Sights & Landmarks
Embark on a picturesque journey from Finalborgo to the tranquil village of Perti, where the abandoned Castel Gavone stands as a testament to its rich history. Once serving as the grand headquarters of Marquis Del Carretto, this ancient landmark offers a captivating glimpse into the past. As you make your way through narrow cobbled streets and charming squares, be sure to explore other points of interest such as the convent complex of Santa Caterina and Castel San Giovanni.
Unfortunately it’s closed but it’s worth the hike up to see the old road that winds past it and to a small cluster of homes, restaurant and church.

They wrote, the Castle is open every Day, but…Currently closed and no Information, when does the Castle open again😟 But the view up there is marvelous…👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

This place is closed. But good hike..
Vinay H — Google review
If you can hike up 30 minutes. You can do this. As every one said the castle is closed. But it has summer gude tours at night. I am looking forward for August 17th night tour. And up date my experience again. The view and the great near by restaurant ( at night, don't miss this specialty dishes! ) it self was worth the trip. Italian does not put up ads at all. As if they try not to create too many visitors for the peaceful life styles. I do not blame them. I too, prefer not need reservation for food. :)

Everything around this castle is magic! Must go
Davide B — Google review
The construction is exactly what you see on the photo, nothing more and is fully closed off by a gate. It was impossible to enter. The hike up was nice, but the castle itself was a disappointment.
Maciek S — Google review
The castle itself was closed but the walk, checking out the nearby cave and the overall view and scenery is worth the journey and view.

Great experience! Visit in summer by night or during the day on special Sundays over the year. Have just done the visit by night. Pure magic packed with interesting historical anecdotes. A must!

Caprazoppa is a historic fort located on the Gottaro hill, strategically positioned to oversee the coast from Caprazoppa to San Donato Cape. Dating back to the 14th century, this star-shaped building has undergone various reconstructions and alterations. It stands close to Finale, offering stunning views at about 26 meters above sea level. While access to the turret may be limited, visitors can still enjoy breathtaking views of the promontory from above or along the Aurelia.

(Translated by Google) The beach adjacent to the rocks, which border the camper area, is free!! During the quieter periods of the year we walk with our dogs, always on a leash, along the shoreline which is splendid!!! Watch out for the zebra mussels, this year very present all along the shore!! I haven't tried it firsthand, but they say it's stinging😬 the rest of the beach, which is very large, is mostly characterized by fairly fine sand.

Fortress
Forte San Giovanni, located in the historic center of Finalborgo, offers a spectacular view of the coast and surrounding area. The fort is easily accessible with a short hike from Finalborgo and is free to visit. Although there are few signs explaining its history, the well-renovated fort allows for free exploration. The hike up to the fort is not too strenuous but it's advisable to bring water on warm days.
A great hike to get there, not too hard but definitely bring water with you if you’re going in warm/hot weather. The fort is free to visit and there are views of the valley from all sides. Not accessible for wheelchair/any mobility equipment.

Church
Nostra Signora di Loreto, also known as the church of the five bell towers, is an elegant Renaissance church located in a picturesque setting surrounded by green and rocky landscapes. It can be reached via a path from Perti Alta or a mule track from Finalborgo, offering impressive views over the mountains and sea along the way. Although it is almost always closed, its unique architecture makes it worth a visit.
(Translated by Google) It is a magical place that exudes beauty and history. Its typical architecture with five bell towers recalls the Portinari Chapel of the Church of Sant'Eustorgio (in which Foppa, who also worked a lot in Liguria, worked) as proof of the link between the Del Carrettos and the Sforzas. It was built around 1480 on the occasion of the marriage between Alfonso I and Peretta Cubo Usodimare (granddaughter of Pope Innocent VIII) in fact this marriage was celebrated in Rome in the Vatican. I remember that the predecessor of Innocent VIII was Sixtus IV della Rovere (Franciscan), from 1471 to 1484, who was succeeded by Innocent VIII, from 1484 to 1492, followed by Alexander VI (Rodrigo Borgia, actually Borges as he was Spanish) 1484-1492 , then Tedeschini Piccolomini of Siena from 1492 to 1503 and from 1503 to 1513 a della Rovere returned, the great Warrior Pope Julius II to whom we owe the "features" of the current and majestic Church of Rome. The world is really small... but beautiful! The retaining wall now requires major restoration, as can be seen from the cleaning and deforestation that we were asked to carry out together with our colleagues from the AIB of Finale Ligure to facilitate operations. We hope for an excellent outcome. The church deserves it!

The road shortly after the Perti church is closed to traffic (except residents) by a recent municipal ordinance. (Translated by Google) Church almost hidden, there are no signs, the only road to access it is marked as a private road... the little church is closed, the interior suggests it is not very well cared for, adding some signs about if and when it can be visited wouldn't be bad. (Translated by Google) Nice place. Nice, basic church. Due to someone's rudeness, the surrounding area is a bit unclean. Be careful where you park: the Finale police are happy to give fines to tourists if a car wheel is on the white line (when you can see it) that delimits the road. (Original) Bel posto. Chiesa carina, essenziale.

(Translated by Google) Nice little church, very isolated and closed, avoid going there in the evening, given the low traffic. You can get there practically by car following from Finalborgo and continuing towards Perti Alta, there is a free car park nearby... the view is beautiful, there is also the very small village of Perti Alta, nothing more than a church, four houses and 2 cultivated fields.

(Translated by Google) It is a small church (I think disused) which is located in a very panoramic position in the Finale area. The architecture is very particular and for this reason it is illuminated at night with photoelectric lights and can be admired from the village area. However, it is worth a walk (half an hour from the village walking calmly) to be seen up close.

Borgo and Bike is located in the town of Finalpia, which is divided into three districts: Finalpia, Final Marina, and Borgo. The district of Finalpia offers proximity to the sea and was built in the 60s/70s. Final Marina features a historic center with beautiful buildings and a cathedral. The accommodation provides private parking and bike storage, making it convenient for exploring the nearby Finalborgo and Fi ale Ligure.
Very nice room. I can find no fault with the accommodation. Confortable bed, excellent shower, air conditioning, coffee machine and kettle, a small refrigerator and a very nice garden/terrace. It’s also perfectly located near Finalborgo but far enough away that it’s quiet and calm. We came for climbing and it’s perfectly located for quick access to the crags by car. The host, Pier, was very welcoming and kind. All in all a great experience.

With its striking bastions reaching out toward the sea, this well-preserved fortress offers an impressive view of the region.

La Fortezza, a restaurant located in a stunning position with panoramic vistas of the mesmerizing ocean, offers an array of delectable dishes that have consistently received high praise. The exceptional service provided by the friendly staff is always accompanied by well-matched wine recommendations that enhance the dining experience. This establishment, situated within a charming castle featuring a cafe and restaurant, provides guests with an enchanting view of the seaside.
We hosted a wine tasting here last summer, which was an absolutely fabulous experience. Location is awesome of course, but also the hosts were super accommodating, friendly and went the extra mile to make us feel comfortable. Aperitif and dinner was outstanding, as always in La Fortezza. Complimenti!

This place is truly beautiful, and we were excited to stop in for a drink. However, we were disappointed to learn it's dining only, especially since the vast majority of tables were unoccupied. It felt like a missed opportunity for both us and the establishment.

Made a reservation for 7, arrived a bit early, unfriendly lady just says "nothing before 7:30". Never again

Superb hotel, the restaurant was one of the best, with excellent cuisine, extensive wine list. The staff were superb, breakfast was simple but elegant. Highly recommend a stay here.

The dinner was simply sublime. We had mainly fish based dishes. They are also gluten free friendly

Beautiful castle with free concert during summer time, fantastic view and how lucky to be here !!

There's a great view of the seaside from the castle, a quaint hotel with a café and restaurant. It's lovely.
