Beautiful place to visit, you can go swimming once you reach the top, nice, cold but refreshing water. The prices are cheap, Kids 6 soles, wich is around 1.5 USD and 10 soles, around 2.60 USD

Nice place to visit. Very relaxing. The water is a little on the cold side but feels good after the long hike to the falls. Be sure to ask prices from the venders before ordering. The food in the park was reasonable and good. The snack at the bottom before entering was extremely expensive. But souvenirs were reasonable

Nestled amidst the breathtaking landscapes of the Amazon, Centro Urku is a remarkable conservation center dedicated to rescuing and protecting wildlife. Visitors can immerse themselves in the natural beauty surrounding this haven, which includes stunning sites like the Blue Lagoon Willow and Waterfall Carpishuyacu. The center focuses on rehabilitating animals such as monkeys and birds while educating guests about their behaviors and the threats they face from human activities like poaching and deforestation.
Amazing place where they rescue and save many different jungle animals. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. The tour takes about 45mins and is a very reasonable price.
James M — Google review
A very nice rescue center for animals. It also doubles as a teaching center. Inside e got a tour with explanation in English. Highly recommend visiting. Maybe in combination with the museum and orchid/ plant center which are within walking distance
Jeroen.Henrieke — Google review
Wow…an incredible experience and place. The employees and volunteers truly care about the work they’re doing and the animals in their care. They prioritize rehabilitation and balance respecting and understanding the animals, their preferences & behaviors, while recognizing the human-made threats (poaching/trafficking, deforestation/degradation) in their natural environments they face while roaming free. They’ve built a center that blends in with the surrounding environment, so much so that neighboring monos (monkeys) swing around above (you’ll know it’s them when the trees start moving). Make sure to use DEET-free natural bug spray, so you don’t hurt the butterflies :-) Muchísimas gracias a todos en El centro urku!
Yumi K — Google review
Very interesting conservation center focused on rescuing and protecting Amazonian wildlife. You can see different animals like monkeys, birds and other species, all in a natural environment where they are cared for with respect. The guides explain very well about the animals and the importance of conservation. A great place to learn more about the jungle and support a good cause. Totally recommended!
Adrian H — Google review
I went for the day tour and came back for the night tour. I was alone and they did their best to march me with a group. The night tour was one of the best experiences I had in Tarapoto, the guide was very knowledgeable and passionate. I highly recommend it to anyone passing by this beautiful city.
Willi — Google review
Insightful visit, lots of information and we were given extra time, as well as free access to the butterfly garden. Pilár, our guide, was friendly and knowledgeable. We learnt a lot. Don't miss this place with an important mission to rescue wild animals and rehabilitate them for release into the wild. Thank you for your service!
Eugenio C — Google review
A great place to get to know the wildlife of Tarapoto in a humane way! The center does daily tours every half hour (s/10) and also night tours which shows a whole different type of wildlife (which we booked with Tierra Verde tours). Make sure to pack your bug spray!

Overall, Plaza Vea is an excellent spot for shoppers looking to enjoy great deals without compromising on quality!
We came here for fruit later in the evening and it left some to be desired. There was not alot of options for the size of the store but it was affordable and easy to get to

Huge supermarket, with a high volume of products. And yet, some items cannot be found but are available at Inmaculada.

It's good that they have a so many products, but waiting in line for 15min when there are so many cashiers and only 5 people in-front of you, is not normal.
Naama O — Google review
Typical plaza vea supermarket. But selection is less. They fill the empty spaces with more of the same. In the same centre as Promart with a convenient parking area in the back. Largest supermarket in Tarapoto. But expensive.

Alessandra M — Google review
(Translated by Google) The place has a really beautiful view and a pleasant atmosphere, but unfortunately, the service leaves much to be desired. We were served very late, even after other tables that arrived much later were already eating. To make matters worse, my order arrived with the meat raw, and my girlfriend's plate wasn't even brought until we had to complain several times. The staff seemed disorganized and inattentive, as if they didn't care about order or customer satisfaction. It's a shame, because with that view, it could be an excellent restaurant, but the service and food quality don't live up to expectations. I hope they improve, because the place has potential, but as it is, I wouldn't recommend it.

(Translated by Google) A haven of peace away from the crowds. The path to get to the waterfall is part of the charm, it is not heavy although it does have ups and downs but nothing that requires much effort. It is worth doing it slowly to appreciate the surroundings, from frogs, mushrooms, diversity of butterflies and countless trees and listening to the music of the stream. The sun doesn't even shine on the road because the tall fronds of the trees provide shade. The waterfall has a shallow natural pool suitable for those who don't know how to swim like me. The water is fresh but not cold, so after the sweat of the road it gives a good refreshment. I didn't have any insects so I didn't need repellent or sunscreen which only made me sweat more. The best of all is that you practically have it for yourself and your group, since being so far from Tarapoto it has not become overcrowded. It is to come to relax and enjoy contact with the jungle and the water.

Really nice. Tough terrain to access it, which I liked. To easy and it's over crowded in these areas. The hot springs where amazing and the waterfall stunning. Make sure you can swim if you go here! Also, listen to the workers telling you to leave if that happens, the stream can flood in seconds and raise 4 meters, you can be trapped for hours if you don't leave when they tell you to.

Very beautiful waterfall and totally worth the effort!! The hike is short but steep and a bit tough (around 40min until the last waterfall). To get to the last waterfall you have to get wet, so bring a swimsuit.
Adrian H — Google review
Amazing! Even if the waterfalls aren't that difficult, the place is beautiful and relaxing (if you came early by 8am before the tourist). To get to the place by yourself you'll have to take a collectivo from the terminal terrestre (turismo selva) of Tarapoto direction Yurimaguas, ask the driver to drop you by the catarata Pishurayacu, it's a after the town San Jose, on the km 34 of the road, it'll cost you 10soles. There you'll have to buy the entrance 5soles, and walk about 30 minutes to reach the first point: the raft to cross the river and access the thermal baths, then you have to walk 15min to see the waterfalls. Be ready to walk in nature, take basket or hiking shoes, dress in consequence, and don't forget swimsuit, towel and repellent for mosquitoes. Plus a waterproof bag is nice, because if you fall of the raft your things will be safe :)

Nice waterfall. A bit touristy, but that's to be expected when there's not much effort to reach the falls and it's close to a major town. Worth a visit, in my opinion. Love seeing waterfalls that start wayyyyyy up in the mountains, and this fits the bill!

(Translated by Google) This place has been a real surprise since I didn't know of its existence. The boatman-guide suggested this magnificent place where orchid biodiversity is preserved, essential medicinal oils are extracted, and succulent honey is extracted from small stingless bees. The honey has an incredibly pleasant and fruity flavor. It also has a collection of sculptures by Felipe Lettersen, who immortalized the natives of Peru and America in bronze. Finally, the traveler can rent some nice bungalows in the middle of nature, equipped with eco-friendly energy and water systems. Someday I will return to enjoy the nights of the "Blue Lagoon" and the song of the siren. Museum
Nestled within the charming Barranco district, Museo de Ayahuasca in Tarapoto offers a delightful blend of cultural immersion and educational experience. This quaint museum provides an engaging 40-minute journey into the fascinating history of ayahuasca, guided by the friendly and knowledgeable Christian. His passion for sharing insights about this powerful plant is infectious, making visitors feel welcomed and connected to the local culture. Upon arrival, guests are greeted by Conie, whose warm demeanor instantly puts everyone at ease.
Small museum introducing the culture of Ayahuasca to the general public. The fee is 12 soles per pax, but it comes with a tour of the museum. Do recommend to take a cab to the museum as it is a fair distance from the city center.

Very interesting place, great tour around the informative and well decorated musem itself and the property around it with turtles and parrots and a nice view of the surrounding jungle

A very interesting and unique place to learn about the history, culture, and traditions surrounding ayahuasca and Amazonian shamanism. The museum shows artifacts, paintings, and explanations that give a deep insight into the spiritual and medicinal use of the plant. The atmosphere is calm and respectful, and the guides explain with a lot of knowledge and passion. A great stop to understand more about the cultural roots of the Amazon.

What an amazing experience! This museum is an incredibly special place where you can learn everything about the essence of Ayahuasca. They have all kinds of history, art, science, and spiritual elements that educate and open the mind to the marvels and benefits of plant medicine. The best part about the museum is Christian! He is a wonderful and unique soul with a deep fondness for the plants. He is genuine and very informative about both how the medicine works and was vulnerable to share his experience with Aya. He also recommended a genuinely respectful shaman to guide in ceremony. It is very important to find a shaman who is trustworthy as a solo woman because there are some men who are very dangerous even though a center may seem legitimate. Christian's kindness and respect were amazing for me to discover on my trip. My time in Tarapoto would not have been the same had I not visited this museum. I hope I can return to this beautiful place and beautiful people soon!

This is such a gem of a place! A lovely introduction to the medicine and the heritage and technology of shamanism. Connie, the guide, is so friendly and warm. Really worth a visit, and if you like walking, the walk there and back from the town is really pretty.

As I entered the property I was greeted by a genuine and warm hearted, woman named Conie with a radiant smile, who listened to my experiences and made me feel at home and validated. She gave me a lovely tour of the space and it's contents sharing new and interesting information. I sincerely enjoyed my time there and would highly recommend it to friends and loved ones and anyone who is curious or a lover of the culture and medicinal wisdom of the plants.

The journey to Taytamaki Parque de Aventuras may take longer than indicated by Google maps. The roads leading there are composed of unpaved dirt and have been damaged by flooding and earthquakes. It is advisable to utilize a truck or mototaxi for transportation. Upon arrival, there is an entrance fee of 10 soles per person that includes the services of a professional photographer who will provide you with the captured images.
Had good time there - did all 4 waterfalls!

What an adventure. Jumping on rocks and walking down a forest with my brother in this place was an adventure that not only showed us the value in trust but letting go of fear. If you have any type of trauma or healing to do I highly recommend this place. As the locals say, leave all that to our jungle, she will heal you. Have a blessed day!
Cultural A — Google review
Fun place for extreme activities, if you like hiking do take the full circuit to 4 very nice small water falls, though don't believe when they tell you it's only 30 min, it's more like 2 hours, it's still worth it, you even go through a small cacao plantation. You will probably have the falls to yourself cause almost nobody takes the trail. There are a million different butterflies, insects, plants and flowers. You'll get that deep jungle feeling only 30 min away from Tarapoto.
Diana V — Google review
This place has some great sights to hike to. Like a waterfall and some places to take pictures the accommodation is nice if you stay in the bio dome.
Arthur C — Google review
Definitely takes longer to get there than what Google maps says. The roads are all unpaved dirt and damaged from flooding and earthquakes. Best to take a truck or use a mototaxi to get there. Once there, it's 10soles per person and includes a professional photographer who sends you the photos. Give enough time here as there is also a ziplining, a bridge and other attractions. From the entrance it's a 15 minute hike up natural stairs. My parents are 65 and did it but can be an issue for other people. Views at sunset were amazing!

It's really amazing, pure adrenalina! I really like it .If I have a chance to do it again ,I did ..canopy and cross the bridge ..! Recommended! Alberto Sydney Australia.

Definately worth a visit- might suggest a car taxi over a mototaxi as the "road" to Taytamaki is rather rough. Still under development when we went there, with the seven deadly sins statues not yet in.place, but still spectacular. Embodies so many of the things I love about Peru. Beautiful scenery and natural beauty. Ingenuity and great vision in the creators of this attraction, with a refreshing absence of all the overly intrusive "safety restraints" ubiquitous in the USA - the path and steps up are a bit " rough" and not for those with limited physical abilities; and standing on the " hand of God" makes one appreciate the protection God offers as there are no restraints or nets or barriers as you are suspended above the wide and deep mountain's edge below. Again always refreshing to see the attitude in Peru of responsibility for one's own safety ( and NO proliferation of personal injury attorney advertising everywhere). I extend my praise and great appreciation to those whose labor, effort, and vision created this attraction.

The complete hike to Cascadas el salto de la bruja takes approximately 25 minutes. It is advisable to avoid going during rainy periods as the Turquoise Lake at the end of the trail becomes murky. However, the witch's own waterfall offers a highly refreshing experience. The tour showcases one of the best waterfalls in the area and promises a truly enjoyable outing for tourists seeking natural beauty.

(Translated by Google) Recommended experience 10/10. Although it is not the closest waterfall route, it offers a very beautiful landscape, you can enjoy the route more calmly and with less crowds. They offer various points to visit and although, at times it seems like you have to cross with ropes or some extreme sport, it can be done calmly. There are different points where you can stop and swim, so I recommend going early so you can get into all of them. The best point is the last one, the turquoise lake, it is totally worth it. On my visit I had to buy the tickets in front, where you can buy crafts, ice cream and more, which I do recommend doing as well. The attention is very good, A1. We were lucky to meet the owner, a very kind man who told us everything we needed to know about the waterfalls, he also explained to us about the nests and other things we saw at the time, an enriching experience. (Original) Experiencia recomendada 10/10.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful nature!! The waterfalls are spectacular, the walking route is very rugged and slippery, you will have to cross large water channels, slippery rocks and pronounced tree roots. Those in charge of the natural resource have placed ropes and wooden ladders to make the uphill route easier. In total there are 5 waterfalls in the resort, so it takes an hour and a half to visit them all. It is better to do the tour with sneakers, not many people go so all the falls are not very crowded. (Original) Hermosa naturaleza!!

Getting to Witch's Falls seemed very easy to me (I'm 29 years old and has some hiking experience); I would say the difficulty is 1/10. However, I also went with my parents (both in their 60s) and my 4-year-old nephew, who are not used to trekking, and there the difficulty rises to a 5/10, especially if you need to help them along the way. The waterfall forms a very beautiful lagoon. I recommend getting in: the water is refreshing but not freezing (6/10 when cold). There are deep areas, so it is important that only those who know how to swim or are accompanied enter. Also be careful with the edge of the lagoon, since there is a drop marked with a rope: not crossing it is key to enjoying it safely. Go, enjoy the moment, nature and water. It's totally worth it! The experience was spectacular: refreshing waters, good food, a short hike, and an excellent atmosphere, always accompanied by the guide's storytelling. There are several waterfalls, and how you explore them depends on the number of people there, so it's recommended to check out each spot. We even encountered the dreaded bullet ants. Don't forget repellent and hiking shoes; some people also wear water shoes, but they're not essential. We went with hiking shoes and flip-flops; it's recommended to dress lightly. one of the most beautiful waterfalls near Tarapoto. The small community of Progreso collectively looks after the area around the waterfall. The people of Progreso are very friendly. The waterfall is not overcrowded with tourists. There are multiple levels of the waterfall and lots to explore:) Every now and then there are small covered areas on the paths - if it rains :) I really loved my time there ! highly recommended!!

The entrance is super cheap (S/10) for all the time you can spend inside walking, swimming and enjoying nature.
