The Noordbrabants Museum is a contemporary museum that showcases a diverse collection of objects related to regional and international history, culture, and art. Established since 1836, the museum houses approximately 30,000 individual items including paintings by Vincent van Gogh and silverware from the 17th century. In addition to its permanent collection, the museum hosts temporary exhibitions featuring work by contemporary artists.
There is a temporary exhibition called “Landscape of the fall”, by Abdelkader Benchamma. Very beautiful art with creative ideas using lines, and very intelligent idea using the huge space on the wall linking to old paintings from Hieronymus Bosch and Pieter Bruegel. By this exhibition itself it is already worthwhile to visit. The museum has other long term exhibitions that are also Interesting. One room specially for Van Gogh. I also like some of the still life oil paintings. The historical parts are also interesting, although we ran out of time to observe the details. I am impressed that there were bronze swords from 1800 BC found in north Brabant area.

The Noordbrabants Museum is a really cool place to visit. I love how they mix traditional art with more modern and unexpected historical pieces. One of the things that stood out to me was seeing items that were part of everyday life not too long ago but are now considered history—like the first Apple computer. It’s fascinating to see how things evolve over time. The museum also has an impressive collection of paintings, including works by Van Gogh, Picasso, and other great artists. Walking through the galleries, I felt like I was experiencing both classic masterpieces and surprising bits of modern history all in one place. It’s definitely a museum worth visiting!
Patricia B — Google review
A beautiful Dutch museum. There is a hall telling the history of the museum, some historic work and a lot of modern works. There was also a performance in the museum when I visited it. I enjoyed the visit a lot. Thanks a lot to the very friendly people working there.
Irina I — Google review
Excellent museum, and a must-go-to if one is in Den Bosch. They have special exhibits every month or so, which I don’t usually care for; but the permanent collection is incredible and alone a reason to visit. The building is beautiful; it is like an old mansion, with gorgeous rooms to hold the still more gorgeous art. One could spend hours here. There is a cafe as well, which has delicious donuts from the famous Jan de Groot cafe. Eating them here has the added bonus that one does not need to spend ages waiting in line for the Jan de Groot cafe. Please be aware that service can be slow. But who goes to an art museum who is in a hurry! I highly recommend this gem of a museum. It is well worth the admission fee.

This is one of the best museums I've been to in the Netherlands. The experience of the journey it takes you through stays with you for days after your visit! I strongly reccomend the The Verhaal van Noord Brabant section 😌

Nice museum close to the StJans cathedral. The museum is located in a nice building. The standard exhibition has works from 1500-1950. Nice collection of works of Van Gogh. We visited the special exhibition: Brueghel the family reunion - Five generations under one roof.

The Jheronimus Bosch Art Center in Den Bosch, The Netherlands, offers a unique opportunity to delve into the world of the famous medieval painter Hieronymus Bosch. Born and raised in Den Bosch, he is celebrated as the city's most famous son. The center showcases life-size reproductions of all his paintings and blow-ups of his diabolic creatures, providing an immersive experience into his dark and enigmatic works.
This new museum dedicated to Jeroen Bosch is great. You can go all the way to the top of the rotunda by elevator or stairs and see for miles around. Many displays and exact replicas of his art work. Plenty of space to move around. Nice restrooms. Gift shop with reasonable prices for unique items. No food/drink for sale.
Roger C — Google review
This museum is full of surprises. I enjoyed the modern approach on Jheronimus Bosch's artworks and the guide book helped me understand his work better. Staff provides the needed information in a professional, helpful and friendly manner. Take all the time you need, warm clothes (because it's really cold inside) and some friends and enjoy the astronomical clock presentation, as well. 😊
Andreea G — Google review
I was fascinated of Bosch’s work and really enjoyed visiting this art center. They also had some funny trippy movies and huge crazy clock with “animation”
Zhanna — Google review
Extraordinary art experience! Before visiting the museum I didn't know much about the work of Jheronimus Bosch and I was completely blown away by what I saw. The exhibited works are reproductions, but this does not diminish the artistic experience. By entering the museum, you enter a fantastic world that inspires artists to this day. In addition to the work of Jheronimous Bosch, there are also paintings by artists inspired by his work. Also, the world in which the artist created in a very convincing way was revived in the basement of the church. Gallery it self is former Neo-Gothic church where sacred meets surreal. The high ceilings and stained-glass windows set the stage for a journey not just through art, but into Bosch's imagination.  Climb the bell tower for a panoramic view of the town Bosch once walked—unchanged in many ways since his time. Tickets can be purchased at the entrance and cost €12 per person. It is paid exclusively by cards. The ticket comes with a brochure which is very helpful to experience the exhibited works. There is also a guide in the gallery who occasionally explains about individual exhibits.
Zoran J — Google review
Small interesting museum of Bosch's work and work of people inspired by him in a church. Great view from the fifth floor, also has an elevator.
Branimir H — Google review
What a great museum...the location in a church gives it an extra dimension. You can take the elevator to the rooftop for a great view over the city as well...The paper guide book they give you at the entrance is very interesting too to understand better the artwork! Not to miss....
Griet V — Google review
Nice large guide book provided in Dutch and English. The paintings are reproductions but overall good quality. You can take the elevator to the top of the tower for a panoramic look at the city, although there are windows preventing you from going on the balcony and they were a little bit dirty so that would affect photographs. Gift shop has a wide variety of souvenirs but the t-shirts at $50 is crazy
Toren A — Google review

Church
St. John's Cathedral, located in the heart of Den Bosch, is a magnificent example of Brabant Gothic architecture dating back to the 14th century. This massive cathedral features a soaring 73-meter-tall spire and is renowned as one of the most complete examples of Gothic architecture in the Netherlands. The intricate details adorning its walls include medieval artifacts as well as modern additions like a stone angel statue holding a mobile phone.
It’s one of the most beautiful cathedrals I’ve visit so far. From the front, you can’t really see it’s beauty and the gothic architecture. So I recommend to take a walk around the church to see its real potential haha :) and the beautiful architecture and paintings from inside, are just breathtaking. I visited the church on monday, it wasn’t crowded. The entrance is completely free, and there was an art gallery inside.
Trrixy 1 — Google review
Beautiful cathedral! Lovely to walk around in. The staff was a bit dismissive when we asked about the grave of Hieronymus Bosch. They don’t know where he was buried but he was carried out of the church after his funeral, for which there is a stone to commemorate in one of the doorways.
Evelynne — Google review
Very beautiful inside and outside. You get a spiritual feeling when going through the inside of the Cathedral. Its just magnificent, you just have to experience it yourself
Patricia J — Google review
The enormous St John's Cathedral was stunning outside and beautiful inside. As always, learning the history and focusing in on all or the intricate details is amazing.

Design Museum Den Bosch, located in Den Bosch, Netherlands, is a must-visit for those interested in the influence of design on everyday life. The museum offers an international collection of ceramics and jewelry and hosts guided tours and workshops. With ever-changing exhibitions, visitors can explore the cultural significance of design from the past to the future. The museum's architecture stands out against typical Dutch houses and it is known for its large selection of modern artworks as well as a renowned jewelry collection.
Very nicely organised museum of Design, super friendly staff 🌟

The main exhibition on design and climate was interesting and well thought out. The second one (Supreme) a bit less interesting to me. I really like that they showcase local design too and that some smaller exhibitions are accessible for free. The Soft Spaces exhibition on drag was touching. Overall the ticket price can be expensive if you want to go back regularly to see the new paid exhibitions though.
Alex B — Google review
Fairly okay ish collection, many parts are at the moment under renovation.
Dibyojeet B — Google review
Definitely not worth the money, for 13.5e per person you don't get much, I think it's overpriced. Half of the museum was about Supreme exhibition that you can see if you just literally visit the Supreme store. The other half was fine, but definitely not for that money. Maybe we're just not the target audience. We went there based on the reviews, honestly just save your money. Also, lots of the pictures on here are probably from some previous exhibitions, so we didn't see anything interesting.
Tijana B — Google review
Had a very fun visit at the museum, went for 'mapping modernity' but enjoyed the other exhibition as well. Mapping modernity was an interesting and educational exhibition. Particularly liked that they had printed the information booklet in an old-fashioned map like format. While the exhibition is only large enough for one large room it took us almost two hours to have a thorough look around and hadn't yet seen everything. Probably less interesting for young kids, though there is an activity for children set up at the start of the exhibition.
Ellen R — Google review
We visited the museum because we were attracted by the indications at the entrance about the "Faster, better, more beautiful – the design of progress". The display is about a fascinating collection of objects designed under the influence of the "need for speed" that has influenced the umanity from the beginning. The items from '30 to '50 are stunning but naif. It is possible to observe the evolution of the shapes proposed and the influence of the simulation technologies to derive more sophisticated shapes. it is possible to take photo inside. on the ground level there is also an expositions of objects connected with human body: protesis, gadgets and surprising technology interacting with your body Amazing
Luca L — Google review
streamline design theme at museum shows how designers have innovated over last hundred years to make machines not only faster, efficient and better but also stunning in looks. Museum highlights through various examples how learning from nature has went into making these design improvements. With workshops and active learning exercises, a perfect place to visit for young and adults.

Banketbakkerij Jan de Groot is a long-standing, family-owned bakery renowned for its signature creation, the Bossche bol. Located just a short walk from the train station in Den Bosch, this iconic establishment has gained widespread acclaim for its delectable pastries. The Bossche bol itself is a generous profiterole filled with luscious whipped cream and coated in decadent chocolate—a regional delicacy that has garnered popularity among both locals and visitors.
I went there at a pastry shop in Den Bosch yesterday on a friend’s recommendation and tried the Bossche Bollen. Coming from Cambodia, this was my first time trying this Dutch snack, and it didn’t disappoint! The chocolate shell was fresh and paired perfectly with the creamy filling inside definitely one of my new favorite Dutch snack. The shop is conveniently located close to the railway station, and the prices are affordable. BUT: we need get there early, as it will be crowded and may be a bit long to wait.
Rith P — Google review
Every time we go to Den Bosch, we *must* stop here. One time they were closed, and I said to my boyfriend, "There are a ton of Bossche bol places, we can just try another one," and he replied that I was out of my mind— Jan de Groot is the only one worth eating. When we take friends to Den Bosch, we always make it a point to introduce them to this place. Super quality, decent price, and a very lekker treat!
Esther S — Google review
This is the place everyone recommended for Bossche Bollen, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. We had tried them at a few other spots in Den Bosch, but nothing came close to the quality here. The chocolate is rich, the cream perfectly light, and the pastry just right — truly next level. Yes, there’s always a line — but it moves fast, and it’s 100% worth the wait. When something is this good, people know. If you’re in Den Bosch, don’t miss this place!
Li N — Google review
One of the iconic Bossche Ball here in NL. Glad that I got it from their original shop here in Den Bosch. Busy place but they served the best one! Location is also 3 mins walking distance from the NS train station
Yasintha T — Google review
Almost a 100 years family bakery! The Bosch balls are really special and delicious. The thickness of the chocolate layer is perfect! ( most of the time, the supermarkets or other bakeries’ Bosch balls are with too thick layer and too sweet). The prices are also reasonable. It’s a nice experience to sit inside to taste their Bosch balls with a cup of tea/coffee. I also bought several Bosch balls afterwards to enjoy at home. The only bad experience is one of the young lady at the store, she was a bit rude and unfriendly. Otherwise I’d for sure give it a 5 stars.
Ruth W — Google review
The stoplight to indicate whether there is space to sit or not is a cute touch. I recommend going upstairs to eat if there is space because it is very pretty up there. The chicken panini was really good. Flavourful and juicy, simple yet tastes great. The bossche bol was the highlight of the visit of course, very light with the cream and the dark chocolate covering was the right amount of sweetness. We went around lunch time on Sunday and wasn't too busy, we waited maybe 10 minutes max but the queue goes quick enough.
Isabella A — Google review
One stop pastry shop for me! Famous for their boschebol, but please consider when buying the xxl boschebol; it is sized 3x bigger! Other than the boschebol, got cherry pastry. I love the cherry pastry so much that i eat it in one sitting. Would recommend to visit your friends and family with some pastries takeaways from here!
Adinda — Google review
Great dessert! Thanks to one of my dearest friends, who was born in s’Hertogenbosch, I found out about the famous dessert with chocolate and cream inside. It was a great choice, that sweetened the rainy weather. I recommend to everyone who searches for a great walk in a silent and airy place to visit this city and to try this famous dessert! ❤️

Hiking area
Bossche Broek is a stunning nature reserve located right on the edge of the city. It mainly consists of grasslands and is a popular spot for cycling and hiking. What's surprising is that you can simply cross the street from the city center and find yourself surrounded by nature. The area near the city gives off a countryside vibe, perfect for picnics, walking, or jogging. Additionally, it serves as a water storage facility when water levels rise too high.
Nice bit of nature right outside the city. You can walk right along the city moat and see the city wall. There is also a fun little pull raft to get across the moat.

Binnendieze is an underground canal network in the old city of Den Bosch, originally a river called Dommel. Over time, buildings and roads were constructed over it due to lack of space. Today, visitors can take boat trips on this hidden river to explore the historical heart of Den Bosch and discover its most secluded spots. The century-old system offers a unique way to see various monuments, ancient and modern buildings, as well as the city's fortifications.

(Translated by Google) It was another pleasant, relaxing boat trip in a stable boat. The vaults have been cleaned up considerably compared to more than 10 years ago, at the expense of the greenery. Too bad, but apparently necessary. Furthermore, the boatswain/guide was fairly easy to understand, but I would have preferred to sit at the back instead of at the front because of better speech understanding. (Translated by Google) The Binnendieze is rightly one of the historical attractions of Amsterdam 's - Hertogenbosch . The Binnendieze is the collective name for the age-old system of all watercourses within the walls of the city. From April to October you can discover the waterways with a whisper boat (a characteristic open boat). The Binnendieze used to flow behind the houses. The current shape of the city, the streets and the narrow houses that border the water at the back, is therefore unique. Ships transported their goods over the narrow watercourses, the iron and cloth industry used the water in the production process. The Binnendieze not only provided drinking water for the citizens, the stream was also used as a sewer. There is a bronze plaque in tribute at the starting point at the Voldersgat Jan van der Eerden and Hein Bergé, they have made an important contribution to the preservation of the Binnendieze. Departure points: Molenstraat or from the Voldersgat. Tickets can be purchased in advance at VVV visit den Bosch. Historical landmark
De Moriaan, also known as the Tourist Information Centre, is a must-visit in 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands. This historic building dates back to 1220 and is recognized as the oldest brick house in the country. Its fascinating architecture and rich history are showcased at the VVV museum located on its ground floor. Situated near St. John's Cathedral and the monumental town hall on Markt, De Moriaan offers a glimpse into medieval Dutch architecture and heritage.
Kinda old... ;)
Tony F — Google review
(Translated by Google) According to tradition, this large "hall house" was built by order of Duke Henry I for his friend Beckerlijn, as a residence in the 13th century. It is considered one of the oldest brick houses in the Netherlands. The building was inhabited by important families from Den Bosch. During the period of the iconoclasm (1566), the Protestants used De Moriaan as a meeting room. In the 17th century it served as "playhouses" where theater companies performed. Later the building was used, among other things, for storage retail space used. In 1956 it was scheduled for demolition. Actions prevented this and in 1963 a large-scale restoration/reconstruction followed that brought the building to a state as it would have looked. It has housed the local tourist office since 2020.

(Translated by Google) Since 1483, it has been the home of the illustrious Brotherhood of Our Lady, an ecumenical society founded in Den Bosch in 1318. The members are also called Called "Swan Brothers". The brotherhood originated in the 14th century, when a group of religious in Den Bosch was concerned with the veneration of Mary and the care of the poor. Over time, the brotherhood became increasingly wealthy. At the 500th anniversary of the brotherhood in 1818, the future King William II was asked to join. After this first Royal Swan brother, more will follow: now King Willem-Alexander, Princess Beatrix and Princess Irene also bear this title. Where does the special name come from? Apparently lavish meals were consumed in the past. A true delicacy was swan meat. Thus, "Swan Brother" became an honorary title for influential people from high circles. This was by far the best food and dining experience we had on our ten day trip in the Netherlands. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The vegetarian tapas that we had was inventive and delicious. We ate inside, and the ambiance was welcoming and lively. It was such a great experience that after a wonderful dinner, we returned the following day for lunch—two creative and artistically presented and delicious sandwiches. Definitely not to be missed when in Den Bosch.

I’m really disappointed with my recent experience at this café. We were a small group of three, and two of us had planned a surprise birthday treat for my sister. We ordered several dishes and the total bill came to €52.90, so we were not just sitting there with a single drink or small order. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as smoothly as we hoped. One of the waitresses took our order down correctly, but somehow the wrong food was prepared and served. We politely explained the issue, and although she acknowledged the mistake. We decided not to make a fuss and accepted the food to avoid waste and keep the mood light for the celebration. The biggest disappointment came later. Near the end of our meal, one of us brought out two small slices of cake for my sister’s birthday. A male staff member came over, quite abruptly told us that outside food is not allowed, handed us the bill, and asked us to leave. That is really rude. I personally never saw any signs or there was no prior notice or mention of this rule when we arrived or ordered. His approach really rude and upset me, especially since we were paying customers and had ordered a full meal. I was genuinely upset by how the situation was handled. This was meant to be a special occasion, and while the food was okay, the service and overall experience left us with a bad impression. We chose to leave quietly and continue our celebration elsewhere rather than escalate things. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and considers training staff to handle such situations more politely and professionally.

Crickets on email, chatter on the phone — not quite seamless, but at least there was a response once I picked up the receiver. In a world where too many places ignore written enquiries altogether, a spoken answer still counts for something. The communication was brief and functional rather than warm, yet it showed they were reachable and willing to engage. Four stars feels fair: not perfection, but certainly competent enough to leave a respectable impression.

A place of great peace and beauty. At the end of the visit there is a free coffee, the attendant even offered me a typical bread from the region, they are very attentive to the visitor. This museum is really worth seeing.

If you want to take a break they will treat coffee and dutch spice cake for free. (you may leave some tip of course) Plus they make temporary exhibitions there! It was an amazing experience. Thank you ❤️

A very handy location for some tasty food and drinks. Just a very short walk from the mainline station, and you can relax in a nice warm location. I like that there are signs to discourage people from setting up with their laptops and sitting there all day taking up seats too!

Matcha latte was lukewarm despite specifically asking for “extra” hot and the apples in the apple cake were soggy to the point where it seeped into the pastry making it seem raw. Not an appetising experience.

All people from the staff were absolutely adorable. I could get in with my dog and they gave her a bit of water. The drink I had was super nice and even though we were getting closer to the closing time we had zero pressure put on us. I would happily go again or recommend the place to a friend :)

Hearty food for a great price, and so conveniently located next to the train station in town! We got the hungover breakfast (around Festival 😄) and the mint tea! Such a yummy and filling breakfast, in a very cute and cozy spot. Plenty of ample seating too, and a water station for customers too!

Tasty food with tasty drinks, few steps away from the central station. It was a nice experience. So many people come there to work on their computer, I guess it made me personally feel a bit uncomfortable, but place is good. But if you are searching for a place to work on your laptop and have yummy lunch & coffee- this is your place to go!

Absolutely outstanding experience at Coffeelab Den Bosch! Not only did we enjoy two fantastic coffees and an oven-fresh croissant (highly recommended!), but the staff went far beyond our expectations. We accidentally left a bag of dirty laundry behind, and they managed to send it all the way to the south of Belgium for us—within just two days! Super friendly, incredibly helpful, and genuinely caring. Can’t recommend this place enough, both for the quality and the people. Five stars!

Nestled just outside the bustling center of Den Bosch, BUURT is a charming neighborhood café that embodies the essence of community. This inviting spot is perfect for savoring an exceptional cup of coffee while working on your laptop or catching up with friends over lunch. Whether you're in the mood to read the newspaper, enjoy a drink, or indulge in delicious wines and various beers, BUURT has something for everyone.
Nice large terrace that is in full sun on a summer Sunday evening. Some tasty vegan and vegetarian options available as well. An interesting loaded hummus with soft and fluffy bread and pickled onions. And a yellow beetroot salad that can be ordered as a main dish. The beetroot was soft and subtle. Mostly greens and walnuts in the bowl but tasty nonetheless. And a good beer collection including the non alcoholic Texelse Skuumkoppe 0.0. Sweet little neighborhood cafe at the end of a pretty street along the water. Very friendly people as well.

They greet you with a smile and are very friendly. Very good English (especially good for us who can't understand Dutch). The food is very tasty. They are open all day, so they do breakfast, lunch and dinner. I ordered the Katsu sandwich and Lemonade with rose, cardamom, pear and apple, both delicious.

Restaurant Buurt offers delicious food for a fair price. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is well designed. Something to improve on is the amount of vegetarian dishes to choose from. There were not that many options.

I love this kind of place. But this Buurt is such nice. The location perfect not in the middle of the downtown but not too far from the centrum. Parking not cheap but have lot of place close the restaurant. Need lucky if you come on rush hours. We were lucky. The menu rich with delicious foods. We ate salads. Was a California salad and a Cesar salad. My Cesar salad was rich from cheese exactly how I like. My wife salad was a bit salty but she is more sensitive. All together the food the service was enjoyable. Small nice music in the background.

I ordered quesadilla with tuna, matcha and Irish coffee. I really liked quesadilla and matcha was good, but Irish coffee... To put it mildly, it was really bad, I was disappointed by that. But in general it was good experience (If we forget about coffee))

Cozy place ideal for breakfast or brunch, although they have also dinner options. I ordered an açai bowl and my friend a quesadilla. Mine was quite good and healthy, hers was a bit more middle of the road, and was served with chips, a weird choice. My biggest complain about the place would be the portion sizes, as I believe they're too small for the price they ask. Otherwise the place is comfy and the waiters were all quite nice to us, and efficient bringing the food.

Sent an email — received no reply at all. Communication was entirely one-sided, which is disappointing for any business that relies on customer contact. Even a brief acknowledgment would have shown basic courtesy, yet nothing came. For a place that trades on hospitality and attention to detail, this lack of response leaves a poor impression. Two stars.

Heeswijk Castle, located in the Brabant region of the Netherlands, is a restored 11th-century fortress with a rich history. It also serves as a museum showcasing 19th-century life and offers guided tours and an event program. The castle holds historical significance as it was the landing site for paratroopers during Operation Market-Garden in 1944, which played a crucial role in liberating this part of the Netherlands from occupation.
Neat castle. Lots of history. A little English book for one euro and we walked around all the Dutch tours, cause we couldn’t understand them. I love the funny statues out in the garden. And you can also sit next-door and have a drink or snacks if you’re hungry.

The castle was very nice and the audio guide you can use through your phone by scanning the QR codes in the castle is very informative and makes the visit pleasant. The cafe at the entrance of the castle was a nice way to end the visit. The only thing I did not like was the fact that the museum card was not recognized although the castle was included with it. So I had to pay the ticket entrance. It seems they often have this problem unless you reserve your ticket online.
Gabriele — Google review
The castle is located amidst fields and wilderness. Ideal for a bicycle ride or a walk. You have to take rather a longer route to enter but the surrounding is greenish and very pleasing. The castle had a war re-enactment when we visited. It was a great experience for all the visitors. Inside the castle, you will find guides but you can also be supported by the audio guide. I think the castle also accommodate functions like weddings, etc. At the entrance , there is a nice restaurant that serves delicious foods. Not a huge variety but the foods and drinks are very tasty and comparatively cheap. Overall, it is a very enjoyable experience !

The Dragon Fountain in 's-Hertogenbosch is a stunning sight to behold. This gold-plated dragon statue was erected in 1903 as a tribute to the governor's family and is illuminated at night, adding to its allure. The nickname 'Swamp Dragon' for the city inspired this unique creation, making it a must-see attraction when visiting the beautiful city of 's-Hertogenbosch.
Iconic and uncommon fountain which is a nod to the nickname of den Bosch and an homage to the family who paid to build the fountain.
Alex B — Google review
The Dragon (Draken) Fountain in Den Bosch (’s‑Hertogenbosch), unveiled in 1903, is much more than a decorative landmark—it’s a memorial, a symbol of urban growth, and a nod to local identity. Who built it & why Paulus Jan Bosch van Drakestein (1825–1894), the Commissaris der Koningin (Queen’s Commissioner) of North Brabant, left a legacy of 10,000 guilders to the city upon his death. The funds were designated to build a fountain as a memorial to his twin daughters (who died aged 16 in November 1881) and his wife (who died three years later)  . It was also intended as a public drinking fountain, though in practice it never fulfilled that function  . Design & construction Following a public competition, the winning design by the Leeuw brothers of Nijmegen was ultimately rejected by city architect J. Dony for being “too modern”  . Instead, Jules (J.) Dony was commissioned in 1903 to create the current design. It features a gold-plated dragon at the top, with four smaller black dragons spouting water at the base, plus two water-spouting fish heads  . The sculpture work was done by Jac and Jos Goossens, with metal detailing by Braat of Delft and stonework by **Graudemans & Zn.**  . Meaning & symbolism The dragon motif connects to Paulus’ surname “van Drakestein” (“dragon‑stone”)—the gilded dragon even holds the family crest with the motto virtute et labore (“by virtue and labour”)  . Another layer of meaning: Den Bosch was historically called the “Moerasdraak” (“swamp dragon”), because its marshy surroundings acted as a natural defensive moat  . Context & urban significance The fountain was part of a major urban expansion in the new neighbourhood “’t Zand” following the dismantling of the old city ramparts after 1874  . Positioned in front of the new train station, it formed a grand gateway monument, welcoming visitors and symbolizing modern progress  . Restoration & legacy It survived WWII intact, despite nearby destruction  . Structural decay led to the golden dragon toppling off its plinth in 2000—since then it’s been restored and reinforced, with further conservation work continuing into 2021  . Today, the Drakenfontein is recognized as a protected **rijksmonument (national heritage site)**  . Interesting details Copper relief panel Depicts an allegorical scene of a woman and two girls (likely representing his daughters), one giving alms to a poor woman, with the motto charitate nitent (“they shone by charity”)  . Memorial & water sourceOriginally had a secondary drinking fountain which is now gone . Local pride Locals affectionately call it “D’n Draok” and even dress it in carnival scarves during festivals . Engineering feat Sculpture done in harsh winter conditions—artisans reportedly warmed their chisels by fire to prevent them from freezing to their hands . In summary The Drakenfontein is both a touching tribute to a grieving father’s family, and a celebration of a city’s transformation—melding personal grief, civic pride, and identity tied to both name and landscape. Next time you're in Den Bosch, don’t miss this golden sentinel welcoming you at the station!

Beautiful fountain right in front of the station! The golden dragon is so eye-catching and really impressive. I didn’t know the story behind it at first, but after reading about it, I appreciated it even more. It’s a great spot to start your visit to Den Bosch, and perfect for a photo. At night, when it’s lit up, it looks even more magical. Definitely worth a short stop!

The last thing I expected after stepping off the train was a golden dragon statue surrounded by a dragon fountain. Cool! And hot. 😆
Mike P — Google review
Besutiful dragon fountain. The dragon in the top is gold plated and was built in 1903 to conmemorate the two twin daughters and wife of the former governor Bosch van Drakestein who funded the statue by a vequest wne he died in 1894. The dragon might have been chosen due to the surname of the governor (drask = dragon in dutch). Statue is illuminated at night.

A huge variety of hot sauces!! (The best ones are in the picture). The food and service is excellent!! I would recommend the du chua salad 10/10!! The flavor is a perfect addition for a main meal like the thai curry soup or even the laos lamb. The corn ribs are good but are missing a sauce. Finally, the dessert is very good!! 10/10

Small terras, large cafe and cocktail bar area. Great combination of small dishes which one can combine to any fusion kitchen one likes. The curly fries are perfect. The Indian curry eggs very tasty. I tried the veggy dumplings with pumpkin and cashew. My youngest daughter liked the smashed meat burger. The vegetarian surprise menu was great and enough to share among the family. We could try all vegetarian choices from the menu. Some good vegan options as well, by the way. The mango ice-cream was good and fresh. Selection of beers original, from Oedipus to traditional German weizen. Staff very friendly and good service. With a surprise menu one needs sufficient time for the three rounds. Just one or two small dishes is faster, but may nog be enough for good eaters. We enjoyed the evening.

One does not expect miracles, but one does expect a basic reply. A short line, even a polite refusal, would have sufficed. Instead, silence — and that speaks volumes. In these times, when many of us from Ukraine are already navigating uncertainty and displacement, such indifference feels unnecessarily cold. A pity really, as the name ‘Hello My Friend’ suggests warmth and welcome, yet the reality proved rather the opposite.

Had to ring them as email went unanswered. Dropped them a courteous email — silence. Only once I picked up the phone did I finally get answers. Not exactly the hallmark of attentive service. For a restaurant, one expects a touch more care in how guests are treated, whether in person or in writing. Three stars feels the fair measure. And in times when clear communication can mean everything — as those of us from Ukraine know too well — leaving people unanswered is hardly a good look

Nestled in the heart of historic Den Bosch, Stadhuis 's-Hertogenbosch stands as a stunning example of medieval architecture. While its exterior may appear somewhat austere compared to the vibrant buildings surrounding it, this town hall is steeped in history and charm. (Translated by Google) From 1366 onwards the city council has been seated at this location on the Markt. At that time it was still in a purchased older hall house that can still be recognized in the 3D reconstruction below in the middle part with the stepped gable. In 1481, the left part, the former city inn 'De Gaffel', was purchased for expansion and provided with an elegant screen facade with arch turrets. Around 1530 there was a major renovation, which included the addition of the cross vaults of the council cellar, the ornate facade (platform) and wrought iron decorations to the facade. It was not until 1599 that the right part was purchased and provided with a new, matching facade. The 3D reconstruction shows the final appearance of the town hall at the end of the sixteenth century. The current natural stone facade was built in 1670, in front of the existing buildings. During this major renovation, the shell of the middle house remained completely intact, so that the three-way division has been preserved to this day. In 1563, a new clerk's house was built in the backyard. The first floor was used as an alderman's room and later as a wedding hall. During the major renovation of the town hall in 1670, the classic sandstone facade was built according to a design by Pieter van den Minne with additions by Peter van Gogh. At the back of the town hall, a gallery was built between the clerk's office and the town hall in 1691, according to a design by court architect Jacob Roman. The town hall has a rich interior from different periods: 17th-century gold leather wallpaper, tapestries, 18th-century mantelpieces, etc. In the hall you will find allegorical murals by Antoon Derkinderen.

Unfortunately closed when we were there, so we couldn't take a look inside. Apparently it is very beautiful and worth a visit. At the top of the tower, a carillion plays a tune every 15 minutes, and then keep the turntable in the tower in your sights. (Translated by Google) The building dates from the second half of the 14th century. In 1372, the oldest bell in the Netherlands was installed. It is assumed that the installation of this bell marked the completion of construction. In 1463, a large part of the town hall burned down, requiring renovations. This renovation was completed in 1533. After the siege of 's-Hertogenbosch in 1623, the Spanish-leaning city was occupied by troops of the Protestant Republic of the Seven United Netherlands. The town hall was subsequently given a new appearance intended to reflect the power of the province of Holland, the most important force within the Republic. After 1670, the town hall underwent many renovations. The Gothic style gave way to its current Classical appearance. The bells in the tower echo across the market square, and the equestrian display, featuring four knights in armor charging into battle with lances, is accompanied by two mounted trumpeters. This spectacle takes place every hour and half hour. The town hall is the focal point of the carnival, and from its platform overlooking the market square, many a royal figure and newlyweds have waved to the crowds.

Bridge
The Paleisbrug is a stunning architectural gem in Den Bosch, seamlessly connecting the historic city center with the modern Spoorzone district. Spanning 250 meters and adorned with lush greenery, this pedestrian bridge offers an elevated park experience that allows visitors to enjoy breathtaking views of the cityscape—all for free! As you stroll along its wide pathways, you'll find benches perfect for resting and soaking in the atmosphere.
Great view and nicely done. Just another nice place to visit in Den Bosch! Good place to wander around and jump from the old town to the new and metropolitan part of the city.

Very nice view and the bridge has plants on it which make it quite a nice walk. Sadly the lift in the end is broken so people with mobility issues can no longer use it.

When visiting Den Bosch, definitively make a visit to this bridge over the train tracks. It’s the closest you get to the High Line (NYC) in The Netherlands. ;)

(Translated by Google) The Paleisbrug is a beautifully designed bridge over the railway that connects the 'Het Paleiskwartier' district and the center of Den Bosch. The bridge is nicely decorated; industrial with lots of greenery. There are several benches and waste bins on the bridge and it has lifts for disabled people on both sides. I think the downside is that this elevator is broken more often than it works, which is a shame. This bridge is a great spotting spot for train enthusiasts. You see the trains departing from the station or arriving from Tilburg or Eindhoven.

The Paleisbrug connects the Paleiskwartier with the city center in an efficient manner. It's a great route for cyclists and pedestrians, and it saves time because you don't have to take a detour. Nestled about 6 kilometers southwest of Den Bosch, the Nationaal Monument Kamp Vught stands as a solemn reminder of the atrocities committed during World War II. This site was once an SS concentration camp from 1943 to 1944, where approximately 31,000 individuals were held captive. Today, it features a well-maintained museum that offers visitors an insightful glimpse into this dark chapter of history through various exhibits and memorials.
Wow, so much information that was collected about real people going through such horrible experiences in such horrible circumstances. It was very impressive, lots of time for reflection on how lucky we are not to have gone through the wars. This is a must see for every generation and this should be shared across the globe. What happened here must never happen again, heart breaking. Very educational and amazingly well done. Also you are not able to use cash here, only digital payments.

A moving experience. Highly recommend with kids as there's a fantastic and well though of children guild book and audio book which we enjoyed too as adults. It tells the story with a lot of thought of how to explain what happened without traumatising you. It makes you think. Very educational and well organised. As a visitor Holocaust museums from around the world need to come and see how it's done in Vlught.

I cannot say nothing bad, parking available for free, very kind English speaking staff, adequate entrance fee, wc available, part of the museum is inside, part is outside, we apologize to be there with our young son, but he went through it quietly and peacefully with us, it's a pity that today's people have not learned at all, the horrors of the past are repeated over and over, outside the museum you can visit the monument and barrack B1

To the West of 's-Hertogenbosch, lies a railway bridge which is now restored to a walking track. A well marked 5km walking route goes over the approximately 0.5km long Moerputten Bridge. A good place to take children but be prepared for the sun especially if going in the late mornings or afternoon, taking a cap and water to drink are recommended. Plenty of options for the walking enthusiast to explore. There are other walking tracks to take - see the map at the entrance for alternatives. On the other side of Deutersestraat, de Vughtse Gement is another option for walking and taking in the sunshine. Parking is available for both cars and bikes but can get crowded.

Nice area. Was kinda busy when we were here, and there's not a lot of different routes too choose from, so you're either constantly walking into people or waiting on the side of the paths. Can be incredibly muddy if it has rained before, the bridge itself becomes slippery so be aware of the risks. There's plenty of parking available, and the maps of the area are great.

If you find yourself in Den Bosch, don't miss the Bossche bollen belevenis. These sweet pastries are a local specialty and can be found in almost every bakery and eatery in the city. The treat consists of choux pastry filled with whipped cream and coated with dark chocolate. You can also join a workshop to learn how to make these delicious treats or visit a mini museum and experience center dedicated to the Bossche Bol.
Visited today and had a lovely time we are a family of 3 of 2 adults and a 13 year old. The museum is small but well thought out we loved trying the chocolate. The highlight though was the lovely lady called Ezra in the cafe at the end who was so welcoming and helpful. Really engaged with us and was happy to answer any questions we had. The bosche bollen and tea and coffee at the end was the icing on the cake. Well worth a visit if you want to try.

The Standbeeld Jeroen Bosch pays homage to the renowned Dutch painter Hieronymus Bosch, who emerged in the late 15th century. Celebrated for his extraordinary and imaginative portrayals of religious and fantastical themes, Bosch's artwork is marked by vibrant colors and intricate details that often delve into the bizarre and macabre. His masterpieces, such as The Garden of Earthly Delights and The Temptation of St.
Brabantian Master Monument 'Jheronimus Bosch'. In Spain the painter is known as 'El Bosco'. However, it was a Dutch painter from Den Bosch. One of the greatest painters in Dutch history. The Jheronimus Bosch art center provides an insight into the painter's life. He is often mentioned in the same breath with his contemporary 'Leonardo da Vinci', while he has a completely different painting style

(Translated by Google) Hieronymus Bosch ('s Hertogenbosch circa 1450 - buried there August 9, 1516) was a South Dutch painter. He went down in history as "den duvelmakere" (the creator of devils) and as a painter of satirical scenes, but he is especially important as an innovator of the visual tradition. He imaginatively interpreted common (religious) motifs and devised a series of new representations. As a result, the precise meaning of some of his work has remained unknown. Although he was already a famous painter during his lifetime and received commissions from the ducal court in Brussels, relatively little is known about him. One of his most famous works is the triptych "The Garden of Earthly Delights".

Museum Kruithuis is a hexagonal building, one of the last of its kind, located near the center of Den Bosch. It has been beautifully renovated and now serves as an art museum with a historic courtyard. The museum offers interesting exhibitions about Frederik Hendrik and the role of water in 's-Hertogenbosch, incorporating modern technology to enhance the visitor experience. Visitors can enjoy a peaceful atmosphere and have a nice meal in the beautiful courtyard.
Very very friendly staff, interesting display of history concentrating on the 1629 siege of Den Bosch but also the wider Dutch Revolt. Nice diorama with light/audio show as well as an interesting tour guide. Information is in Dutch only but there is a QR code you can get there with English (and more languages) explanations

Hosted in an old gunpowder armoury, this museum focuses on the history of the 1629 siege of ‘s-Hertogenbosch during the 80 years war. Beautifully restored building but the exhibition is mostly in Dutch though some QR codes available for info in other languages. The building also hosts a nice cafeteria (Grand Café 1629) which also allows to get a good look at the building. The ticket is a bit expensive if you don’t have a museum card.

(Translated by Google) Press Release – 's-Hertogenbosch, July 2025 Honor for the Blue Guard – Forgotten Soldiers of William of Orange Receive Their Memorial 's-Hertogenbosch has reclaimed a piece of its forgotten history. In July 2025, a new bronze memorial plaque was unveiled at the Oranje Bastion – honoring the men of the Blue Guard, the elite unit that fought for Stadtholder King William III of Orange on the River Boyne in 1690. The Blue Guard, officially called the Gardes te Voet van Zijne Hoogheid, consisted of carefully selected marksmen with steady hands and a sure eye. They formed the last line of defense during the river crossing at the Battle of the Boyne and suffered heavy losses – a third of the regiment was killed. Yet they held firm, to the last man. The new memorial plaque bears the inscription: "They stood where others fell. They held where others retreated. Their breath was the measure of the fire. ... No one wanted to live with the shame of standing behind the Blue Guard." Below it is the motto of the House of Orange-Nassau: "Je Maintiendrai" – I will stand firm. The initiative for this remembrance arose from new historical research on the Gardes te Voet and the rediscovery of documents in the 's-Hertogenbosch City Archives and the National Archives in The Hague. The plaque was placed on the wall of the former powder magazine of the Oranje Bastion, where, according to recent architectural studies, traces of the regiment's original quarters were found. With this memorial, the men of the Blue Guard finally receive the recognition their courage deserves – not as conquerors, but as guardians of steadfastness. (Translated by Google) Fantastically beautiful DwangBurcht... Once founded to get and keep those people from Den Bosch in line, now used as a provincial archive. The building is not accessible for tourists, the surrounding area is freely accessible, let's say from sunrise to sunset. A nice place to take a look from the ramparts, or spend your lunch break on a bench between the cannons... don't stuff your sandwich bags down the barrel! An enviable workplace for the chosen few who are allowed to manage and make accessible the archive, but also invaluable as a very well-managed cultural heritage. Both the content and the real estate. There are sporadic events, for example during the parade, at those moments you even experience the mysticism of this location. (Original) Fantastisch mooie DwangBurcht…

Built in 1984 by Dutch architect Dries Kreijkamp, these quirky houses resemble bowling balls and are connected by winding paths. While not a tourist attraction, the area offers an intriguing glimpse into unconventional Dutch architecture. Visitors can freely explore the neighborhood and learn about its history from informational signs.

Nice place to visit. It’s not attraction but something that it’s worth to see it. Them houses designed years ago for single or couple without children. Really great idea. Shame some of them are not cleaned and tidy. When we seen them we felt like we are in future ;-) still worth it to see them. We didn’t have chance to see them inside (only through Google) but it’s few information on sign post a little bit of history. Free car park around them and river when you can actually do walk.

Very nice 45-minute tour around the house where Bosch lived. And very friendly staff.
Milan M — Google review
Last Saturday I visited the Jeroenboschhuis in s'-Hertongenbosch's Market Square. The Jeroen Bosch House recently opened to the public on April 1, 2022, and I was one of the early visitors to visit the museum in Hieronymus Bosch's recently-restored home. Tickets are timed-entry and require a reservation, and as of last weekend only 6 people are allowed on the tour every 20 minutes. The restrictions result in a very intimate experience, and as you walk into the centuries-old house, you realize what it must have been like to live in the 15th-century (think no running water, stench and tight spaces). In those days, most people had rotting teeth and would sleep sitting up in bed, as they feared they would die if they slept lying down. The museum not only features the restored house but also provides a guided video tour, and as you walk from room to room and up and down narrow staircases, you learn about Bosch's life and how he came to be one of the era's most important painters. I have always loved Bosch's strange and macabre works, and the Jeroen Bosch House features chilling images which you would expect from this enigmatic artist. The last time I was here in Holland I visited the Jheronimus Bosch Art Center, also in Den Bosch, which featured the painter's masterpieces. My advice would be to visit the house first and then the Art Center, as the two really complement each other. I think this is a five-star experience in terms of the history of the one-of-a-kind Dutch master; however, I would have loved to see more of his art actually on display rather than just on the video. Either way, I think it definitely worth a visit if you are in Den Bosch.

This is truly a puzzle room, so don't expect any major plot twists or spectacular technical effects. The room didn't need any — I loved the mechanics. Everything was homemade, and you could feel the owners' love for escape rooms. The puzzles were very good and gave you plenty of real eureka moments. I highly recommend this room; it will make you fall in love with classic escape rooms all over again. The Testament: This was a fantastic escape room and goes straight onto my list of the best rooms I've ever played. The room feels incredibly authentic. The game host was very friendly and did a great job during the introduction. The owners are very passionate and know exactly how to build their rooms. Their vision of using a lot of real mechanics is very clear in this room and is a very good choice. The puzzles were logical yet challenging, and the room looked beautiful. The story was fun and surprising, and the puzzles were something I hadn't seen before, and they fit the story perfectly. In short, a truly top-notch room. (Original) Wij speelden beide kamers.
