Observation Decks & Towers
Tsūtenkaku is a prominent landmark in Osaka's lively Shinsekai district, known for its vibrant neon lights and an observation deck that offers stunning views of the local area. The observation deck, which can be accessed for a fee, provides panoramic vistas including a bird's-eye view of nearby Tennoji Zoo. Additionally, visitors can find a statue of Billiken, a famous charm doll, on the deck.
This 103m tall tower is a good way to see the view of shinsekai from an elevated area. Inside the tower there are eateriesd as well as shops, and a small display museum. There is also a display of authentic and old style photos and old souvenirs.
Aviator C — Google review
We had a day trip in Osaka and spent most of our time shopping so we wanted to see something else. This tower is very cute. It's fairly low tech and a little whimsical with the odd mascot and video they play in the elevator. Definitely recommend the outer terrace view to not get glare in your photos. There is also a slide that people were doing!
Liza L — Google review
I came here more than 7 years ago when there were not as crowded as now. You need to pay extra 300 yen to go to the top of the tower to get a better view and get a feel of the breeze. Queue to reserve a time slot to enter though. Without the Amazing Pass, I don't think I will come here again. You can have a meal after the visit at the surrounding areas.
Chan A — Google review
I popped the area for a visit after dinner one evening. I did not go up the tower but took pictures of it from the street. It didn't seem as tall as I imagined but it was certainly one of the more popular landmarks here. The tower had good lighting and can be seen from all points arounf the block.
Gevs — Google review
Super fun retro style tower with great views of the city. Recommend getting the extra pass for the outdoor observation deck, you get great photos! Be prepared to queue for a while to get up to the deck though.
Minerva L — Google review
One of my favourite things in Osaka! The view is stunning and super cool! We mostly enjoyed the balcony with glass floor :)) It’s not crowded at all and it’s very affordable as well!
Vanessa D — Google review
We visited both the tower and enjoyed the views from inside and outside they were truly beautiful. There’s also a small museum inside the tower, which was a nice surprise. We decided to try the slide down, which was a lot of fun! However, I didn’t put the protective helmet on properly, and unfortunately, it bumped against my head during the slide. I ended up with a mild concussion and had a headache for the rest of the week. So, definitely make sure to wear the helmet correctly safety first!
Laloena A — Google review
We had the amazing pass so it was included in that otherwise I don't think I'd pay to do this on its own. We did get to see the sunset which was great. But there are more impressive towers in Japan.

Hozenji Yokocho, located behind Hozenji Temple in southern Osaka, is a charming narrow alleyway filled with around 60 traditional food stalls, cafes, and taverns. Originally a bustling theater district in the 1600s, this area offers a wide variety of dining options ranging from sushi to hot pot and the popular Osaka dish okonomiyaki. The atmosphere comes alive in the evening with swinging lanterns casting a soft light that transports visitors back to old Japan.
I always recommend this place to people visiting Osaka. It’s such a hidden gem, a calm quiet amongst the chaos of Dotonbori. Any little bar you go into will be amazing.
Tash N — Google review
Like a secret passage. This area is full of passages and all of them are full of nice restaurants. A magical place that is a must visit every time you come to Osaka.
Alessandro S — Google review
This is one of the most historical temples in Japan. Located right in the centre of Osaka it is worth the visit to this temple. I would highly recommend you visit this temple while in Osaka. There is no entrance fee.
BCL A — Google review
Located in the famous, and crowded Dotonbori area, this alleyway offer a serene atmosphere especially at night time. The front gate to the alleyway is really beautiful indeed. Inside not only you got to see an alleyway decorated with yellow light and lantern, you can also enjoy meals from various restaurants.

Crowded as alays, but special vibe of tons of people mostly tourists walking around enjoying food and restaurants front decor

Foreigner menu, foreigner price. Food: The skewers lacked variety & the batter was too hard instead of being crispy & tender as expected. Service: The staff needs to be more proactive in clearing used plates before serving fresh ones & refilling tea without being asked. Atmosphere: The space is very small & cramped, making it uncomfortable. Once seated, it’s difficult to exit without disturbing other guests or having them move their chairs.

20/04/24 Sat night we were there as the last guests around 19:30 something, didn't make the reservation but just walk-in. With my rusty Japanese I asked if possible to have dinner of two, very friendly owner clean up the counter and welcome us. We had 10 dishes as we thought should be enough quantity of food. Even everything dishes are deep fried. I can still taste the flavor of the ingredients! Pity we didn't find it earlier, or we could try another menu that contains more dishes. In the end we had a little chat with the owner, as we're the last guests. Very nice experience and warm hospitality I will not forget. ありがとうございます!!

This was an incredible experience. I have been to 60 countries and many of the "Top 50" restaurants in the world and this was an experience that was better than many of those restaurants. I would recommend they add truffle salt to the table, and more fresh wasabi ... Other than that pure delight and joy and perfection.

Video arcade
PC and Retro Bar Space Station is a popular spot in Osaka, drawing in both locals and tourists with its nostalgic atmosphere and collection of retro games. The bar offers a unique experience for video game enthusiasts, providing free access to various retro consoles and games without any cover charge. Visitors can enjoy themed cocktails named after beloved video game characters while immersing themselves in the vintage gaming ambiance.
Saw the place in a YouTube video and decided to go to it on my first day here in Osaka. When I went inside, the atmosphere definitely lived up to it's name. Staff was friendly and offered me to take their "Foosh roh day" cocktail as a starter and I played Smash Bros on their N64. Also got to play Super Mario World on the SNES ☺️. You can even see other customers enjoying Dreamcast, Couch gameplay with Cuphead, and another group playing Mario Kart! Will definitely come back here on my next visits.
Jan B — Google review
This place was SICK! Exactly what I was looking for- a retro gaming experience in the heart of Osaka. Just a few minutes walk from the busy hustle and bustle of Dotonburi, Pc and Retro Bar Space Station welcomes you in and transports you to a retro era. I was greeted by the bar owner, a friendly, English-speaking bro named Matt. We chatted for a bit about Osaka, our love for classic retro games, and he showed me his bar. The drinks were excellent and reasonably priced. They’re all themed and super cool looking. 10/10 place! Makes me wanna get a Sega Genesis. I’ll be back next time I visit
Caleb H — Google review
Vibes beyond reproach. This place is so cool. Checked it out as an early priority, then came back each of the 3 days we were in town. Fun cocktails, solid beer choices and it just oozes happy nostalgia. If youre Gen X (or so) and grew up playing games those place is a must visit. (Music party boat video unrelated , but seriously check this spot out)
Gruff H — Google review
Such a cool spot — a retro gaming bar that’s pure nostalgia in the best way. Tons of classic games to play, fun cocktails, and a super relaxed atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where you instantly feel at home if you grew up with old consoles or arcade games. !
Christoph P — Google review
Easily one of the better bar concepts i've seen in a while, i could hang here alot. The host, Andy, is very friendly, the drinks are decently priced and well made and the retro games are plenty. Very good place to meer like minded gaming people also. The location is so very nice too.
Wesley D — Google review
Small bar with many gaming themed cocktails. If you get one drink you can play any of the various consoles (genesis, SNES, GameCube, etc). Very fun place to hang out and game.
Max K — Google review
awesome foreigner friendly bar to play games at! someone brought their kids and they all had a good time
Sydney H — Google review
This place is so rad! Super good vibes, amazing decor, and tons of retro games to play. The drinks were great as well. I did a Hadoken shot which they lit on fire when they served it. The bartenders are American so it makes for a very tourist friendly stop for English speakers. Definitely check it out if you like gaming culture and good drinks.

Shopping
Namba Parks is a stylish shopping mall located near Namba Station, easily accessible from Kansai Airport. This eco-friendly mall boasts a sprawling rooftop garden that provides a serene escape in the midst of bustling Namba. The venue hosts seasonal events and offers around 250 stores, including a large cinema, specialty shops, apparel stores, and dining options.
For a shopping mall, its design was interesting and beautiful. There were many nice things for sale, we bought some foodstuff and had a drink there. The rooftop gardens on terraces were well done and maintained, there were plants from the Australian or African continents such as banksia, protea and kangaroo paws.
Siew T — Google review
A sight to behold for architectural-inspired visitors. The main outdoor passageway resembles the antelope canyon in the US. Go at night to savour the lighting effects, especially the roof top garden - walk along the main thoroughfare at 2F.
Ron Y — Google review
There's a lot of places to look at here. Then the design of the mall is beautiful. There is also a sumo hall on the top floor which I didn't expect.
Aud S — Google review
I bougth expensive breads in the bakery in ground floor. When i asled for a plastic bag they wanted to charge me 8 yen. I said no. If i do not get free bag to carry my breads, i cancell the deal. Outragous stinginess.
Yesh T — Google review
It's probably one of the best malls in the area. Well, designed great shopping and decent food selection. Wouldn't say is the best, but it will do.
Monkey ( — Google review
You know it’s hot when the pavement feels like it’s trying to high-five your face. So we ducked into this mall, and honestly—it was a revelation. This isn’t your grandma’s mall. There’s a Marimekko. There’s a tent store that made me question if I should take up camping. There’s a rooftop park—yes, an actual green rooftop—with soft rolling hills that look like Teletubby turf engineered by an architecture student on shrooms (compliment). You can stretch out, snack, and people-watch while enjoying some skyline views of Osaka. Inside, the retail vibe is way more curated and indie than cookie-cutter. Think well-designed home goods, skincare, cool outdoor gear, and fashion that won’t bankrupt you. There’s even a lush walkway several floors up—almost meditative if not for the occasional kid screaming about takoyaki. Namba Parks is where smart design meets summer survival. It’s part mall, part hangout spot, part green sanctuary in a sea of concrete. If you need to beat the heat, spend money in air-con bliss, or just zen out on a fake hill while eating a FamilyMart sandwich—this is your place. Would I return? In a heartbeat. Would I camp on the rooftop if allowed? Also yes.
Jim R — Google review
Perfect escape into greenery right in the middle of the bustling city. It was so quiet and calming to be surrounded by various plants. At the Green Desk you can have an ideal outdoor workplace to use your laptop (sockets and wifi available for free) or read a book. And higher you climb the stairs - the more breeze of fresh air you can get. I think I found a perfect place to hide in the shadows during hot summer weather.

The National Bunraku Theatre is a large venue in Osaka that offers comfortable seating for traditional Japanese performances. Originating during the Edo period, Bunraku Puppet Theater gained immense popularity with the contributions of Gidayu Takemoto and Monzaemon Chikamatsu. This unique form of puppet theater involves three specialized performers who handle reciting or chanting, puppet control, and music simultaneously. The theater also hosts dance performances, Japanese music shows, and other entertainment events.
Kabuki, Noh, and Bunraku theatre are 3 major traditional theatre arts in Japan. Bunraku was designated an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 2003. We saw a single-act (Sushiya-90 minutes performance) of the play, "Yoshitdune and One Thousand Cherry Trees." It takes an entire day to watch the whole play (1030-2020hrs) with short breaks in between each act. The single-act Sushiya costs ¥3,500 and was about 90 minutes long. It was fascinating watching the puppeteers accompanied by the narrator and shamisen acting out the scenes. An English audio guide (¥500 for rental) is a must if you want to understand and enjoy the performance. I would strongly recommend seeing a single-act of Bunraku if one is in Osaka. The theatre is a one minute walk from Nippombashi Station. Do go early, as there is an exhibition (free entry) of Bunraku at the theatre.
William H — Google review
Whole experience very easy to navigate, really appreciated the English speaking guides. We were visiting Japan on tour with our own puppet show, so thought of this as a novelty but actually blown away by the heritage and preservation of this beautiful artform. Felt very special to witness and would recommend. The auditorium was a bit overwarm when we visited but not too uncomfortable. The app is useful for translated narration but can be distracting at times. Would definitely revisit to watch another performance, and recommend the experience to others.
Ellis W — Google review
Some performances are extremely well setup to help non-Japanese speakers understand this fascinating art in the best way, so I'd really recommend getting tickets for those specific performances if you're a bunraku newbie like me. I caught the third act of the summer evening program and was very engaged by it all - the English subtitles for the live performance were extremely professional both in technical execution/timing and the use of language, and there was even a brief English introduction to bunraku at the start with a chance to take photos. The narrators and musicians are just as captivating as the puppeteers - you can truly see the mastery and dedication applied to their craft. The free exhibition hall is very well curated (English) and gives a lot of rich insight into the history and context of bunraku. All the staff are the loveliest and so helpful. There is a food kiosk selling drinks and bentos during the intermission, and the gift store has a nice selection of souvenirs too. Would highly recommend catching a show if you enjoy live theatre - tickets are really easy to get online through their official website.
Lynn T — Google review
Went to an introduction to Bunraku theatre with an English spoken explanation at the beginning and English subtitles above the stage during the main performances. It was a fantastic, cultural experience, with a gripping story and a gorgeous theatre space. Would massively recommend to anyone wanting to experience some Japanese tradition without it feeling touristy, yet catered to English speakers.
Maximillian Y — Google review
This was an excellent show that gave a short history and lesson on Bunraku and how it is done followed by a captivating story. The staff were very kind and helpful as well. Would recommend for a great cultural experience!
Samantha D — Google review
Staff was very friendly. The EG-G app they provided worked well. They have a little museum that's worth visiting. The Bunraku performance was much more elaborate than I expected. Some minor complaints was that the auditorium was too bright during the performance when compared to theaters that I'm used to; the layout and chair placement (I was sitting in the front, stage-left) made it hard to observe the show, the narrator & musician, and the app all at the same time; and the store was quite small. I really wanted to purchase a puppet part, like a hand or head, but they did not have any puppets for sale.
Anthony D — Google review
Recommended Osaka cultural stop. We saw a 90 minute show, seated in row 6 center right which provided a great view of the puppets and clear sound from the narrator/ chanter and musicians. Using the app to view English subtitles is a must to properly follow the story. Suggest you arrive early and spend 20 minutes checking out the museum....increases one's appreciation of the effort and talent involved.
Black D — Google review
Amazing cultural experience. Don’t miss this, but a front seat ticket though or carry binoculars if you’re not sitting in front. Truly a masterful display of theatrics.

Went to see Mohini Dey and she, Mark and Gino were AMAZING!!! 5+++++ stars!!! I am however here to leave a review for Billboard Live Osaka. It’s a lovely venue, not huge and the sound is wonderful. I sat at the front in and the atmosphere was intimate which adds to the good feels when listening to music. It feels like everyone is jamming together. The service was lovely. The staff I interacted with had smiles on their faces and were attentive. There’s one thing I’ll fault and it is the food. It wasn’t great, maybe partially prepped in advance (I’m not sure). It was edible and arrived warm. I haven’t tried everything but for what I had it wasn’t up to par and the pina colada definitely needed a little bit more rum. Suffice to say, I will definitely eat elsewhere beforehand when I return next. Thus the venue as a whole was 4 stars but the experience definitely 5!!!

What a night! We got a little worried entering the mall at 7pm because there was no one else around, but the moment you enter Billboard Live Osaka, you are transported to another place altogether. Nature & Parks
Osaka Castle Park is a vast green space that offers various attractions such as gardens with cherry blossoms, athletic fields, and open-air theaters. It's a budget-friendly option for families, providing entertainment for children with play areas and fountains to splash around in. The park also features a stunning Japanese castle that can be admired or toured. Located near Tennoji Station, the neighborhood offers revitalization and increasing popularity with shopping, dining, and nightlife options.
Osaka Castle Park is a fantastic urban escape and a must-visit for its sheer historical and visual impact. While the castle keep itself is a modern concrete reconstruction housing a museum, its exterior grandeur and the massive scale of the moats, gates, and towering stone walls are genuinely awe-inspiring and highly photogenic. The park grounds surrounding the castle are the real highlight, providing a spacious and beautiful green oasis in the heart of the city. Strolling the expansive lawns, past the enormous granite blocks, and around the deep moats is incredibly relaxing. It's particularly stunning during cherry blossom season (spring) and when the plum blossoms bloom earlier in the year. The main drawback that prevents a perfect score is the castle keep interior—the museum is informative but feels very modern, which can be jarring if you're expecting a preserved historical structure like some other Japanese castles. However, the panoramic view from the top observation deck is excellent. Allow a couple of hours for the park alone, plus time for the castle museum if you're a history enthusiast. It’s an easy, worthwhile trip.
Omer M — Google review
Very large Castle & park!!! Took the tram up to the entrance for my senior parents, which really helped. Gear photo opportunities everywhere. Weather was good, late September early October. I picked up a really nice T-shirt & other souvenirs at the gift shop. A little pricey but good quality.
Marco P — Google review
As one of Japan's most famed landmarks and a symbol of reunification, the construction of the Osaka Castle was built in 1583 and has undergone many restorations throughout the centuries. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks around the vast Osaka Castle Park, which offers breathtaking views, particularly during the cherry blossom period. While it's free to walk around the park, it is paid entry to your main castle tower. Just admiring the castle's grandeur from the ground was enough for us! For those who want to take photos of the castle without swarms of tourists milling around, we recommend taking photos from the side or beyond the moat.

Osaka Castle Park is an absolutely beautiful place to visit! The scenery is stunning from the lush greenery to the majestic view of the castle itself. The castle museum offers a fascinating look into Japan’s rich culture and history, with well-presented exhibits. The observatory deck provides a great panoramic view of the city and surrounding park. Overall, it was a truly memorable experience! A wonderful blend of nature, history, and beauty. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Osaka!

Very neat place. We climbed the stairs to the 8th floor. I was a challenge in the heat and humidity. There is a one way elevator (up only i believe, but maybe I'm wrong since I took the stairs). The stair way is not air conditioned, but each level where the exhibits were is. Nice views from the top. Some nice gift shops in out buildings. I'd recommend a visit.

Nature's beauty is on display in full regalia. This park is so incredible. It has everything trees, flowers, birds singing, even the crow's cawing is not annoying. Come here in the fall and you'll see the fiery red colors of the leaves turning. The Japanese maples are absolutely stunning and you get these beautiful reflections on the water. This is world-class beauty.

Woah!!!! That’s the least I can say about this splendid masterpiece. We went at night and the castle was lit up throughout the whole night. I strongly encourage to go at night as it’ll be less crowded and less hot. There are patrols onsite for security obviously. It’s a white castle and super pretty especially at night. No tickets were bought to enjoy this beauty.

Osaka Castle is an impressive and beautifully preserved landmark that perfectly blends Japan’s rich history with modern city views. The walk through the park is relaxing, and the observation deck at the top offers a panoramic view of the city skyline that’s absolutely worth the climb. Everything is clean, well-organized, and family-friendly — a must-visit for anyone coming to Osaka!

Abeno Harukas, the tallest building in Osaka, is a marvel of modern architecture designed by Cesar Pelli. Opened in 2014, this 300-meter, 60-story tower offers an array of attractions. The free observatory on the 16th floor provides stunning views of the Kansai region through its expansive windows. For a more immersive experience, visitors can head to the top-level Harukas 300 observation deck for a fee.
Trivia: I’ve read it’s the tallest building in Japan from 2014 until 2023. A definite must-see! We spent a good amount of time here! Marvelled by the 360 view of the city 300m above ground, walked around, chilled and drank coffee, did some photo-ops for the whole fam. This skyscraper’s observation deck is so extensive. There were a lot of people but it never felt crowded. Edge The Harukas — their sky walk activity available by schedule or if weather is permitting. I just loved that after all the walking that we did in the morning, this was our last stop. We got to enjoy the Osaka breeze at night and had some down time before going back to our hostel.

The view was breathtaking , and it wasn’t too busy the day we went. Stayed past sunset and it’s stunning! Highly recommend this one over the Umeda Sky Garden if you have to choose one.
Angel K — Google review
I only had two days in Osaka but am glad I had Abeno Harikus on my list of places to visit. The view was superb. A little pricey but at least I didn't have to wait in a queue to get in. The experience was definitely worth the 2000 yen. Next time I'll go at night.
Jeff M — Google review
Visited the observatory on a Monday afternoon, no wait to buy tickets and a quick elevator ride to the 60th floor and you are there. Provided a great view of Osaka and just how big the city is. Worth staying till sunset and into twilight to get some nice photos but does start to get busy then. Can have a beer and sit overlooking the city in the open courtyard
Tom E — Google review
Honestly… it wasn’t worth the hype. The building is tall, yes — “tallest in Japan” sounds cool on paper — but once you’re actually up there, the view is kind of generic cityscape, nothing memorable. Osaka’s skyline just doesn’t have dramatic landmarks like Tokyo Tower, Skytree, Rainbow Bridge, or even Kobe Port Tower. Everything just looks gray and flat. The ticket price also feels way too high for what you get. You’re basically paying a premium just to see rooftops. The “Sky Garden” is more like a cafeteria patio than anything magical. A couple of photo spots, some glass panels, and then… you’re done in 10 minutes. If you’ve been to Umeda Sky Building already, or if you’ve been to other major city observatories, Abeno Harukas feels extremely skippable. I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way. Two stars.
Jack S — Google review
Tallest observatory tower in Osaka. Came here at 8pm on a weekday, and there was no lineup but I missed the beautiful sunset scene. If you want to take advantage of both the twilight and night view, then time your visit. There is a bit of light effect while taking the elevator up to the 60F and that was interesting.
Stanley F — Google review
The top deck viewing platform consists of several floors with chances to shop at a souvenir shop and eat in the middle of the observatory. It's beautiful at sunset! You also have the chance to get a photo done for free in a black&white newspaper style or printed in color against a fee.
Peri W — Google review
The Harukas garden on the 16th floor was free to enter and had a nice view with some benches to sit on and admire the view. It was not too busy in the morning. A great place to relax.

The Umeda Sky Building is a remarkable architectural gem in Osaka, standing tall at 173 meters. This iconic structure features a rooftop garden observatory that provides breathtaking panoramic views of the cityscape, making it an ideal spot for both daytime and nighttime visits. The experience is further enhanced by its vibrant restaurant floor, which captures the charm of early Showa Period Japan. Visitors can enjoy delicious meals while soaking in the historical ambiance.
It was an amazing experience watching the sunset from the observation deck. I loved the view, loved the escalator both up and down the building. We got hearts and engraved them for a forever memory. We had such an amazing and romantic time ! The only issue is you have to queue for some long wether you booked in advance or not and it was pretty long. If you don't mind the wait, I would 100% recommend. 👌
Kawtar E — Google review
This initially unassuming building has a quite good free area, with a shop and great views, but it's worth paying to go all the way up! No prebooking was needed when we came during a weekday morning. The open-air top has good views of the surrounding area, although the ideal south view is blocked by other skyscrapers, unfortunately. There's a very small museum with the history of the building, containing an excellent time-lapse video of the unbelievable central area raising process. There's a fairly good food & drink shop inside, worth a rest here if you can get a good window seat.
Jake L — Google review
Due to the roadworks and construction this was difficult to find. But once we found it, it was a lovely building. I used the Osaka Amazing Pass. Note that if you come before 3pm or is free with the pass. Unfortunately we can after 3pm so the pass allowed us a 10% discount. We bought the tickets on the day. There was no queue and the tickets were readily available. Then it was a lift and an elevator up to the top and the skyline was amazing. There is a specific area for photo spot. Not controlled by the staff but everyone was respectful by queuing up and not taking too long to take the pics. It was an amazing view. Also walked up the stairs to the outer layer of the sky building. It's outdoors with ample amount of safety so wonderful to go out and feel the warm breeze.
Ayesha A — Google review
One of our first activity in Osaka. We visited this building and queued for some time to get access to the elevator which will take us up to the observation floor - which is the top 2 floors of this building. Once upstairs, you have to get tickets and then, you are free to roam around the 2 floors. There are plenty of nice view all around. There is a cafe, lavatory as well as a souvenir shop. The rooftop is the most popular spot as you can view the Osaka skyline and it is gorgeous in a clear night. I wish we had come here during sunset as I am sure we could get aome amazing pictures then. We spent quite sometime admiring the cityscape. There are a few platforms set up for taking photos. We finally left when it became too cold due to the strong, chilly wind.
Gevs — Google review
Walked from Osaka Castle to Umeda Sky Building and the walk itself was nothing special, with the aggravating factor that there are roadworks going on. Also, expect to wait a long time to take the lift (almost 1 hour), and then to come down (it doesn’t matter if you buy a ticket in advance or not, it’s just the normal waiting time to take the lift as there are only two that take turns). The views are ok, but you clearly realise (if you haven’t done so already) that Osaka is a very grey and brownish city, with too many buildings. You almost see no green, no nature. Also, most of the windows are blocked by tables and chairs of the café and people seem to love to block your access to them, so it can be tricky to take decent pictures. Once again, souvenir shops and I didn’t really care for what they were selling. Was hoping for a great experience as every blog tells us it’s a must-see place, but in my opinion it wasn’t really worth the walk (it’s far from everything) and I preferred the views from the Osaka Castle. Oh, and bring cash, I believe the tickets machines only accept cash (2000 yen per adult), but I’m not sure.
André M — Google review
This is great place to see the skyline of the whole city. Highly recommend to check it out. Without paying ticket to the highest level, people can still visit the gift shop and see the city through the windows. But the outside visiting floor is awesome. Not dangerous because there is another open floor below the outdoor patio. So it's not very scary if people are afraid of heights.
Joseph Z — Google review
Interesting building and history, nice views. A bit too long waiting time for me. Very organized. On the top you have a nice cafe where you can take. A couple of selfies. Worth it if you are doing this and other Osaka activitys on the "Osaka amazing pass"(if pricing doesn't change "
Daniel M — Google review
Offers an astonishing night view of Osaka City, split into an open door and indoor area. The indoor area is quite huge and there were not many people in it. There are shops as well as eateries, providing merchandise and souvenirs for visitors to buy. A must come if you wish to view the night skies of Osaka, might be hard to find due to the nearby construction site.

Situated on the rooftop of the HEP Five shopping complex in Umeda, Osaka, the HEP Five Ferris Wheel is a striking red 75-meter tall attraction that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city and its surroundings. For a fee of 500 yen, visitors can enjoy a delightful 15-minute ride in one of the gondolas that can accommodate up to four people.
An unforgettable experience! The HEP Five Ferris Wheel offers stunning panoramic views of Osaka, especially at night when the city lights up. The ride is smooth and relaxing, and the air-conditioned gondolas make it comfortable even on warmer days. Located right in the heart of the city, it’s super convenient to access and a perfect break from shopping or sightseeing. Highly recommend it for couples, families, or anyone wanting a unique perspective of Osaka!

Visited this attraction with the Osaka amazing pass. It was a great way to view the city. This Ferris wheel has a Bluetooth speaker so you can listen to some tunes during your ride. I believe it was about 15 minutes to ride, which is a good amount of time to get some photos of the location, chill out to some tunes and soak in the beauty of Osaka.
Tearai — Google review
The HEP FIVE Ferris Wheel is definitely worth a ride, especially for sunset—the views were fantastic! There was a bit of a queue, about 20 minutes, but the wait is completely worth it. A major plus is that you get a private cabin; not sharing makes the whole experience much more personal and enjoyable. It was a great, relaxing way to see the city lights and the sky change color. Highly recommended for a unique view of Osaka!

Great experience and incredible views. I know there are bigger ferris wheels but this is one of the biggest I’ve ever been on. Fully enclosed and cooled and quiet. We went on a rainy day and appreciate they squeegeed the windows before we got in. While it was limited visibility because of the weather, still worth it for something cool to do on a rainy day.

The HEP FIVE Ferris Wheel is a giant red Ferris wheel located on the roof of the HEP FIVE shopping mall in the Umeda district of Osaka. The ride offers excellent 360-degree views of Osaka, including Osaka Castle, the Settsu Plain, and Awaji Island in the distance. The Ferris wheels are located quite close to Udema Sky Building in the Umeda area, so it's possible to visit both on the same day. I'd also recommend visiting at night.

We visited the HEP Five Ferris Wheel and it wasn’t crowded at all. After redeeming the Osaka E-Pass, we could board the gondola within a minute - super fast and hassle-free! The ride was very smooth and stable, even though it was high up. The gondola didn’t shake at all, even with the wind. We felt safe the whole time. The view of Osaka city from the top was beautiful. Staff were also very friendly and helpful. A great experience overall - definitely worth it with the Osaka E-Pass!

Went here on a weekday noon. No line, bought ticket at the machine in less than 5 mins & we enjoyed the stunning view of Osaka. Bear in mind they only accept cash. I would def recommend going here during the day + clear skies combo. You’ll get the nicest view of Osaka with no crowd.
Nadia B — Google review
Great experience. Not too crowded the day i went there. It's part is Osaka e-pass so no need to purchase a separate ticket if you have Osaka e-pass. Process from getting into the building to getting tickets to on-boarding on to the wheel was smooth. Lot of shopping options as well in the building.

Osaka Shochikuza Theatre is a historic venue that survived World War II bombing raids, making it the only remaining theater in the area. It hosts a variety of performances including classical kabuki plays, opera, modern dramas and musicals. As Osaka's only kabuki theatre, Shochikuza offers an opportunity to witness traditional Japanese drama. Kabuki, recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage, features stylized performances of song, mime and dance.
Attended the “Night Kabuki in Osaka” theater show and had a blast! The performance was a unique and captivating experience, offering a wonderful insight into Japanese culture. The colorful costumes, intricate movements, and storytelling were mesmerizing. Highly recommend for a fun and culturally enriching evening!
Jane — Google review
A majestic theatre in the midst of the hustle and bustle of prime tourist territory. The building itself is worth a visit, whether or not one has time to see anything being performed. Plenty to choose from if one has the time. A change of pace from the commercial chaos outside and all around. Nice just to look at. Worth observing and taking in.
Timothy P — Google review
Really interesting from a cultural appreciation point of view, but overall I probably wouldn't recommend if you don't have any Japanese listening ability as no English support is provided beyond brief plot summaries. Theater itself is beautiful and the acoustics are impeccable. Really easy to hear all of the dialogue and music. It's also somewhat warm and apparently it's normal for people to fall asleep during the show, as I spotted multiple audience members who had. Tickets were 4000 yen a person for the upper deck. Evening show was split into three acts - a play, a dance, and another play. We only stayed for the first two acts. It's unfortunate but some of the dance is choreographed in a way that you literally just cannot see some of it if you sit in the upper deck, which annoyed me. I hope that's not the case for other dances they put on here. I think I would be more inclined to recommend people to go if they sold the acts separately for maybe 2000 yen a piece. The first play was actually very good, even with just my very elementary Japanese listening abilities.
Eliot C — Google review
The kabuki performance was absolutely worth watching—truly a memorable and moving experience. The ticket price was very reasonable considering the quality and richness of the show. While wearing the English audio guide can be a bit distracting at times, it adds great value by explaining the unique details and cultural context, which made the performance even more touching. Just a friendly tip: for shows running from May 14 to May 25, the stage is T-shaped, so keep that in mind when selecting your seat.
Yu C — Google review
great show! feel tradition feel japan
Leon S — Google review
I saw a full kabuki show here and had a good time. I don't know very much Japanese, but I still had fun seeing a kabuki show. I love theater and it was a bit slow and my eyes were dropping at points, but worth checking out. Very other worldly, and different from western plays. Worth it if you have a flair for theater. I would recommend seeing the last 2 part act if you are coming the story is less rushed and much easier to follow if you don't know Japanese. Be warned this theater doesn't have computer translators to English only Japanese, and they sell a book with the lines in English for 1800 yen, but as a backpacker I couldn't fit it in my bag so I didn't get it.
Abi ( — Google review
Kabuki was amazing. Very strict rules tho. Bring ur own food for the break and book the tickets on the original Japanese website with translator to not get ripped off

Located in Tennoji Park, Tennoji Zoo is one of the oldest zoos in Japan, established in 1915. Spanning 11 hectares, it houses over a thousand animals from more than 200 species. The zoo aims to provide natural habitats for its inhabitants and features diverse environments such as the African Savanna for lions and other animals. It's a must-visit attraction when exploring Osaka with kids.
I went to the Zoo of Tennoji, Osaka, Japan. I think it's really worth to pay ¥500 as entrance fee. We can see lots of birds species and other animals either. If you want to the place that won't cost a lot for sight seeing, I would like to recommend it. My favorite was red pandas, penguins and seals. They were so cute and playing all the time. 🥰 A nice place for the animal lovers 🥰🥰 HOPE you enjoy these photos and can make decision.

We visited in the summer (July) and it was extremely hot. There aren’t many shaded areas or air-conditioned spots throughout the zoo so be prepared for the heat. 😅☀️However if you’re looking for a place to cool down. I recommend visiting the Reptile House. It has air conditioning and is a nice break from the sun. Overall it’s a fun place to explore but just keep in mind that the weather can be tough during summer.
Navara K — Google review
Stopped by as part of the Osaka Amazing Pass as it was on my route and it had been a while since I had last been to a zoo. Far from being the best or biggest zoo out there but a fair range of animals to be seen, in comfortable enough living conditions I think. More of a spot for families with young children.
Byu S — Google review
We went to the Zoo using our Osaka Amazing Pass. The entrance fee was very reasonable even without the pass. If I remember correctly it was 300 yen for an adult. Enjoyed our time looking at a lot of animals.
Lynn A — Google review
This is a medium size zoo. We went on Sunday, but not too crowded. There is no queue at the ticket area. Most of the area doesn’t have roof or cover so it is too hot to walk in outdoor area almost of the time. However, still have some zone in the building so we can take a rest there. They provide a lot of wedding machine around the zoo. They also have a restaurant, but we didn’t use it. Animals look healthy, but not much.
Charlie V — Google review
Much improved in the last few years. Has had some major renovations, with more to come. My kids had a great time! Also it’s quite cheap compared to many zoos around the world, 500 yen for an adult, 200 yuan for a child over 6. Under that age is free.
Josh A — Google review
It was affordable, so we got to enter without spending too much, and without a line! We got to see a lot of animals, but I couldnt shake the sad feeling abt them being so sad, especially the monkeys. The tiger and wolves were also on the slimmer side. It was fun overall, but hopefully I can come back and see healthier and happier animals
Zowela — Google review
If you are in osaka and want to visit a zoo with the family it's very wholesome to go here and check the animals out with friends or family or loved ones. There were on a construction sites where you can't exactly pass through to make your pathing more easier but it's all in all fun walk through the zoo.

Discover the captivating teamLab Botanical Garden Osaka, situated within the expansive Nagai Park in Osaka. By day, this botanical garden boasts a diverse collection of 1,200 plant species. As night falls, it transforms into a mesmerizing digital art museum with six distinct areas featuring interactive artworks that respond to natural elements and human presence.
This was my very first time visiting teamLab Botanical Garden in Osaka, and it truly exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I entered, I was completely mesmerized by the fusion of nature and digital art. The glowing installations, interactive lights, and serene atmosphere made me feel like I had stepped into another world. It’s amazing how the art blends so harmoniously with the natural landscape — it felt both peaceful and exciting at the same time. The nighttime setting adds an extra level of wonder, with lights responding to movement and sound in the most beautiful way. Each section of the garden offered something different to explore, and I loved taking my time to walk through and soak it all in. You can tell a lot of thought and creativity went into every detail. As someone who loves both nature and art, this was the perfect combination. I highly recommend visiting, whether you’re an art lover, photographer, or just looking for something unique to do in Osaka. I’ll definitely be coming back again — it’s an unforgettable experience! The best time I would recommend it during the sunset time. Make sure you reserve the tickets for this team lab.
Reddz708 — Google review
this place is really not bad at night. there was various different spots of light such that you wouldn't feel bored, it ranges from colourful trees to some kind of eggs to a small light show in the forest. I feel like the Tokyo one is maybe better tho.. but this is still something decent. the place was relatively big, I would recommend to go to this place with a group of friends. I would say that this place is very good for dates and pictures! it is a 10 minute walk away from the station too, so it's convenient. there was also relaxing music playing which fits the ambience.

Visiting teamLab Botanical Garden Osaka was an enchanting experience. The combination of nature and digital art created a magical atmosphere that changed with every step. Walking through the illuminated garden at night felt like entering another world—trees, ponds, and pathways came alive with light and sound, blending seamlessly with the natural surroundings. What I loved most was how the artwork responded to movement and the environment, making every moment feel unique and personal. The reflections on the water, the soft music, and the glowing colors were simply mesmerizing. It’s a peaceful yet immersive experience—perfect for anyone who appreciates art, technology, and the beauty of nature. Truly one of Osaka’s most unforgettable attractions.
Hiệp V — Google review
Went to TL Botanical around 7pm on a warm November evening. I will start this review by saying that this is my first TeamLabs experience, so I'm very much treating it on its own merits. You're essentially doing a night time walking tour of a park with illuminated sculpture installations and music/sound. So set expectations accordingly. It takes around an hour to hour and a half to get all the way round the handful of exhibits, and is generally a pleasant experience with some nicely thought out installations. Crowds were minimal, so I'd say the winter on a weekday is a good time to go. Zero queuing and ample space to see and photograph the installations. At time of writing, it's priced fairly reasonably for what it is, just over £10. Compared to the cost of attractions in the UK I feel like this represents fairly decent value, though possibly feels slightly expensive in the context of Japan overall as most attractions are very cheap really. My only real criticism is that it's very, very easy to trip over things as your night vision is almost non existent from continuous viewing of lit up objects, and the illumination around the paths is kept to the absolute bare minimum - so watch your step. If you're keen on night time photography you'll be able to get some great shots, I feel like this absolutely adds some value if you're into taking photos. Go in with an open mind and reasonable expectations, and you should have a nice hour or two.
James L — Google review
The TeamLab Botanical Garden in Osaka is absolutely stunning. Visiting at night feels like stepping into a dream — the combination of art, light, and nature is unforgettable. One highlight for me was the installation “Pillars that Dance with the Wind.” Watching these illuminated columns gently sway and change with the breeze was magical. It felt as if the garden itself was alive and interacting with the visitors. The whole garden is beautifully curated, blending digital art seamlessly with natural landscapes. Every path reveals a new surprise, and the atmosphere is both peaceful and inspiring. If you’re in Osaka, this is a must-see — it’s not just an exhibition, it’s an experience that stays with you.
Thomas M — Google review
I definitely recommend this exhibition for people who enjoy interactive art! The fact that it is held in a park, at night… with leaves rustling, sand crunching underneath your feet, and soft music playing… It's just magical and relaxing. Perfect to end the day! It is also quite affordable for the kind of experience you're getting, so I would definitely encourage anyone who needs a little but of a breather from the hustle and bustle of Osaka’s tourist crowds :)
Maja Z — Google review
This place is beautiful and has some great scenery spots if you never have visited a teamlab museum and you are only able to visit osaka. I would recommend checking it out! Fun with family and friends for memories. However it can be quite short if you just rush through it without taking pictures or properly checking things out.
Chi — Google review
I think the botanical garden of teamlabs is a must visit when here. The light show in combination with the garden is simply stunning. The simple use of light and sounds together with the foliage makes for beautiful scenery and experiences. The price is about 2200 yen, which is a little expensive for how long the experince is, but I would recommend it for first time visitors still. It is possible to order online to ensure your timeslot and save a few yen.

(Translated by Google) I participated in the marche that is held here regularly. First of all, the appearance was stylish and the atmosphere was very nice! It's a two-story building with private rooms, and the interior is made of wood and has sofas, so I felt it was a very comfortable shop! I went by car, but there were plenty of coin parking lots nearby, so I didn't have to look for a place to park. I went there a couple of times when a marche was held, but next time I would like to try it when I was working at a regular store. It is very convenient as it is close to Nankai Namba Station and Namba Parks and has good access.

The maximum capacity for renting this building is 250 people, and it can also be used as a venue for wedding after-parties and events! Of course, you can also use the sauna-only plan, but we recommend a set plan that also includes sauna food! I was very happy to enjoy the perfect spice curry and special blended tea after sauna! [Sauna details] ● Sauna 85 degrees Self Rollie This is an authentic Finnish style sauna that allows for self-rolling and can comfortably accommodate around 4 people. When I applied it, I could smell the pleasant aroma and it felt good! ● Water bath Approximately 15 degrees The water bath, which is about 15 degrees Celsius, has a chiller, so it's hot all year round! There is also an overhead shower, so even those who don't like cold baths can cool down with peace of mind! ● Rest space There is a comfortable chair There are deck chairs right outside the water bath where you can rest freely. Furthermore, there was a chair just outside the building, so I was able to take a bath in the outside air, which was great! The interior also has a comfortable woody texture. The actual event will be held in the hall on the 2nd floor. About 60 people sat and looked at the screen. There are pillars here and there, so Depending on where you sit, your vision may be obstructed. Everywhere in the space becomes a photo spot, I especially liked that it was linked to this event. I wonder if the organizers prepared hors d'oeuvres and drinks this time? Originally there was a kitchen on the 1st floor. There seems to be a system where you can also ask for food. It has a great capacity and a beautiful space, This is a space you might want to consider when hosting an event. You might be able to catch it unexpectedly because it's in a place you wouldn't normally think of, such as a business meeting. Came here around 11pm, they are open pretty late. They were packed, we sat in the 2nd floor. Smoking restaurant. You order and pay through a website. Menu is in Japanese, but the waiter was really friendly and helped us access the wifi and translate our browser to english. We got the yellow tail sashimi, salmon sashimi, grilled salmon, and grilled fish head. Don’t know what kind of fish the fish head was, but it was amazing! Would go back for it.

Shin Sekai, also known as "New World," is a vibrant district in Osaka that was established in 1912. It features a 103-meter tower, numerous restaurants, and souvenir shops. The area is home to various attractions such as Shinsaibashi, Universal Studios Japan, Osaka Castle, Dotonbori, and the Main Tower of Osaka Castle.
Both day time and nighttime visits are fine as long as you don’t miss it. Buildings are all 3D as if popping out. The shopping arcade also have retro gaming centers for nostalgic experiences. Place is touristy but a must visit

Great neighborhood to visit for food and shops and go to the zoo and Tower. I'm not a huge fan of towers or zoos so I'd skip those unless you just love towers or zoos. We did the slide in the tower too but that wasn't that great either. We had the amazing pass so those things were all included in the pass so it was worth it for me to do those things but I wouldn't pay for those on their own.

I loved visiting Shinsekai! There are many shops and eateries in the area. There is one long and wide street with smaller streets and lanes branching out from it. I really enjoyed exploring as many as I could. There were arcade like stores to play at as well. I ended up spending more time here than I planned. The area was busy with many tourists but I thought this added to the exciting atmosphere. I would highly recommend visiting!

Bright and lively and lots of food. Really depends what you want to eat. Creative sign boards capture tourist attention. And this place is not as crowded as Dotonburi area. Travelling with kids will have some down side. Japanese are strict when it comes to shop that sells alcohol. No entry for minor less than 20.

Compared to other street markets, this one was really small. It is also older and little bit dirty. There are few food, shoe and apparel stores. The prices of products similar to other markets. Being right next to Osaka Tower there are plenty of tourists in the area but we didn’t anyone doing much shopping. Everyone was taking photos in front of the market sign. When we went most of the stores were closed. It looked nothing like what we saw in others pictures. Better to come here at night time.

🎡 Shinsekai – Nostalgic Chaos and Culinary Delights in Osaka Shinsekai, meaning “New World,” is one of Osaka’s most eccentric and character-rich neighborhoods—a place where retro charm, local grit, and neon chaos collide. Originally developed in the early 20th century with Paris and New York as design inspirations, the area now feels like a time capsule from postwar Japan, layered with decades of pop culture, street food, and working-class energy. At the center stands Tsutenkaku Tower, a beloved symbol of Osaka’s skyline. While modest in height, its observation deck offers panoramic views and a quirky shrine to Billiken, the “God of Things As They Ought to Be.” Surrounding the tower is a maze of narrow streets packed with colorful signs, pachinko parlors, and restaurants serving Osaka’s signature dishes. Shinsekai is especially famous for kushikatsu—deep-fried skewers of meat, seafood, and vegetables. Shops like Daruma and Yaekatsu serve up crispy, golden bites with a side of local banter. Just remember: no double-dipping in the communal sauce. Despite its gritty reputation, Shinsekai is safe and welcoming, especially during the day. It’s a great place to experience Osaka’s casual, humorous spirit. Whether you're here for the food, the retro vibes, or the photo ops, Shinsekai offers a raw, authentic slice of the city that’s hard to forget.

Pure Osaka is a trendy nightclub located in the heart of Osaka's Shinsaibashi district, just a minute away from the iconic Glico Man Sign on the Dotonbori Canal. Known for its lively parties and satisfied guests, Pure Osaka hosts various themed events and also accommodates private bookings.
On a Sunday night 5/5/24, the club was pretty packed with Japanese and tourists that are nice and sociable. Has 2 security guards that makes the club appears safe. 1k entrance for both men and women, 2k yen for 4 shots is pretty awesome deal! The DJ is engaging to the crowd. The dancers are pretty good! The space is not too big but you still have space to dance. The problem is people smoke shisha and cigarettes inside the club and if you are Health conscious, this is not for you. Literally, the club will be filled with smoke and I can't tell if it's from the cigarettes or effects.

It’s an alright vibe for a nightclub. Mostly foreigners. You get a stamp when you enter. Lockers available to store your belongings. Again, people were just seen standing around with drinks and there wasn’t a lot of dancing going on. The music playlist followed an RNB 2000’s vibe, so that was nice. Drinks were weak, as we didn’t taste the alcohol as much. We ordered a Red Bull Vodka. More Red Bull than there is Vodka. The bathrooms are divided per level, with men on one level and women on another. With my experience, I went out of the bathroom and there was a male in the women’s bathroom brushing his teeth. I was concerned. I do feel like this does need to be monitored to ensure customers feel safe.

Weirdest experience I’ve had at a club. Bartender kept digging his nose. I ordered a redbull vodka, bartender added some other energy drink. I asked “do you have redbull?” and he put in his translator “even if we had, you would have to pay for it”. Drinks were spiked - whether it was the bartender or someone else, I’m not sure yet. All staff inside were CONSTANTLY on their phones and extremely rude (especially this lady). The bouncers were okay. I’ll post a full review on Reddit.

Warning, this is a rip-off! I can't imagine where the good reviews come from. They must be fake. While musical taste is subjective, playing Pitbull on repeat and otherwise the "best of" the 2010s has to offer is far from good quality. The prices are, to put it mildly, outrageous; even by Japanese standards, they are far too high for the quality. To top it all off, we received a stamp for re-entry, and when we wanted to go back into the club, we were expected to pay the full entrance fee again. It feels like a complete tourist trap.

The Tonbori River Cruise offers a 20-minute sightseeing trip under nine landmark bridges in Osaka. It's a quick and enjoyable way to experience the vibrant Dotonbori area, especially at night when the neon billboards light up the canal. The bright yellow open-air boats provide a unique perspective of the city's famous sights, and knowledgeable guides share hidden gems and historical insights during the cruise.
Had a great experience with the Tombori River Cruise. Had no waiting time probably since we took it around 5:30 when sun is setting which for me is highly recommended time! You'll see beautiful sunset while on the cruise. The guide was the coolest and most energetic I've seen! He tries to speak in english and explain to us so he is really commendable! We used our Osaka E-Pass here and claiming it is a breeze!

This is one of the most sought after activities in Dotonburi. The boarding area is in the prime location where most people come to see Dotonburi. They have plenty of time slots, once every 30 minutes from morning to night. But those fill up very quickly, so better to buy tickets ahead of time to guarantee your spot. In the boat the seats are on first come first serve basis. It is better to sit on the left side of the boat, as you get to see a clear view of the river and Dotonburi when the boat turns. The boat ride is about 20-25 minutes. It goes whole length of Dotonburi in each direction. There’s a tour guide who explains different landmarks and historical details different spots along the ride. I wasn’t mostly excited to cruise along the river to enjoy both sides of the area. It was fascinating to see the shops, lights, billboards and the people from the middle of the river.
Nehal A — Google review
It's a fun thing to do, seeing Dotonburi from the water give a different perspective. It's a 20 min short cruise and the staff will provide a brief explanation of the things that we will see ahead. I didn't make the booking in advance and there's a boat for every 30 mins or so.
Suciani A — Google review
This is a nice experience to have while visiting Osaka. It is best to do this river cruise at night time to get the full experience. The last boat leaves at 9 pm and each journey last approximately 20 minutes. It costs 2,000 yen per person to do this trip. It is a little expensive for what you experience but as a once off it is worth it. Generally they sell out very quickly if you book online but you can also join the que and jump on last minute if there is space. It is best to sit either side or front of the boat not the middle.
BCL A — Google review
I redeemed this with the Klook Osaka Amazing Pass. The staff was kind enough to let me know I had to redeem the ticket with the ticket office and there was barely any wait. When we got on, the boat tour member was very friendly and explained the rules of no standing, no umbrellas, and more. She played the trumpet, made the experience informative and engaging, and the overall experience lasted 20-25 minutes.
Jenny H — Google review
This boat ride is so nice, it should be illegal to miss it when visiting dotonbori. It feels so magical going across the river and seeing all the pretty signs and eateries. I highly recommend completing this activity!!! The ladies in our boat were so incredibly kind and gave us a wonderful experience!
Fishmagic25 — Google review
Cool river cruise. Not very long but it's all you need. Used Osaka amazing pass, booked our tickets at the reception in the morning to be sure we had the 5pm slot. The boat was full when we got on. I would recommend going at night time because it looks very nice with all the signs and screens illuminated. The staff was very nice and funny.

I did this boat cruise with the Osaka amazing pass during the daytime. It was a good little cruise along the Dotonbori River. The guide along the cruise was lovely and very informative about the location. I recommend doing it with your pass. It's a good way to view the city.

Located in the lively Namba area, Osaka Club Ammona is a well-liked nightlife destination for both locals and visitors. With three floors featuring diverse music genres such as EDM, hip-hop, and house, the club offers a vibrant atmosphere and themed events that cater to party enthusiasts. Additionally, it is known for its mascot character Mona King who DJs at the venue and adds to the energetic music scene in Osaka.
We visited Ammona on the last night of our holiday in Asia as wanted to finish off partying and experience the renowned Osaka Clubbing scene. The team did not disappoint. Everyone from security to bar staff, DJ's and dancers were warm, friendly, professional and made sure you have a great night out. I did not see any stupid people or behaviour which means security must do a great job screening who is admitted and removing anyone who becomes stupid quickly and discreetly. Everyone was just having a great time and felt safe the whole evening. Some reviews say the drinks are expensive, this is true comparing to a basic bar however this is a premium nightclub that needs to cover the cost of running a huge team, venue and equipment to ensure a great night out so in the context, I think the drink prices are very reasonable. They are also much cheaper than at a comparable nightclub in Australia where we come from. We look forward to visiting again when we return next year.

Absolutely amazing night! Hands down one of the best nightclubs I've ever been to. The vibe was electric from the moment I walked in – incredible lighting, top-tier sound system, and the DJ knew exactly how to keep the energy going all night long. The staff were super friendly and professional, and the service was fast even when it got crowded. The crowd was fun, stylish, and full of good vibes – no drama, just pure enjoyment. Drinks were perfectly made and reasonably priced for the quality. The overall atmosphere was a perfect mix of luxury and underground edge. If you're looking for an unforgettable night out, this is the place to be. 10/10 would recommend, and I’ll definitely be coming back. 🔥🎶💃

Club Bambi is a vibrant and high-energy dance club situated in the heart of Osaka, Shinsaibashi. It's a popular spot for young party-goers who are looking to let loose and have a great time. The club features an eclectic mix of music from around the globe, with DJs spinning EDM, hip hop, and top-40 tracks. Throughout the week, guests can enjoy all-mix music with an EDM twist on Thursdays and occasional appearances by renowned domestic DJs.
The music is amazing. The only thing negative about this place is the bartender charged more than the price on the list. I showed him and he didn't care, 700 yen for a shot and he charged 1000 yen. Greedy because he saw that we are tourists.
El — Google review
Went as a group of four foreigners. For some odd reason they wanted us to pay as pairs instead of individually, but we asked if we could pay individually. However the tencho refused and said we could leave if we didn’t like it. Despite the rude behavior, we paid anyways. Majority of the club goers were Japanese, seemed like a popular club. I don’t know if it is usually like it, but the music selection was very poor in my opinion. Imagine listening to “make that azz clap” in a club with 80% percent dudes in there. Even the girls were just standing still, that’s how hard it was to vibe to the music. They were playing a mix of genres that were remixed from hip hop to etc. Understandably they did not want people standing/hanging around the bar unless you buying a drink. Overall, If the club had better music, we would have stayed longer.
Jeremiah E — Google review
You buy 5, 3 or 1 ticket if I remember correctly. You get free drink per ticket. You can smoke inside. Foreigners are ok. Security check your bags thoroughly. Problems: music is lame, most of the crowd are dudes. But fun fact, I had some adult tools in my backpack. The security guard was shocked when saw them. It was hilarious.
Roman K — Google review
The attitude was beyond mean at least for us 2 European girls. The security said in a rude manner with despise “Go home if you don’t follow rules” (literally) as my friend was smoking beside the line we were staying in. We didn’t know it was prohibited (she wasn’t the only one smoking). We fell discriminated and highly not welcome probably because we were the only ones non Japanese in the line.
Anna G — Google review
Felt like bar staff were ignoring me when I wanted to get some water. It was also quite expensive for the bottle I bought (£5) - no tap water it seems
Tom F — Google review
Overall my experience was really bad. The music was kinda meh, a little bit overpriced and the management of this club is a disaster. Around 1A.M it gets really crowded and, basically they let anyone in. There were a few times when I thought there would be a man crush! The worst part were the security guards. If you try to take a rest at the side of the dance floor (Basically because you can not dance) they force you back there! They were completely rude and careless that I would be not surpised is someday something bad happens
Nicolás B — Google review
Club Bambi was a disappointing experience. The overwhelming cigarette smoke made it unbearable to enjoy the evening. The exorbitant prices for drinks left a bitter taste. The small, cramped space was uncomfortable, and the dirty bathrooms were a major letdown. It is not recommended for those seeking a pleasant night out.
Jonathan — Google review
If you scroll all the way down, there are a TON of fake 5-star Japanese reviews. All are written by profiles with no pic and only one review ever on Google Maps. To be fair, there are also many positive reviews that look real but about half the reviews seem to be fake. As a tourist, I think it's safer to try Ammona, CrazyLand, or Gala. All of them the staff are actually friendly, there's space to dance, and most importantly, they're not going to scam you. Gala is busy on weekdays also.

Everything feels alive, loud, and a little magical, like a city that never tires of being young. Tourist Tip: Direct access to Shinsaibashi-Suji Shopping Arcade and Crysta Nagahori underground mall. Easy walk to Dotonbori and Amerikamura. Visit early morning to avoid crowds. Great nightlife nearby.

I got really surprised that they actually have a rooftop along with the street, with some decent shops alongside it. You can buy almost anything from there, though it's a bit crowded.
Lenzo C — Google review
An old station staff bumped his head on my face and didn't make any apology. When a ticket machine failed to accept my coins, I called for assistance. Two staff members arrived and began working on the issue. From behind the machine, in the staff-only area, an older staff member asked me a question. I responded by asking if he can speak english(すみません、英語できますか?) Then he suddenly stuck his head out to check the ATM screen—his head bumping my face. He didn't even say a word before it and he didn't seem to care. I assumed it was an accident and thanked him in the end(ありがとうございます) but he just ignored me.

Yakiniku horumon Sakagami Uranamba is a cozy restaurant with a wood-lined interior that offers set menus featuring fried noodles and the experience of grilling meats at your table. While some found the prices to be on the higher side, others appreciated the affordable meat options. The menu is primarily in Japanese, so having Google Translate handy is recommended. The staff is known for being friendly and accommodating.
They have a takoyaki store on the corner of the ground level and it really scratched our late night craving itch. We ordered 6 pieces for 600 yen and the waitress even took the time to draw a little thank you message (she was really fast at that too)!

affordable meat, good for the price. our favorite was the pork. someone cooks your food for you, but your beef might be quite well done. loved the bean sprouts! the owner is so friendly. note that there’s no english menu, so you’ll need your google translate. there is also indoor smoking. everyone has to order a drink each.

Karin B — Google review
I had seen horumon on television for years. I knew Osaka would be the place for me to lose my Horumon virginity. Sakagami was the place thanks to my bartender from the other night. Though it was a very local crowd the staff was very understanding to my lack of Japanese. I went in fearless knowing there would be some things that might not pair well with my tastebuds. Horumon certainly isn’t for everyone but for those who either love it or want to give it a try with understanding people this is the place. You are given your own personal cast iron grill on a hot plate. Each group will have their own cook assigned to them and they’ll do all the work. They’ll walk you through the menu with gestures, English if they know some, and the menu with plenty of photos. I had a fun time trying something new that I ended up loving quite a bit. Some tough textures that could scare people but the flavors were great and they’ll explain the best way for you to enjoy it if they see you struggling. There’s plenty of complimentary rice, sprouts, and grilled noodles to help you through any tough moments. In the end a fun traditional experience and with most things in Osaka best with a drink or four!

I had a fantastic time celebrating my birthday at this club. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the music was amazing. If you're visiting from out of town and want to experience a great club, this is a must-visit spot! The only drawback of the place was the strong smell of smoke.
Michelle — Google review
I had a time! There was a very mixed crowd here. People from all over the world, partying together to mostly American music. There was hip hop, reggaeton, afrobeats, pop. The night I went, on a cold Friday in January, there were discounted entry and drink tickets. The free, pre-made drinks on tap were pretty good considering. Despite the blast I had, I gave it only four stars because of the smoke. People smoked inside, and I walked out smelling like an ashtray. My new coat still reeks one week later. If you can't take that smell, you've been warned.

They told us you can’t go in with a tank top buy a shirt and you’re getting three drinks for free and pay ¥1000 to go in there after we come back with the shirt they say sorry you meant too late. Big lively place with darts, foosball, billiards, table tennis, etc. The cocktails are good, but the food is very average. They accept only upfront cash as payment. Food wise, this place was fine. Not specifically bad, but came nowhere close to some of the other restaurants around, even on the same street. The shrimps where a bit disappointing, and since they only do shrimp it isn't a great start. We ordered a bunch of food, as well as a water and a coke. They then proceeded to tell us that we had to order 1 paid drink each (regardless of all the food we ordered and a 400 cover charge per person). Unlikely that I would go back. There are much nicer food places around the area.

NOON+CAFE, located in Nakazakicho underneath the JR Kyoto line train tracks, is a versatile spot that transforms from a cozy daytime cafe to a lively club and event space at night. The venue hosts an array of live performances and DJ sets, catering to various musical tastes from foreign bands to techno enthusiasts. While the sound of passing trains adds to its unique ambiance, it's worth noting that smoking is permitted on the premises.

I really loved the vibe of this place, and was looking forward to checking it out. The coffee was good but sadly the baristas working there made us feel like an inconvenience. Although I speak pretty good Japanese, I didn’t understand something quickly enough and the staff was a little short with me. We felt unwelcome for a bit but decided to stay and enjoy the coffee, because the building is actually really cool! I hope if I go again it will be better.

this is such a cool building! under the train and filled with incredible art and unique articles. their iced lattes are yum! if we lived here, it would def be a regular spot but also felt quite unwelcome by the barista.
Portia W — Google review
Cool place under the tracks. Don't be afraid by the sound of trains passing a few feet above your head. I use this place to study before school with some decent coffee and comfortable atmosphere. Heads up, though, like most cafés here, people are free to smoke as they please which can be off-putting for some.

We stopped by here in the afternoon to take a break from walking. The system is that you choose your seat first and then order. Staff are very insistent about that which gave off a borderline soup nazi vibe at first but other than that it was a pleasant place with a very nice vibe.

Visitors can enjoy the quaint decor and furnishings while indulging in treats like scones, hojicha cake, and blueberry cheesecake. Such a cute little cafe. If you want to experience the real Osaka scene like a local then come visit. I believe the owner makes all the desserts. They look fantastic. She was so friendly and polite. Would definitely come back. Highly recommended, a must try, you won’t regret it. Just use and follow google maps to get there.

This is the cutest cafe in Osaka! The staff was so kind and courteous. I told the lady I have a nut allergy and she showed me exactly what has and doesn't have nuts. I ordered the blueberry jam cake and a hot honey coffee. It was so delicious and worth stopping for. Many cakes in Japan are very light and unfulfilling, but this one had the perfect density. They also have cute souvenirs like postcards and can badges. I will definitely be coming back here soon!

No words for this tiny little gem with the most delicious freshly baked cakes and the kindest owner. Away from the noisy streets, hidden in a quiet alley, you’ll get a tasty, relaxing stop.

We met the most wonderful, kind and friendly woman who works here. This spot holds such a special place in my heart from our trip. The food was incredible and the coffees were also so good. Tidy Cafe is a wonderfully unique experience that I highly recommend!

A cozy cafe in a small alley with a very nice and welcoming owner that serves good coffee and delicious cookies and cakes! I ordered a formidable size of hot coffee for around 500 yen and my friend also got a cake for a little bit less than that which tasted very good! At first glance, the cafe looks a little bit small until you notice there is also a cozy room across from the shop where you can sit, which we did! If you want to take a break from the otherwise hectic life of Osaka, this is the place!

Bar
Bar Moon Walk Higashishinsaibashiten is a unique exception to the usual aversion to bars with seating fees. The bar offers a wide variety of affordable drinks, including cocktails with unfamiliar ingredients clearly listed. Despite the initial inconvenience of having to register and order from a mobile phone, the self-order/pay system is fast and seamless. The bartender is efficient, English-friendly, and serves excellent drinks in this smaller yet vibrant establishment.
Wonderful bar with authentic atmosphere and variety of drinks! Staff is friendly and smiley. You can play games and eat different fried potatoes. There’s a TV and this tie played one piece. Moreover, the bar looks a bit geek-like because there’re many figures. I really like it here. Xoxo

The Osaka Walking Tour is a comprehensive experience that takes you to the must-see attractions of the city, including Osaka Castle, Dotonbori, and Shinsekai. It's perfect for those with limited time who want to explore the highlights of Osaka with an excellent guide who can provide an 'off script' tour.
We absolutely loved our Hotspots and Hidden Gems walking tour with Adam. We did this as a private tour as we had our two children in tow who are 8 and 5 years old. Initially we were not sure how the kids would go on a 4 hour walking tour but the time went by so quickly and we all had such a great time. Adam was a wonderful guide, full of knowledge and interesting facts about the city of Osaka. He was so kind and entertaining, he focused on making our tour fun for the kids. We got to try some yummy foods and we even checked out some cool arcades. We all thoroughly enjoyed our time with Adam and learning so much about Osaka from history to food and beyond. We felt this tour really set us up well for the rest of our stay as we went back to many of the places Adam showed us, he even helped us navigate the metro which was much appreciated. We would highly recommend this tour.

My wife and I went on this really interesting and enjoyable easy walking tour on 11th Sept. There was only another German couple with us, so it was nice and personal. And right from the entertainment building opposite the meeting point at the start of the tour, we were kept captivated and entertained on the history, culture and significance of the wide range of sights, buildings and even souvenier shops by our very competent guide Kiko throughout. We would not have known that it was his very first guiding job if he had not told us. So heartiest congrats and many thanks to Kiko and we can highly recommend this tour to others interested in fascinating Osaka.

We had a fantastic time with our private guide, Adam. Because the tour was in New Year’s Eve, he had to be a bit creative with closures. In addition, he tailored the tour to my family which included two teenage boys. He started the tour off by asking what we’d seen already. He had a great sense of humour, was knowledgeable and was in no rush at any point. We also did their food tour the night before. These two tours were the absolute highlight of our Osaka trip. Highly recommend.

Incredible tour! A real highlight. We took the hidden gems tour, and our fantastic guide Michael led us to amazing food and sites in Osaka while providing a wide breadth of information. Live music venue
Rug Time Osaka is a charming jazz bar located in the bustling Namba district. Situated along Midosuji between Namba and Shinsaibashi Stations, this cozy nightspot offers live jazz music, pub eats, cocktails, beer, and wine. It's a popular spot for both locals and visitors looking to unwind to the sounds of talented local professionals and emerging young jazz musicians.
Nice, little, intimate joint with a very nice vibe. Jazz vocalist, Lorna Cifra and pianist, Phillip Strange performed the evening we attended and they were nothing short of amazing. The food and bar staff were brilliant with the setting very fitting. I would recommend this place for any jazz enthusiasts of all levels.

Good vibe, Good times Located on the upper floor of an building this Jazz club, Which I am sure is called Rug Time and not Ragtime, is centrally located making it an easy visit for any tourist visiting the area. Performances last over and hour and it can be included in the itinerary of activities to carry out provided you are a fan of Jazz. I would highly recommend it if this is you. When we looked around for a venue to visit we came across quite a few. This was the closest to our hotel and had some good reviews so the decision was easy. We visited on Wednesday to book for Friday. The staff member was very polite and understood what we wanted and we booked the sofa area right next to the band area. The venue itself is well maintained and has a cosy atmosphere. The bar is well stocked and reminded me of the speakeasys that I visit in London. The small round tables are well spaced to give you the room to relax and enjoy the music while keeping some privacy. The lighting was delicate and romantic. We tried out the cocktails and these were well made. My Singapore sling was bitter sweet to the taste. The XYZ which I have never had before had a refreshing taste naturally being made of rum, lemon liqueur and lemon juice. As we sat and started listening we were really happy that Takeshi Shimizu, who was playing as part of a trio, translated what he said in Japanese to English. This made us feel very welcome. They played for over an hour. The music was clear to hear and we all listened eager to enjoy the night and drink our fine cocktails. The night went quickly and we stayed a bit longer talking with Takeshi and the two other players in the Trio. Its easy to make friends in Japan if you are in the right place.. and the Rug Time is the right place.

Very enjoyable meal. Nice ambiance and staff. Fun way to try a lot of dishes we probably wouldn’t have ordered for ourselves otherwise. More expensive than we thought it would be (10,000 yen for 8 courses) but worth it for the experience. Our favorites were the vegetable yakitori and the tsukune - so moist and flavorful! The chef was very kind and patient with me on the phone as I don’t speak Japanese and was trying to make a reservation using my translation app. I was surprised when we later got to the restaurant and saw he was taking reservations on the phone while cooking multiple dishes at once!

The tofu in the sweet broth is also very Osaka-like👍 Next I chose potato water! This also goes well with loach, seriously‼ ️ Since the two dishes were gone, I asked for the famous appetizer combo - Yellowtail sashimi @ 580 yen - Horse mackerel namero @ 480 yen The plump yellowtail and miso-flavored namero go well with sake, right? 🍶 So, I added some local sake and the cast was complete♪ I also had a glass of Asahara Sake Brewery's Junmai sake "Biwa no Sasanami", which I had never seen before🍶 It was mellow and sweet, and went "◎" with the sake, so it was great😋😋 The atmosphere gradually became more comfortable, but unfortunately I didn't know how much I would drink if I stayed any longer, so I reluctantly paid the bill. It wasn't cheap, but it was a joy to wash down the delicious appetizers with delicious sake... It was a bar I definitely want to come back to♬ (Original)
