The Museum of the Mountain West is a fascinating collection of historical artifacts from the western United States, curated by Richard E. Fike. The museum features authentic reconstructions of shops and buildings from an 1800s town, showcasing various aspects of daily life including medical practices, saloons, hotels, schools, residences, and a railroad depot. Visitors can explore a wide array of vintage items such as medical tools, musical instruments, antique furniture and more.
An amazing place - buildings and everyday life items 200-100 years old, gathered for many years with love by a passionate man. The director was so kind to show us through the inside collection, where every little thing had a story to be told. At the end we also got a great restaurant recommendation from a lovely lady runing the place. We spent two hours there, and the time passed super fast. I highly recommend visiting this museum.

We happened to see the historic buildings on our way to black canyon and decided to take a look. We're so glad we stopped by! AMAZING collection. Also dog friendly, leashed. Option to do guided tour or self guided. Guided tour is about 1.5hr, highly recommend! There are artifacts of all kinds guns, apparel, saloons, medical/dentistry, tools, foods, music literally everything. The owner, Mr.Fike, was also there! You will love it
Joanna C — Google review
Passed this on our way down to telluride. Had to stop when we made the trip back toward Denver. Absolutely loved everything! Highly recommend a guided tour, you'll learn a lot and get closer to the buildings/rooms to look around and ask questions. All staff is super friendly, the whole place is also dog friendly so you don't have to leave your pup in the car. Will definitely be back if we make our way through Montrose in the future!
Ethan — Google review
Awesome museum that has several different buildings and artifacts. The owner started collecting artifacts at age 4 and has continued throughout his lifetime. There's so much to see and learn. There are informative signs all over the place to help you understand what you are seeing, and it's packed full of great historical pieces. This is a great treat for locals and tourists alike. June was super helpful, and there were so many great souvenirs at the giftshop. We thought it was cool that Mr. Fike (founder/owner) is there on site and happy to answer any questions you may have. Everyone was so friendly here, and the self guided tour was nice, we would love to come back and do a guided tour. They also do ghost tours and special events like weddings here! We got some really cool solar t-shirts that change color in the sun while we were here too. I highly recommend visiting when you're in the area!
Diana O — Google review
What a hidden, historical gem this museum is! The gentleman who started up this museum has been collecting items starting at the tender age of 4 years old-there's 80 year's worth of collecting to enjoy. We did the self guided tour but will definitely go back for the guided tour. A highly recommended stop off the beaten path!
Cheryl C — Google review
Fantastic tour by local guide . Huge collection of artifacts, learned a lot of history of turn of the century West, and indeed history of American culture.
Peter R — Google review
So many great items to see and you can get a tour guide 👍🏾

A gem of a museum with passionate staff and the Museum Director was there himself! Good way to spend 1.5-2 hours looking around the artefacts. Nice little shop with some vintage items.

The Ute Indian Museum in Montrose is a must-visit for those interested in the history and culture of the Ute Indians. The museum, which was expanded and rebuilt in 2017 with input from the three Ute tribes, offers a journey through centuries of Ute culture. Visitors can explore traditional tools, clothing, and artifacts while learning about how European migration impacted their tribal lands.
Amazing museum with a great gift shop. There's several interactive displays and so much to see. There's a great kid area now and a lot of plants to see along their garden path across the street. There's something here for everyone, and admission is absolutely reasonable.
Diana O — Google review
Truly awesome museum with wonderful videos and displays. The staff was great and you can tell how much pride the tribe has in their museum. We were honored to be able to enjoy it.
Plantation B — Google review
I was surprised that the wife of Ouray I'd actually buried on the grounds of the museum
Donna W — Google review
It's a wonderful museum, so much to see. There are tv"s where you interact with and are able to watch many different things about the Ute tribe of the history and many of things. Many benches to set and take in the views. Outside was also very interesting and informative. A great museum.
D S — Google review
I walk with the dog here in the mornings. Its quiet and peaceful. There is a wooden walkway that leads to the Uncompahgre River. I've spotted cranes, geese and ducks on the river. Lots of people like to start river trips from this spot. On the other side of the road is the museum. The architecture is interesting and the museum has informative displays. Children enjoy exploring the many yurts built on the grounds. There is a trail beyond the grounds that lead to Riverbottom and Cerise Park.
Liisa M — Google review
Great smaller museum telling a history that has been ignored. Recommend a couple hours if you want to watch all videos and read the stories.
K G — Google review
A gem of a museum. This museum was recommended by a local and it did not disappoint. Excellent text and a film described the history of the Ute. I particularly was interested to see an example of a resin coated basket. They have some beautiful clothing on display. There is also an excellent gift store

History Museums
The Montrose County Historical Museum, located in downtown Montrose, Colorado, is a must-visit for those interested in pioneer history and culture. Housed in the former Rio Grande Depot, the museum boasts a fascinating collection of historic artifacts donated by local pioneer families. Visitors can explore exhibits such as the original ticket room and the electric room. Additionally, the museum offers insight into Ute Indian history with its comprehensive collection of Ute artifacts.
Fun museum with a lot of historical artifacts from this area. There's a caboose, cowboy cabin, and family cabin you can explore outside along with a lot of farm equipment, ice harvesting equipment, and informative placards along the way. There's a book just beside the door leading to the outdoor exhibits that tells you about the artifacts you will see outside, just use the corresponding numbers. There is a lot to see inside as well. The lady running the museum is super friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. We also bought a couple of books there and everything was reasonably priced. This museum really packs a lot in and is worth stopping by! $20 admission for 2 adults and student.
Diana O — Google review
Very friendly lady. She was informative, and had a scavenger hunt for my three year old. Two adults and one child cost $20, which sabout average admission in my experience. The museum has two great cabins, a train caboose. Lots of stuff for a smaller to medium museum. Highly recommend this place. And we'll definitely be back.
James A — Google review
A very extensive museum that covers many aspects of Montrose and the surrounding area.
Thomas T — Google review
Wonderful place! Glad I stopped by. Huge selection of artifacts and memorabilia related to the history of the Montrose area, the D&RGW railroad, and life in the late 1800s to early 1900s. Large amount of old farming equipment and even a full sized Union Pacific caboose you can go into. Small fee to get in but worth keeping the place going.
FJX2000 P — Google review
The historical displays here are wonderful. Items have descriptive tags that make each very interesting. The antique farm equipment was outstanding !
Marilyn M — Google review
Nice museum with many interesting exhibits. Definitely worth the modest admission. The knowledgeable staff person was very helpful.
Sid K — Google review

Farmers Markets
The Montrose Farmers Market is a must-visit for anyone in Montrose, offering a wide array of locally-sourced products. From fresh fruits and vegetables to homemade jams, pickles, pies, honey, eggs, cheeses, meats and poultry - there's something for everyone. In addition to edible goods, visitors can also find artisanal crafts and homemade soaps. The market provides a welcoming atmosphere with a homey feel that attracts both locals and tourists alike.
The Montrose Farmers Market is really good. It's small but nice alittle bit of everything. Knife sharpening, jams jellies syrups, baked goods, puppies, fruits and vegetables. Additionally right across the street from Straw Hat Farm Market and Kitchen store which is 5 star all the way. Bake goods cheese quiche and fabulous cinnamon rolls. Get there early they sell out fast. See you Saturday downtown Montrose Colorado.
Cindy W — Google review
Lots of local food products and other vendors. It is worth stopping by!
Shawna W — Google review
Great home town atmosphere, and if you are into supporting local farmers, small business owners, and artisans this is the place. Why just today I was able to pick up a fantastic peach jam and I know where it came from. Although it is relatively small with around 8 to 10 different local companies. I have been looking for a ham bone to made homemade beans from and I have only been able to find some at the market. All of the grocery store in town are sold out or just plan don't have any, probably cause of Covid 19. Thanks to the farmer's market I was able to find them and now I can finally make those beans!!
Jerel H — Google review
The most enjoyable if not the largest farmer's market I have experienced. The produce is fantastic and the high quality meats available are reasonably priced as well as being AMAZING!!!

We had an absolutely amazing time at the farmers market a couple weekends ago. I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to go!

This is a really excellent farmers' market the Western Slope and Western Colorado can be proud of. Open year round, come and support this Saturday market. Open every other week from Thanksgiving until spring.

The Coffee Trader is a locally owned and operated coffee shop with multiple locations in Montrose, Grand Junction, and Gunnison. Established two decades ago in a historic building, it offers a variety of high-quality coffee options such as Traders Blend and Mountain Splendor. For those seeking less caffeine, the Trader Decaffe is a popular choice. In addition to its extensive coffee menu, The Coffee Trader also serves teas, smoothies, and juices.
Loved this place! I stumbled across it while looking for a place to work remotely. Super cute cafe with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Coffee is also really good. Definitely recommend if you are in the area.

Blueberry muffin was VERY good. Highly recommend. The hot chocolate was great and a medium is pretty large. The mocha was okay. Coffee felt a little bitter for me. Service was slow but not a problem really.
Kyle W — Google review
Stopped in while we were in town for a latte and came back later for smoothies. Both were great! Staff was friendly and provided great service.
Sabrina L — Google review
Passing by Montrose and getting coffee bright and early 6:35 am , this place just opened. Quaint cute repurpose home as Coffee place. The guy was very friendly. Our large latte was delicious, smooth espresso. Also purchased banana walnut muffin that was still slightly warm, a tiny bit underbaked but it could be just a one off day and it’s still delicious.

I was recently passing through Montrose and needed a cozy place to take handle some computer work. The staff was very kind, and welcoming! I had a refreshing mango, strawberry smoothie and tasty coffee. When I packed up to leave, I forgot my computer charger plugged into the wall... I called the next morning and their staff had set it aside, I spoke directly with Dee who was friendly enough to handle this and ship my charger to me immediately. Some establishments can't be bothered to do anything outside of the norm, I appreciate the human kindness! Anytime I am passing through Montrose they can expect to see me at this coffee shop. Thanks again!
Caleb R — Google review
A nice place to stop for coffee. Relaxed atmosphere, good coffee and treats. Nicely restored old home right on main street. Outdoor seating if you wish or there is also seating upstairs. Grab a bag of coffee to go! Staff was friendly and the drinks served quickly.
Max W — Google review
It’s hard for me to find a great coffee place that has a good selection of sugar-free syrup. Or really any place that has more than just SF Vanilla. I found this place on a road trip through the mountains. The staff were very friendly and made me feel like a local. But more importantly, the coffee was amazing. I got a Sugar Free Irish Cream Latte and it was everything I ever could’ve wanted. I can’t recommend this place enough! Give it a visit if you’re driving through the area. You won’t regret it.
Ty L — Google review
Coffee was really bad for our taste, the “sandwich” is an industrial microwaved bun served in a plastic container…. The person behind the counter was really nice, but i’m afraid it’s not enough.

Gardens
Montrose Botanic Gardens is a surprising oasis in the high-desert community of Montrose, featuring lush 3.5-acre gardens with a colorful promenade and native plants. Despite the challenging climate, the garden thrives with themed areas such as the Entry Garden, Promenade, Xeriscape Garden showcasing Colorado's endemic plants, Rock and Crevice Gardens, Cactus/Succulent Gardens, and Valley Garden.
Pretty gardens with informative markers about the plants and displays. There are many benches and picnic tables to rest at along with an easy path to follow to see all the sights. There's a children's garden with a book trail and a cute gnome home. It's free to visit (donate if you can) and very well maintained.
Diana O — Google review
Many beautiful plants. With a walking story book, fairy houses, and trinkets for the kids to find as well as a sensory garden, this place was very delightful for the whole family. We noticed plenty of seats in the cooling shade of trees. This would be a great place to read a book.
Marcia H — Google review
Great place to wander around and look at various plants, grasses and trees that grow well in the local climate. Paths are well maintained and many volunteers put in countless hours of labor to maintain and upgrade the gardens. The Christmas time event with horse drawn wagons, lights and a visit from Santa was well received by those that braved the cold weather. Well worth the trip.
Paul G — Google review
A beautiful haven of flowers, rocks, and greenery for the community. Between the trowels and volunteers working hard in the garden, you have the opportunity to observe a wide variety of flowers and shrubs across different "environments." An excellent place to take a stroll, and see and smell some fauna. (The place is free as well, and accepts donations!)
Rowan — Google review
Decided to check it out and its a cute little spot, wish the fountains were running, great landscaping and everything is well maintained. They just need a little food truck there and more seating, as it would be nice to grab a coffee meet a friend there or a snack as the environment is very inviting and zen. The entire property is clean amd very well maintained, these guys do great job making it remain clean and well kept as many people trash it, but the next day its already picked up. Some dedicated people there
Steven G — Google review
Absolutely beautiful garden in Montrose. Free (please donate!) and open dawn to dusk. I saw one family in the several hours I spent here. It is beautifully laid out and maintained with helpful suggestions throughout about xeriscaping. They have sections for cacti, drought-resistant plants, shade loving plants, grasses, herbs and more. This is a wonderful place to escape and spend a few hours in search of beauty. Highly recommended

Bodies of Water
Nestled within Riverbottom Park, Montrose Water Sports Park offers a thrilling aquatic adventure for all ages and skill levels. The park boasts six drop structures, perfect for leisurely family kayaking amidst natural obstacles. For those new to kayaking, there's a wading area and beach, as well as a terraced spectator spot for dry-footed enjoyment. This expansive water park is part of the Baldridge Regional Park complex and features ADA-friendly amenities.
I loves this place! While we have duckies to float, the water was a little chilly to spend much time in without wetsuits (which we did not bring on this trip). There is an excellent put-in for small boats, and you can run at least six play ways. The first two are a little strong, but I would not consider any of them dangerous. Would love to know if anyone is body surfing, or swimming them. Looks like a great place to train. Ride the water to the end, and have a short walk back.

Such an amazing park!! Montrose is lucky to have this great park, it has a dog park, water play area in the river and you are able to walk around here and have pick nics here as well. Play area for kiddos. The area is clean and well kept. Lots of parking available. Please drive slow when you arrive! As there are kids and pets at play. Biking area, you name it. Fun park! Oh and wifi!

This is probably our favorite park in Montrose. It's clean, has a nice new bathroom facility and usually has working water fountians they even have one for your furry friend. There are great paths to walk. It is always busy though. The part that really stinks about the busy factor is that if you are a parent of smaller kids you may want to avoid this park from noon on. There are teenagers surrounding the park area and they smoke, use profanity etc. So I recommend going in the morning before they show up and you should be fine.

The Stone House is a popular dining spot in south Montrose, offering classic American fare and pasta dishes in an upscale-casual setting with a lodge-inspired ambiance. The restaurant is known for its attentive service and delicious food, including appetizers with sweet Asian chili sauce and the house specialty smoke-roasted prime rib. With an Italian feel to the building, the Italia section of the menu is worth exploring.
Excellent. Service was fantastic. Sean, our waiter, was friendly, helpful, and very attentive. Fantastic! The food was also excellent. Best chicken parmigiana I think I’ve ever had. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience! Thought the prices were high at first but out came beautifully presented dishes with excellent quality and solid portions. The atmosphere was great with music and western decor, and the service was quick and service staff helpful and friendly.

We celebrated our 19th anniversary here and this place didn’t disappoint. Very cozy atmosphere, food was delicious, waitress was great, and they treated us for dessert on the house! I would definitely recommend, thank you!
Jameliss B — Google review
The Artichoke cheese dip is warm and wonderful, the Thai pasta was slightly sweet, slightly spicy but perfect, the avacado rolls were warm and crispy, the sirloin had a very good flavor, the prime rib was tender and cooked a little longer than we expected it to be. It was loud but we could hear each other, and a very nice evening supper.

Love this place and the clam chowder! Marti is amazing, give her a raise! So is Cassei and Rachel! ...Savannah and Sean are really cool too! Actually, there is a specific server who i keep running into who is a not a good reflection of your organization, I'm definitely going to let Montrose law enforcement and fire department and other affiliated agencies who i work with to stop going there because of his consistently very unprofessional behavior, on and off the clock. Management is welcome to reach out to me anytime.

The overall rating here had us intrigued but it was ultimately a disappointment. The photo is what they call “fried calamari” - unsure what it was actually. It was very bland. My wife got a steak…overcooked. I got the burger which was very mediocre. It also took an hour for our main course to come out as well…our waitress was nice at least…. We will not be coming back

We were at the Stone House last Thursday night and had a great experience after a rough day. David was a great server and made some recommendations that we really enjoyed. Southwestern restaurant (US)
Camp Robber is an innovative eatery that specializes in Southwestern cuisine and provides a contemporary atmosphere for its patrons. This restaurant takes its name from a bird notorious for tormenting campers throughout the region, but don't worry, they will only relieve you of your hunger and thirst. The concept behind Camp Robber is to infuse Southwest flavors into familiar dishes, creating new culinary classics.
Great new mexican food, misha is an awesome bartender, get the green chile chicken potato soup, they're famous for it and have been under original ownership for 31 straight years!
Sammy K — Google review
Camp robber is a really excellent family owned restaurant. They offer a great diverse menu that gives plenty of options but doesn't feel like too much to choose from. When my wife and I arrived we were warmly greeted by pleasant staff. Our waitress was very attentive and even allowed us to sample one of the sides we were considering before committing to it. The food itself was really good. My wife did the coconut shrimp with coconut chicken soup with fries. The quality of the food tasted as good as the presentation. I had the Thai peanut chicken wrap. It was delicious. The sweet potato fries were an excellent side to this. The prices are a bit higher than I would have like to spend initially but overall not drastic considering the area. The experience was worth it. I love the Camp Robber and definitely recommend to anyone looked for a great dining experience from an excellent establishment.

While visiting Montrose, we ate here and loved it. Atmosphere is welcoming and lovely. Service by Lilja was great—she was kind and humorous. We both had New Mexican dishes, and both were outstanding. We enjoyed dinner so much we returned the next night and had an equally good meal with also-great server Beth. If you visit Montrose, eat here!!

We were Googling gluten free in Montrose and Camp Robber came up. We stopped in for dinner on the way back from Ouray. Food was excellent and had many gluten free options marked on the menu. Highly recommend and also recommend the gluten free chocolate raspberry cake!

We stopped to eat here while we were driving through on a road trip. The service was top notch, we had our dogs and they made them feel included by bringing them their own fresh water bowls with ice since it was hot outside on the patio. The food was amazing, I tried their enchiladas and they were rich in flavor and the portions were great. I just wish this was closer to us, I'd be here all the time.

45 min for appetizer, 4 dinner items, 3 cold. Waitress was not the most enjoyable personality (Aimee L) when we expressed our disappointment, also did not offer replacement and the Manager on duty had no clue what was going on due to her sitting in booth 2 booths away chatting it up. Not sure why the food was cold. We used to love this place, will not be going back.
Elizabeth L — Google review
Thank you for the follow up on our dinner!! We have been eating at Camprobber for years - one of our favorite restaurants in Montrose. First time ever with not so good experience Saturday night. The pork medallions is a favorite dish, but they were raw/pink, only a couple of them cooked through. Heartburn set in later in evening. The chicken stuffed avocado salad was good, but service was off this time too - slow, and forgetting items on our order. I was traveling and looking for gluten-free options. I was so happy to find this place. I went two days in a row. Lots of options for gluten-free. Clean locally sourced food. The service was amazing and friendly. The space was inviting and comfortable. No complaints and will go back when in the area.

Brewery
Colorado Boy Pizzeria & Brewery is a popular spot for travelers seeking a satisfying combination of pizza and beer. The inviting atmosphere, attentive staff, and reasonable prices make it a must-visit culinary attraction. What sets this place apart is its unique culinary experience - they brew their own beer on-site, even serving as a school for aspiring brewers.
Cool spot in downtown Montrose, where the theming inside is inviting. Place was hopping on a Tuesday at 6 p.m. We ordered cheese bread, spicy artichoke pizza, and an American Stout, and I'd order them all again. Service was solid. We would return.

Popped in here for dinner after a day of exploring the surrounding area on vacation. The pizza was great! It’s hard to find good pizza outside of New York or New England but these people hit the nail on the head. We got the cheese bread, a margherita pizza, one of their beers and a local hard cider. Everything was tasty, the staff was nice, and the service was fast.

I came here for dinner on a Sunday night with some friends. We were able to be sat immediately and the service was quick. The restaurant has a nice rustic atmosphere with the exposed brick and you can see the fire pizza oven. I was able to try many of the dishes. To drink I had the Columbine margarita. It was sweet and had good flavor. To eat, I tried the cheese bread, margarita pizza, and the spring creek salad. I enjoyed all the food. I especially loved the olive oil. Overall it was a great experiment, if I ever come back to Montrose, I will return.

4.8 IMPRESSED!! First time I have said that in a LONG time!! And finally a local place that’s CLEAN & tasteful decor. We had a Mediterranean salad, warm olives, and jalapeño popper pizza made custom / half covered w bacon, little crunch & not flopping down, drinks were pretty, just more ice than preferred. The waiter was kind & quick, we came in at 5pm on a Tuesday, and not too busy, but by 6pm they were slammed & it was still fairly quiet.. thank you for an incredible first experience! Santos ;)

We were on a vacation trip visiting 4 of the national parks in Colorado. We chose to dine at the this Pizzeria while visiting the Black Canyon NP near Montrose as it had good reviews and the menu had good selection of both pizzas and micro brewed beer. We had their Cesar salad, 11 inch pizza along with local beer and cheesecake. All the food and beer was freshly made in their kitchens & brewery which was excellent. The young staff are very friendly and the place is clean and tidy. As we were visiting during non-peak season we did not have a long wait but I suspect during peak season this place would be hopping all day long as their restaurant is pretty compact. We highly recommend this for a unique experience of both food and service

Best pizza in town and even until crested butte!!!! And don’t get it mixed up there is only one true COLORADO BOY and this is THE ONE. The others (Ouray,Ridgeway) just have the name not the quality not the class not the staff!!!!!! I love their salads all the pizzas and THEIR BEER!!!!!!!! Damn good the only thing that just breaks my heart is I want the SCOTTISH ALE back I can’t wait, I mean there are others that will keep me alive but pls make it a regular one!!! Your Scottish ale was and is my world 🤣👍👍👍 keep it up

Colorado Boy Pizza is a "must do" whenever I am in the area, my go-to is the Cesar Salad (with anchovies) and whatever I'm feeling like that day for pizza, give some of the more non traditional ones a try, you won't be disappointed! The beers are brewed on-site and delicious, but since I am usually driving, I only have one, lol. Staff is always good but it can be crowded and you may have to wait, so keep that in mind.

Took children to pumpkin field, enjoyed experience. Admission fee was $12 per person ($48 for family of 4). Animal food available at $2 per bag, animals in good health and well cared for. Daughters delighted in feeding them. Pumpkins were nice, especially being end of season. Face painting service received high praise. Staff was friendly and helpful throughout the visit. Property boasted stunning beauty with a charming stream running through it.
Great for kids and family! Been coming here for 15 years and love the tradition! My entire family comes every fall with nieces and nephews of all ages including grandparents. Great day face painting, petting zoo, hamster wheel and taking rides and a treasure hunt as well! Makes the fall holidays super special and something for everyone to enjoy in the late afternoon and morning. A lot of care goes into it and is so worth the money and the joy on the kids faces. Thanks CBR for the wonderful day every year! ***best place for. Ornamental pumpkins that most places don’t carry. Beautiful white, pink and even blue varieties for your autumn decor.****

What a great place to buy a Christmas tree. The staff are friendly and helpful. They have potted trees as well you can buy and plant at home. We had our wreath made by the friendly lady in barn. The petting zoo is a nice touch.

Loved it, wonderful peaceful place to get a tree, feed a few animals and buy a fresh beautiful swag or wreath!

Our 1.5 year old daughter loved it here! We went to the pumpkin patch - $21 for 3 people was a little pricey though. It's gorgeous and they had several things to do. Roast marshmallows, slides, hay bale maze, climbing spider web, a pool of corn, tower of haybales, some animals to pet, and some snacks for purchase.
Nikki C — Google review
Cool place to visit with steer and hayrides. Unfortunately not a great tree selection. Seems they may be harvested out, many 6-8ft trees were not very full. Unfortunately we did not find a tree, but did enjoy the experience and friendly staff.

I took my daughters to the pumpkin patch and they had an amazing time! It was $12 a person. (So $48 for our family of 4). You can buy animal food for $2 per bag and it gets you a good decent amount. The animals seemed so healthy/well taken care of, clean. My daughters loved feeding all of them. The pumpkins were nice especially being at the end of season. Face painting lady was so awesome too. Overall the employees were very friendly/helpful. The property was absolutely beautiful and I loved the stream going through. My only wish for this place would be to make it a little more accessible for those in wheelchairs. (Like having a porta potty that’s accessible etc). Definitely worth the drive from Palisade!
Alicia L — Google review
For nearly 13 consecutive years, we've chosen our Christmas tree from this place. After investigating the environmental impact of fake vs. real trees, I discovered the eco-friendliness of real trees, supporting a local tree farm that not only grows trees (producing oxygen) but also consistently replenishes them. The friendly staff adds to the experience, and it's heartwarming to witness my family's growth each year during our obligatory family photo in front of the substantial wooden doors.

If you appreciate beautiful paintings, this special gallery is a must-visit.

The knowledgeable staff provides guidance on techniques, templates, and painting assistance. It's a great place for birthday parties or simply having fun with the family. The friendly atmosphere and helpful staff make it an enjoyable experience for both kids and adults alike.
We're on spring break so I brought my boys to the Amazing Glaze and had such an amazing time. There's so many cute figurines to choose from, small and big. It was our first time visiting and the staff were super helpful letting us know what to do and how many coats a of paint to add, as well as setting out supplies. I must say that it was nicely affordable and it won't be our last visit. We still need to go back within a week to get our finished ceramics. Can't wait!

We have been going here for years. My daughter makes the family all their birthday and Christmas gifts here. Plus some days we just go for fun. She is now 5 yrs old and has been painting here since she was almost 2 yrs old. The staff is wonderful with children and very helpful. The owner is such a wonderful person. Cherie always has a smile on her face. She's more than happy to show you new painting Technics and help set up and clean up. You are treated like royalty. It is so easy to have your creative juices flow in such a positive atmosphere. We also had my daughter's birthday party there. It was the best birthday party my daughter has ever had. With a room of three year old kids, I thought it would be crazy, but the staff were always one step ahead. The kids and the parents had fun. It was so cute to see how proud all the kids were of their artwork. Plus, the plate you take home is priceless. I recommend this place to anyone. You and your family are guaranteed to have fun!

Absolutely love this place. One of my favorite breweries in the country. Ran across this gem a few years back and have been wanting to get back there even since. Sitting outside was nice but that was about it. Server was very friendly at first but after we pointed out that he neglected to inform us that a certain IP was served only in 8oz rather than a pint his demeanor changed. They did remove a charge for a second IP, but beer was on a flat side and food was not great. We had salsa, guacamole and chips-not good. I ordered Rocky Mountain Oysters and unfortunately they were supper soggy and greasy.

Mi Mexico is a popular Mexican restaurant located on East Main Street in Montrose, Colorado. It has gained a strong reputation for offering some of the best traditional Mexican cuisine in the area. The menu features classic dishes such as enchiladas, fajitas, tacos, and huevos rancheros, along with an extensive selection of other options. Despite being relatively new, the restaurant has quickly become a favorite among locals due to its exciting decor, generous portions, and affordable prices.
Our dinner at home didn't turn out so we made a last minute decision to come to Mi Mexico for dinner. We were sat at our table quickly and had drinks soon after. It took a while for me to find something because they have a huge menu. I had the Deluxe Burrito and my boyfriend had the Burrito Loco. They were both fresh, hot, and delicious. The mushroom salsa was good although a little spicy for me. We really enjoyed our visit.

This restaurant offers authentic cuisine with vibrant flavors and spices. The menu features popular favorites such as mo-mo dumplings, curries, Naan bread, and more. Although the exterior may be modest, the owners are passionate about sharing their culture through their food.

I ordered the Chicken Makhni ($15.99) and Aloo Paratha ($3.99) for takeout. The portion sizes were massive—the chicken dish came with a mountain of basmati rice and plenty of meat, making it very filling. The Aloo Paratha was well-stuffed and huge but was served without any chutney or dipping sauce. A small side like salna or yogurt would’ve made a big difference in the overall experience. The restaurant has plenty of seating, but the interior feels outdated and could use some renovation. You definitely get your money’s worth in terms of portion size.

Would highly recommend to anyone looking for fresh, flavorful Himalayan food in the area.

We decided to stop at the restaurant for lunch. I was looking forward for the buffet but was told that they do not do it anymore. We ordered the dumplings for appetizer and they were really good. My chicken curry was amazing:the chicken was tender, sauce was not too spicy and had plenty of flavor. The vegetables curry was great as well. Naan garlic was fresh and tasted great. The only reason I gave 4 stars is that the service needs to be a bit better and the building is really old and could use updating. Otherwise it’s a family owned business with amazing food.

Very clean locker room and shower stall on the men's side. Traveling partner said the exact same for the women's lockers and showers. Worth $10 for a non-resident and we could have used all the facilities, indoor elevated walking track, basketball courts (8 hoops in all), friendly staff, plenty of parking, local kids having fun inside. I stopped in to pick up some information at the Chamber of Commerce only to learn they were closed on Friday afternoons. I went to the Visitor Center and the young lady there, I wish I had caught her name, was very helpful and I was able to get what I needed. Also, they have Ray's Jerky for sale which if you haven't had any, some of the best jerky available and all locally produced and sourced.

Golf course
Black Canyon Golf Course is a well-regarded 18-hole municipal facility that has consistently ranked as one of the top courses in the region. With its manageable length of just over 6,300 yards, golfers can complete a round in about four hours, leaving ample time for other activities. The front and back nines offer distinct themes and layouts, adding to the appeal for most players.
My first time playing this course. I brought my 13 year old son who is just starting to get comfortable playing random courses that he doesn't know. Very laid back. Greens and fairways were in excellent shape! The staff was very friendly and helpful. And their hit dog deal can't be beat!
C C — Google review
Love this course! I drive over from CB religiously to play it. Great friendly staff as well as great prices and fresh new carts!

Fun golf course! Lots of trees so you can find some shade, don't be fooled though, you don't want to be behind any of those trees, your not going to get through them!! The staff is always the nicest around!
Katie B — Google review
Visited from out of state. Awesome municipal course with grass range tee box and well maintained. Courteous staff - challenging and fun. Super reasonable cost. Occasional slow play is no issue as fellow golfers are gracious and happy to let you play through. Impressed and have nothing but good things to say. Highly recommend and good for golf!

Great course for being public, well maintained and challenging.Highly suggest doing all 18 holes as the front 9 are a bit crowded and continuing on reinstates a relaxing environment

Golf course
Bridges Golf & Country Club in Colorado's western slope offers a challenging yet enjoyable golfing experience designed by Jack Nicklaus. The course caters to both better players and high-handicap golfers, surrounded by stunning scenery. After your round, you can dine at Remington's full-service clubhouse restaurant or stay in one of the on-site suites. While some visitors have noted issues with the bunkers, many appreciate the overall quality of the course and the excellent staff.
First time there. More like a private club in terms of amazing dining space. Menu beyond what you would ever think. Hreat golf course. Considering as a retirement home. So much at your fingertips here. Airport. Ouray. Silverton ..Telluride all close by...bigger city stuff in GJT. .....Las Colinas for concerts etc...

I played 18 holes on May 28, 2025 with an 8:08 am tee time. The staff and facilities were great and I truly enjoyed playing the course. I was joined on the back nine by 2 members who were very friendly and helpful in my understanding of the course. The only thing I have an issue with is that I was quoted a price of $69.00 by the young lady when I called for a tee time. I told her I was in town visiting from Michigan. She gave me a senior/veterans rate. When I checked in, I failed to get a receipt as I was told I didn't need one for a starter. When I checked my credit card billing I found I had been charged $30.00 more the the price quoted, or $99.00 If I had been quoted that price, I would still have played and enjoyed it.

Amazing event last night with Dave's Fault and NIGHT RANGER!!! The concessions were good and we had a great with chips for dinner $6. The Bridges opened up the golf cart garage to wait it the rain in between acts. But it was a very intimate concert and it seemed as if the bands were just having fun! It leant to an amazing concert of rock! Thanks for putting on such a great night!!!!!!!

Decided to stay and play at this little gem in Montrose after a few days in Pagosa and wanting to play golf somewhere else. Originally found in the Greensaver book that we purchased but ended up getting a great deal on a room and 2 rounds of golf. The staff was great and the restaurant food was excellent. Although the course was not in the best condition due to dry winter conditions that struggled to recover the greens were good. The course is hard though as its a Nicklaus design but worth giving a try.
S — Google review
Fairways and tee boxes very dry. Disappointing. A lot of water to cross but not used on course. Most greens were decent.

Had a great time at the WCCA golf tournament today. This is a very beautiful course! Very fun to play!
John B — Google review
While on a trip in Ridgway, Co. on a whim we decided to squeeze in a round of golf The Bridges staff were extremely accommodating with getting us a morning tee time and supplying us with clubs. Upon our arrival we were greeted by the staff in the clubhouse and advised us that our clubs were loaded and if we'd like to use the driving range he'll have one of the guys set it up. The greens fee's were very reasonable, especially as The Bridges is a private course but they do allow non members to play if there's space available. Now the best part, the course is in excellent shape. As its a Nicholas designed course the layout has his signature all over it. Which means that it was challenging but not unbearably difficult. Just an all around great course. The greens were true, the bunkers were soft, the fairway grass was cut tight so you can get a lot of roll. I gave it 5 Stars for a multitude of reasons as mentioned above, but also the staff were amazing. So if your ever in the area and feel the need for some golf The Bridges would be my first pick.

Montrose Recreation District Field House is a popular spot for families and tourists to enjoy a day out in the sun. The outdoor pool offers a refreshing way to cool off, with lifeguards on duty and features like a giant water slide and splash pads. Additionally, visitors can make use of the indoor turf field for more recreational opportunities. With affordable entry fees, it's an ideal place for private birthday parties or simply spending quality time with the family.
Sweet little gem we found. Perfect for a 3 year old boy. We were allowed ride the big water slide together 💦 Shallow pool, super friendly staff, bump n jumps, cheap ice cream sandwiches 👍🏻
Robyn B — Google review
Be warned. New management! No longer allow smaller children to go down slide with adult. My 3 yo was so excited because we drive by it several times a week. There is no sign at the bottom advicing of the height requirement (4ft) so we went all the way up to be turned away. Prices also increased this year.
Carolina B — Google review
We went to the outdoor pool and splash park and had a lot of fun! There is a big water slide that we really enjoyed. Some of the splash pad is not working, but we still enjoyed it. The pool itself is small, but great for kids! We didn't play on the indoor field but it is new and looks really nice.
Stephanie S — Google review
Super affordable just $3.00 for adults and children 3+. My children had so much fun and enjoyed the frog slide. Great for private birthday parties. Unfortunately the outdoor pool is only open during the summer but the indoor field is opened all year.

Summer time lunch program is in full swing here for the kiddos. 12 o'clock free lunches for the kids. My kiddos got a sandwich/wrap fruit or vegetables (orange slices/celery and carrots) cookie or rice crispy treat and a milk. For just 3 bucks your kids can swim in the outdoor pool (1ft to 3ft depths) with a splash pad. The big slide opens at 1. Dont feel like swimming than you can utilize the indoor field house. They have 3 different bounce houses and tons of different sports equipment to use inside. Definitely a must during the week for the kids to get that summer time energy out.

The area also provides opportunities for white-water rafting in Gunnison Gorge and Gold Medal fishing. While some trail markers are missing, the spot offers free overnight stays with clean vault toilets and scenic views of Montrose.
So glad we found this place, we were traveling through Montrose and it was pretty late. Not that many areas by the city where you can spend the night for free. The vault toilet was a bonus, it was clean and no bad smell and no flies. No trash there.
Filip K — Google review
Lots of shared use trails, many with steep hills, so great for a good workout. Most are open for hiking and mtn. biking as well as dirt bikes. Some are also open for quads. Currently, most of the trail marker signs are destroyed or missing, so unless you have an interactive map program or a very good memory, it's very hard to navigate the trails.

During a Monday afternoon, a couple visited LaNoue DuBois Winery after camping at Ridgway State Park. They had found the winery online and decided to stop on their way home. Upon arrival, they were greeted by the friendly winery dog named Choco. Engaging in conversation with Kathy and Rick, the owners of the winery, they discussed various topics ranging from family genealogy to hiking trails.
Winery: I met Nick for a tasting on my lunch break at 1PM. All ten wines included in the tasting were delicious, and I’m impressed by the diversity of quality wines the LaNoue DuBois team is able to craft! Highly appreciate Nick’s expertise, knowledge, and conversation - he felt like a friend from the first moment and had an answer for all my questions about winemaking. HarvestHost: It was quiet and peaceful night in the tasting room parking lot with good sun exposure and easy access via the main road, even in winter. They’ve got a spot down near the river during summer too.
Steve A — Google review
The owner Rick gave us a fabulous tour of their wine making facility. I am impressed with Rick's knowledge and with the high quality of their wines. The tour and tastings were an especially memorable surprise for my wine loving family member's 80th birthday. We brought our own picnic. The wine cost is very reasonable.
James D — Google review
An absolute gem in Colorado! From the moment we arrived, the owner, Lee, made us feel welcome and took the time to share his knowledge of the wines and the region. It was so cool to hear the history behind the family business, too! The tasting experience was relaxed, unhurried and paired with stunning views of the San Juan mountains that truly showcase the beauty of Colorado! Every pour was delicious- balanced, unique & clearly crafted with care. The vibes were warm and inviting, making it just as perfect for a casual afternoon as it would be for a special occasion. This winery is a must-visit if you're exploring Colorado- we will definitely be back & recommend it to all of our friends!

If I could give LaNoue DuBois Winery 6 stars, I would. Stayed on property in our sprinter van through Harvest Host (a MUST for boondocking stops), and fell in love with this winery. The atmosphere indoors and outdoors are both stellar - the winery indoor hosts a beautiful and large area for seating and also a large meeting space/conference room, and the fenced-in outdoor area was spacious and perfect for our pup on-and-off leash. Doesn’t hurt that it has a stellar view of the mountains right from the tables outside. The wine somehow even topped all of that. Do yourself a favor and do the full 10-wine tasting which is somehow only $10 (?!?) and INCREDIBLY tasty. Not a single one missed, and that’s super rare. Especially for a smaller operation! The best part though was chatting with the owner, Rick, who is one of the nicest people we’ve encountered on our travels. Could spend all day hanging out at LaNoue DuBois. Do not miss this winery on your travels!!
