Campground
Located on Kangaroo Island, Vivonne Bay Campground is a top choice for nature lovers and beach enthusiasts. It offers stunning views of one of Australia's most beautiful beaches, which has been recognized as one of the best in the country. The campground provides a large number of unpowered sites along with 8 powered sites suitable for caravans.
Lovely spot. Great showers. Seals at the main beach a treat on sunset. Close to lots of activities…
Robyn F — Google review
The Vivonne Bay campground is quite basic with 2 drop toilets and 2 showers ($2 for 3 minutes). New booking system online - make sure you book for this site. There was a koala with her baby in the tree in front of our caravan. Goannas roamed freely and lots of bird life. The location of the campground was on the south western side of the island. This allows you to see very special places such as the Remarkable Rocks, Admirals Arch and the discovery centre where you will need to purchase tickets.
Donna M — Google review
The location is superb and the facilities are ok. But the ground is so hard it's almost impossible to hammer a tent peg in, I bent several big ones and spoke to two other tent owners who had the same problem. The sites are so close together you hear everything your neighbour is doing. If you find the stairs to the beach too steep (see one of the other reviews) there is a flat path literally metres away between two campsites LOL. All in all, a mixed bag. If the campsites were further apart and the ground wasn't as hard as concrete it would be 5 stars.
Steve B — Google review
Gravel Car park with borders...unlevel. can't get to the beach it's closed due to erosion of the cliff face you have to climb down. Can get to the river though. No camp kitchen/shed, there's a BBQ though didn't use it. Sheds taken over by water sports school. Water tap is a slow trickle. Was planning on staying a few days, left after one.
Vicki ( — Google review
The campground is very close to the beach and river. There is a barbecue and drop toilets as well. Powered and non powered sites are available, so great for caravans and tents. Playground is here as well. There is a general store just up the road. Lots of wildlife around the area, with a nice walk to the beach as well. Hot showers are available for $2 for 3 minutes. It is a great place to camp if you want to explore the South side of the island.
Alexander R — Google review
Good option for a short camping stay. Powered and unpowered sites available. Coin payment, timed hot showers, will need to bring own drinking water. Paystation at campground with docket for dashboard. Village of Vivonne Bay on the opposite bank of the Harriet River.
Zeglar F — Google review
Great place to camp, but the ground is hard so bring a drill
Trevor K — Google review
Camping bays are right next to each other but it doesnt bother me. Close to the beach. Wallabies come very near at night. Costs 2 dollars per 3 minutes for shower. Has a sink and a tap to clean up after cooking. Has a playground for kids and 6 picnic tables. No camp fires allowed only gas. No EFTPOS or paywave functioning at the moment, bring cash, fill in a permit manually and put the money in the envelope then into the money box.

Browns Beach Campground is a prime camping spot located on Nepean Bay, just a short drive from Penneshaw. Situated near the secluded Browns Beach, this family-friendly campground offers stunning views of the Southern Ocean's bay and provides opportunities for beachside relaxation and activities. The area features native vegetation, pet-friendly facilities, and amenities such as public toilets, showers, and covered picnic areas with BBQ facilities.
Very neat and tidy. Toilet block, 3min Hot Shower for $2, so make sure you have $2 coins on you. The sites need to be pre-booked through KI Council. Sites are ok sized, some have a bit of a lean but not a big deal. The view is very pretty and a starting point for a long beach walk.
Chris G — Google review
Nice beach, toilets and showers were clean, although the back camp sites (11,12,13) are just on the back side of the main road (maybe they could be a bit cheaper than the other site KI council?)... 😬🚛
Olyve S — Google review
Arrived at camp sight to be met with heavy duty machinery creating lots of noise and dust when I complained to the council and asked for a refund I wasnt unable to get a refund . Without the noisey machinery it is still one big dust ball.
Yogita T — Google review
Drop toilets. No water. $2 for a 3 minute shower. Road noise. Beach is nice. Very dusty and dirty. Good area undercover with tables. Allowed dogs.
Jessica K — Google review
Came with kids for a swim on beach. Public toilets, showers ($2/5min) and covered picnic area with BBQ. Rocky beach good for snorkelling and collecting fan shells. A pair of dolphins came real close while we were in the water.
Eugene T — Google review
Beautiful beach and a great place to camp.conveniently located only 10 minutes from penneshaw
The C — Google review
I'm travelling on a motorcycle and this beach campground came up relatively quickly after getting off a 5pm ferry. I was aiming for the Vivonne Bay campground, but chose this one because it faces west... I could have a relaxed dinner and watch the sunset from the beach and take advantage of the last light to set up. No risk of hitting a kangaroo in the dusk by rushing to a farther-away campground. The only drawback is it's a small campground, and the campsites are within hearing distance of the roadway.
Ulrike R — Google review
Beautiful spot at Brown beach, small camping area close to road but pretty quiet, showers toilets and a covered BBQ area, well worth calling into.

Campground
Emu Bay Campground, located in Emu Bay, Kangaroo Island, offers an ideal setting for camping or parking caravans with a long and beautiful white sandy beach as its stunning front garden. This campground is one of the two places on the island where driving on the beach is allowed. While a four-wheel drive is not necessary, it is advisable to stick to the firm sand.
What a fantastic spot! We spent 2 weeks hopping between campgrounds on the island and this was our favourite. Views of the beautiful bay from majority of the sites, brand new toilets, a short stroll to a fantastic playground and fishing galore! We did have perfect weather, so that definitely helped, but a wonderful campsite that cannot wait to return to.
Nadia S — Google review
What makes this campground is the location. It was our favourite campground on Kangaroo Island and easy to travel to Stokes Bay and Snelling beach. There is one drop toilet which always smelt fine and was kept clean every day. The only downfall was there was no water here and you must bring your own. An easy walk to a beautiful beach where dolphins come in on most days. There is also a great little beach shack bar that is open from Thursday to Sundays. Great cocktails here.
Donna M — Google review
I apologize, but this is simply a paid rest area. There is only a toilet and an outdoor faucet with low water pressure, so only a small amount of water comes out, and there are no showers. You essentially pay just to park and sleep. Given the lack of amenities, the price should be reduced. Had I known, for just $10 more, I could have stayed at Discovery Lagoon Caravan and Camping Ground, which is much better equipped, with kitchens, hot showers, and bathrooms. The only positive aspect is the location. I cannot recommend this campground.
Claudia G — Google review
Pretty good, friendly hosts, nice amenities, 5 minute hot showers which is enough, for a bloke with little hair anyway. Had Koalas right outside our camp. Good spot to base yourself to see the rest of the island from.
Doddy G — Google review
Camping and camper trailer option at Emu Bay. Long drop toilet and BBQ adjacent across Hamilton Drive at the beach. Sites a little exposed to wind and sun. No showers and will need to bring own water.

Western Ki Caravan Park is a traditional and well-maintained accommodation option on Kangaroo Island, offering cabins, caravan and camp sites. It is conveniently located near Flinders Chase National Park and the Wilderness Trail, making it an ideal choice for nature enthusiasts. The park features self-contained cabins with modern amenities such as satellite TV, fully equipped kitchens, and private terraces.
Super friendly helpful staff, great clean amenities, nice flat site. Kangaroos from dusk till dawn, drop bears up the gum trees and rare geese amongst other bird life. So fab we stayed an extra night!
Elder H — Google review
I had a great stay in their new cabin which is clean, modern, warm and comfortable with everything you need for a day or a week. I also took advantage of their shuttle service for the 5 day KI walk - it was wonderful to be dropped off each morning at the start for the day, picked up at the end and be able to retreat to a comfy kitchen, lounge and bed for the night. The hosts are fabulous too - welcoming, friendly, helpful and interesting.
Susan M — Google review
Thank you to the warm friendly helpful staff and super clean cabins for our amazing stay on your premises. Highly recommend staying here if you want to explore the National Park.
Kellye W — Google review
We stayed at the park while walking the Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail over 5 days. I highly recommend this park, all staff are amazing, the Cabin we stayed in was perfect, there are great facilities in the park from a well equipped Camp Kitchen to amenities. Koalas, Kangaroos, and loads of other wildlife wander the park. They transported us each day to the start of each section of the Trail and were there waiting at the end to transport us back. Five gold stars!
Carolyn F — Google review
Absolutely perfect place to stay for our journey on the Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail. Thank you to Chris and Margaret and all the staff at the park for making our booking process and stay so easy.
Loz W — Google review
Very helpful reception crew, the camp kitchen is well equipped and clean, as well as the toilet/showers. Plenty of wildlife around to see.
Suze R — Google review
Great location to base yourself for Flinders Chase NP. It’s dry. And dusty atm because the island badly needs rain. Camping amongst the koalas is a highlight.

Camped 3 nights 11, 12, 13 April 2024. Only one other camper. Rockpool Cafe a bonus. 3 Koalas in pine tree on edge of campground. Beautiful Secret beach easily accessible from campground. Great base to explore east to Emu Bay and west to Western River.
David T — Google review
Small unpowered campground with inquisitive kangaroos and an interesting walk through the rock wall to discover a beautiful beach Bonus having an excellent cafe The Rockpool nextdoor
MD P — Google review
Nice spot for a swim and explore…comfort fires allowed and cafe nearby! Very special beach walk through caves…lots of day visitors filled all the bins to overflowing tho but toilets clean and kangaroos everywhere!
Robyn F — Google review
Stokes bay beach is stunning. The campsite sucks. Its a caravan city with more vehicles than people and there's not really enough space. We could hear our neighbors TV and generator louder than the surrounding natural environment. It's a bit frustrating because why don't they go to a caravan park? The kangaroos are cool and we saw a koala on one of the roads nearby. Next time we will go somewhere where its impossible for caravans to make it into.
Jack W — Google review
Stokes Bay and the surrounds are beautiful. But this campground sucks. I would not recommend staying here if you are camping in a tent or a swag as it is overcrowded and door to door with caravans who look like they’ve been living there for months. Shitty facilities and just a bad vibe. In such a beautiful place we could only hear generators and tvs as well as our neighbours letting their caravan sinks run out. Council should look to seperate the caravans from tent sites.
Saskia — Google review
A great location to base yourself for a few nights when doing the north coast. The walk to the beach through the caves is magical.

Discovery Lagoon Caravan and Camping Ground is an eco-friendly site powered by renewable energy, nestled in a 40-hectare property surrounded by red river gums. It offers spacious sites, clean bathrooms, and a comfortable camp kitchen. The campground is just three kilometers from Emu Bay Beach, where visitors can enjoy fishing charters and pristine ocean views. Additionally, the site features two one-bedroom eco glamping cottages designed for couples.
Best bush camp we've been to! Spotless amenities and Kerry the owner/manager is so accomodating and friendly. Our site was away from the road so we found it very peaceful. So much to see in the area and Emu Bay is just stunning. We visited in mid January so weather was perfect! The campground is a credit to its owners and a very valuable tourist asset to KI!
Tracey L — Google review
🖐️ Excellent place to stay whilst visiting KI. Centrally located to most tourist attractions, it's a very peaceful & quiet location within the natural environment. Both the cabins & camping grounds are maintained immaculately by Kerry & her partner including the camp-kitchens & other amenities like laundry & toilets. You can even access wifi for internet services there too! ✌️🤠👍

Perfectly clean toilet and bathroom areas. Authentic Aussie bushland camping. Beautiful and peaceful. Plenty of space on each site. Good clean camp kitchen with herb garden. Saw 3 koalas in the campsite trees. Welcoming, safe, camping, I definitely will use this camping ground again. Thanks

Absolutely beautiful camp ground . Peaceful and immaculately maintained. Hosts are beautiful people and we enjoyed every minute spent in nature. One of the best parks we have ever been to. If you are travelling on Kangaroo Island make this spot your base ! Pet friendly too 💯
Kathy T — Google review
If you like only 5min hot shower then your set... Hot water is timed out after 5mins. BUT with that being said beautifully cleaned everyday toilets and showers. Our Caravan site was well away from all others and still very close to toilets/showers, A Good spot for base camp.
Rosalee W — Google review
Fairly ordinary. No lagoon, dump point or water. In the middle of no where. But very quiet. For $42 a night unpowered site, I would have so much better off in a National Park. At least they the beach close by or walks. Disappointing.
Diane A — Google review
We camped two nights at this site while visiting Kangaroo Island. The campsites were generously spaced, and had a spectacular backdrop as it hugs onto the picturesque Discovery Lagoon. Reception was friendly and helpful. The amenities were excellent with a fully functional kitchen, comfortable dining space, very clean toilets and showers. There were power points in lockable cabinets in the toilets as well. We had a wonderful and refreshing stay with our pet dog. We even saw echidnas, swan and cygnets near our camp site!

Kangaroo Island Seafront Holiday Park, previously known as KI Shores Holiday Park, is a fantastic place to unwind and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. It's conveniently located just 300 meters from the SeaLink Ferry terminal and offers various accommodation options including contemporary rooms and apartments with balconies and free Wi-Fi. The park also features a pool, mini-golf, and pet-friendly facilities.
Caravan for two nights in Site 9. Beautiful views of the bay and dolphin pod every morning. Grass areas died off because of lack of rain but tidy. Amenities new and in ensuite style, fantastic water pressure and temperature. Would recommend and if we ever return to KI will spend a lot more time here
Kevin W — Google review
We booked a very pricy glamping tent with a promised beach view, it's possible to see the sea, but hardly beach front. The accommodation is ok but for the price it's not great. The shower wets the whole bathroom floor, no coffee machine, it's not luxury. However, the main problem is the building site directly opposite, where the work continues through the night as they rebuild the ferry dock. It's insane that it's so noisy ALL night. Whilst this is for a specific period of time, it makes it hard to enjoy when you can't sleep.
Martin C — Google review
The location is good, and the room itself is comfortable and clean. There’s excessive drilling and construction noise at night nearby at the port as the ferry is constructing a new terminal. We couldn’t sleep at night AT ALL! It’s an ongoing project approved by local council and has been like this for months. So if you decide to stay here you better prepare some noise canceling tools as they work overnight. The general manager is extremely unprofessional. When we complained about the excessive noise at night, the first thing she did was deny all responsibility, claiming she was unaware of the ongoing project. However, we later discovered that an official document had been distributed to the local area. Instead of assisting us or offering any solutions, she called us “freeloaders.” There is absolutely no customer service or support, all they do is tell you to suck it up. Definitely one of the worst experiences I have ever had. I’ll definitely not be coming back or recommend anyone to this place.
Ann G — Google review
We used Seafront Holiday Park as our base during our stay on Kangaroo Island. It’s a small, peaceful park with generously sized campsites. We stayed in a tent, though our particular site was sandy and on a bit of an incline — something to keep in mind. There are flatter, grassier spots available, so it’s worth asking when booking. The bathrooms are a standout feature, with five private ensuites. These were much more spacious than your typical camp shower cubicles and made things far easier, especially with kids. That said, a bit of extra attention to cleaning — maybe a proper scrub and a tougher solution — would go a long way. Some of the walls and paintwork could also use a bit of TLC. The camp kitchen is compact but functional, with everything you need, including a washer and dryer. Just don’t forget to bring some coins for the machines! Overall, a convenient and comfortable base for exploring the island, with a few areas that could benefit from a refresh
Terence P — Google review
We stayed in the caravan park on our last night on Kangaroo island because of the location to the ferry. I have to say the amenities were the cleanest I have seen in a long time. Whoever maintains and cleans the amenities needs a big pat on the back and probably a pay rise
Narelle S — Google review
The room itself is fine—clean and comfortable. However, the major issue is the construction work at the ferry station. Around 9:30 PM, they began drilling, and the noise was unbearable. It woke us up, and when we called the emergency number provided, the person on the other end said there was nothing they could do because the council had "approved" the work and that's how the island operates. Essentially, we were told to just deal with it. It’s baffling that the reception was so unhelpful and dismissive, especially given how disruptive the noise was. It's hard to believe the council's approval actually justifies this level of disturbance. Don’t ever come and stay here.
Serena Y — Google review
So lovely. Dolphins joined us for a morning swim…lovely and central. Amazing facilities and beautiful views - hard to beat! Penneshaw has lovely eateries and some nice shops. Enjoy!
Robyn F — Google review
We were unable to get a refund after cancelling on the same day, due to the ferry being cancelled because of bad weather. The situation was completely out of our control, and it's hard to understand why this wasn’t taken into account. It’s truly disappointing. No solution was even considered.

Nestled in the charming village of American River on Port of Pelicans, the American River Campground is a sought-after destination for those seeking a serene retreat with water-based activities. With limited powered sites, this campground is ideal for tent or camper ute stays and operates on a first-come, first-served basis. While self-sufficiency is essential here, visitors can indulge in delectable meals at The Oyster Farm Shop nearby.
Absolutely loved this campground. Perfectly situated on the water. Clean toilets and hot $2 showers. Outdoor shaded BBQ areas and plenty of shade. A lovely walk to the jetty and cafe. Magnificent sunrises!
Rhonda J — Google review
Bush campground that is dog friendly. Clean camp kitchen and basic amenities with $2 hot showers and toilets. Dump point at this site for caravans. Each site had its own picnic table and bench seats. Even though it was fairly basic we had beautiful trees around us but still received sun to charge our solar batteries.
Donna M — Google review
Tip- if you are going at Easter or public holidays the locals get there early and secure the powered sites so don’t expect one. It is a cute small campground, we loved listening to magpies, swans and owls. The pelicans are gorgeous. Wake up to watch the sunrise from the ramp, it doesn’t disappoint. The oyster bar is the best, even if you aren’t an oyster fan. There is another nearby place for lunch, mainly fish and chips which was great and whiting w salad. We discovered a general store on our last day, there is no signage for this. It’s further around. You can’t really swim there but if you have a small boat or paddle board, it’s well worth going around the point to North and Brown beach. Great fishing. Loved this special place. The local council cleaners were the only disappointment for the bathrooms, didn’t mop but the bins regularly are emptied

Beat campground. Showers were lovely. More showers pls in other campgrounds KI council!! Dolphins fish cafe views & nearby eateries….great spot
Robyn F — Google review
This place is a perfect location for a peaceful few days. The "Iron Warden" did not work so we contacted the K.I. Council. They took our details and credit card over the phone. There are six powered sites but they are very small. Our large van fitted OK but we took up 1.5 spaces. There were two other vans and the powered sites were full. There are other non powered sites and NO water. There is a hot 3 minute shower for $2.00 There are a few options nearby for meals.
Martin B — Google review
Good spot. 6 sites with power as you first drive in (we arrived at night and could clearly see them lit up with lights on the power boxes at the entry). Lots of unpowered sites (not designated, so eyeballing it - maybe 15?). Showers are free, rubbish and 10c recycling collection bins, dump point, and BBQ facilities. Lots of picnics tables scattered throughout the campgrounds and near the water. Powered sites are $26 and unpowered $17 - paystation located near the entry. There is a charging station for electric cars too. Area is nice a peaceful. I thought it was nice for a night or two, and got some nice photos of the sunrise, but not somewhere I'd stay for a week.
Natasha V — Google review
Fantastic camp ground by the council. Where in the country can you find hot shower and flushing toilet in a council campground. Equally important the ground is well maintain and has shady spots for your tent. Will come back again. $17/ night for 2 person camping and hot shower $2 for 3 minutes

Loved this place...it was my favourite spot. Quiet, less crowded than all the beaches. I stayed in the car park because of my legs...it made it the easiest beach for me to get to. I would like to go back there before l leave kl...l loved it that much. Maybe different for others as l am fully self contained in my van. They had toilets but no showers in the camping spot

Lovely spot to explore the western side of KI. Great fishing with KI fishing team. Caught heaps! Day visitors rude loud and used all the tank water tho. Beautiful beach. Heaps of mullet at dusk. Road down a bit scary with van. Terrible accident on scree on way out. Take care. Slow down! Resident goanna and wild cat.

Beautiful view from the campsite and easy access to the beautiful but very small beach. The only issue was that the campsite smelled like a morgue due to all the bins not being emptied by the council (all 15-18 bins were overflowing and absolutely stinky). When I say it was smelly I mean the kind that will give you a severe headache and the whole campground was smelling due to none of the bins being emptied or cleaned. The view though stunning but left the campground with a headache.

Best campsite on the island. Supper secluded spot, well protected from the wind, right in between two hills. River runs through here right into the ocean. Grab your fishing gear and relax. The place has facilities to cook up a feast and even bathrooms are available. Just around a corner a lovely beach. There were no waves when we were there, it was an incredible experience. Highly recommend!

Duck Lagoon Camping Area, located near Cygnet River, is a small reserve that offers a tranquil setting for bird-watching and nature walks. The purpose-built bird hide and observation platform provide excellent vantage points to observe migratory birds such as Australian pelicans, pied oystercatchers, royal spoonbills, and black swans. Visitors can take leisurely strolls along the lagoon's shores while learning about the area's history through interpretative signage.
easy drive, lots of car parking, camping area and undercover seating. We seen 3 koalas and 1 baby koala within 10 minutes. perfect for toddlers.

Happily surprised by this campground. Clean toilets, well maintained grounds. Spacious campsites. Close to Kingscote and wineries. Thank you KI council for providing such a peaceful pleasant area to camp.
Narelle S — Google review
A hidden gem close to some of the main attractions up north (especially with coastal wind) to experience amazing bird life. We saw the rare red tailed black cockatoo as there were sheoaks trees (their fav), a white herring, ducks, many parrots and loud gallahs! Wedgy's, roos, ants - it was like that scene from ace Ventura ;) - the camping spot wasn't ideal but we just threw the swag on a shady patch of grass near the river. Loved the old trees and flushing toilets with BBQ! Make sure you pay the fee for council to service the facilities!
Jayendra B — Google review
A lovely place to relax amidst nature, walk amongst old farm and distillery material, watching birds and seeing livestock on the other side of the lagoon.

This is a wonderful picnic and camping area to visit. There is plenty of parking available, a clean barbecue area and shelter. The historical features of the area are well sign posted and the information boards are quite informative. When we were there, we were only one of two couples at the location. The native bird life was amazing. Well worth a visit and remember to take a picnic!

Campground
Antechamber Bay Campground, nestled within the serene Lashmar Conservation Park, offers a tranquil escape for nature lovers and adventurers alike. Divided by the picturesque Chapman River, this campground features two areas suitable for caravans, camper trailers, and tents. While the northern section boasts a small toilet block, the southern area provides an even more secluded experience.
Having concluded our maiden campervan adventure of 2 weeks, this was the only campground we had stayed and is also our favourite. Absolutely no traffic noise and no light pollution. The only sounds are of the winds, the rustling of trees and leaves, waves and the morning calls from all sorts of birds. A perfect site for taking photos of the Milky Way and star trails. Our site (#10) on the Antechamber Bay side is the nearest to the toilet and sheltered kitchen and BBQ area. As expected, there is no light, no hot water and no shower. The sheltered kitchen and BBQ area look impressive and have even water but we didn’t get to use them. The amenities and the bridge looked newly built. The adjacent site #9 where the shared fire pit is located is quite near to our site. Luckily it was towards the end of May so that site and most others weren’t occupied. The nearby beach was too windy and not too impressive during that time of the year. There is a higher ground with a bench on the other side of the Chapman River. The view there was better. One important thing to notice. The steep drive leading to the sites is narrow and unsealed. On wet days, 4WD would be recommended.

Flinders Chase National Park is a must-visit destination on Kangaroo Island, South Australia. This park, which covers 326 square kilometers, offers diverse geography and wildlife. Visitors can marvel at the Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch, home to a colony of fur seals. The park also boasts native wildlife such as koalas and wallabies.
Flinders Chase National Park on Kangaroo island was just stunning. The Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch were definitely a highlight. We purchased our passes from the visitors centre on the way in, easy drive and walk to get to The Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch. Parking was also available on site.

Incredible! What a great and beautiful place to have the privilege of seeing! A little windy when we went due to the seasons, but the accessibility was great, ramps were prevalent. Stairs were minimal and opportunities to capture photos were everywhere! Park entry fee was under $50 for both of us.

Flinders Chase National Park on Kangaroo Island is one of Australia's most breathtaking natural wonders. The park’s star attractions, the Remarkable Rocks, and Admirals Arch, are both good geological formations. The Remarkable rocks with their unique shapes and dramatic setting against the ocean. Admirals Arch, has its unique view point where you could see New Zealand fur seals. It would take 3 hours to cover all the locations. Overall, Flinders Chase is a must-visit for anyone traveling to Kangaroo Island. Amazing experience for nature lovers, photographers, and families alike!

What a beautiful Park. So much regrowth after the bush fire. Lash once again. Remarkable Rocks and the Admirals Arch are pretty spectacular. Well maintained roads. Heaps of wildlife on them at dawn and dusk though.
Elisa P — Google review
Flinders Chase National Park is big and wild and overwhelmingly barren. It is incredibly peaceful in its remoteness and now bursting with growth since the devastating bush fires. Shrubs are back to being thick and you get a feeling that this wilderness is thriving once more. You would not be to remiss comparing this National Park to parts of Dartmoor in England, or even the lower moorlands of Scotland. Giant sweeping panoramas that might otherwise have been covered with heather in those parts of the world. Thankfully, I came outside of the holiday season, as it really let you soak up how beautiful and amazing this place truly is. Everything from the vegetation to the ocean views were stunning. Wildlife was everywhere, though sadly (and often) dead on the road from vehicles. I made the decision to travel from Kingscote on the east of the island, so see as much as I could, from Admiral's Arch, to the seals, lighthouses, wild moors and of course, Remarkable Rocks and ocean scapes. If you do visit Admiral's Arch, wait to be transfixed by the rolling waves and sea froth, as the water heaves and then breaks on the cliff side or rocks. Take the time to get out the car and breath some of this amazing Adelaide wilderness on Kangaroo Island. There are little things hiding everywhere.

Likely the best beach on all of Kangaroo Island. The area is secluded, with opportunities for short walks to explore the nearby rock pools and sand dune. Water comfortable for swimming as well. This was the only beach that we visited at Kangaroo Island that seemed to be virtually free of the microalgae popping up everywhere. There is about 16km of easily driveable unsealed road to get there from the main highway.

Although I had a short one night stay, the experience of staying here was excellent thanks to the wonderful owners. Incredibly friendly and welcoming. Clean cabin and great facilities. Top location for a sunrise beach walk. Dog friendly. Everything was perfect. In February on the weekend of the races, I camped here. Very clean toilets and showers and kitchen areas. My site was very close to these blocks, so that was very cool. I stayed for 3 nights and had a great time. Last weekend, 11th of April, My Mum and I stayed in one of the self contained units' for 3 nights. We were over for a wake/celebration of life ❤ Very clean and tidy, spacious and comfortable. A walk across the road and the beach is right there and so peaceful on both occasions. The price is reasonable for either a site or unit. I would definitely stay again 😃 Alison LOMMAN

The camp kitchen is a treat with the log fire to keep you warm on the cold KI nights. We camped in a tent on a powered site for 12 days in late May while our kitchen was being renovated. Though the weather was very cold and wet we found the camp kitchen with the log fire was a God send because you still feel like your outdoors yet protected from the weather. The park is surrounded by plenty of tall trees and we even saw a Koala in one of them! The facilities were clean and adequate to our needs. All the staff were friendly and efficient. Walking distance from a beach and lovely wetland walks. 5min drive to Kingscote for cafes, art galleries, historical sights and food shopping. The new owners of the park, Ros and Steve are working hard to upgrade and have already made lots of improvements. This park is going to get better and better as the years go by and we highly recommend. We would be happy to stay there again.

We had the absolute pleasure of staying at KI Caravan Park for a month while doing our academic project, and honestly, couldn’t have asked for a better experience. 🌿 The cabin we stayed in was super clean, quiet, peaceful, and felt very much like home — exactly what you need after busy days. Nature all around, the air so fresh, and only a 2-minute walk to the beach shores, which we loved so much! 🏖️ Plus, it’s just a short 6-minute drive into Kingscote town centre for all the essentials. What made it even better was the people — Ros and Steve, the owners, are just amazing humans. So polite, kind, and genuinely caring for the park and the guests. You can really feel the love they put into the place. 🌟 This caravan park honestly ticked all the boxes for us: location, comfort, cleanliness, and that warm, welcoming vibe. Highly highly recommend staying here if you're visiting Kangaroo Island. It’s one of those hidden gems that you’re so happy you found. 😊 Thank you again Ros and Steve for making our month so wonderful!!

Lighting the fire place at night was so easy and romantic, seeing the sky full of infinite starts from the floor on the best ever yoga mat was surreal! The stay was like a blissful meditation in itself for me! Thank you Yael! Yael provides all you could possibly need! Food wise too - the best local produce - such bliss!!! Egg yolks perfectly golden and from happy hens, huge fresh portobello mushrooms, asparagus, and many other seasonal greens, fruits and vegetables ... incredible cheeses and my favourite biodynamic yoghurt besides literally countless other things - THE most sublime honey that you will always remember, I assure you! And if you drink wine, amazing wine too .. fresh bread sourced from a local baker who hand makes the amazing bread for Yael. Wow. There was nothing I could feel was ever missing or not of highest quality - the kettle, the knives, the kitchen all top quality ... such joy to prepare my food in! The bedding, the towels ... the book selection ... even a sound system so you can enjoy your own musical ambience with good sound!!! Oh and candles - of course!!! Thank you Yael!!! Truly grateful beyond words!!!!

Ecopia was an incredible get away situated in the prime location of the heart of KI. It was the perfect Homebase for all of our daily tours and trips and made coming home each evening a joy. We were greeted to kangaroos and an echidna on arrival and saw goannas, koalas and more. Spring was the perfect time with all the baby animas and a cosy fire in the evenings. The food was all locally sourced (as we spotted some of the homegrown brands on our travels around KI) and made dining in such a treat. The gluten free and dietary catering was incredible and made for such an easy and stress free experience at Ecopia. It really took off a lot of pressure and had me feeling very at ease. The house was stunning and comfy, the property was amazing and the over all experience was incredible. Sunset on the deck through the gum trees with nothing but the birdsong was such a highlight while the joeys grazed in the distance. We’ll definitely be back!

We had an excellent stay at Ecopia Retreat. The property is on a private wildlife sanctuary and the kangaroos roam about daily. You get the chance to see the animals in their natural habitat which is one of reasons we wanted to stay here. There are even a few koalas on the property. We were in one of the luxury villas that is off grid but has everything you need. The owner checked in a few times during our stay to see if we needed anything and gave us tips on spotting wildlife. We ordered two breakfast and one dinner package to be in our villa upon arrival. We had plenty of food that lasted us during our four night stay. The property was located in the middle of the island which was very convenient to travel to anything that we wanted to do on the island. We would highly recommend staying here when visiting Kangaroo Island.

The Harveys Return Campground, situated in the Western Cape of Kangaroo Island, is a remote and historic cliff top location that served as the landing site for lightkeepers at Cape Borda. To overcome the challenge of its inaccessible position 150 metres up a sheer cliff, a steep incline rail line was built to transport supplies via horse-drawn carriages from ships. Today, this original track forms part of the Harveys Return walk.
Stunning spot! Well maintained campground and facilities - campsites are well spaced out. Short steep walk to the bay, though worth it!!
Nicole S — Google review
Loved this campsite, so beautiful with red sandy ironstone and beautiful flora (big gums). The drive was hectic with corrugated road (needs a grade). With a SW the Zebra walk (very steep) was the most protected beach on the island with the high cliffs! We had planned to stay a 2nd night as it was that beautiful but the wind was infusing our swag with sticky red sand. Stay here for my no. 1 highlight of KI, the ravine of cassowaries! Campsite 1/2 were on the right as you drive in with 3/4 near the toilets and the others sites a sharp left with some more private spots.
Jayendra B — Google review
The Road in is unsealed and corrugated at points about 27kms from the last sealed section. Once there it's quite isolated and we arrived in the heatwave which was not overly pleasant. The Night Sky was superb, snapped a few hand held shots of the Milky Way. Campsite 1 and 2 have the view down to the sea. 8 is the most private. Friendly local Possums and Goannas lurking following any scent of food. A short walk to the Cemetery and on further to the Lighthouse. The walk down to the beach is fairly steep and easy to navigate. Great spot

It was off-peak and we did not reserve our tickets online beforehand. Thankfully, we still managed to join the 12:30pm guided tour in winter and had an amazing experience! We really enjoyed the beach tour with seals all around us. Our guide was great very knowledgeable about the seals. Only gripe is you only go onto the beach about 20 meter's from the steps but when you look at the advertising photo the tour is right down next to the water with seals everywhere so dont be disappointed with only just stepping onto the beach.

Tq Mitch for the tour!! Highly recommend the guided tour as it does get you up close with the seals and you are given the opportunity to access their boardwalk and lookout point as well. We visited in winter where it was off peak and thus did not require us to book on advance. It was also great as the area was filled with seals actively moving around due to mating season.

What a delightful place. So many sea lions! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and made sure the sea lions came first while still delivering a wonderful experience.
Ange L — Google review
Seal Bay was by far our most favorite stop on the SeaLink day tour to Kangaroo Island. The tour is guided by professionals who you can ask questions about the wonderful sea lions. It was amazing to see them pretty close and in their natural habitat. 100% ethical!
Fan — Google review
A very enjoyable experience seeing the seals up close with an experienced guide. Lots of photo opportunities. As it was quite windy, it was hard to hear the guide at times, but just seeing the seals up close was enough. Definitely on your "must do on KI" list.

A visit to Seal Bay Conservation Park on Kangaroo Island is not just a tour; it's an immersion into a vibrant, wild kingdom where nature holds court. From the moment you step onto the viewing platform, the air fills with a symphony of barks, grunts, and the rhythmic sound of waves. Below, hundreds of Australian sea lions, the continent's most endangered species, bask on the pristine white sand, seemingly unbothered by the human onlookers above. The real magic, however, begins on the guided beach tour. Walking among these magnificent, sleek creatures is a humbling and exhilarating experience. They are not in an enclosure; they are in their home, and you are a respectful guest. You see pups nuzzling their mothers, young males playfully sparring in the shallows, and enormous bulls sleeping soundly after a hunt. Our guide’s passion and knowledge brought their world to life, explaining their behaviors and the vital conservation work protecting them. This is more than a wildlife viewing; it's a powerful reminder of the delicate balance of our ecosystem. It's a place where you can feel the pulse of the wild and leave with a profound sense of awe and responsibility.

Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park, situated near Parndana in central Kangaroo Island, is a sanctuary for over 600 animals encompassing 150 species of native Australian wildlife. Visitors can engage in feeding encounters and interactive exhibits with cuddly koalas, penguins, kangaroos, wallabies, snakes, crocodiles and other reptiles.
What the team has done for these rescues are amazing! We could see the amount of attention, love and care each member has for these animals. A million thanks to Portia for sharing with us information wrt the koalas. We are missing Pearl already!!

The park is pretty new, after moving from its old location. Kangaroos are friendly. We didn't think the entry fee plus the other charges was worth it. Some pies and sausage rolls in a warmer plus some snacks if your hungry.
Phil S — Google review
Paid for the private tour - did not disappoint. Learnt a lot about their rescue work and got to meet a lot of the animals up close and feed them breakfast. What an amazing experience - would love to come back and do it again.

LOVED getting up close and personal with Aussie animals! The kangaroos were so friendly and the koalas were close and active. This zoo feels very small-town. There is a lot of trust given to visitors and it makes for a very pleasant and peaceful experience. It also felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Very picturesque. It was a lovely day.
Kristen V — Google review
We did the day tour to Kangaroo Island with SeaLink and were hoping to see wildlife on the island. Unfortunately we barely saw any, but the tour took us to this "wildlife park". It is not a wildlife park, it is simply said a zoo. Most of the animals are kept in cages, and the zoo allows humans to touch the animals, even holding a koala for a fee. Even though it was great to see the animals up close, we felt bad for the animals and felt unethical. The staff was very friendly and nice though, and seemed to care about the animals.
Fan — Google review
What a great place to see koalas and kangaroos mainly at close range plus echidna, cockatoos, emu, etc. Animals are very docile - I purchased too good to feed the wallabies and kangaroos plus added a koala holding experience - priceless!
Lillie E — Google review
This was an experience I will never forget. I got to meet the koala survivors of the bushfire and their offspring. The Australian Army assisted and helped this park survive during those dark times. They even assisted with bottle-feeding these amazing animals. It is worth a visit just to see these incredible koalas who survived against all odds, the rest of the park is just a bonus. KI Wildlife Park has moved and I've been lucky enough to return to their new location. Not disappointed. What this park does for the injured wildlife on KI is admirable and the knowledge they happily pass on to the visitors is incredible, with a smile. From the time you enter the park until you leave, every staff member is full of knowledge and happy to explain and show you what they are doing. Walk around and meet the very friendly chocolate brown kangaroos, unique to KI and give them a bit of food and they'll love you. Make sure you are there for a Koala talk and meet Barry with his 9 or 10 girlfriends, all of them bushfire survivors and only alive today because of the work they do at this fantastic park. (Many more koalas are not for public display as they are too injured - they still care for them). There are many more animals around and they look after them like family, making puzzles with food and insect repellents(onions) for the monkeys, playing with the dingoes as if they were a family pup. I love this park and every dollar I spend there I'm happy to part with. It's going to the best cause I can think of. Thanks to all the staff, from the lady at the entrance to the wonderful young woman who told us so much about the primates she was entertaining to all the koalas (sorry don't know her name but she's been working there for 9 years). I'll be back - again FYI - KI had a koala population of around 80,00 before the bushfires 2019 - 2020. 70,000 of those were lost. It will take 50+ years before the koala populations returns to a substantial number
Lotski L — Google review
Great experience. Very caring and friendly personal. You can feel their love for the animals. Small park with great interactions. Highlight was feeding and petting the kangaroos, especially the Joey's, which were all rescues.. and ofc holding and petting a koala.. was a highlight of our holidays.

Lashmar Conservation Park is one of the few places on Kangaroo Island where camping is allowed. It's a fantastic spot for camping, with well-maintained facilities and beautiful surroundings. The park offers various camping areas, some with stunning beach views and sightings of dolphins from the shore. Renovations and improvements are ongoing, including a suspension bridge, making it an up-and-coming destination for nature lovers and hikers.
Superb, quiet conservation area, set up very well for self sufficient campers to enjoy away from the crowds. Excellent toilet facilities and basic camping areas with smaller, more private sites at 1 - 4, and larger sites up higher at 5 - 10. Can only book online, which needs improvement, as, if someone cancels it takes about 5 days to process before the site becomes available again - this poses a disadvantage for people trying to obtain a site in busy times, as the site is vacant, but unable to be booked. Only 150m walk to the Pristine Antechamber Bay, one of the many Awesome Natural attractions of Kangaroo Island.
DAVID J — Google review
Amazing place love the views there is a north and south side of camp ground on the north side it’s a quicker walk to the beach and there is a toilet block with flushing toilets. On the south side there is a new toilet drop what is not on the website yet, you can also have camp fires in non fire ban season but be careful because of how easy it is to start a bush fire (you can not have camp fires on the north side), you can also have dogs on leads on the south side ( you can also not have dogs on the north side). Overall it’s a great place for camping, the sight is bookable. this camp is also for experienced campers, there is no power and only one bar of 3G on Telstra plan only. I loved the camp site heaps of space for spacing out tents for power we used solar panels what work well ( if you know how to use them) and it’s better than American river what’s all crowded this camp site is spread out and on the south side you are right next to a river so you a go kayaking too. I can say this is one of the best camp grounds on kangaroo island.

We booked and stayed in the southern campground in section one and it was just perfect. There was even a portable toilet there, which was unexpected. Unfortunately the other sites in the first southern section were flood affected but I imagine that they, too, would be wonderful come summer.

Fantastic spot to camp on Kangaroo Island. The beach is stunning, we even spotted dolphins from the shore. The bathrooms were the nicest we've seen in a conservation or national park (flushing toilets with running water!). It's only a short (20 minute) drive to Penneshaw.

Kangaroo Island Seafront is a laid-back resort located across from the gulf, offering modern rooms and villas, an outdoor pool, and BBQ facilities. Some room rates include breakfast, which can be pre-ordered the day before for a specific time. The Dudley Peninsula provides various accommodation options, from luxurious stays to campgrounds. Partnered with SeaLink, Kangaroo Island Seafront Hotel in Penneshaw offers beautiful rooms facing Gulf Vincent and excellent service from CEO Sam Atkins and staff.
Beautiful large room No.18, separate bedroom, kitchen. Very comfy bed , large couch, excellent value. Laundry also available for free.
Robert C — Google review
This is more of a motel than a hotel. Dated fixtures and fittings and definitely not 4*. Needs updating and needs a good scrub. Lino in our cabin was sticky and under the beds/sofas/tables was thick with dust and debris that had never been cleaned. However, its convenient for the ferry.. although it is over 1hrs drive from here to Flinders chase so you need your own transport. They have a free car park. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Hotel also has a small pool and laundry room with free to use washer/dryer (power available to buy at reception). Annoyingly the restaurant and cleaning staff were using this equipment to wash all of their dirty tea towels/aprrons and mop heads which made the machines smell (due to being cold wash only) and the aroma passed to our clothes when we washed them. Our 1 bed cabin room had A/C; TV; a bedroom with separate lounge area containing 2 sofa beds; shower room in the main bedroom with toiletries; kitchenette with x2 induction rings; crockery/cutlery/pots & pans; fridge; bar top with bar stools; table and chairs on the outside patio. There is no safe in the room. Breakfast was in with our room rate at their cafe next door called the Kiosk. Breakfast was good. The Kiosk also had a pop up taco outlet (at extra cost) from Thurs-Sun 5-8pm which was nice. If you have a cabin room at the hotel with small cooking facilities, there is a supermarket (essentials not a huge selection) and bottle shop (neither shop is cheap), at the back of the hotel. Dining options on the island for eating out are limited and not great, so recommend bringing some of your own supplies from the mainland...especially if you have a rented vehicle because you will not be allowed to drive it on the island between dusk and dawn & the only place open to eat on a night (when the tacos aren't on), that's close to the hotel is the Penneshaw pub.. which is fairly average.
S J — Google review
There are many better hotels on the island than this one. The room we booked looked nothing like the photos online, and when we raised it, the manager simply said it wasn’t their problem. We were double-charged for the second room we switched to—which was filthy and had used tissues left inside. The next morning, When we asked for a refund for the first room (which we didn’t use and they didn’t need to clean), they claimed they would contact the booking service to process it. That never happened. It feels like they’re just trying to squeeze as much money as possible, regardless of service or fairness. To top it off, the manager blocked my number after I followed up.
Echo H — Google review
Parking was easy and accessible, just adjacent to the rooms with easy access to the hotel itself! Staff at the front desk were amazing! Informative and knowledgeable. The rooms were clean, well stocked and the bed was above and beyond comfortable. Best part was the location. Beachfront with a beautiful view, so so close to everything we wanted to explore and even closer to the Penneshaw pub.
Steph G — Google review
Well appointed, cosy place. Tents have ample privacy as each are surrounded by good amount of foliage. Would be nice to have body lotion though.
Poley L — Google review
In Penneshaw… just a few minutes from the ferry building, gas station, Penneshaw pub and grocery store … far from wildlife sights and national park. The only downsize is the poor internet connection
Lillie E — Google review
A great place to base yourself to explore the whole island. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the restaurant food is great. And as a bonus the views out to the bay are excellent.
Tassie T — Google review
If you enjoy a toilet seat that doesn’t stay up and staff that don’t care and say that they will fix it and never do then this is the place for you. Over priced dive on the beach. I’d rather camp next time.

Loved this tour. So much information for the kids to learn by reading books, looking at maps, reading pamphlets. Lots to touch and do. The tour was excellent. Very hands on, we actually got to go right up the lighthouse. Well worth the money.

Great experience to visit a historic lighthouse with small fees. After finishing the guide tour you can walk around on small historic trails. BTW be prepared to drive on a rough gravel road. PS. The cafe part has been closed.
Matthana M — Google review
Very expansive views of both the hills and unbeatable southern ocean views. The road to get here a little bumpy, but whatever the condition it is worth to see great oldest lighthouse in south Australia. there are some walking trails around with 7 spots. Unfortunately, at time of our visit there is no chance to take guided tour. Staff was very friendly. I can say it is a great historical place, highly recommended.
A A — Google review
We did a self guided tour of the lighthouse and surrounds, including a coastal walk where we saw Kangaroo's everywhere and beautiful coastal views. The lady working behind the desk was so lovely and as we are a larger family she looked after us to ensure we didn't spend money on a tour that the children may not endure. I believe it was about $5 each to get in, which when you have a family can feel a bit expensive for what it is but we also appreciate that this helps raise money to maintain the lighthouse and it's grounds. Expect to pay more If you want a guided tour or to climb the lighthouse. There is a really interesting museum here too to wander around and our kids enjoyed the whole visit.
Tash M — Google review
Full of history via photos, stories & artefacts. A really grand walk around the property on a cliff edge path but not really suitable for wheelchairs or prams. Round trip about 1 hour. Went a wet windy day & it was magnificent the view of South Australia amazing. Plenty of people there for a wet day & had to drive through a flooded road to get there! The property is really well maintained & the guides are very knowledgeable. The light keepers homes are also available for over night stays & as the area is remote ( but really only about 40 minutes from Penneshaw via car)it gives you a bit of an idea how tough life could be for the original families servicing the light house. Well worth the visit.

Guests can enjoy complimentary wireless internet, a terrace, luggage storage, and access to laundry facilities. The property is situated in the midst of nature with various amenities for cooking and entertainment available in the cabins.
Had a great stay. My cabin was private, cute, comfy and super clean. Had everything I needed and more, including a washing machine! Wifi was very good. Kangaroos would visit every morning.
Domenic — Google review
Stayed 5 days, close to Kingscote which has the supermarket and places to eat. Cabins are perfect for a couple. Beds uncomfortable, and place needed a good mopping otherwise was great place to stay. Laundry was great also. Kangaroos come most evenings to the property, was nice to get up close to them. At night we could hear rats or mice in the roof and wall cavities but never saw one. Bathroom small but for 2 people was okay.
Lorena — Google review
We were happy with almost everything (location, check in/out process, WiFi, equipments, beds, linens, kangaroos, environment...) but our cabin. Our cabin was infested with microbats. We started noticing noises on the roof in the late evening. At first, we thought they were birds or possums. We saw nothing on the roof but the noises continued. It then became so obvious the noises came from the roof and wall cavities. We could hear them crawling, scratching, playing/fighting and squeaking. We thought they were mice. The wall of one bedroom had stains, possibly from urine. It was hard to sleep because of the noises and worry. The next morning I contacted the manager and was told they were protected microbats and they would not enter the cabin. I don't think it's fair to provide a cabin with microbats and charge a full price. After all, we went there to have a good sleep but the microbats took it away. Nothing about microbats was mentioned during the whole booking process. I would have booked somewhere else if I knew it.
P L — Google review
While the location was convenient and the self check-in process was smooth, we were very disappointed with the overall condition and facilities of the cabins. The lack of a BBQ, despite being advertised, was inconvenient, specially because we pre-marinated meat before arrival. We also found inconsistencies in provisions between units, including only being provided with one toilet paper roll for a two-bedroom unit booked for three nights. Most concerning was the presence of cockroaches, spiders, and mice, which made our stay very uncomfortable. The two-bedroom cabin's bathroom was extremely small and impractical, particularly the shower. The furniture was old, dusty, and in need of updating. Overall, we found the cabins to be poor value for money and would not recommend them for families.
R ( — Google review
Stayed here on a work trip. Good affordable cabins in a great location close to Kingscote. Hosts are very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed the strong Wifi signal very convenient. Will stay here again.
J — Google review
Great location which made it easy to use as a base and visit other parts of the island. Cabins are older, so don't expect anything more than average facilities. (Shower cubicle was only just big enough to get wet). If you don't expect anything flash, then the price vs location makes it suitable.
David H — Google review
This is a first for me to leave a low rating but to say I was disappointed would be an understatement. Firstly the room was clean, toilet/ bathroom clean and well stocked and at first glance the rooms looked good but then come time for bed and it went down hill fast. The main mattress is completely worn out and only one of us could sleep on because event time one person moved it would collapse. The mattress is blood stained and has no washable protector on it, the quilt has no cover and appears dirty. There is clear indication of water leaking in the roof and black mould visible in the bathroom and main room. Floor around the bedside tables is filthy and clearly never cleaned. We couldn't open the windows due to large holes in all the screens that let thousands of mozzies in, we resorted to going and buying mozzies coils to burn in the hut to slow the mozzies down. Ending on a positive, the A/C worked well and there is a heater in the room if staying during winter. Whilst the pressure wasn't great there was plenty of hot water for everyone to shower and plenty of body soap provided. I wouldn't stay again without knowing there has been some serious upgrades, the overall stay was disappointing mostly because we came from W.A and everything else on the Island has been such high quality.
Noel A — Google review
Good location (don't expect beach front) but unfortunately our cabin (1) had an overpowering smell of curry, the room was grimy and not the cleanest, the shower was so small that only our kids could have a decent shower and the main bed was so saggy and uncomfortable that I ended up sleeping on the couch.

Many thanks to Kate and Andy for our Kangaroo Island stay at Kona. A great place to get away from it all. Views are spectacular, and there was always sheep and kangaroos around the place. There are a couple of beaches only a short walk from the house and Cape Willoughby lighthouse is just a couple of minutes down the road. Beds are huge and comfy. The house is huge and has everything you need in the kitchen, as well as 2 bathrooms. We will be back, thanks!

A truly divine stay!! Shylie’s is a magical place, and was the perfect 5 night stay this January. With easy access to beautiful, private beaches with turquoise water (one a cove directly in front of the house) - it feels like something out of the Mediterranean… hard to believe it’s just an easy journey’s way from Adelaide! Apart from the stunning location, Shylie’s itself had everything we needed to relax… outdoor tub, spacious deck & seating, and the most comfortable bedroom with a remarkable view of the continent. I cannot fault this wonderful place. Kate & Andy are such welcoming hosts… made us feel right at home. We’ll be back to Antechamber Bay Retreats!

Our stay at Shylie’s was the perfect treat after travelling KI in our camper. Perched above the beach the panoramic view is amazing from every room, and especially enjoyable from the outdoor bath on the deck. The house is simple with the retention of old charm and new comforts and the property offers so much to do that you just don’t need to leave. Truly pet friendly. We enjoyed the private beach, walking, riding and fishing during our stay. Highly recommend a visit.

Huge thank you to Kate and Andy! We booked all three houses (Nats, Kona and Shylies) for three nights and had the most magical stay. Our families absolutely loved all of it, from the unbelievable views to the beautiful accommodation which has everything you need. We definitely plan to be back :)

We really enjoyed our 4 nights stay at Nat’s retreat during September, the house is very welcoming and well equipped. The main bedroom is lovely and very comfortable, with a big picture window that allows you to take in the amazing view while still in bed. We had a mixed bag of weather during our stay, when the sun was out the veranda was the ideal place to relax and enjoy the view, the sheep were very entertaining to watch. On the cold and raining days the living area or bedroom provided comfortable areas to relax and still enjoy our time at Nat’s. The welcoming bottle of wine from a local winery was a lovely unexpected touch. Would highly recommend Nat’s Retreat to anyone who likes a nature base holiday with the comfort of a lovely historic house.

Excellent accommodation with the best views we have ever seen (we travel a lot). Very well appointed allowing you to take in amazing scenery and enjoy sunrises and sunsets. Very clean, was absolutely spotless. Communication leading up to our stay was fantastic with lots of useful information. We ended up deciding to extend our stay by one more night and the SkyHouse was very helpful and providing immediate assistance. This will be our absolute go to accommodation when we come back to KI. Additional information - when looking for accommodation in KI I ended up choosing between Wander Pods and Sky House. Ended up selecting Sky House but when received confirmation of my booking it came from the Wander Team. Note, these are all located on the same block of land and seem to be managed by the same team just very different styles. Sky House is extremely well positioned and very private. Thank you for a wonderful stay! We did not want to leave!

The view really is astonishing! And Snelling Beach at the bottom of the hill is one of the island's nicest. We loved our dinner under the Fig Tree (also at the bottom of the hill) and the spaciousness of the apartment was really great....Not so much a fan of the open bathroom in the apartment (why is this trend so popular?) Be aware that the house is a 1.5 - 2 hour drive from the ferry (along dirt roads for some of the way) Arriving on the afternoon ferry, we probably should have spent the night in Penneshaw and then driven out to Sky House the next day - would have been far less taxing. Although guests are advised that no supplies are provided in the house, some basic things like tissues and gladwrap would have been appreciated.

The best view of my life. I’ve stayed in luxurious waterfront residences in Miami, Istanbul, Sorrento and more but this truly blew them all out of the water no pun intended. I felt like I’d worked hard my whole life and this was the reward at the end of the tunnel: a magical experience. Will be back. My wife and I cherished our honeymoon spent here.

An extraordinary part of the world and the only place I’ve been where the sun rises and sets over the horizon from the same view. Sky House truly lives up to its name!

This house is Amazing! Secluded and quiet, if you are thinking of staying here, do it! The house was very clean, has a massive free standing bath, record player with great albums and the views are exactly like the photos!

We were so genuinely sad to have to leave the Sky House, our stay was glorious. Everything was super comfortable and easy, the location stunning, and we made some cute friends of the visiting kangaroos and echidna! We miss Snelling Beach soothing us to sleep each night. We’re already planning our next visit.

The Sky House was the best decision we made on our trip to KI. Do not miss out on this once in a lifetime experience! Make sure to pick up groceries at Kingscote as there are limited options further west on the island.

Outstanding. Such a magnificent view and it has everything you need. The records and games available are awesome and added to the cosy feel. Only downside is that it made us not want to leave and explore the island! Would definitely return.

Campground
West Bay Camping Area, situated within Flinders Chase National Park, is a remarkable destination that showcases stunning panoramic vistas. Positioned atop the westernmost inlet of the park's islands, this secluded site provides an ideal setting for relaxation. The campground boasts an aesthetically pleasing location along with excellent fishing opportunities and a range of caves to explore. Additionally, it features convenient amenities such as a rainwater tank for water supply. However, it's important to note that there is no reception available at this site.
Beautiful remote spot, definitely need a 4wd to access it. The road there was quite an "experience", specially after Snake Lagoon turn off. We booked the biggest site (nr1) and we comfortably managed to fit our rear folding camper trailer and Hilux. Standard long drops, path to the beach can be a bit of an exercise because of steepish hill. No reception so you can enjoy the "offline" life. 9 out of 10, definitely would recommend.

Very very nice beach and the Kangaroos came so close its was massive!

This is a very remote camp site. The local wild life are very curious so please don't leave your rubbish out and take it with you. There are bins located at the Flinders Chase Tourist Centre. The toilets are a long drop but well maintained. There is a tank of rain water, not drinkable so bring plenty of water with you. Access is via a 22km corrugated dirt road. There are a few steep climbs and it was fairly heavily corrugated after Snake Lagoon so I would recommend a minimum of an all wheel drive vehicle. Camping fees do apply payable at the tourist centre. The beach is a good 10 min walk away and down a very steep trail, although it is soooo worth it. I hope this post helps

Nestled in the heart of nature, Rocky River Campground is a delightful escape for families and outdoor enthusiasts alike. This campground boasts fantastic amenities such as hot showers, clean flushing toilets, and BBQ facilities that ensure a comfortable stay amidst the wilderness. Each campsite offers a sense of privacy, allowing visitors to enjoy the serene surroundings filled with chirping birds and native wildlife like koalas and kangaroos.
We were there a year ago or so, before the fires. The place is beautiful, koalas and kangaroos around and great walks to get into the nature. There were some unpleasant visitors like that spider hehe but besides that all good. We like to camp like the old days and we had a gas stove and few stuff but still, facilities were in very good conditions and relatively clean.

Nice spot with some privacy between sites. Lots of birds. Amenities are clean and well maintained. The camp kitchen has BBQs and byo utensils. No dishwashing facility! The showers are hot water and have good pressure. No mirrors and wash basin is outside. The only downside, there is no space to put your toiletry bag on the sink. First world problems. Camp connects to walking tracks. Mobile phone and internet reception is very low.
Chris G — Google review
We didn’t camp here but stopped for a quick picnic. Well sheltered benches and bbqs allow you to have a quick break or bite to eat while scanning the trees and undergrowth for birds and native animals.

Never felt the need to leave a snarky google review for a national parks camp site but this one deserves it. Whoever made the call to line the sites with solid chalk/limestone mortar should be sacked. If you come here with a tent then expect to bend all of your tent pegs and end up sleeping in your car. Perfect combination for frustration if you've been driving most of the day and turn up after 5PM hoping to get the tent up quickly and get on with dinner. If you like the tent life like me, come prepared and bring a cordless SDS hammer drill with you. My photo, some of those pegs are close to 8mm diameter, they barely made a dent and I was using a mini sledge hammer.

Bathrooms were great! Hot shower, clean bathroom, peaceful with distance between you and other campers, lots of wildlife, remote but close to visitor centre for a cheeky coffee or brew
Fiona K — Google review
Beautiful campground. Private little sites. Free camp kitchen, toilets and hot showers. $35pn unpwd. 1 national park entry fee $14. No potable water.

Park
Located in the Flinders Chase National Park, Ravine des Casoars Wilderness Protection Area offers a scenic and adventurous experience for nature enthusiasts. The area features a 7km hike through the bush, providing an opportunity to immerse oneself in the natural beauty of the surroundings. Accessible via a side road, this wilderness area is home to diverse wildlife, including lizards along the path. The trail leads to a picturesque beach, where visitors can enjoy stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere.
When you get to the end, the only way over onto the beach is to wade the river. It was just above the knee when we crossed. Pretty casual gradient. The first two kms are a bit rocky but it gets better. Lots of lizards along the path. Very scenic, worth the walk.
