Great service, awful food. I really don’t understand the great reviews. If you are a steak lover, order something else. We were sold on the “salt boards”. Steak was completely bland, basically is suppose to get its flavor from the cut and a bit of salt flavor from the salt board. Meat was incredibly chewy, visible sinew throughout the entire cut (either a horrible butcher or sous chef to allow that to even happen). Venue was cool, but ate inside because of heat, open kitchen was very cool to see. Waiter and manager were both very nice. Sides were very tasty as was the sangria. It was the meat, the meat was a complete disaster. Seasoning goes a long way, as does a decent butcher!

Great location, but the food is not so good. Meat seamed to me like it was frozen several times. Desert - if you’ll buy the same cream brûlée at supermarket- probably it would be better. The price of a good restaurant, but in fact food is like in canteen.

I can only speak about the food and only good things. The main courses are very well prepared and tasty, and the desserts are just the cherry on top.

One of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. They forgot our order entirely, and after a long wait we had to chase it up ourselves. When the food finally arrived, it was badly cooked and far too salty to eat. To top it off, our waiter stood at a table near us loudly complaining to other customers about not having enough staff, instead of focusing on the service. Truly unprofessional and disappointing — we will not be coming back.

If there is negative ratiing i will give them negative 3 and that is even me being generous. I don’t usually leave a comment but this restaurant is worst. They forgot our order, waited for more than 1hour and the other waiter who didnt took our order informed us they forgot our order. I have to say ORDER 3 times did i??? Bad experience in Setubal. Prices didn’t Match the service and food. The cuttlefish i ordered came very salty and so hard like Rubber. This is an honest unbiased review. Crap waiters worst food and please don’t go here. Even their Rose wine is low-quality. Don’t be fooled with the ambiance. Rude and Feeling entitled. NEVER AGAIN.

The food was good but the service was terrible. I asked for a spoon,never came! I asked for a beer and also never came!! Also, no paper in the toilet. For the price you pay,you deserve to be treated in a better way.

The atmosphere is nice, but food was not good. Especially if you are a meat-lower and wanted a nice steak this is not the right place for you.

I was looking forward to our dinner at Xtoria after reading the reviews and realizing that it has a Michelin Bib Gourmand rating. The menu looked very interesting as well. I made sure to make a reservation a week before our arrival to Setúbal. The service was friendly so we thought we were off to a good start until we received the first dish. There was nothing anyone particularly liked, everything was so bland. The taste (or the lack thereof) was in high contrast with the elaborate description in the menu and the nice plating. I enjoyed the tiger prawn in my dish but that was about it. I had to apologize to my partner and our friends since I was the one who picked this restaurant. We did not even want to order any desserts. It is very unfortunate because the vision is there but the execution fell really short. I am giving 2 stars due to our high expectations set by the Michelin selection.

I would give 6 stars plus the Michelin. Starting from the reservation via phone, the lady was so nice telling me she only had a table close to the door (but still nice) since was a last minute booking. All the personnel speak English and could explain in details all the food coming from the tasting menu (5 courses/60€). I really suggest to try it, and their local wines. If you add to a delicious food also courtesy and an elegant but familiar contest, you have this restaurant. Can’t wait to try the octopus! Thank you, Martina

One of the best restaurants I ever dined in. Let’s start with the place. The restaurant is decorated with taste. The lady who welcomed us was so professional giving us what we need as info about the menu. Smiling and calm it was really nice to discuss with her. The food is just perfect. Perfect balance of flavors and textures. All the dishes were so good. I highly recommend this restaurant for a perfect dinner in Setubal.

The food was so good. interesting combinations you are not sure that work but do. for example a dessert of cheese, white chocolate and cuttle fish ink crumb. Delicious. The service was professional, explaining the dishes. we will try to go again on this hol.

It was a rare moment when my husband and I chose the same restaurant without any discussion. We emerged from a narrow street onto a building decorated with flowers, and to our pleasant surprise, it was this restaurant. Beautiful, delicious, atmospheric. This is a place where it's pleasant to sit and immerse yourself in the present moment, where time takes its linear course. We felt like we were floating. Thank you for the Setúbal red wine, for the duck and orange salad, the beef cheeks, for the Portuguese olives and bread with butter.

It was such a good experience. Food is great, especially octopus and cuttlefish. Stuff is very polite and helpful, easy to communicate. The atmosphere and design are nice and comfortable. Plus working hours are very sufficient. Recommend to visit 🙂‍↕️

Whimsical ambiance, friendly service, and good food! Sem Horas is a winner! We’ve been meaning to try this spot since we came to Setúbal a week ago, and we finally stopped by for dinner tonight. The atmosphere is incredibly magical and delightful. I loved the tapestry canopy, mismatched glasses, low lighting, and table decorations. The ambiance is the best part of the experience in my opinion. The service was attentive and efficient too. The food was solid and beautifully presented. I especially loved the chocolate pie and veggie board! The garlic shrimp and ceviche were tasty, but they tasted a little fishy to me, which makes me think the fish wasn’t the absolute freshest. Maybe I’m wrong? Overall, a wonderful experience! I’m very happy we dined here while in Setúbal.

Met up with friends, we sat outside and that was lovely. The food was fantastic, very different options which was appreciated. We had our small dog with us and it wasn't a problem at all. Great place, french vibes, wonderful food!

We ended up in this town by chance basically, and one of the restaurants that popped up straight away when walking around was Sem Horas. We sat inside at the window, all the waiters + the owner were so nice and welcoming, hence we knew we were in the right place. Great atmosphere, amazing decor well thought in detail, stunning cutlery, amazing service and most of all great food! We had a delicious dinner and it definitely contributed to a beautiful day around Portugal! I would definitely recommend this place!

Amazing local restaurant. The staff is superB. If you are in Setubal, this is a must have space. The fishes are superfresh, very tasty and, and... AMAZING! The speciality of the restaurant is Salmonette (Red Mullet). This is a local fish. Free parking is within 100 meters from the restaurant. In the front of it, you can have paid parking zone, but walking 1 minutes to the free parking is not a big deal...

Very good and fresh seafood and fishes! I love the tuna belly! Didn’t have such good quality anywhere in Portugal yet but here. U can also request to cook according to your liking so no overcooking! Small cuttlefish in the ink, and fish roe were also grilled to its perfection! Dessert are all home made and very special. We had the fig in egg cake and aqua dent on top of sweet potato pudding.

Great fresh fish assado style, I just chose two, ass to be seen on the pictures, ome was flacky and juicy, one was firm and juicy and they were cheap... tasty!

Food was good, however very very expensive (at least 30-35 euro per person only the fish). I also suggest to carefully read the balance when they weight the fish in case of any mistakes.

The high quality of the fish and grilling, stated by other reviewers is probably due to the owner and father of this family-run business, the guy doing the grilling, having been and maybe still is a fisherman. The red mullet I particularly like as it comes with the fish’s liver sauce separate so you can taste if it is to your likening. The locals arrive for lunch at one o’clock so sometime before is recommended. This is not a cosy romantic eatery by any means and you may be distracted by the variety of ongoing conversations about you. The verandah has only 12 places so you must book if you want a table there. Desserts may still be the domain of the ladies of the family but I’m not sure.

Not sure if its the palette we are typically used to but we found everything here just alright. The curry lacked flavour and was like no other curry I've had before (even compared to curries in states, and other Asian countries). it was rather cloying after awhile. fish soup was pretty good tho with the essence of the fish captured. choco Fritto was well done but some of the chips tasted a bit bitter and might be slightly overcooked. generous portions tho! Service was normal. not crazy amazing like what others mentioned in the reviews. there were flies in the restaurant which was slightly annoying. A lamp to get rid of the flies might be a good option.

We had a great time at Tasca da Avenida—their Polvo à Lagareiro was absolutely amazing: perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The staff and owner were very friendly which made the whole experience even better. We’ll definitely be coming back!

We were there with 6 persons for dinner. Even without a reservation, we were able to get a seat! But it's better to make a reservation. It was very busy. The food was excellent! The fried cuttlefish is highly recommended! The service and staff are fantastic!

We really enjoyed our dinner at Tasca da Avenida. Great service and food: we had choco frito and arroz de mariscos which was very tasty. We finished our dinner with Chocolate mousse, also really good with the different combinations of sea salt, olive oil, pink pepper and lime zest. Definitely recommended!

We had a wonderful dinner here with our 2 yo daughter. We felt REALLY looked after. They normally dont make bookings after 7:30pm but were happy to assist us as we were coming from Troia by ferry so couldnt make it before. We settled for the tapas, and loved the bolinhas de alheira (alheira croquettes) and the gambas com alho (garlicky prawns), salada de choco frito (this is a really generous cuttlefish portion so do share amongst a group if you re not big fans like us) and finally the pica pau. The chocolate mousse was just amazing at the end! They have the normal one and the “experience” one where you can combine it with the local olive oil, salt, lime and pink peppercorns. The service was wonderful & the staff extremely friendly. Couldnt recommend more. Note: if you re tired of the Troia Marina restaurants, this is a wonderful local place. Not your tourist trap at all, well priced & yummy food. Not pretentious at all. Its a 15 min walk from the Port but a good way to see the main downtown of Setubal. The ferry works around €9 euro per person for return. The ferry is running mostly every hour - check locally depending on season.

This is such a lovely restaurant. It is something you should try if you are visiting Setubal. I recommend making a reservation as the restaurant is small. Their food is consistently good. I always opt for the mixed seafood dish without rice but have tried the seafood rice too. The cuttle fish is always great here and so is the risotto!

everything was fine and dandy until the end when the bill came and was divided into 5 and each had 39 euros, but my colleagues wanted a breakdown of the voucher so that everyone paid for what they consumed and not to divide it into 5 because each settles the voucher, which what was tried 2 times, but it didn't work. which in the end the head of the hall came with another voucher for 222 euros, that is, with 22 euros in addition, which on the collected vouchers made a maximum of 200 below you have pictures. butter was put on the bread...etc, which the first time were from the house. But on the end food was very good and tasty

The best meet ever! Brasílian stick was an amazing experience, have to try. Very professional and kindly service. Ambient great, cozy decoration. Everything was a perfect. Warm recommendation for who like to eat meat. Price is also good, not too expensive. Even restaurant was full and we didn’t make a reservation, they got quick a table for us - thank you so much! We had an amazing dinner at Carnes do Convento. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, with the feel of a high-end, intimate U.S. steakhouse. We were lucky to get a same-day reservation and were graciously seated at 10:00 PM—they honored it with a great attitude and made us feel genuinely welcome. The service was top-notch. Our waiter, Samuel, was polite, attentive, and spoke excellent English—something that’s not very common in Setúbal. He made sure our table was always taken care of. The food was outstanding. We tried tri-tip, entrecôte, sirloin, and several sides—everything was perfectly cooked and flavorful. The variety of meats (including venison, wild boar, kangaroo, pork, and chicken) was impressive and executed flawlessly.

Well worth the hype. This place is sooo busy but the staff still remains gracious. The cuttlefish is a really nice, chewy but meaty texture. Paired with the salad and fries was really delicious. I recommend this place.

Quick service and an attentive waiter. The space is traditional, spacious, and well-lit. We had the Choco Frito and veal steak, both were excellent (fish slightly better). For dessert, we tried the Doce de Bolacha, a biscuit dessert crushed and blended with cream. It’s tasty. Prices are reasonable, offering great value for money.

This restaurant is great. My friend brought me here. We arrived at 19:00 on Monday afternoon. Some people were already seated, but there were still some empty seats. Later, all seats were full. You should know that this is Monday, not Friday night, which shows that many people like this place. Next, let's talk about the food. The choco frito is delicious. I was so hungry that I kept eating it. The portion of his dishes is very large. For the two of us, we were very full after eating a large choco set meal. But I have to say that if you keep eating choco, you will get a little greasy in the end because it is fried. I suggest you order some other dishes to go with it. Although the decoration is not luxurious, I suggest sitting outside to eat so that you can see some scenery of the pier. It's a very good restaurant. I will recommend it to my friends, and the price is very affordable.

My favorite spot every time I visit Setúbal! Casa Santiago serves the best Choco Frito in town — crispy, flavorful, and always delicious. They don’t take reservations and it’s always busy, so arrive early. You might wait over an hour, especially on weekends, but it’s 100% worth it.

Fries are frozen- very bad No sauces except small packages of ketchup and mayo of bad quality for which you pay for. The Choco Frito is quite good, but that is about it. For a place that has a 2 item menu, it really lacks the quality, while the prices are quite high for what you get. I would have expected them to be masters of choco frito, with fries and a good sauce to go along, but no. Only the cuttlefish is good.

Very friendly staff and it was great to hear their story. The food here is very authentic. It has fishes that are from the deeper sea level such as Beltfish (about 300m deep) . This place is cheap and a must try. The appetizer that are given in the beginning aren't for free. So make sure you tell them you don't want it if you don't want to pay.

Very good value for the money as each dish complimented with a few things like boiled potatoes, green beans, migas, salad, etc. The choco Frito (fried cuttlefish) is big, served with French fries and a little bit of rice. The waiter speak perfect English and super friendly. The grilled dourada is very fresh with crispy skin. Highly recommended.

This is not a fancy and expensive restaurant like the ones that you will find in the city’s main street. This is a typical local Portuguese restaurant with a cosy space, homemade food, nice people and cheap prices. They cook the best Fried Cuttlefish (Choco Frito in Portuguese) in the area and they already won the local prize for the best “Fried Cuttlefish” several times.

We tried "Espadarte de cebolada" (swordfish with onions) and "Espadarte de tomatada" (swordfish with tomatoes) and the dishes are superb and delicious. Highly recommended

Here you get grilled fresh fish with authentic Portuguese side dishes for a very good price. The fish you can choose from the display outside and it's salted and grilled at the outside grill. Plenty of space inside and outside. Canteen style furniture outside in the alley. Service is ok. Value for money is outstanding.

Nice neighborhood restaurant. We came as part of a tour and had the fried cuddlefish. It was very well prepared and delicious, also it's a local favorite as we saw a lot of them while touring the nearby market. It was simple food but prepared perfectly. You could also see into most of the kitchen from the dining room.

Nice food, with some interesting dishes I haven't seen in other places. The oysters were fresh, the fried shrimp entreé was delicious, the duck livers ('iscas') tasty. The fried cuttlefish was good and the tuna steak was perfectly cooked. The white wine sangria was very refreshing. The only bad point, and the reason for not giving 5 stars, was that service was slow. The servers were very nice, but I suspect the restaurant was understaffed for the amount of customers present.

Bruno welcomed us with such genuine warmth. He even created a seating area for my wife and I where one didn’t exist just to make sure we could be seated. Alexander provided impeccable service throughout our meal, and Fernando was equally attentive and kind. The hospitality alone was unforgettable, but then came the food: without question, the most delicious we had during our entire stay in Portugal. My wife and I agree this was one of the most memorable dining experiences we’ve ever shared. Decor e Salteado is truly something special.

I was in the area on a business trip with three colleagues when we came across the restaurant by chance. The food was outstanding, I had the tuna loin and the mackerel timbale on two separate evenings, along with a variety of starters. The staff were absolutely amazing and completely faultless. We had a very enjoyable lunch here yesterday for my friends birthday! Beautiful, stylish place with excellent service and a fantastic selection of dishes, beautifully presented and delicious. Service was personalised and on point, with great wine recommendations. Very much recommend this restaurant.

We had the Duck and Pica Pau, both done in unique ways. The Duck was presented beautifully and in very good portion for the price, while the Pica Pau was juicy and reminiscent of traditional Vovós home cooking. Recommended by a local friend, Suzanna, and will recommend to others for their great hospitality and beautiful cuisine. Thank you for the great meal!

We’re from Ireland and are staying in Setubal with our nephew and partner and had a really memorable evening in this restaurant. Food, wine, staff and atmosphere were all 5*. We shared a few dishes as we weren’t familiar with Portuguese food.. the cuttlefish was amazing 😋Would definitely recommend a visit here

Bad food quality, most of it cold despite the fact we were the first there. Bad service. Good looking from the outside, but terrible open space that reverberates, meaning you end up having to shout to get heard across the table and compete with other patrons for volume. We reserved our table at 19h00, we waited half an hour to be let in, then we were shown our table and half way through the meal one of the waiters pulled me aside to tell me that I had to pay, that I should have paid at the very beginning. I politely said that your staff should have probably told me that before entering and that I'd pay after enjoying my meal, after which he accepted and left, only to come back 5 minutes later telling me that his boss told him that it has to be right this instant. Safe to say I will not be recommending, nor coming back to Dona Isilda. I would welcome a response from the owner clarifying the situation further.

The best buffet around, the price is good for the quality and service your get, the food is traditional portuguese cuisine to the best quality it can be. The service is exceptional especially with the handouts you get through out your time there. The atmosphere is cool and refreshing, with an amazing view outside. Recommend going here if you have more to spend on your budget and want real portuguese cuisine.

Huuuuge selection of good food, really traditional Portuguese dishes. Nice meats and cheeses on offer also. Everything I tried (and I tried a lot!) was really tasty. The bar snacks offered on arrival are nice touch and all flavoursome. Although a lot of desserts on offer, I didn’t find many that appealing. Had a sort of egg white soufflé with caramelised sugar on top, very light and fluffy but also very sweet, didn’t need much to feel full.

Lovely host (owner) and beautiful restaurant. We were passing by to grab a bite but they were hosting a wedding and had a buffet lunch with mostly non veg items. But the host Louis was so accommodating that he went out of his way to arrange for veg sandwiches and coffee and to look for what else he could offer. We sincerely appreciated his welcoming gesture and would definitely recommend you to stop over. See you next time 😊

Food was good, tradicional portuguese based food, like I remember from my grandmother. Restaurant is very nice, clean, bright and a joy to be in. Buffet style. A little pricey but worth it 8n my opinion. And it was quite busy for a lunch time weekday, showing others thought so too.

Well I'm not a buffet person but this was very good. It's super loud and busy but if you're willing to go with the flow you will enjoy the experience.

Situated at the heart of the medieval castle (Castelo de Palmela) is this gem of a restaurant. Everything was spot on: the staff were super friendly & attentive and the food was fresh, delicious, well presented and reasonably priced. The cosy, traditional vibe is in keeping with the surroundings - there's outdoor seating too! The combination of visiting the castle, witnessing the beautiful panoramic views and this brilliant culinary experience makes for a great day out. A rare 5 stars from me - highly recommend!! 👏👏👏

We hosted a reception here with around 100 people the day before our wedding at the pousada across the street, and everything was perfect! The location is incredible, the food fantastic, and Claudio and his entire team are super nice. This was one of the highlights of our wedding weekend, would absolutely recommend to anyone. We also had lunch here previously and the food was was similarly amazing and really great value!

I ate there only one time. The experience was very good. I recommend you to book a table because the restaurant is small but very nice with a lot of wood features for remind you a mountain place or something likes that. The foods were very good. In particular the pork, quejo (cheese) and the “choco frito”. Very good. We ordered also the chickpeas but I don’t recommend them because are normal. Nothing special. The service was very kind and funny. The price is higher than ours expected but not too expensive. Normal. Summing up: -Location: 8/10 -Food: 8/10 -Service: 9/10 -Price: 7/10 If you are in Setúbal (we took a Uber for go there to Setúbal) or in Palmela, you have to go there because It’s very good and also close to the restaurant, there is a nice view. I took my mom here and it’s an easy short walk exploring the castle to get to the overlook and cafe. Excellent service that was so relaxed we stayed for 2 hours! Food and drinks were delicious but the star was our server. Great vibe.

Very good restaurant! Third time we were here and enjoyed every single bite. We prefer to have the bites to share and order multiple plates, but you can order a steak or something like that as well. If you go for the small plates and share the snacks, you’ll be satisfied and you’ll get the chance to experience the variety they have. From meat croquetes, choco frito, and goat cheese with tomato jam, to prego and padrón peppers.

Best restaurant of our time in Portugal. Sergio recommended the best food. Choco Fritos…you have to try!

This restaurant was recommended by my (business) hotel, and I cannot understand why. It was around 21:30, and the restaurant was totally empty. - But this restaurant is still open and it's a good restaurant - I was told. There were 2 young ladies serving, and doing their utmost best. Absolutely not any complaints about them! The red house wine was really good, I must admit. But I s arted to ask myself questions when the " authentic Portuguese beef " was served. Good cuisson I must admit, the egg over it was recognizable as Portuguese, for what it's worth and is this what you are proud of serving it, and in a sauce of grease? Making well prepared French fries even seemed to be a problem here. Then my assumption was acknowledged. The owners and/or related to, started talking and making phone calls in an empty restaurant next to my table. I was astonished! I have no idea what these people are doing in the restaurant business. Probably just making money. Without any affection with the art of gastronomy and hospitality. Overpriced restaurant without a soul.

Excellent place for a great variety of tapas. Only tried a small portion of what the menu can offer but the taste and quality was right on the spot. The restaurant is well located with friendly staff. The prices are on some of the dishes a bit overrated and the wine selection is somehow limited compared with the food offering, but served at the right temperature in the proper way. I strongly recommend it if you want to skip the traditional charcoal fish that any other restaurant in the area offers you.

Wonderful restaurant with great tapas! Even with a scorching summer day, the outside tables were perfectly guarded from the sun and wind, with a mild breeze from the sea reaching us occasionally. The service was impeccable and all employees are very friendly. Many more tapas to try on the next visit (soon!).

Fantastic restaurant! Professional and sympathic staff, the food is exquisite. Portuguese tapas or petisticos with a twist. I hate people that say below average food and above average price, when you are born poor you are always poor of mind. This is what happens when you want to eat like a king and pay like a worker! A worthwhile visit in Setúbal.

We really loved the octopus. Very tender and flavorful. It also influenced our decision to spend more time in Setúbal.

Very cosy atmosphere available inside, and a more open side on the outside with view on the marina. The meat is of great quality, and they still have a veggie and fish options for those who prefer. The starters were also very good, and for the sweet lovers like me, I recommend the pavlova to end on a delicious note. The staff is very friendly and happy to help so there is no way for you to spend anything but a nice moment! Menus available in Portuguese and English.

This place has a lot of potential. The view from the dining area and location is great. Service was excellent as well. The reason for three stars is I ordered my steak medium and you can see by the photo, it was not medium. At least by my standards. I did ask them to cook it a little more and it was still off. My wife's veggie lasagna lacked pasta and had way too much cheese. On a positive note, the appetizers & sides (salad, tempura green beans, empanadas, rice, veggies, mashed potatoes) were very good! You get two very large empanadas. Not your typical size. The chocolate mousse dessert was average at best and said it came with peta zetas which it did not.

Great meat!!!! Don't be afraid of the Tomahack! Tomahawk is your friend 😉 Personal tip, combine the Bolo Absurdo de chocolate with the mouse de caramelo (as sauce / dip for the latter)... amazing! Enjoy 😊

A fabulous local restaurant. Fresh fish cooked either on the grill or in a number of local specialties, plus a good selection of meat options. Fantastic service - the host made us feel extremely welcome and was very attentive. Good to note that the majority of the customers were local. Having had a disappointing and overpriced meal at the Pousada the previous evening, our visit here was a great experience.

Good restaurant for local food, they offer you fresh fish. The stuff is very friendly and a lot of food to chose from. Price is also ok for the food you get. We didn‘t liked that you can not pay with a non-portugal banking card, cash needed is needed if you go there as a tourist.

A Portuguese restaurant for locals that makes you feel like family. The food was excellent and well priced, perfect fish and the deserts were incredible too. Can't get more traditional, tasty, familiar Portuguese food than here.

Simple and honest good food with reasonable price. Ask Idalina, the third generation owner, her recommendations for local moscatel and other wines to go with your meal. I had three simple but satisfying courses: olives and Azeitão cheese, grilled black swordfish (fresh caught locally) and then pillow of the bride dessert. She recommended the purple moscatel and a dry, sparking white wine.

This is a local gem. The lady that served us what absolutely delightful. Her husband is a fish monger and brings the fish and seafood fresh everyday. The food was outstanding, the service was second to none and we felt like family. Great food, great prices.

Quite traditional Portuguese restaurant. The cuisine is simple but the food is really good. They serve fresh fish and meat. Plus there is a great selection of desserts. The service was really nice. The restaurant is kids friendly, they have high chairs, kids plates and glasses and there is a nappy changing table as well.

Checked out this place twice! First time ordered risotto and a shrimp burger. Risotto was incredible 12/10, Shrimp burger had a curry sauce with a very strong taste 6/10. Went again tonight and ordered two risottos, they took almost 40 minutes to prepare and it was watery.. taste 5/10 Came to eat amazing risotto again, but I think chef was different today. Don’t wanna gamble anymore😅

We didn't have much time here, just ordered oysters and shawarma with shrimps. Both were exceptional. The service is very good, fast and unobtrusive

My wife and I took an Uber to Setubal. We moved to Portugal a month ago. We decided to that we needed to take some time out and visit the sea. I originally intended to go to a different restaurant but as we were on the Marina and were near Martroia, decided to go here. On another app, it indicated that the restaurant was pricey but I must admit that it wasn't. It was indeed reasonable and you pay for what you get. So indeed you get value for money. We has a fish samoosa for starter, be careful it is hot (as it temperature hot), boy this was a delightful morsel of deliciousness. I felt like fish and decides to go for the grilled tuna and lime scented rice and a mixed salad. the grilled tuna tasted like a peace of steak and boy it was a delight. The chef knows his stuff. I ordered the tuna "mal passado" which was rare (Which I feel is the best way to have it), and it was on point. This dish is highly recommendable. My partner in crime had the prawn risotto, the loved it. It was creamy, not over done and the prawns was a generous portion. Again another hit. Than came the dessert, we were stuffed tot he gills but had to try their recommended chocolate mousse. Let me tell you about this mousse. It was one of the best I have had in such a long time, My partner actually wanted to dive in and I jokingly said that I would hold her hair back ... the waiter jokingly brought a large spoon so that she can have larger helpings than I would :-). So overall, it was a delightful experience and the food really good. I would have given 5 however, there were very little shortfalls which made me decide on 4. If I give 5 out of 5, the service and food would need to be spectacular. In this occasion, the service, however good, just felt a teeny weeny short. When we arrived, the server went right past us and ignored us as we waited like idol toads, we actually went into the store next door who basically took us to the restaurant. I suppose this was due to the fact that the waiter was busy running off his feet. However, he should have sat us down and given us a menu while he did the run around. I do think that management should have two waiters there as one could not handle everything by himself. He did try his best though. There was another and he was not always there. But that did not deter from our experience which was still awesome. Overall, very recommendable.

BEST. SEAFOOD. EVER! Both food, wine and service was amazing. Visited with my girlfriend on our first night in Sebutal and we just had to come back on our last night in town. Not a cheap place, but compared to the quality the price is very fair and well worth a visit.

Really good seafood! We had some oysters , tuna steak, prawns risotto and one tiger prawn. It was an amazing dinner . Good price and location !

Hello there, do not choose Tábua Marisco 65€. Not worthy. Breaded prawns are brow to much fried. Oysters 3 and small. Boiled shrimp not bad. Shells not tasty. I strongly advise to avoid that from menu. We have pictures to corroborate this statement!!!

Lovely lunch with scenic view. Bachalau Brás, bruschetta, stuffed mushrooms and more were enjoyed. Good service and reasonable price.

Firstly the food was far better than I expected it to be. the tapas style dishes were really nice, well cooked and presented. the view from the restaurant terrace us very good. you can see the long bridge out towards Lisbon. we enjoyed our lunch and there is a 14c castle just up the road giving more spectacular views.

Lovely atmosphere with a spectacular view. Staff are very friendly and helpful and speak abit of English for tourists. The food is flavourful and well presented. I personally loved their apple crumble made with the traditional biscuit from Palmela served with ice cream. They also do brunch.

Cute place with the beautiful view. Most of the dishes we wanted to order weren't available. Kids menu was great. Personnel looked very tired and upset. But overall good experience.

The only thing that saves this place are the views. We went for drinks in the afternoon and the service was not very friendly. I had the worst piña colada I’ve ever tried — do NOT order it. I’m surprised that in a place like this they don’t know how to make proper cocktails

Amazing atmosphere with a breathe taking views, a definite must visit if in the area. However the food was definitely tasty, but portion sizes were lack luster for the price. Still worth to spend a little more for the views.

Service slow; both salmon dishes overcooked; the staff don't smile or engage or look like they want to be there. The location and view is breathtaking and I guess this is taking the heavy lifting of why people go there. The inside is white tables and chairs and, just a personal opinion, it's a little cold and not cosy given the view.

Lovely pit stop to the Blue House that is also tourist office. Was welcomed in and invited to visit the Dolphin Exhibition which was small but mighty and lots great information about Setubul Dolphins 🐬 and Ecological Systems.

Nice tourist information centre with local wines shop, small museum about the local dolphins which we found very interesting, small cafe (most expensive and worst coffee and pastry I have had in Portugal yet, better to go to a local cafe) you can sit inside or outside, both are pretty. Small art exhibition too. Very classy tourist information I have ever been in. Nice to visit. Would not recommend the tourist train outside - audio didn’t work and it was a very bumpy ride! Also didn’t see great spots - better to just walk around yourself.

We had walked by this beautiful building many times and we finally stopped in. It is a collection of many things that were nice individually but they did not quite flow together. There is a dolphin museum, an art gallery, two fancy stores, and at least one restaurant. Everything was super nice, including the people that greeted us, but the Casa was simply not for us. Admission is free.

Very nice place to get advice, rest a while and visit the toilets if you need to. There is a shop selling local food stuff incl. wine, and t-shirts. There is also a small art exhibition for local artists.

It’s a beautiful and stylishly decorated place. Good wine choice from Setubal peninsular producers. To consume on-site is a bit pricey in Portuguese terms though. There is a lovely small museum, explaining on marine life of peninsular.

Nice place where you can get Tourist information. A nice decorated place where you can sit in or outside. In the summer there is live music. A nice cofre shop where you can taste the drinks and specialties of the Setúbal área.

Most of the prices are good, but also some expensive fishes, so don't mix it. Portions are quite big. Waiting lines sometimes are big and you have to be on waiting list. Service was a bit disappointing, as waiting didn't look very clean and not first day. Some things was hard to manage with him but mostly we got what we ordered. For entries was one of the rare times when cheese (goat) was really good from a local market.

Pretty nice experience and a nice view of the sea. The food was nice, not PERFECT, but better than other places I went. The only bad thing is probably he fact we had to wait almost 30 minutes just to get our drinks

This is a beautiful winery/restaurant with relaxing and pleasant atmosphere. The good was well presented by the attentive wait staff. We had flavorful steak sandwiches accompanied by great Portuguese wine, refreshing crisp salads and chocolate mouse/flan/Swiss roll (they probided a variety of seasonings for you to sprinkle on the desserts). Yummy to the tummy 😋

The food was absolutely delicious and creative. From the charcuterie to the fabulous pork tenderloin, it was all fabulous. The service could have been better, though. They never checked on us. Didn't check to see if we needed refills of water or wine. Didn't offer to explain the dishes that were brought out to us. There were no instructions on how to eat the fabulous dessert (it was not intuitive).

Lovely place with friendly service. The tuna steak was very tender but the "bread tomato base" was a bit bland. The tuna might also benefit from a few more spices. The beef was tasty and the highlight was certainly the chocolate mousse with some side spices (pepper, salt, moscatel, olive oil).

I really wanted this place to be good. It's beautiful and service was good, but food was bad. The worst offender was the cod, which was not fresh and had a bad taste. Likely frozen and/or old. We couldn't eat it and had to send it back (which we never do). The pork tenderloin was dry and boring. The cuttlefish and fries were okay but uninspired. The couvert had good dippings, okay olives, but the bread was a day old. They tried to make up for the bad cod by offering another menu item and free wine. As mentioned, service was good. Just really hope they get fresh ingredients and a more flavorful menu.

We went there on a recommendation from someone we trusted and it did not disappoint. The kitchen was just about closed but they were kind enough to make us a delicious plate of tuna on plantain chips. Of course the wine was absolutely delightful and very reasonably priced. Really welcoming place. We were 2, and didn’t reserve, but seemed lucky to get a table so recommend reserving. The fish is all extremely fresh. Oysters were amazing and Sardines melted in your mouth. Big portion sizes too. Would highly recommend visiting if you’re in Setúbal!

The food wasn't good. Ordered beef, and it was like chewinggum. In the beginning, we asked if there were ameijoas but the waitress told us there weren't. During our dinner we saw people eating ameijoas. The waitress wasn't friendly. We wait a long time to have the food at our table while people came after us were served before us.

Both service and food were excellent. We chose an octopus salad for starter and continued with grilled sardines and squid. The whole party ended up at around 50 euros for two people, including both food and several drinks. Highly recommend this place.

Very good fresh fish Slightly busy but worth of waiting!

Traditional restaurant to eat grilled fresh fish. It's perfectly well cooked. There is a queu, on arrival, you need to write down your name and how many people. Waiting time is longer for bigger groups. We were 7 and waited 2 hours but it was worthed.

As a vegetarian I had Leeks a Bras. Similar to Bacalhau a Bras but with vegetables instead of fish. It was really nice, and I recommend it.

By far, one of the best restaurants I ever visited. The quality of the food is like no other, every single bite becomes like an experience of a lifetime!! Fresh and tasty seafood, amazing delicious entries and the best sangria I ever tasted. I will visit again, many mire times again for sure. Well done "O Tavira" .

We took the tagliatelle dish and the crab rice dish. Way too big for two people. We could have taken one only. The crab dish was undercooked and bland. The crab didn’t taste fresh. The pasta dish was basically just butter and garlic, so so salty. We really didn’t like it. Service was OK but not particularly pleasant. We were so surprised to see the restaurant was almost full. Would avoid.

SO GOOD! The freshest fish perfectly grilled, friendly service, lovely location and ambiance across from the park, and reasonable prices. I love the dourada — it’s worth the extra cost to get it by the kilo (but the dourada plate is good too, just not as succulent and *perfect*). 😋

We had a recommendation for this restaurant and it was a disappointment. Big portions, low preparation quality. Pot dishes are way to big for one person and a lot is to be wasted. No one warned us that one pot would almost be enough for the 3 of us! They just let us order food we would not be able to eat (3 pots). All rice or pasta seafood pots tasted the same, rice was way undercooked. Octopus rice tasted like any other fish pot and was full of shrimp. Staff was nice but a bit all over the place sometimes.

The owner was being very persistent trying to make us order an extra dish which was very annoying. The cuttlefish was simply inedible! It was extremely hard, rubbery, tasteless and some parts were burned! It was impossible to eat it. Also, The soup was just average! Then at the end of the meal they told us they didn’t take card payment, which was annoying since we weren’t prepared with cash and we weren’t informed about this at the beginning!

Best octopus and sardines in town, but wait there’s more! The salad is amazing Try the dessert - made by the owner’s mum! Totally recommended

Cuttlefish was hard, chewy, and big parts of it were burned. Got charged 13 euros for things we did not order like bread, olives, cheese, and tiny portions of canned fish. Should have refused to pay that part since we didn't order them (we were surprised they were on the bill at the end). One employee (or maybe she was the owner) kept pushing us to order an extra plate of fish and that was really annoying. Does not accept cash - but will not tell you that until after you ask to pay by card Overall a bad experience and I don't recommend at all.

Super good but expensive flounder (50€ for what looked like 1-1.5 kg whole fish which for flunder is not a lot of meat), nice service, awesome grill that gives charred flavor to fish skin. Venue clean and comfortable but not fancy. No waiting time, everything went super quick. + great fish + helpful and competent staff - fish price is on expensive side but price is known beforehand - no multibanco so have cash on you and plan ahead

"Verde e Branco" is one of the best restaurants in Setúbal for fresh fish. Make sure to get there early on weekends or you´ll have to wait. It is a small place so choose a table outside if you can. I hear that people drive all the way from Lisbon just to eat there. Do note that the fare is fish, boiled potatoes, salad, and a drink (wine, .etc). In other words, they don´t offer meat, aside of veggies or a soup. Deserts are extra but worth it since they are homemade. Personally I order the tuna steak which is very good.

Best fish-only retaurant in Setúbal. Been there for all my life. I’d recommend anything but personally, I always go with “Besugos”, with butter sauce.

This place was fantastic. Our lunch included soup, a variety of main and side dishes, fresh juice and coffee. There were many vegan options, all delicious. The service was very friendly and the man who served us, kindly explained everything in English since we are still learning Portuguese. The cafe is spacious and pretty and close to the market and historic center. I highly recommend this place!

Great food and service! Everyone was really friendly and the food was excellent for a good price - everything for 10.50eur/pp. It wasn't very hot but i guess that's normal when you have the food there to see.

After reading the reviews here, I expected much more. Unfortunately the food did not live up to the hype. Some of the food was tasty but some was pretty bland. The service was great, and so was the music.

If you are a meat eater that I usually am, you may have to change your perspective. I came to eat food that taste fresh and also felt good to my body during and after I digested it. I order the complete set where I got to pick one plate buffet style of all the choices on the bottom level of the cafeteria trays, 4 small pastries, 1 fresh juice, 1 soup of the day and 1 dessert. The food was more than enough. I barely finished the food. The soup was good to eat with the pastries, but the filo pastry with berry compote tasted the best out of my selection. The beet apple salad was memorable. The other foods were tasty/ filling but not very memorable. The chocolate cake was delicious! I had trouble finishing it after all the food I ate, so I enlisted the help of an espresso to balance out the sweetness and speed up my digestion. I was very full, but did not feel tired after eating all the food.

It's the typical portuguese restaurant, great simple food that just makes you happy. The fish was super fresh, cooked perfectly, everything was great. The desert, chocolate mouse was just as I like. Book in advance because it gets super busy, weekdays it's the work people and weekends is everyone else that doesn't have a chance to go during the week. It's not expensive and even if it was I would still go.

We went to this restaurant after seeing a recommendation on a tv programme. Clearly, unless you are very close local, it's not worth. Basic and noisy dinning room. Good fish, but you find the same quality in thousands of other places. Price is not even specially attractive: 50€ for grilled fish for two, half a litre of white wine, one dessert and one coffee.

Among the top 3 restaurants for the freshest and best fish and seafood in Setúbal. Just be ready to wait a long time until you are taken care of when you arrive to get a table even when there are several tables already empty. That was why last time I went and didn’t go back again. That’s is why it also only gets 4 stars and not five.

Away from tourism, this is probably the best restaurant in setubal Town if you love fish, local fish from sado River or Atlantic ocean. Don't come in if you want meat. Only for fish lovers. 5 stars for staff. Affordable prices for wild fish. Will be back for sure. Keep the good work

Burguesa Burger is a great spot to treat yourself to a wide variety of creative and flavorful burgers. Here’s what we ordered: • Cezar Burger • Goat Cheese Burger • Burger of the Day • Soft Drinks Each burger was absolutely delicious, packed with fresh ingredients and unique flavors. The crispy, golden fries served on the side were equally mouthwatering, making the meal even more satisfying. The restaurant was clean, and the service was efficient and friendly, ensuring a smooth dining experience. While the ambience wasn’t particularly remarkable, it’s clear that the focus here is on the food—and it doesn’t disappoint. I highly recommend Burguesa Burger to all burger lovers and will definitely be coming back for more.

SAME! Best description: Food is just about average, nothing standing out with a high price for what you get. Employees just stand there with "poker faces" and are hardly proactive. Unfortunately a place to avoid in the future.

Burgers were really well made, and the fries were very fresh. I am not from Portugal so I don't know if this is pricey, but the prices are much lower than in the U.S.

The onion rings were delicious and fresh.. Burger meat cooked well.. overall had a very pleasant experience and would definitely go again

We will be back with reservations well in advance. They fit us in last minute on a Tuesday. We were so grateful. Nice added details from the salmon in the miso soup, to the subtle truffle flavor of the salmon roll. We got the “Combinado 40” sushi & sashimi board along with a “Hot Special” as a starter. Omotenashi serves high quality sushi in a small, cozy setting. The dishes we tried were all original, a little different than what you already know, but still traditional sushi, which we love. You just have to try it!

This burger is DELICIOUS! Holds up to ANY good burger I've had in the U.S. By far the best burger I've had in Portugal! The "bun" is a cross between a hard roll & an English muffin. Fries were equally delicious. To top it off, the place has a good vibe/decor and the owners are so gracious and welcoming.

The service was also on point. They had the typical Sagres beer but they also had beers from Maderia. I recommend sitting on the back deck if the weather is good.

We saw it was very busy and bustling and with non-touristic appearing folks, and that's usually an indicator of high quality We especially liked it because it's Madeirense. We Just ate the Most delicous Portion of cuttlefish (choco frito). The Portion was big, everything was fresh the Presentation was beautiful and the taste was amazing. We will definately come back. The Service was also very friendly :)

Tasca do Choco serves lots of Choco for the price, but the Choco's batter was very salty. Maybe as finger food, it was designed to get me to drink more beer. I had to drink lots of water to balance out the saltiness. Overall the first few bites were delicious! The sangria was sweet and fit my palate!

The food was prepared fast and it looked really appetising. My order consisted of fried cuttlefish, fries and a salad on one giant plate with a little bowl of sauce. I really liked the fries and cuttlefish, but it tasted overall bland to me. It was very filling, so I could barely eat it all up. This is very much based on my taste, but it did feel like high quality food.

Ok hear me out, never had eaten chicken soup with cuttlefish, but this one was amazing, it tasted like chicken soup but had the little cuttlefish pieces and a few clams inside, a bit on the salty side but it tasted really good and fills your tummy fast. I tasted the fried cuttlefish but it wasn't out of the ordinary and also a bit oily and salty. Overall really nicely priced placed to eat after you just came from the beach and need a quick something to fill you up!

The cuttlefish was good but the fries that came with it were cold. That is however not surprising since we waited 1 hour for our order to arrive. Last but not least the place is pigeon infested with pigeons walking around and eating of the leftovers on the tables even inside of the restaurant.

But as it is the meal this place is known for, it speaks for itself if such a meal is not well fried, dry, served with only a small amount of mayonaise. The service was chaotic, not concerned a lot for customers and we waited for this badly prepared dish for 40 minutes. I feel very sorry for the bad name, such a place does for portuguese cuisine which is simply rich and great- and in so many restaurants the employees take a professional pride in doing their best, but this is not the case..

Incompetence beyond belief. We ordered starters and mains. The starters arrived after 10 minutes. 30 minutes after finishing our starters the waiter told us that our mains were coming shortly. 15 minutes later, still nothing. The waiter then again assured us that the food was almost ready. 15 minutes later again we complained to the waiter who went to check with the kitchen. Turned out that they had forgotten our order and that they would only start preparing it now. The staff was very unapologetic about the situation too, so we left the place, having wasted almost 1.5 hours of our time. Unforgivable…

The place looks okay, but all food was either over fried or of lower quality and super dry. Since the major changes of operations that took place it is no longer up to the standards of former ratings. The service was well but the kitchen did not a good job. Thus for the quality served is doesn't justify the high prices charged. Better options in town for the same money.

We had a wonderful lunch at Taberna do Largo - so much so that we returned for a second time. Staff are very attentive and friendly. Food is absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. This restaurant is an absolute gem in Setúbal. My absolute highlight was the chocolate and ginger cake! My husband was delighted with the choco frito. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Restaurante Taberna do Largo in Setúbal, and it was an experience to remember. Absolutely love this place. We booked for an inside table on Saturday night 7.30 as soon as we knew that we were coming back to Setubal. Such friendly relaxed but prompt service, incredible tasty food in a quirky taverna with tons of atmosphere. The goats cheese and dried fruit with honey is delicious. Drinks are great value as is the food. We ate here for a week so will no doubt be back .

Lunch was great with a few snacks and the restaurant was nicely decorated with very unique collections and displays. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the nice atmosphere.

This is the jewel out of all the tourist spots. Manager is super helpful, conscious of her kitchen and careful with her guests. The food is fresh, which is especially important when it is 43 degrees Celsius outside. Don’t hesitate, stop here for a positive memory of setubal!

What a great place! What a great service! I definitely recommend this place. Food starts at 7:00 p.m. and then it gets full, so if you can't come early you should reserve a table. Food is great, I recommend a mixed share plate for the starter and than they have something for fish lovers, but also for meat lovers. Will visit soon again, exploring the menu up and down. Oh, btw. try the IPA beer. Great taste! Cheers

We ordered a shared plate for two of 3 steaks. And 2 burgers for the kids from the kids menu. The burgers for kids were raw and 2 steaks were dry. The prices are quite high. The atmosphere around the restaurant is completely unattractive. In my opinion, the price-quality ratio is not in line with the quality of the food.

We came here after a beach day, and although off the beaten path, I am so happy we did. The service was attentive and kind, the food was incredible from start to finish, and the atmosphere was quiet and beautiful. Some stand-out dishes included the steak, mushrooms, fries, and pear cheesecake. The food and wine were very reasonably priced. Would recommend.

We had a wonderful meal here. We chose it because it opened at 6:30 when the other local steakhouses opened at 7:30. The steak and sides were wonderful. We paired it with a lovely Portugal wine and had the pear cheesecake to finish. A hidden gem that anyone should visit for a great meal!

We were a party of three and we ordered two sirloin steak dishes along with a rump shrimp skewer. We also had side dishes of sautéed cabbage in butter and rice. The meat was succulent and tasty, and all the side orders were perfect. I absolutely loved the place and will definitely come back again. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great dining experience.

Hidden gem in Setubal for sure! Def a must try if you live or visiting this area. Loved the service so hands up to all staff. The food was perfectly cooked and there’s plenty of variety on the menu if you’re a meat lover. I’d give 10/10 if I could!

Went on Sunday. Top service with a smile. Even at my jokes. Had a lovely entrecote cooked rare and came just how I wanted it. Also my fiancée had flat iron and we both enjoyed the tartar and a salted caramel dessert. Our friends also enjoyed their juicy steaks. Mooooo

You should go here just for this roasted cod in olive oil with crispy garlic...mop the oil with a plate of bread. Jug of white wine. Say no more. Fish was €9.50. Other dishes very good including homemade chips.

The food was really amazing. We had the crab, clams, and a grilled fish (bass) + fries and rice as a side dish and everything was spot on. Highly recommend! We went there slightly before the open time to avoid the crowd and it worked well.

We booked and we had to wait in a line for 45 minutes but honestly the food was so delicious it was worthwhile. The prices are very reasonable and the staff are lovely. My favourite was definitely the fried garlic prawns! I highly recommend and I will most definitely be back!

Very good service and quality

I love this place and go frequently. Sometimes, the fish is a little too oily, but most of the time it is spot- on perfect. The pizza and stuffed breads are also fantastic. It’s a great place to sit and have a great meal, yummy wine, and relaxing atmosphere.

Really great food, fresh & local! Awesome service staff and really fair pricing! Take a seat in the nice, shady area in front of the restaurant and choose between freshly grilled fish, pizza. I can recommend a bottle of vino tinto, choco frito, fresh salad and a grilled fish. And will definately come again!

Service no longer what it used to be. This is place I’ve been returning every time I’m in town for the quality and consistency of their pizza and grilled fish. However, last couple times I passed by this month while vacationing in the area, I’ve noticed the service has been going downhill. Their choco frito is still one of the best in a town known for this specialty, but on my last attempts to eat here we ended up leaving and decided to explore a new establishment - found the service at Solar do Marquês way more pleasant and courteous.

Friendly staff and the food was very good. Scamorza pizza tastes wonderful, choco as well. The meat can be better.

On the 13th of March we had a lovely meal in Kefish! It was through the help of Luiz that we had a wonderful evening and enjoy the food, the entourage and for the kids the amazing Trumpet as a finish. Thanks and we will be back soon. Sorry we did not take a picture of the restaurant but some colourful street.
