The Grand Synagogue of Edirne was constructed by a French architect in 1909 and it was meant to replace all 13 synagogues which were burnt in The Big Fire of 1905. The original building was almost ruined over the last century but it was restored and opened for the public in 2014. Now this beautiful building can be freely visited and enjoyed by tourists.

Amazing place, rebuilt and new. it is worth seeing. I was interesting for me, became I have never been before in a synagogue. Behind the building is the art gallery and museum ( connected to the synagogue).

This synagogue is free it's like museum mostly but once a week people come and worship in the place.

This beautiful place is one that is not often mentioned in trips to Edrine, yet is a sight worth the 5 minutes walk from the end of the main street. The restoration is great, I only find it weirdly difficult to get there, and kind of confusing. Approach from north-west to find the entrance.

What I found fascinating was how they treated both physical and mental illnesses using a mix of music therapy, water sounds, and herbal remedies. The architecture is beautiful, with serene courtyards and domed rooms that create a peaceful atmosphere. Visiting the museum gave me a new appreciation for how holistic and humane healthcare could be centuries ago.

In my opinion one of the best places to learn about old lifestyle of Turks is this in Edirne and the best place in Edirne after Selimiye Mosque.The place which brings you to more than 500 years back to Ottoman Empire times exactly to the Bayazıt 2nd time. Everything about type of life they had back in times. Kitchen complex the way of preparing foods, baking breads and their place of eating, How they washed their dirty staff, also a very large complex about medicine 💊 and health, how to make new types of drugs for ill people 🤒, psychological services, of course with its mosque in the middle of the territory.

This place is very much worth the admission fee and a great place to visit in your Edirne visit. It had ample signs with both Turkish and English descriptions. Everything was thoughtfully set up and it felt like a great museum experience as good as those I’ve had back home in US. The building itself and the history is just magnificent and leaves a great impression on you

This place is amazing and so informative about medicine , doctors and the instruments they used for surgery and treatment of people around 500 yeras ago. The place maintened very well , every room has it's own information. The mosque near the school is fabulous. I recommend definitely to everyone to visit here

Magnificent. History, culture, quietness and travel with stele.

The place was ruins and many homeless people around the walls. I did not feel safe. I suggest using a car to visit the ruins because it’s huge and stretches over a long distance. I just managed to film parts of it riding a bus from grand bazaar to zeitunburnu. I only can imagine how massive was it sit its days!

We just circled around this palace due to road closures. Unfortunately we didnt know there was the famous ‘Kirkpinar yagli guresleri’. We hope to see it close up next time we might visit this lovely city

Very disappointing experience. The museum closed at 17.00, even though it is still summer. They also wouldn't accept euro or leva or payment by card, only turkish lira. There was no place to exchange money near by and no parking offered.

Beautiful museum, small and humble yet it has pretty nice artifacts, it talks mainly about the history of Edirne and the region of Thrace, overall it was pretty good.

The museum is lovely - it contains exhibitions dating mainly from the Greek and Roman era, alongside the Byzantine epoch. They've also showcased some key aspects of the cultural dogmas throughout the Ottoman era. It's a compact museum, but it contains a lot of interesting artifacts and most importantly the information given is in Turkish, alongside English, which is great for anyone visiting! I highly recommend :)

A small museum with very small doorways into the various exhibit rooms (mind your head). Displays of metal lanterns, calligraphy and ancient tiles - the highlight in my opinion. Not a must see, but good for a short visit. And it is free to enter.

Aggressive sellers block your path. Do not talk with them or they follow you then block with your path with their arm!!!! Just like Egypt or worse. Egyptiand won't block you just follow you for 10 minutes. Ruining your mood for the museum and the guards could care less!!!

This mosque was built by sultan Beyazit the second, the Son Of Mohammed the conqueror (Fatih Mehmet Sultan). It is a huge complex. The same Sultan has another extra huge Mosque in Istanbul carrying his name as well.
