Restaurant
The Glass Curtain is a renowned restaurant in Cork, situated at the historic site of a famous bakery. The eatery prides itself on using fresh, high-quality ingredients sourced from local farmers, butchers, cheesemakers, and fishmongers. Its ever-changing menu reflects the best seasonal offerings and showcases innovative dishes. This upscale brasserie offers a sophisticated yet relaxed dining experience and is celebrated for its modern Irish cuisine inspired by global flavors while maintaining a strong commitment to sustainability.
Had a great Easter Sunday lunch, set menu with sharing opinions. Starters and snacks are a great treat. The oyster is really good and worth the money. Staff and the welcome were amazing. We were being looked after by Angie who was unreal and took time to explain all the details and opinions. The knowledge was brilliant and really helped our choices. We shared the porter house steak was cooked to perfection.

Delicious meal bursting with balanced flavours and unique fresh ingredients. We had the tasting menu (see blue). Very accommodating of allergies. Made reservations in advance…Recommend not being first sitting at 5:30pm but 6pm onwards?
Saba L — Google review
Service was outstanding! All around excellent meal! The lamb was amazing and perfectly cooked. The aubergine is one of the best dishes I have had. The desserts were amazing as well. Incredibly creative! Look forward to returning 🌞
Deidre R — Google review
Dining at The Glass Curtain was truly an unforgettable experience during our Ireland trip. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel both welcome and cared for, with warm hospitality and flawless service. Each course was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor—creative yet comforting, with the kind of attention to detail that makes every bite memorable. The atmosphere was intimate and elegant without being pretentious, which allowed us to fully relax and savor the evening. It was clear why The Glass Curtain has earned its Michelin star- it exceeded every expectation. This meal was a highlight of our trip, and we will absolutely return when we are back in Ireland.
Virginia A — Google review
Overall poor experience. Service is appalling for a fine dining. The ambiance is null, looks like you are in a commercial unit with a bar in the middle. The food was ok, but the menu tasting lacks direction in terms of flavours and continuity. Desserts were mediocre. It seems a want to be fine dining bistro that misses class and refinement.
JT M — Google review
If you‘re into fine dining, that isn’t pretentious the Glass Curtain is a must! The food and drinks you get here are the best in town and sometimes even better than michelin starred restaurants in the world! Want to treat yourself and your loved ones - this is the place to be. Service is immaculate, very helpful & knowledgable. Love the ambiente, view of the kitchen and the bar tender. Also - great music playing (:
Christopher T — Google review
What a wonderful first night in Cork! Evelien really looked after us; what great craic, great knowledge and she helped us tailor the menu to our dietary needs. I was a bit freaked out to discover the wine pairing would be mostly natural wines which aren’t usually my fave - but she knows her stuff and has a lot of great choice. I really enjoyed all the wines in the end, even loved that she found a way to charm me into the natural wine movement lol. And the meal was sensational. So many beautiful ingredients, the freshest of seafood and produce. Everything cooked so skilfully and delicately, and some flavour and texture combos that will stay with me (in particular the smoked tomatoes with the lobster 🤤). We did the tasting menu and got the lobster extra - so glad we got to try it. Everything came out looking amazing, and the staff were really good at telling us all about each dish. Sometimes that kinda service level can feel a bit pretentious but here it just comes across that they love why they do. And the chef came to say hi for dessert which was a lovely touch. Seems a genuinely nice bloke. I have literally no constructive criticism for these guys - bunch of total legends. Love what you do.

The tasting menu is a must-try! Each dish brings out the purest flavors of each ingredient! Absolutely worth it experience!

Restaurant
Elbow Lane Brew and Smoke House in Cork offers a modern take on Irish cuisine, going beyond typical pub fare. The restaurant's open-plan kitchen features a wood-fired grill that infuses dishes with enticing smoky flavors. The menu showcases local ingredients, with standout options like low-smoked beef brisket croquetas and wood-grilled sirloin with smoked cascade butter.
We enjoyed an absolutely amazing evening. Our server was Flores and she was very kind and informative! Her recommendations on which foods to pair with the beers was excellent and very helpful. Matt was wonderful at getting us a table and helping us celebrate us being Newly Weds by sending us a glass of champagne. The food was GOOD! I would say you truly cannot go wrong and definitely order the pork belly and the ribeye!

I had my birthday in this beautiful place with wonderful people who serve you wonderfully well. I have no words to thank you. This day became wonderful with wonderful service and wonderful food. I would not recommend this place enough 10/100000000, that's why it's so busy. I've been trying to go to this place for over four months and it was worth all the wait. I can't wait to go back and I recommend it to everyone. As a good Brazilian, I love meat. I can say that the meat in this place is wonderful and of good quality. And the pork, please try the pork. Wonderful.

I am behind in writing this review as we visited in May, but I still think about our meal here! Perfect service, incredible food and drink and great vibe. Loved being able to watch the cooks do their magic, especially with the steaks. Brûlée a steak? Awesome! Everything is made in house, including their beers and the ice cream that I still dream about…Burnt honey & bourbon ice-cream, pecan & Korean chilli brittle 🤤 Definitely make a reservation while in Cork!
Heather F — Google review
It has already become one of our favorite restaurants in Cork. We usually go there on special occasions. Everything is always delightful—the service, the cocktails, the perfectly cooked and super flavorful meats… but for us, the real star of the night is always the dessert. It’s like tasting a piece of heaven! I highly recommend it to everyone.
Tayane T — Google review
Food very tasty and fresh. Had outside table. All waiters very friendly. When I got my tray of pint waiter explained me each pint. If you looking for a place with really good food that’s a place !!! Need to try if you are in Cork.

Visiting from Buffalo, NY, and this was hands-down one of the best meals I’ve had in Ireland! Elbow Lane Brew and Smoke House absolutely nails it — tender, smoky meats, fantastic in-house craft beers, and a cozy, inviting atmosphere. The staff is next-level amazing — special shoutout to Ryan and Joe for making us feel so welcome. Incredible flavors, warm hospitality, and service that’s second to none. A must-visit in Cork! Pro tip....don't skip out on dessert 👌

We had a wonderful evening with the folks in Elbow Lane which was operating a limited menu due to a recent fire. We loved every thing and we will be back. RECOMMENDED 👍 👍

Irish restaurant
Market Lane is a vibrant 2-floor restaurant and cocktail bar that offers a fusion of European and Modern Irish flavors. Located on Oliver Plunkett Street, it is part of the Market Lane group which includes other notable restaurants like Goldie, Elbow Lane, and Orso Kitchen & Bar. The restaurant's menu showcases traditional Irish ingredients with a touch of continental influence. It's a popular spot for both locals and visitors due to its ever-changing menu based on seasonal and local produce.
I had the Roasted Bacon Collar and it was amazing! It was very flavourful with the right amount of sweetness. Mashed potatoes and cabbage were great too! It was definitely a high-end take on a traditional Irish dish. Would recommend! Cocktails (especially Summer Derby) and service were great as well! Whenever I have friends going to Cork, will recommend this place to them!
Alden S — Google review
Hands down, the best meal of our 10 day trip. This was a recommendation from our Airbnb host. We didn't have reservations, but 2 seats at bar opened up and we nabbed them! We had a great time chatting with the bartenders and the folks sitting near us. The service was great but the Food was incredible! I had their corned beef and cabbage. I would go back if ever in Cork again! You won't be disappointed.
Shayna P — Google review
Beautifully designed restaurant with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are friendly, attentive, and make you feel genuinely taken care of. The food is excellent – fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. There are great vegan options too, which are creative and satisfying, not just an afterthought. Overall, a fantastic dining experience and definitely one of the best spots in Cork!
Davide L — Google review
I wanted to try a proper **bacon and cabbage** outside of Dublin, and Market Lane absolutely delivered — it was fantastic. The bacon was beautifully tender, served over creamy mashed potatoes, accompanied by cabbage and a smooth carrot purée. The flavours were comforting but elegant. My wife ordered **fish and chips**, and the fish was very fresh, light, and perfectly fried. It came with hand-cut chips, mushy peas, and a tasty tartar sauce — classic, but really well done. The atmosphere was lovely and lively. Despite it being **Jazz Festival weekend** and the city being packed, we were seated fairly quickly even without a reservation, which was a pleasant surprise. The **bartender was super polite**, adding to the great service overall. Highly recommended for delicious Irish food, great energy, and efficient service.

Service was very good. Servers were friendly and attentive. I thought the food would be a little better, but it wasn’t bad. Compared to the other places we’ve eaten while visiting Ireland this was towards the bottom. Prime location in the center of Cork. Nice place to stop by if you’re walking around the area.
Justin E — Google review
Lovely restaurant with nice layout and interiors. Great menu with lots of variation. Loved the monkfish and fish curry. Served by young friendly cork man. Very loud restaurant though, hard to hear conversation
Sarah M — Google review
Market Lane was by our hotel and the menu looked good, so we decided to check it out one night for dinner. It was a Tuesday, just after 7 and it was packed inside. Luckily, there was an outside table for the three of us, and they were able to accommodate a stroller. For drinks, I was looking forward to a Guinness, but they didn't have. So instead, I had the Angel stout, which was very smooth. It was a bit darker and a little more bitter than Guinness, but still good. For food, we had: -Chicken liver pâté, spiced plum chutney with sourdough toast - not sure if I really loved this one but the sourdough toast was good Glenbeigh mussels steamed in white wine, cream, celery and herbs with crusty baguette - I don't normally like anything with celery but I didn't taste it here, so it was fine. I liked the mussels. This kind was small, which I prefer to the giant ones found in the U.S. -Pan roast Ballycotton monkfish, garlic ratte potatoes, roast pepper purée, lemon salted green beans, smoked pancetta and almond crumb - the fish was cooked perfectly and tasted fresh, but the green beans could have used a bit more cooking time -Sirloin Steak (10oz) - my husband got this one since he wanted to try the beef in Ireland, and it didn't disappoint. Their steaks are served with mushrooms, house chips, shallots and choice of: peppercorn and brandy cream, whipped garlic butter or roasted pepper chimichurri. He picked the peppercorn and brandy, which was nice I really liked that they had a kids' menu and that there were no chicken tenders or pizza to be found on there. Instead, there were dishes like shepherd's pie, pasta Bolognese, and roasted chicken breast. They even had a baby bowl, which we ended up ordering for my 8-month old. It was a huge bowl of mashed potatoes, finely shredded chicken, with tiny bits of soft carrots. She loved it! It also came with a side of gravy, but we used that for ourselves. It tasted similar to the peppercorn and brandy cream that came with the steak. I really appreciated this menu item because I never really see baby food on restaurant menus, and this allowed her to be a part of our dining experience.

The food at this restaurant was amazing! The portions were generous, and everything was full of flavor. The best part was definitely the desserts — absolutely delicious! The service was also great — fast and very friendly.

Seafood restaurant
Goldie is a sophisticated restaurant in Cork that offers a diverse global menu with a focus on meat and seafood dishes. Executive chef Stephen Kehoe's innovative creations include smoked mackerel, pickled sardines, and steamed halibut, resulting in flavorful small plates. The main courses feature overlooked produce such as pan-seared red mullet with Churchfield vegetable escabeche. The staff readily provide wine or craft beer pairings from the sister restaurant/brewery across the street.
Goldie came highly recommended on social media and online and we were absolutely delighted to say it lives up to the hype. Everything was delicious and the chef has a masterful touch with flavors and textures and honors the local ingredients beautifully. Our server was helpful with recommendations and happy to answer any of our questions. Make sure to get a reservation as we noticed many people try to walk in and they had to be turned away. Prices were reasonable—particularly considering the quality of the ingredients and beautiful presentation. Everything was delicious (including the dessert) and this was the best food we’ve be had in Ireland so far. We also love the commitment of the chef to sustainability and minimizing food waste. 11/10 would recommend to anyone visiting cork who is looking for an excellent meal!

The food here is absolutely amazing. The fish was cooked perfectly and the sauce was superb too. Although I enjoyed every single dish, I particularly loved the cod fish! Service was also excellent, the staff were friendly and also put in the effort to explain almost every dish on the menu. Appreciate it! I would highly recommend this place if you are in Cork!

Amazing food, amazing service. Just great. The fish was all fresh and cooked to perfection, the staff were so welcoming and helpful. I recommend getting a seat at the counter to watch the chefs at work.

Absolutely outstanding 👏 One of the best meals of my life. This had been on my list to book for ages. Very warm welcome on arrival. Always great to see an open kitchen and watch chefs work in front of you. The food was stellar. Every dish perfect. I felt the prices were very good. The restaurant is priced similar to most bistros or restaurants in the city but is offering a quality that is on par with any high end restaurant in the country. Don't pass up the opportunity to book here. You will not be disappointed
Tim C — Google review
Located on Plunkett Street which is one of the many lively bar streets but on the good side (the other side of Plunkett is filled with vagrants and beggars) I canceled my other dinner once I was able to book a table here. Enter into a young woman chef who made her bones at Elbow Lane, her modern take a fish (seafood) forward restaurant that's ever changing based on the contents of the freshest catch. Not fussy but luxe. I requested bar seating so had front row view of the efficiency and attention to detail the kitchen staff took to everything from expedite to managing the front of house staff. Word to the wise their small plates showcase the immense talent of Aishling and her chef de cuisines: For my order : Taiwan fish nuggets; beautiful rendition on my childhood favorite Taiwanese popcorn chicken, which uses white pepper for nostalgia feel that always sparks joy. Goldie's take has more Indian spices which was lovely and the fish was fried to perfection, not greasy whatsoever. How Chef Anna didn't get the famous basil pop in the oil, I'll never figure out....perhaps that's why she gets paid the big bucks! Incredible technique. Cod schnitzel; gherkin and celeriac combo is one of my favorites with a twist by adding more Dijon mustard reminded me of my last trip to Lyon. Soy sauce cured egg yolk will add the additional saltiness the dish craves on anything fried. Pibil cod head & cheek sope; the sope was one of the best executions I've seen since Pujol's (MXC) version. How this dish doesn't become soggy and gross speaks to their talent. Main: pan roasted to perfection monkfish with beetroot achar, apple katkut - look my pictures. un fing real. Monkfish is seldomly seen in the states and when I do make it it's usually chopped up in congee with tons of ginger and scallions. Love this French? take of this ugly ass fish lol Fish tends to be a lighter option for dinner, so with any luck you’ll have room for dessert; i was completely stuffed by made the right decision in ordering caramelized white chocolate with the Achill Island sea salt and milk sorbet and the bucket wheat cracker. Unbelievable touch that was light air and not cloying. Whilst sitting at dinner I found out Chef Aishling was recently awarded Ireland's Best Chef 2024 and Goldie is listed as the #2 restaurant in Ireland's Top 100 restaurants. The Bib Gourmand rating is what brought us here, and they were absolutely correct. Chef Rob - expedition was exceptional. His command of the job came second nature to him, being able to manage several chefs and front of staff. Giving meaningful instruction without being overly dominant yet letting his young staff express their creativity is what talented Chefs do. Really appreciate him coming by to check up on me after the service. Chef Anna - plating was gorgeous and really appreciated her time expanding on each dish to me in person, such a lovely hospitality touch. This is totally an aside, but she was the most beautiful woman I've ever seen on my trip to Ireland. she's an absolute beauty. Front of staff was excellent - I showed up 30 mins early to my reservation but suggested I grab a drink over at Brennan's. Really enjoyed it!

Really thoughtful food, delicious and carefully prepared with style. We enjoyed the snacks and shared mains as well as the two desserts. It was all delicious, perfectly cooked fish, interesting influences and a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend, and definitely worth booking.

Outstanding! Innovative and inviting, the menu makes the most of local produce and puts seafood front and centre. Coupled with exceptional service (an appretation for Allen!) this is a must for the Cork dining scene.

Four of us ( 2 x male 2 x female) dined here recently in Goldies and found that it more than lived up to it high reputation for great food, wine and atmosphere. On arrival, we received a warm welcome and were immediately show to our table. Drinks were served very quickly while we read the menus. Our friendly Server was very knowledgeable regarding the food on the menu and the wine and she was well able to answer all our questions. Now, it was far from Seaweed & herb potato crisps, Cuinneog ranch, that any of us were reared on, but I suggest that you should try out this snack – it is very tasty! We then shared the Rossmore Rock oysters, shiso vinegar granita with fennel oil. One of our party never had an oyster prior to this, but with some gentle prodding, he was persuaded to have one which he enjoyed. Our main courses were all fish and each plate was excellent. We shared one serving of Sea salt shoestring chips and Crushed Colcannon of baby potatoes & green cabbage which was enough for the four of us. Being full at this stage, we ordered one serving – with four spoons - of the Caramelised white chocolate, Kinsale sea salt milk sorbet and buckwheat, which was delicious! Would we all return there again for a meal? A unanimous YES!

Jacques Restaurant is a beloved dining spot in the heart of Cork, serving up locally sourced cuisine for over 30 years. The menu features dishes made with fresh ingredients such as Cork cheese, beef, lamb, fish, and wild game when in season. The restaurant's cozy ambiance and Art Deco-style bar provide a relaxing escape from the city center. Locals rave about the delicious food that showcases the flavors of Cork with creative twists on traditional dishes.
Wonderful dining experience and friendly staff. The tomahawk is seasoned well and big enough to share. Extensive drink menu including low/no alcohol drinks and wines on tap. The affogato comes with a brownie and add-on liquor. Note that the online sample menu doesn't match the live menu so a few things were not on offer that we were hoping to try.

We went on a team night out and the place and atmosphere of this place is class. It might look very small at the outside but very big on the inside.Their servers was very approachable and accommodating as well. Food was ok for me. I would say my expectations were a little bit not met. For a 30-40 euro steak, I would have expected that the steak is at least seasoned which was not. The sharing platter as well was a little bit small for me. I expected at least a couple of meats and more cheese on a meat and cheese board but as you can see on the picture that’s their sharing board and you can see on the menu how much that is. My teammates enjoyed their veggie board and they were delighted with the taste. Their desert was great as well. Overall still a good experience. Just get your wallets ready as food can be pricey.
Paul B — Google review
Poor experience overall. Very loud, dark venue. Service fine but nothing special. Food very disappointing. Fish cake starter tastes frozen, bavette tiny portion, poor quality meat. Chips taste like they’re from a chipper and supposed to come with broccoli and came with ONE piece of tender stem broccoli. No steak knife given. Cauliflower main is absolutely tiny, should be a side/small plate. Desserts mediocre. Not worth a visit in my opinion.

We stumbled on this restaurant after not being able to get into a different one. It was a great find! The food was incredible, the staff was amazing, and they were extremely kid-friendly! They provided us with a great experience on a busy evening, getting us in quickly even though we did not have a reservation.

Expected more, however it was a good experience. The bartender, who happens to be our waitress as well, was polite and helpful. We had the crab arancini (not excited about those), the pork belly (good!), The stuffed mushrooms (good!), The duck salad (highly recommend!!!). Extensive cocktails and wines on the menu. Place was a bit empty but the atmosphere, the setting was very welcoming! I would recommend it!

This popular spot is known for its all-day brunch served six days a week until 5pm, featuring favorites like French Toast, Quinoa & Sweet Potato Fritters with Guacamole, Poached Eggs & Halloumi Crumb, Eggs Benedict, and Eggs Royale.
My experience at Liberty Grill was absolutely wonderful. The service was excellent—the staff was incredibly attentive, professional, and made the entire meal feel special. The food was also top-notch. Everything we ordered was prepared to perfection and tasted absolutely delicious. It's clear that they use high-quality ingredients and take great pride in their cooking. I can't recommend Liberty Grill enough. It's a fantastic spot for a meal in the heart of Cork, and I'll definitely be returning.

It was a good experience. This is a great brunch in town. Our dishes, the open chicken sandwich, the Irish Benedict, and the chocolate and cranberry French toast were delicious. I highly recommend this place if you want to be sure of a really good option for lunch or brunch in Cork. The value for money was suitable.

We had a lovely dinner at this place on Saturday, the food was delicious, and also the staff were friendly as well! Love they gave us some surprise for our anniversary dinner! Highly recommended!

One of the better meals we ate in Ireland. Staff were friendly and helpful, they easily accommodated our kid with a high chair and kids menu with crayons, and the food was delicious.

I was hungry and wanted a basic breakfast. Liberty Grill was busy but they had a nice table available by the window. I ordered scrambled eggs with sourdough bread and tea. The eggs were good, the sourdough bread was nice with some butter and the tea was amazing. The service was great and quick. The tea was brought to me right away. The food took a little while to arrive but drinking the tea by itself was nice. The music being played was soul and R&B not to soft and not too loud just right to enjoy my food. I will definitely come back for more food here.

Based on TripAdvisor's recommendation, my wife and I visited Liberty Grill for a special occasion, and it exceeded our expectations. The dishes were outstanding, the service was warm and attentive, and the whole evening felt memorable. Easily one of the best dining experiences in Cork!

Japanese restaurant
Authentic Japanese restaurant
Ichigo Ichie Bistro and Natural Wine is a renowned restaurant in Ireland that gained attention after receiving a Michelin star in 2019. The restaurant, known for its moody ambiance, offers diners the opportunity to watch owner and head chef Takashi Miyazaki prepare vibrant dishes using top-quality Irish ingredients and traditional Japanese cooking methods.
This is the pride of Asian cuisine, the finest Japanese dining experience here, and the place that best comprehends the essence of Japanese cuisine. It is a stroke of good fortune for Cork that with this great chef's presence, you have the opportunity to savor the most exquisite Japanese delicacies. I feel compelled to share this: most of the low-scoring reviews do not truly apprehend the soul of Japanese cuisine—they are, in fact, strangers to its depths. This is hardly just or reverent. For those unacquainted, abstaining from critique or choosing not to patronize would be more graceful than feigning expertise. I cherish this establishment through every iteration of its journey, and I hold in the highest regard the chef’s profound dedication to the delicate art of creating exquisite culinary masterpieces. I earnestly wish that the quality of reviews by Cork’s residents might be uplifted. Let us transcend ignorance and subjectivity, and refrain from offering casual critiques. While sharing your experiences, please honor the meticulous efforts of the restaurant with due respect.

Genuinely the nicest food I have ever had and I am fond of food. It was phenomenal from start to finish. The staff were very friendly and highly knowledgeable. Lovely atmosphere, ticked all the boxes. Will most certainly be returning!

Our experience at Ichigo was outstanding. We arrived pretty early in the evening on a rainy night, and were immediately seated in a cozy back dining room. It was very difficult to choose from both the regular printed menu and the chalkboard menu, but we ended up with 4 delightful dishes - a duck starter that was phenomenal, fried rice balls (massive and delicious), pork katsu udon (one of the specials) that was one of the best dishes we ate on our month long trip around Europe, and tempura shrimp with a very flavorful dashi broth. The short but thoughtful wine list yielded a nice Sicilian white, and we left very full and very happy. So glad we headed out into rain for this wonderful dinner!

I’ve been a loyal customer since the original Michelin-starred Ichigo Ichie, and I’ve returned six times since it transitioned to a bistro. Sadly, I have to say the experience has become consistently disappointing — especially in terms of service. The food is fine — average at best — but my expectations have always been shaped by the excellence of Miyazaki, the owner’s other restaurant, which continues to deliver exceptional food and truly warm, professional service. At Ichigo Ichie Bistro, however, the service is consistently cold, inattentive, and at times even rude. For a restaurant at this price point, that’s simply unacceptable — I’ve received much better treatment in far more casual places. What happened tonight made me finally write this review. When I politely pointed out that there was a bug in my wine, the staff dismissed it as “sediment.” When I asked for a fresh glass, it was served with visible tissue paper residue on the rim. When I raised that concern, the server responded with an eye roll, which completely ruined our evening. I’ve tried to give this place many chances out of respect and past loyalty — especially as a regular at Miyazaki. But unfortunately, tonight made it clear that the real issue isn’t the wine — it’s the attitude of the staff. I truly hope the team reflects on this. Cork deserves better from a restaurant with this heritage. (upload some of the photos I took before)

This restaurant is an airless casual wine & soba bar, not a fine-dining, high-end Japanese restaurant. No sashimi, sushi, or really anything that we were expecting. I reserved for the "main bar counter," about a month in advance as it is advertised as a chef's counter. It is instead a server station/overflow space where all we witnessed was three gals struggling to pour a pint. Menus are cheap paper with a long (tiny printed) specials board listed on a chalkboard. It is recommended to take a photo of these specials on your phone & "zoom in." We were not walked through anything despite saying it was our first time. I have never been asked to take a photo of something at an upscale restaurant in my life. Service was poor. Food was boring and expensive. For a bistro with a long list of specials, I would have expected to hear about a few of them. And for a wine bar, maybe a pairing could have been suggested. I would have rather spent our night in Cork anywhere else.
Katherine D — Google review
Too bad we missed the Michelin era of this restaurant, but in its current incarnation it still is undoubtedly one of the best Japanese restaurants in Ireland. I'm not a big cold soba fan normally, but now I'm a convert. The duck was sublime, and the cherry on top was a beautiful matcha panna cotta to finish the dinner. We will come back to Cork, specifically for this restaurant. This is in my top 3 Japanese restaurants in Ireland, in league with Matsukawa in Dublin and Wa Sushi in Galway.
Zung T — Google review
Before visiting Ireland, I did research on restaurants in Cork and I booked this Japanese restaurant weeks ahead because it is recommended by the Michelin guide, has positive reviews on Google and the food photos look great too. I have visited Michelin starred omakase restaurants in Tokyo, Kyoto and Fukuoka, and I would always book counter seating as it is usually where the actions take place. With this idea, I booked counter seating for me and my companion. Upon arrival, we were surprised to see that there was no chef behind the bar, not even a bartender… the chef came out twice but avoided eye-contact with us, which I found odd as it would be seen as rude in Japan. When we were given the menu, we were surprised not to see any sushi/ sashimi on it because we saw it in the photos on Google. My friend asked the waitress and she said they used to serve it, but now they no longer serve it. From the reviews and photos, we were misled to believe that it is a fine-dining restaurant, so it was a disappointment to see only soba/ udon/ donburi, all the standard fare in most Japanese restaurants. We ordered a duck dish to share, which was quite big but slightly chewy. My tempura soba was ok but the broth was too salty for my taste. However, my companion was very upset about her Karaage don because she said that her rice was soggy. Rice is crucial in Japanese cuisine, so this is basic stuff, and yet they did not get it right. The ambience was not lively even on Sat eve, though the staff were friendly, it was a disappointing dinner for us as we had high hopes for this place. Out of all the restaurants we visited around Ireland in 2 weeks, this was one of our least favourite and I think people need to check out their recent photos/ reviews rather than the ones left 5-6 years ago as it has changed immensely since.

Vegetarian restaurant
Vegan restaurant
Paradiso, previously known as Cafe Paradiso, has been a pioneering vegetarian restaurant in Ireland since its establishment in 1993. Located near the historic University College Cork, this award-winning venue offers innovative global vegetarian dishes made with local produce and organic wines. Chef Denis Cotter's vision was to elevate vegetables to become the centerpiece of each plate, using various techniques to create rich and complex flavors.
Cork long standing and outstanding Vegetarian restaurant, met sister and friends who are regulars for first visit, the ambience and dining room is intimate and warm, the welcome and service from the team is incredible, the sommelier guides you through a very well curated and delightful choice of wines with tough choices to be made with helpful and insightful suggestions and then of course the food, beautifully fresh and seasonal ingredients combined and cooked perfectly and paired with fantastic sauces that demand to be eaten and mopped up with the light and tasty bread provided, the set menu has a wonderful array of textures, hero vegetables and presentation is first class. I would definitely recommend the whole experience, food, wine and wonderful service Dave and the team provide for all customers, great job and thanks Team Paradiso 😃

What a place… only in Cork for two nights and we visited Paradiso tonight… we were blown away by the food, service and ambiance. The restaurant has the perfect balance of being fine dining, but still relaxed and not at all pretentious. We had six courses and they were all incredible… would happily come back to Cork just to eat here again. I’m not vegetarian but would rate the food here higher than 99% of restaurants that do serve meat. Would highly recommend for vegetarians and carnivores alike.

A tasting menu of six courses was superb, reminiscent of the Michelin-rated Anglo, formerly in Farringdon. Every course was felicitous, well-judged, full of various flavours and beautifully presented. The courses were served at the right pace and every one of the em was a pleasure. We were comfortably full by the end, and very impressed with the chef’s ingenuity.

My friend and I had made a reservation online. She arrived before me and was warmly welcomed, just as I was when I arrived. The staff were very friendly, explaining all the dishes and the wine pairings. They also accepted that I don't drink alcohol (many times I get strange looks because of it, so it was so nice that they smiled and accept it and make sure I always have enough water, thank you so much that!). The food was very, very delicious; I've rarely eaten so well! The restaurant was nearly empty, when we were done and they were about to close but the waitress was super kind. She chat with us and showed us all the different cookbooks and answered all our questions. All in all, an absolutely fantastic evening with delicious food. I'd love to come back when I'm in Cork and Irecommend it to all my friends and family! Thanks for this amazing evening!

They were kind to fit us in on a busy Friday night. Alessia was our server and very sweet. Cocktails were super fresh and had unique flavor profiles. I had the Side Hustle, and although it has Jalapeño infused tequila, the lime and agave cut the spiciness way down. The Chicken with Mushroom Risotto was a solid dish, could have used a bit more seasoning for my liking. Chicken was tende and juicy, the combo of mushrooms gave great texture to the risotto. The steak was a perfect medium rare and flavors were nice, however, I had a weird situation with my potato side dish. I switched the mash the steak came with for the Colcannon, a local dish that is mash mixed with fresh cabbage, at the servers recommendation. When the kitchen delivered the meal, I asked if these were the special potatoes, she looked confused, so I continued by adding "the ones with the cabbage?" She said she didn't know and rushed my plate back to the kitchen. After several minutes passed, our server came to check and I explained that I had just asked to confirm I had gotten the right side. Side said I confused her when I said special. 😐 They finally redelivered my meal, after several more minutes, while my husband waited for me, and the potatoes were stone cold. Alessia checked back and I told her the potatoes were very cold, and she said they are supposed to be warm and not hot. What?! This was pretty frustrating considering the food runner wasn't even sure what she was bringing to the table when I asked a simple question, and now I'm being told these ice cold potatoes are supposed to be like this?! This was so awkward, and I was ready to just leave. She returned shortly with steaming hot potatoes, which tasted pretty good. Overall, the evening wasn't ruined, but it definitely put a damper on it. Overall, good food, just don't say special 😉

Excellent service with incredible food. The venue was lovely and had an incredible view of the waterfall area. The staff were friendly and attentive even going above and beyond for our occasion. The cocktail specials were incredible and food scrumptious with hearty portions. Yummy!!!! 🤤 However, the starter menu was limited focusing heavily on fish/seafood, other options were generally limited. Even with this limitation I will certainly be making a return as what I got I genuinely cannot fault.

I cannot recommend this restaurant more. Had my wedding anniversary dinner there last night. The food was perfectly cooked, very tasty and presented professionally. We both had steak on a stone and we both loved it. Highlight though was a glass (or two!) of wine sitting outside in front of the waterfall, just a perfect ending to a perfect night. Thank you very much Ricardo and all the team for making our night so memorable.

Enjoyed a date night out here. A little higher end than most spots in Cork. Nice menu and plenty to choose from in terms of cocktails. They had Murphy’s on draft. The food menu had a combo option including appetizer and dessert, but we both just went with one dinner item. Both of us enjoyed our meal. Recommended for date.

Beautiful building, the interior is extraordinary. The food was lovely, it didn't take too long to arrive either. Lovely experience.

My fav restaurant in cork. Their food is incredibly good, visually appealing and it shows that they have a great kitchen team. The room staff is also incredibly nice, always smiling and attentive to the room and tables. The restaurant itself is a little bubble of peace and why not, art. The price is fair and they could potentially charge more, with this said, not a single dish they offer is bland. Their portion sizes are good and I have never left the restaurant feeling I had room for something else, sometimes even opting out of their desserts. Great wine selection, cocktails and spirits. I'm personally find if their gin mocktail. Jacob in the Mall is a must in Cork and you will regret not dining here.

We had our wedding reception for 120 people in Jacob’s on the Mall, and from our first meeting with Katie to walking out the door when the wedding day was finished, we experienced nothing but stellar service. The venue itself is absolutely stunning, the food was incredible and we had a truly unforgettable day. We wouldn’t change a thing. The staff were exceptional and all our guests have been raving about how great a day it was. Seamless from beginning to end. We can’t thank you enough!
Kate O — Google review
Food is delicious! I got the soup of the day, which happened to be a lovely carrot and turnip with cream. It had great consistency and the cream perfectly contrasted with the textured topping. The pan fried hake is always my go to, and it has never disappointed. Today, it was served with a tangy chickpea salad which paired beautifully with the milder and less overpowering flesh of the hake. Topped with a spinach and lime sauce, this was phenomenal. For dessert, I recommend the affogato. The expresso with vanilla ice cream is a great way to freshen up, especially after a heavy meal. Only lost points are for not offering tap water unless specifically requested. You will be charged an extra five euro for water otherwise, which seems a bit deceptive. Nevertheless, staff are always very accommodating and friendly. The starter bread itself is also one of my favourites on its own and is baked on site. Would definitely recommend! Edit: raised my rating to 5 stars as Jacobs really does stand out from everywhere else I've dined at in the last weeks!

Good food, good location, great service, what more could you want? This café/restaurant is located in the courtyard of a former monastery, accessible via some rather steep stairs. But climbing them is worth it, because Good Day Deli is a true gem. The small and modern hut offers indoor and outdoor seating, and as it was a sunny day, sitting outside in the sun was the best possible option. The brunch menu is rather small, but I'd say you'll definitely find something here. I opted for the pancakes that come with a hibiscus poached pear and coconut mascarpone. Not a big coconut fan but in combination and moderation it was good, and the pancakes were great. Wasn't too impressed with the price of their coffee, though. I was recommended to try this place by locals and it was the very first thing I did after arriving in Cork. Go and try their brunch, it's really an experience!

Nano Nagle Place was a really pleasant surprise. It’s this calm little spot right in the middle of Cork, with a beautiful garden, peaceful atmosphere, and a great mix of history and modern design. The restaurant there is cozy and stylish with big windows, lots of natural light, and a laid-back vibe. It’s quit a pricy place, but really nice one. Great for a quiet break, especially if you're already visiting the museum or just want a chill place to eat in Cork without the usual noise. Definitely worth dropping by if you’re in the area.

The English Market, located in Cork city center, is a historic market that has been operating since 1788. The majority of the buildings date back to the Victorian era and have undergone renovations over the years. After a fire in 1980, the market was ambitiously restored and received a conservation award. Today, it offers a variety of organic and locally produced food including seafood, butchers, poultry counters, Japanese food stalls, charcuterie stands, and more.
When I walked into the English Market, I experienced a sensory overload from what I was seeing, hearing, smelling and eventually tasting. I had been to a similiar open market in Athens, Greece the year before which affected my expectations. The English Market exceeded those expectations. From the stall with fresh olives, pesto and Irish cheeses, to the stall with fresh bread to the dessert bakery stall with fresh tortes, to the designer chocolates stall to the fresh produce stalls to the sandwich stall and all stalls in between, everything looked, smelled and tasted delicious. Had we been staying in Cork City we would have bought some fresh fish, beef or pork or maybe all three to cook for dinner. As it was, we were only in town for a few hours. So we bought as much fresh and prepared food as we could afford for a picnic later in the day. And what a picnic it was. It was our best lunch during our 14 day Irish vacation. If you are staying in Cork City or nearby, stop in for fresh ingredients for an evening meal. If you are there for a few hours, pick out your favorites for a quick meal. You won't be disappointed.

This place blew me away . The layout was intriguing fascinating and a pure delight for Any foodie like me . It reminded me in many ways of the markets in far off countries I have explored only much cleaner. With its side passages to explore with new delights to smell and treat you taste buds to . I loved the way the stall holders were happy to let you sample foods .and the jostling crowds were much more civilized than abroad . This place is a touch of heaven but beware you could spend a great deal here as i absolutely did 😉 NOT TO BE MISSED

Good place to visit if you want local and organic produce. Even had a merchant selling lots of vegan brands and a baker offering vegan pastries. We came here late (around 5.15pm and already most stalls were closed or closing down although it was said to be open till 6. If you have the time come visit but I'd not consider it a must-see attraction in Cork.

There are a lot of grocery shopping options and a number of lunch options. It was neat to see this historical market still hustling and bustling. A parking garage is a short 3 minute walk away. We just wished there were more options available to sit to enjoy the lunch we purchased.

Cool indoor market with the full gamut of meat, fish, vegetables, fruits, fresh baking, coffee, juices, sushi, you name it. Definitely worth a visit but be careful if hungry! The Farmgate Cafe is worth a visit (up on the balcony/terrace) if all the food on display gets the better of your appetite
Mike L — Google review
The English Market in Cork is a classic covered market right in the heart of the city, offering a bit of everything: meat, fish, cheese, sweets, and local specialties of good quality. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the place has a certain historic charm, with its traditional stalls and well-preserved Victorian architecture. It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in Cork, whether to pick up some Irish delicacies or to experience a slice of local life. That said, the market isn’t particularly lively or impressive compared to other major European markets — it lacks the vibrant mix of colors, aromas, and cultural variety you might find in larger capitals. In short, it’s a nice spot to see while in Cork, but not a must-see attraction for those who have already explored famous markets in cities like London, Madrid, or Paris.
Davide L — Google review
Came by on a Monday at around 2:30 AM, excited to try some food. Unfortunately, everything seemed pretty basic and overpriced, and there didn’t seem to be too many options. Instead, the stalls mainly sell produce, meat, cheese, and seafood, which would be great if you were a local, but we were just visiting. There are a few stalls selling things like candies/honey/jams, that were reasonably priced, so we bought a few of those to bring home as souvenirs. We spent probably about half an hour walking around and made it through the entire market. It was fun to walk around and see all the local goods/products, but don’t expect a lot of options for good food if you’re hungry.

The cozy interior adds to the inviting atmosphere of this award-winning restaurant.
Intimate space with lots of natural light and the lovely sounds of an open kitchen and pass with coffee bar and espresso machine whiring and moving about. The food is fresh and we'll thought out. The flavors and textures are clearly forward-thinking without being pretentious or "trying too hard." We had the Huevos Rancheros, Berry French Toast, Bacon French Toast, and the Smokey Royale. All were delicious. The smoked salmon with its delicious oils, paired nicely with the slightly acid avocado base on the toast and the lemon in the hollandaise. The Rancheros had a wonderful "western" flavor with very tender, not fatty, pork. The French Toast was pefect. Light and crisp with bright flavors.

Came here for the brunch menu and wasn’t disappointed. The French toast with bacon and maple syrup was absolutely delicious 🤤 one of the nicest I’ve had in the city, the bacon was cooked perfectly and cut into easily. The decor of the place was really nice too, with really friendly servers and overall clean. Will definitely be back!!

Delicious brunch! We had an issue with one of our meals, but the waitress and the manager dealt with it very professionally. I could highly recommend the brunch/breakfast menu – so much to choose from!

I went here for brunch with my partner while visiting Cork for a couple of days in July. The food was great but we had to wait for a good while to be noticed by the servers who seemed to be mostly teenagers. Maybe we were unlucky. I would come back and hope that the service level improves.

Incredible value for money. The service is friendly and detailed. The vibe and atmosphere is really nice, striking a balance of chill but also high quality. And the food! OMG! So delicious. Gf has duck legs & I had the pork pancetta for mains as well sharing the seafood plate for starters sharing. We were STUFFED! Excellent quality, full of flavor and goodness. Easy to eat & easier to enjoy! Just can't recommend the place enough tbh. Go there!!

Lebanese restaurant
Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Cork, Orso Kitchen & Bar is a delightful culinary gem that showcases the vibrant flavors of Mediterranean cuisine, particularly Lebanese and Moroccan influences. This contemporary café and bar, co-owned by Conrad and Judy Howard along with Tracey Corbett, offers an enticing menu that changes from day to night.
Had one of the best meals of 2024 in Orso last week. Absolutely stunning food, including top class plant-based dishes that would leave you wanting second helpings. Staff were efficient, friendly and so attentive. We were lucky to get the two seats at the counter inside the window vs opposite the door which could be a little chilly of a winter’s evening. Genuinely can’t wait to go back.

Amazing food, 10/10! Everything was well-prepared, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The place is small but very cozy — everything is new, clean, and well-organized. Service was also great, with friendly and attentive staff. Waiting time was totally fine, nothing excessive. Highly recommend! Definitely worth a visit.
Ana M — Google review
Amazing dining experience with a touch of Middle Eastern cuisine. The staff are very friendly and the space is welcoming. Highly recommend trying their house stone baked bread that resembles flat bread. Warm out of the oven, it melts in your mouth. The hummus was also amazing and one of the best we've ever had with real good olive oil on top. The chicken was the best we've ever had, tender, refreshing with the touch of lemon sauce and perfectly matching the crispy layered potato cake and the roasted pumpkin. Overall, an amazing combination. Regarding desserts, if you don't have a sweet tooth, I wouldn't recommend the white chocolate dessert. Instead, I would go for the Middle Eastern milk pudding, very mild, comforting to digest with rhubarb and hibiscus compote that gives it an acid but perfectly balanced touch. Perfectly light to digest the meal. All ingredients are locally sourced. We'll definitely go back whenever we're next in Cork.

Three of us popped in on a Tuesday evening. Our first experience. I have to say 5 stars is a perfect score for this wonderful eatery. As a vegetarian and meet eating group all needs were catered for. And may I say as the veggie of the group well done Orso. Delicious food. We sat at the bar as all the tables were occupied. Our lovely bar keep served flavoursome cocktails with aplomb. We will definitely make a return visit next time we are in Cork.

Cask Tapas Bar, located in Cork City's Victorian Quarter on MacCurtain Street, opened its doors in February 2017. The bar is housed in a beautifully renovated building with a rich history and offers a vibrant atmosphere that effortlessly combines style and creativity. Renowned cocktail consultant Andy Ferreira leads an experienced team that has made Cask an award-winning destination known for its innovative cocktails.
Stopped by Cask while in Cork and had a great experience. We ordered a Moretti and a cocktail—both well served and enjoyable. The bartender was friendly, knowledgeable, and took time to explain a few of the cocktail options, which added a nice personal touch to the visit. The venue itself is stylish and classy without feeling pretentious—perfect for a relaxed drink in a refined setting. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for quality drinks and great service in a polished atmosphere.

Great cocktails, by mixologists that know their stuff and who are happy to field questions. Was there at opening time on a Sunday, so didn't have to book, but seemed like there were a lot of bookings from 5pm. Small plates of food are outstanding - particularly the trout tostada. This place has it all. A must visit if you are into cocktails.

Marina Market, located in Cork city, is a large indoor and outdoor market that offers a variety of food and drink options. Despite not being a cafe, it provides coffee, cake, and other dining choices. The market has become a popular spot for families to spend time together with ample seating and space for kids and dogs.
Its great food spot. Such a variety of food stalls here! Lots of places to sit, including couches if you want to be comfy!! There's little birds that fly around and pick up any food you drop which is adorable (unless you don't like birds, then wouldn't recommend going here). Its a really nice place, the view from the marina is awesome as well. Also loved the little jewellery stalls and clothing stalls 🥰

Enjoyed our experience here. Loads of food trucks in a large warehouse with loads of good food to choose from. There's a bike hire place here, an events room, crafts room and a shop that sells various sustainable living products as well as deliciously locally made products.
Andrefan G — Google review
This is a very interesting place to visit if you are you young and like inedible highly priced food in a freezing cold warehouse. It was fascinating to check out the variety of foods on offer but the amounts were small and inedible. Leave this place to the youngsters its too noisy and cold for us oldies who like real food . Look by all means but find a nice warm restaurant to eat in .
Lynn C — Google review
Marina Market in Cork is such a fascinating place — full of life, great vibes, and an incredible variety of street food from all over the world. There are plenty of vegan options too! I tried the vegan fish and chips from Eco and it was absolutely delicious. Dogs are welcome, which makes the atmosphere even more relaxed and enjoyable. Definitely a must-visit spot in Cork!
Davide L — Google review
We drove over to Marina Market on a Tuesday at around 10 AM. Google Maps says that it opens at 8 AM but when we got there, most of the shops were closed. There were only a handful of stalls that were open, and they were mainly coffee places, a few stands selling arts & crafts, and maybe 2 or 3 food spots. The rest of the stalls were still preparing to open, so it seems like this is more of a lunchtime, evening spot. There is a parking lot but it was a bit difficult to find. You kind of have to circle around and when you see a huge open warehouse, you’ve found the entrance. It looks like a pretty cool hangout. As I mentioned, it’s a warehouse but they have a bunch of couches to lounge around on, and also have tables where you can eat your food. Even though most of the spots were still closed, we were able to see the menus and none of the food places really appealed to us as tourists, since all the food is something we can get back at home. But they do have a pretty good variety, so it seems like there is something for everyone.

One of the, if not the best food market in Ireland. Amazing choices, interesting and varied seating, there's something for everyone. The only "downside" is there's TOO many stalls to choose from that you'll end up spending more time deciding what to order!

Restaurant
The Farmgate Cafe, located in Cork's English Market, offers a culinary experience curated by Rebecca Harte. The cafe serves traditional Irish dishes such as stout rarebit, tripe and onions with drisheen, cottage pie, and cod with kale. The menu features local specialties like steamed Ladys Bridge potatoes and Oysterhaven oysters. The mezzanine location provides a perfect setting for morning coffee or afternoon tea while overlooking the bustling market below.
A delightful moment spent in one of Cork's iconic places: The English Market. The cuisine is delicious and carefully prepared, served by a staff of exemplary courtesy, attentive, responsive, and professional. I recommend the chicken supreme with lemon and fennel, and for dessert, the famous bread & butter pudding or Chocolaté Brownie. A place you can go without the slightest hesitation.

Cafe above The English Market. It was fairly busy when we arrived but staff were friendly and found us a table quickly. Some people arrived after us and requested a seat with a view over the market from balcony, which was accommodated. Ordered the Market cooked breakfast. Food was served promptly and was good quality.

Nano Nagle Place is a restored convent and gardens in the heart of Cork city, dedicated to the life and work of Nano Nagle, an inspiring woman from the 1700s who devoted herself to educating the poor. The place offers museum displays that showcase her remarkable achievements, including opening schools for underprivileged children and founding an almshouse for impoverished women.

Tatiana V — Google review
Wonderful exhibit and grounds telling the story of Nano Nagle, a nun who secretly taught the poor of Cork in defiance of the penal laws, her family's wishes, and social norms for women. Her powerful legacy of social justice extends into the present, and the exhibit is housed in the former convent that was home to her work. Absolutely gorgeous campus, gardens, and cemetery, and notably every part of the grounds and museum are accessible to wheelchair users via lifts. Accessibility is also extended via sensory kits and lightweight stools for anyone who might want a place to sit, among other accessibility tools. Children were also clearly considered with activities for them throughout the exhibits. All the staff were warm, knowledgeable, and welcoming. The gardens are free to walk through and are an immensely peaceful oasis with many opportunities to sit and appreciate the natural and architectural beauty of the surroundings. The museum tickets were affordable and well worth it. I highly recommend stopping in at the Good Day Deli and eating outside. The food is phenomenal, mostly vegetarian, mostly local, and the view of the garden is a beautiful setting for a meal. The staff at the cafe were wonderful.

Authentic Japanese restaurant
Miyazaki Japanese Take Away is a renowned spot in Cork, offering authentic and top-notch Japanese cuisine. Located on Evergreen Street, this tiny eatery has gained a reputation for serving some of the best Japanese food in Ireland. Chef Takashi Miyazaki's social media showcases vibrant dishes made with local and exotic ingredients, along with a constantly evolving menu featuring daily specials.
Came here together with my friend and partner and we ordered three different dishes. I ordered the January special (Kimchi Porkbelly Ricebowl with natto and soft boiled egg). It was a very generous portion size and super tasty. I personally LOVE natto, that’s why I wished there was a bit more natto. I think it was just a teaspoon or less (but maybe it’s because Irish people are not used to the taste). My partner ordered a Karaage Don which was our personal highlight! So so good. Super crunchy and juicy and the spices were just perfect. My Japanese friend ordered Udon and paid extra for Natto and unfortunately this is the only dish we cannot recommend. The portion size was surprisingly quite small for the price and also the noodles texture was not great. Also, she paid 2€ extra for natto (on request) but got only a small teaspoon on top of her bowl. That was a little bit disappointing. The soup base was very delicious, though. Overall I still rate this place with five stars with the hope that there will be some changes for the Udon dish and to highlight their great rice bowls! Will definitely come back again next time when I’m in cork :)
Ajumi H — Google review
One of my total favourite restaurants/ take-aways in cork. Every dish is always so delicious with such unique flavours. It’s small so you never know if you’ll be able to sit, but I’m always happy to get takeaway instead - so delicious. The aged dashi tofu is my favourite!
Mirin M — Google review
Really good rice on the onigiri- the size is gigantic!! The gyudon needs work, the flavors are there and the portions are nice but needs to add that raw egg for a silky texture.
Sun L — Google review
GET THIS AS TAKE AWAY AND GO EAT IT INTO O'SHO. The food is absolutely amazing, best I've had. The interior consists of a few bar chairs, so I reccomend bringing it across the street to O'sho, grabing a beer and you will be much happier.
Šimon V — Google review
Easily the best Japanese I've had in Ireland. Fantastic katsu don. Proper ratios of authentic, delicate flavors using tasty ingredients that taste the part as much as they look it (unlike so many other shops with notions). Grab your food and go around the corner to eat at the free Elizabeth Fort's picnic tables, instead. I suppose if I'd ding anything it would be the very un-Japanese demeanor of kitchen staff, but what can you do, this isn't Japan lol. Also, wish there was a more environmentally friendly option for this kind of takeaway.
Darren L — Google review
The grilled fish has a tender texture that creates a delightful melting effect when eaten, providing a rich and flavorful experience.. Authentic Japanese cuisine is a must-try. Tonkatsu is fine but nothing special. Portion is huge.

Me and my boyfriend booked into Da Mirco for his birthday and couldn’t have had a better experience! We rang ahead to ask about vegan options and they said they would be able to make something vegan if we mentioned it in the notes of our online booking 🌱 The service was amazing, checking in just the right amount. They made me a vegan starter of foccaccia with pickled and roast veg on top - delicious! Vegan main they offered a few pasta dishes or risotto, I went for mint pesto pasta with crispy fried courgette on top. They also have vegan lemon sorbet for dessert. 🤩

We were in Italy for 5 weeks this spring and had very very good food. But nothing compared to the taste of the food here! I was Shocked how tasty it was. Even the said we had was over the top. It’s a very small place so get Reservations! There isn’t an a la carte menu here. So understand that. You will not be disappointed with the food. The only thing I missed was the main pasta dish didn’t come with bread to sop up the delicious sauce! But bread did come with the salad and it was something special.

Nestled in the heart of Cork City, Izz Cafe is a delightful culinary gem that showcases authentic Palestinian cuisine. Founded by the Alkerajah family, who transitioned from navigating Ireland's asylum-seeker system to establishing a beloved eatery, this cafe offers an array of mouthwatering dishes. Their menu features delectable manaeesh—Palestinian flatbreads—stuffed with flavorful ingredients like chicken and sweet braised red onions.
I had lunch at Izz Cafe and the food was delicious. I started with the tasters mix — a flavorful appetizer that is perfect for sharing (up to 4 people maybe). It had a nice variety of spreads, specially the Babaganoush and beetroot hummus, with rich flavors and tasted great when paired with the restaurant's fresh and soft bread. I ordered the Magloubeh for the main dish and it had a nice mix of ingredients and spices. The portion was also decent. I recommend making a reservation in advance to avoid waiting times, which can be long, because the place is usually full.

When I found out about your café I immediately added it to my family's itinerary for our Ireland visit this summer. My Mother, Father, and I visited your café for dinner this evening at my urging. I am thrilled to say this lived up to the hype. We thoroughly enjoyed the Taster's Plate, Chicken Mousaken, and Beef lamb. The Palestinian coffee was exceptional. We especially loved the Warbat. So sweet and flaky. You lived up to the hype! I wish you all the best. It was a real pleasure.

Izz Café offers a fantastic introduction to authentic Palestinian cuisine. Their picnic box is a great option for first-timers—it includes a delicious selection of manaeesh, hummus, and drinks, making it easy to sample a variety of flavours. We also tried the Palestinian coffee, which was absolutely delightful. It’s a place we’ll definitely keep coming back to!

Fantastic authentic Palestinian food! Wasn't sure about that but had the chicken and rice and it was fantastic! Did the taster and tried all of the different hummus' and my wife loved the soup! Finished it off by sharing a piece of saffron cake! I was so full I couldn't fit through the door on my way out!

Fishy Fishy Kinsale is a simple restaurant that prides itself on serving locally-caught seafood, with a personal touch as they know the fishermen by name. It is part of the Kinsale Good Food Circle, ensuring quality and diverse cuisine. The restaurant is highly recommended for its steamed local lobster served with mustard cream and silky smooth mash, making it a must-visit spot for seafood lovers.
The fish was very fresh, and the server well-informed about the fish origins, what each dish was, and was able to answer our many questions with ease. The food was served really fast, and the waitress was friendly and attentive. Lots of families with and without kids. A really lovely atmosphere of a local joint.

OMG, amazing fresh fish! My partner, who doesn't usually prefer fish, enjoyed it so much. The fish soup was okay, but the scallops and tuna were out of this world!

There was a little bit of a wait to get a seat, obviously high demand, but it made absolute sense for a gorgeous day on a bank holiday weekend. The staff were incredible, tenantative and it felt luxurious. You were always taken care of. The food was fresh and tasty, I had the fried haddock! Dessert was a great addition to the end.

We had a fabulous experience last Saturday. All of the dishes were so tasty, fresh and delicious. Quite reasonable for the quality of the food and a really clean and beautiful restaurant. I’m sorry I can’t remember our servers name, she had brown hair and a short name, early 20s - a really friendly gal with great recommendations. Thank you :)

Fantastic food and service. We really enjoyed our meal especially the fish and chips and the lobster. Not overly cheap but worth every penny!

A terrific lunch stop. The hot oysters were great and tasted very fresh. The fish pie was new to us which was delicious and filling. Everything we ordered was great.

Came on a recommendation and could immediately tell that FF was a tastefully decorated spot with some cheeky touches for a late lunch/early dinner. The waitstaff was very attentive, although one server was a bit offish. Food came out very appetizing. Loved the fresh oysters, and the candy wrapped butter and bread. Oh sooo good! Scallops were just ok on this day, but overall it was a nice experience.

Restaurant
Quinlans Seafood Bar in Cork is a vibrant hub that promises an unforgettable experience, especially on weekends when live music fills the air. With bands like Blue Fusion and Clockworks taking the stage, it’s the perfect spot to unwind and dance after a concert. The atmosphere is lively yet cozy, making it an inviting place for all visitors. Known for its locally sourced seafood at reasonable prices, Quinlans has become a must-visit destination for seafood lovers traveling from near and far.
Absolutely incredible! We didn’t have a reservation but we got seated right away in the late afternoon for lunch. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The pan fried salmon was gorgeous- perfectly cooked fish and refreshing salad and cous cous that came with it. Highly recommend!! The black sole on the bone was very good, though pricey at €40 (market price). It came with a few potatoes but no greens so we ordered the side of market vegetables. Overall very happy with our meal! Would definitely come back.

I noticed this seafood restaurant was pretty popular, so I stopped by for lunch. I ordered a half seafood chowder and a half sandwich, but the portions were much smaller than I expected. The menu said the sandwich could be shrimp or smoked salmon, but the shrimp was sold out, so no choice there. Luckily, the smoked salmon was really good—definitely a nice surprise! The seafood chowder, even as a half portion, was tiny and way too salty. I usually love seafood chowder, but this one was a bit overpowering. The service wasn’t great either. I asked for a recommendation, and the server seemed impatient and cold. Even when other customers sat nearby, the same cold, short attitude continued. Really a shame.
Carrie G — Google review
Everything was great but just quite pricey. We ordered calamari and seafood chowder for appetizer, I'd say small serving for the price but very good quality. For the mains I ordered fresh rigatoni pasta and it was delightful. A bit heavy because of the sauce but very flavorful.

We tried to come here on a Saturday night during Jazz Festival, but that was impossible. So we made reservations for Sunday night at 7:30. We arrived right on time. We waited a few minutes while they cleaned our table for us. They were PACKED! There were a lot of items on the menu that I wanted to try. The scallops, the mussels, the crab legs, the lobster. I settled on the baked crab legs. My husband ordered the main mussels for his meal. He ordered a Spanish red wine. He loved the wine! It was excellent. The mussels are a very large portion, he gave the portion an “A”. But the mussels themselves were a “B-“. Not the best he’s had. The sauce was unfortunately a “C”. Usually when you order mussels the sauce is the best part of the dish, but this was not the case. First, there was very little sauce. Second, it had a weird flavor to it. I tried it and I did not like it at all. So, he was pretty disappointed with his meal overall. The crabs were excellent! Five stars for the crabs, the sauce, and the bread! They came out very hot, so I peeled all of the meat out of the claws while it cooled down. I dipped the bread in the sauce. It was delicious! I ordered a Sauvignon blanc with my meal. It was ok. Not my favorite. Our server was nice. They were super busy so there were a few issues- like nothing to clean our hands with after handling the buttery shells and claws. I also thought that I should have had a small tine fork to get the meat out of the crab claws. But, again, the service was good. Altogether our bill was about €76. We would return. I’d like to try the scallops or lobster and my husband wishes he had ordered the seafood linguine instead.

I made a reservation here at Quinlan's on 17th September 2025 based on Google reviews. I was not disappointed. The place looked and smelled amazing. I was seated by the kitchen so I could see the chefs busy at work. The head chef was very friendly and said if I needed any advice just ask. The waitress was also very friendly and with hers and the head chefs advice I went with the Dingle Bay wild squid for the starter which was amazing and such a good portion, possibly the best portion of deep fried squid I've had before. For the main I went with one of the specials, monkfish wrapped in pancetta with scallops. Oh my god that meal was amazing and well worth the €38 for that course. By the end I had hardly any room left so I just had a single scoop of ice cream. Overall the staff and food were amazing. Thanks again to the head chef for being so friendly and informative.

If the opinion an Americans is worth anything, this is the best you will find between here and Dublin. I’ve eaten seafood in Boston, New Orleans, San Diego, and Seattle, so I feel like I have some experience to go by. If want first rate food, service and atmosphere at a reasonable price, Quinlans has it all. We had the haddock fish and chips and the Seafood Stew and Smoked Salmon Open Sandwich. FRESH, FRESH, FRESH. If we ever make it back to Cork, we will be returning!
Shawn M — Google review
Very friendly and efficient staff, the ambiance was really great and the restaurant looked stunning from inside. However I was quite disapointed by the meal, especially considered how much it costs. I had deep fried squid as a starter. Even though it might be locally catched, 15€ for that little amount of cooking technic feels a bit much. I then had the squizzling kind prawns, they were over-salted and cooked in a bland garlic-red-paprika broth. The french red wine "Les Chaises" was also quite disappointing, the kind of Merlot you could have for 5€ a bottle in french supermarkets but in this case it was 8€ a glass. Overall, very overpriced and overrated (to me). But other ratings are great so I guess I got unlucky.

The Franciscan Well Brewery & Brewpub in Cork is a historic establishment with a medieval ambiance and an expansive garden. It's renowned for its own micro-brewery, offering a wide selection of beers including the popular Rebel Red. The pub has recently expanded its beer garden and added specialty cocktails to its menu, catering to diverse tastes. With live music, beer festivals, and cultural events, it's a vibrant spot for locals and visitors alike.
We got married here yesterday and it couldn’t have been more perfect! The owner, Michael, is really lovely and made sure that everything run perfectly. He helped us a lot both in the lead up to the event and throughout the day 😊 Thank you so much, the beer garden is beautiful and the pizzas absolutely delicious!

One of the best pizza’s in Cork! Friendly service and very helpful staff! Amazing beer garden (most of it covered, so if it rains, don’t worry) And the beer… 🍺 it’s simply delicious (they do tasting paddles €10 for 4 small glasses), 2 onsite brews. Have non-alcoholic beer & cider.

Franciscan Well Brewery – absolute perfection in Cork! What a fantastic spot! The atmosphere was buzzing, the staff were friendly, and everything just hit the mark. The pizza was so good we couldn’t resist going back for seconds — crispy, flavorful, and fresh from the oven. The beers were top-notch too, perfectly brewed and full of character. It’s the kind of place you could happily spend an afternoon (or evening!) just soaking up the vibes. A must-visit in Cork! 🍕🍺

They don't serve food (there is a pizzeria for that) but they have a big selection of draught handcrafted beers. The staff is super friendly and they let us taste a couple of beers before choosing one. We had to restrain ourselves to not drink too much, but in other circumstances this place is worth a loooong visit to taste everything. The place itself was very nice with a lot of Halloween decorations and it shows how much love the owners put inside every detail of this pub.

Did the brewery tour with a lovely girl Sìna, said it was her first week doing the tours but she did great and even chatted to us about other things like the pub being haunted and beers to try in the area. Highly recommend!!!

If you’re in Ireland and you’re trying to forget what you just paid for a rental car, may I suggest Franciscan Well Brewery. The bartender is such a lovely lady with an Irish accent that makes you want to bring her back home with you. They let you sample all of their beers until you find just the right one. Might I suggest the Rebel Red. Couple of them and soon you’ll forget all about the insurance you had to buy from the rental car company. The vibe was perfect too. There is outside seating where you can actually have a conversation and hear. And to top it off, Pompeii Pizza is right there. Probably the second best pizza I’ve had in my life!!! So quit him hawing around and get yourself over there! You won’t be sorry!

Hamburger restaurant
Restaurant
Located in the heart of Cork, Son of a Bun has quickly become one of the city's most popular burger joints since its establishment in 2015. The restaurant prides itself on serving the best homemade burgers, along with other menu items such as sauces, chicken wings, salads, and desserts. They offer great service and a family-friendly environment with amenities for little ones. Customers have praised their delicious chicken burgers, angry fries, and nachos while appreciating the top-notch quality and generous portions.
We ate here one Friday evening after a 40 minute wait for a table. The place was extremely busy but the service was still reasonably quick. The food was really good. Our only issue was that we ordered too much of it (mac & cheese is quite heavy as a side dish). Thankfully the staff were able to package some of my wife's unfinished salad to take away.

Son of a Bun is an excellent burger restaurant in Cork, known for its juicy burgers and friendly atmosphere. They also offer some great vegetarian options (though not vegan), making it a good choice for different tastes. The quality of the food is consistently high, and everything feels freshly made. Just keep in mind that they don’t take reservations, so on weekends you might have to wait a little — but it’s definitely worth it!

Son of a Bun is absolutely top-notch! Every time I’m in Cork, this is a must-stop spot. The burgers are next-level — juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The vibes are fun and welcoming, the staff are always upbeat and friendly, and everything from the fries to the milkshakes hits the spot. You can tell they take real pride in what they do. Easily one of the best burger places in Ireland!

I am currently here from the States for work. I waited 30 minutes until they opened up. It was well worth the wait! I got The One (no mayo and with cheddar instead of American)with the fries with skin on them which the recommended. Both the burger and fries were so good! Waiter was cordial and good atmosphere. I highly recommend Son of a Bun. Can’t wait until my next visit.

We came here for a family meal recently, there was 4 adults and 3 kids. We all ordered burgers and sides, followed by desserts. The food is absolutely delicious here and the staff are so friendly. There's a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The only downside is having to wait for a table but I guess it's because the place is so popular and rightly so... So having said that, it is definitely worth the wait, and hopefully we'll get back there soon!
Trish L — Google review
Another recommendation from the great staff at the Residence Inn. We went here on a Monday and honestly this was not our first choice but lots of places were closed. We were trying to had and should have picked Son of a Bun earlier! I got a "normal" burger. You wouldn't know from the picture but under that half head of lettuce was an awesome paddy. Dont get me wrong, I like lots of lettuce and tomato on my burger! We ended up splitting the fries and that was a good call because they were a LOT. SO got a Portobello mushroom burger and it was MASSIVE. Service was fast and excellent. Note - this is a loud location. Fun and energetic but loud. Not hurt your ears loud but dont expect to acquire some zen. Great food, great price and great service. Recommended.
Rob S — Google review
I don't usually give 5 stars but damn those burgers hit the spot. The kimchi one was spicy and tasty, the taco one with fried peppers was perfectly seasoned, the S.O.B was generous and good and the waffle one was very good with the sugary salty flavors. For the sides, the Mac and cheese was very good and the fries crispy. The only thing I'd have to say is that it's very loud inside.
Chloé M — Google review
Really good burgers that are huge! Fries are a side rather than included in the burger price, and to be honest, we probably didn’t need them. We had the burger of the month which included white pudding 🤤 The vanilla milkshake was one of the best I’ve ever had 👍

This charming eatery is surrounded by other culinary gems like Cre French and the innovative Glass Curtain. Isaacs offers an inviting atmosphere where guests can indulge in both lunch and dinner menus that highlight Irish cuisine. With dishes such as seafood chowder and Skeaghanore confit duck, every meal promises to be a delightful journey through local flavors.
The best restaurant in Cork in our opinion. We go there every time we're in Cork. It's the kind of restaurant that you go to knowing what you want to order but then you see the specials it makes the decision so hard. Particularly love the scallop salad. It's amazingly good. The thick cut chips are like little roast potatoes. The lamb curry, burger, crab salad and the monkfish goujons are also a favourite. Always good atmosphere too.

This place was almost perfect. To start with, they have a great wine selection, with many different options for you to choose from. My husband and I both got the 10oz Sirloins, my steak was cooked a perfect med rare. However, my husband ordered his medium and it came out well done. They were super busy that night, so he powered through it and finished his meal. We were starving and didn't want to wait for another steak to come out. Other than that, the sides were all perfectly seasoned and the desserts were to die for. I definitely suggest getting the chocolate St. Emilion.

Superb dining experience from start to finish. The restaurant itself is quite understated, but very elegant. Staff were all welcoming, friendly and attentive - without being overbearing. But the food was the real star of the show; I had the Vegetable Curry - which was excellent. My son and daughter-in-law thoroughly enjoyed their choices too. The soda bread (which I believe they make themselves) was by far the best we’ve had during our entire trip to Ireland. And trust me when I say that we ate a lot of soda bread! Highly recommended, and I’d advise you book in advance, as this place is always busy!

We'd only just arrived in Cork when we decided to have dinner here; however we hand't made a reservation so we were prepared to go elsewhere if necessary. The woman who greeted us said she'd check if we could have a table, as they had several reservations and they were preparing for a massive group of teachers to arrive (celebrating the end of the school year). She walked around the entire restaurant with her seating chart, counting and calculating. We were thrilled she was able to seat us, and even with such a huge group coming, our service wasn't affected in the least. We felt very taken care of and our meal was delicious. Once those teachers did arrive, though, the decibel level rose incredibly. With brick walls, high ceilings and open areas, there's nothing to really absorb the sound. So when it's packed with an enthusiastic very large group, it can get loud. But overall I'd say it was a very pleasant dining experience, we truly appreciated getting seated without a reservation, and our meal was great. I'd go again in a heartbeat.

We had high hopes coming in, and while the food was actually quite nice, the experience was let down by poor service and a terrible cocktail. The drink we ordered arrived without a head, full of small bits of ice, and completely the wrong colour—it looked and tasted nothing like what it should have. It honestly seemed like a pre-made mix that was just shaken and poured into a glass. We ended up sending it back, but were still charged for it, which felt unfair given the quality. To top it off, no one checked on us during our entire visit. Disappointing overall, especially considering the potential.

My family and I were traveling through and hoping for a little hit of authentic Mexican flavor. With a motto like “a taste of Mexico” and “authentic Mexican cuisine,” I was optimistic. After all, I’ve lived everywhere from the East Coast to the West Coast of the U.S., spent a few years in Texas (for context, not a fan of Tex-Mex), and even crossed the border into Mexico a few times—so I was ready for something familiar. Unfortunately… this wasn’t it. I’m honestly not sure what part of Mexico this food claims to represent, because the flavors didn’t match anything I’ve had. It tasted a bit more like if an Italian and a Mexican got married, raided the pantry, and stirred spaghetti sauce into the beans. My daughter, ever the food philosopher, argued it was actually Indian fusion. Either way, it wasn’t quite the experience we’d hoped for. Maybe we should have stuck to the little taqueria we saw down the street. On top of that, the service left us feeling a bit invisible. We don’t drink much, so after we were seated and our food arrived, we basically didn’t see anyone again for about half an hour—no water refills, no “is everything okay?” Meanwhile, other tables around us were getting checked on regularly. And hey, we’re a fun family! We would’ve happily chatted. Oh, and the glassware… yikes. One of the glasses had stuff stuck to both the outside and inside. When I asked the waiter for a clean one, he just walked over and swapped it from another table. I couldn’t help but feel bad for whoever got stuck with that trade. All in all, Café Mexicana has a cool vibe, and maybe it hits the spot for some. But for us, it was a bit of a letdown. Here’s hoping the next stop on our travels serves up a little more of the authentic flavor we’re craving.

Went here for my GFs birthday it was really good. Let me start by saying we sat right at the door when you walk in downstairs , good seats, but the woman serving was on her own. It took 45 mins from when we walked in to the restaurant until when we get our food. The only complaint about the food is the Chimichanga was a little bit cold in the middle but it was still super tasty! The Dynamite nachos were very spicy. Ribs were superb, chicken wings were a bit crispy but still very good

I’m the kind of person who always tells my friends about good places, and that’s what I did after going to Cafe Mexicana. The service was great, the food was really good, and the drinks were delicious. I really liked it!
Ana C — Google review
I want to say that the food has met our culinary expectations, the atmosphere is cozy and full of culture, even considering the music that transcends and walks between folklore and the most recognized for Spanish speakers, since it was a great detail, without a doubt they made us feel at home despite the great distance from Chile 🇨🇱. Finally, I would like to mention that we were served by a beautiful, kind and warm woman named Alba who with her charisma brought us several smiles and made the evening even better 🫰🏻

The food is lovely, the chicken wings are delicious. The baked potato as a starter was good too but it would have been nice to get a whole potato not a half one. Mains were Carne Asada and chicken tacos both very nice.

Fine dining restaurant
Bastion in Kinsale is a renowned restaurant known for its exceptional dining experience. The establishment has received high praise from visitors, with particular emphasis on the outstanding food and service. The chef, Paul McDonald, hailing from Glasgow, showcases his culinary expertise by skillfully enhancing the flavors of various ingredients. From cooking carrots in carrot juice to poaching trout in olive oil and serving it in tomato water, every dish reflects a meticulous attention to detail.
Dinner was a truly memorable experience. The staff were warm and attentive, and every dish was exceptional, beautifully prepared and presented. It absolutely earned its Michelin stars. We came for a special occasion, and the team made it even more special. Thank you for an unforgettable evening!

Absolutely the best Michelin star restaurant I have eaten at. Paul and Helen and their food is amazing.
Marc M — Google review
We had an amazing experience enjoying the tasting menu and honestly regret not going for the full menu — every bite of every dish was unforgettable. This isn’t our first time having a tasting menu, but this one was truly exceptional. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, carefully explaining each dish and making the whole experience even more special. We’d definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience!

An absolutely wonderful restaurant. I went to Bastion for dinner this past Saturday evening and cannot praise it highly enough. The space is intimate and comfortable, appropriately elegant for a Michelin-starred restaurant without feeling overly formal. We shared the space with 5 other tables who all sat at 7pm, and we were all served the tasting menu at the same time, making for a nice communal experience. Each dish was artful, full of complex flavour, perfectly balanced. We also opted for the wine pairing and would highly recommend it. The meal was an adventure, with each dish and wine explained to us with great care. A special mention must be made of the proprietors, who took such care to treat each customer like their guest. Helen's knowledge and enthusiasm for wine was infectious, and Paul's friendly presence outside the kitchen to explain his beautiful dishes was a very nice touch. Both owners really made the evening, particularly Helen very kindly offering an extra bit of dessert with a candle for my birthday! They are genuinely warm, friendly people who have a very clear passion for what they do. An incredible restaurant experience all round, and certainly not to missed.

Superlative. Chef Paul, and restauranteur/sommelier/hostess Helen, have cultured a pearl in the heart of Kinsale. My wife and I experienced the artistry of the tasting menu and a flight of fine wine assembled exclusively for the revelatory enjoyment of their diners. Fresh, local, ingredients and global wines come together immaculately to take you on a journey through seafood, game, and the land. The highlight above all, in my opinion, was the clearly refined rabbit dish packed with umami and gamey goodness, and not overpowered by a delicately chosen red (that I won't spoil). The pricing is as expected for European fine dining at a one Michelin star restaurant. Altogether we paid less than €500 for two, including the wine pairing. This is exceptionally reasonable for the quality and service. This is a restaurant on the course for another star should the service tighten appropriately. Helen's warmth is not diluted by her knowledge and confident style, which is a hard act to pull off. There is just a gap between one and two stars in terms of service expectation, but in my opinion the propriety and Scots-Irish charm of Bastion is closing the gap at pace. Chef Paul treads the fine line of innovative gastronomy and "reliably appetising food" with circumspect judgement. He has honed dishes which challenge taste and texture while pleasing the eye, nose, and mouth like the best of mammy's home-cooked fayre. Bravo!
Karl N — Google review
What an incredible experience we had on Saturday night! Everything about it was just perfect. The food was absolutely exceptional! We ended up going for the wine pairing, which I would highly recommend. It really takes everything to the next level. The attention to detail was unbelievable and the staff were incredibly kind, welcoming and attentive. I would highly recommend if you're looking for something to remember 🙂

What can I say but sublime. Nestled in the heart of Kinsale, Bastion was one of the last places I had to tick off the Michelin list and by god did it deliver. The wine list was excellent and the food and service sublime. Attentive but not overwhelming. The food, well sourced and wonderfully prepared truly an excellent display of localized contemporary food presented impeccably. Wholeheartedly recommended to anyone nearby - or even further afield. This restaurant will not disappoint in truly displaying the wealth of culinary talent and produce access that Cork has available to it.

Quirky bar with lovely selection of tasty dishes, which could be snacks or full meals. We visited twice and had pork belly with black pudding, a version of patatas bravas and a meat/cheese board. Drinks took a while to come at one point, but otherwise service was great - including alerting us to a better table becoming available.

Nestled in the heart of Cork, Cork Coffee Roasters is a beloved café that has been delighting coffee enthusiasts for over two decades. With its charming vintage decor and warm ambiance, this inviting spot features wooden tables bathed in natural light, creating the perfect environment to relax or catch up with friends. What truly sets it apart is its commitment to small-batch coffee roasting, ensuring every cup served is of exceptional quality.
Exceptional café with perhaps the best coffee in Cork city, hence why they have multiple outlets. This one has a cozy feel and decent seating - the window seats are especially nice. Staff are always friendly and the sweet snacks on offer are decent quality.
Ben B — Google review
This review is about sustainability only! 🙂 I’m so grateful to have found this coffee shop in Cork, and was especially pleased to see that you offer real, reusable mugs to customers who asked for them. That said, it seems that many customers in-house did not know about the available reusable mugs. Maybe there is more you can do to easily communicate this option to those who may be interested. Perhaps that means having barista‘s ask customers directly if they want a mug for here. Or maybe that means featuring real mugs on your social media, or somehow incentivizing or promoting the use of usable mugs, that people either bring on their own or borrow from you in house. By 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish, and it would be wonderful to see waterfront cities, such as yours help everyday people be better to our environment. Thank you for your consideration, and for the delicious coffee!
Sheila — Google review
It’s my last stop in Cork, but I’ll say it definitely not worth it! The coffee(Americano) is good, but they use paper cups for all customers, which is very not eco friendly. And one of their female staffs is very very rude. She rolled her eyes when I told her I wanna eat in rather than takeaway. I got a wrong flavor of my pastry, and it even tasted like raw dough… What a disappointing experience🙁
徐芋頭 — Google review
Quite disappointed. Looking for specialty coffee while traveling, this place was recommended. However, nothing about it is specialty coffee. No roast date on bean packages, limited info on origin; No latte art; Cocoa powder on top of the milk. Very bitter espresso extraction. Limited hygiene behind espresso machine. 2 stars because of the nicely decorated interior with the roast machine in the center and the (reasonably) friendly staff. Don’t come here if you‘re a coffee lover, you can get this kind of taste at any gas station vending machine.

Small cozy café with great coffee, a very friendly barista, and a really nice vibe. They opener earlier than other places and had some tasty cakes, croissants etc

I decided to grab a quick coffee here last week and was let down with the service. The red haired girl who served me was very snappy and rude. The coffee itself was nice but her attitude was very negative.

It's a lovely coffee house with great coffee and a friendly weitress, she made latte art for me! I can't wait to come back to taste their pastry. Edit: the pastries are tasty too Edit 2: I have tried the coffee both takeaway and in the shop. It's great either way

For some reason I had never been in this location, but popped in after lunch for a double espresso. It was delicious and the staff was very friendly. There is slightly more indoor seating here than at other locations I’ve been too. But not a ton. Lots of construction outside at the moment. But even without it, don’t expect parking. There is no car park to my knowledge. Great traditional coffee shop in Cork!

Whenever I stop by this coffee shop, I always encounter rude baristas. They look constantly angry, serve people with a cold, stone face, and act as if customers are disturbing them just by ordering. Honestly, it’s completely unprofessional and makes the whole place feel unwelcoming.

Nice cafe, but it’s a shame they close in the middle of the afternoon at weekends. Myself and some other customers were being turned away at closing time. I had to go to one of the (many) other coffee shops in town, which were all still bustling with customers.

Dede at the Customs House Baltimore is a Michelin-starred restaurant located in the charming village of Baltimore. Chef Ahmet Dede's creativity shines through in his unique culinary creations, which put a Turkish twist on local ingredients. The restaurant offers a distinctive tasting menu that combines international flavors with Irish produce, providing an unforgettable dining experience. Visitors from all over Ireland are drawn to this award-winning establishment for its exceptional outdoor dining and relaxing atmosphere.
Dede is a truly magical place with the food, ambience and staff all being outstanding. It’s the best 2 Michelin Star restaurant I’ve had the pleasure of eating in. What made it extra special was to meet Chef Dede which was a joy and a privilege as well as his business partner Maria. The fusion Turkish/Irish cuisine was a taste sensation.
Marianne W — Google review
My wife and I enjoyed a lunch at Dede’s yesterday, the food was phenomenal, distinctly elegant In combining Turkish flavours and local produce. We have been in numerous Michelin restaurants in the Netherlands and central Europe, thus we can wholeheartedly say that Dede’s restaurant is not only worth a detour, but also a trip to Ireland. The non-alcoholic pairing for the courses is the best we have ever enjoyed. Thanks so much for a wonderful time at your place.
Greg H — Google review
We sat in the garden room, a fire was blazing in the fireplace, the chairs had sheepskin lining and extra blankets for maximum coziness on a rainy night. Everything was absolute perfection, no detail overlooked, every course was served different members of a large and cohesive team. The chef talked to us at the end, a kind and genuine gentleman, full of gratitude for his team and his position. The food was top quality and such an innovative blend of Turkish flavors with local fresh ingredients. Presentation was impeccable! We did the basic wine pairing, which was excellent. Start to finish one of the best experiences I’ve ever had the pleasure to share.

What can I say except WOW! I wish I could give more than 5 stars, because Dede deserves it. Service is outstanding, you really feel special. Food is out of this world, taste explosion after another. Wine is superb. Ahmet came out and greeted everyone, he is such a nice guy. What I love the most is how he showcased his team. Each course was presented by the station chefs and described. So lovely. I’ll be back again for sure. You should come here if you find yourself in Baltimore.

Food was magnificent, absolutely delicious and wonderfully judged.Lovely restaurant. I don't have too much more to say about the experience really which for good or bad is telling I think. For some reason we didn't feel the experience was that memorable and we can't figure out why. Only real criticism is our wine and water glasses went empty for too long on more than one occasion which I have not experienced before at this level of dinning and this is nitpicking.

Stunning little place. Food delicious & classically plated. Wine tasty and I like how the drinks menus were displayed by the side of each table. Would recommend to anyone who likes tasty traditional food.
Will G — Google review
Having been to 50 Cornmarket three times now (the first 3 of many) I can confidently say that Anne and Dave really know how to create a wonderful dining experience. The front of house team do a fantastic job of making you feel at ease and welcomed, and the food has been interesting, delicious and well presented on every visit. The menu changes seasonally, so it’s definitely worth revisiting if you haven’t been in a while, yet there are some dishes which I hope never leave... Myself and my girlfriend and both chefs and, while neither of us particularly like going to the same place twice (field research etc…) Cornmarket is different. A dish I find myself craving periodically is the pickled mussels on charred sourdough. It’s perfect simplicity, the flavours and textures are absolutely addicting and I would order it every time it’s on the menu. They also treat their vegetables with just as much care as their meat so expect the vegetarian option to be vibrant, delicious and certainly not an afterthought. Cornmarket is a really special little restaurant and one which I will certainly be going back to.

We had a wonderful experience when dining for the first time last weekend for a birthday celebration. We had the window table which was lovely. The food was all delicious, starters, mains and dessert, really good quality and beautifully presented. The staff were all so lovely, even though they were constantly on the go the whole night as it was very busy. We thought it was very good value for the high level of food. The wine menu was very good too with lots of choice. A gem of a restaurant, and we will definitely be back.
Caroline B — Google review
Popped in with my wife on a Saturday evening and wow was it busy!!! A great sign for a place right? First, the food. The menu is very interesting with an excellent selection. I had pickled muscles for start, and the rump for main. The pickled muscles were tasty, but somewhat lacking the actual flavour of being pickled. The Rump was a touch overdone and not served with a side which was surprising. My wife had fried oysters to start, and steak tartar for main. I see in other comments that the owner has defended the cost while talking about challenging prices in the business. I would see this as fair, however, it would stand to reason that serving a steak in sauce and nothing else with it is a somewhat sad looking plate. If other business are managing a little something on the side, it may be worth taking a look at how the dish is presented here. The atmosphere was busy, however downside of this was that it would be easier to hold a conversation next to a screaming toddler than here due to the mighty background noise. This is not really the fault of the restaurant as it is the size that it is, just be aware that you may need to perfect your lip reading before arriving. The staff were lovely and very helpful so a big thanks to them! Would I come back? No, too loud but that is just a me problem.

Amazing food, atmosphere and service. Genuinely the best food we’ve had in a long time. The menu is small, considered and thoughtful with well balanced flavours. The wine list is well chosen. We were served by a woman who I expect was the owner as well as a very helpful guy named Jack. Vibes and food was amazing! Especially the butterhead salad and the dessert was out of this world. As a Turk, I can confirm, even the Baklava is so good and crisp!
Fatma B — Google review
I’ve lived in Ireland for 8 months. We dine out frequently. In the time we’ve been here to be VERY blunt, St. Francis Provisions is a top three dining experience! Staff was attentive but not intrusive, we we seated in outdoor dining was on a small city square that was pretty much deserted as it was drizzling (we were seated under an awning, so stayed dry)… The flood was sublime. We had the Braised Chard with Raisins/Pine Nuts and Ajo Blanco, the Grilled radishes with Macroom Ricotta (the Ricotta was stunning), the Caherberg Bavette (skirt steak?) with “Green Sauce” and Smoked Potatoes with Aioli… The starters we more than big enough, was very surprised by the radishes as they were green/sweet and not peppery, at all. The Ajo Blanco with the chard was difficult to place in my culinary lexicon - I need to learn to make it! - The Bavette was perfectly cooked and the “Green Sauce was a Chimi-churri-esque riff with capers and mint… ALL of the above were plated well, tasted great and left us wishing we had more room to try ALL the other menu items… But the thing that got me THE MOST was Chef Rebecca’s take on potatoes. Look, this is Ireland…you can’t turn over a menu in upscale dining here without new and interesting riffs on potatoes. According to Jack, the Maitre’d, these were steamed, then smoked, then fried and served with a very thick and punchy garlic aioli. Simply, they are the finest potatoes I have eaten since moving here…. In conclusion, St. Francis is a top three favorite dinner since we moved here. The place is small and cooks at a level that you might not expect with its simple setting and “quaint tourist town” vibe… If you get the chance, eat there. You’ll kick yourself if you don’t. So, all things Kinsale are easy to find, on the internet…the town is lovely, and reminds me of small New England seaport towns.

Sunday brunch at St Francis was a really unique experience with the farm to table concept in action. Loads of people in the town as there was a summer music festival ongoing so we sat at the bar for a treat. The chef brought her Spanish training to serve tapas style small plates packed with flavor. We had just about everything on the vegan/veg menu and left very satisfied

Wasn't for us. Tryed a selection of food. The focaccia was was generous but plain. Kerry coppa was fine but too much oil roast potatoes came with what i guess a strong hollandaise sauce Biggest disappointment was the steak disk. Very tough and very oily. Ordered the Korean pulled pork in the Marina market. What came out was a bun with a couple of really fatty strips of what looked like pork belly. The meat was rubbery and unfortunately I just ate the chips and threw the "pulled pork" in the bin, as it was so unappetising, and not worth €13+ In hindsight, I should have ordered from the Asador BBQ restaurant. So disappointed, don't recommend

Myself and my friend just went to white rabbit in the marina market. We both got the wings and chips which were €15. When we went up to collect them, there were FOUR WINGS. I was shocked. Went to eat them and they were the driest wings ever, no bbq sauce on them at all. We then had to ask for more sauce for the wings and the guy working there didn’t seem too pleased and didn’t respond and just handed out the sauce. Would absolutely avoid.

Joke of a place. There is a reason there is no ques here more too offer in the market and the price for a few rasher was a joke

No stars. Bad service. Ordered two sandwiches, they said 10 min waiting, turns out to be 45min. And they lost my order. Just remembered because I went asking for it. And they even said it was 2min more. When they didn’t have my full order. Disgraceful. No respect at all. A sorry without even look in the eye of the customer.

Disappointing. Food wasn’t great. Fries were terrible and the sandwich is actually a cheap burger bun. Slow to come too. I wouldn’t eat here again.

The Oliver Plunkett is a vibrant pub located along the free live music trail during the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival. It offers a great selection of pub grub and cocktails, as well as a cozy live performance area upstairs where several performers entertain guests each night during the festival. The bar also features traditional Irish dishes like Irish stew, beef and Beamish stout pie, and bacon and cabbage. Additionally, it houses the Frisky Whiskey Bar for whiskey enthusiasts.
Fun, friendly Irish pub. Music was great with the typical Irish flare. Service was great and food was above average pub food. Visited on a Friday evening and waited about 30 minutes for a table. Inside and outside seating available.

Popped into The Oliver Plunkett for a bit of lunch and really enjoyed it. We had the roast pork sandwich, which was packed with flavour and came with a nice bit of gravy on the side—proper comfort food. Also tried the spice bag, which had a great kick to it and was perfect for sharing. Had two lovely pints of Guinness to go with it all—poured just right and went down a treat. The place had a good buzz about it, friendly staff, and a nice laid-back vibe. Definitely somewhere we’d go back to next time we’re in Cork. Might even try a few more things off the menu!

We went on a weekday around 4pm, asked for a table for 4, was told there was a wait, we went to the bar and ordered 4 drinks with no problems, our table was ready in less than 5 minutes. Wait staff took our order in 5 minutes of sitting, no one came back over to our table for over 45 minutes to ask how we were doing, we had to go to the hostess' station and ask about our order... Then it finally came out a few minutes later, we asked for another drink order which came back in 5 minutes! Bar service is great, but the wait staff is young, they all hang at the hostess' station, very lacking in customer service... Almost forgot this, but we waited for another 45'ish minutes after getting our food/drinks and had to go again to the hostess' station and ask for our bill... Unfortunate, because the bar service and food were good!

Lively pub in the heart of Cork. We foolishly didn't make a reservation before arriving in Cork on a Saturday evening, but this place only had a 20 minute wait, so we got a pint at the bar while we waited for a table to open up. The service was friendly and notified us almost exactly when they'd quoted. We sat and they were prompt to take our order. Our food (Irish stew and a burger) came out quickly and were both quite tasty. The ambiance was lively and fun and we enjoyed our meals. We also decided to try the bread pudding and am glad we did because it was also tasty. Definitely recommend if you're in Cork for a night!

Fabulous food and great atmosphere. Tasteful quirky decorations make the place look interesting too. Had the Mac and cheese and traditional Irish stew.

I rather large group showed up unannounced and were welcomed with open arm. Our server was exceptional, she notified that us that the kitchen was closing soon so we were able to order our meals. I had the lamb stew and debated finding the chef that created this culinary masterpiece to give them a hug. 😘 The entertainment/band that night, May 3, was legendary! To say our group loved the singer and band would be an understatement, we completely adored them!!!

The smoked salmon was presented well and the chicken sliders weren’t half bad either. Great atmosphere but the chairs and tables were a little uncomfortable especially for my tall party.

After going for a tour around Cork City we stopped at The Oliver Plunkett, very welcoming staff and great service. We both had the sandwiches which were amazing and very filling. We then came back that evening to see the live music and both performances that evening were brilliant. The atmosphere from all the staff, locals and visitors were amazing and the staff were very friendly all night and looked after everyone. I would definitely stop by again the next time I'm in Cork City!

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Cork City on Cornmarket Street, Cornstore Cork is an upscale bar-restaurant that promises a delightful dining experience. With its chic Manhattan-style ambiance, this venue specializes in locally sourced seafood and succulent steaks, making it an ideal spot for both casual lunches and special celebrations. The lively atmosphere is complemented by a unique cocktail menu that adds to the overall charm. For those looking to enjoy their meal outdoors, the inviting terrace offers a perfect sun-soaked setting.
Great place for a date night, with areas for semi-private booths away from the open seating areas. The French onion soup was flavorful but a little sweet. Steaks were cooked perfectly, tender and juicy. Some bolder red wines (like a Primitivo) would pair better with good steaks. The cookie and ice cream is worth another visit.

Saturday for lunch. Great outdoor seating, cute inside. The Birds and the Bees cocktail was fantastic, even the bees loved it [literally]! The Duck was phenomenal, hubs even tried the appetizer which surprised me! The steak was well cooked also. Decently priced $126.26 on my credit card which should include tip but seems cheaper than I remember...

Had dinner at Cornstore Cork and went for the three-course set menu. I got the salad for the starter, the cauliflower steak for the main, and the flourless chocolate cake with pistachio ice cream for dessert. Overall, everything was fine nothing exceptionally good, but nothing to complain about either. The food was decent, the service was friendly, and the evening was pleasant. That said, it didn’t quite leave a lasting impression, so I’d say probably not one I’d rush back to. Ratings: 🍴 Food: 3.5/5 🛎 Service & Ambience: 4/5 💸 Value for Money: 3.5/5

We went here for our anniversary dinner, it was delicious we had a great experience. The cocktails were next level exquisite, i was driving and they accommodated my no alcohol request perfectly. All the cocktails are made to request as I was able to order any of the cocktails as mocktails. I ordered the pornstar martini and they even served me a shot of lemonade! My partner enjoyed normal cocktails and reported they were amazing. For dinner I ordered the sundries tomato cannelloni which wasn’t my favourite but still nice. My partner ordered the salmon which was cooked perfectly. We ordered a side of mashed potatoes which were creamy and delicious. Desert was equally delicious and the staff surprised us with a candle for our anniversary. Overall it was well worth the price.

One of our favourite places to eat, scrumptious food and lovely staff. My husband had the ribeye steak with a side of beef dripping chips and I had the risotto and a side of Café de Paris wedges, absolutely delicious.

Gorgeous steak - we shared the Tomahawk special (1kg). Dauphinaise potatos were a stand out - very cheesy! The blue cheese accompanying sauce was really lovely but the bone marrow butter was a little disappointing - tasted weirdly like shop bought garlic sauce?! Tuna ceviche was missing a bit of the lime / citrus flavour I expected but was still enjoyable. Baked Alaska and creme brulee were very tasty puddings. Wine list was decent. Old fashioned cocktail was perfect! Service was excellent and very attentive.

Quinlan's Seafood Bar, located on High Street in Killarney, is a popular spot known for its super-fresh fish and chips. The menu features a variety of seafood options including scallops, haddock, wild mussels, and more. What sets Quinlan's apart is their commitment to sourcing fresh fish and shellfish from their own boats in Renard and Caherciveen. This ensures that guests can enjoy ultra-fresh seasonal seafood at affordable prices.
Wow! Best chowder by far in Ireland. So much fish and not swimming in cheap cream. Cod n Chips were also top. We want to go back tonight!

I recently celebrated a very important milestone at Quinlan's Seafood Bar in Killarney, and I couldn't have chosen a better place for such a special occasion. Having enjoyed seafood in many different countries—including Portugal, Spain, Israel, and Italy—I can confidently say that Quinlan's delivered an experience that was truly outstanding. The food was absolutely the best in both taste and presentation. Every dish was beautifully plated, incredibly fresh, and bursting with vibrant flavors that highlighted the quality of the local catch. Since this celebration was so meaningful to me, the quality of the food was extra important, and Quinlan’s exceeded all expectations. The service by Edward was excellent—attentive, friendly, and genuinely caring, which made the evening even more memorable. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff’s attention to detail did not go unnoticed. Quinlan’s commitment to freshness, flavor, and top-notch service made my milestone celebration unforgettable. For anyone seeking the best seafood experience in Killarney, this is the place to go. I’ll cherish this meal for a long time to come!

Delicious fish and chips. We went for the cod and it did taste brilliant and was fresh. Large portions. Service was great too during a busy Saturday night in August banko holiday. Recommend this place!

Taste wise was nothing special. I wanted to get the chowder but then i saw there was a menu special. Half chowder and half salmon sandwich. Why not? Well basically i paid 2.50 euro extra to have half chowder and 2 slice of salmon on the slice of bread that usually comes with the soup. Or in other terms i paid 6.50 for 2 slices of salmon. I guess that if i would have got the full sandwich, they would have gave me the slice of bread above.

We went to Quinlan's on Monday, September 8. We did not have a reservation, so had a short wait. Despite being super busy, the staff was friendly and helpful. They were so on the ball with everything. Our food came out really fast once we ordered. The fish and chips were piping hot and delicious. I had the cod, while my husband had hake. Both were absolutely tasty!

Ciao ragazzi, Ask member of staff if the toilet needs attention. I guess thats what I am doing right now it needs some cleaning from time to time. Regarding the food my lads an me took fried with fried and some fried to share for the table. Taste is neutral but after the feast you walk realy slow which is great for sight seeing. Chilli Jam was great but we needed to ask to find what out what it actually is. Piacere!

Restaurant
Strasbourg Goose Restaurant is a charming French-influenced eatery located on the historic French Church Street in Cork city. The cozy ambiance, with banquette seating and candlelit wine bottles, creates an inviting atmosphere akin to dining at a friend's place. The restaurant has garnered praise for its delectable dishes such as fillet steak, lamb shank, fish and chips, slow-cooked beef, and garlic mushrooms. Visitors have commended the friendly staff and reasonable prices.
We walked around for a while before deciding on this restaurant. The deal they have for starter and main drew us in and then the fact that I saw goose on the menu. The outside could do with a little upgrading as it did make us question if we were making the right choice, but as soon as we walked through the door, our fears were alleviated. It's beautifully decked out inside, and the welcome we got from the owner was super friendly. However, it's the food, cooked by the owner, that sets this place apart. Everything we had was absolutely beautiful. We were in Cork for three nights and it was by far the best food we had on the whole trip. The prices were very reasonable for the high quality of the food and the Murphys on tap just finished it all off nicely. Please give this place a try. You won't regret it

Went here at the start of March and I'm still drooling at the thought of the food we had. AMAZING. The salmon was divine, the goose was tender and juicy....had paté and pulled pork for starters and literally wolfed it. Cocktails were 9 euro and they do an especially nice Martini👌 Service was very efficient and faultless really. Also GREAT value for money €

Great restaurant in a cozy, living room like atmosphere. The owner sat and chatted with us for a few minutes as well and she was just lovely! Food was top notch and tasted great. Prices were very reasonable as well! I had a swordfish, my wife had the braised lamb shank, and my mother in law had the monk fish. All were delicious!

This was an interesting dining experience. Inside seating is quite minimal, and sort of feels like you are in someone’s home. I was not a huge fan of sitting very close to other tables, to the point of being able to hear other conversations. The vegetarian food options were pretty tasty though and they serve a fair Murphy’s and bottle of wine. The menu is a little strange and not sure I liked the fixed price aspect. Not sure how flexible they are with it, but basically had to order a main and either a app or dessert to go with it at a fixed price. I prefer more flexibility when choosing, but that’s just me.
Kevin M — Google review
On entering the Strasberg Goose Restaurant the atmosphere was nice and welcoming, staff very attentive and food smelt delicious. I ordered a starter which was Pate, very bland and my husbands garlic mushrooms with a garlic mayonaise was again very bland. We both ordered Irish sirloin steaks, one medium which was over cooked and very chewy, the other medium rare, again over cooked and chewy. The chips were lovely as was the pepper sauce, we were both very disapointed at this point but decided we would give desert ago, they did not disappoint. My husbands hot chocolate cake and ice cream was delicious (his words) I opted for fruit pavlova again this was delicious. One pointer I would give if eating here, do not sit where you can see the chef cooking unless you want a view of his backside, which was quite off putting. Maybe he should wear a belt!!

The Old Town Whiskey Bar at Bodega is a multifaceted establishment that combines a pan-global restaurant, high-energy nightclub, and an ornate, high-ceilinged nightspot. Originally known as the Irish Market, it was once an indoor market dating back to 1840. The venue's rich history is depicted through a black and white photograph of the bustling original market displayed on the wall.
Beer was great, no complaints there. The atmosphere was solid, just what you’d expect from an Irish pub in Ireland. There’s an impressive variety of whiskey, so don’t miss the chance to try some less common ones. Overall, not the cheapest place, but worth it for the experience.

Visually charming and the wine list is fine, but the experience felt strangely empty. Like being served a story that everyone’s pretending to believe. If you enjoy theatrics more than connection, this might be your place.
Sara B — Google review
This place is weird and a bit grim. Service was odd, I wanted a vodka and soda, I was told they only served Smirnoff vodka when there were 2 other options on the shelf. My partner ordered a whisky, we came here due to the name and the wide range of whiskies. The bar tender had to go and wash a whisky glass, it wasn’t busy, not sure why they were out of whisky glasses. Presenting the plain tumbler (based on the announcement from the bar tender about getting a glass I was expecting some special whiskey glass) wet, He wiped it with a dirty tea towel and poured the drink. The place is huge but laid out for dining, there was no where to sit with just drinks so we went outside to the tables on the street. It is all pretty grim and sticky. The awnings whilst providing shelter were disgusting, there were flies everywhere too. The furniture is dirty and uncomfortable. The toilets were also dark and grim. All in all this place has great potential, with a wide range of whiskeys and a historical large building, they would benefit from giving the place a clean to start with. Then perhaps stock up on some appropriate glassware for serving whisky. Wouldn’t recommend

We had a celebration meal there with our family recently and it was very successful. Food was slow in the beginning but the courses came they were all done to perfection / presentation great . Only gripe was we had to give the table back after 2 hrs and we struggled to have all 3 courses in that time span. Apart from that a beautiful well run restaurant.

The Oyster Tavern is a historic establishment in Cork City, dating back to 1792. It offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere, serving excellent food and fine drinks. Located at the Market Lane Entrance to Cork's famous English Market, it provides a dining experience rich in tradition and flavor. The tavern has undergone restoration and now features two floors: a cozy traditional bar on the lower level and an elegantly designed upstairs bar perfect for dining and socializing.
Hidden gem next to the English market, not surprised it's been recommended and rated high score. Amazing environment with lovely food and drink offered. The oyster is fresh, served with lemon sorbet, which is interesting. Their cocktail menu is very innovative but also tasty. We went in and had a lovely afternoon. There was a live band there too.

Excellent quiet location tucked away in central Cork near the English Market. The inside was very nice, but we enjoyed the outdoor seating with the dog (very dog friendly and even brought her a bowl of water). We arrived shortly after opening so it was basically empty. Lovely staff and food was absolutely delicious, we got mostly small share plates, but the seafood chowder was 🤤. Just go ahead and get the big bowl of that.
Taylor M — Google review
This was my first time in the Oyster since it was renovated and it's absolutely gorgeous. The lounge downstairs is plush but laid back and the upstairs bar and dining area has a New Cork cocktail bar feel. The food was delicious and reasonably priced (18 for a large cheese/meat plate I couldn't come close to finishing) and came out fast. The staff were great and very responsive, and there's also an excellent choice of drinks. You can sit at the bar in plush seats, so a nice option for dates, and the tables can handle larger groups too. There's a lift upstairs so it's accessible, although the loo doors may be tricky for some wheelchairs. We had a great night and I'll be back next time I fancy treating myself a little.

It was good, broken seat, and even though it was a brunch at 2pm there was no dessert menu. We would have stayed and had a lot more to drink if there was some kind of dessert menu for that time, food we got was lovely. Music was too load for restaurant area as it was turned up at least twice while in there. But the best thing were the Staff, they are outstanding.

Amazing Tapas style food . They have some arepas, classic bar food like chicken wings, scampi, fish and chips etc. Portions are big enough if you’re not a big eater. Great service and good selection of drinks! We tried the chicken wings and the vegetarian arepas with beans. Both dishes were fab!

Really good! A nice little hideaway. Great place for a chill coffee or a bit o day smoozing/ boozing. I believe they do a bottom less brunch for just adding €25 to any meal. The staff here are also extra nice and the washrooms were nice and tidy. It's also worth mentioning that I got a capachino here and it was lovely. Very creamy, smooth blend and most importantly, hot 🔥. Not bad for a bar coffee lads, ye did yerselves proud.

I normally do not post reviews for hotels but the Staff here was super friendly and inviting. The breakfasts were amazing. As an American who loves their A/C I was a little worried they don't have it but with the windows opening and a fan it was quite pleasant in the room. It is located in a great spot within walking distance of the trains and buses and plenty of food and shopping areas. I would definitely stay here again if I am ever back in Cork.

Spent a few nights here recently which generally went well except for the first night. I was put into a generously sized room at the front of the hotel and the traffic from the street kept me awake for a good portion of the night. Also the room had no heating and it was Baltic! The staff were very helpful and moved me the following morning to a smaller but thankfully quieter room at the side. Overall the rooms and hotel generally is decorated and maintained to a very high standard. Great selection and quality of food for breakfast. Location is very central and this part of Cork has visible improved over the past few years. Staff were all unfailingly polite and helpful.

The hotel has a good central location. There were several restaurants within close proximity, and the hotel’s restaurant is also worth mentioning. Iced tea is not common in Ireland, but our server went out of his way to make a delicious glass of iced tea. The rooms were clean and spacious with comfy beds. Ireland was experiencing a heat wave, and unfortunately our rooms didn’t have AC; but they did provide a table fan. The staff was friendly and very accommodating for our large conference group. We had a room that faced the alley; so it occasionally got a bit noisy at night. My friends and I kept commenting about how pretty the hotel was. The most standout thing for me, was the staff. Highly recommend.
Geri — Google review
The staff were amazing, welcoming and helpful. Other than a soup that had more salt than veg in it, the rest of the food was lovely. The rooms on the other hand are outdated. Wallpaper peeling off the walls, dirty curtains and sink taps that you have to keep turning for the water to finally come out. I would stay in this hotel again but in a different room. Location is very handy. Parking 1min walk. Public transport directly across the bridge.

Stayed 2 nights at 4th floor. First night it was only cold water in the shower. I waited for more than 10 minutes until I realized there was no hot water. So I called reception and they reset something. The hot water came after 5 minutes. I thought It was a 1 time problem. So I didn’t bother to change a room. Second night, it happened again when I wanted to shower!! Obviously this issue happens quite often at this hotel when i read other comments here. The worst is that when I used the toilet around midnight. The water pressure was so low that it was impossible to flush. Called reception and was informed that they would reset the pressure. Tried again in the morning and it didn’t work. One of the lifts was not working in the second day and when I checked out it was not fixed yet. The reception apologized sincerely and I understand there is nothing they could do as they only work there. Incredible that a 4 stars hotell could not provide the basic elementary services like hot water in the shower and a working toilet.

I stayed at this hotel for one night recently. I have mixed feelings about the hotel. I don't think I will again be in Cork anytime soon, but I will try some other hotel. Positives + Courteous and friendly staff + Nice view of the river Lee if you are in the correct rooms + Good location Negatives - Fixtures and furniture are old - The hotel itself is old, but they tried to modernize it, but halfheartedly - Small TV (but good number of channels) - Shower/tub plumbing and operation is probably intuitive for people in 1950 - They should change the source of the instant coffee

We loved this hotel! Excellent location and the breakfast was amazing. No air-conditioning but they do provide a fan in the room which was great. We faced the river and found the room to be pretty quiet at night! We had a signature twin room which had ample space. I would highly recommend this hotel! Cork is an amazing city!

Great location right in the centre of Cork. We booked the jazz package for Cork Jazz Fest and it was great to have full access to all rooms to hear the amazing jazz performers. We were on the 4th floor and genuinely couldn't hear any noise which was great. The only downside was the water wasn't great so we often ran out of water for showers but it came back within a few minutes. They also had gorgeous vegan options for the dinner and the breakfast which I really appreciated. The only thing I would say is that they seem to sell unlimited tickets to the jazz events and it was absolutely jammers each night with no priority for residents to get seats so no matter what time we got down to the bar or the Beckett we were always standing in a very busy passageway with people knocking into us to get through which made it a little difficult to enjoy the music. Having the ballroom and Douglas Vance was great for dancing but it would have been great to have better seating priority in the met bar and the beckett for guests looking for something a little more laid back. There was a very large amount of college students drinking from early in the day so the vibe was a bit chaotic and none of them were there for the jazz but just to drink so it was hard to hear the performers over the very loud chatter.

Run by local chef Rob Krawczyk, this Michelin-starred restaurant offers an inventive and sophisticated menu that has impressed both professional food critics and casual diners. The dining experience at Restaurant Chestnut is characterized by unexpected flavor combinations such as turf-infused butter, quail eggs with caviar and oysters, and herbal tea with a hint of whiskey.
Went for the "snacks and nibbles" menu and the signature tasting menu. The dishes in the snacks menu were nice, and the atmosphere upstairs was quite casual. They had a good selection of wines in both, the snacks and the signature menus. The signature tasting menu was excellent, this was, by a remarkable margin, the best fine dining experience I've ever had. You could see the chef's attention to detail in each and every dish, and many of these dishes were very innovative and tasted absolutely delicious. Even my least favourite dishes were ones that I would love to have again, and the best ones were to die for. The serving staff were very friendly and so knowledgeable. They knew the cooking methods, the ingredients and the origin of these ingredients. Some of them even gave me general directions to the ingredients' origins. Kudos to the chefs, service staff and everyone involved who made this experience possible. Highly recommend visiting this place, worth every penny

Amazing dining experience with the full tasting menu. Rob, Elaine and team are simply amazing! Thanks so much for a wonderful evening with friends! We will be back soon for round two. Highly recommend the full tasting menu with wine pairing or with the non alcoholic pairing. The elderflower kombucha from Elaine’s family farm was simply divine!! Bravo 👏🏻

Phenomenal experience at Chestnut earlier this year. The tasting menu with wine pairing was outstanding, every course a highlight. Understated decor, relaxed atmosphere, and staff who were friendly, knowledgeable, yet never overbearing. Easy 5 stars.

A truly special evening. Restaurant Chestnut exceeds our expectations on every visit. A true taste of West Cork created with passion and appreciation for each ingredient. The service is attentive yet not intrusive. A must visit when in the area, it won’t disappoint!
Niamh F — Google review
We had a really good experience at Restaurant Chestnut. We chose the four-course tasting menu, which was delicious – but we wished we had gone for the bigger one because the food was so tasty. Our waitress was lovely and told us lots about each dish and and how the ingredients is sourced locally.
Bridget R — Google review
Absolutely fantastic experience. We have some dietary restrictions but we let them know a couple of days on advance when we made our booking. We had the 4 course tasting menu. It did not disappoint. The food was exquisite. Local ingredients and you can tell so much care and attention to detail went into every dish. It’s a relaxed atmosphere where you can chat peacefully between courses and really savour the food. In addition the service is incredible. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable about every aspect of the food and so helpful and great to chat to. Highlight of our trip to west cork. Although we were satisfied after our meal, we enjoyed it so much I wish we had done the longer 7 course option. Special shout out to the freshly made soda bread and butter.

Had the most amazing experience at The Chestnut Restaurant. The staff were so welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable of all their produce and dishes. We couldn't fault anything we ate and the wine pairing was fabulous too. Yes! It's not cheap but you know why when you taste the delights they offer.

A fabulous dining experience at restaurant Chestnut. We had the four course set taster menu with wine pairing. From the warm greeting and service from Elaine and team to the DELICIOUS food prepared by Rob and the kitchen team the experience was incredible. The food was thought provoking and very tasty, Thank you 🙏

Flea & Street Markets
In Cork's Victorian Quarter, the Mother Jones Flea Market is a must-visit indoor market with a variety of vintage goods. Each stall offers unique finds, from ditsy-print china to vinyl records and upcycled furniture. The on-site cafe provides a perfect spot to take a break and enjoy live music during jazz sessions or local band performances. Named after a renowned trade unionist, this market is a treasure trove of books, clothes, furniture, and eclectic items.
This is a really cool antique shop located in Cork City. It has many items to look at. From collectors items to genuine actual home decoration. I would highly recommend a visit to this store if you like old fashioned items and/or antique products. The staff are very nice and very helpful. I bought old Irish notes here where I could not find anywhere else in the city. This is ideal for coin collectors. They also have vintage clothing, music and everything really. I would not miss this place if you like to shop for vintage or antiques.
BCL A — Google review
While visiting Cork we came across this fun indoor antique shop. Fun walking through and seeing the variety of items they have collected. A little over priced, but we still bought a few items to take back home.
Tim — Google review
Funny place with old everything, including religious items, fur coats, clothes, adverts signs of all kids, jewellery, cutlery, kitchen ware, coal bunkers, records, stationery, statuettes, tapes, etc, I can't even list everything here... Might be a good place for antiques lovers or people who like recycling items.
A H — Google review
Lots if very interesting stuff here. Store is jammed with suff everywhere as you would expect a thrift store. Good location off a main street of restaurants and bars.
Russell H — Google review
Very cool and authentic antiques inside this flea market, as well as vintage clothes at a reasonable price
Alexandra S — Google review
The shop is very clean, they have a lot of interesting items, the staff are very welcoming, my daughter found a very nice T-shirt. Although this shop is very inviting (I think) but the prices can be on the higher side

Really interesting spot. Has a great atmosphere and variety of items. Definitely worth visiting for antiques and unique pieces. Really recommend for the little signs of Cork, Guinness, different sport teams…
Rocio P — Google review
Great vintage and antique market with a unique selection of collectors items, home decor and clothes, we only had half an hour to look round and would recommend giving yourself longer if you’re a proper vintage buyer, great tunes too

Cocktail bar
Nestled in the heart of Cork, The Crane Lane Theatre is a vibrant and lively establishment that offers an eclectic mix of music and entertainment. From the energetic performances of Strange Attractor to Ireland's longest running jazz improv featuring local and international musicians, there's something for every music enthusiast. On Sundays, the Skatuesque takes the stage with classic Ska sounds performed by an all-female lineup.
The best venue in cork, cool vibe, plenty of live music, latino nights, cabaret the works. Great crowd, never any trouble or issues. Bar crew are the best. Food is sensational. The only place in cork i frequent every week.
Aaron C — Google review
Cool venue, solid music. But there’s something theatrical behind the bar, like everyone’s playing a part. Great place if you enjoy performances with your pint.
Sara B — Google review
My friends and I were seated at a reserved table inside. A friend who had just arrived called me because there was a long queue outside. I approached the security guard (with my limited English) to ask if my friend still needed to wait in line even though we had a reservation. The guard immediately shouted in my face without even listening: “You stay inside or you go outside, you can’t be in the middle!” When I tried to calmly explain again, thinking he might have confused me with someone else, he grabbed my arm very strongly twice, shook me, and forcefully pushed me outside through the entrance area. There are two or three small steps at the door, and although I managed to keep my balance, I could easily have tripped and fallen. Because of this violent movement — combined with my existing nerve condition — I ended up with intense pain in my leg that I am still dealing with. It may sound unnecessary to mention, but I cannot drink alcohol because I take medication for a chronic nervous condition. The guard’s violent behaviour was therefore completely unjustified and unacceptable. He left me outside without my jacket and my bag. No one has the right to touch me without my consent, and certainly not a man in his position. My husband, who was still inside, collected my belongings and came out to me. He politely asked the guard what had happened. The guard then threatened him and spoke aggressively, even implying that he could hit him. Two of his colleagues (a blonde woman and another man) supported his actions instead of stopping him. I have photos and videos clearly showing the guard involved, as well as the aggression that took place. I tried to take a picture of his ID, but his colleagues blocked me so I couldn’t do it. I have also filed an official report with An Garda. The pub has cameras outside, so this incident should be on record. I cannot recommend this place while such violent and threatening behaviour is tolerated and nothing is done about it.

One of our friends, the only black member of our group, wasn't allowed in because she was 'too drunk'. She wasn't.. it was 9pm and we had just come from dinner. When I noticed she wasn't with us, I went to find her (she had been trying to call us but we didn't hear our phones) and she told me the bouncer wouldn't let her in to tell us. She was apparently too drunk to enter the pub but not to isolate from her friends. When I looked over at the bouncer, he had a smirk on his face.. and we knew he would have loved the opportunity to escalate it if we argued. All five of us (women in our 30s and 40s) have worked in pubs over the years and we know this type of dude... The type who enjoys his job because he gets to exercise power and discriminate. I got my friends and we left. I'm from Cork and my friends were visiting with me. I'm so embarrassed they experienced this in my city, and my friend, so used to experiencing racism her whole life, was subjected to it in Cork. I've read the other reviews and this appears to be an issue that no one is addressing at these venues.
Dee F — Google review
Was walking in but a bouncer who was smoking not even at the door called after me and my boyfriend. He then pointed to all of me and said I wasn’t dressed well enough. The establishment itself seemed pretty empty as well. Wouldn’t waste my time here!
Deanna — Google review
Great spot, door staff friendly. Band comes on at 12 and they were REALLY GOOD. ‘Two time Polka’ have a DJ in one section, live music out back. Really good experience after a gig in the marquee.
Happy P — Google review
Threw out for having a casual fag on my own in the smoking areas , told to step outside , I explained that my girlfriend was inside , caused no hassle, stepped outside and rang the girlfriend to tell her , she came and pleaded with them, I was told to remain outside ……. Was later told that they like to remove all men so they have all the women inside , no man is welcome to my woman, have manners and tell me this is the protocol in the club, she will remove herself then , we also had €30 of drink left in drank so I dunno, security letting this place down because they think they can women , it takes work, not just getting the. Drunk and vulnerable and

Irish pub
Nestled in the heart of Cork, The Welcome Inn is a charming gem that embodies the spirit of traditional Irish hospitality. With roots tracing back to 1845, this historic pub offers a cozy atmosphere where locals gather for lively conversations over pints of craft beer and whiskey. While it may not be the place for wild parties, you can enjoy delightful live music sessions and friendly banter from both staff and regulars alike.
I wasn't sure about trying this pub but then a friend who was visiting Ireland insisted to, attracted by the promise of live music. I'm so glad he did! The Welcome Inn is small inside, with some nice tables outdoor. Some partitions help forgetting that one is very close to the road. We decided to stay indoor though, where we were super lucky to find free one of the tables available. This one was small but also right in front of the musicians. The duo played very well a mix of traditional Irish reels & tunes plus some international songs re-arranged for guitar & banjo. The selection of whiskeys available is impressive, which is not too surprising considering that the largest distillery in Ireland is only a few kilometers away. Clientele was a beautiful mix of tourists (mostly at the tables) and locals (mostly at the bar). Both the barman and the locals gave us some great tips on what whiskey to try.

Fantastic pub, thoroughly enjoyed our night here. Staff are a great laugh and atmosphere is very welcoming and homely as you’d expect from an Irish pub. Highly recommend visiting here. There was a band playing who were great.
Ruth K — Google review
Great pub with lovely pints and unique live music performances, with a whiskey selection like no other! Early morning or late evenings worth a visit.
Eamonn B — Google review
Top 5 favorites! Great live music, the man's voice was great. Wish I had gotten the name of the musician. Oh and Beamish!! Just down the street from the Clayton hotel and open early as well. Bartender was nice

At one end of William Plunkett St in Cork city you'll find The Welcome Inn. It's about the size of standard living room but outsized as a pub. It was full of men and women, busily chatting with background music trying to butt in. There were hugs and kisses whenever someone came in, or left, and the very pleasant and efficient barman was working his socks off to serve his customers. We were offered a seat for the 4 of us almost immediately but, instead of leaving, the lady moved to another table to continue her chatting and drinking. The 8 pints of Beamish we drank over the next hour or so were also splendid. If you are ever in the area you must check it out. You'll be made most Welcome.
Rob H — Google review
Fantastic warm welcoming bar. Made our short stay in Cork superb. Great craic with the locals and bar staff. Highly recommend if your looking for the Irish culture.
Jason A — Google review
Love this pub. Came Cork on my stag do. The welcome inn opens at 7am, so straight off the plane, on the bus and straight to the welcome inn for creamy pints and warm smiles. One of the highlights of the weekend.
Stephen H — Google review
I came upon this place by accident but it is a treasure if you want to experience something out of an era long gone. The atmosphere is inviting, friendly typical of Irish hospitality ! You are guaranteed to strike up an interesting conversation with the locals! Sit down, relax have a nice pint of Irish stout or if you wish, even a shot of the most expensive whiskey! Those bottles are high up on a shelf and some of them are marked not for sale! This is the only Day Pub left in Cork and is located at the beginning of Oliver Plunket St. on the side close to the Bus station at Parnel Place. If you want to experience its unique and quaint atmosphere and meet genuinely interesting characters, this is definitely the place to visit!
