Aquarium
Nature & Parks
The Malta National Aquarium, opened in 2013, is a modern and expansive facility covering about 20,000 square meters. It features 41 tanks showcasing a variety of marine life including Mediterranean fish found in Maltese waters, reptiles, insects, and amphibians. The aquarium's starfish-shaped building offers stunning views of the Qawra headland and the surrounding blue seas.
Beautiful aquarium in Malta. A well-presented attraction showcasing Mediterranean and tropical marine life. Highlights include the walk-through tunnel with sharks and rays, plus clear educational displays. It’s smaller than big-city aquariums, so the visit is fairly short, but the quality and setting overlooking St. Paul’s Bay make it worthwhile. Great for families and a solid half-day outing. You can save a little money by booking ticket online before entrance.
Ayman R — Google review
It’s fine. Not bad, not brilliant — just fine. The building looks impressive from the outside, like it might contain a small whale or at least a dramatic reenactment of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Inside, however, it’s more of a friendly afternoon stroll past a few tanks that could comfortably fit into the lobby of a mid-sized hotel. The fish are lovely, the staff are friendly, and the kids seem to adore it — which is probably because it’s really designed for them. Adults will enjoy it too… for about 35 minutes, after which you’ve seen everything twice and are wondering if it’s too early for lunch. It’s not bad, it’s not overpriced, and it’s a pleasant way to dodge the sun for an hour. Just don’t expect your socks to be knocked off — you’ll leave with them firmly in place, slightly warmer from the Maltese heat.
Arik — Google review
It was really nice experience. The building is beautiful from outside, they have great number of different species of sea animals. The offer inside is really interesting, because they have diving simulator, nice shop but also exhibition of Mediterran antiques. The whole complex is not so big but you will spend quality hour and a half to enjoy in everything.
Leo V — Google review
Really informative and well presented; lots to see with an emphasis on conservation. Interactive displays let you click through to get detailed information on each fish. The simulated Submarine dive is a bonus! The restaurant is amazing and open for dinner, staying open after the aquarium closes. The structure is magnificently designed and occupies a prominent place on St Paul's Bay promenade.
Andy G — Google review
Enjoyed the visit, some lovely fish, loved the little jelly fish tanks, and the dive into the deep was a funny little extra. The walk through tunnel is a nice feature too. There is a small exhibition upstairs too of artifacts from shipwrecks. Cafe and gift shop on sight too.
Alana L — Google review
A good place to visit if a little pricey, but I suppose fish are expensive to look after. The displays were very good and informative and there were some reptiles too. It took about 90 minutes to get around, it would be a great place to take the kids. Very weird submersible experience not for the faint hearted. I probably wouldn't go back as I've seen it now but worth going once.
Tom L — Google review
The hop on hop off bus made the aquarium very easy to find, as we were taken right to the door. The aquarium is well designed, child friendly, and exhibits are labelled well. There are plenty of local and exotic fish on display. Staff are friendly and helpful. We went on the 'voyage to the bottom of the sea' ride (can't remember what it's really called, but it mimics an undersea explorer's journey), and it wasn't for the faint-hearted! Overall, a great experience.
Helena S — Google review
A smedium sized aquarium that is beautifully laid out, with amazing, passionate staff! Very well suited for a stop by while in the area. The exhibits are very well-made and presented, with detailed information consoles on all the fish and creatures. I also appreciated that I was learning a lot about the local aquatic life and initiatives, with the choices in curation. The walk-through had lots of unique features like glass tunnels, shows, and a tower of terror-esque 20,000 leagues under the sea ride. Great fun for fish buffs, casual sightseers, and kids alike. Outside, it’s located on a stretch with a stunning view of the coast, connecting to the boardwalk. Also, a particular shout out to the staff, who were so passionate and friendly! I had an amazing time discussing marine-adjacent topics with Andrea and Rosie. Their enthusiasm for the work and field is clear, and they are great science communicators!

Bugibba Square is a must-visit attraction in Saint Pauls Bay, Malta. Located in the bustling seaside resort of Bugibba, this lively hub offers a variety of entertainment options for visitors. The square features an open-air plaza surrounded by numerous restaurants, bars, and cafes. It's a vibrant spot that comes alive especially during the summer months. While it may appear quieter in the off-season, the spectacular views of the angry sea make it worth a visit year-round.
Buġibba Square is lively and full of energy! Cafés, bars and seafront views make it perfect for relaxing or watching the sunset. Even while it’s being renovated, its charm shines through—can’t wait to see the new upgrades!
Ivana G — Google review
Great place to relax and enjoy and have a good time. Maybe its very windy during winter. But I guess it will be a great place in summer weather wise. Lots of restaurants with different food options nearby, easy access to public transport. Nice coffee shops. Overall great place to be.
Naveen B — Google review
Busy and bustling this Saturday night in mid July. Lots of shops and restaurants open late, lots of people milling around. A generally very pleasant atmosphere. The square leads off to a few interesting and busy streets.
Shaun D — Google review
Buġibba Square is a fantastic place to relax, dine, and soak in the vibrant atmosphere of Malta’s northern coast. Even while undergoing renovations, you can feel the energy of the area. There’s a real charm in the mix of local life and tourist buzz, especially with the beautiful sea just a short walk away. The square is surrounded by some excellent restaurants and cafés, offering everything from traditional Maltese dishes to international cuisines like Indian and Italian. Whether you're in the mood for a casual bite or a sit-down dinner, you’ll find something satisfying. The nearby promenade is perfect for an evening stroll, with gorgeous sunset views over St. Paul’s Bay.
Mohan M — Google review
Unfortunately when we went in August the square was under going a huge refit and there were diggers and lorries everywhere. The bars around the square were really suffering and it wasn't pleasant to sit there. We also visited in May and the work didn't seem to have changed much in those months. Bugibba relys heavily on tourists and to have their main square going through so much construction over the peak tourist times was badly planned and managed. I hope it is finished quickly before next year's tourist as I can see a lot of people not returning.
Helen H — Google review
Great place to spend the evening. Happy hour on cocktails until 8pm, watch the sunset, lots of places to eat. If you live to people watch then this is your place.
Rick R — Google review
We spent some time here until sunset walking around the area. In the winter without the crowds, you can enjoy the quiet streets or walk along the water. A good place to look for dinner - a must-have rabbit (if you can)
Lukasz T — Google review
Pleasant little modern square just across the road from the promenade. A good place to sit and soak up the sun, meet friends or have a drink or meal. A limited number of establishments though, and some of those are the big chains found all over the world.

Buġibba Perched Beach is a popular man-made sandy spot located on a raised rocky shoreline. It offers umbrella rentals, snorkeling opportunities, and dining options at the nearby Nine Lives beach club. The beach has undergone renovations to enhance its appeal and now provides a picturesque setting for sunbathing and swimming. Additionally, there's an artificial alternative called Buġibba Perched Beach, which also offers a pleasant spot for relaxation.
Nice beach with easy access to get into the water.
Kev O — Google review
Cute little beach - it’s possible to rent sunbeds and umbrellas for 15€ / day 9a-5p). Would definitely recommend to do that since there is barely any shade. Water was pretty clean and clear until 3pm - then it got a bit dirty
Katharina L — Google review
What a shame. Could be lovely but no care is taken to keep it clean. The sea is filthy and the beach it’s littered with fag ends and other unpleasantries. When you’ve got the blue flag Qawra Point Beach 13min walk down the road I don’t know why anyone would choose here. Very overcrowded too, especially on weekends.
Ol. C — Google review
Nice for snorkeling, a lot of fish. The water is kinda clean too. But if you want a real beach experience it’s not the best.
Kamil S — Google review
Great places to eat and plenty of sun beds, places to sunbathe.
Don F — Google review
Great beach! Something for everyone. Small rock shore so if you like sun-baking, coral reef for those who enjoy a snorkel. Cold pristine water in shades of cerulean blue. Note: not a lot of shade so remember to slip, slop, slap to protect yourself against those mean UV rays! Another thing, and guys I HATE to sound like a broken record, but what’s with the rubbish? Please pick up after yourself OR even better don’t bring it in the first place! What ever happened to natures snacks… yeah i’m talking stone fruit, citrus, banana. Get rid of the plastic and replace it with fantastic!
Pia B — Google review
Bugibba Perched Beach is really good but should be avoided when waves are present as the access to the sea is limited. There are a lot of sharp and slippery rocks, but one small area of the beach is sandy and the water can be entered there more easily. Lifeguards are present and there's even a small clinic in their tower.
Nikola P — Google review
Bugibba Perched Beach is another beach replenished with artificial sand. It lies along the promenade, in the midst of tourist accommodations. Before the intervention, the beach was a linear rocky shore with a sharp rock surface. When sand was being considered, the beach was planned to be totally reversible and should the need arise, the rocky coastal stretch will return to its original geological form. 2000 square metres of the rocky coast were transformed into a sandy beach, perched above the sea level. Bridges and ladders were introduced to facilitate access in and out of the water. Full beach management takes place on Bugibba Perched Beach from the 15th of June to the 15th of September. In 2011 the Beach was awarded a Blue Flag while in 2012 it is again being awarded the Blue Flag

Very nice place and beach. It can be visited during sunny day and even in the low season because the nature has so much to offer. Endless sea with all shades of blue and the spacious shore with mediterranean vegetation. Spectacular place for relax or simple walk in the nearby areas. Recommended for a visit.
Katka ( — Google review
Beautiful spot with crystal-clear water and stunning views. Great place to relax, swim, or enjoy a peaceful walk along the coast. Perfect for a sunny day in Malta.
Newaz S — Google review
Beautiful beach close to the city of Bugibba with crystal clear water. Rocky beach with stones, so if you go either bring your own chair/stuff or you can rent a sunbed and umbrella there, each for 6 EUR. The area where you can settle down and put your stuff down is relatively small, so if you want a good spot, it might be worth it to go earlier than the crowds. Definitely recommend this beach! There is wheelchair accessibility to get into the water!
Pedro P — Google review
Beautiful beach with clean water and affordable chairs to rent. The protected area is calm with no waves, while on the open side you can enjoy the waves. Also accessible for people with disabilities – highly recommended!
Adorján B — Google review
Beautiful beach with clean water. The small pool makes it suitable for children. There are even some mysterious Cart Routs.
Klemen Š — Google review
What a sweet little place. I was researching aquarium originally but came across this place & read reviews. We had swim suits packed, so walked there after the national aquarium visit. We had a lovely swim & meal at nearby cafe.
Eva J — Google review
Great place to swim and snorkel. Can get busy however it’s still quiet and relaxed. Safe for children and clear warm water. The pools nearby are excellent for snorkelling too and even safer for children. Steps down into all the areas from the rocks. There is even wheelchair access and a chair hoist to assist those who need it to get in and enjoy the water.

An amazingly beautiful and large area to walk 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️, stop to rest, eat, drink, talk or just enjoy the very relaxing wonderful views everywhere, on benches & picnic tables all over the place. Plenty of shade from the heat too. Many large kids playgrounds as well. Restaurant, restroom, very large turf carpet with fountain ⛲ in the middle and benches all around and much more. Enjoy nature. Plus free entrances of course, we are so lucky 🍀

Holiday hours not updated on Google as it says open but shut, plus there's no closure notice here either. Came with kids and wasn't impressed as looks dingy but close to the beach, that's the only plus side. Photos and video were taken live whilst here and we won't be returning anyway.

We were here last year. Everything worked well. It was something new for us, the child really liked it. Parents were also taken care of, there is a place to sit under cover. The playground itself is not big, but it is enough for a child to play for 1-2 hours. We thought ahead and took water shoes for the child and did not make a mistake.

Nice vibe and attentive staff. What’s more, I can confidently say I had the best meat in Malta here. Nevertheless, due to the pink party the regular menu was not available.

It’s really hard to justify the prices here. The pool setup is great, restaurant is nice, service was excellent but the prices are absurd for what it is. Could be a vibe on the right day 🤷‍♂️ Malta misses the mark on beach clubs but just because you have an oceanfront pool doesn’t mean you should charge 40-100€ a plate

I recently visited Malta Beefbar on the Beach. The atmosphere was fantastic – the live DJ and dancers created such a great vibe, and the service was truly exceptional, very attentive and friendly. However, I was a bit disappointed with the food and drinks. I was served raw chicken, which really shouldn’t happen, especially as the place wasn’t too busy that day. The cocktails were also not to my taste – I even had to ask for a mocktail with vodka added. Maybe it just comes down to personal preference, but the raw chicken was definitely concerning. Other than that, the overall experience and setting were lovely.

Myself and 3 friends visited Beef Bar when staying in Malta. Would definitely recommend. The staff were lovely and very attentive! The location was beautiful and the food was also amazing! Absolutely exceptional experience! This is a MUST visit for anyone who's going to Malta. We had an exquisite lunch, with the Super Kale Salad, Tartare & Terrine as well as the Chateaubriand being the highlight. The team are highly attentive, and the interior is gorgeous. Highly recommend!

Beautiful place to visit in St. Pauls Bay. Was there twice, for dinner. Both times I wasn’t disappointed and Im quite picky 😉 Very elegant interior followed with quality selected music background. Also food is tasty and wont leave you hungry. Personally I would recommend the fish, both tuna and salmon are absolutely delicious! Especially yuzu sauce with the salmon. Beef I don’t have to mention too much, it’s just amazing! Filet mignon perfectly seasoned, melts in your mouth. Again the sauce is fantastic, signature house sauce with the beef must try! Just the dessert menu could be a bit improved/ refreshed. Selection is kinda strange, not a single cake option for example… Smashed burgers lacked flavor, and some acidity such as pickles inside or/ and some vegetables like onion, tomatoes, etc… Like this was only good, but nothing special really. There are some better starters than that. Staff members are always attentive and helpful. Also the service was very fast and fluent. Very pleasant staying. Surely, we will come back. Overall, 5 stars for the Beef bar! Thank you! 😊
Kristina — Google review
Absolutely stunning location and the food was so delicious. We had the bao buns, quesadillas, and ceviche. They all were so tasty. The facility was really nice as well. The only issue was the service. We booked the gazebo but had to forcibly wave down the staff to come take an order. At first, we thought they were ignoring us because we kept trying to wave them down for 20 plus minutes. I eventually stood up and walked over to the desk where they all were standing (the manager was there as well) and asked if we could place an order. That was the only thing they could improve upon. If you’re spending a lot of money, you expect more attentive service. Other than that, we thought the place was great.

Top party venue. Had my son's 6th birthday party here. I am very satisfied, extremely good service, friendly, helpful and reassuring staff. Cannot thank them enough.
Stefania C — Google review
Had our son's birthday party here. Clean and well kept location, very helpful staff and all went very well. The one thing that might be better are the food portions. For the price paid a number of children found there was not enough food in their plates and a couple of sandwiches and 2 pizzas seemed a bit too little given the price tag again. However all in all would highly recommend
Marc V — Google review
My son was invited to a small gathering. He especially enjoyed playing with his friends on the structure in the play area. Though its a cafe the owner was thoughtful enough to opt towards a safer approach and closed for the public. Our children and we (parents) had piece of mind due to covid situation. Highly Recommended
Nicole Z — Google review
Frozen food offered and few drinks, almost no decoration even tho it was charged for decor. Pressure to have kids all seat at the same time to eat and removed food right away when they went to play when dealing with kids a bit more of attention is needed to this little details. Wouldn't recommend for the price =/
Sara C — Google review
Quattro has a great kids play area. The play areas are separated by age so younger kids can enjoy without having rougher older kids around. I was there for a party with finger food and it was good.
Nathan Z — Google review
Nice place, well decored, clean and friendly staff...
Alessandra C — Google review
We went there for a children's party (3 - 5 years) and had a good time. There is a cafe and tables for people to sit, and also a safe and supervised play area at the back. There are two sections, one for younger kids. They have a slides and other things that are great fun for the kids. Children can chose between nuggets, sausages, pizza and pasta, which is served to them on a long bench. Parking is not hard and the place is easy to find.

"management" do not know how to run a turistic attraction. It looks like it's a family that runs the place. Quite lazy and late opening the attraction. Lifeguard is a joke, chatting with friends and not doing his job.

We really like the installation in this water park me and my friend spent a good moment and the staff was top with us. If you´re in Malta this is the place to be in St Paul bay

Qawra Tower, also known as Fra Ben Tower, is a 16th-century watchtower located at Qawra Point. Built by the Knights of Malta in 1637, it served as a lookout point to guard the bay alongside Ghallis Tower. The tower was fortified with a gun battery in 1715. Visitors can climb to the top for panoramic views of the area.
Excellent place, especially Ta Fra Ben ,lovely salt water pool as clean and clear as you like, and the food was great too😎🤩😋
Eddy M — Google review
This tower is still intact and stands in a restaurant/pool in Qawra. This is a small family friendly lido, quieter than its neighbour and is good value for money. Drinks and snacks are reasonably priced. There are two pools. One is deep for swimming, the other suitable for children and non swimmers. There are showers available to wash off the salt water from the pools. Great view of the sea and surrounding rocky beaches. It’s also a good place to watch the sunset.
Sharon C — Google review
Spectacular views especially during sunrise and sunset. Sea almost always clean and crystal clear and inner bay is most often protected from rough seas so more likely to have calm and safe water for swimming and snorkelling :)
Mario Z — Google review
Very small tower, surrounded by fence. Due to the fence only upper part is visible but not as whole building.

You have to know it's there, walked past it three times.

Visitors can participate in workshops and indulge in chocolate and wine pairing sessions at the on-site cafe, which also offers delectable homemade cakes and sweets. Guests have praised the unique wine and chocolate pairing experience, highlighting the exceptional flavors of chocolates available for purchase as souvenirs.
So much fun. First made 12 truffles by filling and decoating pre-made balls. Then the gin and chocolate tasting! Very interesting! Don't often think of pairing gin and chocolate but surprise! It was neat how the taste of the gin cocktails changed with the addition of chocolate! Great host. Lovely retail store. Recommend!

I cannot recomnend enough. Delightful place with amazing chocolate. My wife and I attended a wine snd chocolate pairing, and it was one of the best wine tasting related experiences, of hundteds, weve done. Soooo well done. I honestly would give more than 5 stars.

We attended a chocolate making workshop at the Malta Chocolate Factory to try something different. Overall we felt it was a fun workshop and offers great value for money. It's a good activity to try out with your friends or partner. During the workshop, you're provided the supplies to decorate your own chocolates, which you ultimately get to take home with you. The shop downstairs has a large variety of souveneirs which is a bonus.

Had a great time getting messy and sticky and Learning too! No spoilers there but highly recommend this experience very relaxed atmosphere too I’m very happy with what I created especially as I’ve not an artistic bone in my body 😂 also delicious chocolate and a gorgeous shop with some really intriguing flavours I may pop in to try another time

We signed up for a chocolate monster making class and my kids were disappointed that it was white chocolate (non of them care for white chocolate. We all had fun making our monsters although it was pretty basic. And not lots of options 2/3 colors and 5 different items to glue on. All in all we had fun but if we had known it was white chocolate we wouldn’t have signed up. Also the class was super full a family of 4 turned into a group of 8 and some non paying parents came up with kids The chocolate store class gave no history or cool facts about chocolate and said nothing about the store or factory or history of location The chocolate store is tiny and they were packing chocolate Easter bunnies in the cafe store area.
Amanda D — Google review
Chocolate chocolate everywhere but not a drop for me (I have a severe allergy and they couldn't be sure there wouldn't be cross contamination). Wonderful staff very friendly and knowledgeable. The chocolate looked absolutely delicious but I can't vouch for the taste. You will just have to visit for yourself unless you have an allergy then stay clear. Certainly a feast for the senses though.
Helen G — Google review
the chocolate was not for me but this seems like a cute cafe set up. was a bit disappointed to learn it’s not a chocolate factory in the traditional sense (ie, getting to see the people make the chocolate thru a glass window perhaps, or even being able to swim thru a river of chocolate and such) but still nice. my friend and I had these chocolate pigs and they were super sweet so if this is your taste then i’m sure you’ll enjoy
Antonia P — Google review
Really enjoyed the truffle workshop! You get to fill the cases with different flavours of truffle & then given different melted chocolate & toppings to coat the truffles in. I enjoyed the experience as a Solo traveller, just as much as the young children in family I was seated with! Great fun for everyone. My final result is not a masterpiece, but they do taste good.

English language school
Business school
BELS Malta - BELS English Language Schools is located in the charming seaside town of St. Pauls Bay, Malta. The school offers a perfect blend of history, culture, and natural beauty, making it an ideal destination for families and solo travelers alike. Students praise the professional and kind team at BELS, as well as the effective teaching methods that encourage conversation practice. The school's location away from the city allows for strong relationships with fellow students, while spacious accommodations provide a comfortable living environment.
This was my first time studying in Malta, and BELS helped me to make this experience the best one I could ever had! During my time at BELS, I met people from all over the world, of all ages (mostly over 25, which is my age range, so I felt more comfortable about it), and I had the pleasure of taking classes with Professor Greg, a very friendly, and respectful person. The materials used by the school are of the highest quality, and the extra activities, like afternoon excursions or mini weekend trips, were perfect for connecting with students from other classes and making the most of this beautiful country that is Malta. I can't wait to return to study at BELS again!
Mi A — Google review
If you're looking for an area in the north of the island of Malta where you experience 2 in 1: learning and enjoying your holiday, BELS would be your choice! I will highly recommend it to everyone; there is where you will meet a lovely staff and qualified and hand-picked teachers. Enjoy it!
Taha H — Google review
I studied English at Bels for 6 months and this school has become like family to me. I would like to recommend it to people who want peace and calm, and who want to enjoy meeting friendly people. This school, located far from the city, allows for strong relationships with students. The accommodation is perfect for living with flatmates without any inconvenience. Because it's spacious, there's no problem inviting friends, so I spent many happy times here. If I have a problem, the school has great receptionists. They were always on standby at the school entrance, and I was able to raise my concerns without pressure. It was very helpful to me. The teachers at the school were also able to sense their passion for teaching, and they guided all students well so that they could participate in class. If you have a problem with a class, there are very kindly counselors in the office who always come up with the best solution. Every environment gave me positive energy and gave me hopeful dreams. The friends I met here were some of the best friends of my life. I am very fortunate to have come to Bels and good luck to all my friends who choose to come here in the future. 💫
Seonga H — Google review
I found the Bels language school on the Internet and was immediately impressed. I can recommend it to all age groups. The booking went very quickly and smoothly. Mrs Andrea Said coordinated everything wonderfully. She organised the accommodation, the airport transfer and the allocation to the different language levels perfectly. The school premises are beautiful and equipped with interactive whiteboards. The teachers are extremely nice, very competent and organise the lessons in a varied way. A big compliment goes to Juliana Penn, who managed to impart a lot of knowledge in one week in an entertaining way. The entire team on site was very friendly, took the time to familiarise themselves with individual needs and provided assistance. Even after the course ended, the contact persons were still available. Andrea Said mediated for me in Malta and made the impossible possible. A big thank you for that. The Bels language school in Malta gets top marks for this overall package.

I highly recommend Bels school: extremely flexible and results oriented personnel. Really fabulous staff and fantastic teachers. Accommodation was clean and really spacious while located in one of the best spots.

I had the two very best months of my life in Malta with BELS! The school and its teachers are so helpful and welcoming:) Your English will be leveled up in a short time, believe me! You will directly make friends and call this place your home! The residences are both directly at the seafront and so cool and modern😍 Also don‘t miss the clubs and restaurants in Bugibba (which is only 10 mins away) - try Fat Harry‘s Pub!! 10/10 would recommend:-)

(Translated by Google) It was very well signposted and full of good information, clearly presented soberly and simply. At the same time, there is free entrance and I asked what is on the 2nd floor and then he asked me to go upstairs and explained to me and showed me how they used it as a classroom combined with the salt production area and a museum inside about the history at the back upstairs they taught the children about the environment and climate and used examples from the plant (Original) Det var veldig godt skiltet og god fyldig informasjon førklart nøkternt og enkelt.
