Craigatin House is a charming B&B located at the southern end of Pitlochry, just a short walk from restaurants and shops. Housed in a historic stone Victorian building originally built for Queen Victoria's daughter, it has been completely renovated by the current owners. The main building and its annex offer spacious rooms with en-suite bathrooms, such as room no. 6 in the main building and room no. 10 in the annex.
Such a gorgeous setting. The room was so pretty, shower was powerful and the detail on the tea/coffee tray was lovely. The gardens are the perfect place to relax during the day and a perfect distance walk to the town. Breakfast choice was fantastic and great options for veggie, vegan and gluten free, when I asked they gave me all the options. The staff are so friendly and nothing is too much for them. Gary was the perfect host and is so keen to get feedback, which is so refreshing in this sector. We will definitely be back and recommending to anyone travelling to Pitlochry.

We had a lovely stay—the views, gardens, spacious room, perfect showers and cozy comfortable bed were especially wonderful. The breakfast, (breakfast lunch and dinner rolled into one plate)- highest quality, best coffee in Scotland. So peaceful so friendly and that is not the complimentary high-end rare Single Malt Scotch talking! That was especially a treat to relax in the living room, overlooking a beautiful garden with so many hues of green and gold, sipping that little magic potion.👍 Thank you

We had a very relaxing and peaceful time at Craigatin House. The property is in a great location, the bed was comfortable and breakfast was 10/10. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, creating a warm and homely atmosphere. The house has a lounge area with a fireplace and complimentary selection of whisky. Would recommend if you are looking to wind down and get away for a few nights. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable!

Perfect setting for a break away! Lovely old house with modern twists. Our host Garry and his staff were most welcoming. Lovely area to sit in at night and taste a wee whisky 🥃. Only 5 mins walk from centre of Pitlochry would highly recommend 🙂
Anne Y — Google review
Can’t say enough about Gary and his staff. They went out of their way to make our visit memorable. One of our travelers fell and twisted her ankle and they were so helpful and kind. The location is perfect-a short walk to town but a bit off the road and very quiet. Grounds are lovely, rooms beautiful and clean. There is a lovely lounge area where the 4 of us met each evening to talk about our day.. And the breakfast is amazing! Highly recommend.
Liz H — Google review
Stopped for two nights in early September and what a joy this place is. Set in beautiful surroundings with one of the best breakfasts we have EVER eaten. I’m missing the whisky porridge already 🤤 Make sure you take in the circular walk from Garry Bridge through Killiecrankie - keep an eye out for the bungee jumpers on the bridge!! And a visit to Queen’s View for a photo is a must. Great stay on our tour around Scotland. Thanks for a lovely couple of days.
Dan W — Google review
Beautiful place in the coziest town. The staff were so good to us and we felt at home. I wish we could have stayed there for longer. Will definitely come back.
Malaika K — Google review
Very clean good sized room. Sadly I didn’t try the bed till 10pm after my wife was asleep. Mattress was unserviceable , with the padding collapsed. I had a really uncomfortable sleep. Breakfast was delicious. I found the staff mixed, on arrival we were given an average greeting by the young lady( apparently we booked very late and used booking.com which was a problem). Though at other times , like during breakfast the staff were great. After raising the mattress issue, the staff were very apologetic. I suspect this isn’t the first time a complaint has been received though . Apparently some rooms have new mattresses, but I could not recommend this place based on the game of Russian roulette in whether you get a decent mattress or not .

What a lovely place! The rooms were comfortable, and the breakfast was superb. Wonderful hosts and beautiful grounds. Easy walk to restaurants and shops. Wish we could have stayed more than one night.

Leslie and Ronnie are wonderful hosts who could not be more welcoming. I stayed two nights for work , I had a small single room which was adequate for what I needed , there are other larger rooms which would suit a couple or maybe longer stays. The room was spotless and then bed very comfy. Breakfast was cooked to order and they go out of their way to ensure you get exactly what you would like, veggie and vegan customers well catered for too! The location is perfect for exploring beautiful Pitlochry, their garden is wonderful too if you’d like to enjoy a seat in the evening sun. I would highly recommend and hope to stay again, thank you 🙏🏻😊

We recently stayed at the Derrybeg B&B en route to the North Coast 500. Excellent throughout. Friendly welcome by the hosts. Clean, tidy and well appointed room. First class Scottish breakfast. Attention to detail faultless. Best Bed and Breakfast accommodation that we have experienced and would not hesitate to recommend and would use again. Mick and Karen Curry.

Had a fantastic stay, greeted with a warm welcome from both Lesley and Ronnie they couldn’t do enough. Fantastic breakfast, I loved the fruit salad. The room was fantastic and I had the best nights sleep. Location was perfect to walk to town. Garden with summer house beautiful to sit in!

My sister and I spent 2 days in this outstanding B&B. The owners, Lesley and Ronnie, made us feel so welcome, such a lovely couple. Our room was perfect, very comfy beds and exceptionally clean facilities, has to be 10/10! Will most definitely be back, we love Pitlochry and have now found the perfect place to stay too. Huge thanks for a wonderful experience with you.
Lorraine G — Google review
Absolutely delightful stay for the Highland Games. The garden is beautiful to sit in, and there's a little garden cottage you can hang out in as well. The rooms are comfortable, and the breakfast is absolutely delicious. The salmon and eggs on toast was a favorite of ours. Easy walk to everything in Pitlochry. The hosts are friendly and there's a very comprehensive info binder in each room. Would stay again.
Meg D — Google review
The Derrybeg was the perfect place for our quick visit through Pitlochry. Lesley and Ronnie made us feel right at home as soon as we arrived, and gave us plenty of recommendations to make the most of our stay. Before we departed, Leslie prepared us an amazing home cooked breakfast, while Ronnie served the food and chatted about our plans for the week. 10/10 would stay again!

Beinn Bhracaigh is a Victorian bed and breakfast with panoramic highland views. The rooms are upscale and there is a bar with 50 malt whiskeys.
My husband and I spent one night here and we both wished we had stayed longer. The B&B was beautiful and comfortable. The breakfast was the best of our entire trip. The porridge was unforgettable (with Whisky)! The honesty bar is not to be missed with local whisky, gin and beers.
Ginna B — Google review
This place is excellent. The hosts are very welcoming and helpful. There is great attention to detail - the home is stunning. There are lovely communal areas including a lounge area with lots of board games, an honesty bar which has an excellent selection of drinks, and a nice garden area with seating. Breakfast was perfect with lots of choices (especially the pancakes) and the breakfast room has a beautiful view, as did our room. Beds were very comfy and the place was spotless. The area is very peaceful but still only a 5/10min walk into the town. We definitely hope to return!
Claire S — Google review
We have just returned home from a 2 night stay at Beinn Bhracaigh and we were amazed at the quality of the guesthouse and the service. Tom was absolutely fantastic as an host and offered advice regarding some local places of interest. We were most impressed by the breakfast, which was included in the price. We had a vast selection of meals and drinks to choose for breakfast as well as bread, cereals, fruit and yoghurts to help ourselves to. The quality of the cooked breakfast was fantastic, I chose the small breakfast both mornings which was more than enough and kept me full till an early dinner before the Enchanted Forrest. My husband had the pancakes and crispy bacon on the first morning which he thoroughly enjoyed. There were plenty of tea, coffee and hot chocolate supplies in the room as well as additional supplies in the shared lounge. There were plenty of board games and dvds to borrow in the lounge also. They have an honesty bar which is well stocked with plenty of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks, all they ask is that you record whatever you take and you will be charged for this on check out. The guesthouse itself is located just a 10 minute walk from the centre of Pitlochry and the Enchanted Forrest pick up point. I would highly recommend this guesthouse to anyone considering a trip to Pitlochry.
Nathan P — Google review
This was such a lovely BnB. It had such thoughtful details. Cozy yet modern. Tasteful and comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious. The hosts were extremely helpful and full of tips and good advice for nearby outings and meals. We had a beautiful large room with a lovely green view of the hills. Best mattress I've ever slept on in a BnB. There were such nice cozy rooms for guests to curl up with a book and look out onto the gardens and hills. It's a 10 minute walk down a hill into downtown Pitlochry, so if you have trouble walking up a gentle hill, this may not be the right spot for you. Otherwise, everything to recommend it and very patient, kind, friendly hosts.
Sylvie B — Google review
Ben Bhracaigh is an absolute gem of a B&B. Tom is an exemplary host, genuinely engaging and a really nice person. He went out of his way to make sure everything was perfect and had a raft of useful information. The guesthouse was immaculately presented, clean, comfortable and quiet. The views over the valley are stunning. It's about 10min walk to town where there's a number of good eateries. The breakfast options served at the property were a great set of choices and the food was delicious. Overall, well recommended and glad we had the pleasure to stay there. Hope to be back at some point
Brian P — Google review
My boyfriend and I had a fantastic 2 night stay here. It was the perfect place to start our trip into the highlands - comfortable, safe, within walking distance of the town, and the owner was so welcoming and kind!
Sydney W — Google review
Best Bed & Breakfast in Pitlochry! The rooms are so elegantly designed with the perfect view and comfy bed. Nothing is missed with a teapot and choices of coffee , tea and hot chocolate when you feel peckish in the middle of the night there's a chocolate mallows as a touch. Nothing is missed ! The array of choices for breakfast has everything that you could possibly want and the chef did a great job . The owners Tom andAdam are so friendly and the trust they give the guests makes you feel like your home too . They have the honesty bar that I haven't heard of in any place where you can help yourselves and just write down what you have consumed so if you feel like having a night cap it's available and you can enjoy it there or the beautiful lounge and just settle up at check out . We got so lucky with the weather and got to enjoy sitting at their garden. Everything about this place is beyond perfection .So near the town and the tourist places like the dam and the Queens View .Great place to hike .

It's an amazing lodge. Wonderful staff, friendly and helpful. The room with the balcony was brilliant.Large, comfortable, and best sleep ever. The shower was large and easy to work better than the rainfall ones. Breakfast was great. There are plenty of choices. Would stay again ,very peaceful and relaxing.

Loved everything about it here. Our room, the breakfast, the hosts, the location…everything. Highly recommend this lodge. We stayed in a room inside the main house and no detail was overlooked. We felt welcomed the moment we arrived and had no complaints during our stay. This was our favorite place we stayed while in Scotland by far.
Erin C — Google review
This beautiful lodge sits on a knoll just outside of downtown Pitlochry, so it was an easy walk into town for dinner. Our room was pleasant and comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and there was plenty of hot water for a wonderful shower after a long day hiking. The bathroom products were some of the best I have ever used and contained sea kelp so I felt very relaxed after my shower. The breakfast was amazing. I had the French toast and bacon (it is more like American ham, but even better). Staff is very helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend this for a nice place to stay in Pitlochry.
Sharon C — Google review
Beautiful setting close enough to town centre (10 minute walk) but far enough away to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and spectacular views. Our car never turned a wheel throughout or 2 night stay. We booked a superior room which was huge. Lovely decor. Warm and cosy and beautiful bathroom. Enjoyed the small touches - bathrobes, coffee machine, biscuits and bottled water. Room was spotless. Use of lodge itself was only for breakfast. Lodge was beautiful.. Breakfast was exceptional. Huge amount of choice. Staff attentive and friendly. A lovely picturesque setting to start your day. We would certainly describe this as a luxury 5 star accommodation and experience. Will certainly book again for any future visits.

We chose Craigmhor Lodge & Courtyard to spend for our anniversary due to it's highly rated reviews. I must say it completely exceeded our expectations from start to finish. With complementary parking, a short walk from the centre of town, it was the perfect place for our 2 night break. On our welcome, staff were very friendly and showed us to the room. Also making great recommendations of food locations. We were lucky enough to have our room upgraded to a Master Suite for our stay. The room was very spacious and kept a reasonable temperature despite the 30°C heat! This was achieved by leaving just the windows open. The doors outside to the patio, offered a peaceful area to relax. Although some reviews mentioned the patio was shared, we never felt we lacked privacy. In both mornings, breakfast felt very personable and yummy. All of the staff were very friendly. A perfect way to prepare for our day, with the most perfect view. The owners were also lovely on all occasions we crossed paths, making sure that the stay and our holiday was going well. Thank you for making it such a lovely stay, we would highly recommend and wish to stay here again.
Ethan H — Google review
Once again, we had an outstanding stay at Craigmhor Lodge. Spacious, clean and comfortable room with an even more comfortable bed. Shower was large and hot with quality toiletries included. Staff couldn’t be more helpful, welcoming and with a smile. We have tried various places in Pitlochry and Craigmhor Lodge tops the list by far. Thank you and see you next year.

Fantastic place. Gordon and the other staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. Gordon's fluent German was a delightful surprise! Rooms are very clean, bedding was comfortable, bathrooms very clean with high shower head. Our stay was very quiet. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious with a great view - they offer great options that have something for everyone. Fresh fruits, yogurts, cereals, porriage, custom full scottish breakfast with blackpudding and all. The grounds are lush with hundreds of flowers. There even was a pheasant in the garden one morning! Would come again.

The Claymore Guest House is an excellent place to stay. It’s right on the main street in Pitlochry, so everything is within easy walking distance—just a couple of minutes to a charming local pub (The Auld Smiddy Inn) and plenty of shops. Gordon, the host, is welcoming and full of great recommendations for things to see and do in and around Pitlochry. The rooms are spacious, spotless, and nicely decorated. Breakfast is excellent, with plenty of options, all freshly prepared and generously served. The staff are friendly, attentive, and always happy to help. We loved our stay and would recommend coming here.

Great place to stay, nearby lots of walking paths, good restaurants. Breakfast was outstanding, with good coffee, many choices and friendly staff. For me the bed was too soft, but that is personally. Would recommend the place.
Meervliet — Google review
I stayed at the Claymore Guest House for 2 nights in late September. I found that on checkout day, I was actually sad to leave, which is not an experience I generally have at lodgings! The owners were super friendly, the location was great for exploring Pitlochry, and breakfast was wonderful. You leave a sheet at reception marking which items you want for the following morning's breakfast, and they're served hot and fresh. It's worlds better than the "continental breakfast" that is typical for lodging breakfast in the States (and that I also received at lodging elsewhere while visiting Scotland). The staff also helped me call a taxi and gave suggestions for local walking routes.
Mary W — Google review
This is a must stay place. The owner and his wife go the extra mile with being great host. We had a bad tire and Gordon, the owner, helped us contact and set up a repair. He informed us of events as well as provided a fantastic breakfast made by his wife. The staff was great as well.

Buttonboss Lodge is a bed and breakfast located in the centre of Pitlochry, just outside of Cairngorm National Park. The lodge provides comfortable en suite rooms with a full Scottish breakfast. There is also a well-maintained gardens with great views of the mountains.
Our visit started with a warm and informative welcome from Christian who I have assumed is the owner or manager (the booking was made for me). He gave us relevant information regarding our party, the B&B and Pitlochry itself. The roomwas exactly as expected and was clean and well laid out. The bed was nice and firm and the breakfast was spot on. The price was really good for what our group got back in service, room, comfort and location.

We recently stayed at Buttonboss Lodge in Pitlochry and had a pleasant stay. The greeting was warm and welcoming. The rooms were clean and furnished in a standard way, providing everything we needed. The mattresses were a bit soft for our liking. Breakfast was plentiful and offered a good variety, ensuring a satisfying start to the day. Overall, a comfortable and friendly place to stay.

Friend and I were on a vacation and booked two rooms, two nights each. Each room was clean and well maintained, the innkeeper owner served a to order breakfast each morning. There was pleasant interaction among the guests at breakfast and with the cordial and informative innkeeper at all times. The location is VERY convenient to all attractions. Very enjoyable.

Just an overnighter for us here on our way South, a good place to be able to see the fish ladder! Guests can enjoy Scottish dining at the upscale restaurant, known for its gourmet offerings made from the finest local produce.
Absolutely gorgeous property. We had a lovely balcony room with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast and dinner were both quite good. Parking was a little tough because we arrived late in the evening and spots were taken by people eating at the restaurant. Location was perfect with just a short walk to the main part of town. I saw other reviews complaining about the walk, which I don’t understand because it was quite lovely and brief. Will stay again if we come back!
Julia L — Google review
We went for dinner and what an experience that was. We were first put in the sitting area and served pre-dinner drinks.at the same time we were given the menus and wine lists to peruse. After taking our order we were able to enjoy the comfort of the room before being taken to the dining room. All of the food was excellent as was the service that accompanied it. All I know is that if we are in the area again we will eat there and in the expectation that rooms are available we will stay there as well. We were super impressed.

We stayed for two nights in August for my birthday. Room was down alot of stairs in the other house. Were not aware of this as I have mobile issues as waiting on an operation. However room was lovely no complaint. Our family were camping in Blair Athol so on check in were asked if we would like to book dinner. After saying about the family and said we would be dining with them both nights attitude changed. Came back early to have a night cap before turning in,only to find no bar as such. Only a lounge full of sofas which put you in mind of an old folks home. Needless to say we left. First morning for breakfast, after ordering our fruit came. Then they forgot about us. We had eventually to ask. No apology. When toast came it was burnt. Should have sent it back. The full English was the smallest I've ever had and the potato scone was a very small pancake. Second morning I had a tummy upset and needed to use the ladies. Out of order and no alternative. Had to leave hotel and go back outside down all these steps to our room. Not acceptable. We paid well over the price, double the price from previous week. But we thought we were going to a lovely hotel to relax with a drink after a busy day with family but how wrong were we. We would not recommend this hotel . Too many no parking areas as well. Even in hotel grounds.

It was a fantastic experience to stay at the Knockendarroch Hotel. Dinner and breakfast were superb; bed extremely comfortable; showers hot and powerful. But absolutely the best thing about staying here are their wonderful staff. Special thanks to Paige, Morgan, Jessie and the other lovely young Australian lass whose name we missed - who made our stay special.

The Carra Beag Guest House is a Victorian building with period furniture and fittings giving it a sense of old world charm. The guest house is situated in the small town of Carra-Beag in the Western Highlands of Scotland. The guest house offers accommodation in doubles or singles, and has a shared lounge, dining room and kitchen. There is also free parking available on site.
What a lovely place to stay. Our room was spacious and absolutely spotless. The included breakfast was delicious and incredibly great value. Helen and Mark are excellent hosts. The location of the guest house is perfect, you’re just one street outside of the hustle and bustle of the main strip but just a few minutes walk to transit and the shops. We have absolutely nothing negative to say about Carra Beag, it was for sure a highlight of our trip. Would highly recommend visits to Blair Atholl Distillery and Robertsons of Pitlochry while you’re in the area.

This is an ideal location to stay as its right in the centre of the town. A short walk and your in the heart of Pitlochry. This is our first stay here for 2 nights but we shall definitely be returning. Our breakfast this morning was superb. Porridge with honey and milk. Followed by a full breakfast with locally sourced produce. ( the haggis was particularly tasty). Our room was immaculately clean and lovely and warm. Beds are so so comfortable. Teas and coffee facility in our room. Also there's a small fridge. The lounge downstairs is welcoming with chocolate cake and sherry to try. All round a fabulous guest house 🏠.

Absolutely beautiful guest house, lovely period features and decor, comfy beds and good quality bed linen. Fantastic location near to the centre of Pitlochry but also slightly raised so beautiful views. The absolute best aspect of Carra Beag tho has to be Helen and Mark, the owners. They both immediately made us feel so welcome, nothing was too much trouble, just ask. They made our wee holiday, we were so relaxed and comfortable, it was perfect. Helen's cooking was outstanding, loved the three different cooked breakfasts we tried. Would highly recommend this guest house, it is a little gem and we are already planning our next visit in a couple of months time. Thanks again Helen and Mark.

We had such a lovely stay at this beautiful place. The hosts are so warm and welcoming, the food fantastic and the house is stunning with a great location in the heart of Pitlochry. Lovely details like good coffee in the rooms and chocolates and slippers on arrival! We’ll definitely be back, thank you! Paul and Lucy

A lovely guest house in Pitlochry. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly for the entire stay. The breakfast options and quality were some of the best I've had staying in a hotel or guest house. The place has a lovely atmosphere and the views are incredible. Would highly recommend!

Warm welcome from Mark. Room great with lovely view. Breakfast superbly cooked by Helen and served by Mark - there was such a choice with nothing forgotten. We did indulge in a complimentary Port and Chocolate Cake which was yummy. Thank you both for a fab stay in your lovely house.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – A Fantastic Stay at The Carra Beag Guesthouse Stayed here on a fishing trip with friends and had an incredible experience. The Carra Beag has a beautiful garden with great views, and the building was being freshly redecorated — very well looked after. We were greeted by Mark, who was brilliant: friendly, funny, and super helpful. I stayed in Room 9, which had its own private street entrance — a great touch for added privacy. The room was clean, cosy, and full of traditional Scottish charm. Breakfasts were excellent thanks to Helen, with a great selection and flexibility to suit preferences. Even the shampoo and conditioner had a lovely whisky and honey nut scent! The best surprise was the honesty bar in the lounge — help yourself to drinks and note it down. It made the place feel like staying at a mate’s house. All in all, the best place we’ve stayed in Pitlochry. Highly recommended!

Nestled on the serene banks of Loch Faskally in Pitlochry, Fonab Castle Hotel offers a luxurious castle hotel experience with 42 beautifully decorated rooms and suites. The rooms are equipped with modern amenities like smart TVs, Nespresso coffee machines, and indulgent hospitality trays. Some rooms offer unique features such as Loch views, turret seating areas, original fireplaces, and vaulted ceilings.
Very beautiful castle and property with a rich history. It’s been converted over to a beautiful fairly modern hotel. Our room was very large and comfortable and the surroundings are peaceful. It’s very convenient walking distance to the village of Pitlochry. The staff were excellent and made sure our stay was wonderful. Highly recommend staying here.
J K — Google review
I'd say my review is more of a 4.5 star. The staff was incredible and made you feel like family - particularly the concierges Stephen and Mark, as well as, the bartender, Oliver (Ollie). Shout out to Ollie for making THE BEST cocktails as well. The food was VERY good, but the service was quite slow whether it was dinner or breakfast. Also, it wasn't always accurate. Seems like each meal there was something forgotten. The rooms could also use a re-fresh and tidy. All that being said, I would absolutely stay there again. The setting on the loch is idyllic and it was a very wonderful stay!
Katie Y — Google review
If this is Fonab’s idea of a “tranquil spa experience,” I’d hate to see their version of chaos. My boyfriend and I paid £120 and drove an hour and a half for what was meant to be four hours of peace and relaxation and got about 30 minutes before it turned into a children’s pool party. A man and two kids came charging in to the pool/jacuzzi area with water toys and guns, shouting and splashing it honestly felt more like our local leisure centre pool than a luxury spa. When I complained, the receptionist basically shrugged and said, “He’s a member, there’s nothing we can do,” and apparently, this is a weekly occurrence every Sunday morning. So much for a relaxing spa, more like family fun hour! To be fair, we were told the outdoor hot tubs weren’t in use but we still paid full price, which only added to the disappointment. On top of that, the spa itself is looking very tired and clearly in need of some serious maintenance and care. We left after an hour, money wasted, morning ruined. It then took over a week for anyone to respond and a ridiculous seven weeks of chasing emails to finally get my refund. Overall, completely misleading, poorly managed, and nowhere near the “luxury tranquil escape” they advertise. Save yourself the disappointment as there’s nothing relaxing about this place except leaving it.
T P — Google review
rating based on price - beautiful setting, and felt special/fancy. a few notes: given the caliber of hotel was somewhat surprised by what felt like slight understaffing (for instance, had to wait 20 min in the lounge and notify people we were there before anyone showed up to take order for afternoon tea; no one at breakfast when we arrived; longish wait to check in behind just one person because no one else was working the desk, no one available to drive us to the train station with our luggage etc). with that said, fantastic views, everything high quality, pool and hot tubs were lovely, worth a visit if affordable and def feels like a treat
Liza E — Google review
This five star review is really for Concierge David who really gave great service. He picked us up from the train station and made my mom smile and laugh several times. This was worth more than the stay for me since we had recently lost my father. Anything that could make her happy made me happy. Also when anything was amiss in our room he was always the one to show up! A jack of all trades. Unfortunately, I didn't have access to change during my stay to give him a tip directly and wanted to show my appreciation by letting everyone know that he really is a big part of what makes Fonab a 5-star hotel.
Joy J — Google review
Magical setting, third tier wildly overpriced hotel with service ranging from acceptable to laughable. Has to be reviewed contemplating cost and the relative value is very poor. Average smallish rooms, shower water pressure lacking with all other elements unremarkable. You’re staying in a nice house by a river for the price of a stunning castle. The service in the restaurant suggested that the entire staff had been under trained with tableware loudly laid down and removed. Main course delivered with the mumbled announcement of “ cod”. They were going through the motions. We had stayed at a real castle the night before that literally couldn’t be compared for the same price. The

Our stay at Fonab Castle was an absolute highlight of our trip. We were fortunate to stay in the penthouse suite, which was stunning — spacious, luxurious, and with incredible views. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond. They were attentive, genuinely friendly, and even provided us with a ride into town, which was such a thoughtful touch. The spa experience was fabulous. We enjoyed relaxing massages, swam in the pool, and spent time in the hot tub — the perfect way to unwind. We also loved exploring the grounds, especially the hike along the river to the loch, which was both beautiful and so much fun. Throughout our stay, the staff made excellent recommendations for restaurants and things to do in the area. Every interaction felt personal and warm, making us feel truly cared for. Fonab Castle combines luxury, comfort, and incredible hospitality. We can’t recommend it highly enough and would return in a heartbeat.

What a magically special place! My husband and I have just returned from a terrific night away. Location was spectacular, food and drink was tremendous, room and facilities were lovely but the best rating is that the personnel were some of the best, kindest, attentive and warmest individuals and are true ambassadors of this beautiful hotel. Special thanks to Davie, Ollie and the wonderful Kiwi waitress who looked after us so well at dinner. Thanks Fonab!

I had another wonderful stay at Atholl Villa, hosted by the incredibly hospitable Catherine and James. It is a well-organised and thoughtfully run B&B. The room was immaculately clean and beautifully presented, offering a comfortable and restful space. One of the highlights of my visit was the delightful garden party Catherine and James hosted for guests following the Etape. Overall, Atholl Villa offers a warm, welcoming, and impeccably maintained base in Pitlochry—I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Cosy and comfortable B&B right in the middle of Pitlochry. easy walking into town and a great starting point for the walks and hikes nearby. Awesome and generous breakfast options in a lovely spacious dining room. Comfortable beds and rooms. Will definitely return. Catherine and James are great hosts and very knowledgable about the area and recommendations on local restaurants. Parking is offstreet which is always a plus. Great hiking in the area, and a beautiful walk along the River Tummel up to Killiecrankie and the visitors centre there.

Family get together to celebrate a big birthday! There were ten people in our family group spread over three rooms for two nights. The quality of the rooms and the furniture was very good and the beds very comfortable. All in our group were extremely pleased with the sleeping accomodation. Breakfast was very well organised and the food freshly cooked, of good quality and plentiful with the added bonus of being served icheerfully - a good start to the day! Our hosts made us feel quite at home. The location is spot on for exploring Pitlochry on foot - shops, restraurants of which there are many offering a good variety of foods.

Craigroyston House & Lodge is a charming Victorian B&B offering stylish rooms and a full Scottish breakfast in Pitlochry. The lodge provides cozy accommodation with complimentary WiFi and is conveniently located near attractions such as Scone Palace, Blair Castle, and Castle Menzies. With well-appointed bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and tranquil garden area, it's an ideal choice for couples, individual travelers, or families.
During our journey through the beautifull Scotland, we stayed for two nights in this lovely B&B. We were welcomed by the friendly owner. The house is gorgeous and the grounds are very well kept. The house is on higher grounds and we could go into town via a path through the gardens. Our room was on the highest floor and very spacious and very clean. With a separate bathroom. Lots of wallsockets which is always handy. The towels we got were a bit on the large side, but clean. The owner had lots of tips for us about sites to visit and things to see. Breakfast was very well organised, we had a menu in our room on which we could write our preferences for the next morning breakfast and it had a lot of tasty things to choose from. We had some nice chats with the owner and learned that they only started this B&B 18 months ago. We can only say they do a fantastic job.

Very comfortable and well appointed luxury B&B. Lovely clean and attractive room, with a super bathroom. Greg was so welcoming and had many helpful suggestions as to activities and restaurant choices. Breakfast was delicious, with many choices to suit all tastes. We really appreciated the wonderful location, adjacent to the high street and all amenities. Definitely will use again on future visits to Pitlochery.

Craigroyston House & Lodge was a beautiful B&B with a warm and welcoming host. It is within walking distance of everything that Pitlochry has to offer. I would recommend visiting during the off-season because the town was absolutely miserable in August. I expected crowds, but was completely unprepared for the hordes of tour busses and people in this town. That said, our host made several great recommendations for things to do, and he was absolutely wonderful. I would stay again during a different time of year!

Our room was nice and big and very well cleaned. The bathroom was basically the size of another guest room. The heater didn't work but we had a small space heater to make the room feel warm enough. Beds were comfortable and clean. The breakfast was made to order and was very filling. I highly recommend the Scottish breakfast and the smoked salmon with scrambled eggs. Our biggest frustration during our stay was parking. We were asked to park in the back and got blocked in overnight. It's mind blowing to me that they don't collect keys for cars parked at the front. Simply so that they can guarantee that guests could leave early, if they needed to. What if the people leave the room or sleep in? This might mean that if you park in the front row of the tiny parking lot, that you would be asked to wake up early to move. I was stressed out all night, hoping that the driver of the van who blocked us in would move in time for us to leave. We had to leave by a certain time so there was little to no wiggle room to leave late, so it was quite stressful.

This bed and breakfast is magnificent! The owners have gone out of their way to think of all of all of the small details a traveler would need. The room was large, the furnishings were classy and very refined, and the bathroom was huge and extremely well done. We were greeted with whisky (and handmade cookies) as each room is named for a Scottish Whisky Distiller. The common area and dining room were gorgeous. The breakfast was delicious. It was an easy walk to town. Highly recommend this place!

Croft Na Coille is exactly what I had pictured when I thought about staying in a quaint bed and breakfast in the Scottish Highlands. It's adorable, the room and view are lovely, the couple who run it are super friendly and welcoming. They recently renovated the bathrooms and they are beautiful, with a big bathtub that was so relaxing. It's tucked in a neighborhood so it's really peaceful. Four of us stayed for the weekend recently and were very pleasantly surprised. If this is a 'no frills' cottage then I'd love to see the ones 'with frills! ' Everywhere was newly painted and looked clean and fresh. The kitchen is small but perfectly formed, and has everything you need. The beds were very firm and comfortable and the bathrooms to both bedrooms, good sized. What I particularly liked was all the space to put toiletries and make-up and the dressing table in the bathroom was a perfect make-up station. The other thing I really liked was the fact that the two bedrooms were on opposite sides of the cottage so there was plenty of privacy. The owners were really friendly and are on hand if you need them as well. Nothing not to like really so hope to visit again.

Amazing place to stay! Hosts could not have been more hospitable. What a lovely holiday! We stayed here to attend Heartlands Festival and it was just perfect luxury to come home to! Breakfast with a toot of whiskey was a great start to the day too! Thanks so much- we hope to visit again when next in the area!

My fiance and I stayed here in October. The house and grounds are beautiful. The owners are the sweetest, friendliest couple you can imagine. Our room was lovely and comfortable with a gorgeous view. The Scottish breakfast was the best we had on our trip. I hope we have the opportunity in the future to return to Scotland and stay here again!

Arrandale House!! Where shall I start? The hosts, absolutely wonderful, the accommodation, absolutely brilliant, the views, gorgeous, the breakfast, filling, perfectly cooked, presented, and tasty. We only went for 4 days to celebrate my birthday. Little did I know that my better half had rang ahead to arrange things, but Kerry and William made it special!! A lovely bunch of flowers in the room. Which I thought was from the hosts! But was from David, Kerry even sorted a cake with candles a rendition of happy birthday with morning tea!!! Was lovely really lovely. They made us feel at home from day 1 to leaving!! The house was gorgeous the view regardless of the weather again stunning. The best black pudding I have tasted in a very long time!! If I could score more than 5 it would be at least a 10. Kerry, William,we have booked for August look forward to seeing you again and thank you for my birthday. Suzie and David

Absolutely stunning place to stay, inside and out. Such hospitality and kindness with fantastic friendly hosts. The porridge with whisky is a triumph served in a dining room you'd expect to see Jane Austen in. The whole decor is beautifully done. Can't wait to revisit.

Whilst visiting this summer we ate here as a family of four.... great place and would thoroughly recommend! Large selection of drinks and the menu was great for our two kids. You can't book a table but we were welcomed in very swiftly with no problems on a Saturday evening - will definitely be back!

Room was spotlessly clean. Staff very friendly and top notch service. Food prepared on the spot was delicious. Bar area was very busy but the atmosphere was good. We've stayed in most Pitlochry hotels in our lifetime but we'll be staying here from now on.

We didn’t stay here but ate here. Good food - tasted lovely but portion sizes were sadly lacking. Just shy of £23 for fish and chips. Price is fine if the portion sizes are good but sadly they were very disappointing. Tiny portion of peas and very small pot of chips. Fish was quite small. Soup was £10.45. Served hot and tasted lovely but one very small piece of bread. For that price more bread is needed at least. Won’t be back to eat I’m afraid.

A lovely dinner at The Old Mill Inn. No need to book a table as you just pop in. We did and were seated straight away. Staff are friendly and attentive. Lovely dishes on the menu to choose from. Ordering was so easy, with staff coming to take our food and drinks order at the table. The wait for both our drinks and food was not long. My friend had the Sunday Roast and I had the Butter Chicken Curry. My friend enjoyed her Sunday Roast, the curry was nice but if I was to come again then I would order something else.

Really nice place to eat. A little pricey for what we were looking for during a camping trip but we found there was wood fired pizza on offer which were really delicious. Sat in the garden area and watched the football in the sun. Really nice atmosphere and the rest of the food off the main menu looked great from what we could see so I will be back to try it.

Friendly staff and a great location. The food was great, even my fussy 4 year old smashed his way through a burger. Heaters around the outside tables provided more than enough heat for our visit to make everyone comfortable.
Rob M — Google review
We recently visited this restaurant on a Sunday and opted for the Sunday roast. While the location is great, especially the outdoor seating, the meal itself was a big disappointment. The beef was chewy and dry, the gravy was flavorless, and the potatoes were dull and unappetizing. We might consider returning to enjoy the atmosphere outside, but we won’t be coming back for a full dining experience. My advice would be to skip the Sunday roast and try something else on the menu instead.

Food & Drink
Blair Athol Distillery, situated in the charming town of Pitlochry at the gateway to the Scottish Highlands, is one of Scotland's oldest working distilleries. The Allt Dour, a water source originating from Ben Vrackie in the Grampian Mountains, contributes to the smooth and mellow finish of its renowned single-malt whiskies.
A splendid experience. It was the first time for me and the tour was really informative and very well explained. The tour guide was really nice and so friendly. We had a great chat with her afterwards. Don't forget to visit their shop after the tour. You won't find any of their products outside their venue which is an added value for them indeed. Highly recommended.
Mira Y — Google review
Our guide, Cameron, was fantastic—he really made the experience. His mix of humor and knowledge created a relaxed atmosphere while still delivering plenty of interesting facts. Walking through the production areas and distillery gave us a much deeper understanding of the process. Cameron also made sure everyone understood how whisky is made—his explanation of the process chart was simple, clear, and spot-on. The tour length was just right—enough time to cover everything without feeling too long. The whisky tasting at the end was well-balanced, and we appreciated the small bottles provided for our designated driver. The gift glasses were a lovely touch. We stayed to chat with Cameron afterward in the Gift Shop and chose the 12-year single malt, which was our favorite. Overall, it was a fun and engaging experience.

I recently visited Blair Athol Distillery, and it was an absolute highlight of my trip to Scotland. The distillery itself is stunning, steeped in history, and set in a beautiful location that feels both authentic and welcoming. From the moment we arrived, the experience was smooth, well-organized, and full of charm. Our guide, Alan, made the tour unforgettable. His knowledge of whisky making was second to none, but what really stood out was the way he shared it—with warmth, humor, and a real passion for the craft. He struck the perfect balance between detailed storytelling and making sure everyone felt included, whether a seasoned whisky drinker or a first-timer. Alan didn’t just guide us through the process; he brought the distillery to life with history, local anecdotes, and a contagious enthusiasm. The tasting at the end was a fantastic way to wrap up—every dram carried depth and character, and Alan’s explanations gave me a new appreciation for the unique style of Blair Athol whisky. I left with both a deeper understanding of whisky making and a bottle to remember the experience by. If you’re anywhere near Pitlochry, make time for this distillery. It’s not just about whisky; it’s about storytelling, tradition, and people like Alan who make the experience shine. Highly recommended!

The tour was to the point but super informative, Cat answered all our questions like a true pro and the whiskey was bangin' - but mostly their team is just so kind. My brother was having back issues, so I went down early to ask if there was stool we could borrow during the tour. Someone from their team actually went through the whole distillery to make sure there was a chair in every room for him. So not just great whiskey, but also great people. We had a wonderful afternoon 🤍 (Also, try the highball at the bar! Delicious craftsmanship 👌🏻)

Very old brewery now owned by a mega corp. Small but interesting equipment that gives a good idea of the processes involved in making Scotch whiskey. Your guide was affable and pleasant. Whiskey was very good but not great. Certainly the tour was a good value and a fun way to learn about whiskey

We had a wonderful experience at the Blair Athol Whisky Distillery. María, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and entertaining, explaining the process in a clear and engaging way. We tasted three different whiskies, discovering their unique aromas and undertones. The distillery itself is cosy and full of charm — overall, a fantastic experience that we highly recommend. PS: The whiskey barrel chocolates were wonderful 😋

On our way back to Edinburgh we stopped at Blair Athol Distillery. Perfect way to enjoy a very well done and friendly tour of the distillery with a super cool, friendly and knowledgeable guide. Pitlochry Festival Theatre is a unique attraction in the Highlands, offering a diverse range of productions and featuring a cafe-bar with scenic river views. The theatre has an interesting history, with its founder leaving a note during World War II that led to the establishment of the festival in 1951. Overlooking the River Tummel, it is easily accessible from Pitlochry and provides ample parking.
We got incredibly lucky at the Pitlochry Festival Theatre, managing to bag the last two tickets for "Nan Shepherd: Naked and Unashamed" for that day. Having already fallen in love with charming Pitlochry while staying in a nearby shepherd's hut, learning about the show meant we simply had to go – and we are so incredibly glad we did. This two-hander was an immensely engaging play, a testament to the clever writing by Richard Baron and Ellie Zeegen. Its immersive nature and thoughtful design truly drew us in. Adam Buksh and Susan Coyle delivered tremendous performances, with Adam Buksh seamlessly embodying multiple characters with impressive elan. The narrative, especially being about Nan Shepherd while in the Highlands, felt deeply resonant and culturally enriching. The Pitlochry Festival Theatre itself left a strong impression. We watched the play in the Studio, and the seats were exceptionally comfortable. The views would be excellent from anywhere in the studio, a credit to its design. The director clearly kept the venue's features in mind, which only served to elevate the play further. Learning more about the theatre's history and mission afterward made us even more appreciative of our visit. For me, there's truly no better way to understand a place than to engage with its arts scene. Experiencing a play about Nan Shepherd while immersed in the Highlands felt like a uniquely perfect cultural moment. It was a truly memorable and highly recommended experience!

Absolutely lovely and so fun. An intimate stage experience with talented artists and a wonderful story. The building is clean and bright and modern in a storied landscape and garden that is entirely walkable and photo-worthy. Head over early to enjoy a leisurely stroll, a cup of tea or coffee, or a dram. The gift shop is worth perusing. Bathrooms are gendered rooms with stalls.

Just saw 'A Toast Fae The Lassies' at Pitlochry theatre studio and it was magnificent! The acting was excellent and the singing outstanding. The musicianship was first class. The intimacy of the Pitlochry theatre studio helped, but the show deserves a national audience. Well done everyone involved, well done Pitlochry Festival Theatre!

We stayed at the Atholl Palace Hotel for a week during the annual Highland Tennis tournament. It was brilliant. We had a lovely room on the second floor with fabulous views. The room was very clean and had a superbly comfortable king size bed and a modern bathroom with separate bath and walk in shower. The food was great, we especially loved the Sunday lunch carvery and really enjoyed breakfast which was good quality, extensive and plentiful. Stunning views from the dining room too! We also loved all the lounge areas with it's high ceilings, fire places and comfy sofas. We had great fun in the Stag bar, the singer on the Friday night had us up dancing. The Lavender Spa, is beautiful, I had a fabulous full body massage from Joanne and spent time in the relaxation room. The staff were all helpful and friendly, special shout to Ewan in the restaurant, Kate at breakfast and Kirsty in Customer Services. Location is wonderful too, Pitlochry is a lovely town and so much to do and see nearby.

From the moment we arrived after a ten hour drive to Pitlochry we were warmly greeted & welcomed. It hit us immediately with the ambience & calmness of the palace and made us feel very relaxed in the tranquil setting. The service we received throughout the seven night stay was nothing short of superb. Cleanliness was to the highest standards. The food was mouth watering on every occasion. The vista & gardens are breath taking in this beautiful location in Scotland. The palace building itself holds a magic that is timeless in it's history. The architecture is amazing and the interior superbly furnished with plenty of space with warm fire places to completely relax. Our heartfelt thanks to those members of staff who went the extra mile to make our time at Atholl Palace so special, Kate, Laura & Marius. We also had the pleasure of meeting the new manager and wish him well in his new appointment. Thoroughly recommended. Steve & Jacqueline.

Great hotel, in fact it's massive.. A place that you Immediately feel at home, liads of places to sit and relax, open fires. The staff were all great and the breakfast was excellent (self service). Evening meal was superb, we ate in the bar but no issues whatsoever. Our room was large. Superbly comfortable bed and great views over the garden. Excellent pool and jacuzzi with spa. Loads of free parking. Situated in a massive 50 acre site with woodland walks and many other outdoor activities weather permitting. Great hotel, happy to return.

We’ve visited Atholl Palace every year, and it never fails to impress with its stunning location and traditional, relaxing atmosphere. However, it’s disappointing to see a few signs of penny-pinching creeping in at what has always felt like a high-end destination, such as extra charges for bread and rolls. The open fire being blocked off also takes away some of the cosy charm we’ve come to expect. We stayed in the Garden Room 81, which could do with a little TLC and better soundproofing. On a positive note, the dining and bar staff were absolutely lovely, friendly, attentive, and always going above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Their warmth and professionalism really stood out and made our stay that bit more enjoyable.

The Pitlochry Hydro Hotel is a grand Victorian hotel offering contemporary rooms, a restaurant, pool, sauna, and gym. It's one of the options for upscale accommodation in Pitlochry alongside other notable establishments like Atholl Palace and Fishers Hotel. While some find the hotel a bit dated, the staff are friendly and helpful. Guests can enjoy clean rooms with comfortable beds and pleasant garden views.
The Pitlochry Hydro Hotel is a building that immediately evokes a sense of former glory. Its stately, old-world charm is evident from the outside, and this feeling continues as you step inside. The interior is a fascinating and sometimes quirky mix of old and new, where ancient door knobs and well-worn carpets sit alongside modern amenities like a television and telephone in the rooms. The building retains its original character, right down to the windows, which are single-glazed and add to the authentically ancient feel. While the overall ambiance is one of stepping back in time, this also means the hotel can feel a bit cold and has a distinct "old building" smell. Unfortunately, the spa was also closed for maintenance during my visit. However, the hotel offers some wonderful features. The outdoor patio is a fantastic spot to sit and relax, and the bar is a welcoming space, occasionally featuring live music. The hotel also boasts a massive car park, which is a definite plus.
Andrei S — Google review
Don’t read the negative reviews. Lovely hotel, great facilities, including indoor pool. I choose this hotel due to the parking facilities, big car park outside and at the side of the hotel. Great value for money, clean rooms, staff were great. Breakfast was small but good selection of hot and cold foods. The restaurant is a bit outdated and so is the bar area could do with being done up a bit. The changing rooms for the pool are extremely clean but could to with being updated. Enjoyable stay and looking forward to staying again in the future.

This Hotel has seen better days. We stayed for two nights and had to switch rooms in between because our first room reeked of wet dog, there was mold in the bathroom, the window didn’t open and the water pressure was non-existent. The second room was better but the interior still a bit old and shabby. Not worth the price value! Only good thing was the friendly staff who was always very helpful and understanding.
Rieke B — Google review
I booked a couple of nights here as a last night minute getaway, kind of relying on the 'Hydro' brand as a guarantee of a decent hotel. On checking in, the reception staff were polite and welcoming, if seeming a little flustered for some reason and gave us our room key. The reception areas and hallways seemed clean enough, but the decor was very dated, almost to 1970's level. The room- relatively comfortable, but like the reception and hallways, very dated. I turned on the main light and was treated to the sight of a lightshade, absolutely packed with dead insects. The main light didn't get used again. The shower had very low water pressure and struggled to get above warm despite being turned to the hottest setting. I was told this was due to demand from guests when I raised it with reception, but this seemed to be the normal working for the shower at any time. Breakfast the next morning was a usual buffet style cooked breakfast and whilst plenty on offer and edible enough, was nothing particularly astounding. We spent the rest of the day in the town which is only a 10 minute walk down the hill from the hotel, but we agreed between ourselves to give the hotel breakfast on Sunday a miss and source food elsewhere. We returned later in the evening having eaten in town, but decided to get a drink at the hotel bar. As I've said the reception staff were friendly enough, however this was let down by a male member of bar staff who could barely bring himself to speak to my partner or I as we ordered drinks, making us feel like we were an inconvenience for having dared ask him to serve two drinks. I'm sorry to say that, as a result, we won't be booking the Pitlochry Hydro again.
Mick T — Google review
I am writing this review primarily because of my experience in the restaurant. I am known as being pretty hard to impress, and I have to say that our food was amazing. Both my husband and I ate the entire meal (even though the portions were very generous) because the flavour was so good. We ordered seafood and risotto which can be tricky to pull off and it was perfect. Yanis offered fantastic service along with the rest of the staff. I was initially a bit nervous because some reviews were a negative about the food- but I have no idea what those reviewers are talking about. Perhaps just a bad day?. We were so tired and didn’t want to leave the hotel so we stayed and ate and are so glad we did. The rooms however leave much to be desired. But …. it is a 3 star hotel, and is very affordable, so I think it’s important to keep that in mind when disappointed. I probably would not stay in the hotel again- but would visit the restaurant over and over. Note: hotel staff were lovely

We stayed in a cosy double room, a wee bit dated and could do with a freshening up. Shower pressure not great. Lovely spa with decent sized pool and jacuzzi and a new sauna, there is also a gym which is small but has basics to train and I’ve visited here twice now and has always been quiet. Food is amazing! Breakfast and meal were top notch and staff very friendly and helpful. Specifically Celina is lovely. Overall I would recommend to stay here during a trip to Pitlochry only a 10 minute walk from the high street with loads of wee shop, cafes and restaurants and about a 20 minute walk to the Pitlochry dam. (If you have mobility issues please note there is a steep hill to walk to hotel from Pitlochry High Street. Good value for money.

We have stayed here before a while ago but this visit consisted of us visiting family to use the leisure facilities. The pool itself was lovely but unfortunately the changing rooms were completely inadequate for the pool capacity and the number of lockers available. 2 showers and 2 changing rooms, which meant waiting times. The showers themselves had very poor water pressure. We visited my parents room before we left and it was a shame to see what they got for the money they paid. The space was great with a separate seating and TV area, and a lovely 4 poster bed in the separate bedroom. However, they had to use a shoe to keep one of the sash windows open, crumbled grouting around the bath, where locks had been removed from the bathroom door and swapped for a handle, the gap had not been filled and looked really bad. The wardrobe also needs an update to keep in line with the room rating. Staff are very pleasant and always have been whenever I have stayed here or visited.
Rachel H — Google review
Overpriced and outdated! Breakfast was ok and the staff in the restaurant were pleasant. The stay itself: Moved room as the first didn't have a bath as advertised and paid for. Once in the correct room the TV didn't work, pressure virtually non existent for the bath and shower. Very dated and tatty rooms, uncomfortable cheap quality bed mattress. Mentioned all of the above at checkout and was told someone would be in touch and also left a message from booking.com but still no response. I stay away a lot for business and this is seriously over priced for an incredibly sub standard accomodation. I would not recommend this place and I won't be returning. Pitlochry is a lovely place though so please visit but find alternative accomodation.

Nestled in the charming town of Pitlochry, Westlands of Pitlochry is a family-run B&B offering traditional rooms, some with 4-poster beds. The property features a sunroom and a garden where guests can relax and take in the serene surroundings. Conveniently located just off Atholl Road, this B&B provides easy access to the town center.
Absolutely tremendous value. Rooms are clean, very modern and have plenty of electricity sockets for chargers and so on. There is a great selection for breakfast both continental and cooked. 2 minute walk from the heart of pitlochry, was ideal for our trip to the Enchanted Forest. Would definitely book here again. Friendly staff as well.

Stayed here as part of group tour. Our room soared to among the smallest based on the outside view of the window. Overlooked the parking lot and needed a safety pin to hold the curtain partially closed to avoid direct view in but slow done fresh air. Staff provided a second fan and remade the bed without the duvet as it was particularly warm. Friendly staff. Breakfast was good though the same repeated daily. Off starting more than two nights it might get a bit bit boring. Friendly and accommodating staff! Location just beyond the center of town so very convenient. I would consider staying here again though certainly request a better room off the parking lot.

We absolutely loved this place — it was wonderfully cosy, just as we hoped. The rooms were spotless, though the strong smell of vinegar (likely from natural cleaning products) was a bit overpowering. The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful, and the town itself was simple yet beautiful - perfect for anyone looking to truly disconnect.

Very good hotel. The location is perfect as it's very close to pubs and shops but in a quiet area. The outdoor area is very big and there is plenty of carpark space. Our room was refurbished not long ago and it was very big, comfortable and with plenty of windows. The room has all the amenities you will need, only missing: Conditioner, body lotion (both available from reception on request) and some herbal teas. Every corridor has a water machine available. Breakfast is very good with a small selection of gluten free cereals. Highly recommend it

Highly recommend this place. Spacious and clean rooms with smart tv connected to Netflix. The staffs are friendly and welcoming and the breakfast buffet was excellent. The location was also very convenient just a short walk away from the main street. Has ample parking spaces within the property.
Pradikshana J — Google review
The location of The Westlands is truly exceptional—just a short and easy walk to the restaurants and shops in town, which made exploring very convenient. However, the service left much to be desired. Upon arrival, there was no offer of assistance with our luggage, and my husband was actually discouraged from parking near reception to unload our bags. Later in the evening, when we returned from dinner, the front desk staff didn’t acknowledge us or even look up—though we could clearly hear a video game being played behind the desk. Small moments like these added up and detracted from the overall experience. With such a great location, there’s a lot of potential here, but the guest service needs improvement.

A very nice bnb found only a few hundred metres away from the town centre , hotel was very quiet at night as we never heard a thing from other rooms and floors so we were quite surprised by how busy the breakfast room was but getting food was very well organised and we had 2 great breakfasts which were in the price. All of the staff were very friendly and courteous and couldnt do enough for us , the room was very clean with all the mod cons expected and had a completely tiled shower room just off it, the electric shower was a tad less powerful than we expected but it got the job done. A great place to explore Pitlochry but it can be pricy through the peak months

My first visit to Westlands of Pitlochry(and Pitlochry) was absolutely outstanding from start to finish!! The hotel staff were absolutely amazing, super welcoming and friendly. The room we stayed in was in the new wing at the back, very spacious, immaculate, plenty of charging stations/sockets. Beds were super comfy. Breakfast was absolutely delicious 😋 Thankyou to all of the lovely staff for such a lovely warm welcome 😃 see you all again next year.

Pine Trees Hotel, located in historic Pitlochry, offers luxurious Four Star accommodation with 29 individually designed bedrooms. As guests benefit from a choice of Scottish cuisine and warm personal service, they are sure to be impressed by this lovely oasis within Pitlochry.
We’ve just left Pine Trees after staying for 3 nights and I want to go back already!! We’ll be booking again for this time next year. What a beautiful hotel. The interior decor is stunning throughout all of the buildings. Our room was so comfortable with the addition of a balcony overlooking the hills - stunning. The staff were great, made it feel like a home from home and when they discovered it was our honeymoon made sure there was a card in our room and other little treats. Made it feel really special. We also got some lovely fizz at the bar, compliments of the bar manager. The meals were delicious, I’d recommend the smoked sea trout with eggs as the 2 oils that are on the plate are outstanding. Dinner menu is beautiful. I had the quail one night and beef shin the next - I can’t rate it highly enough. Great selection of wines too. Thank you to all the team that made our toner there so special.

We spent one night here and the experience exceeded expectations. The room and the views are amazing. The building is beautiful and there are many cozy corners to relax in the common areas. We also had dinner at the Fauna restaurant and it was excellent! The best of the experience are the people working there. The ladies at the reception desk are incredibly friendly and Heather at the restaurant looked after us so well! During our stay we've received so many gifts we felt spoiled! Thanks everyone for a wonderful stay, we will be back 😊

This hotel was the absolute highlight of our trip through Scotland in terms of accommodation. Even though all the hotels we stayed at during our holiday were truly excellent, this one clearly stood out. What we loved: Exceptionally friendly staff throughout. From the first contact at check-in to the farewell, every team member was consistently courteous, attentive, and genuinely warm. The design of the recently renovated hotel is stunning. From the outside, it looks like a stately home, while inside it features many tasteful design details and a very cosy, harmonious atmosphere. Our room was also beautiful, with warm, ambient lighting and lots of lovely touches. The food – both dinner and breakfast – was absolutely excellent. What could be improved: The dining room is spacious, and the hotel was by no means fully booked. Still, all guests were seated quite close together, even though there were many free (and set) tables available. That was a bit of a shame. At breakfast, it took quite a long time before we were served, as only one staff member was present and they were not particularly fast. Overall: Our stay at this hotel was an absolute delight, and we can recommend it wholeheartedly. Next time we're in Scotland, we will definitely return to the Pine Trees Hotel!

We stayed in 2025 in the heather bank accommodation. Incredible rooms (recently refurbished), fantastic highland hospitality, staff were very helpful. The location is fantastic, in amongst the big beautiful trees in peace and quiet. The village is just a short walk away and is lovely to visit.

We stayed for one night at Pine Trees Hotel and unfortunately the experience was disappointing. At check-in there was construction at the only entrance, and the front desk staff was on the phone for several minutes without acknowledging us. When she did take us to our room, she rushed through, forgot to give us our keys, and offered no explanation of amenities or the property. The room itself was comfortable and the shower products were great, though access was a bit confusing with several staircases. Dinner at Fauna was the real letdown. We felt rushed from the bar to our table before our reservation time, were seated at the least comfortable table despite the dining room being mostly empty, and service throughout the evening was disorganized. The wine we ordered couldn’t be found, staff were visibly scrambling for 15 minutes before finally telling us, and then it took another 10 minutes for the replacement bottle to arrive. My husband’s ribeye was excellent, but my braised beef was dry and missing the bone marrow it was supposed to come with. Our server did not explain the menu, and we ended up with four types of potatoes by mistake. After dinner we waited 15 minutes to order drinks while the bartender chatted with another guest. The whisky tasting my husband ordered was supposed to come with chocolates, but staff only told us they were out after running around for 10 minutes. They offered a £5 discount but no real apology. The accommodation was fine for the price, but service overall felt rushed, unpolished, and inattentive. With some adjustments this could be a wonderful experience, but unfortunately it wasn’t for us.
Tripti M — Google review
We stayed here on 20/09/25 and paid £360 for one night, expecting a memorable experience, but sadly it was extremely disappointing. Dinner service was poor from the start – we were the last table to be offered bread and water, the main course was underwhelming, and after asking for a dessert menu we waited 35 minutes with no follow-up. Meanwhile, other tables around us were served promptly. The lack of attentiveness completely ruined what should have been a relaxing evening. Although the manager on duty was polite when we raised our concerns, the service issues had already spoiled our stay. We were so unimpressed that we didn’t even bother attending the included breakfast the next morning. For the price we paid, the experience fell far below expectations. What was meant to be a special treat ended up being a real disappointment. Definitely not worth the money, and sadly we cannot recommend this hotel.
Ally — Google review
We stayed here for a night towards the end of our Highlands travel and loved it. The hotel and the restaurant (Fauna) were a highlight of our vacation. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable, the staff was amazing and the meals were the best we had in Scotland. The hotel is a short 10 minute walk into town but is secluded away and quiet for a great night's sleep. We hope to visit again!
Rachel F — Google review
I can’t say enough about Pine Trees. The newly renovated property is gorgeous - our room, Snowdrop, is stunning. We had previously stayed at another property in town and we will never stay anywhere else again. The service is top notch, they truly take care of you and make you feel at home. I cannot wait to come back!!! Here for Christmas…it would be…iconic.

Another comfortable night in the Arcasaid. The room had everything you could need, a much needed fan, coffee machine, dressing gowns and slippers, toiletries, even toothbrushes/ toothpaste should you need it. Staff very pleasant and a good choice at breakfast, we've stayed here before and we'll definitely stay again, many thanks.

Good size double room, excellent breakfast choice, quality and service. Very pleased to have the biscuits in our room replaced each day, odd though toiletries were not refreshed. Generally very clean but bathroom needs a little attention, with the ceiling needing mould removed and repainted. Pleased to have a seating/lounge area but it would be better with a sofa-bed, rather than a covered up single bed. Odd also, not to be able to open both bedroom windows, why is 1 marked 'do not open'? If broken, please fix it.

Stayed here with my husband while attending the local music festival. Ideal location, big, comfy room, friendly staff and amazing breakfast choice all freshly cooked. Big Karen couldn't do enough and was there for anyone who needed anything. Will be booking again for our next visit to the area.

We enjoyed our visit to Acarsaid Hotel. Very friendly and efficient staff. Lovely modern dining area. Rooms are clean and tidy. However, they are very tired and in need of updating.
James H — Google review
Beautiful old building, spoiled by the addition of what looks like a 1970s carbuncle of an extension. Like many old hotels of this type showing signs of ware. That said the location is good, on the edge of the town. Rooms are clean and tidy, bathrooms relatively modern. Goid size car park, which you can use if you arrive early. Breakfast is good, more than ample portions. The staff were friendly and polite. Worth considering as long as you do not want 5 star accommodation

My mother and I stayed in that B&B as our first step for our roadtrip to the Highlands and is was a great to spend our first scottish night there. There is a large parking, we were warmly welcomed and were offered help to bring the luggage up to the room. The room was really nice, simple but with everything you need (powerful hairdryer, shampoo, etc. Even some coffee, tea and biscuits) The breakfast is really amazing, it's like a restaurant. When we arrived, our table with the vegan/veggie menu was prepared. You can start with the small buffet (fruits, cereals etc) while they prepare the warm breakfast you choose from the menu. I had the Full Scottish breakfast in veggie version. My mother had the scrambled eggs. They were really nice people. There are two warm living rooms. Everything is super clean and it smells amazing when you enter the B&B. I recommend it. If you book from theit website, you'll have a discount.

Excellent Indian restaurant and gin bar with pleasant outdoor seating. Very early breakfast for Étape Caledonia cycle event was particularly appreciated.

Like other reviews we found the hotel ideal for our stay. After one of the members of staff carried our large luggage case up to our room, this because we are both disabled in different ways, we found a welcoming card in our room which was a nice touch. To us the peaceful position of where the hotel was was so unexpected and together with the friendly family and staff it made our stay so more enjoyable. Our bedroom looked on to fields and a forest in the distance with the lack of traffic hurtling past created a scene that helped to relax us. This scene was repeated if you were lucky to sit in the booths by the windows at breakfast. The choices and freshly cooked hot breakfast items made a change to everything sitting in hot plates. We found the breakfast was very filling and the scrambled eggs was cooked to my partner's taste. Sadly because of my reaction to anything spicy we were unable to indulge in the Indian cooking. All in all we were so taken by the hotel, the friendly family and staff and the value for money we are hoping to return again same time next year with another family member in tow because she loved all she heard and saw of the hotel.

Very nice hotel with a great location and view. Room was very clean and everything as described in the websites. Nice and quiet hotel regarding was fully booked. Easy walk to the main street if you fit enough. Was worried about the breakfast, read some negative comments about it and didn't find information what is the options but was a nice surprise. Plenty option for tea, coffee or juice, toast jams, cereals. And Scottish breakfast, omelets etc. So it was very nice and delicious. Plus the view from there is stunning. Very friendly staff. Definitely want to use this hotel again.

This was a 10/10 stay. It’s easy to see why this was rated the best Indian restaurant in Scotland. The chicken curry special was phenomenal. The service was impeccable and the rooms spotless. Aniket, the bartender took amazing care of his patrons and was incredible knowledgeable about the local Pitlochary whisky. Highly recommended for a visit to to bar and restaurant, even if you aren’t staying at the hotel.

Just had an amazing overnight stay at Craigvrack Hotel. Exceptionally attentive staff. Bedroom was homely, cosy and spotless. Restaurant food was excellent and staff very knowledgeable about the menu, helping us to make 100% the right choices. Delicious. Breakfast also wonderful, even more so with the stunning countryside views from our table. Would not hesitate to thoroughly recommend both the hotel & Cidsin restaurant within. What a gem!

What an awesome find! The tartan carpet on the stairs and upstairs hallway surprised me...such a reminder that I was still in the Scottish Highlands! I had a fractured shoulder bone so wasn't able to carry my suitcase. The wonderful staff not only carried it up the stairs to my allocated room, but also found me a spare luggage rack so could fully open my suitcase. I was impressed with their service, the cleaness of the room & bathroom and the view out my window. I was left in awe when I found a welcome card hand addressed to me with a wee message on it! Wow! In my room there was tea/coffee/hot chocolate supplies & making facilities with cups, UHT milk, sugar & 4 packaged cookies.

Stephanie couldn't have been more friendly and welcoming on arrival, which was a lovely start. Our room was very comfortable, and had everything we needed. The breakfast was fantastic! Pre-ordering system worked very well, and again Stephanie was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is close enough to the main street of Pitlochry for easy access to amenities, but distant enough to be removed from the bustle of activity. It was a shame we only had one night to spend at Tigh Na Cloich, but we would love to return! Many thanks Stephanie and Steve!

Lovely and tidy place! Amazing views overlooking the city too, kitchen was very very well equipped, multiple sinks, fridges, free coffee/teas/hot chocolate, lots of bench space, etc! Multiple areas to relax/sit in. Beds are cozy, the only thing was that the dorm rooms do not have plug sockets next to beds, and the only toilet is with the shower (in the room), so if someone is in there you have to wait. However there are more bathrooms down the hall!

I had a very enjoyable 4 night stay in a dorm room. The prices are very affordable, given the popularity of the area, and the hostel is kept clean. There is a fully equipped kitchen with more than enough space to accommodate the number of people using it. The view from the dining room is superb. My only complaint is that the showers have very low water pressure. I will, however, certainly be returning.

Excellent location in a very quaint town. The host was welcoming and very accommodating. It is a traditional Scottish Inn and we were glad for the cozy rooms after a visit to the Enchanted Forest. The Well House has a fantastic location in Pitlochry with convenient parking. The owner was lovely and gave a very warm welcome to us. Unfortunately, there was an issue with the shower in one of our rooms (we had two rooms) that couldn't be fixed. We were told on check in and offered a discount on the room rate, but we were happy to pay the normal rate. There were a couple of other maintenance issues in the room (noisy extract fan, toilet seat off) which took away from the stay. Breakfast was good (continental) and tasty. Plenty of options to set you up for the day. The coffee was really good too! We would stay again!

This is the best B&B that I’ve ever stayed in. Simple, comfortable elegance. Our room is just lovely. We have tea service in the room with a tea pot and China cups and saucers. The dining room was also very attractive and welcoming. Lots of choices for breakfast. My husband and I opted for cereal and fresh fruit, warm croissants, cold cuts and cheese along with juice and coffee. The hosts and his wife are very welcoming and helpful. Nestled in its own peaceful grounds, Willows Bed & Breakfast is a classic Victorian villa offering six comfortable en-suite rooms, each equipped with modern amenities. The south-facing dining room provides a picturesque setting for breakfast with views of the garden. Guests praise the warm hospitality of owners Murray and Deborah, who go above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay. The charming B&B boasts immaculate rooms and delicious breakfast options including homemade jam.
The Willows is a delightful place to spend a few days in and around Pitlochry. We took an instant shine to the hosts, Murray and Deborah, who are astonishingly kind and welcoming people that we found very endearing and highly helpful throughout our stay. They clearly work hard to maintain the house and grounds and this shows - the rooms are incredibly clean and the gardens are in immaculate condition with much thought given to the preservation of local fauna and sustainability which we appreciated. The room was a generous size, the location was ideal, the breakfasts very tasty, and the price was good value. As an added bonus, Murray, ever the genial host, procured for us a free drinks coupon for a local restaurant which we were able to benefit from today over lunch. All in all, an excellent stay. We will be coming back when we're next in the Highlands.

Stayed here as a base for Etape Caledonia cycle race. Could not have asked for a better place or location. Murray and Deborah (the owners) are simply amazing. Friendly, welcoming and hugely accommodating to all your needs. The rooms themselves are very spacious, comfortable beds and the breakfasts in the morning are an absolute treat (try the home made jam!) Thank you, Murray and Deborah again for such a wonderful stay!

We stayed at Willows for 3 nights in late October and we couldn't have picked a better spot in Pitlochry. This picturesque Victorian villa was a short walk from the train station, and an even shorter walk to Blair Atholl Distillery. Our room and en-suite bathroom were both impeccably clean and cozy, and they were furnished with special touches like local chocolates, biscuits, and bath products. We were given an extensive menu to choose from for breakfasts the night before, and every option we chose was perfectly delicious and served piping hot by Deborah. Don't miss the yogurt parfaits with berry coulis or the local orange marmalade in the dining room! Deborah and Murray were the best possible hosts. Thank you for making this such a wonderful and memorable trip to the Highlands.

Loved Willows, turned up, no booking, Murray who was enjoying their beautiful garden was all to happy to accommodate our two nights stay. I'd recommend this B&B, awesome full breakfast (cereals, fruit, yoghurt and various muffins, while you wait for cooked breakfast), cosy comfortable room, cleanliness immaculate. Murray and Deb perfect hosts, definitely be back.

Absolutely loved Willows Bed & Breakfast. First, the BnB was charming; there was a lovely front garden and the rooms were nicely made up. Next (and IMO, important when traveling), it was absolutely immaculate and still wonderfully cozy and inviting. Breakfast was delicious and there was plenty of food; there was a cold buffet to ease your hunger while you wait for your made-to-order hot breakfast! (Or you can get it to-go) Murray was very upfront about charges (cash payment is cheaper than credit card; CC fee is added on to the room rate-don't worry there are several cashpoints in town, so this was no problem) and house requests (please order your breakfast the night before). He was also very helpful in helping us plan our stay in Pitlochry. If you need help finding a laundry or a hidden gem of a distillery then Murray is your man. I only hope all of our BnB experiences in Scotland are this excellent!

Want to thank Deborah and Murray for once again making us feel so welcome. Our room was perfect and immaculately presented. Breakfast was amazing every morning. They are such a lovely couple and we can't wait to be back there again in August.

Not that good a stay for me. Traveling alone I booked their single, Room #3 and it is tiny. Not just tiny, but I believe the smallest room I have ever stayed in and not worth the price. Harry Potter had a larger room under the stairs in Uncle Vernon’s house. Whatever you do, do not take this closet. I arrived early and was told to come back four hours later (knowing I was there, how long can it take to clean a room?). Walking through town on my way to Willows, I found a take-out restaurant that had what I wanted for lunch.  When I asked at the Willows if I could eat it in the dining room, Murray the owner said no, there might be an odor. So, my host, my liaison in Pitlochry turned me away and I was forced to eat my lunch on the sidewalk, sitting on the curb (kerb in the UK). So much for being the perfect host. Finally, when checking out, I was told if I use a credit card to pay for the room (who doesn't use a CC to pay for a room?) I would have to pay the service charge. That to me is part of the cost of doing business for any business. I used the same card on this trip for multiple B&Bs, restaurants and hotels, all subject to the same service charges. Not one asked for more than the posted price. And this on top of what I feel was an overly expensive room for nothing. The place was clean and neat but not for me. They don't get it.

Victoria's Restaurant is a laid-back dining spot located on the main street of Pitlochry. It has been serving locals and visitors for over 25 years, offering a diverse menu for brunch, lunch, and dinner. The family-owned bistro features a terrace and serves up local comfort food alongside cosmopolitan flavors from around the world, as well as classic French and British cuisine.
Visited this restaurant a couple of weeks ago. This was my best eat out experience in the UK so far. Cuisine is delicious and includes multiple local Scottish dishes. We tried a lot of this and that. Sauces are great. The meat in my venison burger was a bit burnt but that was the only minor issue. None of the food caused heartburn as it is often in other places. I also strongly recommend the waiter called Abhi. He was really helpful and also an interesting person to speak to (we failed to guess where does he come from and then he shared his story) We sat until the restaurant closed and no one was trying to make us leave in advance. To sum up, a really decent place with surprisingly reasonable prices.

A very nice Italian restaurant on the main road of Pitlochry. This hotel was recommended by the owner of the hotel we were staying at. He recommended to make a reservation as it would get full quickly. Maybe it was the time ofthe year, but we felt it was not needed. There were plenty of spaces available. As always, better to get a reservation. We had pasta dishes, a beer and a wine. The pairing was good and the pasta were excellent. A definite return if I get a chance. We sat in the patio, just off the road. We people watched as we ate, which was fun. The staff were friendly, service was quick and the food came hot. Overall, an amazing place to end your day after roaming around Pitlochry main road and the dam.

I am Scottish and I came up here on a private tour with some clients. I stopped here for a working lunch and the food is of extremely high quality. Their isn’t many establishments that will serve you ayshire bacon and stornoway black pudding as part of a Scottish breakfast. Coffee beans they use are very good and I ended up having 3 cafe lattes.

First time visiting Pitlochry. As we were driving to avimore. Stopped off for some lunch . . Found this restaurant . Wasn't really busy as it was just 12 o'clock in the afternoon . Got a table for 6 . Was given water which was a nice touch . . We all ordered more or less the same from the menu .4 fish and chips . 2 stk pie and potato's..the meal was absolutely lovely. .what I would say is the prices are a bit steep when you've to pay £44 for 2 fish teas . . Infact all of us paid the same amount for a 1 course meal. I work in a 4 star hotel and we don't ask our customers to pay these kind of prices. .

4.5 stars here. After some deep research of the options in Pitlochry, we chose Victoria’s for its menu variety-Scottish, Italian, Latin, etc. We were not disappointed. There is a nice flower rimmed patio here that would have been our preference but alas Scottish weather did not cooperate. Interior basic tables and chairs. Attentive service much appreciated. A number of Scottish cuisine dishes caught my eye while perusing the menu. We picked Garlic Bread to start, mainly due to the fact that across the board we have enjoyed amazing breads while in Scotland. Though it could have had more garlic flavor, the bread was delicious. My DW was not overly hungry so she chose the Beetroot and Goat Cheese salad. This was pronounced delicious and mention was made of the mild, not too robust, flavor of the cheese. Scottish lamb-Roast Rump of Perthshire Lamb-was my choice. Served with ratatouille & dauphinoise potatoes, both of which I felt were truly outstanding. The potatoes especially were an excellent compliment to the lamb. I was pleasantly surprised how the flavor of the lamb was much less “gamey” than most of my past experiences. The unctuous flavor was eye opening and the red wine jus added deep flavor to the dish. Loved it. We skipped dessert here for the ice cream shop down the street. If you visit Pitlochry, be advised that the tourist busses can flood the town day and evening so if you want to visit Victoria’s, best to make a reservation. Highly recommended.

Staff very friendly. Prices quite fair. Good presentation lovely, but tasteless. My partner had fish which was over cooked and panko battered. I ordered duck- rubbery, served too cool and tasteless. The dauphenoise potatoes were poorly prepared scalloped. Would not eat here again.

We visited here twice one at lunchtime and one at the evening during our time in Pitlochry. My Fiancé is coeliac and I’d spotted online that there is a gluten-free menu and seemed to be pretty cleared up on the precautions needed for coeliac. We were pleased to eat here and have a really positive experience with staff very familiar with what coeliac is and the necessary precautions needed. Food is prepared separately and they’re also super cautious as when we ordered something off the menu the chef doublecheck the ingredients and realised that it may contain gluten so they came back to the table to check if we wanted something else which shows how cautious they seem to be!

Fantastic place to stay in one of the most beautiful places in Scotland. We were only there for one night but could have happily stayed for longer. The rooms was spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. They even hung on to our bags after check-out as our train was not until later that afternoon. Dinner was a treat and you are spoiled for choice. The waiting staff were superb and the food was excellent, especially the haggis. Will be booking again for next year but plan to stay a bit longer. Well done.

We stayed in a twin room at the Townhouse, just across the street from the main hotel. We were escorted from the hotel check-in desk to the townhouse main entrance, which was a thoughtful service. The room was quaint, very comfortable and surprisingly modern, considering the historic age of the building. We had a slight issue with the sink, which maintenence remedied immediately. As advertised, note that there is no lift and several flights of stairs, depending on your room. Not a problem if you're comfortable with that! Since we were just staying a night, we left our suitcase in the car and just brought in what we needed. Very convenient to the Rie-Achan Road Car Park, which was reasonably priced for overnight parking. If you're coming by train, it's also a short walk from the station. Great stay, and we would definitely book again!

We had a nice big bedroom overlooking the high street, clean and comfortable, which was lovely. It was also directly over the bar, which is fine if you dont want to sleep! Music went off at about 11pm and the cellar was stocked at 5am. Imagine an erratic earthquake! The room was actually shaking. Stick with the traditional Scottish breakfast, which was good and the buffet was fine - the smashed avocado with poached eggs was actually served with a pre-bought green paste, no sundried tomatoes. Some staff were nice, some were pretty surly and short on smiles. The hotel is spotlessly clean and in a great location. Just ask for a room away from the bar, stay conservative with your food choices and you should be fine!

Lovely, welcoming hotel for us and our dog. Room was nice and clean, if a little dated, please don't be put off. We ate at night and we certainly wouldn't have any complaints. Breakfast in the morning was the only real disappointment, coffee was cold and the poached eggs were almost still clucking. So disappointing but wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Our overall experience at McKays is good. The check-in was easy and the location is fabulous. We stayed at the McKays Townhouse and it very much felt like staying in a sparce flat- no pictures, very small room and not equipped with plugs, etc in the same way a hotel room is. That said, it was comfortable. The breakfast was excellent, and I would definitely return but only if the hotel itself had availability.
Sam G — Google review
the staff we had were lovely, no complaints to them (apart from one) we order our food, 2 sides 2 mains 2 cokes, 76ish pound if came to, more expensive than places in the middle of edinburgh city. Now if the food was good there would be no complaints however it was terrible, the burger was small, did not taste nice, the chips that were “dirty fries” were terrible, cheese sauce and cheese sprinkled on top yet there was no cheesy taste surprisingly, the chicken schnitzel had a very weird texture like cheap frozen poundland chicken, the mash potatoes were very nice however. the chicken wings were also nice tasting, dry but nothing too bad. then we got two sauces, and got charged double, i ask the server and they give me a refund, then i check my refund and i was short changed a pound, again nothing crazy but you charge me double then short changed my refund?? regardless of this staff were all nice that we spoke to, service was fast too but the food is ridiculous overpriced for the quality and taste that you pay for. sauces were 3.50 for reference i got two, charged £14 then got a £6 refund makes me think is this intentional?

Amazing dinner at Fern Cottage! Quaint restaurant with a gourmet feel in the heart of Pitlochry, just a short walk from our B&B. Made reservations online the day before. Nice and cozy little restaurant. We just ordered a quick dinner during a quick stop on our tour, they let us know they were already fully booked but that we could sit in the terrace which was even better. The venue is stunning, elegant and cozy with an infectious atmosphere. The food…sublime! Mouthwatering, diverse options and excellent value. The menu features local Scottish produce and seafood, as well as daily specials. Visitors can enjoy local real ales and Orkney Corncrake lagers while dining on options like mixed seafood pakora, chicken salad, roast, seafood linguine, burgers, and beetroot salad.
Lovely old pub with a great selection of beers and a varied menu. The home-cooked bread and balmoral chicken were both amazing! Friendly and helpful service and really nice feel to it. Inside decor is lovely and outside tables are great when the weather is good. It’s on the Main Street so not a great place to have a meal with your girlfriend before the Coldplay concert but the meal would probably make it worth your wife finding out!

We had a wonderful dinner at The Auld Smiddy. It's a lively spot loved by both locals and visitors—definitely worth booking ahead. The service was excellent. The staff were attentive, friendly, and full of good recommendations, which made us feel really well looked after. We shared a cheese board to start, tried one of the daily specials, and had the venison & pancetta tagliatelle ragù for the main. Everything was delicious. The sticky toffee pudding, though, was the highlight—I’d recommend it to anyone. We’ll definitely be back, and we highly recommend it if you’re visiting Pitlochry or the surrounding area.

We visited the inn for dinner, and it’s a nice place that locals frequent for drinks and food. We particularly enjoyed the cosy local pub atmosphere and the attentive service. The food was good, with the monkfish scampi and chowder being our favourites. The oyster and seafood linguine was average.

Sat outside on beautiful afternoon. Well separated from the street. Very nice. Picnic tables were a bit uncomfortable but the setting was great. Service was very good, very attentive. Stopped here on Saturday for "a pint" ended up staying for several. First time out after back injury and I was comfortable and well looked after. The staff were amazing the two guys on the bar were well suited for a bar it's nice to have proper bar staff working a bar and if you have been for a pint anywhere else in the town you will know what i mean. They even made a fuss over out very hot and narky little dog who loved all the attention and even sampled one of their chews on offer. We cant wait to come back and grab some food everything coming out of the kitchen looked superb. Thanks guys see you soon.

We are a family of 5. We stayed at their McPherson’s cottage. It is really spacious with lots of room for teenagers to spread out. Everything was spotlessly clean and tidy. Cute little garden and you can grab a pint from their pub over the road. Located up the hill from Pitlochry, we were able to walk to and from the high street but if your fitness or mobility are limited you might need to drive or taxi it.

Great place to grab a bite to eat after a walk. The haggis was excellent and the beers which are brewed just across the road are decent enough too. Friendly service and quick delivery of food to the table in a cosy bar setting which was for once happily devoid of blaring music and tv’s.
Henry T — Google review
We had the GREATEST time at the Moulin Hotel. Clara, Jeremy, Sadie, Charlie,Mo and the rest of the staff were pleasant, friendly and attentive to our every need. This is officially the OLDEST hotel I have ever stayed in (over 300 YEARS OLD!), yet, everything was comfortable and modernized. I took a star off because for some reason our room was very humid and the radiators only ran for a few hours in the morning, so a couple times it was a bit cold- but they fixed it when I notified them and all was well. Pitlochry is a charming little town, and the area around is quite scenic. Finally, the Moulin has its own brewery and had a pub attached where we ate all of our meals during our stay. The food and local brew was very good, and the service top notch. If you have the opportunity, you should stay here. Notice for handicapped/physically challenged- there are no elevators due to the age of the building, and no rooms on the ground floor.

Stayed 1 night in Room 9. Sadly never again!! The whole place is full of character, but in need of a darn good clean, and upgrade. Creaky old lumpy mattress, but nice warm duvet and firm pillows. Room is dusty in places, there's a wallpaper rip behind the double bed, and nasty marks on wall by single bed. The room is very outdated and care-worn looking. Bedside lamp clicks and wobbles to the point of irritation. The wallpapered ceiling is separating at the seams. Windows very leaky and condensation by morning. The bathroom is so 1970's outdated and off-putting to use; the floor has 3 cracked tiles and evidence of previous guest hair (both long & short curlies!) on floor by the bath. The grey dust is thick on the door frame, skirting board & extractor fan. Cobwebs in corners and spider on ceiling above the bath. We decided not to shower here. Staff were a mix, but did not offer to carry luggage up to room. We appreciate it is an old building, but at 11:40pm had to knock on next door room to ask the guest to lower her voice, as her conversation was clearly heard through the wall. No night porter or staff in evidence when I went downstairs to complain. Every door creaks and a serious dose of WD40 would be a good plan. Full Scottish Breakfast was pleasant but skimpy with only 1 small rasher of bacon & 1 egg along with its other items. Very dry food but nice service. Taxidermy stuffed animals everywhere in the public areas, and very off-putting while eating just feet away from foxes, badgers and dead birds. No staff at reception in the morning, so left keys and headed home to shower. Rear car park would benefit from a string of white lights to highlight the uneven areas in dark. Very disappointed.

Slightly strange experience! VERY expensive for what you get. Room was hugely dated (I love character in rooms, however this was bad). Holes in bathroom wall, awful finishings and unclean surfaces! While plugging in my charger beside the bed, I even discovered prescription medication pills on the floor! Very dangerous especially for children!! Dinner was delicious however service was strange. I really do think a uniform policy for staff would be a great idea and just make it all slightly more professional. I understand Pitlochry is an expensive area for accommodation but I would realistically not spend more than £70 a night in this hotel. No staff at reception for checking out. Plenty parking and beautiful exterior of building….I don’t enjoy writing negative reviews however needs to be said!

Giod selection of water based activities, plenty to hire and a very picturesque setting to explore. Nice cafe for afters. No online booking so you have to contact via telephone, proved tricky 1 day, was fine the other

Gentlemen, the day we spent rafting with you was one of the most beautiful days in Scotland. Thank you again for a wonderful adventure, and we will definitely be back. Thank you so much!
Krzysztof W — Google review
I previously rented a boat last year and was met with a less than friendly welcome. However I was able to hire a boat which was the point of this excursion. Today I returned to do the same thing and was met with the less than friendly welcome from last year. However today I was told that it was out of season and no boats were available for hire. This was all presented matter of factly without a smile, sorry for the inconvenience or a friendly invite to enjoy their other facilities. I tried to point out that I had hired a boat the previous year at this time, this was not even acknowledged and in fact the lady was already turning her back on me and walking away I was talking. May I point out there was no one else there to ‘distract’ After reading other reviews I fully expect a dissertation pointing out all the ways I am wrong and it is all my fault. May I suggest alternatively using that wasted time by practicing customer facing skills.

Absolutely gorgeous spot! Had delicious soup and bloomer bread cut into door steps. I believe it was sweet potato coconut and chilli. Mister had a breakfast sandwich which he enjoyed.

First time travelling up to the Cairngorms and stopped at Pitlochry boating Station for a bite to eat and ended up hiring a boat for an hour. Such a beautiful place and the staff there were very friendly. Stunning views and surroundings and very reasonably priced. Recommended to walkers and water enthusiasts.

Great place, delicious coffee and amazing views. Just don't advice to go near closing time (5 o'clock), owner gives clues to leave in a bit rude way. You can also buy special food for ducks and feed them.

Atholl Palace Museum, situated in the hotel's basement, offers a captivating journey into the town's history. It provides insights into the lives of guests and workers from 140 years ago. Visitors can explore compelling exhibits featuring past staff members who immigrated to Pitlochry to support their families by working at the hotel. The museum also showcases a fascinating film documenting the hotel's rich history, making it an educational and immersive experience for all visitors.
Very educational, loved the pictures of past staff. How they emigrated to work in pitlochry to earn money for their families, they made the hotel and earned their keep in the hotel back then but now all i'd recommend is visiting the museum as the hotel now is absolutely disgraceful or how it was then to how it is now.

Welcome to top sirloin food where you’ll pay high price for cheap steak, small rooms, creaky floors and uncomfortable beds. Awesome view but awful food for the price. when they cleaned the room, they knock at 0900 waking us up and don’t replace basic things like the water.

It's cool to learn about the hotel's history if you're a guest, but I wouldn't come all the way here if I hadn't been

This place is over priced for a stay if you book through the hotel , even tho I stayed three night it was dated and not maintained well ,tap fell off tiles floor had movement in them so to me it was three star . And spa was not even open !!!...the good points was the food was good so was the gardens and some of the staff where 5 star but one or two of them let them down . Been in better hotels for what I pay for here !!!

Nestled in the historical district of Pitlochry, Fishers Hotel offers warmly decorated rooms and several bars within a former coaching inn near the train station. The eco-certified hotel provides easy access to attractions like Pitlochry Festival Theatre and Bells Blair Athol Distillery. Guests can enjoy views from the terrace and garden, as well as complimentary wireless internet access.
This is a old and grand building in the heart of town. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and well appointed. The bed was comfortable and the shower excellent. I would definitely book this again.
John S — Google review
The hotel is right in the middle of town. Perfect location to spend a few days and you will not run out of things to do or places to eat. Hotel staff was amazing and breakfast was good. The only reason we gave a 4 star for the room was the heat (no AC), view (dumpster), and awkward ceilings. If you are over 6ft do not get room 221. Our friends stayed in 122 and that room was awesome. Spacious and a great view. Both rooms were clean and king size beds were more than comfortable.
Jeff K — Google review
Pleasant enough hotel, containing rooms with beds in. Our room was moderately clean, but the bathroom was rather tired, with the bath side showing wear and signs of water damage. Slight smell of cooking grease permeating the corridors. Afternoon tea was fabulous, and reception and wait staff all very pleasant and helpful. Location was OK, and easy to find - slightly irritated by a £5.00 additional parking charge on top of hotel's own bill.
Andy B — Google review
Hotel is very convenient for the train station. Clean, lovely grounds, we were in the garden rooms, quiet as away from the main street. Breakfasts were good, self-service with plenty choice.
Fiona P — Google review
Hotel itself is lovely. Nice big room lovely and clean and a good breakfast. The big let down for us was the coach house . They have a ridiculous rule that kids are not allowed to go inside and play pool as there is a fruit machine in same room even though it was 4pm in afternoon with no one else inside and my kids are 15 and 16. Then when my husband ordered a round of drinks the barstaff were very unhelpful. I would rather go back to the Atholl palace where my teenagers can use all facilities.
Susan H — Google review
This hotel is not 4 stars. There were several people waiting in the lobby at around 5.30pm waiting for keys as their rooms had not been turned down yet (check in is at 4). Decor is the halls is dusty. Had a shower this morning, I use The Highland Soap Co at home, it’s nothing like the stuff they had in the bottles at Fishers Hotel. The shower gel made me itchy all over and the conditioner was watered down and lumpy. 4 star hotels don’t water down the conditioner. If you visit this place and you’re not from Scotland then this is not an accurate representation of the soap which is usually extremely high quality.
Pip W — Google review
Specifically booked this place over another because it advertised electric car charging. The other hotel had parking included for free, this one costs £5, but I figured it would be worth it to be able to charge my car during my stay. I've now arrived to find none of their chargers are working. So now I still have to pay £5 for parking, plus whatever the charge on the public charger costs, plus an hour of my time spent at a public charger. Very disappointed at this service being advertised when it isn't actually being provided.
Lucy D — Google review
Arrived here this morning and still attempting to get some sleep but this hard slab that is considered a bed and these hard rocks that are being called pillows are making sleep impossible. I have not ever experienced such extremely hard pillows and beds. I would also recommend that people with any mobility issues not choose this location since you have to try to climb over a high bathtub to be able to shower. We did ask at the front desk if they had anything with an accessible shower but the only option for that was 10 or so stairs to climb. Also it is important to note that the rooms have no fridge which I have never come across before when traveling anywhere even in Scotland. I do not want to give reception my injection medication to hold for me and so will just have to use my insulin travel storage and keep wetting it for my medication hopefully doing this will keep my medication for the days I am spending here.

The hotel's Atholl Palace Verandah Restaurant provides a delightful dining experience, complemented by attractions like the Japanese Garden and Atholl Palace museum.
Location good Rooms clean with comfy beds and well stocked tea/coffee etc Spa very good - could do with weights added to the gym (friends request not mine!) and a sauna ..... Treatment excellent and cheaper than my local place Reception / breakfast staff very helpful Yes the seal around the shower was needing replaced and a few knocks out the paintwork in room but you get what you pay for and to be honest have paid more for much worse! Good choice of breakfast and afternoon tea delicious and loads of it (at £30 is pricey but alot of both savoury and sweets on offer and happy to provide take away box for leftovers)

We have just come back from a 4 night stay at this hotel. The hotel in itself is excellent the rooms are clean when you arrive. The staff are friendly The breakfast is a buffet breakfast with plenty to offer. The big draw back is the house keeping. It did not exist. After been out all day the last thing you want to do is to come back to an untidy room bed not made bins not emptied and nothing refilled like milk etc, this happened on three of the four nights we stayed. So on this i give you 3 stars. Might put me off going back. A real shame.
John H — Google review
Location, Pitlochry is lovely. The hotel leaves a lot to be desired. It's not as described. I booked two rooms at a cost of £644 for two nights which was probably average. I would have expected far more for the money. The hotel is a dump. The rooms are dated and dirty. I was rang on my way to the hotel to be told that the pool was unavailable due to high chlorine levels, really. How does that happen. No apology given. I had booked the hotel specifically for the pool as my granddaughter had travelled with us. I am writing this review whilst at the hotel. I'm sat in my partner's room which is like being in a greenhouse due to the thermostat on the radiator being useless. Hopefully someone who can make some changes will read this and get their finger out and spend some money. Do not book this hotel it's not fit for purpose.
Neil G — Google review
Beautiful location. Just spent the night. Did not try out all the things they had on offer. Bit of a maze but the signage is good to find the rooms. It's a modernize hotel so the room layout a interesting. Great breakfast layout.
Dillon W — Google review
After reading a number of poor reviews recently I was worried ahead of arrival. But I found everything agreeable. The staff were competent and attentive. The room was clean and comfy, it is very conveniently located to the village, free (limited) parking. Breakfast was fine, not bad, not fantastic. Did not use the spa facilities but the hotel part met my standards and expectations. While there is room for improvement, there is potential here and deserved a mention in light of the recent low scoring reviews
Conrad C — Google review
Only stay here if you are looking for place for storage of bags and a car park. This is the worst accommodation me and my partner have stayed in. The windows wouldn’t close, my partner ended up sorting it after staff tried. The room smells and is outdated but most of all it is absolutely freezing. We checked in at 4 in middle of October and the room was baltic compared to the cosy reception area. We asked several times for the heating to be turned on and the staff were incredibly rude and need training on customer service, even at 9pm we still had no heating. We got put in a room just down from the dining room and by 7 you were up from the noise of everyone walking passed and talking. The swimming pool and spa facilities also weren’t in use. The location is amazing but you need it to be cause you will want to spend every minute of the time out of the hotel and in a cosy establishment.
Zoe — Google review
we booked in for a spa and high tea package (no room booking ). The spa is absolutely filthy and should be shut down. Black grime and mould in the steam room, dirty drains, grime in the jacuzzi. The place should be shut down and given a deep clean. We stayed 20 minutes then asked for a full refund which we were given. We didnt want to risk high tea. Although we didn’t stay in the hotel the common areas are also needing a major clean.
David L — Google review
Do NOT waste your time or money in this hotel. It’s dirty, outdated, and when you alert the staff and ask for a different room, they will snicker to each other as you walk away after no solution can be found. After seeing the state of our room, the dust, the filthy carpet and curtains, we would not even get near the spa. The bed had a wet spot on it from an unknown source and no fridge in the room. The lift was out of order, there are dead bugs in the corners of the hallways and an inch of dust on the furniture and walls. For the amount of money we spent to stay at a spa hotel, I expected a LOT more. At least being clean. Will be sharing my experience with the travel agencies and we will never be back. Check out the Old Mill as it’s close by and their restaurant was amazing!

Pitlochry Dam is a must-visit when in the area. The new Visitor Centre offers stunning views of the dam, hydro station, and Loch Faskally from its cantilevered position over the River Tummel. A walk from Pitlochery Recreation ground car park to the dam provides an educational experience for kids with well-marked signage and a visitor center at the top. The surrounding area is beautiful, perfect for a leisurely walk or observing salmon.
Beautiful area to have a walk, watch the salmons and relax. The surrounding area is just beautiful, with a couple of bars and the Fonab Castle Hotel near by (a bad place to work, but beautiful place stay).

December 2024: Worth a visit if in the area. Lovely interactive (free) visitor centre and cafe on site. It is possible to walk across the dam wall, look into the pumping area and also see the salmon ladder. Great views on a clear day. A nice, peaceful attraction to visit. Car park on site next to the visitor centre or more car parks further in town a short walk away. Hope to revisit and see the dam in operation one day!
Christian E — Google review
It is a small dam but perfectly formed, with main generation plant in behind the dam itself and windows along the walkway allow you to view inside, but not a lot to see. There are large booms across the loch to keep logs from doing damage and paths from here go round Loch Faskally so a good walking area. There is a new visitor centre if you want to find out more.

The property provides ample space for parking, making it biker-friendly and convenient for those exploring Scotland on two wheels.
We go to Pitlochry ever year for three nights to allow us to see ask did shows at the Festival Theatre. We need a comfortable location to stay, tour the area from, and have as a base. We've stayed in a couple of places, but have settled in this b&b as the best for us. Although it only has three rooms, all are very well appointed, very comfortable beds, lovely bathroom etc, and the rooms are good to relax in when there. The house is in a perfect location in Pitlochry, at the same "end" of Pitlochry as the theatre (it's a small town, but gets very busy and the main street can choke up with tour buses! ). Marie has always a really genuine and friendly welcome, and she does a really great breakfast.

Eggs any way you want, toast, bacon, sausage, black pudding, mushrooms... Couldn't ask for more. If we ever get back this way, we'll be staying her again.

Ellangowan House B&B is a beautiful home, on a beautiful property, in a very quiet area of Pitlochry, that is only minutes walk to the town center. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there a few weeks ago. The rooms were beautiful, large, and comfortable. Mairi was a spectacular host, serving a wonderful breakfast each day in a beautifully decorated dining area. It was such a relaxing atmosphere. A large driveway to park in, with great views of the valley. Spectacular!!

We visit Pitlochry every year for the Enchanted Forest. Always staying locally in Pitlochry. The Ellangowan was ideally located for us who like walking everywhere. The room was tidy, bed was comfy, decor was dated in the bedroom but the bathroom was recently renewed. But didn't put us off. Breakfast was very nice and the owners were very polite and welcoming. The payment is by cash or bank transfer. All in all a pleasant stay.

This was a 2 day stay at Ellangowan for myself and my husband...its biker friendly as we are on a motorbike holiday around Scotland. Ellangowan is by far a 5* accoundation in my opinion, with lots of room for motorcycles...we stayed in room 3 which is a huge room, with lots of space and it was beautifully furnished with lots homely finishing touches, it has a huge bathroom to match with a shower and bath....Our hostess was a lovely lady called Mary, who was very attentive to our comfort during our stay. Breakfast is served between 8 and 9 so a wee lie in for us, the choice of continental breakfast or full English or mix and match, nothing was to much trouble, cannot recommend this charming edwardian B&B enough. We are very happy with our stay and will be returning in the near future. Catherine and Steven from Newcastle.
