MuSa - Museo di Salò is a museum located in the Church of Santa Giustina, offering a blend of permanent and temporary exhibitions that delve into the history, science, and art of Salo. The museum showcases traditional and multimedia art collections that narrate the city's history, including dedicated rooms for renowned past citizens like Gasparo da Salo.
Top museum. Fantastic displays of artefacts and art. Imaginatively laid out and engrossing. We spent all morning there.

We caught a Gustav Klimpt special exhibition there! Most pleasantly surprised. It’s a great museum, and blissfully air conditioned too. An interesting, calm and cool visit. What more could you want.

Please recognise the helpfulness of my review, by pressing the LIKE button! We made the drive from Garda to Salo on 18 August 2017. After spending a little time on the lakefront enjoying the scene and the ice cream, we made the museum (MuSa) the focus of our visit. There were a number of exhibitions. The ones which I liked best were the Museum of Madness, the exhibition about Gaspara the violin inventor and the exhibition about Mussolini and the second world war. It was okay to take photographs without flash. The madness exhibition included a painting by Adolf Hitler. It felt really unnerving looking at a painting that he had worked on. None of us liked the painting. The exhibition on Gaspara was relatively small, but it was interesting - Salo claiming that Gaspara was the inventor of the violin. The exhibition about Mussolini and the war was fascinating. It included many sculptures and artwork, posters and photographs. Salo was where Mussolini last ruled Italy albeit as a puppet state, and it was also on Lake Garda where Mussolini met his grisly end. We enjoyed a few hours in the MuSa and we all felt it to be a worthwhile and thought provoking visit.

(Translated by Google) The palace likely dates back to the 14th century, when it was the seat of government of the Magnifica Patria, a confederation of 36 municipalities on the Brescian shore of Lake Garda and the Val di Sabbia. It came under Venetian rule and was renovated in the 18th century. In 1901, after a terrible earthquake, it was joined to the Palazzo del Podestà. Today, it houses the Municipality of Salò. (Translated by Google) Among Salò's most important monuments are the Palazzo della Magnifica Patria and the Palazzo del Podestà. They are connected by a remarkable loggia, which displays the coats of arms of the towns that formed the confederation, and four tombstones of prominent figures who passed through Salò: Cavour, Garibaldi, Mazzini, and King Victor Emmanuel. The name Magnifica Patria (Magnificent Homeland) derives from 1426, when Salò came under the rule of the Serenissima, as evidenced by several depictions of the Lion of Saint Mark. The palaces currently house the town hall.

Spiaggia Mulino, also known as Spiaggia del Mulino, is a rocky lakeside beach located at the southern end of Salos gulf. It is popular for its clear waters and comprehensive facilities. Bau Beach, nestled in the picturesque Cisano di San Felice del Benaco, is a delightful spot for both humans and their furry companions. This charming beach offers a designated area for dogs to frolic freely in the water while ensuring safety with its well-defined boundaries. The gravelly shoreline provides a unique experience, although visitors should be mindful of some larger stones that can make swimming challenging.

(Translated by Google) Small beach area where dogs are allowed. You access the area via a staircase with a gate, which we think is quite good. This prevents dogs from accidentally wandering onto the road. Next door is a lovely bistro with delicious food. We went there with our dog and our dinghy and even went swimming. You can spend a lovely day here with your dog. The beach is, as usual, rocky and there's plenty of shade, which doesn't bother us. If you want to bake in the sun, you'll have to make an effort. There's a free parking lot within walking distance (200 meters). Across the street, there's a very expensive parking lot (€2 per hour), but it's also suitable for campers.

Floriana Ristorante offers a blend of modern Italian cuisine in a historic setting. The restaurant is housed in a centuries-old building with charming vintage decor, including 16th-century pillars and arches. Guests can dine in the refined dining room with its checkered floor or opt for the patio seating. The menu features creative and authentic dishes, though prices may be higher compared to other locations. The attentive staff provides excellent service, and there's an additional lunch menu available during lunchtime.
Everything we ate there was amazing: from the bread to the main dishes and desert. The staff was also really nice, offering pre deserts and being welcoming with our dog. Would definitely recommend this place!
Raquel B — Google review
The restaurant is beautifully located in the heart of Salò, just behind the historic Palazzo della Magnifica Patria. We had the pleasure of dining on the outdoor terrace in the charming Piazza Sant’Antonio, which truly added a lovely, local touch to the experience. Service was definitely a highlight - our waiters were exceptionally friendly, well-trained, and genuinely eager to help. Their warm attitude created a very welcoming atmosphere from the start. As for the food, the ingredients are clearly of high quality, and the restaurant’s focus on authenticity and culinary creativity is evident. The menu is adventurous, blending regional traditions with inspiration from land, lake, and sea, as described on their website. However, in our experience, the creative combinations sometimes missed the mark. While the raw materials themselves were excellent, the flavors didn’t always harmonize well, and in some dishes the strong presence of sauces seemed to overshadow the natural quality of the ingredients. A more minimalist approach might allow the core flavors to shine more clearly. Overall, it’s a place with a great location, wonderful service, and a bold culinary concept. With a bit more refinement and balance in the execution of flavors, it could easily move from good to great

Fantastic! We had one of our best lunches here. In Italy we’ve found really good salads are often hard to come by - Mokai Beach had some exceptional salads available - I had the Beach with prawns, tuna, olives, greens and mozzarella. The wife had the Mokai with artichoke, corn, walnuts, olive, greens. Added to this, Mokai Beach cafe is in an incredibly beautiful spot, tables right by the water. Perfect place for some cold beers and delicious food. Friendly staff who allowed us to speak in our very basic Italian when their English was obviously much better and fluent 😂 Probably our favourite spot for a cold drink and lunch in Lake Garda / Salò Definitely worth checking out ❤️❤️❤️

The bar and restaurant offer a great selection of drinks and food, from refreshing cocktails to light snacks and more refined dishes. Everything is fresh, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. What makes Mokai Beach special is the combination of natural beauty, comfort, and quality service. Whether you come for a swim in the crystal-clear waters, to enjoy a cocktail at sunset, or to spend a full day relaxing by the lake, it delivers the perfect experience. Sedermi sulle panchine all'interno della loggia mi è piaciuto tantissimo.

(Translated by Google) It's been a while. The Palazzo della Podesta now houses the town hall. The Palazzo della Magnifica Patria is directly attached to this palazzo. Seen from the lake side, the Palazzo della Podesta is on the right, the Palazzo della Magnifica Patria on the left. There are two palaces. Seen from a distance, the construction methods are similar, but upon closer inspection there are major differences. Houses built together are nothing special in Salo, there are a lot of them. In one palazzo the arches rest on round columns, in the other they rest on very wide rectangular columns. The rectangular columns are also led up the entire facade, up to the roof, the round columns are not. The facade colors are also different. (Original) Ist schon eine Zeit lang her.

(Translated by Google) Built in the early 1500s, the Palazzo del Podestà, a century later, became the Palace of the Magnificent Homeland, including 52 municipalities, from Bedizzole to Limone sul Garda; in fact, on the Loggia, we find the coats of arms of all the Municipalities painted. In the same Loggia we find the plaques celebrating the visit to Salò of illustrious figures, such as King Vittorio Emanuele, Giuseppe Mazzini, Count Cavour and Giuseppe Garibaldi. In 1901, following a strong earthquake, the palace suffered serious damage and was almost entirely rebuilt. During the period of the Italian Social Republic, better known as the Republic of Salò (1943-1945), it was its official headquarters for 600 days, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and some press agencies. Immediately afterwards the Palace was converted into a Town Hall. On 24 November 2004, following another earthquake, the building suffered damage and was restored, but some offices (Registry Office and Local Police) were transferred to the Liceo Enrico Fermi in Via Fantoni. (Translated by Google) Like every giant bench I've visited, there are no signs or signs indicating the route to take, but compared to other benches, this one is very easy to reach and the parking lot is right nearby, above San Felice. Unfortunately, it's not easy to get on this bench (at least in others there is a stone or a log that acts as a step to get up), it's also a shame that some uncivilized person wrote on it. The view of the lake would be better if the branches of the plants were cut a bit. Accessible with strollers for children, a little less with wheelchairs.

In the centre, a high column on which the symbol of Salò is crouched, the winged lion of St. Mark which supports an open book with one paw. If you are in Salò, it is mandatory to extend your walk along the lakeside to see the square. A curiosity: along the Venetian walls, to the left, there is a small door at lake level. In the 1600s at the time of the plague, it was used to transport the sick by boat across the gulf to the hospital in front, which was on the other side of the gulf, without having the plague victims cross the town on a cart.

(Translated by Google) The lakeside promenade is very beautiful, but it's a shame it's rarely used in the evening. The lights create a very romantic atmosphere, but half of the town is closed, and strollers can enjoy dinner or an after-dinner drink but can't visit shops or anything else because everything closes at 7:30 PM. It's a shame, because beyond the lakeside walk, the town center isn't enhanced. (Translated by Google) Aerial view of the pitch and the adjacent parking lot, the famous market parking lot. There's also another part of the parking lot that's not visible in this shot. I'll upload more videos! I just have one thing to say: if they want to play, let them play, but don't let the fans throw firecrackers or use those drums, which are truly annoying. If they want to sing, let them sing, but don't use the drums; they're exhausting for those who live 100 meters away. It's not an indoor stadium, it's open-air, has few seats, and it shouldn't have been built there, rather than putting the clinics in Cunettone, which isn't served by public transportation, especially for the elderly and disabled. The match isn't a necessity, a basic necessity, and besides, the best place is there, not here in the center so they can do what they want there. Whether Union Brescia, formerly Feralpi Salò, stays here or Desenzano moves in, it doesn't change anything; it's still chaos among the houses. Then they ban gatherings of more than 99 people in Salò. This was reported on Tg4 two or three days ago, the hardest-hit municipality on Lake Garda, along with Desenzano, by these rules. For example, a guy said, "I brought a friend of mine here to Salò at 1:30 in the morning." In August, there wasn't a single bar open. I remember that in 2000, the bar stayed open until 4:00 in the morning, some even longer, but it was open at least until 2:30. In the sailor days, they'd serve food at 1:00, pizza, and even later. Now, something like this is unthinkable. I filmed for Brescia.TV as soon as it was founded. I worked with a journalist from Maderno. I heard things that would make your hair stand on end. I won't go into the merits, because I don't want to get sued. I know Ciro Corradini personally, because when we worked there, he followed sports, while we followed news and everything else about Lake Garda in particular.

Spiaggia di Barbarano is a small gravel beach that's a favorite among locals. It has basic amenities like a shower and a nearby toilet, although it's just a portaloo. Visitors are advised to bring their own mat for sunbathing as there are only a couple of benches available. The lake water is warm even at night, but it gets deep quickly so swimming shoes are recommended for protection. While pets aren't allowed, the beach sees regular visitors and tourists alike.
Tiny gravel beach, popular with locals, shower at the beach, toilet near the car park but is a portaloo thing. Best to bring a mat to lie on, there are a couple of benches, Lake is warm, even at night. Gets deep very quickly, vest yo bring those swimming shoes to protect your feet in the water. Supermarket at the top of the lane for lunches and drinks.

Very small and busy public beach. Pretty much the only one in the area, so if you don’t want to pay top dollars for a beach front hotel, you’re stuck with this one, unless you want to go to the smaller lakes in the area, which are in my opinion much nicer than lake Garda.

Very small beach with very little shadow. We made the mistake to go there at the weekend so it was also extremely crowded. Only positive thing is the available shower and also the free parking (but this was also desperately full at the weekend)
