Historical landmark
Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal, dating back to 1824, is a magnificent church renowned for its vibrant stained glass and as a venue for concert performances. The neo-Gothic interiors have been transformed into a 21st-century digital spectacle through the Aura show by Moment Factory. This multimedia studio has projected colorful rays and images onto the arches, columns, altar, and vaulted ceiling, creating an awe-inspiring experience.
Unforgettable Experience at Montreal Notre-Dame Basilica. Even if you're not religious, the AURA light show at Montreal’s Notre-Dame Basilica is absolutely worth seeing. The basilica itself is stunning, with its deep blue ceiling and intricate Gothic architecture. But the real highlight is the AURA show—an immersive blend of music, lights, and storytelling that brings the space to life. The story is easy to follow and beautifully presented. Outside, the square is full of energy with street performers and local charm. Inside, it’s pure magic. Highly recommend this to anyone visiting Montreal!

Visiting the Notre-Dame Basilica in Old Montreal was already high on our list, but the AURA light show elevated the experience into something truly unforgettable. From the moment we stepped inside, the neo-Gothic architecture wrapped us in a sense of awe—towering columns, intricate woodwork, and stained glass that seemed to whisper centuries of history. Then came AURA. The show begins with a self-guided walk through the Basilica, where subtle lighting and ambient sound bring the art and architecture to life. It’s like the building itself is breathing. And then, the main event: a 20-minute multimedia spectacle that transforms the Basilica’s interior into a canvas of light, color, and sound. The projections danced across the vaulted ceilings and ornate altar, synchronized perfectly with a dramatic musical score. At times, it felt like we were inside a living painting—one moment evoking the serenity of nature, the next pulsing with cosmic energy. The use of lasers and animation was tasteful and powerful, never overwhelming, and always respectful of the sacred space. 🎶 The Casavant organ’s deep tones added a majestic layer to the experience, and the transitions between scenes were seamless. Whether you're spiritual or simply appreciate art and architecture, AURA is a must-see. It’s not just a show—it’s a celebration of light, history, and imagination. Highly recommend catching an evening performance to feel the full impact. We left with goosebumps and a renewed appreciation for how technology can enhance—not replace—human creativity.
S B — Google review
While the advertisements for the AURA experience are stunning, it holds no candle in comparison to sitting in one of the pews. The AURA show tells a story, and it is beautifully captured within the walls of the Notre-Dame. Seating is based on first to enter, so if you wish to sit closer, show up early to wait in line outside. There really isn't a bad seat if you can manage to get in a center pew. If you arrive closer to the starting time, you will likely be disappointed in your seats as it isn't ideal and you are further left or right. Some of the pews are sectioned off as you won't be able to see anything due to pillars and structures blocking the main focal point. Once the show starts, photographs and videos are prohibited, and I can completely understand why. It gets very dark around the floor and pews, so any light from phones can become a major distraction and potentially ruin the experience. They also have the option for you to light a candle in memory of a loved one. It completely adds to the experience and provides a level of comfort that makes everything even more special. They had four-day candles that were approximately ten dollars, while the LEDs cost two dollars and only last for the duration of your stay. The show itself lasts about a half an hour; I was slightly confused on the Fever website when purchasing tickets we it said the duration was three hours. Regardless of the time it takes, every minute was worth it. This experience offers up some stunning imagery in tandem with holistic audio. It's an incredible, spiritual experience and I would recommend this to anyone visiting Montréal who has the opportunity to do so - religious or not.

It is not big and will not take much time to check out all unless you want to pray. I did not see the light show though, but its stunning architecture, intricate interior design, and historical significance amazed me. With the interior along with seeing people talk in low voices, made it feel like a sacred place to sit and think quietly. For me, it is one of the most amazing experiences one can have.
Zahida I — Google review
It was our first experience attending an aura show in a church, and it was truly wonderful. The church is huge, very old, and beautifully maintained. Even though the place was full for the show, the well-organized staff made everything easy and comfortable. The show lasted about 25 minutes, which felt just right. The sound system and lighting were of excellent quality, creating a perfect atmosphere for the performance. Note that photos and videos are not allowed during the show. Parking can be a bit tricky, so it’s best to find a paid parking spot nearby and arrive early to get a good seat in the middle section. Overall, a great experience and definitely recommended!

The Basilica is beautiful. We went for the evening light show and were a little disappointed. Again, beautiful building but the show was just ok. I think we would have both been happier just seeing the architecture and details and hearing the history of the building. The show just didn't seem to have a theme, one part may have depicted the change of the seasons but that was about it. I wouldn't see the show again but would love to walk through the Basilica during the day.
Ryan M — Google review
Wonderful place to visit and be still with God. Make sure you plan an hour to view all the displays. Recommend to get a guide or rent the audio guide that explains all the key displays. The small chapel behind the main sanctuary is nice to visit as well. Overall I don't think you will be disappointed if you are into catholic and Christian religion.
SSIU — Google review
It was a wonderful experience visiting this church. It made me feel truly amazed. Learning about its history made it even more meaningful. Although part of the building is under renovation, every corner of the church is full of beautiful and intricate details. Even though there were a lot of people inside, most were very respectful. However, I did notice one or two people trying to take photos inside the prayer room, which was disappointing. I think it would be helpful if someone could guide visitors near the prayer area to remind them to be quiet and respectful. After I finished praying, people continued to take photos and talk, which made me feel a bit upset. Overall, it was an incredible experience to visit such a stunning and historic building in Montreal. I would definitely recommend it to everyone.

Saint Joseph's Oratory of Mount Royal is a grand Catholic church located on the south side of Montreal's namesake mountain. It features a magnificent dome, an art museum, beautiful gardens, and organ concerts. The basilica has a rich history dating back to 1904 when a small chapel was built by Andre Bessette, known for his miracle cures attributed to Saint Joseph.
Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal is a truly breathtaking and spiritual place to visit. The architecture is stunning, with its majestic dome visible from all around Montreal, and the interior is peaceful, welcoming, and filled with history. The gardens and surrounding grounds are beautifully maintained, offering a perfect place for reflection and quiet walks. Whether you visit for faith, culture, or simply to admire the beauty, this site is a must-see landmark in Montreal. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the city!
Negaresh N — Google review
A must-visit if you are spending a weekend in Montreal! This is the largest oratory in Canada, and the sunset views from here are absolutely mesmerizing. The new infrastructure is very thoughtfully designed, with lifts and escalators that make it accessible for seniors and people with disabilities. Don’t miss exploring the chambers below the main hall or the serene garden behind the dome and the best part is, it’s completely free to visit. Oh and the gift shop has one of the best variety of religious souvenirs with reasonable price
Onurag — Google review
Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal is truly one of Montreal’s most magnificent and peaceful landmarks. Whether you’re visiting for spiritual reasons, architectural beauty, or simply to enjoy the panoramic view of the city, this place never disappoints. The architecture is breathtaking, combining grandeur and serenity in a way that instantly captures your attention. Inside, the main basilica is vast, calm, and filled with light, and the smaller chapels offer a more intimate and reflective atmosphere. Even if you’re not religious, you can feel the sense of peace and devotion that fills the space. The view from the top of Mount Royal is stunning, especially at sunset—you can see much of Montreal’s skyline and beyond. The gardens and surrounding grounds are beautifully maintained, perfect for a quiet walk or just sitting and taking in the view. There’s also a museum and a small gift shop that are worth visiting, and the staff and volunteers are kind and welcoming. The climb up the steps is symbolic for many visitors, and even if you just go halfway, it’s a meaningful experience. Overall, the Oratory is a must-see attraction in Montreal—a place that combines spirituality, history, and natural beauty in a way that stays with you long after your visit.
H&M — Google review
A place of many miracles, and a miracle indeed if you make it up the numerous stairs before finally reaching the front door! Saint Brother Andrew, the founder, really had our cardiovascular health at hearth when building the sanctuary. Nowadays known across the world, people of all faiths are welcome at the catholic shrine. It seems miraculous healing by the mighty angels and the great architect in the sky operates without discrimination. At first humbling by its size and location on the Mount-Royal, the Oratory is nonetheless a place of calm and serenity, to the point where you might hear thoughts flying around. For some a manifestation from the above, for others simply a wise architectural setting. You may come to your own conclusions while looking at the many orthoses hanging on the wall, left there by those healed graciously by ethereal manifestations, according to the legend. Close by, the heart of the Saint is kept in a room where worshippers may pay respect to the great man. Elegantly, His upper chapel (The Basilique) was built on Renaissance trends, although there are noticeable art-deco lines. As for the lower chapel, it is significantly set as a classic catholic church. Do look at the massive organ at the back of the upper chapel, it is really something, and especially great at listening to if someone is playing during mass. A walk outside and around the Oratory is interesting, might you wish to enjoy a sunset and the breeze from the balcony terraces or a stroll on the Chemin de la croix (Way of sorrows), and for sure don’t miss the original chapel the Saint build and lived in before the might of the Oratory was just barely a thought. May peace be conferred upon you all, and cheers!
Stephan O — Google review
We didn’t know what to expect when people told us about this church - impressive. Another example of what humans can do together. Is a must when you visit Montreal, with an impressive architecture and presence. The church is modern inside and I liked the light passing the windows. Allocate around 90 min to visit all floors and enjoy the spiritual moment and the view

Saint Joseph's Oratory of Mount Royal is a breathtaking landmark that blends spiritual serenity with architectural grandeur. Perched on Mount Royal, it offers sweeping views of Montreal and a peaceful atmosphere that invites reflection and prayer. The basilica’s stunning domed structure, beautiful gardens, and candle-lit votive chapel make it a truly inspiring place to visit. Whether for faith, history, or simple tranquility, Saint-Joseph du Mont-Royal leaves a lasting impression on every visitor.
JINS L — Google review
The Saint Joseph's Oratory of Mount Royal (L'Oratoire Saint-Joseph-du-Mont-Royal) is an extremely prominent and impressive religious landmark, making it one of the most important tourist attractions in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is Canada's largest church and a National Shrine. The church features one of the world's largest church domes, rising 97 meters (from the basilica floor) and standing as the highest point in Montreal. The shrine was founded in 1904 by Saint André Bessette (or Brother André)—a member of the Congregation of the Holy Cross. Brother André started the sanctuary with a small wooden chapel. Thanks to his reputation for healing (which he always attributed to Saint Joseph), the site attracted huge numbers of pilgrims. The large complex seen today began construction in 1922 and was completed in 1967.
Nhu N — Google review
Its nice to learn about religion, how it held societies in the past and the society today. As an atheist, it was also nice to learn about how things worked especially with 1 ex catholic, they had holy water scattered around the place, and one church area had seats where you could kneel on the back of the other seat and pray. It was also neat to see other Christian people pray as I have never seen that before. It has a nice view where you can see the city. Amazing building too. It is truly incredible how dedicated people are to making a place of worship. I suggest visiting for everyone.

Market
Jean Talon Market is a must-visit culinary paradise located in the Villeray neighborhood. It is one of the largest open-air markets in North America, offering a wide variety of products such as produce, meats, cheeses, fish, and baked goods. The market features year-round stores including a gigantic cheese store, a meat shop, and a place to get Quebecoise beer and preserves.
In Montreal, the two most popular markets are Atwater and Jean-Talon. I chose Jean-Talon because it’s larger and known for having more farmers and produce vendors. The market is very easy to reach — just take the orange metro line to Jean-Talon station, and from there it’s an easy five-minute walk. While the market is open-air, most of the produce stalls are covered under a large roof, with additional shops, plant stores, and small restaurants lining the perimeter. You’ll find a colorful variety of seasonal produce — corn on the cob, berries like strawberries and blueberries, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, peaches, and apples. There are also a few seafood stands offering items like fried fish and oysters, adding even more variety. I visited on a weekend, since I’d read there are more vendors and livelier crowds, but even on a sunny Sunday it didn’t feel overwhelming. The traffic flowed well, and it was easy to browse at a relaxed pace. What I enjoyed most was simply walking around, admiring the beautiful displays of produce, and chatting with the friendly vendors. Jean-Talon Market is more than just a place to shop — it’s a slice of Montreal’s culture. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city.

This market, located in Little Italy, was fantastic. Everything is incredibly fresh and locally sourced. You can find a wide variety of products, including meat, cheese, seafood, fruits, and vegetables. There are also ready-to-eat food options, which are perfect if you’re hungry while exploring. As a traveler, you can also pick up some unique souvenirs. I saw handmade soap and local honey which are great items to bring back home. I tried the gelato, and it was delicious! I’m already looking forward to coming back and trying another flavor next time.

Beautiful fresh produce and local maple syrup, etc! Really nice place for a stroll and to pick up some fresh vegetables. Being from out of town, we were unable to stock the fridge but 100% would love if this was somewhere we could shop daily or weekly. We were able to pick up some maple cookies, syrup and other treats for the family. Everything looked very fresh and everyone was very friendly for service.

A Vibrant Feast for the Senses – Montreal’s Must-Visit Market! If you’re looking for a true taste of Montreal, Marché Jean-Talon is the place to be! This iconic farmers market is more than just a spot to grab groceries—it’s a lively, colorful experience that captures the heart of the city. From the moment you step in, you’re greeted with the freshest local produce: crisp vegetables, ripe fruits, artisanal cheeses, and fragrant herbs. But that’s just the beginning! You’ll also find charming souvenir stalls, stunning bouquets of fresh-cut flowers, and irresistible bakeries that fill the air with the smell of freshly baked bread and pastries. The market is surprisingly spacious, so take your time—I easily spent a whole afternoon wandering through the aisles, chatting with friendly vendors, and soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. Don’t leave without stopping by the crêpe stand for a sweet or savory treat. It’s the perfect break during your exploration! Whether you’re a local doing your weekly shopping or a visitor looking for an authentic Montreal experience, Marché Jean-Talon offers something for everyone. I can’t wait to go back!
Daniel Z — Google review
We visited Marche Jean Talon on a Monday morning during our Montreal-Quebec city summer vacation. From the variety of shops, to the quality of produce, it absolutely blew us away! Can’t believe it’s open all day every day; wish we had anything close to this in our neighborhood. Street parking was easy to find on a weekday morning, and the market was pretty quiet when we arrived just before 10 AM. We split a rocket, goat cheese, walnut panini on ciabatta, which was delicious. I also tried a few cheeses at the extensive cheese shop, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I could have spent hours at the marketing roaming, admiring all the vibrant, fresh produce, and watching local artists sketch and paint the floral section — which is stunning. It was a great place to buy souvenirs and trip gifts from local vendors. If only we had time to come back to Marche Jean Talon multiple days on our trip. Highly recommend!

Marche Jean-Talon — Fall Magic in Montreal 🍂🎃 If you’re looking for a true autumn experience in Montreal, Marché Jean-Talon is unbeatable. The market is alive with color right now — brilliant pumpkins stacked high, vibrant mums and fall flowers everywhere, cozy stalls lined with apples, squash, and seasonal produce. The air smells like crisp leaves and fresh baked bread, and every corner feels festive. And… YES… things are a little pricey compared to your local supermarket… c’est la vie! I loved walking past the playful skeletons, artful fall displays, and stands overflowing with everything you could wish for this season — from warm cider and maple treats to baskets of gourds in every shade. It’s the perfect spot to soak in Montreal’s autumn charm, grab a few seasonal treasures, and snap some photos that feel like pure fall. 🍎🌻🍁

Marche Jean-Talon is food heaven! Get your freshest raw food here. 🍎🍑🍊🍋🍅🫐🥦🥬🌶🧅🥬🧀🥩🍗🥧🧁 Besides at least 10 produce stands selling the freshest fruits, vegetables, herbs, and juices, there are nearly as many butcheries. Need seafood? ✅️ Cheese, olives, baked goods? ✅️ Great selection at reasonable prices.

Museums
Nestled in the heart of Montreal, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts stands as a testament to artistic expression and cultural heritage. Established in 1860, it proudly holds the title of Canada’s oldest art museum and is a prominent institution in North America. The museum boasts an impressive collection that spans over 41,000 pieces from various eras and regions, showcasing everything from ancient artifacts to contemporary masterpieces.
If you’re under 25, you get in for free! I only discovered this a month before my birthday—better late than never, right? Maybe someone else will appreciate the heads-up 🤭 One thing I love about this museum is how many quiet corners there are where you can soak in the city views. I come here not just for the art, but to let it inspire me — along with the beautiful panoramas. There’s something about this place that feeds both the mind and the soul.
Анна К — Google review
The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA) is a truly wonderful experience and easily one of the best places to spend a full day in the city. Since it’s spread across five pavilions, it feels massive without being overwhelming, offering something for every taste—from Canadian masterworks to international contemporary pieces, plus stunning decorative arts. The entire complex is beautiful, blending historic Beaux-Arts architecture with sleek modern extensions, and the collection is so diverse you can dive deep into anything from Rodin to Inuit art. You could easily lose three to four hours wandering through the themed pavilions, finding quiet corners to enjoy the amazing curation. It's an inspiring and enriching way to spend your time in Montreal!

Extensive and varied collection across two main buildings connected by underground passageway. Current featured exhibit by Kent Monkman is a must-see. Expensive admission ($31) but no extra charge for special exhibits. Good accessibility. Highly recommended.

Impressive museum. A wide range of interesting exhibits. We went with 5-year-old kids - there was a nice play area, and also a Fimo crafting area. But even the kids were impressed by the exhibits themselves. On the left at the entrance, there's a free bag and coat check service. We parked nearby in a street with a meter."
Yo S — Google review
The museum is absolutely stunning. The architecture alone is worth the visit - the buildings are beautiful, blending historic charm with modern design. The collections are diverse and thoughtful curated with something for everyone. It’s a place where you can easily spend hours exploring. Definitely a must see if you’re in Montreal - whether you’re an art lover or just looking for a meaningful and inspiring experience.

On the first Sunday of every month, admission is free. Online booking allows for quick entry. Most of the exhibits are from collectors' collections, with rich content but themes that are not very unified. When I went, I saw works by Picasso, Monet, Miró, Rodin, and others, but not many. The museum's architecture and scenery are beautiful.

We visited the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts while on a girls trip and highly recommend adding it to your itinerary! We loved the exhibits and the art was beautiful. It was a wonderful way to spend the morning in Montreal.

This is a very huge gallery where you can spend almost the entire day. You can move from floor to floor and from room to room. Another great bonus is that admission is free for visitors up to 25 years old (inclusive).

Parc Jean-Drapeau is a sprawling park located on two islands, Ile Sainte-Helene and Ile Notre-Dame, in the heart of the St. Lawrence River in Montreal. The park has a rich history dating back to the 1967 International and Universal Exposition, also known as Expo 67. This event left behind numerous attractions and landmarks that continue to draw visitors today.
This park is AWESOME! When you leave the station, there’s the main area where the globe is located. This area has well-maintained washrooms, a restaurant, a nice sculpture, and also a scooter station. I highly recommend you download the “Lime” app to rent a scooter. I explored part of the park by riding it around and it was super fun! I also recommend you put your gloves on if you’re riding a scooter during the fall/winter season as the wind will certainly make your hands uncomfortable. Apart from the main area, the park has also a beautiful path alongside the lake which is incredible! This path has some benches facing the lake making it the perfect place to relax while admiring the beautiful view. After exploring this side of the park, you can walk to the opposite side of it, crossing the bridge. Keep walking and cross the Formula 1 Circuit (Circuit Gilles Villeneuve) and you’ll be able to enjoy another beautiful path in nature. While strolling around this area I kept wondering how nice it must look in summer/ early fall/ winter (with snow). Anyway, I highly recommend it and I am already looking forward to going back!

It's easily accessible to public transportation metro/bus. You will find the beautiful scenery ✨️ colorful trees (sep/oct) and an old fort/Minar. Walking through the forest is amazing 👏 You must plan at least 6 hrs to spend over there to covering the entire park.

One of the most beautiful park located in the heart of the city. Easily accessible via metro and bus routes. There are several cool activities during the summer as well as in winter for everyone. Huge picnic area with tables. Cityscape also looks great from there and amazing place for the nature walk and photography.

It's such a beautiful place. There's so much to see. The flowers are beautiful. There's also this enormous blue chair that's really cool. I simply went there to enjoy the clamness of the afternoon and had no idea a that the Biosphere Museum was near by. I was pleasantly surprised. I absolutely enjoyed going there and intend to go back soon.

A nice place to spend your weekend and have a picnic. It's in the yellow line. Not far from the downtown, and literally on the opposite side of the old port. A great place to spend quiet afternoons with your partner. The biodome is also an attraction if one visits with family.

A very big and beautiful park with great views of the city and harbour. They've been making many renovations to update the park's infrastructure, buildings, and landscape features. I definitely recommend coming here during the weekdays when it's quiet to explore the many trails and gardens.

The Montreal Biodome, originally a velodrome built for the 1976 Summer Olympics, has been transformed into an engaging indoor nature exhibit. Opened in 1992, it now houses replicas of four ecosystems: The Tropical Forest, the Laurentian Forest, the Saint-Lawrence Marine Ecosystem and the Sub-Polar Region. With over 4,000 animals to observe, visitors can easily spend a full day exploring this unique attraction.
Visiting the Montréal Biodôme was such a beautiful experience. Each section feels like stepping into a completely different world — the warm tropical forest, the calm Laurentian maple forest, and the icy penguin area were all amazing in their own way. The transitions between ecosystems are smooth and magical. I also loved how close you can get to the animals without any barriers — it feels natural, not like a zoo. ✅ Pros: Unique concept, clean and well-maintained, great for families and couples, amazing for photos. ❌ Cons: A bit crowded on weekends, and tickets could be cheaper. Inside cafeteria is bit pricey and the food options are limited. Better to bring some food. Parking is a big issue too.. Still, totally worth visiting — it’s one of those Montréal spots you can enjoy no matter the season.
Faria J — Google review
We all loved it, from preschoolers to elderly. We spent the whole day (9am to 5pm). Reading reviews, it seems the site had aged and wasn’t as complete- but take the time to get a program to consult feeding times to ensure you’re not missing them. Feedings are also accompanied by an animator to explain the life of the animals. There are also pop up « touch » stations to learn more (eg feel a beaver tail, see the paws, etc). The top floor has games and interactive stations focused on « behind the scenes »; kids loved it. The basement also has a large discovery area explaining taxidermy, discovering animals sounds and skeletons, immersing in virtual whale encounter, use of microscopes, etc. The boutique/ souvenir shop (which can be visited without biodome access) has an amazing selection of gifts for kids and adults, ideal for souvenir gifts. A big shoutout to all the animators working around the site and answering all questions! We will be back!
Allanah — Google review
The Montréal Biodôme is truly like a walk in nature - as advertised! The exhibits are open and spacious so when it's quite busy, you still have lots of room to move about, which is great. There is quite the variety of animals to see here; monkeys, parrots, penguins, sturgeon, beavers, raccoons, otters, lynx, and much more! The layout of the tropical rainforest exhibit is nice but it's kind of confusing. Make sure you examine the map on the brochure before you leave the exhibit you're in; you can always go back, but my partner and I took an alternative exit to the next exhibit, which caused us to overlook the capybaras, sloths, spoonbills, and frogs. I was disappointed to find out afterward; however, if you do miss it and realize so, you shouldn't have a problem re-entering. The animals have some beautiful space to roam and inhabit. It makes me happy to know as much as they are thriving as best they can where they are. The Biodôme also lists feeding times which gives you a better chance to see some of the animals. We didn't follow the feeding schedules and still managed to see almost all the animals that dwelled in each exhibit, so it shouldn't be a deal-breaker if you visit during the less eventful times. The staff here are great to speak to. Everyone is so friendly and you get a true grasp at how many of them care for these animals and enjoy their positions at the Biodôme. We spent about an hour and a half strolling through all the exhibits, but we easily could have stayed longer if we didn't have other things on our itinerary. I would recommend allowing for extra time to take it a little slower and get the best experience you can with all the animals and exhibits. If you need to arrange an Uber, it can be difficult to get a pickup near the entrance, so pre-plan if you need extra time to get somewhere else. This is a wonderful place, and I can't wait to head back!

We absolutely loved the Montréal Biodome. It was one of the highlights of our visit. The way they’ve recreated different ecosystems under one roof is really impressive — you get to walk through tropical rainforests, polar zones, and more, all in one visit. It’s fascinating to see the animals and birds moving around so freely in their natural-style habitats. We honestly wish we had more time to spend here because there’s so much to see and take in. It’s a great spot for families, couples, or anyone who enjoys nature and wildlife. Everything is clean, well maintained, and easy to explore. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Montréal. If you can, plan to spend a few hours here, it’s worth every minute.
NJ C — Google review
What an awesome experience, staff is polite speaks, english and French. They teach you things about the animals and the habitat. There are lockers downstairs. If you want to take off your jacket. Unfortunately, we didn't know that and we were very hot in the rain forest. Overall a great experience. There are also other attractions to see. Planetarium is right beside it.

What a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours touring four unique ecosystems. Over 200 animal species. From capybaras, caimans and tamarins to lynx, otters, beavers, and raccoons. I absolutely loved the penguins 🐧. I could have watched them for hours. The Northern Rockhopper penguins are a joy to watch! I highly recommend you go to the Montreal Biodome. It is for children and adults alike.
Liisa S — Google review
My visit to the Montréal Biodôme proved to be an enjoyable experience! It was fascinating to move between polar and tropical sections and to see the many animals including penguins and parrots. Entry price was very reasonable and they had a nice gift shop at the end too. I visited during a metro strike so it was a bit more challenging to get to but with Uber it was still easy enough. Definitely worth a visit!
Cameron — Google review
Being up close to the animals (most of which are not even in an enclosure!) was a special treat. I particularly enjoyed the tamarins and the penguins. The habitats are nicely laid out and very immersive, you get a sense for how these animals truly live in the wild.

La Ronde is Canada's second largest amusement park, located on Ile Sainte-Helene near downtown Montreal. Originally built as an entertainment complex for Expo 67, it now features a variety of roller coasters, thrill rides, and family attractions. The park hosts the International des Feux Loto-Quebec, an international fireworks competition with pyromusical shows competing for medals. During Halloween, La Ronde offers haunted houses and costumed performers.
It's prettier than the last time i was there 10 years ago. I believe that there are more rides, this time. Indeed the best and the grandest amusement park in all of Quebec 😍
Marco — Google review
Very kid friendly. Great themed areas for the kids sections: bugs, pirates and dinosaurs...how could you go wrong with that? Easy to get around the park. Mist being blown over you when lining up for many of the rides to keep patrons cool. Lots of rides were removed and nothing replaced them. Easy to do the entire park in a day (we went on a Friday). Finding the parking lot was a pain, but once you find it, it is close to the entrance. For a theme park the food options were surprisingly good. More of a focus on family friendly vs big coasters. Vampire was awesome!

Wonderful park attraction. The roller coasters offer thrilling experiences. For anyone seeking the ultimate rush, Goliat and Titan provide incredible sensations. Overall, the park is a great place to spend an awesome time
Maher H — Google review
DO NOT PAY FOR PLATINUM, it is a waste of money. Half of the rides were of our defective. The place is not even 1/3 full in the middle of school vacation, I cannot imagine how empty this is on regular days. Very desorganized too. Of course, everything to drink and eat is extremely overpriced too. On the bright side, sobre rides still cool such as "Monster" the wood Roller coaster. The Best ride for sure.
Tiago K — Google review
July 2025. My family (not me) had fun going on all the roller coasters. Lines weren't too bad on a weekday (except for the toboggan nordique, that was a waste of time). A day may not be enough to get on everything (minus the kiddie rides)
Patrick V — Google review
This is one of the smaller theme parks I've seen. It is well spaced but there is a lack of shade so make sure to bring sunscreen or go on a day that isn't too hot. I went on a day that was 35+, BIG mistake. there is no shade to wait in for some of the rides we went on and the seats get hot fast. There were almost no lines which was great! My favorite ride was the Dragon, an indoor coaster which is suitable for most ages and tastefully outdated. The workers here are really helpful and nice! be aware that most of the food stalls and game stalls do not open for a few hours after the park does. Some of the rides I wanted to go on did not open the whole 4 hours I was there (such as Demon and the carousel). While the park is small ish, it is still worth going to at least once. Their candy shoppe has a lot of unique options like shaving foam sour candy and gigantic pixie sticks! The dino parc is small but cute! I loved the animatronic dinos!
Keiko — Google review
Some rides were closed and food variety wasn’t the best, but the excitement of the park made up for it! 🎠 Ended the day with sore feet, big smiles, and lots of fun.
Aarohi D — Google review
We went for the fireworks and since we were there to enjoy the rides too. Honestly rides weren’t as good as I thought, a lot of hitting in my head as I ride the roller coasters and also a few times I felt uncomfortable due to the way the security was holding me to the chair with my stuff and told the employees and they didn’t help me. Everyone was in a hurry, and I get it. But the vip lines?? I waited for +30min to get to a ride, finally get my turn and when I was just about to sit a large group of boys ran to all the sits available and had to wait more, they didn’t even wait. I understand that vip means no wait in line but can you at least control they don’t run?? Whatever. Three starts go for the view that was pretty, but wouldn’t come back. I go to amusement parks often but this one got me sick over the hits in my head and bad stability while riding.

Mount Royal Park is a vast green space that offers a variety of attractions. It features scenic trails, a picturesque lake with boat rentals, and stunning panoramic views of the city. The park spans 185 acres and is larger than the Montreal Botanical Garden, housing an impressive collection of over 22,000 plant species and cultivars organized into thematic gardens and exhibition greenhouses.
Snow tubing at Mount Royal near Beaver Lake is an exhilarating adventure that guarantees a day packed with fun and thrills! As you race down the snowy slopes, the adrenaline rush and contagious laughter make it an experience to remember. With well-maintained runs, the activity is perfect for all ages—adventurous enough for thrill-seekers but safe and enjoyable for kids and families too. Beyond the slopes, the venue offers even more winter excitement with ice skating and skiing, and rentals are conveniently available. After working up an appetite, the on-site cafeteria is the perfect spot to refuel with delicious sandwiches, fresh bagels, and steaming hot coffee, adding a cozy touch to your adventurous day. The scenic beauty of Mount Royal in winter, combined with the reasonable prices, makes this an unbeatable choice for a day of outdoor fun. Highly recommended for anyone looking to make the most of the season!

Absolutely stunning! The park is beautiful and has such a peaceful, relaxing vibe. It’s the perfect spot to read a book, enjoy a picnic, or simply take a walk and soak in the natural surroundings. I highly recommend it! Update: I visited today (December 21) and it was beyond gorgeous! The park was blanketed in snow, creating a true winter wonderland. There’s an ice skating rink with an incredible view of the frozen lake right in front of it. There’s also a cozy building with a restaurant on the second floor, perfect for grabbing a snack or hot drink during your skating break. On the first floor, you’ll find lockers for your things and a small shop where you can rent skates. Plus, there’s a great spot near the rink for tobogganing, and it’s totally free (bring your own toboggan though). I can’t recommend this place enough, no matter the season!

Took my dog out for a walk and we were searching for a patch of grass in Montreal downtown and ended up on top of Mount Royal. It was so beautiful. Totally an unplanned hike. Thankfully carried my dog’s water bottle as always. Please carry a bottle of water if you plan to hike this. We went up via the hiking trail pathway and came down via the steps. I think that would be the easiest way to do as you might get tired going all the way up, checking all the points and then you simply have to come down via the steps. Thanks to Google map, I was able to check out every noteworthy view point on top of the mountain. I heard there is one more side to it. Perhaps, another time. Overall it was very clean and gorgeous and Montreal is lucky to have this downtown! I mean those who live there could jog here or hike everyday! There seemed to be a place on top with coffee shop and restrooms but I believe they didn’t allow dogs so we couldn’t enter. Wish Montreal as such was more dog friendly.

A great hike and a wonderful lookout! I’m not sure if I went to a different part but everyone is talking about stairs in the reviews and I didn’t encounter a single one to get to the lookout located at the chalet on the map. It’s stunning and feels like you’re far away from the city on the trail. The park is beautiful and has some cool sculptures.

Really pretty in the winter, snow covered and all! Seems to be an incredibly popular spot for families. It was around -10° when I visited, but the park was packed with families skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, etc. Fun for all ages! I did try snow tubing, but after climbing up the steps, I was absolutely exhausted. I did fall off the tube once, and the gentleman overseeing the lanes was an absolute gentleman. He helped me up and got me out safely and quickly - in multiple languages. Would love to come back to explore some more, in a time crunch, I was only able to see a couple of landmarks.

Our visit to Mount Royal Park was nothing short of spectacular! From the moment we started our walk up the mountain, we were captivated by the natural beauty surrounding us. It took just about 5-10 minutes to reach the scenic overlook, and the panoramic view of the entire city was absolutely breathtaking—definitely worth the short hike. After soaking in the views, we continued our adventure to the lake on the opposite side of the mountain, which was another pleasant 10-15 minute walk. The lush greenery and peaceful atmosphere made the journey enjoyable. Once we reached the lake, we decided to rent a paddle boat, which was such a fun and relaxing experience. For just 22 CAD, we spent a delightful 30 minutes on the water, enjoying the serene environment and the company of each other. The entire experience was both beautiful and refreshing, offering a perfect blend of nature and recreation. Whether you’re looking to take in stunning city views, enjoy a peaceful walk, or have some fun on the water, Mount Royal Park is the place to be. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Montreal!

Nice to visit the site where the 1976 summer Olympic’s took place. There is a guided tour, but we didn’t take it. We went inside the building where all the swimming events took place. You can sit in the stands and watch whatever swimming or diving activities are taking place. It’s a 20-30 minute drive from downtown Montreal and we spent 1.5 hours walking around the site. Paid parking is available onsite and there’s only a daily rate. Although there’s not a whole lot to do there, I’m glad I visited this historic Canadian site.

Lachine Canal, located in Montreal, is an eight-mile waterway that offers a glimpse into the city's industrial past. Initially opened in 1825 to bypass the hazardous Lachine Falls, it features five locks and was once lined with small factories. Over time, the area experienced a decline but has since been revitalized as a meeting point between urban life and nature. The canal provides visitors with an opportunity to explore Montreal's history while enjoying its scenic surroundings.
I very much enjoy walking along this canal here in Montreal. You could spend the whole day here because it’s obviously quite long and very scenic with lots of nice pit stops along the way. Lots of little green spaces and walkways to cross over to the other side. The best pit stop is the Saint Ambroise Terrace which is a fun place to have a pint or lunch. It’s never boring. 👍😎

I had a spectacular 7 mile run through the Lachine canal to Parc Gadbois from downtown Montreal. There are no water fountains or bathrooms along the northern side of the canal. You can stop at Atwater market to refuel or perhaps have a bathroom break. I'd love to go back and run for a longer distance further down the canal.

A pretty place to spend a relaxing morning or afternoon. My family and I rented the Bixi bikes for one hour ($1.55 to unlock + about $0.20/minute for each bike) and then sat by the water for a picnic. Château Ramezay - Musée et site historique de Montréal is a historical gem that was originally the personal residence of Montreal's then-governor Claude de Ramezay. It is now the oldest private historical museum in Quebec, showcasing permanent and seasonal exhibitions that highlight Montreal's rich history.
Château Ramezy is a historical site and museum. It is right across the street from city hall, which is an amazing building! From the outside, it looks rather small, but it has a lower floor, and it is actually quite vast. Filled with all types of exhibitions detailing the history of Montréal there is an immense amount of paintings, informational placards, and fascinating artifacts to wade through. Along with all of that are audio booths that offer 5 or 6 languages of various subjects that really bring the historical stories to life. For your convenience, they also offer a coat room so that you can leisurely walk through the warm, cozy rooms unabated. I thought the exhibits were well done and I would highly recommend visiting this museum.

Unexpected place to visit. You can visit or not. Bought tickets there. Here you'll learn about Montréal's early history and what the first house of the governor looks like. The garden at the back is free to visit.
Greggy C — Google review
We stopped into this unassuming museum and were rather impressed by the amount of information and artifacts on display. Covering the 500 years of history of Montréal, Château Ramezay offered learning opportunities for adults and hands on activities for children to understand what early life in the city would have been like. It even had a little garden outback with the various types of crops they would have grown! The museum had information in multiple languages, not just French and English. Highly recommend popping by if you're at all interested in history.
Krystin 1 — Google review
An interesting history of Montréal told through artifacts focusing on the château's own story. The displays cover two floors. although I didn't make it to the last third in the basement. Sadly, some of the detailed bilingual display captions used outdated terms for the First Nations.

This place is incredible! I had no idea of the history of the house or this particular governor. The style is so French with the tiny windows on the roof. Points of Interest & Landmarks
Located in the heart of Old Port, La Grande Roue de Montreal is a modern engineering marvel that offers breathtaking 360° views of Montreal and the St. Lawrence River from its towering height of 60 meters. As the tallest Ferris wheel in Canada, it illuminates the night sky with vibrant colors, creating a stunning spectacle against the evening backdrop. Visitors can capture its reflection in the water at twilight or take long exposure shots to capture its motion against Montreal's illuminated skyline.
We opted for the VIP experience (CAD 80) and it was absolutely fantastic. Very romantic and memorable! We connected to the Bluetooth speaker to play our own music, which made the ride even more magical—especially at night with the city all lit up. The views were stunning, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Highly recommend for couples or anyone looking for a special experience in Montreal.
Fabianna B — Google review
We really enjoyed the ride. Beautiful sunset views of the city. Recommend buying tickets online prior to going, especially on weekends. You get about three rotations for the price. Would definitely recommend going at night!
Cindy W — Google review
We visited the Ferris wheel on a hot summer day, and I was very impressed that the cabins had air conditioning. This was a big plus, as we thought it would be stuffy inside, but instead it was cozy and comfortable. Each cabin can fit up to eight people, making it a perfect activity for families, especially if you’ve already explored the main attractions and want to see Montreal from a bird’s-eye view. The beauty of the city is hard to describe in words, but from the wheel you can enjoy it in comfort and safety. The ticket includes three rotations, air conditioning, and a stunning view. The price felt a bit high, but for the comfort and convenience it’s worth it, and there are student discounts available. Would I come back? Absolutely — it’s a wonderful way to admire Montreal again. Pros: comfort, cleanliness, convenience. Cons: the price is a little high.

My wife and I had such a great time at La Grande Roue de Montréal. We love travelling and have been on many Ferris wheels around the world, but this one was definitely one of the nice experiences. It gives you an amazing view of downtown Montreal, the Old Port, and even across the river, especially if you go around sunset or at night when the city lights up. The ride lasts about 15 minutes and makes around 4–5 full spins, which feels just right not too short, not too long. The best part is that you get the entire cabin to yourself, so you don’t have to share with anyone else. It feels private and comfortable, and the cabins are clean, air-conditioned, and spacious. The only downside was the wait time. It took quite a while before we could get on, and the line moved slowly even though we went on a weekday. It would definitely help if they had a better system for managing the queue. Still, once you’re up there, the view makes it all worth it. It’s peaceful, romantic, and a great way to see Montreal from a new angle.
NJ C — Google review
Large Ferris wheels are always an attraction wherever in the world and Montreal’s grande roue came to fill that desire. The ticket (definitely steep price, especially for family!) offers three rotations, expect approx 20 min in the attraction. Experience can last longer if purchasing a coffee or ice cream after at their coffee shop/ restaurant or getting professional pictures, etc. We went on a fall weekday and there was no line and we had our own cabine - worth it compared to sharing the cabin (or paying extra to privatise) in summer. Check lines. The clear sky was a bonus- check weather forecast. Is it the best attraction in Old Port? Probably not. The ratio of cost per minute is quite high. But it remains an incontournable. At the price paid, the Grande roue could endeavour to provide a laminated map to help spotting the Oratoire St-Joseph, Marché Bonsecours, or the O.G. grande roue from La Ronde… just an idea!
Allanah — Google review
There are some terrific views to take in at La Grande Roue! Given that we went with Christmas on the horizon, I cannot attest to how the summer trips are, but it was absolutely beautiful. This is something to completely immerse you in a Christmas state of mind this time of year. The tree, the music, the light snowfall - it was all like something out of one of those cheesy hallmark movies, but in the best way. I was a little disappointed that the tree wasn't lit up. I had booked a time slot for 10:30 at night, so it may have been shut down. The cafe was also closed, so if you want to take in the full experience, make sure you book an earlier time slot. I will say, it was very quiet and peaceful when we did go, which is probably the tradeoff for going at one of the last possible times. The staff were excellent as well. We rented a private coach and the man operating the wheel made sure we had gotten what we ordered, even though there was noone there. We even spent more time on the wheel than what is normal, so that was much appreciated. We could have easily spent half the money and went on a public coach and still had it all to ourselves, but the private coach for four was worth it. You can connect your phone once inside and play whatever you'd like; you're completely closed off from the rest of the world and it just offers up a moment that feels very special. I cannot wait to visit the city again and take in La Grande Roue! It was excellent from start to finish.
Benjamin S — Google review
The prices are okay (for it being the tallest ferris wheel in Canada). You get some discount if you are a student which is nice. There is a coffee shop and I love Montreal sign next to the ferris wheel. We got our own private cabin as it was not busy, otherwise you have to share a cabin. Inside the cabin, it has bluetooth option as wel, I assume that you can connect your phone and listen to songs but we didn’t use it. The ferris wheel goes 3 times and might stop when you are the top, so don’t worry! Recommendation- Go on a clear day, we had limited time so had to go on a gloomy/fall day. The views were still nice as the fall colors look pretty nice in Montreal but due to the weather there was a lack of visibility.
Jasleen K — Google review
Very nice views from the top. Everyone gets three rounds on it for about 30 mins. The whole area is great with several kid friendly activities. There are paddle boats, zip line, shops and a nice kids play area.

The Biosphere, Environment Museum is housed in a distinctive geodesic dome originally built as the United States pavilion for Expo 67. After a fire in the 1970s, it was transformed into the museum it is today. The museum features interactive exhibits and activities focused on environmental issues, aiming to raise awareness about humanity's impact on the environment. Visitors of all ages can enjoy hands-on displays and educational materials that promote critical thinking and environmental consciousness.
Showed up to close to closing time to really see it all in-depth. Would like to go back. Give it at least two hours to actually give the exhibits all their proper due. The two free exhibits near the entrance are a good 20+ minutes alone. The 360 rooftop view is amazing.

The Biosphere in Parc Jean-Drapeau is a must-visit—both for its stunning geodesic dome (originally built for Expo 67) and its inspiring focus on the environment. The exhibits are interactive and easy to grasp, covering climate change, water, and sustainability in a way that’s great for all ages. The museum isn’t huge, but it’s beautifully curated, and the peaceful surroundings and panoramic views of the city and St. Lawrence River make the visit extra special. A perfect spot for families, tourists, or anyone curious about our planet’s future
Sunmeet D — Google review
The illustrations, animations, and models are really beautiful. Since I came with kids, I couldn’t focus too much on the details, but it was still enjoyable. The building has five floors, with an observation deck on the top. One floor is for administration, another was under renovation, and there’s also a small insect theater. The collection isn’t very large, but it’s a nice place to visit with children.
Crystal Y — Google review
Even though the Biosphère was temporarily closed for renovations during my visit, I still had the chance to appreciate its stunning exterior. The geodesic dome is simply magnificent! It stands out beautifully against the park’s green spaces and the Saint Lawrence River, making for an iconic Montreal landmark. The architectural design is truly a sight to behold, and it’s clear why this structure remains such an important part of the city’s history. I can’t wait to return when the exhibits are open to explore the environmental themes and learn more about sustainability in this incredible setting.
Charles M — Google review
It's always good to have tickets in advance. The Biosphère should be no exception; it doesn't seem overly busy on weekdays but if you don't have tickets and their exhibits reach capacity, you won't be able to go in at certain times of day. The exhibits are beautiful. Each of them have their own purpose and theme, but all are very well done - informative and captivating. We slotted out a couple hours in the afternoon for our visit, and the only regret I have is not allowing more time to take everything in. It was a very emotional experience that provided a lot of information on climate change; climate injustices throughout impoverished countries, combating climate change, climate anxiety and stressors, and innovations for a greener world. This entire tour takes you on a journey, while all of it is informative. The staff here were excellent to talk to. They made the entire experience very pleasant. Due to the construction and timing of the season, it was very quiet. It's the perfect time to visit if you prefer less crowds as it gives you lots of peace to think and focus on what you're absorbing. Annick was excellent to speak with as well. It was the opening day of the ÉmoLab, and she took the time to rundown through some of the different sections of the exhibit. We had a very good conversation about climate anxiety and the things we can do as individuals and communities to turn the tide. We really appreciated her stopping to talk with us and show us around. You could easily spend two and a half to three hours here, and still likely need more time to take in every exhibit. It was a wonderful experience that I can't wait to revisit when back in Montréal. The gift shop also has some really nice items! The designs on their t-shirts, bags, and stickers are so unique and beautiful.
Benjamin S — Google review
A visit to this geodesic masterpiece has been on my Bucket List since it was build in 1967 - and it did not disappoint. I got there just before it undergoes a multi-million dollar renovation and it will be closed for a few months. There are ecology and bio-diversity exhibits inside, but my interest is the structure. Buckminster Fuller was the inventor of the geodesic dome.
Raymond H — Google review
The museum is very clean and nice. There are interactive exhibits for kids. Very kid friendly and educational. I recommend this place for a go to destination in Montreal. Also you need to pay for parking.
Elmer V — Google review
Definitely an interesting experience. There were lots of fascinating facts and experiments to try out personally. The architecture of the entire structure is phenomenal – it truly feels like a Bond villain could be sitting somewhere inside, plotting world domination. I also really appreciate the ecological aspects of the building and the exhibitions. Many ecological details are clearly explained, and a lot of the experiments focus on environmental topics as well.

Located on Notre Dame Island, Casino de Montréal is a contemporary gambling complex with stunning river views and a rich history. Originally built as the French Pavilion for Expo 67, the building's architecture pays homage to the naval heritage of the St. Lawrence River. Today, it offers an electrifying atmosphere with its grandeur and elegance, making it a popular spot for events like weddings and photography sessions.
An unforgettable night at Casino de Montréal! The ambience, architecture, and waterfront views were absolutely stunning — especially during the night. The entrance bridge lit up beautifully, and the overall vibe was vibrant yet classy. Even if you don’t play, it’s worth visiting just for the lights, the energy, and the scenic walk along the water. Highly recommended if you’re in Montreal!

My friend from Vancouver was joking with a joker — lol! Anyway, this place is amazing and relaxing, especially with their refreshing drinks and tasty treats. People should definitely come here often!

Nice décor. The weekends it's lively often with shows and such. Free drinks bar self serve (soft drinks, coffee). Booze is at the bar $ The arcade is meh, more expensive than elsewhere with a card and pt system. You can redeem pts for some cheapie toys or snacks. Not enough cheaper table or digital ones for stuff like blackjack where there is still a little bit of a social aspect of playing with other real people. Can get a little lost and confusing in there. There is also a place to buy food and a canteen.

Gorgeous casino. Truly a marvel to see. Tons of games. Tons of slots. My only gripes are that the only crabs table isn't a conventional crabs table. It's digitized. The other gripe is you don't get free drinks while gambling. It is definitely worth a visit if you are in Montreal though. Very cool!

A must see if you are in Montreal. I was slightly disappointed that the glass floors with water and fish swimming below us was completely removed ( that was 30 years ago). We still had a great time. Place is clean and is one of the nicer looking casinos I have been to. Tip: People wear comfortable clothes. I have seen jeans, T-shirts and running shoes although many people still like to dress up. Keep the place classy by dressing up if possible. 😉

With its location below the charming streets of Old Montreal along the St. Lawrence River, it is a popular destination for families. The museum's permanent exhibits allow children to engage with various scientific principles through interactive activities, making it an ideal spot for family outings.
Always a great experience at the Montreal Science Center. The kids have fun with the new exhibits and and the imax is always a winning formula. Plus you are in the old port so tons of restaurants around and it’s a very nice walk in the summer. Greatly recommended!

Happened to visit during a school field trip — three full school buses, so it was quite crowded! The museum has a large space with lots of fun science experiments to explore. Mini Mondo is great for little kids, with pretend stores and hands-on play. A wonderful place for children to learn and burn off some energy!

We have the ASTC passport and saw that this museum was on the list, so we decided to check it out. Met up with a couple friends to explore. Its great that as soon as you enter the hallway the interactive displays start up immediately. They have a few fun human related displays, included an audible fart, to get the kids excited and started. A lot of different audio and visual displays. Several displays that involves teaching different basic physics. A good mix between educational and some just fun displays. It can be pretty crowded, but for the most part it seemed like the kids and parents were doing really well at making sure to take turns. We had a great time.

Movie is good And not so very long. the place has many scientific things to do and it has been very good to have fun and enjoy the games. it’s just not that much of an issue to be able to watch and have some fun . Overall a very good place to visit with kids.

For the past 5 years We go there a few times a year. Recently they add one interactive room on native population. IT IS JUST GREAT. We can spend 1 hour just to find the hints. They really work hard to make each visit a very special one. If you want to go there and enjoy every activity, be aware that you'll need 3-4 hours. Science have no respect for time 😀😀 , so dont be in a rush or plan other activities after that. Enjoy !

Very complete, interactive and fun science center. Plan a full Day to truly enjoy the exhibits. There is so much to do, from experimenting with physics concepts, water movements, exploring the human body, discovering the True North and even testing inventions at the Fabrik. Bring a lunch (onsite option of a Van Houtte cafe). Mini Mundo for Little kids is well designed, but was overran by older kids at themoment of visiting. Would strongly recommend a staff member be assigned to reset the play area there. Expensive outing: family can expect 110$+tx for local résidents.
Allanah — Google review
The experience was okay, we paid $80 for 2 and as we had visited science world in vancouver, we thought it will be similar to that. Once we were at the front desk, the staff did informed us that it’s more of a hands on experience. We saw pictures from the reviews that there is a dinosaur exhibit but that was temporary and exhibits keep changing (it was our mistake and we should have asked about it before buying the tickets). The science centre tickets do not include the imax movie; you have to purchase a separate ticket. Though, there are certain sections which are enjoyable and are fun for sure! For kids, this place is great as one can easily spend hours here and gain knowledge. Even on a weekday it was very busy and there was a school trip as well so it can get crowded and you might have to wait in line for some certain things For me personally, I would ask what special exhibits are featuring before buying the tickets!

Nature & Parks
La Fontaine Park is a sprawling 84-acre green space located in the heart of Plateau Mont-Royal, Montreal. It offers a diverse range of activities for visitors, including walking trails, paddleboating and skating on its ponds, and sports courts for tennis and volleyball. The park features both English- and French-style landscaping, providing picturesque views and ample shade for leisurely strolls or picnics.
I’ve been to this park both summer and winter and here is what I think: In the summer, it’s the perfect spot for a walk or a picnic while soaking in the beautiful surroundings. The open spaces and peaceful atmosphere make it a great place to relax and unwind. In the winter, the lake transforms into a stunning ice-skating rink that stretches along the landscape. While I had a great time skating, I did notice that the rink’s condition wasn’t the best. There were branches and small holes in some areas, which made it a bit challenging to skate smoothly. I’m not sure if this was just an issue on the day I visited or if it’s a common thing, but it’s something to keep in mind. Despite that, I definitely plan to return! There’s also an additional rink near the lake that looked very cool and seemed to offer a smoother surface. One thing I really appreciated is the building nearby that has a restaurant, equipment rental, and free lockers to store your belongings. Just make sure to bring your own lock if you want to use the lockers. Overall, it’s a fantastic park in every season, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

Well where do I begin? 😂 I have visited many parks around Montreal and there are many. Just when you think that you’ve seen a nice park the next one is even better! I was enthralled with not so much the size but the plethora of various attractions and activities that you can choose from. They pretty much have it all though I didn’t see a basketball court. They have skateboarding, beach volleyball, skating in the winter, tennis and lots of space to have a picnic or just lounge with a lunch or coffee. The winding pond is so nice too! They also have this little obstacle course for the little kids to use their bikes on. The art centre building has washrooms for your convenience. All in all this is probably my favourite park that I have come across so far here in Montreal. But I thought that about other parks too. 😂👍😎

It's a very large park. A lot of paths to running and walking. In the center of the park, there is a beautiful lake 😍 . It's great to see the people running, cycling and resting here in the park. It has playgrounds and kids swings. Additionally, there is special area for kids cycling with track having the speed breakers. The trees are very large and makes the view amazing 👏. Bike stands is on the corner of the park. We spent around 2 hours and its was a great experience 😌

Some of my fondest memories have taken place at this wonderful green lung of Montreal. Ice-skating was especially memorable as a child. Today, plenty of walks and peaceful bench sitting as the world goes by is special on its own. The chalet restaurant is also a great meeting place. The Summer theatre is an event in itself. Parking is a little tough on weekends, however, weekdays are usually much easier.

This park is marvelous! It’s quite the spot in the summer - lots of people hanging out, picnicking, and enjoying the nice weather. It’s quite large and there’s lots of paths throughout to walk or run on. We just ended up here after going to dinner at a restaurant nearby, but we stumbled upon a free concert. Definitely check out the schedule and try to see a concert here - the outdoor venue is really quite lovely.

Gardens
Montreal Botanical Garden is a significant landmark and tourist attraction in Montreal, covering approximately 75 hectares. It is one of the largest botanical gardens globally and was designated as a national historical site in Canada in 2008. The garden features various themed areas such as the Alpine Park, Japanese Garden, Chinese Garden, and First Nations Park. With over 22,000 plant and animal species, it draws hundreds of thousands of visitors annually.
Jardin botanique de Montréal is a wonderful escape right in the middle of the city — it truly feels like stepping into nature without leaving Montreal. The gardens are beautifully maintained, with a mix of themed areas that are both relaxing and educational. Whether you’re strolling through lush greenery, admiring the flowers, or just sitting quietly by the water, it’s a peaceful retreat from the city rush. There’s also a small café on site with water and drink options, which comes in handy if you’re spending more time here. Plenty of parking space available, with a flat rate (we paid around CAD 14), but this place is also easily accessible via public transport. Depending on your stamina and interest, you can enjoy a quick one-hour visit or easily spend an entire day exploring. Overall, a must-see for anyone who loves nature, photography, or simply wants a calming break in a picturesque setting.

Had a bit of extra time one morning on a recent first visit to the wonderful city of Montreal. I discovered that it boasted a botanical garden (one of my favorite things since visiting Australia where every major city seems to have one); even though there was a modest fee for entering, I decided to take the short metro ride to visit. Great decision! Whether the Chinese Garden (probably the most impressive area), the Japanese Garden, or the Alpine Garden, or any of the gorgeous “generic” vistas in abundance there, beautiful nature, sometimes carefully arranged, other times not, washed over me like a cool breeze. I walked my legs off but the sore feet and legs at the end of the day were worth the effort. Such a lovely place that cannot be missed. And make sure you stop by the cafe there. Not pedestrian burgers and fries but well-crafted sandwiches and delicious soup among other choices. I had a lovely vegetable sandwich on focaccia and a cauliflower and beetroot soup which was heavenly. Plus you get a great view of the Olympic Stadium while you’re there. Go! You’ll thank me for it.

My wife and I visited the Jardin botanique de Montréal during our trip, and we absolutely loved it. The gardens are stunning, you can tell how much care and attention goes into maintaining the place. There’s so much to see, from colorful flower beds to themed gardens. The Chinese and Japanese gardens were the highlights for us, both are so peaceful and beautifully designed. Be prepared to do quite a bit of walking, though. The place is large, and it’s easy to lose track of time while exploring. We spent about half a day there but could have easily spent a full day if we weren’t on a tight schedule. Unfortunately, we missed the Garden of Lights in the evening, which I’ve heard is amazing. If you love nature, photography, or just want a relaxing day surrounded by greenery, this is a great place to visit. I’d actually recommend setting aside two days if you can, since there are other attractions nearby and it’s nice not to rush. Overall, a beautiful and peaceful experience that’s definitely worth it.

Visited in September and it was absolutely beautiful. The grounds are large enough that it’s hard to see everything in one visit. The water lilies and the bonsai exhibits were my favourite. The bonsais were between 16 to 150 years old!!! The restaurant was busy, but delicious, nutritious, and well priced. Will definitely be visiting again soon!

We got ticket to see Jardin des lumierd show and those tickets give us access during the day too. In one day we visit two times the Botanical garden. The garden is organized in different areas and you have Japanese garden, Chinese Garden , alpine garden etc. Great walk and great view - flowers , nature and nice design of the garden. You need around 2 hours to make the tour. For Night tour the show was excellent with lights , music and spectacular moments on Japanese garden and Chinese one. The lampions in Chinese garden are well designed and provide a deep dive on Chinese culture. If you can go for it - depending of season think about hot cloths for the night session.

Beautiful garden, amazing experience with the garden of lights exhibition. I was never much of a fan of botanical gardens but this one was absolutely magical and the whole area is just gorgeous, a great photo spot and a nice walk around with interesting exhibits. We can right around sundown, which was absolutely lovely and stayed until the lightshow started, then it got too crowded, hence I would recommend coming sooner, if possible.

What a BEAUTIFUL place! Natural settings abound here! Peaceful oasis in the city of Montreal! Words are not adequate to describe what this place holds. Try weekday visits if possible; also the botanical sculpture of Mother Nature is no longer present for a long time now..., years... so do not base your visit on that! Worthy to be placed on a trip itinerary for Montreal.

An extraordinary world class botanical garden including a series of interconnected greenhouses covering multiple sensitive zones and outdoor gardens sectioned into specialized gardens many with special features such as ponds, buildings, gazebos and arbours. My particular favorites included the indigenous garden, alpine, and medicinal and food gardens. Other cultural gardens such as China and Japan easily stand on their own and are worth exploring for hours at a time. Rather than rushing, plan two days to visit if possible, or return often. Also keep an eye open for the night displays of lights that occur on certain occasions. And take time to visit the vegetarian friendly restaurant on site. Easily accessible by public transit and ample parking on site.

Takeout Restaurant
Schwartz's Deli is a renowned and historic establishment, known for its huge sandwiches and smoked meats. It is one of the oldest delis in Canada and has become an institution in Montreal. The deli's atmosphere, with shared tables and neon lighting, adds to its unique charm, attracting long queues of both locals and tourists eager to savor its irresistible flavors.
First time visiting Schwartz’s Deli and it definitely lived up to the hype. The meat was incredible! We ordered the meat plate, two sandwiches, and a poutine. The smoked meat sandwich is a 100/10—absolutely worth it. The poutine was good too, but if that’s all you’re craving, I’d suggest trying another spot just for poutine. Portions are generous—you will not leave hungry. Prices are fair, and just a heads-up: the line builds up quickly, so plan ahead. The staff were professional and very polite. Even though we don’t speak French, they were patient and helped us easily. Overall, an excellent experience.

It's a deli famous for it's beef, and we got the beef! Pretty delicious and a great little delight where you get to meet some people as you'll be sandwiched in with some other travellers. A great experience and hits the exact mark you're expecting. We had a shwartz beef sandwich and a poutine with beef on top. Both excellent. The only critique would be the line up. While we expected a wait, the line was filled with / "I think this of what we're supposed to do". That being said, we all figured it out. Amazing sandwich from a famous and awesome deli!

I had an incredible experience at Schwartz’s Deli in Montreal. The smoked meat was simply outstanding — juicy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. You can really taste the tradition and quality in every bite. Their poutine was also amazing, with crispy fries, tasty gravy, and the right amount of cheese curds. The place has that authentic Montreal vibe, always busy but full of energy. The staff were friendly and quick, even with the long line. It’s no surprise that this place is a local favorite — definitely a must-visit for anyone coming to Montreal!
Ehsan S — Google review
If you're visiting Montreal, or planning a visit, this is definitely a culinary spot that should be included on your itinerary. The Deli is truly a sensational place: and I'm not just saying that for its 70s, 80s, and 90s vibe, but also for its excellent service and food. Unfortunately, the restaurant doesn't have many tables, and even with counter space, there's still not enough room for everyone. So plan to arrive early, make a reservation, or wait in line, which can take up to an hour depending on the time of day. Now, if you don't mind not eating in, they offer takeout at the store next door, which is just as delicious, as it's prepared the same way. Plus, you can also buy other items from the restaurant, including preserves and sauces. Unfortunately, the restaurant doesn't have facilities for disabled guests, and the entrances to both stores are small, preventing wheelchairs from entering. In these cases, you'll need the help of friends and family. The prices are very attractive, and the delicious food is worth the wait and the trip. They don't have their own parking lot, and depending on the day, parking in the area is impossible (keep in mind that all street parking is paid, so you'll rarely find free parking).
Karen G — Google review
Absolutely great place and experience! The sandwiches are fresh and delicious, and the pickles are perfect. I especially loved the friendly atmosphere, the older gentleman working there really made our visit special with his cheerful anecdotes from the past. Highly recommend stopping by for great food if you're in Montreal.
FARZAM K — Google review
We had a smoked meat sandwich, smoked meat poutine and coleslaw. Food: The poutine was super tasty - it's a 5 star. The sandwich was a bit dry - it's a 3 star. I would recommend you may want to order coleslaw together unless the sandwich is too dry. The restaurant is very busy. There's a line outside of the restaurant. But they have a takeout-only place right next door so if you don't want to wait in a line, you can get a takeout. The restaurant is small and very crowded but their staffs are very friendly.
S Y — Google review
It is famous for their Smoked Meat Sandwich for a reason. I had a few while in Quesbec and this was the best. The poutine topped with brisket was also excellent. The ambiance reminded of a few diners in New York. Walls filled with newspaper clipped, etc. It is in Montreal so parking isn't great but we had no problem finding a spot and getting inside. We ordered, ate, paid and left in just over 15 minutes. Very fast and the food is too good to eat slowly.

Was looking to try some Montreal smoked meat while in town, so went to the OG place. Had lunch here and was able to sit at the counter with no wait. Our server was absolutely pleasant and directed us in what/how to order. Food came out fast and was hot. Absolutely delicious!

The Montreal Museum of Archaeology and History offers a captivating journey through the rich history of Montreal. Located in the city's historic center, this modern museum is housed in historical buildings and features interactive exhibits that showcase the evolution of the Canadian city from its earliest indigenous settlements to contemporary times. With over 4,000 artifacts on display, visitors can explore various aspects of Montreal's history, culture, and infrastructure.
Pretty interesting museum to checkout at the Old Port. The new and temporary interactive sections were the most fun .. knights, pirates, and the alley-op. Accessible by bus and we didn't need to buy tickets in advance as we visited on a weekday. I can see it could get busy on weekends, so you might want to plan in advance. It is near other attractions at the Old Port, and you can easily spend a few hours here depending on how in-depth you are checking out each exhibit.

I visited this Museum today and loved it! It’s such a fascinating place, full of well-organized exhibits that really bring the city’s past to life. The museum has several interactive sections where you can explore artifacts, watch immersive projections, and even walk through parts of the old city foundations. I’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting Montreal who enjoys history!

The Montreal Museum of Archaeology and History is one of the most fascinating and well-organized museums I’ve visited. It blends history, storytelling, and modern technology in a way that keeps you completely engaged from start to finish. The exhibits take you through the roots of Montreal, with interactive displays, real archaeological artifacts, and multimedia experiences that make the city’s history come alive. The layout is easy to follow, and the information is presented in both French and English, which is great for visitors. The staff are friendly and helpful, and you can tell they care about maintaining the experience for everyone. The building itself is beautiful, located right in Old Montreal with a great view of the waterfront. It’s well worth the $29 admission! You could easily spend a few hours exploring everything without feeling rushed. A must-visit for anyone interested in Montreal’s past or Canadian history in general.

Stunning museum about the history of Montreal. Very cleverly built around and over the archaeological digs, many of which can be seen through glass floors. Interactive displays that bring the history to life and show the development over time. Cafe food good, you will need to book a table at busy times.

An engaging and creative view of under Vieux-Port de Montreal. Using all forms of media, you can learn about the history in very clever ways: the architecture, the land, and the people. Having a single focus subject - the Island of Montreal - allowed me to really absorb the information. One of the best museums I've ever been too.

Situated in the heart of the most storied region in Canada, the Montreal Museum of Archaeology and History is a must-do when visiting the area. This Museum boasts a large collection or historic artifacts which continue to be discovered to this day. It also gives an in-depth account of how Montreal came to be the city it is today. Staff are fluent in both French and English and super knowledgable. Parking was a bit tricky but easy to find within a 5 minute walk of the Museum.

Cathedral
Catholic church
Nestled in the vibrant heart of Montreal, Quebec, the Mary, Queen of the World Cathedral is a breathtaking testament to 19th-century architecture and Catholic heritage. Modeled after St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, this grand cathedral showcases a neoclassical design that reflects its religious significance while steering clear of Gothic Revival styles associated with Protestantism. Following the destruction of St-Jacques Cathedral by fire in 1852, architects crafted this magnificent structure as a symbol of faith and cultural richness.
Entrance is free!! Mary Queen of the World Cathedral is a beautiful Catholic temple in the heart of downtown montreal. It's a scaled down replica of the St. Peter's Cathedral in the Vatican. Visit the interior and be treated with a beautiful display of religious interior design and historical paintings. Now I'm no religious person but I often find myself visiting this temple. Alaric recommends 👐🙏

Beautiful church, one of my favourite churches in Montreal. The architecture is just beautiful, and I also love to come to celebrate the Holy Mass here. I believe most of the masses are held in French. Confession is mostly in French too. I love the priests from this church too. The gift shop is also nice. PLEASE, If you’re not Catholic and visiting , respect this holy place. Do not enter wearing immodest clothes… you wouldn’t complain in a temple of a different religion would request you the same.
Nena “ — Google review
A Masterpiece of Art and History in the Heart of Montreal Walking into the Mary, Queen of the World Cathedral is an absolutely breathtaking experience. The sheer scale and magnificence of its architecture are awe-inspiring. Modelled after St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, this cathedral is a stunning example of Renaissance revival architecture, and its grand dome, intricate baldachin over the altar, and beautiful paintings depicting Montreal's history immediately transport you to another era. The craftsmanship and attention to detail are simply fantastic. What makes this place so special is not just its beauty, but the rich history behind it. It stands as a powerful symbol of Montreal's past, and you can feel the weight of that history as you walk through its vast nave. Even if you are not a follower of this religion, I highly recommend visiting this cathedral. It is more than a place of worship; it's a living museum and a masterpiece of art. To stand inside and admire the soaring ceilings, the stunning artwork, and the incredible architectural feats is an unforgettable experience for anyone who appreciates culture, history, and human creativity. It is truly a jewel in Montreal's crown and a destination that should not be missed.
Herberth A — Google review
A tribute to Mary, the Queen of all queens. For the mother of a man that changed the course of history, and still is, nothing is ever too small. Even though the cathedral is a replica of the Vatican at a 50th of the size, it does not loose any prestige, and its grandeur is quite suited to celebrate the Saint Mother. Set in the busy downtown area of Montreal between the financial and fashion districts, the cathedral could serve as a reminder that not only the material is important in life. The “pièce de résistance” inside the cathedral is composed of the four pillars of Solomon’s temple (the baldaquin) under which the altar lays. The original version having been built above Saint Peter’s resting place in Rome, the replica here may serve as a symbol of unity between the founder of Christianity and the Mother of its first prophet. The interior of the cathedral is a haven of tranquility, in contrast to the buzzing area it settled at and the flocks of nervous tourists coming around for a stop on their agenda. Built under the guidance of Monseigneur Bourget, Bishop of Montreal in the late 1800’s, his fierce admiration for the Vatican and the then Pope Pius IX, won Bourget the praise of the Pope for a new cathedral to replace the one lost during a fire. Bourget sent secretly one of his followers to measure the Basilica of St-Peter’s of Rome, so to replicate and bring home the subject of his awe. The result is quite respectable, masses are frequent, supported by soloists, and relevant for nowadays believers, joining yesteryear’s philosophy with current challenges in society. – May peace be conferred upon you all.

Mary, the Queen of the World Cathedral, has an impressive architecture and stands in downtown Montreal. It is built in the form of a cross and has very beautiful artwork in the interior section. It was completed in 1894 and is the third largest cathedral in Quebec. It can be visited every day and the staff at the entrance are very helpful with providing information about the cathedral. Consider that it is still an active place of worship, where people come to prayer and give solace. Being a pure tourist and acting like one when visiting may disturb those who are praying unintentionally. It is a good idea to be mindful of our behaviour when visiting the cathedral.
Reza N — Google review
Magnificent Cathedral located directly in the centre of Montreal boasting large expansive interiors that is a scaled down replica of St Peter's in Rome. I absolutely adored how the Cathedral was relatively not crowded and quiet; it provided the perfect atmosphere for some quiet introspection.

Absolutely beautiful Catholic cathedral. If you're looking for Sunday mass celebrated in English, you've found it! Even if you're not looking for mass, stop here anyway. The architecture, a nod to St Peter's Basilica, dedication to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and veneration to the saints is well worth the visit.

The McCord Stewart Museum, located in downtown Montreal near McGill Campus, is a treasure trove of historical artifacts and exhibits. Founded by David Ross McCord in 1921 to display his family's collections, the museum now houses over a million objects. Its diverse exhibits cover a wide range of subjects from hockey to Inuit art and showcase the unique history of Montreal.
We went to see the Victorian Ball and First Nations exhibits. For a small museum, it had very nice collections and was a great way to have a little afternoon excursion for only $20. It was wonderful to see hiw elaborate and colorful the costumes were. My only complaint was that the main room in the ball exhibition was so dimly lit, you couldn't see the colors on the gowns without a flashlight. Don't forget to check out the beautiful items in the gift shop!
Thetruthergirls — Google review
We attended the costume ball exhibit and thoroughly enjoyed it. The exhibit provided an informative overview of ball culture during that era, highlighting the significance of custom in high society. Despite its compact size, the museum offered a variety of other exhibits, including a street photography section. The overall layout was meticulously designed, and attention to detail was evident throughout. Interactive activities, such as a complimentary photo booth, were also available. I strongly recommend purchasing tickets online to avoid the price difference when purchasing them in person.

Although this is not a huge museum, every exhibit is SO well presented. The attention to details in every room of every exhibit is top tier. We had a great time. They make a noticeable effort to make their environment/presentations family/kids-friendly. The « Indigenous voices of today » exhibit was the best, most heartfelt and thought-generating First Nations exhibit we’ve seen so far. The costume balls exhibit is making us realize how much forward we went forward as a society in barely 100-150 years while appreciating old days crafstmanship and (sometimes unhealthy) creativity.

Apartment building
Historical place museum
Habitat 67 is a remarkable housing complex located near the river in Montreal's Old Port. Designed by architect Moshe Safdie for Expo 67, it features stacked box-like structures that have become an influential architectural landmark. The building offers a unique and distinct appearance with interconnected walkways and forms. While some consider it one of Canada's most distinctive architectural landmarks, others have labeled it as one of the top 10 ugliest buildings in North America.
The tour of Habitat 67 was both fun and informative! Fanny did a fantastic job sharing the history and architectural significance of this iconic site. She and Jacob were attentive not only to the group’s curiosity but also to the importance of being respectful toward current residents and the structure itself. Both went above and beyond to make the experience memorable. I highly recommend this tour to anyone considering a visit. It’s absolutely worth the trip to see a close inside look. Plus, it’s an easy and safe bike ride from the port!
Nancy P — Google review
This is Habitat 67 — a first-class piece of architecture that looks like Jenga blocks were designed by Dr. Seuss’s even more maniacal brother. People actually live here, though I don’t know how they find their apartments. A living room could be attached to someone else’s front door. It’s also one of the three things to do in Montreal (not really kidding), so you owe yourself and your weird friend a scenic stop. Skyline, river views, and the fever-dream design make it a worthwhile experience.
Durell B — Google review
Its an interesting set of buildings. Good for a click and move on visit. Fascinating architecture but there is nothing there. Private property. No food. No coffee. If you walk here you will have to uber somewhere else from here. Guess if you don't do a tour its a come oh cool, ok now what place.

Didn't end up doing the tour due to a time constraint but it's nonetheless a really good touch and go location to visit. Aside from the very intriguing architecture itself, there's also really good views of Montreal downtown and a pretty neat walking path across the bridge to Parc Jean Drapeau

Walking tour: I took the walking of this is an icon building, that I have wanted to visit for over fifty years, and it did not disappoint. From the day it opened, this complex has been an inspiration for it novels modular style of construction and the uniqueness of the open design.
Raymond H — Google review
A lot has already been said about this architectural landmark of Montreal. I believe this place is worth visiting. Different guides tell different stories about the place and the Expo 67 itself and about the architect Moshe Safdie. It's sometimes interesting to go back in time and to see / learn how everything was back then. The tour fee for 2 adults this July was around $100. There are 4 tours per day: 2 English and 2 French. We booked our spots online on the Habitat 67 website. However, during our tour, there were people who joined our group right before the beginning, and from what it looked like, the tour for them was free. The free parking is steps away from the building, but it's not easy to find a spot, as usually the parking is full. The tour is 90 min long, so be ready to walk a lot. There are benches on the premises, where it is also possible to sit and have some rest, but it won't be that simple to find the group if they go without you, as the building resembles a maze. Overall, it was a good experience. I would recommend it to my friends.

Montreal Underground City, also known as RESO, is a vast network of underground pathways and tunnels spanning nearly 32 kilometers. It connects various shopping centers, subway stations, and buildings in the downtown area. This underground pedestrian complex offers access to over 2,000 stores, 17 museums, an ice hockey arena, a movie theatre, nightclubs, restaurants and numerous other businesses. It is easily accessible from the street level or through major hotels and subway stations.
The architect is definitely something to marvel at! Pristine, classy and unique. Visitors park on levels 9-12 underground and take the elevator to ground level. Not many boutique shops but still worth a visit!

Navigating the underground shopping center did not disappoint. It’s huge and has pretty much everything you could think of. It reminded me a little of the a Tokyo underground mall. It was very clean and well maintained. It was also a welcome air conditioned place to escape the blistering heat that day!

We didn’t have much time to explore as we were in Montreal for only 3 days but the portion we visited was nice although nothing special about it really. I think we might have appreciated it better in the winter when we would have been sheltered from the cold but we preferred visiting the city outdoors as the weather was so nice. A must visit though.
Joana M — Google review
I like the underground network, unfortunately it is not all underground because some tunnels have been closed to the public so you need to go up the streets to connect to another RESO building. It is similar to Calgary's +15 skyway network which I find way scenic and easy to navigate, but overall the Montreal tunnels is interesting and worth the experience.

The Underground City isn't just a tourist attraction — it's a real part of everyday life for locals. Stretching over 30 km, it connects shopping malls, hotels, metro stations, universities, and office buildings — all sheltered from the harsh winter weather. You can walk for hours without ever going outside. Great for shopping, dining, and staying warm during snowy days. The signs could be a bit clearer for first-time visitors, but it’s still a unique experience worth exploring. Perfect for those who want to enjoy the city in any season — especially in winter!

It's a shopping center, selling clothing, candles, candy, shoes, etc. Nothing particularly special there. What makes it unique is that you decend into it, instead of climbing levels up. That's it. The standard food court is on the lowest level. I recommend the Aqua Lunch for freshly-made fish and generous servings of extras, veggies, rice, potatoes, salad, etc. It served fresher food fast, not fast food. There is a higher-end food court on the single "upper floor" above street level, the "Time Out Market."We did not make it back to eat here but it had a large variety of food from different ethnic groups and alcohol was available for purchase.

Right when you walk in, you’re greeted by massive dinosaur fossils and even a giant whale skeleton hanging from the ceiling that is seriously jaw-dropping. Upstairs, there’s a massive collection of gemstones and minerals that sparkle like crazy. And the best part? It’s completely FREE! I still can’t believe that. Only downside: no elevator, so you’ve got to take the stairs. But honestly? It’s one of those hidden gems in Montreal you don’t want to miss.

The Redpath Museum is absolutely worth a visit, with its rich collection and donation-based admission. Kid loves animals. The gift shop offers appealing items and is well worth browsing. The building is old, so unfortunately there are no accessibility features or elevators. It was a bit stuffy inside as the temperature was 18°C outside but there was no air conditioning or fan running indoors, which is a bit of a shame.

Really cool museum to visit! The kids really liked it! No fixed entry fee - It’s by donation. Recommend a visit but there are 3 floors - no elevators or air con!

Absolutely charming museum!!! Widest selection of exhibits, everything is well designed and very informative. Nice, unobtrusive staff. Majestic interior of the old building - very beautiful inside. I definitely recommend it!

We loved visiting the Redpath Museum in Montreal. The museum was build as part of McGill University to assist in teaching and education of Natural History and it is located on the university's campus on Sherbrooke Street West in Montreal. It was built in 1882 as a gift from the sugar baron Peter Redpath. It is the oldest building built specifically to be a museum in Canada. It houses collections of interest to ethnology, biology, paleontology, and mineralogy/geology. The collections were started by some of the same individuals who founded the Smithsonian and Royal Ontario Museum collections. There are great descriptions of the displays in French and in English. It is free to visit but they like you to give a donation. They have a couple of letters from Darwin in the museum.

I like the style of this museum. Lots to see in a relatively small space, making everything more interesting. Cool dinosaurs. No air conditioning. Just overall unique experience. Would recommend.

Place des Arts is, in my opinion, one of Montreal’s greatest cultural gems. The area around it has evolved into one of the city’s most charming yet bustling sectors, with something to enjoy in every season. I can easily imagine how delighted tourists must feel when visiting. Its proximity to excellent restaurants and the metro (subway) makes it very accessible, though parking can sometimes be a bit tricky—but not enough to take away from the experience. I’ve attended numerous shows here, including Broadway productions, which are truly spectacular. My only real criticism is the sound quality, which isn’t always ideal. While many may overlook this, an acoustic overhaul would significantly elevate the entertainment experience and make this venue even more remarkable.

Saw 2 concerts in October. Mezzanine seats are too small. Also mezzanine seats don't have a unobstructed view (lighting fuxtures) of the screen images. It's something Place Des Arts should consider for people sitting higher (project images lower i n the screens) Parterre seats are ideal.

Nice place for shows and concerts, acoustics are clear, the place itself is really well maintained, not crappie sets... illumination during this last show now in 2025 Montreal Jazzfestival, was very modest but accordingly appropriate with jazz rhythm, Dianne Reeves makes us happy for an 1,15 hour, very recommended, the only thing I didn't find was a place to buy a bottle of water, but finally we found a water fountain

Bota Bota, spa-sur-l'eau is a unique floating spa located in Montreal's Old Port. This upscale 'floating spa' is housed in a historic river ferry and offers a variety of treatments, yoga sessions, and features an onboard restaurant. The spa has become a popular attraction for both locals and tourists since its opening in 2010. Guests can enjoy the mineral-rich hot tub while taking in stunning views of Downtown core, Mount Royal, and the historic Old Port from the river.
Absolutely Loved the Experience! I had such a relaxing and enjoyable time at the spa. The jacuzzi was warm and super comfortable — perfect for unwinding. The pool was peaceful and calming, and the sauna was hot but in the best way — it made me feel so relaxed and even a little sleepy (in a good way!). I especially loved the relaxation room — I got cozy and read a great book while just soaking in the calm atmosphere. Whether you’re looking for solo self-care or a chill day with friends or family, I definitely recommend this place. I’ll absolutely be coming back!
Yetunde S — Google review
What can I say about this place? It was MAGICAL!! What a cool idea to convert a boat into a spa. It just works on so many levels! The staff was kind and incredibly helpful, the facility was clean and fragrant, the water circuit was a fun adventure with its daybeds and fun sips, while the massage was OUT OF THIS WORLD!! I can't wait to return and experience this beautiful escape many times over. No photos allowed on site!
Phil — Google review
Bota Bota is truly a one-of-a-kind experience. From the moment you step onto the boat, the atmosphere feels calm, elegant, and refreshing. The views of Old Montreal and the river make the whole spa experience feel surreal — it’s like escaping the city while still being in the heart of it. The water circuit is perfectly designed, with hot baths, cold plunges, and relaxation areas that flow naturally. The facilities are very clean, well-maintained, and never feel overcrowded. Staff are attentive and welcoming, always making sure guests feel comfortable and relaxed. Overall, Bota Bota combines relaxation, wellness, and stunning scenery in a way that’s hard to find anywhere else. I’d highly recommend it whether you’re a local looking to recharge or a visitor wanting a unique Montreal experience.

Had a lovely evening. Started with a massage and then relaxing in the various pools, hot tubs, saunas and steam rooms throughout the complex. I went on a Thursday which allows conversation, etc but I did wish they had required people to keep it to soft conversations. Some groups were loud and having full on conversations at full volume.

I went here on a Thursday for 4 hours at the water circuit - it was a great experience with a very relaxed and chilled vibe. Very unique setting since you get to view montreal from the water. Location is also great! The food is ok, nothing special. Staff very friendly. I would flag it has a ‘silence and no phones/tablet’ rule everyday except Thursdays where you can speak / bring your phone.

What a quaint and creative way to repurpose an old ferry boat! Located right on the St. Lawrence River in Montreal, Bota Bota offers a charming outdoor garden with a few hot and cold pools on land, plus a wonderful riverside restaurant. The ferry itself is filled with cozy sauna and meditation rooms, creating a unique and calming atmosphere. Massage services are also available. Not as expansive as Scandinave or Thermea, but overall a great spot for relaxation and a memorable spa experience.
E M — Google review
A favourite spot for an urban spa which offers the best view of the city from a hot tub. Great to take advantage of quieter times in low season. The quality of their massage therapists is outstanding. The food in the restaurant is of great quality. Would agree though with some reviews that locker space could be better: small locker space and a bit outdated.
Ranjani L — Google review
We spend a lovely afternoon at the spa to do the water circuit. There’s lots of different warm, cold and relaxing options. You get a towel and robe if you do the water circuit, but must bring your own sandals. I do wish for the price you got your own sandals (we bought some for $30 CAD) and they gave a better overview of the facilities. I was also a bit disappointed with the locker room, but overall I would go back again.

Bagel shop
St-Viateur Bagel is an iconic storefront famous for its wood-oven baked bagels that come in various flavors and toppings. Located near Le Theatre Rialto, it's part of a mini foodie tour in the area, along with other favorite spots like Lesters Deli and Bernie Beigne. The debate between St. Viateur and Fairmount bagels is ongoing, but many argue that Montreal bagels are objectively better than those from anywhere else.
Amazing bagel sandwiches. Getting an assortment is the way to go. Smoked meat, traditional, and WOW! Bagels pictured here. Have a bite of each one it is incredible. All dressed bagels are the way to go. Crunchy exterior, soft and chewy interior with a hint of sweetness. Amazing! The line up was long but went fast. Must try! The staff was helpful and courteous. Line was fast paced so even though we waited a dozen people it only took a few minutes.

I ordered half a dozen bagels (assorted) as it was my first time trying Montreal style bagels! I wish I asked for their fresh bagels as it definitely made the difference. The fresh sesame bagel I got was pretty tasty (8/10) and I bought a small size of butter to try it out. This location was cash only so ensure you have cash in you - or use the ATM located near the entrance.

Was coming to a hockey game from America and wanted to try out the famous bagel store here. The bagels were very good and freshly made. The employees were friendly and spoke English. Parking was difficult to find and the business is cash only which made it very hard for exchanging American money somewhere beforehand. Bagels were fresh though and doughy, enjoyed the variety we purchased.
James M — Google review
I had a wonderful experience at this iconic bagel shop in Montreal. The bagels were incredibly fresh and flavorful — perfectly chewy with that signature wood-fired crispness. Watching them bake right in front of us, with thousands of golden bagels coming out of the oven, was truly a treat. The aroma, the craftsmanship, and the warmth of the place make it a must-visit spot for anyone in Montreal. Highly recommended!

Have been wanting to try these bagels for awhile and was happy with how it turned out. The line moves fast and the service is excellent. Got a variety of bagels with some cream cheese . Everything was delicious and fresh.

I visited St-Viateur Bagel in Montreal and absolutely loved the authenticity! If you’re visiting the city, this is a must-try spot for breakfast. The sesame bagel and everything bagel are both amazing fresh, warm, and perfectly chewy. Grab one and head over to Café Olimpico (or your favorite local café) for a coffee the combo is perfect. Highly recommend this Montreal classic!
Hasnainali S — Google review
I ordered from Uber Eats because It had been a while since I had a true montreal style bagel. And of course st viateur is supposedly the best. I ordered 6 bagels, cream cheese, a package of smoked salmon and a freshley squeezed orange juice. The total was $55. Expensive but I figured it would be worth it from this iconic establishment of world renown. The bagels (and this is coming from a montreal jew who knows her bagels) were not fresh. They were cooked at least 12 hours prior and by bagel terms they are ancient (the night before?). I was missing my cream cheese entirely from my order which made having a bagel, cream cheese and lox sandwich impossible unfortunately. The lox which was $10 for 3 small slices was right on the expiry date and tasted that way. I had to throw the entirety of it in the bin. The freshley squeezed orange juice which by the way, I was super excited to find (its so difficult to find fresh juice these days) was so sour, it was undrinkable. That too ended up down the sink. So, $55 later, I salvaged a few bagels which I needed to toast. I brought this to Uber Eats attention, another renown company, top of their game and they refunded me for the kissing cream cheese. How generous of them. So, all in all, perhaps try one of the many other bagel establishments in Montreal because it seems as though saint viateur bagel is coasting on their propped up name only. Good pr, sub par Everything else.
Robyn L — Google review
had the pleasure of trying the traditional bagel at St-Viateur Bagel, and I have to say it was incredible! The portion size is very generous — definitely filling enough for a hearty meal. The bagel itself was perfectly baked with that authentic Montreal-style texture: crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and packed with flavor. The price-performance ratio here is excellent. You get great quality for a very reasonable price, which makes it a must-visit spot for bagel lovers or anyone looking for an authentic Montreal experience. On my first visit, we waited about 40 minutes in line, which might seem long, but the friendly atmosphere and the smell of fresh bagels baking made the wait enjoyable. We decided to eat inside, and the experience was wonderful — fresh, warm bagels served with great service. The next day, we wanted to enjoy the same delicious bagels at home, so we ordered via Uber Eats. Even through delivery, the quality and taste didn’t disappoint. It was almost as good as eating there! The staff at St-Viateur Bagel were very kind and helpful during both visits, which made the experience even better. One thing to note: they only accept cash and debit cards, so be prepared for that. Credit cards are not accepted. Overall, if you’re ever in Montreal, St-Viateur Bagel is an absolute must. I’m already looking forward to my next visit and can’t wait to enjoy these amazing bagels again

Gibeau Orange Julep is a Montreal must-visit, known for its iconic giant orange orb structure that has been around since 1930. This roadside attraction offers a retro feel, especially during summer evenings when vintage car enthusiasts gather. The menu features classic Quebec casse-croute fare, including vegetarian-friendly options like poutine, veggie dogs, and veggie burgers. Their signature frothy Orange Julep drink is a popular choice among visitors.
I absolutely love everything about this place! Great vibe and atmosphere. The orange juice is amazing. I ordered a regular and Michigan hot dog. Best hot dogs I’ve ever had. The wings are also really good. You must add this to your list when visiting Montreal! 🍊

Interesting restaurant that everyone can see the big orange once you reach the area 1. Orange drink : strange taste that may not appeal to everyone 2. Hotdog is great 3. Poutine is acceptably delicious 4.Service: self served 5. Sitting outside : quite windy when we were there 6. Price : quite priced ….
Wilbur L — Google review
The Orange Julep was truly one of the best orange juices I’ve ever had, sweet, frothy, and bursting with bright, fresh citrus flavour. From the very first sip, you can tell it’s made daily from fresh squeezed oranges, there’s a natural sweetness and tang that feels pure and refreshing, unlike anything you’d get from a bottled juice. The texture is creamy and smooth, almost like a light orange shake, making it both satisfying and incredibly refreshing at the same time. Beyond the drink itself, there’s something special about the experience, sipping it under the giant orange dome feels nostalgic and distinctly Montreal. It’s more than just a drink, it’s a tradition that captures the charm and simplicity of classic roadside treats. Whether you’re stopping by on a sunny afternoon or as a late night treat, it’s guaranteed to hit the perfect balance between indulgence and refreshment. A must try if you’re ever in the city.

ordered the poutine and orange juice ! overall good experience. We didn’t expect the fries to be with mozzarella…. But the fries’ crunchiness was still intact even with all the sawwwwuce 😍 you definitely need to be in a certain mood to eat this meal — very heavy & salty !
Elaine — Google review
Orange Julep is one of those iconic spots you feel like you have to try at least once — and that’s exactly what we did. The giant orange structure is hard to miss and definitely adds to the charm and curiosity of the place. That said, the experience itself was a bit mixed. Ordering was a bit tricky, especially since everything on the menu was in French. While the cashier did try to help, the place is always busy with long lines, so you can’t expect much time or personalized service. They do their best, but it’s a fast-paced environment. I ended up ordering a chicken sandwich and, of course, their signature Orange Julep drink. The sandwich was okay — nothing extraordinary, but it did the job. The orange drink, however, lived up to its reputation. It was creamy, sweet, and refreshing — definitely the highlight of the visit, though a bit too sweet for my taste. Overall, Orange Julep is worth visiting for the novelty and the famous drink. Don’t expect a gourmet meal or calm service, but if you’re in Montreal and curious about local staples, it’s a fun place to check out at least once.
MAHESH S — Google review
Fun visit, but overpriced for what you get Stopped by the Orange Julep and had a mixed experience. The hot dogs were very good—classic, tasty, and satisfying. The Julip drink was also excellent, refreshing and unique as always. However, the poutine was underwhelming, and the French fries were disappointing—just a pile of short, stubby pieces that were awkward to eat and not enjoyable. For a place known for fast food, I expected better. Overall, it was still a good experience thanks to the nostalgic vibe and the standout Julip drink, but the value isn’t there. Prices are way too high for what is essentially hot dogs and fries. Worth a visit for the novelty, but don’t expect a great deal.

Located in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, the Ecomuseum Zoo is a year-round nature park showcasing 115 native animal species from Quebec's Saint Lawrence Valley. This outdoor zoo offers a unique and natural experience for visitors to observe animals such as Black Bears, Woodland Caribou, River Otters, Turtles, Canada Lynx and Eagles.
Is a great place to walk around; wasn't too busy when I went for 10am. All doors were big enough for a double big bike stroller. Great place for learning and little play areas. They also had a picnic section which was really nice.

My family and I had a great visit. We were happy to see a zoo, where animals were living in habitats very close to their natural environment. We were able to see a large amount of the animals on a very hot day. Some of the animals were trying to cool off in the shade and we were unable to see them. I am thankful that the zoo has the animals in habitats where they can avoid the rain and the sun if they need it. Great location I would go again. There are also a ton of swings obstacles and things for young kids to play while walking through the zoo. My kids absolutely loved seeing exhibits getting to climb a jungle Jim seeing exhibit getting to go on a swing seeing more exhibits than going through a maze.

This zoo is a well-maintained facility with a thriving ecosystem that prioritizes animal welfare. Many of the animals are rescued or adopted, and the zoo's location is both family-friendly and entertaining. The staff takes great care of the animals and wildlife, making it a must-visit destination.
Mr. A — Google review
This place is nice but i feel like some things need to be added to enhance the visitor experience. The one animal we really wanted to see that day was the bear, and unfortunately after around 30 mins of waiting we never saw one. I understand that this isn't a typical zoo but maybe giving out information to visitors about the times each animal is more likely to be visible would be nice. Or offering discounts when some animals don’t seem to be visible for a long time. At the end of the day, yes this zoo is not like other traditional zoos but visitors come mainly to see the animals. We didn’t see a couple more animals but oh well it’s okay. Once again this zoo lets the animals rest whenever they want so it’s okay to not see all animals but maybe having a schedule for the most probable times animals aren't asleep would be good. On another note, It’s one of the best kept animal places I've been to. They really seem to care for the animals. With all the play stations i feel like it’s perfect for families with kids. I personally didn't see one but maybe adding a cafe or a mini snack station would be nice for visitors, if there isn’t already one. Over all, it was nice to visit this place but once is enough. My favorite section was the reptile section. I have never seen so many different species of turtles in one place.
Sarrah — Google review
The Ecomuseum has the greatest staff with some beautiful wildlife and exhibits to see. It takes about an hour and a half to see all the exhibits, but my partner and I stayed longer as we doubled back to see some animals like the racoons, wolves, owls, otters, ravens, and lynx. I had no idea that racoons loved to snooze in trees so much! There is also an array of animals throughout the walk that you can see as well; there were cardinals, chickadees, juncos, swallows, and squirrels. This is a trail that you can free-roam, and going on a Saturday morning proved to be very quiet and peaceful. We met an employee on the trail named Natalia and her personality and kindness was greatly appreciated. She ended up sharing some information about local wildlife and the zoo itself before showing us the racoon exhibit. Natalia, along with the entire staff were so friendly and it really meant a lot to us. We can see from their attitude that they truly care for these animals. The exhibits themselves are also very spacious and open. All the wildlife here from what I understand are rescues, and it's comforting to know they're in good hands with a clean, open environment to safely habitate. The zoo also has demonstrations and sessions on specific days, so keep an eye out for that if you ever decide to take a trip there. There's plenty to do for children as there are multiple playground areas and the zoo makes it very easy to gain information and learn about the wildlife in Quebec. The kids who came across our path during our time here were very respectful of the animals, which is great to see as we need more of that. We didn't have as much time to take in the reptile and amphibian exhibit, but from the quick pass we made, they had some beautiful snakes, frogs, newts, salamanders, and turtles. Their gift shop was also very nice with an abundance of selection from clothing to jewelry, and books to art - a fantastic way to support the zoo and raise awareness about the wonders of nature and wildlife. This is an amazing place to visit and a very quick drive from downtown Montreal.
Benjamin S — Google review
Fun place to visit with kids. The enclosures are large and realistic to actual Quebec environments and the animals seem well treated, although you may have to look harder for them than at the typical zoo. Tickets are a bit pricey for the zoo's size but it remains worth a visit nonetheless.
Fatcatter — Google review
A great zoo 30 min drive from downtown, the enclosures all seem fantastic. While many animals were asleep I still saw nearly all of them. Even saw the lynxs hunting. Worth the visit and support. Seems like a great spot to bring kids

I went via my work and it was actually great when we have kids , lots of activities for kids every where. Animals were limited, yet they mostly have arctic species. Well, it’s not like a complete zoo rather it’s an ecomuseum. The washrooms were not accessible easily though, as it was only at entrance. I personally enjoyed animal enrichment where I fed a coyote with pepper filled with some flavours . I felt sad as the coyote has only 3 legs yet, he’s been treated with great care .Kudos to the teams 👏👏 We also had an advantage to touch a rat snake and turtle shell in-person that was an awesome experience. Overall, it’s a fun filled for kids for sure. A perfect family trip They have a boutique we were given 15% discount since we went through our work. I personally appreciate all the crew members for explaining me about these animals and their habitats. I certainly learned something today for sure

I went this Jazz Festival on July 1,2025. This girl that I want to pass during the concert of Arya Starr. She said to me I was rude. I have language barrier and had an emotional breakdown. She was judging too much. I was depressed for 5 years already!. I dont want to make a scene in there. Never came back again!

The Clock Tower, constructed between 1919-1922, serves as a poignant memorial to sailors lost at sea. Situated at the entrance of the historic Old Port along the St-Lawrence River, this iconic landmark offers a range of activities such as cycling paths, an urban beach, and even Segway rentals. Visitors can also enjoy festivals held here throughout the year. The tower's 192 steps lead to breathtaking views of the city and river from its 45-meter height.
The Montreal Clock Tower is a beautiful and historic landmark that everyone should see at least once. Built between 1919 and 1922, it was dedicated to sailors who died at sea and also functioned as a lighthouse for the port. The architecture is stunning and when it is open you can climb about 192 steps to reach the top. It is worth noting that you cannot always go inside since according to Google the interior is generally only open in the summer and during specific hours. Even when closed, the tower is striking to see up close and the surrounding views of the Old Port, the St. Lawrence River, La Ronde, and even the Biodome across the bridge are incredible. It is also very accessible. You do not need a car or a tour to get there, you can simply walk, and even though the road feels long it is actually a very quick trip. When I visited with my dad at around 9:45 in the morning, there were two other people nearby and unfortunately I came across something that really shocked me. Behind the tower there was human faeces. It did not smell but I was so disgusted I nearly threw up. I do not know who did it or what the situation was, but this is not acceptable in such a public and meaningful place. There were also signs of vandalism around the area, which was disappointing to see. There are many public washrooms available in Montreal, so there is no reason for this kind of behaviour. Staff were not yet on site since the tower does not open until 11 AM, so I could not report it at the time, but I hope it was cleaned up and addressed quickly after. Even with that unpleasant surprise, the Clock Tower itself remains a very special landmark. The history, the design, and the views make it unforgettable. It is a true gem in the Old Port and I would still recommend visiting to appreciate its beauty and significance. 🕰️🗼

We stopped in Montreal on our way to Quebec for a short vacation. We parked in the old city section and went to the Basilica and a few other sites. Then we got in the car and drove very to see the Clock Tower. It is beautiful and really stands out.

The only entrance we saw required paying minimum of $35 for parking to access the tower, beach, and yachts. However, there’s also a walking path where you can still enjoy a view of the tower without parking inside.

Here is tge famous iconic clock tower of Montreal, right by the coast in the old district. It is a popular place for locals to do running and cycling. It can be a very good experience to go around the tower and admire the beauty of the structure which has been in Montreal for a very long time.

We didn’t have much time to explore the Clock Tower itself, but it’s definitely a nice spot to visit if you’re walking around the Old Port. The area around it is beautiful and peaceful, especially on a sunny day. Just beside the tower, there’s a lovely urban beach where you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the view of the river. It’s a great place to unwind for a while. The walk to get there is also one of the best parts. The boardwalk along the waterfront is clean, scenic, and full of nice photo spots. You can watch boats pass by, grab a drink or ice cream from nearby stalls, and just take your time strolling. If you’re visiting Montreal and want a calm, relaxing afternoon, this area is worth it. I’d set aside about half a day if you want to enjoy the beach, take photos, and soak up the atmosphere. It’s not a “must-see” attraction in the sense of big sights, but it’s a really pleasant place to slow down and enjoy the city.

Absolutely stunning! This is hands down the best viewpoint in Montreal. From here, you get a wide, breathtaking panoramic view of the entire downtown skyline, the St. Lawrence River, and even the mountains in the distance. The large terrace is spacious and has a peaceful energy. It’s a perfect place to relax, take photos, and just take in the beauty of the city from above. A magnificent urban oasis in Montreal, designed by the famous landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted. The park's stunning natural beauty includes lush greenery, scenic walking trails, and breathtaking views from the summit of Mount Royal. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities throughout the year, from hiking and picnicking in the warmer months to ice skating and sledding in winter. With its rich history and vibrant atmosphere, Mont-Royal Park is an essential destination for both locals and tourists looking to experience the outdoors in the heart of the city.
Abdou B — Google review
Montrealers are proud of their “mountain”, the Mount-Royal. On the Mount, they walk, jog, bicycle, ski, sleigh, skate, smoke, drink, pick-nick, sometimes have s3x, and they pretty much do anything their imagination might wander on. I mean they even get buried on the Mount, as there is a choice of 4 different cemeteries. All in all, whether one is looking at the flowers from beneath or preferably from the top, the beloved mountain serves a much appreciated peaceful and quiet place for soothing the soul, especially under the cover and comfort of Autumn’s colors. As such, it provides an alternative to the ubiquitous fluorescence of the orange construction signs, so typical of any given day in Montreal. Sightseeing at first from the lower east side of the Mount, on Jeanne-Mance Park, you will find a couple of beach volley fields, and pretty often, exciting games and good players. Right cross the Avenue du Parc, you can catch on a warm sunny day the Tam-tams du Mont-Royal, a colorful gathering of drummers, dancers, vendors and their admiring audiences. A stroll near by, on the Olmsted gravel path, will take you through quiet woods and higher on the mount, to Beavers’ Lake (hum-hum, no pun intended)! Pushing up for an extra stretch will take you to the Kondiaronk Belvedere, so to enjoy a splendid view on downtown Montreal, whether by night or by day. From there, you can also give a wink at the St-Lawrence River and the bridges flying above. Standing quite noticeable by the Belvedere, the Chalet is there to welcome guests for a well-earned pause inside the great hall, where the walls bare several drawings, some of questionable historic episodes. If you feel like it, the Café des Amis offers coffee and pastries, although this may strike out the effort for the loss of calories endured during the walk up the mountain. If your knees allow you, a descent from the height of the 339 steps of the Mount-Royal staircase will take you back to the lower Olmsted path. Watch out for the slippery steps, as the flight downward may not be comfortable on landing. Otherwise, a walk to the slightly higher peak of the Mount leads to “the Cross”. The legend says this is exactly where the first French settlers and members of the First Nations signed a peace treaty while sharing the magic tobacco stick; no surprise, right ?! Away at the distance from the cross, there is also a beautiful view on the eastern side of the St-Lawrence River. There is more to explore and do, but I invite the readers to experiment on their own, so to discover the charm and the “joie de vivre” of the mount Montrealers are so proud of.

Lachine Canal National Historic Site is a picturesque waterfront park located in Lachine, Montreal. The site holds historical significance dating back to the 17th century when pioneers sought a route to China. The 14.4-kilometer canal was constructed in 1825 as a passage around the Lachine Rapids and now serves as a charming park with green spaces and biking trails. Visitors can immerse themselves in the area's history while enjoying the scenic views of the canal and lush surroundings.
The Lachine Canal National Historic Site is an absolute gem! As someone who loves both history and outdoor activities, this place offers the perfect blend of both. Stretching nearly 14 kilometers from the Old Port to Lake Saint-Louis, the canal is a beautiful spot for a leisurely stroll, bike ride, or even a paddle. The canal’s history is fascinating. Originally opened in 1825 to bypass the Lachine Rapids, it played a crucial role in Montreal’s industrial development. Today, it’s a popular recreational area, and you can still see remnants of its industrial past, which adds a unique charm to the experience.

A great spot to enter the old port's biking and walking paths. As you enter facing the water, right hand is canal lachine and left hand is old Port. Some benches are around to sit and enjoy the scenery. In front of you is The Daniel McAllister Tug, and right across the basin you can see silo #5, a retired grain mill site open to exploration.

I often ride the bike path through Lachine and while aware of the local history, never really stopped to ‘smell the roses’. Decided to change that yesterday after reading about the conflict there in August 1689 during the Beaver Wars. The ride would be an ideal family outing or a bit of a break during a longer ride. From East to West… 1) The CP train bridge. There is a short trail down to the water with spectacular views. 2) Across the street is a park. I believe this would have been the location of Fort Remy. There is a replica of a church in the park with a plaque that references Remy. 3) The LaSalle windmill is quite spectacular. Is some restoration work going on at present. As you top the hill approaching the Lachine Canal there is a museum on the path. At the intersection with the canal there is an opportunity to enjoy the river riding the loop around the peninsula. 4) The fur trading post. Worth a visit!!! Great folks from Parks Canada there to answer any questions. 5) Plaque (out for repair) commemorating the conflict back in 1689. Referred to as the Lachine Massacre. 6) You can’t miss the spectacular church from any angle 7) Memorial for Fort Rolland. 8) We end at the lighthouse… or do we take in one more attraction;) Enjoy the scenic views of the canal along the way.

A fantastic place to visit just west of the old port. Usually it is more tranquil here than in the touristy spots— with nice link ups to the BIXI. There is also a bar / resto right on the canal, as well as a spa and an ice cream store. Some awe inspiring views of the old elevators and canal locks can be found too. Public bathrooms are here too for your convenience.
Adam B — Google review
Walk quickly (or run) for your life along the canal pathway because above you are massive silos of an agricultural nature supreme in their display. Then stop, look up. How many kilos of grain passed through these rusting silos in their day? It's perhaps a rhetorical question ...

Berge des Coursiers isn't far from the Montreal Old Port Complex, but cannot be considered part of it. The fastest way to get there is to cross the bridge that leads to the Bota Spa and turn right. The Berge is just a few steps further. The little manmade lake has a lot of charm. The scenery changes in accordance with the season. If you're so inclined - and if the season and weather allow it - bring a picnic basket and plan to spend a couple of hours. The soothing sound of a small waterfall will help you relax and forget about the city that's just a couple of steps away.

Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel, one of Montreal's oldest churches, has a rich history dating back to 1673. Founded by Marguerite Bourgeoys and completed in 1771 after a fire, it became a pilgrimage site for sailors in the 19th century. The chapel features unique art, including wooden boats hanging from its rafters as thanks for safe passage in the 1800s.
Visited on a Sunday. Entrance was free, and it was a rainy day, so it wasn't hectic. It's a beautiful historic church. Loved the stained glass. A must-see when in the area. My kids loved it, and they are easily bored.
Through_Barb_Eyes — Google review
Beautiful chapel! Entry is free to the main building to pray and/or look around. There is a small fee ($16 I believe at the time) to visit the Museum and gain access to the Tower Lookout. The view from the top of the tower is great, though it can be difficult to ascend the stairs for those with disabilities. It was also great to learn more about St. Margaret Bourgeois and the pivotal role she played in the development of Montreal.

A Moving Visit to the Sailors' Church Nestled in the heart of Old Montreal, the Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel is a place of profound peace and fascinating history. The chapel's beautiful architecture, preserved over centuries, offers a glimpse into Montreal's past, creating a serene and reflective atmosphere from the moment you step inside. Its intimate scale makes it a truly special and welcoming spiritual home. One of the most unique and touching features of the chapel is the collection of small boat models hanging from the ceiling. It is so good to see these votive offerings, each one placed there as a prayer by sailors and their families for safe passage on their voyages. These ships are a powerful symbol of faith and hope, and they give the chapel a distinctive maritime character that tells a story of Montreal's deep connection to the sea. Whether you are seeking a moment of quiet contemplation or are interested in the rich history of the city, a visit to Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours is a must. The combination of its lovely architecture and the unique tradition of the sailors' prayers makes it a memorable and moving experience.

This is an interesting museum. It's not a huge museum and some of the tower section is not accessible for people who have difficulty with stairs. There were artifacts discovered on site like coins and shards of ceramics. You get a sense of the passion of St. Margaritte and she didnt seem to travel with alot of possessions from France. I enjoyed the church, many parts were beautiful and well kept.

I was taken away by the architecture and the overall design. The church contains a lot of history that was discovered in earlier times. Additionally, when I conducted a tour I learned there might be historical materials lying in the ground. Everyone was warm and friendly and very approachable. When my family visited some young people were singing. The acoustics were so melodious it puts you in a different time.

Located on St. Paul Street, the historic Bonsecours Market has been a prominent feature since 1847, resembling the architecture of Vienna or Paris. Originally an agricultural market and even serving as the Legislative Assembly for a brief period, it is now home to apparel boutiques, art galleries, and restaurants. Despite its stunning exterior, some find the interior lacking in shopping options and vibrancy.
Notable for its beautiful architecture. A few stores inside looked interesting. The food court seemed good, although I didn't try it. Paid parking is available in the vicinity. A must-see attraction for visitors to Old Montreal.

This is the landmark public market building along Rue St. Paul in Old Montreal. Fitted next to the historic Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel, the Bonsecours Market was build in Neo-Classical style by William Footner between 1844-47 and features a column lined entrance and two storey dome. It has been recognised as a National Historic Site in Canada since 1984. The market building is attractive from the outside. Within you find a couple floors of shopping space lined with boutique retail, apparel and food shops, art galleries as well as a few places to grab a bite to eat. It is a neat venue to walk through and spend a bit of time while sightseeing around Old Montreal.

A Beautiful Piece of Montreal's History Bonsecours Market is, without a doubt, one of Montreal's most iconic and historically significant buildings. From the outside, it is absolutely stunning—a magnificent example of neoclassical architecture that stands proudly in Old Montreal. It's the kind of place that's great just to look at or to capture some beautiful photos, a true testament to the architectural style of its time. While the exterior is grand, the inside feels a bit different. It's clear that the building is historic, and while that charm is present, it feels like the interior could use a little more work to match the splendor of its facade. The name "market" is also a bit deceiving; don't expect a traditional market with fresh produce or bustling food stalls. It functions more like a high-end art gallery or a collection of boutique shops. The stores inside offer great, high-quality products, mostly from local artisans, which is wonderful to see. However, be prepared for prices to be a little on the higher side. It would also be great if there was more variety among the shops to offer a broader experience. In general, Bonsecours Market is a fantastic building to admire and a key piece of the city's heritage. It's worth a visit, especially if you appreciate architecture and unique, artisanal crafts.
Herberth A — Google review
This is one of the best markets in old Montreal to buy souvenirs. There are a number of shops, most of which sell souvenir items. Their products are og different designs and accommodate to different tastes and ages.
Reza N — Google review
Wandering through Old Montreal, Bonsecours Market stood out like a beacon of elegance and history. The gleaming silver dome and neoclassical façade immediately caught our eye, and stepping inside felt like entering a curated gallery of Quebec’s creativity. This isn’t your average tourist market—it’s a beautifully restored 19th-century building that now houses a mix of artisan boutiques, galleries, and specialty shops. We found everything from handcrafted jewelry and First Nations artwork to locally made clothing and gourmet treats. Each shop felt like a small museum, with passionate vendors eager to share the stories behind their products. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, with natural light pouring in through tall windows and soft music adding to the ambiance. It’s the kind of place where you can browse slowly, discover something unique, and feel connected to the local culture. We especially appreciated the emphasis on quality over quantity—no tacky souvenirs here, just thoughtful craftsmanship. If you're looking to take home something meaningful from Montreal or simply enjoy a quiet moment surrounded by beauty and history, Bonsecours Market is a must-visit. Bonus points for the nearby cafés and the scenic stroll along Rue Saint-Paul and the Old Port just outside.

Vieux-Port de Montréal is a historic riverfront complex in Old Montreal, the oldest and most vibrant area of the city. The cobblestone streets are lined with 17th-century buildings that used to be banks and colonial mansions, giving it a European feel. Notable attractions include Notre-Dame Basilica, Montreal Science Centre, Montreal City Hall, and Place Jacques Cartier.
I came to this place during the weekend, and there is a bunch to do. Firstly, there is the zip-line that spans a large area over the port; it's a very fun and fast-paced ride, but it takes a while to get on. It took almost an hour to get on, and that's excluding the time it took to do the paperwork. Then there is the waterside market that offers snacks and souvenirs. Furthermore, there is the rides area, with rides such as the massive Ferris wheel, bumper cars, and swinging ship. Last but not least, there are the rental pedal boats that you can ride along the port. Overall, I'd say this is a great place to bring family and friends on a weekend or whenever bored for the variety of activities and great location that is very close to the spectacular churches of Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal and Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel that you could visit on foot after visiting Vieux-Port De Montréal.

A lively and touristy spot in Montreal. This area is rich with history and old stories about the city’s past. We strolled along the scenic pathway by the river and enjoyed beautiful views of Habitat 67. One of the highlights was reading the well-written, bilingual stories displayed on billboards along the way — thoughtfully curated by the local authorities. The main pier area was bustling with food vendors, art and souvenir shops, vending machines, and street performers. There are plenty of benches, and we enjoyed relaxing on one while taking in the views. It’s a perfect place to spend time with family, friends, or loved ones. There are also at least three toilet facilities nearby, along with drinking water fountains.

The old historic port, stretches for around 2kms and was used as early as the early 1600s by French fur traders. The surrounding town has a beautiful European feel, stunning architecture and so much character. Cafes, restaurants, shops and bars line the sidewalks and it’s a tourists delight. The eateries and bars are uniquely themed and so very picturesque- each telling a story of its own. You could easily spend an entire day here - lost in history, literature and of course, romance
Natalie P — Google review
Beautiful spot to see souvenirs, food trucks, people watch and the lovely water views. There are great vibrant outdoor restaurants nearby. Very busy, clean and entertaining area. The prices at the food trucks are more pricey. The lemonade was 7.50 CAD just as FYI.
Maria — Google review
A lovely port with a beautiful water view. There are fun activities that can be done there, such as the ferris wheel, and zip lining. There are also some nice food booths along the walkway.
