Wineries & Vineyards
The Islander Estate Vineyards is a must-visit destination for wine enthusiasts on Kangaroo Island. Situated in the picturesque Cygnet River area, this vineyard was founded by a French winemaker who was captivated by the region's beauty. The wines produced here exude a distinct Bordeaux influence, reflecting the founder's expertise from producing wines in France. Despite its small cellar door, visitors can still enjoy intimate tastings and learn about the winemaking process.
Had a wonderful time sampling the wines at this cosy little winery. Giacomo did an amazing job taking us on the tasting journey through a variety of wines, expertly explaining each one. Enjoyed the experience so much, it would’ve been a crime not to take a bottle home with me. Would definitely return and recommend to others visiting Kangaroo Island. 🍷 🦘 🏝️👌

Our experience we great. Giacomo did an amazing job taking us on the tasting journey through a variety of wines, expertly explaining each one. Myself & my husband enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. We were not rushed at all we were able to sample each glass a wine as we went. After sampling the fantastic wines, we purchased 6 bottles to take home with us. One we are bottle of Rose which we normally do not drink. We really enjoyed this one. We will be suggesting this winery to anyone visiting KI in the furthur.

Nice winery in a very unique location. Enjoyed a red wine premium wine taste flight which was very enjoyable with our friends and whilst I baulked a bit a the tasting price the wine was very good The service however was not in line with the premium wine tasting price and the gentlemen that serviced us may have been having a bad day; it wasn’t the most welcoming experience we had at KI One of our friends wanted a taste of of the semillion after the premium tasting however was advised that they had to purchase a full glass of the semillion , rather than purchasing a tasting sample of the semillion which was extremely disappointing. We both purchased wine on the day and maybe going forward you should provide the option of further sampling tastes be purchased on a individual basis rather than purchasing a full glass or another tasting flight Good wine that we will enjoyed and look forward to visiting again

Hands down the best wine on Kangaroo Island. The cellar door is situated in Cygnet River and is open daily except for Wednesdays 12 - 5pm. Recognized by Australian Gourmet Traveller as Australia's Best Cellar Door and tasting experience in May 2021 it's definitely well worth a visit. Sadly, on January 10th 2020 their vineyards were completely burnt down however with the quick thinking of the owners, staff and locals they managed to save their wine bottles, barrels and tanks and can now continue selling their outstanding range. Please go and support Islander Estate by visiting their cellar door, purchase your favourite wines and share the love. Enjoy!

Was there with a group of 4. Sat outside on the deck and enjoyed the premium $30 tasting. Liked how they had a selection of grazing food so you could arrange your own nibbles. On offer were crackers, cheese, salami, olives, etc. Staff were very welcoming and friendly, and although they were scheduled to close at 5pm, we ended up leaving after 6pm, and we didn't feel rushed. They also offered to help with locating a missing phone which we thought was left at the Bee Farm up the road, they called them and others they knew for us, referring to the "Kangaroo Island Grapevine". (The phone was later discovered in my husband's pocket). Overall a lovely spot to visit.
Fiona H — Google review
By far tenets wines we tried on the island. Venue was really nice. Made and paid for a booking online but they couldn’t find it and you could only select a day to visit on the booking sheet - not a time so would recommend just calling. Overall great experience and reasonable size of tasting list for the price. Definitely worth a visit
Alyssa — Google review
Super friendly and personalised tasting. It’s a smaller cellar door but definitely worth a visit. You can build your own basket of local foods to pair with your wine 🍷 great!
Alix — Google review
An impressive range of wines, each thoughtfully presented. Giacomo had knowledge, warmth, and attention to detail elevated the entire experience. A rare blend of charm and professionalism.

Dudley Wines, a family-owned winery with over 20 years of history, is located in a stunning spot overlooking the northern coast of Kangaroo Island. The winery has gained recognition in the South Australian Tourism Award for its exceptional venue and quality produce. What started as a small operation in a shearing shed has now become a popular destination offering tasteful wines and a full dining experience.
We had glorious weather which added to our experience however the pizzas are so delicious, almost as great as the view and the wines were amazing. We had a wine flight package that included the pizzas. The grounds are gorgeous and the staff are so good that you feel very welcome and their knowledge is so valuable. This is a must visit
Kellee W — Google review
Nestled on the coast with breathtaking panoramic views of the sea, this winery offers a delightful escape. The wine tasting was a genuine pleasure, showcasing a well-curated selection of their own vintages. Each sip was complemented perfectly by the delicious food menu, featuring fresh, locally sourced ingredients. What truly stood out, however, was the warm and attentive service. The staff were knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about the winery and the region. It's a place where you can easily lose track of time, savoring good wine, tasty food, and that incredible view. Highly recommended!
Krisztina B — Google review
We started off our KI trip heading straight to Dudley Wines and it did not disappoint. The views are incredible, as well as the food and wine (definitely buy some bottles on your way out). Highly recommend 🍷
Emma A — Google review
A fabulous winery with a fantastic view across Backstairs Passage! Great pizzas, platters made with local produce & self-guided wine flights. Have been to Kangaroo Island a few times and always make sure to visit Dudley Wines.
Alyssa C — Google review
We booked the set menu online and it was great value. We shared a platter of nibbles followed by a tasty pizza each (we took leftovers because there was so much food). The wines were nice, I had a tasting flight (pictured) and my husband enjoyed the complimentary at-bar sampling before we chose our included glass each. The view over the ocean and cows in the valley was beautiful and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable.
Elena — Google review
Wrapped up the Kangaroo Island journey in the best way possible at Dudley Wines. A red wine tasting with stunning views set the tone—standouts like The Stud Shiraz and the Glossy Black Sweet Red hit just right. Paired it all with a Moroccan lamb pizza that was bursting with flavour, perfectly matched by the bold and juicy reds. Kicked back with a few rounds of table tennis, wine in hand, laughter echoing off the hills. And just when the day couldn’t get better—drove golf balls off the edge of a cliff into the ocean breeze, with the coastline stretching endlessly below. Absolutely unforgettable. Dudley Wines, you nailed it—laid-back, flavour-packed, and full of character. The perfect send-off from KI.

Great views, Incredible pizza. Wine was average in our opinion. Worth a visit
Kmol111 — Google review
Can't beat the view, plus the platter and pizzas were amazing too, as were the staff also. Only suggestion, think ceiling fans under the verandah would be a great addition, was only a mild day, but with no breeze, it got really warm.

Discover the charm of False Cape Wines, a renowned vineyard on Kangaroo Island established in 1999. Nestled along the Willson River on the Dudley Peninsula, it is the largest vineyard on the island, covering over 60 acres. The picturesque location offers a relaxing atmosphere at its Cellar Door where visitors can savor their acclaimed wines such as Captain Cabernet Sauvignon and The Chardonnay, both recipients of prestigious awards.
What a great first stop for our KI trip setting the bar high for expectations! The pies were truly outstanding with the roasted root vegetables almost stealing the show. I paired my slow cooked beef pie with the Captain Cabernet Sauvignon and Ben had the chicken and leek with the Chardonnay. We were both delighted with ourselves for our great decisions today 😄
Leanne K — Google review
A beautiful spot with nice food & wine! There is also a playground and a little area with farm animals to keep the kids entertained while Mum & Dad enjoy a glass of wine.
Alyssa C — Google review
Outstanding experience! This was the second place where we did a wine tasting here on Kangaroo Island, and it really surprised us — the views are beautiful and you can see the vineyards all around. The lady who hosted us was super friendly and explained the wines in detail, answered all our questions, and even gave us a little info sheet about each one. The wines were great, and the cheese platter was also really good and complete. We highly recommend this place!
Aiba — Google review
Beautiful location and lots of lovely places to sit. Wines were great. Just a small note, other wineries we have visited forfeited the tasting fee if we bought a dozen wines. We actually bought a dozen plus two extra bottles. I appreciate if you don't buy wines paying a tasting fee ($12/each) but when you do I feel maybe the fee could be waived.
Susan O — Google review
This place was recommended to me by a local friend & I headed there for lunch. I was advised that they do home made pies that are pretty good. When I got there to order my pie I was shocked of the price as it was a little high for just a pie. I assumed the price was due to the tourism of the island but I stand corrected. The pie was served as a gorgeous display of art & tasted as good as it looked. Worth every penny the meat was tender & plentiful in a subtle gravy topped with an array of delicious vegetables. I washed down my pie with a mixed taster of wines that included the Captain Chardonnay, Lady Ann Rose, Unknown Sailor Cab Merlot & the Captain Cab Sav which did not disappoint, what a great blend with my beef pie. If you are not afraid of dirt roads treat yourself to a lunch that will inspire your taste buds to want more.
Ben S — Google review
Is this the best cellar door on the island? The better question would be whether this is one of the best cellar door experiences in the state, it's that good. Staff are welcoming, genuine and know their product. We went for a tasting and and ended up staying for lunch and a leisurely extra glass. Food was excellent (recommend the brisket roll - see pics) if we lived in the area this would be a regular lunch venue. Not only are the wines the pick of the island they, and the food are very reasonably priced. Thoroughly recommended!
Perry W — Google review
Another wonderful visit to this fabulous winery! Took some friends along and we all had the delicious steak pies accompanied by superb wines. Mel looked after us so well. She is very knowledgeable and a wonderful hostess! A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.

The rustic-style venue offers signature gins and a variety of liqueurs for visitors to taste-test. Beautiful place to try KI gins Great for tasting and lunch Family and kids friendly as it is an open fenced space Lots of trees, if you are lucky you get to see a few koalas Would definitely recommend to do the tasting so you get to try the best gins they offer for $25 and try their signature cocktails

Whilst we couldn’t do the gin board for tasting as we were driving, we really enjoyed our gin cocktail and gin and tonic. The burgers and curly fries from Beasties Burger Bar was delicious and the atmosphere was lovely as well. Definitely worth a visit for sure.

Did the gin tasting and it was really great. Perfect for a chill day. Wish we could have gotten more stories and information on the gin and the history of the distillery. The burger shop next to it was Amazing!
Yuen L — Google review
What a splendid experience! We did 2 hours of Gin Blending experience class and every minute and cent spent was worth it! Our instructor- Ms. Mar gave us a good background of the distilling industry and the distilling process before diving into the ‘practical’! At the end, we left with a bottle of our own taste of blended gin!! May look a bit expensive but it’s 100% worth it! And yes, the bar, food joint and the garden were just a cherry on the cake! Thank you guys and keep up with the good work.
Nirmit S — Google review
Dropped into Kangaroo Island Spirits today and had an awesome time. The gin is spot on, but what really made it was the service – Jo looked after us and she was a legend. Super friendly, made us feel welcome, and knew her stuff. Definitely worth a visit if you’re on the island!
Dylan — Google review
Great gin and spirits to choose from. The gin flight was super tasty. I also enjoyed the spirit flight they offered as well. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The pizza was super tasty as well. The pizza is enough for one person. A couple should probably order two. Highly recommend visiting! Also they had a koala in the tree outside!

Shared a brilliant Friday afternoon and evening at K.I.S.. We had the pleasure of being taken through an amazing tasting and cocktail making experience by wonderful Ma including tour of distillery and garden. This was followed by some live music and great pizzas till the sunset. The whole team were fantastic hosts which ensured our visit to K.I.S. was a great start to a wonderful weekend on the Island. The tasting paddle allows guests to sample different ciders while learning about the interesting stories behind them.
Had an amazing time here! The cider tasting was fantastic, each one had its own unique flavor. The special meal and burger were both delicious, and even the tea was great. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff - definitely worth a couple of minutes off the main road. Thanks!

Visitors can enjoy delightful refreshments at the onsite café while exploring local crafts and souvenirs. The friendly atmosphere is enhanced by the presence of macropods, who often hang around to greet guests.
Stopped here during a tour of Kangaroo Island, lots of really lovely stuff in their gift shop and reasonably priced as well. We got to see one of the Emus just outside as well as a rescue roo. Staff were really friendly and helpful, and there's a nice cafe inside too. Definitely worth a visit!

The Eucalyptus distillery tour was a surprisingly delightful experience! Learning about the fascinating process of extracting the fragrant oil was very interesting, and the distinct aroma throughout the distillery was wonderful. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, making the tour both educational and enjoyable. Plus, the opportunity to sample and purchase unique eucalyptus products was a great bonus. Highly recommended for a unique sensory experience!

Emu Ridge Eucalyptus on Kangaroo Island offers more than just a product; it provides a genuine slice of Australian heritage. The distillery, the only commercial one left in South Australia, revives an industry that was once central to the island's economy. Their flagship product, 100% pure eucalyptus oil, is distilled from the indigenous Kangaroo Island Narrow-leaf Mallee and is known for its unique, pungent aroma. Customers rave about its versatility, using it for everything from household cleaning and stain removal to soothing muscle aches and clearing congestion. Beyond the oil, the Emu Ridge product line includes a variety of natural goods like skin creams, honey sweets, and body washes, all praised for their high quality and natural ingredients. Visitors to the farm gate store frequently highlight the friendly, knowledgeable staff and the authentic, family-run atmosphere. A visit is often described as a must-do for any Kangaroo Island road trip, offering a fascinating tour, a delightful cafe with local produce, and the chance to see rescue kangaroos and emus. It’s a wonderful example of a sustainable, family-owned business that’s proudly preserving a unique part of Australian history.

A must when you visit Kangaroo Island. Food - I had the smashed avo and a coffee, both were amazing! Best coffee on the island! Desserts all looked delicious, great place to stop for breakfast, snacks or lunch. Atmosphere- inviting, warm and all the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Love the family history, 5 minute video is worth taking the time to see. Products - many wonderful local oils and more. Kangaroo and wallaby sanctuary on the grounds, lovely to see the help and support for local wildlife. Definitely recommend stopping here when you visit the island.

Fabulous place to visit , we had our dog Indy & she was most welcome to come inside the gift shop & cafe. The food was excellent, staff friendly & helpful. Definitely recommend a guided tour as there is alot to learn about the distillery. The gift shop was full of local products & particularly the eucalyptus range was outstanding. Loved it!! Made our day. Leanne, Callum & Indy

This was not somewhere that was on my to-do list. I was expecting an over-priced tourist trap on the coach-trip rotation. I've rarely been so pleased to be completely wrong about something. It's a family business with a fascinating history, there's no pushy selling and the staff there seem genuine about their welcome for visitors. A great range of stock - I never thought we'd want so many eucalyptus products. Top tips: Go early and have breakfast in their cafe - trust me on this, you'll not regret it. Take the short but interesting guided tour - great value and well worth it.

Vivonne Bay General Store is a must-visit rustic eatery on Kangaroo Island, offering the iconic KI Whiting Burger and a convenient stop for travelers exploring the island. Situated halfway between the east and west ends of Kangaroo Island, this charming spot is perfect for grabbing fresh seafood to enjoy at your accommodation or on the beach.
Stopped in for coffee (which was great and very well priced) on the way to Flinders Chase National Park. Had heard about the famous Whiting Burger which did not disappoint. Speedy service and great facilities. Don't judge the quality by the unassuming facade. Well worth stopping!
Ben B — Google review
I was on a quest to try this famous Whiting Burger at the Vivonne Bay General Store, which was a rather random mission. I'm glad I did it as it hit the spot! We turned up rather late and in a hurry around 3pm. It was chilly outside on this day and we had not eaten for a long time so we need belly fuel. That being said, they did have a wood burner going which was not doing much considering how big the dining shed area was. My son had the Cheeseburger and there were no complaints from his camp. Even the chips were given a seven-year-old thumbs up and he is pretty picky, despite having very good judgement. The only negative I can see here is how spartan the general store was. It felt like an after-thought for diners....like candy at the check out till in a supermarket. Impulse material. Mind you, many of the tourist destinations on KI have the same view towards dressing out there stores. My general parting comments: great fish burger. It lived up to its reputation and yes I would eat it again.

Lunch stop post buggy tour at Little Sahara. Two of us enjoyed the famous whiting burger and the other a beef burger. All were delicious, fresh and crispy. A must do for visitors to the Island. Would recommend and always include in my visits here.

Delicious food. We absolutely loved the cheese burgers. Definitely up there with the best cheeseburger. The patty tasted like it was home cooked. Really nicely cooked patty, quite thick with onions. Delicious flavour. Husband had cheese burger with the lot and loved it. Also had chicken nuggets and chips and was delicious. As we left around 1 pm the place was absolutely full so best if you can get in early. Eg before the bus load of tourists arrive. Although I can see why this place is popular. Also has a general store with basic necessities there too.

What a beautiful place for sunset. So glad my husband booked this place at just the right time. We had wallabies visit us on the lawn in front of the deck. The food was all so beautiful; we had the degustation and everything was perfect. Loved everything about this place! Great way to spend our 1 year anniversary.

10/10! We were here on Saturday evening to enjoy the “Chef’s Menu”. It currently consists 8 courses. The composition is unique and insanely good. The ingredients are local from the island and of incredible quality. The prices are more than fair for what you get! The entire stay couldn't be topped - the food, the service, the location and all the employees and the owner made the evening something very special. If you would like to have a unique dining experience that is just excellent and fair priced, you should definitely eat here.

Me and my partner finally made it to this restaurant. Was sad to find out it closed its winery many years too late for us to try their wines. Good selection of wines from South Australia. We had the degustation menu, a little disappointed in the first few options, (bit of lackluster) but the end of the meal was super. Very quiet only 1 other dining couple. The staff were very lovely and very accommodating and helpful.

Beautiful location. Food was amazing my partner and I did the set menu for his birthday and all the dishes we really good. Definitely would recommend. Really enjoyed the Chardonnay and they have a great selection of non alcoholic wines too

Millie Mae's Pantry is a charming cafe and grocer located in Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island. The owner, Jan Ordway, has created a welcoming space that reflects her upbringing on the island. The cafe features handmade structures and a cozy courtyard shaded by a mulberry tree, offering a perfect spot to enjoy breakfast or lunch made from local produce.
Lovely cafe in town with beautiful inside and well thought of outside spaces. It has a fairly extensive menu with delicious savoury and sweet goods. The coffee is great. The staff are friendly. Food and coffee came out fairly quickly. Great place to fuel up for breakfast. They also have a cute shop inside. A bit on the pricey side but still reasonable given the quality.

A Hidden Treasure: Millie May’s Pantry is Pure Magic in Kangaroo Island Millie May’s Pantry is more than a café—it’s an experience. The place is warm, inviting, and thoughtfully styled, with vintage touches and cozy corners that make you want to linger just a little longer. The service? Absolutely wonderful. The staff are welcoming and friendly. It’s the kind of genuine hospitality that makes you feel like a regular—even on your first visit, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere that perfectly complements the space. And the food—what a delight. Every dish feels homemade yet elevated, packed with flavor and presented beautifully. We ordered Mediterranean baguette and Sausage Sizzle baguette, were an absolute standout, melting in mouth: light, flavorful, and unforgettable. The ingredients were fresh and of highest quality, I never had a baguette that fresh and fancy❤️! Whether you’re popping in for a quiet cup of coffee or settling in for a long, slow brunch, Millie May’s Pantry is the kind of place that feeds the soul. A local gem that deserves every bit of praise—don’t walk, run.

A must visit when you arrive on Kangaroo Island, or the day you leave! A beautiful little Cafè in Penneshaw 2 minutes from the Ferry with great food & coffee! A lovely outdoor area to sit and enjoy breakfast. There is also a little area inside the Cafè where you can purchase local produce!
Alyssa C — Google review
Stopped in for a bite before catching the ferry and was really impressed. The staff were so lovely and welcoming, and the food was fresh and full of flavour. you can tell they use quality local produce. Even the toilets were spotless, which says a lot about the care they put into the place. Highly recommend this cafe for anyone passing through. Great vibes, great service, and great food!

Highly recommended breakfast spot! I got beans on toast and worked out they were home-made baked beans!! Was delicious... And my partners bacon and scrambled eggs was the same. Coffee was so creamy and delicious. Could visit every morning for breakfast and never get sick of it!

My favourite place for breakfast while on the island. Unique combinations of flavours & a fun feel atmosphere. Definitely try the eggs & for a unique experience a golden latte.

I must of had the most expensive hotdogs, or it's name on the menu Sausage sizzle baguette. ( toasted baguette,wild/ mild English mustard, beef chipolatas, KI honey caramelised onions, choice of bbq or tomato sauce.)Sounds good It was a bread roll and dried sausage. On a very old yellow limp bed of rocket. I have no problem in spending money and give praise when it's due but Really!! You have fresh edible plants in your garden atleast you could have made it look better by using them. You should be proud of what you serve # Lesson no 1 in being a chef 👨‍🍳 To others If you want this item I would suggest you go to the hardware store and get one.

Had brunch at Millie Mae's before leaving the island on the 10.30am ferry. We let the staff know what time we had to be back at the terminal (as per note at counter). Food came quite quickly. Super nice eggs Benedict with smoked salmon- hollandaise sauce seriously one of the best I've ever had. Coffee was really nice too. Lovely atmosphere & a great gift shop with many local items for sale just off the deck. Would certainly visit again if back on KI. Thanks!

Amadio’s Vino e Cucina in Kingscote, Kangaroo Island, is a delightful Italian trattoria that captures the essence of warm hospitality. This charming eatery doubles as a cellar door for Amadio wines, making it a perfect stop for wine enthusiasts. The talented chef Fabio Rocco Ricciardi, known for his experience with the Ferrari Formula One team, crafts classic Italian dishes like eggplant parmigiana and veal cotoletta.
food was great, staff were good especially for a very busy night. Was very good to go to a nice traditional Italian restaurant. ENSURE YOU BOOK. it does say to and we thought it would be okay but it is a fully booked restaurant each night and this was early in the week (Especially cos not everything is open Monday/Tuesday nights) Food came out fast as well, great place. Great traditional italian meals, we got a pizza and lasagne and were not dissapointed
Trent R — Google review
Came here for dinner during our trip and was very disappointed. This place is blatantly false advertising, saying 'everything is handmade' on their website then serving us San Remo at 37 bucks a pop. Not okay and very deceptive behaviour!. They also advertised lamb shanks and a 'must try' homemade gnocci on the website, but neither were available and we were advised this is an old update to the website. Pasta on all dishes was undercooked and very average. Seafood pasta was flavored with salt only and was so undercooked it was inedible. Margarita pizza was good. Staff were friendly and very attentive. Shiraz was a good distraction.

I had my birthday dinner here with my husband and it was such a great experience! The food was amazing – I can’t believe Kangaroo Island has such a fantastic Italian restaurant. Service was excellent, and I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in KI 🍕
Dumindi L — Google review
I have a severe nut allergy. Upon first entering the restaurant, I had notified the waitress of my allergies. She then proceeded to take my order and check with the kitchen about nuts. She had then come back to let me know that the kitchen was completely nut free, and the food proceeded to be spectacular. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone with it’s amazing service and food.

Such a beautiful restaurant on the main street of Kingscote and conveniently right next door to the Ozone Hotel. We went here twice in our trip to Kangaroo Island. Definitely recommend the seafood degustation menu.
Emma A — Google review
I dined, if you can call eating a few mouthfuls dining, on 11th Sept with a group from Encounter. The food served (ribs) were beyond disgusting. The chef has a hide sending out anything that looked so atrocious. The meat was grey and bore no resemblance to the picture on the website. The ribs were so salty and none of my group could eat more than a few mouthfuls. The ribs were swimming in a fatty residue and the smell of congealing meat was overpowering. It was an epic fail and no self-respecting person who sent out food like that has the right to call themselves a chef. However the servers were very efficient and speedy.

Amazing! Coming from Melbourne, this was one of the best pizzas I've had. The staff were all genuine and super friendly. Pre-booking is highly recommended. We did not have a booking and had to wait 15-20 mins (worth it!).

A really good Italian restaurant that we didn't expect to find in Kangaroo Island. Pizzas are excellent, with a thin crust and quality ingredients. And the Aussie beef is perfectly cooked and very tasty. Highly recommended

This is a great trip. If you like lighthouses, pay the money and take the guided tour to the top of the lighthouse, terrific views from the top.
Paul M — Google review
Loved this tour. So much information for the kids to learn by reading books, looking at maps, reading pamphlets. Lots to touch and do. The tour was excellent. Very hands on, we actually got to go right up the lighthouse. Well worth the money.
Samantha W — Google review
In my opinion, I believe that this is a great place to visit as there is a great boardwalk that takes you down to the rocks on the beaches. There are also tours at times where you can climb up the lighthouse and experience what people would have experienced 150 years ago. It is great for photos and relaxation. However, the only down side is that stuff are not in the visitor-centre all the time; consequently, you will have to patiently wait or find them yourself. Other than that, definitely visit this angelic place.
JZ T — Google review
Very expansive views of both the hills and unbeatable southern ocean views. The road to get here a little bumpy, but whatever the condition it is worth to see great oldest lighthouse in south Australia. there are some walking trails around with 7 spots. Unfortunately, at time of our visit there is no chance to take guided tour. Staff was very friendly. I can say it is a great historical place, highly recommended.
A A — Google review
We did a self guided tour of the lighthouse and surrounds, including a coastal walk where we saw Kangaroo's everywhere and beautiful coastal views. The lady working behind the desk was so lovely and as we are a larger family she looked after us to ensure we didn't spend money on a tour that the children may not endure. I believe it was about $5 each to get in, which when you have a family can feel a bit expensive for what it is but we also appreciate that this helps raise money to maintain the lighthouse and it's grounds. Expect to pay more If you want a guided tour or to climb the lighthouse. There is a really interesting museum here too to wander around and our kids enjoyed the whole visit.
Tash M — Google review
Full of history via photos, stories & artefacts. A really grand walk around the property on a cliff edge path but not really suitable for wheelchairs or prams. Round trip about 1 hour. Went a wet windy day & it was magnificent the view of South Australia amazing. Plenty of people there for a wet day & had to drive through a flooded road to get there! The property is really well maintained & the guides are very knowledgeable. The light keepers homes are also available for over night stays & as the area is remote ( but really only about 40 minutes from Penneshaw via car)it gives you a bit of an idea how tough life could be for the original families servicing the light house. Well worth the visit.
Patricia T — Google review
Great place to visit. At the end of a dirt road but well graded and worth the visit. Make sure you wear good hiking shoes so you can do the 1.9k return work around the grounds. You can have a tour of the lighthouse for $10, per person, currently restricted to 6 at a time due to Covid. They generally leave on the 1/2 hour. Nice little gift shop in the cottage. Check the weather before going as can be cold and windy, and if overcast you won't see much.
Matthew P — Google review
Great place to visit especially if you are interested ship wrecks and light houses. But be aware of the road condition , very rough and full of pot holes. Lots of interesting artifacts in the visitor centre to view but you cannot go inside the light house as it does have a asbestos issue.

One of my favourite places we have been to! The moment you arrive you feel like you are somewhere special. We stayed at the residence which was a beautiful 3 bedroom house. The kids loved exploring and found all sorts of wildlife such as an echidna, kangaroos and a koala! Yael was an exceptional host always going above and beyond to ensure we had a great time!

Our family of four, which included children aged 17 and 15 stayed at “the residence” at this amazingly beautiful property. The residence itself is immaculately designed and caters to all the amenities you would expect in luxury travel. The property itself is indescribably, beautiful. We literally saw kangaroos roaming outside our front door each morning and then again at dusk. Quiet, peaceful, and comfortable. Our hosts catered breakfast for us each morning, which was a wonderful selection of local produce, breads, and fineries. Very easy to get to from the airport if you have a rental car. Five stars to this property and our amazing hosts.

Wow, how to put this incredible, supremely relaxing experience of three nights and four days into words!? If you really wish to relax, rejuvenate and find your inner stillness - in style - whilst feeling taken care of perfectly and yet with immense spacious freedom: this is the place to go!!! Yael is impeccably thoughtful with amazing attention to detail, and has designed your stay (with your input) such that you truly can sit back, relax in your unique/favourite way, whether that is in a majestic bath tub (with pristine rainwater!! My hair has never been better!), with nature walks, sitting on the deck with a cup of tea/food or inside on the cosiest couch (or cosy lounge chair) whilst falling in love with the most amazing Kangaroo Island scenery all around you! Of course you are also in a perfect position to explore the entire island which is full of incredible sights and experiences. When at Ecopia Retreat, you are guaranteed to have the perfect opportunity to gracefully reset your lifestyle by aligning with nature's rhythms! You can then easily take this experience home with you, and begin a new chapter, aligned with new habits. I stayed in the beautiful May Villa and could have stayed another week or two in complete bliss! Lighting the fire place at night was so easy and romantic, seeing the sky full of infinite starts from the floor on the best ever yoga mat was surreal! The stay was like a blissful meditation in itself for me! Thank you Yael! Yael provides all you could possibly need! Food wise too - the best local produce - such bliss!!! Egg yolks perfectly golden and from happy hens, huge fresh portobello mushrooms, asparagus, and many other seasonal greens, fruits and vegetables ... incredible cheeses and my favourite biodynamic yoghurt besides literally countless other things - THE most sublime honey that you will always remember, I assure you! And if you drink wine, amazing wine too .. fresh bread sourced from a local baker who hand makes the amazing bread for Yael. Wow. There was nothing I could feel was ever missing or not of highest quality - the kettle, the knives, the kitchen all top quality ... such joy to prepare my food in! The bedding, the towels ... the book selection ... even a sound system so you can enjoy your own musical ambience with good sound!!! Oh and candles - of course!!! So yes, do yourself a favour while supporting a business that is truly heart and soul centred - both for your experience and for keeping the footprint as soft as possible while offering the most sublime and nurturing experience to all guests. Make your stay a little longer for a deep immersion into your true recovery from any stress in your life. It really is so easy here. It is not just a holiday - it is the retreat & solution & remedy to an overly busy life and humanity running on lack of good deep sleep and finally claiming back the playful & creative enjoyment of every day living. Thank you Yael!!! Truly grateful beyond words!!!!

Ecopia was an incredible get away situated in the prime location of the heart of KI. It was the perfect Homebase for all of our daily tours and trips and made coming home each evening a joy. We were greeted to kangaroos and an echidna on arrival and saw goannas, koalas and more. Spring was the perfect time with all the baby animas and a cosy fire in the evenings. The food was all locally sourced (as we spotted some of the homegrown brands on our travels around KI) and made dining in such a treat. The gluten free and dietary catering was incredible and made for such an easy and stress free experience at Ecopia. It really took off a lot of pressure and had me feeling very at ease. The house was stunning and comfy, the property was amazing and the over all experience was incredible. Sunset on the deck through the gum trees with nothing but the birdsong was such a highlight while the joeys grazed in the distance. We’ll definitely be back!

We were truly amazed by the beauty of the property and the quality of the Rise accommodation. This was an experience of a lifetime for our kids as well. We loved exploring the property and counting the many animals we saw. Special thanks to our host, Yael, for exceptional service and impeccable wine taste. We hope to visit again!

This was one of the most memorable places we have ever stayed at in the world. It’s located in a remote area of the island surrounded by immense wild life. We stayed at the Sea Dragon (very nice place) and Ecopia on KI and we wished we would have stayed at the Ecopia 100% of the time.

What a wonderful experience and an amazing stay! Yael is amazing to deal with and super helpful. Lina who works on the property is also amazing! Our children loved exploring around the property! Cant wait to come back!

Ecopia is at the top of my "favorites" list! The setting is serene and magical. The villa is luxurious and well stocked. The prepared meals were gourmet and plentiful. They were very accommodating and understanding when we had an emergency interfere with our reservation to help us rebook, and made sure we had everything we needed while we were there. The location is excellent for exploring the island.
