Hotel
M'ar de Ar Aqueduto is a luxurious hotel set in a converted 16th-century palace, featuring a stunning chapel and dome ceilings. The hotel offers an extensive spa with an outdoor pool overlooking the aqueducts of Evora. Guests can enjoy creative Alentejo and Mediterranean cuisine at Restaurant Degust AR, as well as unwind at the bar with a wine cellar. The elegantly designed rooms provide comfort and functionality, while the spa offers various treatments and massages.
The front desk staff was so helpful especially the lady on the day shift. We highly recommend this hotel. It would be even better in warm weather when the outdoor pool is used. The indoor pool has a therapy level jet and feels great. Great breakfast.

Excellent location and excellent quality throughout. Very friendly staff. Big rooms and quality linens and floorings - this makes a difference. Breakfast also quite good. Very relaxing and stylish place. Can only recommend and will certainly come back … excellent value for money
Tarra V — Google review
Charming hotel, wonderful people. Good price for a 5-star hotel inside the city walls. Big, comfy bed, spacious room, a/c properly working (very needed as the Summer is very hot). Spacious bathtub and shower cabin but no handles though. Good pool but a little small, so as the pool deck. Few sun loungers and always taken, which doesn't make sense as there's a lot of unused space around - some of it could be filled with extra sun loungers. Good breakfast, but not with the expected variety for a 5-star hotel. The restaurant was awarded a Michelin star in 2020, and the menu is very interesting.
Cristina R — Google review
Very nice staff, awesome breakfast, nice room, great with kids we enjoyed the pool very much. Parking was included But it was full, we were lucky to have a spot in front of the hotel. Would recommend!
Justine B — Google review
Unfortunately, I had to cancel my stay on the day of arrival due to an unexpected illness. I reached out to the hotel multiple times with no success. Booking.com directed me to contact the hotel directly. The hotel showed no empathy and refused to consider my request, even though they were not fully booked. Their response felt unreasonably rigid and profit-driven, lacking basic human understanding. Based on this experience, I will not choose this hotel again on future visits to the city.
Yair C — Google review
It was absolutely one of best hotels I traveled, it’s beautiful, easy access to all parts of hotel, great staff very professional and polite, very clean, even smell is wonderful inside rooms and general area , highly recommend this hotel dont hesitate to book
Mehdi R — Google review
Love this hotel. Fortunate to get the chance to go often. Eunice , Marta, Ruben, Miguel and Bernardo are wonderful. Gonçalo the pool man and Rui and Stefan . Obrigado
Daniel F — Google review
Excellent hotel for reasonable rate out of summer season. The sauna is great just too bad the ice snow machine wasn’t working for a proper sauna experience. The room with garden backyard was excellent, the bed was comfortable and the staff is professional, polite and helpful. Maybe a bit more vegan options for the breakfast and an allergen information in front of the cooked food. I would definitely recommend! 😄

Pousada Convento Évora is a luxurious 5-star hotel located in the heart of Evora, offering elegant rooms with modern amenities. The hotel features a refined restaurant, a bar, and a courtyard swimming pool surrounded by characteristic arched corridors and vaulted ceilings. The rooms are carefully updated to provide comfort while preserving their historical charm, with private bathrooms including both bathtub and shower.
Absolutely stunning accommodation. Staff were universally gracious and helpful, the location unsurpassed and the rooms were an experience. I read some rather negative reviews regarding the rooms and I would say to those people, go somewhere else and be quiet. We loved the rooms, period. It is an ancient building. It is beautiful and the halls and rooms spoke of history and exuded charm and of stories untold. I would definitely return .
Les E — Google review
Unfortunately we can't give a separate review for the restaurant, so here it is: Hotel - 4 stars Restaurant - 1 star. As others have described, the pousada is very well located, the staff friendly, and the rooms charming. Overall, a great place to stay, smack in the middle of the historical center of Évora. However... the restaurant is absolutely not suitable for vegans or vegetarians despite what the menu might suggest, or what the staff may tell you. There were two options on the menu: stuffed aubergine, and couscous with grilled vegetables. The "stuffed" aubergine actually consisted of aubergine peel, with poorly seasoned, grilled vegetables on top (no aubergine among them). And the couscous dish consisted of a small layer of those same vegetables, on top of a large pile of insipid couscous. And that was it. Uninspired. Unseasoned. And expensive. Absolutely not acceptable for a five star restaurant that claims to cater for vegetarian/vegan diets. There are many, far better options elsewhere in Évora.
Pedro F — Google review
This review is for the charming restaurant inside the convent. The waiters were nice, professional, and respectful. They make you feel like royalty. The complimentary appetizers were generous and delicious, and the main dishes were just as tasty. Highly recommend!
M M — Google review
We stayed for two nights in this wonderful place. The room was comfortable, the service was perfect and friendly, the breakfast was excellent with a large selection of food, the location could not have been better, and of course, the building was unique and an experience in itself.
Julia A — Google review
Apart from its excellent location (easy to reach and easy walk to all attractions), the Pousada has little to offer, particularly considering that it passes as a 5-Star hotel. There are far better options around. Its rooms are in desperate need of an overhaul: stained carpets, dated furniture and bathroom fixtures, and lack of basic room amenities (e.g., no coffee maker). In terms services, the Pousada is equally lacking: Staff is quite friendly but not very engaged in terms of providing suggestions (perhaps due the large number tour groups that stay here for a single night), breakfast is quite average and lacks some options that even lower-category hotels provide, and the hotel pool is small and not well maintained. As long as management (Pestana Group) does not invest in upgrading the Pousada, look for another alternative around Évora.
G. S — Google review
Sadly, a 2 star hotel masquerading as a 5 star hotel...with insane prices given the quality offered. Our room was a laughable flashback to a 1970s B&B...shabby furniture, cheap carpet, an awful bathroom, marked walls covered with cheap paint. The external areas such as the pool look rundown and uncared for. How hard is it to whitewash dirty walls, or take weeds out ? The restaurant in the cloisters looks nice, until you realise you're hemmed in by dirty windows, and anyway you simply overlook overgrown trees and weeds. The location is excellent and the staff were nice, but by God does this property need millions invested in renovation. We won't be staying in Pestana hotels again I'm afraid. This hotel is a complete rip off.

Casa do Governador is a former rural estate turned luxury lodge located less than 2 miles from central Evora. The property, spanning nearly 70 acres, was once used as an infirmary for nearby friars and now sits inside an ecological reserve. Accommodation options include double rooms, suites, and separate villas. The traditional Alentejo house exudes charm with chic antique decor and a warm atmosphere.
Great, historical building close to Évora. A real natural haven to stay in whilst enjoying the area. An old house surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. Perhaps a little faded in places but nevertheless the rooms are very clean and comfortable. Lots of different seating areas in the grounds so you can enjoy the peaceful location listening to the birds. Breakfast was a lovely buffet including fresh fruit and yoghurt. A hot egg option and lots of homemade jams and cakes. Worth a visit if you are in the area
Jax M — Google review
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The staff was very kind and attentive. When we arrived they offered us cake and even made us an espresso. It was a small gesture but it was very thoughtful and made an impact on our overall experience. The property is beautiful, the common areas well maintain, and we enjoyed walking around and relaxing by the pool. After the first few hours of us being there, we definitely wished we could’ve stayed more than one night. Great location near Evora as well.
Peter S — Google review
We stayed here with 13 family members for Easter weekend and it was perfect. The property and grounds are so beautiful. The rooms were spacious and the staff was incredibly helpful and available for anything we needed. We ate dinner there one night that was delicious and the breakfasts were all wonderful as well. I can’t say enough good about this place. I cannot wait to come back!
Katharine A — Google review
We absolutely loved our stay and wish we could have stayed longer at this special and tranquil place. A home away from home feel with spacious, comfortable rooms. The breakfasts were delicious, so was our dinner and the home baked cake for guests to enjoy. Our 19m old toddler loved running through the grape vines and visiting the sheep, goats, horses and chickens. The setting is so lovely and peaceful and the staff friendly, welcoming and helpful.
Mel G — Google review
Beautiful place to spend a couple days and relax surrounded by nature. Full of history, with amazing kind staff. Everything was amazing
Menahem A — Google review
Casa do Governador is truly a hidden gem. Situated on an expansive grape and olive farm in the beautiful plains of Alentejo, you will never want to leave. The staff was friendly and accommodating, but the real reason to come here is the seclusion and beauty of the space. I stayed in the main house, but there were a few private villas on the property that I would book if I were to return with friends/family. I was amazed to find that that there are Neolithic menhirs and a funerary set (tomb) on the property. No need to even leave! (Although the Almendres Cromlech is worth a stop). The bed was very comfortable and breakfast delicious each day (warm croissants and eggs to your liking). I spent hours at the two serene pools, one with a beach-like gradual entry. Plenty of chairs and shade. My room was spacious and very clean. Sitting outside and watching the shooting stars at night was sublime. Don’t think, just book it! Thank you Casa do Governador for the amazing stay.
Bridget — Google review
Service was excellent, rooms were uniquely decorated in the Alentejo style and the staff ( Manuel at the desk and Maria in the kitchen) were particularly welcoming and thoughtful. The property is set in a typical farm with a vineyard which also offers a lovely pool numerous possibilities to walk around the grounds.
Suzanne P — Google review
We loved it ! Great place, very professional and nice team. Simple but excellent food (delicious breakfast and diners!). The house is very well decorated, as well as the bedrooms that offer you a big bed. We hope we will be able to come back again, it was definitely a very good experience for both of us.

Located in a rural area, Octant Hotels Évora offers a relaxing retreat for travelers visiting the charming city of Évora. The hotel provides top-notch facilities including an outdoor swimming pool, fitness center, and spa services. Guests can enjoy free bikes and parking on-site. With its 4-star rating, this hotel also features a restaurant, indoor pool, sauna, and kids' club.
This is a beautiful hotel in the Portuguese countryside. Everything is designed and curated with taste and perfection. This staff is wonderful and caring and the food outstanding. The rooms are big and spacious, an extra star for the comfortable bed. Only minus would be some very loud kids, but that’s not the hotels fault … some parents don’t care about other people I can highly recommend this hotel.
Erasmus M — Google review
It is a mixed experience. The hotel, rooms, facilities are great, clean and new. Really kids friendly in rooms, restaurant everywhere. But you are so far away that you have to eat at their restaurant. Prices fitting a four star hotel. But then they bring the food that is tasteless, uncooked and you can have better at the local village. One night ourselves and two other tables returned the Rosemary potatoes because they were uncooked. When we addressed this the waiter embarrassed just recommended us to order something else because they don’t make them better. Pork strips dish of about 20€ is only that 12 thin peaces of chewy meat strips with salt (that is the dish) nothing else on the plate. It was sad. The spa is cold and not fitting the price. How can you have any treatment when you are freezing 🥶 i really hope this changes in the future as we would like to come again. The nature, the farm the outdoor garden was amazing and our daughter loved it. 🥰
Jelena M — Google review
We spent two days here and absolutely loved it! The design is spot on – modern and minimalist, but at the same time warm and inviting thanks to all the natural elements and wood. It gave us an instant feeling of calm and comfort. The highlights for us were definitely the different pools and the little walking trails with cozy spots to relax along the way. We also loved seeing the hotel’s own fruit and vegetable garden – such a nice touch, and the whole property is beautifully laid out. But what really made our stay so special were the people. Every single member of the team was incredibly friendly, always with a smile and genuinely checking in on how we were doing. That kind of atmosphere makes all the difference. A short stay, but one we’ll remember for a long time. Five stars without hesitation!
Annika S — Google review
The hotel is located on a beautiful property and the rooms are spacious and peaceful. The staff, however, fall very short of expectations. For these prices in Portugal, I expect staff that can accurately place a meal order (for every meal I had to ask three or four different waiters before I finally got what I needed), food that is delivered at the right temperature (or delivered at all, really), and can do basic things like deliver ironing boards or print pieces of paper. I would also expect the wine to be bottles that you can’t find for half the price on supermarket shelves. The food is outrageously expensive for Portugal (8 euros for two pieces of bread and butter, for example) and the quality does not deliver. The grounds are not well maintained and many details are missing. If this hotel were managed better (or really at all), it would be a better experience.
Amy S — Google review
The entire property is absolutely stunning! We hosted our wedding welcome party here and had all of our guests stay on site. It was truly the perfect experience—every room was beautiful, and the food was nothing short of incredible. We couldn’t have asked for a better time there!
Mara K — Google review
I’ve had massages all over the world, but none compare to the one I received from Liliana at the Évora Hotel, Farm & Spa. I was hesitant about the €149 price for a 90-minute custom massage, but within minutes I realized she’s in a class of her own — precise, intuitive, and deeply skilled. I don’t believe in tipping just because someone does their job, but when service goes above and beyond, I’m more than happy to show my appreciation. Let’s just say my tip was more than the massage — and worth every cent. If Liliana ever works in Los Angeles, I’ll be her first client. Until then, I’ll be flying back to Portugal for another session.
Robert J — Google review
Beautiful hotel out in the countryside. We had a lovely 3 bedroom villa, with an amazing view of the countryside. It is a bit remote, so its easier to eat dinner there versus driving into a town. Restaurant had excellent food. They have walking trails on the grounds too. Lovely pools too, but a bit chilly.
TG ( — Google review
Amazing experience for our family! Carefree from the moment you arrive - the staff is super attentive & makes you feel welcome - great advice to discover new Alentejo wines from Henrique & the kids club offered a broad range of activities which our 9 and 12 year old girls loved - Julia & Andrea did a great job! The kids especially loved the nocturnal scavenger hunt, pool games and visit of the farm to take care of the animals and vegetable garden as well as the pancake workshop. We loved the walks on the estate - delicious food and comfortable rooms.

In the heart of Evora, the newly opened MouraSuites Hotel offers a modern and stylish accommodation option. The hotel is conveniently located near popular attractions such as Lookout - Cordovil House Gallery, Tribunal Judicial da Comarca De Evora, and Igreja e Convento do Carmo. Guests can unwind in the cozy rooms equipped with amenities like mini-bars and pod coffee machines. Some rooms even feature patios with unique city views.
My wife and I enjoyed a lovely stay at the Moura Suites Hotel. The staff is warm and welcoming. The room was perfect and the bathroom was amazing. I don’t know if I have ever had a better shower. The bathrobes and slippers were an added bonus 😀. Breakfast was made to order and exceeded my expectations. Everything about our stay was top notch. I’ll definitely save it as a favorite hotel for my next visit to Evora.
Jim D — Google review
My wife and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Mourasuites, and I honestly cannot recommend this hotel enough. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, the service was nothing short of outstanding. Every member of the staff made us feel genuinely welcomed and well looked after. The rooms were beautifully appointed spotlessly clean, stylish, and thoughtfully equipped with all the modern conveniences you’d expect from a top-tier hotel. We had USB-A and USB-C charging points, a great coffee machine, a fantastic rain shower, and one of the most comfortable beds we’ve ever slept in. The setting of Mourasuites is equally impressive. Tucked into a picturesque town, the ambiance is peaceful and charming. Waking up to the gentle sound of church bells in the morning felt like something out of a storybook. The small, serene pool in the central courtyard added an extra layer of calm and relaxation to our stay. Breakfast each morning was a highlight elegantly presented, with real attention to detail and quality. It was clear that great care went into making it a special experience. Although this may be a small-town hotel, it rivals many of the best we’ve stayed in around the world. Mourasuites is a true gem, and we’ll absolutely be back.

Everyone who's helped us have been very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are great!!! Best mattresses and pillows we've had on our trip to Portugal!!! When we come back for another visit we will most definitely stay here again!!

Perfect place for a stay in Évora. Rooms are pretty, clean and modern while still inserted in the historical centre of Évora. Breakfast is great with a mix of continental breakfast and some regional dishes as well. Everything very tasty. On the down side the pool area even though not bad at all is not on par with the rest of the hotel, as it was not as clean and there is a lack for chairs for the capacity that the hotel can take. Would definitely recommend to someone visiting Évora.

Top notch. Great hotel with a parking lot (a bit far from the hotel, but at least there is one!). It's just perfect for the purpose: a night in town. Our room was small, not enough place for our two luggage.

Stayed here one night, wished I stayed more. Loved everything about this place. The rooms clean, the beds comfy, the pool on a hot day refreshing. The complimentary breakfast in the morning wonderful. Also tried the restaurant Bar 1556 for dinner, recommend it, great meal. And the service here also amazing, such kind and helpful staff. This hotel is also near the city centre, so very walkable, with lots of sites and shops nearby.

Fantastic hotel. ▪️ The staff is more than friendly. The room was very, very comfy and cosy! We felt really good right the first moment we entered the room. ▪️ Large free choice of beverages in the room. ▪️ The breakfast is small however there’s everything we wanted/needed. ▪️ BIG plus for the automated curtains! ▪️ Free parking (in a 3 minute walking distance) I wished we stayed there a bit more!

This was my favorite hotel of our 12 day trip in Portugal. Location is perfect, a little different routine on the parking, but safe & free! Loved the layout of the room and bed was very comfortable. The staff was attentive and accommodating. Breakfast was included and great with a menu of eggs or omelettes made to order. Hotel decor is beautiful. I would highly recommend!

Imani Country House is a stylish countryside hotel located in Portugal, offering a peaceful escape on 13 hectares of grounds with resident donkeys and sheep. The vibrant hotel features expansive gardens, a bright restaurant, and two outdoor pools for guests to enjoy. Surrounded by cedar trees and century-old gardens, the property offers seven guest rooms, creating a perfect picture of tranquility.
We loved everything about our stay -- from the initial greeting in the orange grove to the tour of the property and the follow up when I accidentally left something behind (thank you so much to Nuno and Vera!!!). Breakfast was leisurely and delicious and only having 7 rooms made everything quaint, quiet, and super comfortable, like you were staying at a friends house but had plenty of time and space to yourself. The grounds were beautiful and the decor and art around the property was fantastic -- we loved the cowbell keys to the rooms so much we went to the manufacturer of them (about 30 minutes away) for a little tour and to buy some to bring home. I initially looked at staying in Evora for our trip and I'm so glad I decided to stay here instead - we will definitely be back!
Britt G — Google review
I cannot say enough about this place. The staff, the views, the orange trees, the food... Truly magical and probably the best place we've ever stayed. If you're on the fence, just book it. It's absolutely incredible.
Jenny S — Google review
For our first trip to Portugal, we were looking for something special and boy did we find it. This place is a hidden gem at the end of a dirt road, tucked away among orange trees, with just seven rooms and the warmest hospitality you can imagine. Calling it a hotel doesn’t quite do it justice. It feels far more intimate and personal, like a secluded retreat. We stayed for two nights but easily could have stayed much longer. Everything—from the food to the service, the atmosphere to the facilities—contributes to a unique sense of comfort and belonging that’s hard to find elsewhere. Despite having only a few rooms, the property is spacious and beautifully designed, with two pools and a cozy outdoor area offering stunning views. It felt incredibly private; at times we barely saw other guests, making us wonder how such a peaceful experience was even possible. A heartfelt thank-you to Vera and Antonio, who have been with the property for years and are truly exceptional. Their kindness and care made our stay unforgettable. We’ll absolutely be back.

We had an amazing stay at Imani Country House! The exceptional service, rooms, restaurant, and everything else in this hotel made our experience wonderful. My inner aesthete was delighted! We were fortunate to stay during the blooming of the oranges, and the scent was fantastic! We were also offered the opportunity to pick some oranges from the trees and taste them. They were the best oranges we have ever had! The hotel's restaurant served fantastic dinners that were definitely worth trying. We spent three unforgettable days here, but it wasn't enough time to fully enjoy all the beauties this hotel has to offer. We're already looking forward to our next visit.

Beauitful setting in the country with two pools. Very private and inmate. Service is excellent. Perfect retreat away from the city. Poolside massage was just one of the many amenities.

We had the best experience possible at Imani Country House. The venue is beautiful, comfy and well decorated, the surroundings are special, the staff could hardly be any more friendly. Can't wait to be back!

A peaceful and extremely charming family hotel located in the middle of the olive and orange trees. We stayed there with our kid of 3 and it felt like home thanks to a very attentive and friendly personnel. The food is super good too ! We will come back for sure

This place is very stylish and remodeled nicely, but function is sacrificed for style, unfortunately. There is no easy way to get luggage to your room with dirt, gravel, and very rough cobble stone paths; I had to carry 2 large suitcases on my back. Suite #6 has an open bathroom, with nothing to keep sounds or smells from the rest of the room. Not good if you want to preserve any modesty or privacy with your partner. The only other option is the bathroom in the dining room, which was buzzing with big horse flies. Breakfast was good, as is standard throughout Portugal, but the dinner menu was limited, the same every night, and did not seem to take advantage of all the local ingredients available. Also our steaks were overcooked. Staff is very friendly and the grounds are charming, and the peace and quiet are refreshing, but for the price you can do better elsewhere.

ZOETIC is also close to the main plaza and offers bike hire, making it ideal for exploring Mexico City on foot or by bicycle.
Susana's care and creativity ensure that the beautiful old house is wonderfully decorated. Great bed. Very clean shared bathroom, kitchen and living room. In summer the house must be fresh and cool because of the thick walls. In winter the house is also cool but there is an electric heater so it is pleasant.

This was perhaps the best find of our entire trip. About the basics 1) charming street and location 2) paid parking is in close proximity and free is 500m basically outside the walled town. 3) Everything is spotlessly clean 4) epic scale of kitchen with everything that you can think of considering a backpacking tour or road trip 5) right inside the walled city of evora so basically everything is at very very close proximity. Walking is the best thing here while admiring the beauty About Susana - Wonderful, so warm and a gem of a human being. Period!

Probably the best place I stayed during my 2 weeks in Portugal. Spacious room with AC and comfy bed. Breakfast is very good, a lot of fresh and regional stuff. Best orange juice I had in my life! Owners are very friendly and try to be as sustainable as possible. Location is great, only 10 mins walking from the city center with food parking possibilities.

We had a really pleasant stay at Zoetic. Susanna and Raquel were just great, welcoming hosts! We were given several good tips to discover the sights and culinary highlights of Evora. The room as well as the shared bathroom was absolutely clean. The breakfast was just amazing! We had the chance to try several home made jams (each of them was like a dream), granola and cake. You are also offered different choices of plant as well as dairy milk, juices and tasty bread. The breakfast makes it already worth to stay at least one night at this place when you are in town. We can really recommend this place!

This place is perfect for a relaxed stay. The house and rooms are newly renovated and very clean. Both hosts are very friendly and give you lots of tips of what to do in and around Evora. Plus, it is close to the city centre, but at the same time you have no problems finding a parking space for your car. Highly recommended.

Wow so quiet! So peaceful and so relaxing! I love the animals here! There are horses, donkey and goats! They are so cute! Great place love it here!

Perfect location in the middle of nature, but rooms/swimming pool need some care. Good point is free electric charger for cars. Small fridge will be big plus in the room and some cups to use. During breakfast some items were going pretty fast and was not refilled. Overall nice place but need some more attentive service

Only stayed here as we couldn't book into any hotels in Evora due to a business conference. Absolute gem of a find. Rooms are basic but comfortable and the location is lovely. Surrounded by nature. It was very quiet when we were here with only one other couple. Honesty box for soft drinks, beers, coffee etc. Pool is a decent size and welcome on hot days. Would definitely stay again.

Cozy ambience with the typical Alentejo isolated dolce fare niente feel. Apartments are just good (bit old fashioned) but the central pool and jacuzzi are priceless, especially with kids. Each apartment has its own balcony and table, great for an outdoor meal or tea by night watching the stars. Nice breakfast with home made breakfast and croissants. A few good restaurants 5 min away. I would just make sure apartments have no mosquitos before check in, ours had.

Nestled just 1.2 miles from the picturesque Alqueva Lake, Monte Santa Catarina is a delightful country house that offers breathtaking views of both the serene lake and the historic town of Monsaraz. This charming B&B boasts a spacious living room with a cozy fireplace, perfect for unwinding after a day filled with exploration. Guests can indulge in refreshing dips in the outdoor pool or relax in the steam bath and hot tub while enjoying peaceful surroundings.
Delightful establishment, serenely peaceful and lovely to interact with all the animals there. The owners are lovely and so helpful, the breakfast is tasty and fresh, with local ingredients. Room is spacious and practical. To be super picky, the bed could be a bit larger and not quite as hard, and the pool could be cleaner, but largely minor details on a lovely experience.

Fabulous time ! Beautiful location, very quiet and peaceful. The donkeys and pony was an extra perk! The hot tub was perfect on a cold winter night. Susan the owner was amazing, and provided terrific hospitality, We were so pleased with our stay and will definitely be back in the summer!

What a beautiful place!! Not only the landschape around the house is superb, also the house itself and the rooms are very charmly decorated. The swimming pool was lovely. Suzanne, the owner of the accomodation, is made for this job: she is so friendly and worried about all her guests. Our doughter of 13 loved her animals. Our last day, we could accompany Suzanne while she was feeding them. We really enjoied. And last but not least: breakfast is delicious!!

Fantastic place, run by a lovely couple. Views around are amazing, on one side beautiful views to Monsaraz, the other side the rural Alentejo with wide views all the way towards Spain. Rooms are decorated with style and the outside area is otherwordly - lounging and relaxing by the pool or strolling around the animal enclosures. We feel it's all done with great love & care. When we want another escape to Alentejo we know where to go!

Hotel
Lavradores Boutique Guesthouse is a charming and well-appointed accommodation in the beautiful city of Evora. The guesthouse offers spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated rooms with thoughtful amenities such as mini fridges and microwaves. Situated in a central yet quiet part of the city, it provides easy access to the attractions while ensuring a peaceful environment for a good night's sleep. Guests can enjoy the use of an excellently equipped communal kitchen and savor a delicious breakfast served sustainably.
The staff: Catarina was the person that I saw. She was incredible and helped me out and answered all my questions . Her English is very good. She and her staff provided sumptuous breakfasts and on my request delivered the night before. On the last night, which was a Saturday , I didn’t get my next morning breakfast by 9:25 pm. I messaged this guesthouse after like 10 pm. Joana replied right away and she promised to have my breakfast before 8 am. She delivered as promised . The staff really tried hard to please the guests. The room : so big and beautiful with windows in two directions. A large round table for my breakfast and meals. A microwave oven, a small fridge and coffee machine. Breakfast: Best of the best with lots of choices. WiFi : worked great. Shower: Hot and furious:) The common kitchen: Is enormous with napkins, silverware, cookware and even filtered water dispenser Summary : Highly recommended Location : For me, the hotel on the other side , the opposite side from the bus station is a bit far . Also the streets are paved with stones and leaving the bus station you have to pass a cemetery, up hill to the center and the downhill .It won’t take much to damage your luggage. It is better to take a taxi and there are always a few taxi there. But going back to the bus station , you will need to call one or ask the hotel staff for help. This however is not a big issue as the distance is only 1.1 mile There was so party going on the first night after 11 pm but I was too tired to be bothered by it. The other 4 nights were so tranquil

Located pretty close to places to visit in Evora, this guesthouse was so cute! The room felt airy, clean, and pleasant, and it came with helpful amenities such as an electric kettle and a mini fridge. There was also a common outdoor eating space, as well as a kitchen with useful appliances. The staff was helpful and friendly, and even though we've visited a few places in Portugal, this has been one of our favorite places to stay!

Nice area near the college, a bit quieter (much appreciated for a good night's sleep) but still within the city walls. One of the best guesthouses I've ever stayed at--they really thought of everything, from a welcome bag with crackers, coffee, and a couple small things, to the room layout. Even though there's a shared kitchen the rooms still include mini fridges and microwaves. Also the interior design is stunning, and the rooms are very large.
Emily B — Google review
Do yourself a favour and stay here when visiting the beautiful city of Évora- you will get a warm welcome, a beautifully decorated and very, very clean and spacious room; the use of an extremely well appointed communal kitchen and a very tasty breakfast, delivered in a sustainable fashion in glass and paper containers. It's located in a central but quiet part of the city, just a couple of minutes walk from the centre. It's also very reaonably priced, a total gem! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Very nice hotel. Old building with modern and elegant furniture. Staff is friendly and helpful. Parking is available around the hotel at 70 cents per hour (during day hours) free after 19:30. Another free parking at less than 200 metres is available. Many public areas are available including a kitchen and a terrace. Valeriana Exclusive GuestHouse, located in the heart of Evora, is just a short walk from popular attractions like Praca do Giraldo and Evora Museum. The guesthouse offers a rooftop terrace and garden with complimentary Wi-Fi access. With only seven bedrooms, the hotel provides an intimate atmosphere with upscale interiors featuring high-quality linens and fresh flowers. Each room is named after minerals and chemical compounds as a nod to the building's previous occupants who were pharmacists.
This place is great and right in the middle of everything you'd want to do in Evora. The rooms are nice, nicely sized, and the staff has been really helpful. You can't go wrong here.

We loved our stay here! Unique hotel with excellent service. We did a junior suite and the room was very large with a separate sitting area. The location was right near the main square, free parking in the garage, big box breakfast (we ate from it for breakfast and lunch, lol!). Also, loved the rooftop terrace and honesty bar. Would definitely stay here again!!

A perfect place to explore Evora. Great location. The hotel used to be a family home and only has 8 (I think) hotel rooms now. Lots of attention to details. Great decor. The owners were doctors/ pharmacists so they kept a lot of charming old apothecary items on display. The rooftop terrace is great to watch the sunset while sipping a glass of wine. They have an honesty bar or you can bring your own drinks. Remodeled in 2017. They offer garage parking (free) just a short walk from the hotel. They give you very detailed instructions on how to get there, how to get in and out. We didn't have problems at all.

Amazing property and the best management team possible. Parking was difficult to find because Hotels.com did not send the directions but the hotel staff actually walked with us to where we had parked our car and rode with us to the parking garage. Location is perfect to all attractions, restaurants, etc and rooftop lounge is a big plus. Breakfast were very good. Rooms are small but very clean and worked well for a brief four day stay. Can’t say enough good things about the place.

Superb guest house right in the centre of Evora. Dario , who seemed to be the manager, was so friendly. He has a real passion for his job and had plenty of time to socialise with us. The free parking was about 50 metres down the road and was a real bonus since parking in Evora is restricted . I can recommend this guest house. Cannot fault it in any way.

Lovely small hotel. Travel light as no lift but staff helpful. Great location. Double check room size as ours was a bit tight. Boxed Euro breakfast included with o.j. coffee, fruit. Johanna and Dario were especially helpful. Dario went out of his way to help with a personal issue and check that all was well. Johanna was a constant help and even found us after checking out with a small mirror I had left behind!

This place is amazing. It is beautifully decorated, extremely clean, quiet and yet you are right in the middle of everything. There is a lot attention to details. Also, very important for those of us traveling by car ... They have a garage. From what I heard they are fully booked all the time so it might be hard to get a room ... but considering the current situation we were lucky. Or host was super nice and helpful. Breakfast was very good and plentiful.

Great location, has parking nearby... and staff will even help carrying luggage from garage to your room. Room was very spacious and nice. Shower only (in our room) but quite big. The Chapel of Bones in Évora is a small 16th-century chapel adorned with the bones and skulls of monks, creating a haunting yet thought-provoking atmosphere. Located near Giraldo Square, it stands next to the famous Igreja de San Francisco cathedral. The chapel's walls are decorated with motifs created from the remains of 5,000 individuals collected from overcrowded cemeteries at the time.
Amazing place. The only way to describe it in my opinion is where death meets art. I was surprised the energy was so great in here and I loved the energy in this place. There is a museum attached and a view points as well which are part of your ticket. 3 floors in total to check out. In my mind priced very cheap for just the chapel of bones by itself. This is worth a trip to Évora from Lisbon alone.
Luke L — Google review
A fascinating and eerie place in the heart of Évora! The Chapel of Bones is covered with thousands of real human bones and skulls — built by monks in the 16th century to remind people that life is short. It’s both spooky and beautiful at the same time. Definitely a must-see when visiting
Nissanka R — Google review
The chapel lined with bones is a truly unique experience that makes you reflect on the transience of everything. So many lives lived, so many stories that will never be told... The nativity museum is really interesting too, especially seeing how it was interpreted by different cultures. Would definitely recommend a visit!
Aleja R — Google review
I think it's a bit expensive for what it is. It's small, but really a unique chapel. The chapel is super crowded. Wasn't really interested in the Nativity Scene museum; the Chapel is what's up. I had Black Sabbath playing in my ear buds which was perfect so if you're a fan of metal or goth, this is for you.
Scott C — Google review
Very interesting ossuary. I paid in cash based on what is in other reviews to avoid frustration. 6 euro entry seemed a little much considering how small it is, but it's a tourist attraction so. The use of the bones is very interesting and used in nice patterns.
Toni S — Google review
Small chapel with all the walls covered with human bones, skulls and different parts. There is also a mummy. There is also a small part upstairs with a balcony for some views. While it is indeed impressive and something unique, in my opinion it is overpriced (6€ for 20-min visit) for the tiny room where the bones are. Everything else just feels like a filler.
Trachemysta — Google review
Spooky? It’s a place to visit, if you’re in town. The history behind and its fast visit not boring, and you can see also Nativity scenes from all around the world showcasing different art styles which were lovely to see.
David M — Google review
This is a great place to see. It's not very big. Maybe take a few minutes there but you can stay as long as you want. Along with visiting the chapel, there is also 2 floor level to visit including a balcony that you can look out on the small square center. If you park in the square, parking fee is required with a max of 4 hrs. If you park outside the square, no fee for parking. After visiting the chapel, the church is connected right beside it. You can visit, no cost. Not much in Evora to do, however you can make it a day trip just by walking around and exploring. Lots of unique streets to explore. Restaurants are great and lots of places to buy souvenirs

Not far from the city of Évora, the Quinta is in a quiet place from the main road. There's a dirt road stretch before the gate. The Quinta is pretty large. There are plenty of rooms, The one I had was for a single. It was really cozy, clean and comfortable. There's free water, cake, tea and coffee at any time. I spent 4 rainy days with my friend and out two dogs. The quinta is peaceful, the little house was clean and had all we needed. The several dogs that live in the propriety were friendly and come to meet us everyday. The black pigs were a delight to watch, so cute. There were fresh cake and tea available in the main house. I really enjoyed a moment in the library by the fire place. The owners were kind and friendly and also, fully enjoyed a morning walk near the propriety. Evora is about 7min drive so it’s a great location. Recommend

Best to go of you have a car as it's 5 minutes out of town. Nice clean apartments with kitchen. No central AC/Heating. Wonderful gardens and animals. Please note they have two really big dogs that might frighten some people but they are very sweet and friendly. The owner Wim, is a very nice man and good resource for the area. Very reasonable rates but also note they are cash only so hit the ATM before you come. Nice place to stay in Evora.

My husband and I loved staying at Quinta do Cano. We spent one night in the Quintinha Alentejana apartment which had a fully equipped kitchen. It was very comfortable and was perfect for our needs. For breakfast our hosts provided a nice spread of meats, cheeses, fresh bread and delicious house-made quince and pomegranate jams. The gardens around the house were lovely and it was fun to interact with the dogs, pigs, and donkeys. Quinta do Cano has a very relaxed atmosphere and it would be nice to stay there for a few days, using it as a base to explore this area of Portugal. They also offer packages with special meals for Christmas and New Year’s which would be great for a family celebration. Highly recommended!

What a magical spot, just a few km from the center of town but a tranquil world away. Your hosts Monique and Vim welcome you into their home/hotel with warmth and grace. The setting is magical, gardens, a magnificent pool, common rooms and a view of Evora in the distance framed by Roman aqueducts. You better like dogs, and who wouldn't as three Irish Wolfhounds and their smaller cousins Dachshunds attend to your every need. We can't wait to return and we will!
Ian E — Google review
Really nice position: in the countryside but close to Evora. The pool is perfect during the hot days, although not been particularly clean. The price per night is fair, while the breakfast a bit overpriced. The beds are super comfy but get ready to be awaken in the morning by the dogs. It's okay, it's a farm, but you have to know this. The staff has been really nice, we found only Monique a bit grumpy, maybe because we arrived at 9.12 (the check in is until 9) but the place isn't the easiest one to reach. It's a very characteristic place that resounds the personality of the owners. An interesting experience, but not a particularly local one.
Agostino B — Google review
My husband and I stayed for two nights. Lovely home and large grounds. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The seven dogs are great, as dog lovers we enjoyed them very much. We particularly liked the library/bar room. The reason we gave 4 stars and not five: pool was unclean (dirt on bottom and surface), low water pressure in shower and took a long time to heat up, and their info book said that water bottle in room would be replaced each day but this did not happen. Only minor annoyances during overall good stay. We would recommend!

Worst night of my road trip. The walls are very thin so you hear the neighbours a lot, talking, coughing etc. If they use the ac/ heater, their external condenser unit is right behind YOUR wall and bed. The one behind room 5 was very noisy, making it impossible to sleep even with earplugs (see video). Also, the mattress was a bit hard, and there is no hottub in autumn (the photos on "booking" may be misleading). In a nutshell: the garden is pretty but I usually sleep better in bnbs for half the price.

We had a lovely stay at Casa Zanzibar. It’s a little off the beaten track, but was pleasant, clean, and worth the price. There was a little mixup, and they not have a crib available for our baby, but with some ingenuity and hard work, they were able to come up with something that was safe and very effective for him. The staff speak English, French, and Portuguese. The property has a beautiful central garden That’s well-maintained. There is a small pool that looks very clean, but we did not have time to use it. The owner has , some ducks, chickens, and guinea pigs on her property as pets that our son enjoyed.

The Carrança Lounge bed and breakfast in Evora is a perfect choice for families looking for a comfortable and welcoming home away from home. The owners are incredibly friendly and responsive to emails and messages, always making sure that everything is ready for guests when they arrive. Dinner on site was the best meal of our trip, with excellent food matched with great service. The two dogs who live at the bed and breakfast are gentle giants who were great with our two children.
Wonderful place! Out in the sticks along a bumpy road on a farm. The lovely Shabby Chic decor and the AMAZING BREAKFAST are worth the visit alone!!! Homemade Scones, homemade jams and Granola, fruit salad and much more!! Perfect location for Evora, perfect hostess. We stayed in the 2 bed 'cottage' with kitchenette. I would love to stay again some time.

The perfect home away from home in Evora thanks to incredibly friendly owners who made our stay memorable and perfect. The owners are so friendly and incredibly responsive to emails and messages and had everything ready and perfect for us and our two 2-year-olds. Dinner on site was the best meal of our trip and that's saying a lot with some excellent meals. They even briefly watched our boys with their family inside while we enjoyed a few minutes of peace with wine. The two dogs are incredible gentle giants who were great with our kids. The room was perfect for our family and truly felt like our own temporary home. Wonderful breakfast with fresh pastries and fruit as well. I cannot recommend Caranca Lounge enough!

Montimerso Skyscape Country House is a serene retreat that offers relaxation, nature, and tradition. The skilled chef impresses guests with her delectable dishes, enticing them to return for more. The resort's beautiful landscape, tasteful decor, and traditional cuisine engage the senses. The presence of friendly canine staff adds to the excellent hospitality provided by dedicated staff members. This modern hotel provides a peaceful environment where guests can unwind by the pool or enjoy a cocktail at the honor bar.
We had a lovely long weekend here and I have to say I’m very impressed with the level of customer service, cleanliness and overall hotel. The staff communicated over WhatsApp, were incredibly responsive and helped us make an amazing plan for our stay - including night time kayaking and stargazing, and a hot air balloon ride at sunrise. The food and bar is very reasonably priced and has a good selection. The only slight feedback I’d reiterate from some other reviews is that the pool could do with a bar/honesty bar closer by, and the overall food could be improved if they really want to level it up a notch and aim more for fine dining. But I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to anyone and will definitely come back and stay again :)
Jason V — Google review
The hotel is very nicely decorated, rooms are spacious, view is beautiful and the staff is very kind. The only downside was that despite being a "pet-friendly hotel" (there is a pet fee), we found out dogs are sadly not allowed at the restaurant or in any of the common areas, which made it slightly more complicated to enjoy.

Relaxation, nature and tradition meet at this peaceful retreat location. Immerse your senses in the beautiful landscape, traditional food and tasteful decor. Immerse is part of this resort’s name and it is not by chance. I am already missing the owners’ pets, aka canine “staff”, who complimented staff members dedicated commitment to an excellent hospitality. Thank you!

A Beautiful Stay with Room for Refinement We had a truly lovely time at Montimerso. The setting is absolutely breathtaking, the views from the pool alone are reason enough to book a stay. The staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The hotel grounds and amenities are good, and our premium room was beautifully designed with exquisite taste and a real sense of calm. That said, for a hotel positioned as high standing, there are a few details that could be fine-tuned to elevate the overall experience. For instance, our private terrace, although beautifully arranged, featured a small green umbrella that felt a bit out of place next to the otherwise refined decor. A minor detail, but noticeable. The pool area, while set against one of the most stunning backdrops we’ve seen, had a mix of sunbeds that didn’t quite match the premium atmosphere. Similarly, the pool bar functioned more as a storage area for pool items than an actual bar, when I asked for sparkling water, I was told to get one from the room minibar. For a luxury stay, complimentary water and a proper poolside refreshment setup would make a big difference. We also booked the Lovescape diner, which sounded romantic and exclusive at €150. While the service, once again, was delightful, the overall experience fell short of expectations. The food didn’t match the price point, with very simple plates and minimal presentation (a few lonely asparagus for a starter, for example), and the wine included was modest. Despite these small points, we do recommend Montimerso. It’s a beautiful, peaceful place with a lot of heart. With just a bit more attention to the premium details, this hotel could truly be exceptional. We left relaxed and recharged, and grateful for the warm hospitality.

Extremely relaxing and peaceful country house with a fantastic view to Alqueva. The included breakfast is plentiful and the dinner is worth trying at least once. The staff is young, energetic and always helpful. The pool is nice but some of the other spaces of the perimeter need to be better taken care of.

We visited Montimerso in June 2021 and it was way beyond of what we expected. From the cleanness to the food to the hospitality to the resort itself, everything was amazing. The owner was there and he is super friendly and he really made us feel special. We also had our dog with us, it was perfect to walk around the property every day, great views and nature. One thing I noticed is that every single staff member we came across with, was outstanding. Kudos to the whole Montimerso team, hope I will see you again ✨

(Translated by Google) We were very warmly welcomed by Mrs. Paula. The breakfast was good, the pool was nice, and the rooms comfortable. However, we would have preferred a day at the pool listening to the lawnmower. There was a brief explanation around four in the afternoon, but it started early in the morning. We understand that the outdoor area needs maintenance, but since we're only there for three nights, it would have been better to let them know it would be an all-day activity and we could have gone for a walk. Thank you anyway for the rest of your days of rest, best regards.

It's a shame they don't serve meals at the property, other than breakfast. The breakfast is reasonable, but could have more variety. Paula, the staff member, is exceptional, always very approachable and available for any questions. The same cannot be said for Marisa, who, for the second year in a row, has given me the same welcoming attitude, leaving much to be desired. She likes to call guests "strangers." The property should have someone supervising after the staff leave, as something serious could happen and it's not easy to get in touch with the owners.

(Translated by Google) It's not a "Monte Alentejano" in the truest sense of the word, but it's a typically Alentejo hotel: comfortable, safe, and homey enough to let us sleep with the bedroom doors open, as our daughters slept in a different room. The pool and outdoor space are also very important for enhancing the space and are very well maintained. Access is good, but in my opinion, the exterior gates should have a small, pedestrian-only door. A remote control is always required to open the gate. Breakfast is absolutely standard. It's a good option for the area, very close to Estremoz and Borba.

Your search is done. Just book this place! It is really perfect. Our room had charm, cold air-conditioning, all the amenities you could want. The central courtyard is amazingly quiet and the pool is the best spot to spend a hot siesta. But the real reason to chose this place is Celia. She just adopts you during your stay. It starts with the most amazing breakfast, with fresh bread, cheese, and fruit bought that morning. Oh, which pair perfectly with your personal containers of home made preserves her Mom makes for you. Fork drop! And if you need anything, like dinner reservations, not only are they made for you, but the owner knows you are coming and has been warned that he better have the English speaking waitress serve you. If you planning a visit to Dark Sky, Sharish Distillery, any of the local wineries, Castelo de Monsaraz, or anywhere in Alentejo, pray you get one of her 4 rooms.

Over the centuries, it served various purposes including as a mosque during the Moorish period and later as a market and slaughterhouse.
Free entry visit, it is actually located in the middle of a small square behind the famous Cathedral. No need to wait for taking a picture, no need to buy a ticket. There’s also viewpoint pretty closeby , so you can see Alentejo landscape.

A Remarkable Surprise in the Heart of Évora Our visit to the Roman Temple of Évora turned out to be one of the unexpected highlights of our trip. After exploring the site, we sat just south of the temple at a small nearby bar, enjoying a cold beer and a glass of wine in the sunshine a perfect setting to take in the view. The temple itself, with its beautiful surroundings and remarkably well-preserved columns, carries an incredible story. It’s hard to believe it’s still standing after centuries of history and change. The fact that it’s completely free to visit made it feel like even more of a hidden gem. Honestly, it felt like a bit of good luck that we stumbled upon such a special place in such a relaxed and charming way. Absolutely worth a visit if you find yourself in Évora you won’t be disappointed.

A stunning and beautiful piece of history, this is one of the iconic sites that can be found within the city and is one that you need to visit when here. It is really impressive and great to walk around and appreciate.

Beautiful and historic place in the heart of Évora! The Roman Temple — often called the Temple of Diana — is almost 2000 years old and one of the best-preserved ancient monuments in Portugal. Great spot for photos, especially at sunset! You can really feel the history here. Highly recommend visiting
Nissanka R — Google review
Probably my favourite place to visit in Evora. Iconic stop. Ancient Corinthian columns from the 1st century, right in the historic centre, free to see any time. You must visit it while in Evora
Ryan T — Google review
Had more fun driving in the tiny streets of Évora! Temple is great. Easily accessible and free to view/walk up to. No tickets needed - only if you want to go inside the church, and that’s up to you. Awesome to see something like this well preserved and still standing.

This seemed a little out of place walking through town to stumble across, but it was magnificent to see. We were fortunate enough to walk by at night with it all illuminated, very impressive! These are the interesting things you can find when travelling through old towns in Europe, makes it very unique.

Very nice, though not so much to see around. The garden area has a nice view.

The Agua de Prata Aqueduct, also known as the Evora aqueduct, is a stunning stone structure designed by Francisco de Arruda in the 1530s. Extending for nearly 9 kilometers through various parts of the city's historic center, this well-preserved water canal offers a picturesque path alongside it. The aqueduct showcases an elegant blend of old and new, with its rough stone construction seamlessly integrated into the modern town.
Visited August 2024 Always interesting to see the Aqueducts through out Europe...they are a testament to the engineering strength of those who came before us! Massive structures requiring massive energy to put in place. Always Impressive
Kirk B — Google review
It was okay. Nice to see it and walk in to main area. See houses and street built in between. Arch gets smarter n smarter as u go up n up
Orlando M — Google review
During a quick evening walk, we stopped by the Água de Prata Aqueduct, and it was truly an impressive sight. Unlike many famous aqueducts, this one wasn’t built by the Romans but dates back to medieval times around the 1530’s if I’m not mistaken. It’s a remarkable piece of engineering that still stands proudly, stretching across the landscape with a quiet elegance. While it doesn’t appear to be lit up at night (which is a bit of a shame), it’s absolutely worth walking past, especially to appreciate its scale and historical significance. Even with just a short visit, it left a strong impression simple, grand, and a wonderful reminder of human ingenuity.
Duncan A — Google review
Fine looking aqueduct nothing really special compared to other examples through Europe. More impressive things to see in the town but it is a quick stop right outside the walls and you probably have to drive under it anyway to get to the rest of town. The way houses built into the arches inside the wall is a little cool
Pratul M — Google review
It is a really old aqueduct, built back in the 16th century, over 480 years ago! The aqueduct brought water to the city from springs about 18 kilometers away. Part of this structure runs underground, and part is visible as large stone arches, between which houses and shops were later built. This place is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it is one of the most famous attractions in Évora. If you come to Portugal, you should definitely visit this amazing historical place! 💧🇵🇹
Nissanka R — Google review
This is a very cool structure running through the town. It's hundreds of years old and as it runs right through the centre of town, it has been incorporated into many of the houses and shops, rather than it being torn down. Definitely an amazing site to take in as you explore the town.
Jeff E — Google review
These aqueducts are an iconic piece of history and scenery for Evora and they are a fantastic site to visit. They provide a stunning piece of history and photographic opportunities.
Matt H — Google review
Ancient Roman aqueduct in Evora that short walk from the Roman temple ruins. Say 10 mins walk. No need to buy tickets. Quite unique to see as it was built into the houses and residential areas. Worthy a visit. Cobble stones pavement areas. Be careful as you walk.

Nestled in the heart of Estremoz, Casa do Gadanha · Turismo de Habitação is a charming boutique hotel that beautifully blends urban sophistication with rustic charm. This 12-room ancestral mansion has been thoughtfully transformed to offer guests an inviting atmosphere, complete with bespoke ceramic tiles and locally sourced amenities. The property features a delightful restaurant serving an intriguing menu designed for sharing, along with two tasting menus that showcase the region's culinary delights.
Staying and dining at Casa do Gadanha was a wonderful and delightful experience. All the dishes are incredibly refined and deliciously prepared. The eggplant, in particular, stood out for us – a true explosion of flavors unfolds on the palate. Our room was beautifully maintained, bright, and atmospherically decorated in a modern style. Breakfast was served at the table – compact, yet made only from the finest ingredients. What also touched us deeply was the hospitality we were met with. The host, Ruben, radiates a uniquely positive energy and heartfelt warmth. This extends to the entire team. Because we enjoyed our stay so much, we spontaneously decided to extend it by another night.

This place is simply perfect. There aren’t enough words to describe the entire experience. I started with the tartar and had the tuna with grilled cabbage for my main course. I skipped the wine and the wonderful bread and butter so I could save room for the delicious strawberry dessert. The restaurant is super nice, and everyone is lovely and attentive. It’s not cheap, but I’m glad that’s the case. It’s supposed to be exclusive, and I hope it remains that way. I hope they keep up the great level of service.

Incredible experience. We aren’t normally all day hotel people, but here we found it hard to leave. Incredible spacious room, and the food was too good to go anywhere else. We had breakfast lunch and dinner here and no words can truly describe how good everything was. Innovative and fresh dishes, everything made in house, from freshly baked cinnamon buns at breakfast to the most incredible sourdough and olive oil tomatoes at lunch. We did the chefs tasting menu as well. Cannot recommend this place more.
Sidney M — Google review
Absolutely outstanding — highly recommended. Even my wife gave it a double seal of approval. We first visited in January and were blown away — honestly, it might be the best spot on the entire Michelin list. We tried all the appetizers and shared two mains; we’re usually quite picky, but everything was exceptional. It was so good that six months later we made a two-hour detour just to dine here again. Stop reading reviews and go experience it yourself!

My husband and I got married in Portugal and were fortunate enough to stay at Casa do Gadanha with our friends and family to host our farewell cocktail. I couldn’t be more grateful we chose the stunning town of Estremoz and this beautiful hotel for such a lovely and intimate event. Estremoz is one of the most charming Portuguese towns I’ve ever visited, and Casa do Gadanha is a gem, elegantly designed, with beautiful rooms overlooking the town square. The rooftop, where we held our cocktail, offers breathtaking views of the entire town, and the hotel restaurant (one of the best in Portugal) was absolutely fantastic. The food was superb. Chef Rubén is a pro. The service was impeccable, warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly. Our friends and families were delighted by both the property and the town during our stay. A heartfelt thank you to Michele, Rubén, Marta, Carolina, and the entire team. We will forever cherish this experience. With love from México, Gerardo Echeverría

A-mazing castle 5 star experience! Very comfortable, quiet with 360 degree view & fabulous food & drink. We loved coming during shoulder season with less crowds, impeccable service & some cost savings. So much history in this part of Portugal! The Pousada chain of accommodations is not to be missed!!!

The largest role it played during the 17th century, as an important back support during the defence of independence. The same kind of support the Estremoz Castle's forces provided during the 19th century. Due to the modernization of Estremoz (20 century), part of the walls were demolished.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights. Really enjoyed the experience and how unique a place this was. But the best part was the staff - so warm and welcoming! This is both the hotel and restaurant staff - all wonderful.
Trevis C — Google review
We really enjoyed our stay at the Pousada Castelo Estremoz. It’s in the old town of Estremoz on a hilltop: you drive through an arch and over a drawbridge, up cobbled streets to a square where there’s free parking. The hotel certainly has a wow factor: it’s like stopping in a museum with many historical items and paintings set in grand rooms. Our room was actually quite small and the bathroom tight but had everything you needed although getting things like extra drinking water was not so easy. We ate in the restaurant - nice food and certainly grand if not a little formal for us. Breakfast was quite simply amazing - so much choice and all really good quality. I loved our stay - the odd quirks of staying in a historic building are massively outweighed by the amazing experience and I would highly recommend the hotel.

Fountain
Giraldo Square Fountain is located in the central district and faces the basilica of St. Andrew. It was named after Giraldo the Fearless, who defeated the Moors in 1165 and became the governor of Evora. The square used to be a Roman market and was later renamed in his honor. The fountain originally sourced water from an aqueduct for public use in ancient times.
The famous square in Evora . The fountain is so beautiful and in full working order . It was built in 1570 . It has 8 spouts representing the 8 roads leading out of the square! A beautiful spot with no tickets needed and no waits to see it .

A cute small square in Evora. It felt like the main square in town. Many places to eat or drink something. I would recommend to drink around the Square, yet pricing of the restaurants nearby did not seem fair, honestly. You can enjoy the square, visit the church, and continue your way to the famous Cathedral.
Ekin — Google review
We stopped by Praça do Giraldo in Évora on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The square was bathed in full sunshine, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made us want to linger. Tables and chairs were scattered around the square, so we grabbed a small drink and just sat back to take it all in the historic surroundings, the gentle buzz of people passing through, and the elegant Geraldo Fountain right at the center. It’s a great place to pause and enjoy the rhythm of the town. Highly recommended for a leisurely stop, whether you’re sightseeing or just looking to soak up the local atmosphere in a beautiful setting. A lovely moment in Évora.

A beautiful historic hotel, lots of ancient wall paintings. A nice yard and a garden, huge and cozy public area. Room and lines are good, only one thing is the bed for 2 is not very big.

Perhaps the most beautiful hotel I have ever stayed in. Historic, and full of character. Excellent breakfast, but the restaurant is currently only open for dinner at the weekend. Bars are open, but not staffed. Ring for service. Nevertheless, we enjoyed using the beautiful public areas, as it felt like our own private palace. A friendly receptionist recommended local restaurants and coffee shops. The pool was a most welcome relief from the 40C June heat.

Exceptional pousada. Historic convent with wall and ceiling frescoes to discover everywhere. Spacious rooms, generous restaurant with cosy bar. An outdoor pool that makes your stay a pleasure in hot summer temperatures. Very friendly and helpful service. Very good, extensive breakfast buffet with lots of regional products – very tasty! A visit that is sure to leave lasting memories.

A bit oldish. Needs a refurbishment in the bedrooms. Good AC. The bathroom really needs to be modernized. Low water flow.

We were given a room with the Ducal Palace view as what was recommended by the receptionist upon check-in. It was nice though, but our room looks totally different from what you see online on their website and also in booking.com, check photo reference below. However, it was a great experience. We were able to relax. The hotel was very serene, and it was not crowded. We also enjoyed their game room. Tried their bar. It was the most relaxing place to stay as it was raining so hard that time. The service was also good. Staff was friendly. We loved the breakfast. The hotel is very unique with pretty lush gardens. Overall experience was great. I think this is the best place to stay if you decide to visit Vila Viçosa. And it’s also surrounded by nearby attractions, and restaurants as well.

Casa Dona Antonia is near the Monsaraz castle, within the walls of the old town, perched on top of a hill. The view from the balcony or the terrace is absolutely incredible! Especially at sunset. Normally, when I book a room - in a hotel, B&B, whatever - is because I need a good night sleep. Well, that didn't happen here. On one hand, the bed squeaked a bit, but that's minor. The major impediment came from the bell and its strikes. Not only the hourly strikes (at half hour it's only one strike) counted the hour (imagine 12 loud strikes at midnight), but it did it twice, for some unknown reason. The bell is about 50m from the rooms in a straight line. Breakfast is included. No hot dishes, such as eggs, unless you count the toast or some hot buns. Carlos is a good host, we really liked him. Very helpful!

Amazing views of the Castillo de Arraiolos from our room. The room was small but comfortable. The staff is amazing and offered a delicious selection of breakfast items consisting of cereals, yogurt, fruits, bread, typical sweets, and tea or coffee. The casa has a small but nice pool to cool off as it was nearly 32 degrees for us when we traveled near the end of June. Rooms could be cooler, but we opened our door to the balcony on the second floor and had the evening/night breeze cool us off. However, keep in mind that you can hear people talking from the restaurant across the street, passing cars, and barking dogs if you choose this. Otherwise, the window does am excellent job at blocking out all the street noice.

The physical location, allowing car parking near, a place to load and unload the luggage and be near of all historic places, only could be a 5 star. Congratulations.

Evora Inn Chiado Design was a great location just off the corner of Plaça Giraldo next to the Banco do Portugal and opposite of the Church of Santo Antão. It is very centrally located to all of the sites of interest as well as shopping and restaurants. Very modern furnishings with a great view of Plaça Giraldo. I advise all to take a walk through the town at night to see some, but not all, the monuments light up like the Roman Temple, Cathedral, and Plaça Giraldo. Many restaurants and bakeries selling local dishes. The rooms were very fashionably designed but the beds were somewhat uncomfortable. It is difficult to navigate the streets since all streets are one way and no local parking unless you find street parking (which is all pay meters with in the old town every 4 hours). Public parking is free outside the city walls which is best near the aqueduct. The street noise can be somewhat disturbing at night if your not used to it, but was tolerable in my opinion. The night view from my room to the plaza, and the great pricing compensated for the noisy street noise and uncomfortable beds. What a view!!!

We booked one of their beautiful little houses for 2 nights but decided to stay longer because of the perfect location, the tranquility of the village and overall just the relaxed atmosphere! This really is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the calm of the countryside and explore the beautiful surroundings and ancient cities and villages like Evora and Monseraz. Margarida and Ricardo (brother and sister) who created this oasis are the perfect hosts and make you feel really at home. The restaurant was just open and a recommendation to try the delicious Alentejo dishes! Thank you for a perfect stay Margarida and Ricardo. We will be back!

This is the most peaceful country- comfortable casa accommodation 20 mins from Evora. Margarida and her family host and they are superb. They renovated some old homes and the elderly villagers got new digs, and The town was saved from extinction!. It has a church, minimercado, a wonderful pool, great place to bring your dog and go on walks and bike rides. Delicious breakfast delivered to your door in a picnic basket! Plus Margarida surprised me with candy and cookies and a bottle of red wine and a big Valentines heart which was very thoughtful! I’m so impressed with what her family has done here and it should be supported. There’s a nice town about 10 minutes away that has three restaurants. If you come out to Alentejo by all means stay here!

(Translated by Google) **Excellent stay in the heart of the village** We stayed for a weekend in May to be close to one of my daughters' wedding venues, having booked four houses/apartments in the same area — all of them surprisingly spacious, with generous areas, high volumes and very comfortable rooms. The cleanliness was impeccable, and both the reception and the support throughout the stay were always friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were varied, well organized and proportionate to the number of guests. One of the highlights was the soundproofing of the apartments, which ensured total tranquility. The pool area, although not very large, proved to be welcoming and adequate for the maximum capacity of the accommodation, always transmitting a calm and well-kept atmosphere. I would also like to highlight the large and safe patio, with closed gates, ideal for those traveling with children — they were able to play freely in complete safety. Everything was clean, organized and well-kept. I have no negative criticisms to make. The only small suggestion would be to modernize the TV equipment to allow the use of applications such as Netflix, and perhaps improve the internet speed. Even so, we were able to enjoy the weekend without depending on these elements. We found, somewhat surprisingly, an electric car charger just a few steps away. **Conclusion:** 5 well-deserved stars. We felt truly welcomed and had a very pleasant time. I highly recommend it. Recomendo vivamente.

It would be a detail that wouldn't make a difference if there weren't so many people in the accommodation. We had around 20 people and the space was small for so many people. I felt uncomfortable in the pool. We went looking for peace and we didn't have it. We also thought that the bungalo we stayed in should have a little more privacy. The space is very beautiful, the bungalo is impeccable, we were very well received but it lacked the silence and tranquility that was promised and that the space had to offer but as there were so many people we were unable to enjoy that peace or the space. We were probably unlucky. Cheguei a sentir me desconfortável na piscina. Provavelmente tivemos azar.

Situated just outside a small village called Arraiolos, Villa Extramuros is a contemporary guesthouse with stylish rooms and terraces. Perfect for enthusiasts of modern architecture and interior design, this luxury accommodation offers a peaceful escape in the countryside. With its minimalist aesthetic and an abundance of contemporary artwork, the hotel provides stunning views of the surrounding area.
Gorgeous architectural property in the countryside. We arrived during the big April power outage in Portugal. Our hosts were absolutely charming and had made dinner for us, as there were no other options because of the power failure. So sweet! We loved the scent of orange blossoms in the courtyard. The entire property encourages relaxation and tranquility. Exceptional experience!

We spent three days in the villa at the end of June. With Villa Extramuros, the two hosts have created an incredibly beautiful, inviting and finely curated oasis with great ambition and feeling. Spacious rooms, wonderful views and fine details. Breakfast and dinner in the courtyard were enchanting. Around the house, garden and pool you can move around undisturbed and like at home, that's what makes it so special.
Matthis H — Google review
Villa Extramuros’s architecture has a strong sense of place, using local materials that blend beautifully into the Alentejo landscape. The interiors are stylish yet comfortable, with a clear emphasis on quality design and craftsmanship. We enjoyed relaxing among the olive trees and exploring the surrounding region—Arraiolos and its tapestry traditions were a highlight. During our stay, an unexpected heatwave in May made the pool especially welcome. The very generous, freshly prepared breakfast each morning was excellent—and often meant we couldn’t have two meals a day! It was the perfect place to chill after a hectic Lisbon!
Pauline E — Google review
Staying at Villa Extramuros was extraordinary and incredibly chilled. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this place is a rare gem, an architectural masterpiece set against the stunning backdrop of the Alentejo countryside. The design is striking: bold, modern, and seamlessly integrated into its natural surroundings. Every angle and material choice feels intentional, sophisticated, and deeply inspiring. If you are an architecture buff like me then you will appreciate every corner, angle and perspective of this place! But what truly sets Villa Extramuros apart is the hospitality. The hosts, Francois and Jean Christophe, welcomed us with genuine warmth. They have created a space that feels more like a private, curated experience than a traditional hotel stay. Their attention to detail is evident in every corner, from the meticulously chosen interior design elements to the way our room opened up to breathtaking views of the landscape. The food was another standout for us and served with deep care - it was simple yet exceptional. Fresh, locally sourced ingredients, including some from their own personal garden were prepared with elegance and care, served in an atmosphere that makes every meal feel special. Whether it was a relaxed breakfast in the courtyard or a thoughtful evening spread, every bite was a testament to their passion for quality and comfort. Service throughout our stay was impeccable: attentive without being intrusive, personal without being overbearing. There’s a genuine care here that’s increasingly rare to find - it’s clear that the Francois and Jean Christophe take real pride in offering an experience that’s as memorable as it is meaningful. Villa Extramuros is more than just a place to stay - it’s a destination in itself. A perfect balance of design, authenticity, and hospitality. I can’t recommend it highly enough and look forward to returning.

If you're planning a visit to alentejo I recommend a stay here. It is incredibly serene, but the location makes it a perfect base camp to explore the region. Francois has curated a perfect space. Jacques provides a wonderful balance for breakfast and the dinner, if you book it. The only drawback of our stay was the air conditioning. It was much too hot in Evora for it and the room was a bit stuffy. We asked Francois for a fan and this solved it!

A cleanly decorated house, with only the essential details to enjoy a stay in the total peace and quiet of nature. It has several pleasant common areas for guests. A small library well stocked with interesting books. The room had a wonderful view of the countryside, as far as the eye could see, nothing but nature. The room's porch has comfortable furniture and even a bed to enjoy a nice late afternoon or a starry summer night. The breakfast, served by Mrs. Teodora, was delicious. Homemade seasonal fruit juices, homemade jams and jellies. A freshly baked cake, still warm. A wonderful place to rest. I will definitely come back!

I arrived late on a Friday and was welcomed by Teresa and Nuno with rare warmth. Since then, I've returned countless times. The friendliness of the hosts, the rustic simplicity of the rooms with comfortable beds and immaculate linens, the pool at the perfect temperature overlooking the Alentejo plains, the thoughtful breakfasts, the magical sunsets, and the serenity of the Alentejo make Quinta da Soneca an experience that's always perfect, always different. Casa Azimute is without a question one of the nicest places I have ever stayed at. Danny & Andy are the most welcoming owners, giving the extremely well designed B&B a warm soul with an extremely professional touch. The yummy & healthy breakfast and the warm sunsets only round up the picture. The whole house is equipped with stylish & high quality furniture, the beds are super comfortable and you will not get many chances to shower with such a nice view again. Also, don’t miss the chance of getting a massage to complete one of the most relaxing stays you could have.

Casa Azimute is definitely the best and most baby-friendly B&B we have ever been to! From baby bed to baby bath and nappy changing mattress, everything is available. The quietness of Casa Azimute, the surrounding garden and spectacular views of an extremely well designed house will let you forget about your daily routine and life. Waking up to the sunrise and distant sound of animals and bells will be dearly missed. Danny and Andy are the perfect hosts for an unforgettable stay in the Alentejo region, providing us with everything we needed. If you haven‘t been here yet - book your stay as soon as possible!

(Translated by Google) It was the space that made me choose Casa Azimute, a modern, minimalist architecture, integrated into nature with a decoration that doesn't forget the materials of the region... And imagine what it would be like to wake up with a wonderful view of the Estremoz castle! Danny and Andy, thank you for the warm welcome you gave us, your friendliness, availability, authenticity, joy, tranquility, and your open smile at all times. It was only two days and the best compliment I can give is that I felt at home as soon as I arrived. Danny e Andy obrigada pela maneira calorosa como nos receberam, a simpatia, a disponibilidade, a autenticidade, a alegria, a tranquilidade, o sorriso aberto em todos os momentos. They are perfect in everything they do, in terms of organization, decoration, cleaning... I have been to many rural tourism places in Alentejo, but in my opinion there is still nothing that can match the comfort we felt in this place. One of the rooms where we stayed has the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in, superb. What we took away from this "retreat" of almost 4 days is not only the beautiful place, in Alentejo we found others that were equally well looked after and decorated, but also the warm way in which we were treated and made to feel welcome. We will definitely be back!! It is definitely worth spending a few days here!!
