Bolu Museum, situated within the Culture Center, houses a diverse collection of archaeological artifacts including coins, weapons, jewelry and household objects. The exhibits are sourced from various excavations in the region and span different historical periods such as Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman. This museum offers insights into Bolu's rich history as an integral part of the ancient Bithynia kingdom. Despite undergoing reconstruction during a visit, it was still accessible and showcased well-maintained displays with bilingual signage.
This place has the largest artifacts collection among the Black Sea regions museums. All the masterpieces of the museum sheding light to historical journey from ancient ages to modern era. I highy recommend a museum tour. Please do not miss and hesitate.

It was small but lovely place. However I experienced a strange thing about the entrance fees, it was different prices for tourists. We paid doubled just because we are not Turkish residents. Anyway it was so worth it to visit. Thanks

In one word, it is the place to dive into nature... Highly recommended

Must visit! I enjoyed a full walk around the lake and I really recommend it. Just make sure you have a couple of hours to spare for the walk. Wear hiking shoes.
Rawan A — Google review
Visited in winter- with snow covered hills, pristine lake - such a peaceful and relaxing place. Came here practically every day when we stayed in the area. We are tourists so of course, we did the touristy thing and had a horse carriage ride. Was a pleasure
Jack C — Google review
It is a good area with a lake and some facilities like having picnic and jogging, but garbage around was disappointing. There is also a museum with traditional model houses and mounted animals.
Arif T — Google review
Lake Abant is a freshwater lake in Turkey's Bolu Province in northwest Anatolia, formed as a result of a great landslide. The lake lies at an altitude of 1,328 m at a distance of 32 km from the provincial seat of Bolu. It is a vacation and excursion spot for both Turkish and foreign travellers due to the natural environment, forests, and accessibility by car. It is served by a 21 km road. It is three hours' drive from İstanbul and Ankara. Lake Abant is a natural park. The lake covers an area of 1.28 km2 and its deepest spot is 18 m. The lake area has two large hotels in the immediate vicinity of the shores, as well as other amenities and services for visitors, who sometimes alternatively opt for the family guesthouses available in the nearby town of Mudurnu, 18 km to the south. European black pine, Scots pine, oaks, ashes, hornbeams, willows, junipers, tamarisks, hazels, common medlar, and strawberry trees are among the tree species that make up the lake's woodlands, and there are wild boars, fallow deer, roe deer , red deer, brown bears, wolves, red foxes, jackals, and rabbits in the surrounding forests, which makes the lake a prized location for hunters during the season. The lake is inhabited by the Abant trout Salmo abanticus, a (sub)species of trout which is strictly endemic to this lake only.

Amazing place for the nature lovers, hiking enthusiasts or for any one who wants some fresh air and serene view. A must to see in Bolu. If you don't own a car, there is a bus from downtown Bolu that goes directly to the park, make sure to check the bus schedule before taking it.

National forest
Yedigöller National Park, located about 42 kilometers north of Bolu, is a breathtaking nature retreat known for its seven interconnected lakes, lush forests, and diverse wildlife. The park offers visitors the chance to explore small waterfalls, scenic trails, and even hot springs. Despite the road leading to the park being in need of repair, it's a must-visit destination for those seeking a romantic and tranquil forest experience.
Highly recommend going to see the Büyükgöl during the fall. It has been one of the best places we have visited in Türkiye. I read a review that said people must be using filters, but I didn’t put filters on any of my photos, the Yedigöller is just that impressive. Additionally, the time of year you visit is important. We went in November when the leaves were changing and it was absolutely picturesque.
ES K — Google review
A very beautiful and wonderful place, especially in autumn. It gets crowded on weekends, and the road requires attention, but it’s definitely worth it
Hamit Y — Google review
We visited Yedigöller at the weekend. The weather was great. Along the way, I recommend stopping at Kapankaya seyir terasi... It's an inconspicuous stop, so I recommend following the GPS. There is a narrow road leading to yedigöller and it is forbidden to stand on the side of the road. But the park was full of people and everyone stopped. That is why there was a ban on the way back, for the way back you had to go in the direction of Mengen. Which is a longer and, as they said, worse way. The road from Bolu was good, in places it was completely new. There were a lot of people in the park. The leaves were yellow in places, but mostly still green. Don't believe the photos on social networks, they use a filter. But it's a nice place and everyone should visit it at least once. The lakes have a beautiful turquoise color.

15/11/2025 : Instagram tarafından öldürüldü :( 50k people, almost 10k cars...1.5hr drive on an unmaintained local road to reach a place that is no bigger than 2 acres and where there is no natural light after 3-4pm... + with such huge crowds in such a tiny place expect the usual crazy littering (dozens of water and ayran bottles scattered everywhere, even saw a whiskey bottle floating) and general ridiculous behaviours (constant honking, loud music playing, wannabe instagramers shooting nonstop, cigarette packs and cigs everywhere...). The place itself might be ok when alone tho fairly secluded, but is really not worth the hype in those conditions. Avoid this place!

Amazing experience! I went there from Istanbul, i took a bus to Bolu and then hitchhiked to the national park ! It was 7 in the morning, the first driver left me in the middle of the road And I was a bit worried not to find another driver! But after 9 you will find plenty, The park is amazing, worth visiting

A stunning and peaceful place surrounded by trees and fresh mountain air. The lake view is beautiful and perfect for walking, taking photos, or just sitting by the water and enjoying the quiet. Parking is easy to find, though it can get a bit crowded at times. Definitely a must-visit if you’re spending time in Bolu.

a beautiful lake close to Bolu, about 10 minutes far.. beautiful road, through the mountain... There are restaurants and cafés toilets.. Kids playground.. The entrance fee for the car is 105 TL, you will park your car then walk around the lake and choose your preferred place to enjoy your time ... many free natural fountains to drink directly Recommended...
Mohammad A — Google review
Gorgeous setting, even more beautiful during the sunset time. Nice uphill road while driving. A must see when around the area. Entrance with a fee of 105 TL for cars. There’s one restaurant which is rather low quality and overpriced. Best is to bring your own food, take portable chairs and relax next to the water. Not a very big lake, can walk around in 20-25 min. Perfect spot to relax.

The best ski center of Turkey!
Mehmet B — Google review
Kartalkaya Ski Resort Review Kartalkaya Ski Resort, located in Bolu, Turkey, is one of the country’s most popular winter destinations. Known for its scenic beauty, well-maintained slopes, and excellent amenities, it offers a fantastic skiing experience for visitors of all skill levels. Skiing and Snowboarding The resort boasts over 20 kilometers of ski runs, with a variety of slopes tailored for beginners, intermediates, and advanced skiers. The snow quality is typically excellent, thanks to its altitude and snow machines that ensure consistent coverage throughout the season. For snowboarders, the terrain parks are particularly impressive, offering jumps, rails, and other features to enjoy. Facilities and Services The resort is well-equipped with modern chairlifts and drag lifts that ensure minimal waiting times even during peak hours. Ski rental services are efficient, providing high-quality equipment at reasonable prices. Additionally, there are ski schools with experienced instructors available, making it a great choice for families and beginners. Accommodation and Dining Kartalkaya is home to several luxury hotels, such as the Golden Key Kartalkaya and Dorukkaya, offering ski-in/ski-out convenience. The hotels feature amenities like spas, heated pools, and cozy lounges with fireplaces, perfect for relaxing after a long day on the slopes. Dining options include a mix of Turkish and international cuisine, with warm, hearty meals to keep you energized. Scenery and Atmosphere One of the resort’s standout features is its stunning views of the Köroğlu Mountains. The natural beauty and serene environment make it an ideal destination for those looking to combine skiing with a peaceful getaway. Suggestions for Improvement While Kartalkaya is an excellent resort, it could benefit from better off-piste and backcountry options for advanced skiers looking for more adventurous terrain. Additionally, increasing nightlife options could make it more appealing to younger visitors. Overall Rating Kartalkaya Ski Resort is a top-tier winter destination in Turkey, offering great slopes, excellent facilities, and breathtaking views. Whether you’re a family with kids or a seasoned skier, you’ll find plenty to enjoy here. Highly recommended! Suggestions for Erzurum Ski Resort (Palandöken) 1. Expand Ski Terrain Although Palandöken is known for its long and challenging runs, introducing more beginner-friendly slopes would make it more inclusive for families and novice skiers. 2. Improve Night Skiing Enhancing the night skiing experience with better lighting and more runs would add an exciting option for visitors. 3. Strengthen Après-Ski Options Palandöken could benefit from a greater variety of après-ski activities, such as live music events, bars, and cultural experiences. This would help attract younger tourists and groups looking for a vibrant social scene. 4. Enhance Transportation Access While Erzurum is accessible via air and rail, providing shuttle services directly from the airport or city center to the ski resort would make it more convenient for international travelers. 5. Promote Guided Tours Offering guided tours for backcountry skiing or exploring the nearby natural attractions would appeal to adventurers seeking unique experiences beyond the regular slopes. Erzurum Ski Resort has immense potential, and by focusing on these improvements, it could solidify its position as a world-class skiing destination in Turkey.
Obeida S — Google review
Kartalkaya is a small and expensive skiarea, most of the lifts are old, and the terrain is limited. It consists of two small non-integrated skiareas that would require you to buy two separate full price lift tickets to explore it all. Even so, it would take only about an hour to do so, most of that time spent in lifts. You can have a good time here, but it requires that you study the weather forecast, both for your skiing day, and the days leading up to.
Rune B — Google review
Great place to go skiing if there is enough snow hotel very nice and staff very friendly and polite.
L H — Google review
Medium to easy slopes, gorgeous landscape, good for a weekend or longer for beginners. The only thing I have really missed is a decent place to eat, have a coffee or have a regular afterski experience. There is only one extremely expensive restaurant, there is no place even to have your own food or rest (like you would have anywhere on the European ski slopes).
Roxana T — Google review
If you want to be ripped off, that’s the right place to be. I’ve been visiting this ski resort(Dorukkaya) for many years and unfortunately the only thing that changes every year is the price table. 8900 TRY for 2 nights unbelievable. It’s even worse for same-day visitors. 350 TRY for 1 day ski pass, 220 TRY for ski rentals. I didn’t bother myself to check food&drink menu :) Anyway, you pay these ridiculous prices and what you get is terrible service, old lifts and not enough ski piste signs.

Nature preserve
The optimal period to visit the Akkaya Travertenleri nature preserve is any time except for the winter season. The surroundings boast breathtaking landscapes, and surprisingly, the water remains warm despite freezing temperatures. It resembles mineral water with a fizzy quality rather than typical spring water. According to local workers, visitors often indulge in hot spring baths and mud masks. However, during winter when everything is covered in snow, visibility is greatly reduced.
I REALLY loved it there! You only have to pay for entry and then you have access for everything inside free (except food & drink shops). There is a huge swimming pool, restaurants and cafe, photo corner, bbq grill place with free tables and chairs, a cave, and more.... I recommend you come here
Huthaifa N — Google review
Recommended. It not far from Bolu town. Entrance fees is 105TL per car (pls see the price list for other) close at 7:00pm,the calcium pool was dry but the cave (bring the troch or phone it ok too)and view beautiful. Love the idea see a lot of people just come for picnic and BBQ with family. It is bargain if you devise the cost between friends. So I think it is reasonable price fees entrance.
Nat M — Google review
Spectacular views and some interesting cave formations - not deep but big enough to walk about in. Just make sure you take the right path. The travertines themselves are a bit disappointing, just a series of hollows around a wedding centre, and (on our visit anyway) very very smelly. Like somebody was burning manure. Take the little flight of stone steps down near the natural water spring. The wated, btw, is something else. Kind of fizzy with calcium. You can get ayran made with it too. Unvelievable. Absolute nectar.
CLIVE N — Google review
I think best time for it is not winter 😅. Beautiful scenery, amazingly the water is warm even though it was freezing its not spring water more like minerals water fizzy . The worker there said people come to bathe in the hot spring and mask in mud, but because it was winter and snow covers everything we barely saw anything.
Tahreer A — Google review
Good nature, fresh and clean air, very green. Entrance fee is 20 tl And you get nothing in return, just fresh air and free mineral water

It's an honestly amazing place and is so natural with an extremely great amount of charming flowers to take pics of, and there are 1 or 2 restaurants there, and there are also two fancy foot pluging areas one for men and the othe othe is for women, but the water isn't any water, it's actuallynatural bicarbonate water and it drinkable, really recommend 👌😀😍
Rawan M — Google review
A very good view of travertines where is located in the countryside of Bolu. This place is suitable or proper for barbecuo or picnic. In addition to these, there are also plenty of small caves which is consits of lime from prehistoric ages I preassume. Flowing water, that contains calcium oxide, makes its way white lime stone even plants and solid. On the other sode of the coin, some travertines render black or brown due to not only dirtness but also uncared and neglected conditions. To sum up, it is worht to visit this spectacular place.

Nice and calm place. There is a mosque with forest view, few tables for picnic, small shops that offers local products. You can get free tea and food. Beautiful place for short visit on your way to-from Bolu.

There is a shrine or tomb of Hz. Tokad-i Hayrettin, as is evident from his name was born in Tokat, in country side of Bolu. The tomb is very spectacular place. It is even free to enter this place by car. This wonderful place was an ancient dervish convent in fifteenth centuries. A non-governmental organization belongs and cares this place. Hence, a public soup-kitchen is located in its borders so as to feed poor or needy people by free of charge. Furthermore, there is a beautiful lake which contains fish, water turtles, frogs, and lots of different kind of insects, upper side of the tomb. What's more, merchants or sales people coming from diversified villages. You can purchase varied products such as cheese, honey, pasta, butter from these villagers. Last but not least, I recommend everyone, happening to pass Bolu, to visit these place

(Translated by Google) I gave it five stars to make my review stand out. It's the dirtiest and most unequipped campsite you'll ever see. You can go without a reservation because no one goes, it's always empty. We stayed two nights, and the area was littered with trash. We thought they'd probably pick it up, but by the end of the second day, the trash had multiplied. The toilets don't have proper water, so the problem persists. They've cut off all the taps in the sinks, and only one has running water. They provide electricity by putting three-way plugs in plastic bags, but they don't offer water. They tell you to fill your tank at the fountain. They claim to serve a variety of meals at the entrance, but they won't serve them unless you're a large group. Don't rely on them for breakfast or meals, and bring something to eat.

This isn't the artificial tranquility offered by luxury hotels and crowded restaurants, but a truly natural and genuine serenity. In conclusion, At Yaylası is the perfect place to soothe your soul, embrace nature, and take a short break from the hustle and bustle of life. It absolutely deserves a perfect 5. (Translated by Google) Spending time in Democracy Square is like touching the heart of Bolu. This place is right in the middle of the city, surrounded by cafes and restaurants serving delicious food. The Ataturk statue in the square reminds us of how important changes Turkey has undergone. It's perfect to sip a coffee here and look around and observe the liveliness of the city and people's daily lives. In addition, the old buildings around reveal the rich history and architectural beauty of Bolu. Democracy Square is the meeting point of the city, both socially and historically.

(Translated by Google) Even though Bolu seems big in name, it is actually a small city. Democracy Square is one of the most beautiful, largest and most visited areas in Bolu. It can be considered as big for Bolu. It was first turned into a place to visit with a small and beautiful arrangement. It is a place with historical mosques, baths and saunas around it. If you go up or down from Democracy Square, you will be on the Istanbul Ankara Ring Road. There are cafes and places to eat around it. If you have been to Bolu, you will find it fun to spend time wandering around here. In fact, the square that opens the street where you can find many things you are looking for is also the democracy square. This is the place where the saying "Bolu, whatever it is" is said 😂😂 When I come to Bolu, I definitely visit these places. There is a cafe right across the street. It's where all the university students hang out. You can play okay here, drink tea and eat your toast. For this reason, there are minibus stops that go to the districts a little further down. When you go down a little bit, you immediately come across the governor's office.

Nice and atmospheric place to visit with kids for a walk. It's free, so small destructions of sculptures and story plates does not lower the rating for me.
