Musée de la Pêche is a maritime heritage museum that has been showcasing the area's fishing industry since 1961. Visitors can explore exhibits on net fishing development and even board a real fishing boat to experience its bridge with switches and buttons, as well as the engine room. The museum also offers guided tours for an in-depth look at the displays.
I dragged myself to this museum to kill time while waiting for a bus and my goodness am I glad I did! The focus on all aspects of fishing - from the boats to nets to ropes to the animals to the canning and industrialisation - is strong, the aesthetic is lovely, dioramas are fantastic, and many of the animals are hand taxidermied! The building itself has a beautiful wooden ceiling so remember to look up as you walk around. I loved it so much that I bought a tote and fridge magnets. A really wonderful regional museum.
Rebecca O — Google review
Brilliant museum in historic port. Lots of displays of models and some actual full size fishing boats. A great place for the sailor and historians. I particularly appreciated the little tableaux illustrating fishing, etc
David J — Google review
Fascinating history of the fishing industry from historic times through to the present day. Incredibly detailed models and full size craft. Staff are very friendly and are on hand to add further explanation. Well worth a visit.
Tim J — Google review
Very nice museum. Accessing the old ship was a highlight for me.
Govert N — Google review
Lovely museum with the history of fishing in Concarneau. We, my wife, 11 yr son and me had a good time Specially the old fishing boat was a good Add on.
Ray's — Google review
Took grandson in there, he loved it, easy to miss the door that leads to the Trawler. Lots to look at but not all had dual language descriptions of the displayed items. I had, over previous visits, walked passed thinking it could not be much, for 5 euros, pleasantly surprised.
Colin M — Google review
lots of ficlshing ships maquets, you can visit a real fishing ship too
Natalia D — Google review
What a surprise! One would think something not too exciting, but wow! The models showing net fishing development and how they deploy in 3 dimensions are awesome. But the highlight is the fishing boat you can go on yourself. The bridge has switches and buttons that will amaze you that you can touch and switch. The engine room is a treat and as an American I realized the no damn way would you be able to have that kind of access in a culture obsessed with liability and suing. What a treat!

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Château de Keriolet is a fabulous Neo-Gothic castle that was once the residence of a 19th-century Russian princess and French Count. The castle boasts stunning architecture and furnishings, offering visitors an excellent guided tour by Gaelle. Nearby, Plage de Cornouaille and Plage des Sables Blancs are perfect for laid-back beach days, while the Port de Plaisance offers boat trips to the Glenan Islands and dolphin-spotting excursions.
The Château de Keriolet, located near Concarneau in Brittany, France, is a striking 19th-century neo-Gothic castle with an unusual and romantic history. Unlike many châteaux in France, Keriolet is not a medieval fortress but a whimsical revival built on the ruins of an older manor house. The original structure dated back to the 13th century and belonged to a local noble family. By the 19th century, the property had fallen into disrepair. In 1850, it was purchased the Russian imperial princess Zénaïde Narishkin-Youssoupoff, a member of one of the most powerful families in the Russian Empire who had married a much younger commoner, Charles Chauveau, whom she met in Paris. To elevate his social standing, the princess bought him two titles, a comte and marquis. They had a 25-year age gap, but their marriage endured. Wanting a residence befitting her noble status while residing in Brittany, the Countess had the château lavishly rebuilt between 1860 and 1870. Today, it is privately owned and can be visited by guided tours only. €8 per adult with an obligatory donation/tip for the volunteer guides at the end of your tour. The château closes for lunch so make sure you check the opening/tour times and plan accordingly.
Adeline L — Google review
The Chateau was stunning and the tour guides were very good. However I would not recommend for non French speakers with children. Unfortunatley the only way you can see the interior is with a tour and it was just to hard with kids, trying to stop them from touching all the antiques. It would have been great if we could of just quickly walked through with the kids. In saying that the exterior is stunning and the kids loved roaming the garden.
Kelly B — Google review
Really cool, bit hidden gem of the town. Volunteers are working on site who also give guided tours, the income is funding the renovations and maintenance of the manor which has a long and complicated but very interesting history, definitely worth visiting!
Marton S — Google review
Fantastic little chateau, off the beaten track. All tours are guided and mostly in french, however you do get a booklet in English to follow along with. It's privately owned and undergoing constant restoration. Really interesting history. Loads of parking, and only €6.50 for adult entry. Bargain.
Richard B — Google review
It's relatively new. Only guided tours available and only in french
Marc M — Google review
Mystical place. Old park with with statues, the main building and many other buildings. It will be interesting not only connoisseurs and lovers of history. I recommend for visits in any weather. An ancient castle with Russian history. One of the French houses of Yusupova-Naryshkina. Princess Zinaida Ivanovna Yusupova, nee Naryshkina - Russian aristocrat.
Jane ( — Google review
Super, guided tours only but would not be so interesting if you dont hear the history. It takes about an hour, cash or cheques no cards. A lot of funny details, a mix of original 15th century house surrounded and enlarged to a gothic 18 and 19th century walls.
Amanda K — Google review
Fun place to visit, peculiar history and architecture. We had a fun guide (included in entrancefee) that shared lots of funfacts. The current owner still lives on property as hes restoring the castle, so do his dogs that love to welcome the tours. Incredible kitchen. Would recommend.

The Marine Biological Station and Concarneau Marinarium is the oldest marine station in the world that's still operational. It offers a 45-minute visit with well-explained displays of local fish in aquariums and a tactile pool for children. The Marinarium provides an opportunity to discover the diverse marine life forms along Brittany's coastline. While it may not be a large tourist aquarium, it's an enjoyable space, especially for children, and is research-based.
A great aquarium to see the local sea life. Inexpensive, but not very large this is a great place to spend an hour or so.
Dylan H — Google review
Really enjoyed taking the family here. Great aquariums and displays about the fish/whales/sharks and sealife in general...Very informative and both kids (ages 10 and 8) were also interested. Lots of info translated into English..
Oliver D — Google review
It's a small place with just a few aquariums, but what is presented (live fishes, explanation panels) is well made, and the entrance fee is quite cheap. A great way to spend an hour. My kids had a great time searching for the hidden fishes, burrowed in the sand and loved the cute squids.
Alexandre D — Google review
Great little place, less an aquarium & more of and educational centre. It is small, but entrance is cheap. All of the signs, videos and displays are in French (Google translate is your friend here), but despite that it's worth a visit, especially with younger kids.

Nestled along the stunning coastline of Concarneau, Plage des Sables Blancs is a picturesque beach that offers an idyllic escape for sun-seekers and water enthusiasts alike. This expansive stretch of sand is perfect for swimming and surfing, making it a popular spot during the warmer months when seasonal lifeguards are on duty to ensure safety. As the day winds down, visitors can indulge in breathtaking sunset views that paint the sky with vibrant hues.
There is free parking just nearby. We walked on the beach, enjoyed the sand, the pebbles and the wild nature at the end of the beach.

Average beach compared to a lots of other ones in Finistère. In the landscape there is an ugly concrete building. Lots of small rocks in the sand. Not exactly white sand. Ok beach if you are living downtown in the city and close to it, but not worth traveling to there.

The Festival des Filets Bleus in Concarneau is a 3-day event held at the end of August. The festival features a sublime parade, great atmosphere, and delicious local food such as sardines and mussels with fries. Visitors can enjoy concerts, fireworks, and various activities throughout the four days. While the festival is highly successful, some suggest improvements such as better payment options and timing adjustments for certain events to enhance the overall experience.

(Translated by Google) I'm giving it one star because it's the minimum. The organization is a complete mess. A gauge must be respected for security reasons, but no searches during the concert, which we couldn't see. Hundreds of people left and no one was allowed to come back in. Hundreds of people are disappointed. What could have been avoided is the exorbitant price of drinks. The joy of the blue girls is starting to become rare...

(Translated by Google) Exceptional lineup Incredible concerts As for the rest, it's a disgrace, and previous years don't teach them a lesson. An hour to get a drink, they're so organized, it's shameful. And we're not even talking about the wait to get a card to pay, let alone to get something to eat. After 2 hours, still NOTHING, so they gave up. Only the crepe stand was good. We can't take advantage of the festival's benefits. A real shame.
(Translated by Google) What a (catastrophic) organization! Endless queues everywhere. What a stupid idea to force people to queue for 30 minutes to buy and load the festival payment card. All this to then have endless queues at all the stands. Hey, it's 2025, there's credit card and contactless like at FIL in Lorient! The festival takes place in a very confined area, this August 14th it was a crush. Couldn't the parking spaces in front of the walled city be used?? We quickly left... Unbearable (Original) Quelle (catastrophique) organisation ! Queues interminables partout. Insupportable
Voyageur S — Google review
(Translated by Google) We love the blue nets. But now it's time to reinvigorate the volunteer teams to reduce wait times. There's a shortage of volunteers at the bar, and logistics need to be modified to simplify the volunteers' workload and the wait time for festival-goers. This criticism should be taken positively to mix the generations of volunteers and bring in new generations! Please call on the younger generation! The Closed City of Concarneau is a historic walled island town with ramparts dating back to the Middle Ages. The town, fortified in the 14th century and later modified by architect Vauban, is situated on a small island connected by a stone footbridge. Visitors can stroll along the ramparts, taking in panoramic views of the bay, fishing and yachting ports. The city's cobbled streets are lined with half-timbered houses and numerous shops to explore.
One of the most stunning places you could ever imagine. Truly unique and beautiful

A small, fortified city on an island at Concarneau. We arrived at low tide, and left as the tide returned. You can walk part of the ramparts but only one ruined tower. Inside, the city consists of essentially 3 streets--1 main thoroughfare & two streets along the castle walls. Most of the buildings are restaurants and clothing or souvenir shops. A lovely view of the bay can be seen on 2 sides, while the other sides show the adjoining town. Historical signs are few & in French only. We visited on a market day, so parking was a pain. We finally found spots about a mile away. Stop on the castle walls side for a less crowded lunch. A photo opp outside L'Amiral for Magritte & Dupin mystery fans. It's free to enter the close.

Arrive early to access parking. You can spend hours in the many boutique shops within the walls. It is like a Tardis with a lot more inside than you would have thought. Lots of shops, Cafes, and a Museum all within the walls. Enjoy the Celtic Bretagne folk music that is often played within the walls. Outside the town has many attractions too with lovely waterfront Restaurants and seafront walks. Fab place to visit.

Camping Les Sables Blancs is a picturesque campground offering a variety of accommodation options including pitches and mobile homes. The site boasts a heated pool, a restaurant with ocean views, and access to the famous Les Sables Blancs beach known for its pristine sand and clear waters. Additionally, visitors can enjoy water activities at the nearby nautical base such as sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding, or surfing. Guests have praised the helpful reception staff and spacious pitches equipped with electricity and water hook-ups.
Outstanding facilities! Seats and paper in the loos and soap and hand dryers and spotlessly clean. Restaurant and pool etc closed in Oct but to be expected. Mature spaces for motorhomes with hedges and water near most sites.

Most expensive hiker pitch on the GR34 so far, yet the worst overall experience. Price does not equal quality of experience. Large pitch, rough ground with only a tiny sliver of flat grass on which to pitch. Bad weather yet the only indoor option apart from spending €s in their restaurant was to use the laundry room, or so i was told. I kid you not. No tables or chairs offered. Cramped bathroom facilities where you have to put up with the trumpeting sound of old digestive systems erupting en masse in the morning.

Good pitches for campervans, etc. Good facilities but restaurant & take away pizza closed at end September. Lovely pool.

Third visit to this wonderful campsite. Good sized pitches. Swimming pool and free jacuzzi (need to book a time slot). Restaurant with great views across the bay. Very good sanitary facilities. Just a 20 min walk into town along footpaths and old railway tracks (now foot and cycle paths)

Really nice site with a warm welcome in English which was good. Pitches a good size (but don't forget your chocks) The facilities were clean and looked very new, showers nice and hot and the loos had seats and paper. Really nice swimming pool which when we were there was used well but plenty of room to actually swim, plenty of sun loungers available. Didn't use the restaurant but looked really nice with a wonderful view. Walk into town was about 15 - 20 minutes and really worth it to see the old walled island. Beach only 5 minutes away as well. Would recommend.

Le Comptoir is a trendy establishment with exposed brick walls and a spacious terrace, offering tapas, mussels, burgers, and pizza. It has gained popularity for being open when many other places are closed. During the summer months, service can be a bit slow due to the large number of patrons. However, customers have consistently expressed satisfaction with the quality of the food, beverages, and service provided. The portion sizes are just right and desserts are particularly enjoyable.
We enjoyed our meals here, we had fish and chips. Everything was freshly prepared. The service was also good.

I have been going here for almost 3 years and the bathrooms are horrible. What the hell is the owner thinking? Is he or she stupid? Pick up the phone and call a plumber. What is wrong with you ?? Your sales seem to be excellent so spend your money and fix the bathroom. It literally gets worse every time I go there. You closed to rearrange the bar. Why don’t you close and fix the bathrooms?? Is your house like this?? No?? Then, why is your restaurant like this ?? I like all the servers and the kitchen makes really good food. I have no complaints about them.

A wonderful experience in a wonderful place. So easy to get to Concarneau from where we were staying in Quimper by bus. (Translated by Google) The reputation of the walled town of Concarneau is well established. The life of the ramparts is magnificent, the old town well preserved and beautiful shops for our purses. So what more can we do? A guided tour of course! We took the keys to the walled city without regrets. A smiling and inexhaustible guide on his subject. We would like to stay longer with him and ask a thousand questions but... it's time to eat, for him and for us! Here's to the good cakes and thank you again for this great time.
