The Musée de Nuits-Saint-Georges, located in a former wine cellar, offers free admission as part of the town's commitment to making history and museums accessible to everyone. The museum showcases a wide range of artifacts, including Roman objects and medieval items, providing insights into the town's past and the broader Burgundy region. Additionally, it houses archaeological collections from discoveries at the Bolards site and features remarkable Merovingian furniture found during excavations in the Nuits area.
(Translated by Google) The Nuits-Saint-Georges Museum, housed in a former private mansion, is a place where local history is revealed with simplicity. Its rooms bring together archaeological remains, sacred art objects, paintings, and testimonies of daily life. Each room tells the story of a part of the region, from its Gallo-Roman roots to its winemaking tradition. We wander through it as if in a shared memory, between ancient stones and discreet lights, and we leave with the impression of having touched the soul of Burgundy. I'll come back with more time. Especially since the staff is available to transmit their culture and their passion. And what's more, entry was free... during the holidays it's nice too. Domaine Romanée Conti is a dream destination for wine enthusiasts, located north of Nuits-Saint-Georges in the renowned Burgundy region. The area boasts a long string of red grand crus, including Romanee-Conti and Chambertin. Visitors can enjoy the picturesque vineyards and may even have the chance to meet local experts and experience the charming atmosphere.
Yes, you will just see their vineyard, and that's it... but as a wine lover, that's no way to miss this opportunity.
Douglas C — Google review
"Those people are mean. I asked for 50 bottles of Romanée-Conti out of the 450 they had, and they refused to sell it, saying someone had reserved it—it turned out to be some rich guy. I had no choice but to hang my head low and cry in silence. It's just not fair, especially considering how expensive it is at auction."

Despite its longstanding fame, the vineyard is reserved and unassuming. The contrast between the seeming humility of the land and the spectacular pomp surrounding its wine adds a layer of depth and complexity to the natural beauty of the landscape.
John C — Google review
Beautiful sweet smells and great atmosphere with great wine very expensive great wine under the 3k a bottle I pay in America though... France is beautiful in August suggest it to anyone and especially Domaine Romanée-Conti wonderful time, wonderful people, beautiful women, cool guys... Visiting is worth the cost of you got it do it if you don't get it for real

The Chateau du Clos de Vougeot is a castle that was constructed by Cistercian monks in the 12th century, and although it wasn't completed until the Renaissance, it still provides a glimpse into that time period. Wine cellars, original wine presses and vat houses are just some of the historical features on display at this museum-like attraction. The famous "clos" produced wine for these monks centuries ago and now has been divided into smaller parcels for modern production.
Working as a wedding & events photographer, I have had the chance to photograph in the most prestigious castle in Burgundy "The Clos Vougeot" a building full of history & traditions, guarded by the brotherhood of "The Knights of the Tastevin" The receptionist do a great job, specially the young man. It can be visited over the day and also the venue can host events on weddings. Great place to host the cocktail and dinner for your wedding, not far from the church local churches and city town halls if you get married locally. The most beautiful & prestigious vineyard in Burgundy & the world!

An incredible area, the testimony of a heritage, that of the Burgundian monastic orders. A real embassy for Burgundy around the world, dedicated to fantastic wines and gastronomy. You can eat there at La Table de Leonce, discovering the talent of the Chef Alexandra Bouvret. Currently and until next April, there is an exhibition celebrating Brillat-Savarin, a fine gastronome and renowned culinary author. You need to go and Visit this particular castle if you search to understand the burgundy and French history and soul ! You will be delighted !

Wine growing area. Burgundy wine is a UNESCO recognized brand. It is processed and produced here
Asoegwu G — Google review
We paid €12 per person to enter... a quite small exhibition. There were 10-15 points of interest, but only the gigantic medieval grape presses were actually worth seeing (I include a picture in this review so you don't have to go yourself). English information was lacking throughout, the leaflet seemed to number the exhibits out of order with the reality. We would not go again. The castle itself is situated in a beautiful area and the drive there was really nice! We should have gone for a walk around on the outside instead.

Le Cassissium, located in Nuits-Saint-Georges's eastern outskirts, is a must-visit for black currant enthusiasts. The area is home to two artisanal cassis makers, offering workshops and tastings. Visitors can also explore the Romanesque church of Saint Symphorium and the Le Cassissium Museum, as well as learn about wine production at L'Imaginarium.
Be sure to try tasting the currant liqueur. And be sure to try tasting a fifteen percent liqueur and a twenty percent liqueur to understand how much better the 20% tastes and is richer. The price difference is small. If you've ever been to a winery and taken a tour, then a tour is not necessary. Only if you really want it. We love excursions so we visited here. The production of currant liqueur in such quantity and quality is definitely one of a kind. So if you are in the region, be sure to visit. I liked the service.

Did a cocktail making class with them during the off season. They were very nice to accommodate us even though nothing was scheduled. We had a great time tasting the various liquors then made a nice cocktail none of us had tried before. All in all a great experience and we all left with bottles and memories.

Super friendly staff who were very accommodating. We speak English but managed to join the French tour (so we didn't miss out) and were provided with English text and on the side help from our friendly tour guide who did speak English. It was a great tasting and very informative and interactive.

Really interesting tour, with a complete tasting of the products at the end, the guide Aurore was extremely friendly and helpful.
Leonardo B — Google review
A 'must see' attraction for the family. Plenty of free parking, and wheel chair friendly entrance at La Cassissium. The wonderful smells of fruit fill the factory. Huge fruit pressed, mega barrels, bigger than a swimming pool with special fruity drinks maturing. Fun for kids too with lots of drawers to open, test-tubes of fruit syrups, bugs that live on fruit. The fun was trying the different flavours in the bar guided by Auroare, who knew everything about fruity drinks!
Stuart B — Google review
Excellent museum about the history of cassis and black currant production. Exquisite design, helpful employees and the opportunity to taste-test sirups after the tour. Well-sorted shop with all 49 produced sirups besides the cassis, some of them difficult to find elsewhere. Recommended!
Erik K — Google review
Lots of drinks to try and they’re all good! The personnel were knowledgeable of their products and there is a wide selection of those as well.

Our family of 5 had an enjoyable time at Le Cassissium. Although we missed out on the tour, we had a splendid Cassis liquor tasting experience thanks to our host, Jules. Jules was fluent in English and knowledgeable as he answered our many questions. He was also very friendly and enthusiastically introduced us to different combinations of blackcurrant/ cassis liquours. Thanks very much Jules!

Nestled in the heart of Vougeot, this historic cellar exudes elegance and refinement. Visitors can enjoy tasting 5 prestige wines while learning interesting facts about Bourgogne wines. Loved the prestige tour and the tasting of 5 really great wines (mostly 1er cru!). Had a nice guided tour by David and the cave has a great selection from 6 producers under same ownership. I’d recommend it, and I’d even come back for the shop.

We had a great visit at La Grande Cave de Vougeot. Our guide was very cheerful, and knowledgeable! She took the time to explain a lot of things about the beautiful region of Burgundy and its fine wine. Highly recommend!
Alison A — Google review
We loved our tasting here. Thanks to Pierre-Yves - he had extensive knowledge and was so lovely and patient with all our questions. We learnt so much which was handy as it was our first stop, so we felt well equipped to continue our tastings at other places. The caves were interesting too, definitely worth visiting!!
Alexis C — Google review
Very poor experience. €48 for two people which included a rushed tour and a sampling of five wines which took less than 30 minutes. Not even close to the experience that should be provided at that price point. This is particularly evident when other places offer free or very affordable tastings and tours. To top it off, there is no bathroom for patrons. A true disappointment.
Jerry — Google review
We visited this shop last year and received a very friendly and welcoming reception. The staff let us taste some wines before making our decision, which meant we could bring home bottles that really suited our preferences. This year, we decided to drive from Besançon again to stock up for the winter and looked forward to the same great experience. Unfortunately, we were disappointed this time. There were no tastings offered at all, and when we asked about something similar to what we had purchased last year, we were given a different wine to taste that didn’t really match our taste. When we asked if there were any other options to try, we were told “we can’t open every bottle,” and that was that. In the end, we bought two bottles of the recommended wine but felt that next time we might as well shop at a supermarket, since we cannot properly evaluate the wines here anymore. Perhaps it was different staff member last year who provided such good service, but unfortunately we do not see ourselves returning again. We truly enjoyed the visit last year, but it seems things have changed. A shame.

Just 10 minutes from the Route des Grands Crus and 15 minutes from Nuits Saint Georges, the château is a magnificent setting for a reception. The grounds and terrace are perfect for a rustic cocktail party; we highly recommend this Entre Deux Monts location. Visitors can delve into the world of Burgundy's terroirs and grape flavor profiles through informative presentations and tastings. The warm welcome and insightful presentation make it an ideal starting point for exploring the various Domaines in the area.
A must visit on any Nuits Saint George itinerary. Jeannette will guide you with an education about the region. She’s extremely knowledgeable and able to tailor her approach to any guest. We were extremely pleased with the wines as well. We recommend visiting Clos du Vougeot before your visit. It’s a wonderful way to have some additional knowledge of the area and respect for the thousand years of winemaking in behind the wines you will experience here.

Had a wonderful time at a Maison Vougeot which is two steps away from the vineyard. It's the boutique of the Maisons Jean-Claude Boisset and JCB. The hostess took a lot of time to explain the particularities of Burgundy, its terroirs and its grapes flavor profiles. At the end of the explanation we had a tasting of their wines, they have a points system to chose the wines you want to test which is really well done. I choose to indulge in their best wines. Overall, really recommend going there!

Spent the day at this beautiful Domaine for the Tour de France Time Trials '24 😍. The hosts were amazing, the wine superb and the setting magnificent. We had the best platform view of the start where we could watch while sipping our wine!! The Domain grounds are huge, speckled with huge trees, lawns and shaded chairs and tables to enjoy your wine in a natural setting if you wish... Highly recommended 👌🥂🍇

Jean Morin Stadium is a beautiful and well-organized sports venue that offers a great atmosphere for both players and supporters. Despite the possibility of cold weather, the spectacle of the game makes it worth experiencing. The facilities including changing rooms and showers are top-notch, making it perfect for visitors. Although the stadium can get crowded on Sundays, creating a lively atmosphere, it's unfortunate when the weather doesn't cooperate. They carry wines from the local area and have some bottles open for tasting. The gentleman who worked there was not all that helpful, however. We only bought some wine because we liked them.
Cheryl S — Google review
The store represents 12 producers, so we thought it would be a good place to taste a variety of wine. Unfortunately, the person in the store said only two wines were open and would not open anymore. We wanted to buy a large amount of wine and were willing to spend hundreds of euros. We didn't due to the lack of tasting and the uninterested attitude of the staff. I would recommend going to le bons plans du vin, ten minutes away as the choice is greater and prices are much cheaper. One of the tastings was of a 127 euro bottle, which le bons plans had for 87!

Feedback on my visit to the Caveau des vignerons in Morey-Saint-Denis : One of the big challenge of burgundy is to find the stock when you are around due to the specificities of this region (clos/parcelle etc) : so you can literally go by Les Grèves or Les Toussaints and you are in the middle of the wineyard … nowhere to buy 😂😂 So 15 years ago 12 of the top vignerons of the Cote de Nuits team up to create a Caveau des vignerons in Morey Saint Denis just few meters from Clos du Tart and Clos des Lambrays. I had the chance to pass by and talked with Tanguy (he knows his stuff … big time) and Tatiana. I spent 2.5 hours to share, discuss the vinifaction process of each and every vigneron, tasted some of wines & even met the vigneron from Oudoul-Coquard who was dropping his Gevreys and Moreys from 2019 It's better to write in advance cause hours can change Bottom line : super experience, prices are the one of the domains and you can even find Clos des Lambrays for those who want the 1% of burgundy lol

My girlfriend and I went for a a classic wine tasting which ended in a purchase. The wines are diverse, good and very reasonable priced. We were particular fond of the white wines they offered us. During the tasting we were guided very well by the daughter of the owner and Nathalie. Our French is very rusty so it was also hugely appreciated that Nathalie spoke perfect English. The winery tour was extremely informative and engaging and the wines that we tasted were excellent. Domaine Henri Gouges is known for producing a small amount of white Nuits-Saint-Georges, which is less than two percent of their total production. Unlike others who use chardonnay, pinot blanc, and pinot beurot, they make it from a mutated pinot noir that produces white grapes.

We had an outstanding wine tasting experience here. Raphael was the perfect host—extremely knowledgeable yet warm and approachable, creating an atmosphere where we never felt rushed. His ability to explain the complexities of Burgundy with both depth and clarity (in great English) was very helpful as it was our first time visiting the area. The wines themselves were remarkable—layered, elegant, and a true expression of top-quality Burgundy. We highly recommend opting for the tasting of six wines, which was thoughtfully curated to showcase different vintages and climats, including the flagship Saint-Georges. The tasting room is beautiful and set on a quaint little street, which added to the experience. What really stood out was how thoroughly Raphael explained the Domaine’s history, using detailed maps and vineyard photos—we’ve never seen another producer have that quality of footage, and it made the wines come alive in a new way. Overall, this was a first-class Burgundy tasting, and we’d recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

(Translated by Google) The tasting in the cellar was really high level, with well presented and excellent quality wines. Unfortunately, the experience was partly compromised by the moment of sale: we were offered bottles of different vintages than those tasted, with an evident qualitative gap to our disadvantage. Tasting a 5-star vintage and being offered a less expressive version, without any transparency on the change, left a negative impression. A shame, because the potential and quality are there.

(Translated by Google) Speaking of Monopole wine, in my time there was only Clos de Tar, and it was quite difficult to find a good one in Kanazawa, a regional city. Well, that was in the mid-1990s, before the turn of the century, when I happened to find a bottle in the wine section of a local department store and bought it for the first time. The reason I never bought it again was because I was disappointed by the poor quality of the wine. Of course, I didn't drink it alone, but about a month after I bought it, I gathered some wine friends and opened it at a wine bar. ・Everyone was excited and looking forward to being able to taste the tar, but as a Burgundy fan, the result was truly disastrous, and instead of opening, it kept closing, and as a Burgundy fan, I had no choice but to judge it as bad rather than worse. Many years have passed since then, and now, more than 20 years have passed, Clos de Tart is still available at the Enoteca Yamato store in the local city of Kanazawa, but I don't buy it.Also, I was surprised by the recent wine news that it was acquired by Château Latour, but I'm not disappointed. My only regret is that I feel like Bordeaux's financial capitalism mindset is finally starting to influence the traditional flow of time in Burgundy, which is a bit of a shame.

The best tasting we have had in our time in Burgundy! So friendly and happy to share his love of wine with us. His English is also excellent which made it easy as we do not speak French. Generous, lovely and most importantly excellent wine. Ranging from Bourgogne all the way to Grand Cru. Well worth a detour if you are in the area! We would love to come back again.

Domaine des Loups is an absolute gem amongst the wineries around Nuits Saint Georges. A small family run producer of excellent pinot noir, and a delicious chardonnay, at an affordable level to rival some of the more famous big houses. I highly recommend a visit, and you will come away satisfied, for sure. Tres bien Guillaume and Eliette, and I wish you future success with this quality of Bourgogne wines!

No warning about facilities malfunction before entry. We stood in the dark listened for pure audio for at least half an hour. Wine at tasting session was told to be a week old with only vacuum preservation. Either they were preserved badly or they were not a good selection. Reflected to the staff she said it’s normal and she could do nothing. Total waste of time, not recommended for tourists.

This is the worst wine experience I had in France. I took a sommelier course in Bordeaux and I had WSET 3. I am working in the wine industry. I have been to different wine regions in France to learn about wines before, Bordeaux, Chateauneuf-du-pape, and other Southern Rhône Valley regions, Chablis, Bandol, Provence, etc, this is the first time my friends and I were so disappointed. It was a waste of time! Strongly not recommended for tourists and any wine lovers. 1. Non-functional display room and exhibition items There were three display rooms telling the history of Burgundy wine, however, there was one totally out of order, and we were forced to stay in the darkness seeing nothing with some recording sounds for around 15 minutes. They informed us one part of the exhibition was not working very well but didn't tell us we had to stay in the darkness for that long. Moreover, in the museum about the winemaking of Champagne, some of the display screens and exhibition games were broken. 2. Unprofessional staff The staff did the wine tasting with us was very unprofessional. First of all, she couldn't speak any English. If they failed to explain anything during the tasting in English, they had better inform us at the beginning, as 4 out of 5 in my group are English speakers. Moreover, the price of the tickets (25 euros per person) was not cheap, we expected them to give us some useful introduction about the wines the terroir, and the difference among the wines. At a place for wine tourism, I don't think this is acceptable. We went to a museum to learn something but in the end, we learned nothing. 3. Spoiled wine samples for tasting!!! The most terrible thing came. We tasted 5 wines. 4 of them tasted stale. The staff told us that some bottles were opened for one week and one for 4 days. They were opened way too long. The acidity of the wine was too sharp in an unpleasant way. The wine tasted too oxidized. The mousse of the crémant of Bourgogne we tasted lost. It tasted so flat. The staff insisted that their wines were okay after one week of opening even after we complained about the wines. We spend 25 euros per person not to taste some spoiled wine, please! We were awfully disappointed with the wines and service. They wasted the wine and our time.
Yani C — Google review
Definitely not what I expected, it was even better. The tour through the three rooms of history was completely in German and we learned a lot of things. You really can see and feel they took their time and put a lot of love and fun in it. The wine tasting was also very pleasing. We had five wines, one sparkling, two whites and two reds. She gave us all of the information we needed and took time to explain, answer questions and talk to us. Can’t relate to the bad reviews, especially if you complained about standing during the tasting, don’t be lazy (except the handicapped obviously) Highly recommend the place.

(Translated by Google) The Imaginarium and we had a great time. The tour route is really very well designed: a magnificent immersive circuit with light shows, image projections and characters who tell the story of vines and wine in a lively and captivating way. The collection presented is rich, with beautiful pieces and clear explanations of the difficulties encountered at the time and the solutions provided over time. Even for people who don't know much about it, everything remains very understandable and accessible. At the end of the visit, we were treated to a tasting of a crémant, a white wine and a red — a real pleasure to conclude the experience. Small downside: at certain times, the sound is a little weak, which can make it difficult to hear all the explanations. But this in no way spoils the quality of the visit. I highly recommend this experience to all curious people and wine lovers! Had a great tasting! We were asked about any preferences at first and we mentioned some styles we had tried and liked, also in terms of ratio of white and red was totally up to us, so it felt like a tasting for wine enthusiasts. Afterwards, I had some other bottles I wanted to try and it was no problem. Very nice experience, highly recommended!

Decent wine tasting for the price (12€/person). Staff tried their best but lacked deep knowledge. Some enjoyable wines to sample. Bottle prices higher than expected, not true "direct from producer" rates. Overall, an okay experience if you're looking for a basic tasting in Bourgogne.

My husband had looked at all the local wine tasting spots in Nuits Saint Georges and said Moillard had one of the best ratings, so we went. We were met by Celine who was so helpful and lovely. Her English was great. She helped us choose which wines to taste and how many! She explained everything about the grapes and the different soils, the different wines and their flavours. Then we had a little tour to the tanks where the wine is fermented and then to the cave where the wine was stored in the barrels. She fielded so many questions from us, it was fascinating. We loved it and the wine was sensational. Sadly we are cycling from dijon to maçon and don't have room for any wine but we would highly recommend the wine and the tour to others.

TL;DR: don’t go here if you can help it, the woman selling wine is rude, go straight to the vineyards instead We went into this place because we had been walking for a while in the heat (and some of the other caves were closed). It did give us refuge from the heat, but when we tried our first wine and went to spit, the woman told us that we shouldn’t spit when wine tasting in France. We were taken aback, as we have done many tastings over many years in France where everyone (including the French winemakers) would spit, but thanked her anyway to be polite. Perhaps it’s a local custom? But we were given the impression that she either doesn’t know very much about wine or she was specifically trying to embarrass us (I would assume because we’re American tourists, but who knows). After all, spitting can actually be important for the tasting. She also pressured us to buy multiple bottles from the start, and when we said we were unsure she basically scoffed at us. The place itself was fine, and the wine was good, but the woman selling the wine made it our worst experience in Burgundy.

The man was very rude, telling us not to come to Bourgogne if you can't pay for the wine. Will never spend money on his wine
Ash 8 — Google review
Says wine tasting on sign, does not do tastings and quite rude about it.

We were greeted by a very nice and welcoming lady. Even though it's harvest time she took the time to let us taste a few wines and gave us some tips to do in the region. We're very happy to go home with 2 great wines. Thank you again for taking the time and the hospitality!

Absolutely amazing experience. I had the best degustation in my life. Winery is very open and tour in English was not formal: visiting property woih exokanation of all the processes and then rich degustation. And whatbis nice if you buy wine then degustation is for free. So highly recommended and worh comming back. Special thankx to Laurent, he is wonderful and very passionate guide!

We had a great time and really enjoyed our wine tasting. We were a group of 8 adults and 1 baby, and were warmly welcomed by Manuel Olivier's team. They were very accommodating and attentive. We had a private wine tasting in the air conditioned 'degustation' room, and this is easily accessible with a buggy. Our host was very knowledgeable about everything - the region, the wine making process, the types of grape/vine, and of course all the wines. We got to try lots of different wines, including red, white, rose, sparkling and even a grand cru. Afterwards, we ordered what we wanted, and then this was packed and taken to our cars for us. Absolutely brilliant experience, and we didn't even book in advance. Would highly recommend, and more so than some of the other bigger and more commercial places nearby.

Great wines for all budgets. The vineyard proposes traditional methods with an innovative twist which makes high quality wines that age well. Thomas gave us the grand tour and took time to explain everything about the domain and it’s products. Highly recommend this hidden gem. 👍

(Translated by Google) 🇩🇪My brother, who works in the wine trade, has often accused me of looking more at the labels of well-known wineries when trying to buy good wine instead of looking intensively at the other producers in the relevant region, who offer very good to excellent quality at moderate prices . I am therefore very grateful to him for giving me the tip before my first trip to Burgundy (2013) to arrange a rendezvous with ALAIN BRUNE in Nuits-Saint-George, who fully meets the aforementioned criteria. Since then I have been his regular customer and look forward to the detailed wine tastings every time I visit, where he presents and explains the current vintages from his entire program. White wine: The Chardonnay is of consistent quality and impresses with its density, calcareous mineral structure and fine aromas. It is one of my favorite wines to pair with fish and seafood. Very good price/performance ratio. Alain also used to have a Meursault in his program, which I miss very much. Red wine: The red wines have a long shelf life, are gentle on the palate and impress with a seductively structured body, depth in the finish and an open-minded aroma (including black berries, sandalwood, licorice notes). This year I chose the promising 2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges and 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin.
