Misquamicut State Beach, located in the village of Misquamicut in the Town of Westerly, offers a half-mile stretch of sandy beachfront and modern facilities including pavilions, concessions, outdoor showers, and shade gazebos. It is a popular destination for both locals and non-residents during the summer months. The beach area spans about half a mile and provides ample space for visitors to enjoy the sun and sand.
Tuesday in July at 10AM had lots of parking. By 2PM, parking was more difficult. Mororhomes under 30ft can park here if there is room or grass. The seagulls here will sneak up and steal food out of your hand. Clean, cool water with nice soft sand.
Steve A — Google review
Went on a week day in May. Very pretty view. Free parking and not many people around. Fun place to have a picnic or fly a kite. Some fun shells and cool rocks to collect. Definitely not fit for swimming this time of year but if you are in the area for sure worth checking out. Beach was overall clean without litter.
Cora K — Google review
A nice beach. Good staff. Good quality. Can be VERY BUSY. so be prepared. The parking situation can be tough and a bit expensive, there is food there. Its pricey but good quality. Also some fun merchandise to buy.
Morgan B — Google review
This beach is a fantastic spot to enjoy time with family, friends, or even by yourself. The sand is clean, and there are lifeguards on duty for added safety. I noticed many Great Black-backed Gulls, so be careful with your food. Parking costs $20 (on Tuesday), and when I arrived around 2:30 PM, I was still able to find a spot. The water was beautiful and perfect for swimming.
Mayara P — Google review
Always a pleasure to come here for a day at the beach. You really can't beat the convenience that they have with the restrooms, showers, food, and beach shop all right there.
Brittany L — Google review
It's hard to believe that it is October. The beaches are empty because the kids are at school. There are still some businesses open. Nice, relaxing and still beautiful waves.
Debbie W — Google review
There are lots of litter, and it's quite irritating that it's only free after 6 instead of 5 now. It's one of those beaches that is pretty rocky, full of seaweed, and always busy. But, it's a beach...all in all, it's going to be beautiful regardles.
Zoe S — Google review
The beach was nice, although there was some seaweed, the water was crystal clear, and there was plenty of parking. If you're not a Rhode Island resident, you pay $30. There's restaurant service, restrooms, and showers.

Bird watching area
Park
Napatree Point Conservation Area, established in 1945, is a coastal nature preserve known for bird nesting and migratory resting. The area offers various summer activities such as beach volleyball, surfcasting, and birdwatching. Nearby attractions include the historic Watch Hill Lighthouse and the Flying Horse Carousel. Visitors can also enjoy the luxurious Ocean House hotel with its elegant Verandah and croquet lessons.
I visited Napatree Conservation Point on a sunny May day and had a wonderful experience. The area offers a scenic hike of about 4–6 miles along the beach, making it perfect for nature lovers. The beach itself is beautiful, clean, and swimmable. There’s a free public restroom available, and a shower facility for $5, which is convenient after a swim or hike. It seems like an ideal picnic spot, especially in the late summer months. Nearby, there are charming craft shops, ice cream parlors, and beachy clothing boutiques that add to the relaxed, coastal vibe. I also spotted some rare birds while exploring, which was a delightful bonus. A great spot for a peaceful day out by the sea! There was two hour free parking until May 31.

Beautiful location, you can park the boats on one side where it's calmer. Walk over the hill to the ocean side. Very clean beach, located near Castle Hill. Great walking beach I.
Carole T — Google review
- about a 4 mile out and back walk along the shoreline with views of Watch Hill Point Lighthouse - Great for birdwatching and dog walking, bags are provided at the entrance - Parking is private during the summer at the trail entrance but you can park in front of the shops year round (about a 1 minute walk from the trail entrance). Parking at the trail is open during the offseason. - No bathrooms - I saw a seal off shore, they migrate north during the fall so that’s the best time of the year to see them in RI
Kelsey T — Google review
Heard that it was a great hidden gem, so wanted to check it out. It was indeed beautiful, but the setup is far from ideal. Parking for the beach is rough, either street parking that has a 2 hour limit and is a 10 minute walk to the beach (with a steep, sandy hill), or a lot that cost $50 and is a 15 minute walk with a steep, sandy hill. Didn’t see bathrooms. So if you’re a resident or staying locally, great beach. If you’re a day-tripper, just drive the extra 10 minutes over to Misquamicut.
Ksenia L — Google review
It's a lovely area and beautiful stretch of beach BUT there is a limit on when dogs are allowed, even leashed, during peak times they will NOT 🚫 allow any dogs from 8am-6pm. Please note this.

Beaches
Watch Hill Beach, also known as Carousel Beach, is a family-friendly destination located in the southwestern Rhode Island area. It offers a seasonal "flying horse" carousel where riders can catch rings as it spins. The beach is centrally located near downtown and is ideal for swimming and sunbathing on its soft sand shore.
Absolutely love this beach ⛱️!! We've been going here for over 30 yrs and I still love it just as much. I enjoy the 2 hrs of free parking ;) on the street. It could cost up to 50-60$ dollars to park for the day. Beautiful harbor . Just a dream
Lacie W — Google review
Peaceful beach and very clean and quiet. Great place to bring the kids. Be prepared to pay to park and to enter the beach. Well worth it!
Michael M — Google review
One of the best beaches! Bay side for toddlers and ocean side for bigger waves. Parking in Watch Hill is a challenge so be prepared to pay or walk. Or find a friend with a boat!
Nicole E — Google review
I have been visiting Watch Hill Beach for seven years, and when my family and I first discovered it, we felt we had found a true treasure. Before I proceed with my review, I want to address some negative comments I’ve encountered regarding the locals. In my experience over the years, I have never encountered any rude locals; they have always been warm and welcoming. Like any destination, if you behave loudly and disruptively, you may not be welcomed. Now, regarding my review: We have always enjoyed our time there because of the friendly locals, delicious food and coffee, and the ability to relax while listening to the waves and watching families and friends enjoy themselves. I’ve always been very hesitant to go to the beach on July 4th because of how busy it can get. My best friend and I decided to go on July 4th 2025 and it did not disappoint us at all!!! We had such a great time, we found a great spot to sit back, relax, and enjoy. There is no beach like Watch Hill. I’ve traveled to many of them, but none compare to this one. Also, shout out to the parking attendants who do a phenomenal job ensuring all the cars are parked correctly and the ease of leaving the parking lot. Thank you!!

I’m in love with this awesome little town. Beaches are beautiful, the lighthouse museum is pretty cool.

Lighthouses
Watch Hill Lighthouse, located in the picturesque seaside community of Watch Hill in Westerly, Rhode Island, has been a prominent feature of the landscape since its construction in 1807 under President Thomas Jefferson's orders. This historic lighthouse is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places and offers breathtaking panoramic views of Westerly and the ocean. Visitors can experience the thrill of spotting ships from afar as they approach the shores.
We were here on a windy day and a sudden discovery. The road to the lighthouse shows up as a private road so we parked on the main road and walked down to the light house. However we did see cars drive in and out the road . Lots of beautiful and big mansions when you walk by. It was so beautiful, and was windy enough which made clicking pictures difficult . The high tide and the wind made the waves look so beautiful. Couldn’t stay long as to enjoy them. If you go down the road you will see a row of shops and beaches to sit at also. But it was closed as it was still cold. Definitely worth visiting.
Suparna B — Google review
The place is beautiful and has nicely maintained grounds. It is a good place to watch the sunset. The downside is that there is no place to park. The road to the lighthouse is narrow, so the only option is to walk around a mile.
Arif S — Google review
Beautiful. A bit of a walk unless you are elderly you can drive in. Grounds are well kept. Views are incredible from every point on the property. Just lovely. NO bathrooms anywhere near by. You have to go to center of town to find one.
Cas — Google review
Nicely groomed grounds, plenty of green grass to walk the kids and dogs; beautiful ocean views; clear views of Napatree, Block Island, Stonington, and Taylor Swift's mansion. Can even see Long Island on a clear day. Between Memorial Day thru Labor Day, must be 65+y.o. to drive to the lighthouse; can always do free street parking at the Watch Hill business area down the block and walk to the lighthouse.
Jerry C — Google review
Came here on a weekday after Labor Day. It’s a 10-minute walk from Bay Street to the lighthouse. Limited parking and a security guard at the entrance since it’s a residential area. However, handicap permits allow easier access by car.
Brian M — Google review
The lighthouse is situated between the Atlantic ocean and the Block Island sound. You get picturesque views and smashing waves. The lighthouse is accessible through a street which is easily walkable. Handicap and seniors are allowed to take the car up to the lighthouse. There was no lighthouse tour.
Divya G — Google review
Nice lighthouse. Parking can be quite cumbersome and you have to walk in to it from Main Street unless you are 65 or older then you can drive down. Nice view of Taylor Swift’s house.
Tanya W — Google review
Beautiful lighthouse and worth the effort to see Note the entrance gate does not have a sign to it and you have to park elsewhere and walk up to unless you are over 62 then the guard will let you drive down the narrow bush line road to a limited parking area.

Historic Sites
The Flying Horse Carousel at Watch Hill Beach is a historic attraction, dating back to 1883 and considered one of the oldest continuously operating carousels in the United States. This classic carousel features hand-carved wooden steeds suspended from a center frame, allowing them to "fly" as the ride turns. While only children under 12 can enjoy the carousel, visitors of all ages can appreciate its artisanship and unique design.
A family tradition, always followed by a hot dog from The Annex. Don't forget to peek at T-Swift's place near Watch Hill (which is the house/story told about in her song "The Last Great American Dynasty").
Emily K — Google review
$4 per ride for the “outer” horses and $1 per ride for the interior horses. The outer horses allow you to reach out and snag a metal ring from the metal ramp. If you get the golden ring you earn a free ride. You have to reach quite far and it’s probably best for ages 6+, in my experience. We had a 5 yo and a 7 yo and the 5 yo missed the majority of the rings but did get 2-3.
Amy B — Google review
Parking is a nightmare! Carousel is fun, and prices are very good, but was disappointing that the carousel was playing modern pop music, instead of traditional carousel calliope music.
Bethany S — Google review
$1 horse rides ! $4 on the outside so you can get the “golden ring” for a free ride. Kids enjoyed it. Parking might be tough… but went on the way out after the beach.
Jay P — Google review
Ahhhhh nostalgia!! Went on this as a small child, took my kids, & can't wait to take my granddaughter and future grandkids some day.🥰 No long wait the day we went. There can be a wait depending on how busy.
Nancy S — Google review
I put 4 years of my time into lifeguarding for the Merry-Go-Round beach here, and the owner still tried to charge me the standard rate to come onto the beach when I came back the next summer as a visitor. LOL. I convinced him (Jim & Deedee Buffum are the owners btw) to let me on for free. Personal reasons aside: coming here is not worth the price unless you taking your (very) young kids for a beach day or you’re an elderly person. East Beach is just up the hill for FREE FYI! If you have capable walking legs you can save upwards of $50 you might’ve spent here for entry, umbrellas, chairs….
Brendan M — Google review
Worth the trip, simply for the historical aspect. Watch Hill is nice little spot for dining and shopping.

Dune's Park Beach is a hidden gem that offers a serene escape for beachgoers. Nestled near the iconic Watch Hill area, visitors can enjoy stunning views and even catch glimpses of celebrity homes nearby. The beach boasts a peaceful atmosphere, making it perfect for families looking to soak up the sun or fish from the jetty. With its beautiful rocky shoreline and warm waters, Dune's Park Beach invites you to unwind while enjoying nature’s beauty.
Awesome, quiet spot. Fishing from the jetty. Families can enjoy the sun and waves. Heard there were seals which do attract sharks. Just be mindful.

Soft sand, free, sometimes there's a lot of seaweed, but there's never too many people. However, there is limited parking, and it's a bit of a walk. During beach hours (before 6) you can only sit in a certain area too so sometimes you have to be close-ish to people.
Zoe S — Google review
It was amazing! I love how if the parking lot is full they don't allow anymore people in. It's never overly crowded like the beach down the street.

East Beach, located in the upscale village of Watch Hill, is a 2-mile-long rustic shoreline offering a less-crowded alternative to nearby Misquamicut State Beach. Situated in Westerly, it provides beautiful views and features the iconic Watch Hill lighthouse at its farthest end. This beach is known for its limited access, with only 30 people allowed entry at a time.
Beautiful stretch of clean sandy beach and beautiful watch Hill. The ocean can serve up some pretty decent swells so be mindful when you swim the path down to the beach is gorgeous and it’s quiet and a beautiful spot to spend a day relaxing by the ocean.

The water is absolutely beautiful 😍. There is only sand and water at this beach⛱️. No restrooms, no food, no drinks. Just remember to bring all you need.
Eileen B — Google review
Awesome stretch of beach close by downtown Watch Hill. Clean and well maintained. Surrounded by beautiful homes. Water is clean and minimal seaweed. Doesn't seem to get as crowded as squam nearby. Restrooms nearby.

Watch Hill, East Beach, and Misquamicut Beach are some of the nicest beaches you will find anywhere. With clean water, beautiful views of Block Island sound and miles and miles of lovely sand. You just can't beat the experience. In the off-season you can obtain a permit that allows you to drive on the beach, which is wonderful for surf casting.
Thomas B — Google review
I've been coming to East Beach since I was a baby. My father overheard someone talking about driving on the sand trails back in the 90s, found out you could drive on the beach ⛱️ all the way to the breechway. Spent so many summers and off season adventures here. Some of the best sunsets and the quietest beach (sand trail access) in rhode island. This place will forever hold a special place in my heart. ❤️

This is a stunning beach. Shame about the lack of parking and unfriendly signs that they'll fine you $150 for even dropping off people on the access road. Still the seclusion means very few people enjoying a beautiful pristine spot.

Ocean House Beach, renowned as the finest stretch of coastline on the East Coast, offers a splendid and picturesque setting. It is advisable to steer clear of parking at The Watch Hill Inn parking lot due to its subpar service, which includes employees who engage in unprofessional behavior such as yelling and cursing. This establishment should be avoided altogether as its owner has been known to display dishonesty. On a positive note, the staff at Ocean House Beach are exceptionally polite and considerate.
Fabulous beach - best on the East Coast. However, avoid parking at The Watch Hill Inn parking lot. Horrible service, employees yelling and I could hear some of the employees cursing. Avoid at all costs! The owner is also very dishonest.

The Andrea Seaside Restaurant and Beach Bar is a beloved waterfront hangout known for its relaxed atmosphere, simple seafood dishes, and cocktails. Originally the Andrea Hotel, this iconic landmark suffered damage from Superstorm Sandy in 2012. It offers a family-friendly dining experience with live music and delicious food right on the beach. The restaurant boasts a patio with ocean views, making it an ideal spot for enjoying dinner, drinks, or special occasions.
This afternoon we found our travels took us to Westerly, RI. We had spent the previous day driving to East Providence to begin our search of the Trolls in Rhode Island, we saw 2 yesterday and then this morning we saw 2 more in Charleston at Ninigret Park. Lunch time in Westerly at Andrea Restaurant. We were welcomed with a big smile and hello. seated under canopy with a beautiful view of the beach and ocean. staff was very attentive and super friendly. My wife ordered Fish and chips, I opted for the baked scallops. while enjoying a drink we were taking in the great views over the water and beach. Food arrive and we both were taken back by the size of the portions, the fish and chips took all of the platter sized plate they were served on. My scallops were done to perfection (at least for me), not dried out and coated with a tasty breaded mix. the scallops were plentiful along with the seasoned green beans and mashed potatoes. EXCELLENT. My wife said just about the same for her dish, the fish breaded lightly and fish was juicy and very tasty. I noticed as the place began to fill, many patrons were greeted with hugs and big hellos, I thinking many of those are locals and repeat customers. nice vibe and good food along with super friendly staff makes Andrea's a must stop. two thumbs up.
James F — Google review
Excellent sunny day spot. The view and vibe are awesome. The server was as pleasant as can be, and it was above 90 degrees. The food is well made and fresh. The only reason for four stars is because it takes truly exceptional flavors and preparation. The food was good but not 5 star good. Everyone but the most picky eater will be very happy but no one will be blown away. We went on a very sunny day and sat on the open deck with tarp covering. Great view, comfy seats, not pushed together.
Marcus H — Google review
It’s THEE spot to go to after a hot day at the beach. I couldn’t believe how huge the fish in the Fish & Chips was… it was GINORMOUS, and exceptionally delicious, and for $23?! The location also overlooks the water, so you have a nice cool breeze blowing as you eat. Lastly, the staff were friendly and fast with their service. I will definitely be back!
Candice J — Google review
This is my second time to Andrea‘s and it’s a great location right by the ocean. You can grab a quick cocktail or refreshing drink when you’re sitting on the beach. Or you can have a great dinner with family or date night with amazing cocktails, cocktails, appetizers, like the thingbang shrimp and my most favorite is their lobster roll that is overflowing with lobster and hot butter.
Christine G — Google review
Hidden gem on the beach in westerly! Had cocktails and food before walking up the beach to Paddy’s for live music. Service and food here is very good. The ocean views and beachside experience is one of the best in RI. So nice walking on beach steps away from the bar. Nice people and a great vibe! Recommend eating here and having cocktails then walking up the beach at night to Paddy’s for live music on the beach. It’s about a 1/2 mile or so and so relaxing, especially at night with the waves rolling in.
Steve T — Google review
I had a wonderful dinner here with some of my best friends last week. We made a reservation in advance and were sat outside right by the beach and it was the perfect outdoor dining scene. Our waitress was super nice and made great recommendations. We kicked off with a pitcher of drinks, some stuffies, and fried clams. I decided to get a whole lobster because it’s been a while and I can confirm it was DELISH. We split dessert and I highly recommend getting the s’mores, it’s such a fun experience. Will be back soon for more seafood and relaxing vibes.

Growing up on the south shore of eastern Long Island me and my wife do appreciate a nice beach bar and this one checks all the boxes , it’s in a prime location with a amazing view and plenty of beach access . It also has a nice selection of different types of seating with outdoor and semi indoor tenting . Service was fantastic and attentive, the food was above board for a beach bar. I had the Andrea house salad topped with shredded jerk chicken and my wife had a balsamic pesto chicken salad . Both were awesome , plenty of alcohol and NA drinks . This place at worth the stop if your in Westerly and looking for a beach side hang out that isn’t too wild and leans towards the family side .

The steak had way too much garlic. The waitress argued with the hostess not to put anyone in her section. Even though we could hear her and only say where we were told and never requested to be anywhere in particular.

After driving 45 minutes with 5 kids to go to the arcade and have lunch, we arrived to the Windjammer parking lot at 11am and were told the arcade will open at noon. It was a busy holiday and the hours are not up to date or listed anywhere online. We assumed they would be open on a popular holiday! We killed time on the beach and walked around. Well guess what? The arcade NEVER opened and we had some very sad and disappointed kids. Get it together! As a business owner myself, it takes about 2 minutes to update your business/holiday hours on Google. They could have made a killing today as their were other disappointed families. The parking attendant even told us they were open today. Sad to see a place we loved to frequent as kids go downhill so much. It would be awesome to share with a new generation.

Great area to hangout for the day! Arcade is very fun and still hands out tickets, makes it feel more retro instead of using a card. Wonderful spot with lots of entertaining activities. Right across from the drive-in as well, which brings the activities into the night!

Everything is closed except the arcade. The carousel, go karts, golf, bumper cars etc.... all gone. This area was a family tradition it's sad it's all gone but even more sad that it's still listed as open. The wedsite said opening June 2025. We have some very sad kids on this vacation. :(

What a great beach! Huge waves, great sand, and a clean beach. Convenient parking locations right near beach. Great food and snack choices up and down the strip. My family had a wonderful time and can't wait to visit Rhode Island again.

Fun place for the kids but daaaamn they need more fans or A/c in the arcade. We couldn't handle more then a couple games til we're almost had heat stroke. Even this kids didn't want to play it was so hot. Walked in and started dripping sweat instantly. Carousel is definitely torn apart and out of service.

Clean bathroom, great music always playing and friendly people working at the snack shack. The beach is always clean. Trash is never overflowing. My kids always have a great time at all the rides and swimming at the beach.

Manfredi Farms is a delightful farm that offers complimentary parking and doesn't charge an entrance fee. It boasts a charming petting zoo area with an abundance of farm animals such as goats, chickens, ducks, and more. Inside, visitors can purchase carrots and peanuts to feed the animals while also enjoying delicious large apples and various other fruits and vegetables. The farm also produces and sells homemade spaghetti sauce.
Me and my husband stopped here to do the pick your sunflower. That day they had changed it to $25 all you can pick but even if you weren't picking you had to pay to go into the field, which my husband was not going to pick so I went in alone. You can rent their clippers for $5 and when you return you get the $5 back so I did that. I was the only one in the field on a early Saturday morning and I loved it! There were so many different varieties of sunflowers, definitely worth the $25. The landscaping when you first walk in is so pretty, flowers everywhere. The animal section was fun and cute as well. The inside of the store was so adorable with all the fall décor! We will definitely be back one day when were in Rhode Island!

I'll definitely be returning! Everything is so beautiful! Felt like I was in a fairy tale! Glimpse in Farm life! My kids loved all the animals! All the animals are extremely greetable😍 they're all so CUTE! The market is so nice too! I bought candies and jars of Apricot, peach and pumpkin butter. Can't wait to try them all! My family also loved the play ground definitely worth the entrance fee! I was told in the fall they may have a train. We'll be Definitely visiting in the Fall!!

Just a beautiful farm. We came for some mums and cornstalks, but the store also has fresh produce and other products like preserves and sauces. Kids will enjoy the farm area where they can feed the animals.

Nice farm. Free parking and no entrance fee. Nice little petting zoo area with a abundance of farm animals like goats, chickens ducks and more. They sell carrots and peanuts inside to feed to the animals. They have delicious huge apples and other fruits and veggies. They make and sell spaghetti sauce. There's a nice sand mountain for kids to play on. Has some cool tractor truck toys to play in the sand and a giant tractor tire at the top. Beautiful sunflower field. Pumpken patch. And more. Nice place to take the kids and go on a family outing.

Didn’t read the reviews but definitely DO NOT bring your kids here. Walk in and the lady had a hard time figuring out prices..? Said my 3year would actually be $12 and I would be $19 for the sunflower area.. Ended up being $41 for a small jar, scissors and two small bags feed. no biggy..BUT then I realize there isn’t any sunflowers as I enter the farm entrance but one tiny single 80-100ft row to my left. I said to lady by gate is this everything??? Then this HOG barks at me “ FARM is CLOSED SO YES and you not allowed back past the gate “ So I calmly reply that I just paid $41 to cut sunflowers, have a jar in my hand , scissors in my other hand and we both wearing these bright wristbands??? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 The negative comments on here are on the MONEY as far as terrible customer service and poorly managed… Proceed with caution and don’t pet the workers
Tristan T — Google review
Road side farm stand and so much more. They sell fruits and veggies as most side stand do but they also have lots at home made salsa sauces and kitchen must haves. There is an artist flare here with art to admire and purchase. Candy and ice cream for the kids and adults. Petting and feeding animals is something everyone enjoys. They sell some feed for a small price so you can get up close and personal for sure with these cute little creatures. This so not your average road side stand. You are going to find some things here you would not find else where. HUGE onions they grow here that are so tasty you will enjoy cooked it raw. The farmer takes real pride in the fact that they have perfected the growing technique over the years. Genuinely friendly kind people work here. Help support your local farmer.

Beautifully decorated, super-friendly staff. Has a petting area with donkeys, goats, a good variety of chickens (you can purchase feed and have fun feeding the animals). Very fresh produce and great pies too. Update 9/16/22: Stopped by and picked up some corn, it was fantastic, fresh and wonderfully sweet, well worth the price!

Wilcox Park is a 50-acre landscaped park in Westerly, named after local inventor Stephen Wilcox, Jr. It surrounds an 1894 library and features a pond, meadow area, fountain, and memorials. Designed by a protege of Frederick Law Olmstead, the park offers picturesque Victorian scenery and ample space for picnics and peaceful strolls.
We love this park and is our go to spot for photography mini sessions. My company Postma Photography has done many photo shoots here and love the beauty of the different types of exotic trees. I must also point out how clean this park is kept. Top notch to the city for the upkeep.

Such a well preserved park. For the size of the town it's very impressive. There's a large array of tree species and gardens. Lots of history and lovely fountains.
Shadi T — Google review
What a beautiful park in RI. We decided to enjoy our wraps from Sandy's here on a bench and lookout over the beautiful park. It's super dog friendly and the grass is really green. I was impressed by the variety of trees and that the garden was still flowering in November.
Stacy L — Google review
A stroll through an "ancient" park is an experience that is becoming difficult to find. This nook of older trees has made a morning walk delightful. The gentleman playing a wooden flute near the man-made pond had a calming note to the hectic week of the past. The walk was long enough and short enough to be just right. The name tags on the trees also made choosing the plant for future endeavors. The pond at the liberty has been marked by someone who may have no or just some respect for others' enjoyments, the down side is that taking a marker to something that is not owned by you is disrespectful.

Savoy Bookshop and Cafe in Westerly, RI is a beloved downtown destination that combines the charm of a bookstore with the comfort of an in-house cafe. The interior is adorned with cozy seating areas, making it an ideal spot to escape on a rainy day. The store features a cute little cafe serving coffee, tea, and baked pastries, as well as a selection of wine and beer.
Really fun bookstore, well curated to take advantage of a relatively small space. Friendly, helpful staff who were all reading actual books when otherwise unoccupied. A small thing, but knowing they love the product is very nice.
Reid B — Google review
Savoy book store is one of my favorite quiet spots. They serve Dave's coffee which is amazing along with a selection of baked in house pastries. There are plenty of nooks and seating places to curl up in and sample literature. All while enjoying your favorite beverage. They have recently added a selection of wine and beer. Savoy is a local treasure!
Aaron A — Google review
Great bookstore with an old school feel. Good selection of books. Dark atmosphere feel to the building. Cafe is a treat.
Brian F — Google review
My favorite bookstore of all time. It also has a cute little cafe where you can sit and read a book, if you'd like. They have a teen and i believe little kids area downstairs which is really nice. They have doors at the bottom of some of the bookshelves, and when you open them they have little rooms set up in there. I believe they're called "fairy doors" and kids can write notes to the fairies. Which is cute. Also. You will have to park on the street to get to it. I will forever come here and get my books and my tea.
Amy B — Google review
Find the hidden fairy doors while your here. Fairies are real! The aroma of savoy is that of old time book stores. It has such a relaxed vibe and two floors of books!

I get coffee (they make Dave's, a good local brew) and sit around in my laptop here and it's constantly abuzz with book buyers -- a pretty great self selecting audience... Also this is the only place I know of on the continent where I'd choose to eat a scone.

In Westerly, when the weather isn't cooperating, you can head to Alley Katz Bowling for a fun indoor activity. Even if you're not a skilled bowler, it's an enjoyable experience with options for food and drinks available at the lanes.
Had my daughter's 5th birthday party here, and it was fantastic. Our party hostess was fantastic and the kids had a blast. The price per kid was reasonable. I highly recommend having a birthday party at Alley Katz.

Alley Katz is an awesome place to have a birthday party for your kids! You cannot beat the price and no cleanup! It’s 16.95 per kid and that includes bowling shoes, 2 hours of bowling, and their choice of a kids meal ( pizza, hot dog, chicken tenders etc) and a pass for each kid for another free game. Megan( hope I got it right) takes care of everything! She sets up your kids for bowling, helps them decide what they want to eat, and the table is already set for a birthday celebration .. you basically don’t have to do anything except bring a cake! Thanks so much for making Gabriel’s 5th birthday party so fun!!

This charming spot features a bathhouse, gift shop, playground, and shaded gazebos—perfect for taking a break from the sun. The beach offers clean sand and water, making it an ideal place to enjoy activities like boogie boarding or building sandcastles.
My family loved this place, a quiet, beautiful and very peaceful place for us and the kids, I can't wait to go back! The parking lot is huge and the cost is 30.00 to park, they have a kiosk for food!

Love this place especially to being your boogie boards and have fun. Note to self if you come from out of state it's $30 to park close to the beach. Plenty of parking and work it if you can park near bath house. There's restaurants in area some let you park cheaper but very horrible walk if your carrying stuff. This beach is always packed especially the weekends .

My first time and it will not be my last. This beach is so nice. The water and waves on low tide are great.

This is one of the finest beaches I've ever been to. Clean sand, clean water, clean bathrooms. I was craving something to eat in the nearby concession stand had a killer double cheeseburger that was served quick. We picked up a season pass and have made the 2-hour drive several times. Totally worth it. Huge beach.

Better now than it was 30 years ago, albeit more families, small children, no SUPER-LOUD boom boxes every 15 feet, people playing Frisbee, catch w/baseballs, making sand castles and other 'beach' games...the beach was so clean! Bars and food available; No garbage anywhere... everyone was having a good time and the weather was spectacular!

They open at 9, the blue rug, easy to walk on wasn't all rolled, only 2 pieces, the ladies room never opened until 9:40, had to use handicap porta potty, that had no locking mechanism!!! And cigarette butts all over the parking lot stairs. Meanwhile 3 "lifeguards " road an ATV around the busy crowded beach, not worth the expensive parking, sorry. The beach day was beautiful.

Despite being very busy, the beach pavilion at Westerly Town Beach offered a pleasant experience on a hot summer day. The beach had beautiful, fine sand and gentle waves, making it enjoyable to stroll along the shoreline. There was also a reasonably priced concession stand offering snacks, ice cream, beverages, and sandwiches. However, parking could be an issue depending on arrival time as it was limited to Westerly residents with passes.
Blues on the Dunes at Westerly Town Beach was the perfect beachside spot for a date. Great snacks, ocean breeze, and a laid-back vibe made it feel like a mini vacation. Watching the sunset with my girlfriend, toes in the sand and music playing, was pure magic. Definitely a go-to for a romantic evening by the water.

I went in October 2022. It was not isolated and not too busy at all. Super clean beach with lots of room to have your privacy. Beautiful views with nice loud waves that provides a great environment to practice your mindfulness 😉. Shell hunters, you would be disappointed here but there are pretty rocks you can find. I just wish the bathrooms would be open. The port-o-johns we're clean though. Beautiful sunset!

Very very busy, but made an otherwise hot summer day a pleasant experience! Beautiful, soft sand, nice waves and lots of fun just to walk the shoreline. Has a reasonably priced place to supplement the visit with snacks, ice cream, beverages and sandwiches. Parking can be an issue depending upon your arrival time. Open to Westerly residents only and requires a pass to park. The shoreline had a lot of seaweed, but absolutely no human trash, a very welcoming and clean environment!

Additionally, visitors can enjoy a skateboard park, playgrounds designed for both small and older children, and covered picnic tables.
It really hasn't been updated since 93 except for the playground. People use the soccer fields. I don't really like crowded parks, so this is a hidden gem. It's quiet. It needs some love, but it's awesome, too. However, the portable bathroom is a nightmare. They need to empty it. It's beyond a horror show. This park also has one of those cool little libraries. Westerly Library and Wilcox Park have a rich history dating back to 1892 when it was established to honor Civil War soldiers. The library, now open for 60 hours a week, houses an extensive collection of over 199,000 items including books, CDs, and DVDs. The stunning 19th-century architecture of the building is complemented by the Hoxie Gallery which showcases local artists monthly.
Fantastic space for writing, reading, and focusing on work! The staff is great and the building is beautiful."! Great Staff! Beautiful building.

We had our event in the Terrace Room at the Westerly Library and it was the perfect day! It fit us perfectly, allowing plenty of room for kids and adults to mingle and sit and have a great brunch. The tables and chairs are included in the rental fee. There is also a kitchen space to help set up. There is a cleaning fee if you serve food. The Library Events Coordinator was great at communication leading up to and on the day of our event. The day of the event, the tables and chairs were all set up for us all we had to do was place table clothes and flowers and the food. (that I provided- they do not provide linens). For your guests - the entrance and access to the terrace room is handicapped accessible. There is street parking or a varied of parking lots in downtown Westerly. There is also a parking garage across the street that is free. I have had two separate events at the Library - my first being my Bridal Shower in 2017 and then my one year olds' first birthday party in 2025 and both times I found the room and set up bright, fun, well cleaned and maintained. I am already looking forward to the next function to host here!

Beautiful is an understatement the inside and outside of this property are invigorating. The flower gardens the trees the library also sells a library grounds map. The map tells you about the trees and flowers in the property the map cost is 2 dollars. I like visiting libraries and this library even came with an art gallery. A notable and fascinating gem in the heart of downtown Westerly completed in 1894. Inside you'll find wonderful resources and a variety of history regarding the origins of both industry and commerce within Westerly. On the northern perimeter of the library lies the beautifully designed, manicured and maintained exterior grounds of Wilcox Park providing respite and splendor, with highlights including a dramatic fountain and mature garden beds, all complimenting the property.

An absolute “must-visit” when you’re in the area. The park is beautiful and serene. The library is very clean and a perfect spot for families with kids. They have a lower level dedicated just for teens and children. Great place with well tended grounds.

I lived in Westerly as a little girl about 30 years ago for only a year and used to come here all the time. I've never been back after we moved far away but to this day, I still remember this gorgeous library. So lovely to see it looking the same on the outside.

Their local history room is an amazing resource. Nina Wright, the librarian, is very helpful in a way not all reference librarians are. She’s a treasure!

Really beautiful public library. However, I wish there was a quiet floor to work.

Dunes Park Beach is a delightful destination that offers everything you need for a perfect beach day. With clean facilities, including bathrooms and outdoor showers, it’s easy to refresh after enjoying the sun and surf. The water temperature hovers around 70 degrees, making it inviting for swimming without the hassle of seaweed or jellyfish—especially at high tide! The gradual slope into the water ensures a safe entry for all ages, while lifeguards keep an eye on swimmers.
5 stars all the way. Its Kept clean and there is food on site at a reasonable cost with decent portion Suze for the price and fast service with a smile. Lot is watched over by staff and lifeguards on duty and secured parking. Handicap accessible as well.

Dogs welcome all day til May 1. Before 745 am and after 6 pm for the busy season. Great spot to walk your dog on the beach!

We love going her because they have bathroom and showers. The day was perfect. We arrived at high tide water was 70 degrees no sea grass , seaweed or jelly fish. The sea stuff started to come in when the tide was almost all the way out . Waveves were awesome.. The other thing I noticed it was so much gradual getting into the water no more drastic drop off and no rocks.
