It was named after him in 1899 to honor his role in the Cuban War of Independence.
Few pictures I took while I was at the square. Beautiful place at night. What are the most interesting places was a bathroom a used one of the corners in the square. Absolutely the most unusual tile work I've ever seen in my entire life. Beautiful city beautiful people and beautiful masonry work in the whole square.

My favorite bar in all of Camaguey. Dalia, one of the bartenders speaks great English and has a gray story to tell. The drink menu really is just rum and coke, mojitos (if the mint man has come), and the two ever present Cuban beers, Bucenero and Crystal. On the most popular square of Cuba grab a beer from the bar and go stand out on the corner and enjoy the view.

When exploring the culinary scene in Camaguey, Cuba, one restaurant that stands out is La Campana de Toledo. This charming eatery offers a delightful blend of local flavors and traditional dishes, making it a must-visit for food enthusiasts. While dining here, you can expect an experience that embodies the essence of Cuban hospitality—though be prepared for a leisurely pace typical of the region's service. The ambiance is inviting and comfortable, perfect for enjoying a meal with friends or family.
Typical for Cuba, service is at glacial speed, but food is good and prices are ok. It's not faster anywhere else, so this is a good choice.

Nice location in front of the plaza that makes you feel good. The food was okay the server was slow but it keeps happening in all the restaurants they’re going to with another speed. But Ari d is the best restaurants so if you’re going to spend more than a 5 days for sure you will stop by there.

If u are willing to wait more than 1.5h at least, even if the restaurant is almost empty, u are in the right place, I'm not sure how long will be the wait if it's at the fullest of their occupancies. The image displays the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de La Merced (Church of Our Lady of Mercy) in Camagüey, Cuba. Historical Significance: This massive 18th-century brick church is considered the most distinguished in Camagüey and was once the largest in Cuba. Architecture and Features: The church showcases an eclectic architectural mix, including surprising Art Nouveau murals added in the 20th century, a painted wood neo-Gothic altar, and the Santo Sepulcro, an elaborate 1762 casket made from 25,000 silver coins. Location: It is located on the Plaza de los Trabajadores in Camagüey. Crypt: Behind the main altar, down narrow stairs, lies a mysterious crypt, which is the remains of an extensive underground cemetery.

(Translated by Google) In this church they do not respect their neighbors or help those who come asking for help when they are about to be mistreated by a dictatorship. The one who received the man says that the church respects itself and does not get involved in politics; So why didn't they help a man about to be mistreated by a bad government? The church belongs to everyone and welcomes the beggar who has no clothes or shoes, it welcomes the poor, the rich, whoever. Apparently this is not the case. God sees everything and sees that this man only asked with the only soul he has, which is his faith, he asked for help from the greatest thing he believes in and was denied. Almighty God will take care of those who turned their backs on the Lord of the Cross, because he was not wearing a shirt, Christ was not only wearing a sheet covering his parts and God received him like this and a Christ without clothes is shown in the Churches. So I don't understand anything.??

(Translated by Google) My mother forced me to go to church when it wasn't well-regarded. I was 7 years old and went alone from Monte Carlos. I was a shy and abused child, very afraid even to defend myself. One day during catechism, Father Ramón, whom I fondly remember from the land of my grandparents (Spain), asked me, "What's wrong with you, son?" I replied that I was afraid, and he gave a sermon about fear. That child lost his fear forever; he even instilled fear in others by defending himself. Today I'm not a child, but the fear has returned. My mother is dying, and I can't do anything, but in a moment of lucidity, she remembers me and tells me, "God bless you, my son." Now the fear isn't for me, and I can't defend myself from anyone. I realized that this was really what Father Ramón wanted to tell me: to trust in God unconditionally. You may ask, "What does that have to do with a Google review?" Today I saw photos of children in the same church, children with dreams, so I thought, surely there's someone like me, afraid. Many years and much abuse have passed, and yet those children, full of faith, are still at that same altar with a different father, but with the same God. His will be done.
