I recommend to visit here on Tuesday to Friday so you can also drop by the museum next to the church. I didn’t expect a small city like Olomouc has a cathedral in this style. Personally find the architecture is more breathtaking than the interior.

The Olomouc St. Wenceslas Cathedral is well worth a visit. The beautiful and large building is situated near its museum and a lovely square, with a pretty garden next to it. The gothic structure has a beautiful interior, with an impressive collection of relics. You can also descent into the catacombs and pay respect to some earlier cardinals, bishops and archbishops.

We were surprised to find such a huge and beautiful cathedral in not so big city. We planned just tea take pictures and move next, but when we first saw it, we decided to seat on a bench next to cathedral and were looking at it about a half an hour. 100 meters tower, Czech king was killed in one of its room, and big restoration was made in 2007. So you should visit it.

We climbed the steps of the bell tower at St Maurice church, around 200 of them, to the top. The spiral staircase going up is beautiful. When you get to the top you can see the bell system and then go up another floor to see the view over the rooftops of the whole city. There are signs to explain what you are looking at and on the way down there are signs explaining the history of the church. We were the only ones up there at 2pm on a Sunday afternoon. The church ask for a donation only.

Beautiful church with a stunning interior. There are beautiful paintings inside and it was so quiet while we were there. One of the coolest things is you can climb the very ancient bell tower. I’m terrified of heights so it was a struggle but the views of Olomouc are beautiful.

The belltower climb is a bit exhausting but worthwile for the view of the city. Voluntary donation for which I would encourage people to give, as this building should be kept for the future generations.

We encountered a passionate church worker to introduce the magnificent organ to us, haha despite we didn’t understand the language. The huge touch screen panel helped a lot. We got to see the restoration process of the organ. If you are a fan of admiring organ, please visit here.

Beautiful church with a big Problem: This is one of the many beautiful catholic churches the city of Olomouc has to offer. It is open in the day time and enables a great opportunity for a silent prayer while traveling or just passing through the city. BUT: as a catholic I am ashamed that out of all places this sacred one is where you will be met with hostile architecture. In front of this beautiful church there are multiple benches. Those benches are all facing to the front door of the church. But all of those benches were adjusted to be hostile to anyone seeking a place to sleep. On the sitting space of those benches you will find randomly placed nobs. They serve no aesthetical purpose. Their only purpose is to make those benches uncomfortable for anyone who wants to sit or lay on them for more than 10 minutes. This is a shame. No bench and especially no bench that is facing a sacred church should ever be build to be hostile to the most deprived people. I obviously don't know if those benches are property of this parish or are agreed on by the church administration. BUT how can the church administration read Marcus 10:46-52 and still tolerate this hostility against homeless, disabled or elderly in front of their own church? I call out the administration of the church to exchange these benches if they are the church's property or to demand an exchange in front of the local authorities if the benches are in public hand. How can we sit in a church and listen to the gospel of Jesus taking care of the homeless and abandoned people while 2 meters in front of the church we have placed benches that are hostile to exactly those people? This has to be changed ASAP if this church wants to be serious about their faith in God and the church's teachings. May God forgive us the hostilities we commit and may God recognize our efforts to change to the better.

Great place to know the city of Olomouc is Jesuit city and baroque city. Lots of precious artifacts are exhibited. Highly recommended when you are in Olomouc. Together with ORC card, the tickets are not required. At least 90mins required for seeing everything. I spent 150 minutes there.

Big church museum that contains some of the most important paintings and items. Ground floor preserves the original castle remains and sculptures, the first floor exibits golden carriage and other religious items used in Christian ceremonies amd the second floor features many valuable paintings.

I downloaded the English audio tour before I left the hotel and paid at the palace door. The staff were very kind and there was no problem purchasing the tickets. The tour and palace are very interesting because like most European historical structures it starts from the medieval times and continues to morph and be added onto throughout the ages. In the basement, you can see the castle cellars and then it moves through the ages. My favorite item in the entire place were life size statues of Jesus and his sleeping apostles in the Garden of Gesthename. The museum does need to put arrows of where to go for each step of the audio tour. Well worth the admission fee.

Beautiful palace and cheap tour (50 ck for students). Tour was almost 1 hour long and went through 9 rooms, but the tour guide only spoke in Czech, so for those who want to learn the history of the palace, we would have to listen to an audio guide or read a few sheets of text. Having the tour guide give the tour in English--the 3rd most spoken language in the world--definitely would have improved the quality of the tour and attract more tourists, instead of catering to those who already live in the country.

Exceptional 12 course tasting! It took 3 hours to get through it, so take enough time to enjoy it. One star down for location at a busy crossroad. The atmosphere gets better after dusk when you see reflection of the restaurant in the window glass.

Definitely one of the better zoos in Czech Republic. Can spent whole day there. Food options are rather poor though, mostly fast food unfortunately.

Nice place to spend time with family. Cons, because parking is really small and you have to park the car far from the zoo.

I like this zoo a lot. Kids are always happy to see nice health animals with plenty of room to walk, sleep and play. Food in here is average, do not expect to have something really special, but its not the major thing in here :). There are plenty of playgrounds for kids, who are thrilled to play there. You can visit lookout tower in the middle of the zoo, and see the whole place from bird perspective. Kids love to visit the goat area, where you can feed and pet the goats. Its so cool and small kids love this! The zoo is well taken care of and they improve the quality of this place each year!

Fantastic zoo and was definitely worth leaving Prague for. Animal variety is extremely impressive and they are treated well by the friendly and passionate zoo staff. In contrast to many other zoos the animals are always clearly visible, while also assuring that they have the opportunity to remain unseen and undisturbed if they feel like it. There are also plenty of opportunities for getting up close with many of the animals, which can lead to some unforgettable interactions. There are also plenty of bathrooms, and kiosks where you can buy food, snacks, and dessert among other things. The zoo is also extremely well maintained and clean, making it a pleasant visiting experience. The only factor weighing down my score is the lack of credit card support in most if not all of the facilities in the zoo, which makes it important to bring cash in case you need snacks, drinks or you get hungry, while exploring the zoo.

Beautifal Zoo 7km away from the city of Olomouc. De tickets are cheap and you can spend 3 or 4 hours to see everhthing of the zoo. It is situated on In the hills and forest. When your finished it's nice to visit the Basilik church nearby the zoo. From here you will have amazing view over Olomouc. The zoo is also reached by public transport from Olomouc railway station you take the bus for 15 minutes.

Some animals have spacious areas, but there are still a lot of animals in smaller/older cages. Noisy train going around the zoo all the time, that could easily be replaced by an electric one.

Cute bar with absolutely amazing exterior ( garden ), it looks like in fairytale. A lot of different drinks , local beers, local ciders and vines. We enjoyed a lot the dishes , for reaaaaaaly cheap price they bring you huge plate. And the taste? Lovely delicious . Go and enjoy it , we will visit again as soon as possible 10/10* for Sure !

This is truly one of my favorite places in town — the atmosphere is just so unique. The quality of their products and the attentive service are a huge plus; the staff are always friendly and happy to help with any questions. Since it’s a café/bar, their extended hours make it even better. They also change the menu every single day, which is another great reason to visit often! I go there to work, meet friends, and even host group activities like journaling and it’s always a solid 10/10.

Peaceful place but TERRIBLE espresso, stick to latte drinks. I had a double espresso and it was burnt, harsh, and honestly pretty bad. It should be illegal to own a big La Marzocco machine and make coffee this bad. The cafe's terrace is nice and quiet under tea trees and very peaceful, but definitely not the place if you’re after good espresso. The brownie was okay though.

This inconspicuous independent café has the advantage of English speaking staff and some amazing chef. When I arrived after 3pm, luckily they still had daily menu. The curry, albeit gluten-free and tasty, was initially sprinkled with coriander, which I can't eat, but they quickly replaced it with a fresh portion without it. (It would have been 10 stars if they added parsleys or salad instead) But what I had least expected was the only gluten-free dessert: beetroot brownies with sour cherries. It was honestly the best brownie I'd ever had! Keep up with gluten-free options and please keep serving the blissful brownies (and of course keep the chef)! The only negative part of my experience was that there was a customer smoking indoors at one point.

We visited this restaurant for a lunch during a walk through the city. Although the entrance doesn’t appeal to you very much, the inside has a quite nice atmosphere. The food was delicious and the portions were very generous. The staff could have been more attentive, but it got quite busy during lunch.

The restaurant has a nice warm atmosphere with lots of tables and seating. The service was a bit slow but the waitress was super nice. Spoke English and Czech very well. The appetizers were large portions and the chicken tikka roll was delicious but difficult to eat without making a mess. Small Holy Hill above Olomouc. Moravia. Extraordinary baroque place with organic art of Itally masters. Worth to stay here over night in gloving gentel energy. I'm not sure what came first, the energy of this place, or the purity and holiness of the members of the local Premonstratensian convent, or the beauty of the people climbing to the sky, but it is a place where prejudices and concepts fall away and the gentle inner light of "Mary", "our lady", remains.

This place is my favorite in Olomouc. Coffee is really good as well as summer drinks. Breakfasts will suit all the different tastes. Lately I've tried tosts with salad and cappuccino. I'm not a big fan of paprika because of its smell, but this paprika salad was in honey, so it covered all the smell.

Great place to have a coffee in peace. They offer both indoor and outdoor skating and both are comfortable and have a very beautiful furniture. Outside they provide blankets so that you can sit also when it's cold. I will surely come back.

We visited as a group of 11, consisting of two families with children. The café was very busy and crowded, and unfortunately the menu options were quite limited. Surprisingly, there were no pancakes or waffles available for the kids. When we asked the waitress about alternatives, she responded rather abruptly with, “I can’t deal with this right now.” It seemed she was overwhelmed and unable to accommodate a larger family group. A real pity, as we had high hopes for the experience. Sadly, we wouldn’t recommend this place for family dining.

Building is under reconstruction from inside, so we wasn’t able to see this beauty. But outside it’s just regular church without anything what eyes can catch. Five stars only for reconstructions. Now we have the reason to come here again.

A great park for relaxing, healing and walking

A really beautiful walk around the walls of Olomouc. This is the most picturesque place surrounding the historic centre and a nice way to cut through to parts of the University outside the walls.

This is a perfect place for walking, chilling and even feeding ducks. Very good park!

Pleasant piece of nature in the city. River, trees, cycling route, all very nice. You can stop by the playground too if you have children (tho it needs some coverage from the sun).

It is like a rose heaven - full of roses and nice smell. Sometimes there are cool events too. It is a real oasis in Olomouc city center.

Huge garden with a very lax and refreshing atmosphere. Surrounded with buildings, historic and contemporary alike. I had a great time taking a walk and hanging around the garden. Definitely worth paying a visit or two.

It's a pretty park, we were there alone for about an hour, sitting on benches. Some of the roses were in full bloom and were very pretty. The view of the large park below is great too. Minutes' walk from the university on one side and from the large botanical garden on the other.

Pretty place with lots of roses. Many different kinds, everything well written. I recommend going on not that sunny day because it's really pain to survive in the heat. If you enjoy nature and roses, visit Rosarium. You can bring blanket and chill on the grass as well.

For a small town these gardens were really nice. There are different sections and it’s easy to get lost but wandering through the different parts and levels was a nice experience.

This place looks small and little square from outside;;;; but it is amazing...excellent for children offers no only one floor to visit... first you see retro from our child's life we could remember even go back to memories at that time... next floor very helpfull for school education about stones; soil and plants... next floor lovely place with various kind of animals / birds; wolvs; fishes.../ also you cam see traditional culture of old living and also some famous people close to Olomouc town.

Great museum! A little kid-orientated by I enjoyed myself thorougly. When I was there there was an ongoing rock exhibition nearby which was stunning - especially due to the nice man running the place who was very passionate.

Large collection of natural, geophysical, and historical artifacts! The infopanels in the history section were very dense in information, and paint a complete picture of the history of Olomouc and Morovia as a whole. It was very cheap, and I enjoyed myself quite a lot! Note that English was not always available.

Olomouc is a beautiful and interesting place. Anyone can find something they fancy. Perfect for a day trip or a weekend stay.

This town is a perfect choice for a holiday. But be careful you'll have to ask the restaurant if they accept credit card. There are many small restaurants they don't accept credit, be very careful, don't use ATM,, JBL charge you a lot of money. We used the ATM , we took 200 Czech crowns out of it. They charged extra costs now the same the amount. They charged 195 Czech krone. Do not use ATM, just use your card.

A magical place where old and new meet. You can definitely feel the stunning atmosphere of the old city and at the same time see lots of young people walking around. A must-see location if you're visiting in the region. The architecture is amazing, as well as the restaurants and the transport. Great location.

One of the two nice town squares of Olomouc. Good ice-cream, try poppy seed, it's very good. For the experimental ones try cucumber (no idea how that tastes). Town hall in the middle of the square, with an astronomical clock in socialist realism style. Small figures move at noon only. There is a white church behind the square where you can go up it's square tower for a view over the city.

We visited the Christmas Market in Olomouc. It was very nice there. We had a lot of delicious food, punch and sweets there. Every evening was a concert. We cached also the clock playing.

This is an amazing spot, loved our stay here, would definitely stay again. Very comfy bed, nice bathroom. The building is beautifully renovated, very stylish. Great breakfast (for about 8 eir per person) with excellent bread and really nice batch brew coffee. Very good vibes. Nice staff. About 10min walk to the main square. Would really recommend their restaurant. They have free private parking, not possible to book (we arrived at approx 17 on a friday and got a spot).

An absolute oasis of great hospitality, spacious, modern and clean facilities and friendly staff. Especially girls at breakfast. The former bakery from 1800s was restored perfectly and brought to modern 21st century standards. Loved my stay here. Little drawbacks: They don't serve decaf in any of their restaurants. Cleaning (and breakfast?) staff start making noise in the corridors as early as 5am. It woke me up. But I guess that's inevitable. They can't levitate, can they? 🤷‍♂️

Comfortable room, clean bathroom, beautiful building, excellent breakfast. The restaurant is nice too, just pricey.

A modern, shabby chic accommodation. The room I stayed in was quiet, just right for a night's sleep. Check-in can be done online beforehand, but the automated email you receive is all in Czech and you have to use a translator. When I arrived, I was told that all the beds but one were occupied in my room, but it looked like two out of six beds simply hadn't been serviced - I only had 3 x roommates on the day I stayed. It would have been nicer if I was able to sleep in one corner by the door, which was vacant but not yet ready for a new guest. The card key is needed to turn/keep the lights on. This system helps the hostel save electricity, but is not for the guests' sake. Because, when you're leaving the room and your card key is in use for the lights, obviously you have to take the card with you so one of the remaining guests in the room has to get up and insert theirs. The establishment is missing two hostel basics: communal kitchen (or I just wasn't told there is one?), fridges easily accessible for guests. It didn't appear that there was a facility to make hot drinks, really basic in cheapest hostels I've stayed before. Although the decoration is stylish and the concept is great, the business could consider the utility aspects as above if they are interested in improving customer experience.

didn’t stay at the hostel but the front desk was nice enough to show me around and give a tour before the guests arrived. i totally would come and stay if you are visiting the area. it’s a bliss to not have to stay on a bunk for a change. the simple and modern design adds a sleek flair. the courtyard even had a sauna very impressive.

I had the most amazing days there! I can say this is the BEST hostel I've stayed my whole life. I was solo tripping and I felt so good and so secure there... It was October and close to the hostel, an Oktoberfest was going on! You're gonna find some quality food here, I had an chicken pasta and omg very good. The staff was very very pacient and nice to me! The building is modern and cozy at the same time! I stayed in a 6-bed bedroom and it was very comfortable! The bathrooms are perfect too! Next time I come to Olomouc, I'm going to stay here again FOR SURE

The staff at this restaurant put a reservation slip on the table we were still using without any discussion while we were using it, and at the same time, there were still other empty seats nearby, they didn't choose to put it on the other empty seats, they just walked towards us, and when we asked the reason afterwards, we were told that we need to move out or get out when it's time to do so, which I was very angry about! Maybe we are bullied just because we are Asian faces, I think their clerks are full of discrimination! FYI: The first time they made me coffee there was hair in it.

Super nice and reliable place for students. I often can’t resist and stop here on my way from class or when studying by the library. They have student discounts and a selection of delicious snacks and drinks. They’re usually quite busy but staff is always nice.

I’ve been to Sofie’s Cafe many times and they always have fantastic service. I love the atmosphere here and they have such excellent, simple, and reasonably priced breakfasts. I never tried the coffee here, because they use long life milk and I’m a coffee snob, but everything else about this place is perfect. Can’t wait to return.

This is the place to be based on the traffic on a Saturday morning around 10.30. Stopping in for breakfast, we ordered two lattes, granola with yogurt and fruit, banana bread, and a cinnamon roll. The lattes came with beautiful latte art and I enjoyed mine. The food was just okay. The banana bread looked so moist, but it was not. It was very dry. The granola was meh. The cinnamon roll was the best thing we ate. Service was excellent and the space is beautiful with local art on the walls. Restrooms are clean! Note: There are steps to enter so it's not accessible to all.

I'm not really into coffee places, but since I came to Nacucky for the first time I fell in love with the atmosphere, the food and the most important point, the staff. The staff is awesome, always smiling (even when they have these waves of people coming one after another), I feel that they are always really concerned about your orders and If everything it is going well, I really wouldn't be able to think about any bad characteristic to point out, and that ? that it is really hard, since I'm always looking to the bad thing of life. So ? now that I read some bad reviews, just make me think that is just people with a bad day (or intentions) just to put down a beautiful place with amazing food and wonderful staff. I would really recommend this place to all my friends and family, but sadly they are living in another continent, so I would just leave this humble review of this place and I hope more people had the chance to come as soon as possible. best regards, JAB

Spacious, but cozy place in the historical centre of Olomouc. We loved the option to order brunch menu including not only main dish (breakfast), but also juice, batch brew and small dessert to finish. Wide variety of savoury and sweet treats, dishes taken from grandma's cupboard, artwork hanging on walls leading to toilet, chatty lady from theatre located in the same building (we even took a few leaflets with programme to distribute in our city). A place worth visiting.

they offer pea milk as a plant-based alternative which is super rare in Olomouc, but not a fan of the interior of the café. It just seems kinda old (in a bad way). The staff is really nice tho.

Amazing bistro in Olomouc. For me, it's the best place to go for lunch in the city. While you'll find many typical canteen-style dishes on the menu, they taste nothing like the meals you remember from your school cafeteria. This is next-level canteen food! The prices are very ok! And the staff has always been incredibly friendly whenever I visit.

If you are a coffee lover this is your place! Consistently excellent espresso-based coffees and one of the few cafes in the area that uses FRESH milk (čerstvé mléko) rather than long life milk 🤮 The service is always good and the fresh waffles are delicious! On top of that, this cafe is located on the ground floor of a beautiful old villa at the top of the medieval city wall. In the warmer months it is lovely to sit outside and enjoy the view over Bezručovy Sady (the park around the city wall with a beautiful creek running through it). But mostly come here for the coffee 😊

Today we had a lovely lunch in a relaxed and beautiful atmosphere! The chorizo was delightful,the 90 days dried aged rib eye with the potato purée with bone marrow lovely as well as the veal schnitzel and both deserts, not to mention the excellent Bio Montepulciano wine ,however the highlight of the day was the service done buy a lovely gentleman on the terrace , a special mention for the home baked sourdough bread with the almond,garlic butter spread . Simply amazing Bravo to the whole team, kitchen&service 👏👏

My wife and I really enjoyed this place. The menu is not particularly rich, but it is very well thought, and it has some innovative takes to traditional menu items. I think is my favorite restaurant in Olomouc. Great atmosphere, very minimal design and great service. The restaurant is surrounded by beautiful garden, I wish they were bigger windows so you can see more of the view. As food we had, starter a selection of cheese and meat with their own homemade bread, butter and some spread. Their butter is amazing tasty. Highly recommend. As main course we choose veal schnitzel and pork food with pineapple and veggies and lot of colander. The food was lovely cooked, delicious and everything was looking great! As dessert we choose one cake with pumpkin yogurt and orange, and one cheesecake with mango. The cake with pumpkin it was interesting combination, I like it but the mango cheesecake was nothing special. They need to improve their pastry. It total I liked the experience to eat there and enjoy a calm atmosphere. If you go to Olomouc is highly recommend!

Amazing location for lunch and probably also dinner. The food was absolutely wonderful, and I would visit again. The price is a bit higher than the rest of the city, but you get a higher standard in return. So fair pricing. The staff was very friendly overall and the service quick. Most also spoke English. And they even had a hedgehog in the garden! Seems like a fairytale locations for weddings too. One older lady was very rude though, both the us and the staff. Try not to bark at your colleagues, try laughing a bit more and talk to your guests or at least recognize them when they talk to you. When she looked at me and I mention something, she just looked up and walked away. Maybe she doesn’t speak English, but this is plain rude. Nonetheless, I will not include it in the review, because the younger girls were absolutely amazing and compensated for this. So great visit, will absolutely come again!

One of the best Baroque Columns in Europe but sadly it is under construction as of August 2024. You may want Google some information when the estimate finush time would be before visiting. I came down to Olomouc for this Column but looks like I will go home with stinky cheese instead, haha 😄 Baroque monument (Trinity column) that was built between 1716 and 1754. The main purpose was to celebrate the Catholic Church and faith, partly caused by feeling of gratitude for ending a plague, which struck Moravia (now in the Czech Republic) between 1713 and 1715.[1]: 18  The column was also understood to be an expression of local patriotism, since all artists and master craftsmen working on this monument were Olomouc citizens, and almost all depicted saints were connected with the city of Olomouc in some way

A fine piece of Baroque architecture. I wish I could have stayed longer to check also its details.
