Bar
The Mallow is a popular old-world pub in Ballarat, offering a cozy front bar and a shady courtyard. It is known for its broad drink selection, craft beers, and classic dishes on the menu. The venue provides friendly service and a traditional pub fare with options like chicken parma, burgers, and lamb souvlaki. Additionally, it hosts various entertainments including live music, comedy shows, and performances.
The Mallow is comfortable, and uses all its different rooms really well. We went for the Harry Potter Trivia night (kudos to all those involved in running this!) and had our meal in the lounge, which had wonderful Chesterfield sofas and armchairs and an open fire - plus games and books if desired. We enjoyed our food too. Definitely plan to go back!

What a delightful lunch, at last a pub with quality food, wine and service. Probably more for those who love good food and wine and not fussed on the price. Don’t bother if you like cheap food and wine, although very reasonable prices and top quality. Plenty of reasons for us to come again
Michael W — Google review
Due to family obligations, we hadn't been to The Mallow for a while, so spending a couple of hours there on Saturday night was a real joy. The service was as friendly as ever, the food and beers as delicious as ever. Another plus about The Mallow is that their prices are super reasonable, too. Can't wait to go back!
Brock P — Google review
The food was see sensational, very inventive and beautifully presented. The wine and wine advice was great too..thanks for welcoming us and finding us a great table.

We had a wonderful time Tuesday for my husband's birthday dinner. The Taco Tuesday menu was delicious as were the Spicy Margaritas. The staff were all so friendly and took excellent care of us.

New life. Still offers classic pub fares (albeit cooked well above pub standards). Some exciting menu options available. When the meals took a small window to come out I got excited about my risotto - a sign it was being made properly. And it really delivered. A real contender for the best rissoto I've ever had (and so know an unhealthy amount too much about rissoto and how it should be made 😆). Unreal thanks team. I hope the community gets behind you and reaps the rewards of what you're offering.
Paula J — Google review
Hadn't been here before but it had come up in Google searches as a good place to go so decided to check it out. Glad we did! A unique bar with a unique menu. It was a fun place with good service and we enjoyed the food. They were even setting up a cinema out the back in the beer garden when we were leaving. Might have to book a movie night next time.
Jodie P — Google review
We got in early before the rush and had dinner. As a family we had the kid's gnocchi, gnocchi and mushrooms, Beef Ragu and everyone was impressed. Normally with gnocchi I feel like it wasn't enough this was perfect and super fresh. Great selection of beers on tap. I have to say there was a lady on front of house that was amazing and totally made the night with the rest of the staff. Great place to go but do book before hand otherwise get there at 5pm

Pub
Nestled on Pleasant Street since 1906, the Bunch of Grapes Hotel is a charming vintage pub that has been a staple in Ballarat since as early as 1868. This delightful establishment offers an extensive menu that caters to all tastes, featuring four unique parma options alongside classic favorites like chicken schnitzel, pizzas, and fresh salads.
8 different meals and numerous drinks came to $300. The lamb was amazing for only $32 Service was excellent and the atmosphere was lovely.
Deanna B — Google review
Food/Drinks was good but the chicken Parma was a little burnt and dry and was just plain, not alot of flavour. Salad was small but ok and chips well the one thing I don't really like ... Yes pet peev is Chips under the parma makes them go soggy. The other Schnitzel was ontop of a small amount of mashed 🥔 potato and not a huge amount of veggies. Entrees of Battered Prawns was however quite delicious. The service was quick ( guess it helped to be in there right on opening for dinner time) The staff were welcoming. Loved the different chairs so much easier to sit and get out of than the silver ones they had.
Alison — Google review
We attended for a family birthday dinner with 2 toddlers in tow. There's a large family-friendly bathroom with a change table available. The staff were lovely! The food was really good also and came out quickly. We got steak perfectly cooked, calamari which was so soft and fresh and 2 kids meals, nuggets and a pasta. I can pick no fault. It was a lovely night

Had lunch here today for brother birthday. My mother has no bottom teeth and I asked them if there was anything they could serve us that would help my mother eat. The staff could not have been more helpful with her needs and made her a special dish that wasn't on the menu and mum really enjoyed it since she could eat it. All the meals top quality and so was the customer service. Thank you to all concerned for a fantastic experience. We will back again once mum get her teeth back. I highly recommend the bunch of grapes to anyone looking for a good meal and even better customer service.
Vicki M — Google review
We have been to the Bunch of Grapes Hotel many times and have always enjoyed their meals. The staff are very friendly and efficient. A large variety on their menu and the cheesy bread is a favourite and so is the sticky date pudding!
Jenny B — Google review
We didn’t eat here but we stayed in the accommodation. Very well priced for a convenient, easy stay. Pristine room. New interiors, comfortable beds. All amenities. Couldn’t fault it. Thankyou.
Freisia L — Google review
5 of us dined out last night (a Saturday). We all ordered our meals at the same time. Two of the meals came very quickly. The other 3 of us sat and waited for more than 40 MINUTES!! (no exaggeration) for our meals. Lovely waitress apologised saying the kitchen didn’t communicate, and offered free coffee. But honestly - this excuse isn’t good enough. How cooks/chefs don’t know that grilled fish takes minutes versus other food - is beyond me. Partners pork chop was hard as a rock, my chicken Kiev was dry inside with zero butter. Parma was dry and chicken was thin as paper. Veggies were boiled carrot & cauli which were still hard and dry as a bone. With Ballarat having such an abundance of nice pubs - we definitely won’t be coming back.

Located in Ballarat, the Golden City Hotel is a historic establishment that underwent a full renovation in June 2019. The hotel offers a variety of dining options, including salads, pizzas, and bistro food served in a light-filled space with polished floors and a balcony. It's also known for its Beef and Guinness Pie made with Waubra beef slow-cooked in rich Guinness with carrots, peas, and golden puff pastry.
As a local, I've only been to GeeCees a couple of times and my husband felt like having a steak. Being a Thursday, it turned out it was steak night at The Golden City, perfect! My husband ordered the porterhouse and I ordered the chicken and cashew wok dish. The serving size was very large for the price we paid too. Both dishes were excellent. 👌🏻 Husband had a great recommendation for a drink from a staff member and was very impressed. The place has a great pub atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. I got a cheeky coffee on the way out and it was wonderful too. Great place for a meal and we'll definitely be back. 👏🏻👏🏻

The presentation of the menu items was fantastic. I got the special menu item, pork and apple sausages. The sausages were okay but I liked that it was served with a creamy mashed potato and lots of crunchy vegetables. Our table also ordered the flathead and barramundi fish dishes which looked good too.
Koi — Google review
I had the 300g Porterhouse steak at Golden City Hotel and it was absolutely delicious. Cooked perfectly to my liking, the steak was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The creamy mushroom sauce was the perfect complement—rich and well-seasoned. I paired it with roast potatoes and seasonal greens, which balanced the meal wonderfully. The kids enjoyed the lasagne with chips from the adult menu—it was hearty, flavorful, and the chips were crispy and satisfying. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was warm and family-friendly. A fantastic dining experience in Ballarat—we’ll definitely be returning!

Highly recommended. We are very welcome at the Golden City Hotel Restaurant. We were a group of 16 people, the pre-ordered lunch was served to all guests almost at the same time. We had Roasted Salad, Pasta and Chicken with potatoes and vegetables. All the plates were lovingly prepared and the food was excellent. The brownie was fantastic, the fruit was served with cream and meringue.

I booked lunch for 30 people after a family funeral. We didn’t have a private room but it was in an area that was partitioned from other diners. The two long tables were beautifully set with white tablecloths for our lunch. We started with share platters followed by a main course which each person in our group could order according to their individual preferences. The options included gluten-free meals. Drinks were simply ordered at the bar. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals. The staff were pleasant and efficient and obliged us by turning off the usual music. It was a lovely opportunity for family members who had travelled long distances to catch up over an excellent meal. The Golden City Hotel was able to cater to us without having to resort to banquet arrangements which would have limited the choices of food and drink served to us. I am very grateful to the staff at the Golden City Hotel for the seemingly effortless way in which they made our family group lunch so memorable.

Another great bar on our "mini pub crawl" in Ballarat. Great atmosphere and vibe. Great range of beers and wines (and non-alcoholic drinks) Food available. Happy Hour is great. Thank you to Kieran for his welcoming smile and eagerness to answer our questions. (And the #behindthebarwithsurchy photo). A must visit venue in Ballarat

This was our first Experience at this beautiful brewery, and we were pretty impressed by our visit. This bar had such positive vibes, professional staff, and memorable draft beers. Perhaps the only critique is the relatively high price of the beer, which I believe is justifiable given the quality. It was a great experience and highly recommended to everyone.

Lovely dinner in a great environment. Meals were large and tasty. Atmosphere was great. The place was busy but still easy to talk. Would recommend.

The food was great. Best nachos I have had. And a great afternoon of music. There was a huge variety of beers on tap and more variety in packaged beers.

Cozy place with really fun music. You cannot miss the bbq platter and add the cornbread and housemade ranch, one of the best meals I’ve had. The platter plus a couple of sides was the perfect amount of food for the two of us. Couldn’t be happier

Came here tonight with my mum brother and myself. Atmosphere was comfortable and spacious. Had no trouble waiting for a table. Food came quickly. Absolutely delicious. Would come here again anytime. Recommend to anyone who wants to try something new and enjoy the wide variety of food they have on the menu. The place rocks. 😊⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Having just moved to Ballarat we were keen to explore some different places. We have now been to Hop Temple twice in 4 weeks. The warm eclectic decor is so well done, the staff are super friendly and keen and the food is really good. They have happy hour from 3pm with half price drinks and some food is half price also. It's very good value and we enjoy the vibe. We happened to be there on a Wednesday night when they were running their weekly trivia. I was surprised how full the place was with everyone enjoying the trivia fun. We will keep calling in, it's a great place.

Food was good. Cocktails was fresh. Music was a little loud for dinner time but it has a pub like feel so expect some background music but could have been background music. Was hard to talk to people at the table due to everyone having to yell around you. But other then that would definitely do takeaway food

Table 48 is a popular family-friendly Italian restaurant that offers a range of pizza, pasta, seafood, and steak dishes. The food is delicious and reasonably priced, making it a great option for diners of all ages. The atmosphere is Contemporary with art on the walls, making it an interesting place to visit.
Visited on a Tuesday night and it was busier than expected but we still got a table straight away. The staff were all really friendly and gave some great recommendations on the meals. I decided on the BBQ pork ribs and my wife had the Chicken 48. The meals came out in a good time considering there was a few people there. The BBQ ribs were great, really tender and flavourful, the only thing I would like would be some more of the BBQ sauce, otherwise they were great. I'd rate them 4.5/5. My wife really enjoyed the chicken 48 as well. It was very tasty and quite a large serving. For dessert I went with the Lemon meringue tart. It was really good, not too sweet with a nice lemon tang. Overall a really great night out with good atmosphere and food as well as great service.

The food was absolutely amazing. The staff were just incredible and the owner was the most lovely man. Super pleased and will be returning often.

Beautiful food and wonderful service. The staff was very quick to attend the tables, clear finished plates and fulfill any requests. Our waitress Annie, in particular, was extremely warm, welcoming and radiated with a lovely joyful personality. She made the experience all the more enjoyable. We will definitely be returning customers!

We had chicken 48, bbq chicken and some oysters. Everything was fantastic and fresh! Wanted to try something other than steaks and Chicken 48 didn’t disappoint at all. It was creamy and perfectly seasoned. We really enjoyed our meal :)

It’s amazing service and food in Ballarat, thank you for your service and providing excellent food in this area. The seafood pasta has lobster omg!!! So yummy, and the bolognaise is fantastic too.
Curious ( — Google review
This time, we were sitted on the more casual side of the restaurant. In saying this, it's only the decor, the service, and food are still of a high standard. Due to dietary requirements, we were accomadated with slight changes to our orders. I can say the pizza I had was the best ever. The prawn risotto was light and well balanced, and the spaghetti bolognese was gutsy full of flavours. The chocolate dessert was very light, a good way to finish a meal. If you are in Ballarat, give them a call, go for a meal, or arrange a takeaway. You will not be disappointed.
Michael-lyn M — Google review
We stopped here for dinner midway to Daylesford with no booking and on a whim we got a table on a busy Friday night!  What an absolute surprise it is to experience, not only great meals but good old-fashioned service. The owner himself came to the table and spoke with everyone, ensuring we were all happy & catered for. The meals, wow, so big and worth it. My husband loved the chilli & garlic prawns, the kids who generally don't eat all their meals demolished everything and finished up with amazing desserts and coffee. Whilst we are not local, we will be back for sure! Impressive.
Rebekah S — Google review
Great food and service but noisy birthday bunch right in front of us. Couldn’t hear myself shouting Food and service were excellent. Unexpected and delicious. Lamb was so tender and delicious with the red wine sauce. The vegetables were crisp and fresh, beautifully cooked. My friend had chicken risotto which tasted really good. We were both happy with our choice of dinner venue ❤️❤️😊😊😊😥❤️❤️😊😊

La Porchetta is a renowned Italian restaurant in Ballarat. It serves delicious pizza, pasta and traditional dishes made from the best quality ingredients. The restaurant is always popular with its customers for its friendly staff and good service.
As soon as we opened the door to walk in we were hit with the most delicious smell!!! I knew we were in for a good dinner! I'm not sure if we are meant to order at the counter and we just took so long they came to check on us or if all orders are taken at the table. Either way, our order was taken and drinks came very quickly. We shared bacon and cheese garlic bread from the specials menu. O.M.G it was SOOOOO good!! My son had a great time stretching the cheese! Our pasta arrived and a is usual the pasta served were HUGE. I had got an entree for my son. It did him for dinner and breakfast the next morning (staff gave us a takeaway container to take the leftovers home in). My son usually only eats beige things but he LOVED the Napolitana sauce. I had a dish off the specials menu - pasta with olive oil, garlic, chili and parmesan. It was delicious. I wish we lived in Ballarat because I would love to come back and try something else! 100% recommend coming here for a meal. The place was packed and everyone seemed to be very happy with their night. One take had a couple of mix ups but a i said, it was packed.

Partner enjoyed the meatballs and the spaghetti, garlic bread was pretty standard but the risotto was inedible and definitely some kind of award winning slop. Very busy restaurant with lots of noise….

Called last minute yesterday (approx 6pm) for a table for 9, and we were accommodated straight away! Our server was extremely friendly and helpful, our drinks came quickly (definitely recommend the Midori Splice 🤤) and then came the complimentary bread rolls- I was so excited they still had them!! It was a busy night in the restaurant, but we could all still talk and hear each other- we thought there may be a wait for the food, but everything arrived quickly, and was amazing!!! An excellent night, with excellent food and service. Thankyou

Best Italian food I've had outside of Italy. The pasta was well cooked and the serving sizes are very generous. The vegan options are plentiful and tasty. We will be returning next time we're in Ballarat.

Our server was new but amazing, anything she didn't know she got the answers to fast. We had an amazing time, are stuffed full and even took home leftovers. The only thing we didn't like were the small wooden chairs and tables.

La Porchetta Ballarat is just a comfy and casual place to dine and has become the defacto place for me and Dad to grab lunch at. Doesn't reinvent cuisine, but generous serves, a large menu and good familiar favourites make it a great spot for lunch. Great attentive and friendly staff make it an easy choice for us, plus it's a great place to talk as the tables are not crammed together. Note there's a small step at the front entrance for my wheelie friends out there. Great overall 👍🏻

Kim P — Google review
Went for lunch today and food was terrible. Party of 4 adults and 2 kids. Kids ordered popcorn chicken but it had like chilli or pepper flakes on the coating and kids couldn’t eat it because it was too spicy 🌶️ hot for them. 2 male adults ordered chicken snitzels and the could only eat a 1/4 of the snitzels as they were so soggy like they had been cooked warm oil. Other 2 adults had gnocchi and I couldn’t eat mine as it tasted like vinegar. Waste of $100 very frustrating
Julie K — Google review
I was very disappointed with my recent dining experience at the Robin Hood Hotel. I ordered the Caesar salad, but when it arrived, the lettuce was already going brown — not just on the cut edges, but up the stem and across the leaves. This clearly indicated the lettuce was starting to spoil, and I did not feel comfortable eating it. As a result, I returned the meal to the kitchen after barely touching it. I wasn’t expecting a full refund, but I did ask if at least part of the cost could be refunded. Instead, the only offer was a $10 drink voucher to use on a future visit. To me, this was not a fair or professional resolution. I would have much preferred even a partial refund back in my pocket, rather than being encouraged to come back and spend more money at the venue. Overall, the experience was very disappointing. Fresh ingredients and fair customer service are the basics I expect when dining out, and unfortunately, the Robin Hood Hotel fell short on both.

This bar and grill serves a wide range of dishes, including burgers, wraps, Parmas, bowls, steaks, chips, and much much more. We all enjoyed our meals, they were all great. The wrap I had was very delicious and the chips were thick and crispy perfection. There is also a bar and lots of TVs playing many different sports, so you and your mates can have a couple pints while you watch the latest footy match on a Friday night! (Sorry, got carried away There.) Anyways, I forgot to mention dessert! How silly of me! The chocolate fudge brownie was very chocolatey and delicious, perfection. The service was efficient and fast — it didn't take that long for our food to come. Awesomeness! The atmosphere was electric! As mentioned before, there are many TVs playing many different sports, and many sports fans come here to have a good meal (or a few beers with the mates) while they watch their favourite sports. There are also tables which have little TVs too! (They're reserved for people who made a booking.) There is also an upstairs with, you guessed it, MORE TVS PLAYING SPORTS! HOW INCREDIBLE! So overall, the sporting globe is a great bar and grill to have a meal and a drink at, while you watch your favourite sports! We will definitely be back in the future!

First visit to you guys yesterday and it was the best. Loved every minute of it, great service from staff very friendly and helpful the food was excellent. We definitely will be back again

Great food and atmosphere. Staff polite and friendly. Food didn't have a long wait and was hot. Recommend the Cheese Burger Parma. Get a side of aioli for the chips, tops it off nicely. Monday night so it wasn't busy upstairs, down stairs was busy though. Will diffently be back when I'm in the area.

I felt the advertising for the specials here was very misleading. Kids eat free if you're a member. Steak special on Tuesdays only applies to porterhouse. I ordered the porterhouse, it was very chewy and had zero flavour or seasoning. It was very apparent they're using budget beef. The garlic sauce was sweet and odd tasting. Was very disappointed. My kids didn't enjoy their meal either, the mac n cheese bites were awful. Very thick and pastey on the inside. Staff were really friendly though but unfortunately I can now understand why there was very little patrons there. Food was not great :( and as a single mum who had to save up to go out for dinner, i was really disappointed I chose this place (based on their misleading advertisements)

The Royal Oak Hotel, located just a 20-minute drive from Ballarat, is a charming old country pub with a cozy beer garden for warm days and a dining room featuring an open fire for chilly winters. The walls are adorned with knick-knacks, trophies, and photos, adding to the character of the place. Visitors can enjoy filling pub meals and crisp pints of Carlton Draught while taking in the ambiance.
Stunning place. We did take away as we did not have time to stay. The parmas are worth the stop on our way back to Melbourne. The crew are lovely and care genuinely about their customers. 5/5

Everything about the Royal Oak Hotel was amazing. The atmosphere was fantastic, the roast meals were absolutely delicious and it's such a cool venue with a lot of history. The staff were friendly and welcoming.

Hubby & I love The Royal Oak Hotel! The bartenders are so friendly and the kitchen staff are too. Everyone smiling even when it’s a busy lunch or dinner rush. We have been for dinner twice and sadly we missed the roast on Sunday! You definitely need to book, it’s so popular and the meal sizes are very generous. Oh, btw the vegetables are amazing!! Just a great friendly pub!
Adventures C — Google review
Good range of salads and veggies. Best rib eye steak we’ve had. Nice garlic bread and chips. Can’t go wrong with anything that you order. Will definitely come back, when in town again.

We were in Ballarat on a golf trip from Perth. I have never been to a better pub. The owners were absolutely beautiful and the food was to die for. We wanted the chops and they had run out. They gave us scotch fillet and still only charged us for the chops. We were more than happy to pay for the steak, but they wouldn't have it 🙂 thanks heaps for being so accommodating, absolute legends 🤙😀

Had an excellent experience at the Royal Oak Pub! The Parma was absolutely delicious—crispy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Our server Will was outstanding—super friendly and attentive, which really made the visit even more enjoyable. Will definitely be back!

Great little pub, we all had delicious meals, Chicken Avocado, Parmagiana & Grilled Fish & Chips. Nice little bonus of bread rolls & butter. Cosy atmosphere, not too loud and lovely friendly service. Would definitely recommend 👌

Went for the Sunday roast and was not disappointed. Beautiful roast pork with amazing crackle. On the whole the staff were fantastic and it was so nice to get a well cooked good ole fashion roast meal. Would definitely eat here again

The North Star Hotel offers a diverse menu with vegan and vegetarian options, making it a great choice for those with dietary preferences. The ambiance is cozy and family-friendly, with coloring sheets available to keep kids entertained. The restaurant features a wide selection of beers on tap and provides prompt and friendly service. The food is described as excellent, with the steak being particularly noteworthy. Overall, visitors have praised the pleasant atmosphere and good value offered by the weekday specials.
We are planning to hold a function here in 2025. So we decided to pop in and finally check it out. It was wonderful. The food is absolutely delicious, the staff and service were delightful and friendly. Pricing in the dining room is reasonable and on par with other venues and the portions are great. We were shown around the function room last week by Katie and she was so knowledgeable and helpful. We will be returning and can't wait to book our function.

Had the fish n chips, calamari n chips and steak and chips. The steak and chips was ok. I think the cut let down the steak. It had a few too many gristle. Some bites were nice and tender and others were tough and chewy. It was cooked to order....medium/well done and slightly pink inside. The fish and chips was not chewy. The fish just broke down. I have tried a few fish n chips at restaurants in Ballarat but none can get that nice chewy fish texture. Wonder why. The calamari was nice.

Great casual vibe for lunch or dinner. Had the lunch special and was pleasantly surprised with the generous serving of chicken! My friends had other dishes which was just ok.

Good beer at a great price during happy hour. Crumbed cauliflower were good but only 5 pieces.
Jeff B — Google review
Great atmosphere, perfect combination of old meets new in this beautifully renovated hotel. Had a scotch fillet which was cooked to perfection for $41, good value these days. A couple of little creatures pale ale to go with it. If your looking for a mainstream beer...Carlton draught, great Northern etc...your out of luck, but if you like to mix it up with more craft beers then it's a great spot!

Pub
Nestled in Ballarat East, the Queens Head Hotel has transformed into a must-visit spot under its new ownership. After navigating through some challenging times, this pub now proudly claims to offer the coldest beer and warmest hospitality in town. A highlight of the venue is Lennys Bistro, where diners can indulge in a modern menu crafted from fresh local produce. Guests rave about the generous portions that make for hearty pub meals—perfect for sharing desserts like their delectable apple crumble and brownie!
We really enjoyed our meal and drinks at The Queens Head Hotel last weekend. The food portions are epic, like a real big pub meal. The deserts, you can definitely share the delicious-ness. We tried the apple crumble and brownie between 3 of us. So good, I’m still dreaming about that brownie! We played some board games, too, and loved the atmosphere of the old decor. The new owners are doing a great job.

Great service, great atmosphere and great food. The Parma was better than any other in Ballarat. Chips crunchy and good flavour. Free kids meal was a plus for us. Only gripe was the salad dressing it was just a bity vinegar- there’s so many better options.
Nathan B — Google review
This pub is such a hidden gem. It has rapidly become my favourite in recent months. The staff are so warm and friendly and the food is always amazing. This is what a local pub should look like!

Went with a friend for her birthday. Decor is very interesting. The service was excellent and so friendly. I had crumbed lamb cutlets - soooo yummy. My friend had steak sandwich which she said was delicious but she took half in a doggy bag it was such a big serve.

Scotch egg and Parma where both great, kids loved their meals too. Staff all friendly, the sparkling bitter beer was 10/10.
Daniel — Google review
The service was appropriately polite, friendly, and not pushy. Whilst the dining area may seem a little bland, the tables are easily put together to accommodate our group. The food is no less than one would expect from a regional city pub, and the menu accommodates kids.

I came here for drinks and nibbles post work Friday night, I really love what they’ve done with the place! The food was amazing, as was the service, I highly recommend looking at the specials board! Soooo yummy! Was a really relaxed and comfortable atmosphere in there too, the bar staff were really attentive and made great recommendations for both food and drink. Would 100% go back!!!

Brewery
Event venue
Aunty Jacks is a new addition to Ballarat's brewpub scene, established with funding from the Victorian Government to create a Craft Beer Centre of Excellence. Led by Peter Aldred, a prominent figure in the Australian brewing industry, the majority of beers served are brewed on site. In addition to their own brews, Aunty Jacks offers a variety of other Australian beers.
Love the service, the music, their own brewed beers and the whole vibe! One open fireplace at the front and a cute firebox at the back for that warmth and cosy feel in winter. I especially love the 80’s tunes in the background. Also a screen for the football or sports enthusiasts. Food is great too!! This is one of our favourite drinking holes in Ballarat.
Adventures C — Google review
What an amazing Brewery Restaurant. From the front you won't think it was a brewery, but wait until you walk in, it's more than that. The decor takes you back in time with some amazing wall art and old machines. The place just keeps opening up as you walk through the multiple levels. The brewery is set back on one of the levels and the beers on offer are faultless. I enjoyed two tasting paddles and love every beer I tried. The food we ordered was delicious and didn't take long to arrive at our table.
Paul B — Google review
Aunty Jacks has such a great vibe…warm, welcoming and full of character. I loved the décor and the friendly service added to the experience. The food was excellent, with a hearty pub-style menu and plenty of drink options. We ordered two mains and an entrée for three people, but the entrée arrived on its own rather than with the mains. It would have been nice if the staff had checked our preference, but that’s a small detail in an otherwise great dining experience. Definitely worth a visit when you’re in Ballarat.
Dawn L — Google review
A great place to have beer (or any other drink of your choice) and a nice pub meal. I love the interior of this establishment with all the greenery. I can understand why it’s popular - it’s very inviting. Definitely a must visit when you’re in Ballarat.
TinMan A — Google review
Possibly the coolest place I’ve been to in a while. Lots of unique places to sit and the burger was very homely I enjoyed it allot.
Jordy S — Google review
Very very cool looking place! We went in thinking it was a cafe but actually its restaurant… the staff was so lovely and directed us round the corner to a cafe cos we wanted a takeaway drink. But Aunty Jacks looked so great inside we thought oh well come back. The staff and the place itself I can’t fault. Very lovely and the place looks great. But the food was just okay. Not terrible just not as good as was hoping for. Had the halloumi burger and I think the bruschetta.. hmm it’s a few days later and yep I’ve forgotten because it wasn’t memorable.. unlike Meredith farm stores bruschetta 20 mins away.. :) Anyway I wouldn’t go back unfortunately for that reason.
Mary M — Google review
The Haloumi Chips were the best things I've eaten in my entire life, I'm so sad I'm not local and won't get to eat them very often. All the food we had was amazing, (popcorn chicken, regular chips, haloumi chips and jackfruit tacos), the staff were very friendly and service was quick. I love the vibe/decor of the venue as well, lots of plant life and a couple of fireplaces to make it cozy while still keeping a sort of industrial yet kitschy vibe. Will definately visit again!
Leah S — Google review

Nestled in Sebastopol, just south of Ballarat, the Royal Mail Hotel is a charming destination that holds a piece of local history as the final stop of Ballarat's last tram service back in 1971. Today, this inviting pub offers an impressive selection of beers and delectable meals crafted by head chef Craig Storer. Dropped in just for a beer. Great little Pub. Good service and good atmosphere. I will return for a pub meal

always great service here, food is very good but can vary, not always the same overall good quality of food: had the pumpkin soup, wasn’t expecting the spices but was a delicious flavour, cheesy garlic bread is a must every time ! and the burger was pretty good, chips SO good
Catie H — Google review
Had a great day at this hotel listening to Blues jam. Nice lunch. The only issue was that 1 beer for a 5 hour stay they had run out of zero beer. Disappointing.
Judyth S — Google review
Typical country pub with decent pub grub. Hubby and I finally had a meal here and enjoyed it 😁
Jo M — Google review
Staff were kind enough to accommodate us although the kitchen was almost closing, 2pm on a Thursday. We enjoyed the lamb souvlaki, the chocolate moose and the fish. Well presented and delicate The ambience was great with the fireplace and music. Wanted to try their kangaroo fillet though which was unavailable. Really did not appreciate the portion size for the price. Ample parking is available behind the hotel.
Anand P — Google review
The food and service was good and we had a nice private room with a fire. The only downside was that the menu was a bit limited. Basic pub grub.
Bev S — Google review
It's a real pub with a pool table and lounge instead of pokies. Great staff, cold drinks, nice atmosphere, good location and plenty of parking. Porterhouse Steak Sanga with chips was excellent. We'll be back and we'll send others too.

My meal was not the best and the meatloaf was raw in some places which turned me off, partner said the parma wasn't too bad. Lovely looking pub though inside.
