Museum
History Museums
The Zuiderzeemuseum, located in Enkhuizen, Netherlands, is a unique indoor and outdoor museum that showcases the area's sea-based economy, ships, and ways of life. The museum commemorates the 19th-century fishing-based industry that was vital to the coastal towns before the transformation of the Zuiderzee into the freshwater IJsselmeer in 1932.
Dutch open air museum , nicely done to show how dutch people live in the past. Many activities for kids. Have cafe and small shops. Can be here all day.
Onsiri N — Google review
A terrific experience, both indoors and out. The level of investment and care are reflected in the impressive scale and quality of the exhibits. Most of the signage included English and German. Definitely worth a day trip from Amsterdam.
Dave C — Google review
Well-maintained folk museum. Structures are beautiful and interesting. Don’t skip anything as it’s all good. Also, town of Enkhuizen is charming and laid back. Experince exceeded expectations.
Aly W — Google review
The museum would take you back into the time of 1920’s living in Netherland coast town after the dike were built which was a fishing village are turned into. It is accessible by the ferry boat from the museum parking lot or at the ticket booth near the train station if you are coming by trains. The ticket is &21 euros which includes the both to and from ferry rides! You need about lease two hours to walk the entire outdoor museum. There are blacksmith shop and laundry shop which powered by a coal burning boiler machine that turning all the washing machines. It is a great place to take your young kids to visit they can let loose and enjoy the day.
Steven C — Google review
Fantastic step back in time. Incredible that all of the buildings were moved there from other places and rebuilt into the village it is today. Each home had its own story so you need time to appreciate it. Tried freshly smoked makerel, traditional sweets and interactive exhibits. So much to see and do. Highly recommend
Camille T — Google review
A very beautiful open-air museum that has plenty to offer for adults and for kids. You  walk inside in many of the buildings and, depending on what’s on offer, see how people used to live. Here and there, people are cooking or making tea. You can watch rope makers, sail makers, carvers, blacksmiths, and laundresses at work. There’s also a lot you can do with children. Building a boat out of clogs, or make your own soap. Some activities cost a small extra fee. We had a great day, and the six hours we spent in the museum went by very quickly. We took the ferry from Parkeerplaats Sluisweg to the museum. There’s plenty of food and drink in the park. The fish at the smokehouse is highly recommended. It's worth buying tickets online in advance; they're significantly cheaper than at the box office. We saved almost €4, which almost covered the cost of our €7 parking ticket.
A. H — Google review
Outdoor museum with a lot of variety, recreating the village experience of a Zuiderzee fishing village across various time periods. There’s also a West Frisian hut hidden in the nature preserve area with a knowledgeable local guide/interpreter whose expertise is in the Bronze Age tools and ways of living, like animal husbandry. Also, in the village, at the fish smoker you can try their traditionally smoked salmon, mackerel or herring. You can walk to the museum from the Enkhuizen train station.
Anthony W — Google review
It was a great experience. At first we thought the prices were a little bit high, but in the end was a great place and worth every cent. We were really happy. Thanks a lot.

Theme park
Water & Amusement Parks
Sprookjeswonderland is an amusement park designed for young children, featuring enchanting fairytale-themed rides and attractions. The park brings famous fairy tales to life, allowing visitors to explore scenes such as Sleeping Beauty's bed chamber and a charming gnome village. In addition to the magical settings, there are also activities like a mini train, petting zoo, carousels, beautifully landscaped gardens, and a playground.
Lovely place for young children. Despite the rain, there were enough indoor activities to keep us busy. The park was very quiet, which made it feel like we had it all to ourselves. A charming and stress-free day out.
Alvaro L — Google review
We visited Sprookjeswonderland in Enkhuizen on a Saturday with the whole family. It’s a charming theme park, clearly designed with young kids in mind—I'd say perfect up to about 7 or 8 years old. The whole place is inspired by fairy tales and the magical world, and it really creates that feeling of wonder that little ones love. Even though it was quite crowded (weekend vibes!), the experience was still very enjoyable. Lines were short, which was a pleasant surprise. I definitely recommend booking tickets in advance—not just to avoid queues at the entrance, but also because it’s cheaper online. Free parking just outside also helps make the visit smooth. All in all, a great spot to spend the day if you want your kids to have fun in a park that’s truly made for them.
Attila B — Google review
Great place especially for families with toddlers. Prices are generally good in comparison with other amusement parks. The only reason they loose one star is because of some animals shouldn't be there. I don't agree with zoo parks generally.
Sotos — Google review
What a beautiful place! We went with our 2 and 6 year old and it was perfect! No scary rides. The queues are not insanely long. We went during the April break and kids had so much fun. The rides were fun for both adults and kids and also there’s a massive playground with lots of rides, obstacle course, farm, maze and so much more. Absolutely loved it and had a fun day as a family.
Shruti K — Google review
Great amusement park with lots of attractions which are suitable for toddlers and older kids (you can check out the map of the park). Besides the attractions, there is a nice boerderij/farm and a huge playground. We have visited the location with a 2.5 and a 3.5 years old. They both had so much fun! There are also multiple cafes across the location, so you can have breaks every once in a while. I advise getting the tickets beforehand because there was a line at the ticket booth. As for the waiting time for the attractions: we generally did not wait too long. There is almost no waiting time for the ferris wheel and the trains, and around 15 minutes for the (toy) car and (toy) pony rides. I would advise to have your stroller with you (if applicable) as the park is quite large and it might be tiring for small ones to wander around. You can park your stroller in front of each attraction (pls see the photos uploaded by me)
Seyma S — Google review
We went here as two families. It’s only 45 minute drive from Amsterdam. The park is reasonably priced. After entry there is little to no extra cost. There are plenty of places to get snacks, food and drinks. The venue is picturesque and great for photos and for the young children to play and have fun. Highly recommended especially if you have young children. Parking was free too
Danny L — Google review
Sprookjeswonderland is an absolute gem for families with young children! The fairy tale theme is charming, nostalgic, and so well done. Every corner feels magical. The park is clean, beautifully maintained, and not overwhelmingly large, which makes it perfect for a relaxed day out. You can also follow us to discover more family-friendly outings. The Flessenscheepjes Museum, located in a 17th-century house, showcases an extensive collection of ships in bottles from various eras, including the VOC era. Visitors can learn about the intricate process of creating these miniature marvels through an interesting video and admire the craftsmanship and patience involved. The museum offers a unique experience for ship enthusiasts and history buffs alike. Additionally, it is housed in a historic building that adds to its charm.
A lovely small museum. The lady was friendly and informative. You can also find nice souvenirs here for ships lovers. You can expect to spend around 30 minutes - 1 hours here depending on your own pace.
Irwan J — Google review
A small museum housed in what used to be the gate of the canal in the past. The museum itself has a large collection of miniature model of ships inside glass bottles. There is also a very interesting video explaining how the artefacts are made - a lot of patience and skill in the making process. The museum is a good place to spend some time and admire the large variety of "ships in bottles"
Saji — Google review
Good museum displaying the art of bottled boats. A small 2 floor museum. If you are interested in arts pls visit this one. If you are not into arts skip it. Courteous and helpful staffs.

Small and cozy. With quite a big collection! You can learn here how they put big ships inside bottles.

Very friendly, video in English. Everything you want to know about ships and other things in bottles. The building is interesting as well.

Cute, but more of a novelty. Wouldn't have gone here if I didn't have the museum card. Outside the museum is a sign with a picture of what's inside. Best to just look at the picture and keep walking. Unless you really like tiny boats in bottles.

The De Zuiderkerk is an impressive historic church that may appear plain on the inside, but distinguishes itself from others by not indulging in opulent gold and marble decorations. Instead, it focuses on serving the community rather than furnishing with luxurious red velvet chairs. This unique approach sets it apart from many other churches of its kind. Moreover, the church serves as a pleasant destination for tourists and doubles as a music venue with good acoustics for singing performances.
Grand old church but pretty plain inside. Not impressed. Actually I am impressed since I have edited this review. How great of a church not to bathe in the lavish gold and marble that adorn the others. Maybe they actually helped the community instead of red velvet chairs. At first I have given this post 2 stars but since reviewed it and made it a 5 star.

The Stadhuis Enkhuizen is an easily recognizable structure in Enkhuizen, a grand edifice dating back to the 16th century. Adorning its facade is a poetic composition by Joost van den Vondel and a captured cannon from Dunkirk pirates. The upper part of the building bears the inscription Candide et Constanter, meaning Fair and Steadfast.

I went to this restaurant on Sunday for lunch. We were four people without booking. They managed to find a spot for us. Really friendly, smiling helpful and professional staff, food was super good. Location is great, beside the water. Also, they have a nice range of vegan food! Dankjewel, We zullen terug komen!

Came here for dinner with a big group. I had some borrel platter with various meats which was big and overall pretty good. Afterwards I had the fish and chips which were alright. No complains, but also nothing spectacular. The location and atmosphere on the terrace is very good. I did not pay myself so I cant comment about the prices.

This restaurant has a fantastic location. Really nice view and ambiance. I am not a fan of Dutch bread and sandwich kind of lunch but I was hungry and what I got was actually quite good. Still find it overall expensive to pay 12 euro for a bit of bread with something but the restaurant is not much more expensive than others. All and all, a good choice for a quick bite.

Restaurant
The Enkhuizer Visafslag is a charming seafood restaurant located in the picturesque harbor area of Enkhuizen, offering a terrace with stunning views of the IJsselmeer. Housed in a historic building that once functioned as a fish auction, it retains many authentic elements from its past. The chef specializes in preparing both local and exotic marine and freshwater fish dishes. Recently renovated, the restaurant exudes a welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff who are dedicated to providing exceptional service.
We had dinner here on a friday night after we arrived in Enkhuizen and Visafslag was exactly what we were looking for-a nice traditional dutch meal in cozy, nostalgic atmosphere. We had fish soup as a starter and we got two spoons as we wanted to share one dish. Afterwards we ordered the fish specialities plate. First, it looked tiny but after finishing we were really satisfied and happy. Also the side salad was perfect, too. There are also vegetarian and vegan options for those who avoid fish. The staff, especially for owner Lajos, was very easy-going and polite, so it like having dinner at a good friend‘s home! Thanks!!

I really enjoyed the cozy outdoor atmosphere, the heaters above and provided blankets made it comfortable even on a chilly evening. We had drinks and shared a few tapas. We had been to the Zuiderzee Museum (great experience btw) in town and wanted to enjoy the sun with a nice beer. We found this place and it was absolutely amazing! We were served by the greatest waiter (the receipt says it was Joris), he was always available when we needed him, he gave great advice and even gave us a tour of the brewery (which is actually in the same building - very cool). He certainly new his stuff, and made the whole experience extraordinary! Strongly recommend to give them a visit - and please drink more than just a pilsner.

I believed that this was once a city gate now turned into a restaurant and bar. But not worth a visit if you are not there to visit the restaurant! The spiral stairs which you can go up for free which will take you nowhere if you’re not there for the event or buying a drink or food! The outside still kinda looks cool but I wish it can be an overlooking area on the top what visitors can get up there to view the city and the port area!

Historical landmark
(Translated by Google) This is the facade of part of the dormitory of the city's former orphanage initially founded in 1551 which gave way to the current orphanage in 1906. The rest of the place is no longer to my knowledge. It's a pretty Rebaissance style facade and is accessible from one of the city's most popular shopping streets. The place is now closed to the public but you can enter the garden through the adjacent museum! Note that the portal is original and dates from the 18th century.
