Saint Wenceslas Cathedral in Olomouc, Czech Republic is a restored Gothic cathedral dating back to the 12th century. It features stunning Baroque architecture and offers guided tours for visitors. The city of Olomouc is known for its rich cultural heritage, charming streets and squares, and beautiful parks and gardens.
Incredibly beautiful Cathedral. Remind me of St. Peter and St. Paul Basilica and St. Ludmila in Praue. Beautiful interior ad well. Highly recommended visit 👌

The beautiful gothic cathedral. You must visit here to see inside when you are in Olomouc.
SATOSHI ( — Google review
I recommend to visit here on Tuesday to Friday so you can also drop by the museum next to the church. I didn’t expect a small city like Olomouc has a cathedral in this style. Personally find the architecture is more breathtaking than the interior.
TheHipsterCher — Google review
The Olomouc St. Wenceslas Cathedral is well worth a visit. The beautiful and large building is situated near its museum and a lovely square, with a pretty garden next to it. The gothic structure has a beautiful interior, with an impressive collection of relics. You can also descent into the catacombs and pay respect to some earlier cardinals, bishops and archbishops.
Siegfried B — Google review
We were surprised to find such a huge and beautiful cathedral in not so big city. We planned just tea take pictures and move next, but when we first saw it, we decided to seat on a bench next to cathedral and were looking at it about a half an hour. 100 meters tower, Czech king was killed in one of its room, and big restoration was made in 2007. So you should visit it.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Olomouc Astronomical Clock, situated on the north side of the Town Hall, is a remarkable landmark with a rich history. Originally constructed in the 1400s, it underwent significant changes after being damaged during World War II. The clock's redesign during the Communist era resulted in unique Social Realist mosaics and an animated display at noon featuring depictions of workers and engineers.
The Astronomical Clock in Olomouc, Czech Republic, is a fascinating historical landmark that blends medieval engineering with post-WWII socialist realism. Originally built in the 15th century, it showcases not only the time but also astronomical data such as the position of the sun, moon, and zodiac signs. Unlike traditional astronomical clocks, its figurines represent workers and scientists instead of saints, reflecting its Communist-era redesign. This unique timepiece offers a blend of science, history, and political symbolism, making it a must-see for visitors interested in both horology and Czech history.
Martin — Google review
Smaller but nice astronomical clock, built in 15th century. Nicely reconstructed in the fifties. The best time to come in see it it's by noon, when all the small statues come to life.

The Church of St. Maurice, also known as the St. Moritz Church, is a 13th-century Roman Catholic church in Olomouc featuring stunning Gothic architecture and a stone belltower. It was consecrated at the end of the 14th century, although its exact construction date remains unknown. The church's asymmetrical two towers are an iconic element of Olomouc's skyline, with the southern tower being a popular tourist attraction offering panoramic views of the city when climbed.
A magnificent panoramic view of the city from St.Morice's Church top tower. Ascending the narrow stairs was a bit of a challenge but it paid off finally. There was no charge for that.
Tatiana — Google review
We climbed the steps of the bell tower at St Maurice church, around 200 of them, to the top. The spiral staircase going up is beautiful. When you get to the top you can see the bell system and then go up another floor to see the view over the rooftops of the whole city. There are signs to explain what you are looking at and on the way down there are signs explaining the history of the church. We were the only ones up there at 2pm on a Sunday afternoon. The church ask for a donation only.
Caitlin R — Google review
Beautiful church with a stunning interior. There are beautiful paintings inside and it was so quiet while we were there. One of the coolest things is you can climb the very ancient bell tower. I’m terrified of heights so it was a struggle but the views of Olomouc are beautiful.
Michael R — Google review
The belltower climb is a bit exhausting but worthwile for the view of the city. Voluntary donation for which I would encourage people to give, as this building should be kept for the future generations.
Alen — Google review
We encountered a passionate church worker to introduce the magnificent organ to us, haha despite we didn’t understand the language. The huge touch screen panel helped a lot. We got to see the restoration process of the organ. If you are a fan of admiring organ, please visit here.
TheHipsterCher — Google review
Beautiful church with a big Problem: This is one of the many beautiful catholic churches the city of Olomouc has to offer. It is open in the day time and enables a great opportunity for a silent prayer while traveling or just passing through the city. BUT: as a catholic I am ashamed that out of all places this sacred one is where you will be met with hostile architecture. In front of this beautiful church there are multiple benches. Those benches are all facing to the front door of the church. But all of those benches were adjusted to be hostile to anyone seeking a place to sleep. On the sitting space of those benches you will find randomly placed nobs. They serve no aesthetical purpose. Their only purpose is to make those benches uncomfortable for anyone who wants to sit or lay on them for more than 10 minutes. This is a shame. No bench and especially no bench that is facing a sacred church should ever be build to be hostile to the most deprived people. I obviously don't know if those benches are property of this parish or are agreed on by the church administration. BUT how can the church administration read Marcus 10:46-52 and still tolerate this hostility against homeless, disabled or elderly in front of their own church? I call out the administration of the church to exchange these benches if they are the church's property or to demand an exchange in front of the local authorities if the benches are in public hand. How can we sit in a church and listen to the gospel of Jesus taking care of the homeless and abandoned people while 2 meters in front of the church we have placed benches that are hostile to exactly those people? This has to be changed ASAP if this church wants to be serious about their faith in God and the church's teachings. May God forgive us the hostilities we commit and may God recognize our efforts to change to the better.
Pascal B — Google review
The church tower is free to visit, the view from the top is excellent

Nestled on a small hill near Wenceslas Square, Olomouc Castle is a historical complex that houses the Olomouc Archdiocesan Museum. The museum features permanent exhibitions of visual arts with a focus on spiritual culture. Visitors can explore various spaces within the castle, from archaeological areas to the "garden of paradise" and an exhibition of sacred objects. While the castle itself may be closed at times, its proximity to the cathedral allows for stunning views and free access.
Hidden from the main road, looks like a treasure to discover. Beautiful and dense of history.

With over 65,000 items including paintings, sculptures, drawings, and architectural documentation, it's one of the largest institutions of its kind in the country.
Simply the most important Museum in Olomouc. Huge cicle of frescoes in the cloister. Rare example of romanesque architecture over the cloister. Important gallery, with paintings of Sebastiano Del Piombo and other famous XVI and XVII century, remainings of Olomouc castle ...and much much more. And useful audio guide in different languages. Definitely not to miss.

Skvělé! [český ,Czech (meaning: awesome)] Firstly, I am Rep. of KOREA student. And, I didn't well english. Anyway~ Today, I went to this museum. This place have absolutely diverse things. For example, luxury carriage, beautiful treasures, very great drawings historical items, and significant spaces. I was deeply impressed. Here, I learned the history of the Czech Republic, and the staff on the first floor lent me a tablet pc and it was very good to understand many works. Honesty, I didn't interested arts and religion. But I changed. I really want to vist here once again. I encourage visitor to learn simple Czech. I hope you will communicate with Czech people who are kind in Czech. When I went back, I was so happy 😄. When I leave the museum, I am really sorry that I can not express to the staff that this museum is really great.😢

Big church museum that contains some of the most important paintings and items. Ground floor preserves the original castle remains and sculptures, the first floor exibits golden carriage and other religious items used in Christian ceremonies amd the second floor features many valuable paintings.

I downloaded the English audio tour before I left the hotel and paid at the palace door. The staff were very kind and there was no problem purchasing the tickets. The tour and palace are very interesting because like most European historical structures it starts from the medieval times and continues to morph and be added onto throughout the ages. In the basement, you can see the castle cellars and then it moves through the ages. My favorite item in the entire place were life size statues of Jesus and his sleeping apostles in the Garden of Gesthename. The museum does need to put arrows of where to go for each step of the audio tour. Well worth the admission fee.

The Archbishop's Palace in Olomouc is a stunning example of early Baroque architecture, located just a short distance from the cathedral. The palace offers guided tours that provide insight into its history, former residents, and notable visitors. Built on the foundations of the old Olomouc Castle, it now houses the city's most important museum and church. Visitors can explore the Archdiocesan Museum to view artifacts dating back 1,000 years.
The palace of the archbishop of Olomouc has an interesting history. The guide tells you all about it, in Slovak or German, with an English recount on paper. If you like local and Habsburg history, it’s worth the tour. It takes you through some of the old official apartments, some state rooms and the throne room, a more recent library and it ends in a cute little exhibition.
Siegfried B — Google review
I joined the tour. The tour starts twice a day. The language is Czech, so other language-speakers will receive the German or English text pages. The text is written by each room. Apart from the guiding text, the artifacts are marvelous. Tourists must visit and see. Taking fotos cost for 2euros through the tour.
SATOSHI ( — Google review
Beautiful palace and cheap tour (50 ck for students). Tour was almost 1 hour long and went through 9 rooms, but the tour guide only spoke in Czech, so for those who want to learn the history of the palace, we would have to listen to an audio guide or read a few sheets of text. Having the tour guide give the tour in English--the 3rd most spoken language in the world--definitely would have improved the quality of the tour and attract more tourists, instead of catering to those who already live in the country.
Boris T — Google review
Extremely interested, magnificent, with very interesting history. Order a guided tour in advance.

Shortened guided tour due to Covid was still 30 minutes long. We didn't want to wait for the next English tour, but they gave us reading material and the guide gave us a quick overview between rooms. He seemed to be very engaging during the tour, especially with the children. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and learn something.

A hidden but important part of local history often overlooked by tourists. It is the official seat of the archbishop of Olomouc. You can pay for a guided tour of the representative halls, which is typically in Czech but you can request an audio guide or reading materials.

(Translated by Google) Complete chaos. Some teachers even list exam dates after the state exams. In addition, the system contains fundamental errors, where it allows students to pass an exam without completing the course, then shows the subject as completed and credits are awarded. However, it is only at the last moment that it is discovered that the course is actually missing, and the student is not admitted to the state exams. The whole thing seems like a huge organizational mess that must be taken into account and ideally kept in reserve for at least an extra year just to wait. (Original) Naprostý chaos. Někteří vyučující vypisují termíny zkoušek klidně až po státnicích. Systém navíc obsahuje zásadní chyby, kdy umožní splnit zkoušku bez splněného zápočtu, studentovi pak ukáže předmět jako splněný a připíše kredity.

A very unique and delicious dining experience. They bring the quality of a Michelin restaurant but with more satisfying and satiating foods. The atmosphere is amazing with an open kitchen and spectacular layout. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a great dining experience and doesn’t mind paying for it.

Entree is a rare find: absolutely top-tier dining in an out of the way location. It is worth the travel, and is a not-to-be-missed experience especially if you are traveling east from Prague. The cuisine is exquisite and creative, light and inspired; the service and staff rivals the finest restaurants in the world. You will love it!

Due to the category of the restaurant and its prices, this is not your everyday restaurant to go to. But it's surely an amazing choice for special or more official occasions, for both business and personal reasons. I and my boyfriend went to the restaurant to celebrate and we chose the longest tasting menu the place offers. Each meal was a small masterpiece. I especially liked starters, as I found them interesting and playful. I also tried non-alcoholic drink pairing that is prepared for the tasting menus. This was adding to the taste of the meals and it was creating unique taste combinations. But the drinks were also too sweet for me, so the next time I would try the tasting menu without the non-alcoholic drink pairing. One thing to mind, music might be a bit too loud sometimes. Or maybe it's just some tables. Our was in a corner and there might have been echo from the walls around. I really recommend the place, as I believe that you won't be disappointed. And I also recommend to plan your visit long enough in advance, as the reservations spots are booked out few weeks in advance.
Jana K — Google review
Exceptional 12 course tasting! It took 3 hours to get through it, so take enough time to enjoy it. One star down for location at a busy crossroad. The atmosphere gets better after dusk when you see reflection of the restaurant in the window glass.

The Chapel of St. Jan Sarkander is a small, rounded chapel with a fascinating history. It is named after a local priest who was tortured and died in 1620 for refusing to disclose confessions. The chapel is built on the site where he was held and tortured, creating a moving and historically significant place to visit. Visitors can explore the beautiful architecture both inside and out, with stunning sculptures adding to its appeal.
I accidentally came upon this chapel when visiting St Michael’s church. It’s small but beautiful and built on the prison where St. Sadkandera was held and tortured. A really moving place and the architecture of this church both inside and out are really fascinating.

Outdoor Activities
Nestled in the picturesque setting of Svaty Kopecek, the Olomouc Zoo, or Zoologicka Zahrada Olomouc, spans an impressive 42.5 hectares of lush forest. This enchanting zoo is home to over 1,800 animals representing more than 354 species from around the globe. With a strong commitment to conservation, it actively participates in breeding programs aimed at protecting endangered species through initiatives like the European Endangered Species Programme (EEP).
Very nice ZOO situated within hilly terrain. Kind of smaller than Prague ZOO and during my visit there were some reconstructions ongoing, so some parts of ZOO were not fully accessible. Bunch of signs where you can learn various informations, lot of picnic-like places including shopping stalls. In the middle on the highest hill is located observation tower, from where you can see everything. There is also small safari-train where you can sit (60 czk per person) which will take on ride you around the ZOO during which you hear interesting things about animals that you passing by, definitelly recommend.

Definitely one of the better zoos in Czech Republic. Can spent whole day there. Food options are rather poor though, mostly fast food unfortunately.

Nice place to spend time with family. Cons, because parking is really small and you have to park the car far from the zoo.

I like this zoo a lot. Kids are always happy to see nice health animals with plenty of room to walk, sleep and play. Food in here is average, do not expect to have something really special, but its not the major thing in here :). There are plenty of playgrounds for kids, who are thrilled to play there. You can visit lookout tower in the middle of the zoo, and see the whole place from bird perspective. Kids love to visit the goat area, where you can feed and pet the goats. Its so cool and small kids love this! The zoo is well taken care of and they improve the quality of this place each year!

Fantastic zoo and was definitely worth leaving Prague for. Animal variety is extremely impressive and they are treated well by the friendly and passionate zoo staff. In contrast to many other zoos the animals are always clearly visible, while also assuring that they have the opportunity to remain unseen and undisturbed if they feel like it. There are also plenty of opportunities for getting up close with many of the animals, which can lead to some unforgettable interactions. There are also plenty of bathrooms, and kiosks where you can buy food, snacks, and dessert among other things. The zoo is also extremely well maintained and clean, making it a pleasant visiting experience. The only factor weighing down my score is the lack of credit card support in most if not all of the facilities in the zoo, which makes it important to bring cash in case you need snacks, drinks or you get hungry, while exploring the zoo.

Beautifal Zoo 7km away from the city of Olomouc. De tickets are cheap and you can spend 3 or 4 hours to see everhthing of the zoo. It is situated on In the hills and forest. When your finished it's nice to visit the Basilik church nearby the zoo. From here you will have amazing view over Olomouc. The zoo is also reached by public transport from Olomouc railway station you take the bus for 15 minutes.

This is truly one of my favorite places in town — the atmosphere is just so unique. The quality of their products and the attentive service are a huge plus; the staff are always friendly and happy to help with any questions. Since it’s a café/bar, their extended hours make it even better. They also change the menu every single day, which is another great reason to visit often! I go there to work, meet friends, and even host group activities like journaling and it’s always a solid 10/10.

Peaceful place but TERRIBLE espresso, stick to latte drinks. I had a double espresso and it was burnt, harsh, and honestly pretty bad. It should be illegal to own a big La Marzocco machine and make coffee this bad. The cafe's terrace is nice and quiet under tea trees and very peaceful, but definitely not the place if you’re after good espresso. The brownie was okay though.
E — Google review
This inconspicuous independent café has the advantage of English speaking staff and some amazing chef. When I arrived after 3pm, luckily they still had daily menu. The curry, albeit gluten-free and tasty, was initially sprinkled with coriander, which I can't eat, but they quickly replaced it with a fresh portion without it. (It would have been 10 stars if they added parsleys or salad instead) But what I had least expected was the only gluten-free dessert: beetroot brownies with sour cherries. It was honestly the best brownie I'd ever had! Keep up with gluten-free options and please keep serving the blissful brownies (and of course keep the chef)! The only negative part of my experience was that there was a customer smoking indoors at one point.

The Kathmandu Nepali Restaurant, located in the Lower Square of Olomouc above Masne kra, is a family-owned establishment known for its daily use of fresh ingredients in preparing Nepali and Indian classics. The restaurant offers a budget-friendly fixed price lunch buffet and an extensive main menu featuring dishes like lamb Rogan Josh with Saffron rice.
We found Katmandu on Google maps searching for a high rated place to eat. First of all, the restaurant is super cozy with all the Nepali decorations and music. The staff is friendly and speaks English, but for polish people there is no problem to understand each other. There is a really nice lunch idea served at the restaurant. For around 170kč there is all you can eat vegetarian buffet (drinks not included). We picked the lunch offer and other vegetarian dish. Everything was delicious as expected. Definitely recommend this place

We visited this restaurant for a lunch during a walk through the city. Although the entrance doesn’t appeal to you very much, the inside has a quite nice atmosphere. The food was delicious and the portions were very generous. The staff could have been more attentive, but it got quite busy during lunch.

The restaurant has a nice warm atmosphere with lots of tables and seating. The service was a bit slow but the waitress was super nice. Spoke English and Czech very well. The appetizers were large portions and the chicken tikka roll was delicious but difficult to eat without making a mess. The lunch menu is served as a buffet Monday-Friday from 11-1300, which is a great deal for the price.

Small Holy Hill above Olomouc. Moravia. Extraordinary baroque place with organic art of Itally masters. Worth to stay here over night in gloving gentel energy. I'm not sure what came first, the energy of this place, or the purity and holiness of the members of the local Premonstratensian convent, or the beauty of the people climbing to the sky, but it is a place where prejudices and concepts fall away and the gentle inner light of "Mary", "our lady", remains.

We visited as a group of 11, consisting of two families with children. The café was very busy and crowded, and unfortunately the menu options were quite limited. Surprisingly, there were no pancakes or waffles available for the kids. When we asked the waitress about alternatives, she responded rather abruptly with, “I can’t deal with this right now.” It seemed she was overwhelmed and unable to accommodate a larger family group. A real pity, as we had high hopes for the experience. Sadly, we wouldn’t recommend this place for family dining.

An incredible Spot for rose lovers. Although the area is not very lange, there is an abundancy of roses to be seen. A small cafe and toilets are there.

Huge garden with a very lax and refreshing atmosphere. Surrounded with buildings, historic and contemporary alike. I had a great time taking a walk and hanging around the garden. Definitely worth paying a visit or two.

It's a pretty park, we were there alone for about an hour, sitting on benches. Some of the roses were in full bloom and were very pretty. The view of the large park below is great too. Minutes' walk from the university on one side and from the large botanical garden on the other.

I really like this place. Very cozy and romantic. Could be good for dates and taking pictures. Also there some lovely looking ducks)

Pretty place with lots of roses. Many different kinds, everything well written. I recommend going on not that sunny day because it's really pain to survive in the heat. If you enjoy nature and roses, visit Rosarium. You can bring blanket and chill on the grass as well.

A beautiful museum for the whole family. If you're not in a hurry, the tour lasts two hours. Expeditions focused on geology and biology are also suitable for children. Be sure to stop by.

Great museum! A little kid-orientated by I enjoyed myself thorougly. When I was there there was an ongoing rock exhibition nearby which was stunning - especially due to the nice man running the place who was very passionate.

Large collection of natural, geophysical, and historical artifacts! The infopanels in the history section were very dense in information, and paint a complete picture of the history of Olomouc and Morovia as a whole. It was very cheap, and I enjoyed myself quite a lot! Note that English was not always available.

Upper Square, also known as Horni Namesti, is a charming location perfect for a holiday. The main square features the impressive Holy Trinity Column, a 35-meter tall Baroque monument commemorating survival of the 18th-century plague outbreak. Additionally, the town hall building houses an astrological clock with 365 saints' names. However, visitors should be cautious when using ATMs in the area and inquire about credit card acceptance at local restaurants.
Incredibly beautiful "Upper Square" in Olomouc. Unfortunately, Trinity Column is under renovation as of August 2024! Still, it is worth visiting for the Town Hall, Astronomical Clock, Hercules Sculpture, Caesar Sculptures, and other sculptures that surround the Town Hall and the Upper Square. This town is a perfect choice for a holiday. But be careful you'll have to ask the restaurant if they accept credit card. There are many small restaurants they don't accept credit, be very careful, don't use ATM,, JBL charge you a lot of money. We used the ATM , we took 200 Czech crowns out of it. They charged extra costs now the same the amount. They charged 195 Czech krone. Do not use ATM, just use your card.

A magical place where old and new meet. You can definitely feel the stunning atmosphere of the old city and at the same time see lots of young people walking around. A must-see location if you're visiting in the region. The architecture is amazing, as well as the restaurants and the transport. Great location.

One of the two nice town squares of Olomouc. Good ice-cream, try poppy seed, it's very good. For the experimental ones try cucumber (no idea how that tastes). Town hall in the middle of the square, with an astronomical clock in socialist realism style. Small figures move at noon only. There is a white church behind the square where you can go up it's square tower for a view over the city.

Long Story Short Hostel & Café is a trendy accommodation with sleek quarters and a cafe/bar featuring a terrace and breakfast buffet. The hostel also houses a modern restaurant and bakery in the city center, offering coffee, cake, lunch, and dinner options either indoors or in the beautiful courtyard during summer. The vibrant atmosphere during summer months includes various activities and parties. Guests praise the comfortable rooms, modern yet cozy building design, patient staff, and impressive bathrooms.
Truly one of the nicest hostels I have ever stayed in. Very beautiful design and spacious, clean rooms with comfy beds. The atmosphere was delightful. Highly recommend.
Whitney T — Google review
This is an amazing spot, loved our stay here, would definitely stay again. Very comfy bed, nice bathroom. The building is beautifully renovated, very stylish. Great breakfast (for about 8 eir per person) with excellent bread and really nice batch brew coffee. Very good vibes. Nice staff. About 10min walk to the main square. Would really recommend their restaurant. They have free private parking, not possible to book (we arrived at approx 17 on a friday and got a spot).
Dominika N — Google review
An absolute oasis of great hospitality, spacious, modern and clean facilities and friendly staff. Especially girls at breakfast. The former bakery from 1800s was restored perfectly and brought to modern 21st century standards. Loved my stay here. Little drawbacks: They don't serve decaf in any of their restaurants. Cleaning (and breakfast?) staff start making noise in the corridors as early as 5am. It woke me up. But I guess that's inevitable. They can't levitate, can they? 🤷‍♂️
Beth — Google review
Great value for money! Modern, chic, clean. Historic building. Quiet location, still only 4 minutes away from tram stop and 12 minutes walk to old town center. Can buy healthy and tasty breakfast. Only negative, no privacy curtains
Kiran K — Google review
Comfortable room, clean bathroom, beautiful building, excellent breakfast. The restaurant is nice too, just pricey.
Jacob C — Google review
A modern, shabby chic accommodation. The room I stayed in was quiet, just right for a night's sleep. Check-in can be done online beforehand, but the automated email you receive is all in Czech and you have to use a translator. When I arrived, I was told that all the beds but one were occupied in my room, but it looked like two out of six beds simply hadn't been serviced - I only had 3 x roommates on the day I stayed. It would have been nicer if I was able to sleep in one corner by the door, which was vacant but not yet ready for a new guest. The card key is needed to turn/keep the lights on. This system helps the hostel save electricity, but is not for the guests' sake. Because, when you're leaving the room and your card key is in use for the lights, obviously you have to take the card with you so one of the remaining guests in the room has to get up and insert theirs. The establishment is missing two hostel basics: communal kitchen (or I just wasn't told there is one?), fridges easily accessible for guests. It didn't appear that there was a facility to make hot drinks, really basic in cheapest hostels I've stayed before. Although the decoration is stylish and the concept is great, the business could consider the utility aspects as above if they are interested in improving customer experience.
R P — Google review
didn’t stay at the hostel but the front desk was nice enough to show me around and give a tour before the guests arrived. i totally would come and stay if you are visiting the area. it’s a bliss to not have to stay on a bunk for a change. the simple and modern design adds a sleek flair. the courtyard even had a sauna very impressive.

I had the most amazing days there! I can say this is the BEST hostel I've stayed my whole life. I was solo tripping and I felt so good and so secure there... It was October and close to the hostel, an Oktoberfest was going on! You're gonna find some quality food here, I had an chicken pasta and omg very good. The staff was very very pacient and nice to me! The building is modern and cozy at the same time! I stayed in a 6-bed bedroom and it was very comfortable! The bathrooms are perfect too! Next time I come to Olomouc, I'm going to stay here again FOR SURE

The Marian Column, erected in 1723 on Dolni namesti, commemorates the city's survival of a devastating plague outbreak. Situated in a well-preserved town square, it stands apart from bustling traffic and tourists, offering a serene ambiance. Surrounding it are diverse dining establishments and bars catering to various preferences. This section of town exudes a vibrant student atmosphere and is an excellent addition to any stroll through this historically rich destination.
Marian Column looks great. When I first came here I was very fixated on seeing Holy Trinity Column, I took this Maeian Column for granted. I returned in 2024, Trinity Column is under restiration process so I took closer look at Marian Column and realized this is a very good column, plus Dolni Namesti is more quaint and charming!!! Marian columns are religious monuments depicting Virgin Mary on the top, often built in thanksgiving for the ending of a plague (plague columns) or for some other reason. I recommend checking it out in details!!! 😎👍

The Coffee Library, located within the Palacky University building, is a popular cafe among students and the general public. Renowned for its delectable lunch menus and excellent coffee, it offers a diverse selection of dishes to satisfy different tastes. However, due to the bustling atmosphere created by people enjoying their meals and engaging in conversations, it may not be an ideal choice for those seeking a peaceful environment for discussions or freelance work.

The staff at this restaurant put a reservation slip on the table we were still using without any discussion while we were using it, and at the same time, there were still other empty seats nearby, they didn't choose to put it on the other empty seats, they just walked towards us, and when we asked the reason afterwards, we were told that we need to move out or get out when it's time to do so, which I was very angry about! Maybe we are bullied just because we are Asian faces, I think their clerks are full of discrimination! FYI: The first time they made me coffee there was hair in it.

Sophie's Café offers a wide range of options and has a pleasant atmosphere. The staff is friendly and the coffee and breakfast are excellent, particularly the eggs. The café is open from 7am to 11pm, which is convenient. It is a beautiful place both inside and outside, perfect for stopping by for a coffee. The desserts, especially the chia pudding, are delicious and worth trying.
I’d go to this cafe again. The hot and spicy juices are so good. Nice atmosphere of the old building. I personally recommend it to English speaking tourists because they have the menu in English and they also speak English. If you happen to be on a train that goes to Olomouc Hlavní nadrazi I recommend you get off and go to this cafe. I recommend to your kids ( if it’s wintertime ) the hot and spicy juices ( they’re not it just means they have cinnamon and cloves in it ).

I came here twice during my time in Olomouc. It is a super cosy little cafe. They have a breakfast menu, but then for lunch or dinner there are limited food options. This is the place to be based on the traffic on a Saturday morning around 10.30. Stopping in for breakfast, we ordered two lattes, granola with yogurt and fruit, banana bread, and a cinnamon roll. The lattes came with beautiful latte art and I enjoyed mine. The food was just okay. The banana bread looked so moist, but it was not. It was very dry. The granola was meh. I'm not really into coffee places, but since I came to Nacucky for the first time I fell in love with the atmosphere, the food and the most important point, the staff. The staff is awesome, always smiling (even when they have these waves of people coming one after another), I feel that they are always really concerned about your orders and If everything it is going well, I really wouldn't be able to think about any bad characteristic to point out, and that ? that it is really hard, since I'm always looking to the bad thing of life. So ? now that I read some bad reviews, just make me think that is just people with a bad day (or intentions) just to put down a beautiful place with amazing food and wonderful staff. I would really recommend this place to all my friends and family, but sadly they are living in another continent, so I would just leave this humble review of this place and I hope more people had the chance to come as soon as possible. best regards, JAB

Spacious, but cozy place in the historical centre of Olomouc. We loved the option to order brunch menu including not only main dish (breakfast), but also juice, batch brew and small dessert to finish. Wide variety of savoury and sweet treats, dishes taken from grandma's cupboard, artwork hanging on walls leading to toilet, chatty lady from theatre located in the same building (we even took a few leaflets with programme to distribute in our city). On top of that, this cafe is located on the ground floor of a beautiful old villa at the top of the medieval city wall. In the warmer months it is lovely to sit outside and enjoy the view over Bezručovy Sady (the park around the city wall with a beautiful creek running through it). But mostly come here for the coffee 😊

Restaurant
Long Story Short Eatery & Bakery is a must-visit restaurant located in a historical fortress in Olomouc. It pays tribute to the building's history as an army bakery by baking its own bread, including wheat-rye sourdough and Danish pastries. The menu changes every 1-2 weeks and offers a creative twist on classic dishes using locally-sourced products.
This place was a big surprise for me in Olomouc. I didn't want to dine in a classic czech pub but in a modern restaurant with a nice ambience and I found it. I loved this place, the selection of wines, very kind waiter and tasty food. They also have daily menu for a lunch. Highly recommended!

Such a gem! Beautiful location and great atmosphere. The food is amazing. We couldn’t choose so we picked a lot to share from the starters menu and main course menu. The desserts were not only delicious but also beautiful. Thanks for the great evening and fantastic food. I even dropped by the next day to buy myself a bread for at home. 😁

Amazing place for lunch and buying take away bakery. Fast service, friendly staff and cozy atmosphere. Food is wonderful, coffee and deserts are also great. Prices are not low, but it definitely worth it. I recommend you to try onion soup and lemonade.

My wife and I really enjoyed this place. The menu is not particularly rich, but it is very well thought, and it has some innovative takes to traditional menu items. Everything we've ordered was very tasty, and the choice of wines was fitting our taste. Add super friendly staff, nice atmosphere and you'll have an all round pleasant experience.

I think is my favorite restaurant in Olomouc. Great atmosphere, very minimal design and great service. The restaurant is surrounded by beautiful garden, I wish they were bigger windows so you can see more of the view. As food we had, starter a selection of cheese and meat with their own homemade bread, butter and some spread. Their butter is amazing tasty. Highly recommend. As main course we choose veal schnitzel and pork food with pineapple and veggies and lot of colander. The food was lovely cooked, delicious and everything was looking great! As dessert we choose one cake with pumpkin yogurt and orange, and one cheesecake with mango. The cake with pumpkin it was interesting combination, I like it but the mango cheesecake was nothing special. They need to improve their pastry. It total I liked the experience to eat there and enjoy a calm atmosphere. If you go to Olomouc is highly recommend!

Amazing location for lunch and probably also dinner. The food was absolutely wonderful, and I would visit again. The price is a bit higher than the rest of the city, but you get a higher standard in return. So fair pricing. The staff was very friendly overall and the service quick. Most also spoke English. And they even had a hedgehog in the garden! Seems like a fairytale locations for weddings too. One older lady was very rude though, both the us and the staff. Try not to bark at your colleagues, try laughing a bit more and talk to your guests or at least recognize them when they talk to you. When she looked at me and I mention something, she just looked up and walked away. Maybe she doesn’t speak English, but this is plain rude. Nonetheless, I will not include it in the review, because the younger girls were absolutely amazing and compensated for this. So great visit, will absolutely come again!

Historical landmark
Sloup Nejsvětější Trojice, also known as the Holy Trinity Column, is a significant landmark located in Olomouc. It stands in a square and features copper sculptures of the Holy Trinity along with a small chapel at its base. This impressive piece of Baroque architecture is considered to be the largest and most beautiful Marian column in the world.
In a beautiful square in the middle of Olomouc, in the Czech Republic, is the Holy Trinity Column. It is a massive, baroque, Catholic monument from the 1700’s. It celebrates the end of a plague, is very tall and imposing and covered with gold and copper highlights. The column is set in a lovely, cobblestone square with a Hercules fountain, an intricate, astronomical clock and stone statues. Colourful pinwheels line one of the streets from above. The Olomouc astronomical clock is also nearby, built in the 15th century and is worth seeing. Its rooster crows on the hour and it is very intricate with its mosaics and moving characters. There are nice restaurants (we had lunch in one and it was excellent) and the square is lined with lovely, old buildings that are all beautifully maintained. It’s an idyllic square to visit if you are in the Czech republic.

One of the best Baroque Columns in Europe but sadly it is under construction as of August 2024. You may want Google some information when the estimate finush time would be before visiting. I came down to Olomouc for this Column but looks like I will go home with stinky cheese instead, haha 😄 Baroque monument (Trinity column) that was built between 1716 and 1754. The main purpose was to celebrate the Catholic Church and faith, partly caused by feeling of gratitude for ending a plague, which struck Moravia (now in the Czech Republic) between 1713 and 1715.[1]: 18  The column was also understood to be an expression of local patriotism, since all artists and master craftsmen working on this monument were Olomouc citizens, and almost all depicted saints were connected with the city of Olomouc in some way

(Translated by Google) A nice new store with a fairly decent assortment, good pastries and especially meat, which was missing a lot in the area. Prices are currently comparable to the competition, a little cheaper, a little more expensive. A self-service checkout would be a good idea, queues sometimes form, but there was probably no room. The entrance from the other side is not planned, the sidewalk does not lead in the direction of the elementary school, you have to either go along the road and weave between parked cars, or through the mud from the adjacent sidewalk around the store. (Original) Pekna nova prodejna s celkem slusnym sortimentem, dobrym pecivem a predevsim masnou, ktera v lokalite dost chybela. Very impressive collection of mostly Czech cars and motorcycles from pre 1940’s. Very good presentation of excellently-renovated vehicles. Kind staff. The Indian motorcycle collection is remarkable. Located in the old town, the Church of Our Lady of the Snows was constructed by the Jesuits in the early 18th century. Initially serving as a university and later as a garrison church, this beautiful building boasts magnificent architecture and an excellent organ with impressive acoustics. While some areas are inaccessible, visitors can still admire its gorgeous exterior and solid structure. Despite being closed at times, it remains a special and pretty sight to behold for anyone exploring the area.
This is one of the most owrwhelmingly beautiful Baroque styled churches in the Czech Republic. The exterior is nice but the entire is very, very owrwhekming!!! The building stems from the prototype of a Jesuit church with a ring of chapels above the main nave. The most expressive element of the undulated frontispiece of the cathedral is the monumental portal with twisted columns, a balcony with a balustrade and cartouche. The cathedral's interior has lavish stucco work and painted ornamentation. The church was built on the site of a former Minorite Monastery, part of the oldest Jesuit college in Moravia. The original church was destroyed by the Swedish army but was not restored as it was not big enough. The new church was constructed following the design and a wooden model by M. Klein under the guidance of L. Klöckel. During a visit by Cardinal Aldobrandini, later Pope Clement VIII, or on state visits by emperors, the church could hold as many as 2,500 people. In 1773, when the Jesuit order was dissolved, the complex passed to the local military garrison and served as a warehouse. Today it is once again accommodates the university established in 1576, renowned in the 18th century for its graphic theses, carved in Czech and German (Augsburg).

(Translated by Google) The modestly furnished Chapel of St. Anne was built on the foundations of earlier religious buildings. From the early 17th century, it was associated with the Brotherhood of St. Anne, which revived its activities at the Jesuit church. It served as the venue for the election of Olomouc bishops. At the end of the 19th century, it was shortened by a southern bay (during the regothicization of St. Wenceslas Cathedral in 1883-1892). The pediment features a Mannerist portal bearing the coat of arms of Bishop Dietrichstein and a marble relief depicting St. Anne of Samothrace.

(Translated by Google) Rectory church. Since 1598, the rector of the church has always been a canon of the Olomouc chapter, who has had the right to wear the pontifical since 1752. In ecclesiastical practice, these are the insignia of the high priest, i.e. bishops including the pope (ring, miter - headdress, crutch, pectoral pendant - breast jewel, formerly gloves), as well as some other distinguished dignitaries (provosts, archdeacons, etc.). I would also like to add that the church of St. Anny is included among the national cultural monuments. (Original) Rektorátní kostel. To jsou v církevní praxi insignie velekněze, tedy biskupů včetně papeže (prsten, mitra - pokrývka hlavy, berla, pektorální přívěsek - náprsní šperk, dříve ještě rukavice), a také některých dalších význačných hodnostářů (proboštů, arciděkanů apod.). Ještě dodám, že kostel sv. Anny je zařazen mezi národní kulturní památky.

Pevnost poznání in Olomouc is the first interactive science museum in central Moravia, belonging to the category of science centers. It provides an informal environment for playful exploration of natural and social phenomena. The museum offers a variety of interactive exhibits that cater to both children and adults, making it perfect for family visits.
It was great! Lots of fun science experiments. Our experience was a date, and we chose all of the parts of the museum. Everything was interactive which i loved! Definitely reccomend.

For an hour, this science center inside a historic fortification kept my six-year-old daughter engaged. It's much smaller than VIDA in Brno, but it's still worth a visit. After purchasing tickets, we explored three floors of exhibits. The ground floor tells the history of the fortification while the upper two levels teach kids about the human body, the earth, light and darkness, physics, etc. For 50 CZK more, my daughter got to go on a spinny ride that gives you a little taste of what it's like to be in space. It spins up and down and around at the same time.

It was awesome experience, lots of stuff to do. This place was great to visit while I was on vacation. It was easily found, it kept us busy for few hours and it was also very entertaining. Me and my friend enjoyed it a lot. The attractions are great. If you are around, it is definitely worth visiting. No wait in line.

This museum is very cool for children and adults alike. The history museum is very innovatively exhibited with comics and games and board games. The maths and logic is the most fun and largest time to spend.

(Translated by Google) The most famous symbol of fortress Olomouc. Although the surrounding walls were demolished a long time ago, Terezská brána has been preserved for its artistic qualities. The gate consists of a larger central passage and two lower passages for pedestrians on the sides. The rich relief decoration is especially visible on the tympanum, where the plastic war emblem of the Austrian monarchy is depicted. An interesting monument in the city center.
