both bursting with flavour — and then shared the 1.0 kg steak cooked perfectly to medium (exactly how we like it!). Every bite was spot on. Unfortunately, we had to leave earlier than planned and missed out on dessert, which we were really sad about — but that just gives us a reason to come back! Overall, Salt House exceeded our expectations. The pricing felt fair for a fine dining restaurant of this quality. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Cairns — especially for a special occasion.
Monica M — Google review
We had a wonderful experience at Salt House Cairns. The place is absolutely beautiful, with stunning spaces and an amazing atmosphere. The service was excellent — the staff were so kind and attentive. They were our partners in making my partner’s birthday celebration truly special. We loved the food — every dish was delicious — and the recommendations from our server were spot on. It was such a beautiful and memorable dinner. Highly recommended!

We spent an afternoon lounging here, and then had dinner. There is loads of space and we found a comfortable spot to drink cocktails, read a book, talk, look at people. We really enjoyed the big seafood platter. In the past we've found these can have too much fried food, but this was a good mixture of warm and cold and different cooking methods. Good wines as well. Staff all friendly.
Koen A — Google review
We met up with friends who are locals here. We got a very nice sunset view when we arrived. It seem pretty busy but we had a reservation so we got seated right away. This place is big! I like the vibes. It’s modern, fun and on the water. We were sure what to order so we ordered seven appetizers for four of us to share. It was the right amount of food. We had Reef Fish Ceviche, Fried Calamari, Mooloolaba Tuna, Beef Tataki, wood-fired sardines, Queensland scallops and prawns. I liked everything except sardines. There’s tingling numbing after taste. We asked the chef about it but they couldn’t pinpoint what ingredient would give you that numbing taste. The waiter was friendly and attentive. Overall, my first visit was pleasant.
Bonnie Y — Google review
We came for dinner and had an excellent time! Our server was lovely and the cocktails were very good. We enjoyed the tuna as an appetizer, and for mains the whole fish was good. The portions are quite large (which our server thankfully let us know before we ordered) so I recommend sharing! The overall atmosphere was nice, it is definitely on the fancier side and you do have a nice view of the harbor. In the evening they play music which can be loud but overall we had a great time!

Indonesian restaurant
Balinese restaurant
Bayleaf Balinese Restaurant offers a traditional Balinese dining experience in the heart of Cairns, with both indoor and terrace seating. The menu features classic Balinese dishes such as ayam sagur, nasi goreng, and bebek betutu, all crafted with care to evoke the flavors of Bali. The restaurant's tropical decor and garden fire torches create an immersive atmosphere for diners.
Delicious food, I had the grilled fish with a tomatoey, soy sauce and rice and it has to be my favourite meal of my holiday! Absolutely brilliant!! Cocktails were also really good and the staff were amazing, would highly recommend!
Beatons T — Google review
Probably the best Balinese food I’ve had outside of Bali. The flavours were bold, authentic, and well-executed. We especially enjoyed the skewers and pork ribs, which came out on a small grill that kept them hot throughout the meal—a nice touch that added to the experience. The mixed seafood with yellow rice was also a standout, with a great balance of spice and freshness. The only downside was that the grill continued to cook the food as we ate, so by the end of the meal, some items—particularly the skewers—became a bit overcooked and tough. The minced duck parcels and prawn bean salad were just okay. Not bad, but compared to the other dishes, they didn’t stand out and we’d probably skip them next time. Overall, a great spot for Balinese food with some real highlights. Would definitely return for the grilled dishes and seafood

Fast, friendly service. Food was amazing and Balinese surroundings. It is a bit expensive but money well spent, you get very generous portions. I highly recommend recommend this restaurant
Richard L — Google review
Easily the best Balinese food I’ve had outside of Bali. Everything we had is delicious (we had the chicken skewers, lamb shanks and chicken curry). Huge portions. Lovely staff and atmosphere. Will definitely be back.
Tara N — Google review
We popped in on a Friday evening for dinner and immediately liked the decor. The staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed with the Perkedel Jagung (Corn fritters) which were tasty and had just a hint of chili. Our mains were Massaman Beef (very flavoursome and tender but not too sweet) and Ayam Panggang (twice cooked crispy chicken which arrived over a smoking need of charcoal and was also tasty and tender). All up a lovely meal in delightful surroundings. Cheers and enjoy
Brent H — Google review
We ordered the lamb shank with yellow rice, Mee goreng & mixed skewers. Lamb shank dish wasn’t hot it was warm but still delicious, loved the lamb shank sauce mixed with rice. Portion is quite big for 1 person. We enjoyed it so much 💕✨ Only 4 star rating as some of the mixed skewers came out cold

Nasi Goreng was fantastic, staff were lovely too, came in last minute on a Sunday and they still seated me and made me an incredible meal. Atmosphere was lovely too, felt just like the real deal!

Cock & Bull is a charming and cozy wood-paneled pub located in Cairns, offering traditional hearty meals and a relaxed country atmosphere. The pub features giant fish sculptures, pool tables, and a tropical beer garden where visitors can mingle with friends. With its cheeky name and beautiful location, it's a great spot to unwind and enjoy live performances while indulging in delicious food. The personalized service adds to the unique experience of this iconic Cairns pub.
This place is a paradise for meat lovers! The restaurant’s decor is truly impressive, with animal heads mounted on the walls, giving it a bold and unique vibe. The food portions are absolutely massive—even the kids' meal is as big as an adult’s serving. We ordered just three meals and a kids' meal, and we were so full we had to take the leftovers home. Not only are the portions incredibly generous, but the food itself is also delicious. The staff are super friendly and patient—they took the time to explain how to order and even chatted with us about the weather in Cairns, which added a personal touch to the experience.

Friendly and down to earth restaurant. Great value for the money and huge portions! It is probably our best meal in Cairns. Really enjoyed the Kangaroo steak, lamb shank, and Death by Chocolate dessert. Highly recommended.
Jia Y — Google review
This is a classic Australian Pub - what an experience. Up here for a tournament and then staying extra for a holiday. My gosh the portions are huge and food tasty! First time I came with a mate I got the lasagne - I could not finish it 😭 THOUGH it was good for lunch the next day. For $26 which is normal pricing anywhere you go nationwide - it was well worth it, considering I got two meals out of it. Came back again when my family came up and we had Kids spaghetti, 1kg wings, schnitzel and parmi. The kids spaghetti was huge for a kid, could almost have it for an adult! All of that costed me about $92 or so and again, we had left overs. Delicious pub feed, massive portions and great atmosphere. Well worth the drop in, I had a great time
T M — Google review
We went there on a Wednesday night with 11 other people and it was very busy (highly recommended you book). We are ordered the same time and it didn't seem very long before we all had our meals. They are huge and quite reasonable priced.I found the bench seat, a little hard to get on and off, so if you have a disability, tell them you want a proper chair to sit on. The toilets were clean and there was a disabled one, but there are a few small steps around, so look out for them. There is a pokies room if you want a flutter. There are 3 areas that you can sit, but if you don't mine being a little warm out side on the verandah, it is for you. I found it a bit noisy, but we were still able to talk.
Karen D — Google review
Nice pub with alot of character. Definitely the most interesting pub I visited in Australia. The staff are great but the place is very popular so it can get busy at times. It's certainly worth a visit if you are in Cairns.
James C — Google review
Great pub. Top meals and friendly staff. Make sure you book as this place is busy due to its popularity.

I was on the fence whether to try out dinner at Cock and Bull with my wife. Were glad we did. Great meals. Quality and large portions. Staff were great and the atmosphere is family friendly. Enjoyed the Crocodile snitzel, recomend.

Ochre Restaurant in Cairns offers a contemporary dining experience with a focus on sustainable regional cuisine. The menu features adventurous dishes incorporating native game, herbs, and seafood, showcasing the flavors of the region. The six-course tasting menu is a culinary journey, featuring unique dishes like chargrilled kangaroo sirloin and wallaby topside. Additionally, the restaurant provides a unique breakfast experience with innovative dishes using native Australian ingredients such as smoked barramundi hash and grilled prawn breakfast salad.
First dined at Ochre in 2001 and it just keeps impressing every time. Fantastic service, great “new” (7 years) location and food and wine combinations that are absolutely divine. We had the degustation and could not fault it. The entire experience was awesome from start to finish. Could not recommend highly enough. Favourite place in Cairns by a country mile.
Danielheyburn — Google review
We came for dinner and Kelly our server was fantastic! She was very nice and knowledgeable about every dish, and attentive making sure we always had drinks and checking in about the dishes. The restaurant had an impressive menu comprised of native ingredients which we were excited to try and the menu and our server had lots of great information about each dish. We chose 3 course menu option which allowed us to try a bit of everything. The desserts were excellent and our favorite part of the meal! If you’re feeling adventurous and want to try some unique items like kangaroo, crocodile, and various native plants in a more upscale format I recommend.
Marisa S — Google review
Ochres restaurant was a stunning experience. The service was exceptional, the food exceptional and the ambience top notch. Sitting in a window seat looking out over the Cairns bay and beyond to Mountains has to be one of the most stunning views to eat in front of. I chose the gnocchi with mushrooms which was out of this world. My son chose the sweet potatoe fritters with the Ochre salad. A side of cauliflower and beans were delish. All tastes were fantastic. It was so good we went back the next day for lunch. Totally recommend this restaurant.
Belinda S — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An unforgettable anniversary dinner – 5 stars all the way! We dined at Ochre Restaurant on Thursday evening, 23rd October 2026, to celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. We chose the Degustation Menu with wine pairing, and every course was a delicate, delectable showcase of the best local produce Far North Queensland has to offer. Choosing a favourite dish is no easy task—it’s a close call between the scallop, the quail (with its incredible blend of spice and finger lime), the tender beef, and the zesty lemon myrtle tart. After much reflection, I’d have to say the scallop stood out just that little bit more—paired with the Tamburlaine Chardonnay, it was a taste of heaven. Each wine pairing throughout the evening was spot on, enhancing the flavours beautifully. We booked well in advance to secure one of the sought-after boardwalk tables, and were rewarded with a spectacular evening. The view over the Cairns Marina Inlet and across to the stunning mountain range was simply breathtaking, and the warm weather made it feel all the more magical. The service was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and highly knowledgeable about both the food and wine. The staff also made thoughtful suggestions around pacing the courses, allowing us to truly relax and enjoy every moment of the evening. Ochre has been a favourite of ours for many years—from family visiting from interstate to hosting our staff Christmas parties—and it never disappoints. But this night, celebrating a special milestone, might just have been the most memorable yet. Ambience, food, wine, service—everything was flawless. A heartfelt thank you to the team at Ochre.
Karen2 L — Google review
Since we weren't together for our birthdays, we wanted to eat at a more luxurious restaurant to celebrate together. Ochre is the perfect restaurant for this! We went for the six-course dinner including wine and enjoyed every dish with its matching wines. For dessert, we both received a little extra to celebrate our birthdays. Definitely a must-visit if you're in Cairns!
Joelle L — Google review
We recently celebrated our wedding anniversary while visiting the far North Queensland area and decided to do so at Ochre. The food was amazing. We shared Wattle see damper, Tempura gulf bugs and lamb shank, which melted in your mouth and were delicious, followed with Wattle seed pavlova which was also not your normal Pav and was beautiful! Enjoyed lovely wines and excellent service. A very lovely atmosphere looking out at the wharf in the evening. Highly recommend !! If we are lucky enough to come back over here from WA we would definitely eat here again! Very happy with our choice on this visit!
Michelle B — Google review
Style Over Substance at a Seafood Spot That Should Shine At a restaurant that bills itself as a seafood destination, I expected freshness and finesse. Unfortunately, the execution fell short. The oyster I began with lacked the brightness and clean flavor one hopes for; instead of setting the tone for the meal, it raised doubts. The main course, fish and chips, was competently fried yet uninspired, the sort of dish you could find at any corner pub, not something that justifies a dedicated seafood kitchen. The service was attentive and the waterfront location undeniably charming, but a restaurant’s reputation rests on the plate. On that front, the experience felt middling, and for the price, disappointing. With more attention to consistency and flavor, this kitchen could live up to its promise. For now, however, it remains a two-star experience.
Le F — Google review
Dining at Ochre was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm, attentive service that set the tone for an unforgettable lunch. We ordered the gnocchi, pork belly, scallops, and duck—each dish beautifully presented and bursting with flavour. The scallops were perfectly seared, the pork belly was rich and tender with a delightful crisp, and the duck was cooked to perfection. The gnocchi was a standout—pillowy and delicious, it may be the best I’ve had anywhere. Every bite was a celebration of taste, balance, and thoughtful preparation. The atmosphere at Ochre is equally impressive. Set right on the waterfront, the views are simply gorgeous—an ideal backdrop for a relaxing, refined dining experience. The playlist was well-curated and created a mellow, inviting ambiance that complemented the setting perfectly. We were also thoroughly impressed by the wine list, which showcases some fantastic Australian selections. We chose a Barbera from King Valley, and it was exceptional—fruity, smooth, and a perfect pairing for our meal. Ochre delivered on every level—food, service, atmosphere, and wine. It's easily one of the most memorable and flavourful dining experiences I’ve had, and I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Caffiend is a popular and lively cafe located in the heart of Cairns, known for its innovative menu and exceptional coffee. The cafe is always bustling with locals and visitors, including hipsters and post-yoga-goers. They take pride in serving exceptional coffee from local roasters and offer unapologetically seasonal food options. Their all-day breakfast menu features classic Aussie dishes as well as daily specials made with locally sourced ingredients.
Absolutely loved my experience at Caffiend for a work meeting breakfast. The Davidson Plum Eggs Benny was so delicious and the coffee was perfect. The staff are super friendly and the place has a relaxed vibe. The perfect spot to chill out and enjoy good food and coffee. Loved their artworks too!

Went in for a bite after the airport, and it was pretty solid. The food was good, I had a create your own breakfast, so I did some eggs with toast and chili sauce, which made for a great sandwich. The only thing is that they asked me to leave my luggage by the door, which I felt a bit iffy with. Not a staff thing, but it just rubbed me the wrong way a bit. Oh well. Good food, and reasonable prices for a tourist town

I had a fantastic experience, the barista Jimmy was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about coffee, he recommended to drink the coffee with a sake glass and a ceramic cup, and they taste completely different (both taste really good) , and it was the best experience i’ve had in town! Everyone was so friendly and attentive, creating a welcoming atmosphere. I will definitely come back again next time when i visit Cairns. ❤️
HLC J — Google review
Was once a great place with good table service but now you order online via square, or order at the counter. Very impersonal with extra high prices. ~$8 for a side of bacon. That is an exorbitant price. I’ve been here many times with great service but it’s gone downhill a lot. Lots of staff floating around but they are struggling to give service. Coffee art is inspiring!
Troy L — Google review
The café itself isn’t very big, but it has such a charming atmosphere—slightly bohemian and rustic, super cute and homey. I also loved that they provide free bottled tap water, such a thoughtful touch. I tried the iced coffee with their house-made coconut syrup, and it was absolutely delicious—strong coffee, creamy, not too sweet, and perfectly coconutty. Feeling adventurous, I also ordered their Kangaroo “Rooben” sandwich (love the clever name, by the way!). The kangaroo itself tastes a lot like very mild beef, and it was perfectly cooked—super tender and flavorful. The sandwich came on warm focaccia bread that was crunchy on the outside, fluffy inside, with that perfect focaccia chew. On the side, they served house-made sweet potato chips—thin, slightly sweet, wonderfully crunchy, and not greasy at all. The combination was fantastic. Not to mention, all the food and drinks looked beautiful—definitely Instagram-worthy. Between the delicious food, cozy vibes, and warm, friendly service, it really felt like the perfect package. I’d definitely come back again.

Had a wonderful dinner at this place! Everything was very delicious and I loved all the dishes we ordered. Although I was skeptical of the egg fried rice at first, however it was actually quite delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The fried chicken as part of the dish was also cooked to perfection. We also ordered several fish dishes which were very fresh and yummy. I also liked the cauliflower dish, something about the sesame sauce just made the dish really stand out. Overall, this place was quite good and I highly recommend it.

I had such a great experience here. The coffee was excellent, smooth and well-made. I tried the limited edition Smashed Pork from the breakfast menu and it was absolutely delicious. The house-made muffin was another highlight, huge, fresh, and seriously one of the best I’ve had. Everything from the food to the service was spot on. Definitely worth coming back for.

By far the best avocado toast I have ever had. The portion was big but I never got bored because the way it is plated you can clearly create four distinct flavor profiles on the same dish. The chili is plated open on the side, there is a lemon wedge, and sweet balsamic. The seeded bread and added seeds was amazing. Topped with caramelized onions and cherry tomatoes and herbs with a touch of what appeared to be yogurt. I added the halloumi for saltiness. What is amazing is that you were in control of everything. Wife enjoyed the prawn toast that was also great. We enjoyed the acai and the mango-coconut smoothies too. Service was superb. Great way to end our Cairns visit. Place is walking distance from Botanical Gardens and near airport. Highly recommend you stop here.

This has to be one of my absolute favourite spots for breakfast or lunch it’s become a little weekly tradition that I always look forward to! From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere just feels welcoming. The staff are consistently warm, attentive, and professional, the coffee never misses (always perfect!), and the food is nothing short of divine. It’s one of those places that just puts you in a good mood every single time.

The food was absolutely delicious! The Tiramisu French Toast and Togarashi Pork Roll were absolutely amazing! Everything was honestly delicious and I cannot wait to go back.

Hemingway's Brewery Cairns Wharf is a sprawling brewhouse located at the Cruise Liner Terminal in Cairns, Queensland. It offers a diverse beer menu along with delicious food options such as burgers, pizza, and fish tacos. The brewery is also a part of the Cairns Brewery and Distillery Tour which includes visits to five local venues, starting with Hemingways Brewery for lunch and one of their core range beers.
Large place with plenty of seating inside and out, good range of beer, nice waterfront views. Good fries. If the tasting paddle allowed me to pick my own 5 to try that would be better. Shop for takeaways.
Koen A — Google review
Wanted to try the beer paddle but seems that the prices have significantly increased compared to old Google map photos. Got a small beer instead which is good. Went at 3:30pm and was told that the kitchen was closed (3-5pm) - only pizza available. The Thai prawn pizza tasted good. If there was no cruise ship then you should have a nice harbour view but it was blocked by the cruise ship when I was there.

Weekday happy hour $7 fresh beer! And yummy chix wings, calamari rings and pizza to boot. Add on a gorgeous view of the marina. And really friendly and helpful staff! Be back soon!

They have a beautiful casual space for an afternoon beer or two. Servers are fantastic. The beers are good too. We had the squid and chips. Unfortunately the squid was basically crunchy batter with not much squid at all. Chips were decent.

Awesome first time experience visiting from Wisconsin… USA… The staff is incredible warm and friendly and very helpful… Sat here enjoyed a flight very awesome and great prices. Highly recommend a stop at Hemmingway’s.

We ordered wings and two beers here. I am not a huge wing person because I’ve had some pretty terrible wings, but these were the opposite! Saucy and tender wings that were contenders for the best wings I’ve had out! There’s a wing Wednesday special too!

Excellent brewery, lovely staff and good atmosphere at Wharf. Love their beers. Sitting are outside and inside but on this occasion we decided to sit inside. Also they have designed area for smokers.

Perched high above the city, Rocco by Crystalbrook provides a delightful experience with its 270-degree panoramic views and delectable Mediterranean cuisine. The menu showcases a diverse range of dishes influenced by the flavors of Greece, Italy, and Spain, including grilled seafood, slow-roasted lamb, and shucked oysters. Vegetarian and vegan options are also available. This rooftop bar boasts an impressive Champagne menu alongside aromatic cocktails.
The food was amazing! One of the best dishws it was the lamb and all the different dips were so good! Special mention to our waiter (Clara), she was so gentile and servicial. We will be coming back soon!

Went as a walk in just for drinks. Asked for outside seating and was shown to a bench on the far right of the balcony. It was in pitch darkness, no lighting/table candle, no view and dismal overall (see picture, it looks better in the picture due to my camera being reasonable and improving the lighting). We went inside and sat at the bar instead as the corner bench was like a joke, or somewhere the staff sit to have a rest away from sight of the patrons. Honestly, the server would have been better to say all outside seating was booked and seat us inside. The place as a whole is beautifully fitted out, nice views from the outdoor high tables and has a nice buzz inside. I would have liked to try food but didn't Service was okay but we were off to a bad start with the first seating offered. We had bar service and that was efficient and semi friendly. It was bar service though, so fine. When it came time to pay, the payment system has tipping options pre set and start at 30% down to no tip at the very bottom. Bit steep in my experience and not the norm in Australia. I wouldn't recommend Rocco based on my experience, but I'm sure it'll be kept busy with tourists and couples looking for a romantic night .
Dave R — Google review
Rocco was such a pleasant surprise. Was walking on the esplanade and noticed the building and decided to go in. Coming out of the lift are first presented with the exquisite atmosphere and we are guided to our table by the very nice host. The light up menus are such a nice touch. We were seated at a high table but the chairs were so comfortable. Alejandra was our waitress and she did an amazing job guiding us through the night and helping us with our cocktail choices. The food is great quality-price and the Lalla cocktail is a new favourite. All the front of house staff was very welcoming but I have to give a special thanks to Alejandra for her exceptional service. Will definitely visit again when back in Cairns in the future
Joana S — Google review
Able to get the balcony seat for a darkened view of the ocean which was accompanied by grim service. Had to serve my own water twice and cancel the order of food when it took over an hour to reach our table. When we told the service staff we wanted to cancel our food order, we were told “it’s at the pass now.” This was a lie. We waited and no food came. We were waiting for the option for feedback but was met with typical backpacker service from the staff. Go elsewhere.
Dr D — Google review
We so enjoyed Rocco’s, every night of our stay had a pre-dinner cocktail and enjoyed the view before heading out for dinner. On our last night, we had dinner here as well. It was great. We were celebrating our anniversary and they brought us a desert. Everyone who took care of us was so friendly, Pietro, Sasha & Lucia!
Mary H — Google review
First of all, contacting them via was annoying as it goes to voice mail and no one responds to voice message. The ambience in the restaurant is pretty good but the food is okay. I would not visit for drinks and view but not food next time. When they asked the occasion multiple times, I was assuming there would be something from the restaurant after spending $$$ there but all I got was farewell saying Happy Birthday. However, customer service was good.
Sambhabtravels — Google review
We had a wonderful evening at Rocco - the food was amazing (the warm pita bread makes any of the dips even better, and the saffron rice was just incredible!), the cocktails were great creations, the view was of course stunning and our waitress was just the best! Alejandra made sure that we weren’t missing anything, that we enjoyed our evening (so did her manager but we didn’t get his name) and her charming character made the overall experience even better!
Emilie M — Google review
We came just for drinks and snacks before dinner, and we had a lovely time at Rocco. The service was great, Pedro helped us choosing our wine and dip so we ended up with a Pinot Gris and the homemade hummus and pita bread : 10/10 The vibe is good, intimate, not noisy at all. The place is quite small but it feels very easy to have a private moment with whoever you bring there. Thank you for having us

Chicken restaurant
Howlin' Jay's is a popular American restaurant in Cairns that serves chicken burgers and frozen cocktails. The menu features Nashville-style fried chicken, as well as tenders, sweet potato fries and fried pickles. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. This fun restaurant is great for groups of friends to rejoice in good times.
It was truly the best dinner I’ve had in a long time. We ordered the 6-piece chicken wings. I’ve tried a lot of chicken in Australia, but I was always left disappointed. So I didn’t expect much when we ordered this, but the chicken here was on another level. It was just as good as, or even better than, Korean fried chicken, which is considered the best in the world. In fact, my mother runs a small chicken restaurant in Korea, and this was even better than hers. We chose medium spice, and it had a decent kick even for a Korean. If you’re not good with spicy food, I’d recommend going with a milder option. Also, the staff here were incredibly friendly and left a great impression. Thanks to them, it turned into such a lovely and heartwarming evening.
Yunjae J — Google review
A must-eat in Cairns. We got the chicken tenders in hot and it had just the right amount of spice I'd expect from "hot". The crinkle cut fries were also well seasoned and fried to perfection. Very chill atmosphere on a weekday but can see how busy it would get during the weekend
Tanya S — Google review
The chicken sandwich and halloumi sandwich we got were both tasty. We came early on a Monday and they were pretty deserted. The food came out quick. The menu is pretty limited to various fried chicken and wings as well as halloumi as a veggie option, but that was fine. The decorations on the wall were entertaining.
Jeff M — Google review
The chicken and chips here are next level! So crunchy and tasty - at any heat choice. The first time we went we got the spicy and our brows got super heated. The second time we turned the spice down and it was still delicious. Chips and cocktails are a good accompaniment. Highly recommend visit here if you are in Cairns 👌🏻👌🏻
Naomi S — Google review
My husband and I whiled away a few hours over two afternoons here. The food was delicious and lots of it. We had wings, halloumi fries, fried pickles and popcorn chicken and it was all hot and fresh. The beverage menu was fantastic - the frozen cocktails were amazing. I have not had a Coronarita that good since being in the US. The staff were friendly and the service was quick. We did notice how fast the empties were cleared and the tables cleaned between customers. The music and the atmosphere were festive and cheerful. The air conditioning inside made it pleasant and the view outside, of the bay, was peaceful. We would definitely recommend and will go again if we come back to Cairns.

Yum!! Chicken juicy and succulent, food was amazing. Staff were lovely especially wavy blonde at the bar counter. Being foreigners we didn’t always feel welcome in similar establishments in Cairns but Howlin Jays was lovely and also tasty. Highly recommend.
Sharyn C — Google review
when I lived in cairns and Howlin’ Jay’s opened it was my go-to, and even now, every time I fly in, it’s the first place I stop. It’s also the last stop before heading back to the Canada, every year. Their hot chicken is hands-down the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve eaten my way through plenty of spots across North America. The burgers are unreal—crispy, juicy, with the perfect amount of heat—and every bite reminds me why this place has stuck with me over the years. The drinks are just as good, always refreshing, and the vibe inside makes it easy to settle in and stay a while. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Simply put, it’s one of those rare places that never disappoints.

The girls working here are the kindest and most welcoming!! Every person who comes in they make the effort to say hey which makes you feel welcomed. The girl from Seattle & the Irish lady in particular were so kind and hospitable. The wings and Mac and cheese are also 1010. I’d come here again just for the amazing service and vibe of the place !! Thanks guys :)

Three Wolves is a stylish bar located just a short stroll from Coral Sea Brewing in Cairns. Opened in 2016, it provides an urban small bar experience with a touch of Melbourne or Sydney vibe. The venue boasts a striking mural by local artist Caroline Mudge featuring three suave wolves and a larger-than-life Red Riding Hood.
Absolutely loving the new location. It looks amazing and has such a great vibe! The space is way more stylish but still feels relaxed and welcoming. Service was top-notch as always, shout out to Three Wolves’ superstar, Ben! Very friendly and quick. The cocktail menu is impressive too. Really unique mixes that actually taste good and pretty looking! Definitely our go-to spot for drinks. They’ve done an awesome job with the upgrade!

A unique and charming spot for cocktails in Cairns. They’ve recently moved to a larger location, but have kept all the cozy elegance and character of the original. It can get busy, but it still feels like the perfect place to enjoy a well-crafted cocktail and a good conversation. The bartenders are clearly experienced and passionate about what they do. A great find!

This Korean restaurant is well-located, clean and has generous portions at high prices. The food is of good quality, and the service is excellent. It can be quite busy so it's best to book ahead.
Very generous portions at this Korean restaurant. Prices are in the high side compared to other similar places in Cairns but the quality of food is very high. Moim is a popular place so best to make a booking. We were here on a Tuesday night and it was packed. It’s also one of the few places up here with ice cold air conditioning in Summer!

We order a hotpot and the deep fried chicken. It made us really satisfied, we cleared both plate which we couldn’t imagine we can eat that much lol the deep fried chicken you can choose two flavours which you can taste 2 different one and not feel bored on only eating one flavour. The hotpot it stated spicy but it is acceptable spicy as my friend could not eat too spicy. Really good meal!!

This was the worst Korean fried chicken we’ve ever had. The chicken was so dry and no taste(original flavor). Didn’t even come with classic radish side. The bibimbap was nothing special. Very disappointing 👎

Fantastic atmosphere - very chilled and casual. We were a group of 4 and decided to order every meal on the entree list as share plates. They all were delivered at the same time and each dish was fantastic! Spot on sangrias and the staff were awesome. We will definitely be back!

A year ago I ate at Pacifico and informed the wait staff of my anaphylaxis to nuts. When I ordered the fish tacos we reminded them of my allergy again as the menu didn’t specify nuts in the meal. The fish taco came out with crushed peanuts in the salad and without knowing I had some and ended up in critical condition in hospital. I was informed by the manager I would be offered a refund, a free meal and the menu would be updated to include allergens. We decided to go back for a ginger beer 2 weeks ago and was utterly disappointed. We walked in and were ignored by the staff even though the restaurant was pretty much empty. We ordered our drinks and were informed there was no gas for the tap beers. When ordering our food we were then informed we couldn’t order the burger as they’d run out of that too. The staff informed us that two people had left that night and the chef was angry so they were under pressure. As customers we could hear the chef ringing the bell excessively when a meal was ready and it was an unsettling experience. The food took a long time to come out and it was clear that the staff were not enjoying themselves. The drink selection was very commercial compared to the tap beers they advertise. I wouldn’t recommend going here at all if you have allergies or are looking for a relaxing environment for dinner and drinks. This place was definitely better when it was green ant cantina.

4 of us went for lunch service was fine no complaints there. Food seem to be pretty good enjoyed my wings and chips, but chips are more like French fries more than chips, tasted good still cooked well just lacked salt. Atmosphere was ok for that type of shop, tables out side just need a little work, some issue as a lot of Takeaway/Dine in shops tables wonky or lose tops, no one wants to try eat food on a table that wobbles all over the place this. Overall though pretty happy and would like to go back to try something else. Ordered on the day from others I was with Tachos - looked nice and no complaints Bao Buns - they loved them

Staff was very nice and service was good. However, the chicken rice bowl and wings and chips does not taste like authentic Korean food and is one of the worst Korean foods that I have ever experienced. I would not recommend people to try. In addition, portions are not very big in comparison for the price paid.

Breakfast in the Chicken Shed is an indulgence in having a delicious lunch of Korean inspired creations but for breakfast. My delight at being able to order a Bulgogi Wrap at 7:50am with a large latte was real. The prices are incredibly reasonable and the coffee, most importantly, is delicious. Full bodied and balanced in a way I didn't expect at a place called Chicken Shed. The decor is also fun to look at. It has style, this place.

We recently visited this estaurant in Cairns, Australia, and had a great overall experience. We ordered Mom’s Chicken Wings and the Garlic & Sweet Chicken, both dishes were absolutely delicious, with well balanced flavors and a moderate level of spice that suited our taste perfectly. The chicken, as confirmed by the owner, is halal, which was reassuring and appreciated. The food was served within 15 minutes, which was impressive considering the quality and freshness of the dishes. The service was smooth, and the staff were friendly and efficient. The seating area is ok, not fancy, but clean enough for a casual meal. The restaurant is in a prime location right in the city center, making it very convenient to access on foot or by public transport. One downside is that parking can be tricky, especially during busy hours, so it’s something to keep in mind if you're driving. That said, the prices are reasonable, and for the quality of the food and service, it’s definitely worth it. Highly recommended for anyone looking for tasty halal chicken dishes in the heart of the city.

The garlic soy chicken is moist, flavourful and delicious. The galbi chicken was too sweet and rich for me, but for those who like sweet and sticky sauce it’ll be great. Nice serving size.

The best place in Cairns to get real KFC( Korean Fried Chicken). We had the sweet and spicy plus the original fried chicken with chips.
Ray B — Google review
One of the best plates of chicken I’ve eaten. The wait was a bit long (almost 20 minutes with only ~5 patrons), but it was WORTH IT. The rice is perfectly done, the slaw compliments the chicken. The chicken itself is well cooked and still moist, with the skin having a mild crunch. Had me laughing with joy every other bite! The only other complaint I have is that the music was a tad loud, but it fit the vibe.

Best fried chicken in town! Everything was cooked to perfection and such good serving sizes. Ordered way too much food for 4 people so we definitely know for next time. It’s nicely air conditioned inside and the staff were friendly and helpful. A little bit of a wait for food but it was expected for 7pm on a Saturday night. Will definitely be back!

I had high hopes arriving at Tasty Road and the food on the menu looked great, if a little pricey. However, we were seated for well over an hour before we got our food, this would've been fine if the service was good, but our drinks also took a good 20 minutes to come out which was weird as they were just canned/bottled drinks. We weren't told anything that was happening in the kitchen and I could see other tables were waiting ages, even takeaway was 30+ minutes. The whole time we were there, no wait staff came over to check on how our meal was going or updated us on time remaining for our meals. When the food came out, it was beautiful, I got the chicken and cheese chicken with chips, it was beautiful and I loved the cheese sauce but some of the other meals were very pricey. One of my friends ordered a chicken dish and it came by itself eight to ten pieces of chicken with no sides at all, the meal came to around 28 dollars, I would've appreciated a traditional korean/Asian side included with the food. All in all, the food was delicious and if the service was improved, I could see myself going back there, but I'd probably choose to go somewhere else in Cairns otherwise. EDUT: Just thought I should include, we were seated out the front which could've been a reason for the negative service.

The local village stop was a highlight—we got to meet artisans, taste traditional foods, and learn about the area's rich history. The coffee plantation tour was another treat for coffee lovers like us! Highly recommend Thank you, Anita

Was easy to communicate with and responds promptly. Arrived on time and was very friendly. Have child car seats/boosters. Great prices especially for a big vehicle. Very recommended

Booked return airport transfer and a Tableland tour with Anita, the service was fantastic! Anita is prompt and has great knowledge about local must-sees, she's also a very nice person to talk to while she's driving you around. The van is luxurious and the prices are very competitive. Would definitely use her services again.

We had an amazing experience with Cairns Adventure Tours! From start to finish, everything was well-organized, and the itinerary was perfectly balanced. The tour bus was spacious and comfortable, and the scenic drive along the coast was breathtaking.

Worst experience ever. I would never recommend this place to anyone especially people with family's. Managers are ghetto as hell. Managers have a bad attitude towards residential and there guests. All your guest will get harrased without cause and band from property if you having anything to say. Most residential guest are Band from property with out cause only because mangers feel that way. Your vehicles are not safe. They have cameras around but not for security purpose in the car park area but only for the owners safety. So If your car gets tampered with no one can help you unless you have your own camera. My car got tampered with some many times even a few parts of my vehicle have been stolen and ripped of my vehicle, Managers can't do anything about it. Bedding and appliances are dirty, broken and cheap. Mattress is stained and dirty from previous residential. Managers will tell your personal business to others residents such as: if your going through domestic violence, what your kids are like, when your behind rent and e.g. just know other residents will know your private and personal information. I have witness's the managers son threaten resident with physical harm, harras and bully resident. When I say Ghetto Service. I mean Ghetto Service 😳. 💯 not worth your money or time. Year 2023 - experience at Rainforest Grove.
