Auberge Jeunesse QBEDS Hostel is a hip and lively accommodation located in a Victorian house in the historic and charming Vieux Quebec area. The hostel offers a bar/restaurant, game room, movie room, and a well-organized kitchen with plenty of fridges. Guests have praised the hostel for its cleanliness, warm rooms even in cold weather, and well-equipped kitchen.
Great location. We were able to walk everywhere. We loved the staff and the hostel itself is clean and has incredible amenities. Probably the nicest hostel I've ever stayed at. My kids <10 absolutely LOVED it.

I had a great stay at Qbeds! The location is perfect, everything is within walking distance, and it’s super easy to catch a bus if needed. The staff were incredibly kind, helpful, and always available. I stayed in a private room, which was quiet and comfortable. It’s not very big, but just right for one person. The showers are a bit tight, but they work fine. I really liked the shared spaces, there’s a nice mix of modern design and old charm. Would definitely recommend!
Zaineb S — Google review
Pros Very beautifully designed Not that far from.main locations as long as you are OK to walk 15-20 minutes They have great amenities like reading room,Board games, gym and movie theater. Lots of space to just lounge on a lazy day Cons Beds are Wayyyyy to cramped, you CAN NOT sit up straight without banging your head Stange thing is that they have high ceilings so they could have had beds with more head space You have to make your own bed when you come in,fitted sheets an all I know SMH !! Showers are not the best but they are always clean so can't complain much. The showed space is literally like a 4 by 4 box😅🤣 No storage cabinets just under bed drawers that are squeaky and inconvenient to say the least. Over all the room amenities can improve but alverall good!

Stayed 2 nights with my partner in a private room, which are on the top, 4th floor. The building is beautiful, well maintained and with a central location. Be aware that the room is tiiiny - 20cm to the side of the bed and roughly a meter to the door. It was not a problem for us, but having unpacked some things, it was quite crammed. Our disappointment was with the breakfast, which was the main reason we went for this place instead of others. I was expecting a buffet-style breakfast with a wide selection, same as I experienced in other hostels. Here, we got 2 hard-boiled eggs, a coffee capsule, a small cheddar bar and a cereal bar. There was not even any pastry to accompany that, so it felt lacking, especially compared to our expectations.
Filip V — Google review
Location is good. Can borrow hair dryer or blanket from the reception. Served simple breakfast from 7am -10am. Have a gym do workout. Kitchen to use and store food in fridge. Plenty washroom and showers. Staff is not very friendly in general.
YY Y — Google review
Don’t book this hostel if you value your time. The rooms are ok, and I didn’t mind the noise at night. You have to put your own sheets on the bed which I found odd, and the showers are very small. There’s also a lot of stairs to get to your room. The worst part of my stay is that the reception room was constantly closed. I needed to grab my bags to leave, and the room was locked for 30+ minutes. There’s a sign on the door saying they’ll be “back in a few minutes” and to ring the bell on the door for service, but that does nothing. It’s nice that they offer bag storage, but it’s very frustrating that the staff is gone for long periods of time with no warning about when that occurs.
Meg A — Google review
I had a great stay at Qbeds! The front desk staff were super helpful, answering all my questions and giving me great tips on what to do in Quebec City. The rooms, washrooms, and all the facilities (laundry and social areas included) were very clean and everything worked perfectly, nothing broken or out of service. I also loved the grab-and-go breakfast, such a smart idea. Overall, friendly service, spotless facilities, good location, and a welcoming vibe, I’d definitely recommend Qbeds and stay again!
Alison G — Google review
It’s a comfy hostel and historic building,u will find the fit person to hangout and also a lot convenient around this area,10mins to old town by walk, lot bar, restaurants here as well, and watching movie in the cinema, do some sports inside gym also nice, hoping you can get more gym equipments in the future !

Hostel
Auberge de la Paix is a budget-friendly hostel located in a 19th-century townhouse, offering complimentary breakfast and WiFi. The cheerful painted rooms and tree-filled garden create a welcoming atmosphere. Situated in the heart of old Quebec, it boasts beautiful retro wooden stairs, tiny windows, and a relaxing backyard. While some guests found the noisy neighbors to be a drawback, others were thrilled with the convenient location close to all the best spots in old Quebec.
I do enjoy the hostel style of this place ! Great price decent close to attraction, bed are nice to sleep on . The AC does turn off and on every 5min? So it get loud and warm. Netflix included. Shower and wahsroom are shared ..yet only boiling hot water no warm ..(ive tried 2/3 floor and 2md works ...better ?) Otherwise great for first time to Quebec for solo or couple even family too.! But I'd recommend just bring personal item since it stairssssss to carry stuff up ! They do have bag chekc before or after so that's great ! I do like no car allow at front Street so it nice and quiet ! Staff are lovely as well
Scott T — Google review
Other than the ideal location, the place itself is in need of a lot of love. Staff is not present for several hours a day, making check in a bit of a logistical struggle. We paid $176 for a private room (3 people) and ended up sleeping in a creaky ikea bunk bed with lumpy pillows even though this was not advertised on the pictures of the private rooms. The bathrooms were pretty gross, with moldy shower curtains and one was even missing a shower head. I’ve been to a lot of hostels in my life and I’ve never seen one that felt quite so much of a rip off as this one honestly.
Milada D — Google review
Great location, but not worth the price – would not stay again. If you're looking to stay near Old Quebec, the location of this hostel is definitely convenient. However, if you're willing to walk a bit, you might be better off staying in downtown and visiting Old Quebec during the day. Unfortunately, almost everything else about our stay was disappointing. My partner and I stayed in a private room for two nights, and I can confidently say I wouldn’t return. The noise was constant and exhausting. I usually fall asleep easily, but here I woke up multiple times during the night. You can hear everything—people talking in the hallways and neighboring rooms, phones dropping, doors slamming, even drunk guests yelling and singing outside until early morning. The building seems poorly insulated, so noise travels everywhere, even into private rooms. The room was tiny. With one double bed and a medium-sized suitcase opened, there was barely any floor space left to move around. The mattress was very uncomfortable and squeaked loudly every time I changed position. There wasn’t even a mirror in the room, which was surprising. We saw staff cleaning the bathrooms, and they seemed to be doing their job. However, the facilities are old and visibly worn down. Some of the built-up grime and permanent stains made the space feel dirty, even if it was technically cleaned. It’s clear that the place is in serious need of renovation. Most staff were friendly and helpful, and check-in/check-out was quick and easy. They do post signs asking guests to keep quiet during late hours, but unfortunately, the structure of the building makes this ineffective. The walls are thin, and the noise made it hard to relax or feel any real privacy. Considering what we paid for two nights in a private room for two people, it simply wasn’t worth it. A good night’s sleep is the bare minimum you hope for when traveling—and here, we didn’t get that.

Worst place ever!!! DON'T BE FOOLED AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! IT'S A SCAM!! we stayed at this hostel with our group in summer and it was the worst I experience I ever had (and I backpacked through central America, and east Asia quite a bit). The hostel is dirty and filthy, bathrooms are never clean, showers only have one temperature (super hot) and nothing you can change. But the worst: there is no electricity in the rooms!!! The plugs did not work and the "air conditioning" turned out to be a mobile device that - oh wonder - did not work. It was extremely hot and dark in our room, horrible stay!!! The staff told us to get refunded but we never heard anything again. It is a total scam!!! Don't go there!!
Erik F — Google review
This place was just perfect for our family of five. A room to ourselves, everyone gets a bed, ideal location, a clean kitchen, indoor space to hang out, and a quaint outdoor courtyard. It’s a hostel, so don’t expect more than 2-star accommodation, but for a 2-star hotel I give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Would definitely recommend.
Mary H — Google review
We booked several rooms for a group stay and had the most horrible night possible. Do yourself a favor and do not go there, this place is a fraud. First, you have to pay in advance to even get the keys (this should have been a massive warning sign). The rooms were advertised with amenities such as air conditioning and a fan. I entered my room (104) and it was around 30°C inside, the air conditioning turned out to be a mobile cooling device that was connected to the window by tape. However, it did not work, neither did the lights and all the plugs. I then went back to the staff and was informed it might have been a broken fuse and was guided to the respective fuse box in the basement (not safe!!). After plugging the fuse back in, the lights and air conditioning worked for roughly 3 minutes before breaking down again (I later kept walking down to the basement every few minutes until I finally gave up at 1am). I asked for another room and was informed the place was fully booked. I then asked for a refund and was told to contact the staff the next day as it was close to the end of the shift. In the other rooms of our group (301, 303 and 304) it was the same issue and even the main light of the rooms did not work. We thus spent a horrible night in the dark with almost 30°C as the windows were locked in all rooms and could not be opened. The next day I contacted the main desk for a refund and was told the manager would be contacted. I waited 2hrs and then insisting to talk to the manager on the phone. We then agreed on a refund of 30% for our stay, however, I have not heard back from them ever since. I thus have to assume this is scam and fraudulent behavior. Not even to mention the bathrooms are dirty and filthy and there is no option to adjust the temperature of the showers at all. Just... go somewhere else!
David G — Google review
We booked one room for 2 adults. The room and the bed were cleans but I was surprised when opening the room door because the room can not be smaller. At night it’s very noisy inside because all the doors of a very old house can make a big sound when opening and closing. Near my room there are about 5 doors incl. shared bathroom next to my door. I woke many times at night by these sounds. And the auto on-off mobile cooler in the room make a terrible noise especially when auto starting, I had a sleepness night here, it’ s a bad experience here. I strongly recommended not to choose this place if you want to sleep. This place is very good location but only for enjoying the old Quebec without driving as you can conveniently be in and out many times, cook some food and take a short rest between your exploring the old city walkings. With $200 I can choose a better place.
LAN — Google review
The hostel was very well placed, just a short walk from many restaurants, bars, and attractions. The rooms and bathrooms were a bit outdated, unfortunately, with small electrical and plumbing troubles. The staff were lovely however, and we had a nice stay overall.

Families appreciate the amenities such as recreation areas with darts, foosball, billiards, and a TV room. I had an excellent experience! Friendly staff, good facilities, breakfast available. There is a possibility to join the city walking tour and they currently provide some bus passes to get around the city. Luggage storage is available and you can leave your luggage on the day of check-out, free of charge. Highly recommend it :)

Me and my friend stayed here for 2 night at the hostel. The overall stay was very good. The hostel is located in prime location within walking distance to many shops, restaurants, bars, parking garages and attractions! Continental breakfast was always good in the morning, fresh coffee, tea, fruits, ect.ect. Bathrooms clean ✅ with nice and hot water. Bedrooms can definitely use a bit of TLC, no AC in them (if your ok with it). Rooms can be noisy at night time. Overall I do suggest this hostel to anyone because of its location.
Noelle D — Google review
A+ location as it's a 15-minute walk from the train station. The staff are super nice, the gentleman i met initially at the front desk was very encouraging towards my broken French. Very clean. Breakfast of eggs, apples, tea, coffee, bagels, toast, jam, marmalade, butter, cream cheese, rice krispie treats. Points off for one-ply toilet paper, I understand it's a hostel but having kleeenex in the rooms would also be nice.
Alex W — Google review
Location is great and centrally located. The accomodations are average to below average (to be expected of a cheap hostel). Free breakfast is a nice free addition every morning. They also have free luggage storage after check out. The bunk beds were okay. There's a sliding curtain you can use for privacy in the shared dorm room. There are no a/c at this establishment. Showers and restrooms are co-shared. And both genders are on the same floor.

Great location with scenic spots within a few minutes of walking. Everything was super clean in the hostel and well maintained. Morning breakfast was the cherry on top and nice commen areas. Helpful, understanding and welcoming staff. Stayed there for 2 nights. Highly recommend.

The rooms can be squeaky but it adds to the charm of the hostel. Common area are relaxing and spacious. Loved the free breakfast too. Do the free walking tour first so you'll know the tips and tricks of going around

Amazing location right in the old Quebec area. Super safe. I found the locks a bit fidgety to lock ur door you have to really push it then scan the card. I’d avoid saint roch area outside of old qubec. Just felt sketchy lots of drugged out people spread out vomiting. Room was decent, clean, cheap all u need really. Other parts of qubec super beautiful, English is spoken in the hostel other things like Ubers not so much but u have google translate. Id recommend this hostel.

Group accommodation
Auberge Jeunesse à Loulou's Backpacker hostel in Quebec City is a top choice for budget travelers, offering a laid-back atmosphere and clean facilities. Located in Levis, it provides easy access to public transportation for exploring the city. The hostel offers more than just accommodation, with amenities such as kitchen facilities, laundry services, and common areas for socializing. Guests can also take advantage of bike rental, airport transfers, and meals.
I had an incredible stay at this hostel—it truly exceeded expectations in every way. First off, the place was spotlessly clean, which made settling in after a long travel day so much more relaxing. The funky, stylish décor gave the space a unique personality without sacrificing comfort, and the spacious layout meant I never felt cramped, even during busy check-in times. The outside deck and the side garden were a perfect place to unwind. The location was ideal—close to everything (trains and shopping) but tucked away enough that it stayed peaceful and quiet at night. I got some of the best sleep of my trip here. There is also ample parking. One of the biggest perks was how well-equipped it was: a fully stocked kitchen for making meals, and a washer and dryer available for guest use—huge pluses for anyone traveling for more than a few days. They really thought of everything a traveler might need. Whether you’re a solo backpacker, a couple, or a digital nomad, this place hits the sweet spot between comfort, style, and practicality. I’d absolutely stay again and highly recommend it to others.

Nice hostel that is located 10 minute drive to the ferry that goes to Quebec city. The rooms, bathrooms & kitchen were clean and that makes my stays so much more enjoyable. The kitchen was well equipped, including a small toaster over, toaster and coffee pot. The staff is very helpful as well, merci Hugo!!

I have been to quite a few hostels around the world, but never to one that is kept this well, this clean, and is maintained with such love and creativity. Its only possible disadvantage is that it is not that close to downtown Quebec City.

Motel
Auberge Saint-Louis is a no-frills townhouse hotel located in Quebec, offering rooms with relaxed decor and private or shared bathrooms. The hotel boasts a convenient location, just a 5-minute walk to the Battlefields Park, providing a blend of history and urban parkland for leisurely strolls. While resembling a backpackers hostel with shared facilities, the hotel's proximity to the Christmas market and Chateau Frontenac makes it an attractive choice for travelers.
Had a great time here. Room wasnt super spacious, but more than big enough for both of us and we had a private bathroom with a shower/bath. We were on the ground floor, so no stairs or anything. People were very nice, we could leave our bags there in the lobby when we were a few hours early. There's no parking included, but we came by train so no problem for us. Rooms were clean and the location was fantastic!! In the middle of the old town with a view of the old Palace/Hotel. It was very warm when we arrived, but luckily we had a good working airco.
Merijn H — Google review
Had a great experience here. The hotel was so cute and the staff were very sweet and helpful. There was a fridge to store food and snacks, coffee and a small seating area. We had a room on the 2nd floor and a private bathroom with air conditioning as we booked ahead. The room was comfortable and the bathroom spacious. The walls were a bit thin but not too bad considering it was the weekend. If I return to Quebec I would definitely stay here - affordable and in the middle of everything!
Taneeta D — Google review
That hotel has clean, but worned down super basic rooms. At least mine had a private bathroom. Well, you get what you paid for, and the price is very decent for the location. The room cleanup is on demand. The receptionists are friendly, but the interaction is limited to bonjour and bonsoir. When a receptionist comes to work in the morning, they apparently make a batch of cofee for the guests. However, if you live before 8am, you would not know about it. The location is fantastic, right in the middle of old town. The walls and doors are thin and you can hear people opening and closing doors of their rooms. However, the guests are pretty quiet, so the noise level is not bad.
Igor P — Google review
The location of this place was very convenient. We were able to hit all the highlights on foot within 15 minutes. The rooms had everything one would need for sleeping but that is it. Perfect for a weekend but not any longer. I found the staff to be a bit unwelcoming when we arrived, and when we left. In all we were satisfied with our stay.
Jessica P — Google review
I mean for one night this place is fine…you get a decent rate room in the heart of old Quebec City. Yes, the stairs are narrow and rough if you have heavy suitcases and the walls are thin but the staff are nice and the shared bathrooms were clean so can’t complain much for what you get.
Gary Z — Google review
Front desks are friendly, though nothing else works. Parking card doesn’t work, TV no working. Free wifi is like back 15 years ago….so slow… location is good….room is way out dated….toilet holder is broken, no counter top for the sink….nice old building, seems like having a lot history, clean enough
Picake T — Google review
I really recommend this hotel, it was clean and spacious. The best thing about this hotel is the location, very close to the sites that we wanted to see. Lots of restaurants around it, and a couple of gifts shops too.
Cris8 ( — Google review
Major safety hazards as seen in pictures. Not to mention the staircases that also dangerous. Plus got jipped on the parking service which they refused to reimburse. Needless to say it was a first and last time at this place. On a postive note, the bed was comfortable and the a/c worked well.

HI Quebec is a top-notch four-star hostel located in the heart of Old Quebec, just a short walk from popular attractions like Notre-Dame de Quebec Basilica-Cathedral and La Citadelle de Quebec. The hostel offers private and family rooms as well as male and female dorms. Guests rave about the spacious layout, prime location, and exceptional organization with attention to detail. Free morning coffee, city tours with local guides, and a well-equipped kitchen add to the appeal.
Loved this hostel experience. Its quite a large operation (big building, lots of rooms), but is obviously managed well by the staff, who are super helpful and accommodating. We stayed in a 4 bed mixed dorm on the 3rd floor, which was basic but comfortable. It had a bunk with a light& outlet (no curtain), a locker, a small table, and a place to put your boots--everything you need from a hostel dorm. Lots of bathrooms and showers available, but nothing private (eg. someone can use the toilet while you are showering). The bathrooms are also all gendered. I was really impressed by the large dining hall and kitchen, which was spacious and well stocked with dishes. No communal cooking ingredients (oil, spices, etc), but lots of fridge/pantry room for your own items and a good labelling system. We were able to get some food for free there, left from other guests. The included breakfast is pretty basic but satisfying. A selection of fruits (apples, grapefruit, bananas); bread/bagels with peanut butter, jam, butter, cream cheese options; oats; coffee; one day there was cereal; and dairy+nondairy milk. We also took the walking tour, which was a fun, inexpensive way to learn a bit about the city. The volunteer tour guide is very personable and we were happy to tip her! Superb! location in old town, close to a parking garage. I plan to stay again next time i come to QC.

Very great hostel with comfortable mattresses and amazing location! Only downsides are limited parking around the area, parking garages are far from the hostel and there is no elevator to get to the rooms. You need to carry your luggage on all the stairs (carrying luggage to the top 3rd floor was difficult). Breakfast and common rooms were great. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Great hostel, people are friendly, rooms are clean, beds are fairly comfortable. The interior courtyard was very relaxed and a good spot to unwind at the end of the day. I will say, the hallways and stairs get a tad confusing at times, I recommend finding a route that works for you and sticking to it

Staff is great and helpful and you get decent breakfast for free. Rooms are clean. Only thing that bothered me was that door made noise when you entered the room. The guy below my bunk made a lot of noise which disturbed my sleep as we don’t have any curtains on the bunk bed as some hostels do

This is a truly amazing hostel. It's got lots of space, a perfect location, and it's highly organized with extraordinary attention to detail. They have free coffee every morning. There are organized city tours with a local guide, by donation. The kitchen is a restaurant kitchen, with baskets for your food and plenty of space. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. I could keep going down the list. My opinion is that if you're staying in Quebec City, there's no need to consider anywhere else.

Place Royale in Quebec City, Canada is a charming cobblestoned square surrounded by cafes, shops, and a 17th-century stone church. This historic landmark dates back to the early 17th century and is an integral part of Old Quebec. It was the site where Samuel de Champlain founded the city in 1608. The area is filled with restaurants, coffee shops, and unique places to visit that are rich in history and character.
Place Royale is like stepping into a postcard from the past. This historic square is beautifully preserved, with charming cobblestone streets, colorful buildings, and rich French colonial architecture. It's where Quebec City began, and you can truly feel the history here. The Notre-Dame-des-Victoires Church adds to the timeless atmosphere. There are lovely little cafés, shops, and street performers around, making it a perfect spot to soak in the local culture. A peaceful and picturesque place you can’t miss when exploring Old Quebec!

Place Royale is one of the most beautiful and historic spots in Old Quebec City. The cobblestone square, surrounded by well-preserved stone buildings, feels like stepping back in time. Every corner showcases the city’s rich French heritage, from the charming architecture to the detailed façades. The atmosphere is lively yet peaceful, making it the perfect place to walk around, take photos, and soak in the history. It’s a must-visit for anyone wanting to experience the true charm and character of Old Quebec.

The birthplace of Québec City and a must-visit historic square! Place Royale is where French America began — beautifully preserved with cobblestone streets, stone buildings, and charming cafés that make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. It’s surrounded by quaint shops, local art galleries, and the stunning Église Notre-Dame-des-Victoires right at its heart. Every corner here is picture-perfect, especially in the morning light or during the holiday season when it’s decorated with lights and festive charm. A must-see stop for anyone visiting Old Québec — full of history, culture, and postcard-worthy views.

We took the funicular down to lower QC to look at all the historic sites. Walking around we found the Place Royal with the old church and statue of Louis XIV. Very peaceful area.

A historical and architectural gem. Full of re-construted buildings in the original location of the first settlement in this area. There are restaurants and shops throughout. It was such a lovely place to visit. The Museum of Civilization is nearby.

Fairmont Le Château Frontenac is a historic and luxurious hotel located on Cap Diamant, offering stunning views of the St. Lawrence River and Old Quebec. This iconic landmark, opened in 1893 by the Canadian Pacific Railway, has been a popular choice for luxury travelers and notable figures throughout history. Following a $75 million renovation in 2014, the hotel now boasts 611 contemporary rooms adorned with chic furnishings and elegant color schemes.
An unforgettable stay at Fairmont Le Château Frontenac! Our visit felt like stepping into a real-life castle — the architecture, the view of Old Quebec, and the atmosphere were absolutely magical. The staff were warm and welcoming from check-in to check-out, making us feel truly valued as guests. Our room was elegant, clean, and had a stunning view of the St. Lawrence River. We enjoyed walking around the historic area right outside the hotel — everything was within reach: restaurants, boutiques, and beautiful photo spots. The breakfast buffet and cocktails at the bar were top-notch. Definitely worth the visit if you’re in Quebec City — whether you’re staying overnight or just stopping by to explore, the Château is a must-see landmark that captures the charm and history of Quebec.

For some, this property might feel a little dated at first, but the staff, service, and of course the location and charm of the château truly can’t be beat! We booked two nights through the Chase Travel Portal since it’s one of The Edit properties, and were warmly greeted and recognized upon arrival. There were some sweets waiting for us in the room as welcome amenities, and we were upgraded to a lovely city-view room. Breakfast was very good — lots of variety and a made-to-order egg station. In-room dining was great too. The gym and pool were both very nice and well maintained. The bathroom was on the smaller side but well designed and didn’t feel cramped at all. I noticed a miscellaneous charge a few days after checkout, and when I emailed to ask about it, I got a reply within an hour and the issue was resolved right away. Huge thanks to AR Senior Clerk Christine for the amazing service!

We had a wonderful stay at the Château Frontenac in Quebec City. It is such a beautiful establishment full of charm, presence, and history, perfectly located in the heart of Old Québec. • The lobby, bar, and restaurants were buzzing with energy even though it was not peak season. We have stayed at several Fairmont locations, and this was the first time we had seen such a lively atmosphere in the common areas. • Service was excellent all around from valet and reception to Bar 1608, Le Sam Bistro, and room service. Every staff member we encountered was polite, professional, and eager to please. • Our junior suite was spacious, spotless, and perfectly situated with a stunning view of the city and port. We especially loved our afternoon at Bar 1608, sampling beautifully crafted cocktails while enjoying the cozy decor and breathtaking view. • We truly appreciate every Fairmont experience, and this stay was no exception. We will definitely be back. Thank you!

My friends and I were celebrating our birthdays and we thought we’d try staying local-ish. I have been to Quebec many times for work and have always wanted to stay at the Chateau. I was incredibly surprised with the experience! We had the best hotel stay. The location, the room, the food and the overall hospitality of every staff member were all fantastic! I will definitely come back and tell my family and friends they have got to stay at the hotel!
Llory L — Google review
I was staying at another boutique hotel a block away and wanted to spend 1 night at the Frontenac. The room was quiet and lovely and the view was beautiful, and the service was good. But it really wasn't worth the price. There are more shops and restaurants right outside the front door of the other place I stayed a block away, I felt more taken care of at the other place, and I paid under $200 a night there. There wasn't anything at the Chateau Frontenac that made me feel like I should stay there again. I was overcharged at supper, the spa experience: the therapist was late, the workers in the shops were not friendly. Sorry, but staying there almost felt like it was a dream shattered. I used to look at pictures of the Chateau Frontenac and dream of how amazing it would be to stay there. It wasn't like that. I've stayed at the Banff Springs and felt like a queen. I've stayed at Jasper Park Lodge and felt like I couldn't get that experience elsewhere, I stayed at the Chateau Laurier and felt so taken care of and people were incredibly friendly.... on and on at different Fairmont properties I've stayed at over the years. . This was the most disappointing, by far.

An absolute icon of Québec City! I didn’t stay at the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, but just seeing it from the outside was incredible. The castle-like architecture overlooking the St. Lawrence River is breathtaking — especially at sunset or when it’s lit up at night. It’s one of the most photographed hotels in the world for a reason! The area around it — including Dufferin Terrace — offers amazing views and plenty of photo spots. Even if you’re not a guest, it’s worth walking around to admire its grandeur and take in the historic charm.

We recently went to the hotel. It is in a lovely part of the city. The accommodations were very nice with the exception of a structural column that was in the middle of our room We had asked to get a different room, but we were told that none were available. If we ever go back, I would get a different room spending additional money, of course

Auberge Place d'Armes is a storied hotel located near the Chateau Frontenac in Old Quebec City. The property offers country-style rooms and suites that blend old-world charm with modern updates, creating a romantic and rustic ambiance. Each room is unique, featuring stone and brick walls, large walk-in showers, and an abundance of natural light.
You sure can't beat the location! Just down from Chateau Frontenac and easily walkable to all of Old Town Quebec. We were in attic room #33 and had great AC for a warm July stay. The room was cozy but we were comfortable and everything worked well. There was plenty of hot water with good pressure, towels were large and soft, bed was comfortable, and everything was clean. Even though the staircases were a challenge to manage with bags, we were well above any street or restaurant noise. Great value! The parking under City Hall was very close (1 block) and with quite reasonable rates - CAD$17.50/day

The location was perfect! It was walking distance to everything. There is no elevator and no reception counter to ask for luggage assistance. You call when you arrive . We asked for assistance and finally just carried it ourselves. When we got there off our cruise our rooms were not ready which is understandable. We had to leave our luggage in an open room with no security. We had 4 rooms and each had problems- ranging from digital keys not working, no heat, no cold water etc. The rooms were decorated cute but there were stains in the carpets and our blanket was torn and had holes . I asked for additional washcloths in the 2nd night because we had only been given 2 when we checked in- after waiting 4 hours I just cancelled the request. I will not go back or recommend the hotel-

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I never write reviews, but this experience was so frustrating I had to say something. I arrived at 4 PM to check in and found the cleaning staff still trying to deal with a room that was in terrible shape. I was told it was because of renovations, but honestly, it was just filthy. Not the kind of place you can even consider staying in. I didn’t spend a single night there. The photos I’ve attached speak for themselves. When I raised my concerns, someone who said they were the manager told me I’d get a full refund. Based on that, I left and booked another hotel last minute, which cost me even more. At that point, I assumed the situation was handled. But it wasn’t. The hotel ghosted me. No follow-up, no refund. I called again and was told the refund would be processed, but nothing ever happened. I had to go through Booking.com to get my money back, and I only got it because of my status with them, not because the hotel did the right thing. Also worth noting: there’s no actual reception desk. You enter through a restaurant, and the whole setup feels disorganized and not like a real hotel at all. In the end, I felt completely scammed. Lied to, ignored, and left to clean up the mess myself. Would never stay here again.

I should have read the previous reviews .. we stayed 3 nights , and like other guests we found the lack of a receptionist on site ,very disappointing. Also the room was very tired , housekeeping was poor , we ran out of toilet paper , carpet was very badly stained . Shower door didn't close , rotten woodwork . Entrance at hotel was tatty.work opposite the hotel meant scaffolding was in front ( this was not mentioned on website ) . However the shower power was very good , and Charles saved the situation, suggesting where the suitcases could be stored . We would like some refund .

We hit this place for one night and it was a nice day. Room was very accommodating, staff was wonderful especially Marine. The location was awesome with a wonderful view of the plaza. There's a restaurant downstairs that serves all 3 meals with a wonderful selection and also a quaint little bar there for a nightcap. Plenty of seating inside and outside at the restaurant. We definitely would stay again as the location is awesome for getting around and walking to the majority of the attractions.
Tom Y — Google review
The location is great, being very central in Vieux-Québec, but the room was a lot more cramped and dark than I expected from the booking website photos. One side of the bed you couldn't access without hunching over due to the ceiling beams (we were in an attic room - room 33), and one time I forgot about it and hit my head on it. It wasn't an issue for us, but the stairs are definitely narrow and would be difficult to use with luggage for anyone with mobility issues. In particular one set of stairs has a door at the bottom that is difficult to open. There is currently construction outside which started at 8 am, so I would not stay up too late lest you not get enough sleep. Minor issues, so I didn't feel the need to ask them to fix it, but one lightbulb in the washroom wasn't working, and the shampoo dispenser in the shower's lid was broken and there was only a tiny bit of shampoo in it to use. The ceiling beams also looked dusty and could use more regular cleaning. The virtual reception is okay, and they are easy to contact via text message and respond quickly. However, luggage can only be stored behind the unattended front desk, which isn't very secure, but we did so without any issues on the day we left.
R L — Google review
The best part was the service I received from Charles Corsiez who went over and above. It is frustrating that there is no front desk. It was Charles who helped me get a link to use to open my room. This system does not work very well. Most of the time, Charles had to help. Charles also works in the restaurant and gives such excellent service. He is an absolutely a gem. You are so fortunate to have such a smart, conscientious, hard-working man. Even though things have changed in the hotel, I will return because of Charles!

the place is quirky but lack of staff on arrival, and there no reception but a phone only, if you have a problem you have to wait up to 2h someone to come and help after you make a phonecall. thats make it no so nice experience the room was ok the shower terrible , we could t watch the tv as was stuck on the retail shop demo mode and was unwatchable and even after they come to see it they never fix it for us for our stay.

Auberge Du Tresor is a charming inn located in the heart of old Quebec, offering cozy rooms and a bustling urban bistro and bar with outdoor dining. The hotel's central location makes it convenient for exploring the city, with walking tours and the hop-on, hop-off bus tour starting just steps away from the front door. While some guests found the rooms to be on the smaller side, they appreciated the modern updates while still retaining old-world charm.
Stayed here the night before a cruise embarkation, and really could not have been more perfect. The rooms were extremely comfortable (maybe one of the best hotel beds I've ever slept on outside of a four star hotel?), clean, and well-appointed. The staff I interacted with was friendly and helpful, and I really have no complaints. My room was on the street side and I saw reviews that mentioned this made their stay noisy, but I just used the white noise app on my phone and it wasn't a big deal at all. The only downside is no elevators, so if carrying your own luggage is an issue, you might want to be cautious, but I think many hotels in the area have the same issue. If I ever come back to Quebec City, I'll absolutely stay here.

We booked at the beginning of the construction holiday in July and had a wonderful stay, the hotel and staff are excellent. Very nice place to stay. Unfortunately in the summer the view of the château is not the best if you book a room just for that because of the trees but still very nice view.

I had no idea when I booked we'd be in the heart of everything. It was so cool to have our home base so close, especially with the warmer weather, it was nice to pop in, cool down and freshen up for dinner. The room was clean, spacious and modern while still having character.

Very happy with our stay at Auberge. Frank and his wife are excellent hosts. If you are looking for a more affordable accommodation compare to Quebec’s old town- this is the place. I recently stayed at Auberge Aux Deux Lions hotel in Quebec for two nights with my family and we had an amazing time. We stayed in the Loft Vieux-Quebec family room, which was spacious and well-equipped with a kitchen, dining table, TV, and working desk. The hotel itself is an old house, which only added to the charm of our stay. The room was clean and tidy, and we especially enjoyed the small patio on the first floor for some relaxation time. The large kitchen on the first floor was also a great feature for families at that floor. The hotel's location couldn't have been better - just two minutes away from grocery stores, bars, and fancy restaurants. It was only a 15-minute walk to downtown, and the bus stop was just a minute away, making it easy to go anywhere we wanted. The hotel also had a payable garage, which was necessary in Quebec. Overall, our stay was perfect, and I would highly recommend Auberge Aux Deux Lions to anyone visiting Quebec. The lovely restaurant on the main level was perfect for breakfast or coffee/tea times, and the atmosphere was great. Thank you to the staff for making our stay so enjoyable!

Montmorency Falls, located just a short distance from Quebec City, is an awe-inspiring natural attraction standing at 83 meters tall, even higher than Niagara Falls. Visitors can enjoy various activities year-round, such as hiking in the summer and ice climbing in the winter. The falls are easily accessible by car or bike and offer stunning views from different vantage points including trails, a suspension bridge, and a tram.
What a cool park. You pay an entrance fee, and you have 2 choices to go to the bottom of the falls, walk all the way around the park, over the suspension bridge down this cool set of 478 stairs down to the bottom incredible views all the way through or option number 2. Take the cable car down to see the bottom of the falls. And take the cable car back recommended for people who do not have good mobility. We chose to walk over the bridge and down the stairs to the bottom of the falls, where we saw a rainbow, which was super cool and then took the cable car back up. We saw a lot of people trying to walk back up the stairs. And were heavily winded, so we decided to take the cable car up either way. It's a great day, incredible views front on top of the bridge from the bottom of the right. The falls you can even walk down all the way to the water. Super cool, highly recommended. We will return.

I visited this place in September, a rainy day & public holiday. Paid parking (all day parking). If you pay entry fee, you can visit the falls, boardwalk & long stairs to the top. The boardwalk is very long, atleast 30min walk to the bottom of the falls. Stroller, dogs are allowed on the boardwalk. Has a playground & benches. Kid friendly, dog friendly. Foods are allowed inside. If you want to ride the gondola ,you have to buy another ticket for the ride. You can ride both up & down multiple time for whole day with single gondola ride payment. At the top, there's a party house ,available to rent for private occasion which was under renovation in September; a vegetable garden & a bridge on the falls. You can watch the whole area from the top. It's a must visiting place for tourists in Quebec City. You can spend your whole day with family & friends there. However ,the gift shop isn't enriched with various souvenirs. Many people visit the place, number of washroom is limited. Overall, nice place.

If you are planning a trip near Québec City or even coming from Montreal, this waterfall is an absolute must-visit. It offers a spectacular natural escape that feels both peaceful and adventurous at the same time. Our journey began bright and early with a visit to the falls, and starting the day here truly set the tone for an amazing trip. Arriving in the morning is ideal because it allows you to beat the crowds, experience the serene atmosphere, and capture beautiful photos before the area gets busy. The gates to the falls open at 9 a.m., so I suggest aiming to arrive around that time for the best experience. There are multiple ways to make your way up to the top of the waterfall, each offering a different perspective. The most convenient option is the ropeway, which provides stunning aerial views as you ascend over the surrounding landscape. However, it does come with a higher cost, since there is both an entry fee and an additional charge for the ropeway. For a more budget-friendly and adventurous approach, I recommend taking the hiking trails or the long set of stairs that lead to the summit. The hike is not overly strenuous, and as you make your way up, you’ll encounter several scenic viewpoints that allow you to enjoy the waterfall from various angles. From the top, the view is breathtaking, with the cascading water roaring below and the surrounding nature stretching out into the distance. Whether you are staying in Québec City or making the three-hour drive from Montreal, this destination is absolutely worth the trip. Visiting this waterfall is a memorable experience that perfectly combines natural beauty, light adventure, and plenty of opportunities for photography. I highly recommend adding it to your travel plans at least once!

Amazing! You can find free parking on top of the waterfall. Please take a walk on the river ahead of it....are somme amazing million years old rocks on the river. The waterfall make you feel energized and amazed ( the stairs have 480 steps so....maybe a little tire after). Check the Citadel and the downtown as well. A lot of activity and fun! It is an amazing town! Love it!

Absolutely breathtaking! Montmorency Falls is a must-visit if you’re in Québec City — taller than Niagara Falls and just a 15-minute drive from downtown. The suspension bridge offers stunning panoramic views, and you can really feel the power of the falls up close. There are multiple ways to experience it — by taking the cable car, hiking the stairways, or viewing it from the bridge above. The trails are well maintained and perfect for a short scenic walk. If you visit in fall, the colors make the landscape even more magical. Parking is around $12, and you can easily spend 1–2 hours here exploring and taking photos. Definitely worth the stop — especially for photographers and nature lovers!

It was a nice little outing, but don't consider it a must see. They have a cable car so both the top and bottom of the falls are accessible. If you want to see everything be aware that there is a fair amount of walking involved.
Bradley M — Google review
Breathtaking views from suspension bridge or the cable car. There is small deck just before you reach the suspension bridge which gives the close shot of the fall. You can come down through stairs or can take the cable car to go down and get near to the fall. There are separate tickets for going inside the park and ride and is free for kids under 6.
Mohinish K — Google review
One of the best attraction around ghe quebec city. Be prepare for some stair climbing and walking. The park is also family and accessibility friendly. There's cable car available for fee. We got here at the end if the September. The volume of the fall was significantly reduced compare to the summer peak season. But it's good for hiking and sightseeing

The Citadelle of Québec is a historic complex that includes an active fort, a museum, and the traditional Changing of the Guard ceremony. However, during certain times of the year, this ceremony is replaced by a musical performance by the Royal 22nd Regiment Band. The citadel has been an important part of Quebec's history since it was rebuilt by the British in the 19th century.
Great History! A must visit place. The place itself is so beautifully preserved and maintained. The paid tour is so informative and the tour guide did a great job and answered all questions. The guards change is a masterpiece to watch and enjoy their band music.Got to see the great views of st Lawrence river!

Must seen. Amazing historical site. Its an active military zone so you will need to go with a tour guide. Tours are available both in french and English for one hour. We took the English tour. The tour guy, Oliver, was funny and friendly. He guided us through several buildings, provided info and let us took loads of photos and videos. Highly recommended

Must visit place while in the Quebec area. Historic 19th-century fortress still in active military use. Home of the Royal 22 Regiment. Guided tours are highly recommended and praised for being informative and engaging (tour guides are very informative). Changing of the Guard ceremony is a must see. Panoramic views of Québec City and the St. Lawrence River from the top Pros: Great guided tours, Scenic location Cons: Limited self-guided access and tickets may run out very quickly, vehicle parking can be tricky due to the narrow roads and limited space Highly recommend visitors to book tours ahead and wear comfortable shoes. ( note that the tour is offered in French and English)

A very well worth experience to visit the Citadel of Quebec . Book tickets in advance for the tour . We did the English speaking tour and it was very well paced and informative . Our guide explained every stop on the tour with details and answered all our questions. The tour lasts approximately one hour and makes stops along the various buildings and places of the Citadel. Breathtaking views of Quebec City despite being a cloudy fall day . Make sure you end your tour at the well maintained and highly educational museum indoors . It covers a historical span of the 22 regiment throughout the years up until recent times.

Really nice place to visit. The staff are friendly and very informative. They explain everything clearly and are happy to answer questions. The guards were interesting to watch and made the visit more engaging. The museum has some recent military items too, not just old history, which was a nice surprise. Worth checking out if you are in Quebec City.

Really interesting to learn about the history of this citadel with a guided tour with both English and French options. Amaizng view of Québec City, as well as an insightful museum that connects to a uniqie gift shop. Great for tourists or for enthusiasts of military history!

The Citadelle of Québec is great value. You get a musical performance from the soldiers and an hour-long tour. This also includes a museum you can go round in your own time. The gift shop was good, with souvenirs ranging from christmas decorations to board games. Tour guide was very entertaining and enthusiastic. My one complaint is that during the tour you would go into buildings with all kinds of exhibits, however you could not stay for more than a few minutes because there would be another tour right behind you. I definitely would recommend this place.👍😀
Jeremy F — Google review
Interesting buildings, changing of the guards was neat to see, there's a canon fired off at noon, and some neat exhibits, you do need a guide and can't explore by yourself as it's still an active base. Our guide was very good but the tour itself is a bit short as there's several going on at the same time, more time to explore would have been nice.

The Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, located on the vibrant Grand Allee, is a neoclassical museum with a modern wing designed by renowned architects Rem Koolhaas and Shohei Shigematsu. The Lassonde Pavilion, added in 2016, showcases a remarkable collection of 22,000 traditional and contemporary Quebec art pieces.
Wonderful venue filled with interesting art. The collection isn't huge, but there's a lot of variety and interesting pieces. The best bathrooms are in the basement. 🙂 Take the elevator to the third floor and come down from there. The elevator is a treat in itself. It's the biggest elevator car I've ever seen. The doors are epic! Lol

Beautiful building with rotating exhibitions. Pro tip: it’s half price after 5pm on Wednesdays (open until 9pm). The building and the courtyard are worth the trip alone.

I decided to visit the Art Museum during my stay in Quebec. I genuinely thought it would be a similar experience to visiting museums in Florence and Rome, Italy. However, I was thoroughly disappointed by what they now call “art.” Here, you be the judge. I’ll post pictures so you can form your own opinion, but as for me, I strongly advise against it. Save your money and time.

The exhibition was great. The cafe had good food for not a bad price. Nice way to spend a morning. We walked on the Plaines d’Abraham after.

Stunning exhibit of Niki de Saint Falle. Inuit artwork was uniquely displayed, the spatial feeling of this museum soothes.
Dorothy D — Google review
This is one of the most incredible museums I’ve ever visited. The Niki de Saint Phalle exhibit was purely breathtaking and one of the best exhibits I’ve ever seen. The upper floors have plenty to offer as well, but that first floor exhibit was something else.

The Helen McNicol exhibition is outstanding. This was my first exposure to her art and it's beautiful and thought provoking. The curators have done an excellent job in the layout and design of the exhibition. The third floor of Inuit art was fascinating, found the espace collection sadly wanting, but still found enough to see and think about for a four hour visit.

The Battlefields Park, also known as Parc des Champs-de-Bataille, spans 267 acres and was the site of a significant battle between French and British forces in 1759. The park features public meadows, trees, and monuments commemorating the historic clash. Today, it serves as a popular public park with open green spaces used for various events and concerts. Visitors can enjoy picnics, recreational areas, and stunning views of the St.
Dec2024 The whole Battlefields Park which encompasses not only one of the largest accessible green spaces in the city but also is geographically connected to a number of military installations and monuments takes on a sombre and profound aspect when covered beneath a blanket of snow. Truly beautiful and also keenly stark. Be prepared and careful crossing the frigid and slippery landscape during winter.

Beautiful well kept park overlooking the St.Lawrence River. Wonderful place for a picnic or walk. We enjoyed seeing the historical monuments as well

Wonderful walk through history - but has great hiking and walking trails through the woods as well. Nice pavilions and fountains. This is where the Battle of the Plains of Abraham took place and the British took over Quebec from the French in the 1750's. The trails here lead down to the Citadel and old Wall in Old Quebec city. Wonderful green space - and make sure you check out the museum at the end of the park!
Matt C — Google review
Huge park right outside the old city - super close, well maintained with lots of areas with different bits and pieces to see and do, plus it's a big historical site which makes it even more interesting. Art galleries, gardens, the nature walk and more make it an easy place to spend a day.
Benjamin D — Google review
Had a great day walking though this park. It is big so of you plan on walking to the end or will take 2-3 hours and about 7kms. We used the restrooms at the Rotunda in they middle of the park. There are also restrooms at the top of the governers promenade. We went in early autumn and there wasn't any cafe open so bring water and snacks. The views are amazing from the location! You can start your walk from the promenade in front of chateaux frontenac. Oh, and there is a nice nature trail on the east side of the park to walk along back from the south end to the north.
Matthew T — Google review
The park is enormous. It spans a huge distance and had tons of historical pit stops. Lots of grassy areas to sit and play and picnic. I would say though there are two huge downfalls: 1. The paths are terrible... we had a stroller and there would often be crosswalks that did not dip down ti allow the stroller to pass easily. We had to off road. 2. The actual trails, paths, locations of different landmarks and how to get there...non existent. You have to use Google maps or wander. It is not easy nor obviois how to get everywhere. You would think with all the obvious money the government invests in Quebec City that they would improve the accessibility of their main park...

The Joan of Arc Garden, established in 1938, is a beautifully landscaped park that combines classical French and English flower-garden styles. Located on the Plains of Abraham, a significant site for the 1759 battle between British and French forces, this lush urban park offers a perfect setting for picnics and also features historical attractions such as the Quebec Martello Towers.
They have the best and cleanest public washrooms here, they build a structure to look historic and made it into the nicest bathrooms, like wow, the parc itself if vast, huge, just green grass as far as the eye can see, there are a few spots of flowers like the Plains of Aberham, lots of benches on the water side facing lots of tall green bush, lots of old trees and endless room to wonder, its amazing having this oasis in the city.
Elizabeth M — Google review
The Joan of Arc Garden is one of the jewels of the Plains of Abraham and owes its name to the equestrian statue of Joan of Arc that stands in its center. the garden has its special style: rectangular and built slightly below ground level, it combines the French classical style with the British-style beds. Visitors have an opportunity to admire over 150 species of annuals, bulbs, and, especially, perennials. This garden is within the Plains of Abraham (National Battlefields Park). Accessible free of charge, the garden is unveiled at dusk with a lighting system that varies according to the atmospheric elements thanks to the system connected to the Quebec City weather station.

You can sit hours peacefully watching the flowers in and around the garden. It is a combination of British and French gardens with colorful flowers and diverse plants. We went for the poutine week, so the food was very standard and was OK. Ambient is kind of confusing and old style, not my style. Beer selection is amazing, however lying about the size of the glass is a no no, which makes you loose 3 stars: the pint is considerably smaller than the average bar. Staff is OK, could be nicer.
Pa T — Google review
Cool pub feel to it and the service was really great, but the food was a downer. My partner and I ordered two classic burgers with some coffee. The burger patty itself didn't taste like much for the amount of meat it had, could've used some more salt and pepper or other seasoning, but the produce was fresh (tomatoes and lettuce). The fries were awful, they were all the length of half my pinky finger as if it came from the bottom of a frozen bag. Wasn't too happy about that.
Pia W — Google review
Staff were friendly enough, but food was below par. ordered Fish and chips, which was way overcooked. My companion enjoyed hers though, so maybe just avoid the fish and chips. Wouldn't rush back, plenty of better options around the area. A bit rude to add the tip to the bill without asking!

Do not bother comparing to Paris. Which a lot of people come expecting. It's nice in its way. Small local shops with expensive stuff. Expensive food. A very small lane honestly. A couple of good things though. A funicular that takes you up and down to the Hotel for 5$. The port is nearby. A couple of murals and churches are nearby. The museum is close by. Everything at a walkable distance. One of the oldest staircases in North America is there. If you are keen on history. It's a good place to be. Very touristy. Have a good jolly time. Take some pictures. Have food. Go home. Walk if you want. Or cycle around. Its chill

We arrived today from the US. The deplaning process was smooth. We went through customs before baggage retrieval and it was a breeze. It started with self-scanning our passports on a terminal and answering a few onscreen questions. This terminal printed a document with our photo on it and some other information. Then we went to a manual passport control person who compared the printed document from the terminal with our passports. From there, we went to the baggage claim area and our bags were already there. Restrooms are right there at baggage claim. They were large and spotless. There was one more security check, right before we existed the secure area with our luggage. The accepted the printed document, reviewed it and kept it. Then we walked out of the terminal and grabbed an Uber to our hotel in Old Quebec City.

I'm rarely impressed with airports. They're usually utilitarian and built for efficiency. There are notable examples. Like Charlotte's white rocking chairs and piano music. Here, it started with very clean, and that the seats looked different. Higher backs so even my 6'4" self was comfortable. And the rolled top would likely be supportive for me; not a usual experience. But what blew my mind was the bathroom. Absolutely the nicest one in any airport, anywhere, EVER. Also working cubes, and some sofa seating. I'm impressed.

Great little hotel by the highway exit. The room is spacious and my kids can have a roll away bed that's quite comfortable. Staff are very friendly and helpful, they have laundry service for $10 that I recommend, saved me time and waiting around to do coin laundry. The Beautyrest mattresses are amazing and comfortable. The hotel is less than 10 minutes away from montmorency falls and an IGA grocery store. The breakfast is good and has variety, the staff works very hard to keep the food coming and cleaning. We just had a two night stay at this lovely place. Rooms are impeccably clean and as advertised in the pictures with modern decor. The location is excellent (around 15 minutes to old Quebec City area and 5 minutes from Montomorency falls), with a beautiful view of the river immediately behind the building and from the breakfast room. Breakfast was decent (egg patties, waffle maker, yogurt, bananas) and regularly replenished. And the service at this hotel is wonderful and the workers are very hospitable and helped with whatever we asked for. Thank you Thomas for all your help on our last day.

We do a lot of traveling by car and have stayed at many hotels, including several Sleep Inns, and we’ve always had great experiences. That said, our most recent stay at the Sleep Inn in Québec City truly stood out! On the evening of Wednesday, September 24th, the gentleman working at the front desk went above and beyond to make our visit special. He welcomed us with such warmth and genuine kindness that he immediately put a smile on our faces. Out of the goodness of his heart, he even gave us a room with a better view, something he certainly didn’t have to do, but it made the stay feel extra thoughtful and personal. The Sleep Inn here has always been wonderful, but his kindness made this visit unique and memorable. We’ll definitely be returning whenever we’re in Québec City again.

Must stay there if you’re visiting Quebec City. Location is so prime and amazing experience. It’s river facing and it’s almost 15 minutes drive to Quebec City so you don’t have to stay into city chaos and don’t have to worry about bugs and stuff as it’s so obvious talk of the town about bed bugs. And the Montmorency Falls are just 5 -7 minutes away. Plus they do provide breakfast included.

When I was in Vancouver, spent the night in a motel, which is not even a hotel. Room was clean when I came back. Breakfast here I would say is bad since we were forced to eat outside because food were ran out at 8:30am, which is not reasonable.

Student dormitory
Hotel
Residences Université Laval - Campus Accommodation offers modest accommodations, some equipped with kitchenettes and free Wi-Fi. Conveniently located in Quebec City, it provides easy access to attractions like Chateau Frontenac and Quebec Cruise Terminal. The rooms are reminiscent of student dorms but offer full bathrooms, air conditioning, and TVs. Laundry facilities are available for use. It's a suitable option for short-term stays, providing a reminiscent experience of university residence halls.
We had the premium room. We were apprehensive before but the room was very nice. Like a decent hotel room. Has portable A/C. Free parking. Would definitely stay here again. Bed is firm but fine.

I made a reservation for 3 nights. I received an confirmation email saying that ill pay when i check in - all good. I got there a little after 4pm. The visitor parking was covered in 5 inches of snow. There were no signs telling me where reception was. I entered into the front door. Beside the locked inner door, there are instructions inside saying to call on the door phone this number for entry, this number for security. I accidentally called security and they transferred me to the front desk number. I listened to hold music for 15 minutes while people came and left the building. I finally hung up and called again in my car. I must've stayed on hold for 30-45 minutes combined while I googled about the lodging trying to figure out how to check in. One of the numbers I called went straight to a voicemail message saying the desk was closed. Finally I emailed them explaining my situation. I successfully received an email 1 hour later telling me to check in at the reception desk. I emailed them again asking where is the reception desk. They emailed me back another hour later asking for my number so that they could give me directions. At that point, i had given up, found a new hotel to stay at, moved into my new room, and was walking to the concert, so I didn't see this email until the next morning. I replied with a more polite version of "i gave up on you" and recommended they provide better instructions. They replied 3 hours later saying that all the instructions were included in the booking confirmation.

I booked six nights at this residence for an academic conference because the price was so incredibly cheap. I will NEVER do this again. Here's why: I'm writing this review on night 3 of my six night stay. Things were okay during the first two days, aside from the fact that the room was small and that it smelled musty, I did not mind given how cheap/inexpensive the rate was. However, by the third evening (i.e., today), several bus loads of what I suspect are high school soccer players arrived. Suddenly (and while I was taking a shower), the hallway and bathroom were packed with a bunch of 13-16 year olds with far too much energy. They were shouting, jeering, singing poorly, and BANGING on doors. One was even banging on the door while I was showering. The worst part is that there were "adult" chaperones with them, but even several of these adults looked like they just barely older than the teenagers themselves (e.g., early 20s). The adults were simply not reigning in the behaviour of the kids. I went to the front desk to complain but they said there was nothing they could do. I cannot believe they would do this (e.g., book a bunch of rambunctious teenagers in rooms next to other guests). The respectable thing would be to ensure that these soccer teams have a whole floor to themselves so that they don't bother the other guests, but it is clear and obvious that management decided they want to maximize revenue at the expense of the guests. And yes, I talked to another guest - he apparently ALSO complained to the front desk just moments before I did. This means I am not the only person on this hallway that is being bothered by the rambunctious behaviour. It is unfortunate that management could not source another room for me to stay in as I had requested (they said that all the rooms were booked this weekend). I understand that. But at the very least, they should have offered me some sort of discount or compensation (e.g., money back for 1 or 2 nights given that these rambunctious kids will be here for two nights) so as to defray the cost of me renting a room in a different (quieter) hotel WITHOUT disrespectful teenagers shouting, jeering, and banging on doors.

When we arrived at the front desk they gave us 2 key cards that didn’t work. The rooms don’t have a bathroom and a shower except a small sink, the bathrooms and showers are in 1 room across the hall. When we finally got to the room, it was HOT, the rooms don’t have AC just windows, even with 2 fans running it was still very hot after the 2 nights we stayed here at Laval University.
Gregoriy D — Google review
A good price, but If you are visiting Quebec on summer, keep in mind that this hotel is very hot. No air conditioning. I couldn't barely sleep.
Gustavo C — Google review
While we were warmed that placing our personal food items in the Commons fridge was at our own risk it was still very disappointing to find all of our food items removed from their labeled bags and half of it missing the very next morning. This was more than inconvenient as we brought the home prepared for sure to dietary restrictions and were now short. A university is supposed to be a place of higher learning where young adults are starting to take on the responsibilities of life (although most of those were saw were not young adults but full in adult students). Guess they have a lot of learning to do, like stealing is not acceptable.
Corinne B — Google review
The room had no fan and no ventilation. I sweated a lot when I lay on the bed and couldn't sleep because of the hot. The front desk didn't provide fan either when I asked. I had to spend the night in the car. The student dormitory give me an unforgettable bed experience.

We would never recommend using University Laval Residence to anyone and in fact we would never recommend Agoda booking website to anyone. This was our last time we used Agoda and you are losing a long time loyal consumer. The pictures of room on the Agoda website and on the hotel brochure were completely different from the actual room which was a trash. The hotel staff was rude and would not do anything to make the experience right. It was a similar thing with Agoda as well. The brand did not make any efforts to make the situation better for their customer. We called Agoda right away and we got no solution. The room did not have any fan or ac. The audacity of Agoda to say that fan was not listed while we did booking! So if next time the Agoda listing does not mention lights, be prepared to stay in a dark room and expect Agoda to do NOTHING!!! We were forced to move out of our hotel and checkout early and end our vacation abruptly. The University Laval Residence is absolutely trash where students make sure you do not get a good night relaxing sleep that you would want in your vacation. The rooms are small, smelly, dirty and no ventilation. It was like oven in there. Hated everything about this place.

Hôtel AtypiQ is a delightful haven for curious travelers seeking a blend of modern comfort and convenience in the heart of Old Quebec City. This innovative hotel features air-conditioned double rooms that are compact yet cleverly designed, accommodating 1-2 guests with ease. Each room boasts a flat-screen TV with streaming services, a private bathroom, and even a terrace offering lovely garden views.
What an amazing... and interesting place!! By far the most unique hotel that I've ever stayed in and in a fantastic location! Yes, the bed is actually on the roof when you enter the room... but it's easily brought to the ground when you need it. A compact room with all the amenities you need as a traveler. Some great outdoor sitting spaces as well and only minutes to walk to great restaurants and the heart of old Quebec City. Note: If you're on the taller/larger side, this room option may not be the best for you. The cook your own breakfast is... although different... amazing! They they provide all the basics like bread, eggs, fruit.... and all the utensils, pots and pans in a bright open kitchen. This is certainly an AtypiQ experience and location that we would highly recommend!
Pete D — Google review
The check-in experience was disappointing. The receptionist did not assist when the machine wasn’t working, and only after another guest suggested we ask for help did we manage to proceed. The luggage storage was also inconvenient, located in the basement without tags for identification. When we returned at 5pm, we found the manual elevator unusual and the room quite small. The bed setup was tricky to use and even caused some bumps while arranging our things. The sink and mirror design made using the bathroom less practical. On the positive side, the room was clean, and the towels were fresh. Unfortunately, the soundproofing was poor, and we could clearly hear neighbors moving their bed late at night and early in the morning. Checkout was much smoother thanks to a different receptionist who was attentive and helpful. The hotel’s location is excellent—close to attractions and easy to find. Overall, though, I expected better service and a more comfortable room for the price.
MC Y — Google review
The location is great — you can walk to almost every tourist spot within 15 minutes. The room was small but clean, though a lot of things weren’t working properly, like the bathroom fan, the AC, and the TV (only a few channels worked, but at least you can connect your phone to it). The Wi-Fi was good though! Breakfast is self-serve and available all day, but there aren’t many options. You can also bring your own food to cook since there’s a shared kitchen, which is nice. I was going to give this place three stars because I didn’t think the price matched the condition of the room, but the front desk staff was so warm and friendly! Overall, it was still a good stay. Thanks for the hospitality!
Tiffany — Google review
Check-in was confusing: the email I received said I should expect a QR code in my messages, but that never came. When we got to the hotel, the host did not greet us or offer to check us in, I had to introduce myself and ask for that service. The room was quite atypical, and extremely minimalist, but quite well-done. The small table folds into the wall, any tall items move aside, and a gentle pull brings the bed from the ceiling to the floor.
Win B — Google review
The most disappointing hotel I have been in. They say breakfast included but it is self serve.... as in you need to cook the food yourself. The rooms are tiny. There was mold and dust all over mine. We raised these issues to both Expedia and to the hotel and were not given any refund. I needed an iron for the conference I was attending. There was one iron for the entire hotel. It was broken. This is not a hotel, this is a hostel. A dang expensive one too. Would never step foot in it again.
Hajar A — Google review
It's a very basic hotel but it is in a great central location in the old town. The rooms are very small and basic and you prepare your own breakfast in a kitchen with other guests ,as well as clean the dishes after. It has a very nice roof terrace with views all around of the Chateau Frontenac roof and other cool buildings. I would stay again because of the great location . If you are looking for a spacious luxury hotel with all amenities then this is not for you.
Harald H — Google review
I feel like I was scammed by this "hotel". The worst thing was that the bathroom in our room didn't have a door that closes, only a folding screen that doesn't reach the ceiling and doesn't even fully hide the bathroom area. Effectively the bathroom is in the same shared space as the bed, with no extra ventilation or separation. This was absolutely *not* clear from the pictures (the folding screen is designed to appear superficially like a door) or from the room's description. In hostels that offer shared bathrooms, there are at least several stalls per floor, and not a single stall in the basement that guests from all floors queue up for in the morning (like in this "hotel"). Aside from that, I really like the concept of tiny well-thought-out rooms in a perfect location, and I've been to hotels that executed it perfectly. But this hotel executed it poorly. The room design was ill conceived -- it feels like someone didn't care enough to think it through -- and our room was in disrepair: the curtain masking the window (overlooking a common garden) was broken, the shower flooded the floor with each use, the fridge outlet was bent and couldn't be plugged, and the AC controls kept turning off.
Roei T — Google review
Spent 5 days in QC and loved our stay here. This hotel is in a great central location and it’s absolutely charming. The rooms are quaint and clean. Central kitchen is open 24/7 so makes an awesome shop to start your day or refuel. Bonus is rooftop patio. We would absolutely stay again.

Church
Saint-Roch Catholic Church, located on St. rue du Bois since 1647, is one of the oldest Catholic sanctuaries in Canada. The church features beautiful architecture and a solemn, calm interior. Despite being closed due to the pandemic, it is known for its grand stature and significant historical value. The building houses the only active burial crypt in Quebec and offers a serene atmosphere for visitors to appreciate its old-style Catholic architecture.
I had the pleasure of attending the Good Friday Passion of Christ.

I came on a Wednesday and was disappointed that it was only open a few hours on Sunday. The basement is used as a homeless shelter and food was being distributed in the mid-morning when I was there. Unfortunately I was only in the city so missed my chance of seeing inside the church where my ancestors worshipped.
Eileen W — Google review
Google’s hours are not correct. I stayed 2 blocks from here and I tried to enter many times, but always closed. Finally I found out they have one mass a week, which is Sunday at 11 AM. They open it at 10. As far as I know, that’s the only time the church is open. There are homeless people all around the church, and they curse you in French, so be aware. If you’re with children I might not recommend this area. Inside, the church has been surprisingly well-maintained for a church that has little activity. Totally worth a visit if you can get inside. Information as of August 18, 2024.

Big church, solemn and calm interiors. It was undergoing construction when we went, and arrived a couple of hours early for Sunday mass (they only have 2 mass scheduled on Sundays). Was dim inside, but I imagine it will be beautiful when lit.

Google presented us the schedule for St-Roch Toronto, We misinterpreted. Unfortunately, St-Roch Québec was closed at Sunday, 9 am. Call ahead for celebration times, in French, before going. The architecture of this building is significant. It's worth a walk around to appreciate it's grand stature. The only active burial crypt in Quebec lies inside. The site is best appreciated, understanding that St-Joseph Est was the shopping centrale in the 1960's era of the department store before the shopping mall. Notwithstanding shifting economics, this building is magnificent.
Bob V — Google review
Went this morning while visiting the neighborhood. The church itself is so so beautiful. However, as soon as I went in, a weird man was rolling a marijuana joint while sitting in one of the benches. He disappeared a few minutes later. Then a different man was at the door, he asked for money. There was no one else in the church. I got really scared and decided to leave right away. I went there to pray but clearly not the best environment for a woman to be alone in a dark church with two weird men inside.

Auberge Michel Doyon is a modest guesthouse offering understated rooms, some of which come with kitchenettes and free parking. The rooms are basic and budget-friendly, with the possibility of having a private or shared bathroom. While some guests found the mattresses to be of lower quality, others appreciated the clean and quiet environment, as well as the helpful staff.
The location is very good. The staff is friendly. Great value. But there is a stain on the bed sheet, and at night I can hear the sound of electric current in the wall of bedside, although I didn't plug in anything to the socket. Everything is very good, except these two minor issues on the cleanliness and comfort.

The location is perfect, bus stop is just at the corner. The room was clean, bed was good. We stayed for three nights no complaints. There is a laundry in the premises. The lady at the reception was very friendly and helped us check in quickly. I strongly recommend it. I will book it again in the future if back to Quebec

Clean, cheap, didn't hear anyone during the night, had air conditioning and did the job, sympathetic staff, great pillows, enough free parking places. Overall, very good. The only down side is the mattress since I'm used to a high quality mattress in my apartment. So that might be an issue for some people, but still, a great place to stay!

WYSWYG What you see is what you get. An older, slanty-shanty type of stay. I booked the single bed/3pc bathroom suite for 2 nights. Other rooms have other amenities but I knew going in it was going to be a lay-my-head type of room. Great location, 30m walk to the Citadel/40m walk to Old Town. Boulangerie nearby/lots of Anglais-friendly citizens/shops. 10m bus ride to downtown, $4/per person one way bus fare. It was exactly what I was expecting it to be, a bed for the night and a fridge to keep my beer cold.
Stephen B — Google review
Broken light, missing light switch, uncomfortable bed, loud fridge, very loud airco, bad smell, tap at the sink almost exploded every time we used it, no hot water in the shower, almost impossible to connect to the wifi.
Stijn G — Google review
Very bad service. They do not provide fully basic comfort. In my case, the robinet for the bath was broken at night. Then we had to wait until the next morning to be able to take a shower. Even though the staff let us use another room's bath, it was unexpected and inconvenience. In the end the hotel didn't compensate anything for us, and the only thing they did was feeling sorry for our situation

Gîte le 812 is a simple yet affordable property in Quebec, offering modest rooms and a guest lounge. While not centrally located, it's just a short bus ride away from the main attractions. The accommodation provides a budget-friendly option with free breakfast and hostel-like features such as a shared kitchen. The rooms are described as cozy and clean, resembling private hostel rooms at an attractive price point.
Amazing staff and very friendly! My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay here, we definitely recommend staying here! The neighborhood is also a plus!
Jackson N — Google review
The room feels more like the private room of a hostel (and they are selling it with the price of a private room of hostel, so quite make sense). Nothing fancy, nothing fabulous, but you get everything you need. The room is kept very clean and well maintained. Absolutely worth the money you paid. So it is a very good option if you have limited budget, but looking for something better than a shared dormitory room. The only issue I want to mention is they are using a single key (a solid brass key, not an access card) for every door in the building, from the entrance of the building, to the door of the 2nd floor hall way and the door of your private room.
Jimmy Z — Google review
They don't clean the decorative sheets, which makes the room smell like the body odour of previous guests. You should pay more to stay somewhere else unless you like pillows with hair on them.
R — Google review
Good value for two people, staying three days in Quebec. Had the feel of a "youth hostel," almost. On street parking is available. The "front door" is locked. Go to the next door on the right, into the restaurant. They will have your key, and give you instructions. Room was "cozy" and clean. Desk, dresser drawers, TV, small sink. Queen size bed, plenty of pillows, towels. WiFi is free, and strong. Community area includes kitchen, refrigerators, microwave, coffee machines, and a laundry area. There is a small grocery market two blocks away, the Marche Bonichoix, plus a couple of other small stores. Right around the corner is a stop for the Quebec City bus. Buy the bus pass at the "Sprint" Eko gas station a block away. If you're going to "Old Town," take the 807 bus. All day passes were $9.00 each. Easy to board, just tap your card at the reader.

Accessible via bus number 78 from the airport, this terminus also connects with other local buses and trains, including routes to Sainte-Foy and Old Quebec. While T. Les Saules is known for its cleanliness and clear signage, it does lack heated waiting areas and restroom facilities, which can be a drawback during the colder months.

Well organized transfer station, with clearly labeled waiting areas for different lines. Shelters at each waiting spot to shelter one from weather. However, quite dirty / filthy. (Translated by Google) Roger will welcome you in a pleasant manner and will happily chat with you. It's not a big hotel but it feels a bit like home. Very good value for money. (Original) Roger vous accueillera de manière agréable et discutera volontiers avec vous. Ce n est pas un grand hôtel mais on est un peu comme à la maison. Un très bon rapport qualité-prix.

(Translated by Google) WORST INN IN QUEBEC. Even this star doesn't deserve it. I booked for 2 rooms for 3 people and initially everything was confirmed. When we arrived, the owner greeted us with a drink already in his nose. Around 6 a.m., he took me out of my room, telling me that I had reserved a room, and put me in the basement while clearing out a woman who was occupying the room. Around 10pm he was completely drunk with his son and they threw a tantrum just because we asked him nicely for towels for the dirty bathroom which was supposed to be included. Eventually he arrogantly kicked us and another couple out just for towels and lack of respect. When running a hostel, it is important to be organized, polite and professional. Which he didn't have at all. I'm used to coming to stay in hostels in Quebec and this is the first time that this has happened to me.

(Translated by Google) My rating is 0/5, but to write a comment, it must be 1/5 minimum... I'll spare you the details of my horrible experience, I could write a novel.. Strong point: friendly host at first glance... nothing more. Weak points: completely disorganized owner (management of reservations, return calls, does not answer the phone, absent when I arrived even if a specific time had been agreed...). Cleanliness of the premises questionable during my "check in" at 4:30 p.m. (untidy rooms, unchanged bedding, dirty shared bathroom). Exterior house and dilapidated courtyard (entrance floor infested with ants). I politely left for the above reasons and several others that I will not write... I do not recommend this gîte at all! It's better to pay a little more for a pleasant and charming environment on the one hand, but above all for peace of mind!

The inn shouldn't even be open anymore. It's a shame! (Original) Hôte alcoolique, déjà saoul au petit déjeuner à 8h. Ne s'en cache pas, a même avoué boire de l'alcool.Très gênant... Very nice, quiet, and clean. Kitchen well equipped with almost everything you need. Good location. Parking across the road, walking distance to old Quebec. Only minor critique, would have loved bigger than a double bed… but it was very comfortable! Would recommend. Michel was supper helpful and nice and responded quicky!
